it's been a hard year.

you and sevika got your worlds rocked when isha and jinx stumbled in your lives, and then you got your hearts broken when they stumbled back out.

there wasn't even a moment to catch your breath before you had to start rebuilding efforts and negotiations with piltover.

and then sevika was appointed to represent the free nation of zaun in piltover's council as the sister cities figure out how to rebuild and get the undercity on it's feet as it gains independence.

and, in a way, it's everything sevika's ever wanted. she's there to assure that the topsiders treat her city right, she's there to demand everything zaun deserves. she gets to oversee development in the undercity, she gets to open schools and parks and libraries.

but in another way, she's never been so miserable in her life.

the councilor's are all members of the wealthiest families in piltover-- and they do not take kindly to sevika's sudden addition to the council.

shoola's been sevika's one true ally, her biggest advocate and defender in the council room. they're friends, in that the same tentative way sevika was friends with silco, but... maybe a little kinder. a little more lighthearted.

shoola's become a close friend of yours, too. she learned quickly that sevika keeps her cards close to her chest, and she often comes to you for an insight into what your wife is thinking. it's fun to have someone to laugh with over sevika's quirks, and you're endlessly appreciative of the woman's fierce protection of your wife in the council, when you can't be there to defend her.

still, though. shoola isn't always there, and she can't control the whispers sevika overhears.

and it's not like your wife is new to being insulted. but it's one thing to be cursed out by a man you're fighting in the street, and a different thing entirely to overhear posh accents whispering about 'sump rats' and 'undercity trash.'

especially when those same posh accents are the people demanding tax cuts for the wealthy, and budget cuts for the undercity.

so, you've been anticipating this.

this being your wife breaking down in silent sobs, crying so hard she can't make any noise, kneeling before you the moment you gets home to bury her face in your stomach.

but just because this has been a long time coming, doesn't mean it breaks your heart any less.

"oh, sevika." you whisper shakily, kicking your boots off before kneeling down and wrapping your arms around her. she buries her face in your shoulder, her arms circling your waist with desperation. "fuck, baby. i'm right here. let it out." you say.

sevika shakes against you, taking desperate gasps for air between her sobs. "i'm so tired." she stutters out. you start crying at her words, settling down onto your ass to pull her into your lap.

"i know, baby. you've been working your whole fuckin' life." you say, scratching her scalp and rubbing her back as she curls up on top of you.

"and i fucking miss them." she cries.

you let out a choked cry and nod, kissing her forehead as tears stream down your cheeks. "yeah." you choke out. "me too."

there's nothing else to say. everything else sevika already knows. you love her. you've got her. jinx and isha are together now, and zaun is free. none of it makes it any better, though.

so you just hold her.

in a while, you'll both run out of tears and get sore from your spots on the floor. you'll dry both of your tears, kiss sevika soundly, and comb her hair from her face as you whisper her praises. you'll call for food to be delivered, draw a nice bath, and you'll make sevika eat and soak until her eyes droop. and then, you'll take her to bed. in the morning, sevika will go back to the council, despite the fact that everyone in that building looks down on her, because sevika is nothing if not loyal to zaun. and tomorrow evening, you'll be waiting here at home to build back up all her confidence that those rich assholes managed to tear down throughout the day.

but, for now, sevika's still crying.

so, for now, you just hold her.

Pairings: Shanks x Female Reader

Summary: Shanks meets an escaped slave from Marie Geois and swears to teach her how to live.

Notes* hey lovelies. As you can see from the oneshots, I'm finally back in action. I hope you enjoy the start of my new series that I'm planning to help me really get going. Expect some protective Shanks and some darker elements. Pretty fast pace just cause that how I enjoy writing him lol. I've really missed writing for him and sharing works with you wonderful people. Doll part 2

There aren't many things that could surprise Shanks on the Grand Line anymore, but the woman that sat at the bar could definitely be considered a good one. He didn't recognize her, but he could tell that she was in a league above the other patrons that sat around the bar. She sat in the back corner, a bottle of booze sat on the table in front of her that she occasionally took a pull from. Shanks sat at the front and got the attention of the bartender.

“Who's she?” He asked and the man shrugged as he cleaned a dingy glass.

“Dunno. She blew in a couple of days ago. She pays, so I don't ask questions.”

Shanks huffed and ordered a drink for himself, “And whatever she's been drinking, too.”

Drinks in hand, Shanks stood from the bar and ambled over to the table where the woman sat. He plonked the bottle down and, head tilting to the side, “This seat taken?”

You looked up, blinking rapidly as if coming out of a daze and gave the redhead a smile once you focused on the ale he'd sat beside your empty one. “Is now.”

Shanks grinned and plonked down in the chair opposite you and leaned back and eyed you from under his bangs, “You from about here?”

The woman shakes her head, a mysterious little smirk painting her lips, “Nope. And I can tell that you aren’t either.”

She tilts her head, eyes narrowing in thought before her eyes brighten like a bulb has gone off, “You’re Shanks, right?”

The emperor huffs and gestures to himself, “You caught me.”

He doesn’t expect the woman to go quiet, an almost contemplative look about her as she shifts in her chair. He can’t help but lean in, curious despite himself.

“Maybe you could help me out then?” You murmur and flick your eyes up to meet his own. Shanks is surprised to see the desperation lingering there, hidden behind the self-assurdness that you seem to wear like a second skin. What would a girl like you need help with?

“Alright, I’ll bite. Tell me what’s going on. Don’t let my money go to waste though, doll,” he murmurs and gestures to the untouched ale that he’d brought over. You smile in thanks and take a sip, wetting your mouth as you get ready to spill. You can only hope that the emperor will accept.

With shaking hands you reach up and unbutton the top few notches of your shirt, just enough to expose your left shoulder where the brand still tugs uncomfortably at your skin. Even though you’ve had the brand for years now, you’ll never get used to the sickening way it pulls at your skin. The constant reminder that you were owned.

Shanks sucks in a sharp breath, the brand of a slave staring back at him in before he tears his eyes away and looks back at you, “How’d you escape?”

You grimace and button back up, eyes flinty, “My old master,” you hiss the word in disgust, “Sent me on an errand in Sabaody so I took my chance. That was about a month ago now. They’re stil looking for me.”

“Who got your off the archipelago?” Shanks asks and downs half his tankard of rum in one go. He’s met slaves before while visiting the string of islands, but with Silvers there, Shanks steered clear most of the time unless he happened to drift close. The though that even after all that Fisher Tiger had done, the Celestial Dragons still kidnapped and baught slaves. It disgusted the emperor to have seen that brand on a woman like you.

You shrug and bite your bottom lip. You busy your hands by playing with the ring of condensation that the bottle of ale has left behind, “Didn’t really catch their names. I stowed away the first ship I could find and I’ve been drifting ever since. I just… I can’t go back to that place Shanks. I don’t want them to find me.”

Shanks doesn’t know what makes him reach out, but he takes both your hands in his own, and wow, you were such a small thing weren’t you? He squeezes your palms and gives you a confident grin to hide the rage that threatens to erupt like an active volcano. He may have just met you, but there is a feeling in the pit of his stomach that tells him that he’d met someone special. Someone that could change his life, and he finds himself hardpressed to even think of letting you slip away from him.

“Don’t worry, doll. I won’t ever let that happen,” Shanks swears, and it’s then that a thought crosses his mind. A blush flushes his face and he peers at you, “Maybe you outta tell me your name, though. Or I could just keep calling you doll. Either works for me.”

Your laugh sends a shot of heat straight to his stomach, and your smile could light up the sky, “My name is _, but you can keep calling me Doll if you’d like.”

Shanks meets your grin with one of his own and then stands, carefully pulling you up with him, “Well, doll. How about you come meet my crew?”

Shanks stays close to you for the rest of the evening, introducing you to each one of his crewmates and pointing out what they do aboard the ship. You smile and make conversation, though some of it is stilted and awkward, like you aren’t sure how to talk to someone so casually. You loosen up after a couple more drinks, and find yourself leaning against your new captain, bottom lip stuck between your teeth as you watch the crew’s antics.

“I don’t want to be a burden to you, Shanks. Do you think that you could teach me?”

Your voice is soft, breath featherlight against his skin, and Shanks thinks that he would do anything for you in that moment. Instead, he tips a bottle of rum up to his lips and takes a deep swig before he answers.

“Sure, sweetheart. What do you want to know?’

Your eyes burn with a sort of determination that the emperor doesn’t see often, and it makes anticipation well up in his chest as you lick your lips and look at him.

“Everything, Shanks. I want to know everything.”

He sets the bottle away so that he can give you his full attention. He can feel the air thicken, the winds and sea changing as he dips his head and reaches out to cup your face in his hand. He swipes his thumb along your jaw, then your chin, eyes never leaving your own.

“Then that’s what I’ll do, Doll. I’ll teach you how to live, yeah?”

Fucking finally Someone say something that needed to be said because they are not even trying to hide the fact that they are inserting their yoai fantasies and fetishes in season two brandon and Adam (despite those two being shitty writers themselves) and the voice actors are like the only reason why the show haven’t became a animated yaoi porn series

I'm genuinely surprised that not a lot of people outright say this, since it's so painfully clear that both Hazbin and Helluva became softcore yaoi fantasy roleplay sessions, given the abusive tendencies being treated as "hot" and "sexy" both in Hazbin and Helluva, and the fact that the only thing keeping Helluva from outright doing NSFW scenes with fully exposed cocks and balls is the fact that YouTube would restrict the episode immediately and penalize Viv by breaking YouTube's TOS (although, that doesn't stop others from uploading literal porn on YouTube, so... Yeah, I don't trust YouTube on this one), while Hazbin is actively held back thanks to Amazon, but somehow the infamous episode "Masquerade" managed to slide through the cracks of quality control, I mean, how tf did such an explicit and downright triggering episode got greenlit in the first place?!

I bought your 'Empire' the other day (which I am excited about; I haven't started it yet), but somehow completely missed that you had written historical fiction, and about the Plantagenets, my favourite historical dynasty, so I'll be jumping on that.

I was wondering if you had recommendations for historical fiction set during the Plantagenet reign? I've tried Sharon Kay Penman and unfortunately didn't get on with her writing, which is a shame as I've heard good things about her series. I know Philippa Gregory has several novels set during that time period, but her books seem to be verging on bodice rippers, which isn't what I'm looking for. Was just curious if you had any suggestions for well-researched fiction set during the Plantagenet reign.

This ask has been sitting in my inbox for several days (my apologies) largely because I was trying to think of a more helpful answer for you. Medieval historical fiction is VERY hit and miss for me, not least because it is often written by people who, uh, are not historians and thus have Certain Ideas (TM) about what the medieval period is like. Or they want to use various aesthetics, or they want to make some (usually questionable) point about how women were treated in the past, or they just go whole-hog on total nonsense. As an example of all of these things at once, let us all stare in horror at this recently-released book description together:

(The book is called the Stone Witch of Florence, by the way. I took one look at this and ran screaming. WHY.)

A stone witch?? So she channels the power of gemstones like a modern-day Instagram healing crystals influencer??? BUT ZOMGZ WITCHCRAFT. In the middle of the Black Death. "Unorthodox cures" you say. But they also need holy relics for protection, and I totally trust the author to understand about medieval hagiography/cult of the saints. Totally. We definitely won't get some half-baked comparison between Sekrit Women Magical Gems Which Really Work and Dark Ages Church Superstition Holy Relics Which Are A Fraud, or.... something??? And our nobly mistreated protagonist will super definitely be a real physician if she gets these and never ever accused of witchcraft (which LET US ALL SAY IT TOGETHER IS AN EARLY MODERN THING!!!!) Because medieval medicine was just a bunch of gemstone vibes anyway! Makes total sense!

...my head hurts.

Anyway, while not all examples are this egregious, the point is: I love historical fiction, but I almost always can't read it when it's set in the medieval era. I read Sharon Kay Penman a while ago and enjoyed her stuff at the time, though I have assorted gripes with it on a stylistic/historical level. While Philippa Gregory does have real academic credentials, she likewise has gone totally down the bodice-ripper alternate-history crackpot theory Secret Women Magic version of things, which is... fine if that's your jam, but just like you, it is not mine. I thus have to read fiction which is set in other periods or which I know less about or where at least I am more capable of turning off my brain and accepting things for the sake of the story. So as you see, I unfortunately don't have many useful suggestions for you in this field, since the kind of medieval historical fiction that I like to recommend is, say, The Name of the Rose. Which is terrific and written for someone of a professional medievalist's level of knowledge, but is not exactly everyone's cup of tea when they just want something fun and easy to understand.

I am, of course, happy to give other book recommendations if you'd like to broaden your request, and I'll do my best to think -- but yes! As I said, I wish I could be more helpful here. I shall persist.

hello I would like to know about goofsder,,,,

okay but fr goofsder is one of my favorites but with the current in game art for them I'm not exactly sure on what is being conveyed fully? Like I'm not really sure why they're standing now? I love them but I would love any insight/background you could provide (on webbounce too obviously!) also I love the game and pretty much all the creatures in it! the whole team did a great job!

So for starters - the general concept with Goofsder is that they're standing upside down and walking on their forefront arms as if theyre big clown shoes! Having the rest of their legs up in the air makes it easier for them to juggle. You'll notice that Webbounce are often practicing leaning on their front arms alone, and when they're finally acrobatic enough they go topsy turvy full time!

Many jumping spiders have thicker front-most legs that they often use to aim their leaps - raising those arms into the air and then leaping in that direction. Similarly a lot of people are familiar with peacock jumping spider displays, and those also involve a lot of noticeable gesturing with their arms.

Obviously Webbounce is very cute, but Goofsder was designed first! For my first ever design Greg asked me to make a "clown bug" that a lot of people would like (and not be afraid of), it made sense to lean on more human-feeling gestures to make them more charming, and I liked the idea that Goofsder was aware of that to some degree - The bug equivalent of putting on big white makeup so that people high in the audience can still see your expression.

Once we knew what was cute about Goofsder it was easy to make an adorable baby for them, but I think once the animations are in people will find it a more natural series of designs.

i currently have an idea for a series that i'd start posting sometime after i'm done posting the final part to touchy subject, and i was wondering if people are actually interested in something like that? it'd be sort of rafe cameron celebrity fake dating type thing with fluff, smut and angst (all nine yards), literally everything. i'm making it sound lame but what i have in mind is more interesting, i just don't wanna give too much away.

Hii!! This is in response to you asking what charles and carlos both did in the vegas gp!

I'm just gonna be completely fully objective here, bc rlly they didn't do anything wrong.

What happened was, a series of radio msgs between the team and Carlos occurred, in which they told him they were going to stay on Plan A (one pit-stop I think) instead of Plan C (2 pit-stops). Carlos argued back, saying they should be pitting and how he wanted to pit right now/ next lap. They said no.

At this point, Lewis is pressuring Carlos, and Charles is behind Lewis. I'm pretty sure george had already pit his second time and was still leading. Max and lando had also pitted a second time.

Anyway, the team finally listen and tell Carlos to come into the pits. However, they mess up and weren't ready and then tell him to stay out. Obv, Carlos is mad now. No matter, they pit him in the next lap.

4 laps later (or 2 I can't exactly recall) they pit Charles. The team tells Carlos not to pressure Charles. The team tells Charles that Carlos won't overtake him. You see where this is heading, don't you.

Charles comes out PARALLEL to Carlos (I think the team thought he'd come out ahead). Carlos' tyres ate 4 laps old. They're heated up. They're faster. Charles has absolutely new, dead, cold tyres. Carlos doesn't pressure him. He simply drives around.

The real dram started after the race when we all saw Charles' radio😭 Honestly, this is just a team problem not a driver problem.

Alot of ppl are saying they would've gotten better results if carlos let Charles ahead— they really wouldn't have. There was no way the ferraris would've caught up to those mercs.

ANYWAYY, there's my most objective views. Maybe, I'm.missing a few things but I'm negl the race was honestly so boring to ACTUALLY watch, like now there's drama but literally nothing was happening apart from this😭

I find it frustrating that people are blaming Carlos when it wasn’t Carlos’s fault at all, and I also find it frustrating that people think Charles’s meltdown was wrong. I keep saying this in every post but its clear as day that this was a ferrari problem not the drivers!

Mercedes was on a different level this weekend, they sure as hell were going to be 1-2, no doubt about that. And I get that Charles was trying to get p2 in the driver standings, but… 3-4 for constructors is literally phenomenal? I don’t see how Carlos isn’t a team player when this was the best outcome that could’ve happened. Besides his did better in qualifying anyway.

And I hate people mentioning old races like oh well Carlos moaned about this once… forget the past races, only focus on this one. Ugh, ferrari screwing over their drivers isn’t new but god, as someone who loves Carlos and Charles, I really hate seeing the fans tear each other apart.

Shifting Priorities

Thank you for all the nice comments yesterday! Some really helpful perspectives that gave me a lot of ideas on how I can tackle my simmer's block :)

Mostly, I think I need to trim down the number of neighbourhoods I consider "active" and the amount of projects I am doing in general. I have a hard time letting go of neighbourhoods, especially if I am still somewhat invested in them! But I also need to face the fact that I only have so much free time, and do not want playing the sims to be the sole thing I do with that free time XD

For some neighbourhoods I will also be trying out a more stripped-down approach to blogging, similar to what I've been doing with Driftwood. It makes me a little sad because I like my sims to feel fleshed out as characters and giving them voices is a big part of that! But maybe I can save the prose/dialogue for times when it is particularly needed, rather than including it as a default.

Finally, I am going to prioritise based on what I actually have the most fun with, rather than letting popularity drive my decisions!! Some neighbourhoods I feel sad about potentially retiring because I know people enjoy them, or I feel bad admitting I am never going to finish projects people were excited for, but I have to remember simming is something I do for myself, not for popularity or for other people.

So, plans for my neighbourhoods:

Pleasantview Plus - will continue in its current form for the most part, but holdholds I found less inspiring will just get short summaries rather than extensive documentation. This hood is waaaaaaay too big and I think not that many people follow it all that closely, but it's also my one true love and I would like to start prioritising it again rather than it always being on the backburner

Uberhood Challenge (YouTube Series) - This is a short-term series, and will continue as planned until I finish the challenge, which I'm over halfway through :)

Hollyhead - I hate to say it because I know a lot of people love it, but I feel like I have sorta outgrown this neighbourhood? Some simmers like their settings to be an escape from the real world, and when I made Hollyhead I think it was what I needed too, but these days I find how upbeat & wholesome it is a bit, idk, constraining?? I crave drama and conflict in my stories!! I also have kinda lost interest in the BACC rules and have started to find it more book-keeping and hassle for what I get out of it... Whenever I do open the neighbourhood I still really enjoy actually playing it, and I love the characters so much, but I just haven't found the events interesting enough to want to write about. I think this neighbourhood will not be retired completely (yet), but I will move towards writing much shorter updates in the form of newspaper articles and see if that helps. If by the end of this season I still feel ehhh about it, I might formally end it <3

Driftwood - no complaints about this hood, I'll probably continue with the current style of documenting major events & new builds only

Spruceburg (YouTube series) - I would like to do another season of this next year, after I finish the uberhood challenge! But I will probably go for a schedule of like, one season of series per year, rather than posting consistantly. I enjoy YouTube a lot, but its a lot of work too and I think has majorly taken away from my blogging time this year, which I am mourning now lol!!

The Fiero Legacy - it is probably time to throw in the towel with this and admit I just don't enjoy playing legacy style or with story progression that much! I always enjoy the period where the heir is dating but once they settle down and have kids it becomes a chore and a grind, plus with story progression's time system I always feel rushed and like I can't take a sim out of the house for an outing without potentially missing important milestones - the urban setting feels so wasted when its all family gameplay, haha. Hallie should be at the club!! It was an interesting experiment and a nice change of pace, but idk if I really see myself returning to it. I love the sims themselves and the setting, but whenever I actually load up the neighbourhood I just feel kinda stressed and overwhelmed :(

As for my building projects like Belladonna Cove, perhaps at some point I will get really inspired and return to them but for now they are on indefinite break. I remember saying a few time in the past that I didn't really feel much need to make over Pleasantview and Strangetown because if I wanted nice makoevers I would use frottanas, and tbh I feel the same way about Belladonna Cove - if I was playing it I would just use plumbtales makeovers XD With my past neighbourhood makeovers I was really inspired to make them because there wasn't anything out there that was exactly what I wanted but, well, there's loooooads of nice Belladonna cove makeovers these days so I just don't feel much drive to make my own version I guess?? I think I also have lost interest in building a little becasue I am no longer into super heavily decorated lots - I prefer lighter lots that won't cause lag lol! So yeah, I am probably not retiring from building forever but its no longer a priority for me :)

This is in response to @theinvisibledavis talking about (misogynistic) people attacking Kat, because they don't like Earth (as well as other female characters), and how they think that "the writing of the shows are bad"

Let me start with this: Before TSAMS and LAES, I haven't watched anything in a long time. Because personally, I am not a big fan of TV series, nor do I watch a lot of movies. But these shows and their characters have captured me. I have watched every single sams video this year, during a time span of about half a year (And let me tell you, my mental health was down the drain earlier this year. A day, where I could watch 12 videos in a row, felt just amazing to me. I am now in a much better and stable state. And TSBS has always been there along the way, as a means of comfort.) .

Now I am doing the same with LAES, and I am not any less interested in it. Their videos make me laugh my guts out, make me bawl my eyes out, or simply just let me relax and calm down after a long day at work. And it's all for free! With practically an unlimited amount of content! I, for a fact, know that I am not gonna run out of new videos to watch anytime soon. They upload daily after all! I am 100% sure, that I have still about 2 years worth left to watch. And with the continues uploads, it's probably more like 4 or even 5 years. And it's all just at the grasp of our hands! All of it!

I can't imagine how much blood, sweat and tears the actors must have put into their channels. This takes so much dedication, we can't even imagine the stress they must and have been going through, to make these shows and this fandom a reality! So we all must be grateful for their hard work. What is a few minutes of entertainment for us, is hours of work for them. We need to be thankful and show our support. It's the least that we can do.

So thank you Kat, Davis, Reed, Matt and all the other VAs of other shows that I haven't gotten to know yet. Thank you for your dedication to my and many other people's favourite shows. ❤

And @queenkatluv, if you ever read this: I hope you are okay and that your mental health hasn't taken too much of a blow from all the unnecessary hate, or that you will quickly recover from it. It must be difficult, but try to not take their mean words to heart. I don't have to listen to what they say, nor will I ever, because I know from the beginning on, that what they say is simply not fact. I don't really interact with the fandom, but they gotta be just the vocal minority. I'm sure the majority loves you and Earth.

You are amazing! Your acting is amazing! Your characters are amazing! Your writing is amazing! You deserve to rest well and take it easy. Eat your favorite meal as much as you wish. Have a nice bubble bath, or take a walk in nature if you prefer. Or both! Spend time with those that do you good. You deserve it all times infinity, because you are simply just amazing.

Earth is always so kind, helpful and empathetic towards others. What would she say to you? I'm sure you'll know, because you know her the best.

(Oh an by the way, the quality of The Vampire's Bride is chef's kiss to me. It's like a TV show, but the good kind.)

Despite the chaos of the holidays coming up, I really want to get to these next few pages! I'm not putting them out as fast as I'd like to but hearing how much you and other people enjoy it nonetheless means the world to me!

Keep "Legends Of Ocelot" afloat! There's SO much I want to do. But I cant do it all alone, and I cant do it without funds.

I'm looking to turn my passion into a real living and I'll need more as a result. If I'm going to be able to work more and my characters, I'll need more patrons and income so I can focus on my art. I'm looking to reach a goal that'll let me work as much as I can and produce even more pictures, comics and animatics in the future. You can support me here, on kofi, or Patreon. This series will take the characters into so many interesting places! And I need writers to get those adventures down for me to draw. To bring the whole thing to life. With rough blockers I could maybe even get it updated more regurlalry! You would have more to read, much sooner.

I really want to keep moving forward. Unfortunately since this is a big project, it is something that I will need help to do. I need collabrators. I have some many exciting stories I want to get done, and, its just really tough doing it. More support makes it smoother, thats a fact.

Finally watched episode 7 of DanDaDan. I'm not okay.

First off, before I have my text breakdown. This episode was absolutely GORGEOUSLY animated. It took me an hour to actually finish it bc I just kept replaying chunks to watch them again. DanDaDan absolutely COOKS with the character movements and camera angles/focuses! (AND OH MY GOD THE FIRST PERSON RUN SEQUENCES AAAAAAAAAAAAA HOW DID THEY EVEN DO THAT????)

(And goooood did I ever appreciate the CPR scene being treated dead serious, that was so well done.)

BUT MOVING ON. I knew this episode was going to be heart wrenching. I've seen all the posts of people who had already seen it. I went into it braced for the impact, or so I thought. I still was not prepared for it. Not even close. I'm STILL crying silent tears and having to stop and just bury my face into my pillow for a few seconds as I'm typing this.

(Putting a read more here for my semi-detailed venting about the rest of the episode, cause y'know, spoilers)

I still cannot get the screams of Silky's daughter out of my head. The terror of them and the pitch they hit shattered me. The abrupt shift from a string of quiet, loving scenes to the loud horror of Silky's past was just...wow.

I can't un-hear that broken little cry of "Okāsan-" buried in the screams as she vanished out the door.

I will never be able to not feel my heart breaking every time I think about how Silky's yokai form wore the dress she got for her daughter. I will never not be sick seeing the glass still in her arm too.

The final dance was so so so tragically beautiful, and I will never forget that final, awful thud after Silky's daughter thanked her for everything she did for her.

I want to hug my mother so hard right now. But I can't. Because I don't have her anymore. But I will be hugging my little niece super hard tomorrow, bc Silky's daughter made me think of her so much.

And I don't care how annoying Aira might get throughout the rest of the series. I will always love her for the kindness she showed Silky at the end, to let her rest in peace with her daughter.

I'm still a wreck. God. What a masterpiece of an episode. Sorry for the probably over the top venting but god I have so many emotions rn.

(Can't wait for the whiplash of whatever wacky stuff is gonna happen in episode 8 when I watch it after work tomorrow 🥲👍)

Okay i’m far too amazed by the idea of Nagito just kinda putting Makoto in his pocket to stop him telling anyone. One with a zipper. If anyone asks where he is, he makes up something about how his Kohai needed to be confined for his own safety or something. This doesn’t ring as false to anyone because thanks to his luck, Makoto has already had a few incidents in spite of Nagito’s care. Like he somehow wound up being menaced by a random crab that got in from the beach.

Or he got tossed in the trash once by someone thanks weird series of events that just put him in the wrong place at exactly the wrong moment.

Me:

Oh, he DEFINITELY gets menaced by a crab and thrown away! I love picturing Nagito scooping him up to safety and putting him on his shoulder. I like to imagine, in the heat of the investigation, they don't notice Makoto isn't there, but then during the trial, in that tense time when suspicions are already starting to point that way, Hajime suddenly looks at Nagito and asks, "Hey Nagito? Where's Makoto?"

Lololo Nagito responding that Hajime is making such a scary face right now…and then asks in an innocent tone of he’s suggesting Nagito did something awful to his darling little Kohai. He probably gives some disturbingly specific examples of what that awful thing could be. He doesn’t actually lie and say he did anything of the sort, he just throws the idea out there, and throws everything into chaos as people start jumping to conclusions

It takes someone more levelheaded…maybe Kyoko, Chiaki, or Hajime himself…to notice that Nagito keeps reaching up to cup his hand over one of his coat pockets (I’m picturing something on the inner lining that’s close to his heart) and when questioned about it directly he admits quickly enough that Makoto is in there. He was repeatedly checking to make sure he was still okay in there or just kinda to make soothing gestures/cover the fact that his pocket was wiggling.

Me:

YES! That exactly. And everyone is clamoring that clearly that means Nagito's the killer, and Nagito encourages this by refusing to let Makoto give testimony, but enough evidence remains unexplained that they're able to point to the actual killer eventually. When they reach the point where Nagito stops helping the killer and starts admitting stuff, he specifically mentions that Makoto was trying to stop him.

The first murderer in the Mini THH AU isn't Teruteru, for a few reasons.

First of all, I think Makoto would successfully convince Nagito not to instigate. He doesn't know that's what he's convincing him of, because he thinks they're having a regular, if slightly weird and intense, conversation about how things are going to go in this killing game.

Makoto takes it as a given that the goal is for no one to die, to which Nagito responds, "They're Ultimates. For them, the point isn't to just avoid hardship; it's to face it and best it in amazing ways that normal people never could. Those of them who do get to leave this island will be all the stronger and better for it."

And Makoto confronts all of this, and over the course of the conversation, he is able to reframe Nagito's idea of a success state to one where "overcoming the challenge" is managing not to kill, instead of beating the killing game by its established terms. This doesn't mean he isn't constantly getting involved in stuff, and he will still make the murders harder to solve once they happen (because the investigations and trials still make the Ultimates stronger/better), but it means he's slightly less of an instigator in-between murders.

Nagito not instigating the first kill means nothing pushes Teruteru to action. Teruteru's kouhai is Yasuhiro, and they both reinforce each other's deep denial, at least until the first kill happens.

Once a murder does take place, though, Nagito probably comes across the scene while it's still playing out and helps the murderer tidy up their tracks a bit, to Makoto's dismay. (Nagito puts him in his pocket so he can't snitch.)

And Nagito will still suggest that he himself should be a murder victim, because it wouldn't be right to let the Ultimates get murdered without offering himself up. He reassures Makoto, "Don't worry; Mikan will take good care of you when I die. You'll be in better hands with her, really." (But also, he sees how...increasingly obsessive Mikan is with her kouhai(s), so he might ask Hajime to take Makoto for him if he dies. Hajime agrees.)
