Paul took my hand in his, we both shivered, I don't think I'll ever get used to feeling the heat of his skin. He probably felt the same with my coldness. 

He closed the door behind me, and started to pull me towards his living room. 

"Would you wanna watch a movie?" He asked, sitting on the couch, he put his feet up on the table and got himself comfortable. I smiled and sat next to him, but he reached over and pulled me to him. I landed on his chest, and got comfortable, our legs were tangled, and my head was resting on his chest, and his arm was around me. 

He grabbed the remote and put on a random film. 

"I'm not hurting you right?" I ask, he laughed and I felt his whole body move and hold on tighter to me. 

"Super strength remember" He chuckled. I smiled and rested even further into Paul, this was perfect. Maybe we were made for one another, a vampire couldn't be with a human, but Paul was perfect. He wouldn't be hurt my strength, we were equal. I really loved him... 

"What?" I heard him mutter, I looked up, eyes wide. If I could blush, I'm sure my face would be incredibly red right now.

"Did you say you loved me?" He asked. I closed my eyes and nodded. What if he didn't feel the same. What if ultimately, he couldn't love a vampire. His mortal enemy, a blood sucker...

"I love you too" He whispered, I smiled and leant forward and planted my lips on his. 

"I really love you Paul" I say against his lips. 

"And I really love you" He said, smiling down at me. His eyes looked heavy as he said it, I could feel the love he felt for me, it overwhelmed me, it warmed me all over as I felt the love travel throughout my body. 

"I'm so tired" He said, and then yawned "I had to patrol after the wedding and it took the energy from me" 

"Sleep then" I smiled, tracing shapes into his chest. 

"Stay with me?" He asks, in a quiet voice. I smiled at him, he seemed so vulnerable right now. I watched his face closely, watching his eyes droop, and sleep take over. 

I wish I could sleep, I've forgotten what it's like to sleep, and dream. I wonder if Edward wishes he could see Bella's dreams, the way I wanted to see Paul's.

A few hours later, Paul woke up, I hadn't moved from my position, perks of being a vampire, you don't get uncomfortable. 

"Hmm hey" He said in a deep husky voice, that made me go weak. He moved forehead and kissed my head. 

"You hungry?" He asked, and then realised what he said and made a cutesy face to me. I got off from him and let him leave the couch.

"What was your favourite food when you were human?" Paul yelled from the kitchen, I grimaced at the volume of his voice. Con of being a vampire, everything is extra loud. I jumped up, and sped to the kitchen, making Paul jump. 

"I can't remember, there wasn't as much option back then and we were not the richest" I start "I remember liking coffee though"

Paul chuckled and picked up his mug, tilted it to me and drank from it. 

"What would happen if you did eat?" He asked. 

"It would be really painful, my body can't digest it like you can" I explain, thinking about the pain, I ate an apple, maybe 100 years ago, and it hurt so much, for days I couldn't move. 

Paul smiled at me and started opening his cupboards and pulling out food, a lot of food.

"Have your siblings got superpowers?" He asked, I laughed because he called them superpowers. 

I nodded. 

"Yes, Jasper can control your moods, which is wonderful, because he calms me down when I need it" I explain, and Paul's face looked a little angry for a second. 

"Alice can see the future" I say, Paul interrupts me quickly. 

"Can she see our future?" He asks, I smile at the thought of a future together. 

"No, she can't see wolves, and Edward can read minds, as you probably know" I smile. He looked uneasy for a second. I suppose it's weird to know that vampires can have powers. Makes them harder to fight maybe?

 "In a few days, we're gonna all go to the beach, the wolves and their imprintees" Paul explained, shovelling more food into his mouth. "And, I told them I was going to invite you"

He smiled shyly at me. 

"I'd love to go, if you want me too" I say 

"Yes, I'd love for you to come, you can meet the guys and Leah, and the other girls, it should be really fun" He explains, excitedly. "Though we'll have to deal with a mopey Jake" He laughs. 

"Can't wait" I giggle, taking his hand to go back to the living room, to carry on with our movie watching and cuddles. And probably Paul napping again...

Girlfriend is a red diamond. Boyfriend is a peridot. Pico is a green spinel.

GIRLFRIEND:

Went with a diamond cuz of the status thing. I am almost worried it feels like too easy of a pull but I doonnn't care I think it'd be fun if she was a diamond. :) Red obviously because it's her color.

Playing off the status thing; ofc her parents would also be diamonds and so you can have the reasoning of "oh this isn't a high-rank gem" for them not liking Boyf. I mean if you need any reasoning aside from them just being unreasonable LOL but that's always there.

Placement on her chest because !! love !!!! That's also why it's a heart-shaped cut instead of a. Diamond shape.

My backup assignment for her would be a jasper because I think it'd suit her well to be any quartz, and with jasper you can get close to her reds !! The status thing is really what made me decide on a diamond tho.

As I type this I realize there are some vaaaguee similarities to Pink I could pull as extra reasoning but shruuuugs my brain is NOT in an analytical mood rn so I'll just let others chew on that for me.

This isn't really relevant to RGB but I wanna mention it: I think it'd be funny if the demon henchmen were rubies.

BOYFRIEND:

The biggest factor for me going peridot with him is the fact that a common headcanon for canon Peridot is that she's autistic and while I mostly work with ADHD Boyf myself (since that's the experience I can pull from personally)... I am a sucker for a good autistic/AuDHD read with him.

This man is short and Era 2 peridots are short. If I drew him SU style this guy would need limb enhancers. lol

Instead of a prohibition symbol his shirt has the outline of a star. I just find that neat. :)

He would sooooooo suck at a peridot's role but also iirc in canon he's a college drop out anyways so it cancels out. He's got that Greg Universe in him.

Honestly, I put his gem placement on the back of his hand bc I had no clue where else to put it. My secondary placement for it would be on his forehead bc it'd make me giggle with him being Dumb but canon Peridot already has the forehead placement so I didn't go ahead with that.

HE STOLE PICO'S GREEN SPOT. spritzing him with water like a naughty dog BAD BOYFRIEND.

PICO:

This is my little indulgent one I really. I really love canon Spinel. This is tangential but like I literally have 4 spinel OCs and then another 4 furry OCs with designs based on canon Spinel. The urge to make One Of Them a spinel was going to be there.

The juxtaposition of him being a gem with an entertainer role and also a hard-ass hitman makes me giggle. Idk I feel like if you already know canon Spinel then you can probably connect the dots as to why I'd imagine him as a spinel as well.

Heart cut because I find it cute and it matches GF. I think a spade shape could be fun too but idk I prefer just going with a heart. Placement on his upper back because. :) Because he can't easily shield it from damage that way. Thoughts On The D20 Campaigns I've Watched Thus Far

This is by no means completely exhaustive, it's a mere summary of my absolute BRAINWORMS about this show. Been a long time coming, this one. Under the cut because this is a LONG ONE.

A Crown Of Candy: First campaign I watched. I loved the stakes and how complex these characters were. Brennan getting his murder on was something I didn't expect to like as much as I did. The sets? the design? INCREDIBLE. I want to build Calorum in Minecraft. I bingewatched it and it hurt so badly but I loved it. It was all the bits of Game of Thrones I liked without the bits I don't.

You almost forgot one of the major villains WASN'T made of broccoli. Almost. That levity was sorely needed and it came at very important times.

Ravening War: Watched the Calorum campaigns pretty close together. Found it fascinating how Matt's GM style meshed with the PCs. It felt like the House Of The Dragon to ACOC's Game of Thrones. In the best way. Lou Wilson being actively involved in killing his previous character's own parents. Deus Pa'zuul giving horror and kind of grindhouse energy. Reminded me of a show I like.

A Court Of Fey And Flowers: REGENCY YEARNING. Ruehob! THE COUSINS! Andhera being a constant mood! Aabria serving absolute LOOKS every episode! Loved it. Laughed my ass off and got weirdly invested simultaneously. Really good regency love stories are my absolute kryptonite.

Was introduced by the concept of 'The Goblin Code Of Chivalry' and expected pure comedy. Was wrong. This campaign wrenched my heart out of my chest and restored my faith in love. Also, sidebar: I need to GM or play Good Society these days. Holy shit. I love RP games.

Neverafter: I am spooked senseless and delighted. The fights in this one feel so tense, comparable to ACOC but in a very different sense. I'm a sucker for a really good Fractured Fairy Tale but it has to be very specifically done. The red tokens mechanic made me so happy when I learned how it worked in the finale which I won't spoil but I thought it was a really fun mechanic.

The evolutions of the characters with death was absolutely fascinating. Zac Oyama is now forever a cat to me I'm sorry. And I am blown away by the editing of this season. And Brennan's E1 'make a wisdom saving throw' to Ally out of nowhere is something I enjoyed. It has impacted significantly on my DMing style a LOT as I am someone who likes sharp left turns into horror.

Burrow's End: Currently watching so I can't expand fully on the season but liking it so far! Jasper Cartwright is delightful (he is excellent on Oxventure when he guests on that show which is where I know him from.) The characters all feel so rich and there is clearly something deeply unsettling behind these lovely forest creatures. Never fully understood the Humans Are Cthulhu trope until now. Aabria yet again brings an absolute banger of a campaign and I cannot WAIT to carry on with it

Sorry for the long post, everyone. I'd absolutely recommend 'You Awaken In A Strange Place' on Oxventure for D20 enjoyers who favour the chaotic. It slays me in the best way.

A story of loss, love, and learning to live again. I love how careful and tender the different ways of coping with grief are portrayed. Plus, Andrea runs a café, Carlos runs a book club and TK finds his way into being a paramedic.

You Keep Coming Back With A Bird In Your Teeth by vaguenotion S: When a gesture of goodwill is misinterpreted, a patient begins to develop a dangerous attachment to TK. The whole point of the job is to save patients, not to have to be saved FROM them. what can I say but that I chew my arm off each time this is updated. Absolutely love the characterizations, the dialogues and the goddamn tension.

your gentle hands are stained with the blood of anothers by @birdclowns S: Denton Miller was Carlos' first case after being promoted to detective. The serial killer has escaped, throwing Carlos and his loved ones into his game as the next unwilling participants. The stakes are impossibly higher and the rules have changed - it's his husband on the other side of the screen. Such a sucker for a kidnapping story and a cat-and-mouse game and Jasper masterfully strikes a line between scary and intimate i language and plot.

see a friend (see a ghost) by @ambiguouspenny S: TK would always come home to him. It was a dinner table promise wrapped in explicit truth; a vow Carlos would bet his life on. A choice made at the edge of tragedy leaves Carlos living in the aftermath. TK tries to make it right. Weeping, letting the vivid details and the mystery and punchy dialogue keep me up at night.

Where All This Love Comes From by @carlos-in-glasses

S: Six months after Gabriel Reyes’ death, TK grows concerned about Carlos’ drinking and brings him to a meeting at the Y. TK reflects on meeting Carlos after years of addiction and self-destruction, while Carlos has continued to seek closure by uncovering two unknowns: The identity of his father’s killer, and how his father truly felt about Carlos as his son. I recommend anyyything cig writes, because I'm hopelessly devoted to her writing. Anything I read by her is nuanced, poetic, so insightful and heart-wrenching. This only has one chapter but a dialogue that punched me right in the heart.

S: TK is left with custody of his five-year-old brother, Jonah. With Owen's encouragement, TK moves to Austin for a fresh start, questioning every move he makes as he's thrust into the role of parenthood. It reads like a warm hug to see TK growing into the role of a parental figure and Carlos be a teacher and read both of them so gone over the other.

The descriptions of Carlos practicing magic is seriously making me weep with jealousy. And the growing love between them in this and the sequel is magic itself.

S: TK Strand hasn’t known Carlos Reyes for very long. He’s slept with him, run out on his attempt at getting to know him better, and been processed by him after an arrest. The absolute tenderness of this and the rawness of emotions just rubs me open in the best way on each re-read.

Split between their friendship in childhood and the path that should set them up as enemies, this is such a beautiful story of kinship and eternal love to me. I just adore how Andie writes TK and Carlos - in love in any and all universes.

Carlisle - Of course Carlisle likes older movies. There's no real genre, but if it's in black and white then he's probably a fan. He really adores the classics, and some of his favorites are Citizen Kane, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Maltese Falcon.

Esme - Esme is such a sucker for romance of all kinds, but classic romance can bring her to her knees. She loves a bittersweet ending, and she is TOTALLY a hallmark Christmas movie mom. She was a die hard Casablanca fan and a year cannot pass without her watching It's A Wonderful Life at least four times. Anything that makes her heart ache, she adores.

Edward - This dramatic asshole. Claims that he really only likes inspirational foreign French films because of the ~drama~ but you know what??? he secretly watches romance movies with Esme, not that it's actually a secret because everyone already knows. Pretty Woman? Yes. 10 Things I Hate About You? Absolutely. If he had the ability to cry, he definitely would have after watching A Walk to Remember.

Rosalie - Rosalie likes sci-fi and fantasy movies. Labyrinth is a special favorite, though it might be because of her crush on David Bowie. She was surprised at how much she enjoyed The Shape of Water, but you're more likely going to find her watching something like Close Encounters of the Third Kind or The Princess Bride.

Emmett - Emmett dabbles in movies - he really likes a bit of everything. Drama, comedy, action, fantasy - he wouldn't say he actually has a favorite. He thinks comedy might take precedence; he's a huge fan of anything by Mel Brooks.

Jasper - He hates how stereotypical it is, but he loves Westerns. He's seen pretty much everything that John Wayne has ever been in. Really, anything to do with history will be ok for him to watch, though it took him a while to be comfortable with some of the Civil War era movies. Loves The Patriot and Braveheart, though he isn't a fan of Mel Gibson, and Black Beauty has a special place in his heart.

Alice - Alice likes all of those corny teen romance films, like Princess Diaries or She's the Man. She isn't sure why, but they really make her happy!! They're always so cute and quirky, she adores them so much.

Jasper's Barely-Hinged Discord Scorpion Rant

Alright, context, I started this rant because I was mad about how the tlincallis (of Dungeons and Dragons second and fifth edition) were designed and handled. I put my foot down at the point where they were reported to have eggs. No, I refuse to accept this.

PLEASE NOTE! While I will not be showing any actual images of real-life scorpions, there will be drawings of them and drawings of fantasy and sci-fi characters inspired by scorpions. Some of them are even weirder-looking than actual scorpions. Fellow arachnophobes, continue at your own risk.

We are also going to be talking about scorpion sex in the context of how they mate and launch babies out. This is my second Tumblr post on the subject and I'm afraid that this might become a repeating pattern. Everyone on Tumblr thinks I'm the scorpion person now.

With that said, have this barely-edited compilation of my feral Discord messages on the subject.

You can tell someone who doesn’t know a lot about scorpions wrote the lore for the tlincallis because there’s a heavy emphasis on egg-laying for their reproduction. Meanwhile, scorpions are one of the only arachnids that give live birth.

I’m not expecting WOTC writers to watch videos of scorpions molting or launching baby missiles over and over again, but I am expecting them to at least skim the Wikipedia article, ya know? I understand that I’m Scorpion Research Georg, but still.

Scorpions fuck weird. Both “sexes” have the same thing - an orfice known as the genital operculum (plural: genital opercula). In order to reproduce, the male will drop a sperm packet on the ground and “dance” with the female to lead her over it. If she’s game, she’ll squat and just kind of vacuum it up into her genital operculum. This is followed by what is called a “mating plug” to keep the sperm inside. The two scorpions will then split away from each other, because scorpions don’t believe in cuddles and aftercare.

Then we get to the actual birth. Or as I like to call it, the Fedex packages.

A scorpion will give birth to between 3 and 100 young, depending on the species - though notably, the size of the scorpion does not impact the number of babies they can have.

The babies are folded up very nicely inside of the mother, and when she gives birth to them, they launch out like little missiles into her waiting pedipalps and front legs, unfold, and then climb onto or are placed onto her back while their next sibling is launched. A mother scorpion is actually a super good parent, and the entire brood will attach to her with little suckers on their tarsi, because they can’t eat or sting yet.

Depending on the species, it will take between 5 and 25 days for them to undergo their first molt - in unison as a brood, taking between 6 and 8 hours - and reach the juvenile stage. Juveniles resemble small versions of the adults and can eat and sting, though they’re still soft and unpigmented. They’ll leave the mother’s back to explore in safety, but then scurry back to her if there’s danger around. Once their carapace hardens and gains color, they can start hunting on their own and will often leave their mother.

A scorpion will undergo an average of 6 molts to reach full adulthood, which, depending on the species, can take between 6 months and nearly 7 years. The average lifespan depends on the species, with some living up to 25 years.

Re: the biological terms I used, here’s a picture and explanation from the Wikipedia article:

Post-coitus cannibalism has never been reliably reported in scorpions.

Scorpions are also kinky fuckers but no one’s ready for that conversation.

So, I will give this much to WOTC writers regarding the tlincallis - most species of scorpions do actively hunt their prey. (Though there are several species that are just sit-and-wait predators.) They are also opportunistic hunters, eating primarily invertebrates but occasionally also going for things like lizards, snakes, and small mammals, though scorpions with larger claws will also go after earthworms and mollusks.

What I will not give them credit for is the method of hunting. A scorpion’s primary hunting tool is its claws. Only large and aggressive prey is given a sting - the method of death is still typically via claw, even in that case.

They also don’t chew. They rip off pieces of their prey and put those pieces in a pre-oral cavity, which uses digestive juices from the gut to start the digestion process. Once it’s liquid enough, it gets sucked right into the gut. Any indigestible matter is ejected at this stage.

They do have an anus separate from the genital operculum, and it runs up into the tail. Scorpions will eat a large amount of food in one meal, and when this is combined with their low metabolic rate and relatively inactive lifestyle, it means that they can survive for 6 to 12 months without starvation.

So no, Wizards Of The Coast, a band of scorpion people would NOT be migratory by compulsion, even if they were aggressive.

And yeah, scorpions are mainly found in deserts, but that’s so limiting. They’ve adapted to nearly every sort of biome and appear all across the world, except in Antartica. So you can literally put them anywhere.

The scorpion is found in Greek mythology (Artemis or Gaia sending it to kill Orion) along with in a page of the Anglo-Saxon Herbal.

Despite the scorpion’s usage in myths, stories, and weapons of war, very few of them are actually capable of killing a human (barring allergy). 25 species out of more than 2,500 have venom deadly to humans. Most of, if not all of these, belong to the family Buthidae, which is the largest family.

Now it’s time for “Jasper analyzes scorpions from different media”! I’ve already dragged the tlincalli for filth, so we’ll pivot to look at another WOTC media: Magic The Gathering.

Scorpions don’t get a lot of rep. At best, they appear as one-off cards. However. Thanks to vising two primarily-desert planes (Amonkhet and the Vorthos-panned Thunder Junction), we have some Guys.

We’ll start with the Scorpion God of Amonkhet. This guy did not used to look like this, but once Nicol Bolas got all up in everybody’s business, he twisted the Scorpion God, Locust God, and Scarab God into giant monstrosities and erased knowledge of their names, even from themselves, and then used them to “harvest” the mortals he had been cultivating to create an undead army. The Scorpion God killed the gods Rhonas, Oketra, and Kefnet, before finally being killed by Hazoret and a group of rebelling mortals.

He is notably the only one of the “twisted” gods to have been killed – the Locust and Scarab Gods both survived, as did Hazoret, and all three defended Amonkhet later from New Phyrexia getting all up in everyone’s business.

Meanwhile, on Thunder Junction...

Oh, Thunder Junction. If not for the fact that no one in the design and writing department could agree on and work together to determine the right approach to Western tropes, you could have been interesting.

Having said that, the scorpion dragons? Not native to there. Instead, they’re from Gastal, a plane that was mentioned one (1) time back in the day. I’m willing to overlook some questions about these blokes for the sake of blaming the dragon half on everything I don’t think are scorpion-enough when it comes to these guys.

Now, for my third example... I’m going to preface this with the fact that LEGO’s Legends of Chima theme was a problematic mess in hindsight. I still love it with my entire soul, but it was a fucking nightmare.

But within that is the Scorpion Tribe, what is possibly my favorite current example of what you can do with scorpions in a (science-)fantasy setting.

The Scorpions were accidentally evolved with the magic MacGuffin of the series (Chi) thanks to some foolishness going on, and they were the antagonists of season two (or rather, wave two, as they were technically the latter half of season one and the beginning of season two). They’re led by a king, Scorm, and a general, Scolder. And yes, they all stick to the Sc- naming theme, with one exception from the online game.

So, how do you create an anthro Scorpion Lego figure? Like this, of course!

Now, something interesting to note is that because the Chi was not safely introduced to these guys, some of them didn’t “evolve” all the way and still have a scorpion lower body, like a weird centaur. Meet Scutter, posterchild for this, even though his brother Scrug speed-“evolved” to humanoid form.

Something interesting to note is just how flexible and catlike the tails of these Scorpions are. They can flick around and even hold things when curled up.

Another fun thing about Chima is that they don’t put my boys in the desert. Instead, they live in caves in a very hostile jungle. I’m so proud of them.

Analyzing the venom of these guys, though...

Scorpion God = full of god-killing venom

Akul = a "dark curse" that's basically fantasy tuberculosis

Scorpions from Chima = hypnosis mind-control agent that wears off fairly quickly

Scorpion dads do tend to be deadbeats, but a scorpion mom figure? I would chew that right up.

Re: molting, it is a long, long process, even for something as small as a scorpion. So the bigger they are, the longer it's probably gonna take. It requires a lot of calorie-loading beforehand and can be predicted based on “air pockets” that appear at the sides of the exoskeleton, to give them wiggle room. Scorpions are soft for several days after molting and avoid eating anything until they harden back up.

And did I mention that scorpions glow under ultraviolet light?

So...yeah! Scorpions are so fucking cool, and this is just an overview! This isn't even getting into any particular species! There's just so much to explore in terms of scorpions in fantasy settings, so seeing them reduced to Desert Bad Guy over and over again annoys me.

these are two COMPLETELY different characters. in season 1 she comes to earth as a decorated war hero. someone respected enough to lead the mission to earth when gems were suspected to still colonize it. and in a couple years (which are like SECONDS to her!!), she suffered in a codependent abusive relationship, she fused with a corrupted monster just to try and regain her sense of strength, she gets SHATTERED. that decorated war hero? stuck on earth. scarred to hell and back. reduced to tossing boulders because there's no one worth fighting, the one thing that gave her some semblance of purpose.

maybe I'm a sucker for deep intimacy but all I want to do is just... trace her corruption scars. listen to her talk, about the war, about homeworld, about anything on her mind. I let my hands wander to her hand, the one covered in dark teal bruising, and kiss her knuckles softly. I let her be still for once.

i'm not a big age gap girly especially considering the age of most of my muses and how i believe age directly correlates with maturity and life stages in most cases. so i get uncomfortable pretty quickly with an age gap. with muses that are minors it would have to be within a year or two at most. older than 18, looking at maybe 4 ish years max. i don't have enough 30+ muses but when the muse is above 30 i'm willing to go to about 6-7 years older. immortals are obv the exception.

A Few of My Daily Witchy Practices:

I've seen a few of these floating around here and there, so I figure I'll add my own input. These are all things I do, so maybe they'll be helpful to others as well. If the Void has any they would like to add, do let me know, I'm always looking for new ideas!

Wearing enchanted rings/crystal bracelets - I'm a sucker for gem stone bracelets (amethyst, tiger's eye, the many colours of jasper). Regardless of what the stone may be used for, I hold a small ritual to imbue my will and intention into them, like that of a spell jar, but just a different vessel.

Picking up trash on walks - Because what deity wouldn't be pleased to see you tending to the only planet they have followers on. Seriously, this is such an easy act of devotion to whatever deity you worship or work with. Even if you're non-theistic, you can feel good about helping our mother Earth. Pro tip: I carry a grocery bag any time I go on walks, so I can stuff the trash in there, and throw it all away with ease!

Making tea - Not just the store bought stuff (not that there's anything wrong with it) but actually making your own mixes and blends. They can be simple or complex, and there's bonus points if you can grow your own ingredients. I often make a tea out of sage, mint, and cinnamon sticks, using home grown herbs. Boil the three for a few minutes, then add some brown sugar or honey to taste. It's delicious!

Carrying spell jars - I love to carry one or two around, depending on the day and what I'm planning to do. It can be nice to just feel something crafty in your pocket. My favourite jar is effectively a totem of my practice: it houses my most frequent herbs, resins, and a wee writ of devotion.

Keeping an eye out for nature's gifts - Feathers are a huge one for me. I'm always looking for cool things to throw into this craft or that, and discarded feathers from common small birds are an easy find.

Small crafts for every day use or decoration - I love to make things of all varieties, especially if they're witchy things. Simple sewn dream sachets for pillows, wreaths with specially chosen pieces, even just tying some sticks together to make a hanging pentacle, then tying some feathers to hang from it. The options are endless!

Illusion

Friday's school day came and went. Jasper even returned Aurora's sketch book. Bella and Aurora were at La Push when the infamous Jacob Black came. "Aurora, this is my friend Jacob, and Jacob, this is my friend Aurora." She waved as he gave a nod.

Jacob swept Bella away down the shore while Aurora sat on the beach blanket reading. A figure sat next to her. "Hey."

She looked up,"Hi."

He was tan, had a sharp yet round face, and had long black hair. It suited him. He was handsome. "Whatcha reading?"

Aurora turned the cover, "The Kite Runner."

"Any good?"

"Seeing as in halfway through with it and I just started yesterday, yeah, I'd say it's pretty good."

The boy laughed, "By the way, names Embry."

"Nice to meet you, name's Aurora."

"Like the princess?"

"I guess, but it's more of a family name."

"It's a pretty name for a pretty girl." Aurora blushed. It was a little cliche, but it was smooth. Aurora thanked him, and the two sat in silence, comfortable silence.

Bella and Jacob were quick, coming back, and then him and his friends headed out. Before the trip left, Embry turned back to Aurora. "You have a piece of paper and a pen."

Aurora nodded. "In the van." He helped her up, and she gave him what he asked for.

He scribbled something on there and gave it to her. "Text me with any other book recommendations." He winked and left.

"Really Aurora, another one?" Bella asked jokingly. Aurora and Bella got dropped off at Aurora's, and neither parent was home.

"What is this like… the third date?" Aurora asked. Bella nodded.

"I think so." They came inside, and Jacinda was there, Sudoko in hand.

"Hice sopa, pero está un poco fría. Lo calentará cuando tenga hambre."

"Okay, thank you. We'll eat in like an hour, Abuela." The older women nodded and waved them off. They were breaking her concentration.

The girls went up to Aurora's room. "So Jacob was telling me that there's a legend about the tribe's enemies, the Cullen's."

"Oh my god, really? What the fuck?"

"Yeah, something about them being cold ones and having this feud."

"Like vampires?" Aurora asked.

"I'm assuming."

Aurora worked it out, "I mean, it would explain their fast speed, how they were able to stop the car, and their weird changing color eyes."

Bella nodded rapidly,"Right! I feel like no one's noticed that they have gold eyes !"

"Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone thinks that's normal. But this is crazy. Vampires? What next werewolves? Pixies? Elves?"

Bella shrugged, not having an answer.

"I mean... I don't know Bella. Do they look like blood suckers?"

Again, Bella shrugged. "Oh! Besides that, I gave Jacob your number to give to his friend Embry?"

"Bella!"

"What? I mean, that whole thing with Jasper was a bust, right? Asshat, remember?"

"Well, what about Jacob, huh? Edward, asshat remember? Are you gonna move on with him?"

"Jacob is just a friend."

"Suuuure a 'friend.'"

Bella shoved Aurora's right shoulder with her left hand. "Damn trying to break my other shoulder, Bells?"

The weekend was spent with the two girls watching movies and doing homework. Also, I texted Embry about different books, but Bella was unaware of that. Sunday morning, Bella went home to change and shower. That morning, after Bella left, Aurora took her sketchbook and supplies and headed downstairs.

"Mama, can I go outside to sketch?"

"Yeah, but not for long. I don't need you to get lost." Aurora rolled her eyes and said a quick 'bye.'

Aurora walked to the tree line, memories of Jasper and her meeting replaying in her head. She sighed and ventured in.

She went to the same place where she met him and started to sketch. She sketched a circle, then a U, then 2 smaller ovals inside. Her flicks of lead were light and airy. After 30 minutes of drawing, the face she drew bared a remarkable resemblance of a certain blonde that she didn't want to think about. She drew him a brooding expression and stained, sharp teeth dripping blood.

She huffed and flipped the page. She thought of Embry and started a new face. She drew probably a face that looked similar to Embry but didn't capture him. On the 2nd one is when she was able to capture his likeness and energy.

She drew another Jasper, not finishing it, though, once she realized it was him. She drew his eyes. A grin with sharp teeth that she'll deny is his.

She drew until the sun went down. She squeezed in a drawing of her mom and grandma, her mom with a tiara and her grandmother smoking. She drew 2 outlines of faces of what could have Bella and Charlie, but she shut it after that. A piece of paper stuck out from the very beginning. It was lined paper.

She opened it and saw a number and Jasper Hale's cursive writing there.

'Here's my number Princess, text me when you can.'

Aurora assumed this was before the whole car ordeal. It had the nickname princess, which Jasper had, and stopped calling, hell even acknowledging her. She wanted to crumple it and rip it, but there was that tiny inkling of hope that this was his way to reconcile.

She entered the number on her phone. She hovered around the keyboard when a message popped up.

'Hey Aurora, got the kite runner! U were right, it is great, better hurry and finish it before I beat u ;)'

Aurora smiled at the message as she messaged back.

'Puhlease I'm on the last chapter. How are u gonna beat me?'

She felt as if someone was watching her, she looked up and around but there was no one there. Feeling slightly uneasy, she started to head home.

Jasper watched as she left. He had seen her frustrated drawings of him, which made him chuckle, but it was replaced by worry when she started to draw someone else.

He glared at the drawing of a boy he did not know. He wanted to step out of his hiding spot, to go and apologize, but when she read the paper and texted someone else, he stopped himself. This is what he wanted, no? For her to not be mixed up with vampires. To not be around her and constantly want to drain her?

He rushed home, angry at himself, at Edward, at vampires, but mostly at himself for letting her into his life and heart and then leaving her.

Everyone was hit with an intense rage when Jasper entered home. Carlisle and Esme shared a look. Him and Edward had been brooding the past two weeks or so, and it made the house unbearable. He hoped soon that the boys would change their mind, he honestly couldn't stand it anymore.

Esme knocked on Jasper's door, "Jaz?"

He took a deep breath, "Yeah?"

"You okay, honey?"

He nodded, not wanting to speak about her. Esme sighed at the boy's lack of communication. "Just know that whoever she is, I'm sure if you talk to her and apologize for whatever you have done, she'll forgive you."

"How do you know it was I who did something? And if that's even what I'm upset about? And what .... what if she won't?"

"A mother knows Jasper. Now, decide on what you're gonna do because this moping and being angry is not good for you." She gave a smile and left. Now it's time to talk to the sulking Edward.

Monday came, and Jasper was still undecided. Aurora was giving him the same treatment, and he couldn't blame her. She looks cute in her long sleeve cut sweater and dresses over her. He especially liked how it hugged every curve.

'Focus.' He slapped himself internally. Aurora's phone slightly buzzed, and she smiled at it.

He scowled, 'Who the fuck was making her smile like that.'

She didn't answer it, though, seeing as they were still in class discussing the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Jasper skimmed the book but didn't read it fully. But he was going to buy tomorrow, he had all night. Once the class ended, Aurora checked the phone.

'Hey Aurora! Me, Jacob, and Paul stole a few drinks and are gonna drink it by a meadow place, wanna join? Bella should be going, Jacob texted her.'

'Sure, but only if Bella's going. Buddy system and all, plus my mom won't let me without her lol.'

'Sweet! See you after school.'

'Hey Bella you going after school ?'

'Yeah I want to see if Jacob found anything else.'

'Oh smart. Okok.'

She left, and Jasper watched her go. The day went by in a blur. Aurora and Bella texted their parents, saying they would walk and explore the woods a little bit with Jacob. Amora was on the fence, but Charlie convinced her that Jacob was a good kid and knew the forest well.

The 5 of them meet up and head by the meadow, opting to stay in the trees rather than the flowers.

They brought wine coolers and shots. Aurora was a little worried, she's never drank before. Bella declined the drink, but Aurora took a wine cooler. She was a little tipsy, as was Paul and Embry. Jacob had one, and Bella none.

Bella started her interrogation. And Paul was dozing off next to them. Embry and Aurora sat a little further away.

"The Kite Runner crushed me, Aurora."

"Oh, you finally made it to that part. I will not lie. It just gets sadder, I cried and cried." Her eyelids were a bit heavy.

"Nooo, you're lying." Aurora shook her head, and Embry slumped on her right shoulder.

"It's so sad, but I can't put it down."

"I know what you mean. It's for school, but I read ahead, and I couldn't stop myself." She giggled. The world was slightly swimming.

Embry wasn't as tipsy. His body heat was a little higher than usual the past day, and two he's drank before. He smiled at her.

"Any other recommendations?"

"For books ummmmmm no? Oh ! But for movies it's called... called um... oh Pans Labyrinth. So fucking good. Amazing."

"Oh well, when you put it like that, I have to see it now."

"Embry, we have to go!"

"Oh, I don't think we should leave Aurora like this by herself, or well for Bella to deal with."

"I've got her." A voice spoke from the clearing as Jasper emerged.

"Who are you?"

"Jaz!" Aurora said happily.

"You know him?" Embry asked hesitantly.

Bella spoke up this time, "Yeah that's her seat mate for like every class."

Jacob eyed him, "We have to take Paul home before he gets in trouble again. Plus he's burning up." He leaned towards Bella ,"Is he safe? Can you trust him with Aurora?"

Bella nodded. "Yeah, plus he's Edward's brother."

Jacob narrowed his eyes, trusting him a little less now.

"Go, go. Jaz and I will be fine here."

Bella wanted to go with Jacob, he was gonna search his library for her but she didn't want to leave Aurora alone.

"It's okay, I’ll stay-,"

"No go Bella, shoo."

"But Aurora-,"

"I said shoo!" She waved a dismissive hand.

"I'll take care of her Bella, I'll call you off her phone once she sobers up and is home."

Embry stayed quiet till now. "Sleepy?"

"Hm?" She gave a smile and her eyes crinkled. His heartbeat quickened and Jasper rolled his eyes at him.

"Call me if you need anything okay?"

She furrowed her eyebrows but nodded. "Okay Em's got it." She gave a thumbs up and Embry looked Jasper up and down.

Bella nodded and left with the three boys. She could trust Jasper with Aurora.

Aurora looked into Jasper's eyes,"Hmm. I've missed you, cowboy."

Jasper nodded, "I've missed you too, princess."

Aurora smiled and hugged him, "It feels so long since you called me that. It feels nice." Jasper could feel the blossoming happiness when he said her nickname.

He felt like shit. He doesn't know how much longer he could ignore her. "Come on, princess, let's get to mine since it's closer, I'll get you water, and then we'll head to yours."

She nodded, tiredly. "Okay Princess, get on my back."

Aurora shook her head no, "No, I'm too heavy."

"You're not darlin ', now come on."

She eyes him wearily, he was taller and looks strong, but still, Aurora was self conscious about her weight.

He slightly crouched, "Come on, little lady."

Aurora wanted to die of embarrassment. She lifted a leg and he gripped it, she lightly hopped up and he grabbed the other.

"Light as a feather, now hold on." She held on, but her eyelids were feeling heavy. He heard her heartbeat steady and ran towards his house up to his room.

He laid her down on his bed carefully because of her cast. He only had one because he liked to lay on the bed to read.

Everyone home heard the heartbeat. Esme walked up to his room, "Jaz?"

"This is the girl, she um... "

"Drank?"

He nodded, "But she isn't the type of girl to drink."

Esme nodded, "A lot of teenagers drink, and it looks like this was her first time."

"She only had a wine cooler."

Esme chuckled, "Oh my. Well I'll get you some water and I can run to the store to get some food."

Aurora woke up, and Esme was done shopping at 5.

She looked around and found Jasper reading their class assigned book. "Um."

He looked towards her, "Hey there, little miss. Feeling better?"

"My head hurts a little, but yeah, I'm okay. Where's my phone? And how did I get here?"

"The pack boys had to head home since one of them was sick. Bella went with them after I said I'd help."

"So she just left me with you?"

Jasper nodded, "Here, she wants you to call after you wake up."

Aurora nodded, and grabbed the phone. She called Bella who picked up instantly.

"Bella?"

"Aurora how are you feeling? Jasper said he'll help-"

"Bella what the fuck?"

The line went quiet, "You just left me with a semi random dude. I get it, you kind of know him and I like him but at the very least you should've come with us! If the roles were reversed and it was asshat Edward helping, there is NO WAY I'd just leave him with you drunk."

Bella was in shock. It had crossed the back of her mind, but she didn't think Jasper would ever do anything like that.

"But it's Jasper, h-."

"I don't care, it's fucked up Bella."

Bella wanted to cry. She didn't want Aurora to be in trouble, and Jasper seemed like the safest option.

"I'm so-,"

"Bye."

She hung up. Her eyes were watery. From one point, she understood, Jasper and her had a thing, and he was responsible and respectful, but still, to leave her alone when buzzed was just not something you do.

"I'm sorry. I just offered my help because Bella seemed stressed, and I didn't want you two to stumbling around the forest alone."

She nodded.

"I would nev-."

"I know. What bothers me is how Bella just left. Even the nicest guys have a wicked side, and that's not saying I think you're a murder or rapist or whatever. It's just the principle."

He nodded, understanding. "I understand, Princess."

She nodded, not realizing he was saying her nicknames. "Are you hungry? My mother is cooking you something."

"Oh god, did I make a fool of myself in front of your family? Fucking christ strike me now."

Jasper laughed, "No, I took you straight up, you passed out."

"That's it. Your mother probably thinks I'm some like hooligan that drinks all the time and does like drugs and is a bad influence."

She groaned and dropped her head in her hands. Jasper shook his head, "No, she knows you're a good kid, and sometimes even those kids want to try a taste of the bad side."

She shook her head, "That's it, I'm done for. I can't go and face her."

He laughed again. "If anything, I'm sure she thinks I'm the delinquent."

"Jasper Hale? The Forks High Bad Boy? Puhlease more like their western cowboy."

"First off, you're correct. Second off, I can be bad."

"Yeah, and the skies are red."

Jasper grinned. "I could've sworn it was, princess. Now come on, my mother is expecting you."

"You're positive that I'm not on her bad side?"

"Cowboy's honor." He said, raising his right hand.

She shook her head. Jasper clasped their hands together and led her down stairs.

Aurora's phone dinged, and it was her mother.

'Cariño where are you!

Bella went home to Charlie's and was crying. Are you okay, mi amor?'

'Sorry mama I forgot to tell you I'm at Jaspers to work on our AP history homework and honors chem.

And yea we got into a small fight...'

'AURORA!

Next time ask ! so im not worried out of my mind thinking your missing in the woods or something!'

"Can we pop outside really quick? For I can call my mom."

"Of course, this way." He led them around the leaving room, so a door outside. "Here, I'll be in the living room."

She called her mom, who picked up instantly, too. "AURORA EVANGELINE CORDOVA FLORES!"

Aurora winced, great her full name.

"Hi mama."

"¡No me mames! ¿Por qué no te preguntaste acerca de ir a casa de Jasper? ¡Y mucho menos enviarme un mensaje de texto!"

"Mamá, lo siento! Te prometo que no lo volveré a hacer. Bella se fue con Jacob y ellos después de que nos encontramos con Jasper. y luego fuimos a estudiar a él y luego Bella y yo nos peleamos por teléfono. Lo siento, debería haberte enviado un mensaje de texto."

Amora sighed, "¿Dónde estás ahora?"

"Jasper's."

"¿Ya casi has terminado de estudiar?"

"Almost. They invited me to stay over and eat, though. I called you to explain and ask."

"Okay, fine, you can stay and eat over there. And if whatever Bella did isn't too bad, try to fix it, okay?"

"Why, so you and Mr. Charlie can go out on dates? How many more before you officially tell us? 2 or 1?"

"AURORA!"

"It was a joke! Sorry, sorry, I was trying to lighten the mood."

"Yeah, wait til you get home."

"I was just playing," she whined.

"Yeah, yeah. Now go finish studying and go eat and come home, okay?"

"Okay, Mama."

"I love you cariño, see you soon."

"I love you too, Mama, see ya."

She hung up and walked over to the glass door. She opened it, she felt weird stepping inside with shoes. She opened it, and Jasper was there smiling at her. "So, are you staying princess?"

"Yeah, I can, but after I have to go straight home."

He nodded. Of course, he heard, but she wasn't going to tell her that. "Alright, let's go get you something to eat." He grabbed her hand again, and her stomach flipped.

He led her towards the kitchen, and there, Esme and Carlisle, were cooking chilaquiles? They were frying the tortillas and had cheese on the side, and eggs out and fresh salsa? Aurora was a little surprised.

Emse saw the couple and washed her hand from cutting the onions and tomatoes.

"Hello there! You must be Aurora, we've heard so much about you! It's lovely to meet you." Aurora glanced at Jasper, who conveniently was looking where.

"Hello! It is lovely to meet you as well. Jasper's mentioned you, but he didn't tell me you were so beautiful."

Esme chuckled, a bit of flattery never hurt.

"Hello, Dr. Cullen."

"Carlisle is just fine, Aurora. How is that shoulder holding up?"

"It's doing well, Mr. Carlisle. Sore and achy every now and then, but good."

He chuckled at Mr. Carlisle. "That is very good to hear. Don't forget to schedule that appointment." He wanted to ask her to remind Bella as well, but after that conversation, he thought it would be best not to.

"Here, take a seat. We made chilaquiles for you. Jasper mentioned you are of Mexican descent, we spent a couple of ye-months in Jalisco and picked up a couple of recipes."

"Oh, really, that's so cool! My family is from Jalisco." Aurora noticed the slight slip up but didn't acknowledge it.

"What a coincidence." Carlisle clapped his hands, finishing off the plating.

It looked pretty good. There was only one plate, though. "Oh, are you guys not going to eat?"

"Oh no dear we ate before you came over and are pretty full still." Aurora nodded, and started to eat.

"This is really delicious. Thank you again."

Esme smiled, "No problem, dear. So tell me about yourself, Jasper has never brought anyone home." None of them did.

"Oh, um, I'm 16. I have Jasper in every class besides the last one that I have with Alice. I read a lot, draw a lot, listen to a lot of music. Oh, um, I live with my mom and grandma. We just moved her from LA."

Esme nodded. "Wow, you just turned 16, and you're a junior?" She nodded. Esme had a glint in her eyes.

"You're a very bright girl. I'm glad you and Jasper are together." Aurora's eyes darted to Jasper's.

"Oh, we're not together."

"Oh? And why not?"

She glanced up at Jasper, "I have no clue, Mrs. Esme, ask Jasper."

Esme and Carlisle laughed, and Jasper rolled his eyes. Aurora thanked them again for the food and gave them both a hug. "I hope you come back, dear."

Aurora nodded, not knowing what to say. Jasper took a car this time, a BMW. Fucking christ, Carlisle had to be a nepotism trust fund baby because fuck this house, cars, and motorcycles.

They drove in silence until Aurora spoke. "So, are you gonna go back to ignoring tomorrow?"

Jasper sighed, "Aurora, I want us to be close. I do. There's just some things I have to sort out."

Aurora nodded. He was lying. A small ,"Okay," was all she said.

They pulled up to Aurora's, Jasper was going to go open the door for her and walk her, but she got out before he did.

"Thank you for the ride and everything today." She shut the door and walked to her house, not sparing a glance back at him.

Jasper groaned. He was going to hunt for sure tonight. He waited until she was taking off her shoes before driving off.

Amora jumped up and all but ran to the door. She ushered her daughter inside. They sat down at the dining room table, Jacinda was outside smoking, she didn't want to hear Aurora's lecture.

"Aurora. I am going to ask you this once, okay? And you have to answer this honestly."

Aurora winced, "Did you drink?" Aurora looked at her hesitantly and nodded. Amora gave a sharp inhale.

"Is that why you and Bella fought?"

"Kind of."

"What's kind of Aurora?"

Aurora hesitantly spoke, "She left me with Jasper, I was tipsy, I shushed her off, and then she left with Jacob and his friends because he got sick, I think."

"And you fought about her leaving you with Jasper? When you were tipsy?"

"Okay," Amora breathed out, "I am disappointed that you drank Aurora. You're only 16. And I am a little disappointed at Bella for leaving you alone with Jasper when you were drunk. Why did you drink?"

"I don't know, honestly, Mama. They offered me a wine cooler, and I accepted. And I felt a little woozy, and then yeah."

"Was Jasper there the whole time?"

"No, we were walking around the woods by his house and heard us."

Amora didn't even want to ask the question, "Did he do anything?"

Aurora shook her head, "No, he didn't. He let me sleep in his bed while he went off and helped his mom."

Amora sighed in relief, "You were incredibly lucky Aurora, had it been someone else, this talk would be a lot different."

Aurora nodded. "Charlie caught wind from the parents on the reservation. He's already talked to Bella right now. I understand if you don't want to talk to her or, well, stay friends with her. But she does want to speak with you."

"I'll speak to her."

"Okay I'll tell Charlie and they'll come over. Go upstairs." Aurora nodded and went to her room.

About 10 minutes later, Bella knocked on the wood, "Hey."

"Hi."

"I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing?"

"I shouldn't have blown up on you li-."

"No Aurora you were right! I shouldn't have left you alone regardless of who it was. I am so sorry Aurora. It was a shitty thing to do and I am a bad friend." Bella had tears streaming down her face.

Aurora did as well. She hugged Bella with her right arm. "We make mistakes, I was lucky it was Jasper and that Jasper is a gentleman and whatnot."

Bella nodded,"But still, even if he's the most upstanding guy, I should've stayed just in case."

The girls hugged while Charlie and Amora could hear them faintly. "I'm sorry again, Amora. I don't-."

Amora shook her head, "Well, it isn't okay, Bella is still a teenager, and sometimes teenagers make the wrong choice. But Aurora isn't hurt, and neither is Bella."

My first and foremost setting for Cliffjumper and Sierra, based on some fan fiction I wrote several years ago. Unless otherwise specified, this is where I'm working from concerning interactions, whether that means a thread is taking place in my AU, or Cliff and Sierra have un/intentionally gone universe hopping. Their groundbridge acts screwy plenty often, no need to elaborate beyond that.

Fae!verse

This one comes from @sparkmender, who's shared a frankly fascinating giant-magic-insect AU that I'm dipping my toes into, with red lily beetle Cliffjumper pretending he isn't breaking any rules by smuggling a teenage human into Iacon Hive, and said human changeling Sierra figuring out how to poke her magic into revealing itself. And also how to avoid being eaten.

Sarant!verse

Look. I'm a self-published author with one (1) novel to my name so far. Sarant is a big massive complex world I've been building over the past fourteen years, there's a tabletop roleplaying game I started crafting alongside the various book plots, and I will absolutely take any excuse to put some free publicity out there while also having fun amusing myself and friends. Hence Minotaur!Cliff and Quirren!Sierra and a few others I've been putting together.

Jedi!verse

Aaand this one I blame @ghostlyvisage for; mentioning a Mandalorian bounty version of Ghostspire instantly catapulted my brain towards all the space-magic shenanigans Cliff and Sierra could get into with the Force. So, introducing Devaronian Jedi Master Cliff Jammp'r and his human padawan Sierra Redsand, blue and green lightsabers respectively.

Cyberkid!verse

SO THIS ONE HAS A FEW DIFFERENT ITERATIONS, depending on which way the cards fell in Sierra being cyberformed via Omega Lock, yes there will eventually be fics for each. The main line is her alone going into the goop and coming out a brand new Cybertronian, except in an initially inert form that means Cliff and the others leave her for dead. Once the kid wakes up, however, the Decepticons quickly scoop her up as a 'recruit' (aka ace in the hole for taunting the bots), and it isn't until her path crosses with Cliffjumper again that Sierra remembers herself, remembers being human, remembers him. They escape, and the 'verse goes from there. Alternate Option! My girl isn't the only one cyberformed, because @convenientkeystorage and I are suckers for letting Sierra and Jack act like bonded cats even when they've become amnesiac alien robots. These posts are additionally labeled Sunset AU

Adventure!verse

Vaguely D&D, mainly just high fantasy shenanigans, with dragon!Cliff toting around young elf wizardling Sierra. So far this one's mostly art, we'll see if I ever get around to writing for it

There are really only two ships I'll ever write on this blog, and that's Sierra/Jack and Cliff/Arcee, with a longterm endgoal of next gen fluff. I've got the name 'Gatecrasher' picked out for a dark magenta colored mechling, and 'April' for a human great-granddaughter, and at some point there might be some time travel shenanigans purely so I can give them a bit of the spotlight
