I just read all of Palmarosa yesterday and I am blown away by your character development. You are amazingly talented and I cannot wait for Chapter 29.

In good news I finished chapter 29 today! I also started chapter 30 (I really don't want those chapters coming too far apart because chapter 29 honestly ends in a really bleak/grim place), and got about 1000 words into that!

It's been really awesome to have a bit more time for Palmarosa again :D And I've started playing BG3 again which has really helped just for mentally holding the atmosphere in my head! Every time I see Raphael I get so stupidly excited lmao

I also love how you've written the reader's relationship with Doffy. I think the fact that you don't get into nitty gritty detail actually makes it more ominous because your mind has to fill in the blanks itself.

I've almost written the Doffy scenes, but after writing more for Law and the reader, I wanted to focus on them, and I'm glad I've managed to make Doffy ominous! That was the goal, he's a creeper, lol

The other reason I stopped myself when I started writing Doffy scenes is because 😨!! I haven't written/posted anything that dark before, and I don't think a lot of readers enjoying the sweet parts of the story would be down for that. Maybe I'll write them separately if there's enough request for it, but 😬😬😬

Doffy is big scary, and very concerning parts of my brain are activated near the heavenly demon. Plus, Law's my guy 🖤 I could never choose the giant, freaky flamingo man over my grumpy doctor 🥰🥰

But I can't promise that I won't write more bad Doffy moments in the story, just that I have stopped my brain from going as dark as it could go. He's such a great villain, and he's his own content warning 😅🦩

Oh my gosh thank you!!! I've been having more and more fun playing with their characters. I think I'm starting to get the appeal of the full alternate universe thing which I haven't really before. It's fun!!

If people have thoughts about the other characters and how they'd react, I'm super on board to discuss it! My thinking is that with a more terse and distant Spock making the ship sad, everyone would have a harder time relaxing and getting friendly. Also, Jim has no best buddy to humanise him so he just seems like this untouchable captain rather than the complex man he gets to be to his crew in tos. So while Uhura didn't need Bones to make her friendly, his absence is still impacting her. And everyone else ofc

In fact - Josh made the first move on Felix when they first met! Josh was working at a café and Felix was a customer, Josh found him attractive and scribbled his phone number on the bottom of his receipt for a bit of harmless flirting and fun.

Not really thinking much would come of it. (How wrong was he, right? Worst mistake.) Then the obsession kicked in.

If Felix had just called him back and arranged a date, Josh probably would have given him a chance. Instead he never heard back, never saw him again and Josh just totally forgot about the interaction and never thought about the customer again. Blissfully unaware that Felix went on to stalk him relentlessly for a year-

Finished it! A couple of months ago I started this pattern by @antisocialxconstruct / @craftsbyrom and I just finished up the last squares today. After the last cross stitch, this was pleasantly straightforward and very relaxing busy-work for my hands. The pattern is available digitally in it's Kofi shop for a minimum of a dollar (I've also bought that glitchy dog skull that I'll get around to eventually 👀).

Some technicalities etc below:

One tweak I made was at the very end I decided to try a tiny bit of backstitch to make the letters stand out, and for the most part I like the addition, but I'm still debating. The way it turned out on the Y has me tilting my head back and forth.

Here's the completed one before the backstitching:

I went with 3 strands instead of 4 like it did for the sample, but I think the coverage was still pretty good. Definitely needed at least the 3 for the dark areas to stay completely dark.

With 3 strands, most colors were okay with just 1 skein of DMC thread, but I did need to run to the shop to grab a few: - DMC 3814 - Aquamarine (I had less than a square inch left when I needed to get more ;3;) - DMC 02 - Tin - DMC 797 - Royal Blue

If I had done 4 stands I would have also needed a second DMC 939 for the very dark blue, because I have just about a foot left on my spool.

I'm debating what to do with it. The last one became a pillow, but this one is juuust a bit small to be a useful pillow. I might just do it anyway, sampler throw pillows aren't that weird after all, but I might also try to kind of rig a sort of frame and stretch it like a canvas? It could be nice up on the wall that way.

I am so sorry if i come off stupid with this ask but i’m not very educated on this topic and my english isn’t that good so pls dont take any offence but i’ve read some of ur fics (ur very skilled btw!!) and in some of them vox and alastor are depicted to be sexual at times but isn’t alastor acesexual? I used to think that ace ppl were repulsed(?) by sex and touch in general and now im a bit confused is he only comfortable with touch because they have a deep bond or is him being repulsed by touch just an act?

No worries at all, I think this is something that a lot of people get caught up on! Asexuality isn't very commonly talked about in terms of actually explanations, so a lot of folks tend to have the impression you did.

Asexuality is a spectrum that often correlates with but isn't actually inherently linked to comfort with touch! Asexual people can be sex-positive, sex-neutral, or sex-repulsed—or a combination of those three things depending on the context and their feelings at the time. I always write Alastor as aromantic and asexual, but I play around with his comfort levels regarding all those things depending on the fic or even how he feels in the moment, oscillating between sex-positive to fully touch-repulsed (or sometimes both, which causes some complicated feelings for him). (There are also demisexual and graysexual people but I'm just going to talk about asexuality here.)

I think a key point to understand is that for an asexual person to have sex, they're just going to have different reasons from an allosexual person. Alastor is never having sex in my radiostatic fics because he thinks Vox is hot and is super attracted to him (unlike Vox, whom I write as allo and who pretty consistently thinks Alastor is hot and wants to fuck him). Instead, some of the reasons he's slept with Vox in my works include: curiosity; societal pressure; nonsexual enjoyment of kink; sexual enjoyment of very specific acts (again, still not the same as "being sexually attracted to Vox"); seeking intimacy; being under the influence; etc.

If you think about it, allosexual people also have sex for reasons outside of sexual attraction. Lesbians may have sex with men out of social pressure or personal exploration; a lot of people have sex just because they're lonely and it's how they find intimacy; you can even imagine the stereotypical frat bro who has sex with a girl because he sees her as a status symbol; etc, etc. Just because someone is ace doesn't mean they can't have sex, it just means that their reason isn't going to be sexual attraction.
