if you were sober, maybe you'd have cared about the fact that this was the worst idea in the world, but the buzz from the bottles of wine you had split between three of your co-workers during a weekly girls' night didn't care even though it knew that this could very well lead to you being terminated. you simply stared out of the window at the passing, hazy streetlights in the back of a cab that smelled of booze even more than you did.

it all started a month ago, the events of that night also coincidentally caused by having one too many drinks. what started as casual drinks with your team after a case turned into stumbling into your apartment, your lips pressed against your unit chief's as the two of you couldn't get out of your clothes and into your bed faster.

what started with you falling asleep naked in his arms ended up with you waking up to a cold bed, empty of anything except for a note consisting of two words.

i'm sorry.

and the next time you saw him, hotch acted just like he always did, like the two of you had slept together, to the point that you could almost be convinced it didn't happen, except it was as if his touch had been engraved into your flesh, as if his fingerprints left permanent marks in their wake, as if you could still feel his lips press against your inner thigh, as if you could still feel him inside of you...

when the taxi pulled up in front of hotch's building, you handed the driver the money you owed, before heading inside. the entire elevator ride to his floor, your head kept screaming at you to stop, to turn around, that you were being an idiot. but it was as if your body had a mind of its own, because your feet led you to his door, and your hand balled into a fist and knocked without even realizing what you were doing.

the door was pulled open, and you were faced with a familiar figure; it was one in the morning, but he was still wearing his suit, having ditched the jacket and tie, the top buttons undone. the black-haired man wasn't one to show much emotion, but you could see his eyebrow twitch slightly, making it clear that he was as confused about why you were here as you were.

"agent, what-"

but before aaron could finish his sentence, your legs had moved on their own, had made you press yourself into him as you let out soft sniffles. the man let out a small sigh, wrapping his arms around you as quiet, warm tears began to run down your cheeks. one of his hands went to the back of your head, holding you closer as he stroked your hair.

"come on." he mumbled quietly, leading you over to the couch. aaron sat you down, one of his arms still around you, pulling back slightly to look at your face, one of his calloused hands reaching out to wipe away the tears, "what's going on?" he asked in his gruff voice, trying to say it as gently as possible.

"is there something wrong with me...?" you asked quietly, avoiding looking at his face, into the eyes that you remember gazing into that night. he lifted your head up by your chin.

"there's nothing wrong with you."

"then why did you just leave?" you countered, making aaron let out a sigh, bringing his fingers to pinch the bridge of his nose. "it has nothing to do with there being something wrong with you, and everything with you working for me."

you swallow the bitter taste in your throat, "do you regret it...?"

"i... i don't know." aaron said, tugging you close to him as another tear ran down your cheek, but this time the man didn't wipe it away. "it's complicated. i don't regret it, but i don't think it should've happened."

"i don't regret it." you sniffled, wiping the tear away yourself, "and i'm glad it happened. why do you keep acting like it didn't happen?"

"because... if i don't, then i'd have to admit to myself that i wish it happened again."

you don't think you'd ever been as stunned as you were when those words left his lips, your head spinning at his words, "you... you wish it happened again?"

"i wish it could happen again." aaron sighed again, leaning his head back on the sofa cushion, staring up at the ceiling, "but it can't. we both know it can't."

you curl into his chest and closed your eyes, letting out a small hum. you agreed. it should've never happened in the first place. but you couldn't help but want it to happen again, and again. you listened to the steady beat of aaron's heart, your mascara tears surely leaving stains in his button-down, his thumb stroking your back in a soothing motion, pressing a kiss on top of your head. and the last thing you heard before you fell asleep were three little words that would mean nothing to anyone else but everything to you.

What are the rules?

You can only draw Donatello for this years contest. Doesn't matter the iteration (Rottmnt, TMNT 2012, or Mutant Mayhem/Tottmnt). And he must be drawn reading!! Doesn't matter what; a comic, a book, on the phone, but he HAS to be reading. This is a fanfic blog after all!!

2. Artwork MUST be square!! Otherwise I can't use it!! Size doesn't matter as much, as tumblr seems to let me use any image I'd like. But it has to be square.

3. Has to be a canon iteration turtle. No fan iterations. As much as I'd love that, lets keep it to only canon to keep it fair. Future turtles, and design headcanons are allowed though!!

4. You may submit up to three pieces!! One per iteration!

honestly, i am very much with you about not really liking hollyt/aya.

it feels like. im a hollyberry fan and i rarely if ever see people analyze her character or say something about her, even in the context of that ship. and same thing with pitaya. even on ao3, most of the fics tagged as ho.llytaya just have them as background characters while the main ship is what the story is actually about.

i completely understand your distaste, and my distaste comes from the fact that people treat that ship like it's their obligatory ship to have to prove that they think about characters that don't use he/him pronouns in english.

I'm feeling kind of unhappy today and I let that influence me to ramble semi-coherently. TL;DR is Hollytaya is dumb, boring slop that further perpetuates Pitaya's ongoing character assassination in Kingdom and I deeply resent its popularity, especially when its fans often mock and malign Beast x Ancient when they are literally the exact same shit, but Hollytaya is good and acceptable because (insert lame excuse here). But whatever, I don't really care at the end of the day, I know and like plenty of people who ship it and it's no skin off my nose. My opinions are just that, opinions. You do you, friends. Have fun without me

I just don't really understand Hollytaya. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone when I first went online after finishing the Red Dragon arc and got bombarded with ship art. I don't see anything and never have. Do I need new glasses or something

You'd think I would like Hollytaya, since it pretty much is just BurningCheese in a different costume. But I don't. In fact, Hollytaya sickens me. It was the first tag I ever blocked on this site lol. I hate even remembering it's a ship that exists at all. It just rubs me in the worst way possible and I struggle to even put how or why into words. It's as though it's simply a trait passed down from my distant ancestors and whatever the reason for it existing was was lost to time eons ago. Some primal repulsion. Fighting a centuries old blood feud when you hardly even remember why anymore.

Pitaya acts like a child. Hollyberry treats him like a child. I do not see how romance could bloom in a dynamic like that. All Pitaya ever does is act like a spoiled brat. A whiny dimwit. And Hollyberry behaves accordingly, in my eyes. Why would you want to date the person you basically have to mother every time you meet. "If you won't stop terrorizing my kingdom I'll never spar with you again" the tone with which she said that to him was like a schoolteacher scolding a tantruming 5 year old. Maybe I have different ears than everyone else idk. (You really don't understand how frustrated I am with how Pitaya is characterized in Kingdom. Look at Ovenbreak, it's like night and day. What the fuck did they do to them. Look how they massacred my boy. And as far as I'm concerned, Hollytaya only serves to further ruin Pitaya's character, because it and every depiction I've ever seen only leans into that character ruination. And I can't even blame people too much for that, because the game itself makes it seem like Pitaya's entire fucking existence revolves around Holly and wanting to fight Holly. There is literally nothing else to him as a person, and Holly honestly isn't even all that much better tbh. Holly is a jolly drunkard who takes nothing seriously and has a happy dandy life while everyone else around her suffers tremendously (I know that's not true, I know there's so much more to Holly, but Holly's development has been massively neglected to the point that she almost seems one-dimensional compared to the other Ancients) and Pitaya is her pet dog. It's a fucking disgrace)

All the fanart is the same. Just the same shit every time. All anyone ever does is make Pitaya a dumb simp and Holly the big strong woman in charge (and always taller than Pitaya for some reason. Why are you all afraid of Tall Pitaya. What's this unconscious need to drag Pitaya as far down beneath Holly as possible in any way possible. They're a fucking dragon, just let them be tall. Holly doesn't lose her worth if she's shorter than Pitaya lol). Never seen a single person ever actually address that Pitaya has committed actual crimes against Holly, her family and her kingdom, and has never said or done anything to apologize or atone. Never seen anyone acknowledge that Holly should have to morally and psychologically struggle with wanting to be with someone that personally threatened to kill her son and granddaughter. Never seen anyone acknowledge that Holly would be shunned by her people for basically romancing their dictator and would-be killer, and her friends would question her sanity and integrity. I can do that shit with GC and BS (and Holly and Eternal Sugar, for that matter), why can't anyone do it for Holly and Pitaya? Hollytaya is the not-yaoi equivalent of yaoi slop to me. It's fucking dumb and boring. I see Hollytaya randomly appear before my eyes somewhere and I remember what was done to ShadowVanilla. Except Shadowvanilla wasn't always slop, it got turned into it by new fans. Meanwhile that is what Hollytaya always was from day 1 and you can't convince me otherwise

Holly and Pitaya have nothing to offer each other romantically. Nothing that a simple friendship can't also provide. I just like them as friends. Brother from another mother. Sister from another mister. I think of them and I remember Mona-Lisa and Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec or some funny friend/sibling relationship like that. That's enough for me and I don't understand why it isn't enough for anyone else. (They've repeatedly referred to each other as "friend" anyway. They've already friendzoned each other lol. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.)

It's one thing to have to endure its unfortunate popularity, and like there's nowhere I can go to escape it and no one to talk to who doesn't like it either. Hollytaya almost feels mandatory to some extent. I feel the phantom sensation of the barrel of a gun burrowing into the back of my head whenever I'm forced to see it again because a mutual or someone I follow reblogged something (and I can't just click "not interested" like I usually do, you can't do that with reblogs). Triply so not only because I ship them both with other characters, but also because I ship Pitaya with Fire Spirit, when the fandom just randomly declared them parent and child and routinely attacks anyone that interprets them differently. This ship makes me feel so alone. Like the one black sheep in a sea of white.

It's another thing to see so many fans be so hypocritical about it. Huge chunk of Hollytaya fans I've seen will turn around and decry Beast x Ancient when that is literally what Hollytaya is. Zero irony or self-awareness. And I mean, fine. Whatever. Be that way. Lord knows I'm not all that different. Just don't be a dick about it. Which a lot of them are lol. A lot of them are the same ones that will actively harass Beast x Ancient fans, because you know. BurningCheese is toxic but Hollytaya isn't. Somehow. For some reason. (I've genuinely tried so hard to understand that and I can't lol. By all accounts, the fandom should hate Hollytaya because it fits the criteria for "toxic" and "abusive". But they don't. It's one of the most popular ships. Because? Because. Just because. No actual reason listed. I get the impression that a lot of people in this fandom don't think things through often lol)

Idk man. PitayaFire is vastly superior to me. Pitaya's and Fire Spirit's deep flaws and hidden virtues mesh so much better together. They have more to give and more to take from each other. The foundation of their relationship is already so fascinating. The fact that this ship is slept on the way it is is so wild to me. Where have any of you been. What's going on with you guys. PitayaFire is peak real estate for angst and tension and character exploration. Why y'all gotta leave me hanging like this. I'm not crazy I swear

But... whatever. I say all of this and end it with "ship what you want it's not my problem". Because it honestly isn't. As annoyed as I sound, I really don't pay ships I don't like much thought unless prompted, like with asks like this one. I blocked the tags forever ago and just click "not interested" if they show up on my dash. I don't go looking for content because it's not for me. And I don't go out of my way to bother anyone who likes Hollytaya or whatever else I don't because that's shitty and a waste of time. They're talking cookies who honestly gives a fuck. Do whatever so long as it isn't adult x minor or something equally inexcusable. I have plenty of friends and mutuals and followers that like Hollytaya and I don't think any less of them for it. I still like and cherish them. I'd be an awfully lonely person if I turned away everyone who liked something I don't. That's a terrible way to live, nobody should do that.

And of course, everyone is welcome to disgree and/or ignore me. I'm just a random weirdo on Tumblr, my opinions aren't the law lol. Doesn't actually mean anything to me if someone doesn't like BurningCheese or PitayaFire, so it shouldn't mean anything to anyone if I don't like Hollytaya. We all have more important things to care about than that

he didn't even think twice about fusing sign language into the conversation. in ithuriel's mind, it wasn't something that they should've been thanked for. so they simply nodded when the reaper made note of it and offered up a small smile. there was a reason why he had access to so many languages. it was to be able to use them in conversations like these, to be able to better communicate with someone. if he could make it easier for someone, then why wouldn't he? they were always under the mentality that their powers weren't the only gifts they possessed. communication was another.

people that were around for centuries always had interesting takes when it came to life and time. the angel thought it had something to do with who they were too. for a phoenix, he assumed that time could pass by quickly. mainly because they were constantly reincarnated. for the reaper, it didn't seem to go by slowly either. for ithuriel? it was something in between. two hundred years ago felt just like yesterday. yet he also felt like he was much older than what he really was. “have you ever written down journals? i once met this demon that had a different journal for each century they were alive. that way they got to pinpoint it down to the century at least.” although everyone was valued with how they processed it. “time in portum is different though. for me it's a push and pull. here things slow down for me, but up in heaven it's like i'm watching five years pass in five seconds.” 

they picked up the rosary and shoved it into their pocket. then, they also took their mug with them and joined heng in their booth. ithuriel comfortably sat down across from them to continue the conversation, happy that hey were now closer. “i feel the same way in an odd sense. if i loss my divinity in this process, then what is setting me apart from a human?” brows perked up as he thought about the question to himself. “the static of the radio that never seems to get any louder or closer, but you always hear it. we're going to have to start walking around with tags that says what species we are.” they couldn't help but chuckle at the idea. “the farthest i've went this week is some place in egypt. now i'm back though.” he smiled softly at the introduction. “nice to meet you. my name is ithuriel,” then he signed the word for spear. “my vessel's name is orion.” for that one, he didn't have a special sign for just yet.

The reaper wouldn’t say they were surprised by the addition of the sign language to the conversation, but they were heavily thankful. As someone who had always had trouble with intimacy, spending too much time staring at another person would often make Zhang Heng extremely uncomfortable, that’s why they hardly ever stepped out of the house (or–wherever they were, really) without their hearing aids. Their lack of hearing was something immortality hadn’t been able to fix, and maybe, deep down, they didn’t want that to be fixed. A part of their humanity still lingering with them. A sign that they had roamed this earth as a mortal being, capable of falling ill and of dying.

“Thank you.” The reaper signed, in thanks for the kindness of the angel to use sign language to communicate with them. And then, as Ithuriel asked his question, Heng noticed their brows had furrowed a little, deep in thought about the answer. “No, I do not think it moves slowly.” They replied, finally. “Time has become an abstract notion for me, I think. Five hundred years seemed closer than five weeks, sometimes. Memories get blurred into one another, at times. Meditating helps me sort them out.” Not that they spent that much time meditating, but living in a quiet world sometimes also helped sorting out memories. “I think the world is changing fast around us. If anything, time is moving faster than before.” Once they were done, Heng wiped the sweat off their glass and signed the question to the angel. “How is it like to you?”

It occurred to them that they had been in the middle of Rosie’s diner, chatting from two separate tables, so, between their question and Ithuriel’s next comment, Heng signed for the angel to join them at their table. That way, it would give other patrons a table to seat in case the place got packed. “Yes. Their humanity is–unsettling to say the least. I think that is why my child is having trouble with his powers, too.” They shared. “If a ghost’s soul is not there, the silence is awful. It feels like a buzzing sound that never goes away. And you can’t find out where it’s coming from, but it’s there.” Usually the quiet one, Zhang Heng realized they’d been sharing too much, and, if they were actually using words, their throat would probably be dry by now. “Have you been wandering far from Portum? Pardon–I do not believe we have met. I’m Heng. Heng Zhang. My name sign is–” They used the sign for eternity, which, was similar to what their name had meant. Heng. Eternal.

listen. people have always debated which character is the most normal guy but what if it has in fact been crowley the whole time. no string pulling no master plan just a guy who wants to keep his school running and is cursed with problematic students and incidents

honestly I think the funniest possible reveal would be one of two options:

ONE: Crowley has no plot relevance whatsoever. he wears the mask to cover his receding hairline. his darkest secret is the bottle of "medicinal" whiskey under his desk. this man can barely plan a PTA function with six months' advance notice, he doesn't have the time or patience for any kind of overarching master plot involving mutating students or whatever. the only thing wrong with him is that he's been running this school for (mumblemumble) years and, quite frankly, if you'd been putting up with NRC students for a couple of centuries, you'd have totally checked out by this point too.

TWO: Crowley IS actually Raverne and HAS been slowly enacting a master gambit...to embezzle school funds. the overblots are still completely incidental. he has somehow less idea of what's going on than we do. we confront him about it and he's just like

Organizing an event of this magnitude and in this format was somewhat of a new experience for me, I must admit. The road was a bit bumpy even with all the precautions I took, but we made it in the end! I am proud to present you all the fruits of our collective labors - this collage.

idk if this is a hot take but I don't think Armin is friendly. I think people find him generally off-putting. Like, people think he looks sweet, but also find him strange; for the topics that interest him, the way he didn't stray far from Eren (& Mikasa) socially, and his general demeanor.

I think that as Armin established himself more as he grew up, he developed better interpersonal skills that compliment his rhetorical prowess. I think he's the type of person who sees value in life and in minimizing harm. He offers kindness to his friends and understanding to all. But I don't see him as particularly "friendly"

it's sometimes so silly to look in the notes of a polyamory art/post and see people like "is this cheating art....?" when the characters in canon are all extremely close friends. i know it's not malicious because most people think of monogamy as the default and anything outside that Must be cheating, but truly i'm always like. guys. guys Please.

under what circumstances do we think this non-canon couple might hold hands directly in front of their canon partners. and under what circumstances do we think the canon partners might be okay with this. do we Truly think this is a secret relationship. do we Truly think these guys would sneak around behind their canon partners' backs when all of them are extremely close friends with a high level of trust and commitment to each other.

I think veilguard might be the one game with an unlimited sprint button that I've nevertheless spent the most time gently jogging and walking through. just to like... look at things. hang out. vibe. the environments in this game are so fucking good
