Summary: One plus one equals two. Double it and it equals four. A simple equation, but apply it to people? It becomes complicated…

Let’s try this again. Shinichi plus Conan equals two Kudo brothers. Then there’s also Shiho plus Ai, the Miyano sisters, so a total of four. Simple right?

Wrong. When the Kudos and Miyanos are involved, there is no such thing as simple.

Yuji

This baby might not be sure what’s going on at first.

He just casually walks up to you and the the guy who’s trying to hit on you

Meet up at the station. It was an easy task, so he got there quite quickly and on time. How was he to know that you were there 15 minutes earlier in fear of being late? As soon as Yuji stepped out of the railings he saw your familiar coloured hair and jogs up to you, paying no mind to the fact that an unfamiliar guy was talking you up.

“Y/N?” he calls out as he stops next to you, then blinks at the guy. “Who’s this? You brought a friend over?” You sigh a little at your clueless boyfriend. “N-No, Yuji, why would I bring a friend over...We’re having a date, aren’t we?” You’re so dumbfounded by Yuji that you forget all about the guy who’d been asking for your number moments ago. 

Yuji halts his thinking and laughs, scratching the back of his head. “Oh yea! That’s right,” 

Meanwhile the other guy is just staring up at your boyfriend. ‘Who is this weird bastard? It’s like he’s in his own world or something. Well, anyway...’

The guy maneuvers his hand and it springs up to latch onto your wrist, but it’s almost instantly slapped away by Yuji, and suddenly there’s an intense staring contest going on between the two. You stiffen up and look back and forth between them until...Yuji starts laughing. “Ahhh? I don’t know why I did that,” 

Figures.

But in the next moment, your eyes widen at Yuji’s words. “But hey, I don’t like it when other guys touch her, so, hands off, yeah?” He still says it with a smile, but, that was probably the first time you realized that Yuji Itadori has an amazingly cool side too.

Megumi

This guy has probably practiced the ‘my girlfriend is getting hit on’ scenario quite a few times.

So obviously he’s pretty calm about the situation

.......................calmly terrifying.

“...Ah, no, I’m waiting for someone,”

“Hm? But they’re not here yet right? There’s no harm, just 10 minutes, I’ll drop you off back here,”

Megumi is standing a feet away and watching the scene unfold in front of him. He’s got his hands in his pockets and that blank look on his face. He analyzes the situation as if he was handling a cursed spirit. 

‘Y/N is clearly uncomfortable, she also clearly said no, more than once. So this guy is just being a jerk on purpose,’

What probably snaps him out of his musing and causes him to move forward is when your voice breaks and turns meek. “I-I don’t want to,” 

He’s there by your side in seconds, wedged in between you and the other person. The blank look in his eyes seem firmer and heavier, directed at the other man. “...Well, you heard her, right?” and there’s an intense aura hanging off of him. “She said, she doesn’t want to,”

The guy is rooted on the spot at the sudden heavy atmosphere, and steps back. There’s clearly some kind of murderous intent coming off of Megumi. In a second, the man turns back and walks away, rather stiffly.

You blink at the sudden change of events, but finally sigh out in relief. “Thanks, Megumi,” He turns and gives you a once over silently, as if assessing if you were hurt. Then grabs your hand and just pulls you along with him to your next destination. Like it never even happened.

Gojo

You won’t be sure if he’s trying to help you or making things worse.

Low key looks like he’s having fun messing with the person talking you up

“Ah well, it can’t be helped. My princess is pretty cute after all!” he was late and was still walking leisurely, even when he saw that there’s an ordinary guy that was talking to you, and you were clearly trying not to entertain the stranger. 

He passed by some dango shop to get you a box and then...well, he got carried away a little and lost track of time. He leisurely stands next to you as the guy continues talking, but suddenly stops when Gojo arrives. Gojo has his blindfold on, so the guy doesn’t know what to make of the situation.

You also just look up at the sudden arrival of your boyfriend. “Eh? What happened? Did I interrupt the conversation?” You hold back a sigh. You’ve seen this act before and you just stand still for the ride. “Go on, you were asking her for her number right?” The other man doesn’t know what to say about this weird situation with a blindfolded guy. 

“Y/N-chan, are you gunna give him your number or not? If not, then...” you stay silent because you know that his whole act is not finished. Gojo Satoru takes out a piece of folded paper from his pocket and hands it to the guy. “I’ll do it for you, here’s her number mister, have fun!” and then pulls you away by the waist, starting your long journey at the shopping district.

That man would later open the folded piece of paper and look at the sloppy drawing. A cute, smiling, chibi Gojo with a speech bubble that said “In your dreams :D” 

Back with the two of you, you look up to your white-haired knight and ask. “...Seriously how many of those papers do you have ready...?” He doesn’t answer you and just chuckles mischievously.

FRUITS BASKET S3 EPISODE 1 + 2 RECAP!

Yayyy! Season 3! Finally! I’m hoping this season will make me understand/sympathise with Akito and maybe even Shigure a little bit more because... honestly? My opinions on episode 2?... I might get some flack for my opinions on them...  😬

But, first: I’d like to appreciate how on the Funimation app we got a little interview/message from a few of the english dub VAs! Specifically Colleen Clinkenbeard, Jerry Jewell, Eric Vale, Ian Sinclair and Brina Palencia (Akito, Kyo, Yuki, Kureno and Isuzu). And it was nice seeing some of their opinions of the characters they play and how much they’re emotionally invested in the story. (Ian’s such a nerd ‘I wanna see giant mechs later this season’ 😂 - I lowkey stan him lol)

ANYWAYS, let’s get into it...

EPISODE 1

I really love this depiction of the original zodiac and how you can just tell from the tone of the scene how desperately the God of the Zodiac was clinging on to these connections that they had with the participants in the banquet. How much they clung on to and loved the cat... Also, interesting how Tohru’s narrating this scene... almost like she can relate to the desperation of wanting to keep things the same... but we’ll get to that later. But also, Tohru is a God

This new opening is beautiful, I love the way that camera moves around the still illustrations and how the general tone just hammers down that... this season is gonna be some real shit lol (which makes me nervous for the opening for the second half 😳). It’s so warped and the general blue, grey and black tone that follows around every Akito scene we get in the anime has bled into every scene in this opening concerning the rest of the zodiac. Almost... like something is decaying. It’s great, it’s just very sad lol. I love the song tho, issa bop.

One of my favourite things in stories is when we get a bigger villain than the ‘pronounced’ villain of the story. Ren’s introduction through a manicured outstretched hand towards Kureno and Hatori is so weirdly gross in what it insinuates (especially when you apply her connection with Shigure) but again... I wanna know why she’s such an asshole to Akito specifically besides the bad mental health management within the Sohma compound. I have an inkling of what it is through memory of the manga, but like Akito and Shigure... I just wanna understand why.

Also, Ren is gorgeous and I’m sorry for simping. 

I mean... she’s kinda got a point? She just didn’t need to be so mean about it lol. It’s pretty clear that the connection the zodiac have to each other is real and something they cannot control. BUT, wouldn’t it be easier if this connection wasn’t perpetuated by outer circles of the family and if Akito herself wasn’t so cruel about it? But, I guess Akito - through her relationship with her mother - kinda doesn’t know how to genuinely show love and affection. (Which brings me into my thoughts of how the manga ends and how I kinda... have a few problems with it which I will get to... when that comes lol)

Lol - weeeeeeeee! (flashes back to Tohru being yeeted into the river). Is this a part of Akito’s god-like powers?!

Again. She’s got a point! They’ve both got a point. But, they’re both the source of the problem. It’s really painful to see two mentally ill people duke it out. This whole institution is just rotten.

- I am super curious about what Akira’s relationship was like with the zodiac and if it was just as dark. I’m gonna assume it slightly already was, as the exclusion and degradation of the cat curse is already dark in itself but maybe the rest of the zodiac were just fine with how things were? I dunno if we actually will get the full backstory of Akira and his zodiac but I’m definitely intrigued

Ok, but if four crying children came up to me after I’d just consummated with my partner to reach out at my stomach chanting ‘we’ve been waiting for you’. That would disturb me and scar me for a while too so... 😂. I know it’s supposed to be ethereal and spiritual but... dude, wtf lol

...I don’t like how much I’m into Ren being such a Villain™  😅

- Akito being seen as a crying child by the older zodiac members has always been interesting to me because yes, they could see her as that through mainly the age gap, general empathy and the way she sometimes irrationally acts out. But, also the depiction of Gods being seen as children having tantrums has being reflected in many different beliefs and myths (especially Greek Mythology) and I just like the fact that this all powerful, all knowing being would be compared to a child. It gives you a different perspective on power.

- Is the paper note in the CD case that Kureno gave back to Tohru an extra addition or was it always there?...

Mannnn... I really wanted Isuzu to fuck shit up after seeing Tohru so upset but... *le sigh* (outfit’s still on point)

But, I’m so glad we get an equal Ethereal Goddess to save Tohru! HANAJIMA! We love her, we stan her. <3

- ‘Tohru will be in my custody’ 🤣 I personally think Hana’s bluntness was a kindness in her conversation with Yuki because if I found Tohru upset? I’d automatically start firing metaphorical shots at everyone in that house

- Shigure fearing Hana makes me sleep better at night <3

Hana’s just like ‘hmm... sounds like someone I know... 👀’ I’m here for this parallel between Tohru and Kureno in the hopes that Tohru doesn’t ever get in as bad a situation as Kureno. Ahhh... Kureno... (Also, Laura Bailey was killing it in this scene as always)

- Hmmm... there’s something terribly poetic about Kyo saving Tohru’s scarf from oncoming traffic... but also, Kyo can’t help himself aha

KWEEEN! I love this look for Uo, it’s very Kyoko. I already said this in Season 1 but I STILL need to get wool-lined jacket. Outfit Appreciation goes to her - 3.5 stars.

<3<3<3 Friendship is magic!

- Megumi is such a good egg as always! From him going to get Uo to him being so wise with his outlook on love and how it takes time to really flourish. The best!

- This whole episode ends really nicely from Tohru’s return home and Kyo washing and returning Tohru’s scarf and Yuki being happy to see Tohru and Shigure being somewhat decent. It was nice to get a bit of relief after the tornado of emotions

Also, this was a nice screencap! Even Kyo is smiling!!! :))))

EPISODE 2

This scene really highlighted how Tohru is starting to see Shigure and the whole zodiac curse in a new and darker way. For the first time, it felt like Tohru was a little bit more guarded around Shigure and I hope they delve more into this season. Her description of her feeling around the curse being like a ‘dark well with no bottom in sight’ is pretty spot on. Ugh.

Aw! Is this the last we’re getting of Small!Momiji?! I love them :3 (Momiji’s shorts look a little shorter too, like he’s growing out of them ahaha)

- I haven’t found the Yuki fan club funny since their first scene in the anime but their poor disguises made me chuckle

- Yayyy! Kyo has an obsessive fan club too? ...Yay?? 😅 haha

- ‘I won’t kill them but they can go to hell’ why is Kyo speaking like me?! 😂

The fact that we got a scene of Yuki kinda admirably looking at a group of friends (boys and girls) playfully physically interacting and he unconsciously reaches out to Machi almost like he forgot about the curse? Heart eyes... 🥰

Again. Relatable. 😂 God, Yuki. You really are an airhead. Bless your soul. <3

And that look says it all. Damn. Kyo’s sense of hopelessness is heartbreaking but I still stand by it being understandable considering his circumstances.

Kyo freaking out about Tohru being visually upset was super cute but I couldn’t even appreciate the fluff because the whole scene had such a morbid tone to it, despite it being so visually romantic:

KYO’S FACE!!! 💔 Ahhh, my emotions!!!! Also, that shot from Tohru’s perspective under her bangs is great.

- Poor Mitsuru, I’d ask for extra pay just for dealing with Shigure’s ass.

Hahah - what a great metaphor!

- Now that Shigure’s ‘true form’, so to speak, has been fully exposed all his comments that are supposed to be teasing come off so much more awful. Him insinuating Mitsuru wasn’t ‘upper class’ enough for Ritsu was awful

COLLLDDDD. AS. IIIIIIICE. But seriously, Shigure this whole episode was cold in many different ways but I definitely felt this personally since I’ve been told something like this by a family member before... 😕 Also, it’s just gross how both Shigure and Akito are taking their own personal issues and mistrust of each other out on to other people. The curse and the institution behind the curse complicates a lot of feelings for sure, but there’s a difference between wrong and right and I get the general feeling that they both are just using the muddy waters to their advantage. Although, I feel like Shigure is taking more advantage of this than Akito but I’ll get into that in a bit.

- There’s also something about this episode that made me sympathise a lot more with Kureno in a more understandable way. But, it also makes me question the ending of this whole story and the resolutions that happen and what life for the whole Sohma institution/family looks like after the curse has broken.. I guess, I should read ‘Fruits Basket Another’ after this, huh?

😳... Shigure is so petty, man. Really?!

So...

I hate this relationship. I’m sorry. I know there are loads of people who like this relationship. And I’m still giving myself space for the show and the story to convince me why it’s worth it. But... I really don’t like this relationship. It’s so toxic. In so many ways. And in a weird way, this scene made me feel a LITTLE bit more for Akito than Shigure. It feels like Shigure gaslights everyone in his life but none no more than Akito, herself. I hate the fact that he keeps saying he loves her while hurting her or disregarding her. You know, almost like he’s treating her like a child. But on the other hand, I hate the fact that Akito has lowkey gaslighted herself into thinking she can treat people however she wants because she is ‘God’. I understand this is part of the way she was brought up and it seems like life in the Sohma compound has been very isolating for her so there’s been no one really to show her better (or have the confidence to show her better). But, at least I can be a little bit more sympathetic on her side than Shigure’s. I dunno... it’s just all very ugly and toxic and I’m hoping that it’ll turn around somehow.

I just hope it’s not one of those relationships that are ‘so good cos it’s so bad’.

...I’ll briefly talk about the ending theme to end this on a good note lol:

I really like this ending! I dunno if they’re gonna have two endings and two openings for this season but this ending definitely feels like it should’ve gone in the second half as it’s almost spoiler-y? But, then again what anime opening and ending isn’t packed with spoilers lol

All the illustrations are gorgeous, I’m assuming they were drawn by Takaya-sensei herself as it seems very much in her current style of artistry but my favourite illustrations are definitely the ones shown above! <3

“why do you keep doing this to me gray” olivia cried putting all her books on the bedside table. grayson sat at the end of the unmade bed, they had both just slept in. he had his head in his hands, his face flushed.

“you ruined everything for me” grayson yelled startling olivia. she looked around her room, pouting to herself. “i didn’t know you were married, grayson. and i know i should’ve stopped it when i found out, i’m sorry for that. but i love you. i am in love with you.” olivia sobbed getting off the bed. “you don’t love me, though. you just loved the idea of sneaking around. the adrenaline. and now that’s it’s all over, you need someone to blame. and obviously that’s me” olivia said gritting her teeth, pulling his jumper off.

“i am so tired of this. of feeling so worthless. i want you gone, grayson.” olivia said throwing the jumper at his head. grayson looked up in surprise, his mouth open, but just couldn’t seem to find the words - too shocked, too guilty.

“you’ve lost your family, your wife, your boys. all because of you. not me. you.” olivia yelled standing her ground. god, she loved grayson so much. possible more than herself - she would die for him. perhaps that’s another reason why their relationship is so messed up.

if grayson was single at the time they’d met, there wouldn’t be any problems. but olivia was naive, innocent too. If you asked any one of her friends, they’d tell you she’s the smart, innocent one of the group. well, now she’s a home wrecker, and it’s all her fault apparently. olivia knew she had a part in this, and she feels so much guilt - she will live with it for the rest of her life, but what grayson did, blame her for all his mistakes, when things went wrong, isn’t what she’s about.

“i want you out of my apartment” she whispered, drying her tears from her pink cheeks. “and i don’t want to see you in here again” she finished looking grayson straight in the eye.

grayson was still in shock - he had lost 4 of the most important people in his life in about the span of a week. it took him seven days, to ruin his whole life, world.

“so you’re dumping me?” he asked standing up, olivia shrugged crossing her arms over her chest. “i’m breaking whatever this was, off. so yeah, i’m dumping you grayson” she sighed and grayson scoffed taking his jumper off the bed and putting it over him. he walked over to the shoe rack and put on his vans. “fine. but don’t bother calling me, when you decided you need me again. it wouldn’t be the first time you’ve tried to break this off, is it olivia?” grayson taunted stepping closer to her.

“fuck off” she gritted pushing his chest. grayson rolled his eyes walking to the door. “remember what i said. don’t come crawling back, honey”

“What are you watching, baby” julie asked alexander placing a hand on his head. he looked up from his ipad and grinned - julie smiled right back, he looked so much like his dad. his smile, his eyes. it was almost painful to look at him sometimes. which makes julie seem so bad, sometimes makes her feel like a bad mother. but she hurt so much, and sometimes seeing the boys laugh made her hurt so much more.

“watching peppa, mama” alexander replied pulling his mama down to sit with him. “peppa make me so happy.” he giggled, julie just shook her head, kissing his temple in response. At least she wouldn’t be stuck for birthday presents for the next couple years. alexander got super obsessed with things - like first it was sofia the first and now it’s peppa. he’s a simple boy, julie thought.

“mamas gonna go check on seb, i’ll be back in a couple minutes ok?” julie said pressing a couple of kisses to his head. she walked out of the living room and into the kitchen to see sebastian cleaning the counters, julie pouted at how cute he was. he definitely got his height from her side of the family - because he could barely reach the top of the counters, but he still made the effort and that’s what counts. “what are you doing, buddy?” julie asked leaning against the wall. sebastian shrugged “just cleaning up for you, mommy” he said groaning when he couldn’t get to the spot he wanted.

julie laughed and walked over to sebastian picking him, making him squeal. “what’s going on in here” a voice called out, laughing at the sight.

“uncle ethan!” the boy in her arms yelled making his way out of julie’s grip, and running over to his uncle. ethan laughed picking sebastian up and spinning him around in his arms. “ahhh, you’ve gotten so heavy” ethan said teasing sebastian. sebastian just giggled, in response.

“go upstairs and watch some peppa with alexander. need to talk to mama for a bit” ethan whispered making sebastian nod, and run upstairs.

“i’m taking this as divorce talk?” julie asked sighing, ethan looked at her with sympathetic eyes. she pulled out a chair from the island, placing a hand on her head. “the boys look good” ethan said sitting down beside her. “yeah. i’m trying to keep them distracted before school starts up again” julie replied her fingers getting stuck in her curly hair. “i just don’t know how longer i can keep this from them. i mean alexander had the biggest meltdown the other day, he knows something is up” julie sighed again, she felt like a failure sometimes. her mask was breaking, and she couldn’t figure out how to fix it.

“graysons agreed right?” julie nodded “you’ve got good lawyers, good job. you could even move in with me for a bit” ethan said grabbing her free hand “everything’s gonna work out, ok? i’m here and the boys are good kids, we’ll figure out the challenges when we get to them” ethan smiled, julie didn’t know what she would do without him - probably still be with a cheating husband.

“one step at a time”

“one step at a time” julie repeated nodding her head. “how was the other day, with gray?” ethan asked moving up to grab them both some water - they had both had enough wine for years. “he was super emotional, i could tell. um, i was too. but it was good. at then i just had to mention that bitch, and all hell broke lose” julie laughed to herself, ethan pouted turning around to lean against the sink. “was it really bad?” he asked and julie shrugged “i mean it could’ve been worse” she started itching her scalp.

“we weren’t screaming. it was calm and quiet - i think that’s why it stuck with me the most” julie said taking a sip from the water ethan placed in front of her. “i’m a good mom, right?” she asked making ethans heart break.

ethan had never met someone like julie before - she was cheated on, lied to, manipulated and still went on like her life was the best. Like she had to won a million dollars. He hated how everytime someone did something bad to her, she would find away to blame it on herself. sometimes it’s little things, like say it was her fault when someone else spilled her tea everywhere. and sometimes it’s big, blaming herself for her cheating husbands actions.

“julie, you’re the best mother ever.” ethan said making julie roll her eyes. “no! seriously. you care so much about those boys. you put up with so much shit, because you wanted them happy. look at how good those kids turned out, jules. they’re gentleman. they’re smart and kind. and that’s all because of you.” ethan said finishing his rant. julie looked up at him biting her lip, she looked up the his eyes and down at his lips.

ethan moved foward, doing the same thing.

next thing you know ethans placed his lips on hers, and the drinks of water were long forgotten about.

Recappin’ Riverdale, 1x09: La Grande Illusion

Can we talk about Cheryl for a moment. Cheryl, who has had ZERO examples of what healthy interaction should look like. Cheryl, who is regularly abused, something the other people that she would view as closest to her know full well. Cheryl, who is just screaming out for love and acceptance despite no knowledge of how to ask for it in a healthy way. Cheryl, who wouldn’t know a genuine connection if it slapped her in the face, because that’s always been denied to her. When she does something crazy, or bitchy, or rude, it should be made immediately clear that it’s because money and a lack of affection were how love was shown in her life, without fail. 

- I beg them to stop using French words, Riverdale. Like I get that this is probably a movie reference, but in day to day life people don’t just pepper in French words

- I feel like maple syrup is definitely NOT more precious than oil, Jug

- Oh, Val still exists!

- “We consumed Blossom syrup by the bucket” that doesn’t sound healthy. Look, I’m Canadian. A hallmark Canadian field trip is tapping a maple tree at a syrup farm but even we aren’t this obsessive....

- Why is everyone in miniskirts when it’s snowing? My sympathies to Madelaine and Nathalie

- Ahhh it’s the family members from S4

- Ahhh cute bughead scenes. Always appreciated

- Okay, I genuinely think Madchen Amick is a good actress. But what she’s doing here is just....not it. 

- What if the lawyers ask about what your father did to land in prison? That seems pretty likely, Veronica. Like, not even something worthy of “what if”

- Yeah, you made your bed, Hermoine. Don’t expect me to feel bad for you. 

- God, can we just take a minute to appreciate Madelaine Petsch. She takes RIDICULOUS dialogue and VERY uneven characterization, and does her darndest to spin it into an actual person. 

- I feel like I keep saying this but IF TEACHERS OR STUDENTS HEAR VERY CONCERNING STATEMENTS FROM MINORS THERE ARE PEOPLE TO CALL

- Teachers are mandated reporters and, hey, Riverdale, ABUSE IS NOT TO BE JOKED WITH

- Seriously, I have gone through training on how to call Child Services like 6 times, for the tiniest things. ETHEL’S POEM WAS A GLARING RED FLAG. 

-  Veronica is, consistently, the only person who seems to care that her friends are in crisis. Legitimately the only one who seems to notice. 

- Again, go Nathalie Boltt. By all the cast’s indications, she’s just a super person who plays a very bad character. 

- “When Jason died I thought I’d tapped my last tree” ok

- Look I wouldn’t say I was the most sheltered child, but even now, my parents don’t talk to me about their finances. Why are all these kids responsible for solving their parent’s problems?

- Thank god for Veronica finally seeing the light. I mean, it never lasts, but...

- Cheryl has literally never had anyone defend her. She WOULD see that as love, because her standards for love are so low

- “Also 4.0″ adorable. 

- Again, I feel like I shouldn’t complain about the multiple storylines, because god knows that didn’t last. But god, there are so many I didn’t care about. 

- Money and extravagance are how Blossoms show interest, again. 

- I adore Fred’s reaction to Cheryl. Contrast it against how upset she was when he died. 

- Ah, so great to be AGAIN making your marital problems your children’s problems. So great. 

-  As always, Jughead is Betty’s safe space, and he always seems to know what to say. Again, were this a better show, maybe you could even thread together Betty seeing a parallel between her parents and her relationship with Jughead. Right now, especially in their respective newspaper offices, they’re on pretty similar footing, but are markedly different. 

- I adore the B and V scenes here, and how Betty is so caring always to Veronica, who is always so caring to othrs. 

- Again, Betty should not have to be comforting her mother. THAT ISN’T HER JOB. 

- “Their legacy” legacy, what is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to to see

So...I’m obsessed with NEVER HAVE I EVER now and I’m not mad

Hey it’s Dana and I’m procrastinating my school work (because even the lockdown can’t stop my teachers from giving me work - how great!) so I’ve decided to watch a bit of the new Netlfix series NEVER HAVE I EVER which (after a google search) I found out is created by Mindy Kaling!

(However, by the time this post goes up I’ll probably still be procrastinating but for a whole different set of school work! Yay for me, I guess!)

I actually really have no idea what it’s about except for the fact that the title is a game I used to play with my friends to find out some gossip about their love life and vice versa which was often uninteresting because we never really had much to say. In conclusion, American High School romances have lied to me all my life about games like Truth or Dare and Never Have I Ever (it’s either that or me and the people around me have just lived fairly uninteresting lives...sounds plausible).

Anyway, read on to read about me reacting to NEVER HAVE I EVER the series for the first time!

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how pretty Devi is; her hair is goals; orange is her colour; she has such a cute smile; she is thriving! 

Also, I do love the religious diversity and the Indian representation.

Hahaha! Okay this first scene is quite funny and the arm hair thing is so relatable if you have dark hair; I envy people with lighter hair!

But, what is it with people and always wanting to be invited to parties??? They’re seriously not that fun and I often leave with a headache and an empty stomach. At first, they are quite entertaining but after a while (when you’ve told every single story about what you did in your summer holiday and stuff about your dog) you’ve run out of things to say and just awkwardly stand there until someone - and there is always someone - finally mentions school and now you’re that group of people talking about school because there’s nothing better to talk about. Or maybe that’s just my experiences with parties - I don’t know (I haven’t been to many lol).

Hey, that’s Mona from DC’s Legends of Tommorrow!!!! Omg! is this why she left the show???

Ahhh and Devi is not only a Hindu and an Indian-American but she is also a wheelchair user - Mindy is out there just trying to give everyone all the representation we need!

Oh - so she managed to walk again after trying to see a hot boy’s chiseled jawline behind a car? Hmmmm...seems plausible.

I’m also getting a really 80s vibe that seem quite common in Netflix movies and tv shows (like Sierra Burgess Is A Loser) but I know it’s meant to be in the 21st century.

Lol I’ve never heard that before but it made me choke on my food. Imagine people bullying you and calling you the UN - the political slander, the international slander. Omg I love this show so much.

I don’t really thinkl Devi should care if Ben thinks she’s unbangable because she is only 15 so she doesn’t exactly need to have banging as her number one priority.

Yassssssss strut queen!

The heels things is extremely relatable; I’m already a clutz while walking in flats but when I put on heels I’m falling all over everywhere (you should’ve seen me dance at my Year 11 Prom lol). Devi is wearing really high heels - I seriously could never so good for her!

So Paxton just says yes to having sex with her? What? Is this how it works? Is it that easy? 

I’m so confused.

So I’m thinking that maybe there’s something more to Paxton than meets the eye. Maybe he’s a shamed virgin (which isn’t really as much of a problem as Hollywood tries to convince us) or maybe he might do a 360 and publicly shame Devi.

What I know, is that Paxton might end up having feelings for Devi after this (because this is how romance works, guys). Also, Devi might back out of having sex with Paxton.

So we’re onto episode 2 which is titled “...had sex with Paxton Hall-Yoshida”, making the title make more sense to me now.

Devi is casually just reading After which coincidently is also on Netflix (marketing strategies?).

*Love is in the air* (I was waiting for LGBTQ+ representations and I know this may cause some conflict with Devi’s plan for them all to get boyfriends butttttt in the long run, once Fab comes out to the gals they’re all going to accept her - at least I hope).

That blonde girl is too cute with her pixie hair cut omg I already love her so much and I haven’t even heard her talk.

This is the only love at first sight that I accept (this and The Half Of It, of course).

(Also the blonde’s eyebrows are beautiful; I want them so much).

This is the guy from Supergirl who played Lena’s old scientist boyfriend (and ruined all our lesbian Lena backstory but I did like him as a guy).

I like how Devi’s PTSD over her dad’s death is really being explored slowly.

Also, I knew that Devi would back out of having sex with Paxton and why does she always get cuts on her on her legs? is this symbolism? to do with her leg? and her mental state? am I reading too far into this?

Let Kamala be the beautiful biologists she deserves to be without an arranged marriage with a man whose family just wants her to be a wife.

We also shouldn’t forget how Devi’s mother’s feeling after her husband’s death. She may seem so strong on the outside but we all know she’s breaking on the inside and I hope that her and Devi can have a heart-to-heart about that.

Personally I think the blue ones...

Awww I think Paxton’s sister (Rebecca) and Devi are going to become good friends and I’m excited to watch it happen ahhhhh!

I’m thinking that Ben and Devi are going to become friends which would be quite sweet considering their rivalry.

Ohhhhhh Kamala has an asian boyfriend??? I’m officially attached; we need to end this arrnaged marriage; she needs to be with her boyfriend.

Awwwwww this is beautiful. I love Devi’s mum so much, she deserves love and attention.

Okay so we’ve now met a more human side to Paxton with him explaining that he’s been quite protective of his sister ever since she was adopted. And they’re not going to have sex (even though Devi told her friends that they did have sex) which is really going to cause major conflict.

Anyway, I should probably actually do some work now so bye!

MAJOR EDIT: So it turns out that I did work for about half an hour then decided to watch the rest of the season without reviewing as I go (because I was even lazy to do that lol). I did not think that I would actually finish the whole season in one go; I thought that I would just watch the first couple of episodes until it felt too awkward to watch the rest. Nevertheless, I watched the rest of the the season and I already want a new season to come out so badly!

Firstly, let’s deal with Paxton. 

So I thought that Paxton would make a massive U-turn and start being less of a douche (as his sister Rebecca - who is just so deadpan with him that I just love her more and more - puts it) and more of a sweetheart who has some type of depth to him. Yes, he does seem to have depth in the way that he’s not just some hot guy on the swim team who’s always mean to everyone because he is usually nice and doesn’t forwardly go out of his way to bully anyone (and I also give points for the fact that he is half asian and not a nerd because we need our dumb asians to replace London Tipton in our hearts). 

The problem is that I’m just confused about him. Why does he always come to Devi’s aid whenever she’s in trouble? What is his purpose? Why does he turn up at her doorstep when she doesn’t answer his text messages? 

I’m particularly confused (and also extremely worried) about that last question because it’s just weird and uneccessary to turn up to someone’s house when they don’t answer your messages. Maybe I would have let him off if he did it once but this guy does it soooooo many times that it’s started to become a bit creepy. Like chill. Seriously. Not everyone is constantly on their phone to text you back instantly and sometimes I’ve even not answered for a couple of days but you don’t exactly see anyone knocking at my door like “hey, Dana, answer my texts - I wanted to know what fucking ice cream you like”.

Basically, it’s just creepy and I feel as though they’re trying to use that to use that as him essentially developing feelings for her but now he needs to lay off because Devi’s got her eyes on Ben now.

Okay so Ben is what I’m excited for now. The next season will most likely focus on their love triangle and maybe devlop Paxton more to possibly make us really confused on who Devi should choose. Personally, I think she should choose Ben at the end of the day. 

Ben started off as Devi’s nemesis and I never really paaid much attention to him at the start because I thought he would just be there for a bit of comedy and to push Devi out of her comfort zone. It turns out that he has pushed Devi out of her comfort zone, in a different way of course (but when they kissed and the camera started panning down I thought they they were actually going to start having sex and I was like omg, whoa, I shouldn’t be watching this but also it would kinda be fulfilling to see Devi choose to have sex with this guy who actually wants her and actually likes her in that moment, fully forgetting about Paxton - it was actually just panning down to another call from Paxton).

I did see a glimmer of something between them but I thought it was just going to be a friendship to add to her group but I’m not mad at how it actually ended.

I feel as though we as the audience will route for Ben more because of that episode that completely centered him, which showed us just exactly how hard Ben’s life is. It was this episode and the Model UN episode that made me think that they might make this a thing (and there was also the fact that he tried to kiss her twice at his house).

It’s also an added bonus that Devi’s mum thinks so highly of Ben because it means she probably won’t have to hide him from her. While, yes, dating a guy who your mother doesn’t like (such as Paxton) is a symbol of rebellion and thriving outside of your family’s hold sometimes it’s not the right option if they turn you into someone completely different. Ben and Devi have this relationship in which she can be her complete self around him and not have to hold anything back or do anything in order to please him. They challenge each other, trust each other (especially with Ben driving her all the way to Malibu and STAYING), and understand each other to a level that Paxton just can’t seem to relate to.

Kamala’s breakup with Steve seemed really out of the blue with her really trying to stay away from an arranged marriage, to plain falling for the guy on the other end of the arranged marriage. Although she did say that she doesn’t want to marry yet I’m still really confused on why she dumped Steve but told Prashant that she likes him. I feel as though it would’ve made a bigger impact if she told both guys she didn’t want them and wants to focus on her aspiring career as a biologist.

I say that but I do see the sparks between Prashant and Kamala with them having a lot of things in common.

I want to end this fairly long review of the entire season 1 of NEVER HAVE I EVER talking about this girl right here, an absolute legend, a queen, the girl who wear a white suit to a sleazy high school party: Fabiola.

This girl is such an icon and her gay panic after summoning (yes, summoning) her whole family to tell them she’s gay (only to end up telling them she switched from AP French to AP Latin) made me both laugh so hard and feel so much pain for her.

When she finally told her mum that she was gay, I panicked. I had to mentally prepare myself to watch this woman shout, cry, question - even disapprove - of her daughter. Instead, what we got was a mother who accepted her daughter and told her that she’s only ever wanted to make her happy. It just made me realise that all that time her mother spent trying to get into her daughter’s love life (after thinking she had a boyfriend) was her version of trying to bond with her daughter and understand her and basically just be a mother.

Well, you know what, she is doing a great job as a mother and I’m so happy for Fab because I know when her mother finds out about Eve (if she hasn’t already) she is going to try and get all the gossip from her daughter and try so hard to take her shopping for clothes that’ll make her look good for dates with Eve (and I am thriving for this).

Her mother’s approach almost reminds me of the mother from Ackley Bridge (if anyone knows that show) who tried to get to know what being a lesbian really is like for a girl by going to one of the most gay areas in the UK. That was just an iconic moment and if you haven’t seen Ackley Bridge go watch that because it’s really good (at first though, after a while it gets a bit trash and you’ll understand).

I hope that season 2 comes quick (but it may not be for a while) and fingers crossed Ben and Devi are endgame, Kamala sorts out what she wants in life, Eleanor finally has a stern talk with her mum, and Fab and Eve finally become official (unless they are already) and we see a story more focused on them.

A blonde-haired girl was waving her arms violently calling over her best friend, who was on the other side of the gym talking to her boyfriends. "LuLu!" The small girl waved back, the boy she was talking to had walked away. Levy ran up the bleachers to get to the blonde and the other bluenette sitting next to her. The two girls hugged and sat down. "Hi, Juvia" Levy waved at the shy girl. "Hello Levy" she waved back. Juvia looked down at her watch. "Shoot, Juvia has to go, have fun tonight."

"Make sure they end up together" Lucy laughed.

"Will do" the bluenette smiled

"Gray-Sama, remember, tomorrow, the fair, 9 am" A dark-haired boy rolled his eyes and turned around to face his girlfriend, smirking

"Who do I bring again?" Gray asked

"Lyon-sama, and no 'forgetting' him this time."

"Fine, see you tomorrow" Gary waved to his girlfriend

"Gajeel-Kun" Juvia said popping out from behind the doorway

"Yeah, Sprinkler"

"Do NOT Kill anyone, when Juvia is not around."

"Okay, You can help."

"Gajeel-Kun!" Juvia stomped her foot. Gajeel laughed at the angry female.

"Yeah, Yeah, go have your goddamn sleepover," Gajeel said dismissing her

"Bye Boys" Juvia waved goodbye to the team then ran outside

The team waved back, some staring at her. Gray glared "Let's get back to work," he said grabbing everyone's attention from his girlfriend. "Hey Stripper, Last time I checked I'm the team captain" a blonde-haired boy commented. "No one cares Sparky."

As the boys continued to practice (So Gray and Natsu fighting pulling Gajeel in, Jellal trying to calm the situation, Leo saying he's pretty to fight, Laxus and Bickslow laughing at the 'Idiots,' and Freed shaking his head in embarrassment) The two best friends sitting on the bleachers continued to talk

"We Should watch Horror movies."

"No those are scary."

"Karaoke?"

"You know I can't sing."

Lucy rolled her eyes "Anime" she said knowing that's the only thing her friend would watch

Levy's eyes lit up. "Yesssssss, don't be mad you know you like it."

"I just need to know why he doesn't play the piano anymore, and I do not like it."

"Sure"

"If I watch anime you need to do something for me."

"What," Levy said suspiciously

"You need to convince Gajeel to go on a date with you."

"What's the catch?"

"You take him on a date, and I'll bring Natsu, and we have a Double Date."

"Noooooooooo, They'll fight the entire time."

"Fine" Levy said she knew she would regret this later.

"We'll work on the details tonight, just text him and tell him you guys are going on a date and to meet him at the Mini Golf course."

"Fine"

As the two discussed the details, their boyfriends were finishing up practice. "What are they planning this time?" Natsu wondered to himself as he was walking into the locker room "They could just be you know, Talking" Gajeel commented sarcastically. "I just hope it's not another double date."

"Me too."

"What's so bad about double dates," Gray asked, while he and his girlfriend had been dating for a while she didn't like to go out resulting in not a lot of dates.

"Well it depends if your friends it's ok but if you hate the other person" Natsu Glared at the punk talking to Laxus. " It doesn't normally go well."

"I almost strangled him last time."

"Why" Laxus inquired

"He was bein a dick."

"Good reason" Laxus rolled his eyes

"Why do you care what a double date is like, it's not like Juvia likes to go outside."

"Apparently she does now." Gray sighed "She's making me bring Lyon to the amusement park with us, and I think she's bringing a friend. But her friend and Lyon aren't dating."

"She's probably bringing Meredy" Gajeel commented

"How do you know?"

"Spend a week stuck in a hotel with her, while your parents talk about business. You have no idea how much she rants about Meredy and Lyon being a cute couple and just couples in general."

"Try dating the school's matchmaker" Laxus commented.

"Try hearing about how her friend did this, and that means they did this, and on and on, I swear Lucy could talk for a year non-stop."

The boys continue to bicker over whose girlfriend/friend was worse when it came to shipping their classmates, the girls were fangirling, over well, shipping.

"And Juvia told me she's setting up Meredy and Lyon tomorrow."

"Cute" Levy squealed "I heard Mira is setting up her brother with Laxus's friend."

"Ahhh"

The fangirling continued until the boys came out of the locker room and Laxus ran off to help with the lighting for the play, and Jellal ran off to make sure Meredy was with Juvia.

"Shrimp!"

"Ugh, What"

"Where are you going?" Her nosy boyfriend asked

"Lucy's."

"Okay"

"Where are you going?"

"RR, I have a planning meeting for a music video, then to the motorbike track."

"Nice"

Elsewhere

"Luce!"

"Hey Natsu" Lucy waved at her boyfriend

"Can I take you home."

"Sorry, Natsu, Levy and I have a sleepover."

"Awwww" Natsu pouted

"Hey, we can hang out tomorrow. Don't forget EV Mini-Golf Course, 1:00, PM not AM."

"Okay" Natsu Brightened up

Just then Levy and Gajeel walked out of the school. Levy ran towards Lucy's car and jumped in. "Come on, Let's go."

Natsu, seeing his brother kissed Lucy on the cheek and ran to 'talk to' aka annoy his brother. Gajeel walked towards his dad's company's headquarters

At Lucy's House

"Hello Mrs. Heartfilia, Mr. Heartfilia"

"Hey Mom, Dad"

"Good afternoon girls" The Heartfilia household was very prestigious and formal.

"Wash up, dinner will be ready at 5:30" Layla Heartfilia told the two 16-year-old girls

"Yes ma'am" Lucy ran upstairs dragging her small friend up the stairs and pulled the girl into her room.

"So, how are you and Gajeel."

"We're fine."

"What about you and Natsu."

"He was talking to Lisanna, and I don't know if she was flirting with him or they were just talking."

"They're childhood friends right?"

"Yeah"

"So why would she flirt with him? if she liked him she would have done that a long time ago."

"Because they were more compatible then him and me."

"I don't think so, Juvia was telling me Lisanna has a secret boyfriend, and she was going to ask Natsu how to be a good girlfriend. Also, Natsu clearly loves you so he would never cheat on you."

"First of all, That's true. Secondly, Aww, That's cute. Who's the guy?"

"Juvia wouldn't say, but I'm guessing Freed" (Spoiler Alert: It's not)

"They would be so cute together."

"LUCY GET DOWN HERE"

"Yes Father"

1 hour later

The girls were sitting in Lucy's room gossiping

"Oh, wait did you ask Gajeel to meet you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I asked him, He said yes."

"Oh perfect!" Lucy said clapping her hands together

Levy rolled her eyes. "You know they are just going to kill each other, right?"

"Maybe they'll get along this time," Lucy said shrugging.

"That's as likely as Natsu and Gray never fighting again."

"Fair, What movie do you want to watch?" Lucy asked holding up a bunch of movies. "MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS!" Levy screamed grabbing the movie case and running to the TV and putting in the movie. Lucy rolled her eyes at her friend's obsession with mystery and old books. "Fine, even though we've watched that like 12 times" Levy looked at her friend "Your Point," she said very seriously. The rest of the night was spent gossiping, teasing each other, laughing, and watching movies (mostly anime)

*The Next Morning*

"Levy! Get up" Lucy screamed in her best friends ear. "It's 11 am" Lucy was running around her room trying to find an outfit for their double date. "Calm down, we told them to meet us at 1," Levy said rubbing her eyes, trying to wake up and calm down her panicked friend. "Oh, right" Levy sighed she was finally calm. "Now let's go eat and then get dressed."

*Time skip to 1 pm*

Natsu nervously stood outside the golf course waiting for his girlfriend, she was never late. Then he showed up. Gajeel Redfox was walking towards him "What the hell are you doing here?" Natsu questioned the punk. "Waiting for my girlfriend, Why are you here?" "I'm here waiting for my girlfriend" The boys looked at each other realization washed over the two boys faces.

"Hey Boys," Lucy said dragging Levy behind her.

"Why are you doing this again?" Natsu asked his girlfriend

"Yeah, I'm just gonna end up getting annoyed at this idiot," Gajeel said pointing to the pinkette next him.

"Yeah, Hey," Natsu said offended

"So do you want to cancel."

"NO" Natsu yelled, Gajeel just shrugged.

"Let's go Golfing then," Lucy said pulling Natsu with her. Gajeel and Levy walking behind them. "Sorry I lied," Levy said sheepishly. "You didn't lie, you asked me if I wanted to come on a date and I agreed" Gajeel sad "I lied by omission" "What the hell does that mean" Levy was about to respond when Gajeel interjected "You know what nevermind, I honestly don't care. Everyone lies, I lie, and It normally doesn't affect anything. I also won't do anything, last time when Juvia found out what I did, she drew on my face while I was asleep." Levy stifled a Laugh "It's not funny" Gajeel said defensively "Remind me never to get Juvia mad" Levy told him. "Yeah, she's scary." Levy laughed, her big, tuff, punk boyfriend was afraid of Juvia, a tiny, sweet and adorable girl, who probably couldn't hurt a fly.

"Here's your clubs and balls, have fun," the person at the window said. "We will," Lucy said dragging Natsu with her. This was going to be Torture for the boys.

"I got a hole in one" Levy screamed jumping up and down. "Good for you, Shrimp," Gajeel said writing down her score. "What's the score now Gajeel?" Lucy asked. "Shrimp, You, Flame Brain, Me" Gajeel grumbled walking to the next hole. "Ha, I'm beating you" Natsu made fun of the black-haired boy. "Shut it you dumbass, I don't do Golf" Gajeel Grumbled. "That's a shit excuse. Please, I normally don't play and I'm beating you" "By one mother-fucking point, you aren't that far ahead" "Still beating you" "Stop fighting or I'll call Erza" Lucy threatened. "Sorry, Lucy" The boys responded.

*1 hour later*

The group of friends (Two friends and two frenemies) were driving home in Lucy's car. Natsu's brother, Zeref had taken his because Natsu wasn't supposed to have it and Gajeel brought his motorbike and the 4 of them couldn't fit on that. (It was currently in the back of Lucy's car)

"I Won!" Levy said excitedly. "We know, you've been saying that since we left the course" Lucy rolled her eyes at her overexcited best friend. "So boys, How is the team?" Lucy asked, trying to make small talk. "We're doing well, I think we will beat Sabertooth next week," Natsu said, overly confident as usual. "Don't overestimate yourself, we don't know how to work together." Gajeel Muttered the last part "You guys do fight a lot" Levy said. "Whatever" Gajeel rolled his eyes "Metal Brain always starts it" Natsu muttered. "What did you just say charcoal?"

"Nothin' Metal Face"

"Why you little-"

"NO FIGHTING IN MY CAR!" Lucy yelled at the two bickering boys

"Sorry," Natsu said sheepishly

"Whatever" Gajeel rolled his eyes

"Why don't you all talk about your weird drama at your next meeting" Levy suggested. "Fine" Natsu crossed his arms and sat back

"Natsu," Levy said

"What?" Natsu asked

"What were you and Lisanna talking about a few weeks back?" Levy inquired. Lucy glared at her from the steering wheel

"Oh, we were talking about- Actually she told me not to tell anyone"

"You can tell us, right?"

"Nope"

"They were talking about Lisanna's new boyfriend" Gajeel commented

"How do you know?" Natsu asked

"Juvia told me" He explained as if it was obvious

"Who is her boyfriend?" Levy asked

"Some dark blue-haired guy"

"There are like 500 people we know with blue hair”

“I don’t know the damn details”

"We're here Gajeel," Lucy said pulling up to Gajeel's House.

"Thanks, Bunny Girl, See you next week shrimp," Gajeel said as he got out of the car and went to open the back to get his bike.

"My Name is LUCY!" Lucy screamed at him. "Yeah, Yeah, Whatever" Gajeel sad pulling out his bike. "Wait Gaje, Could you take me home?" Levy asked hoping out of the car. "Why not" Gajeel shrugged. "Bye Lucy, Natsu" Levy waved at her friend and the pinkette. "Bye Levy" "Come on Shrimp, Let's get you home. Just let me put my bike away and we can take my car" "Alright" Levy said following him into the Refox family's garage.

As Lucy was getting ready to drive away Natsu climbed up into the passenger seat poking his girlfriend in the process "Hey Luce" "What?" "Do you hate Lisanna?" He asked. Lucy's face went pale, she dreaded Natsu asking this question. Before answering she sighed. "No, I'm just jealous of your relationship with her" Lucy started the car. "Why?" "because you guys are so close and seem like you would be a better couple" Natsu started laughing. "It's not funny" Lucy whined. "Luce, don't ever think I would date Lis, she's my childhood best friend, she's just my friend and I will spend time with her but I will always love you. Please be nice to her, she thinks you hate her." Natsu said in a serious tone. "She does?" Lucy asked. "Yeah, she really wants to be friends with you but thinks you hate her" "Oh No," Lucy said in a sad tone. "I never meant for her to feel like that" "I know" "I'll talk to her on Monday." "Good idea, She'll like that" Natsu smiled at his girlfriend. He was really lucky to have someone like her. "Alright see you at school." Lucy waved at Natsu as he got out. "Bye," he waved back smiling. "Love ya Luce" "Love you too" Lucy smiled, she was lucky to have such an amazing person as her boyfriend

*With Levy and Gajeel*

"Alright which car do you want to take?" Gajeel asked the petite bluenette. "Oh, that blue one is pretty. Can we take that one?" Levy asked pointing to a dark blue Corvette. Gajeel shrugged "Why not, Let me just make sure it's ok with the owner." "Who owns it?" Levy questioned, she sometimes forgot his family collected cars and they often kept a lot of people who needed someone to hold onto their car, commonly family friends who were on vacation, in their garage. "Juvia, she left it here last time she was over," Gajeel said nonchalantly. Levy tilted her head to the left out of confusion, sure she knew Juvia's family was rich but the girl had never seemed to be the one to own such an extravagant car. "She only has this one for when she's going somewhere important" Gajeel explained seeing the small girls confusion. Gajeel's phone buzzed, he looked down, "She said we could take it" "It's a nice car" "Yeah." The two got in the car.

"So are you doing well in class?" Levy asked. Gajeel groaned, she always asked this. "I'm passing," he said. "Passing is not the same as succeeding," Levy said seriously. "I know, I'm just not good at tests and I don't like homework"

"Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it"

"I'm inheriting my dad's company, What more do I need"

Levi sighed "You need to know business tactics, stats, what people want, stuff like that"

Gajeel rolled his eyes "R.R is a record company, It can't be too hard to manage"

"Trust me you will be begging for my help when you become in charge"

"Alright" Gajeel decided to drop it, they were nearing her house (cough cough Library) and she wouldn't let it go if he didn't

"See ya' tater tot," He said as he pulled up to her house

"My name is Levy," she said kissing his cheek

"I don't care," He said sticking his tongue out "Love ya' Tiny"

"Love you to Screw Brains," She said kissing him again.

"LEVY, YOU'RE LATE" Mr. McGarden yelled from inside the house. "YOU BETTER NOT BE WITH THAT REDFOX KID" Levy rolled her eyes and turned around to wave to her boyfriend but he was already down the road. "Leave that boy alone, he is a fine young man" she heard her mother hit her father with a cookie sheet. Levy smiled and thought 'my family is crazy' "GET IN HERE YOUNG LADY" "Yes sir" Levy said running in her house. Today wasn't complete torture.

She really only ever gets pissy (or used to! they’re starting to get along better !!!) at Kiri when she feels jealous for whatever reason, and that doesn’t happen as often as it seems through my doodles, so it’s not like she’s always antagonistic towards him! Mostly she just ignores him, so no, it doesn’t happen often at all! And she’s never gone further than messing his hair up or tugging a bit at his clothes, since she doesn’t have the strength to move Kiri all that much haha the only reason she managed to have him fall the first time was because he was balancing already, but generally Kiri weighs way too much for her to move him around or pull at the red stuff he’s wearing enough for him to notice it all that much 

anyway, Baku never reprimended her for it - not more than he did in the first comic I posted with them, at least, specifically because the damage she can make is so minor that Kiri and Baku barely consider it something to tell her off for... if she were ever to act that way towards someone she might actually hurt (say, a kid her own age) then Baku might reprimend her more seriously, but as long as she’s just tugging at Kiri’s clothes they don’t see it as anything worth fighting her over :D

What a good question you got there!! She has control over everything that has a color that falls in the red wavelength of the visible spectrum - that does include certain tones of pink and certain tones of orange, but there’s a point where orange gets too yellow or pink gets too white that her powers stop working. As long as the red in the color is more than any other hue, though, her powers work!

She hasn’t spent much time with Jirou yet so right now she’s mostly meh about her (though right now she only actually likes Bakugou, and she’s warming up to Kiri, but that’s about it). She doesn’t mind Mitsuki, but she hasn’t spent too long with her either! She yells a bit too much at her dad tho, which Akane isn’t particularly fond of (protective bean that she is, she doesn’t get that that’s just their way of communicating just yet), so out of her grandparents she prefers Masaru, after all~

It’s time for another week of replies. I don’t know what to talk about today, other than I just finished my English homework and kinda hate my English teacher now. But it’s fine.

As you might have noticed, the queue now starts two hours earlier than it used to. That’s because I’ve encountred a wonderful glitch. You might have heard about it. Tumblr basically invented time travel. Posts which were queued to be posted between 9-10 pm CET were sent to the past. Some people suggested turning off the “new post types” or whatever. I did that, but it didn’t help.

I liked the development Ross and Caleb had. Sunset and Dawn got less of it. But that doesn’t mean I love them less. They’re awesome. At the moment in my game, they’re already engaged and...wow I love focusing on them.

War Storm Book Review

Summary: Mare has endured the worst of betrayals. But as Maven’s obsession with her grows, Mare, along with Montfort and the Scarlet Guard, must put her tentative trust in Cal and his silvers. It is the only way to win the war. While both sides prepare for an inevitable conclusion, Cal and Mare struggle to establish a world in which reds and silvers can coexist peacefully. In the process, they learn the means by which they accomplish this are just as important as ending years of prejudice and hate.

The Romance (minor spoilers)

I have a feeling this entire review is going to be full of minor spoilers. I’m sorry, but there’s no other way to express my feelings.

First of all, Mare and Cal. Love them. Ship them. So. Hard. This book was torture to get through because Mare and Cal are now little stubborn shitheads who both want basically the same thing but believe in majorly different ways of getting there. I was not okay with the King’s Cage ending, alright? It ruined me. I had hope for War Storm but now...well, read it, and you’ll see what I mean.

On the bright side, I am totally here for the banter between Mare and Cal, especially while they’re at odds. It relieves tension among chapters of suspense and the foreboding sense that someone will soon die.

Evangeline, my love

Yes, Evangeline totally deserves her own section in this review.

I think we can all agree that no one really liked Evangeline until she received her own chapters in King’s Cage. If I’m being honest, I didn’t truly jump on the I-love-Evangeline-Samos bandwagon until this book. Maybe, it’s because spilling Mare’s blood isn’t a priority for her anymore. Probably. Definitely.

I truly enjoyed the relationship (friendship?) that developed between Mare and Evangeline during War Storm. It really showed the growth of these two characters nicely. Plus, I’m a real sucker for that enemies to friends trope.

Also, Evangeline and Elane are really cute together.

   Point of Views (minor spoilers)

As you know from the previous Red Queen books, Aveyard has written from the point of view of other characters in addition to Mare. I’m always wary of series in which authors switch to or include POVs other than the main character’s. What if I don’t like these characters? In the end, it’s a 50/50 chance as to whether or not I’ll enjoy a new perspective. Sometimes, I grow to admire a character I once despised, and other times, I end up favoring one POV over another. (Let’s face it. The latter happens 100% of the time.)

In War Storm, Aveyard once again switches up the POVs. I won’t spoil the surprise as to who gets their own chapters since this is the non-spoiler section, but I will say that, of course, Mare still remains the main throughout the book. Speaking of POVs, I wasn’t too pleased with one of them. For me, it ruined the pacing of the book. I would get bored with that chapter, and then I would have to put the book down in favor of doing something else. Those chapters just wrecked my reading flow. Right when I got to an exciting part, racing from page to page, I turned to the next chapter and there it was. My reading block. Ugh.

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

Pacing & POVs but with spoilers

Continuing with the POV thing: Who the fuck is Iris and why should I care? I am not a fan of the different POVs. Just when I was getting used to Cameron in King’s Cage, BAM! She’s gone! And in her place is this girl, Iris. Not a fan, bro. (Yes, I do understand dramatic irony, but I did not think it was necessary for this book.)

But kudos to Victoria Aveyard. After reading, I now know who Iris really is inside, and I do care. A little bit. Not enough for her to get her own chapters, though.

Mare, Cal, and Evangeline keep their POVs in this novel, and I’m cool with that. Actually, I was surprised at how cool I was with that while reading.

Another thing: the pacing. My god, it’s a little bit of torture. First, let me be honest: I really wanted to like this book and give it a better rating than I did. It’s a part of one of my favorite series, and I love the author. Now don’t get me wrong. I still enjoyed it, but not as much as any of the other books in the series. It’s just the pacing. There were really intriguing parts, like Evangeline’s meddling, and Mare secretly planning to take Cal’s throne, but then there would be parts, like anything Iris-related, that bored me a lot.

When War Storm was good it was real good, but when it was bad, it was real boring.

Farley AHHH

I love Farley so freaking much. I’m not one for children, usually, but Clara and Farley are adorable.

Okay, the one thing I really love about this book is the friendship between Farley and Mare. Honestly, it’s more like they’re sisters. Aveyard did such a great job at showing how much they’ve developed as people and how far they’ve come, despite setbacks. Really, Farley stepping into a role as Mare’s big sister is what I live for.

Also, the way she doesn’t judge Mare’s feelings for Cal while simultaneously wanting to flay him alive is just perfection.

Mare & Cal & Maven & Everyone Else

Ever since Maven betrayed Mare, I dropped him hard. I’ve always been a Cal fan (even when he’s a dumbass). I know there are people in the fandom who love Maven for reasons I cannot understand, and I’m not here to judge you or come for you or whatever. But I do think Maven needed to die and he did. The end.

Is it terrible for me to say Ptolemus grew on me? I loved Shade as much as anyone, but I think his death was circumstantial. I’m giving Ptolemus a second chance. I hope he has a short story whenever those come out.

I’m a little disappointed in Evangeline. Yes, it’s in character of her to escape in that way, but I really wanted her to have a badass showdown, helping Mare and Cal. Oh well, I can’t wait for her short story with Elane.

Montfort

Ah, Montfort. Good ole Montfort. I don’t have much to say about this new terrain our characters venture across, but I feel like I should? I liked the way Aveyard described its government. She did a nice job introducing the world to her readers. Yay, democracy!

THAT ENDING WHAT

Alrighty, bitches. Maven Calore is fucking dead like he deserves (by Mare’s hand no less), and it was kind of underwhelming. I liked the way Aveyard wrote it, but no one else died in that battle, really? Like, not even Granny Calore? I just wish she had killed more people, that’s all. It would have been more realistic in a war setting, and also, it would have taken care of some problematic asshats. (Side note: I fucking support Volo’s death. That was good.)

I get it, though. It’s hard to kill off characters. It’s a balancing act; you can’t go all Game of Thrones on this shit, but you can’t let everyone have a happily ever after either. It’s complicated.

Seriously, though, what the fuck? Why are Mare and Cal not together like I dreamt they would be? Come on, Aveyard, why? I’m not cool with this ending. I NEED MORE FROM THEM. WHEN ARE THESE FREAKING SHORT STORIES COMING OUT?!
