FIC - down among the thorn - chapters 1 & 2 (of 6), taraprowl, rated T
Title: down among the thorn
Fandom: Transformers (IDW)
Rating: Teen (archive warning for one scene: graphic depictions of violence)
Wordcount: chapters one and two are ~3.8k. Whole fic will be 10-11k.
Characters: Mesothulas/Tarantulas, Prowl, (Senator) Shockwave, Chromedome, minor background cameos.
Relationships: developing Tarantulas/Prowl, past Prowl/Chromedome
Summary:
“Are you Prowl?” Mesothulas asked, dubious. He’d expected him to be at least a little shinier.
“You’re trespassing,” the mech pointed out. “I should be asking your name.”
“Ah!” Mesothulas perked up at the deflection. “You are, I think,” Mesothulas decided. “That’s a very classic fae reversal, if rather clunky."
aka: that taraprowl fae AU that I promised a good long while ago.
On AO3.
****
I have posted two chapters (of six) of my fully written (and now roughly 10-11k) fae AU fic. Chapters three and four will be up in a few days and are ready to go, and I am finishing final edits on five and six at the moment. (As in, literally this very second, hah.)
Some notes under the cut or at AO3, whichever you prefer.
This one has been on my harddrive for over a year now, completely written and 75% edited. Oops. I did mean to get it out sooner.
I originally wrote this for an event that didn't pan out, and then I took what was meant to be a short break from it. Then work went so tits up all year I was simply too tired and/or depressed to look at it very often! Ultimately, I've shaved it down quite a bit in the interim of poking at it, I think to its benefit overall in the end, and probably the extra time and distance was a good thing. Silver linings! And now here it is.
This is a fae AU that features (pre-)Taraprowl. (I have marked it as ship, but the relationship is more... ambiguously pre-romantic, let's call it. Even so, calling it gen felt disingenuous.) It originally spun off an idea for an AU that would have more closely been a kind of parody and reversal of Tam Lin, but while elements of that remain, it's much looser conceptually now. (I have nonetheless taken the title from the Anais Mitchell rendition.)
Not many content warnings in place for this one. One chapter coming up later will have one worth mentioning. AO3 has the details of that specific one under a spoiler tag.
I debated on whether to just post this all at once, but I still want to fiddle with the last chapter or two for a couple days, so I've posted the first two chapters here and will post three and four in a few days before finishing up; I'm currently deciding if this will be five or six chapters. We'll see! I'll let people know by the time the next couple chapters go up which to expect.

20 questions for writers
tagged by @ongreenergrasses Thank you so much - I will answer even though I haven't posted any new fic in ages. I am still writing though... slowly and sporadically, but still writing.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
27
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
351,600
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I have written for Cherik/X-men and The Old Guard (Joe x Nicky).
I am currently working on 2 Buddie fics in the 9-1-1 fandom, but haven't posted anything to ao3 yet.
I also have 3 old Klaroline fics still up on fanfiction.net that I sometimes think I should move to ao3 but haven't yet.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
An Omega's Worth - Cherik, regency ABO fic. WIP that I am determine to finish someday!
The Consequence of Hiding - Cherik, AU but they still have powers. Completed and over 100k!
At First Glance - Cherik. Complete. AU. Written for Secret Mutant Madness. Fluffy and sweet.
Airwaves - Cherik, Complete. AU no powers, set at a university radio station. Completed for a Big Bang with lovely fanart by @ireneadonovan
Right In Front of Me - The Old Guard (Joe x Nicky). Incomplete (and honestly barely started...gosh I should really get back to this one)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to respond to all comments.
I haven't been great at it lately because I'm not actively writing, but if I'm actively writing I always reply and I am happy to chat about my writing on tumblr too!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hollow.
It's a short Cherik fic, though mostly a character delve into Charles during Xmdofp. Someone asked me to write Dark!Charles and this was the result. It's very angsty and different from anything else I've written.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's Just A Summer Thing.
It has the big happy ending. And though the fic does have some angst in it, I wrote it to be fun and sweet - it's set at a summer soccer camp (except the last chapter) and its supposed to be cute.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really.
I've had a couple critical comments, but not 'hate'.
9. Do you write smut?
I have, yes.
I don't always, but I think I write smut well when I do decide it fits within the story I want to tell.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Sort of? Once?
A Man Apart is probably the closest thing I have written that's a crossover. It's still Cherik, but Erik is an android, inspired by Michael Fassbender's roles in the Alien franchise.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I am aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I know somebody asked me once about translating one of my fics years ago, but I don't know if that happened - they didn't follow up with me once I gave my permission, so I assume the translation was not compelte.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes!
Yet another fic that isn't complete (we were so close and its my fault it stalled). The lovely @msfbgraves and I co-wrote 'Someday I'll Find You', another Cherik AU.
14. What is your all time favorite ship?
Cherik.
I've written the most for them and for the longest. I still go back to my old fics and my WIPs all the time. I am still actively thinking about An Omega's Worth and how I can finish it. I reblog Cherik content daily on tumblr. I can't really image not being in the Cherik fandom in some capacity.
Buddie is my current obsession and I hope they are as long lasting as Cherik, but Cherik is still my ultimate love.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'd love to finish Someday I'll Find You, because we were so close, but I don't know if it will happen. Even if I continue I don't know if @msfbgraves would want to keep writing it after all these years!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think character voice and dialogue are my strengths. My writing tends to be very character focused and I hope I write characters that feel believable and close enough to canon not to feel OOC.
I can also be funny at times.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plotting. I don't like to sit down and plot things out.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language during a fic?
I prefer not to. There are so many nuances in language and phrasing, its hard enough to get it right in my own language, let alone one I don't know. I have include short sentences in other languages (German for example), but I ask other people to make sure the translation makes sense if I can.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Klaroline from the Vampire Diaries
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Aside from the fics I've already mentioned, I will give a shout out to one of my lesser kudoed fics: To Build A Home.
It's a Joe x Nicky early days fic from the The Old Guard fandom. It has truly incredible art from @notablogtobefollowedunless. And I think its one of my best fics in terms of action. As well as showing how the bond of trust was built between the two main characters.
I am tagging: @ikeracity, @pinkoptics, @lindstromm, @gerec, @cal-daisies-and-briars, @exhuastedpigeon, @akasanata

Chapter 1: Extremely fundamental things.
Fandom: 原神 | Genshin Impact
Relationships: Diluc/Reader
Language: English
Words: 637
AO3 Link
Next
The first feeling I register is warmth. His arm holds me secure against his chest, and I give in to the temptation, snuggling further into him and his warmth. In response, his face nuzzles into my neck.
"Mornin' sunshine," he grumbles, his morning voice as deep and gravelly as ever. The noise vibrates through my skin.
"Morning 'luc," I say, turning my head towards him, releasing a light giggle. His lion mane of red hair sticks out wildly. "Nice bed hair."
"Oh shush, you," he retorts, his face dusted with a light pink hue. He rests his forehead against mine. "You know my hair has a mind of its own."
He smiles, and I am reminded once again how much I love this man. My fingers begin to run through his hair, slowly undoing the knots.
"So, darling, are we spending the rest of the day pretending we have no responsibilities?"
"As much as I want to, we do need to get up," I reply, though every fiber of my being wishes to stay wrapped in this cocoon of warmth.
Sitting up, I stretch, each joint popping as my arms extend above my head. I hear a groan and feel Diluc sit up behind me, his arms snaking around my waist.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" he asks, his voice a low murmur in my ear.
"I know you're trying to stall, love, but it's not going to work," I say, smiling as he grumbles into my shoulder. "And I love you too." Placing my hands over his, I relish the moment.
"Worth a shot," he sighs, his warmth making a very convincing argument.
In no time, we're both dressed and ready to take on the day. Breakfast, as usual, is ready as soon as we descend the stairs.
"I see you two have finally decided to join the rest of humanity," Adelinde jokes once we've sat at the table.
"Well, if a certain someone," I send a look towards a guilty-looking redhead, "hadn't tried so hard to stay in bed, we would have been up much sooner."
"I heard very little argument from you," Diluc says, smirking, his eyes shining with mischief.
"What can I say? You made a very convincing argument," I shrug, taking a sip of the piping hot coffee. This right here—these moments—I love them. Moments like this remind me of how lucky I am to be here at this exact moment in time.
"Dear, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you loved him," Adelinde says, laughing softly. "You have such a look of adoration on your face."
I feel the heat rise in my cheeks. Oh no, I can't hide anything from Adelinde.
"Don't worry, dear, I think it's sweet." She turns to Diluc. "Diluc, you better get a move on and ask them!"
"What?" Out of the corner of my eye, I see his ears turn red. What is Adelinde talking about?
"Huh?" Confusion is evident on my face. "Ask me what?"
"Adelinde! I'm trying to find the right moment," Diluc exclaims, his face in his hands, and a satisfied smirk on Adelinde's face.
"Okay, I'm really confused now," I say, looking between the two of them.
"Don't worry about it. I promise I'll tell you soon. I just have to figure out the right timing." He holds my hands, his eyes earnest. "Can you wait just a bit more?"
"Of course I can. I'll wait however long you need," I say, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. He visibly relaxes.
"I just hope you know I will understand whatever answer you give me," he whispers, his voice full of unspoken

Webs We Weave
@dukexietyweek 2024 Day 6 - Rockstars + Stuffed Animals
Word Count: 3016 (Ao3)
Rating: T
Characters: Virgil, Remus, Patton, Remy, Andy, Dragon Witch (Millie)
Pairings: Dukexiety, Remdy (Shorts Sleepxiety)
Warnings: ftm!remus, hitch hiking, anxiety, mild threats, sex mention
Remus is an avid fan of Webs We Weave, and his internet crush just so happened to give him to tickets to every show on their latest tour. Naturally, this disaster fanboy is going to make it to all those shows without questioning his friend's connections, even if he has to hitchhike to get there! But hitchhiking can have unexpected consequences!
---
Remus was not just an average fanboy. He was obsessed with his favorite band, their music and seeing them perform. Every show was amazing and he craved the rush of the crowd. So what if he was following the band on tour by any means necessary? He wasn't stalking them, just chasing the sound and the thrill.
His own brother couldn't stop him when he got tickets to every show, not even asking how he afforded them. They were gifts from a friend from Tumblr, and crush if he were being honest. And they were legit! He swore he would bend over any way xxelectric-spider-rainxx wanted him to!
After three nights of musical ecstasy, Remus was perched in a big rig truck, headed for the next city on his list. The driver, a bespectacled man with a heart of gold, was kind enough to offer him a meal on the drive.
“So, kiddo, you said you were going to meet your friend and go to a concert, what group is worth the risk?” the driver, Patton asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
“Have you heard of Webs We Weave?” Remus asked and took a sip of his slushie. He could go on about them if he wanted, from Millie Drake's fire vocals, to Remy Traum’s bass riffs. But he didn't have to.
“Have I ever!” Patton laughed, “My son is in that band!”
“He is?!” Remus gawked. He wasn't digging into their personal lives, but he knew a lot about their back stories, except for Virgil Hawthorne. That beefcake drummer was so mysterious.
“Yuppers!” Patton giggled, “I can't tell you how proud I am of him for making it so far with his friends! He would spend all his free time playing those drums until my ex got a headache!”
“You’re Virgil's dad?” Remus gasped. Now that he thought about it, Patton had a similar smile and build to the drummer, only he was a little bigger in the middle. He could believe it.
“That’s my boy! He's such a sweet kid, sent me a backstage pass good for every show on this tour! I feel bad I won't be able to make any of them, but he knows how much I support him!” Patton said with a sly grin, “If you want it, it's in the glovebox, right next to his old bunny.”
“Really?” Remus gasped and set his drink in the cupholder before he made a mess. He opened the glovebox and saw the pass and an old black bunny toy that was well loved, obviously stitched together with white floss. Its eyes were white X's and its left ear was missing fuzz on the tip.
“Yeah! I'd hate for it to go to waste, and I think he'd like you,” Patton responded, “And if you do take it, can you give him Mr. Fuzzy? He loves that bunny!”
“You trust me not to keep it?” Remus gawked.
“Yeah, you don't seem like the crazed type of fan who would. Plus you need to have faith in people.”
“That’s really idealistic,” Remus said and carefully tucked the pass and bunny into his bag, “But you don't have to worry, I'll get it to him. It's the least I can do for the ride and food!”
“Thanks Remus,” Patton said and drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, “Mind if I put on some dad tunes?”
“Classic rock?” Remus grinned, “Only if you let me sing along!”
Patton beamed and turned on the radio. He was happy he decided to pick up this hitchhiker, and happier that he might've found Virgil's newest friend.
---
“Ugh, you have to stop pacing, Virge!” a young man with shaggy brunette hair groaned from where he lounged on the couch.
“I can't help it!” Virgil, a large man with even shaggier black and purple hair, snapped. He was chewing his thumbnail and walking the length of the dressing room. The other two band members were getting coffee, leaving the two most anxious messes to wait.
“You'll run out of energy before we go on. Isn't there something else you can do?” Andy groaned and adjusted his jeans.
“I left Mr. Fuzzy with my dad and running a lap around the building will drain me faster. What else can I do, Andy?”
“I don't know—why are you freaking out?” Andy huffed and crossed his arms, hugging his chest for some security.
“I haven't heard anything from them in days, and their blog is all queued. What if they hate me? What if they're in trouble? What if they're just busy or too excited to go online? What if they show up at this show? I won't be able to recognize them. What if they're a creep? What if I put us all in danger?” Virgil rambled. Andy rolled his eyes.
“You gave them a ticket to every show. They're bound to show up at some point.”
“My dad got tickets to every show and he's never shown up,” Virgil argued and ran a hand through his hair.
“You didn't notice, did you?”
“Notice what?”
“There's been one person at all of the shows so far in the front row. Your Tumblr buddy is probably taking advantage of those tickets.”
“Why didn't you tell me sooner?! I've been shirtless on stage every time!” Virgil yelped and lunged at Andy, grabbing him by the shoulders, eyes bugging out of his skull.
“Dude. We only had three shows, all in the same area. I'm not jumping to conclusions yet,” Andy yelped. Virgil was too strong for his own good.
Virgil immediately let go of him and shrank back. He knew he was overreacting but he couldn't calm down. He flopped on the couch and groaned.
“Why do you care so much? Especially about the shirt thing? You don't know what they look like or their pronouns,” Andy huffed, “Don't tell me—you have a crush.”
Virgil curled into himself and grumbled. He couldn't stop himself from feeling. He was freaking out over a crush like some teenager and he was making a mess of his band.
It was so stupid. He only knew their username, krakendickenpuss, and that they could handle his bluntness and his rants. They actually liked talking to him about monsters, movies, and music. They were the first person in a long time he could connect with, without his mild game getting in the way. They were lewd and flirty but they never crossed any lines, and they were just so adorable!
“Oh god, you do,” Andy gasped and got up. He needed some water and a snack and the vending machine was outside.
“I'll grab a gatorade for you,” Andy said and opened the door.
“Hi!”
Andy yelped and jumped back. He was not expecting a little man to be at the door with his fist raised, especially not one he swore he saw at the last couple of shows. Virgil jumped to his feet and got between Andy and the intruder, ready to fight.
“Oh! Perfect!” the man cheered, “Millie and Remy said you were here!”
“Who are you and how did you get back here?” Virgil snarled, ready to fight. A good scuffle might have been just the thing he needed to calm his nerves.
“I'm Remus,” the man said with a shiver. Virgil assumed it was just evidence this guy was intimidated. Remus was enthralled—what could be hotter than a big strong guy getting protective of his friends? A big strong shirtless guy getting protective of his friends!
“Virge—” Andy muttered, his heart still racing.
“I can handle this,” Virgil said curtly and nudged him towards the couch before his knees gave out.
“I was looking for you since Venomousse got off the stage! I need to give you something! I promise it's not dangerous!” Remus beamed. He was damn cute, and Virgil hated that.
“How did you get backstage?” Virgil pressed and loomed over him menacingly. They didn't sell backstage passes, not even for the press.
“I have a pass!” Remus chirped and held up his lanyard with the pass.
“Where did you get that?” Virgil snapped and grabbed him by the shirt, lifting poor, aroused Remus off the ground.
“Your dad gave it to me! He's a really nice guy! He gave me a ride and I didn't even have to offer any suckies!” Remus said without an inkling of fear. He would have killed to get socked in the jaw by his favorite drummer! He would kill for this man to do so much more than that!
“What?!”
“I know! He's a good guy! He asked me to give you something!” Remus said, “So can you put me down? You're stretching my binder.”
“If you hurt him, I swear I'll—”
“Call him. He should be fine,” Remus cut him off, “My binder won't be if you keep holding me like this. I don't have another one with me! Unless you want to see these lumps—all you have to do is say so!”
Virgil immediately dragged him into the dressing room and dropped him on the couch by Andy. Remus landed with a thud and scrambled to get his gym bag off his back.
Andy watched him dig through his bag when Virgil called his dad. He was pacing again and biting his thumb.
“Heya kiddo!” Andy could hear Patton greeting his son, “Sorry I couldn't make it tonight! I just crossed into the next state!”
“Dad, are you okay?” Virgil gasped.
“I'm not in Oklahoma!” Patton giggled, “But I'm alright. Are you okay? You sound stressed.”
“Did you pick up a hitchhiker?” Virgil asked and bit his lip. He didn't even notice Remus pulling something out of his bag.
“I did, but don't worry, I dropped him off and I'm safe. Actually, he was headed to your concert, so I sent him with something to give you since you probably need it,” Patton said brightly, “His name is Remus, he's short and stocky, has a little mustache. I think he was wearing green shorts and a black tank top.”
“What did you give him?” Virgil demanded, getting even more tense by the second.
“This!” Remus butted in loudly and held up the stuffed bunny for Virgil to see.
Virgil’s jaw dropped. There was no way this Remus guy was holding Mr. Fuzzy.
“Oh it sounds like you found him!” Patton said over the phone. It was hard to miss Remus' voice!
“I gotta go, Kiddo, break a leg tonight!” Patton said after a beat of silence.
“Thanks, Dad,” Virgil choked out and hung up the phone. Virgil hung up and stowed his phone almost robotically.
He stared at Remus for a long moment, trying to make sense of the situation. Andy was uncomfortable with the silence, but Remus seemed to be at ease.
The tension snapped when Virgil snatched the toy from Remus and held it to his chest.
“Tell anyone about this and you're dead,” Virgil growled and rubbed the bunny’s ear between his fingers.
“About what? How you're taller and beefier than the photos let on? That you got aggressive enough to make me cream my pants?” Remus jeered and wiggled his shoulders, “Because only one other person will know what happened when I met you! And they won't believe me anyway!”
“He's having a really anxious moment,” Andy cut in, “He really isn't aggressive. Whoever you plan on telling, mention that part.”
“Who are you telling?” Virgil asked warily as he finally started calming down.
“A friend on Tumblr. They gave me the tickets so I want to tell them all about it when I don't have to watch my phone battery!” Remus beamed.
Virgil's face blanched.
“Your friend gave you tickets, plural?” Andy asked with a smirk, “So we'll see you at other shows?”
“Hell yeah! I'll be at every show! I can't believe they could give me so many tickets!” Remus beamed, “So don't get any ideas about calling me a stalker!”
“Oh god, you plan on hitchhiking to all of them?” Andy gawked and got up. He still needed a snack, and he had to find Remy and Millie.
“Yup! But I'm a tough puppy! I can handle anyone!” Remus beamed. Virgil stared at him like he was insane.
“Geez,” Andy sighed, “I'm hitting the vending machine. Do you want anything?”
“Gatorade or iced tea if they have it,” Remus said and dug into his bag. He could pay for his own drink!
“It's on me,” Andy cut him off and headed for the door. Once Andy was gone, Virgil’s anxiety started creeping over him again. Virgil was going to kill Andy.
“So, uh, your friend on Tumblr gave you tickets?” Virgil muttered, not daring to look at Remus.
“Yeah!! Electric Spider Rain has some crazy connections! When I finally get to meet them I'm totally smooching their breath away! I would've done that even without the tickets,” Remus giggled.
“Krakendickenpuss?” Virgil asked, praying that he didn't just threaten his crush.
Remus squealed and pounced, intending to hug him on the floor. He wrapped his arms and legs around the drummer and rubbed his cheek on Virgil's shoulder.
“I can't believe it's really you!” Remus squealed, “Who would've thought that the person I've been talking to online is actually the sickest drummer in the world!”
“I can't believe you decided to hitchhike around to get to every show without telling me,” Virgil scoffed incredulously.
“You would have tried to stop me!” Remus giggled, “And then I would have never gotten to meet you!”
Virgil set Remus on his feet, only for Remus to hug his waist and nuzzle his chest. Virgil was beet red but gingerly hugged back with one arm. Mr. Fuzzy didn't need to be crushed any further.
“You know I can't let you hitchhike to get to the rest of the shows without worrying,” Virgil said softly.
“But I don't want to miss the rest of the shows! You guys are my favorite band and you gave me all those tickets!” Remus whined, “And I want to spend time with you in person!”
“Then join us on the bus,” a woman said as she entered the room. She had a knowing smirk on her ruby lips and long dark hair. She had two guys trailing her, a twink in sunglasses and Andy.
“Millie, you can't be serious,” Virgil huffed, “What if we get in trouble for kidnapping or worse?”
“My brother knows I'm hitchhiking so you don't have to worry about that!” Remus pipped up, refusing to let go of Virgil.
“I'm serious, we talked about it. I would rather have some mild trouble with the law than him getting hurt,” Millie shrugged, “You would've suggested it too.”
Virgil couldn't blush any harder. Not only was Milie suggesting bringing Remus along, but she and Remy could see Mr. Fuzzy in his arm. There was no way out of this.
“As long as he doesn't knock you up, it's fine,” Remy added and sipped on his iced coffee.
“So it's fine,” Virgil muttered, “Since that's impossible.”
“It's not impossible the other way around!” Remus jeered, “But I'll behave! Even if you're shirtless and sweaty!” To make things worse, he rubbed his face against Virgil's chest.
“Since that's settled, introductions?” Millie hummed and sat down. Andy dragged Remy away from the dressing room, probably to tell him to keep his mouth shut about the stuffed animal.
“I'm Remus! Remus Reyes Cuesta!” the little imp beamed and finally let go of Virgil, “And his internet friend!”
Millie narrowed her eyes at him and studied his face.
“Is your brother Roman?”
“Yup! How did you know?”
“Do you remember Millicent Wieczorek?” she hummed. Remus' face lit up.
“No way! Is that you? You kicked his ass in middle school! He totally deserved it, so I'm not mad! I was so sad when you had to move away! What are the odds we meet again here?”
“Yeah, he can ride with us. He's safe. Just like Mr. Fuzzy,” Millie said to Virgil.
“Uh,” Virgil hesitated. Millie shrugged and grinned at him.
“I still sleep with Barfolomew the cat dragon. I'm not judging you. Remy might, but his boytoy is grilling him. Actually I should make sure they aren't making out in a closet. You two have fun.”
With that she got up and left Remus and Virgil alone. Virgil was absolutely mortified.
“Sit! Sit!” Remus chirped and patted the seat next to him. Virgil reluctantly sat down and let Remus lean on him.
“Thanks for the tickets and the ride. And for showing me your dark side! It's hot!”
“Sorry about that, I was out of line,” Virgil wilted and hugged Mr. Fuzzy. Remus pouted and scooted closer.
“It's okay, Virgil. I'm not hurt, just turned on. Who knew my celebrity crush would be my Internet crush, and who knew he was feral and a sweetheart?”
“Crush?”
“Yup! I won't deny it!” Remus giggled, “But don't think that means I'm coming on to you. I can behave! Even if I'm jealous of that bunny!”
“Why would you be jealous of a toy?” Virgil huffed. He was practically squeezing the life out of it.
“Because you love it, and more importantly, you're hugging it to those bara tiddies!” Remus jeered. He was pleasantly surprised when Virgil wrapped an arm around him.
“I-I like you too,” he said shyly, “But let's not rush into anything.”
“I can work with that!” Remus beamed, “I'm gonna go back out to the pit, and I'll come back here after your set.”
“You can leave the bag, no one will steal anything,” Virgil said and loosened his hold on his bunny.
“Really? Thanks Virgil! You're the best!” Remus beamed and kissed his cheek.
He bopped to his feet and giggled at how Virgil's blush traveled to his shoulders. He waved cheekily and skipped out of the dressing room, letting Virgil follow him with his eyes.
Virgil touched his cheek where Remus kissed him and smiled like an idiot.
That night he performed better than ever before.

Note
AAAAAAA ur reading house of leaves??? im buying that next week thats so cool! do u have any book recs? or recs in general shows movies etc
I AM!! I'm several chapters in and super enjoying it, although reading it alone in a tiny hotel room in the middle of nowhere was a Distinct Mistake.
As for recs! I'm going to specifically go for stuff that isn't super mainstream, in the hopes that I'll recommend you something you have never heard of before. Here's some stuff for you!
Podcasts
Dreamboy - one-season podcast from Night Vale Presents, definitely one of their less-known ones. Explicit in places, what I would describe as AO3 M-rated sex scenes. A worn-out musician ends up embroiled in inexplicable events in a small town, and also there's a murderous zebra and fossils that want to fuck. It's a musical cinematic podcast masterpiece, I'll always be sad there's only one season.
Apocrypals - nonfiction. Two non-believers read through the Bible and try not to be jerks about it. If you're interested in theology and apocryphal texts but have no idea where to start, this is such a good place. The hosts are delightful, and have a really nice way of taking you through all the various layers of Biblical scholarly nonsense. Considerable backlog of episodes, but worth listening through from the beginning. Weirdly, there's continuity.
Til Death Do Us Blart - five poor fools watch Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 every Thanksgiving from now until the end of eternity, and report back yearly on their mental state. You may think to yourself 'wow, that doesn't sound like a good time'. It isn't, to the hosts. To anyone listening along, it's fucking hilarious. Nine episodes so far, and it's a single episode per year, so plenty of time to catch up.
Web Series
The Monument Mythos - Several seasons. surreal analogue horror alternate history of America told through a series of videos of varying format. Brilliantly absurd, fucked up, and horrifying by turns (sometimes all at once).
No Evil - ongoing animated series, made mostly by a single person. Please don't immediately wave it off because of the colorful anthropormorphic animals. The mythology is amazing, the animation is sublime, and the music is haunting. The pacing is a bit strange at first, and you may be confused at the way the plot moves, but you have to understand that it's all part of its charm. I think about No Evil way too much.
Dances Moving - you may know Brian David Gilbert from his work at Polygon, and his more recent absurdist Youtube ventures. This is from way before that! It's a fun and gradually heartwrenching musical exploration of a local dance group and what it means to move away from home. Seven short episodes.
ENA - this one is a bit more mainstream, so you may know it already. Who knows what's going on in the world of ENA? Definitely not me. Absurdism at its finest. Bizarre architecture, strange characters, if it's a metaphor I don't know what it's about, but the vibes are immaculate. Three actual episodes of varying length, apparently there's a video game set to come out soon-ish?
An Unauthorized Fan Treatise - serialized story. If you're a fan of internet drama a la Msscribe, you're going to adore it. It's a fiction story about a fictional fandom, and one massively messed up person who decides that two of the lead actors in her favorite show are secretly dating and sets out to prove it with a cited multi-chapter essay. And then it gets wild.
Comics
The Property of Hate - a wonderfully dynamic and colorful webcomic about a young girl getting chosen to become a make-believe world's Hero. Puns and wordplay galore. Absolutely delightful characters and worldbuilding. Ongoing.
Eat the Rich - a young woman goes to meet her boyfriend's extremely rich family, and learns their horrifying secret. Warning: cannibalism. 5 issues, complete.
Beanworld - impossible to describe, but I'll try. An absurdist semiabstract musing on the nature of life and cycles and community, set in a world where the rules are weirdly two-dimensional and you as a reader get weirdly invested in the routines and cycles that the inhabitants follow. And all of the main characters are cute lil bean guys. If you read anything on this list, do this one. (Linked is the only online version I could find, and it's not up-to-date. I own all the omnibuses in print. If you liked what you read here, I recommend tracking them down too.)
Short Stories (in no particular order, and certainly not all my favorites - just the ones I had bookmarked and on hand)
Bride, Knife, Flaming Horse - a young Indian woman looks for marriage in the fantastical, and finds several suitors
Fish (in 13 sections) - an obsessive unpacks a bewildering insult. Just, really fun.
Fandom For Robots - a robot discovers anime, and definitely doesn't have big feelings about it
Informed Consent Logs From The Soul-Swap Clinic - two people decide to swap bodies, for somewhat murky reasons.
The Magician's Apprentice - a young girl learns magic from her mentor. This one's about grooming. But not like that. But also a lot like that. But also it's so much more fucked up than that. (This one is a MEGA favorite, it's by Tamsyn Muir. Who you may recognize as the author of the Locked Tomb series - I'd rec that too here, if it wasn't definitely too mainstream for what I'm going for. Read this. And also read the Locked Tomb.)
The Tale of the Foolish King Who Banished Music - it's a snippet of a longer Doctor Who audio drama, but stands so nicely on its own. Unnerving little fairy tale.
The Spider - 1908 horror story about a man trying to figure out why so many men have spontaneously committed suicide in a specific hotel room. It's basically a TMA statement, in more ways than one.
Video Games
What Did Veronica Dream Of? - strange little rpgmaker puzzle game. Obtuse and weird, and I adore it. I wish I could explain why.
Secret Little Haven - point-and-click about being a trans girl on the internet in 1999. Completely nails the tone it's going for. Period-typical homo- and transphobia.
Linelith - a short (1-hour) puzzle game with no plot and no characters, and yet it contains one of the greatest plot-twists of all time. I'm begging you to play it immediately.
Lingo - puzzle game about linguistics, words, non-Euclidean goemetry, and figuring out an endless series of rules in a constantly expanding world. RIDICULOUSLY clever and good, and I've been playing it almost continuously for the last few months. It's got so much content for such a reasonable price, and the community-made maps add even more content (and are also excellent). If English isn't your first language, you may struggle, but otherwise - grab a bunch of friends and stream it. It's better with friends helping you out, I can guarantee it.
For A Change - a 1999 interactive fiction game about raising the sun in a world where words do not mean what you think they mean. If you're familiar with old text-based games, go ahead and play it - otherwise, you may want to read this transcript of a group of people playing it together instead.
Other Things
Carmilla - the classic 1800s lesbian vampire novella. I read it very recently, and it's extremely good. Absolutely delivers on the lesbian vampire premise in full gory detail, although do be aware that it was written in the context of homophobic fear.
Alberio - very fun light musical about two siren brothers reconnecting under less-than-ideal circumstances.
Mosquitoes - stage play about life and families and physics (theoretical and practical both). Very heavy topics, pulls no punches. The Boson's final monologue always wrecks me.
Ghost Quartet - musical/song cycle/experience about love, death, alcohol, and (of course) ghosts. Lots of cyclical stories and time travel weirdness. All of the songs are incredible.
Yankee and the Foreigners - music group that performs delightful upbeat covers of songs in animal onesies. Their Bare Necessities cover is a favorite of mine.
I'm sure there's lots more things I could rec (not a lot of books or movies here, huh? sorry about that. I immediately forgot everything I've ever read and watched) but these were the things that came to mind when I sat down and wrote this list, so hopefully there's something new and good for you in here!

Maybe my most controversial take but im feeling a bit silly tonight
I think Dead Plate is overrated. FANS OF THE GAME.. BEFORE YOU KILL ME LET ME EXPLAIN MY REASONING!1! 😭😭😭😭
Its currently liek 12 am so please ignore bad grammar and/or me just completely forgetting plot points feel free to correct me, I may turn this into a script for a YouTube video so I want to get things right
TW: The game I'll be ranting about has themes of canibalism and murder but I dont go into detail about it
I want to say this before I start, I do not hate the game. I genuinely think its good game, and I love that the indie dev is getting so much attention for it, BUT in my opinion its very overhyped. Everything I say is just my opinion and I understand if you do love the game, I won't stop you or tell you not to :)
I love me a canibal story, so when I saw it pop into my recommendations on YouTube I decided to watch a playthrough from ManlyBadassHero's YouTube channel right before the fan base for it blew up out of nowhere. Now at first I thought the game had maybe had an ending I didn't see or something for it to suddenly be trending so much but no. I had seen every ending and it kinda felt lackluster. Im not criticizing the creator at all, I think it was a really good concept, but it just didn't have that twist or kick I was expecting. The story is kinda too on the nose if that makes sense? It's straight to the point with not a lot of dread or tension, which in a horror game isn't really a good thing, and even the character duologue and relationships feel a bit generic? It felt like a beginner fanfiction "yandere" story id find on wattpad or maybe ao3
The characters feel somewhat flat to me, maybe it's the lack of important side characters, and not knowing much about them before meeting but the world in general just feels bland and empty. Some horror games can get away with that, but the main character works in a restaurant as a server, he would likely be talking to his co-workers very often. The main character's (ex)girlfriend Marianne is the one and only side character in the entire game and she ends up being killed off and turned into "Grilled Hanger Steak" if I remember correctly?
Something I did like a lot though was the character designs and the settings, I really do think if this game is ever remade by the creator it could be one well worth the attention it's getting, but from an outside perspective it just feels like a fanbase going nuts over the gay canibal chef. My reasoning is hes "hot" but I kinda feel like that's part of the downfall of this game. The antagonist feels so one dimensional, which kinda upsets me because it felt like Rody and Vince were actually making a connection then it just flips on its head right before like a serious bond is formed, like even if there was just one more day where they got closer id be happier with it. It just feels like such a missed opportunity to make Vince feel like more than just the guy Rody works for, like an actual person with a lot of story as to why hes the way he is. I feel like even just barley touching on that subject would improve the story so so much.
Overall the game is a 6/10 for me, the story is lacking but the artsyle and general concept make up for it
TLDR: Dead plate is a good game, it could be better though, I like it but I wish there was more focus on the characters backround depth to make it feel less like a generic "toxic yaoi love story" 😭

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @gekidasa whose answers were excellent to read at 2am when I couldn't sleep <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 91
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 437,726
3. What fandoms do you write for? TGCF obviously is the main one, and Tolkien fic is something I regularly write because it feels like going home. I dipped my toes into Genshin fic this year and I've been known to randomly drop one-off fics for other fandoms when the brainworms hit!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
After Hours. The magnum opus. Deserves its place at the top.
I Want to Ki** You. I never expected this fic to get so popular so it amuses me that it's still near the top.
Further Precautions. Dumb humor win!
Carved in bone, heart engraved. The trope inversion amnesia fic!
Bet On It. So near and dear to my heart that I have spent the last two years trying to scrub off the serial numbers for publication and if that ever happens, it'll be amusing to see who recognizes it.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I used to, but then a depression era hit and now I have Inbox (666) and it fills me with dread to look at the number. I do read each and every comment and 9 times out of 10 I start tearing up even if it's something short like "loved this, thanks!"
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I'm too sappy to do actual unhappy endings, but Still Have Time sort of implies a cycle of toxic breakups that can't be fixed.
... I also forgot that I have that one Celebrimbor/Annatar pre-torture fic, which is objectively much worse than breakups now that I think about it. Does it count when Tolkien is the one who wrote the death-by-torture ending for Tyelpë, though?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of them!!!!! But I'll nominate Money Maker, because it's the only fic I think I have ever written, for any fandom, that involves the couple getting married at the end. I bullied them so hard in this AU that I decided they earned it.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Never in the comments themselves, but I saw people being dicks about my writing on Twitter every now and then, which is the unfortunate downside of having a well-known fic in fandom. Not everyone has to like my fics, but like... I can see what you're saying on the public forum in the community that I myself am active in, guys.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? *gestures at my AO3 profile*
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? The most I've done is throw in a cameo from other MXTX fandoms, and I guess that one self-indulgent Sk8/tgcf fic that lives in my drafts and will never see the light of day. I just don't find "they meet!" to be enough of a plot to be worth reading or writing. The thought of writing all that introducing sounds like hell, sorry.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yup, there was that time the person almost word-for-word replicated Still Have Time. They claimed it was an accident and apologized before taking it down when I commented, but that wasn't fun. I felt like a jerk for commenting even though it was blatant theft; they even left kudos on my fic :/
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, I have a handful of my fics translated into Russian thanks to some Twitter pals!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Sadly no. I always thought this would be fun, though, so if anyone wants to try it sometime... just sayin'........ my inbox open....
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? 300,000+ of my AO3 wordcount is for Fengqing and they're always going to be one of the most specialest ships ever for me for many reasons, but I also feel like I have to give a shoutout to Maedhros/Fingon in Tolkien fandom for being my longest-running ship? I got into them in high school and they're the ship that I feel I can just sit down and write something for them whenever I want.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? There was that Fengqing police AU I started and I thought it would be good, but it ended up not really feeling like them and that was part of what pushed me to focus on original writing instead of fanfic this year. Funnily enough, I Frankensteined some of the concepts from that AU into Constellate, which is to date my only unfinished WIP on AO3. I never really had a plan for what I was doing with that fic and I thought I could just power through it, which failed miserably.
16. What are your writing strengths? Humor, probably! It's hard to be funny in writing, but I do try.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I have about a year's worth of fic that needs to be line edited and reposted because I was cueing--sentences like "He felt that he was afraid" rather than "His heart pounded in his chest" etc. A writing teacher pointed it out to me this summer and I've been consciously trying to fix it, but I know a lot of my fics are worse because of this.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I never see this done well in fic. Personally, if I'm writing Chinese characters in China in an English language fic, it's implied that they're speaking Chinese, so there's no need to stick "Hao jiu bu jian" in quotation marks, yknow? It only makes sense to change languages if it's implied that this section of language is different from the rest of the narrative, and even then it can be distracting in a bad way to have it written out rather than saying "'Hello,' he greeted in French."
19. First fandom you wrote for? Lord of the Rings probably. I'm not going to look at my FFN profile to check.
20. Favorite fic you've written? I have lots of favorites for lots of reasons, but I'll give a shoutout to No smoke without fire this time because it's my only OC-centric fic and I'm happy that people like it anyway even though OCs aren't really a thing in danmei fandom.
Tagging: I will take the lazy route and say steal it and tag me. I like reading answers to these

Before you read, I wrote the first draft of this post in October, then I resumed it in April, but then in May I decided to heavily re-edit it when I noticed the massive grammatical errors that I left. So the version you will read is quite changed from its original form. Starting with the decision to split it into more chapters and not in a single piece as I did before. I even tried to add more characterization to some events as I noticed that maybe I rushed up some important things, cause when I wrote this "fanfic that is not a fanfic" I didn't have a clear vision of the events in their complexity. Some parts were very detailed and explained well, while other parts are only briefly mentioned. As I re-edit it I tried to make everything more cohesive and pleasing to read. For this reason, unlike the first version, this post will only be about the disclaimers and the introduction of my "fanfiction not fanfiction", as the whole "story" will be published on AO3. As I'm writing this I've already posted 2 of the 5 parts, and right now I'm working on the editing of the 3th chapter.
The Doom in Our Blood Comes Back - the Fanfic of a Fanfic
INTRODUCTION TO THE MANUSCRIPT: THE CHRONICLES OF TWO DRAGONS
TRIUMPHS AND DEFEAT
THE CONQUEST OF DORNE
RUBIES AND IRON
When do you start to realize that a fanfiction stops being just a fanfiction and becomes a real work of entertainment?
For me it's when reading it makes you want to theorize about it as if it were a real book and even before it is finished: this is what happened to me with "The Blacks and the Greens" by @sweetestpopcorn a fanfiction (which almost every fan who started watching the series has read if like me you went looking for Daemyra fanfics on AO3 as soon as it started) that tells the story of the Dance of Dragons starting with the idea that Daemon and Rhaenyra got married as soon as their "affair" was discovered, thus an AU of the original plot leading to a completely different scale of events from the original plot of the series/book.
This story, still in progress (at the exact moment I’m writing this post it arrived “just” at its 170th chapter) has gripped me so much this past month that my brain convinced me that this was the real canon story and made me completely forget about the existence of the TV series: so if you are interested to read this AU I suggest you read the original fic, even if it’s a little bit long cause it’s totally worth it.
I thought about writing an actual story about these ideas I had but then changed my mind. It didn't make sense to write about one idea when I already had a bigger story planned that wasn't finished yet.
As I said before, the story from where I take inspiration is only halfway done and things might change a lot in the upcoming chapters as I write this post. This means that the characters I'll talk about in this headcanon might have died to are going to because I don't control the story, the author does.
As I write this post, my idea for "this story" went in a totally different direction than what the original author intended. It became its own separate version of the Blacks and the Greens, with a different set of rules and logic.
I am a big fan of the Black side in the civil war and like happy endings.  I wanted Helaena to be happy with her kids and for Rhaenyra to rule the Seven Kingdoms with her husband and raise her five children. In my imagination, the Greens give up quickly and Rhaenyra becomes the Queen without any fighting. She brings both sides together and makes the dynasty stronger.
This means that in this universe almost all of the Targaryen family is still alive and because the war didn't last too much the finance of the kingdom is not significantly damaged making the reign of the Black Queen very prosperous and full of innovations, technically and artistically speaking, making for them more effortless to conquest Dorn and made Westeros finally United.
The first idea for this story was to talk about Rhaenyra and Daemon's five children and their fun experiences instead of just focusing on Rhaenyra and Daemon's relationship, which is already the main focus of The Blacks and The Greens.
When I was reading the fanfic for the first time, I knew that liked Baela the most because of her personality: plus in my head, she's like a female version of Daemon for this reason, I decided to use her as the main character in my story.
She, in my mind, had the right characteristic to be our main POV, being, in my head, the “middle child” of the group - so the one who is between Aegon and Viserys (the boys) and Rhaena and Visenya (the girls) - and that belong to both of the two worlds, the feminine and the masculine, and have both these sides with her.  She, in my fantasy, will spend a lot of time with her two brothers, with whom she will share a very strong bond as a very strong rivalry for the attention of their father; with the girls too she will have a special relationship. Especially with Rhaena who is her twin, who is, in some way, her opposite and her complementary, especially in the way they decide to express their femininity over the years.  I think that in the Book-canon, Baela looks more masculine than what it was depicted in The Blacks and the Greens, and because this headcanon is heavily inspired by that fanfic, I decided to follow this vision more than the canon one.
In this universe, she dresses like a combination of Queen Visenya, whom Baela really likes, and Queen Rhaenys. Baela is both strong and sensual like her mother Rhaenyra. She wears bright colors like red and loves jewelry.
I thought about what clothes would look good on her at the court. I imagined she would like dresses that were fun and sexy, with low necklines and tight bodices. These dresses would be like armor to her and would have lots of beads on them. I got ideas from the outfits worn by Anne Boleyn in the show The Tudors, which I really like.
She likes to show she is comfortable with her sexuality, without feeling ashamed for having fun with men as she thinks that both women and men should be able to act in the same way.  Besides her regular clothes, I also see her wearing softer and masculine tunics as she trains, showing how much she loves the culture of the East continents. Even though she doesn't like to study, Baela enjoys reading High Valyrian poems and listening to Lysene music, as she prefers to sing over playing it. I can imagine her spending time flying and staying with her dragon more than her siblings. She will become very fond of her dragon, Moondancer.  She will also train with her brothers with the sword and be very good at it.
Because Baela became a such strong and intense character in my mind, I started to think that she needed an equally strong and enigmatic counterpart that matched it, but at the same time opposed it and gave it a hard time: or in reality the opposite, that is someone she could challenge and confront, someone equally crazy and reckless, but by the opposite and darker energy.
And so that at any moment this post headcanon "The Blacks and the Greens" has become somehow a story focused on Baela and Aemond, or at least with a particular focus on the relationship and the clashes between these two.
Let me make it clear that the choice to "pair" these two characters were not based on a double interpretation of the original story, which clearly shows a strong dislike for Aemond and the Greens in general. The decision to highlight Aemond's character was solely influenced by the irresistible charm of Ewan Mitchell, the actor who played the role in the television adaption, which unfortunately clouded my judgment. To be absolutely clear, I have never felt any form of empathy towards him during my entire fanfiction journey, except for some mere pity.
There were multiple factors that led me to spare the lives of Aemond and Aegon, as I believed it would be more gratifying to let them suffer as they experienced the consequences of all the actions that they made thought the first half of The Blacks and the Greens and the accompanying disgrace of their defeat, rather than simply executing them on the spot.
In this headcanon, Aemond will undergo significant transformations, causing a profound shift in his mentality and character due to experiencing a series of intense and traumatic events. As a result, this version of Aemond will differ significantly from both the Bookcanon and the Blacks and the Greens.  The decision was serendipitously influenced by reading a particular sentence in the fanfic where the detestable Aemond ridicules Daemon for allowing Rhaenyra to mistreat him and become submissive to his sister, referring to him as a "slut." Aemond expresses his reluctance to ever allow a woman to control him as his uncle did.
Well, these two simple sentences made me decide that I need to create my own headcanon where Aemond would become the exact thing that he always derided his uncle for: a "loser" who would be bossed around by all the women in his life. And not only command but as a great misogynistic bastard who was, after touching the bottom of the funds, it would be a woman to save him and put him on track, making him feel indebted to her.
So this is how this literary experiment was born.
A simple and very banal enemies-to-lovers story with A LOT of drama and a bunch of dragons, but that needs the perfect setting to work, for this reason, most of the work I did was on figuring out how to set the side character and the background events in a way that could serve my goal.
As I specified many times in this exaggeratedly verbose disclaimer and in the tags this is not actual fanfic, I will not so use a prostatic style like many other stories in this platform, still, I want my readers to have a pleasing experience while reading this work, the result of a very elaborate mental wank and my pressing need to take my mind off my real duties, so I decided to write the whole thing as if it were a cross between historical writing and the introduction to a Greek tragedy.
Imagine, just like in Fire and Blood, that an obviously bored scholar set out to write the memoirs of Rhaenyra and her deeds; as I tried to make up this story I even tried to figure out the timeline of our characters' birth, some of them are the canon ones used in the books, while the others are the ones I tried to calculate trying to use some mathematics and the information that the writer give us on her fic. This means that it's not very precise, but I hope it's remotely accurate.
Aemond= 110
Daeron =114
Addam=114
Alyn=115
Larra= 115
Aegon III = 118
Viserys = 119
Daenaera = 120
Baela and Rhaena =121
Visenya= 125
Jaehaerys and Jaehaera = 123
Maelor = 127
Baelor = 130

When The Flower Blooms - Prologue
Yeah, I finally decided that this story needs to be continued. I am starting from complete scratch, but I’m old now and I have to relearn how to use tumblr 😭 Cross-posted on my ao3.
Sakura spun back around in her chair to face the large pile of paperwork that still sat in front of her.
"I can't be like Tsunade-sama..." Sakura groaned. "Back to work!"
She fulfilled her dream of opening a mental ward to help the children of the village handle the effect of the war, and it was going smoothly. Sure, from time to time she would have to lose some sleep to finish all the paperwork she had to do, but it was all worth it in the end to her.
It was always in her nature to help people. Even as a weak Genin, Sakura did her best to help her teammates and others around her. When Sasuke left the village for the first time, Sakura realized how helpless she really was. She became Tsunade-sama's apprentice and took up medical ninjutsu, but little did she know how proficient she would be in the field. Six years later, she's surpassed her master and is known as the best medical ninja in the village, perhaps in the whole world, and is one of the strongest Kunoichi of her time.
She has really bloomed into something beautiful.
Sakura spared a quick glance away from her paperwork when she heard a knock on the office door.
"Come in..." Sakura said.
Long blonde hair peeked its way through the door.
"Hey, Sakura!"
Sakura's brows pulled together as she continued to fill out her paperwork.
Ino slammed her hand on the desk, nearly scattering the files all over the floor of her friend's office. "Sakura!"
"That wasn't very nice of you," Ino dismissed Sakura's underwhelming response with a wave of her hand and rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. I have a patient to get to soon, but I was passing by and wanted to ask you about girl's night tonight. Tenten, Hinata and I are going out to BBQ! You in?"
Sakura sighed and rested her head in the palm of her hand. "Sorry Ino, but I'm busy tonight," gesturing to the stacks upon stacks of papers in front of her.
"You always seem to find time for work but not for your friends! This has got to be the millionth time you've missed girl's night!"
"I know Ino, and I'm really sorry. I'll try to make it next time, okay?"
"Oh you better, or I am dragging you out this office and to the hot springs! Got that?"
Sakura sighed, "Yeah, I got it, Ino."
"And don't overwork yourself, ok? I need you to sleep in your bed tonight, not that old chair again."
"Ok, Ino. Thank you. But you shouldn't keep your patient waiting-" By the time Sakura finished her sentence, Ino was already out the door. She leaned back in her chair, looking at the blank roof above her.
"Over work, huh?"
Sakura took the moment of peace to ponder over what Ino said. She knows that she's been working a lot recently, but nothing would get done without some sacrifice. Sakura would much rather overwork herself to the point of exhaustion than have the people she's known for her entire life struggle.
But she made the decision to listen to her best friend's advice and make it a goal to sleep in her own bed tonight.
"Alright! As soon as I finish all this work, I'll grab some food and head on home!"
Now with the motivation of food on her mind, Sakura began to tackle the documents in front of her.

Hey, Folks!
Introduction post (I made this account like 5 months ago, why am I even making this???) My name is MJ, but you can also call me Nito. I go by any pronoun! I am a writer/artist for the Heathers community, but I also enjoy other stuff such as Be More Chill, Ride the cyclone, Helluva Boss, Grease, ect. I started actually writing some months ago, around september 2022. I used to have a wattpad account, but it was incredibly cringe and I ended up changing its name and privating all its fics. Now I have an AO3 account where I post (less-cringe) mostly Heathers fics, I'll leave all my social media at the end of this post. I started drawing ever since I could hold a pencil properly, though that doesn't mean I'm very good at it. I normally prefer writing over drawing because I don't like how I draw, but sometimes I'll post my drawings and fanarts. Fun Facts About Me! I reside in Mexico, so I am not fully aware of all the stuff that happens in the U.S. Trans boy (They/He pronouns, mostly he tho) END. This account is for posting dumb stuff, like drabbles, unfinished stories, writing ideas, dumb fanart, and many more! I honestly don't post a lot, but I think that the stuff I post is kinda worth it, but that is decided by you. Ships I enjoy! Boyf Riends (Jeremy Heere x Michael Mell) Mcnamawyer (Veronica Sawyer x Heather Mcnamara) Chanshaw (Heather Chandler x Veronica Sawyer) Verbie (Veronica Mayday x Barbie Wire) Noel Gruber x Mischa Bachinski Stonnie (Veronica Sawyer x Tracy/Stoner chick) It's mostly a crackship, I still enjoy it tho. Stoliz (Stolas Goetia x Blitzo) Asmodeous/Ozzie x Fizzarolli You could perhaps request me to write any of those ships above or any other ships for that fandom, I'll gladly do it! Social media! My 2022
I see a lot of people writing posts or threads about things they did in 2022. I don't usually do this sort of thing for a few reasons. One is that I'm aware that it can be a bit pretentious and a bit frustrating for others to read if they had a really bad year. For that reason, consider this a soft content warning for "yet another post reflecting on 2022." The other reason is that I don't think I've accomplished anything worth reflecting about, and am quite disappointed in myself and my 2022!
But...maybe that self-conscious feeling is exactly why I should force myself to write this.
A few things I accomplished in 2022:
I wrote some stuff
I put up the final chapter of my Sonic fanfic [although not the epilogue yet, sorry readers!] titled "Have You Heard From Sonic Lately?" Of all things I did this year, this is probably one of the things I'm most proud of? I think I'm decent at writing these characters and I like playing in this world in a mostly-canonical way, following guidelines painted by the games, the IDW comics, and ironically now Sonic Prime.
I put up Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of Soul Symphony: Abandoned Encore. SS:AE is prose sequel story to my 2010-2015 webcomic Soul Symphony. These characters and this story mean a lot to me, but I left them behind as relics as 2015. I decided that the year of my 10-year high school reunion would be a fitting time to look back on these characters.
Side note: The comments I receive on Ao3 are so nice??? They're so heartwarming, they make my day. Something about someone enjoying my writing is 100x more satisfying than someone enjoying a drawing I did, and the way people express their feedback is really meaningful. I wanna cry every time. Thank you to everyone who has read my stuff.
I put out two meaty pieces: a review of Cam Marshall's comic "Matchmaker", and my year-end reflection titled "I Forgot How To Climb The Mountain."
I've wrote a few mini blog posts scattered across Cohost, Tumblr, and Patreon, which you can find in the #blogofkylelab tag.
Behind the scenes, I've continued my work as a Writer working on Rhythm Doctor as part of 7th Beat Games.
Art and Game Dev
I...barely drew anything, so that was kind of a disappointment. But the few things I did draw I mostly liked! The very little time/energy I have for drawing these past few years is always a tough pill to swallow, but I'm glad that when I DO make time for it, it is still pretty fun.
I've continued working on Rhythm Doctor and A Dance of Fire and Ice as a part of 7th Beat Games. We put out some cool collab levels.
I helped launch ADOFAI's paid DLC expansion, Neo Cosmos! Directed by TaroNuke, it's a really cool expansion with its own identity and I love the new mechanics and focus on character/narrative.
I worked on Squeak N' Seek, a short gamejam project we made as a birthday present for Giacomo, the Lead Programmer at 7th Beat Games.
Other Stuff
I've been running @IndieGamesOfCohost for a few months now! Shares of indie game posts on Cohost, posts spotlighting new releases of lesser-known titles, and a series of Indie Interviews with fellow gamedevs. This has been very satisfying for me, and I hope I can keep the momentum going in 2023.
I'm forcing myself to write these things down to convince myself that I accomplished something, because for the past few years I haven't been able to shake the feeling that "I haven't accomplished anything." I miss the days where I drew quite often, especially between 2015 and 2018, and I made illustrations that I still cherish to this day. I feel like a "shell" of my younger self still, which is a ridiculous thing to say. Someday, I'll find my way back to a place where I'm satisfied with my output.
I hope your 2022 was bearable! Let's all work together in the new year.

on the subject of my new PC, my continued thoughts:
The entire display assembly seems pretty chinsy, both the hinges and the thickness of the screen. I think the screen thickness thing is just a computers these days thing that I'm just not used to because my newest computer until I bought this one was from 2014. (my old gaming PC). That gaming PC still had an externally removable battery (a nifty feature that I can't believe tech companies all collectively decided to do away with. the PC people were copying apple's homework on that and it was a bad choice)

The fans are not as loud as the reviewers made it seem. Not sure if this is just because I am used to incredibly loud 10+ year old fans that are cranked to max when you have too many photoshop windows open. I also test played civ v on it last night and the fans were quiet enough that I really couldn't hear them at all with my headphones in. Could be that the reviews also just play newer and fancier video games than me. (I'm not a WOW or COD player).

It does get somewhat hot around the vents around hour 1.5 of civ, but it is way less hot than my old computer or my macbook so I'm going to give that a pass. It's not generating that much heat having firefox tabs of tumblr, ao3, reddit, 10x wikipedia, and 10x misc articles and research. It started to kick up a little when I added 1x photoshop instance. It was also fairly hot with loudish fans while it was downloading like 100gbs of software, video games etc

Huge fan of the keyboard feel and the groovy blue backlight. I might turn the backlight off to reduce battery consumption. It's a little bit wider and larger than my mac so when I switch to it for games it's always a weird moment of adjustment.

That radeon GPU SLAPS y'all graphics as I've literally never experienced them on a computer before. Like this computer's GPU has 10GB of video memory and that really makes a difference. My last gaming laptop had 5gb of video memory in its GPU, so this is massive upgrade!

That Samsung NVMe SSD is SO fast y'all. I need to get me some kind of sata to PCIe or NVMe adapter for my macbook. Between the 16GB of RAM and that hard drive this thing boots in like all of about 4 seconds. holy shit. love that.

Still hate windows 11. However, though the use of copious regedits, the installation of an open source system patcher, the creation of several XML files in the user library, and the running of several lines of code through elevated powershell and the uninstallation of a bunch of bloatware it has become tolerable to use. still looking for a solution to kill the "search the web" feature in the start menu search so that it only searches the system. Also looking for a solution to remove the recommend searches from bing and the search suggestions. Doing all of this took many hours of research and fiddling but god was it worth it. Maybe I'll make a post on this later so any of you who have to deal with this can fix this problem without hours of research.

'Til All Are One - Notes
I finally have my shit together! Kinda. This fic is archived on AO3. I'm trying to decide if it's worth posting it anywhere else. It has the highest Rating/Warnings combo on AO3 mostly for select scenes; the vast majority of it is vanilla. AO3's tagging system is a mess, so my tags got an overhaul today, and they'll probably need a future overhaul as more characters and pairings appear. I am leaving the comments/replies up so would-be readers can also check out the comments to get a feel for the content. Tag wrangling on Tumblr is constantly changing, and thanks to the sketchy status of how certain things get reported and blocked, I'm not going to put the actual fic content in these posts. I'll post the headers/tags/trigger warnings in the body of the post and link to the chapter on AO3.
Real places will exist in the fic (The United States, China, France, the Pacific Ocean, Minnesota, etc.) but I'm going to be replacing company/product/celebrity/politician names with "parody" names and pastiche placeholders. "The President of the United States" is pretty recognizable in any of the cartoons he's in, regardless if he's an actual caricature, because "old white guy in a suit" has historically been pretty representative. The feel of this fic is heavily inspired by the 80s G1 cartoon series, and they were great for making very generic but also very recognizable placeholder characters. When it comes to brands, I get a kick out of the anime habit of replacing brands with recognizable variants (7-Eleven becoming 8/11 or Burger King becoming Burger Knight) which also helps turn aside complaints about content. That said, relying on the crutch of "it's just a parody" or "it's a fake place" also let them get away with some absolutely gross and hurtful stereotypes, particularly when it came to people and places we weren't politically friendly to. There will be no "Abdul Fakkadi" or "Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya" in my fic - that kind of crap is better left as relics of history to be observed and learned from but not repeated. That's the big reason I'm keeping place names real - it forces both me as a writer as well as readers of the fic to be better informed and more thoughtful toward the people, cultures, history, and natural environments of those places. At its core, this is a Transformers fic that draws inspiration from most of the Transformers media but isn't directly connected to any one canon. It's intended to be standalone enough that readers don't have to really know much backstory or many of the characters to jump in. It's arguably a crossover (and is now tagged as such on AO3 now that there are G.I. Joe characters involved), but it's less about putting a spotlight on the additional series and more about pulling those characters in to the Transformers story. You're a Transformers fan who never saw the 80s G.I. Joe cartoon and never read any of the comics or the TF crossover comics? No problem! Just like with the Transformers canon, this fic will fill in gaps (and create its own canon) so you don't need to have an in-depth knowledge of them. Direct link to jump in without individual chapter summaries/warnings: https://archiveofourown.org/works/290120 :: 'Til All Are One by Alex Summanus
Rating: Explicit
Archive Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con
Categories: Multi, Other
Fandoms: Transformers, G.I. Joe
Relationships: Megatron/Kup, Flint/Lady Jaye (More to come)
Characters: A lot (large chunks of the cast from both series will eventually make their way into the fic)

Language: English

a passing glimpse
heaven gives it glimpses only to those not in a position to look too close ~ Robert Frost, A Passing Glimpse _______________________________
Jack Fenton was eleven and he was an explorer, just like Davey Crockett or Buzz Aldrin. He’d declared so to his mother that very morning but she had simply rolled her eyes and told him to get on with his chores. That’s all his parents wanted him for, chores and his duty to the family. But Jack knew there was so much more out there and he was determined to find it.
Ma had told him never to go into the woods alone but Jack brought his rifle with him so he wasn’t exactly alone. He adjusted his coontail hat and hiked the strap of the rifle higher on his shoulder. Pa would probably be mad that Jack had taken it without permission but punishments and chores were far away, not when there was adventure to be had here and now.
The woods was an okay place to hang out. There were always animals around to sneak up on and study, plenty of trees for climbing and plenty of rock or sticks to fend have pretend battles with. Jack wanted nothing but adventure in his life, Ma said that peace was a blessing but he craved more. He felt like he was brimming with energy, always getting yelled for talking to loud or moving too fast. The woods were wide reaching and deep and yet Jack felt constrained by them, he wanted more.
Jack scrambled over rocks and pretended he was climbing on the moon, in search of aliens. He picked up a stick and batted it against the trunks of trees and acted as if he were engaging in battle with a sworn enemy. Staring up at the setting sun, Jack let himself be pulled away from his dull present. It was only when he realized he couldn’t see his breath fogging anymore in the midwinter air did he realize how dark it had gotten, having snuck up on him suddenly while he’d been daydreaming.
Oh fudge, Ma was probably going to throw a fit when he got back. Pa would just glare at him, radiating anger and disappointment. They’d tell him over and over that they didn’t understand why he felt he had to act out, why he couldn’t just obey them like his sisters? Jack wishes he was better with words to explain that he wasn’t like them, that their world wasn’t his. Only he didn’t know where his own was just yet. He kicked a stone and grudgingly turned to head back.
Just as he was turning, a faded light caught the edges of his vision. It was a soft pulsing glow, like someone had lit a candle somewhere nearby. Only candles didn’t feel cold like this. Jack shivered and pulled his jacket around him tighter, it wasn’t cold enough to snow but the air seemed drastically colder than it had been a minute ago. Ma said that Jack was filled with guts where most boys had sense so of course he had to see. He unstrapped the small rifle from his shoulder but kept it pointed low at the ground like Pa had taught him. Slowly he approached, the strange glow radiating from a particular section of wood. He passed through a particularly thick cluster of trees and saw it.
It was a man, at least that was Jack’s first thought until his eyes took in the rest of the apparition. Though it looked young, it’s hair was white as snow. The ends misted softly in the air, tossing in a gentle wind that existed only for it. Jack could see most of the way through the strange creature who didn’t seem to care that it ought to be on the ground instead of floating above it. It wore something that was black and white, a white cape glittered around it’s shoulders and the black on the inside twinkled like stars. A crown of icy crystal floated above it’s head, perfectly balanced.
Jack had read about kings in his books. He hadn’t cared about the politics of being a ruler or how one person or another was chosen. All he’d really cared about was their graves and the treasures and knowledge they held. Staring at this ghostly king floating peacefully in the woods near his home, Jack realized that graves could hold other things too.
The woods were deadly quiet, it felt like Jack was the only living thing on the planet, like the spirit’s presence had driven everything else off. Everything but Jack who had guts but no brains. He should go, should flee back home but found he couldn’t not just out of fear but wonder too. As weird as it was to say, the ghost was beautiful, ethereal. He was something Jack didn’t understand but longed to. For the first time in his young life, he wanted something in front of him and not some faraway dream.
He leaned forward and the barrel of his rifle scraped against the bark of the tree. The apparition, which had been staring in the other direction turned it’s eyes in his direction. Jack lifted his rifle on reflex when it’s glowing green eyes landed on him. Almost as soon as the gun was raised, he lowered it. Jack can’t say why only that when that ghost looked at him, when he saw that face, he couldn’t bear to point the weapon at it. You only pointed your gun at things you intended to shoot.
“Are you-” the ghost began softly, floating gently forward. While Jack had been content to watch from afar, once the spirit moved towards him did Jack’s deeply buried survival instincts kick in. He turned tail and ran. He ran so fast his coontail hat flew off and landed somewhere behind it. Maybe it would be enough of a gift to stop that thing from chasing him, for trespassing in a place where the living were not welcomed. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, stumbling and staggering over loose rocks or roots but never slowing until the lights of his family’s cabin came into view.
Ma didn’t believe his story and neither did Pa. He did get the lecture he expected and more chores piled on top of the ones he’d already ignored. His sisters teased him for his runaway imagination and asked when he was going to grow up. Lying in bed that night, Jack wondered if what he saw was real. It had seemed real, if not the spirit but the way it made him feel. Like he was a real explorer, not just a pretend one in a silly hat but someone who had stepped just over the edge of the unknown and gotten a taste. And who could stop after just one bite? He needed more, whatever that thing was, Jack Fenton was going to find it again. Even if it took him his whole life. Unbeknownst to him, it would only take him twenty-eight years to see the spirit again, blue eyes twinkling from inside a baby blanket.
Life can take a lot of twists and turns, some of them sharper when one is friends with a Master of Time. An encounter becomes a story which becomes a passion. A passion for understanding leads to a passion for a young woman which results in a blue eyed baby boy. A boy who became a ghost, a hero and a king and let himself be summoned by his timely friend to the deep woods late at night for an important meeting. Neither father nor son understood how deftly they’d been placed, like pieces on a chess board. How a whole life can be made and the best timeline preserved by a passing chance and a passing glimpse.

Hi 💞
I don't know if you still post favorite Fics of others people but if you do I can forever recommend Baghdad Waltz by Dreadnought ♥️
It's a tough read and it's very long but so worth it. ♥️ ( Also people tend to be scared of the bittersweet ending Tag but I promise the ending is perfect!)
Thanks, Andrea. I'm always happy to hear other people's favourites. I started reccing Stucky stories because I really love discovering new fics through fic recs. Last summer, a lot of the fic rec blogs weren't posting as much so I thought I'd do my own.
I've heard really good things about Baghdad Waltz. I've been on its AO3 page a few times. I'm sure it's amazing, and am pretty sure that if I let myself get sucked into it, I would be absolutely hooked. There's a couple of reasons why I haven't.
One reason is the length. I'm not averse to long fics, but I tend to read very intensively. I'm a quick reader, but while I'm reading a story, I live in that world. Real life practicalities mean that I don't have the time or brain space to sink myself into something so long.
But the main reason I haven't read it is the tags, including that bittersweet ending tag. I love fanfic because people get to explore what they'd like to read and write. It means you get a lot more feelgood fluff (and more tentacle porn) than you do in mainstream published media. I'm not in a mental place right now where I can devote myself to a story that will break my heart and not put it back together by the end.
I've looked at the tags and have decided it's not for me. And I do feel guilty, because I'm sure it's a brilliant and well-written story, and it's a bit silly to only want a happy ending. But right now, that's what's making me feel good, and I have enough going on that I want this hobby to only make me feel good. Maybe one day, I'll look at the tags of that fic and decide that I am in the right headspace for it, but today isn't that day, and I have to let myself be ok with that.
But thank you so much for writing in and reccing it. It's on my radar!

Rejected Requests Part 11
Hello everyone! I am unfortunately back with another set of Rejected Requests (Pt 1, Pt 2, Pt 3, Pt 4, Pt 5, Pt 6 , Pt 7 , Pt 8 , Pt 9 , Pt 10)
I understand this is very disappointing for many of you (especially those that have been waiting for a long time). I promise it has nothing to do with you, and mostly it’s just because my brain has decided it doesn’t want to cooperate.
I will post the rejected fics below the cut. I want to give you the opportunity to ask another Writer (check the list of Writers currently seeking requests here! It’s been recently updated!) For some, I’ve already allowed another author to take a whack at it, and I’ll link to them below!
Here is the list for anyone who might want to pursue the request with someone else, or for any writers that are looking for inspiration.
ALL ARE NSFW, 18+ ONLY
Tumblr media
I really fought with myself for this one. I really did. I feel like it's such a rite of passage fic, but I just couldn't get myself hyped up for it. Maybe because there are a lot of them (although I can't think of any off the top off my head), maybe it's just my vague dislike for mild exhibitionism. Idunno.
I won't write it off forever. Maybe one day I'll find that perfect spin on it and write it, but you'll have to send me another request for that. With a lot of these requests, I tend to assume that the requester isn't around anymore. Everyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Tumblr media
My wonderful friend @reiding-recs already had a fic like this planned, so you can follow her to see it written!
Tumblr media
My friend has agreed to finish the outline I have for this fic! I called it "Shortbread," but I'm not sure what she'll call it. She's not on Tumblr, however, so you'll have to follow her on Wattpad (babyleaf1) or Ao3 (babyleaf). She's worth it, promise!
Tumblr media
Sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, I am very picky with my Kyle fics. I'm not terribly inspired by him, so I don't want to agree to it if I know I'll never get to it. For anyone reading this, though, just know Kyle fics actually get pretty great turnout compared to other MGG characters!
Tumblr media
PLEASE ITS BEEN EIGHT MONTHS IM SO SORRY. God, time is wild. Anyway, I really do love possessive Spencer, and this is so unique. I just know I won't get around to it. My friend @omgbigfluffwriting agreed to take it, though! Feel free to message her!
Tumblr media
I'm "rejecting" this because it's actually part of a fic I have planned already! It'll be the ending part of "Centerfold" which is a mini-series I'll be writing after TB&TB. Sorry for the wait, and feel free to send it to someone else!
Tumblr media
This is so cute, but I've had it for too long and still don't have any inspiration for a plot 😭 @reidgraygubler has shown an interest, though! So feel free to send them a message.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I love this, I just know I'll go way overboard and write 10k that I'll never finish 😭 My lovely friend @reid-me-a-story has agreed to write this, instead!
Tumblr media
I'm rejecting this just because it's very similar to a number of other fics I have and I just didn't have any inspiration to write it again. The wonderful @spectaclespencer wants to write this, however, so go check out their page! I know she'll do great.
Tumblr media
Hey friend! I am unable to write this just because the nature of it will be triggering for me. That being said, I had a number of people jump on it 😅 @mercy-burning is writing it for sure, I believe.
Thank you for your support. I appreciate all of you more than I can explain!
