i can't find that one really good post about the differences in fenris' hatred for anders (dismissive) vs merrill (pure vitriol) and how it relates to his idolization of family ties, but once you see it it's hard to ignore
forget slavers, blue wraith should have had him hunting down deadbeat dads or something
#i think its a mix of both him very heavily idealizing the idea of family because its so foreign to him#and also a little bit of a projection in a way of his guilt regarding the fog warriors#like he often speaks of how fortunate hawke is to have a family and some idea of home#he idealizes this idea of that stability thag support and feeling of community#not just because he feels hes never truly had it but the one time he almost did he slaughtered them all on danarius command#like hes had to wrestle with the guilt and pain of their blood being on his hands that these people who brought him in died at his hands#but danarius is not a demon he willingly invited into his life he was a horrifying constant and a terrifying inevitability#merrill did seek out her demon her path and welcomed it in even at the cost of her clan#from his perspective she had the choice he never had more autonomy than he ever had and still she made this choice#meanwhile hes not only carrying the guilt of what happened with the fog warriors and the lack of autonomy he felt there but still he did it#but also desperately clinging and searching for whatever hopes of a family he may have only to find himself alone by the end of it#i think in a way its one thing for him to see anders who feels like another dime a dozen dangerous mage who makes bad decisions and whines#and its another to see someone like Merrill who had a family and love and support but chose to piss it all away for blood magic#and juat in case i need to say it i think thats how he sees it anders and Merrill are far more complicated than that and i love them#but fenris is ya know fenris

Tried to hug Red after Sadha ran off to comfort him and dude snapped at me that I'm not her and shouldn't take such "liberties" with him.
Dude??? You have literally seen me give completely platonic hugs and affectionate gestures of touch, just went on a walk to give you privacy- and you saw me kiss Ifan. But sure, yeah, you caught me, I'm some lizard homewrecker.
