Hey! So i must i adore you analysis on Wolfwood as you compared his story beats to maximum and how they got changed, something that I dont really see people commenting on

I must say however, do you think vash and wolfwood are bound to have the same kind of relationship they had in trimax? I adore stampede like crazy and was enjoying it so much until around ep 10/11 where it got cleared they were very much going a seemingly different route than what we thought. And to be honest the moment i saw they pumped Knives and Vash dynamic like crazy got me thinking tristamp will be completely about them and not also Vash and WW/others (which i think is as important as K and V for trigun to work out) or tristamp will be mostly Vash and Knives and WW and Livio.

You seek to have a super optimistic (lol) look for s2 and beyond so i wonder if you think (either by beats laid out by tristamp, maybe i am too blind or pessimistic to realize them) there may be something similar to vash and wolfwood’s relationship in trimax???

But tl;dr: I think that it’ll be similar! Honestly, I think the Vash and Wolfwood dynamics have to be similar, because that’s such an integral part of Trimax. I jokingly called it the Vash and Wolfwood show to a friend when I started reading it—and yeah, that sums up a lot. Though I REALLY see your worries about this. I think we got a much heavier dose of Vash and Knives to really make the stakes super personal, but I have a feeling Knives will fall into the more distant role he takes in Trimax because, as he says, Nai is dead. Long live Knives.

Tristamp season one is a prologue, confirmed by the team very purposefully calling the continuing work the final phase despite saying the sky is the limit on future content depending on fan support. It speed ran a lot of stuff, and I think that was knowingly done because the staff has stated multiple times that they needed everything to be as perfect as possible, but they didn’t know how it would do. I don't even know if they thought they could do a second season. Trigun has historically not been popular outside of the cult following ’98 had in the west—Trimax was just an afterthought that many fans hadn’t read before Tristamp grabbed us all by the throats.

To touch on the other relationships, I like that Tristamp is that it's already expanding on characters that I felt could have spent more time in the spotlight. Like, I'm very eager to see where they take the girls! Because Meryl’s falling into the same role but with a vastly different career in this, and she’s already way more present . Why are they following Vash? How present will the girls be? MILLY!!! With Meryl ripping down Vash’s wanted poster at the end of season one, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s her mission to clear Vash’s name, and hijinks ensue. She already has deeper ties to Wolfwood than any other version before, which makes both of them stronger for it. I’m nervous to see how this all plays out because change scares me and I love this story so much lmao, but I do think it’s good! I already went off about how I love how important Meryl already is in the story, she’s a foil to Vash and the faith in himself he never had, and I feel like that only strengthens and reflects against the foils Vash and Wolfwood have going on. And Milly! I’m so excited to see where they go with her.

But this does change everything with Wolfwood. I keep thinking that Tristamp has changed Wolfwood fundamentally and keep needing to go back and rewatch because he is Wolfwood. He’s younger and rougher around the edges, but he’s still that moron I know and love. (Sometimes I’ll be reading fic and I don’t even realize that the person’s only seen Tristamp because they just get him and the dynamic right—Orange is doing a good job even if it scares me deeply lol)

I do have complete faith that they need to and will let Vash and Wolfwood’s dynamic shine just as brightly as it does in Trimax. I think, actually, a lot of that comes from outside of the text, though I could probably do another rewatch to pick up on all the loose threads they’re laying down to grow Wolfwood’s character and his dynamic with Vash in particular.

First, a new bit of info I saw recently is that the director, Kenji Muto? Apparently hasn’t even seen ’98, or at least hadn’t seen it as of making season one. Of course there are other writers on staff, and the crew has admitted to being huge Trigun nerds, but if your only exposure to Trigun is Trimax??? Wolfwood is massively important to Vash. Doing that dirty would be greatest sin you could make against this franchise.

Second, Nightow is so involved in creating this. He was involved way before most manga authors are brought in on anime, and even said that pretty early on he basically gave it his blessing and said that they got Trigun. (Though he still approved everything from then on as well.) And Wolfwood and his story arc in Trimax is so powerful and so moving. Nightow obviously had some significant investment and emotion in it, in Wolfowod and Vash’s relationship and journey. Like, I cry at things sometimes, generally just ooze tears, but Nightow and this damn manga made me sob. I can’t imagine he would tell the crew they understood Trigun without Wolfwood’s character and his ties to Vash being a priority. I know typically Japanese creators won’t throw shade at adaptations like we see in Western realms, but I rarely see the level of enthusiasm Nightow has for this project.

Okay, because this is getting long, and I’m getting into Trimax spoilers next, putting this next bit under a cut, continue at your own risk.

It’s actually funny, because for the end of that Wolfwood post, before I started my rewatch for it, I originally had a pretty specific prediction about what would happen. Then the ‘sky’s the limit’ on future content came out, and idk what to expect. I thought that the next season was going to be the Vash and Wolfwood show ala Trimax, we were going to fall in love with Wolfwood, and we were gonna have him couched at the end of that season. Because the couch is so essential, it’s so critical, but my god do I want this man to survive the narrative, if only once, and have it mean just as much. (Can you tell I’m torn on this every second of every day of my entire life) And after writing up that whole post I’m even more confused because I have no idea where the fuck they’re taking him. But at the same time, we have major plot threads tying us to that scene so much earlier. The vials existing way earlier, Livio and Razlo being introduced, that line about grieving but still deserving to smile and eat that Wolfwood gives Vash in the episode he’s introduced??? We're making everything more coherent and tied together, and fuck, we're screwed.

For now, all I’ve got is that I think some shit is going to happen to Wolfwood during our two-year time skip, maybe something with Chapel, idk how they’re going to inevitably use Livio against us, but we saw a softer Wolfwood in Tristamp. He needs to harden to be who we know. Orange said they’re going to be more like their other selves here, and though Wolfwood already has some faith in Vash, but he does not have faith in humanity. That’s the growth we have yet to see, and that’s what is really at the core of their relationship and development. It’s still there.

Many people who read Trimax are absolutely gutted and wrecked by the couch. That defines a lot of readers’ experiences—Wolfwood’s character arc is an absolute masterclass in writing a satisfying and meaningful conclusion for a character. So for them to change this much about someone who is that important, they have to have a plan, and a damn good one for Nightow to sign off on it. I’ve seen folks talk about how apparently the team spent the most time working on Knives, Vash, and Wolfwood’s characters (this one I haven't seen a source for), but as you said, we can already see it in the brothers’ relationship. They have a plan for Wolfwood. It’s only a matter of time before we’re wrecked by it.

Yeah, they are gonna keep doing stuff that you or I won’t agree with, or that we think could be better. Every version of Trigun is pretty flawed in certain ways imo, even though it might be beautiful or a favorite piece of media. But all of the concerns of mine that Orange could answer in the first season, they did so with flying colors and blew me out of the water. So don’t get me wrong, I’m scared. I’m so fucking terrified. Both Vash and Wolfwood are my favorite characters in Trigun in such different, integral ways to me. I love them deeply. And Orange is changing so much.

But Orange adores Trimax as much as I do. Nightow is 500% on board. So I’m biting my nails about it, but I choose to have faith. We’ll get wrecked by this adaptation, and I’d bet money on it if I had any lol

In Germany they were taught that the word “jew” stood for a monster, like the wird rabbit stands for an animal. Idk if this makes sense but they LITTERALLY didn’t know any better which i personally find makes it worse. The ppl KNEW that they were wrong, and that they couldn’t convince poursouled children of anything unless they made up lies. The thing those children hated was justified. Anyone would hate a monster that only brings evil upon us. But they conected it to a name that describes something else.(the movie jojo rabit brings this accross extremely well and truthfull! It’s available on netflix and i think on prime!) And thats the problem. They knew they were wrong but they needed someone to blame for their own failures and problems. This began with the germanians spreading Christianity around Europe when jews were still a majority. It was generally a seen as a sin to get along with a Christian, and as we all know in the middle age there have been some babaric events towarts (but also by) religious ppl.

In thirteen-sixty-something the thing got to a whole new level when in (i think it was italy but idk) a fountain was moisted with bacteria and brought back black plague for a lot of people, which obviously got word all around the world quickly. And with that obviously also rumours. The thing is that those rumors were LOADED.

Thats how the hatred toward jews specifically began. People thought they were witches that poisoned their food causing them all to get sick.

Happy New Year 🎉

I do have some goals for this year related to Animal Crossing and gaming in general.

I hope to play more New Leaf and GCN, one of my goals is to pay off my debts in GCN. I will try to play WW and City Folk a bit more often, but I want the majority of my focus to be on New Leaf.

I am not sure how much time I will have this year for games, I graduate in May but my last semester will be extremely busy between classes, working, and running a student journal at my school. I am also doing some independent research projects that will take up a lot of time. After I graduate, if I have a break between then and when I start grad school I will have more time to play, but I will likely be subbing in schools full-time. This year is full of uncertainties because I haven’t applied to grad school yet and my fiancé is still waiting on his applications.

Some of my other goals for this year are to finish at least 3 Zelda games (most likely Zelda 1, Link to the Past, and Ocarina of Time) but I do have a goal of eventually completing them all. I also recently got into Splatoon and I’m having so much fun, so I’ll post anything relevant about that. As far as other games, I want to finish the Kingdom Hearts trilogy, and maybe start Pikmin? My backlog is HUGE and I’m trying to play more games, but I rarely have time and I always gravitate towards New Horizons and MK8.

Looking forward to what this year may bring, I’m scared because I might have to move to a big city or move somewhere close to a train station so we can take the train into NYC for school. I’m always used to having a plan for at least 2-3 years in advance but anything after May this year is completely up in the air. Here’s to hoping I get an actual engagement ring and proposal before next year too. I also turn 22 this year and it’s kinda sad because I feel like I have no "big birthday" milestones to look forward to, because 18-21 felt like a significant birthday milestone every year. I don’t know.

Hello everyone! As some of you know, I’ve been writing fanfiction for a long time now, with accounts on both Archive Of Our Own  and Fanfiction.net. I have also dipped my toe into original fiction writing (just not as often as fanfiction) and as such, I also have a FictionPress account. And I figured that since I enjoy writing so much that maybe I could make some money off of my stories. And that's why I am now offering up some original fiction and fanfiction commissions! The info for both will be under separate sections below. But first, here are some general rules and guidelines before we begin: 1. I don’t want you to send me anything NSFW. Just stick to PG-13 for a rating, alright? 2. The longer the story you want me to write, the longer it’ll take for me to finish it, so just keep that in mind. It could take anywhere from a few days to a couple months. If you don’t like that, don’t commission me. 3. I’m only going to take three commissions at a time. #RPGCovers Week Thirteen Transhuman Space (2002)+ Christopher Shy

I’m surprised that given the length of this series so far, I’m only now talking about Christopher Shy. His work stands for a chunk of the 1990s and 2000s for me. It’s iconic, unique, and always recognizably his. I had a lot to choose from but I keep coming back to Transhuman Space. I’ll talk about that and then the way his Mage work actively redefined the game itself. 

Transhuman Space is a “Powered by GURPS” book with a decent number of supplements. Shy did the covers and provided the interior art to several in the series. Like many of Shy’s best pieces, it is a kind of pseudo-collage. You can see several disparate elements blended together by a water-color darkness. I’m not sure how else to describe it. The effect is to be out-of-focus, but in a way that gives us room to imagine what’s going on.

I especially love how with TS the hard sci-fi aesthetic of the setting is undercut by the almost impressionistic imagery. This isn’t sharp lines and gleaming chrome. It is rough, bespoke, overwhelming, and human. It points to a very different kind of sci-fi games and signals another aesthetic. Like, and this is really just my reading, we have the idea of Transhumanism (like we see in the slick clean look of something like Eclipse Phase).  But our central figure in the middle of the page is in a grimy, retro space suit that wouldn’t look out of place in a 1960s film. Again contradictions that say something about the setting itself. 

Shy’s best work establishes that feel and tone super clearly. As I mentioned above, one of the best examples of that is the change in White Wolf’s approach to Mage the Ascension. I love early Mage, which is defined by some of the amazing work of Michael Kaluta (who I’ll come back to tomorrow). His designs have a clean, brilliantly drafted look to them. The covers for the Mage 1e Tradition books, sharp black lines on metallic covers, speak to the forward looking elements of that iteration of the game: magic, wonder, and potential. 

Then eight years later, WW revised those books, expanding them and bringing them up to date with the changes in rules, setting, and especially tone of Mage. Gone were the clean, distinct lines. Shy’s images are muddy, melancholy, and fallen. The Traditions have lost and are picking up the pieces. Yes, the books all fit in a series, but the links are from the whole book design, rather than the echoes Kaluta gives. Instead each Shy piece is different, like washed out photos of broken people. Some have a more powerful look, but the darkness around them undercuts that. 

It’s one of the best uses of covers to present a new take on a game line: creating a break with the past and telling us a new story about the setting.

I REMEMBER NOW WHY MY AU STARTS IN THE DOWNFALL TIMELINE!!

Because TP takes place around 100-200 years after OOT, and WW takes place at around the same time. Thusly there’s not enough time for the tribe to develop.

Plus Zelda obviously survives Link’s death in OOT in the downfall timeline, since there’s multiple Zelda’s after her in that timeline. So Ganon didn’t kill her. Maybe he tried to? Maybe he let her go? IDK, but she didn’t die. SO CORRECTION, THE AU TAKES PLACE ACROSS THE DOWNFALL AND UNITED TIMELINES.

Can’t believe I forgot that! Also, I just thought that maybe the people in Kakariko moved out after other places were rebuilt? Or, if we want to go the angsty route, maybe Kakariko went through a natural disaster that wiped everyone out? That would give a blank slate for the Sheikah to resettle Kakariko… they wouldn’t just abandon it, what with the Royal Family’s tomb and the Shadow Temple.

Maybe it’s a combination? People started to move out as Castle Town was rebuilt and Death Mountain started to act up? I think I want Death Mountain to do something, I like that better than a simple drought, which seems to be what might have happened to Kakariko in the Child Timeline, seeing as the Hidden Village is so dusty and dry.

Yeah, that sounds good. Ganon wouldn’t stop people from rebuilding after all, there’s no need to do that. He’s not unnecessarily cruel, after all, everything he does is in the pursuit of power, and there’s no power to be gained from keeping people from rebuilding. So people started to rebuild Castle Town, which lead to people moving out of Kakariko to help rebuild and resettle.

They found success, which lead to more people leaving in order to start new settlements and such. Death Mountain started to act up, which led to rockslides and lava flows. The remaining people left because of this, and I’ll spare people from death for now, after all, an entire race is going to die later on, so no need to kill people at the start!

After this, Impa (I’m going to keep the Sages alive. I can’t handle them dying. Nabooru MIGHT die, but I feel like Ganon would simply force the Sages to live under his rule as payment for their ‘treachery’) led several Sheikah (sent forward in time by the Goddess Hylia to reestablish the tribe (so technically they’re part of the same generation as SS Impa)) to Kakariko and they resettled the village. Zelda had already been there, it was the first place she went after either being let go by Ganon or escaping him, and she reunited with Impa, the two leading the Sheikah.

I imagine that Impa and Zelda would help the Sheikah from the past adapt to the present day, and help them study and learn about the advancements and accomplishments of the Sheikah since the ancient times. Zelda probably ended up moving to Castle Town at some point, to keep watch over her people, and continued to visit and help the Sheikah. She probably also went to Death Mountain and Zora’s Domain to help the Gorons and Zora as well.

Zelda would end up having children, and her bloodline would continue all the way till the point in time that Ganon died, which is when her descendants would reestablish the monarchy. The Sheikah would once again swear fealty to the Royal Family, and would continue to serve until their extermination.

For funsies, since she’s not related to the story but I need to give her a resolution so to speak because I love her and she deserves it, Malon would probably end up having children as well, running the ranch till her death. Lon Lon Ranch would be passed down through her descendants, serving Hyrule’s people with horses and Lon Lon milk for many years to come. I’d like to imagine that the little Malon we see during Legend’s adventures is one of her descendants. :D

Okay but I love all of this! The idea that rock slides and just natural occurrences from Death Mountain being a cause for many leaving makes sense- I can also see that the Sheikah would have a better understanding of how to lessen the blow of such things and moving there would be perfect.

Also Legend's Malon being Malon's descendant is so cute I love that too!

Enjoy it… and don’t let it put you off just because it’s vegan.. it is absolutely delicious.

Prep Time 10 minutes minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes minutes

Total Time 35 minutes minutes

500g Leek [Sliced thinly]

500g Potatoes [Peeled, Cubed]

550ml Vegan friendly vegetable stock

2 Garlic Cloves [Crushed]

400ml Unsweetened Almond Milk

Salt

Ground Black pepper

In a pan cook the garlic and leeks over a medium heat with a little low calorie cooking spray.

Once the vegetables are slightly softened add the potatoes and stock.

Cover with a lid and allow to simmer for 10 – 15 minutes over a medium heat until everything is soft.

Reduce the heat and stir in the almond milk.

Blend with a hand blender until completely smooth. Heat for a further few minutes.

Season to taste with salt and pepper if needed.

This seems fun!  I think I’ll take a spin at it 8D

Legend of Zelda/Adventure of Link: No; the games don’t have a ton of story as it is, and the little story we do have tells us these two basically don’t actually meet each other ‘til the first game’s over...and then it’s all about saving a completely different Zelda in the second game.  So there’s just no real room for it here, t’my mind. 

Link to the Past (and connected games): Not, like, fervently?  But basically yeah; the psychic connection being what kicks things into motion and the way their time together in the opening stretch gives them a chance to bond gives the Rescue Mission more of a Bonding feel.  

Ocarina/MM: Oh, absolutely.  Their Kid Conspiracy being what sets the whole story into motion is just too wonderful to ignore, and the way each in their own way shoulders the burden of growing up with a terrible responsibility on their shoulders offers up the kind of Dramatic Connection that I just can’t resist. 

WW: Yes, for basically all the same reasons listed above. XD

TP: Nah; again, the characters spend too much of the game overtly disconnected for me to really feel it.  Plus, for once, there’s actually another character I ship TP Zelda with significantly more. 

Spirit Tracks: Yeah, I’d say so.  They’re both awfully cute, and it is really nice to have a version of the pairing wherein the characters spend the majority of the game as Partners, which in turn gives you a really fleshed out sense of their dynamic.  

Skyward Sword: 💖YES💖  Genuinely might be my favorite take on the pairing, like, ever?  I just love everything about it.  The fact that they grew up as childhood friends, the way they bring out the best in each other, the way their quests parallel and reinforce and intersect...it’s just Everything I Want, and the game’s explicit focus on it makes it all the more endearing.

Link Between Worlds: Not...really?  Like...in the broad strokes, you’d think it’d at least be a “maybe” given their story very deliberately parallels that of the LttP versions.  But the changes here, the less direct way Link and Zelda are connected via the story, blunts things enough that it loses the spark for me personally.

BotW: Yeah!  I really appreciate the ways we get to see Zelda’s view of Link change over time, and the game does a great job of making her feel like such a sympathetic and interesting character, and moreover does so in a way that is explicitly tied to Link’s POV, and the result is that we get such a good compelling sense of, not just WHAT these two feel for each other, but WHY. 

Bored so I wrote down whether I ship Zelink in various Zelda games.

Zelink Week '22 Day One: One Last Look

“What’s taking you so long? It better not be cold feet, because if it is I’ll have you keelhauled.”

Link managed to crack a grin despite himself—though he couldn’t quite drag his gaze away from the mirror.

“You wouldn’t keelhaul your own husband, now would you?”

“You’re not my husband yet,” Tetra said archly. “The ceremony will be starting soon, and if you aren’t there on time, you’ll be dragging those cold feet of yours along the plank.”

Link’s grinned widened. “Aw, Tetra, you wouldn’t make the only man who stole an engagement ring for you walk the plank, now would you?”

“Don’t test me,” Tetra replied, but an answering grin was in her tone. She rapped sharply on the door to his room. “Are you decent?”

Link frowned down at his coat, tugging it self-consciously. “Isn’t it bad luck to see each other before the wedding?”

Tetra correctly interpreted that as a yes and opened the door with a sharp kick. “I’m not afraid of bad luck,” She announced grandly, striding into the room with her head held high. “If anything, bad luck flees from me with it’s tail between it’s quivering legs—farore’s blistering winds.”

Link could see her in the mirror, paused half-way through a step, staring at him with wide eyes. He felt his gut clench and twist, tighter than a sailor’s knot. Heat crawled into his cheeks, and he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. “That bad?”

Tetra blinked, then her eyes shot wide open, and she snapped her head to one side,a flush crawling across her cheekbones. “Um. No. You’re… you’re good.”

That brought the grin back to Link’s face, and he sent Tetra a glance up and down of her own outfit.  “You don’t look half bad yourself.”

“Of course I don’t,” Tertra said confidently, before fixing the hero with a determined eye. “So what has you looking so glum over there?”

Link’s grin faded, and he turned back to the mirror, running a hand anxiously through his hair.

“Do… do you think he’d be proud?”

Tetra’s expression softened, but Link didn’t notice, too absorbed with examining his own reflection.

“I don’t know anything about being a King, and here I am, trying to follow in his footsteps. How could I possibly ever… measure up?”

Arms slid around his waist, and a chin came to rest on his shoulder; a warm, comforting weight.

“You just do as you’ve always done.”

Link blinked, meeting Tetra’s gaze in the mirror. For once, the pirate queen’s expression was almost solemn, with only a faint smile lifting the corners of her mouth. “King Daphnes isn’t the first figure of ancient history you’ve followed after, you know. This isn’t your first voyage, hero. You wanna make him proud? Set your own course and do your best. Besides, you have my own glorious self as Queen, so it’s not like you’re doing this alone.”

She squeezed a little tighter, leaning her head against his cheek, her smile deepening. “Don’t worry, he’s already proud of you.”

Link reached down, laying his hands over hers and squeezing gently. “You sure?”

Tetra sniffed. “Of course I’m sure. Triforce of wisdom, remember? I know everything.”

“Wisdom isn’t the same as knowing everything, you know.”

“Walking the plank is still an option, sailor.”

“You won’t make me walk the plank.” Link said confidently. Tetra narrowed her eyes, arching a dangerous eyebrow.

“What makes you so sure?”

With a quick movement, Link slipped around in her arms, bending down and stealing a kiss. After a long, enthusiastic moment, he pulled back, a satisfied smirk of his own on his face. “If I walk the plank, you won’t be getting any more of those.”

Tetra blinked, slightly dazed, which caused Link’s smirk to deepen. “…good point.”

There was a chime of bells, and they both jumped, shooting suddenly nervous gazes at each other.

“That’s our cue.” Tetra said, straightening her shoulders and patting down hairs Link had disturbed during their kiss a moment before.

“You’re just eager to have someone to delegate all the boring ruling stuff to.”

Tetra grinned, shrugging easily as she turned towards the door. “What can I say? Gotta be some perks in being Queen Regnant.” She put her hand on the knob, glancing back over her shoulder. “Coming, hero boy?”

Link cast one last look at the mirror. His coat was cut in lines reminiscent of a king he knew once, and yet the colors were his own, green edged with regal gold. He grinned, straightened his coat with a tug, and turned to his queen. “Let’s get this ship sailing.”

One Hundred Years Later~

“You can come in.”

The Hero of Spirits nervously poked his head around the door. The princess was standing in front of a mirror, frowning nervously at her reflection, so he took that as a cue to step into the room. “What’s wrong, your highness?”

The princess sent him a frown. “It’s Zelda, Link, we’ve talked about this.”

Link grinned. “Then, what’s wrong, Zelda? The coronation’s going to start soon.”

Zelda turned back to the mirror, fidgeting nervously with her hands. “Oh… I don’t know.” She shrugged helplessly. “Grandmama and Grandpapa were such great rulers… how am I supposed to live up to them?” Her voice dropped to a whisper. “How can I know if they’d be proud of me?”

Link blinked. “Oh, is that all?”

Zelda shot him a glare. The hero paled, frantically waving his hands. “No, I didn’t mean it like that! I mean—It’s just… you’ve already been doing an amazing job. You’re only going to be even more amazing as a queen, I just know it! Of course they’d be proud of you.”

Zelda blinked at him, a bright smile slowly spreading across her face, like the sun emerging from behind a cloud. Link felt his heart skip a beat at the sight, and he prayed he wasn’t blushing too noticeably.

Then she bounced forward and pressed a kiss against his cheek, and any hopes of his blush fading went out the window. Zelda bounced on, however, energy and excitement replacing her earlier nervousness.

She stopped in front of the door however, glancing over her shoulder, biting her lip. “You’re sure they’d be proud?”

Link snuck one last look at the spirits that stood to one side, a pirate queen and her hero king, who smiling fondly and so, so proudly at their granddaughter.

“Yeah, I’m sure.” Her answering smile was even more brilliant than before. “Then let’s get this train running.”

LU Deepest Fear Headcanons 2

Here are lu fear headcanons that I couldn’t fit in the last post. These are more like worries or less intense fears that the chain have (apart from the Wind fanfic idea at the bottom. If this has been done pls let me know in the comments). 

The link to part one is at the bottom with a few others. 

Warrior doesn’t inherently have a problem with women. He’ll show off a bit when he feels like it, chat them up and even playfully flirt. It’s the persistent ones who take the flirting too seriously and won’t take no for an answer that make him uneasy. There’s also a certain...’type’ that he’ll avoid even if they don’t even so much as look his way.

Warrior and Twilight have had bad experiences with fire. Our Captain had that fight with Volga in the first stage of HW which gave him those burn scars and Wolfie was chased out of his own village by people he knows and loves who were wielding flaming torches and pitchforks (not an in game thing, but it’s how I’ve always imagined it).

In BoTW you can’t go underwater. This may change come BoTW 2, but can I interpret this as Wild not liking to keep his head underwater for extended periods of time? Either due to something traumatic before the Calamity or as just a lighthearted quirk of his (like if for whatever reason he doesn’t open his eyes when swimming underwater).

Legend shuts out Koholint Island in his memories. It’s existence really confusing, because I myself don’t know it was real or not (tbf I haven’t finished Link’s Awakening). Therefore, I’ll headcanon that Legend doesn’t really know what the deal is with Koholint either. As a reasonable, logical and (thanks to his experiences) slightly cynical person, he’ll lean towards it all being a dream and the island not actually being real. But there’s unsureness in that conclusion, and that constant back and forth is what tears him up inside.

Time is still a little freaked out by Redeads and the undead in general. His experience exploring the Shadow Temple messed him up a little. Seeing the horrific acts the Sheikah committed under the orders of the Royal Family, would have made him realise that they are not the perfect rulers he thought they were. He’d have a distrust of the Sheikah and probably saw Sheik in a new light until they were revealed to be Zelda which just messes up thing further to him.

Wind has had to deal with Redeads too. And those terrifying zombie-like things have a less than savory habit of wrapping themselves around you and biting into your skull. That would traumatise the dickens out of anyone! I headcanon that he has scars from those encounters, maybe even bald patches from scar tissue, and since those aren’t fond memories he hides them as to not have to tell/remember that story. Not to mention that nightmare inducing awful scream! Time has had...well time, to move past this and so probably isn’t affected, but LU takes place a year or so after WW and PHG for Wind, so it’s still going to be fresh in his mind.

I need a short story where the chain encounters Redeads again. Wild acts all confident, telling them what to do- with Time and Warrior watching him proudly- and gets all hyped to fight them. However, upon hearing their scream he freezes up in terror and completely breaks down mentally while the others go ahead with the plan and protect him. Only for for him to spring into action when it looks like one of the chain are gonna get their heads chomped on. Then they talk it over and he shows them his scars (maybe Time has scars like that too and shows those), allowing him to start moving past it. -someone please write it or I will myself

Flash: Yeah, but Dick said they refuse to babysit. Something about fire and a stabbing?

GL: This is not gonna go well.

Superman, picking Damian up from school: Hey kiddo, you get to hang out with the JL tonight!

Damian: I am aware. Be warned, I have already defeated Red Robin, Red Hood, and Spoiler. My attacks will be swift and without mercy. As soon as we enter the manor the war begins.

Superman: Could we delay the war until you finish your after school snack?

Damian: ...

Superman: We have cookies and apple juice

Damian: Fine. The war begins after snack.

Flash, looking down at list: Okay. Pick the kid up from school, check. After school snack, check. Looks like it’s homework time!

Looks up, Damian is gone.

Flash: Uhh... Damian?

...

Flash: Oh god. I thought Clark was joking about the war.

Flash: I’m telling you he just disappeared!

Martian Manhunter (MM): Do not worry my friend. We will politely ask that the child reveal himself. If he refuses I will locate him with a telepathic link.

MM: Damian, reveal yourself.

...

MM: Fine, you leave me no choice.

5 minutes later.

Flash: C’mon MM it was just a flamethrower! Don’t leave!!

GL: Okay Damian, let’s just get through your homework, sound good?

Damian: Father told me your ring is powered by concentration.

GL, looks suspicious: ...yeah

Damian: Interesting. Would you help me with question 10?

GL: Uh, sure!

5 minutes later.

GL: Diana! The kid stole my ring and won’t give it back!

Wonder Woman (WW): I thought you could call the ring back?

GL: He locked it in a yellow box and locked that in a bigger wooden box.

Flash: Man, your weaknesses suck

Superman: When Damian called this a war I didn’t realize that he meant he was going to run us off one by one.

Flash: Yeah we’re already down two. Three if you count Aquaman, who never even showed up.

WW: this is rather concerning. He’s going through our ranks faster than any of the other robins ever did.

Flash: Did you forget Jason? That kid was awful

WW: If you ever insult my child again I will slit your throat

Flash: ...

Superman, whispering to Flash: Don’t insult Jason, he’s her favorite.

Flash: Thanks for the warning Clark.

Flash: Finally! We’ve finished your homework, now why don’t you and I go train while Clark makes dinner.

Damian: Tt fine.

30 minutes later

WW: Damian, Barry? Dinners ready

Damian: The Flash left 10 minutes ago. He asked me to tell you that he’s sorry and that he, quote, ‘can not deal with the Demon child any longer’

WW: What?! Why? What did you do to him??

Damian: I locked him in a freezing chamber until he admitted defeat.

WW: ...

Damian: ...

WW: You just lost your dessert privileges.

Superman, sitting down for dinner with WW and Damian: Okay Damian, listen. This has been a tough battle for everyone. MM was almost set on fire, GL lost his dignity, Flash was locked in a freezer, and you lost dessert privileges. How about we just call a truce?

Damian: Fine.

Superman: You put kryptonite in my water, didn’t you?

Damian: Yes, yes I did.

Since we’re making the boys sad; ‘the fight’ actually raises some interesting points about ST and how, although it doesn’t quite compare Spirit to Wind like Wind was compared to Mask, there are a few moments that impose unrealistic standards onto Spirit. I’m not sure how much you know about ST so I’ll refrain from going into too much detail here, but, in a way it’s entirely opposite from what Wind experienced. WW had characters say that Link wasn’t and couldn’t be a hero because he wasn’t the hero of Time, whereas ST has characters expect Link to live up to the standards of ‘the ideal hero’, which it mostly does in the form of putting him down when it’s implied that he’s scared. This only happens occasionally in the first half but it’s still kinda harsh when it does, as it ranges from comments that are dismissive of his fears, to straight up telling him to ‘buck up and get moving’. It does get better later on, but that doesn’t take away the impact that those comments probably had.

Of course, this is all just my own interpretation of these bits of dialogue, but the implications are there and I can definitely see how they could lead to Spirit internally comparing himself to Wind and having unhealthy standards for himself and what a hero is supposed to be.
