joining a fandom 7 or 38 years too late is a wild experience. i can read the most insane, well-written reddie fic about eddie and stan dying but remaining tethered to the losers club as specters and having to navigate through the dreams of their living friends, and then turn around and read a tumblr post thirsting over henry and butch bowers

I just wanna say this ; I've been binging your Ao3 fics and so far my absolute favorite is Lets get you back to her! It's just, it's everything to me. It's so cute, and I love how the past and present parallel each other. And uhhhh the ending destroyed me.
I honestly can't wait for the sequel to it. I'm betting my bank account it's gonna be called Lets get you back to him.
Imagine if Ingo and Emmet took a trip to Sinnoh before, and Ingo got lost in Jubilife trying to meet up with Emmet. And then Johanna to the rescue, she guides him to the Cafe he's meant to be at, and then Emmet waves him over and draps an arm over his shoulder as he teases him about getting lost. And then it cuts to the present (a couple months after the first fic), where Johanna and Akari lead him to Gear Station or something, and then Emmet comes in running and tackle hugs Ingo in a tearful reunion.
Or maybe on a funnier note, Johanna tries to email Emmet like "hey come pick up your brother", but either never gets a response or Emmet doesn't believe her. So she hauls Ingo all the way to Unova (doesn't matter Ingo is legally dead or has no documentation on him, she's a famous coordinator and she can pull some strings), and takes him to Gear Station like "okay here he is".
In regards to my fic Let’s Get You Back to Her (Once again tumblr will not let me link the post to the fic, if you haven’t read it and want to, you can find it in my pinned post!)
THANK YOU FOR SUCH A FUN ASK ANON!! First off I’m so, so happy to hear that you want to binge read my stuff! ;0; <3 thank you!! I’m so glad to hear you like Let’s Get You Back to Her as well, it’s still one I really like!!
(Also, ‘Let’s Get You Back to Him’ is a PERFECT sequel title wow. I didn’t even think about that!! Kudos to you because that’s really good haha)
AND I REALLY LOVE YOUR IDEAS ANON THOSE ARE SO FUN!! The email variation is so funny because yeah I’m sure by that point Emmet would look at that email and think it’s a sick joke of some sort. Gotta drag Ingo over there now to prove it’s not!!
But the cafe idea is so sweet!! Now instead of Ingo bringing a lost Akari/Dawn back to Johanna, now Johanna’s gotta be the one to bring Ingo to Emmet haha. I really like that idea! And then doing it again at Gear Station, once again bringing Ingo back to Emmet but this time it’s much more emotional. Ahhh!! ;0;
Love these ideas anon! Thank you for sharing them!! But about how the sequel might actually go now…
Big ramble below about how I feel the originally planned sequel to LGYBTH would have to be different now, considering I still want it to be canon to my entire narrative, but also have to consider the events of IWLYB.
—————
The sequel is actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, so this ask was perfect timing haha. LGYBTH was written before I had really started constructing an overarching narrative in my works, so if you’re aware of my WIP fic I Won’t Leave You Behind, that fic would sort of change the sequel, as the sequel would come immediately after it — it basically involves Akari bringing Ingo back with her to modern day Sinnoh, and getting him to a hospital after he sustained a serious injury from an alpha garchomp while protecting her.
It changes a lot of circumstances, and would almost certainly have Johanna get to the hospital first. She would have some time there with both Akari/Dawn, and Ingo, though he probably isn’t all there for a while.
I feel like Ingo would probably take some time to identify, being in an entirely different region altogether with no form of identification and still lots of his memory missing (that is, when he’s even alert), and he is probably moderately known at best by the general population in Sinnoh.
Ingo would have to depend on Akari/Dawn and Johanna to really get things going and alert Emmet to get over to Sinnoh and see him.
I feel like during the time Johanna and Akari/Dawn are in the hospital with Ingo, just the two of them, Johanna would get to hear her daughter tell her everything that Ingo did for her, including what he did to end up in the hospital in the first place (and Johanna would probably be the one to tell Akari/Dawn that they had met him before, and he was the one who found her when she was lost in Gear Station when she was little).
Johanna would be so grateful, I’m sure that (with Akari begging her to haha) she’d insist that Ingo and Emmet stay at their house for a bit once he’s able to keep recovering outside of the hospital. Maybe even let Emmet stay there before that, just so he doesn’t have to keep paying for a hotel just to stay close to Ingo.
But this stay would be relatively short. I have a big reason as to why, and why Emmet would not initially be able to take Ingo back to Unova with him after he recovers, but I want to cover that when I actually get the fic out :)
It has gotten a lot more complicated now that I’ve built up so much more of the overarching narrative since then, but I feel like overall it can still wind back around to being very close to the originally planned LGYBTH sequel!
There is still a lot to consider and go through, but I’m having fun figuring out how to connect everything :) thank you again for the ask kind anon!!! I’m so happy you like my works!!

Some Do’s and Don’ts of Writing
(From an inexperienced writer)
1. It’s okay to take breaks, even if it’s just one day or maybe a couple days. Sometimes you need to step away before you get consumed by negativity and completely give up. When you take care of you and your mental health it reflects in your writing. I’ve noticed that even just doing chores helps my mindset because I’m being productive. Happy mind, happy writing. I’m actually taking a little break myself right now because this has been a stressful week between Christmas and everything else going on, not to mention the screaming toddler. Anyway, I might try getting back into it tonight or tomorrow because I’m feeling much less stressed since letting myself pause.
2. Going off of that, don’t write when you’re stressed because that will also reflect in your writing. Unhappy mind, unhappy writing.
3. Now sort of contrasting what I just said, write everyday. I’ve seen a couple people say this and completely agree. Even if it’s just one little sentence or planning what will happen. Or, if you’re like me, organizing your notes and plans. Commit, practice, see results.
4. Take your time. As much as we want it to sometimes, and I am absolutely calling myself out here, books don’t just magically write themselves. And that’s okay.
5. Write what speaks to you, what you actually want to write. If you’re trying to write something and your hearts not in it, you won’t like what you write. You will find something wrong with it at every turn. If you don’t enjoy writing it, don’t. Now maybe it’s just a scene you don’t feel like writing in that moment, that is okay too. You can always come back to it. Just save it for later and move on. Which brings me to my next thing:
6. Your first draft doesn’t have to be complete. You can do something like this: [fight scene here] [spicy scene here] [so and so talk about…]. And that is perfectly fine. I use brackets in this way ALL the time, even if it’s just my plan for the chapter.
7. It’s okay to have goals, but don’t worry too much about the word count. It’s about the quality, not the quantity. Yes, many readers like a long read. But just because it’s longer doesn’t mean it’s better. I’ve talked about this a couple times since joining Tumblr. Always, always, always quality over quantity. This goes for readers as well, just because a book or fanfic is shorter doesn’t mean it isn’t as good as a long one. Wrapping it all up in a short fic is actually hard to do, so kudos to you if you can. (Kudos to every writer as well, you’re doing great.)
8. Pacing, another thing I’ve discussed a couple times now. One thing I’ve noticed about really long fics is that the pacing is often SO slow. No hate, I like a long read too. But sometimes there’s too much inner monologue or descriptions and I’m thinking “Where’s the plot? Can we get a move on?” I think it’s great when a writer is so good they can hash out huge amounts of inner monologue and describe things. But don’t over do it. Don’t over describe something. Let your readers use their imagination too. It’s okay to cut things down. Again, quality over quantity. Over doing it can also lead to your work becoming repetitive. I’m not going to call anyone out but I have noticed this a couple times.
9. It’s okay to write out of order. Many of us, including myself, prefer to write chronologically. Which is good, helps your flow/pacing, but sometimes there’s a particular idea stuck in your mind that you have to write before you forget or something. Do it. Get it out. Free up your writing flow. Sometimes this helps the chronological writing too. The first, and one of the only scenes I’ve written for my OG so far, was literally the last scene of book one. The next ff I plan to write is literally built around (maybe) the last scene of book 1 as well.
10. Don’t be discouraged when your first draft sucks and needs MAJOR editing. It’s supposed to. Let it be the mess it’s meant to be.
11. Going off of that, don’t edit as you write. There’s plenty of time to do that later.
12. A little advice from my beta reader, but said a bit differently because I don’t feel like going through my emails rn, who may have noticed a couple familiar things already, when you’re stuck staring at your screen with nothing coming to mind, WALK AWAY. Do not sit there wallowing in your frustration. Do something else and try again when you’re ready. Your book will still be there later.
13. If you’re writing fanfic, which I’m guessing many of you are because this post is a little more ao3 targeted, or publishing chapters in a schedule and not the whole thing at once then write ahead. Have prewritten chapters before you post. Saves you the pressure of uploading on time, which will eat at your writing. Gives you buffer time, and obviously chapters ready to update for your chosen schedule. However it is good to have a goal to motivate you, so maybe you want to stay a certain number of chapters ahead. The author of a book I’m reading has a goal of 20 chapters ahead, which they did slip on because a certain part was “being a bitch”. That is okay and a prime example of the importance of writing ahead.
14. Which, another thing from my beta reader. You can update more than once a week. You also don’t have to update once every week, whatever works for you. And many of us binge read so maybe you can do double/triple updates once a week or upload a new chapter twice a week.
15. A little quote from Bluey: “Run your own race”. Writing is not a competition. Don’t compare your work to someone else’s and get in your head thinking your writing isn’t good enough. 1, maybe your style and plot is JUST the thing someone was looking for. There is a reader for every author. Like, bookish soulmates if you get my drift. 2, you will get better as your practice. Everyone starts somewhere and we can’t all be Stephen King’s and pop a book out like it’s nothing and never be affected by writers block and that is perfectly fine. Run your own race. Which, just to be clear, it is in no way a race and never should be. Racing to finish your work could very well be the thing to kill it. And I say “kill” a bit loosely because again, “taking your time” will make your work better but just because you hurry to finish something doesn’t mean it’s not good.
16. Lastly, I’m going to talk about trigger warnings. The mental health of your readers is very important, honestly, THE most important thing. Yours as well, authors can be affected by their writing too, so, take care of yourself and your readers. Part of my goal in my WIP may be to break my reader’s hearts, with comfort after of course, but not their mind. So, I’ve decided to make a google doc with all of my TWs plus chapterly warnings for those who need it and also to prevent spoilers for those who don’t as I myself have accidentally spoiled a chapter for myself because I saw a trigger warning and this felt like the best of both worlds. Here’s the doc if you’re curious (I am still writing the beginning, so some/many things may be subject to change):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f8PoNmPYwEtSSH8-f0V1ql8xeDFtF4hymiffi9d_Hf8/edit
If you have anything to add, I’d love to hear your thoughts. As I said, I am inexperienced and in no way an expert. These are just some things that I learned, which for some reason I had the sudden urge to share, and I am still learning.

the issue with drarry
before you get angry, hear me out.
[ has mentions of sex, although not explicit; don’t read for younger audiences ]
i am a huge drarry fan. i’ve always loved the rivals-to-lovers trope (if you wanna call it enemies-to-lovers, go ahead, the line between rivals and enemies is so blurred in fanfiction) and drarry sets it up perfectly - draco, a normal boy (not some sort of miniature devil baby) who grew up surrounded by bigoted views and a controlling father (not entirely abuse, although i’m not defending lucius here, I’m just saying we don’t automatically have to make lucius abusive because he was on the wrong side) and ended up biting off more than he could chew. he joined the wrong side, and we know that draco sees this, particularly in deathly hallows and the cursed child. then we have harry, the golden boy who was automatically born into the light side, who was forced to believe the world is either inherently evil or inherently good; a black-and-white picture, if you will. either way, draco is the supposed ‘enemy’ and harry is the ‘hero’.
and while this works perfectly fine - both are compelling characters, although harry, in my opinion, isn’t as well-thought out as draco - the way the fandom pushes them into certain characterizations drives me insane.
draco is almost always the mastermind, the trickster, the feminine sub, the one who doesn’t need anybody else because they’re lesser than him, the smooth one, the one who always apologizes to the golden trio when the golden trio did some shit things too, the one who’s despicable but also has a great heart and ‘my dad told me no’, the one who never grows out of insulting harry and his friends. why is draco portrayed like this? why does he always, post-war, suddenly join the golden trio and get on his hands and knees to ask for forgiveness? where are his slytherin buddies? i thought draco saw the slytherins as his friends, not the shit image of them that dumbledore painted when the bastard was alive. yet, he almost never spends time with them in fanfictions, especially post-war. he IMMEDIATELY runs to the golden trio and gets wrapped up in the whole weasley family. what happened to his family? i do know that his parents (or just lucius) are thrown into azkaban, and half of his family is shit, but that doesn’t mean he has to completely dump them, or his friends.
speaking of family, why does harry have SO much more family lore (especially with the Blacks) than draco? draco’s the one who’s related to them! shouldn’t he have some memorable experiences with his family that aren’t just outright abuse? it drives me insane.
and why are draco’s sectumsempra scars sexualized? harry fucking outright attacked him with a spell he didn’t know how to use (kudos to hermione on this one) and then 19 years later, they’re fucking each other and moaning about how pretty his scars look. harry ATTACKED him. draco somehow ALWAYS forgets about his scars until they’re in bed together, and then when harry sees them, he’s like “oh sorry” and draco IMMEDIATELY forgives him, or doesn’t even say anything. What? this also leads towards the helpless, overdramatic princess draco who needs everything done for him. no. draco might’ve been helpless when he was younger, but that’s because his parents - especially lucius - were so controlling. he literally couldn’t do anything. draco knows how to take care of himself.
now. harry. harry is always the masculine golden boy who can’t determine his broom from his glasses, who always needs draco to apologize to him and doesn’t see the world beyond black and white, even after the war. and while harry was forced to believe this by a whole number of people (mostly the order), he never grows out of this. but at the same time, draco is always the one exception to this. draco’s the one who “isn’t like the other girls” and who harry somehow manages to forgive every time. I’m not excusing harry and the golden trio for their behavior, as they did some fucked up shit too, but draco also wasn’t a great person either. he called hermione a mudblood on several occasions, but for some reason, it’s always ron and draco who can’t get along. why is hermione so willing to forgive? in the books, ron should be the one willing to forgive, and hermione the one who doesn’t like draco. and dramione is a whole other post, along with how women are portrayed in the hp universe and in the fandom.
harry is also always putting up with draco’s shit behavior. draco calls his friend a racial slur? well, he doesn’t mean it because that’s how he was raised. draco insults his intelligence every other word he speaks? well, that’s just one of his quirks. no. canon harry would get up off of his ass and say something, but for some reason in the fandom, he’s always this doormat who can’t get over draco’s fucking nose shape when draco is actively insulting him. fanon harry never stands up for himself. he’s always saying how draco is just trying to change, he doesn’t mean to call hermione a mudblood or actively insult the weasleys and the fact they can’t afford a whole fucking mansion like draco can.
and then, for some reason, harry’s always this himbo quidditch jock. while harry isn’t the brightest (“why is roonil wazlib written on the inside of your textbook?” “ah, that’s my nickname” WHAT 😭) he certainly isn’t a complete and total idiot. he’s the chosen one, and i would like to think that harry had to learn a great deal of things to protect himself. maybe harry never studied in school, but god, did he learn expecto patronum quick. just because harry was never really seen traditionally studying doesn’t mean his brain is smoother than ice. give me a harry that is constantly looking for more protection spells to protect himself and his friends, even if it isn’t through traditional means (think hermione the bookworm, if you want an example). give me a harry who spends time with neville studying the healing properties of plants in case he doesn’t have a potion on him. give me a harry who could list out how to brew a polyjuice potion off the top of his head. while i don’t like auror harry that much, i can certainly see that aurors need to have some level of intelligence if they’re actively fighting dark wizards. they need to know the aftereffects of this spell and the cure to fix it.
anyways that’s it for today because my post is so long wtf. i need sleep.

Power Rangers (2017) fic rec list: (UPDATED: Jan, 2024)
Hello there, as someone who loves this movie, I decided to make a list of fics that’ve read, or am about to read, to anyone who is interested:
Note: I’m only putting here fics that I’ve read. So if someone knows a fic they might want to recommend, let me know! XD  There are currently almost two thousand works on the power rangers 2017 tag on AO3, so be sure to look around and dig for stuff you might like.
NOTE: Remember to check out the author if you like their stories! Leave comments and kudos and reblog stuff you like, apreciation is always important
Illustrated Story: @theone-with-thestuff ‘s power rangers sequel: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5 , part 6, part 7 , part 8
MultiChapter fics (post-canon)
Rangers with Attitude by SmokeyCut : A sequel to the movie that is very in synch with the power rangers universe, both in how the story is told and how light it feels. THat doesn’t stop the drama from happening though. Awesome battle scenes and a very engaging take on Tommy, and the 2017 universe as a whole.
Power Rangers 2: Sythesis by SatanSpeaks (mature) : This fic is a piece, it’s another sequel to the movie, but with a much more bleak look on the universe as a well, however, it doesn’t dive too much into it and it has plenty of hopeful moments to spare. It’s a fic that leaves you on the edge of your seat, start to finish, biting your nails hoping everything will work out.
we gladiate but i guess we're really fighting ourselves by sunnydalehart: “The rangers don't really know what they're doing, but they really are trying their best.” -- Another post-canon fic with good romance, and team-bonding, check it out!!! (Trimberly) (Billy/ Jason/Zack)
Power Rangers 2: Rise of the Green Ranger by IzzyIniguez: Rita loses her coin, but finds a new power.  The rangers learn to be a team and meet the Tommy and Tamsin Oliver, the new (twin) kids in town. Sparks fly and tempers flare between Kim and Tommy, and Trini and Tamsin. I think this might be one of the most original takes on 2017 Tommy Oliver out there.
Short-stories:
5 Times Jason Scott Was Protective of His Team by notawriters: Jason-centric goodness!!!!
Zack Taylor Designated Driver Squad by iwasnthere622 : Zack didn't have the best school record. His friends help him fix that. -- This isn’t as much a sequel fic as it is a Zack sequel fic, exploring his life after becoming a ranger, and how he relates to his new friends. The chapters go through his bond with each of the rangers, and it’s an amazing piece of Zack Taylor fanfic, enriching what we already saw in the movie. One of my all time favourites!!
Been There, Done That by TaikoTurtle: The team has a bonding camping trip up on the mountains, but after a series of unfortunate events, Kimberly has to figure out how to make things right, including her feelings.
One More Ride by magimumu: (NEW!) : Uber driver Trini picks up Kim on a rainy evening. (TRIMBERLY)   (This short one is amazing! Like poetry! Can’t recommend enough!)
One-Shots:
***NEW!!!!! - (This is) Good Weird -  by Laslus -----  Poly Rangers fic!!! -  Or: The Huge Colective Denial of FeelingsThe first time Trini notices, they are around the fire. She looked at the whole picture, feeling the warmness she usually felt when hanging with them, how she finally felt like she belonged somewhere. She should focus on that, on the happiness she felt as they sang off tune, how they were a picture together. Oh.
All of the Above  by songofsunset : This short one shot is a perfetc mood setting piece, with rangers hanging out. In a few senteces, it grasps both each ranger’s personallities and the nature of their both. Sweet fluffiness all around.
Just let me love you when your heart is tired by milkyegg_carton: A cure little fluff about the aftermath of the battle with Goldar!!
walk me home by twoorangecookies: A nice little, well, it’s canon complaint but it’s sort of a missing scene, but it’s also sort of an AU where Kim asks Trini to walk her home.
Campfire Dance-Off by Skyland2704: team bonding fluffiness!
we carry each other (we’re just different colors) by hearden: This is a fascinating fic, about the rangers before being rangers! Seriously! There are so many character beats, and a very good grasp on the characters!!
am i the only living soul around by younglegends: A story told backwards, going from the aftermath of the movie to the very beginning. Again, another rich story exploring the characters and their core! An awesome read about the power rangers that really makes a point about their evolution and their bond in face of their sttrugles. I always go back to this fic for inspiration.
Do Better by iwasnthere622: One of the best jason centtric fics out there, exploring his role as leader and the way he shoulders the burden.
Dildo Wars  by cabooseachievables : I think this is one of the most fun pieces of fanwork I’ve ever read, seriously, just pure delight from start to finish as the rangers start a prank war between themselves.
**********NEW!!!!!!!!! Riding Shot Gun by zipzipnada:   --Kimberly finds out her new friends have never tried weed before, and knows for a fact Jason is a shotgun king.
Shipping Fics:
BY THE WAY, THE AUTHOR tworangecookies has plenty of Trimberly works if you’re interested, I can’t recommend enough to check them out, you’ll definetly find something for your tastes, both on AO3 and on tumblr @5ivebyfive. Another tumblr with fics in this universe is @magicmumu2
you’re my sunshine by titaniaeli: Short, fluff, and engaging, basically a tale of Jason falling in love with his team. (RANGER POLYCULE)
in a hopeless place by twoorangecookies: (AU) This is one of my favorite fics. It’s an Outsiders AU, and I never had contact with The Outsiders, but I do love how consistent the rangers are even in an Alternative universe. This fic is well paced, and leaves tense with each cliffhanger, not to mention the forbidden romance, which is just *cheff’s kiss. (TRIMBERLY)
The Heart part 1 by The Otter Limits: While this fic is a sequel to the movie, I’m putting it here, because its main focus is the relationship between Trini and Kimberly. I really love this fic because it has a very heavy dose of Angst. I’m not sure it’s everyone’s cup of tea, but I do love the melodrama involved. Also, there is some neat world building about the rangers’ powers and the universe they live in. (TRIMBERLY)
The Hunt For Love by magicmumu: Awesome Valentine’s day Fluff, what else can you wish for? Honestly, the dialog between the characters as they go on an scavenge hunt it’s so amazing, you can’t help reading this with a smile on your face. Can’t recomment enough. (TRIMBERLY)
Fire meet gasoline by twoorangecookies: (mature) A cute little soccer AU, with that good old rivals to lovers premise. What more can I say? Go check it out!! (TRIMBERLY)
Clarity by thebrightestbird: I think this was the first time I read about this ship, and interestingly it immediately spread to be fond of it in the tv show universe as well. Great stuff!!!  (ZACK/JASON)
with my feelings on fire (guess I'm a bad liar) by movingforthesakeofmotion: The one where a date night turns into exposed secrets and discoveries. (TRIMBERLY, CRANSCOTT)
We can have all that we ever wanted by theshipstorulethemallwrites: 5 Times Someone Thought The Rangers Were Dating and 1 Time They Were
EXPLICIT FICS:
Turning sweet love into poison by twoorangecookies: (EXPLICIT) this fic is Intense, and I really advise you to look into the tags before going in. It deals with heavy subjects like body dysmorphia, so be mindful. Now that that’s out of the way, this fic is delicious to read, two traumatize characters navigating a complex situation, it has all those spices for those who love some heavy Angst in their romance. (TRIMBERLY)
Legacy of Power by Hearden (Mature, but the collection has Explicit fics): (INCOMPLETE) .This fic is interesting because it’s sort of a nice multiverse mix between the tv show and the movie, with the simple premisse of having TV Kimberly and Tommy meeting the 2017 rangers. It’s one amazing fic, very well written with an awesome premisse and solid character work. It’s specially awesome to see two versions of Kimberly knowing and interacting with one another.
*****NEW !!!! -- Shut up and Drive -  by Twoorangecookies --  (Sort of a power rangers meet Fast and Furious, but R rated 😈)  Trini is looking forward to start her new career as a rookie cop. She isn't the best at relationships, so she goes out one night just looking for a thrill. Then she stumbles on a scene that is not her scene at all and more thrill than she asked for, and she meets a woman that is the most annoying, obnoxious woman she's ever met. A woman she wouldn't go for in a million years. At least...that's what she thinks.
PS: I have to say, it’s really interesting to go through fandoms, not only to meet how diverse people’s interpretations can be, but how rich and creative they are as well. Just the ammount of Tommy Olivers I’ve seen for the 2017 universe is stagering, not one version is the same, and that, I think, is also very precious.
Anyway, remember to comment, reblog, and all that stuff that shows authors your apreciation. Feel free to add fics you might’ve read and are not here, I’ll sure try to do so as I find new ones. I tried to categorize stuff as best as I could.

⁺˚☽ Ꭺᏼꮻꮜꭲ ꮇꭼ⁺˚☾⁺
You know I realized I never did a full-blown about me that I can use as a pinned post and sort of hub for everything. I’m not very good at them, but we’ll make do. Also, I want everyone to congratulate me on being the dumbest bitch in the room, I finally figured out the 'small' text stuff....jfc.
Hello! I’m Buggy, She/They, disaster, well over 18, Jurassic even. I have two cats (Ezio & Ringo) and a pitbull (Cassie).
Um, my primary fandom currently is Doctor Who, but I had been a roleplayer for too long across many fandoms (DC, Marvel, Sherlock, Supernatural, Harry Potter). I don’t roleplay anymore; I have focused on writing fanfiction instead, roleplaying with myself as you do. I do a few different things to keep myself busy; besides writing, I stream occasionally on Twitch. I am not a professional, but I have fun. I mainly yell and die in the game, but sometimes I’m really funny.
As for writing, I am fairly new to the fanfiction game. I’ve only done it a few months; I started being actually active in April! I started as a Missy x Reader blog, and I like to think I have expanded more, being more comfortable in writing for The Master (Simm & starting to get a feel for Dhawan) in general, as well as adding a few more characters. Speaking of which, I am going to break down the characters I am comfortable writing; I have even thought about opening up to start writing for a few more fandoms. A pattern will become clear; Idk what it says about me.
DOCTOR WHO|
Missy/The Master 9th Doctor/10th Doctor/12th Doctor/14th Doctor Kate Lethbridge-Stewart DC|
Jack Napier/The Joker (Dark Knight)  Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow (Dark Knight, ArkhamVerse)
HARRY POTTER| Bellatrix Lestrange Tom Riddle Draco Malfoy (*of age)
The pattern is that I primarily write the ‘villains'...oopsie daisy.
ANYWAY, Requests are open; if you send one in, please tell me if you want sfw/nsfw. It might take me some time since I am drowning in kinktober, but I do try to do requests first, cause I love you all. Come 'ere, let me kiss your foreheads.
But that is me in a nutshell; in the beginning, I didn’t know what was proper etiquette for interacting, so just I didn't, and that was my fault. I am getting better, I am just a little socially anxious bug, but I want to thank each and every one of you, to everyone who reads my works and likes/leaves kudos, comments, and reblogs; you all mean the world. Just know I get very happy about any interaction! And to everyone who follows me, welcome to Jackass baby! We have no clue what we are doing here, but it’s chaotic and wild.
Under the read more will be the master list/tag list stuff.

Any advice for learning how to not care that your fics don't get many comments and kudos? I know you're maybe not the best person to ask your writing is so popular but it's discouraging
First of all, I’m sorry love. That is super discouraging.
Second. My most popular fic on AO3 has 1540 comments, 2492 kudos, and almost 63,000 hits. My least popular fic has 5 comments (two of which are my own replies), 12 kudos, and 292 hits. I am incredibly lucky in my current fandom that people are interested in reading my work but that doesn’t mean everything I’ve ever written has been instantly adored. I have been the popular writer everyone is talking about and I have been the one almost no one reads. One time I got picked dead last by an artist for a fandom big bang challenge on the FOURTH round of selection and the only reason the artist got my story is because she was late to selection and it was the only one left. Otherwise my fic wouldn’t have been claimed at all.
Who does numbers on AO3 and who doesn’t is not only a matter of talent or skill, all sorts of other factors go into it too and lots of them are totally beyond the control of the author. I know it’s such a bummer to work hard on something and then feel like it’s being ignored, believe me. It’s the worst. But sometimes that’s going to happen and you’re not going to be able to control it. You have to decide if you enjoy the creative process of writing enough to keep doing it even without external validation that sometimes you’ll get and sometimes you won’t and no one is entitled to. If the answer is no, you don’t enjoy it enough to keep going without more comments, then it’s probably better to stop. But I hope you don’t. Someone is going to love your story. Just like with all types of art creation, the good part is you will feed your soul, you’ll expand your mind, you’ll put something into the world that you were passionate about. The hard part means sometimes you are going to pour your heart into something and the right people won’t find it. That doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable, and it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep creating.

AO3 Chaos
I invite anyone who is interested to 1) Respond to these questions and 2) TELL ME WHAT YOUR AO3 IS SO I CAN FIND YOU THERE!
Thank you @c-starstuff-man0 for the tag! (I think someone else also tagged me but I could not find it- so thank you to you, as well, whoever you are!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3? I currently have 7 works up on AO3.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 26,150. (That will easily double when I start posting Letters of Love, since LoL is already about 40,000 words. Oops!)
3. What fandoms do you write for? On AO3, currently only ACOTAR and Crescent City (so, SJM Universe stuff)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? (I linked my AO3 at the bottom if you want to go check any of these out!)
The Power of Jewelry (Azris, fluff)
When the Blood Burns (Azris, angst/MCD stuff)
Stormy Night in the Library (Azriel x Reader, fluff)
Death & All That Follows (Azris, definitely angst at this point). This is hilarious because it’s only half done and I’m not sure I like the ending I’ve written, which means it could go happy or sad and I don’t know how to feel about that.
Even In the Dark (Cassian x Reader, hurt/comfort and kind of fluffy) I won’t lie I had to revisit this one to remember what it was lol
5. Do you respond to comments? Yes, and I’m mean about it. Sorry to anyone who has been on the receiving end of a teasing chaos comment. I maybe have too much fun dangling teasers like carrots on a stick...
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hahahha. Uh. Probably When the Blood Burns. For now, anyways.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? (Do I write happy endings?) Stormy Night in the Library takes my vote for this, though Say It’s True (Mor x Emerie) is also cute and ends happily. I love them.
8. Do you write smut? Yes. There are some smutty elements to things I have posted. I haven’t written anything specifically for smut though.
9. Do you write crossovers? Nothing that’s posted.
10. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Uh… not on AO3! (But if you want to check out the Gold Star Crack Headcanons @ninthcircleofprythian and I wrote a little bit ago here they are!)
12. What is your all-time favorite ship? Please. Please don’t hate me. I’ve been on a Dramione train for years now. I know it’s controversial. I can’t get them out of my head.
13. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Would it be bad if I said “Letters of Love”? No. I want to finish it so badly. I do. I’m just scared. I’m working on it, I swear. It just feels monstrous at this point.
In actuality, I think it’s the crossover that I’m working on. It’s a Throne of Glass/ACOTAR/Crescent City monstrosity that would be roughly 400 9x11 pages long, 12 pt font single spaced with formatting. It started as a romance, morphed into a second-gen TOG x ACOTAR throuple adventure and political drama. Now I just don’t know what to do with it because the universe I’ve imagined for this is so insane and I cannot do it justice.
14. What are your writing strengths? I write with my whole heart, and I care about every word. I’ve been practicing for years.
15. What are your writing weaknesses? Mental illness. Procrastination. Writing 10k in 24 hours and then never finishing that work. I overthink everything. Next question. Please.
16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I love it. However, I much prefer it when it’s canon that the character speaks another language. I feel awkward prescribing languages to characters unless it’s some sort of AU. I read an incredible Azris AU (linked HERE, check the tags please, written by the wonderful @annaskareninas for Azris Week) where Eris is Italian, and it worked beautifully because it was an AU! But if I was writing in universe, I would have a harder time making Eris speak Italian because for all we know they’re speaking Fae Language We Don't Have a Name For and Italian doesn’t exist in the universe. It’s a mental block for me. I don't mind reading it though!
17. First fandom you wrote for? …Harry Potter. It was 2011, okay?! However, the first I ever POSTED was Percy Jackson. Don't ask me where they ended up, it was a long time ago and those secrets were lost to the sea
18. Favorite fic you’ve written? When the Blood Burns. It hurts just right.
Tags (no pressure!): @positivelyruined @annaskareninas @ ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS! Also, let me know what your AO3 is in replies or reblogs. I need to follow more of you over there <3
My AO3 is keyboard_clacks, or chairofchaos. I post and respond to comments under both pseuds! Find Me Here!

Hope you don't mind a little curiosity...
I saw you don't write OCs that are a character's friend/sister/daughter and just wondered why not? Is it just not something you vibe with or feel inspired by? And does that just extend to your writing or do you avoid reading fics that involve those sorts of OCs as well?
I just ask cos that style of OC is almost always the first type of fic I look for when looking for character/OC fics, so I thought it'd be interesting to hear a (maybe) opposing view.
Hope this is ok! ♥️
(Sorry if this has been asked and answered before)
Tumblr media
Hi,
I don’t mind answering the question but in all honestly you’re probably not going to like the answer esp if you’re a fan of the trope.
I find them creatively stifling because people always want them to go one way and it’s always the same way which is boring. The person is usually introduced to the group, the MC falls in love and everyone else adores her too, OC says she’s a grown woman but they have to keep it a secret, eventually they’re found out and everything is ok. It always becomes the main focus and basis for the relationship so we’re not learning about two people falling in love, (which is what I like) it’s about oh we need to keep it a secret from…
I also find them incredibly unrealistic and childish. I come from a family of 5 brothers, all our friends were intermingled because of the way our age ranges fell. There was never that much drama over dating friends and stuff, every one made they’re own choices and mostly it was respected. It feels like it’s unnecessary drama for the sake of it. Like my brothers did not give a shit who I dated so long as I was safe and vice versa, even if they did who gives a shit it’s not their business. My parents were similar. They may not of liked some of my bfs but they would never have stopped me from dating them. (They absolutely adore my husband and would very much adopt him if we divorce)
The fics I’ve read like this (and I read so many when I first came to the fandom because I devoured EVERYTHING for my fav characters) are usually not every well written and are very OOC. The dialogue and the drama is childish and unrealistic and the voices completely out of character. It’s usually terms like Daddyyyyyyy but I love him, you don’t control me. And Daddy’s usually like sorry pumpkin, or while your still my daughter….  It’s very templated and generic. There are exceptions to this but not many in my experience. Also it comes off as very toxic masculinity to me as it’s always a man’s relative, a man being protective when the woman doesn’t need it. < It’s never addressed on a realistic level and all is forgiven, no one self reflects or deals with the issue.
I think to me as a writing coach and editor, and also from my own experience the trope is usually a stepping stone for developing writers as they learn how to develop characters. It’s usually because the writer doesn’t know how to put their OC into the characters life any other way and it’s the quickest way of doing it without giving any thought to personality, backstory, individuality – they are essentially an extension of their family member. It’s a great learning curve but I work with writers like this on a daily basis when I’m reading for enjoyment I want to read something that’s far more polished. I’m a very character driven reader and writer, I like complicated character driven stories. The stories usually in that trope don’t play at that level because the writers aren’t there yet and that’s ok! Everyone’s learning.
It can also be an example of lazy writing. People who don’t develop their work any further than this because they’re chasing kudos and don’t feel the need to because they’re all about those likes.
Either way I prefer much more polished work by people who have taken the time to develop their craft because to me I get more from it. There’s much more richness and depth in the writing and they cover more adult, realistic topics. To me there’s a lot more important shit going on in my life and in the world than giving a shit about who is dating one of my brothers and I think most RL adults feel like that too.
On the opposite side of that I do understand the need for escapism and why this trope appeals, it’s just not my cup of tea.

20 fanfic questions
thanks for the tag @randomfoggytiger!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
95.
2. What’s your total Ao3 words count?
368,619
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The X-Files, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: Picard, the Star Trek novel-verse, and I just posted a fic for The West Wing
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Platonic Procreation, Eden, The MSR Files, Mother Knows Best, and Though the Heavens Fall (also I need to mention my current WIP Security Questions bc it's only three kudos away from a tie with fifth place!)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most of the time! I usually respond to friends/ people I know well, or if someone pointed out something specific in my fic they liked. And I responded to every comment made on my West Wing fic so far bc I want the fandom to notice me😅
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
lol I don’t write many fics with angsty endings (I do like writing angst sometimes but I need things to end happily😅) but I guess this would be Baby Blue, If I Could Only Break the Sky, or When We Were Whole (not sure which one would be the most angsty)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
so many! lol but I wanna single out Coda bc it was my attempt at wrapping up the mytharc and giving Mulder and Scully a happy ending with William (and giving Samantha’s storyline some actual closure lmao) and I think I did a decent job of it🤗
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I did get a hateful comment on a fic not long ago (ironically, it was and still is my most popular fic by almost every metric so someone was clearly jelly lmao) and I’ve had a couple of comments in the past on different fics that weren’t quite hateful but more like critiquing/nitpicking character or writing choices.
9. Do you write smut?
no absolutely not never ugh
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don’t think I’ve ever written one! But I have ideas for TXF/Star Trek and TXF/SVU crossovers that I might write someday if I ever find the time/energy/inspiration😅
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t think so but I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No idea!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! The gang and I have co-written quite a few fics, which can all be found in this collection🤗
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
MSR of course!! But I will always have a soft spot for Riker/Troi and joshdonna is beginning to take up more and more space in my brain lmao
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have a Riker/Troi amnesia fic that has been sitting in my notes for three years, every chapter either written, partly written, or outlined, but I just can’t make myself sit down and sort it out😫 also I used to start publishing fics before I was certain where I was going with them, and For War Alone is a relic of that (and it has also been sitting there since 2020 lol)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I have been told I’m really good at dialogue, and I choose to take people at their word😅
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’m addicted to adverbs, also I just love reusing the same words and phrases over and over- one time in a first draft I used the word ‘actually’ four times in a single paragraph!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I love reading that! I feel like it makes the setting and characters and everything seem more realistic, but for writing it I pretty much need to rely on google translate or multilingual moots lol
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I wrote a LotR fic a long time ago! But the first fic in my modern day stretch of fic writing was for the Star Trek novel-verse: Psi-Ops
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
Oh gosh this is so hard but I’m gonna say Where A Million Stars Catch Fire bc I put in a lot of time and effort carefully constructing it as a tribute to Mulder’s birthday this year, and I’m really proud of how it ultimately turned out🥰
Tagging @tofuttim @katy-kt-katie @incidental-ao3 @cutemothman @mollybecameanengineer and whoever else who wants to do it!

It’s Wednesday and I’m trying to not freak out because I’ll return to school on Monday and goodbye writing time:c
Thanks for the tag @palimpsessed @larkral @stitchyqueer and @cutestkilla
I’m a bit bad with fic recs BUT I’ve been reading long fics lately since I had the time and the last one was Poison In His Blood by notcanoncompliant. I really enjoyed that fic. Stars werewolf!Simon. And I just loved it. Even bookmarked it.
Well, now to the good part.
Regarding my Ballet AU, I’m struggling to end Chapter 14 but here’s some words from Chapter 10, which is the next chapter to come out.
Do you think Baz has suffered enough? Well. It’s Simon’s turn now.
“Snow,” I call him as he drinks the last sip of his water. He looks my way, and raises his eyebrows, silently asking me to go on. “Doesn’t your mum have alcohol? Or something to drink?”
It is getting sort of late, and the drinks always come after a splendid dinner. If we were at the Manor and Father liked Snow, he would have pulled out a bottle of alcohol already to continue with the lovely night. Joking around by getting just a bit tipsy.
His expression darkens a bit. He shakes his head, putting down his glass.
“She…” He sighs, looking away. “She doesn’t like me drinking. It’s bad augury.”
“May I ask for what?”
He keeps looking away.
“Dad was an alcoholic bastard and—Well, I guess you can imagine the rest.”
I really like this chapter, because it led me to write other 4 more, but the words aren’t getting out at all, so I decided to leave that fic alone for now because I’m going to get sick of it if I try to write more. WHICH IS WHY I found myself writing the next chapter for Protecting you like a Pitch.
I have to admit that I feel like that fic is really meh for people who read my stuff for no reason. And it doesn’t make any sense because it’s literally my most popular fic, most kudoed, most bookmarked, most everything, and it still feels smol to me.
But well. Ignored the fic for five months and wrote Chapter 18 last night. I just published it, actually. So here’s a few words because I can’t never leave the boys be happy:
I always dreamed of the Mage loving me; he was my savour, after all, so I thought expecting those feelings from him was only logical. He must have had his reasons to show Watford to me, right? Other than wanting a soldier? A puppet?
I look at Baz, and I can’t help feeling that he was right all these years.
I was the Mage’s little dog, following after its owner without a question.
Of course Baz has apologised for having offended me so many times—I have as well—, but his words were always true. And I always knew, but I tried to fool myself. I tried to accept the Mage’s screams, his reprimands, and disappointed looks, because I genuinely thought I was the problem. And I was. Wasn’t as well.
Watching Baz defend me in such a feral way because it was unfair and wrong for the Mage to treat me the way he had always treated me was a shocker. My world turned upside down.
The chapter isn’t about exclusively that, but I thought of the Mage being an asshole and thought of making these two wips have that in common.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
I was tagged by the wonderful @minim236 ! 😘 Thank you, doll!
1- How many works do you have on AO3?
Only 7! (Very soon to be 8! 👀) All of them are from my Meet Me at Midnight series.
2- What's your total AO3 word count?
67,450… which is a little crazy to me! (Also, in looking for these stats, I learned that “Can I Ask You a Question” has 15,998 words, and now it’s taking everything in me not to just go in and add two words somewhere. LOL)
3- What fandoms do you write for?
I’m still a really new writer, and Bridgerton is the only fandom I’ve written in, technically… Although I once started a Poldark fanfic that I abandoned and never published. (That was back when I was still very gun shy about posting anything anywhere!)
4- What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
First place: Can I Ask You a Question? - 290
2 - I’m So In Love - 258
3 - Stars by the Pocketful - 233
4 - Older but Just Never Wiser - 185
Last place: My Whole Life - 154
(“Can I Ask You a Question?” was the one I was most insecure about so it’s nice that it did so well.)
5- Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I respond to every comment I see because I can’t believe how sweet people have been about my little stories. I so appreciate everyone who takes the time to say something nice!
I’ve always loved writing. Pretty much since I could hold a pencil, it’s been a sort of coping mechanism (and occasionally a source of stress 😆 ) but I’ve never ever felt confident enough to share anything with anyone. With fanfic, I finally freed myself to write little plotless stories and share them, and it’s been unbelievably rewarding and I genuinely feel it’s helping me grow as a writer. Knowing that people enjoy the thing that gave me so much joy to write is mind-blowing. ❤️
6- What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Honestly, I’m not that angsty in my writing. I think “Older but Just Never Wiser” was my angstiest fic, but the ending was still fairly sweet and resolved. I honestly can’t imagine myself writing something with an angsty ending!
7- What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh my gosh, I think my first one, “I’m So In Love…” was absolutely saccharine! It was nothing but candy-coated sweetness. However, “My Whole Life” ended in a proposal/engagement with like fireworks, so I guess it’s a coin toss.
8- Do you get hate on fics?
I haven’t yet! (Thanks, everyone!!)
9- Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No — not yet! I’m definitely still too shy about it. But I do have an outline for a little something smutty that I wrote once when the muse visited me with it... Whether it will ever see the light of day depends on, like, my confidence and the supply of whisky in my house. Haha
10- Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No crossovers! I haven’t even read a lot of crossovers, so that’s completely uncharted territory for me.
11- Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of! (I don’t think I’m high-profile enough for that! LOL)
12- Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven’t!
13- Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No! But that sounds super fun.
14- What's your all-time favorite ship?
Right now, I’m pretty ride-or-die for Kanthony. I’ve loved so many ships throughout my life, though!
15- What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
SO. About two years ago (before I came late to the Bridgerton party), I had watched Poldark and it was so beautiful but also had a lot of heart-wrenching aspects, which sort of matched the dark place I was in mentally, so I started a Poldark fic that was just full of angst and sadness and hurt feelings. I never finished it, but I think about it quite a lot, actually, and how I left those guys hanging. I’d love to finish it just to give them some closure, but I’m not really in that headspace these days (which is a good thing!).
Also, more recently, I had an idea for a Regency-era, canon-compliant Kanthony story that I actually did start (I wrote a prologue and have an outline for the rest of it) but as I’m getting into it, I’m rapidly losing confidence that it’s a good idea…. So I don’t know. It might end up abandoned. It’s Anthony POV and more angsty than my Midnights series. It would be a challenge to write, for sure, and maybe that’s why it makes me nervous!
16- What are your writing strengths?
Oh gosh, that’s so hard to answer. I like to think my writing paints a picture, because I see the characters and settings so vividly in my head. Hopefully that’s true!
17- What are your writing weaknesses?
Well, in a general way, second-guessing myself is the BIGGEST weakness. But I often catching myself writing in what I call “outline form,” where I write like “she did that. Then he said this. Then this happened.” And I have to go back and write in more emotional reactions and physical sensation. Also, I’m intimidated by writing conflict and angst. 😂
18- Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
That’s fascinating, and frankly it’s a really intimidating thought. Language is so complex that using a translator just doesn’t capture the full scope and meaning of words and phrases, does it? So, I feel like I would only go there if I could check with someone who knew the language.
19- First fandom you wrote for?
Oh wow. I guess technically that’s Poldark (see above) but back in high school (before I knew what fanfic was) I wrote out a prose version of scenes from a Broadway musical I was obsessed with because I wanted to explore the inner feelings of one of the characters. Nothing was really original, but I needed to do it in order to understand this character I couldn't stop thinking about. Now, looking back, I realize that was fanfic!
20- Favorite fic you've written?
I have this special place in my heart for “I’m So In Love…” because it’s the first fic I ever finished and the first one I ever shared. It also really captured a moment in time for me personally, so I think that one will always be a fave for me. Tied with it is “Stars by the Pocketful,” which was an idea that I carried in my heart for MONTHS before posting “So In Love” gave me the confidence to write it down. That one felt like it was burning a hole in my imagination for ages and I’m so genuinely happy with the finished product.
I’m tagging these lovely people, but no pressure! ❤️- @mimix007, @harnitbee, @nervousladytraveler, @ninamayawrites, @stars-of-kyber

20 questions for fic writers
no one tagged me i just wanted to do this. idk who came up with it.
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 75
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 641,881
3. What fandoms do you write for? HotD– Daemyra [sometimes + other characters for SPICE], S&B—Darklina
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Significance
Premium
the end of a dance and the beginning of something better
a prince is born
Anything
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I *try* to. But if i’m responding i’m not writing, and if I have comments to respond to, it’s probably because the writing muses have been kind to me, and I would rather take advantage of that while it lasts. And then they pile up and it’s been so long it feels rude to reply? Idk. It’s hard to explain but I do 100% read and love every comment I get and they motivate me SO much!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
All Dragons go to Heaven, by far—it’s my only fic that follows canon events in terms of timeline/character death.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think except for a select few, all my fics have happy endings. ‘Getting Lucky ’ comes to mind because it’s pretty feel good all the way along—’magically meant to be ’ and ‘a princess and a painter’ have happy endings but some angst at the start!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Very rarely—a lot less than I expected tbh, given what I write lol!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Uh. All of it? Like seriously, I’ve done 30+ kink prompts this month alone. I’d say my ‘staples’ are size kink, overstimulation, and unprotected sex. M/M/F threesomes have sort of become a thing with me too. But I’ve done a bit of everything — ABO, M/M, anal, lactation kink, necro, ovi, etc.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I’ve done crossovers in that one story is retold with different characters (cinderalla inspired, hades and persephone inspired, romeo and juliet, etc.) but I’ve never had characters from two different fandoms in one fic.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that i’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that i’m aware of—i’ve given people permission, though, so maybe?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I like to think i’ve INSPIRED a few fics before but that is closest i’ve gotten. I would love to do an event where lots of people contribute to a single story, though.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Writing? Daemyra is my <3 But  I probably read more Darklina fic than any other. Also a Dramione & Zutara girlie.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
All of them? Kidding. Kind of. My writing inspiration and speed is very fickle, I can write 10k words one day and not type a single thing for the following three weeks. So unless something is fully pre-written when I start to post it, I’m not very confident about it ever getting finished.
BUT that being said, I don’t have any fics that I don’t want to finish or plan to abandon. It is just a matter of time/inspiration/motivation.
The one that seems least likely tho is ‘a prince is born’ simply because the established timeline doesn’t really make sense so it basically has to be fully rewritten and right now that sounds very Not Fun compared to literally everything else i’m working on.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hmm, maybe variety? I feel like I’m good at exploring the same characters and relationship dynamics no matter the time period or circumstances. And maybe smut? Idk. I’m a very weak person so this is hard to answer.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ahh this one I can answer: Planning. Structure. Timelines. Consistency. Spelling. Punctuation. Impulsively starting new things and ignoring WIPs.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Not really interested in it. I have enough trouble with english.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
HotD/Daemyra
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I can’t pick because my work is super self indulgent so I like a lot of them for different reasons.
Here are five,
deliciae
Three Heads of the Dragon
gifts from the grave
Consummation

B & Y
B. What was the first fandom you read fic in? Which was the first you wrote fic for?
The answer for both is technically Star Wars, meaning that I didn’t specifically write something that was intended as fanfic until I started writing for Star Wars, and that was shortly after having discovered AO3 and reading Star Wars fanfic there.
But after I’d been writing for a while, I realized that I’d been doing some form of fanfic creation ever since I can remember — making up stories from my favorite shows or characters or situations the whole time I was growing up. I spent HOURS on the swingset in my backyard as a kid, dreaming up scenarios and stories and conversations. I think I just never wrote them as fanfic because I didn’t think I was…allowed to? So I played with the characters but then when writing stories would sort of do the file off the serial numbers thing so that I knew this was a story about Teela from Masters of the Universe having a twin sister who was best friends with a pre-fame Madonna and who adopted the child of her best friend who was killed in some epic battle, but all these characters had different names so it was okay. (As a child I also once came up with a scenario where instead of Jesus, the savior of the world being celebrated at Christmas was a girl named Daisy, and even rewrote Christmas carols to incorporate that, but that AU in the Catholic fandom was pretty much confined to my head and the swingset, because I think even at age 6 or whatever I knew that one wasn’t likely to be well-received outside my head.)
Y. What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories? Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?
It’s such a tough issue, because as much as we’d all like to be so chill about what kind of reception our stories get, and not be overly invested in how many kudos or comments or reblogs we get, and just focus on sharing the stuff we want to create and have that be enough, we WANT someone to like what we did as much (or more!) than we do. And there are so many factors that go into whether someone comments on or reblogs or kudos something.
I’m pretty satisfied with everything I post, at the time I post it. I do notice trends in popularity — my pre-ESB stuff tends to be more popular in general, one-shots get more comments than a new chapter of a multichapter fic (especially a long chapter), anything post-ROTJ tends to be slower to get comments. Smut sometimes gets less attention generally but is more likely to get comments. I think some of the fics I wrote when I was doing a ficlet a week for Scoundress Saturdays were probably more popular than my more recent stuff, but I think I’ve kind of accepted that I might be less prolific in terms of frequent posting, but I really like some of where my newer stuff is taking me. It is weird to get comments on my first story, because that feels so long ago and I feel like my writing has evolved a lot since then, but I’m happy whenever someone has liked what I put out there. Some of my more popular stories are also ones I especially love, but that correlation isn’t always there.
Thank you kindly for the ask!

Annual Writing Self-Evaluation 2022
Thank you @greenblueish and @brightgolden for the tag! I did this last year but I couldn’t find it haha, so if I have repeating answers, oh well! Here we go :)
1. Number of stories posted to AO3 this year: 7 (though it’d technically be more as the a-z series are separate fics)
2. Word count posted for the year: 314,557!
3. Fandoms I wrote for: one direction
4. Pairings: Larry
5. Story with the most:
Kudos: dont know its lost til you find it
Bookmarks: dont know its lost til you find it
Comments: Louis&Harry: A-Z
6. Work I’m most proud of (and why):
a-z for sure. It has, and continues to, push me like crazy to not only write an unfamiliar prompt, but also to write quicker than I usually do. (I say as I haven’t updated it in 6 months lmao)
7. Work I’m least proud of (and why):
honestly, this is something I never thought I’d say, but I’m rather proud of everything I’ve done this year. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so even if I’m happy enough to upload, ill always find something that could’ve been changed, but despite that I feel like I grow more and more every year.
8. Share or describe a favourite review you received:
this is my least favourite question because I love each and every comment I get. I don’t have a specific one to shout-out, but I do have many users I look forward to seeing the comments of. Any comments that mention specific parts or quotes of the fic that they loved are always really lovely to read and make me smile so much.
9. A time when writing was really, really hard:
the last two months have been the hardest this year, which is probably clear by the lack of uploads. I started a new antidepressant in October and it’s taken a toll on me quite heavily physically, and therefore also on the creative side of myself. I’m settling into my dose, though, and have started to write consistently again these last few weeks! Not to mention my mental health is steadily increasing for the first time since I was 12 years old, so I definitely think this’ll be a great positive change for my writing.
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
The alpha drop, probably. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be good, seeing as I couldn’t find anything on any omegaverse forums about alpha drops even being a thing, so I was sort of flying blind. Luckily, it seems to be taken well and in the end I rather liked it.
11. A favourite excerpt of your writing:
This is a hard question, especially since I don’t enjoy rereading my fics, as I tend to only find mistakes, but I’m trying to get better at being proud of myself, so I’m going to cheat a little and say the whole introduction up to the boys meeting in night song is my favourite. Writing an au that isn’t my own makes it even harder to be proud of, especially when the source is something as incredibly well done as studio ghibli, but I truly tried my best to not only capture the essence of the original film, but also make it my own, and I’m quite proud of the fic as a whole.
12. How did you grow as a writer this year:
Reckon I could look back and find a thousand different answers to this question, as I feel like I grow as a writer every few months, haha, but probably the biggest growth has been letting go of word count expectations. I used to be quite hard on myself about it, and would have a silly “minimum of 20k or nothing” rule for myself. Though I know I still have a ways to go in terms of writing self-love, allowing myself to write until it feels good, rather than when I’ve reached the “minimum” acceptable word count, has been an incredible weight off my shoulders. Writing shouldn’t be stressing me out, and it took me a long time to realise that, but I’m glad I have.
13. How do you hope to grow next year:
I hope to learn new writing patterns. I feel like there are a handful of parallels in all of my fics, and I’d like to move onto more varying ways of writing.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
Unsure if this counts, and I’m 90% sure this was my answer last year as well, but it’ll definitely have to be music, usually classical or instrumentals. I listen to it every single time I write, and it is my biggest motivator.
15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
I’ll be home tonight, definitely. I feel like there’s a bit of me in every fic I write, but that one was the most this year.
16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
Don’t give up a scene even if you think it’s shit. Finish it out, and move on to the next one. You can always go back and fix it later. Keeping the flow of non-block is much more important.
17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
I’m really hoping to finish a-z before 2023 is up, especially because I have another long series planned that I refuse to start before a-z is finished, as I’d hate to lose motivation for it.
18. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read.
I feel like everyone’s done this already, so I tag anyone who’s read this and wants to do it :)

Charlotte, my dear friend!! No need to apologize whatsoever!! I'm so glad to hear from you whenever I do, no matter how much time it's been. If anything, I think I owe you an apology for not letting you know sooner that I loved the Halloween brackets polls you were doing on @historical-fashion-polls!! I've been quietly following and participating in all the different polls because I have a bit of a passing interest in historical fashion. And I can confidently say that your blog has increased that interest tenfold. It just makes me so happy for you when I see your posts and the sort of discussions you create through them. Your blogs are the kind that make me go yes!! this is what I joined tumblr.com for!! so massive kudos on everything you put into that blog because I cannot imagine the work that goes into maintaining such a wonderful little space!!
Putting election talk under the cut since this reply is already getting long and just in case folks don't wanna hear my thoughts!!
Fun fact: I almost didn't publish that post to begin with! Sometimes I'll have a little thought and I'll start to draft up a tumblr post about it before telling myself, "no one wants to hear what you think <3" and then inevitably deleting it.
But that one felt important to publish. My younger brother was expressing some of his anxieties to me the other day. And I relate to him entirely because I was in the exact same position as him in 2016. I was that queer teenager going to a high school comprised of a mostly conservative staff and mostly conservative classmates who were parroting their parents beliefs. It was a terrifying time. It still is now.
And I figured now that I'm older, I'm going to try to be the encouraging, loving, and optimistic adult I needed back then. Because, yes, there are plenty of folks going out and voting for regression. But there are so many more people deliberately choosing the exact opposite. There are so many people this time around who are planting their feet firmly in the ground and are ready to do what they need to push us forward. And I have to hold onto the glimmering hope in that reluctance to succumb to the ever present ignorance and decay in this country. That is the indomitable human spirit. And I believe in that more than anything else.
Anyhoo. I'm glad that my little vent offered any sort of comfort at all. We've all gotta stick together, especially in times like these. Thank you for the little check-in, Charlotte. Please, please, please take care of yourself. Sending you lots of hugs and your favorite homemade baked goods for the holiday season!! 💛
