Hey there :) I hope you’re having a great day :) please could I request headcanons for hotd characters where they find their crush drunk after a banquet and when she sees them she runs up to them and says I’m in love with you 💙💙
a/n: I didn't die (thanks for the request 🫀)
warnings: alcohol, femslash
drunk confessions
daemon targaryen
Tumblr media
He perfectly saw what condition you were in, but unfortunately, he missed the moment when you disappeared from the hall. At first, he simply tried to find you with his eyes from his place, but when he realized that you were not there, he simply put down his glass and went to look for you along the corridors. And he was lucky to find you on the very first couch, in a state where you were already catching little invisible dragons above your head. He just chuckled as he knelt down in front of you.
-Y/N…
-Daemon!- you yelled, immediately throwing yourself on his neck, and almost knocking him onto his back. -It's you! I love you so much! Do you know how much I love you? More life! (approximately this is what you said, if you translate from a drunken language)
- Of course you do, lassy. I would have expected something else. - Daemon just said, dragging your drunk, screaming love messages, body to the chambers.
criston cole
Tumblr media
He did not leave your side throughout the entire banquet, but still, you managed to slip away unnoticed to the balcony, taking a jug of wine with you) and he caught himself too late. The knight found you on the floor, leaning back against the partition, hugging the jug.
- Milady, I think you're a little drunk. Let me help you. -He barely lifted you to your feet when your eyes cleared for a moment and you saw who was in front of you.
-Help me with the power of your love, oh incredible knight ... After all, my love for you is limitless!- you shouted, which made Criston, of course, pleased, and his ears even turned pink, but at the same time he wanted to fall through the ground.
-Shhhhh...Y/N, don't shout...
-But I want to scream about my feelings, my life, my soul,-you purred, grabbing his cheeks.
- It can be done not where half the kingdom has gathered, dear lady.
aemond targaryen
Tumblr media
I certainly doubt very much that he would let you drink yourself unconscious, but oh well. Let's imagine that you really managed to outdrink his brother and were now looking for adventure on the... head. And you would have found them if you had not been grabbed by the hand and dragged in another direction, past the adventure.
- What are you doing, my lady? How much did you drink?-Aemond asked, almost worried, holding your shoulders to keep you on your feet. -Y/N, dear, please tell me something.
You blinked a couple of times, noticed the silver sheen of your hair.
-I can only say that I love you, my prince. This is the most important thing that can happen right now. -You grumbled as you fell into his arms. He froze. Did you only say that because you were drunk? Because he was a little angry because of your behavior? Why you… You snorted something, kissed him on the cheek, and began to sniff again, hanging on him like a squirrel collar. And his heart stopped. Okay, he'll deal with it tomorrow. Now it is important that you do not fall asleep in the garden.
aegon targaryen
Tumblr media
Guys, I know you got drunk together. But do not underestimate his merits! His experience is much greater than yours. So, if he could still connect words into sentences, then we communicated in separate words with an interval of several minutes. He didn’t have to look for you anywhere, since you both sat down in some corner with a wine supply, emptying the bottles. And while he was complaining about his life to you, you were just tired. Your body has already ceased to obey you, there was not enough air from the corset, and all you wanted to do was sleep. But you did not find anything soft, except for Aegon's shoulder, so it was decided to lie down there. Your head fell helplessly on his shoulder, and for some reason you decided that it would be great to take his hand. -
I love you.-You muttered, drifting off to sleep.
-What? What did you say?-He sobered up.-Hey, Y/N, what did you just say?-Aegon was scared that he didn't hear you or misinterpreted your words. He shook his shoulder, hoping to get an answer out of you, but you did not respond, seeing the hundredth dream.
-Hey Y/N!- he leaned over to make sure you were probably playing him, but seeing that you were asleep made him almost cry at the absurdity of the situation.
And what should he do now?
alicent hightower
Tumblr media
-Come, dear, it's time to rest. -she gently led you into the room, making sure that you did not run into the column. - I think we should give up this type of wine for a while. It's too strong for such holidays. - Alicente giggled, and you echoed her laughter, holding onto the wall. When you finally passed the corridor and ended up in your bed, the Queen kindly helped you get rid of all the things that prevented you from sleeping.
-I hope you'll be in good health tomorrow.- She ran her hand through your hair.
-Me t-too… Your Majesty,- you giggled again. What have I done to deserve your love?
- With your love, Y/N. Rest.
lucerys velaryon
Tumblr media
Nothing. Both of you just got drunk, as if you were seeing alcohol for the first time, secretly from your mothers, and fell asleep two meters from the door on top of each other. 🐻
jacaerys velaryon
Tumblr media
-JACAERYS!- You yelled as soon as he appeared from around the corner. He stopped in amazement, not understanding what was happening. You rushed to him, jumping into his arms, causing Jace to spin in place, with you in his arms.
-Y/N, where have you been? I was looking for you everywhere. - he said, returning you to the ground. Your eyes sparkled, you smiled slyly.
-Walked.
He blinked several times, peering into your face.
- Are you drunk?
-NOT AT ALL! ONLY IF FROM LOVE TO YOU! -You burst out laughing, grabbing his hands and happily showering his face with small kisses.
- Oh gods, Y/N ... - the prince was embarrassed, trying to hide a smile. - You drank... “
-Oh no!- you screamed theatrically, pouting your lips in resentment. -My prince is in doubt because of my love!- Is he really sure that I don’t love him at all!?
- I didn't say that. I just assumed. - Jacaerys was embarrassed, slightly squeezing your hand. - This does not mean that I do not love you. Quite the opposite. You smiled happily, again drowning him in kisses.
rhaenyra targaryen
Tumblr media
She was standing on the balcony, breathing in the cool air, when you crept up behind and hugged her from behind, resting your chin on her shoulder. You slightly swayed from drunk alcohol.
-Y/N. - she grinned, stroking your hands a little. - What are you doing here? I thought you were having fun today in the company of wine. - she pricked. You muttered something unhappily, which made Rhaenyra laugh.
-I prefer the company of my beloved heiress. - you answered, feeling your tongue tangle.
-Really? Can I take this as a kind of recognition?
-Well, of course. I can say this tens of thousands of times until you are sure my princess. But, only when the company of good wine will let me go.
She laughed again, intertwining your fingers.
- I love you too, Y/N.

Late nights with Dean Winchester would include:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Movie nights
Arguing over what movie to watch
“I want Harry Potter.”
“We already watched every figgin’ Harry Potter movie (Y/N)!”
Lots of junk food
Sometimes just collapsing next to each other after a long day
Dean snoring
“For fuck’s sake wake up!”
“Huh, what?”
“You started chopping wood after five minutes, Dean!”
“Well I’m tired.”
“Well stop snoring. Love you.”
Him staying up late to finish research about God knows what with Sam
Snuggling up
Neck kisses
Caressing your hair
You lazily turning around to kiss him and to climb on top of him
“Cuddle me!”
Cuddling until you fall back asleep on his chest
Listening to his heartbeat
You reading while he’s doing anything and everything to distract you
“Dean, aren’t you supposed to be asleep?”
Him placing kisses all over your neck knowing it will send you over the edge
“Did anyone tell you, you look hot in those reading glasses of yours?”
“Yeah, you every time I want to read.”
Sex before bed
“Dean, Sam is in the next room!”
“Don’t care!”
“You are unbelievable!”
“And yet you still love me!”
“Yeah I do!”
Slow passionate kisses
Not being able to keep your hands of each other
Dean kissing every inch of you
Until you lose your mind and tell him to lie down knowing damn well he loved when you bossed him in bed
“God, I love when you do what I tell you!”
Climbing on top of him
Teasing him before sitting down, feeling how big he is
Breathing each other as you started to move
Inches away, not closing the gap between
I love you’s
Lot’s of I love you’s
Him digging his fingers into your hipbones as you speed up the pace
“(Y/N)!”
“Shhhhh come for me Dean!”
Dean reaching his high and being too loud
You putting your hand over his mouth
“Shhhh silly! We are not alone!”
Dean moaning your name over and over again
You collapsing next to him
“You better not think I won’t return the favor! Jesus (Y/N)!”
You kissing his forehead
“Wake me up tomorrow.”
Giving him a wink
“God, I love you!”
P.S. I LOVE SUB!DEAN MORE THAN AIR I BREATHE OKAY?

While You Were Sleeping
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Synopsis: after saving your long time crush Tom’s life from an accident that puts him in a coma, a misplaced comment leads his family to believe you’re his fiancé
Masterlist
Inspired by the movie!
Tumblr media
“Good morning.” You greeted your customer. “How can I help-“
“Large hot.” He cut you off without looking up.
“Absolutely.” Your smile faltered a little. “Any cream or-“
“Black.” He interrupted again. “Half a Splenda.”
“You got it.” Your kept your fake cheerfulness as you typed in his order. He left without thanking you and you instantly rolled your eyes.
“How illegal is it to spit on someone’s drink?” You mumbled to your coworker Sandra as you began to make the mans coffee.
“Extremely. I’ll make it. Your boyfriends order just came in.” She said as she held up the ticket to an online order.
“Medium tea with six sugars?” You gasped and took the ticket.
“Yup. Same as every day.” She said. “I’m surprised he hasn’t gone into a sugar coma yet. That’s double the amount we’re supposed to put into a medium.”
“He just likes his tea sweet.” You defended the stranger. “Who are you to judge his sugar intake?”
“Can you please put your number on the cup already? You’ve been pining after medium tea guy for months. He can’t be your future husband if you can’t talk to him.”
“I can’t do that. I’m perfectly fine with admiring him from a far and making him the center of my maladaptive day dreaming.” You joked as you put his tea out on the rack.
“I’m just saying, you probably have a chance with him if you just-“
“Shhhhh.” You hushed her. “He’s here.”
Your heart pounded in your chest as the man came into the store. He took his tea off the rack and made brief eye contact with you as he sipped it.
“Thank you!” He called as he left the store.
“You’re welcome!” You called back, but he was already gone.
“There he goes.” You sighed. “The man of my dreams.”
“Next time he comes in here, you’re asking that man on a date.” Sandra said as she gave you a pointed look.
“Not gonna happen.”
Since your coffee shop was located in the London Underground station, you had a lot of regulators. This regular in particular had a special place in your heart. He was always kind, unlike most costumers you interacted with, but that wasn’t what you liked about him. There was something indescribable about him that made you long to know him. You’d never actually spoken, but you had a feeling you would get along if you did.
The next day, you were on the register again when the ticket for a medium tea with six sugars came through.
“I’ll take over.” Sandra said as she bumped you with her hip. “Your boyfriends order just came in.”
“Really?” You frowned and checked the time. “He’s never this late. He must’ve slept in.”
“You are so in love with him.” She teased as you began to make his tea.
“Shut up.” You laughed as you went over to put his drink on the rack. Just as you set it down, cold fingertips touched yours.
“Thanks, darling.” A kind voice said as the cup was lifted off the rack. You were too stunned to speak as the man you’d been pining after for months finally spoke to you. You’d never been this close to him before, so you took your time taking in all the details of his face. He was well dressed in a light gray overcoat, a welcomed contrast to his messy curls. His cheeks were tinted pink from the November chill, but what really caught your eye was the bright red scarf around his neck.
“It’s cold out there, isn’t it?” He said when he saw you looking at his scarf.
“Hmm?” You hummed, barely hearing him over your own heartbeat.
“Never mind. It wasn’t important. “He chuckled. “Stay warm, okay? And have a good day.”
You gave him a weak smile as he took his tea and walked out of the store. You let out a loud groan and shut your eyes once you processed what had happened.
“Stupid stupid stupid.” You mumbled as you hit your palm against your forehand.
“Oh, baby.” Sandra frowned. “That was rough.”
“Hey. How are you? Nice coat. Lovely day, right? Marry me. I love you.” You whined as you went through all the things you should have said.
“It’s okay.” Sandra assured you. “He’ll be in tomorrow. You can redeem yourself then.”
“I can’t come in tomorrow.” You told her.
“Why not?”
“Because I’m going to kill myself tonight.” You said simply. “Could you cover my shift?”
“It wasn’t that bad.” She promised. “He probably won’t even remember it.”
“I’ve been waiting for him to speak to me for 4 months and I totally blew it. I hate myself. Now we’re never gonna fall in love and get married.” You groaned and rested your head on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it.” She rubbed your back. “You’ll get your chance to redeem yourself.”
“I hope so.”
“Wait, isn’t that your guy?” Sandra said, making you take your head off her shoulder. You looked out the window of the coffee shop and sure enough, you saw the man near the tracks being mugged but a couple of guys.
“Oh my God.” You gasped and grabbed a bagel from behind you. You ran out of the store and didn’t stop until you reached the man.
“Hey! Leave him alone.” You said as you threw a bagel at one of the muggers. It caught him so off guard that he dropped the briefcase he had taken from the man.
“Is this cinnamon raisin?” The assailant asked as he picked up the bagel. “Disgusting!”
In what felt like slow motion, he threw the bagel back at you. You ducked just in time to watch it hit the man in the head and send him stumbling backwards towards the train tracks.
“No!” You cried as you reached out to catch him. You grabbed his scarf but it unraveled from his neck and stayed in your hands as the man fell onto the tracks. The muggers quickly ran away as a crowd began to gather. You immediately ran to the edge of the platform and saw the man lying unconscious on the tracks.
“Oh my God.” You gasped. “Sir? Sir, are you okay?”
You picked up the bagel and threw it at him in an attempt to wake him up, but he didn’t budge. Without another thought, you jumped down onto the tracks and knelt beside him.
“Please wake up. You have to get off the tracks.” You said as you shook him. Once again, his eyes didn’t open. You looked up and felt your heart stop when you saw the train in the distance.
“Please wake up.” You pleaded. “The train is coming really fast. It’s an Express.”
The train was getting closer and he was still unconscious. You tried to pull him off the tracks by his arm, but he was too heavy.
“Wake up. You have to wake up.” You said as you straddled his waist and tries to shake him awake again. The train was going to be there any second and he was still out cold.
“Oh God.” You groaned as you pulled him as hard as you could. With your help, he rolled off the tracks and landed on top of you as the train whizzed by. You struggled to catch your breath as the sound of distant applause and gasps filled your ears. Suddenly, his eyes fluttered opened and he looked at you in confusion.
“Hi.” You said weakly.
“Hi.” He smiled softly at you before shutting his eyes again. His limp head fell onto you, knocking the air out of your chest. You wrapped your arms around him and let out a sigh of relief as the police and emergency services arrived. They let you ride in the back of the ambulance as they took him to the hospital, but you were separated at the doors.
“Excuse me?” You asked the lady at the front desk. “A man just came in and I really need to see him.”
“Whats his name?” She asked.
“I don’t know.” You realized. “I only know his initials.”
“I can’t help you without a name.”
“Please.” You begged as you spotted him. “He’s right over there. I’ll be right back.”
You ran around the front desk and followed the gurney that was wheeling the man into a room.
“Woah there.” A doctor stopped you. “Are you family?”
“No. I’m not.” You said as you tried it push past him.
“Then you can stay out here.” The doctor smiled tightly at you.
“But-“ You we’re cut off by the door being shut in your face. You shut your eyes in defeat and pressed your forehead against his door.
“I was gonna marry him.” You mumbled sadly. A nurse overhead you say this and watched curiously as you wrapped his scarf around your neck. You went to sit down in defeat, hugging his briefcase tightly against your body and resting your chin against it as you watched the doctors work on him. The nurse quickly went over to you and tapped you on the shoulder.
“Excuse me? Are you with that man?” She asked as she pointed to the mans room.
“Yeah, I am. Is he all right?” You hoped as you stood up.
“Come with me, dear.” The nurse smiled kindly at you and lead you into the room. Your breath caught in your throat when you saw the man lying in a hospital bed and hooked up to multiple machines.
“Oh God. He looks so pale.” You frowned as you went over to him.
“His vitals are stable.” The nurse told you. “You can touch him if you’d like.”
You hesitantly reached out and put your hand on his face. When you were sure you weren’t hurting him, you sat down in the seat beside his bed and held his hand.
“I’m so sorry this happened to you.” You whispered. “I should’ve been paying better attention.”
“Is that the woman who saved his life?” One of the doctors asked the nurse.
“Yes.” The nurse whispered back. “And it gets even better. She’s his fiancé. She said they’re gonna get married.”
“Wow. That’s amazing.” The doctor nodded in approval. They left to give you your privacy as you continued to hold his hand.
“I wish I said hello to you. I really wanted to. You just caught me off guard. Give me a chance to say hello before we say goodbye.” You told him as a tear slipped down your face. Just then, a group of people came bustling into the room. The woman and one of the boys had an apron on as the rest wore terrified expressions.
“Tom? Oh No.” The woman gasped. “Tommy, what happened? Is he okay?”
You quickly let go of his hand and went to the back of the room as the doctor came back in. As you stood back, you smiled at little upon learning his name.
“You must be Mr. and Mrs. Holland. Your son is stable for now.” The doctor explained. “The trauma to his head is most likely the reason for his coma. We’re not sure when he’ll wake up at this time.”
“Oh God.” Nikki held her hand to her lips. “On Thanksgiving day. How did this happen?”
“He fell onto the tracks on the tube.” You spoke up, making the family turn and look at you.
“Who’s that?” The youngest boy asked.
“Paddy, don’t be rude.” Dom hushed him.
“She is someone who can’t be in here right now.” The doctor who kicked you out earlier said as he narrowed his eyes at you.
“Let her stay.” The nurse said. “She’s his fiancé.”
“Fiancé?” Nikki’s eyes lit up as she noticed you were wearing Tom’s scarf. You were just as confused as the family was when you heard the nurse say this
“I don’t care.” The doctor continued. “She can’t be in here. Family only.”
“She’s basically family.” The nurse insisted. “She deserves to be here. She saved his life.”
“You saved his life?” Dom asked. “I thought he fell on the tracks.”
“He did.” The nurse said. “So she jumped onto the tracks the pulled him out of the way of the train.”
“You did?” One of the boys jaw dropped.
“I had to.” You said simply. “The train was coming and he wasn’t waking up.”
The family looked at you in admiration as you hugged his briefcase tightly against your chest.
“He never mentioned having a fiancé.” Nikki realized.
“Oh, I’m not-“
“You know how Tom is, Nikki.” Dom cut you off. “He’s very private about that kind of thing. He probably didn’t want to tell us until he knew it was going to last.”
“Hold on.” One of the boys went up to you. “How did my div brother get a girl like you to agree to marry him? You’re hot.”
“Oh, well thank you. Butt Tom and I aren’t-“
“Quiet, Harry. Tom might be able to hear you.” The other boy cut you off again.
“Sam, he’s in a coma. He can’t hear me.” Harry said as he lifted Tom’s limp arm and let it drop. “And I’m just saying. It’s unlikely that Tom got her to marry him without a little bit of coercion.”
“He didn’t coerce me.” You tried again. “He never even-“
“What’s your name, darling?” Dom asked you. “I can’t believe I don’t even know you yet you saved my sons life.”
“I’m Y/n.”
“Y/n. What a pretty name.” Nikki gushed. “And such a pretty girl. I can see why he wants to marry you.”
“Thank you. But he-“
“Welcome to the family, Y/n. I’m Dom.” Dom said as he hugged you. “I’m sorry we had to meet under these circumstances. But really, I can’t thank you enough for saving my sons life.”
“Of course.” You smiled softly. “He’d do it for me.”
Nikki and Dom exchanged heartfelt looks upon hearing this. Nikki was the next one to hug you, letting it linger for a long time.
“You’re a brave girl.” She said as she cupped your face. “Not everyone would’ve done what you did. What gave you the courage to jump down into the tracks?”
“I don’t know. I just didn’t question it. I saw him fall and I knew I had to save him.”
“Wow.” Sam nodded. “You must really love him.”
“You do realize you could’ve died, right?” Harry raised as eyebrow as he drew on Tom’s face.
“I know. He was worth it.” You said as you looked wistfully at Tom.
“Do you hear that? He was worth her risking her life. What a beautiful relationship you must have. We’re so happy to have you join the family.” Nikki said as she hugged you again.
“Thank you. But I’m not actually-“
“I’m sorry, but we need to run some more tests on Tom.” The doctor cut you off. “You can come back tomorrow during visiting hours.”
“We can’t help him now.” Dom sighed. “Let’s come back tomorrow and see if anything changes.”
“Y/n, won’t you come home with us? We were just getting ready to eat dinner.” Nikki asked as she squeezed your hand.
“Oh, I really shouldn’t.”
“Please?” She hoped. “It’s thanksgiving. And I’d love to get to know you.”
“We all would.” Dom added. With the entire family and hospital staff staring at you, you felt like you didn’t have a choice.
“Sure.” You reluctantly agreed. “Why not?”
~
You walked into Tom’s childhood home with your breath held. A few hours ago, you’d never even spoken to him. Now, you were about to eat thanksgiving dinner with his family. You clocked a few pictures around the house of Tom growing up and smiled to yourself. As you sat down at the table, you decided to be as honest as possible. You may be lying about your relationship with Tom, but you didn’t have to lie about the rest.
“So, Y/n.” Nikki asked as she sat down. “How long have you and Tom been together?”
“Since September 3rd.” You answered honestly. “That’s the first time I saw him.”
“Where did you meet?” Dom wondered.
“At the coffee shop in the tube station. I work there and he comes in everyday.”
“He probably orders the most sugary drink on the menu, doesn’t he?” Paddy snorted.
“Yes, actually.” You chuckled. “He likes a lot of sugar in his tea.”
“September 3rd, huh?” Harry said skeptically. “That’s pretty quick for an engagement.”
“You have no idea.” You said under your breath.
“Was it love at first sight?” Nikki asked.
“It was. Most people don’t even look up when they come in to order. But he always smiles says thank you.” You recalled with a smile.
“See Dom? I told you it was important to enforce manners. Manners got Tom a lovely fiancé.” Nikki smiled in content as she gestured to you.
“How good are his manners?” Harry wondered. “Are they really enough to make up for everything else?”
“Harry.” Nikki scolded while you laughed.
“I like a lot of things about him.” You told Harry. “He always helps women in heels step on and off the tube. And he always gives his seat up to kids and old people. He’s very kind. That’s the first thing I noticed about him.”
“Aw.” Nikki beamed.
“Where’s your family tonight, Y/n?” Sam asked. “I hope they don’t mind us stealing you for thanksgiving.”
“Oh, no ones missing me tonight.” You smiled politely. “I was a foster kid so I don’t have any family.”
An awkward silence filled the room, something that always happened when you mentioned your past. You nervously cleared your throat and shrunk down in your seat until Dom spoke up.
“Yes you do.” He said. “You have us.”
“And were very lucky to have you.” Nikki added.
“Whats a foster kid?” Paddy asked with a mouth full of food.
“Paddy.” Nikki whispered. “Manners.”
“It’s okay. I don’t mind telling him.” You assured her. For the rest of dinner, you got to know each member of the family as they got to know you. You told them about your past and kept it vague when it came to questions about Tom. Nikki was especially eager to talk about the wedding and was more than willing to help plan it.
Once dinner had ended, you thanked the family before driving back to the hospital and finding Toms room. He was still unconscious and sleeping in silence, the only noise coming from his many monitors.
“Hey. I didn’t want you to spend the night alone.” You said as you slipped your hand back into his.
“I don’t know if you can hear me, but I’m really sorry. I never meant for this to happen. Today was the first time we ever spoke to each other and now I’m planning a bridal shower with your mother. It all got out of hand so fast. The nurse told them I was your fiancé and I kept trying to tell them the truth, but it never came out.”
You stared at Tom’s sleeping face and let out a wavering sigh. You had been lying to his family all day and you didn’t want to lie to him too.
“Honestly, I didn’t try very hard.” You admitted. “I got swept away by being with your family. They’re amazing. All of them have been so kind to me. It’s been a long time since I’ve been a part of a family. I just missed how it felt to be included.”
Unbeknownst to you, Dom was outside the door listening. He had also come to the hospital to see Tom when he found you already in the room.
“But that’s no excuse.” You continued. “They’re not my family. They’re yours. I’ll tell them the truth. I promise I will. And then I’ll get out of your life forever.”
You raised Tom’s limp hand to your lips and kissed the back of it, your way to apologizing for all that had happened.
“I’m just glad you’re okay.” You whispered against the back of his hand.
You stayed up talking to him for a few more hours, feeling too guilty to leave him alone. You didn’t remember falling asleep, but you felt yourself being shaken away many hours later.
“Y/n.” Dom whispered as your eyes opened. “Were you here all night?”
“I guess so.” You said through a yawn. “I didn’t want him to be alone.”
“That’s very kind of you.” Dom noted. “A very kind thing to do for a stranger.”
“What?” Your heart stopped. “You know?”
“I heard you talking to him last night.” Dom admitted. “I know you’re not really his fiancé.”
“I’m so sorry. Believe me, I’m mortified. I never meant for it to go this far.” You told him as you got up. “I’ll leave right away and never bother you again. And I’ll tell your family the truth.”
“Wait.” Dom stopped you. “You don’t have to go.”
“I don’t?”
“Tom is our firstborn. Nothing can replace the love you have for your first child.” Dom explained. “And while he’s unconscious, having you around is like having him around. You’re all Nikki has left of him right now. You’re a piece of him that she needs to hold on to until he’s awake. Telling her the truth will take him away all over again.”
“But I don’t even know him.” You reminded him. “He’s a regular at my coffee shop. That’s all.”
“You must have some connection to him. A stranger wouldn’t have spent the night by his bedside.” Dom said. “And you definitely wouldn’t have jumped down onto the tracks to save him if he was just a stranger.”
“You’re right. I wouldn’t have.” You admitted. “Look Dom, I really care about your son. But I’m not his fiancé. I can’t be his replacement.”
“That’s okay. Once he wakes up, you and I can tell everyone the truth together.” He offered. “But Nikki is having the time of her life planning your wedding. She’s been putting ideas together all morning. It’s the perfect distraction to keep her from thinking about Toms condition. Just keep the charade up a little longer. Please?”
“Okay.” You said after a minute. “Just a little longer.”
One month later
“Look! Matching pajamas for Tom and Y/n! He’s going to love them when he wakes up.” Nikki said as you held up the Christmas gift she got you.
“Thank you, Nikki. If I know Tom, and I do, I know he loves matching pajama sets.” You said through an awkward smile. “Dom, can I speak to you for a second?”
Dom followed you out of the room, where you quickly dropped your smile.
“You said a little longer.” You whispered harshly. “I have been pretending to be your sons fiancé for a month now. I have a stocking by your fire place!”
“I know, I know.” He said apologetically. “I thought he would wake up by now. I didn’t think it would go on this long.”
“Well he hasn’t woken up.” You reminded him. “And while he’s been sleeping, I’ve been wedding dress shopping with Nikki, I’ve driven Paddy to multiple football practices, I’ve come to all the Sunday dinners, and I had to watch Sam and Harry’s four hour magic show. With no intermission!”
“I know. I’m sorry.” He sighed. “No one knew “Twin-sanity” would be four hours long.”
“I’m in too deep. I can never tell them the truth now.” You whined as you peaked around the wall to see the family opening presents.
“I’ll tell them when they’re ready.” Dom promised you. “On the bright side, look how happy you’ve made them all.”
You looked around the wall again and saw Sam hanging an ornament on the Christmas tree. It was one of those ornaments that had all the names of the family listed on a bunch of frogs sitting on a log. Your name was on the ornament as well, a gift to celebrate your first Christmas with the family.
“Y/n, do you want to see a magic trick?” Harry called from his place by the tree.
“She can’t.” Paddy said. “She said she’d watch me practice football drills after dinner.”
“All of you are wrong.” Sam insisted. “Y/n and I are baking after this. She needs an excuse to wear the matching apron I got her.”
“They love you. And it’s Christmas Day.” Dom reminded you. “It’ll break their hearts to tell the truth now.”
“But what’s gonna happen when Tom wakes up and has no idea who I am?” You asked him.
“That’s not gonna happen for a long time.” Dom assured you. “He’s been in a coma for a month. Do you really think he’s gonna wake up in the new few days?”
A few days later
“Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone.” Nikki said as she came into the living room. “I just spoke to the hospital and I’ve got great news. Tom’s awake!”
“He’s awake?” Harry lit up.
“He’s awake?” You and Dom asked in unison as you looked at each other in fear.
“Yes.” Nikki clapped her hands. “We can all go see him now.”
“We can all go see him now?” You asked through a forged smile as you glared at Dom.
“It’s a miracle. Come on, Y/n. He’s gonna be so excited to see you.” Sam said as he pulled you off the couch by your hand. You gulped in fear as you got into the car with the family. Your heart raced the entire drive the hospital and on the walk to Tom’s room.
“Come on in.” The doctor smiled when he saw you all. “He’s been asking for you.”
You stayed behind the family as they piled into Tom’s room. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw him sitting up in bed, eyes finally open after a month.
“Hi, Tom.” Nikki said softly as she sat on his bed. “How are you feeling?”
“Thirsty.” He said as he licked his dry lips.
“Here you go.” Dom quickly handed him some water. “We’re so happy you’re finally awake.”
“How long have I been out?” He wondered.
“A little over a month.” Nikki told him.
“Wow.” His eyes widened. “An entire month?”
“Yeah.” Dom nodded. “You fell pretty hard.”
“Thanks for being here when I woke up. I’m happy to see you all.” Tom smiled as he looked around the room.
“Y/n?” His eyebrows furrowed when he saw you. You felt your heart stop as you didn’t even know he knew your name.
“Hi Tom.” You smiled weakly.
“What are you doing here?” His confusion grew as he struggled to sit up.
“Um..” You trailed off and looked at Dom for help.
“Honey, Y/n is your fiancé.” Nikki said slowly. “You remember that right?”
“My fiancé?” Tom frowned. “She’s not my fiancé.”
“Oh God.” You whispered as the family turned to look at you.
“Oh no. He has amnesia.” Dom gasped dramatically before winking at you. You gave him an angry glare as he continued the lie without consulting with you first.
“Amnesia?” Sam asked. “But he remembers us.”
“He probably has selective amnesia.” Dom continued. “He remembers us because we’re his family, but he probably can’t remember anything recent.”
“Right.” Harry looked at you skeptically. “Poor thing.”
“Don’t worry, baby. I’m sure his memory will come back soon. You just need to give him some time.” Nikki said as she rubbed your arm.
“Why don’t we give them a minute alone?”Paddy suggested. “Maybe that will jog his memory.”
The family agreed and left the room, leaving you and Tom with awkward silence.
“Here. I brought you some tea.” You said as you handed him the cup you had gotten him in the cafeteria.
“Oh, thank you.” He smiled warmly and took a sip. “You got my order right.”
“Well I make it everyday. Medium hot tea. Six sugars. For T.H.” You said softly as you sat down beside his bed.
“Right.” He smiled and looked down at his cup. “You always made it perfectly.”
The room fell silent again as you struggled with your next move. You had been keeping the lie up long enough and you knew you couldn’t keep it in much longer.
“I never liked black tea before you started making it for me.” Tom said after a minute.
“But you order it everyday.”
“The first time was an accident.” He admitted. “I didn’t know you could specify what kind of tea you wanted on the app. I was too nervous to say anything when I realized my order was wrong. But once I tried it, I liked it.”
“Oh.” You smiled a little at his confession.
“Or maybe I just liked you.” He shrugged without looking up at you.
“You know me?” You looked at him incredulously.
“Of course I do. You’re the cute barista that makes my tea every morning.” He said sheepishly as he toyed with his cup.
“How do you know I’m the one making it?”
“I only order it when I know you’re working. Why do you think I come in right after I place the order?” He asked you. “I’m always in the station already. I just want an excuse to go in and see you.”
“Really? I changed my schedule to morning shifts as an excuse to see you.” You told him.
“Are you serious?” He smiled and sat up a little.
“Yeah.” You chuckled. “All my coworkers tease me about my crush on you.”
“All my friends tease me about my crush on you.” He said excitedly.
“If you like me, why don’t you ever order in person?” You wondered. “That would give us a chance to actually speak.”
“I was working my way up to doing that. You just make me really nervous.” He admitted. “It took me a week to work up the courage to actually talk to you. Even then, the best I could come up with was “stay warm”. If I tried to order at the counter, I’d make a total fool out of myself.”
“You mean like I did when you talked to me?” You grimaced as you remembered your first conversation.
“I was the fool.” He shook his head. “I caught you off guard. I should’ve just gone up to the counter and ordered.”
“I wish you would’ve. I could’ve really impressed you with my vast knowledge of our holiday drink menu.” You joked.
“The last thing I remember is talking to you in the coffee shop.” Tom realized. “What happened after that?”
“Some guys on the tracks tried to jump you and steal your briefcase.” You told him.
“Did they succeed?”
“No. I threw a bagel at them and they ran off.” You chuckled. “Your briefcase is at home. I mean, your house.”
“Aw.” Tom smiled. “You saved me with a bagel. My hero.”
“I’m no hero.” You told him. “They picked up my bagel and threw it at you. That’s why you fell onto the tracks.”
“Oh.” Tom blinked. “Well I’m glad I woke up. Death by bagel sounds really embarrassing.”
“It was cinnamon raisin too.” You grimaced.
“Cinnamon raisin?” He gagged. “Disgusting.”
“So I’ve heard.” You chuckled and patted his hand. You let it linger for a moment until he flipped his hand around to lace his fingers through yours.
“What happened next?” He asked softly.
“I jumped down on the tracks and pulled you out of the way from the train. You’ve been in a coma ever since.”
“Wow. You saved my life.” He said seriously this time.
“You saved mine first.” You shrugged. “I kinda hated my job before you showed up. Seeing you everyday gave me something to look forward to.”
“You were always the best part of my day.” Tom smiled softly as he rubbed small circles on your hand.
“I could say the same about you.”
“Wait, when did I ask you to marry me?” Tom frowned. “I don’t remember that part. I thought about it a lot, but I don’t remember actually doing it.”
“You didn’t.” You sighed and dropped his hand. “I’m sorry about all of this. You must be so confused.”
“So we’re not getting married?” Tom asked, trying to conceal his disappointment as you got out of your chair.
“No. We’re not.” You told him. “This is the longest conversation we’ve ever had. It was all a huge misunderstanding with the nurse and now your family thinks we’re getting married.”
“Why didn’t you tell them the truth?” He wondered.
“I tried so many times.” You promised. “But your mom was so excited about the wedding and your dad didn’t want me to take that away from her.”
“My dad knows?”
“He heard me talking to you the first night you were in here. He’s known all along. He’s the one who convinced me to stay. Admittedly, it wasn’t very hard to convince me. I sort of fell in love with your family.”
“It seems like they fell in love with you back.” He said as he thought back to how they treated you. “Does anyone else know?”
“No.” You told him. “Which is shocking, because I spend just about everyday with them. I’ve been with your family longer than any of the others.”
“What do you mean?” Tom asked, and you stopped in your tracks. You didn’t mean to let that slip and now you had to tell him even more truth.
“I was a foster kid.” You admitted. “I’m used to bouncing around to different families. I just didn’t expect to get so attached to this one.”
“Whats gonna happen now that I’m awake?” Tom wondered. “They should know the truth.”
“They will.” You assured him. “Dom and I are gonna tell them everything.”
“But then what? What’s gonna happen to you? And…and to us?”
“I don’t know.” You shrugged and sat down again. “Your dad and I agreed that I’d leave you guys alone once you woke up.”
“You’re gonna leave so soon?” Toms heart sank. “But I just woke up. I haven’t even gotten to know you.”
“That’s why I have to go.” You smiled sadly. “I can’t imagine your family will want me around once they know I’ve been lying to them.”
“Oh. Okay.” He nodded in defeat. “But what if we-“
“Hey you two.” Dom interrupted as he knocked on the door. “Mind if I come in?”
“Sure.” Tom smiled tightly as he kept his eyes on you.
“I suppose you know the truth by now.” Dom said as he sat on the other side of the bed.
“He does.” You nodded. “I told him.”
“What do we do now?” Tom asked his dad.
“Now, I suppose we go back to normal.” Dom shrugged. “There’s no point in keeping up the charade now that Tom’s awake.”
“Right.” Tom said sadly.
“Don’t worry about telling the family.” Dom told you. “I’ll do it. I’m the one who made you stay.”
“Are you sure?” You asked him.
“I’m sure. I think it’ll be easier for them to understand if they hear it from me.”
“You’re probably right.” You sighed. “Thanks for doing it. I didn’t know how I was gonna be able to look them in the eyes and tell them I wasn’t gonna be around anymore.”
“I know. Hopefully they don’t miss you too much now that Tom’s awake.” Dom replied. “If you slip out tonight, you could make an easy break before I tell them. You should say your goodbyes to them now.”
“Okay. I will. Thanks for everything, Dom.” You said as you pulled him into a hug. Tom watched the two of you and felt his heart sink.
“I’ll miss you, sweetheart.” Dom patted your back. “It’s been lovely having you around.”
“I’ll miss you too.” You told him.
“I’ll give you two a minute to say goodbye.” Dom said as he glanced between you and Tom. Once he was out of the room, you and Tom exchanged crestfallen looks.
“Do you really have to go?” He asked softly. His eyes looked glassy in the hospital lighting, and you were sure yours were too. Before you could say anything, you heard cheering coming from outside.
“It’s midnight.” You smiled sadly when you looked at your watch. “Happy New Years.”
“Could you do me a favor before you go?” Tom asked.
“Anything.”
“Would you be my New Years kiss?” He smiled sheepishly. “I’ve missed the best holidays of the year and I wouldn’t want to miss out on-“
You cut him off by gently taking his face between your hands and pulling him into a kiss. You had imagined how your first kiss would be every time he came into the coffee shop, but you never expected it would be like this. He put his cold fingertips on your cheek as he kissed you back, silently willing you to stay a little while longer.
“Happy New Years, Tom.” You whispered against his lips.
“Happy New Years, Y/n.” He whispered back. Your eyes were shut, but he was still staring at you with soft, mournful eyes. You didn’t open your eyes as you got up and left the room, knowing it would be too hard if you looked at him. Tom watched out his room window as you hugged each member of his family. They had no idea it was a goodbye hug, and that’s probably why you made it last as long as you did. When it came to Nikki, you were at a lost for words as you held her as tight as you could.
“Do you have to go so soon?” She asked sadly.
“Yeah. It’s a work thing.” You lied. “They need me right away. I just wanted to say goodbye and tell you how much I appreciate you. I’ve really enjoyed spending time together.”
“So have I.” She smiled. “But what’s with the sentiments? I’ll see you tomorrow, won’t I?”
“Yeah.” You smiled tightly. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You left without another word and wiped your tears once you were in the car. You never imagined being in a situation like this and you didn’t know how to deal with it. You stared at the hospital with sad eyes, knowing Dom was somewhere inside, breaking the news to the family. You’d really grown to love them in the time you spent together and knowing you were leaving them forever hurt you deeply.
A few days later, you were back at work at the coffee shop. Things had gone back to normal in the week it had been since Tom woke up. You hadn’t heard from the Holland family since they learned the truth, but you didn’t blame them. You slumped over your register and kept your eyes down at the bell above the door rang, signaling that a customer had come in.
“Good morning. What can I get you?” You asked without looking up.
“One hand in marriage, please.” Tom’s voice rang in your ear as a dainty diamond ring was dropped into the tip jar. When you looked up, you saw Tom with his entire family standing behind him at your register.
“Tom?” You smiled in surprise. “What are you all doing here?”
“Once dad told us the truth and we got over our initial shock, we decided that we didn’t care if the engagement was fake. We still want you around.” Niki told you.
“I mean, I wasn’t really shocked.” Harry admitted. “I kinda figured it was fake. You never said anything personal about him. It was always vague, generic statements that could apply to anyone.”
“I knew too.” Sam confessed. “Did no one else hear her repeated attempts to tell us she wasn’t his fiancé on that first day?”
“The point is, we don’t care if you’re not really Tom’s fiancé.” Paddy cut in. “We still want you to be a part of our family.”
“Really?” You asked hopefully.
“Really.” Dom said. “You’re always welcome in our home. Even if you just come around for holidays.”
“Yeah.” Paddy nodded. “And my football games.”
“And we have a magic show next month.” Sam added. “No pressure. But I did reserve you a seat. Isle seat. Your favorite.”
“And we have a standing date at that tea spot next week.” Nikki remembered. “Also no pressure.”
“No pressure, huh? Then what’s this?” You asked as you took the ring out of the tip jar.
“It’s not actually an engagement ring.” Tom told you. “It’s a promise ring. I know you and I have done things a little backwards in our relationship-“
“Like getting engaged and then meeting.” Paddy mumbled.
“So if you let me, I’d like to take my fake fiancé on a real first date. And then several more. Possibly for the rest of our lives.” Tom proposed as he held the ring up.
“And if you realize that you prefer Tom when he’s asleep like the rest of us do and don’t want to date him, you can just marry me or Sam.” Harry said cheerfully.
“Or we can drop Tom off at a fire brigade and adopt you.” Paddy added. Tom shot his brothers a look before returning to you with a hopeful smile.
“Thanks for all the offers, guys.” You said to the boys. “But I think I’ll stick with Tom for now. I didn’t spend all that time talking to his comatose body for nothing.”
“Is that a yes?” Tom asked. “Will you go out with me?”
“Yes.” You grinned. “My answer is yes.”
Tom let out a happy sigh of relief before taking your hand. He slid the ring onto your ring finger before lifting your hand to his lips to kiss it.
“Yay! We finally got her back.” Nikki clapped her hands. “These last few days have been so boring without you, Y/n. I don’t know what we used to talk about before you came along.”
“Um, excuse me.” Tom laughed. “Are you forgetting I’ve been awake these past few days? I didn’t realize your first born waking up from his month long coma was boring. Seriously, when did you get my whole family to like you more than me?”
“It was while you were sleeping.” You said through a boastful smile. Tom smiled back before taking his scarf off his neck and looping it around yours. He tugged the ends of the to pull you closer to him until your foreheads were pressed together.
“Come here, darling.” Tom said. “You owe me an engagements worth of kisses.”

Wait a Damn Minute-Part 1
Summary: Nikki’s been sneaking out every night. Finally, he decides to introduce the Crüe to the reason for his late nights.
80s!Nikki Sixx x Reader
warnings: language
Tumblr media
“Hey has anybody seen Nikki? He’s been out since last night. Didn’t even join me at the fuckin Rainbow! That’s the 10th time in the last six months!” Tommy yelled to Vince and Mick on his way out of the kitchen, munching on a bag of chips to try and chill out the raging hangover.
“I don’t know where he is, I’m not his keeper,” Mick shouted in return before laying back down on the couch to try and get his nap to last just a little longer, but knowing Tommy Lee that wasn’t going to happen.
“You guys didn’t know? Our little bassist has himself a lady,” Vince stated with a smirk and a wiggle of his eyebrows causing both Mick and Tommy to raise their brows in confusion.
“And how would you know this, blondie? You don’t exactly pay attention to anything or anyone other than yourself,” Mick announced, still trying to sink further into the couch hoping it would swallow him and allow him to just get some fucking sleep.
“Oh it’s easy once you put together all the pieces. So first, he starts sneaking off at night after shows and doesn’t come home til the next day. Not super suspicious because which one of us hasn’t done that. But then, he starts turning down group trips to the Rainbow, we all know how much the Sixxter loves the Rainbow. But he knows that’ll make it too suspicious so he specifically starts quietly turning down our lady friends at the table because he needs us to think he wants to be there when really he wants to be with his friend,” Vince stated with a proud smirk while Tommy just stared, mouth agape, trying to figure out when the hell the singer became a detective.
“Blondie’s not that smart, willing to bet he just heard him talking on the phone calling someone baby and then called Sixx out on it,” Mick told Tommy as he got up from the couch to go grab a drink, his napping attempts futile at this point.
Tommy looked at Vince for confirmation and the blonde just shrugged his shoulders, “Yeah he’s right. But it was fun making you think you’d missed out on these big tells.” Tommy slapped Vince’s head in response.
Meanwhile
“Nikki, baby, you gotta stop. The boys are gonna get concerned if you don’t come back before the show tonight,” you managed to speak in between moans and deep kisses from the bassist. Nikki’s attempt to shut you up including sticking his tongue in your mouth and reaching his hand further up your shirt.
“Shhhhh, sweets. I don’t wanna talk about them. Besides, if they haven’t noticed it yet then they’re never gonna notice,” he whispered, moving his mouth below your ear to bite softly at the sensitive skin there.
“Honey, Vince already knows about me so at least one of them has noticed. And since when has that skinny blonde fucker ever been able to keep his mouth sh-OH, baby yessss,” your statement getting interrupted with a moan as Nikki began to bite and suck at your neck, leaving a nice sized bruise where his mouth was. Nikki pulled back, admiring his work before his eyes met yours, clouded by both lust and love.
Nikki reached a hand up to caress your face and move a piece of hair out of your eyes, his soft touch almost forcing your eyes closed for the thousandth time in the last twelve hours.
“About that…” Nikki started, bringing the conversation back to the boys, “I think it’s time I introduce you to them, officially. I wanna go public, kitten. No more sneakin around, no more pretending the other doesn’t exist. I want you openly, freely, at all hours of the day. What d’ya say, sweets? Think you wanna do this with me?”
Your eyes had begun to well up with tears during Nikki’s little speech. You had talked multiple times the last couple months of your relationship about when you’d finally be introduced to the Crüe as Nikki’s girl and it looks like the time had finally come.
“Of course I’m ready, baby. I wanna do the rest of life with you if I can. You know I’d burn this whole town down just to call you mine,” you said, your voice catching around the emotional lump in your throat. Nikki’s reaction was to burst into the biggest smile you had ever seen on the bassist’s face as he picked you up and swung you around as he babbled on and on about the plans for meeting the boys after their show tonight.
Later
After the show, Nikki met you outside to drive you back to the Crüe’s place to get changed, meet the guys and head to the after party at the Rainbow, your first official outing as a couple. The rest of the guys had already made it back when you and Nikki pulled up.
“Nikki you’re sure they’re gonna be okay with me?” you asked, not making eye contact with the bassist as you played with the skin around your fingernail.
“Hey, kitten. Look at me,” he responded softly, waiting to your eyes to match with his green ones, “it’s all gonna be okay. And if it’s not then fuck them. I love you,” he whispered causing you to take in a stuttering breath.
“Of all the times to say I love you for the first time you choose this one, Sixx?” you questioned in slight shock, his eyes widening as he realized what he has just said and he began sputtering, trying to backtrack on his statement causing you to grin on response. “It’s alright, bassist cause I love you too, you know that right? I just wasn’t expecting the first time we said these words to be outside your house, before I meet your friends.”
He grinned, leaning in to kiss you, “don’t worry baby girl, daddy’ll make it up to you later,” he whispered with a growl causing you to giggle as you rolled your eyes and pushed him off you.
“Alright, rockstar. Let’s get this over with,” you said, stepping out of the car. Nikki met you with an arm wrapped tight around your waist as he opened the door, immediately greeted with the sight of Vince and Mick drinking and doing a couple lines of cocaine.
“HEY! BASSIST, YOU MADE IT. WHO’S THIS HOTTIE!?” Vince bellowed after noticing you and Nikki.
“That’s obviously his girlfriend he wants to introduce to us you dipshit,” Mick said with a slightly annoyed tone as he offered you a small grin.
“Fellas, this is my girlfriend, YN. YN this is Mick Mars and Vince Neil,” Nikki stated, rubbing his hand in small circles on your back.
“A pleasure to meet you, YN. I understand now why Sixx kept you to himself for so long. You sure you don’t wanna ride on the Neil train?” Vince asked with a wiggle of his eyebrows causing everyone to groan. Mick went to say something but was cut off by Tommy walking to the common area.
“YN, that’s a cool name. Funny enough, that’s my sister’s na-,” Tommy announced as he entered the room making you grimace and close your eyes in anticipation of his reaction.
Tommy blinked. Looked between Nikki and YN. Blinked again. Rubbed his eyes. Looked at the bottle of Jack in his hands. Looked at Nikki’s arm wrapped securely around your waist. Blinked again.
“Wait a minute, that better just be a doppelgänger of YN and not my fucking sister, bassist…” Tommy trailed off, your face heating up. You knew this bit of the introductions probably wasn’t going to go well.
“Wait a damn minute…YN…like YN BASS! Tommy’s older sister!?” Vince yelled, not understanding the fuel he just added to the fire. Nikki’s arm slowly unwrapped from around your waist, anticipating his terror twin’s next actions.
“Feranna, you better fucking run, boy!” Tommy yelled as he charged at Nikki, the bassist running out the front door with a head start, leaving you behind shaking your head accompanied by an astonished and high as fuck blonde and an alien who just needed another fucking drink and a good nap.
“Well. That went about as well as expected. Hi Mick, Vince. I’m YN Bass, Tommy’s sister. Where can I get a drink while I wait for these idiots to fight it out?”

Summary: Kai has commitment issues, but one day while playing video games with Jay, those issues start to be resolved.

Word Count: 8,022
A/N: I have a headcanon that Kai is afraid of commitment and he and Skylor are FWB so I had fun with that idea and made it a plasma fic
Masterlist
When it comes to emotions, Kai is closed off. It’s why he’s so independent. It’s why it took him so long to find his true potential. It’s why he and Skylor are nothing more than friends with benefits. Nya’s the only person he’s ever been open with, and even then he keeps most things private.
“She asked me on a date. Can you believe that?! Me! On a date!” Kai laughed. He and Jay decided to go out for some pizza.
“Uh, yeah I can. I mean, dude, you’re hot. And not like Master of Fire hot, you’re hot hot.” Jay said with a mouth full of pizza. Kai blushed.
“Well I know that! I mean, I’d just be such a bad boyfriend. Not to mention, I don’t want to mess up what we already have going. It’s a good thing. It’s fun and there’s nothing tying us down, it’s perfect.” Kai said, feeling a bit more serious.
“You’re such a slut.” Jay joked.
Kai made a faux shocked expression and threw his crumpled up napkin at him. “Shut up!”
“But seriously, why does that surprise you? I mean, you two have been fuck buddies for, what? A month now? Why don’t you go out on an actual date and see how it goes?” Jay asked. Kai frowned at this question. He didn’t like romance, and he didn’t like talking about why he didn’t like romance.
“I don't know, Jay. it’s just not my thing.” He shrugged. “I'm not into the lovey dovey stuff. I'm more of a let’s have fun and nothing more. It’s easier that way.” He moved his gaze from Jay to the table.
“You’re really missing out. Relationships are the best! You get to cuddle and go on adventures together. Not to mention, you get to share your life with someone you care about and someone who cares about you.” Jay gushed. He was definitely a relationship kind of guy. Nothing made him happier than showing his love.
Except Jay’s reasons for loving relationships were the reasons Kai hated them. Sharing his life? Having someone care about him to that extent? Caring about someone to that extent? Absolutely not. When he thought about getting serious with someone, he gets jittery and anxious. He didn’t need anyone to know anything about him other than the basics. And he sure as hell, didn’t need to rely on someone that much. When you get into a relationship, you bring all your baggage with. Kai had too much baggage for anyone else to handle.
“Whatever, lovebird. I simply do not want to get into a relationship.” Kai said.
“it sounds like Skylor does, though. I think you’re going to have to be honest with her about where you stand. It’d be unfair to her if you didn’t.” Jay made a good point. It would be extremely unfair to keep his feelings to himself, despite how much he wanted to.
---
Kai and Jay met up in the Bounty’s living room almost every night for their midnight video game sessions. They liked playing with each other more than the others because they're both equally bad at it, but pretend that they're both equally good at it. Lately, they’ve been getting a little too loud, so they were trying their best to stay quiet tonight.
“FUCK YEAH! You lose again, sucker!” Kai shouted, jumping up from the couch in triumph.
Jay quickly pulled him back to the couch and covered his mouth. “Shhhhh, Sensei Wu is going to yell at us again! Or worse, Zane!”
“Oh whatever! I’m not scared of them. I got 5 wins in a row! That’s an all time low for you.” Kai smirked, shoving his hand away.
“Ughhh! I wanna play with Sensei, maybe then I'll win.” Jay whined. There was a pause in conversation as Kai set up the next round. Jay watched his face as he did. His features were beautifully defined by the fluorescent light of the TV. There was no denying that Kai was an attractive man. He had a sharp jawline and the most wonderful lips. And his hair! It was Jay’s favorite part about him, especially when it wasn’t gelled. It was fluffy and covered his eyes slightly. “Why do you always use so much hair gel? It looks good all natural.” Jay asked. He moved closer and reached out to touch it.
Kai looked over and pushed his hand away. “Why do you always use so much hair gel? It’s curly. Everyone loves curly hair. Total babe magnet.” Kai retorted. Now it was his turn to reach out and touch Jay’s hair. Jay didn’t push his hand away, however. He let him run his hand through it. “And it’s soft… damn.” Kai added, lowering his voice. He got lost in Jay’s hair. He ran his hand from the top of Jay’s head to the bottom of his ear and then paused. Jay looked up at him doe eyed. When their eyes met, Kai realized he might’ve played with it for a little too long. “C’mon,” He said, slapping his cheek softly, “We got another round of ass kicking to do.”
“Except this time, your ass is getting kicked!” Jay smirked with determination.
“In your dreams, nunchucks.”
As the game started, Jay did everything he could to mess Kai up. Near the end, when Kai was almost about to win, Jay lunged over and tried to take his controller. They both fought to have it. Kai was laughing and Jay was smiling so widely his face was hurting. Despite his efforts, Kai still came out victorious. “HA! You even cheated and I still won!” He cheered.
Jay frowned. “You suck! I’m usually good at this.” He crossed his arms and dramatically pouted.
“No you’re not!” Kai scoffed. “I beat you at everything. Even when we’re training!”
“That is so not true!” Jay defended.
“Bro, it totally is.” The two angled themselves so they were facing each other. Kai had his leg up and his arm lazily resting on his knee while Jay sat criss cross. Kai smirked as an idea popped into his head. “I can prove it.”
“Really? We’re doing this right now?” Jay asked with doubt in his voice.
“Yeah.” Kai responded with a wicked smile. Jay shrugged and decided a little tussle could be fun. They both sat up and Kai started counting down from 3. Once he said go, they lunged at each other. They were both on their knees and struggling to pin the other. Eventually, Jay pushed Kai into the couch. He protected himself by raising his arms up. The two wrested around like kids. When Jay realized Kai might actually win, he went for his weak spot.
Jay started attacking Kai’s sides. He started to laugh harder and harder as Jay tickled him mercilessly. “Stop! Stop!” He shouted between laughs. His stomach started hurting and he was losing his breath. He tried to squirm away, but the two ended up falling off the couch, Kai on top of Jay. He quickly pinned Jay’s arms above his head. “How well did that work out?” He smirked, his face completely red. He got close to Jay’s face and whispered, “I still won.”
“Oh yeah?” Jay whispered back. He flipped them over so quickly Kai got dizzy. Jay had each hand on either side of Kai’s head. “What about now?” He said in a low tone.
Something about Jay’s voice and the position they were in was doing something to Kai. He brought his hands to Jay’s sides, holding him in place. A shiver ran up Jay’s spine. “I yield. You win.” Kai said in a hushed voice, matching Jay’s low tone. Butterflies made their way into his stomach as Jay started bringing his face closer.
“Good.” He said with a smile that made Kai think new things about him.
He brought his hand to Jay’s face and slowly made his way to his hair. He moved a piece out of his face. “You really do have nice hair.” He smiled up at him, running his hand through it once again.
“Thanks.” Jay blushed. He was now feeling the same butterflies Kai was.
The atmosphere changed completely as the two looked at each other, neither making any effort to get off the floor. Kai was rubbing his thumb across Jay’s cheek lovingly. His thoughts were running crazy as he focused on Kai’s actions. His heartbeat quickened when he thought about all the ways this situation could end. He didn’t want to get off Kai and he knew by the strong hold Kai had on his torso that he didn’t want to move either. He wanted to take the moment past the point of no return.
Kai had the same thoughts floating around his head. Jay looked absolutely irresistible on top of him. He enjoyed their position more than he’d ever admit. He wanted to be closer, connected to Jay. He moved his hand to the back of his head, entangling his fingers with the curly mess of hair. His blood rushed as he thought about Jay’s lips on his. His gaze flickered between his eyes and lips. Instinctively, he pulled Jay’s head down. “Jay?” He said in a low questioning tone.
Jay smiled as he realized what was about to happen. “Yeah…?”
The two were startled apart by a loud slam that came from the sleeping quarters. They sat up and seconds later, Zane was at the doorway. “Can you two PLEASE be quiet?! We are all trying to sleep!” He shouted. “Nex time you guys wake me, I’ll break the video game console.” He threatened.
“Sorry Zane, we got caught up.” Jay said, helping Kai off the floor.
“A little too caught up.” Kai said under his breath, sending Jay a glance. The Master of Lightning returned the glance and a slight awkwardness fell over the group.
Zane deadpanned. “Right.” He rolled his eyes and left without a second word.
The boys looked at each other. The tension was thick and overwhelming. Neither knew where to go from here. Whether they wanted to talk about what almost happened or wanted to go ahead and let it happen, the words were lost. “Okay… so I guess we should go to bed?” Jay asked sheepishly, opting for the safest option of ignoring it entirely.
“Yeah… you go ahead though. I’ll turn off the game and stuff.” Kai responded, avoiding eye contact. When Jay left, he let out a big sigh. He didn’t know exactly how to feel about what went down, but he knew Zane’s interruption annoyed him. He wanted to kiss Jay. He really really wanted to kiss Jay. He’d never thought about him like that until then. Maybe he’s been overlooking Jay. He was cute and funny and they enjoyed each other's company. The lovey dovey stuff sounded appealing when he thought about doing it with Jay.
The idea brought a smile to Kai's face, at least for a little bit. The more he thought about an actual relationship, the more anxious he felt. The same kind of anxiety he felt when he thought about going any further with Skylor. Relationships made him feel vulnerable. He hated it. He didn’t want to give himself to anyone on an emotional level. He shook the thought out of his head and cleaned up the living room.
---
Ever since that night, the energy between Kai and Jay had been different. There was something in the air they couldn’t quite explain. Jay had been wearing his hair without any product more often and Kai had been making off-handed flirty comments every chance he got. Kai made off-handed flirty comments to all the ninja, but lately they have been saved for only Jay. Skylor also hadn’t been around lately. Kai wasn’t making any extra effort to avoid her, he was simply preoccupied with Jay. That, and Sensei Wu’s new investment.
“I still can’t believe you bought a random old building.” Cole groand, hauling boxes from the Bounty into the small shop. “What’s it for anyways?” He asked.
“My new business.” Wu said simply. Despite all the ninja’s pestering, that was all he told them. He enjoyed his secrets.
Cole dropped the boxes with a huff. “Can you two stop messing around and help us!” He shouted at Kai and Jay when he saw them playing around with empty boxes.
The boys ignored their friend and kept on the shenanigans. “Okay! Now try!” Jay laughed as he put an empty box on his head. Kai smiled devilishly and punched Jay in the head. He tried not to hit too hard, but Jay still ended up falling over. “Nope…” He muttered, “Cardboard makes for terrible armor.” He scratched his head and sat up slowly. He tried to get up, but he was feeling a little woozy.
“Sorry!! Here.” Kai smiled, offering his hand. Jay accepted gratefully and Kai pulled him up. “Your hair’s all messed up.” He said when Jay took the box off his head. Without a second thought, he fixed it for him. Jay sighed at his touch.
“Uh… has anyone else noticed those two have been awfully close lately?” Cole whispered to his other teammates.
“Hey… yeah. They have been spending, like, all their time together.” Lloyd commented.
“And Skylor hasn’t been around in a few days.” Zane added. The three boys watched as Kai played with Jay’s hair. “It is most peculiar.” He said.
“Those two have always had a weird little bond, but I think there’s something more going on…” Cole trailed off, turning away from the scene. He grabbed a box from the doorway and brought it further into the building. The others followed suit. Wu instructed them to take the boxes upstairs. Once there, they started unloading.
“Like what?” Lloyd asked.
“I never told you guys this, mostly because Jay said if I did, he’d ‘zap me into oblivion’,” Cole said with air quotes, “But he’s always had a little crush on Kai. Nothing big, though. Kai’s just… well, you know Kai. He’s funny, flirty, and easy on the eyes. How can you not have a crush on him? Except, Jay told me it was nothing but attraction.” He explained, putting various nicknacks onto shelves.
“If two people are attracted to each other, romance becomes highly probable.” Zane said. “If this is the case, the closeness makes perfect sense! Maybe they’re dating.”
“Not everyone moves as fast as you and Pixal, Zane. I’m sure if anything romantic is going on, it hasn’t gotten to that point.” Lloyd said. He collected the empty boxes and started breaking them down. “Besides, isn’t Kai dating Skylor?” He asked.
“Not dating, they’re only hooking up.” Zane said.
“Oh gross.” Lloyd cringed. “But that makes sense. Kai hates relationships. I figured he got over it because of Skylor but nope.” He added, making a disgusted face. “All Jay talks about is love and romance and all that junk, though. Guys, if we’re right, this isn’t going to end well.” He looked around at his brothers. Worry made its way on all of their faces.
“Lloyd would be correct, Kai is afraid of commitment. If feelings start to grow, disastrous consequences are sure to follow.” Zane said.
They were pulled out of conversation when an unfamiliar car drove up to the building. They walked outside to see Skylor hugging Kai. She had brought lunch for everyone. “Thanks, Skylor!” Kai cheered, pulling away from the hug. Cole immediately ran over to all the food she brought, all thoughts leaving his mind.
“Nice to see you guys. It’s been a while.” Skylor smiled. She grabbed Kai’s hand and intertwined their fingers. A surge of anxiety flew through him as she did. He tried to ignore it, but he began to sweat. He knew she wanted something more and he didn’t. He needed to tell her how he was feeling before she started to think otherwise.
Zane watched as a frown appeared on Jay’s face. His eyes were dead set on Kai and Skylor’s hands. “Are you alright, friend?” Zane asked him, resting his hand on his shoulder.
“Uhm, yeah. Yeah I’m fine.” Jay cleared his throat. It was as Zane feared. Jay’s feelings have grown stronger.
---
Skylor spent the rest of the day with the ninja, and ended it in Kai’s bed. The two snuck away to the bounty as everyone else mingled in what Wu finally told them was a tea shop.
“Now that’s what I call fun.” She smirked as she got out of the bed. Her face was flushed and her hair was messy. She went to the mirror and put it back up into her signature ponytail before gathering the clothes they threw around.
“It’s always fun when you’re with me, baby.” Kai said with a wink and cocky smile. He smirked as he watched her get dressed. “You have to come around more often.” He added, getting out of the bed himself.
“Maybe we could go out next time.” Skylor suggested, throwing his boxers at him. Kai’s smile left. “There’s a new restaurant opening up in Ninjago City. We could check it out.”
“Yeah totally! I could see if the guys or even Nya wanted to join us. It could be a whole group outing.” Kai responded. He tries his best to reject any plans that could be interpreted as a date. It wasn’t the first time the two had an interaction like this, and Skylor was getting fed up.
“Kai. What’s going on here?” She asked bluntly. By this point, she was fully dressed and a little pissed off.
“What do you mean? We’re just two friends having fun. Nothing more.” Kai said as if it was obvious. He put on his pants and his nerves started to grow. He was putting on his cool guy persona, but Skylor wasn’t having it.
“That’s all? Just friends?” She whispered, walking closer to him. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close.  “...Are you sure?” Her voice was low and smooth. It drove Kai crazy. She left a trail of heated kisses on his neck.
He closed his eyes as he tried not to focus on her actions. He knew she was trying to get him to say what she wanted to hear, but he couldn’t lie. “Yes. That’s all we are.” He finally said, shrugging her away. Guilt washed over him as he saw her shocked reaction.
“Really? Kai, I like you. I like you a lot. I don’t want to be the ghost in your bed anymore. I want to be more than that.” She responded, exhaust in her voice. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her arms were crossed. She could see Kai trying to calculate a response. “Are we ever going to be more than ‘friends who have fun’ or whatever you like to call it?” She said with a stern expression. Despite her attempts to hide behind a tough exterior, her voice cracked. She felt like crying. She had wasted a month of her life chasing after the unattainable.
“Skylor…” Kai trialled off. He reached out for her, but she backed away. “I…” He tried to find a way to explain, but his lack of words and reserved body language was enough for Skylor. She had her answer.
“Have a good night, Kai.” She said straight faced. “I’ll see you around.” With that, The Master of Amber left, presumably for good.
---
Kai returned to his family in far worse of a mood than when he left. The lights were dim and the soft hum of music was playing throughout the shop. The ninja as well as Wu, Misako, and Nya were laughing and chatting with warm tea in their hands and smiles on their faces. Kai’s dampened presence did not go unnoticed. “Hey buddy! Woah… are you okay?” Cole’s smile left as he saw Kai walk in.
“Yeah…” Kai croaked. He grabbed some tea for himself and joined the party.
“Where’s Skylor?” Wu asked.
“She… uh. She went home.” Kai got lost in his emotions for a second. His frown grew bigger as he thought about how he acted. He wished he could go back and be honest with her. He was kicking himself for it. This kind of stuff happened often. Feelings get hurt when emotions grow big. Usually, Kai was the one hurting feelings. He stopped his thoughts before they became too dark. He shook his head and put on a fake smile, “What are we talking about?”
Chatter started back up in no time. Kai tried his best to engage, and he was doing a pretty good job at it; at seeming like nothing was amiss. He ignored all his thoughts of Skylor and listened intently to Misako’s stories of Wu and Garmadon’s teenage years. Jay however, could see right through Kai. He figured things between him and Skylor were finally over. A spark of hope struck in his stomach.
Unlike Kai, Jay was very intune with his emotions. He couldn’t deny his budding affections for the brunette. He had been putting a little extra effort into their friendship ever since the game night because of it. And his efforts were not in vain. The two had never been closer. Sometimes, Jay toyed with the idea of his affections being returned. Kai had been extra flirty and extra touchy lately. In his heart, he saw the two ending up together, but in his mind, he saw no such thing.
He knew Kai was in no mindset for a relationship, but he couldn’t understand why. Jay loved loving people. He had only been in 2 serious relationships in his lifetime, but each one he held near and dear. The first was a sweet girl from his hometown. She taught him how to express his emotions. She was the first person he shared his truest feelings with. He learned how to be vulnerable with her and everyone else in his life. The second was a boy he met in a small shop in Ninjago City. He helped him come to terms with his bisexuality and even aided in his coming out. He learned how to be himself and be comfortable with who he was.
No matter how the relationships ended, no matter the hardships or any pain that might have come with, Jay was grateful for his exes. Without them, he wouldn’t be the person he is today. He couldn't wrap his head around why anyone would want to miss out on such an enriching part of life.
Jay walked over to Kai and rested his hand on his shoulder. “You’re not okay.” He whispered. Kai gave him a glance that confirmed his statement. “Want to go hang out somewhere private?” Kai nodded and the two silently left the comradery. Zane, Cole, and Lloyd shared a knowing glance as they walked away.
---
“I’m guessing things didn’t go well with Skylor?” Was the first question of many Jay asked when he and Kai arrived in the Bounty’s living room. The two sat down on the floor on either side of the coffee table.
“She asked if I wanted to go to a restaurant with her and I said no.” Kai shrugged. He wanted to tell Jay everything. He wanted to tell him about how he felt awful for not giving Skylor a reason for his rejection, or how he wished he could give her what she wanted but something in his heart tells him no everytime he gets too close to someone, or how he’s been thinking an awful lot about Jay himself. He wanted to tell him that he was only upset that he hurt Skylor. He didn’t care that their fling was over because the game night stuck with him. He wanted to tell Jay that he wanted to kiss him and not her. He wanted to be close to him and not her. He wanted to go out with him and not her. But he couldn’t.
“You’re being vague.” Jay pointed out. He knew Kai didn’t like discussing emotions, but he was determined to get him talking anyways.
“She asked if we were going to be more than friends with benefits and I said no and then she left.” Kai told him. He didn’t say anything else, because there wasn’t anything else he deemed worthwhile.
“That’s still vague. Did you at least tell her why?” Jay asked.
“... no.” Kai sighed.
“Why don’t you want to go out with her?” Jay asked. Kai furrowed his eyebrows. He was starting to get annoyed with the interrogation.
“I don’t know.” He responded with a touch of anger in his voice. It was a flat out lie, and Jay knew it.
“Yeah you do, dude. Why don’t you want to go out with her?” He repeated.
“I don’t fucking know, Jay.” Kai said through gritted teeth. He was clenching his fists and avoiding eye contact. Of course, anger didn’t have to be his response. Kai could’ve told him it was because he had fond feelings for another, or because she wasn’t what he was looking for, or because he wasn’t ready for a relationship, or he could’ve laid it all out on the table and explained the full extent of his commitment issues, but he didn’t. He got angry.
Jay should’ve taken it as a sign to stop questioning him, but he didn’t. “Yes. You. Do. Why don’t you want to tell me? Is it really that bad?” Jay continued.
“It’s none of your goddamn business. Would you please stop cornering me?!” He shouted, shooting up from his spot on the floor.
“No! Why are you bottling this up?! If you just talk about it--”
“I don't need to explain myself!” He cut Jay off. “Not to Skylor and especially not to my teammate who thinks crying and whining about life’s problems makes them go away! This whole ‘share your feelings and you can heal’ thing is bullshit. It doesn’t work. It just burdens whoever you’re telling AND scares them away. No one needs to deal with my baggage, you fucking lightning rod.” Kai spat. He was too angry to care about Jay’s hurt expression. He walked out without another word.
Jay only felt bad because he pissed Kai off. He actually thought ‘lightning rod’ was a clever insult and despite Kai not telling him anything, he said a lot about himself. Jay was an intuitive person. Kai gave him just enough to work off of.
---
The next day it was pretty awkward between the two. They cleaned and unpacked around the shop with little to no conversation. By nightfall, Kai was sick of it. It was dumb to hold a grudge against someone who only wanted to help. He asked Jay to play video games at midnight per tradition and he happily agreed.
“I wanted to start by saying sorry. I didn’t mean to lose my temper yesterday.” Kai told Jay as he set up the game.
“Don’t sweat it. I was being a little pushy. I should’ve known when to stop.” He sighed, handing him his controller. The two decided to play a game where they had to work together instead of fight each other for the night.
“I guess I just don’t like to talk about that kind of stuff.” Kai felt guilty. He pulled his knees to his chest and found a position he could comfortably play in.
“If you ever wanted to, I’m always here to listen. It wouldn’t burden me in any way.” Jay said with consideration for his words. He was hoping Kai would find comfort in him. As much as he wanted to pretend like his attempts to be there for Kai were, in fact, for Kai, he couldn’t ignore his selfish motivation. He wanted to know why Kai was so off put by relationships. He wanted to know if there was a chance for change. He wanted to know if there was a chance for them.
“Thanks.” Kai sadly smiled. They turned away from each other and started the game. He took a deep breath as he thought about what Jay said. Maybe he did want to talk. He kept everything inside, and it had been weighing on him. None of the ninja fully knew his past. He had never thought about that before, the fact that none of his closest friends truly knew him.
Without a second thought he muttered, “I don’t want to get hurt,” in the middle of a level.
“What?” Jay asked, not moving his gaze from the TV.
“I don’t want to get into a relationship because I don’t want to get hurt.” He repeated. Jay paused the game and looked at him.
“Oh.” He said. “Did something happen in the past… or something?” He asked quietly. He knew it was a risky move to ask something like that, but he couldn’t help himself. Anxiety started building when Kai unpaused the game without answering.
“Yeah and I want to avoid it happening again.” Kai shrugged a few moments later.
Jay smiled to himself. “I’m glad you told me.” He said softly.
“Sure, whatever. Help me kill this guy!” Kai shouted, moving past the vulnerable moment as quickly as possible. Jay felt a warm fuzzy feeling in his chest. He was beyond stoked that Kai felt comfortable enough to open up, even if it was only a crack. There is a chance for change.
The two became totally immersed in the game. Somehow, they ended up closer together on the couch than when they started. Their shoulders were completely flush. Both were aware of it and neither were complaining.
“GET HIM!! GET HIM!” Jay shouted. They had made it to the final boss in the game and he was absolutely determined to beat it.
“I’M GETTING HIM!” Kai shouted back.
The two combined their strengths and by the end of the battle, they were the victors. “FUCK YEAH!” The two cheered simultaneously, jumping off the couch and pulling each other into a hug. The hug lasted longer than it should’ve. Jay was holding on tight to Kai’s waist, while Kai had his arms wrapped around Jay’s shoulders. One hand was on the back of Jay’s head and his fingers were entangled with his hair. Jay smiled softly. He loved being close to Kai. He loved the way he was playing with his hair. He loved how he could feel his breath on his neck. He loved how his knees were bent slightly because of how tall he was. Jay never wanted to let go.
Kai took a deep breath in and relaxed into the embrace. It had been a long time since he had been held like that. It was intimate in a way he wasn’t used to. He nuzzled his head further into Jay’s shoulder and Jay tightened his grip. Kai never wanted to let go.
He started to feel a little misty eyed. He didn’t totally understand why he suddenly became emotional. Something about the hug lit a match in him. He sniffled quietly. “Are you okay?” Jay asked, pulling away just enough so he could see Kai’s face. His cheeks had a soft pink tint to them and his eyes were closed, but he was smiling.
“Yeah, Yeah. I’m okay.” Kai cleared his throat and opened his eyes to look up at Jay. “I’m okay.” He repeated.
Jay smiled back, “Good.” His word choice made Kai think back to the last time they played video games together. When Jay was on top of him and they were about to kiss. He started blushing. Butterflies bubbled in his stomach as he thought about making a stupid decion. He moved his hand to Jay’s cheek.
“What?” Jay whispered, noticing Kai’s growing grin. Without warning, Kai brought Jay’s face close and pressed a kiss to his lips. Jay pulled away in surprise.
The two looked at eachother wide-eyed. “Oh god… uh… I’m sorry. I don’t know why I just did that--” Kai rambled, backing away. “I’m sor--”
Jay stopped Kai’s apology by grabbing his shirt and reconnecting their lips. “Don’t be.” He whispered into the kiss. He wrapped his arms around Kai’s neck, keeping him close.
Heat built between the two as Kai pulled Jay’s waist against his. A small gasp fell from Jay at the contact. He shifted so he could press lazy kisses along Kai’s jawline and down his neck. Kai’s head fell back as he focused on a spot below his ear. He swiped his tongue across the area before sucking softly, eliciting a quiet moan from Kai.
The two make their way to the couch, Kai pinning Jay down. Their lips stayed connected as Kai positioned himself between Jay’s legs. He held onto Jay’s thigh as he moved from his lips to his collarbone. Jay’s mind started wandering as Kai’s hands wandered his body. Doubt seeped into his thoughts as he remembered all the things Kai says about romance and relationships. Kai lifted his shirt, revealing his freckled skin. He trailed hot kisses down Jay’s torso.
“Kai.” Jay whispered as Kai reached his navel. He started to feel overwhelmed. He knew this would be a bad idea considering Kai’s raging commitment issues and Jay’s strict monogamous patterns. He didn’t want him to get the wrong idea. He didn’t want to end up like Skylor. “Kai.” He repeated in a louder tone, making the Master of Fire stop his actions.
“Yeah? Are you okay?” Kai panted.
He started sitting up, effectively making Kai move aside. “I can’t do this.” He sighed.
“Okay.” Kai replied. He leaned into the back of the couch and tried not to overthink. “That’s okay.” He said quietly.
“Despite how sexy you are and how hot that was, I can’t.” Jay joked in an attempt to lighten the atmosphere.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s probably for the best.” Kai responded with a little chuckle. He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know how he was feeling or where to go now, but he wanted to know where Jay was coming from. “Just out of curiosity… why not?” He asked, nervous to hear the answer.
“I’m not a one night stand kind of guy.” Jay responded, looking over to him.
Kai felt his heart sink. He didn’t want Jay to be a one night stand and he didn’t like the fact that Jay thought that’s what would come of them. Of course, Kai couldn’t blame him for thinking that. He knew what his past looked like to others. He saddened at the thought of Jay seeing him as someone who only wants sex and nothing more. “I’m sorry.” He muttered after what felt like forever. He truly didn’t know what to say. He knew what he was thinking, but he didn’t know how to explain.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry, too.” Jay whispered back. “I think I’m going to go to sleep.” He added, getting off the couch. Kai nodded, avoiding his gaze. He left without another word.
---
Kai tossed and turned the entire night. He couldn’t get the thought of Jay out of his mind, no matter how hard he tried. He felt hot and sweaty as he racked his brain around the day. Something was different in him. He couldn’t figure out what exactly.
He was starting to think he liked Jay. Not in the way he liked Skylor, but in the way Skylor liked him. He loved the way he kissed him. He loved feeling his lips on his skin and his hands on his body, but he also loved how he hugged him. How he held him close and didn’t let go. How his warmth brought him comfort. And shockingly, he loved how it felt when he was open with him.
As much as it pained him to admit that Jay was right, Jay was right. Letting that tiny bit of vulnerability show felt amazing. It made him want to tell Jay everything. It made him want to unload his baggage. It made him want to learn about Jay’s baggage. He wanted to know why he liked relationships so much, what his childhood was like, and how he felt when he first became a ninja and what his favorite TV show was, and what villain he liked defeating the most. He wanted to tell Jay what his childhood was like, and how it felt when he first became a ninja, and what his favorite TV show was, and what villain he liked defeating the most.
He wanted Jay in all ways possible. He just didn’t know how to tell him.
Jay on the other hand, fell asleep rather quickly. He was exhausted, drained. When he got to his room, he cried a little. Nothing big, simply a few tears. He felt awful for what happened. He shouldn’t have kissed back. He shouldn’t have let it go as far as it did. He didn’t want to screw up his friendship, but he also didn’t want to screw up himself.
He knew full well that Kai was afraid of commitment, and he knew full well it would be a devastating move to think he could change that. He attempted to burn away any sort of hope he had, but even the biggest fires couldn’t diminish the small amount he kept in the back of his head.
---
“How do you make a romantic gesture?” Kai asked his friends who were enjoying their breakfast.
“Uhhh… Why?” Lloyd asked, taking a bite of whatever dish Zane made that morning.
“Doesn’t matter. How do you do it?” He asked again, sitting down at the kitchen table.
“You are looking at the wrong ninja. I know very few things about romance.” Lloyd said. “Zane’s the one with a girlfriend.” He added, gesturing to the cook.
“I’ve never made any ‘gestures’ as you call them.” Zane responded with a shrug. “Oh! wait…” He paused and pressed a few buttons on his arm.
“He gave me his heart.” Pixal’s voice came from Zane. “I’d say that was a pretty romantic gesture, honey.” She said. Zane smiled. He filled a plate with food and gave it to Kai who happily took it.
“I don’t think I can give someone my heart, I kind of need it to… uh… live?” Kai said.
“There’s ways you can give someone your heart without literally giving them your heart.” Cole chimed in. “Also, who are you trying to woo?” He added.
“Okay, dude, I don’t understand.” Kai said, completely ignoring Cole’s question. “C’mon guys! This is important!” He was clearly starting to get frustrated.
“He means you can show vulnerability to this person. The heart's a vital organ. It is meant to be protected and cared for. It is also the symbol of love. Giving someone your heart shows that person that you trust them not to hurt it.” Zane explained.
Kai didn’t like that. He hasn’t trusted someone like that in years.  “Right… okay, so… I just… what? Tell them something? I have no idea what I’m doing, guys.” Kai sighed. Anxiety started running as he thought about what he was going to do.
“I think you could straight up tell them you want to be with them? That would be pretty vulnerable… for you at least.” Lloyd said with a chuckle.
“Yeah yeah yeah I get it. I’m not good with vulnerability. That’s why I came to you all.” Kai rolled his eyes.
“This would be so much easier if we knew who you wanted to be with.” Cole muttered. Kai glared at him. “Okay fine! Don’t tell us, but can you even give them your heart? Do you trust them?” he asked.
Kai thought about it for a moment. Of course he trusted Jay. He trusted him to have his back in battle, and to show up on time when they go out to eat, and things like that, but he didn’t know if he could ever trust someone not to break his heart, no matter who they were. He simply can’t handle emotional pain. “I don’t know.” He finally said.
“I think you need to ask yourself why before you start thinking of a romantic gesture.” Zane said.
---
“You left your phone here.” Kai told his partner, holding up their phone. The two were standing in the blacksmith shop after closing.
“Oh… thanks.” They smiled. They reached out to take it, but Kai backed up.
“Yeah… it was buzzing all night. Who’s this?” He asked, showing them the texts upon texts from someone Kai didn't know. All texts were things Kai would say to them. Calling them baby, wink emoticons, and sexy innuendos.
Kai’s partner stared at him wide eyed. “Did you go through my phone?” They asked, anger lacing their words. They reached once again, but Kai took another step back. “Kai, give me my phone.”
“Are you cheating on me?” He asked, tears forming. When they stayed silent he asked again.
“Yeah.” They sighed. Kai felt his entire body break. He shut his eyes tight and a few tears fell.
“... Why?” He croaked.
“Because, Kai. I don’t want you.” They responded, little emotion in their words.
Kai looked at them with confused sad puppy dog eyes. “What?” He made no effort to hide his tears.
“You’re not enough. I’m not getting what I need from you. Not to mention all you do is whine about how hard your life has been. Fun fact: everyone’s life is hard. Get over it and stop burdening those around you.” They spat. Their arms were crossed and there was no emotion behind their eyes. Kai threw their phone at them and they caught it. “Sorry, but I can’t handle you anymore.” They added.
“Please go.” He whispered. They obeyed and left without another word. Once they were gone Kai completely broke down. That night was spent in a puddle of tears. For days, Nya tried her best to console her brother to little avail. 3 weeks later, a strange man with a walking stick and long beard visited the shop with a proposition.
---
No one but Nya knew about Kai’s ex. He didn’t share that time in his life with anyone. It was the worst he’s ever felt. Someone he loved ruined him, broke him. For weeks the pain consumed him. If it wasn’t for Sensei Wu, he doesn’t know what would have come of him.  He was scared it would happen again down the line. He figured the best way to avoid it was to put up walls. Lately those walls have been getting damaged. He was starting to think it was time to let them break.
He spent all day trying to figure out what he was going to do. He really did want to overcome this problem of his, and he wanted to do it with Jay; for Jay. Simply talking to him was completely out of the question. He wasn’t strong enough to tell Jay what he needed to know face to face. After racking his brain around it over and over again he finally got an idea.
“Hey sis?” Kai knocked quietly on Nya’s bedroom door.
“Yeah? Come in.” She shouted through the door. When Kai entered, he saw her on her bed reading a book about water. “Did you know water is considered sticky?” She asked with a smile on her face.
“Uh no I didn’t. That’s kind of cool though.” He responded, taking a few steps into the room. “I was wondering if I could borrow your stationary stuff?” He asked. A few months ago, Nya got really into writing letters and using fancy stationery supplies. Most of her letters are to no one, but she enjoys writing them nonetheless.
“Sure. What for?” She asked. She got off her bed and rummaged around in her closet.
“I want to send a letter and I want it to look nice.” He responded simply.
She turned back to her brother with a rather large wooden box. “Okay. Just don’t break anything.” She smiled, handing it to him.
“I won't.” He smiled back. A sense of relief fell over him when she didn’t ask any questions. “Thanks.” He added before going to the living room.
Jay wanted to know what happened, Kai was going to tell him what happened. He swallowed his anxiety and got to work.
---
A few days after Jay and Kai kissed, Jay was getting ready to go to sleep when he found a letter on his bed. It was sealed with pink and red wax with an intricate heart stamped in the middle. The paper was a soft yellow color and his name was written in calligraphy on the front. It was quite beautiful.
Confused, he sat down and read the letter.
Jay,
I know this is weird and very out of character for me, but I have to tell you something and this was the only way I felt I could do it. Mostly because, as you know, I’m shit with showing emotion. It was easier to write to you than to speak out loud. So, I guess I’m just going to rip off the bandaid.
I was in a relationship before I became a ninja. We were together for a year, until I found out they cheated on me. They were the first person I ever loved. I can’t explain how awful it felt to hear that they didn’t want me anymore. In simple terms, it broke me.
They told me I complained about my issues too much and that it was burdening them, which I guess made me think I had to hide to keep people from leaving me. I never wanted to burden anyone ever again, so I never talked about what’s going on with me or what my past looks like anymore. I put walls up to avoid a repeat of history. I never trusted anyone enough to give them my heart after that.
I hate saying this, but you were right. Talking about issues and emotions does help you heal. I learned that when I first told you I didn’t want to get hurt.
The truth is, I’m not a one night stand kind of guy. At least, I don’t want to be. The way you hugged me a few nights ago has made me rethink everything about myself and how I view romance. It was unbelievably refreshing to feel a connection like that. I hope you felt it too.
I think it cracked my walls. I think you cracked my walls. Ever since we met, you have been my best friend. I love joking around with you and fighting bad guys together and training and eating pizza together and kicking your ass on video games. I’m always smiling when I’m with you.
I want these walls down. I want to give you my heart.
I don’t know how you’re feeling about all this, and I’m terrified that I’m scaring you away, but I wanted to ask you on a date. An honest to god real date where we go out to eat in the rich part of the city or something like that.
I’ll be in the downstairs training room if you want to talk.
Kai
After finishing the letter, Jay finally understood Kai and his reasons for disliking romance. It all made sense.
He immediately made his way to the training room. He found Kai sitting on one of the courses. “Hey…” Jay whispered, walking into the room. Kai stood up and their eyes met.
“Hey…” He said. Anxiety was written all over his face.
“I got your letter.” Jay stated, closing the door.
“And…?” Kai was holding his breath.
Jay walked over to the brunette. He hesitantly cupped his cheeks and planted a sweet kiss on his lips. “I would love to go on a date with you.” He grinned.
“Oh thank fuck.” Kai smiled brightly, letting out the breath he was holding. Jay giggled and pulled him into a hug.
“I did feel it too, by the way.” Jay whispered into his ear, prompting Kai to tighten his grip.

‘When I was nineteen, pureness was the great issue...I saw the world divided into people who had slept with somebody and people who hadn’t, and this seemed the only really significant difference between one person and another. I thought a spectacular change would come over me the day I crossed the boundary line.’
You read and reread the paragraph. You couldn’t help it. The first time you read that book, you just didn’t get the cynicism. There were still parts you couldn’t quite relate to. But that passage sank into you like a pebble in water. You felt changed already and after something so little.
You hadn’t seen Lee since Saturday. He had your number now and called at night. A few times, there was noise in the background; people, cars, life. You realised he must’ve been at a payphone, taking a moment away from his patrol. That was another thing about him; he felt so established, so wise, and that made you feel even less.
When the phone began to ring that night, you ignored it. And when it stopped, you picked up the receiver and dialed the only number you knew. Your mom picked up and you heard the sink running in the background. She was always busy when you called.
“Mom,” you said, “it’s me.”
“Oh, hi, dear,” she replied in her creaky tone, “how are you? Oh, is something wrong?”
“Um… I’m okay, I just wanted to call, I…” you thought of telling her about Lee but you weren’t really sure how. You weren’t even sure why you called her, only that you felt alone. “I miss you and daddy.”
“We miss you, too,” you heard her steps and her grunt as she stretched the cord and twisted off the faucet. “He’s been working hard down at the steel yard and he’s so proud. All the other men tell him to hush up when he brags about you.”
“Yeah? I… I’m working hard. Got an A on my last paper,” you played with the coiled cord.
“That’s great, dear,” she chimed, “are you sure you’re okay? You sound tired.”
“I am tired,” you said, “that’s all. Studying and all that.”
“I hope so. I wouldn’t want you going out late to one of those parties,” she tittered, “Noreen’s son got arrested at one of those and spent a night in jail. They spent their mortgage to get him out.”
“No, no, I don’t, um, go to parties,” you assured, not adding that no one would even think to invite you to one.
“Oh, dear, I’m sorry, I’ll have to call back tomorrow,” she sighed as you heard the door clamour, “your father’s so intent on hurting himself these days.”
“Okay, um, it’s alright, I’ll talk later, love y--” the phone went dead and you listened to the dull tone.
You put the receiver back in the cradle and tapped your fingers on your lips. You picked up your book and sat back on your bed. You couldn’t focus on the words though as your mind lingered on the familiar sounds of home. You missed it terribly. You just wanted to take the bus and go hide in your old childhood bed.
The phone rang again. You knew it wasn’t your mother. You left it and when it silenced, there was only a second before it started again. You waited until the next lull and moved the receiver off the cradle and let the low hum rise from the speaker. You kept it off the hook and closed your book.
You didn’t want to deal with any of that today. Not Lee, not Plath, not the plague of woes that roiled your stomach. You flopped onto your bed and pulled your pillow over your head. You weren’t going to think again until your morning lecture.
📚
You sat near the front of the hall with your elbow on the small fold-out desk. You swirled your pen lazily in the air as you listened to the professor expound on the flaws of historical revisionism. He wasn’t the type to entertain questions or comments, he merely ranted and expected you to note those few words of value amidst the sea of thoughts.
You yawned, exhausted despite an early night. You felt empty and drained those last four days. Ever since…
You didn’t think about it. Tried not to even as it tugged at your mind. When the memory managed to poke through, you felt the same tingle between your legs and your cheeks burned in humiliation.
How had you let it happen? How could you let yourself do that?
You were so confused by it all. How could it be wrong if Lee said it was right? He was older, he was a cop, and he knew much more than you. You never even kissed a boy before him and he was so confident in everything he did that he must be doing it all right.
Besides, after everything, if you refused him, you’d have only been leading him on and using him for his kindness, even if you didn’t realise what you were doing. Because what you did know was that he was a man and you were a woman and that he was doing nice things for you. And you accepted them all. The least you could do was bide his affection. That was the age old exchange, was it not?
“Next week, we’ll review chapters five and six,” the professor’s tone piqued as his ramble subsided, “I expect a class discussion and you can expect ten percent of your mark to be evaluated from your contribution and I will know if you just ‘skimmed’ the introduction.’
The class grumbled as he dismissed you and you stood slowly, stretching the cramp from your leg. You packed up your bag and hauled it on your shoulder. You had a gap between that class and your afternoon publishing class. You trailed out behind the flow of chattering students but found many of them lowered their voices as they came out into the hall.
There voices fell to whispers as they entered the hall. The sight of a brown hat assured you of the reason. Sheriff Bodecker stood against the painted brick and watched the students pass by, each eyeing him nervously and some chuckling under their breaths nervously. You tried to hide behind a taller student but your name tripped you up.
Despite your efforts to maintain your invisibility, he’d spotted you and you knew you could run away. Several of your peers craned around to watch you, no doubt suspecting some trouble on your part. You dragged your feet and stepped out of the tide of fleeing co-eds to stand along the wall with Lee.
“Hi,” you said quietly.
“Young lady,” he said staunchly and kept his eyes on the other students, nodding at them darkly as they passed.
He waited until the hall was empty before he turned on you. You fidgeted and caught your bag as it slipped from your shoulder. Your thoughts wrinkled above your brow and you stared at his brown leather shoes.
“How did you… find me here?”
He was silent as he reached in his jacket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. He opened it and showed you a print-out of your schedule.
“Easy enough,” he tapped his badge nonchalantly, “I was worried. You didn’t answer last night.”
“I fell asleep early,” you said weakly, “morning lecture, you know?”
“Mmm,” he hummed, “not that early.”
“I’m sorry, I was sleep--”
“You’re no good at lying and I don’t like you telling me fibs,” he growled, “you playin’ around with me, honey.”
“No, I…” you blinked as he folded the paper back into his pocket and pushed his jacket back to settle his hand on his pistol.
“Did you forget who I am? What I am?” he arched a brow darkly.
“N-No, sir, I… I got schoolwork and--”
“You can’t stop and talk to me for ten minutes?” he challenged, “you hurt me, honey. I’m out on patrol all night, in danger, and the only thing I got to look forward to is hearing your sweet voice.”
“I, um, I… er, I’m confused,” you eked out, “I don’t know… I…”
“Honey,” he leaned in and his hot breath glossed over you as he lowered his voice, “you know what this is, we both know what a bad girl you were on Saturday.”
“I didn’t…” you swallowed and choked on your voice, “I gotta go to the library--”
You tried to turn away but were pulled back by his tight grip on your arm. He forced you against the wall and knocked the wind from you as your bag tumbled from your arm. You gasped and stared up at him in fright. In that moment, he seemed bigger than ever; taller, thicker, and strong as hell. Stronger than you for sure.
“You don’t go nowhere ‘less I say you do,” his other hand shifted on his gun, “you got me?”
“What are you-- I didn’t… why are you being mean?”
“Me? Honey pie, you been avoiding me and I’m mean?” he snarled.
“I wasn’t avoiding you, I’m just... busy,” you whimpered as he squeezed your arm so tight it throbbed, “you’re hurting me.”
“You’re hurting me,” he hissed, “you think I got time to be comin’ down here on duty to find you?”
“You didn’t have to--”
“I did,” he barked, “I had to make sure you weren’t hussyin’ around with any other boys, like I found you last week.”
“I told you, that wasn’t--”
“Shhhhh,” his hand flew to your chin and forced your mouth shut, “I don’t got the time for this, honey. I’ll be around tonight and you’ll wear a pretty dress for me, won’t you?”
You clenched your jaw and nodded stiffly as his thumb toyed with your lip. He smiled and the tension left his grasp.
“Good girl,” he drew away and squared his shoulders, “you be ready at six and don’t keep me waitin’ again.”
“Yes, sir,” you croaked.
“Mmm,” he nodded with a smirk, “you know, I think I do prefer ‘sir’.” He bent and kissed your lips before you could turn away. You let him and he stood straight again and adjusted his belt, “six o’clock, honey pie.”

Um you like Animaniacs.... What is/are some of your favorite moment(s)?
Oh boy! Great question. Potentially absurdly long answer.
As far as the Warners go, I LOVE when they get really good sibling interactions, and also basically any time they get to have nice or just really funny interactions with the humans in their lives.
This bit in “Hercules Unwound” when Dot is having an off day and Yakko offers to skip the cartoon because she’s not feeling it. They’ve already skipped a cartoon earlier in the episode as well. It’s cute to see Yakko and Wakko caring more about their sister than teaching a lesson to their “special friend.”
This very important sequence from Wakko’s Wish, AKA the cutest Yakko and Dot scene. Literally one of my favorite moments in anything ever. This movie is the thesis statement for like…..85% of angsty Yakko content, at least until the reboot.
Dot messing up her name in Cutie and the Beast, and Yakko and Wakko being little shits about it (bonus: Dot swearing like a sailor). It makes me laugh every time. Also hearing Yakko referred to as “Mr. United States Canada Mexico Panama” never gets old.
The “I’m Mad” theatrical short has it all. Peak Warner sib moments and the best Dad!Scratchansniff content. The Warners are from the late 20s/early 30s. They are OLDER than the Looney Tunes, if you look at their canonical creation dates. Seeing them getting to actually act like kids makes me feel emotions. Also Rob Paulsen is voicing HALF of the characters in this very chaotic song.
The entirety of Meatballs or Consequences, but especially this section. It’s so cute watching Yakko and Dot ask to stay with Wakko, and “are we dead, or is this Ohio” makes me laugh every time. And Jess Harnell is both Wakko and Death! I love hearing his different accents.
This scene from “Fear and Laughter in Burbank,” the OTHER angsty Yakko thesis statement. Do you wanna see an animated character have an on-screen panic attack and then almost have his soul eaten? This is the bit for you. I would LOVE to hear Rob Paulsen’s perspective of this moment, because it’s…a lot, given some of his real life circumstances at the time. Also here there be scary clowns, so if you don’t like clowns, skip this one.
“Yakko’s Big Idea” from the segment of the same name. I’m SO normal about this scene where Yakko is inventing the perfect world for him and his sibs to play in.
Drive Insane, especially the bit from around 0:30 to 1:15 seconds in this video. The Warners tormenting Scratchy by making people think he’s their dad is never NOT funny to me.
“It’s New Year’s Eve” from Hooray for North Hollywood Part 2. It’s so cute seeing them have a good time and be accepted by everyone, and it’s cute to see them celebrating Mr. Plotz. Just don’t think about how this fits into the last few episodes. Don’t. Look at Yakko giving Dot a lil kiss on the cheek instead.
Non Warner Segments:
Les Miseranimals is THE iconic Rita and Runt segment. It’s so good. This isn’t the whole thing, but I definitely recommend going and watching it all.
You could blindfold yourself and stick a pin in a list of Pinky and the Brain episodes and be almost guaranteed to get a great one, but Bubba Bo Bob Brain is one of the absolute best.
The first 30 seconds of this video includes probably my favorite Pinky and the Brain exchange of all time, from Wakko’s Wish
Honorable Mentions:
West Side Pigeons (Goodfeathers)
De-Zanitized (The Warners, and I’m only not including it because I could talk about it for about an hour)
Smitten With Kittens (Rita and Runt)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo Clock (Slappy Squirrel, and I’m not sure it’s one of my favorites so much as it makes me want to study Tom Ruegger like a bug because what the hell)
Literally every Chicken Boo segment, I’m not singling any of them out because every Chicken Boo segment is funny to me.
Lookit the Fuzzy Heads (The Warners and Buttons and Mindy, as well as a Tiny Toons Adventures crossover, shhhhh no one tell anyone that I enjoyed an Elmyra segment)
This is embarrassingly long, and I probably still forgot some. Everyone please watch this cartoon.

geto keeps texting you practically every minute at the airport, talking about how much he’s missed you, about how he can’t wait to get his hands on you, to the point where you’ve built up the wildest fantasies in your head about what’s going to happen when you return.
and when you roll your luggage into the house, you can see he’s delivered — a trail of rose petals laid out on the hardwood, soft sensual music growing louder as you make your way to the shared bedroom.
you find him glowing under the light of the lit candles he’s set up in the room, greeted by the view of him pouring out champange for you in nothing but tight black boxer briefs. he sets the glasses down when you come in, reaching forward to cup your face in a sweet kiss, toying with the hem of your blouse so he could get you down to your underwear too.
he picks you up gently and set you on the bed when you’re all bare for him, chuckling at the way you eagerly spread you legs for him as he climbs in between them.
“you have no idea how much i missed this pretty pussy of yours, yeah? he’s shed his briefs too, cock bobbing against his toned stomach as he clambers over you. he runs his head through your folds to gather up the slick thats collected between them, he’s done nothing to you and you’re already so wet.
“show me, suguru,” you sigh, grinding your hips against his length.
you can see a wicked glint in his eyes as you look up at him, heart sinking as he moves from on top you to sitting on his knees. he wraps his hand around his cock, fisting it slowly, to coat it in your slick, you think.
but then he keeps going, pumping up and down as contented groans fall past his lips when he rubs his thumb over his slit.
“this is what you reduced me too, baby. fucking my fist over and over, pretending it was that sweet cunt of yours — fuck — just praying for when you would come back to me.”
the heat in your stomach starts to grow at the sight of him, inky fly aways from his messy half bun framing his flushed face, the veins in his arm standing prominent against the smooth skin of his big arms as he satisfies himself. and he’s looking at you the entire time with half lidded eyes and that sly grin, the same one that got you in his bed all those years ago and you cant take it anymore — you need him inside.
“then stop teasing, suguru,” you plead, “i want you, please, just —”
“shhhhh,” he soothes, free hand reaching over to grab yours, “in due time, love.” he’s moves your hand so it rests over mound, the tip of your middle finger laying on top of your clit.
“i’m sure you missed me too tho. want to show me how you touched yourself thinking about me too?”

Steve not noticing that he goes into Tony kisses withdrawals when Tony’s away, but the rest of the team do. Like a first if Tony is out for a day or two and Steve doesn’t get his morning kiss he’s grumpy until after lunch, so the team introduces secret “Tony is away” brunch protocols, to get it over faster. After 4 days he’s moping unless he’s training or out with friends so it’s bootcamp/friend fieldtrips time.
2 weeks where he’s not on a mission and Tony’s out of the country and so busy he can barely video chat? The rest of the team sequesters him to the couch with ice cream and tv shows that Steve would like but aren’t on the “only watch first with Tony” list.
(The list includes all Star Wars’ and Treks, LoTR, Ghibli movies, and Die Hards. Steve can watch Mike Schur shows and Game of Thrones. While Disney movies and Romcoms are allowed by Tony without him, they are banned by the team cuz Steve starts crying during them at this point in the withdrawal process)
Eventually the team just kidnaps and throws him into a Quinjet and has him surprise Tony in his hotel after 3 weeks of no Tony and no mission calls. He is intolerably whiny, has grown his depression beard, and keeps calling the president, Fury, and other country’s heads of state to see if there’s aliens attacking.
LOOK LISTEN THE FIRST TIME I RECEIVED THIS ASK I WAS LIKE WOW ARE WE THE SAME PERSON??? Because Steve-suffering-from-Tony-withdrawal is also a personal headcanon of mine that I've carried in my head for years. It's my Favorite. This ask is very fun and made me laugh a lot and I love it very, very much. Keep your brilliant ideas coming, Anon. I really love them. (I am very sorry for taking a century to go through all of them 😔) Also, since it's Steve's birthday (shhh I'm not late, what are you talking about, shhhhh), I decided to develop this lovely idea and turn it into a birthday fic! I hope you like it! 🤍
let the heart grow fonder
steve/tony, birthday fluff, established relationship, 1174 words
“Was the flight really worth it? A few more days and I would’ve been home anyway.”
“Yeah.” Steve noses the back of his ear and Tony shivers. “But I would’ve been all alone on my birthday.”
“You would hardly be alone. There’s the whole team, and besides— The entire country would practically be celebrating your birthday. Fireworks, barbecues, the whole nine yards.”
“Not the same,” Steve insists stubbornly. Tony sees Steve cupping his hands to gather some water from in front of Tony’s chest before dumping it on Tony’s head. Closing his eyes, Tony lets the warm water seep into his hair and trickle down his face, neck, and back.
He opens his eyes when he feels Steve’s fingers sweeping his hair away from his forehead. “I would trade all of it for a day of doing nothing with my fella.”
“Sweet talker.” Tony huffs.
“‘S true.” Steve punctuates his statement with a kiss on Tony’s shoulder.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“‘S all your fault. You’re the one who was gone for a ridiculously long time.”
“Honey, trust me, if I had the choice I would much rather stay at home with you.”
Steve sighs, the sound echoing in the bathroom. “I know.”
This time, Tony cups his hands together, gathering a mountain of soapsuds. He blows on it, sending suds and bubbles flying.
“Nat told me all about it, you know.”
“About what?” Steve asks, his luscious beard tickling Tony’s temple.
“About the depression beard. All your sulking and moping. And whining.”
“I did no such things. The beard is me… trying out a new look.”
Tony snorts. “And crying.”
“Natasha’s a lying liar,” Steve grumbles, hiding his face in Tony’s hair.
“Come on, which movie was it?”
Steve stays silent. With his movements hidden by the soapy water, Tony pokes Steve’s side stealthily.
“Ah!” Steve yelps.
“Which movie was it, baby?”
Steve huffs, resting his forehead against the back of Tony’s skull.
And then, finally:
“Dumbo,” Steve mumbles in defeat. Tony snickers.
“Oh, honey. You’re such a softie.” Tony sighs fondly as he leans back, letting more of his weight rest against Steve’s body. He lets out a delighted hum when Steve welcomes the extra weight by snaking an arm around his waist.
“No judging,” Steve whines, and Tony grins when he can hear the pout in his voice. “You’d been gone for two weeks by then and I really missed you. Besides, you have no room to talk. Remember The Fox and the Hound?”
“Please. That’s totally different.” Tony rolls his eyes. “Anyone who doesn’t cry at The Fox and the Hound is a monster.”
Submerged up to his shoulders in warm water and pressed up against his naked husband, Tony feels well-rested and content in a way he hadn’t been for the past few weeks.
Still, they only have a few days left before they have to leave for New York, so they should probably make good use of what little time they have left in Milan.
“I wanna take you to this really beautiful restaurant for your birthday dinner. Super romantic. We could get a private table. You’d love it.”
“Yeah?” Tony feels Steve’s hand stroking up and down his stomach.
“Mm-hm. We should probably get out soon. Get dressed. Look presentable,” Tony says, resting his head back on one of Steve’s shoulders and looking up at him.
Steve looks down at him, his unfairly long lashes wet and clumped together. For a moment, he simply stares back at Tony silently.
“What?” Tony eventually says, unable to withstand the silent scrutiny. He breaks eye contact and lifts one of his feet up and out of the water just because he can, just for something to do.
Tony watches his own foot hover above the surface of the water for a few seconds before another hairy leg breaks the surface of the water. The bigger foot settles on top of Tony’s hovering one until his leg buckles under the weight, sending the two left feet plunging back into the water.
“Rude,” Tony remarks with a frown, turning back to stare up at Steve again.
Steve is already looking at him, almost as if he never looked away in the first place.
“What?”
“Would you be mad at me,” Steve begins, one of his hands reaching up to bury itself in Tony’s damp hair, fingers lightly scratching his scalp, “if I said I’d much prefer it if we stayed in tonight and ordered room service?”
Tony leans back, incredulous. “Room service?”
Steve nods.
“For your birthday dinner?”
He nods again.
“Why?”
Steve shrugs, disturbing the water slightly with the movement. “I mean, I didn’t exactly fly all the way to Italy for the food.”
Tony softens and tries in vain to hold back his smile.
“Yeah?”
An answering smile blooms on Steve’s face. He leans in to nudge Tony’s nose affectionately with his own. “Uh-huh.”
“What did you come here for then?” Tony asks, voice dangerously low and eyes never leaving Steve’s.
“Oh.” Steve quirks an eyebrow. “Keep looking at me like that and I may just skip the room service and go straight for dessert.”
Tony smirks devilishly. “What’s stopping you?”
Blinking rapidly, Steve swallows. “Yeah?”
“I mean, you are the birthday boy.” Tony strokes the line of Steve’s throat with the back of his fingertips and watches in glee as the man shivers.
Eyes wide and cheeks flushed, Steve leans in close and—
“Actually, it’s me. I’m stopping you. I’m really craving some lasagna right now.”
Initially headed for Tony’s lips, Steve changes course and buries his face in Tony’s neck with a guttural groan.
“Sweetheart. You’re not making things easy for me.”
Tony chuckles. “Nothing about me is easy, honey. I’m a challenge.”
“But it’s my birthday,” Steve complains, voice muffled.
“You got off an eight-hour flight, got to the hotel, and immediately napped for four hours. You haven’t had a proper meal.”
“I ate on the plane.”
“No, we need to get you some proper Italian food. Hearty, heartwarming, fulfilling.”
“Food is just food. I just wanna have you.”
“Um, excuse me? That is deeply insulting. Authentic Italian food is not just food, it’s an experience.”
“I wanna have the Tony experience.”
“You’ll get the Tony experience after you have a proper meal. Look, we can order room service, but we can’t skip dinner.”
“Fine,” Steve grumbles, face finally emerging from its hiding place. “But can we stay like this for another fifteen minutes?”
Tony settles back against Steve’s chest and lets Steve pull him close. “Of course, birthday boy.”
Steve hums contentedly, resting his chin on the crown of Tony’s head. “You make me really happy, sweetheart. I love you.”
Tony feels Steve’s fingers interlocking on top of his stomach. He looks down, spotting the wedding ring worn on Steve’s ring finger, one that he knows is engraved with his own handwriting.
The image of the ring is distorted by the water, but still, it glints golden. Tony smiles to himself.
“I love you, too, honey. Happy birthday.”

take all of me
Tumblr media
it's a day late but shhhhh
Asahi x reader
warnings: smut, virginity taking, so on and so forth
Word count: 1,000 (about)
Summary: you say it so easily, you want to have sex with him, don't you know how big a deal this was to him? not to say that he isn't going to fuck you, of course, he's going to fuck you. doesn't mean he can't be nervous about it.
“I don’t know what to do,” Ashai breathed, he gulped as he looked down at your body. He didn’t want to rush things but your innocent date night had turned romantic when you crawled into his lap and started kissing him. One thing leads to another and well. Now you were beneath him with your shirt off. He gulped and his cock jumped in his pants.
“I want to go all the way Azumane, I want to have sex with you,” you purred leaning up and kissing him. He shuddered. He didn't know if he was hoping you’d say that or scared. He nodded and tied his hair up in a ponytail out of his face so he could look down at you. As you made love.
He kissed your neck. Stroking your breast, running his thumb over your nipple. He pulled the strap of your bra so he could keep kissing, but he paused to check in with you.
“I’m Good, Azumane,” you whispered, already knowing what your nervous boyfriend wanted to know.
He smiled and nodded before helping you up and unhooking your bra and sliding it off your arms.
“That was quick, you’ve done this before?” you teased, you didn’t mean anything by the comment. His cheeks went bright red as he remembered the night he, Daichi, and Suga all put on bras and practiced taking them off once another.
“You’re the first,” he lied- well not a lie, you were the first girl he took a bra off of, that had to count for something right? You smiled and laced your fingers through his
“You’re my first too,” you admitted.
“I’ll make it good for you, I promise,” he said, returning to your breasts, kissing your chest. This process continued with the rest of the clothing, removing and kissing, removing and kissing, until you were both naked.
“You’re- big.” you gulped, looking down at his half-hard cock. Tentatively you reached out taking his cock in your hand stroking him and feeling the weight of his length. You had no idea how it would fit inside of you.
“Uhm- thanks?” he thought you were complimenting him but he could see the worry in your eyes. “I promise it won’t hurt, I’ll just stretch you out,” he said. He wanted to fuck you, badly. But he wouldn’t hurt you. He could never hurt you.
You nodded and slid up the bed and spread your legs. You were soaking wet when he reached down to touch your lower lips, it seemed like his kissing did it for you. He slowly pried your folds open, stroking your lips and entrance before slowly pushing one finger inside you. You were tight, and wet around him, his brain short-circuited as he thought about feeling your velvet walls around his dick.
He didn’t care how long he had to stay hard while stretching you out, he’d get you nice and ready for him.
“Oh god Asahi-” you moaned wrapping your arm around his neck and pulling him into a passionate kiss as you rolled your hips deliberately against the palm of his hands
“It feels so good,” you moaned against his mouth, threading your fingers through the base of his hair pulling some strands from his ponytail. Asahi slips his tongue into your mouth, cupping your face with his free hand. He just couldn’t get enough of you. Your back was pressed right against his hard cock, rocking back and forth, grinding against him.
“Don’t stop, please I’m going to cum,” you moaned, gripping his wrist.
“Shh, sweetheart let go,” he whispered in your ear. He watched you closely, wanting to see how your body looked when you came. He stroked your cheek with his thumb while he pumped three fingers inside of you scissoring them open and closed, feeling your cunt gush around his hand. You’d relaxed significantly and he could probably slide inside of you with no problem now, but you were so close to cumming he couldn’t just leave you on the edge like that.
“Come on pretty girl,” he coaxed. “I want to feel my baby cum,” his voice dropped an octave making you shudder. Your back arched and you came, your legs clamping around his arm. Ashai shhed you and kissed your neck as he continued to stroke your inside walls until you were whimpering and coming down from your high.
“How are you feeling now sweetheart?” he asked, pulling his hand away.
“Good,” you said gulping down air. “I want you,” you said. He smiled.
“You don’t have to say that if you don’t mean it, I can wait, baby,” he reassured you. You shook your head.
“No, I want you Azumume, please,” you insisted. Ashai nodded and quickly pulled out a condom, slipping it on and shifted so he was on top of you again, kissing you one more time as he stroked his cock before lining it up with your entrance.
“I’m sorry if this hurts, I’ll go slow,” he promised and slowly pushed into you. You yelped and dug your nails into his shoulders. He paused, starting again when you gave him permission.
“Relax,” he ordered, you were strangling his cock, he couldn’t move when you were holding him so tightly. You took a few quick breaths and did your best to relax and let him move.
“You’re so big,” you sighed, you pressed down on your abdomen where his cock head pressed deep against your womb.
“You’re just tight,” he said, and slowly moved back and forth, Ashai gasped and thrust back and forth into you moaning loudly, his breathy sounds mixing with your own croons of pleasure.
“You feel so good, Azumume,” you gasped, kissing him again.
“I love you,” he mouthed against your lips.
“I love you too,” you said back. Before crying out again in a mix of pain and pleasure. There was still a lingering pain as he made love to you, but it didn’t outweigh the pleasure that came with his movements.
“I love you,” you said again. Ashai moved his mouth and started kissing your neck, sucking hickeys onto the skin.
“I love you too, So so much baby girl,”

polyshipping week day 6
(yes i'm two days late please ignore that, pretend it's still saturday shhhhh.)
Scheduling as Romance
“I have everyone’s schedule laid out on the calendar here,” Evie says, leaning over the table, where she has six separate sheets of paper laid out. “There’s a copy for everyone here, they’re all color coded so we can see who is in each weekend, and there’s a digital version as well, it’s on our shared workspace under the title Evie’s House Calendar. It doesn’t update automatically because we have too many separate calendars and it overwhelmed the system when I tried to make it connect to all of them, but I’m working on it.”
“Wow, princess,” Mal says, reaching over to pull one of the pages closer to her. “This is pretty fancy.”
Evie stares at her.
“I mean, great work?”
Ben makes a happy little noise next to her. “You scheduled us all date nights every week?”
Evie grins. “Of course. Date night is essential for the running of a healthy castle.”
“How far out does this go?” Carlos asks, shuffling through the stapled-together pages of his own copy. “I have that conference for school coming up in April, and–”
“It runs through the end of the school year,” Evie says smoothly, flipping her own copy to the correct page. “And yes, I have everyone’s meetings and conferences and games and events already on here. I didn’t put in everyone’s class and work schedules because I figured that was excessive, but I have a spot on the whiteboard calendar in the kitchen for those, so if we need to know where people are, we’ll always be able to find them.”
“You’re amazing,” Ben says earnestly. “Can I pay you to do this for all of my schedules”
Evie laughs. “For you, princeling, I’ll do it for free.”

GRRM really created so many parallels and foreshadow using the DoD characters that honestly we could just figure the asoiaf ending by analyzing it. My favorite is the Aegon III-D@ny parallels, the fact that one of his closest allies was a face-scarred Master of coin Lannister who ended as Hand to Bran' parallel character just make it so obvious its funny.
Oh my god I didn’t even realise Tyland Lannister was initially on the greens’ side! I’m not super fond of Tyrion ending up as Hand, but you’re right that it’s so obviously meant to reference him. There’s so many parallels that it’s a little crazy. I don’t want to say that the second Dance will end exactly as the first did, it’d be a little too neat if history repeated entirely, but you can see so many echoes of it even in the show’s bastardised ending.
“The broken, shattered realm suffered for a while yet, but the Dance of the Dragons was done. Now what awaited the realm was the False Dawn, the Hour of the Wolf, the rule of the regents, and the Broken King.”
(TWOIAF, Aegon II)
I’m not sure what the False Dawn is going to parallel to, it refers to the period of time after Aegon II’s death but before Lord Stark got to King’s Landing, when people thought that peace had finally come. It kind of brings to mind the War for the Dawn, though personally I think that the threat of the Others will be resolved before the Dance is over. The Hour of the Wolf is obviously about House Stark’s rise back to power, and the Broken King is Bran - though if he actually becomes known as Bran the Broken I might end up committing violence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The parts about Lord Corlys Velaryon are why I’m so hopeful that Jon’s book ending will be completely different from the show’s. He’s arrested for Aegon II’s death by Cregan Stark, even though Cregan had previously declared for Rhaenyra, because as TWOIAF puts it, “to kill a cruel and unjust king in lawful battle was one thing. But foul murder, and the use of poison, was a betrayal against the very gods who had anointed him.”
Corlys didn’t deny his guilt, and expressed no regret. “What I did, I did for the good of the realm. I would do the same again. The madness had to end.”
Cregan Stark declared him to be guilty of murder, regicide, and high treason, and he was sentenced to execution. But many spoke in his defence, even people who had fought against him in the Dance. Baela and Rhaena Targaryen, Corlys’ granddaughters and Aegon III’s half-sisters, convinced Aegon to issue an edict pardoning Lord Velaryon, which Alysanne Blackwood then convinced Cregan to let stand. Lord Velaryon was pardoned and even restored to his offices and honours, made one of the king’s regents and given a place on the small council.
Corlys’ words definitely could be Jon’s as well, a much more in-character declaration post-D@ny’s death than the drivel GoT tried to feed us. I was worried for a bit that this would be how Tyrion is let off scot-free, but Baela and Rhaena, who were vital to his release, are such obvious Arya and Sansa stand-ins, and they’re certainly not going to expend any effort in helping Tyrion. So Corlys’ circumstances more likely lays the groundwork for how Jon will be freed and remain in political power, while Tyland frankly inexplicably becoming Aegon III’s Hand after he was in favour of brutally killing him parallels Tyrion managing to fail up, as a way of reconciling the old regime with the new one.
This makes Tyrion becoming Hand more palatable IMO. Either Jon and Tyrion both should have been punished or neither should have been punished, not the travesty where Tyrion gets everything he’s ever wanted while Jon is exiled to a Watch with no purpose and a Wall that’s already half-collapsed, so what exactly can it protect against? I suppose they were afraid of seemingly rewarding Jon for killing d@ny, especially if pol!Jon had been revealed, but most people noticed how nonsensical his ending was, and it just led to ‘Bloodraven/Bran is the real villain’ takes anyway.
(Side note: Asha/Yara basically still being loyal to D at the end annoys me so much, and made no sense. Jon did more to help save her by giving Theon that pep talk than D@ny did. Maybe it was a leftover from her taking Victarion’s role in the story, but in no reasonable world is anyone going to listen to the Ironborn who brought the Fire threat over in the first place.)
Of course Tyland Lannister isn’t actually Hand for long, given that he dies barely two years later from Winter Fever, feared and hated, alone except for a maester and King Aegon. It might be an indication that Tyrion will face a similar fate, that he’ll die after he’s seemingly won, exactly what he threatened Cersei with:
“A day will come when you think yourself safe and happy, and suddenly your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth, and you'll know the debt is paid."
(ACOK, Tyrion XII)
So that I can stop talking about Tyrion, here’s some facts about Rhaena and Baela that are obviously meant to reference Sansa and Arya, so much so that it feels a little bit like GRRM is winking and going “See what I did there? Huh? Huh? Did you see??”:
- their descriptions: “Rhaena was slender and graceful; Baela was lean and quick; Rhaena loved to dance; Baela lived to ride...” + “Baela was wild and willful”, “more boyish than ladylike”, and kept her hair cropped short as a boy’s
- Rhaena spent most of the Dance in the Vale, where she lived in relative comfort as the ward of Lady Jeyne Arryn. Baela was a dragonrider and so moved between Dragonstone and Driftmark, but was captured on Dragonstone when Aegon II descended upon it
- Rhaena was favoured to be queen after her brother, considered more qualified than her wild sister
- Baela liked to spend time with “unsuitable companions” she would bring to the Red Keep - including a comely juggler, a blacksmith’s apprentice whose muscles she admired (!!!), a legless beggar, a pair of twin girls from a brothel, an entire troupe of mummers once
- After her brother’s regents tried to marry her to a lord 40 years older than her, Baela escaped the Red Keep by climbing out of a window, trading clothes with a washerwoman, then walking right out of the front gate. She ran away to Driftmark and married her supposed cousin (though more likely he was her half-uncle), the legitimised bastard Alyn Velaryon, which might have had me worried about j0nrya if Alyn weren’t best known for being a daring sailor who went on many voyages, including sailing the Sunset Sea, until he was finally lost at sea during Aegon IV’s reign. Alyn’s mother was also called Mouse, for being “small, quick, and always underfoot.”
- another fun fact about Alyn: he’s a bad haggler, and had to agree to a high ransom and many concessions in order to get Prince Viserys returned to Westeros. This automatically disqualifies him as a Jon stand-in, because as we all know, Jon Snow can haggle like the best of fishwives.
- My absolutely favourite detail that has my jonsa heart singing - Rhaena was more dutiful than her sister and would have married a man that the king and council chose, saying that as long as he was “kind and gentle and noble, I know that I shall love him.” She was able to marry her first choice, whom the regents didn’t immediately approve of but that they ultimately accepted  - Ser Corwyn Corbray, the brother of the Lord Protector of the Realm, a second son (!) whose late father had gifted him the Valyrian steel sword Lady Forlorn (!!!)
And as a treat for @istumpysk, some similarities between Rickon and Viserys II!
- the youngest child of their family
- separated from their older brother after they were forced to flee their home, trying to get to safety while their other brothers and mother were at war
- worshipped their oldest (half-)brothers, but were closer to the brother nearest their age
- spends the war stuck on an island, populated by people closely linked to their family’s origins - Skagosi are descended mostly from the First Men, while Viserys was on Lys, where the blood of Old Valyria still runs strong
- sought by/held hostage by a powerful and wealthy family, who will treat them well but whose intentions are dubious
- will be brought back from exile by an upjumped bastard/commoner from a port town who was raised to lordship and became their monarch’s chief admiral
- after they are returned, long after the wars and crises, is happily welcomed as the heir to their older brother’s throne (shhhhh just let me have this, let the baby live)
Thanks for the ask!
