Do you think Sun Wukong burned spirit money for Macaque?
Do you think he ever did it for him during the journey?
Do you think he buried Macaques body with offerings and spirit objects?
Do you think he set up a small funeral or did he do it alone in shame?
Do you think he had a shrine up somewhere where he lit incense and candles for his fallen brother?
Do you think he tore it down after Macaque came back, cursing himself for being dumb enough to grieve someone he hated?
Do you think it’s still there, in some dark room, left untouched for centuries?

I’ll forever be grateful to Rob, Rhi, the Pratchett Estate & Narrativia for fighting for Good Omens.
It’s exceedingly clear that we, as fans, owe them A LOT. And we need to thank them. And we DON’T do that by acting as petulant children and not watching what they create. So don’t boycott, or whatever some people are calling for. Yes, polite calls for more time, budget, etc are great. Childish tantrums, no. It just ends up in your toys being taken away. Trust me.
I’ve found a lot of people’s assumptions regarding the finale’s plot interesting. Terry never witnessed the fan reaction to the series. Sure, there was shipping of Aziraphale & Crowley, but nothing like after it hit TV.
I doubt he would’ve really cared all that much, either.
His focus would be on the intricacies of the Armageddon 2.0 storyline for this finale. The zombies (dudes [gn], there’ll be undead everywhere), Jesus coming back, etc. We know he’d want to discuss the underlying nuances of the politics in Heaven & Hell and how they’re just two sides of the same coin. And isn’t it all of Them vs all of Us?
Of course our Ineffable Duo will be there. But don’t forget they weren’t actually the sole focus of Good Omens, the novel. The one Terry wrote 75% of.
I really hope we’ll get 1941 Pt 3, and a few other bits of historical context, but for the most part, that’ll be left to us to write in fanfiction.
GO The Finale will, in all likelihood, focus almost exclusively on the here & now.
I’d really recommend to anyone struggling to have a (re-re-re-x infinite)re-read of the novel, and other Pratchett works, particularly his Discworld novels. Small Gods and Pyramids are good ones for religion.
Anyway, enough from me. I’ll definitely be writing more in-universe fanfic, especially as it’s unlikely we’ll see any of the historical scenes I’ve been wanting to research. I’ve got a BIG work planned which I’m doubly committed to writing now.

Hi. I’m sending this anonymously but if tumblr glitches and it isn’t anonymous please don’t post this because I’m absolutely completely entirely mortified.
I’m 20 FtM. About a year and a half ago, when I moved out and started at college, I discovered fandom, and began to get really into reading fics on AO3. My parents had heavily restricted my internet access growing up, and as new adult I began to discovered the barrage of content online.
Soon enough, I was spending about an hour or two every night reading smut fics. I never thought anything of it, because, well, it’s just words, it’s not *actually* porn, right?
Recently I did start watching some explicit videos but tried to limit myself to only once or twice a month because the shame I felt as well as the strange dissatisfaction just wasn’t worth it.
After doing some research, I found a study that said that watching porn for more than an hour a week was unhealthy. I thought, yeah, okay, fair enough.
Then I realised: does my fanfiction reading count as pornography?
I kept thinking to myself that because it was text it didn’t count, but —does it? Is that the reason that lately I’ve been feeling strangely dissatisfied and empty after reading/watching? Will I feel like this when I eventually have sex?? (still a virgin, mainly for dysphoria reasons)
I found all this stuff online that says porn addictions can screw you over for life, that you can’t find sexual satisfaction with a partner.
Should I cut back?
I don’t normally masturbate while consuming porn. I feel too ashamed. I normally just sit there and read/watch.
Am I a porn addict?????? Should I quit reading smut? Help.
If you can’t tell, I wasn’t raised in a very sex positive environment and I feel very ashamed. I don’t really know who to talk to and I just feel very guilty so I’m resorting to an anonymous ask on Tumblr.
If you read this, thank you for taking the time. I appreciate it.
— Jason
hi Jason,
I don't think you're a porn addict. I think you're probably just an anxious 20 year old from a pretty restrictive background and now that you have a little more freedom you're kind of nervous about it, which is very normal.
I want to be super clear: written porn is porn. porn is any sexually explicit material designed to titillate; it's existed since WAY before the moving picture existed and it will exist long after the internet has crumbled to dust. people like porn! and it's okay to like porn. the text-based stuff is particularly high on the list of porn that's pretty unambiguously fine, morally-speaking, because you never have to worry that the performer you're watching has had their video stolen by pornhub or that, god forbid, anyone onscreen isn't a willing participant, but I want to be super clear that liking sexually explicit photos or videos of real people is also 100% fine.
obviously I have no idea what study you read, but I'd be cautious about any study being boiled down to such black and white, attention-grabbing headlines. you can interpret a study to mean virtually anything if you want to, and there are a lot of interest groups with a vested interest in demonizing porn. if reading smutty fan fic makes you happy and isn't interfering with the rest of your life, you should do that.
unfortunately it sounds like it's not making you happy lately, dissatisfied and empty feelings. in the kindest way possible, I don't think much of that is being caused by the porn itself. it sounds like it's coming from your gnawing worry that you're a porn addict. maybe it's best to take a little step away from porn and smutty fic for a while, if only until you feel able to engage with it without feeling bad.
also, speaking of porn addiction: that's a very dubious condition, and one that's not scientifically or medically recognized. to be certain, people can develop a reliance on porn that disrupts their daily function and can wreak havoc on their lives, but that's true of anything that causes your brain to spit out happy chemicals. anything that become a maladaptive coping mechanism, including and especially things that are fine and even necessary in small doses. sleeping, exercising, and going shopping are all things that can be life-ruining if done to harmful excess, but that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong if you like to sleep in, go for runs, or browse your favorite online stores every once in a while.
if reading smut isn't causing you to skip out on your more important obligations, fail to take care of yourself, or bringing on bankruptcy, I think you're probably alright. the biggest danger I see here is you beating yourself over the head with your own anxiety about this, which may be a sign that it's a good idea to take a step back for entirely different reasons than you were worried about.

Earth 1317
You were best friends with Miguel O’hara ever since highschool. he was always a dork but he was there for you, he stood up for you, and you admired every bit of him.
You have been living together for two months now, both of you had graduated and now Miguel was in college studying whatever nerds study. You weren’t to interested in Miguel’s work it always bored you in everyway but you still pretended to be interested when he ranted about it.
Miguel made his way down the hallway of your shared small apartment, he opened the door to your messy room flipping on the switch causing you to squint your eyes due to the harsh sudden light, “Dude!” you say covering your eyes. You had been searching for a job for the past few weeks in order to help Miguel with the bills but due to your piercings and careless attitude you were getting nowhere, he had offered to help you look.
“I’ve got good news do you wanna hear it or not?” he said leaning on the door frame, you snarled, you hated when he dangled information over your head. “sure whatever.” you huffed, fidgeting with your hands, “good. because Alchemax desperately needs a janitor, they will pretty much take anyone at this rate.” he said with a tone that almost made you laugh. You weren’t too crazy about the idea of being a JANITOR the idea made your head hurt, don’t the nerds at Alchemax keep the place clean enough? you thought. “A janitor??” you groaned,
Miguel furrowed his eyebrows, “You don’t have many options, plus I think this could be a good learning experience for you” he said gesturing to your room, you threw a pillow at him. “you’re such an ass,” you said holding back a smile, “But seriously, this is the ONLY thing you could find?” you pouted, he said your name sternly “You need this. plus I get to see you at work,” his expression softened to something more empathetic.
You sighed finding his expression convincing, “yeah okay.” you mumbled, “Look I know this isn’t the most exciting job, but you’re gonna be fine,” he sat on your bed causing the mattress to sink with him, “I know.” you looked up at him, dark circles under his eyes from countless nights of intense researching, he wore square black glasses and his eyes were a deep brown. you slumped on your bed looking up at the ceiling, “I just wish it were better you know?”
“It will, I swear we just have to give it time.” he said softly, you smiled at him. “Yeah alright O’hara I just better not be cleaning up any shit.”
The next day Miguel woke you up, he wakes up earlier then you for work and you hated this. He watched you with a cup of coffee in his hand as you struggled groggily through your morning, you brushed your teeth and angrily at your cereal. when It was finally time to leave you both walked to the bus stop because neither of you had a car. Miguel thought this was a good opportunity for exercise, and of course you hated this. he was always a pretty muscular guy considering the fact that he was always hidden away in his lab, he was also tall and caught the attention of a lot of people but never seemed to return it.
You arrived at Alchemax, the place was fucking massive. people in lab coats swarming the place, you thought about running as fast as you could out of there but remembered your conversation with Miguel. He also wore a lab coat that went down to the back of his knees, Miguel greeted more of his nerdy work buddies as the both of you made your way inside the building. In the hallways you could see inside the labs, every room made for something different. Miguel had to pull you away from some of them urging you to continue the tour he was giving you.
As you walked down the hallway there were tables holding more sciencey stuff, you reached out to touch but Miguel grabbed your hand. “Okay, ground rules. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING or even THINK about it either, got it?” he said sternly, “ohhkayyyyy.” you mocked him, “I’m serious, this place isn’t a joke.” he said continuing to walk, you caught up with him, “Well im gunna need to touch things if I’m gonna work here,” you smiled. “Don’t be a smartass,” he said pointing a finger at you.
You stopped at a door where Miguel took out some keys, it must’ve been his lab. He flipped on the lights and it wasn’t nearly as exciting as the others were,  “Alright, stay here I'll bring in my boss so he can meet you, then you can start cleaning up the shit or whatever,” he explained. You huffed at that last line, “yup.” you said holding up a thumb slumping in one of his rolley chairs. He made his way to the door you both entered in and turned to face you again “Don’t fuck this up,” he said pointing at you.
When he left the room was quiet, tooooo quiet. You spun around in the chair Miguel’s words ringing in your ears “Dont fuck this up.” I wouldn’t fuck this up you thought, but your boredom was starting to get the best of you. You got up from the chair roaming around Miguel’s lab, lots of paper work you thought. Your eyes finally made your way to the door, he wouldn’t be mad if I just peaked into another room right?
And you did just that, most rooms had more lab nerds in them but a dark room peaked your interest. The door was left open, this is totally not sketchy you thought. Nobody was in this room, in the dark you could see the glistening of test tubes, you squatted down to one of them. Spiders. A shit ton of them too ,you rested your hands on the table not noticing the little critter that crawled onto your hand exploring your fingers until it found a place to BITE. The pain caught your attention you shook your hands sucking the air in through your teeth.
Seconds after Miguel burst into the room “What are you doing? I told you to stay!” he scolded dragging you out of the room, he pinched the bridge of his nose lifting his glasses in the process. You were still holding your bitten hand feeling guilty now, “¿Qué voy a hacer contigo?” he sighed. You knew he was pissed when he spoke in Spanish.
“Look I’m sorry, can we just go?” you said almost teary eyed, the meeting with Miguel’s boss was boring for the most part other then the fact that you couldn’t stop sweating. You felt tired all of a sudden blaming it on the fact that you had woken up so early, when you got home you basically jumped face first onto your bed. You had gotten the job, you were happy but something just didn’t feel right. Miguel was kinda pissed at you for running off too, and you didn’t blame him, you slept the rest of the day away.
The next morning the light peaking through your curtains felt more intense, you groaned and covered your face with your blanket. It had felt like you had ridden 100 roller coasters, when you uncovered your face again it felt worse. Your ears rang and you were so sweaty, your door opened, that sound even was louder than usual. It was Miguel, “alright sleepyhead time for work,” he said tugging at your blanket. “Miguel, it feels like im gunna puke,” you whined, he said your name “Please no excuses, it’s your first day get up.” he said less playfully, but after seeing the beads of sweat on your forehead he moved closer.
He placed a hand on your head, “Jesus, your burning up.” his voice now a whisper, when he removed his hand he sighed and rubbed his face, “You’re lucky my boss liked you, I can cover for you but just this once okay?” his voice sounded empathetic but stern,  you nodded your head.
About an hour after Miguel left you finally got the strength to roll out of bed, mostly because you were so oddly hungry. You made your way to the kitchen closing every single curtain until it was dark enough for you, grabbing the milk you sat it on the table now reaching for your favorite cereal you pour a good amount before attempting to put the box down realizing it was completely stuck to your hand.
You struggle a bit, shaking your hands frantically causing cereal to fly everywhere, you slip on a few pieces of cereal and now you’re on the floor and magically the box is now unstuck from your hands landing right on your face. You lay there for a few seconds trying to process whatever the fuck just happened, you lift your hands to your face closely observing them. “What the actual fuck.” you whisper to yourself.
The rest of the day was even weirder, more stuff sticking to your hands, you even caught a fucking fly in mid air, What was going on with you? Later on in the day you decided to get some fresh air, you needed to think, maybe you were going crazy? After your walk you made your way back home, catching Miguel entering your apartment at the same time as you were, he notices you, “Don’t tell me that whole sick thing this morning was just to get out of work.” he grumbled staring directly at you, you stood there not really knowing what to say.
Should you tell him? every thought raced through your head, yet all that came out was “No, im just feeling better maybe it was just a bug.” you say walking past him into your apartment, your tone worried him, Miguel headed in after you. He sighed putting down his bag so he could tend to you, “Okay, what’s going on with you? he said softly, you shrugged with your hands still in your pockets while looking down at the floor. “You know I care about you right, you can talk to me. I know I can be so….strong at times, but I care I really do.” it almost sounded like he was scolding you, his words were strong and you knew he meant what he said, they must’ve really pulled at your heartstrings because the next thing you know you were in tears.
Miguel was by your side as you sobbed, holding you close to his chest. “I just…don’t know whats wrong with me.” you said in between sobs, “There’s nothing wrong with you, tonto,” he slowly rocked you back and fourth until you calmed down. “Thank you,” you said wiping your eyes with your sleeve, you wouldn't know what you'd do if he weren't here. you both were on the couch now as he held you, “I’m always gonna be here for you, just like you’re always there for me, alright?” he said with a warm smile.
And he was, all the way until the end.

Boom Sonamy, Lyric comes back trying to achieve immortality. He needs an exhange of life for a life so a live sacrifice but can't read the rest of the inscription. So he kidnaps Amy again to read the rest of the message otherwise he'll destroy the village and plans to sacrifice her. The gang come to save her and stop Lyric. You can add more to make it more dramatic if you want with a better ending than I can think of ^_^'
I do tend to always just add more, don’t I? XD I’m sorry for those who I’ve taken your idea and ran with my own thoughts on it, but I hope it’s been satisfactory nonetheless! Working a lot lately, so when I do have time to do the Tumblr Prompt Series (also posted on all my writing sites for viewing pleasure!) I usually do something fun but small. I’ll give it my best, Precious Anon!
Also, Lyric is a very… how do I put this… There’s not a whole hecka lot of information on him. I did some research to look back over the games he was in, and even then, it was pretty generic and bland, sorry Lyric fans!
However, sometimes, that’s actually good news. You know why? Shocking, I know! But it means the character is wide open for interpretation and expanding upon them. I won’t be doing that for this fic, necessarily, but I think characters with great potential are usually those that have little information but just enough to peak interest. It’s one of the reasons I felt Amy Rose was a character I could put more lore and backstory on, because although I did study her character, there wasn’t a whole lot on her. It made her a canvas that felt ‘half-full’, able to be influenced and expanded upon.
However, in recent times, Amy Rose and many other characters like her in different franchises (Not necessarily in personality or role, but just the same level of character-depth and lore, I guess?) have really been given love and more games are coming out with better writing quality than ever before! I’m so glad that so many ‘side characters’ are treated as main cast mates, and not just thrown into trope roles anymore.
That being said, you can’t escape the occasional ‘One-time’ appearances like Lyric being a ‘Pops up in maybe Two Games and never again’ villain. But it does leave room for us Fanfiction writers to make some interesting depth to further their small legacy! <3
That being said–TUMBLR PROMPT REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, SHUT DOWN ON INBOX, lolol you were waiting for that, weren’t ya? >:3c
Hugs and blowing kisses, everyone. I’m definitely taking more time to heal from burnout and also work on Fanfiction Edits (Which are coming along nicely, I’m now back to Instincts, for those who are a fan of that one.), Original Stories (Sorry, probably won’t post them tho :( But books are important! lol), and of course, Tumblr Prompt Series so yall know I’m not dead xD
The tumblr inbox for prompt requests will remain down probably for a few more years. I know that upsets a lot of you, but if they ever do open again, I will be blocking ‘Anon’ because I think some people are posting more than the actual limit of how many they can submit. Due to this, I’m overwhelmed with hundreds (not joking, by the way.) of requests that I really don’t want to do? So we’ll be taking time to go back to stories I’ve wanted to write and solo-writing for my fanfictions/other works. I’ve gotta set up stronger boundaries! Haha XD
That being said, please enjoy this Sonic Boom (Feels ancient now) Prompt!
Tumblr media
Prompt:
“Ultimate power… Although sounding like sweet nectar to one’s ambitious desires, tends to lead to a faulty conclusion…” A snaky whiplash from his claw-tail sent a impulse reflex through Amy’s spine, causing her to flinch and her ears to withdraw back again.
She was so mad, tied up to a pillar inside an ancient tomb, having been ambushed while excavating what looked like a madman’s attempt at immortal life.
Roughly translated, a doctor related to Eggman, known as Ivo Robotnik had first discovered this tomb and kept it a secret. He researched and found a successful way to immortalize someone… but he failed to interpret the last section of the stone slab’s text…
A life for a life… to give Shadow The Hedgehog, his ultimate creation, immortality–to live and breathe forever in the purpose of curing the world of its vital mistakes and sins–he accidentally let his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik, die in the process…
As she read the inscription, Ivo’s account tells that her life was being drained from her… and eventually, was converted in some miraculous way into what was necessary to mechanically engineer this ancient tomb’s purpose: Infinitely Sustained Life.
Shadow, overwhelmed by the loss of his friend, turned on Ivo Robotnik, and sealed the tomb to never let the tragedy that had befallen here happen again… until now.
‘Opps.’ Amy thought to herself, annoyed by Lyric carrying on with his wicked monologue about being the last of the ancients, having envied and coveted this technology, but had lost before he could even begin to understand it. ‘I’ve been following the late Ivo Robotnik’s work in hopes of finding the ancient world… I didn’t think I’d stumble upon this buttless snake again…’ She sighed quietly, blinking her eyes as though counting subconsciously the seconds before she was to be daringly rescued by her friends.
Again…
‘Why was it always me?’ She grumbled in her thoughts before the second whipping crack of his tail colliding with the ground near her snapped her out of her thoughts again.
“You remain awfully quiet… that’s offssssseting.” He hissed to her side, which made her lean as far right as she could muster, trying to get away from his anciently stanky breath.
“Upsetting,” She appeared to be clarifying, “That I have to have my peaceful afternoon so rudely interrupted by the echoes of a delusional reptilian, but I mean, at least I’m complaining internally.” She smirked up to him, showing she wasn’t trying to help him, she was just making a snarky comeback.
He shook his head, his lips swerving in their rage as he lifted himself up, completely over her cocky and irritating behavior.
“You will read the slab for me!” He smashed down his robotic arm by her, and she had to turn her head away from the dust and flying debris of shattered rock taking off from the impact.
“Like I’d die for you!” She badmouthed back, “Sonic and my friends will be here any minute. Seems you’ve become very fond of our combined butt-whooping, Lyric! I can’t fathom any other reason you’d keep wishing it upon you, unless it truly makes you feel like you even have a butt to whoop.”
“Silence!” He roared up, having the whole of the tomb shake from his vibrating, strong sound before Amy just scoffed.
“Finally, we see snake-eye to hedgehog-eye now.” She leaned back on the pillar she was tied to, taking a nice breath out. “Ah~ Now, to await the inevitable victory-WUOO!” She was yoinked practically up, snapping her restraints around her wasit but her arms still behind her back.
Lyric had taken hold of her head, as she kicked the air and tried to hit him while he held her uncomfortably high.
She could probably be alright, but she couldn’t use her Enerbeam… Nor her Piko-Piko Hammer while her arms were still tied-up, although her legs free.
She could feel the squeezing of his robotic claws digging into her cranium, and for the first time that day, she actually showed the tire and wear of having struggled against him for so long.
Not only did she dig her way carefully as she could in here, trying to preserve the ancient relics to study them later, but she had to fight Lyric, and now…
“If you will not comply…” He pulled her face towards his own, using his tail to grab her legs and keep them tightly clamped together, making sure her struggle just became ten-times harder…
Her eyes were twitching under the pressurized hold the claws had on her head… Looking up as she couldn’t help but show the strain.
“Then you’ll remember an old friend, I’m sure…” He attached a new mind-controller on her, as he let her go and she fell to all fours,... then looked up to show she was fully under his power.
“Perfect~” He chimed, laughing manically, “Now, read it to me!” He slashed his tail against the wall, turning for her to get up and walk towards the slab.
She knelt and held out her two hands to it, reading the rock…
“At last! My robotic empire! To erase the weak and insipid existence of all living organisms…” He slithered and opened his arms to the murals around the tomb. “To eternally strive for perfect power… the influence of which only the vast superiority of machines can dictate! Eggman was a fool to try and rival me… You and your friends were mere insects to my reign! Biting and taunting me, getting in my way to distract me from the ultimate purpose of my recreation!” He twisted the wrist joint of his robotic arm and held up his claw-like hand, admiring it. “Soon, even I shall become fully mechanized! With immortality, I can improve my own being once more! No longer half-complete, a mutated cyborg with still my fleshy prison! But… I shall shed this weakling flesh to become truly–the immortal mechanized god of this new world!” He struck an all-powerful and imposing pose, but an explosion of rocks and rumbling of the tomb’s unstabilized structure shook him out of his gloating aside to himself once more.
“Wh-what? OFFPH!” A red, shiny shoe smushed with great force against his face, crushing it as Sonic sped into the fight, and Shadow rushed to Amy’s side.
“Snap out of it!” He could tell by her faint breathing that she was already losing her life force, the stream of which was moving through the air into the large center dome-like structure above the tomb.
“No… not again..!” Shadow cried out, seeing as Lyric was able to actually combat Sonic, who had tried to pin him down but was flung off of him.
Lyric laughed again with the added strength of immortality slowly being converted into him by the strange process of the powerful stream of light waving through the air, coming out of the ball, to then attach to him like a leash.
“Soon, Sonic, all your friends will contribute to is merely delaying the eventual takeover of this planet..!” Lyric, slithering towards Sonic as he kept backing up, felt his body powering up. “Every muscle in you will eventually wither and die… while mine shall stay immaculate… and whether you continue to prevent me from my destined course of fate or not, sooner or later… You will die.” He lunged into Sonic’s face, who looked horrified at what he was saying. “While I’ll still yet have endless time left in me… to conquer, maim, and entirely transform this pathetic mossy rock into yet another perfect rendition of what I shall become… Immortality pristine, everlasting, and most importantly…” He rose himself up into the air, his tail whipping around underneath him. “A robotic masterpiece..!”
“Amy..!!!” Shadow gripped at her mindcontrolling device on her head, but it was wedged on tightly this time, “Darn it, woman!” He looked to the slab, she was almost done..!
He closed his eyes, realizing what he must do.
“Forgive me… Maria.” He covered Amy’s mouth so she couldn’t speak. “I will have to belay my promise to you… and save this pathetic excuse for a world… if only to bring your perfect idealisms to light… perhaps… another day.”
He lowered his head and read the last of the inscription, which took his immortality and-
The beam redirected.
“WHAT?!” Lyric landed back on the ground, looking at his robotic arms before turning to finally notice Shadow as he held Amy, giving her back her life force…
“NOOO!!!” Lyric began to move quickly towards him, but Sonic thomped him yet again to the ground.
He folded his arms, standing triumphantly over him, “Looks like your brilliant plan at eternal robotization backfired yet again, Lyric! Now, you’re just softly singing the poetic justice of what happens to those who try and metallically make their own butts to be kicked!” He kicked Lyric as he moved forward with a humorous cry of pain from it.
“Shadow?” Sonic then raced to his side, looking at Amy in his arms and having her transferred to his own.
Shadow… slowly shook his head.
Sonic, worried now, looked down at Amy. “Amy?”
She didn’t move… the light breeze from their entrance now sending the wind to move her three bangs.
“... Amy?” There was a long… hard pause…
The air was still, even Lyric pushed up off the ground, holding his push-up position, and looked to see with a swishing tail if immortality could still be his afterall.
Then… her eyes blinked…
“Miss Rose?” The little blonde human girl was bending down to speak to her, as she got up, rubbing her head.
“Wha-... H-huh?” She looked around what seemed like a white space. “Am I… dead?” She looked at the girl, gasping, “Maria Robotnik!?”
The little girl shyly giggled, gently covering her mouth, “Oh, I’m sorry for laughing, this isn’t the time nor place for that.” She then curtsied and offered her her hand, “You’re not dead. I’m giving you my life’s essence… the same essence… that was used to give Shadow his immortal life.”
“W-What?!” Amy scooted away, kicking her feet out from the girl’s hand. “That’s ludicrous! I don’t want eternal life!” She exclaimed, “I… I want to grow old with my friends, and have countless adventures… a family and eventually… make global peace and end world hunger.” She looked down, “Set up an all-women government and prove that we can organize a better democracy and-”
Maria just giggled again, “Many. Big. Dreams.” She gave each word a single note and pause, not necessarily for dramatic flavor or effect, but to show how much they meant to her.
“Many times have I wished for a better world. Bigger and bigger have my heartfelt prayers become. Dreams of an absolution… from misery and fire, to passion and compassion reigning evermore on the earth.” She gently offered her hand to Amy again.
“If you can’t accept an immortal life… then accept entirely your own life. All it’s happenings. Even the mistakes…”
Amy looked at her hand… realizing that without Maria, she would likely never be able to return to life at all…
“Is this… really the only way?” Amy held up her hand, but hesitated, looking sweetly at the girl. “I’m sure… W-We could ask Tails… We could find a way to bring you back!” She formed a fist, “We can reverse what this place has done to you!”
Maria just smiled like the angel she was. “... This is the only way…” She quietly stated, “Come, be at peace. Your friends are waiting for you.”
Amy dropped her head, her hand loosening from a determined fist to an open hand again, and looked at it. “... Dying sure does suck… doesn’t it?” She looked with teary eyes up to the kind, optimistic girl. Her heart wanted to help her, but she was sacrificing herself–yet again–for the greater good.
“Thank you… Maria.” She took her hand… as a white light engulfed them.
“No, Amy Rose. Thank you… for never giving up on the world we live in. In it’s present, so many seek to extend their lives, in fear that they will live to short or not greatly enough. The real life we should long for, is the one we’re currently on right now. With so much possibility, with so many endless adventures to take… When one begins to stop fearing the future, then can we really live and create it at last… the way-...”
“We want to.” Amy finished, as Maria’s voice faded and she opened her actual eyes.
Sonic and Shadow were over her… Shadow having lost his Immortality, but Amy not gaining it.
Instead, Amy had died and Maria used her life force to give it back to her.
Both mortal now, Amy looked from Sonic to Shadow, and held up a hand to grace his cheek, “She’s lovely.” She smiled kindly to him. “Maria was such a beautiful young girl.”
Shadow couldn’t hold it back, and cried.
He ducked his head as her hand came gently off and moved to Sonic’s chest, patting it lightly, “Boy, does that heart never cease to slow down?” She teased, as Sonic sighed in relief.
“Happy to have you back… Ames.” He gave her a fond expression, and she leaned her head into his embracing arms, resting in that soft gaze of sweetness he gave her.
“ARRGGGAHHH!!” Lyric arched his back, crying out in further outrage. “HOW!? You fools! I will return, I will bring a bigger robotic army, I’ll have you ruing the day you-!”
There’s was a large ‘KONK!’ sound as mechanical birds flew around his head while he circled a little in the air and then fell forward, revealing Tails with a large wrench held like a thrown baseball bat, Knuckles with his fists positioned as though they had just hit something as well, and Sticks with her boomerang and one hand on the ground to show she had just caught it.
“Man, to think. We’ve stumbled upon a literal ANCIENT secret governmental conspiracy! Whoo! Glad I’m only living in a time where we have to deal with our modern governmental conspiracies!” She spouted out, looking relieved for some odd reason.
“Oh, hey Bestie!” She waved enthusiastically to Amy, who lightly waved back at her, giggling as she came over.
Completely unaware…
Of what just happened here moments before.
“What were you up to?” She asked, innocently.
Shadow covered his face from the view of the others, as Sonic looked to him and then to Amy, and helped her to lean up more so she could be sitting comfortably as she twisted her torso to address the others, and mostly answer Sticks’s question.
“Changing fate.” She replied, smiling from ear to ear. “And hopefully…”
“Making all of ours a good one.”

mermy i saw your twitter rexeet ((๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)) about clicking an a03 fic then reading all the authors other works and now every fic is the best fic youve ever read and thats how i feel about u! and i wonder if you could name a writer who made you feel that way?
also! i just wanted to say to SOMEONE (nobody i know irl would really care/not cringe) that im writing a research paper on fandom! im in the process of narrowing down an exact question, but i know that fandom has been a part of my life for so long and its such a large part of who i am. i think a focus would be how expressing that is so difficult when being in these communities and even just engaging with beloved media can save someone!! and that sounds like as ass idea so far but trust!!
i love fandoms! i love fanfiction! i love being interested in anime and in the characters, and i love that people have taken it upon themselves to expand on stories and characters and put pieces of themselves out there online that they dont share irl. gifted writers (such as urself!) are online taking so much time and creating such beautiful work and i just BLAKDIFKWLA
i just felt like saying that! oh and hi ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
i was thinking of @andypantsx3 when i retweeted that!!! i’ve told this story before, but like, the day i first found one of her fics (cover shot) i was meant to be deep cleaning the house, lmao. instead i sat on my completely stripped bed and then read through every fic she had at the time. i couldn’t even stop for dinner!! i got takeaway (fish and chips) and sat there in the car reading ab intra and like, there was a moment where, in the fic, Reader’s confronted with the fall out of the actual Bad Guy and I remember being like oh shit, and just sort of blinking myself out of the story and staring out the car window and thinking this is the best day of my life and i love this. LOL.
and you know, it happens a lot—the magic of fanfic, i guess, lmao—but it’s such an… acute sense of satisfaction, lmao. like, finding something you really love and enjoy, and then realising that there’s more of it. i do think it’s very distinct to fanfic—because it’s the same characters! the same series! the same canon! like, the delight i felt when i read andie’s war paint, and then realised that it was actually like, a sequel (kinda)—unmatched. 🥹
but jupe!!! a research paper?????? that’s so neat LOL, that’s so much work!!! it’s NOT an ass idea!!! 😭 i think it sounds amazing. people (on the outside) really do underestimate how… fandom can like, fill in that really primal need we seem to have as humans for stories. it’s like the digital equivalent of sitting around a fire, right? listening to someone tell a tale. sometimes it’s someone just passing through with something new, and sometimes you’re there every night for a week to listen to someone in the pack piece together some big epic. 🥹 i like how much love there is in it, in wanting to be entertained and entertaining. truly we are all just here for the love of the game lmaooo.
jupe jupe jupe once you’ve settled on your question and done all your hard work on your paper, will you come back and let us know how you went? 🥺 we can celebrate when you’re done!!! 🥹 i’ll draw little confettis for the post lmao.

What's your sticky spot for the old Hollywood fic? It's so interesting to me where things get stuck.
Thanks for the ask! And also for the incomparable @booksandabeer, who asked after this as well 😘
I can’t let this Stucky Old Hollywood idea go—the aesthetic alone!
Tumblr media
I’m not an AU writer so the only way I could do this concept is as canon divergence where the Barnes family moves to Los Angeles rather than Brooklyn when Bucky is a kid—and Bucky becomes a child star. So Steve and Bucky don't meet.
I’ve been slowly working out the concept and completing the foundational research, but lately I’ve fallen into a really meta place around the question: would Bucky still have been drafted?
Tumblr media
The quick version of the historical context is that, unlike later drafts and most iconically the Vietnam draft, WWII-era conscription was conducted by local boards that assigned each registered man a lottery serial number (not the same as an army serial number) after all the completed registration cards were shuffled.[1] Bucky would have registered in October 1940 under the Selective Training and Service Act[2] and could have been called up in any of the three drafts: 29 October 1940, 17 July 1941, 17 March 1942.[3] If Bucky was in a different part of the country—and in consequence subject to a different local board’s instance of this random number assignment process—odds are he would have been assigned a different random lottery serial number, which means he could have been selected in an earlier draft, the same draft or not at all. And there’s no logic for how he would have ended up with the 107th.
And here’s where it gets meta. Because narratively Bucky is drafted to be a foil for Steve, who can’t join the military despite desperately wanting to. And Bucky becomes a POW to motivate Steve into the action that transforms him from a performer to a combatant, thereby achieving Steve’s—and the narrative’s—vision of idealized masculinity. And Bucky falls off the train to push Steve into more radical action against Hydra, which culminates with him putting the plane into the water. Bucky isn’t doomed by the narrative. He’s doomed by Steve’s narrative. In the original work, the pre-TFATWS MCU, Bucky’s suffering only has narrative meaning because of its effect on Steve. And you can argue that things only occur in a story if they have narrative meaning.
Without having to be a plot device and motivator for Steve, Bucky is theoretically relieved of the narrative requirement of being a POW. He wouldn’t have to fall off that train.
But, at heart, fanfiction is a rejection of this model of narrative meaning. As soon as you create a Bucky-centric reading or write a Bucky-centric version of canon, then his suffering has the potential for intrinsic narrative meaning. And Bucky’s story of victimization and heroic resilience speaks deeply to a lot of people, myself included. Bucky lacks the protagonist’s halo of always beating the odds, of the doors always closing just after safely jumping through, of being able to close that gap and grab the hand reaching out for him, and of being looked for by friendlies and discovered as still alive in the cold. Of course, if Bucky was a protagonist, the serum would have kicked in faster; he would have broken his own restraints; he would have rescued himself and the remnants of the 107th.
But that’s not Bucky’s narrative function.
Bucky is so fascinating to me because his story doesn’t follow the pattern of male-hero-protagonist. He has a sympathetic villain’s narrative arc but then refuses to become a villain. So, in this revisionist analysis, Bucky is doomed and saved by his own narrative. And this is why I’m leaning toward Bucky still being drafted, even if his experience of the war plays out differently, but not making him a POW so long as the part of Bucky’s story that's about being controlled and dehumanized by larger forces can be transferred to a different part of the narrative.
I’ll sign off with this piece of inspiration about Mickey Rooney, an iconic child star of the era:
Mayer naturally tried to keep all his child actors in line, like any father figure. After one such episode, Mickey Rooney replied, "I won't do it. You're asking the impossible." Mayer then grabbed young Rooney by his lapels and said, "Listen to me! I don't care what you do in private. Just don't do it in public. In public, behave. Your fans expect it. You're Andy Hardy! You're the United States! You're the Stars and Stripes. Behave yourself! You're a symbol!”[4]

Answer the questions and tag 5 Fanfic Authors
Tagged by @mosylufanfic :)
1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I’m relatively unusual here, I think, in that whilst I’ve been writing it since my teens I have had a good twenty year break up until a few months ago. Years ago, I just started writing it for my own pleasure - certainly no internet or easy ways to share it back then. More recently, I can attribute my return to one thing and one thing only: my love of the series Andor. An obsession that came out of nowhere in September 2023 when I watched it for the first time and it resonated with me in a way nothing has come close to in quite some time. After several months of writing various analyses of it I felt the urge to get creative.
2. How many fandoms have you written in?
Not many - most recently, Andor - obviously - and with the obvious overlap of Rogue One. Going back: I started out on E.T. (early teens then so that will date me accordingly :) ) - moving on to Aliens, The Silence of the Lambs and The X Files. Some novels then too: Narnia and Clive Barker, notably.
3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
As above, really. I’m in my mid 50s now - which I imagine makes me one of the older ones here. I dabbled most recently in the late 90s, with The Phantom Menace slashfics that were hugely popular back then - one of my friends was a superb writer (her stories were considerably better than the film itself ) and absolutely churned them out on whatever forums were around. They were a wholly new thing to me and I hadn’t even seen the film, but I dabbled a bit anyway :)
4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?
I write more at the moment, but I’m gradually trying to catch up with the reading. I missed Andor when it was first released and therefore the glut of fics from that time. But I’m getting to know the writers I really like and rediscover my own interests, genre speaking, along the way.
5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?
It’s really hard to compare as I haven’t got much left hanging around from my earlier years, but I would say that with several decades of teaching Lit under my belt now I do care a lot more about characterisation than I ever used to. It used to be all about the plot. I’m finding myself very drawn to subtext-heavy dialogue, internal monologues, drabbles and even poetry - the last being something I never thought I’d touch with a barge pole. I’m not saying I’m any good, just that I enjoy the challenge. That’s the main thing, in fact. These days I’m happy to embrace a challenge rather than shy from it.
6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
That would be what human flesh tastes like. For a Silence of the Lambs fic, obviously. The answer is apparently “pork crossed with beef” so I guess a genuine ragu lasagne would scratch that particular itch if anyone’s curious.
7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?
At the moment, as I’m pretty much starting from scratch and trying to find readers, absolutely anything. Probably excluding ‘don’t give up the day job’.
8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
Probably the cannibalism thing. Though that’s no doubt more mainstream nowadays…. I haven’t even looked at all the Hannibal (tv series) fics out there.
9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
Anything long - the longest thing I ever completed was a 250 page novel but I was 14 at the time and haven’t come close since. Haven’t the stamina these days. Same with reading – I prefer one shots.
10. What is the easiest type?
Missing scenes or scene commentaries - not so much easy as such but probably my favourite forms, so they come relatively easily once I really put my mind to them. I find analytical essays the easiest of all, if I know the text well, but that’s no doubt a teacher-thing. I’ve made myself a regular feature on the Reddit Andor sub, probably to the chagrin of some :)
11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
Looking at other answers to this one, I’m a bit perplexed. I have an elderly iMac and write on that. Hell, I used to do everything in long hand. Thank God I learned to touch-type. I guess I use Googledocs when forced to use my laptop. I’m fortunate to be semi-retired, so I generally find the time.
12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
Something longer, I guess. Hard to tell. I was and am intimidated by Smutfics, but had a go at a challenge recently and was quite pleased with the result. Not something I’ll be writing often though - not the main event, anyway. Love the buildups, and there’s some really great erotica out there, but I do get pretty stuck using the same vocabulary if I’m not careful. I’ve done a few humorous variations and quite liked those too. I’m British, lived in Bath for many years so like to imagine Austen’s ironic take on sex scenes quite a bit.
13. What made you choose your username?
Nothing very deep - it’s to do with where I live. I’m a keen birder and Colley is an old West Country (England) word for a blackbird.
Apologies in advance for tagging you - I’m sure some or all of you have been ‘done’ already! I don’t know a huge range of writers yet and I’m new to Tumblr and Discord. Absolute social media dinosaur as I am.

6, 12, 19, 23, 25! 🪶🖋
You spoil me, my friend! 🪶
6. The word that appears the most in your current draft
-> The next chapter of These voices won’t leave me alone (editing in progress): Adrien (8 mentions)
Nothing out of the ordinary in a Miraculous fic, but this one makes me sad. For reasons.
-> You wouldn’t download a Sentimonster (drafting in progress): also Adrien (29 mentions)! Which is much less angsty in this story. Second places goes to ‘about’ (17).
12. A trope you’re really into right now
Unreliable narrator! It’s weird I haven’t used it more in my writing, considering the type of characters I love to write for… I’ve been having a lot of fun with it in Glitter and Gold specifically. Hehe. ❤️💜
19. The most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic
Oooh, good question. My Layton fics tend to be research-heavier in general, but I’ll spend most of my reading time on experiences I’m not necessarily familiar with. For instance, Adrien’s condition in the Black Cat Felix AU was inspired my multiple sclerosis.
23. Pick three keywords that describe your writing.
Poetic, I would hope! I try to emulate the writing styles that have charmed me most over the years, namely Victor Hugo’s, Edmond Rostand’s, Charles Baudelaire’s, Oscar Wilde’s, Carlos Ruiz Zafón’s and Amélie Nothomb’s.
Uplifting too, if I do my job correctly. When I say I write for myself, I mean I write for Present Nina but also for 12-13-14-15-16-year-old Nina, who needed a refuge and found it in fiction. In a way, writing fanfiction now feels a little like giving back to the stories that made me, even when I’m working for a different fandom.
And tender! ❤️💜💚 We let ourselves be emotionally and physically vulnerable in this house sir. (<- Hates being touched)
25. Besides writing, what are your other hobbies?
Obsessing about Cyrano and Le Bret
I read a lot, as you know! I lost the habit for a while and I’m so happy I was able to pick it back up. I also like drawing the little guys. Look how cute they look!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last but not least, I adore mythology (as you also know) and I had my paleonthology, egyptology and criminology phases growing up!

If it were up to you ( one of the best hellcheer fanfiction writer) what would you fix or change about the fight of Icarus?
Aw shux, that’s high praise! I really don’t think I’m worthy of that, but thank you 🤍
Oh God… what a laundry list 😆 read at your own risk below (I think I’ve finally run out of things to say about this book and will be moving on now 😅)
I’m going to be honest, the best way fo fix it would be to not write a book. Point blank. If I was involved with the show at all I would have NEVER written a book about Eddie in any official capacity. I don’t know if the author was aware of just how unhinged certain parts of his fanbase are (I’m sure she is now) but you’re not going to make anyone happy with this. Eddie’s ridiculously popular yes, I get it, but part of his appeal for people was how untouched his background was.
Flight of Icarus is kind of a mess plot wise with pretty weak/poor characterizations. There’s some good elements and scenes in it. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. It’s pretty mid. I mean books based on tv shows aren’t exactly known for their… luster. It’s obviously going to lack the passion of an unpaid fanfic writer who has spent endless hours watching season 4 and doing in-depth research and analysis for their work… but that’s what we’re all used to. That’s our standard. So it’s kind of already set up for failure.
But, if I was in charge of a book like this, here’s some of the things I would do differently:
I’d have picked ONE main plot to focus on because there is way too much going on in these 280 pages for me to have the time to be invested or care about anything. There’s like three plus storylines going on with Eddie all to push ONE narrative which is basically him choosing between risking everything for a fantasy/dream of fame and money or staying true to himself and what’s real which is the steadfast loyalty of his friends and family. This takes the form of Al vs Wayne, Paige vs Ronnie, LA vs Hawkins, solo career vs band/hellfire, dropping out to try to become a rockstar vs being the first Munson to graduate, who Eddie wants to be vs who he truly is deep down.
It’s just too much.
I’d have taken a little more time making Eddie three dimensional. I know he’s a side character, but a lot of heart and thought went into creating him (at least on Joe’s end). I’d have made more conscious choices for his character, especially if he’s narrating in first person (I would have not used first person). His outer dialog is great (the dialog throughout the whole thing is actually really great, you can tell the author’s a screen writer and it’s one of the stronger elements to the book) but his inner monologue is pretty ooc and at times really off. He lacks a lot of the things that drew people to him in the first place or it’s just not as strongly presented I guess. He doesn’t feel fully formed.
If I was going to give Eddie a love interest (I don’t know why you would do that to yourself at this point, his fanbase is volatile at best and either ships him with Steve, Chrissy, or themselves, no one is going to like it) I’d have given her WAY better writing than an immersive wattpad character with little to no character traits outside of her aesthetic and interests which is an alternative style and liking music. Wow. Groundbreaking. I would have her make decisions based on a fully formed personality verses the convenience of the plot. And if not, if she’s going to be a means to an end, I’d at least go all in and make her wild or evil or a total bitch or conniving or funny or grumpy or goofy or something. She’s not given enough focus or time to be well rounded so I’d just have fun and go batshit crazy with her (don’t worry Paige, you’re mine now and I will give you an actual character and vindication).
Eddie choosing between his dad and Wayne would have probably been the plot I picked to focus on and I would have really dived into that. The good, bad and the ugly of the Munson family. Because Al (that would not be his name btw 🤢) and Wayne reflect the two sides of Eddie’s character. A charming, self serving, cowardly asshole and a good, strong and kind person who protects and looks after others. I like Ronnie a lot and she’s probably the best written character in the book, but Wayne needed to have more spotlight for this.
I’d have definitely made the plot a lot less fantastical and way more of a simple character study. Just Eddie deciding between embracing the infamy of the Munson family or choosing to rise above it. Does he decide to scheme and cheat like his dad to get more out of life or does he do the right thing and stay the course to actually graduate and make something of himself. That’s it. All that’s needed. Eddie getting a shot at being a rockstar at eighteen in Hawkins is already kind of odd, especially when his in is a twenty year old “junior scout”??? Who just happens to be at his dive bar and have the hots for him and fucks him and pretty much offers him a life in LA on a silver platter with no issues other than having to bail on his band and high school club?? It’s… a bit much for our unlucky loser boy we see in the show. Book Eddie is as lucky as they come, but he’s a total dumbass and decides to trust and scheme with his deadbeat father??? Who has always failed him? Why? I get he needs money but his kinda girlfriend’s got a job and he’s pretty much got a record deal. What even is this? That whole storyline would be scrapped to hell. But hey, at least it’s more believable than an actual drug heist and a kingpin and a shoot out. Oh and arson. It’s giving… *shivers* Riverdale and not in a good way.
Lastly, I’d have taken the opportunity to develop characters from the show a little more. Not a ton, but like the author did with Higgins. I really like how he was written in the novel. He had a lot of fire and personality out of nowhere which was kind of hilarious. I probably would have expanded Jason the most actually, I’d have added more to that tense rivalry. And I’d have left Chrissy pretty much out of it. The talent show is best left to the imagination and we already have a delicate narrative between them because of the forest scene. I wouldn’t want to add too much there. But she’d have a cameo for sure. Like brief eye contact or a shared smile or something at the very end of the book. Just a little glimmer of what’s to come. I’m also a Eddie has always had a little bit of a thing for Chrissy truther, so in my bias I might have him quietly admire her from afar or something.
And there you go.
I mean you’re going to get my version of his backstory eventually anyway and bonus he and Chrissy live, get married and have kids. Yay!

Hi! I hope I’m not bothering you in any way, but I noticed that you have been feeling discouraged lately and wanted to give you some encouragement.
I discovered your work recently and have liked what I’ve read so far! I recently read your work "The Crown" and really enjoyed it! The dialogue flowed well and felt natural overall, especially Thranduil’s considering he’s a canon character that a writer like yourself would have to research before writing. I also really liked your oc! She was strong but gentle, and it was interesting to see little bits and pieces of her backstory as I read this work. The descriptive elements of the fanfic were wonderful to read as well. I really appreciated the attention to detail that you put into this fanfiction alone. It really goes to show how much you care about your writing!
Overall, I felt positively impacted by this piece of writing: it gave me a pleasant escape and allowed me to get introduced to your oc in a creative way that made me want to read more. I know it can be difficult to deal with underappreciation (as a fellow writer, I understand that completely), but I hope that you can see that there are people who do appreciate what you’re putting out there, myself included.
I hope that this message brings you some sort of positive feeling, but if not, that’s okay too! I’m just happy to gush about a fan work that made me smile. Have a blessed day,
-Finn
Hi Finn!
You are an amazingly kind person to reach out to me with this message, when you have just recently followed and read my work. I consider myself blessed to be Mutuals with you. :)
"The Crown" is the first Thranduil-centered fic I ever wrote, and was my first foray into writing about the epic love story (epic inside my head anyway, lol) between him and my OC Elvenqueen. Their story means a lot to me, and I am so glad to hear that "The Crown" resonated with you.
I struggle a lot with insecurity and hesitation to continue writing fics for my Thranduil x Maereth pairing (I worry way too much about how well it will be received). Getting encouragement from readers like you keeps hope alive that I might eventually put out the many ideas I have onto paper.
I look forward to reading some of YOUR work--and maybe even putting in a request! ;) God bless you!

Answer the Questions and Tag 5 Fanfic Authors
tagged by @menina89, thank you. Doing this required more introspection than I initially thought, but it was a lot of fun 💕
1 . How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I had my first encounter with fanfiction when I was around 12 or 13 and discovered the (no-longer online) site myfanfiction.de. Back then I was really into twilight and so I created an account and started writing (in German). My first story was like 200 - 400 words per chapter and I think I gave up after 5 - 6 chapters. I posted a few more one-shots but honestly, the site was terrible and overly moderated. Two of my stories got banned for apparently being wrongly rated G and that was pretty frustrating. I wrote a few more stories for myself, but during most of high school and university years I only wrote assignments and papers. I stopped reading fanfiction altogether too for a while and only came back to it when discovering fanfiction.net and then ao3. There were so many stories and so much more engagement on those English sites, which was amazing. I did think about writing a few times but I was intimidated by the thought of doing so in English, which is not my mother tongue, so for years I was simply lurking in the shadows.
Then came 2022, which was a very rough year for me and induced a lot of anxiety, so in autumn after a spontaneous idea for a fic, I just started writing again to cope with some of those feelings. I posted the first chapter for the hell of it, but the Rogue One fandom was so nice and encouraging, that I just kept writing.
The idea for my first story in the Lockwood & Co. fandom was born because I was looking for a specific story I. When I could not find it, I simply wrote it myself.
2. How many fandoms have you written in?
Four fandoms I published something in. Probably one or two more, writing just for myself.
3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
The first fic on my ao3 account was posted October 2022.
In my teenage years maybe another 4 years ?
4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?
Definitely read.
5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?
Writing multi-chapters. I used to lose interest in them pretty quickly. But I’ve actually finished 2 in the last one-and-a-half years, which I am actually kind of proud of.
Other than that, I like to think that my English has gotten better (I hope) and I am less critical of myself, actually enjoying reading my own stories once in a while.
6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I once went down a rabbit hole researching the Jacobite uprising and the Glencoe massacre, including watching a 1,5 h documentary (for a 1000 word case fic). That was probably the most niche topic.
Other than that, I often research medical conditions, to not get them completely wrong. I did a lot of research on pregnancy and childbirth, including making a detailed calendar on gestational age and events that should take place. I generally like to make timetables for longer fics, to get the seasons and months right and to not give a month too many days. 😉
7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?
I love each and every comment. I maybe tend to reread comments more often of people pointing out things they liked, their favourite part, or swooning over characters. Also, when someone catches a hidden meaning or reference to another chapter, that is really amazing. But honestly, every comment makes my day and puts a huge smile on my face. 🥰
8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
Probably struggles with fertility. Other than that I think I’m pretty mainstream.
Though, I wrote a Christmas market one-shot set in the city I live in once, which could be considered niche because of the non anglo-american or British setting.
9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
It takes me a long time to write descriptions. Often there is a scene in my head that I want to bring to paper (or computer screen). But then I realize that I lack the vocabulary to formulate the sentences as flowery and beautifully as I’d like. So, I end up googling words for hours.
10. What is the easiest type?
Fluff. I love writing tender scenes between characters.
But also Angst, I think. Probably because I am a very anxious person.
11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
On my computer. I write in MS word. Then I copy the whole text into google docs, and do the editing there.
Most ideas come to me while commuting, going for a walk, or showering. So, I either take quick notes on my phone or actually sit down and type it into my laptop, if I have time. Mostly, I end up writing in the evening, but I am actually more productive in the morning (again if there is time)
12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
Smut.
13. What made you choose your username?
I chose it, because I am a microbiologist at heart. It could be argued that Saccharomyces cerevisiae, also known as bakers’ yeast, is one of humanity's oldest production animals. It is also one of the first microorganisms I was able to observe under a microscope and I think the cells look adorable. Apparently, someone else thought so too, because the username was already taken. That’s why I chose Saccharomyces_97
Tagging: @alphacrone @woahpip @oceanspray5 @cate-deriana and @the-biscuit-agreement (I'm terribly late and don't know who has done this before. So sorry, in case of double tag 😉 )

OC Tag Game!
Ooo thanks for tagging me @kittynomsdeplume & @cleverblackcat!! This took a while to get to but it was very fun!
Favorite OC: Evil question to start. I can't possibly choose unless I set some limits for myself so I'm going to cheat and say my most popular OC. I have the most art of her by no fault of my own. Velaneth Surana is my canon HoF and Warden Commander. Vela is a very open person: never lies, has no body shame, and loves to learn about other people and where they’ve come from. She walks into every hostile situation with her best foot forward trying to make friends and allies.
Newest OC: I’m slowly congealing my ideas about Orlagh Trevelyan because I’ve been imagining what the different cultures of the Freemarches look like - especially on the coast where trade is frequent. She’s from Ostwick of course and trained as a Templar as a youth but spent summers at a monastery with her aunt in Wycome which I imagine a bit like Morocco. I’ve been staring at my Pinterest boards imagining her lonely days growing up and what it means for her to leave her walls behind and be thrust into this new organization with all these people and their differing ideals. I'm particularly interested in exploring her being a templar but having some latent magic that has been tied up in her templar abilities so long she didn't realize it was ever there.
Oldest OC: In DA my oldest OC is Topaz Brosca from my original run of origins. The one where my save got deleted right before the Landsmeet lol rip. I've recently revisited her and I'm falling in love with her again. She's a hot trans girl and stabby rogue and she falls in love with the surface world immediately. My oldest OC ever though... might be a self insert hobbit character I made for myself as a child before I knew what fandom or fanfiction was lol! I think her name was Charlie? my memory is BAD but I know that's a name I loved as a kid.
Meanest OC: Szadrine Aeducan is my final origin from DAO to get an OC and I'm slowly growing deeply obsessed. She’s involved in (literal) cutthroat Orzammar politics and ends up skipping the warden bit after the whole betrayal and exile thing. She simply deserts at Ostagar. I think she should end up kicking ass in Orlais because she would be so good at the Game.
Softest OC: Bearnard Cousland is a soft, sweet, bookish baby-gay who would rather bury himself in his research in a library than seek glory or fight battles or do politics. Bearn is the second son so he’s gotten away with avoiding some of that but of course he has to attend his lessons and participate in the tourneys. His scholarly work lends him some political savvy since he’s intimately familiar with Ferelden’s history, but he’s most interested in lost texts and translating ancient works. He never had good gay role models growing up and thinks of himself as homely and forgettable, so he never felt like that was an option for him, but Maker does he ever pine lol!
Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: Gotta be Irene Amell. She's a real bitch with resting murder face. Incredibly unapproachable, intimidating Domme energy. Tends to default dislike people and keep to herself, prefering to slink around and eavesdrop than talk to people for info. She’s very protective and loving toward her close friends and lovers, but it’s hard to get close in the first place.
Dumbest OC: Myrna Hawke is a smart woman, she's an accomplished mage, enjoys reading, quick witted, but she has zero self-awareness and has a very hard time even understanding how she feels, much less how other people feel about her. She’s absolutely clueless and fully blindsided by anyone’s interest & gets tongue tied and stupid when she’s horny. She’s also very impulsive and acts before she thinks things through which leads to getting into a lot of dumb shit.
Smartest OC: There are excellent contenders here: Bearn with his book smarts and Topaz with her street smarts, but I want to say Ithadhea Mahariel because even though they are incredibly dense when it comes to interpersonal relations, their wealth of traditional knowledge from their clan is incredible. They are not really a people person, usually quiet and solitary, but they took to hunting like they were born for it and eagerly learned everything in the realm of woodcraft and survival. They know all their clan's stories by heart and and know resources by seasons in a way that is part of their internal clock. I think this kind of generational knowledge probably outstrips the scope of any of my other OC's knowledge.
OC I’d Be Friends With: Edric Cadash is so laid back and friendly I think he’d be one of the easiest to make friends with. I want to have tea and gossip with him and have that turn into late night drinking and telling stories by the fire. Vela would be an instant friend as well; she wants to befriend everyone and she'd have an easy time with me!
no pressure tagging some of my DA OC enjoying friends: @sinquisition, @highwayphantoms, @lets-get-brave, @sandalinbohemia, @dismalzelenka and anyone else who wants to share! Feel free to @ me so I can see your post! <3

2, 5, 8 (Backtrack), 10, 15, 18, 23 & 33
I wanted to start out and say thanks for sending these questions. Answers are under a cut.
Which of your fics is your pride and joy?
I guess Backtrack is the oldest one, and I’m extremely proud of myself for sticking with it. I still fully intend to update it, but I’ve put a lot of time into it (and other stories).
It’s funny I should even mention my Emma/Jay story Together Forever got me through the early days of the pandemic. It would be a close second, and lately, I’ve been writing a lot for Where Are You Now?  older idea for a story that I reworked starting last year.
I feel so much for Backtrack because it was also my most challenging and the one that got me back into fanfiction after a few years. Around the same time, I was writing a discontinued story, The Starlet and the Dealer, about Zig and Maya circa season 13 but it’s soapy and I have no desire to revisit it. I’d probably end up throwing Zig and Maya who had a complicated dynamic throughout this story endgame, but it’d be a disservice to the story and it doesn’t matter because of the direction the show went into it was unfair to Zoe’s character even though it’s a fic. Does that make sense?
What’s something you learned while researching a fic?
I do some research, but I do apply a lot of random things from movie quotes, pop culture references, and things I find interesting into stories.
I guess I researched alcoholism for one of my earlier works I Have Nothing. I remember when I was in school I read a young adult short story in English class back in hs about being a ‘closet drunk’ and I kind of wrote it and threw some things together and some of the things I read about.
The story is set in season 3 when Emma had quite a bit on her plate from Snake’s cancer to a fallout with her best friend and more importantly, when she loses Sean. Isolated she forges a new friendship with Amy who leads a complicated and tumultuous home life. Sean becomes increasingly worried about her and more and more drawn to her as the story starts. It’s something the show at the time I was writing it didn’t explore until Fiona.
I also did some research on fake dating for Faking It. I gave it rom-com vibes, it’s one of the more lighthearted things I’ve written with less traumatic events I suppose.
What is your favorite line/section from [Backtrack]?
I like how Sean and Emma re-meet all over again, so they catch up with one another over coffee and Sean declares why he’s returned and it’s a bit predictable, and then they decide to take a walk in the park and eventually they end up at Emma’s, so I like writing beginnings and it turned into a longfic which it wasn’t meant to be that long.
Is there a character or ship you’d love to write for, but haven’t yet?
I haven’t written anything about other shows but Degrassi. I’d like to perhaps play in other universes in the future, such as Stranger Things.
First person to come to mind is Spinner he’s never really a centralized character. He’s either the waiter and tied to The Dot, or I’m breaking him and Emma up. I’ve never written anything centric to him. I guess I tried to expand him more in Backtrack but he’s definitely not a main character.
As for girlies, Liberty is rarely in my stories, if she is she isn’t centralized she is tied to Manny, and where it works for me/the story, sometimes she’s more friendly, or her loyalties are tied to Manny than to Emma a character I write most about.
I had Liberty make little cameos in a few stories, like reunion one-shots. I do have ideas for something like that where she is reunited with the child she put up for adoption with JT and grappling with that stuff. I don’t know if I could work with it or whatever, maybe someday.
Does anyone you know in real life know you write fanfiction?
My boyfriend knows I sometimes talk about them with him. He seems to be supportive.
How many WIPs do you have and how many do you expect to finish?
I suck. Here is a list. I do expect to finish most of them? I kind of fell out of love with I Have Nothing and Summer Days so I don't know, I kinda need motivation for them.
Backtrack
Faking It
Together Forever
Where are You Now?
Summer Days
I Have Nothing
What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?
Something about Miles and Lola, Zig and Maya, or some later characters. Maybe something special like where I peep where they are a few years after Lola graduates and where she is and how Zaya’s doing in California. I don’t know. I got some plot bunnies.
A character you want to protect.
I destroy them so I can fix them. No one is safe. Just kidding, I don’t know how to answer that.
Thanks for sending me these questions!

Dearest Courtney! Penny for your thoughts on these, for the ask game! 🍓,🔪, ☁️
Beautiful Minnie!!
🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?
- gosh I’ve been a fanfic reader since like 2007 I think? So I was already familiar with the realm of it all. But I didn’t consider writing until last year. I wrote a few novels in high school and would let them garner dust because I was terrified of how others would perceive my words. I did that with every short story, every random Drabble, every novella I typed over the years and hating myself because I wanted to write so much and do something with it, but was unfortunately terrified.
I love jjk. And I love (as you already know) Nanami, so I decided to write a story that I really had an interest in not only to connect with others, but to build my confidence of having someone else read what I wrote. I’m working on a new novel now and it’s been so refreshing to not be so restrictive in my creative process, and to also only write for myself.
☁️ what made you choose your username?
-I am absolute booty at usernames and story titles and chapters. And I just randomly thought “uhhh let’s add a feminine flair to ‘mystery’” since I couldn’t find another word that seemed ‘mysterious’ because I’m a loser LMFAO. But it stuck so I’m happy.
🔪 what’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
- my very first fic, It Had To Be You, had a pregnant reader for most of the story. And I would research body measurements and symptoms and even what to expect for every week after birth. It helped me with writing how the reader might be feeling at the time, how her clothes would fit, and I was able to mold the plot and nanamis dialogue and mannerisms around that.
It wasn’t necessarily weird, just a lot more extensive than I originally thought.
Also for my demon fic, I’ve been researching monster anatomy compared to a smaller form for sexual logistics. So lately it’s just weird sex positions and large monsters that have been sexualized (*cough* pyramid head) on my computer.
I know my FBI agent is looking at me sideways LOL
