Hello Dimitri!
I really love your works - especially your yandere oc's and jjk content!- I was wondering if I can put in a request for a poly yandere of Geto and Gojo with a bottom male reader? I want to know how this relationship works when they were in their teens and now that their adults (Geto still choose to be a cult leader, also he does not die. My poor heart cannot handle the heartbreak of Geto dying and leaving Gojo and reader behind ). You can make it sfw or nsfw which either one you like! :)
Ps. Sorry for the long request, it is my first time requesting (0///0)
Two psychos is better than one right?~! (Yandere Geto suguru x male reader x yandere Satoru Gojo) âË°

A/N: this is a bit of a longer fic compared to others Iâve Iâve wrote, I put all my effort into this one! After some long writers block Iâve made it back around into writing again <33
Before the Riko incident you became a transfer at jujutsu high, you werenât really strong nor weak, you were the prime balance of an average guy who just wanted to be in the middle- as long as you helped others then that was fine by you, being well known seemed overrated anyway.
You never thought youâd get between the infamous duo, they were tight knit after all, they were all any jujustu student aspired to be and after all you were just a boy looking to make it through the academy without any complications
If you wouldâve known the outcome of transferring to this school you wouldâve stayed far away, how did you even enter their lives? You were put on their team as a balance, you were put there to be guided and who was better to guid you than you once upper class men Satoru?
You were put on their missions, it started simple, the three of you going against curses together but you noticed very quickly that your friendship meant more to them than what met the eye. The friendship you thought of as normal or even just knowing them out of same interests turned dark far to fast.
What stool out at you the most was during a mission when you were saving a civilian from a low level curse, after a hour the fight was over and you were clean from any wounds, the man just ran up to you muffling his words between tears grabbing your hands.
âthank youâI donât know what wouldâve happened if you didnât show up!â
The man hugged you and the next thing you knew you tilted your head and suguru was already pulling him off of you pushing the man away harshly throwing him to a wall of a near by store.
âWhat do you think youâre doing suguru?!â
You quickly ran forward to him pulling him away from the civilian leaving the man running off terrified, your hands reaching up to his uniform shaking him back and forth while yelling at him. All Geto seems to do is stare blankly like he didnât care what you did in the slightest.
âHe touched you [name], nobody should get up close and personal, unless itâs me or Satoruâ
âWhatâs that supposed to mean? You two arenât my damn keepers, we are friends Suguru- just friends!â
You look at him offended with your lips pressing in a thin line shoving him back and letting him go, walking off pushing past a confused Gojo leaving him tilting his head looking back at Geto with a âwhat did you do?â Face.
The next few days to pass you avoided Geto like the plague, only being around Gojo when he wasnât near Suguru.
Sitting in a cafĂŠ during the weekend with Gojo lifting your drink, the feeling was off and you werenât the biggest fan of how Gojo kept staring over at you but your dad was pushing you to be more like other boys your age, thatâs how you ended up calling Gojo on the water day morning after the incident with Geto.
âYou donât have to avoid him Yâknow [name]?â
Gojo breaks the silent looking at you with his eyes rolled forwards under his glasses watching your every move when you take a bite of whatever pastries you made him buy you.
âHeâs just so damn possesive Toru- itâs like he thinks Iâm his property..itâs just weirdâ
Gojo just gives a shrug, of course he would. Always sticking up and vouching for Geto like he was some sort of fan boy. What did you really expect? Gojo knew Geto before you, they had an uncanny close relationship and knowing all you know now looking back on it thatâs the reason Suguru didnât mind sharing you with Satoru.
âI think youâre overreacting, he was probably just worried about you, Iâm sure he did in in good intentionsâ
âYeah, whatever you say Toruâ
You shove down a few more bites while Gojo takes a sip of his tea, you couldnât shake the feeling of being watched but you always feel that way. Gojo kept trying to bring the topic back to Geto, trying to persuade you two to make up and apologize but you were just creeped out with his actions.
âCome on? Heâs our friend [name] you donât wanna be the one to put a wedge in our trio right?â
Gojo did his best to speak sweetly to you. Trying to convince you, and if that didnât work then heâd just whine and make you feel bad til you felt like you just had to forgive Suguru. You didnât wanna be the reason your friend ship fell apart with them right?âŚ
The next day was a Sunday and Gojo had practically done everything but force you to meet up with Geto. Gojo had used the fact he and Geto were on a mission looking after a girl as the perfect opportunity to finally get you three together.
You hear your phone ringing whilst you lay sprawled out in bed, itâs a Sunday morning after all, itâs the last day of your week to sleep in until next weekend.
âHello Toru..whyâre you calling me so early?..â
âI just wanted to ask if you wanted to come and hangout at the beach today? Me and Geto are gonna be watching after this girl for our mission and I really-really want you there [nicknaamee]â
You just let out a small sigh and groggily open your eyes up begrudgingly mumbling back out to Satoru when you hear his whiny voice on the other end of the phone pleading and going high pitch on the nickname he gave youâ
âFine Iâll come but donât let him act creepy Toruâ
After that day at the beach things fell right back in line, you and Suguru had made up, and Gojo was happy, after all his best friends had made up.
Then it went and happened, some assassin had killed who they were protecting- or so Satoru told you. You werenât there the day it had happened, you were on another mission with your upperclassman Nanami. Suguru wasnât the same after that point, he hardly talked to you or Gojo- he would just silently space out staring at you.
Then summer hit and when he had came back he wasnât the same at all, he was cold and distant and snapped at you over the slightest things. If you spent more time with Satoru than him then heâd give you the cold shoulder until you apologized despite your lack of knowing what you did wrong.
âI just donât understand why youâre acting like this Suguru?â
You walked along side Gojo after school one day following after Geto, your eyes were wide and your lips pressed firm.
âHey! Where are you goin?!â
Gojo ran faster than you walking forward more when Suguru stops and turns facing Gojo, their argument starts leaving you chiming in every few seconds standing next to Satoru, by the end of their fight Suguru just turns forward to walk away.
âSuguru wait! What the hell are you doing?â
You stand in utter disbelief for what was happening right in front of youâ this couldnât be happening? Your friendship was splitting up right before you and suguru, the boy that was eerily close around you was leaving you now.
You didnât think you were going to be that affected over the loss but it left you confused on how you felt.
The days following that incident the team had drifted apart but you and Gojo had a newfound closeness but you couldnât shake the feeling of always being watched, it felt like all eyes were on you even when you were walking through your dorm, that must just be the paranoia that comes with being a jujustu sorcerer right?
By the time you had graduated from Jujustu high, Gojo was already number one, you were happy for him of course as any friend would be. Eventually by the ripe age of twenty you take up a teaching job at jujustu high after a long time of Satoru pestering you to take the job with him.
âIf I take the job will you just shut up Toru?â
âOf course I will! I promise [nickname]â
You eventually get tasked over the same team as Gojo, which you found strange. Not that Gojo didnât totally pull strings to make them place you two together. The teams you were mentoring were names Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi, the boy that Gojo had been watching after ever since he fought with his father- you think heâs the son of that assassin that killed Riko.
The Jujustu world became hectic, not that it was new but it became crazier than usual especially after finding out that Yuji boy had ate one of the king of curses fingersâ how was he even alive after that?
Over the years of being a Jujustu sorcerer you had seen and dealt with many things and you couldnât deny you never thought youâd see Suguru again, not after what he did to his parents- you had just assumed he was gone for good. For some odd reason Gojo never seemed too concerned it felt as though he knew something you never did.
You remember earlier in the day hearing Satoru asking you to take the subway with him later after classes had ended, something about this new place he wanted to take you too and knowing Gojo and his Expensive tastes you had just expected another luxury restaurant so imagine the confusion on your face when you see a old Japanese style parlor.
You walk right in behind Gojo, following confused seeing the dark colored interior and dim lights, non sorcerers walking out of the place wearing matching robes.
âWhat is this place Toru?â
âItâs just a parlor ran by an old friendâ
The way he hummed those words with a smirk made you feel uneasy, this place felt cultic, the purple walls and candles lit around the halls leading towards a pair of Japanese styled double doors, Satoru opens them ushering you inside. Your senses feel different in this room, it smells sweet and all you can do is feel fuzzy inside, were you being laced?
When you come to again you open your eyes half way seeing two figures hovering above you. Softness is all you can seem to feel right now, youâre laying on something soft, maybe a pillow? Itâs fluffy and all you wanna do is close your eyes and succumb again, your body is weak and you only muster up enough strength to open your eyes when you feel a hand undoing your pants.
Your eyes roll around a little in their sockets before focusing in on the two figures, they look like yin and yang- one has white hair, itâs GojoâŚis thatâ
âSuguru?â
His name sounds pathetic when you slur your words looking up at him letting out a little whine seeing his robes, where has he been and why was he dressed like a messiah. What was happening? All those thoughts are postponed when you feel hands pulling your cock out of your boxers.
âYou have no idea how much Iâve missed you [name], god you know how hard it is to not be able to touch you? To not hear my name from your mouth? Itâs torture sweetheartâ
âAwe suguru! You told me the cameras I put in his apartment were close enough?â
Satoru and Geto conversation while kneeling before your body, one of them on either side of you with Suguruâs hand on your cock playing with the soft flesh and teasing it. Your body felt too many things to let your mind properly think.
âYouâre alive?â
Those words come out shakily with your body shuddering feeling the warm palm of his hand under the base of your cock pulling a few strokes while Satoru leans down more sliding your shirt up your body, lifting your arms up and discarding it while you lay on your back in the parlor. Your eyes seeing candles lit around the room next to a picture of Getoâ this was a cult.
âOf course Iâm alive? Why wouldnât i be [name]?âŚyou know me and Satoru will never leave youâ
âLook at him Suguru, heâs so loopy, I told you that gas was too strong~â
Your cock pulses in his hand with your nipples erect from the cool air, your body heating up and your cock starting to leak precum.
âWhatâre you two doing?â
The words fall weakly while you lay on the pillows with your eyes circling in on Geto the whole time he touches your cock, your eyes rolling over to Gojo when he coos words to you talking you through it while your hands tremble pulling at the pillows.
âWhat weâve wanted to do since day one [name]â
Suguru hums, leaning in more stroking your cock a little faster and moving his way between your thighs before craning his neck backwards whispering out something to Gojo. Gojo groans and pouts, taking his hands off your body and getting up walking off and out of the room leaving you and Suguru alone.
When Gojo comes back heâs holding a bottle of strawberry flavored Lube, Geto letâs go of your now hard cock and turns you over on your stomach, Gojo tossing Suguru the lube while he squirts the lube all up and down your crack, sitting the lube aside and squishing your cheeks together over and over making the lube smear around in between your cheeks.
âAll I can think about is how youâll taste, I hope Satoru donât get mad I eat you up firstâ
Geto leans down kissing your arch and holding your hips sliding them down to your ass cheeks and slowly pulling them apart while grinning up at Gojo, watching the white haired man undoing his slacks and pulling out his cock, Gojo slaps his tip to your lips still soft.
âToru please-â
âCâmon, suck it hard fâme?â
Before you can respond Geto has his faced buried between your cheeks eating you out like your his last meal, his tongue sliding up and down your crack and back down to your rim.
When your lips part to gasp, Gojo takes that as his chance to shove his cock down your throat making your lips wrap around him gagging and tearing up laying on your stomach with Satoruâs hand reaching down to grab a handful of your locks making you tilt your head back and look up at him.
âHowâs it taste [name]?â
You canât seem to muster a word, feeling Getoâs tongue going flat against your rim and pressing its way inside you while he reaches one hand under you to grab back ahold of your cock, Suguru starts stroking you in time with his tongue while aiming your cock down towards the pillows in jerking motions like he was milking you.
Gojo and Geto share gleaming looks, they were on cloud nine finally getting the intimacy from you they had longed after for years. Gojo thrusts his hips forward slowly making your cheeks bulge with every motion, his cock now fully hardened in your mouth hitting the back of your throat making vibrations around his base when you wail out.
âPoor baby is all delirious isnât he Satoru?â
Geto smile against your flesh, pressing sloppy wet kisses to your rim rolling his own eyes back at the taste of strawberry and you on his tongue leaving a satisfaction in his stomach with his cock hard under his robes being pressed to his hip.
Gojo keeps stroking your hair before starting to lift your head by your hair and bob your mouth up and down on his cock making you deep throat him to the point your face was buried in his white pubes.
âSuguâtworu ple~â
Your words come out choppy around his cock. You speak with your mouth full feeling your throat hurting and the hot tears in your eyes streaming down your cheeks being used by the two men unable to put up a fight due to the drugs in your system keeping you weak between the men.
The feeling of Getoâs tongue swirling around your insides makes your head go fuzzy again, you just wanna close your eyes but you canât because yours are locked on Gojoâs bright blue ones, have they always been as blue as they are now? The look of pleasure on his faces makes knots build in your stomach knowing youâre the cause for his half closed eyes.
âOh youâre so close arenât you? Donât even gotta answer I can tell [name]â
Geto can tell by the way your rim greedily puckers around his tongue and the amounts of precum oozing from your tip that youâre on the verge of your orgasm. His hand keeps working you between your thighs leaving your legs trembling laying on your stomach when a wave of heat floods your whole body making you moan around Gojoâs cock.
Your tip starts to swell angrily under Getoâs thumb, when his tongue laps your prostate it pushes you past your breaking point making you lose it, cumming all over the pillows, staining the purple fabrics with an off white stain making Gojo look down at you with his signature smirk.
âMhmfâ heâs a fuckin squirter Satoruâ
âSuguru you should just feel how heâs gagging on me right now-â
They talk about you like you arenât there, using you for their own pleasures you feel Geto pulling his face from your cheeks with one last lick pulling his tongue out of you leaving your s/c ass all sticky from a mix of spit and lube.
Geto starts lifting up his robes pulling them up over his head throwing them to the side with a smile, wearing black boxer briefs with a prominent bulge inside them with a dark patch of black hair trailing down his abdomen giving Satoru little to the imagination.
Suguru slides his fingers under his boxer waist band pulling them down his thighs allowing his cock to spring forward and press to his stomach.
âI would ask if youâre ready [name] but you probably shouldnât speak with your mouth full~â
His voice is cold and mocking not giving a damn about Satoru face fucking you like a fleshlight. Suguru pulls your slick cheeks apart again thrusting his cock up and down your crack getting himself lubed up with the mixed substances.
Gojo reached his thumb down tracing over your full cheeks, watching how your throat bulges more and more the deeper he pushes himself inside your mouth fucking your eyes to reverse watching how they looked away from him and into the back of your head with a teary face that could arouse any man.
âI need-air tworu~â
Your drool running down your chin with your cock half limp between your thighs from how Geto jerked you off leaving you already feeling empty. Suguru reaches his hands up and grips your hips tightly nudging his cockhead against your rim watching while it stretches wide in a sad attempt to fit him, his cock feels like itâs tearing you in half.
âFuck!~ hurts Suguruââ
You gasp when Satoru pulls his cock from your mouth leaving you fishing the purple pillows clenching up around Geto while he lazily pushes in, he doesnât pay mind to it hurting you, he rubs small circles on your hips before bottoming himself all the way inside you with your rim leaving a little blood in with the lube from being stretched so much you tore.
âShh, now you know you can take it canât you [nickname]â
Gojo drops your head letting it fall forward with your teary face in the purple pillows, your lips all swollen and your throat feeling like razors doing nothing but keeping you from screaming anymore. Your voice is weak and all you can do is hold the pillows and let out little squeals around Suguru.
âSuguru- pleaseeââ
You get shut up again by Satoruâs cock, he doesnât tap his tip to your lips like last time, he forced his whole cock back down your drool filled throat making a slobbery mess running down your face while you reach one hand back trying to push Suguruâs hands off your hips.
âDonât even try it [name] you know better, god youâre still as feisty as the last time I seen youâ
Suguru reached one hand forward holding both your wrists tightly leaving promising red marks while he slowly thrusts his hips forward pushing your face more into Satoruâs groin when Suguru starts to fuck you from behind holding you and binding you with his hands keeping you all defenseless but at this point with the way his cock is sliding against your inner walls you canât even properly think.
âThere you go [nickname] youâre so good at this arenât you? I think he was made for two cocks Suguruâ
Gojoâs blindfold hanging around his neck with his large hand around the back of your head holding it in place while he rocks his hips forward making his veins start prodding against the roof of your mouth more showing you he was close.
âHmfh!~ Toruuâ
You whine wanting to reach your hand down and start touching your cock, you needed to come so bad but you couldnât do anything but depend on them to make sure you got off. Suguruâs cock pressed against your prostate milking your insides with his base stretching your channel to fit his cock like he was trying to mold you.
âDoes our boy wanna come that bad?â
Geto asks you with a fake confused tone fucking you a little harder holding your hands behind your back with one hand using the other to reach down and lift your left thigh up forcing his cock inside you at a deeper angle making you feel every vein and curve to his cock.
âMh hmm-!â
Youâre so far gone you canât bother to care about every messed up thing these men are doing to you, all your mind can process is âneeda comeâ your back arches and you start trying to bob your head under Satoruâs hand trying to earn good graces from him when you look up at him with your wide eyes batting your lashes back and forth like a doll.
âOh whatâs this? I think heâs starting to be a good boy Satoru, you think we should let him come?â
Suguru asks Satoru with a smug smile holding your thigh tight fucking your insides raw with your rim all puffy and wrapped around his cock split open wide now accepting him with ease with the room in the parlor filling up with lewd squelches from the mix of lube and his spit making wet sounds when his hips hit your ass cheeks.
Plap-plap-plap, the sounds silently echo throughout the room while you just stare up at Gojo with a full mouth before feeling his load shoot down your throat spilling all over the back of your throat and running down the roof of your mouth leaving the pungent taste on your lips.
âI think we should let him come Suguru- heâs been actin nice hasnât he?â
âI think youâre right Toru~ good boys deserve rewards after allâ
Geto letâs your arms go reaching back down between your thighs starting to jerk your cock like he did before, fucking you rougher with his chubby cock head pulsing and twitching on your prostate putting a strong pressure in your stomach threatening to break over at any moment.
Satoruâs cock slips out of your mouth letting you finally breath and gasp for air while Gojo stares down at your face stroking his soft cock hard again and aiming it at your fucked out face watching you get pounded from behind by Geto.
âClose- just a little more- suguru pleasee~!â
You start letting out whiny moans and sounds you never new your voice could make when his thumb runs right across your slit, staring up at Gojo the whole time with your teary face ruined and covered in tears and drool with your hair messy from Gojoâs pulling. Geto keeps going bucking his hips forward harshly rutting himself into you going deep as he can pressing his balls to your backside feeling your rim spasming ready to orgasm around him.
When Suguru flicks his wrist holding the base of your cock it sends you over the edge arching your back under him clenching around his cock and holding onto the purple fabric beneath you, orgasming so hard your ears start ringing making everything in the room feel surreal when you come in Getoâs hand.
âThere he goes Suguru- oh thatâs such a beautiful face youâre making [nickname]â
Your come floods over Suguruâs thumb and spilling onto the pillows under you making you wail and cry at the nearly dry orgasm being pulled from your cock having you stiffening up under the two men with your nose scrunched in a over stimulated pleasure.
âIâm getting close [name], gonna flood these insidesâ
When Gojo hears those words he starts stroking his cock faster at your face watching his two best fiends fucking eachother with you laying all out of it and fuzzy from the drugs having you limp under Geto when he lets your thigh down to mount you more fucking your motionless body making you feel how his cock nudged you on its own before his flood gates break.
âO-oh hng~ suguru-â
The words come out high pitched and louder than the last when his come floods your anal cavity, the warmth surrounds your prostate in a hot sensation leaving you feeling all bloated and full from his seed, your hole instinctively starts to clench and unclench around him milking the rest of his load out of him while Gojo lets out a groan watching the whole scene play out before him.
âHere it comes [nickname]â
Those words were the only warning that Gojo gave you before his orgasm shoots across your face all over your nose and lips running down your chin, mixing in with your spit and tears leaving you completely ruined from the two men, with two loads in your tummy and another on your face leaving you spent.
âI canât take no more Toru~ Suguru I canât-â
âBut you gotta [nickname] ! I havenât even got to feel your hole yet~â
Gojo lets out a whine while Geto lets go of your cock and pulls out of your ass, using his thumb to push any come that oozes from your hole back inside you while he rotates with Gojo letting Satoru get right behind you swapping places, god! At this rate it was gonna be a real long night.
âToru- I canât take itâ
You droop your head down feeling his hands flipping you over back into your back on the pillows feeling your come stained pillow fabric pressed to your skin making you cringe, Satoru lifts up one of your legs placing it up on his shoulder nudging your sore rim with his cock while Suguru adjusts himself now facing at your head pressing his cock against your come stained lips.
âDonât lie, we know you can take it [nickname], you were made to take it babyâ
âHeâs right baby, we know you can handle itâ
They donât take your weak response as an answer, Gojo slowly pushes his cock into your already stretched hole, sliding in easily from Getoâs come and lube. Your chest aiming up at the air arching splayed on your back with your cock red and soft unable to harden from being milked to many times by the men.
Suguru pushes his cock pash your lips delving it into your wet cavern. Your throat bulges again from your now full mouth, your whole body aches and hurts but all you can do is lay still and take it. Gojo gives you no time to rest before he lifts your other leg up in the air holding you in a mating press while jackhammering into you.
âFuck Suguru, youâre right his hole feels so fucking goodâ
Geto hums in response shuddering a little when your canines graze over a sensitive vein on the underside of his cock making him reach his hand down choking your throat a little bit as a warning making your fission blur from the lack of oxygen and the way Gojo was fucking you, reaching more spots than Suguru if that was even possible.
âAh- careful with your teeth baby, donât chew on it. Suck itâ
Your thighs start trembling pressed to your chest with Gojo dipping his face down and burying his face into your pecks like a madman, taking one nipple into his mouth and sucking on it. His hips roll forwards lifting and reaching down to pull your hips, pulling you back onto his cock with your moans being gagged by Suguruâs cock.
âTâmuush~ too stuffed Suguru~â
You roll your eyes back into your head looking up at Geto above you with your nose pressed to his balls from the angle he was fucking your mouth at leaving Satoruâs cum all smeared across your face like a sticky mess. Your cock half limp and tender against your inner thigh while it rests on your stomach leaking a little puddle.
âYou sucked Satoru off fine, I think you can handle me too [name], now donât start acting defiant again on usâ
The way Geto spoke to you made you whine sadly unable to fight either of them, the drug still in your system and the way they were trying to consume your body whole left you mute sucking on his cock while Gojo pressed his chest up against yours making your toes curl up when he thrusts forward and nails your sweet spot head on.
âDonât be so mean to him Suguru, heâs just about used up Sâ allâ
Satoru coos out to Suguru while he makes the pillows dip under the shared weight of him on top of you, Getoâs come swirling around your insides and trickling down your thighs around the base of Gojoâs cock while Gojo bites down on your nipple again only pulling his mouth off of your flesh to speak.
âIâm getting close [name], doâ you want it down your throat or face?â
Geto asks looking down at you feeling his balls drawing up against your cheek signaling he was close to his peak. Gojo on the other hand didnât care about Suguruâs orgasm, he was too busy trying to chase his own inside your stomach. Your rim starts burning and stinging from being used and gaping around a cock for so long leaving you in painful pleasure.
âOn mâ face~â
You whimper out quietly just not wanting to have to taste another load or feel more come inside your stomach. Reaching one hand down whining when you start to touch your cock, it felt like touching a stiff rod, your hand slowly moved up and down it crying to have to pull another orgasm but you needed to come so bad.
âYou canât do that [nickname] you gotta come from me or Suguru, so no touchin yourselfâ
Before you can respond or complain Satoru has his free hand slipping off your hip and down onto your cock, quickly swatting your hand away from it. His strokes arenât gentle like yours were, his are fast and unorganized like his thrusts are. Gojo takes his mouth off your nipple and shoves his face in your neck while Suguru keeps fucking your mouth, his thrusts slow down pulling out of your mouth with his cock jumping on its own.
âThere we go [name] see what you do to us?â
Your ass feels sore and red from hips slapping against them over and over but before you can complain a hot load shoots all over your face spilling into your eyelashes and into your mouth making you taste his come, he tasted sweeter than Gojo, his semen more thick and less opaque than Satoruâs.
âIâm getting close Sa-Toruu~â
Your voice cracks from a sore face fucked throat, your lips are all sticky and cracked in the corners from opening your mouth too wide, your lips part and ho agape making an âOâ shape when Gojo bites at the crook of your neck licking over the red marks heâs leaving on your S/c skin.
Your abdomen starts feeling hotter and more tense making you sweat underneath Satoru when his cock teases your insides making your legs feel like jello up in the air with your knees bent over his shoulders. By the way Gojo was tensing up and the muscles of his shoulders stiffened beneath your finger nails you could tell he was about to come.
âMe too- youâre just milking it out of me [nickname]â
His hand works harder and faster against your cock making you groan starting to orgasm shaking and crying with hardly any semen able to spill from you. Your tip starts leaking barely any pre come, you begin orgasming dry making Geto smile above you happy to know they had milked your body dry, Suguru reaches his hand down stroking your cheek while Gojo plows you between your thighs making the room spin through your eyes.
Soon the feeling of warmth in your gut hits you again letting you know Satoru had just found his release inside you, his semen seeping out of you overflowing your hole leaving the thin strings of his come running down your thighs and staining the pillows beneath the two of you.
âToruu.. Iâm soo sore-â
You whisper out under him reaching one hand up to his neck and grabbing his hair with your other hand still on his shoulder. Rolling your eyes forwards looking up at Suguru with your insides flooded and your face ruined- god you canât handle these two insane men- Theyâre something else!

omg the collective pronouns vs first person yes thank you for noticing i can always count on you to notice all the details (even those i haven't noticed myself LOL)
YES OMG we are manipulated and aware and trapped and in love and also wanting to be free we are â¨confusedâ¨
AND YES MY FAV DETAIL from going to being the salvation of the common people, 'they will, for the sake of loyalty, put a blindfold over their eyes. they will hold him in high reverence as he becomes their lord, their saviour' TOOOO he is 'your lord, your saviour' WHO ARE WE ARE WE THE COMMON PPL
seonghwa:
what do you mean you had to google what jekyll was about DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO/WHAT JEKYLL AND HYDE IS (screams do you not get the concept) (<-i've been using tiktok too much)
with park seonghwa... you gotta be delusional to function man
HELP AHAHAHAHA PREYING WHY DID ANIMALS BY MAROON 5 STARTED PLAYING IN MY HEAD WHEN I READ THAT LINE
LMAO okay miss ma'am i see you're the obsessive kind hmm *takes note*
lmao yes the soul society was supposed to be an alternate term for their society name but i came up with nothing better (i was cbs) so soul society it is
THEY'VE TEASED EACH OTHER ENOUGH IT'S TIME TO GET 𤪠FREAKYY
bruh so real story: i made seonghwa an alter-ego serial killer first, right. but... it wasn't working for me, bc for that to be impactful with someone like seonghwa, i felt like the reader had to be the victim or be morally white at first. but then it would become a story about seonghwa morally corrupting the reader (i think i should make that a separate fic) anddd then i decided seonghwa is a saint in all universes and must not get his hands directly dirty LOL idk i failed to write him as a true villain he's so morally white coded that all i could get to was morally grey seonghwa yfeel
yunho
AHAHAHA yes hunter yunho with that moodboard HITS (also another real story i planned to make him a stalker/serial killer but then i was like there's so much stalker stuff out there and then i spent some good time thinking what other villains he can make. cult leader- again, a lot of fics about it. so serial killer it is. again. basically guerrilla LOL)
can there be one yunho fic without a mention of his hand in my blog? if that happens, that's not me. that's an impostor.
how would girlie know he kills for fun when it's THE JEONG YUNHO come on chron we know we all would fold instantly
i'll fix him :D (i want him to fix me-)
YES AHAHAHAHA THOSE QUOTES are some of my fav from bleach and yes about your analysis that's not what i intended but if it comes off like that to the reader, that's a bonus for me bro (i actually wrote all of this fic head empty no thoughts so surprisingly the details you've caught in this, 90 percent happened on their own)
yeosang
oooo not even bones sounds interesting but yeah medical malpractice and stuff like this happens a lot in real life unfortunately :/
lmao the imagery right ahhahahaha đ just tired but can't-wait-to-see-the-loml yeosang coming for his daily kiss before he gets back to work LOL
THE GUTS WAS UNINTENTIONAL TOO SEE NOTHING SO FAR HAS BEEN INTENTIONAL BUT THANK YOU FOR ANALYSING THIS FIC LIKE A LITERATURE STUDENT LOVE YOU
RIGHT that bleach quote when i tell you i've been ITCHING to use it somewhere since i first came across it and only to end up using here is kinda diabolical djfghdfkgh
yeosang and chicken are besties again if i don't mention chicken in a yeosang fic? impostor
san
WAREHOUSE MENTION HEHEHE
yess also one of my fav quotes hehe and omg that quote hits too i'm gonna save it for sth in the future (also literally who do i need to sell my soul to to come up with the juiciest dialogues like tite kubo does)
yeah so san was the 3rd or 4th member i wrote (yeosang first and seonghwa second and maybe yunho after) and by that time i had already lost the plot (of how villains was not supposed to be cute fluff like THIS) but i'm happy with how this turned out anyway :')
yepp i'm gonna try doing the judge, jury and executioner trio fr in some fic in the future (says i who is taking a break from writing LOL it's never a break with me)
mingi
youth mv mingi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
yep very domestic now this was intentional AHAHAHA thank you for commenting on it <3
RISKING IT ALL FOR A TIP LIKE A TRUE KDRAMA LEAD okay but when i write and i need to think about plot twists or whatever i usually think of my fic like a kdrama too and play it in my head so yes you can see the influence here
ahaha i'm glad i got mingi's characterisation good bc honestly for me he's been the hardest to write (bc he's literally me i'm literally mingi minus the being scared and jumpy part we're literally the same ppl)
omgg yes now that comparison you made thank you that put a smile on my face (says i who's been giggling the entire time i read your reblog)
EXCUSE ME WDYM YOU (H)ATE HIM DFGHDKJFGH IM CALLING THE COPS
real tho. mingi's was my fav to write too which is why i'm hoping i can make a full fic out of this and have exactly this painting scene somewhere :'))
wooyoung
wooyo MADE for e2l fics ngl
lmao your wooyo feedback is so funny WDYM GET IN LINE FDJGHKDFG
no but the clash between their jobs/morals and then their attraction. doomed lovers. oh, how i love doomed lovers :')
jongho
RIGHT my fav reader character was the jongho one we love a powerboss girly slay pop who's got crazy comebacks huehuehe
but yes the vulnerability in between this game they're playing. ahhh. they need to sit down and have a drink and really, really talk about why they are the way they are
AND YES i loved this lil moment where jongho tells reader to stand up straight like?? we love a man who recognises a woman's worth. the only time he'd want the reader to not stand up straight and maybe bend and maybe maybe be on her knees is when she finally submits to him iykwim-
BUT YES he remains a (loveable) little shit
YOU WILL NEVER OWN ME says she when in reality we all know that's not happening we fold way too easily-
Ateez as Villains
disclaimer: read at your own risk. do not interact if not comfortable with any tropes. reminder that this is a work of fiction and must be treated so.Â
warnings: absolutely no morals here, 18+ mdni, illegal acts (abduction, murder, physical abuse, stalking, trafficking, financial crimes, dirty politics, corruption), suggestive/nsfw scenes, explicit language (swearing, insults), death, violence, blood & injuries, weapons, smoking, drugs, alcohol
a/n: couldn't have done this without @eightmakesonebraincell's and @chronicvagabonds' validation lmao also tribute to tite kubo for coming up with the juiciest dialogues, some of which i quoted here
Hongjoong
The Manipulator
hongjoong always knew he had leadership skills
from being the team leader whenever he played games as a young child, to growing up and eventually influencing people
he was often told that he has a certain way of pulling peopleâs attention and leave something stirring inside them with his words
so it is no surprise that hongjoong is where he is today. a renowned businessman, philanthropist and⌠politician
hongjoong adjusts the sleeves of his shirt and glances at you from the mirror
you are standing behind him, holding his coat for him. he wears it with a proud smile and holds his chin high
âtonight is very important. for me. for this country.âÂ
he goes on about how there will be people from all over the country
people who are the foundation of this nation. people who care about the future of this worldÂ
and if you werenât so blinded by the adoration you have for this man you would have called him delusional
but the fact is that you are deluded by him. hongjoong has the ability to cast a spell with his words
he feeds his supporters the lie of a better world in the near future, and they bow to him
hongjoong smiles devilishly at the thought of what entails the events of tonight
he can picture it clearly- the cheers and desperate screams of his followers as he steps on the podium
the cries of these people, as helpless as sheeps in a herd, waiting for an upright politician to save this nationÂ
he can feel the thrill just imagining what it will be like tonight when he addresses the nation as the new face of his political party
to a common person, he would just be another man with a good heart striving for a better change
but the common person is weak, and for them⌠he is their salvation
they will hear his words tonight- words he has carefully crafted himself. the cues will register in their minds, and they will end up seeking him to announce their undying support and loyalty, to shower in his glory
you straighten hongjoongâs coat and smooth over his shirt, your hands unsteady with anticipation
âarenât you happy to be right next to me when i conquer the stage tonight?â he whispers, lifting your chin up
you meet his eyes and he can see his answer there
you hope he doesnât see the conflict in your eyes. the conflict is to be concealed in your heart, in the deepest, untouchable corner of it
you are blessed, they tell you, to be the politicianâs favoured
and you are- you truly are. hongjoong loves you. he adores you
in fact⌠heâs almost obsessed with you
and why wouldnât he be? you were the one who led him here
you were the one who held his hand and showed him the right path- his partner, and now his secretary
oh, how you sometimes wish you could turn back the hands of the clock and go back to when hongjoong was hopeless and thought that the world was a wretched place beyond saving
that is when you told him that the only way to run this world was to join hands with the elites of this nation- or to become one
it must be the fates that led him to where he is today
after all, isnât he a king without a crown? a ruler without a throne?
he is a born leader and a strategist. he has always been good with his words
itâs how he earned the favour and graces of the elites and the politicians and made a place for himself- not under them, but beside them
but to stand beside those people, you have to be a little⌠corrupt. and morally ambiguous
the world is not run by saints, after all
âsweetheart?â he calls when he sees you are distracted
you donât miss the warning tone in his voice. tonight, you have to be on your toes
you have to seek out willing supporters and show them that they mean the world to hongjoong and his political party
but more importantly⌠you need to target other politicians, find their weaknesses and if lucky, have some join hands with you
âiâm here,â you tell him and he nods firmly, pressing a kiss to your temple
âi will see you tonight,â he promises, and you know what he means
he always gets such a thrill out of playing the leader
he gets so much energy, and he has to take it out one way or another
and what better way to take it out in the form of lovemaking?
you feel warmth course through your body as he trails his finger down the middle of your chest purposely
he almost smiles maniacally as he leaves first, giving you a moment to gather your wits
you pour yourself a glass of drink- you canât possibly do this sober
you join hongjoong as he gives his first speech- a very normal talk about how this nation is on the verge of collapse
corruption, crime, inhumanity, dirty politics? you name it
you admire his resilience, really. whatever he is talking about comes straight from his heart, and he has been talking about these issues for a long time now
you also admire his pompousness and the audacity to talk about dirty politics, when he is the face of dirty politics
you join the audience when they clap for him, your heart full of pride
there is a break where he meets with the high-profile people and asks them to consider joining hands with him
âto make a better world for the future generationsâ. such inspiring words from such a young political leader
except hongjoongâs trick is that he always, always has something over them
he has a team dedicated specifically for this task- to dig dirt on his political targets so he can wield them like the blade of a guillotine over their heads
despite his evil means to climb the top, somehow, his image and reputation remains far too clean
and that is because he knows to take these actions behind the scenes, away from any eyes
a true politician, heâs been dubbed
it is about midnight when the hall almost empties, leaving only the members of your party and some new faces- people who are willing to hear him out and decide if they want to join his party
you wish you could tell them that it is a trap- hongjoong will promise that their efforts and support will lead them to something great
âthe greater goodâ, he always says, except these people do not know what they are getting into
they are merely sacrificial lambs, the stepping stones that will lead hongjoong closer to his utopia
they will, for the sake of loyalty, put a blindfold over their eyes. they will hold him in high reverence as he becomes their lord, their saviour
he will feed them copper pellets and claim that this is the best that they can get while he himself sits on a throne made of gold
and when they empty every last drop of whatever they have to offer- their blood, sweat and tears
hongjoong will discard them without remorse. that is who he is- a master manipulator
when you are done wrapping up the event in the deep, dark hours of the night, hongjoong finds you in your bedroom
his chest is heaving with energy that is threatening to combust from within him
he outstretches his hand and you saunter over to him
his hands are dominating when he holds you, though his kiss is soft and unrushed
until that too becomes scalding hot
he is quick to lead you to the couch where you sit on his lap, finding him painfully hard
he groans loudly and starts to unbuckle his pants, and you instantly know what he wants- you always know what he wants
he easily slides his hard length inside your warmth and groans heavily in relief, resting his head back and just letting you both stay still
you only move to rest your head against his shoulder. he can have you like this for as long as he wants
âwe have a lot of new supporters tonight,â he begins, chuckling deeply, âthe polls seem to be in our favour too.â
his dark curls caress your face as you snuggle against him
âwe also managed to score deals with many influential politicians and businessmen tonight,â he tells you and you look at him with pride as he names them
âsoon,â he begins, trailing his hands under your dress and squeezing your thighs, âsoon⌠we will have our people in every sector- in business, healthcare, industrial, courts⌠we will be controlling the nation- we⌠we are the leaders of this nation.â
his cock twitches inside you as he finishes that sentence and you bite your lips in thought
âwhat are you thinking, love?â he asks, caressing your face
âi just sometimes wonder,â you begin- can you admit your bare thoughts to him?
he squeezes your thigh as a sign to go ahead
âi wonder how we got here, joong,â you admit, âyou know that we are exploiting people-â
âfor the greater good-â
âfor the greater good, yes,â you finish, nodding and he furrows his brows in concentration
âthese people are just like us. we were once slaves of this society, but now we are the leaders. and they are our slaves. butâŚâ
âthey will offer us what they have,â hongjoong replies softly, âand we will make the best out of it. isnât that right?â
you nod. there is no more space for any more questioning
you have never like the darkness in his eyes when you question his- your- methods
all he knows is that he is right
he knows what he is doing is wrong in essence, but it is about the bigger picture- he is doing this for his nation
and you cannot expect to run a nation claiming to be a saint
the nation is run by wolves, and to make space there, you must be some sort of a predator. that is who he has become
his grip on your thighs tighten and he starts to grind your body on him
between the sounds of pleasure is the groan of pain as he spanks your thighs and remind you of your place
âall you have to do is follow me,â he breathes into your ear, trailing his lips across your cheek. âall you have to do is stay with me. togetherâŚâ he thrusts hard inside you. âtogether, we will rule the world one day, you and i.â
you nod and he swallows your moans as he kisses you, thrusting with all his might until you both come crashing down
he takes you to the shower and you both quickly clean up and get in bed
as you watch his figure relax and succumb to sleep, you confess to him
âyou are a great politician, hongjoong,â you tell him and the corners of his lips curl in a smile. âiâm just afraid of going too far with you. every day, we learn that we can get worse than we are, yetâŚâ
âyet, it has become my addiction and my duty,â he whispers, hand finding your bare arm and caressing it. âdonât you want to rule the world?â
âyou will rule the world. i will be treading on your shadow, following you closely and sharpening my teeth⌠but afraid.â
âafraid of what?â
âof you,â you breathe and he opens one eye
âyou wonât leave me, will you?â he asks innocently, yet it is there- the warning in his tone
you are responsible for who he is today. you are an accomplice
every person he ruins to get closer to the top, you are equally responsible for it
âof course not,â you tell him, âi canât leave you.â
hongjoong notices your choice of words
you can not leave him- you do not have a choice
he holds you close and kisses you like he means it that night
it would be such a shame if he would have to throw you away after all of this, right?Â
it would truly be such a shame if you are just like the others in the end- weak and helpless
since you know exactly what is going on inside hongjoongâs head, you tell him you love him like you really mean it and you let him hold you close
it may be a trap, but you donât mind being trapped if this is where you end up every night- in his arms
your lord, your saviour
The Manipulator and the Manipulated
Seonghwa
Jekyll
park seonghwa is a man who is adored wherever he goes
be it at work- at a prestigious university as a neuroscience professor, dr. park, or at social gatherings, formal or informal
he is a man born with the best manners, the most caring and generous heart
youâve seen him around the department as a masters student and attended a few of his classesÂ
but you never got to interact with him personally until itâs time to choose a thesis supervisor and you learn that you have a chance with him
itâs purely because heâs amazing at what he doesÂ
your subfield matches with his specialty so it will be better if heâs your supervisor (and itâs only a bonus that the man is painfully hot so youâll never be bored)
your professor recommends you to seonghwa and he goes over your synopsis which leaves him intrigued because coincidentally, heâs researching in molecular neuroscience as well
he gladly takes you on because he believes you both will be helping each other along the way
plus, he recognises your name- youâve always had a different air about you (and he remembers you from somewhere else too)
heâs looking forward to working with you, thatâs all
so when you arrive on your first day as his supervisee and research assistant
you catch him in his natural habitat- unaware of his surroundings, humming a tune to himself and swiping his hair hurriedly to the side with the hand thatâs holding a clear solution of some sort while struggling not to drop his notes on the table that has a few microscope slidesÂ
basically, moments away from a disaster
he spots you and grunts as if asking for help and you immediately drop your bag to rush towards him, only now noticing that somehow, heâs holding his glasses by his teeth
you first take those out of his mouth and he groans in relief. âcan you please help me wear my glasses? those cultures are moments away from expiring.â
âoh goodness,â you mutter and you lock eyes with him as you put on his glasses for him
and your intrusive thoughts take over because you simply cannot take how his hair is poking his eyes so you gently brush his hair out of his eyes
for a moment, time is frozen for all sorts of reasons
before seonghwa takes a deep breath and you blink, immediately getting out of his way and holding his notes for him
the notes apparently hold the readings on how much solution he needs to pour so you read it for him and consequently save him from a disaster
as soon as he is done freezing the cultures, he holds the edge of the table to save himself from slumping in relief
and you share a laugh, the ice breaking just like that
he tells you that the student assigned for taking care of the cultures had an emergency and he had to rush from another department
and he thanks you for helping him
you both move to his office to go over your thesis and he helps you create a timeline
you wrap up the meeting with a clear direction of whatâs next and with a schedule of shifts where you will be assisting him
it doesnât take long to get used to being a part of his team of five calm students with a little streak of crazy
and you suppose dr. park has an eye for people like that because you fit right in
you are all very dedicated so he seems to be at ease when you are working, though he does monitor you more closely since youâre new
you start to spend more time in the lab simply because you like how it feels there
it is like a little cocoon where you can tune out the rest of the world and work on your thesis without distractions (plus, it helps how people from your team pop in once in a while to throw some suggestions at you)
you like how it is there- neat and clean
the sound of metal against metal, glass against glass. the smell of the cleaning agent which calms you since it is something familiar now
and then thereâs dr. park himself, gentle and composed, yet at times clumsy and rough which results in the room cackling with laughter
however, thereâs a side to him that you only see when youâre alone with him
youâre not sure if heâs like that with everyone- he must be, right?
does he pay as much attention to everyone else as you?
perhaps, youâre delusional. that must be it
seonghwa knows you must think that, because he has not been very obvious but he has not been subtle either
itâs just that he remembers you from that time. he remembers seeing your face in his friend wooyoungâs data
wooyoung, who is an expert at singling out people like them
people like seonghwa who have a little streak of crazy in them, yet manage to be a part of the society almost seamlessly
wooyoungâs company does a good job at managing these people because they ultimately help the black market grow
seonghwa is half convinced wooyoungâs company is just a faction of the government but of course he canât confirm that
all he knows is that he cannot act out too much and get caught
in return, he knows when someone like him is in his radar
here you are, glasses perched on the tip of your nose as you examine different slides under the microscope, muttering to yourself about the readings as your scribble them
he canât help but notice how you always wear that one specific shade of deep red on your lips or how your hair falls in the most irresistible way in front of your face
heâs never looked at a student this way- ever- but youâre not just a student now, are you?
so when he makes his move, approaching you from behind as silently as he can
heâs not disappointed when you turn- he didnât make a sound, yet you knew
youâre not even surprised, and that excites seonghwa to no end
âah, dr. park,â you go casually, as if him sneaking behind you was normal behaviour. âcan you approve of these hypotheses?â
seonghwa hums and stands awfully close to you, your sides brushing against each other
he purposely crowds in your personal space as he leans in to confirm the readings of the specimens on the table
âeverythingâs perfect,â he announces, meeting your eyes
youâre still sitting so you have to look up at him and lord. what a sight he is even from this angle. you could totally get used to it-
âwhat are you looking at, sweetheart?â seonghwa smirks knowinglyÂ
you have to physically struggle to maintain your composure because you are pretty sure you were gawking
ânothing, just zoned out,â you say, which isnât a lie but not the whole truth either
he knows though. he knows the effect he has on you because he hasnât been subtle
from the casual touches to the unnecessary (but not undeserved) praise
from the prolonged eye contact to the suggestive smirks
there is something electric between the two of you, an undeniable tension
and while youâre not one who sticks to the rules, you canât help but wonder just why is dr. park playing with you?
âyou sure youâre okay?â seonghwa leans in and searches your eyes for any signs of lies
upon finding none but gaining satisfaction from the way your lips part in surprise, he draws backÂ
you try your best not to make things awkward for the rest of the time youâre with him
and in the following days, his advances only start becoming stronger in nature
you like the attention he gives you. you like how he always puts his hands on your shoulders and gives them a little squeeze whenever he finds you sitting
you like the way his warm breath caresses your cheek when youâre both sitting side by side inspecting a specimen
you enjoy the sound of his gentle voice as he instructs you
itâs almost as if he knows. itâs almost as if heâs asking for it
does he not know that once you become obsessed with something, youâll try- no, you will possess it at all costs?
so one night when youâre both working at late hours, busy with wrapping up one section of your thesis
you canât take it when seonghwa scolds you teasingly for being clumsyÂ
âyouâve got pen on your chin,â he says and before you can take care of it, he himself scoots closer-
too close for it to be professional anymore because at this point, he can probably count the freckles on your face too-
and begins to rub at your the skin near your lips gently
he frowns when it doesnât come off, and then he has the audacity to lick his thumb and rub your skin again
âdr. park,â you mutter, about to remind him how you are supposed to be a teacher and student
youâre not friends (despite the very friendly relationship you have developed with him)
seonghwa only hums and you canât help but notice how he stifles a smirk as he moves his thumb to your lower lip and swipes it, all the while maintaining eye contact
you raise a brow in challenge, silently questioning why heâs still holding your chin
he leans in as if to kiss you and you stop breathing
except he tilts his head to whisper in your ear
âwould you like to attend the next soul society meeting with me, love?â
to say that you freeze is an understatement
you donât move when his lips caress your cheeks as he stays in that position
you donât move when he purposely trails his lips along your cheek as he draws back
âwhatâs your classification?â you manage to ask, your voice barely a whisper
the way seonghwa smirks is something youâll never forget
âjekyll,â he says. ânice to meet you, hyde.â
thereâs a moment of silence where all you can do is stare at the man in front of you
a moment of pure static
as soon as you take off your mask and your lips curl in a smirk, it happens
you donât know who took the first step but youâre both kissing each other
itâs rushed, passionate and desperate, the air filling with your grins and giggles and youâre only glad youâre not in the lab right now because the way seonghwa clears the table with a swipe of his hand, making the notes fall on the ground
only to lift you up and seat you there so he can kiss you better? being in the lab would have done some damage alright
between kisses, you learn how seonghwa recognised you
you ask him if he lured you here somehow, but he tells you itâs just luck that youâre here as his student right now. you donât quite believe him though
but you let it be- if heâs jekyll, that means heâs got the brains to scheme
he tells you that heâs glad to have found his hyde because he would prefer someone else to do his dirty work for him
you agree- itâs been far too long since youâve had an adventure, and youâve heard about the notorious jekyll in the soul society too. you just never connected the dots
he takes you to his private lab (not before feasting on you and fucking you on that very table)
for the next few weeks, you familiarise yourself with his actual research
mind altering chemicals and drugs, anything to do with control
very illegal stuff, but the soul society funds him with whatever he needs
he canât believe he found you- youâre perfect for him
seonghwa believes he has morals and he can be a good person
so you make the perfect partner because you can be the bad person in his stead
youâre his alter ego, the voice in his head that he never lets come out
youâre the person who not only matches his freak but helps bring it into manifestation. you are now his face
while he advances in molecular neuroscience in the world, you advance, on his behalf, in the underworld
thereâs no blood on your hands- you both only produce drugs. youâre not responsible for what is done with them
you do sometimes assist in the practical work, which seonghwa avoids, because after all, he has a reputation to maintain as dr. park
no one suspects a thing. youâre just supervisor and supervisee who share a similar obsession with research
nothing to worry about
Jekyll and Hyde
Yunho
The Hunter
when you finally got to a blind date that your friend begged you to go to, you didnât expect to meet a man who would actually catch your eye
there is something about this man, jeong yunho, that instantly pulls you in as if you really are tied by a threadÂ
for starters, he is incredibly handsome and has a soft vibe to him that exudes warmth
his voice has a soothing quality and his mannerisms are as gentle as his gaze. his laugh is pure and he makes quite a good company
he just makes you feel comfortable and safe right away, which is kind of surprising
so when yunho tells you about himself, confirming that he is indeed a corporate lawyer at a well-known firm, you are simply in awe
you thought your friend was bluffing when she told you that she is trying to set you up with a âbeauty with brainsâ
she was not lying, is all you can think now
youâre a simple school teacher, you tell yunho with a laugh
however, the manâs eyes are practically twinkling as he hears your stories about schoolÂ
youâre only telling him because he insisted, and now he canât stop appreciating your profession, saying that itâs admirable how you are able to connect with children and educate them
the conversation steers to your likes and dislikes, your preferences, and what youâre looking for in a partner
surprisingly, the two of you have a lot in common
you both have a special place in your heart for food. you both love travelling. and there are some things he does not need to say out loudÂ
like how heâs a caring person- always making sure youâre comfortable and your bowl is full, draping his coat over your shoulders when you leave the restaurant and scour the streets for something sweet
the hand that he offers you is not suggestive and you like that (you also like how tall he is and how his hand engulfs yours almost entirely)
just two people who talk about anything and everything- thatâs who you become by the end of the night
as you settle in bed later, youâre still smiling about how his eyes twinkled when he learned that you too have a thing for gaming too
you have good feelings about this person so far but thereâs a feeling scratching at your heart that has you restless
it is the way his eyes darkened almost dangerously, only momentarily, when you insisted that you could get home on your own
he was a gentleman, no doubt about it, insisting that you could never be too sure these days especially with the news being so horrible lately, the crime rate spiking up dramatically in the past few months
you just did not like the idea of having a stranger accompany you all the way to your home, even if it was this gentleman- this was only your first meeting
so he made you promise to call him and let him know when you get homeÂ
and here you are. you dated him for a few months before you both decided to move in together into an apartment that suited your needs
heâs perfect in every way- attentive, responsive, caring, funny, and he gives you space when you need it
which matters the most because you value your personal space a lot
he understands the importance of personal space very well and even though you share a room, you both let each other beÂ
you let him be when heâs gaming, and he lets you be when youâre staring at the ceiling or reading
more often though, heâll have you sit on his lap as he games
since heâs so much bigger than you, youâll curl on top of him to read or scroll and heâll be focused on his game, liking your presence
it doesnât always lead to something but when it does, itâs always fun
he has you smitten- his kisses still make you feel like itâs your first time sharing a kiss (and heâs damn good at it)
his touch lingers on your skin throughout the day and you cannot wait to be back in his arms again
it is just another night when you decide to walk and take the longer route back home because apparently yunho was going to be late and you did not want to be home alone
it gets quieter as you navigate through the streets and alleys
and when you take a turn and notice a familiar figure, you stop in your tracks
is that⌠not yunho? the back and the height looks pretty much the same
the man is watching a woman at the end of the street who is using her phone as if waiting for someone
the woman catches the man watching her and grows wary- you can tell even from the distance
you can tell that she is very much pretending to be on call when she starts moving
despite every cell in your body urging you to ignore this and go back home, you start to follow the man when he starts to follow the woman
you are careful to maintain a distance, cursing yourself internally for being a curious little shit who seeks thrill like thereâs no tomorrow
but the woman takes a left, and the man takes a right, leaving you standing in the middle of the street, taking a few deep breaths
nothing happened, you think. you turn and start to trace your path back
and just a minute later, thereâs an unmistakable sound of a womanâs scream filling the air
every hair on your body rises as your heart drops and eyes widen
youâre frozen in one spot with no idea what to do next- should you go check on the woman? see if it was the same person?Â
not once do you think of calling the police though
you walk back home, lost in your thoughts with the image of the manâs familiar figure branded in your mind especially since you are pretty damn sure that those were little sunflowers embroidered on the hem of the hoodie
sunflowers that you embroidered on yunhoâs hoodie
when you open the door to your apartment, though, you hear the sound of the TV and yunho is sitting very casually on the couch
âah, youâre home,â he grins and waves, just like he usually does
heâs not wearing the hoodie anymore
âi thought you were gonna be late?â you ask
âyouâre late,â he counters. âwhy did it take you so long to get home?â
âjust decided to take a walk,â you smile, ruffling his hair and planting a kiss on the top of his head before going to your roomÂ
you grab your clothes and move towards the bathroom to take a shower, and it is then that yunhoâs eyes widen
âah, babe?â he calls, his voice uncharacteristically high
when you donât answer, he rushes towards the bathroom and finds you standing in the doorway
your eyes are fixed on the sink which is a pale shade of pink with handprints on it
yunho curses himself internally- he rushed to hide his hoodie as soon as he got home, jumped in the shower, spotted the bloody sink from when he first washed his hands and decided to make it look like he had been home for a while before cleaning the sink
only he fucking forgot
it doesnât look as bad- itâs not a bloody red, for starters
âah, i forgot to clean that up,â yunho awkwardly laughs, proceeding to move inside and open the tap, taking a sponge and cleaning the edges of the sink
yeah. it does not look that bad
âi accidentally spilled that red ink you have in the room- i donât know why i got curious and messed with it.â
thatâs not the colour of your ink, though, and you know it never leaves stains like these
âdonât worry about it,â you tell him, but your eyes are wider than usual. yunho notices that
he lets you shower in peace, all the while thinking if you suspect something
truth be told, he saw you when you were following him back there which is why he took another turn to mislead you
he also knows you are far too observant for your own good
he canât lie- one of the reasons he fell for you is because of that. you are just like him
though you are free of sin unlike him, your mind is a mess
you notice too much that is not meant to be noticed. you sometimes say things that even he has not thought about. you question if human morals are an actual thing or a made up construct
is it from reading too much fiction? he thinks not
when you come out of the shower, something possesses you to move to the balcony
and thatâs another thing yunho likes about you (which also scares him a little at times)
it is your intuition- which leads you to inspect the little corner where you pile up useless stuff. you can see the sleeve of his hoodie there
you pick it up and find it wet in certain spots
on its black base, you canât tell what it is, but the sunflowers are stained a suspicious red colour, and itâs definitely not your inkÂ
you look towards your right where yunho is standing, vigilant
there is a moment of silence before you lower the hoodieÂ
âit really was you,â you say, unwavering
your heart is not speeding because youâre scared- it is speeding because you are right
yunho is still, contemplating how to deal with this
did he think he could hide his secret from you forever? no. was he prepared in case he gets caught? no
he just never imagined it would unfold like this
and now⌠will he have to hurt you if you threaten to expose him? he canât bear to hurt a hair on your head
you bring out all the good in him. he does not know how you do that, but you make him believe that he can love with all of his heart too, just like any other person
you make him feel whole, and it would be such a shame if things fall apart now
to his surprise, you drop the hoodie back and walk towards him until thereâs little distance between the two of you
you hold both of his hands in yours and look at him earnestly
âare you going to tell me what you have been up to?â
yunho is surprised at how calm your voice is and how accepting your eyes are
he sighs deeply before steering you to the couch in the living room
and then he bares his heart to you
he is a monster. that is it. he hurts people and it satisfies this ugly part of him
he does not always want to, he justifies, but sometimes, he just canât help it
and the only reason he gets away with it is because he is not stupid and carefully chooses his victims- people who are miserable. people who have no one around them
âwell then⌠iâm lucky to have one person in my life, right?â
yunhoâs eyes widens at your response
you fulfil the criteria of being his victim- you have no oneÂ
you have no one but him- how did that happen?
he thinks back to your first date and he canât help but feel overwhelmed
he buries his face in the crook of your neck, his head about to explodeÂ
why are you not running away from him? why are you caressing his head and holding him close?
you donât tell him everything right away. you only ask him to trust you
so he trusts you and waits for you
he learns little bits about you- you, who do not care who yunho is, as long as he is transparent with you
you, who has a twisted sense of morality. you, who might be as bad as yunho, even worse
though, your hands are clean, you tell him sarcastically, itâs just your head that is a mess
and itâs a blessing that you two are together and can be honest about this too, right? how lucky you are to have each other
âyou, without sin, are like the sun,â he tells you one night as he kisses the top of your head and holds you close
âyou, even with sin, are like the sun,â you respond.
The Hunter and His Guide
Yeosang
The Mad Scientist
there is something about the innocent features of his face, the gentleness in his mannerism, the absolute ethereal aura about him
that contrasts strikingly with the pitch black (or maybe, just two shades lighter) of his soul
the man only knows how to scheme and how to take the best possible route towards his goals
the goals are all related to science
sure, he is contributing to the scientific area, doing researches no one else would do
doctor kang yeosang- a scientist and philosopher, held in high reverence in the medical field, contributing with numerous researches centering the human body
nobody needs to know exactly how he gets such extensive, solid results to support his theories
he comes off as a soft-spoken man, someone who possesses a kind heart
he is willing to overwork himself in order to make life easier for others
he is much appreciated by his peers
they donât need to know that behind his neat and professional setup is a dark, cold space that holds his real workspace
the endless corridors lined with shelves upon shelves of jarsÂ
jars containing the human body parts within them
from the brain to the spleen, from the heart to the liver
each jar meticulously lined in an organisation such that only yeosang could close his eyes and know where to pick what he needs
each organ in the jar has a story of the human that it once was- the story that yeosang himself scribes and tucks in the safe (and in a corner of his heart)
taking it out only to read and reminiscence, or to make another addition
such as the one that he is about to make now, sauntering with an almost skipping manner, highlighting his delight in the events about to unfold
his pristine white lab coat flows behind him, a symbol of everything that he would not be doing tonight, which only adds to the irony of it all
he finds you mirroring his expressions, eyes wide with anticipation and lips curled in a stifled smile
and he canât help but smile wider, the sound of his footsteps echoing loudly as he speeds towards you so that he can finally hold you after the long day he had, tired of playing it cool in front of everyone
you are snaking your arms around his neck immediately as he bends down to capture your lips in a fierce kiss, earning a surprised but pleased yelp from you
you let him have his moment, kissing him back with equal passion until he draws away and rests his forehead against your shoulder
âlong day, huh?â you press your lips against his temple. âhow did the presentation go?â
the presentation being at a conference of the national medical association where yeosang was the chief guest, awarded for his valuable insights to the medical world
âi sometimes wonder if iâm the only one wearing a mask,â yeosang confesses.
you know what he means
there surely must be others just like him
you canât expect to make medical advancements while sticking to the stupid laws and regulations they have carved for you
the medical associations do not allow anyone freedomÂ
âitâs tiring to pretend my research was simply a result of my teamâs hard work,â yeosang continue, âthey didnât do batshit. i wish i could credit you instead.â
âbut you canât,â you caress his dark locks. âthat would certainly raise suspicion since iâm⌠underqualified.â
well, thatâs arguableÂ
you may not be as good as yeosang at what you do but considering that you come from a non-medical background, yeosang would say that you are pretty close
in fact, overqualified
âi donât think thereâs anyone more qualified than you,â yeosang lifts his head to look up at you, eyes scanning your face. âyouâre an expert of the human body.â
you are an expert, that is true
you did what you had to do to survive as a young girl who lost her way
you were meant to be a test subject yourself but you created your own path and proved that you were good with your hands- almost artistic
and that you could open up humans as long as you had a good knife
your skills were a bit rusty when yeosang found you in the black market
but he was thoroughly impressed and made an offer. it was an offer that you couldnât resistÂ
you would no longer be bound to be a slave for the rest of your life
you would be his equal. an accompliceÂ
âbut you are the mad scientist. iâm just your unofficial assistant,â you pat his cheek in answer
itâs a wonder that youâre here now, in his arms
a muffled sound interrupts your little moment
you both steer towards the big room and yeosang looks around for a moment to take in the glory of his workplace
the crisp white walls and clean tiles smelling of antiseptic, marred with red stains of blood that is dripping from the manâs limbs
the man who is currently tied to a stretcher in the middle of the room
the instruments and tools that he would be using tonight to open his test subject up are glinting with silver, ready to be used
he has chosen the perfect target- a relatively healthy, middle-aged homeless man
really, no one would care if he went missing
in fact, you were doing him a favour by putting an end to his miserable life, right?
surely, he did not wish to live without a home and the means to survive
though here he was, sedated but struggling nonetheless, as if finally having found the will to live
âah, he created a mess,â yeosang begins, clicking his tongue in disappointment as he inspects the bruises around the manâs wrists. âiâm sorry you had to wait so long, hmm?â
itâs almost eerie, how yeosangâs voice drips with pity
but thatâs what you like about him
he thinks of the greater good. he is doing all of this for the greater good
there is no personal desire to kill random human beings, no
he simply needs test subjects to study the human body, so there can be advancements in the medical world
he just canât believe that the world does not have a cure or even a prevention for most of the diseases in this age
he has taken it upon himself to contribute to the medical world so people do not have to suffer anymore
he complains about this a lotÂ
if people had guts, they would have done this ages ago
sometimes, he refers to the awful medical experiments done by humankind- especially on women
he is different from them, he claims
he cares about their pain- that is why he makes sure to make his subjectsâ death quick and painless before he starts to conduct his experiments
itâs just too bad that he doesnât have much time after the person passes to study certain functions of a living human
(so sometimes, he makes exceptions and asks god for forgiveness. easy peasy)
you watch yeosang with a sort of wonder and a little something that resembles fear as he caresses the manâs head in farewell
he asks the man to say his last words, to choose them carefully, to take his time and to make peace with the fact that there is no way out
the sedatives seem to have made the man somewhat placid
the test subject stops resisting to lock eyes with the doctorÂ
he says something about the regrets heâs had in his life and how he just wants his misery and pain to end now
yeosangâs brows are furrowed in concentration as he listens to each and every word, nodding along as if he aims to fulfil every desire this man possessesÂ
his hand is gently caressing the manâs head
when the man is done, yeosang tells him that his contribution to medical research wonât be forgotten
he looks at you to find you already staring at him with an unreadable expression
he signals you to get the job done and you inject the medicine meant to stop the manâs heart
you watch the man take his last breath, his face contorting in pain as his heart ceases to function
yeosang has already moved on from the little moment he had, putting on medical gloves and snapping them against his skin rather dramatically
âletâs get to work, shall we?â
you smile in response, following his instructions
soon, you are testing the functioning of the manâs abdominal organs with various equipment and drugs that yeosang has bought from the black marketÂ
you have to work quickly before necrosis begins and hinders you
yeosang is very careful with his methods. his hands are steady as if he has done this a thousand times alreadyÂ
and though he comes off as clumsy in the public eye, he is anything but here
his eyes are focused, darting between the electrodes placed on the manâs liver to the readings on the screen
it goes on like this for a while, yet another failed experiment as the liver fails to respond as desired to the electric shock and necrosis takes over
it doesnât disappoint any of you though
yeosang has a strong vision and no amount of failed experiments is going to stop himÂ
plus, thereâs always something you learn even from failure
you begin to clean up when you notice a broken nail lying on the stretcher
you pick it up with tweezers and inspect it- it must have broken when the man was struggling to break free
yeosang catches you looking at the discoloured nail with curiosity and he hums in question
âhair and fingernails are beautiful ornaments.â you ask, âso why do they seem so baleful when they are removed?Â
yeosang stands beside you, pondering
âthe answer is simple. they are previews of what is to come. of death.â
you look at him to find his eyes twinkling with the knowing glint of someone whoâs seen it all
after you both finish recording the data of tonightâs session, yeosang is back to being the cute and clumsy person that you absolutely adore
the man is craving chicken after todayâs hard work so you fulfil his wish and take him to his favourite place
you both sit across each other, drinking beer and savouring the juicy meat while talking about casual stuff- just an assistant and her boss
just two friends who met by chance and felt an instant pull towards each other
just two lovers, fated to be together and find solace in each otherâs company
as if the stars have aligned for you yet again, a familiar face walks in and sits on the table next to you
you meet yeosangâs eyes and you both stifle a smile
itâs one of the potential test subjects youâve had in your file, due for observation
and what better observation than to sit next to them in a casual setting and eavesdrop naturally?
yeosang raises his beer glass in toast and you share a knowing smile, raising your own glass in toastÂ
just two partners in crime. thatâs who you are
The Mad Scientist and his Accomplice
San
Executioner
choi san works hard during the day
he goes to the school and makes sure his students are in top shape
as their p.e. teacher and coach, he has every studentâs physical status on his fingertips
he knows their strengths and their weaknesses. he also knows their desires
so if a student is not a good runner but wants to run better, he would never tell them to give up, he would personally coach them and make sure they know that their body is not the limit
they can be a good runner, a good player, a good swimmer- anything
as long as they are steadfast, they can conquer the world
so choi san is loved and respected by the students, known to be a very caring teacher
but choi san works harder at night. no one needs to know that
certainly not his colleagues who always go about how hardworking a teacher he is
when he is free from the school, he goes to his home and changes before driving to his friendâs place- a warehouse where a few of you hang out
someone programmes, another composes, another works out
just an innocent hideout that youâre all using even in your early thirties
except that you also huddle around to read the new request you receive on your app
âi am a twenty-one year old female. two years ago, the man who dated my older sister killed her, but due to lack of evidence, he did not receive the jail time he deserves. he claims that he is innocent, but ever since he got out, heâs been bothering me because he had to serve his short sentence anyway. he is threatening to kill my family and then me if i go to the cops. i am scared to leave the house because he is stalking me and i can always see him wherever i go. please help me. i wonât go to the cops anyway- they didnât do anything then, and they will not do anything now.â
san is contemplating if he should accept this request
you look at wooyoung who is immediately weighing the pros and the cons
you look back at san who is still deep in thought and you gently rest your hand on his thigh, bringing him out of his head
âiâll take it,â he mutters. âaccept the request, y/n.â
you nod and go back to the computer to accept the request
you have a phone call conversation with the client where you set up a meeting
itâs you and wooyoung who go to meet with the respective parties. san works in the shadows
the next night, san finds you deep in thought outside, leaning against the worn out wall of the warehouse
he joins you, hands in the pockets of his baggy jeans
âi know what youâre thinking,â san begins, glancing at you. âyouâve been awfully quiet since the meeting.â
you shrug in defeat. âi know i canât change your mind.â
âitâs not going to be the same,â san refers back to the one time you all took a request from a 19 year old girl who was being bullied by her seniors
it got to a dangerous point and had you been a little late, you might have lost the girl
san lost his temper that time, though
and while he couldnât physically harm the kids who were bullying the girl, he had them locked in a room for one night while he educated them
and funnily enough, san was scarier that night
scarier than every other time he actually wields a weapon
you asked him that night if there were any just people left in this world full of evil
âall people are evil. to believe that you are just, you must believe that someone else is more evil than youâ
was his response. safe to say, the girl was living her best life now, but you saw a new side of san that night
a side you had never seen all your life, and that was saying something since you were childhood friends
âwe wonât let it get to that point,â san assured, outstretching your hand and you pouted before taking it
he caressed your knuckles, his voice assertive. âi will take care of it. properly. i always do.â
âdo you think i only worry about things going wrong?â you finally say out loud, the words that you want to say to him every time he goes out in the fieldÂ
san, despite himself, breaks into a smile that would seem so out of character to anyone who has not known him for long
âyou canât smile your way out of this,â you sulk further, snatching your hand away and folding your arms
âbaby,â san begins, trying to take your hand again but youâre not having any of it
âiâm worried youâll get hurt. iâm worried about the pain youâre willing to go through so you can lessen the pain of others.â
san stops teasing then, mimicking your position as he leans against the wall next to you
there is a thick silence surrounding you and you wonder what wooyoung is doing inside- is he napping?
âitâs something i have to do. something only i can do. you know that, right?â
âi know,â you say, almost a whisper. âand thatâs what makes this more frustrating.â
because it was originally your idea
on a summer night when you were all about to graduate, a tragedy happened in your town
a man went on a spree, killing and wounding multiple women and children for weeks
you, who knew one of the victims personally, were shocked by the act and disgusted at how lazy the police were being
it turned out that the assailant was a high-profile businessman and the police were trying to cover the case up as per the orders of their superiors
the three of you were hanging out in the warehouse, each burdened by their own train of thoughts, until you finally said it out loud
âwhat if we were some sort of a private service where we help the victims? especially when the police canât?â
it was wooyoung who agreed first, and san who disagreed
it took him some convincing to finally agree, and you set rules
you were not going to kill anyone- only maim
if itâs a serial killer, you maim their hands so they can never hold a weapon again
if itâs a bully, you maim their mouth so they think before they speak
the three of you are a team, but san is the executioner
wooyoung is his eyes and feet, and you are the brains
so it is ironic how worried you are about san now, when you gave him this role
âi know that i can get hurt,â san begins, taking a deep breath. âbut there is no pain as long as i keep my eyes on the balance scale.â
this time, when he outstretches his hand, you take it. he plants a sweet kiss on your knuckles
âdonât worry about me, hmm?â he tugs you closer so you can rest your head against his firm chest as he embraces you. âi canât focus when youâre so worried.â
âi canât help it,â you tell him. âyouâll just have to get used to it.â
san lifts your face with his thumb below your chin, his brows furrowed with concentration and worry as he looks at you
his eyes are sharp as he scans you so you smile
immediately, his body relaxes and the corners of his lips curl in a smile as he pecks your lips- once, twice
and it is about to turn into a deeper kiss when wooyoung claps loudly to get your attention
âalright, lovebirds. get inside. we have a heads-up.â
you scowl at wooyoung who smirks in response but you both immediately join the youngest inside
your client has texted to let you know that sheâs about to go out so you can stalk her stalker
you and wooyoung take your equipment to the van and san prepares himselfÂ
heâll be observing tonight, but he is prepared in case the stalker catches on
just like that, you observe the stalker for a few days, assuring your client that she is safe
you plan a trap to lure the stalker to an abandoned area where san will have a little chat with the stalkerÂ
and when the day comes, all your client has to do is threaten to call the cops on him
he comes after her and that is when san knocks him out with a punch
the stalker finds himself tied to a chair in an empty room when he opens his eyes
there is the stale smell of something resembling death in the room, and that makes the man resistÂ
from the darkness, san emerges, clad in all black, his face covered with a mask
and his favourite weapon, the dagger, in his hand
you and wooyoung are watching from the camera embedded on his coat
you can see the glint of the dagger as he twists it dramatically in his hand
san circles around the man once as if to gauge the roomÂ
even through the camera, you can tell how thick the air must be feeling
san meets eyes with the man and removes the tape over his mouth, wincing when the man screams his lungs out in hopes that help would come
there is no help, not for miles
âwho are you?â the stalker spits on the ground near sanâs feetÂ
san only shuts his eyes in mild annoyance. he is not easily riled up
âyou have been found guilty of the crime of stalking. tell me⌠what should be your sentence?â
the man pales, fresh beads of sweat trickling down his foreheadÂ
âit will be better if you admit to your wrongdoings and give me a fair number. you donât want to leave it in my hands.â
âwhat do you mean sentence?â the stalker starts struggling fiercely, almost falling off the chair. âi have already served!â
san grins under the mask, closing in like a cat and stomping on his foot, making the man let out a guttural groan of pain
he leans in to whisper in his ear
âbut⌠that was for murder. and unfortunately, i am not charging you for murder tonight. otherwise⌠you would not have walked out alive.â
the man gulps loudly, meeting eyes with who has to be the person he has heard so much about in prison
most of the people in prison feared this man- the judge, they called him
the man was the judge, jury and executioner for criminals, feared more than the cops or actual prosecutors
âsurely⌠youâre not him, are you?â
you wince at the fear in the stalkerâs voice and meet wooyoungâs eyes
san never confirms if he is that. he simply finishes the job right there
the stalkerâs screams are heard for quite a distance, even outside your earpieces
you shut your eyes momentarily and when you open, you can see the blood oozing out of the manâs left leg
san is wiping the dagger with the manâs own jacket as he tells him that he will never be able to stalk people again
the man screams and screams, waiting for something more, but nothing else comes
sanâs job is done
he tosses a broken piece of glass near the chair for the man to free himself if he wishes to
when san comes back to the van, the air is sombre, just like after every finished request
wooyoung pats his shoulder in acknowledgement and mutters a joke in an attempt to lighten the mood, which works
âthey still call you the judge, huh?â wooyoung teases as he drives
âjudge, jury, executioner. how scary, choi san.â
san raises a brow at your comment- he can tell what youâre referring to
youâre referring to the first time when he came back covered in blood
and the first time he realised that no matter what he did, you would never be scared of him
and that you and wooyoung would always have his back and guide him
âi think iâm only the executioner. you both are the judge and jury.â
âmakes sense,â wooyoung agrees. âbut the world does not need to know that.â
Judge, Jury and Executioner
Mingi
The Overseer
âthe future, pitch black, upside downâ
mingi dips his brush into the onyx ink, finishing writing the words on the big canvas
the canvas that is a splash of colours- red for the blood on his hands. white for the innocence he lost too soon. blue for all those nights he spent trapped with only the moon as his friend
and finally, black for the future. the future is the only uncertainty in his life
despite being a leader of a notorious gang, he can never be certain about his future. there are always people after his life
he cannot trust anyone- not one soul-
âsir,â a voice interrupts and he knows who it is instantly
even if he did not hear your voice, he knows you are the only person who would dare interrupt him in the middle of his private time-
âtea, sir. youâve been cooped up in here for too long,â you say, placing the mug on the table
-for something as meagre as tea
mingi spares a glance in your direction, noticing how you are still dressed in your usual all-black fit
which means you have not gone to sleep yet, even though itâs well past midnight
âand what are you doing up so late?â he asks as he picks up the cup and sips it, finding it exactly to his liking. a flavour only you can nail
âwatching you paint,â you confess without hesitation
because in this place, in this room, between the two of you, there may be truths hidden, but there are no secrets
mingi is amused to hear that though he does his best to hide it
âand what do you think of the painting?â he asks, allowing you to take a closer look
you smile at his permission to inspect his art and you inch closer to the painting, now standing beside your boss
you read the words on it in a whisper and cock your head in thought
âisnât this too dark, even for you?â you questionÂ
mingi shakes his head in amusement and looks down. only you could have made this observation, having been at his side for a solid seven years now
where others would say that his paintings were too âcolourfulâ considering the kind of person he is, you still find them too dark and void of life
youâd know better, because you know mingi inside out
he first found you when he was a street thug in the process of becoming something big
all he had was his raw strength, a strategic brain, a few rusty weapons and some loyal friends
he went on to fight gang after gang, always emerging victorious and merging the losing team with a good deal- itâs how he earned respect around and gained a reputation
every other gang knew not to stand against him unless they wanted to risk losing everything they had
when he first opened his office in the darkest part of the town, he found you purely by chance
you were nearing the end of your teens- a rebellious little girl who cut ties from her family and ran away from home
at that time, you had multiple part-time jobs trying to make ends meet, hoping to find a place to live
and one fateful night, you found yourself in front of a building to deliver chicken, peering up at the light coming from the 4th floor- this must be itÂ
although⌠you werenât sure if the loud sounds coming from the floor were just men having a good time or if something had gone really, really wrong
men will be men, you thought, wanting to get the delivery done with so you could move on
only when you reached the 4th floor, you spotted men lying on the ground and clutching their limbs, blood all around
while every sane part of your brain screamed at you to pretend you saw nothing and go back, you recalled how when you received the order, they promised a big tip to the rider
you could not miss that, could you? you had to find a place to live, and you needed every penny
so you started with the men who seemed to be unconscious. you took any cash they had, being careful to hide your face in the hoodie
you moved to the office, hearing a crashing sound and flinching
you made quick work of grabbing more cash from the thugs- they had to be thugs
they all had guns, for fuckâs sake
you went into one of the neater rooms and placed the bags of fried chicken there
and you froze when a burly man made his way inside, wiping blood from the edge of his mouth
âah⌠you must be songâs girl, eh?â he snickered, scanning you up and down
âi- iâm delivering chicken,â you pointed at the table. âiâll be on my way then-â
ânot so quick,â his gaze darkenedÂ
instinctively, you grabbed the nearest object, which so happened to be a mug and chucked it at the man, successfully hitting his head
he clutched his head in pain and you made a dash outside, bumping into another man
the tall man seemed mostly unscathed save for a bruise on his cheek
he held your wrists to steady you and his eyes darted in the manâs direction who was clutching his head no more
âoi, song!â the burly man called. âteach your girl some manners, will you?â
the man called song pushed you to the side and a gunfight ensued
you took shelter behind a shelf, observing how the taller man successfully shot his every target
when he thought he was done- and was out of bullets, he looked in your direction and tsked loudly
you were about to come out of the shadows when you noticed one of the supposedly unconscious men take aim of songâs head
your eyes widened and almost instinctively, you grabbed a heavy metal object from the shelf and rushed to the man who was targeting your saviour
to say that mingi was surprised to see a young girl save him from his enemy by nearly crushing the manâs skull?
he knew you were something special right away
you both stared at each other for a long time before he told you to go back to his office, lock the door and not come out until he comes back
he was done sooner than you thought, and while his men cleaned his mess, he found you in his room, sitting rather calmly
âso youâre the delivery girl,â he narrowed his eyes
âi hope the chicken is still warm,â you responded. âif you can just pay me so i can leave-â
âwhy did you do that earlier?â he asked, voice low and rough that sent shivers up your spine
âi donât know,â you answered truthfully
mingi paid you more than extra that night and told you to come next time they place an orderÂ
the next time would turn out to be the last time you would ever work a part-time job
mingi offered you a place in his gang, and you took it
you are still not sure what your position in this gang is though- they smuggle drugs but keep you away from the work, so what are you doing here?
personal assistant? chef? manager? all of these?Â
sometimes, you are accompanying wooyoung in the field- the gang now has an official base and a few legal businesses
sometimes, you stay in the kitchen with seonghwa and wooyoung to cook
other times, you sit with yunho and hongjoong to plan and offer your opinion on their strategic takes
you arenât sure if you are qualified for that- you probably arenât
somehow, though, the gang members respect you for whoever you are
you are the light in their dark life, they joke. you are someoneâs friend now, sibling to some, secretkeeper for others
but you still arenât sure what you are to mingi
whenever you ask him why he took you in, mingi always responds with something different
âyou were clever grabbing all that money from our enemiesâ
âyou saved me- though i must say i could have handled itâ
âyou looked like a lost catâ
âyou didnât report usâ- excuses, all of them
truth be told, mingi has no idea what you are to him either
he has a certain fondness for you that he has for no one else. of course, it didnât happen instantly
he took you in because he realised you had a strategic mind and he could really use that
he insisted the office needed a âfeminine touchâ even though it came in the form of a cranky teen who wouldnât stop asking questions
but somehow, the two of you formed an unbreakable bond
he finds solace just being with you in one room, even in complete silence
he loves to hear you talk, even though you mostly question his morals
because he is not a good person, you found out
song mingi is not conventionally good. he is a man of principles, but he does not have the best morals
despite all that, you learned a lot from him. the world is a harsh place, and only he can protect youÂ
he learned a lot from you too. the world is a harsh place, and only you are his safe space
when at times things get stressful, he comes to seek you. he finds you in the shared residence and sits with you
if he is feeling down, you will have him lay his head in your lap. you will caress his head and let him be
if he wants to talk, he will. otherwise, he will watch you for a long time until he falls asleep, unguarded
when he gets tired, he will seek your arms. all he has to do is show up and you will know what to do
you will drop whatever you are doing and spread your arms
it is his home at this point. thatâs how things are like
are you in a relationship? you donât know
all you know is that song mingi is the most important person in your life
it doesnât matter if he lives life the way he does
it doesnât affect you anymore- the blood on his hands or the chaos in his mind
it doesnât bother you because you know his heart, and that is all that matters
so standing in his private space right next to him, inspecting his painting with a critical eye, you tell him that the painting is not him
he tells you to pick a colour and you reach out for a box, making him chuckle
âreally?â he asks
âthe future may seem black, butâŚâ you begin. âit doesnât feel so dark when iâm with you.â
mingi takes a deep breath at your words. you always get him like this, and he is not sure if he can restrain himself anymore
your heart aches when you see him curl his fists, a sign that he is holding back some words or an action
âtell me what youâre thinking,â you request, though it registers like a command in the gang leaderâs brain
âiâm thinking that i never should have given you this life.â
you shake your head at that- how many times has he voiced out that he wished you had lived a better, normal life, away from the clutches of the underworld?
âno, youâre thinking something else too,â you comment
âiâm thinking that i want you to stay here, with me, forever,â he responds
you nod in approval. âiâm right here. iâm not going anywhere.â
âyou could get hurt,â mingi says, taking a step closer and closing the gap between your bodies
âi am a big girl now, mingi,â you laugh, wrapping your arms around his waist and hearing his erratic heartbeat
his arms are still by his sides for a moment before he embraces you
âiâm old now, in fact. how much longer will you keep me waiting?â
mingi grows stiff at your question. so you know
of course you do
mingi cups your face and locks eyes with you
âi wonât break,â you promise
âi know,â he smiles, pecking your forehead. âiâm afraid you will break me.â
your lips curl in a smile and he rests his forehead against yours
âare you sure about your choice?â
âyes,â you breathe. âi want you. iâm yours.â
mingi draws back
âi meant your choice of colour,â he tilts his head in the direction of the painting and the box of paint you picked for him
âof course you did,â you laugh at his attempt to distract you
mingi leans in to close the distance between your lips
it is soft and unrushed. you both have waited for the right moment, the right time for years and everything feels absolutely right at this momentÂ
you go first, asking him to join you in your bedroom and he agrees
he assesses the canvas once again
as a finishing touch, he sprays a final splash of yellow- the colour you picked for him
yellow for hope, for all the light in his dark world
The Overseer and his Shelter
Wooyoung
The Maniac
it has always been a cat and mouse game with you and wooyoung
you chase after each other, running in circles with no start or end
itâs almost as if you both have sworn to keep your eyes glued on each other, watching every move, anticipating what is next
someoneâs lips curls up in a failed attempt to restrain a smile- a smile that drips with mischief and mockery
someone elseâs eyes glint with threat and promise that this is not over, their fists curled in anger
you chase after each other like cat and mouse
onlyâŚyouâre not sure who is the cat and who is the mouse
sometimes, it is you chasing after wooyoung
jung wooyoung, the son of one of the richest businessmen in town
a privileged piece of shit who is not right in the mind
a crazy bastard who has made it his lifeâs mission to not only drive you to the edge of the cliff but to push you and laugh in victory as you fall
he takes advantage of you being a criminal investigatorÂ
some people jest that they canât tell if wooyoung means to ruin your career or lead you to your promotion
with the amount of times wooyoung has gotten himself in trouble (and gotten away with it) he keeps your desk full of cases that you spend most nights investigating
while he keeps your hands full, what frustrates you to no end is that he almost always gets away with his crimes only because of his social standing and his connections
he gets away with petty crimes. he gets away with bloody fights that could very well have him spend one night in the station, cuffedÂ
he gets away with major crimes such as money laundering and tax evasion
no matter how much you try to investigate, you cannot
there are the warnings of your superiors who threaten to fire you because this is not your worry
and even if you do start to investigate, wooyoungâs team is quick to wipe any evidence of said crimes
youâre pretty sure that at this point, he might be hiding a body somewhere in his house
you wouldnât be surprised. man once set his enemyâs mansion on fire
to make things worse, he got away with it- even when he was the only one grinning and playing with a lighter on his way outÂ
while the others scrambled like mice, he sauntered in style
he gets away with anything
you reputation at the station is already in shambles because of it
they call you his shadow at this point, considering how you are always following him
the truth is, you just want to wipe the shitty grin off his face for once
you want him to suffer defeat when you finally put him behind bars
you want him to chase after you like you chase after him
you might come off as delusional, but youâre half convinced that whatever wooyoung does is on purpose at this point- to get your attention
it wasnât always like this, you and wooyoung
it started with a simple fight that broke out at a party where all the high-profile people were
someone was stupid enough to call the police- but you were more stupid because you went ahead and handcuffed wooyoung
you told him that you couldnât waste this opportunity because you were investigating another case related to his fatherâs company anyway
and he? he laughed out loud like a maniac
you soon learned why, going home with the sound of your superiors scolding you still ringing in your ears
here you are, a few years and a lot of chasing each other later
except⌠you get something out of the chasing now
all he has to do is corner you. all he has to do is rile you up as he tells you why you lost this game yet again
with his burning gaze and honey voice, he pins you to the spot
with his fingers tracing the curves of your face, he tells you how much he loves you chasing after himÂ
as if heâs all that you ever think about. he might be right
âdonât you think weâre meant for each other?â wooyoung questions almost innocently, licking his lips subconsciously as he trails his finger down the curve of your neck until he reaches the first button of your shirt
âdonât think too highly of yourself, wooyoung,â you respond, your chest rising and falling in controlled breaths
you can not let him know the effect he has on you
however, wooyoung doesnât need any sort of confirmation
you can try to keep your gaze steel all you want. you can attempt to sound sure and fake indifference, but the fact is that wooyoung knows
all he has to do is take another step forward and fill the gap between you two
his warm breath caresses your face and you gulp despite yourself
he watches you intently and squeezes your neck just a bit, causing you to part your lips for air and then he brushes the tip of his nose against yours
his other hand is slowly but surely unbuckling the belt of your pants and taking it off
you can only thank god in an ashamed relief that youâre in a private space- the space being one of the empty rooms in a random building on a random street because you had been tailing wooyoung
(at least the door is locked)
wooyoung brushes his lips against yours as your pants fall on the ground and pool on your feet
the sound that makes has heat rushing to your face- this should not be happening
you are a fucking detective and wooyoung is your target
but you canât complain when his fingertips dance along your hip bones
all he has to do is swipe his fingers up your panties
upon finding them soaked (as usual), he smirks and you smack his chest
he catches your fist in his hand, though
âall for me?â he asks
in a matter of seconds, your lips are upon each other, tongues in each otherâs mouth as you wrap your legs around him
he picks you up effortlessly and places you on a very dusty table
he gets rid of his clothes all the while kissing you expertly, aiming to please you, dominate you
he sucks on your lips, your neck, anywhere he can get his mouth on
and when he finally takes off all your garments, he has more places he can get his mouth on
âadmit it, detective,â he breathes against your clit. âyouâre obsessed with me.â
âget to work before i cuff you and fuck your brains out, wooyoung.â
wooyoungâs laugh echoes in the room as he recalls that night- a night he is sure he can never forget
âdoes that mean i get to experience that again if i stop now?â
you are moments away from your high- how dare he ask if he can stop?
he gets the hint and gets to work, and he makes sure he does a good job, licking and sucking at your clit until youâre screaming
for bonus points, he dives his cock inside right after and stays still as he starts to kiss you eagerly
this time, youâre the one who loses to him and lets him take control
you let him thrust into you. you let him praise you and humiliate you to no end
truth be told, youâre addicted to him. there is no going back from here
wooyoung knows how to use his tongue and he whispers sweet nothings
he is also surprisingly good at aftercare, even though you donât accept it from him
well, you try not to, but he is insistent
he takes you home and he invites himself in
you go to the shower and he goes to your room to admire the effort you put into bringing him down
loads of files and a board full of his âaccomplishmentsâ staring back at him- nothing he doesnât know
âyou think your daddy will help you if i start to investigate the slush fund you have?â
âwhich one?â is his response, and he grins widely as you gape at him
he can practically see the gears in your head turning and he adores that
it is a cat and mouse game after all. he must give you something so you keep coming after him
(and you must give him something so he keeps finding you too)
while youâre still processing what he just implied, your phone rings
you flinch when you pick it up, getting an earful from your team leader once again, because where were you?
you were supposed to tail wooyoung to confirm that he is meeting up with a notorious gang member who does his dirty work
the case youâre team is on these days is targeting the gang, and yet again⌠wooyoung is involved
so what the hell were you doing, your superior asks
âjung wooyoung did not meet up with the gang leader,â you say into the phone, your eyes fixed on wooyoungÂ
wooyoung has a shit-eating grin plastered on his face
âand how do you know that? i thought you lost the tail-â
âyes, i did lose the tail,â you bite your lips in thought- you canât tell your team leader that wooyoung has a strong alibi this time-
but wooyoung goes ahead and snatches your phone from you
âdetective lee,â wooyoung greets and you mutter a string of curses under your breath
you watch wooyoung charm his way through the matter
telling the detective that he was in a tight spot because of the gang they are investigating
and how it is a shame that a âcivilisedâ person such as himself is being linked to thugs
he tells him that he almost got attacked but you saved him, and you hid him in an abandoned building, being wise enough not to blow your coverÂ
you canât tell how he does it, but by the end of the call, your team leader is fully convinced that you did a good job today and he even praises you when you take the phone back
when you end the call, you glare at wooyoung
âwhat?â he shrugs. âi needed an alibi.â
âis that why you took me to the building to fuck me? because you needed an alibi?â
wooyoung watches you with mild curiosity
âdid you think it meant something else?â he asks
it would have hurt if he really meant it, but thatâs the thing
you both know he doesnât mean what he says, especially about whatever is going on between you two
he has risked his position and even his life far too many times just to get you alone and fuck you
so you only smile and shake your head in response before telling him to fuck off and get out of your sight
(and he does. not before a second round)
when he leaves, you watch his car disappear from the window before going to the board and updating everything you got out of him tonight
everything about his business and his crimes. everything to make your case on him stronger
itâs truly a wonder how much you can get out of fucking someone right and youâre positive you can see the end of this case now
though⌠youâre not sure if you will ever take this to court. but thatâs something youâll worry about later
for now, you will follow him like a cat follows a mouse
and he will chase after you like a cat chases after a mouse
The Maniac and his Shadow
Jongho
The Tyrant
it is always a little too cold in the building for your liking
the building that is choi enterprises, located at the heart of the city, standing tall with numerous floors, laden in luxury
it is a workplace and home to some of the people in this city and a symbol of something untouchable to the others
as you enter the building, accompanied by your secretaries and a guard, you instantly feel the temperature drop despite the warm tones of the interior
the employees that greet you may have smiles on their faces but itâs all an act. you can tell, because you know what a genuine smile looks like
choi enterprises somehow always manages to keep the most calculating people to themselves. it might be why the company has flourished so much in such a short period of time
âto the private elevators, miss,â a man says and you recognise him as one of the ceoâs personal staff
you follow him and tug your jacket closer, wishing you had worn it instead of draping it over your shoulders
you catch your reflection on the golden glossy door of the elevator and straighten, lifting your chin up
you will not be pushed into submission, you repeat for the umpteenth time
however, things are not in your favour this time
in this never ending game of business rivalry, you and choi jongho have never seen eye to eye. you always stand in opposition, defensive or offensive
sometimes, you manage to outsmart him while making a new business deal or scoring a new project. other times, he is a few steps ahead and wins the game
except when you lose, somehow, the loss is much greater and a bit personal
your company always suffers more when you lose, which is why this little meeting you are going to have with jongho is no less than a negotiation- a war, if you must
sometimes, you wonder if jongho has a personal grudge against you. these meaningless battles start to seem like an excuse to see you
if not, then why is jongho looking like he just won the lottery at the sight of you?
âas beautiful as ever,â he says, scanning your figure slowly
you donât move an inch, pretending those words donât affect you
the secretaries move to another room, leaving you and jongho alone
jongho gets up from his chair and moves to the middle of the room, motioning you to take a seat
you watch as he pours a drink for you, his muscles flexing through the coat heâs wearingÂ
you take the drink- you need something to calm your nerves
âi suppose the odds are not in your favour, considering you found your way back hereâ
an allusion to the time he said that you were meant to find your way back here again and again, that you were just a lost kitten and he was your master, controlling you
at that time, you thought he meant to spite you, but time after time, he proved himself right
you always find your way here, always as the opposition. this time, though⌠you wonât bend
âif the odds are in your favour,â you begin experimentally, downing the drink in one gulp and then pouring one for jongho. âwould you like me to join hands with you?â
now this is new- jonghoâs eyes slightly widen at your remark
âah⌠how the tables have turned,â jongho started to chuckle lowly
you let him be for a moment, scoffing internally
jongho had earned the right title over the years since he stepped up as ceo of his fatherâs company
a monster of capitalism
known to be the owner of many questionable businesses, borderline illegal, evading taxes and having slush funds unashamedly, heavily involved in money laundering- the list goes on and on
a true financial villain- a true monster, yet⌠being able to get away with everything, unscathed. thatâs who jongho is
he has bribed every soul who would dare go against him. and those who do not take the bribe? he makes sure they kneel
and you⌠youâre pretty close to being his next target- he did say you would look pretty on your knees for him
âis business not going well?â he asks, faking innocence. he knows
you are a rival company- seo enterprises. everything that jonghoâs company is, but⌠more legal
your forefathers were once partners, and they created their independent companies without a hint of rivalry
they were the definition of true brothers (and partners in crime)
the difference between the values of your company came when you and jongho stepped up as ceo
you had made it your lifeâs mission for your company to earn a good reputation and moral image, while jongho seemed to have made it his lifeâs mission to simply conquer the world, no matter what or who the stepping stone is
âbusiness is well,â you narrow your eyes at him. âitâs about the land in ilsan.â
jongho doesnât seem surprised to hear that. it is always like this- he knows what moves you will make
âah, the one where we are about to construct a gallery?â jongho asks
âwe?â you repeat. âthat land is a shared property. why have you not consulted us before going ahead and signing the documents? how could you begin this project without us-â
âthe other option is selling it to the government because of the redevelopment project,â jongho leans forward, âand you know how much i despise the government getting their grubby hands on whatâs mineâ
you know he is right, and he knows that you are not here to argue about why he started this project without telling you
jongho relaxes back, considering all his options before deciding to strike. âyouâre worried about your involvement in that project, is that right?â
âwell,â you mirror his position, âi would like to keep my reputation clean unlike yours.â
he chuckles at that, proud of his deeds. âyeah, well, thatâs going to be hard, sweetheart. that gallery is going to be an optimum location for storing money.â
you know what he means. the gallery is going to display priceless pieces of arts. those pieces are but a means of illegal transactions for the elites
you swallow your anger, taking a deep breath. âiâd like to have my shares back, then. before construction starts.â
âuhâŚâ jongho gets up, fixing his clothes. âyouâre going to have to convince me for that.â
âplease,â you scoff, but he only shakes his head, ignoring that because he knows this âpleaseâ was wholly sarcastic
âtry harder,â he smiles mockingly before turning his back to you and moving to the window, putting his hands in the pockets of his pants and staring down at the city
a tyrant- thatâs who he is
he expects to get the maximum output out of anything he set his eyes on, no matter the cost- money or lives
you join him by the window, pointing at a few spots. âthatâs where people held protests against your company last week,â you tell him. âapparently, you have been exploiting labourers too.â
âthatâs what they think,â he spits. âi gave them more than they deserve. they just never learn to accept. they never get pleased.â
you look at jongho- he sounds like he is saying the truth. he has the art of sounding like a victim at times, thus justifying his actions
âdoesnât all that venom in your heart make you dizzy?â
jongho glances at you, his lips threatening to curl into a smile at your words
âdoesnât it get tiring, pretending to be moral?â jongho asks, trying to read your guarded eyesÂ
âthereâs no pretending. i never claimed that i was full of morals, mr. choi,â you sigh. âi just wish for my business to have a legal foundation.â
âand it will, you donât have to worry,â he responds, curling a section of your hair that had been resting on your shoulder in his fingers
you donât flinch at his touch. youâve known him since the beginning, and nothing he does fazes you anymore- except when he leans closer experimentally, locking eyes with you and trying to read you
âyou will get your shares, but you will have to convince me,â he says, voice barely above a whisper
it is a challenge. it is always a challenge with choi jongho
âwhy are you so obsessed with me?â you laugh this time, swatting his hand away
he joins, and everything almost seems normal for a moment- just two friends with too many inside jokes, except⌠it only lasts for a moment
âhow can i convince you?â you ask, sombre
âyou know what i want from you, y/n,â he replies in a similar tone
he wants a true partnership, except his idea of a partnership is where you bend to his will (and so is yours)
âdonât turn this into a legal battle, jongho,â you warn, âi would hate to summon you to court.â
âdonât turn this into a petty rivalry,â he counters, âyou will benefit from this project. you reputation wonât be harmed.â
âi donât want my name next to yours,â you tell him in all honesty and you think you see hurt flash in his eyes
âthat is not possible,â jongho declares. âour companies are not mentioned without each other. we are fated like that, you and i.â
that is true. no one dares to touch the two of you, so you two have always been alone
there is no one you both can trust. there is no one next to youÂ
except the two of you are always together, wherever you go, be it business parties, political dinners, or high-profile events
you can only trust each other, because despite knowing everything about each otherâs business, despite being at war with each other
you are always honest with each other- honest about your intentions and purpose
there is no one next to you because you two are always together, leaving no space for someone else
do you hate that? not really. does he hate that? heâs not sure
âyou can buy my shares from me,â you start, âor you can shift them elsewhere. i can handle whatever loss comes with that.â
âor⌠you can let it be and use the revenue for something âmoralâ,â he taunts and silence envelopes the room
âno matter how much you try to maintain a clean image,â he starts, gentler this time, âyou cannot undo the damage your forefathers have done to your company, y/n. seo enterprises will always be known as the company that exploited the weak to get to the top.â
you donât wince at that, though your heart aches to hear that
âjust like your company. except you are continuing in their footsteps,â you say
jongho nods, watching how your shoulders are curling inwards
âyou are not weak, y/n, stand straight,â he almost scolds, taking you by surpriseÂ
you find yourself straightening at his words, confused to see how conflicted he looks
âyou are the strongest person i know,â he tells you, and he means it. âi just donât get why you are atoning for their sins.â
âi donât know either,â you smile in defeat. âi just am.â
âwell, if you ever get tired,â he gently places his hands over your shoulders, âi am here for you. you can lean on me.â
you lock eyes with him, scanning his face. his smile seems genuine
the way he kisses your forehead makes your heart melt
when he embraces you, you lean on him physically
and you almost give in, exceptâŚ
âi can lean on you, huh?â you say, soaking in the warmth of his body, taking as much as you can before you continueÂ
âso you can end my career, merge our companies and crown yourself king?â
you look up at him, finding him smirking
just like you thought
ânot a chance, choi jongho.â
âhow can you see right through me every time, y/n?â he laughs loudly as you smack his chest and move towards the sofa to grab your purse
âiâm the only person who knows who you are,â you tell him. âyou can own the world, but you will never own me.â
his eyes glint almost dangerously
âchallenge accepted,â he says
you mockingly wave goodbye before exiting the room
choi jongho never changes, and neither do you
but somehow⌠it gets more addicting and electrifying to be with him, to compete with him and to stand with him
even though he is a tyrant, and you are everything that he is not

i asked on election night if anyone wanted a little drabble to help with the stress, and unfortunately it has taken me a little longer than i would like to get them out!
@det-agency: please write Edwin getting turned into an orb for the first time pre-canon and Charles freaking out i think itd be so fun
(fun fact, this is my first orb fic! i've wanted to write one for a minute, but this is the first that i've actually sat down and wrote out!)
Drabble 5 (Orb Fic)
London, 1991
Getting chased by a vengeful ghost was not exactly what Charles had planned for when theyâd set off to speak to their client, but he supposed thatâs what you get being a ghost detective.
Edwin sprinted ahead of him, his long legs easily giving him the speed that he needed to leave their client in the dust.Â
âWho woulda thought our client was the guilty one?â Charles yelled out to Edwin, who glanced over his shoulder.Â
âIt is certainly a twist,â Edwin said. He suddenly veered off to the right, racing towards the bedroom mirror they had come through earlier. If they could get there, they could head back to their newly established office and regroup. Theyâd certainly need to think of a better plan now that their client had turned on them and absolutely wasted their original suspect.
Edwin reached the mirror, his hand outstretched as he concentrated on getting them back to the office. Charles turned around, his hands immediately finding comfort in his cricket bat. If that bastard even thought about getting close to them heâd smash him.
âCome on,â he heard Edwin mutter under his breath. âFind it, find it, find it.â
Mirror travel was something Charles had yet to master, but Edwin was aces at it. It would probably only take him a second beforeâ
A choked, gasping sound came from behind him, followed by the tell-tale sound of someone stepping through a mirror. He spun around, worried for a moment that Edwin might have fallen through the mirror and been separated from him, when he felt his soul go cold.
Their client, Geoff Mann, stepped from the mirror. His hand was already through, and in his fist was an iron knife.
An iron knife covered in ghostly blood.
âEdwin!â Charles yelled, rushing forward just as Edwin staggered backwards.
His hands were on his throat, blood seeping through his fingers. Charles felt panic like he never had before. Iron hurt ghosts, but could it kill them? Was stabbing enough to obliterate a ghost? Maybe not, but what about cutting their throat?
Edwin fell straight into his arms, and Charles would have dropped his cricket bat if it werenât for the vengeful ghost of their client standing over them. Blood dripped off of the knife and pooled on the carpet and it seemed wrong that it wouldnât actually stain it. Not that Charles wanted anything to be stained with his best friendâs blood, it just seemed wrong that it wouldnât.
âHold on,â he said in what he hoped was his most reassuring voice. Gently, and without looking away from Geoff, he slid Edwin to the floor. He ignored his hand dragging down Charlesâs arm, begging him to stayâ to not leave him alone.
This would only take a moment. Besides, he needed to take care of the threat before he tended to Edwin.
âYou fucked up,â Charles said, twirling his bat. Geoff didnât even have the decency to look the least bit frightened.Â
âYouâre gonna make me move on,â Geoff said. âAnd I ainât doinâ it.â
They werenât. Thatâs not what their Agency did. They couldnât force someone to move on if they didnât want to. It wasnât even what Geoff had originally hired them for!
But none of that mattered now. Not when Edwin was behind him, gasping and potentially dying.Â
(He wasnât even sure what dying would mean for a ghost. Would he go back to Hell? Disappear?)
He didnât even give him a chance to respond. He swung his bat against his arm, almost enjoying the way it cracked and forced him to drop his knife.
Charles wasnât a violent person, no matter how much he feared being like his father. But the satisfaction he got from seeing that man drop to his knees in pain after what heâd done to Edwin? Well, he might need to reflect on that.
The urge to keep going was strongâ after all, what was to stop him from coming after them later? â but he forced himself to stop.Â
âIf anything happens to him,â Charles warned, holding out his bat against the other manâs head. âIâm cominâ back.â
Quicker than the other man could react, he bent down and picked up his knife and turned back to get Edwin.Â
He laid there, air and blood gurgling as he tried to keep his wound closed. At some point his eyes had screwed shut, like that might help block out the pain. They sprang open at the first sign of Charlesâs touch, that faint bit of panic heâd seen when something reminded him of Hell shooting across his face before flattening out into something more manageable.
âLet's go,â Charles said. He put his hands under his armpits, intending to haul Edwin up if he had to, but a flash of light overwhelmed his vision and Edwin disappeared.
âEdwin!â he yelled and looked from hand to hand as if he might have somehow been hiding there.Â
A small orb, just a bit bigger than a cricket ball, floated there in front of him. There was no trace of Edwin, just the small, pulsing yellow orb.
âEdwin?â he asked, unable to keep the disbelief out of his voice.
The orb bobbed for a moment, as if it were answering. The yellow seemed to glow brighter for a second before dimming until it was a faded, off-white color.Â
Forget it. Charles had no clue what was going on, but he didnât have time for this. He snatched Edwin up and booked it through the mirror, no destination in mindâ only intent on getting them as far away as possible.
It took several tries before he got back to the office, and by then his nonexistent heartbeat had slowed down to something far more bearable. Without even thinking he tossed his bag and bat to the floor and uncovered the ball of light heâd been keeping safe in his hands.
There was an unexpected feeling to it, not quite a weight but certainly a warmth. It reminded him of when he was alive and heâd stick his cold finger next to a heater or run them under warm water once theyâd gone numb.
It was the first time heâd felt warmth since he died.
He held the orb closer to his face and chest for inspection. It was perfectly round, the edges of it reminding him of an impossible mix of glass and a cloud. It wasnât solid, but he also couldnât put his hand through it, even if he tried.
âEdwin?â he asked again. Could this really be Edwin? What had that ghost done to him?
The orb pulsed, yellow light coming back to it before fading again into that cool, white light.
So it really must be Edwin.Â
He glanced over at Edwinâs slowly growing collection of books and wondered if there was something about this in one of them. The subject of orbs had never come up before, but then again, neither one of them had ever been as hurt as Edwin was before.Â
Was this what happened when something hurt them? How badly did they need to be hurt in order for it to happen?Â
âHey,â Charles said as he ran his hand over the orb. âDonât worry, Iâve gotcha.â
There was another pulse. The orb seemed to hover above his hands for a moment before gravity seemed to take over it and it dropped back down.Â
In a sheer panic, Charles caught it. Or not it, he supposed. Because this thing had to be Edwin. If it wasnât that would mean that either Edwin was gone or heâd left him behind with their insane client.Â
The idea that he might have done that nearly sent him into a tailspin. Should he double back and check? What if this was a trick and the real Edwin was somehow still there? Or what if there was something special about his knife that had turned Edwin into an orb?
Gently, he cradled Edwin to his chest as he turned to look for his bag. Heâd picked up the knife, hadnât he? Thankfully, it only took a few tries before he successfully pulled it from his bag. Ha, take that Edwin, he was getting better at using it.
âSee, mate,â he said, his voice low and soft as he spoke over the orb. âI told you this bag was worth it. Already earninâ its keep, hm?â
The handle of the knife was thankfully not iron coated. Charles hadnât even thought about that earlier when heâd grabbed it. All heâd been thinking about was that Edwin was hurt, and heâd needed to disarm the guy.
Blood covered the blade, but aside from that there seemed to be nothing interesting about it at all. Not strange markings, no traces of magic that he could tell. It looked exactly like every other boring knife out there.
Except this one had hurt his friend.
The orbâ Edwin, Charles supposedâ pulsed again, the light from it peeking out between his fingers. Had Charles squeezed it by accident? Heâd been so focused on the knife, so caught up in thoughts of their client hurting him that he hadnât reallyâŚ
Slowly but with more force than Charles anticipated, the orb pulled free from his hand. It bobbed around the room, floating here and there as if it were looking for something. It lingered above Edwinâs chair, the space where the other boy spent most of his time in the office.Â
Yet there was nothing for it to do. Itâs not like the orb had hands. It couldnât hold a book or write or do anything that usually interested Edwin.Â
As if it had realized this, it lazily floated back over to Charles. That yellow light seemed to be getting even stronger, calming Charlesâs nerves just a bit. A strong light had to be a good sign, yeah? Surely that meant that Edwin was fine.Â
Except what if he wasnât fine? What if yellow was bad and he was trying to warn Charles? What if he needed help, and Charles couldnât understand him? How was he meant to do anything if Edwin couldnât talk to him anymore?
The orb bumped into his head, the softest, gentlest headbutt Charles had ever experienced. His thoughts slowed down as he lifted his hands up to cup the orb again.
âWell, mate,â Charles said. âWhat do you think we should do?âÂ
Edwin didnât answer. Not that Charles thought he would.
âWhat if I read to you?â he asked. âI love it when you read to me. Helps me relax, yeah?â
Edwin seemed to warm up in his hands again. Charles took that as a good sign.
He strolled over to Edwinâs bookcase (our bookcase, Charles, the Edwin in his mind reminded him) and browsed their selection. Most of them were detective novels, but Edwin had recently started to collect more on magic and the supernatural.
No, he thought, should really stick to a classic.
âWhat about Sherlock Holmes? You love him,â he said, as if Charles didnât also love him.
He grabbed one of their Sherlock Holmes books at random and made his way over to the couch. âMight as well get comfy, eh?â he asked and sprawled out.
For a moment, Charles was sure Edwin was going to float away. Maybe he hadnât been as interested in reading to him as heâd thought. Instead, Edwin merely rolled down until he was resting on Charlesâs chest, that warm, familiar feeling spreading all over him.
So Charles read to him. He read to him until he had finished one book, and then started on another that he could reach. His voice was a low rumble, the sound fading into the background as he split his attention between the words and Edwin. Time passed slowly and hazily, the sort of dream-like quality that only came when it didnât really matter.
Eventually, when he thought he might go insane from reading so much, he talked. He told Edwin how he was sorry he hadnât been fast enough to stop himâ because really, Charles had been right there after allâ and how he hoped that Edwin forgave him. He told him that when Edwin felt better, he would do anything he wanted. Heâd even go see that play heâd been talking about that Charles couldnât remember the name of if he wanted. And there was a show that Charles was interested in going to, but they could stand at the back where it was quieter and they were less likely to get stepped on if Edwin wanted to come.
He told him how much he missed him. How worried he was about him. How he knew that it had only been about a day since heâd gone into this form, but he didnât think heâd missed anyone this much. Not his mum or dad, not his friends or teachers. No one.
Finally, he fell silent. He was sure that if he dug down deep enough there was more for him to say, but what was the point? Edwin was still stuck looking like the worldâs brightest cricket ball, and he had just spilled about everything he had in him.
âIâm just worried,â Charles said. His arms wrapped around the orb so tightly it doubled as a self-hug. âYâknow I worry.â
Then again, maybe Edwin didnât know. Charles loved to portray himself as this confident, friendly guy. Sure, he could be protective, but did Edwin know he was serious enough that he could worry?
Something shifted. The solid, golden color the orb had been since heâd started reading to him briefly changed. It flashed blue, a color that Charles normally loved but reminded him too much of Death in this instance, before it faded, and the orb was gone.
Before he could worry whether or not Death had actually come for them, he felt a solid weight pressing down on him. And there, in his lap, laid out across him, was Edwin. His feet were tucked up, allowing his long body to fit neatly onto the couch, his head cradled against Charlesâs chest.
âEdwin?â he breathlessly asked.
Edwin shifted, his head tilting back just enough to look up at him. Charles had to loosen his death grip on him to allow even that. âCharles?â
Immediately, Charles hugged him closer. He smashed Edwinâs face into his chest and pressed his chin to the top of his head. âDonât ever do that again, mate,â he said. âI mean it.â
For a moment, Edwin was frozen. Then, he thawed and relaxed himself into Charlesâs hug. âI did not mean to worry you,â he said softly.
âYeah, well, you did,â Charles said without any heat to it. Finally, he let his arms slide away from Edwin and allowed himself to get his first real look at his friend.
The first thing he noticed was that he looked tired. Dark bags lined his eyes and blood still smeared his collar, although whatever wound had been made was gone. He seemed paler than normal as well, but Edwin was always so pale it was hard to tell.Â
âAlright?â he asked, still looking for any sign that he wasnât.
Edwin nodded. âYes,â he said. His voice sounded stronger than before, and God if it didnât sound like Heaven to Charles. The idea that he might never have heard his friend speak again hadnât truly hit him until this moment. âI believe I am unharmed.â
Charlesâs eyes darkened. âYou were stabbed. In the neck,â he said. Or close enough, anyways. âAnd then you turned into this glowing ball, and⌠well, I didnât know what to do.â
Edwin flinched at the mention of his wound before soothing his expression into one of fondness. âYes, I⌠seem to remember that,â he said. His hand came up to touch his throat, only to find no wound there. âIt would seem I have healed.â
âMaybe thatâs what that was?â he asked and made a gesture with his hand to show orb-sized Edwin. âMaybe that was like âghost healingâ?âÂ
Something between annoyance and acceptance flashed across Edwinâs face. âI believe you have it right,â Edwin said. âIt would seem that would be the form ghosts take when they heal.â
Charles nodded. âKinda brills, honestly. Like a turtle goinâ into their shell or something.â
Edwin squinted his eyes at the comparison. âI suppose,â he said. And then almost immediately collapsed when he tried to get up.
âOi!â Charles said and wrapped his arms around him. âWhatâre you doing? You wanna be an orb again?âÂ
Edwin huffed as he settled back down. His face had washed out even more after his ill-advised attempt. âNo, I do not,â he said. âBut it hardly seems appropriate for me to just⌠lay all over you.â
Before he had died, Charles might have agreed. There was a certain amount of weirdness to it, he supposed, but that didnât mean that he wanted Edwin to get up. In fact, he wanted Edwin to stay right where he was until he was strong enough to stand without passing out again.
Edwin rolled his eyes when he said this. âI did not pass out. Ghosts cannot do that,â he said. Yet he laid his head back down against Charlesâs chest, his now ruffled hair tickling Charlesâs chin.Â
âGo back to sleep,â Charles said. Before Edwin could argue, he held a hand up and used it to gently bop him on the arm. âAnd donât say ghosts canât sleep. Thatâs basically what you were doing before.â
Edwin started to shake his head, but the motion quickly became him snuggling down against Charles. âI am merely resting my eyes.â
Charles grinned, a sudden wave of fondness heâd never felt for anyone else overtaking him. âYeah, well rest your mouth too.â
Edwin tried to flip him off but failed. âAlmost had it,â Charles teased.
âIâll figure it out one day,â he said before fading back off to sleep.Â
At least this time he stayed a ghost.

I didnât sleep last night after the episode. I stayed up, I wrote a fic, and then I just existed in my thoughts for a while. I am exhausted and feel paper thin right now.
Fun fact. I havenât cried in over a year.
I donât know why, but I havenât had the full on sobbing breakdown that Iâve desperately needed this last year. Itâs like my body refuses to release the tension. This morning though? I finally let some of it out in a couple of sobs. This was the breaking point after a horrible week.
I am well aware this is a fictional relationship and there was always the risk of them breaking up.
But this was the first thing that brought me unquestionable and unrelenting joy in the last 6 months. The 6 months prior to that? I tried no less than 4 times to take my own life in varying ways. I took steps to make sure that was no longer something I wanted to do, but I feel hollow right now. So yes. Today I am hurting and grieving a loss because I feel like I lost a part of myself, too. A part I had only just gotten back and intimately begun to know. I feel robbed right now the same way so many other people do.
But Iâm not going to just let go of them. This pair brought me immense joy and brought so much good into my life. I fully intend to keep writing them and engaging in the community that still exists.
We all deserve so much better. Just like Lou.

Todayâs the day. The day youâve been anxiously awaiting for a while now. Every year itâs the same, it never seems to get easier for you no matter how hard you wish it would.
Itâs your brotherâs birthday, and itâs been a while since youâve gotten to celebrate with him in person. He passed away and every year on his birthday you find yourself unable to function properly. Everyone tells you it gets better with time, but youâre still waiting for that to start kicking in.
There are some days where you find yourself so overcome with grief you canât even find the right words to describe it, and there are other days where for a little while you almost forget heâs not here anymore. You yearn for those days, those days that feel like youâre floating and thereâs nothing but calmness surrounding you.
You wish his birthday was one of those tranquil days.
As you move mechanically around the kitchen, doing your normal tasks as you would any other day, you find yourself trying not to fall apart.
Grief is a really funny thing. At times you believe your mourning period has passed and that that part of you thatâs now missing has been patched and youâll be able to handle this day on your own without any consolation. Other times you donât even know how youâre able to stand up on your own and be expected to continue on. Itâs like a balancing act, never knowing which way the scale is going to tip. Calm or devastated. Good or bad.
Pouring yourself something to drink, you think back on all the happy memories with your brother that you can. You know in your heart he wouldnât want you to be sad today, or any day really. Itâs just incredibly hard to not notice his absence, especially on his special day. Itâs hard when you miss him so much and want nothing more than to celebrate with him instead of without.
Over the past few days youâve tried not to focus too much on your brotherâs birthday. Youâve kept busy and continued business as usual but you canât deny the moments of sadness that crept in unannounced. Youâve talked to other family members about it and some of your friends too, a lot of them knowing what this day means to you and how hard it can be. You always keep up a brave face but itâs easier said than done on some days compared to others.
The sound of padded footsteps coming from your right breaks you out of your thoughts. When you turn your head youâre met with the soft smile on your boyfriendâs face. Itâs impossible not to reciprocate it. You donât know a soul on this Earth thatâs ever been able to withstand a smile from Austin Butler.
âHi, baby,â he says as he wraps his arms around you, his warmth and familiar scent immediately settling over you. Your body instantly relaxes against him, comfort beginning to course through your veins.
âHi, Aus.â It comes out almost like a whisper and you curse yourself for already showing a sign of weakness. You promised yourself last night that youâd try to get through this day on your own, not wanting to distract Austin from any of his work or typical routine. Alas itâs not turning out how you hoped. Thatâs the thing about grief though, no matter how hard you try, you never do know when itâs going to come creeping back in.
Busying yourself with cleaning up, you ease yourself out of Austinâs grasp. For some reason you feel that if you stay that close to him, it wonât be long before your walls start crumbling down and youâll both end up wrapped in devastation.
To be fair, you donât even know if your boyfriend realizes what today is. You know youâve mentioned it in passing, but with not wanting to make a big deal out of it you never really went into detail. Youâve talked to Austin about your brother before whether it be reminiscing about childhood memories or recalling an inside joke, but you always try to keep that devastation at bay.
The blonde hasnât said anything about it recently and with his hectic schedule lately, youâre sure it hasnât even crossed his mind. Youâre not hurt by it, if anything you understand and appreciate it. Itâs probably best if you handle today alone, in your own way.
A small frown adorns the corner of your lips and you make sure to turn your head so Austin doesnât notice it. One thing about him is that heâs always able to pick up on your emotions and can tell when somethingâs wrong. Best plan of action is to just proceed as you normally would. Youâre sure the actor has a million and one things to do today, so he should be out the door any minute now and youâll be able to tackle the day however your head and heart deem fit.
âAre you hungry?â You say as chipper as you can while you start to open up a cabinet, ready to whip up anything your boyfriend would like. âI can make you your favorite or if you have to leave soon I can just make you something to take on the go.â
âNo, Iâm okay, thank you. I-Iâm not working today.â You nearly bash your head into the cabinet door as you hear this. Your boyfriend was practically always working, especially now. So him saying this totally takes you by surprise.
âWhy not?â You turn around and face Austin and just based off the look on his face you can tell he remembers what day it is. His eyes are so sincere and you nearly burst into tears because he hasnât even said anything and yet you know exactly why he isnât working. Why he most definitely told his manager and whoever else that today specifically was off limits for any meetings or shoots.
âI took the day off. I know I havenât brought it up lately and you probably thought I forgot, but I know what today is, what it means and how important it is to you. I just wanted to be here with you and to let you know if you need me that Iâll be right here. I wonât let you deal with today on your own, sweetheart.â His tone is soft and he reaches out to caress your cheeks, wiping a tear you hadnât even realized slipped out in the process.
âAustin I-,â you gulp, emotion rising fast in your throat as you look into his blue eyes and feel the empathy radiating off of him. âYou didnât have to do that. I know how busy you are and I know it mustâve taken a lot to have your day cleared. Really, itâs fine if you want to go to work. I-I can handle it, Iâm fine-â
Your voice cracks and in that same moment you feel like part of your heart does as well.
Austinâs hands are tangled in your hair in an instant as he pulls you in close, holding your head against his shoulder as you begin to fall apart in his arms. There it is, one of those grief stricken moments you swore you wouldnât allow to take over you today. So much for holding it together.
Clearly your boyfriend doesnât seem to mind though, and for that youâll be eternally grateful. You let yourself go, let your emotions go, as he whispers affirmations in your ear. Softly shushing you and assuring you that itâs ok to let it all out. Itâs almost scary how easy it is for you to do this as well. To let yourself be vulnerable like this. But honestly? You wouldnât have it any other way. If youâre going to fall apart in anyoneâs arms, thereâs no one better than Austinâs to do it in.
After a while of being wrapped up in the blondeâs arms and after your sobs begin to turn into soft hiccups, you feel collected enough to take a small step back and start to wipe away any remaining tears.
âIâm sorry, Aus,â you whisper, feeling a little bad for just falling apart like this. You know he doesnât mind, he wouldnât have taken the day off if he did, but even still.
âHey, hey, hey, do not apologize. You have nothing to be sorry for.â Austin reaches out and swipes his thumbs underneath your eyes, collecting tears that havenât yet fallen. âIâm here for you, and if that means being a human tissue for the day then Iâm fine with that.â
A small laugh bubbles out of your throat and the sound makes Austin smile. He loves your laugh and heâd do anything to hear it, especially on a day like this.
âI hope you know how much I appreciate you. I know youâre no stranger to grief when losing a loved one, but I still appreciate you taking this in stride and just being there for me. This day itâs-itâs-,â your breath catches in your throat, but you clear it, not wanting your emotions to take over again. âItâs hard, but you certainly make it a lot less difficult to deal with and for that Iâm grateful.â
âOf course, baby. Iâm here for you, always. When you lose someone you love, itâs difficult enough to deal with, yet alone trying to deal with it on your own. I promise you Iâll always be here for you on this day and every other one you may need me for as long as youâll have me.â
A small smile breaks out on your lips and you donât know a better response than wrapping your arms around Austin and squeezing him with all the love and appreciation you can muster. You canât even imagine a day without him. Youâll have him forever if youâre able to.
Once the two of you break apart you watch as Austin begins to say something, but then appears to hesitate. His eyes meet yours and you start to wonder what it is he wants to say to you.
âNow I donât ever want to do anything that would make you uncomfortable, but over the past couple days Iâve been thinking about what we could do to celebrate your brother today. If youâre okay with it, Iâd like to take you somewhere.â The blonde takes a breath and then reaches for your hand, squeezing once before continuing. âYou trust me, right?â
Youâve never felt more sure of anything than you do right now in this moment when you say, âYes, with my whole heart.â
Your boyfriend smiles and you feel your stomach flutter with both gratitude and anticipation for what he has planned. No matter where it is he ends up taking you, you know with one hundred percent certainty that heâs doing it because he loves you and cares for you in a way you never even thought possible. That fact alone is what carries you out of that kitchen and through the front door.
*****
When Austin pulls the car into the parking lot of the flower shop connected to the cemetery your brother is buried in, you feel your heart begin to swell.
On the drive over, you began to brainstorm ideas of where it is your boyfriend was taking you. There was a small part of you that hoped he wasnât driving you to some restaurant or your familyâs house to try and take your mind off today, but that he was taking you right to this very place. In your mind, thereâs no better way to celebrate and remember your brother than celebrating with him as much as youâre physically able to.
Not a lot of people find comfort in visiting a grave in a cemetery, but itâs one of the only ways youâre able to feel some sort of closeness to your brother. He might not be visible to you, but thereâs something about sitting there and just talking out loud to him that allows you to feel some semblance of peace.
âNow I know everyone feels differently when it comes to visiting graves and doing stuff like this. So if youâre at all uncomfortable being here, you just let me know and Iâll turn this car around, weâll go right back home, and Iâll apologize for the rest of my life for ever crossing any boundaries with you.â
A breathy laughs escapes you and you shake your head as you reach out and hold Austinâs hand in yours. âNo, this is perfect. I very much appreciate you even thinking of doing this. I havenât been able to come out here in a while, especially not alone, so Iâm grateful you brought me here and that youâre willing to be by my side during it.â
âYouâre welcome, sweetheart,â he smiles.
Austin turns off the car and the two of you make your way inside, the smell of fresh flowers instantly hitting your nose and you breath in deeply, wanting to hold onto it. Itâs crazy to think there could be something so beautiful and alive surrounded by a place so sorrowful and morbid. Somehow, you think thereâs something poetic to be found in that.
Both you and Austin wander around the shop for a while, taking in all the gorgeous arrangements decorated specifically for different types of family members. You see plaques for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and then finally siblings. It hurts your heart to know people lose their loved ones in a blink of an eye every day. No one is safe from the horrors and unfairness of the world, but you wish with everything youâve got that they were.
You wish nearly every day that your brother had been.
As you walk further down the aisle, you find yourself getting stopped by a bouquet. It stands out from the others, itâs almost as if the colors and arrangement of it were calling out to you. One look at it and you know instantly itâs the one youâd like to get for your brother.
âAus, this oneâs perfect,â you say softly, stopping your boyfriend in his tracks. He looks over at it and smiles fondly. He thinks itâs perfect almost as much as you do.
Austin instantly grabs it and the two of you walk over to the checkout counter. You reach into your purse so you can grab your wallet, but the actor holds his hand out and shakes his head. âLet me, for his birthday.â
Tears immediately spring to your eyes at the sentiment and all youâre able to do in response is nod your head slightly and give Austin a wobbly smile. You donât know why youâre so surprised over all of this. This is who Austin is, itâs who he always has been, and itâs who he always will be.
*****
The gravel road that winds every which way through the cemetery causes the car to shake just slightly as Austin follows your instructions to get to your brotherâs grave. Youâre not entirely convinced thatâs the sole reason your stomach starts to knot though.
Even though itâs been a while since youâve visited this place, the moment Austin pulled up to the gates it was like you were here just yesterday. The landmarks are all too familiar, the shapes of other peopleâs headstones, and the view of other grieving families scattered around bring everything back instantly.
As you look around and tell Austin to pull over to the right up ahead, you start to feel a little lightheaded. In your mind you can see the day you buried your brother so vividly. You can hear the sniffles of family and friends and feel the slight breeze in the air as he was lowered into the ground.
Even though you appreciate being able to still somewhat spend time with your brother here, it does make it all seem so much more real. When you donât come and visit, sometimes youâre able to pretend that heâs still here, still alive. But the minute you see that headstone, youâre reminded that heâs not, and it gets harder to shake the sadness.
Austin puts the car in park and you both sit in silence for a moment. He watches you look out the window, knowing all too well the emotions running through you right now. He gives you a minute more before speaking up.
âDo you want me to wait in the car or is it okay to come with you?â His deep voice breaks you out of your thoughts and you blink several times before looking over at him.
âNo, come with me, please? I-I want you there.â Austin nods his head and exits the car, coming over to the passenger side and helping you out of the car as you hold onto your brotherâs bouquet.
Grass crunches under your shoes as you walk the few feet to your brotherâs grave, and a soft gasp passes through your lips as you come face to face with the headstone thatâs seared itself into your mind forever.
Kneeling down, you brush off the small bits of leaves and grass thatâve taken residence on the light gray stone. Your fingers trace over the letters imprinted within it and with each passing letter you feel your heart squeeze inside your chest.
Itâs so unfair how life can change so drastically in an instant. You remember the last conversation you had with your brother and you wish you wouldâve known that would be the last time you spoke to him. You wouldâve said more, wouldâve memorized more about his voice and the way he laughed. You wouldâve held on to anything and everything you could if it meant keeping even one more tiny thing of him close to you.
Lifting up the bouquet in front of you, you make sure everything in it looks perfect before placing it by the headstone and then standing back up by your boyfriend. The flowers look beautiful and you hate that you canât physically give them to your brother on his special day. You just hope heâs somewhere looking down at you and seeing how loved he still is. How heâll always be celebrated.
Suddenly, you feel Austin softly place his hand on your lower back and begin to rub circles on it. This is something he often does when he can tell youâre sad or getting overwhelmed and just need some sort of comfort. It always helps calm you down and you appreciate Austin doing it in this moment.
Austin truly cares so much for you and it blows your mind every single day how lucky you are to have someone like him in your life. Everything from the grand gestures to the smallest little things he does for you, you find yourself being so grateful for it all. Heâs such a wonderful guy and you smile thinking about how well he wouldâve gotten along with your brother.
You know instantly your brother wouldâve adored him. Heâd definitely try to play the protective brother card and give off the impression heâd never approve, but in your heart you know Austin wouldâve had him wrapped around his finger, much like how he has you. You could see them hanging out and watching sports together, talking about music and films, and overall finding such a genuine friendship within each other.
The thought brings a smile to your face and you let out a small laugh thinking about all the chaos theyâd get up to together.
Austin notices and his own curious smile adorns his lips as he wonders what you could possibly be thinking about. âWhatâs goinâ on in that pretty little head of yours?â
âI know you never got to meet him,â you start, a small tear trailing down your cheek as you take your eyes off the headstone in front of you and look towards your boyfriend. âBut heâd really like you.â
A small puff of air leaves Austin as he takes in your words. In an instant he has you wrapped in his arms and his lips pressed against your forehead. âOh, baby. I wish with all my heart I couldâve met him.â
You nod your head silently against him, knowing with everything youâve got that he genuinely means it.
âThank you for bringing me here, Aus,â you whisper, your words a soft rumble against the blondeâs chest. âYou have no idea how much this means to me. I appreciate it so much.â
âYou donât have to thank me, but youâre welcome. Iâd do practically anything for youâespecially thisâand especially today.â
You know Austinâs unfortunately no stranger to grief. He knows the pain of losing a loved one just as much as you do and you think itâs so kind of him to do all of this with you when you know it probably puts him back in his own memories of loss. The thought alone makes you squeeze him a little harder and plant a soft kiss on his cheek. âI love you, Austin.â
âI love you too,â he smiles. âYâknow if you wanna do this every year for your brotherâs birthday, we definitely can. If you want to, that is. I know itâll never change the fact heâs no longer with us, but maybe celebrating him like this and coming to leave some flowers at his grave every year can help you feel a little bit closer to him in a way.â
âYeah, Iâd really love that. I think he would too.â You smile up at your boyfriend and take in his thoughtful proposition. Youâd love to come visit your brotherâs grave like this for his birthday every year. Like Austin said, itâll never change the fact heâs not here with you anymore, but at least it gives you something to hold onto. It gives you something to keep your brother just a little bit closer to you, and youâd do anything to make that happen.
âItâs a deal then,â Austin says before leaning down and kissing you on the forehead. After pulling away he crouches down and plants himself on the grass. âCâmon, no more birthday blues. Letâs sit for a while. Iâd love for you to tell me more about your brother.â
Your heart soars at his interest. Most people would want to flee this situation. Get as far away from a place like this and ignore the fact someoneâs passed on completely. Not Austin. He faces it head first. He knows itâs hard, but he also knows it can be healing to do and it can mean a lot to someone too. He can tell by the look on your face heâs made the right call, and heâs grateful heâs able to be here for you in whatever way you need him.
âWell, where do I begin?â You wonder as you sit down next to the blonde. You rack your brain and try to decide on what story or fun fact you should share first. God knows you have an endless supply of them tucked away in your memory. Some funny, some sad, and some downright disturbing in the best way possible.
You glance over at Austin, settling on one and as you go to start sharing one of your favorite memories of your brother, you watch as your boyfriend completely tunes in to whatever it is youâre about to say. Nothing else seems to matter in this moment to him and that alone makes you want to wrap your arms around him and never let go.
Yeah, you think in your head, in a way speaking to your brother. You definitely wouldâve liked him.

Fic writer interview thank you for the tag @481boxboxbaby and @souvenir116
Tagging @saviour-of-lord and @ilyarozanove (not sure if you have been tagged already and no pressure if you don't like tag games!) and anyone else who wants to do this feel free to use this as your invite.
How many works do you have on AO3? 155 - Wow okay I donât know how I ended up writing so many.
What's your total AO3 word count? 1,076,320
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1. Preloved 2. Good Boy 3. A million times over 4. Weak 5. My Pretty Princess
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to respond to comments and I have gotten a lot better at it. If I have ever not responded it's because I have left it too late and then panic over whether it's still appropriate to respond!! I read all comments though, itâs the biggest motivator so thank you to everyone who leaves comments on fics, I appreciate you all <3
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Either âOne last nightâ or âHitching a rideâ Both are open ended though.Â
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? There are a lot that have happy endings but off the top of my head I will go with âA million times overâ. Itâs just an overall short cute one-shot.
Do you write crossovers? No
Have you ever received hate on a fic? If I have then I have forgotten about it because I canât recall any hate coming in. I am sure there are plenty of people who hate my stories though, Iâve just been lucky they havenât told me about it!Â
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes I do and lots of it. Almost any kind. Dom/sub, pain play, tentacles, omegaverse, lots of kinks, nice soft sex, loss of virginity. I would definitely say varied!
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not stolen but hmmm I have seen something very close to what I have written.Â
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, not that I have seen anyway. I have had people ask before but I am not sure if they ever actually translated them.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No but I have spoken about it with @481boxboxbaby unfortunately I am disastrously disorganised so I donât know if I should really inflict that on other people đ I do think it would be fun to have a fic with a set up and then multiple authors taking a chapter each to write the scenario from various drivers points of view. That would take a lot of organising though.
What's your all-time favorite ship? Lestappen
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? There are so many of them, I have a folder full of random wips that will likely never be finished. At the moment I am fighting my way to try and finish a cowboy Max au one shot, I have started it and deleted it soooo many times, I will finish it though, itâs just not clicking right now!Â
What are your writing strengths? I guess maybe just having a certain level of creativity when it comes to coming up with ideas. That can also be my downfall because there are too many ideas pinging around for me to concentrate on one!Â
What are your writing weaknesses? I always say that my writing style is more about a general vibe rather than it being grammatically correct đŹ
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Iâve personally never done it. Iâd have to use google translate and I wouldnât trust that it would read properly.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? F1
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?Charles/Oscar or Max/Rico Verhoeven. I will get around to writing them eventually
What's your favorite fic you've written? Itâs probably recency bias but the fic I am writing and posting right now âPrelovedâ is probably my favourite. I think it's also super encouraging when people are commenting and enjoying the story so it has made the whole thing more enjoyable. I will definitely be writing some more multi chaptered fics going forward. Of the one shots maybe The Sweetest Deal because it plays into my love of babygirl Max.

I have no way of counting how many times I've read WAR or how long ago I first read it, it may actually have been 2015. I was just relistening to KIS since the new episode came out and it's so wonderful, especially right now. I have been considering getting a WAR inspired tattoo for many years so I'll tell you if I actually do that but I just wanted to say again how wonderful your work is and how much it means. Also LOVE the much ado about nothing I want that so bad.
hi! thank you so much for your kind words about WAR and Keep It Steady.
on the topic of KIS in particular, i've been having kind of a mini crisis about whether or not it will be feasible during a second Trump administration for me to continue professionally making the kinds of stuff that i love to make (for those of you just joining us, i write queer young adult novels andâlargely queerâaudio dramas for a living). i still don't have any answers but it means a lot to me to hear that anyone is even slightly bolstered by something i wrote, particularly in these dark times.
(please get me posted if you do get a WAR tattoo. i can't totally wrap my mind around it, but i am so honored that you're even thinking about it.)
and so glad you're enjoying my extremely silly Much Ado fic! there will definitely be more of it at some point. i mean, there already is; it's just waiting on a beta. those Messina House kids are about to have a wild autumn, i can tell you that much.
i just want to say what a lovely message this was to receive, especially in this particular moment in time. take care!

Well, if they confirm that Lou isn't in any more episodes, then yes obviously bucktommy is over in canon--but fanfic and fanart still exists so we can go right on enjoying them however we want.
As far as series canon goes if buddie is on the horizon so be it, but if Lou is still appearing in more episodes then this is just the "breakup" part of their story, rom-com style, before things work out in the end.
Either way I plan to keep going w/bucktommy fics, and if the fandom ever chills the fuck out about ship "membership" enough, I might feel safe to write another bvddie fic. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it right now though because (in my experience) there's so much hostility toward multi-shipping among bvddies, I feel like anything I wrote would just get flamed to hell and back because I dared to root for something else--and will continue to enjoy bucktommy even if they are over in canon.
We'll see what happens. I am eager to get confirmation of whether or not Lou is off the show, but either way I've had so much fun. And I plan to keep having fun. I'd love for us all to keep hanging out, sharing art, fics, etc. Because we can.

@sasheneskywalker i love when you enable me to ramble about things because oh my god do i have thoughts.
so recently, i made a post discussing the phenomena of DC x DP and DC x MLB crossovers and why they exist and part of that post was discussing how largely speaking, at least half, if not more of the Batfamily fandom doesn't read the comics. if they interact with canon DC material, it's adaptations that are their own sequestered universes and oftentimes not remotely comic accurate or seeking to be. the most obvious example is the Young Justice cartoon. i'm adding a cut to this post because it just got so long i'm so sorry.
a lot of times, when people are discussing the "why" of this oversaturation of fanon-only fandom, they blame Wayne Family Adventures. and i think, to a point, i agree WFA is responsible for a boom in this fandom. but as someone who's been in the fandom long before we had WFA, to me it's the other way around. WFA was DC's way of meeting the demand for this easy-to-get-into, easy-to-consume content about the Batfamily that predicates itself on the comics just enough to be vaguely the same characters, but has a more sitcom, slice-of-life sort of vibe so DC could profit off of this section of the fanbase that otherwise wasn't consuming its primary material. and well, it's definitely worked. not only that, but i have a weird theory that the decline in the MCU also led to the rise in the Batfamily fandom. when you consider the fan content that made the MCU popular within fandom, it's that 2012 "they all live in Avengers Tower and Thor is eating poptarts and Clint is in the vents and there are movie nights every Friday" sort of vibe. those were the fics that were a hallmark of the fandom. and as the MCU has strayed from well... quality content in general, but specifically well-thought-out crossover content where characters can have their own arcs but also exist in a wider story where they clearly care about each other, that fandom was sort of homeless. so where do you go, if you like a superhero found family where you can have villains for angst but also stick them all in one big family-like home for silly crack and have a plethora of options for gay ships? well. you go to the Batfamily. if you write a crack/fluff Batfamily genfic with silly vibes and low stakes instead of say, a fic about a very specific comic issue even if it's a popular comic, you're *going* to get more traction for the former. because the fanbase largely just isn't reading the comics.
and i feel... complicated about this. because on one hand, Don't Like Don't Read has been a tenet of my fandom experience. i'm very pro-fandom and that includes fandom content i don't like. and to an extent, i do think this sort of should apply to Batfamily fanon. i enjoy having my moments with other comic purists, giggling over exceptionally painful OOC headcanons or even facepalming in pain over some content but it is on me to not interact with that content. you don't make fandom a better place by being hostile to fans who engage with canon in ways you don't approve of. and frankly? we as comic readers are not going to get non-comic fans to read the comics by being asshats to them. no one is going to want to pick up any comic if we get a superiority complex about it. and also, i feel like we're all lying to ourselves a little bit insisting comics are so, so easy to get into. they're not. we can just all agree, they're really not. i've been single-handedly helping my sister get into comics, specifically Wonder Woman and no matter how simple i make it, i watch her get frustrated trying to understand what pre-Crisis and post-Crisis and New-52 and Flashpoint and all these things mean and what a retcon vs a reboot is and what a Crisis Event is and what the hell Diana's current backstory even *is*. sure, you can give someone a beginner list of comics to start with and slowly dip their toes in the water but sooner or later, *something* is going to confuse them. comics as a medium straight up aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea. and if someone *just* wants to read silly fluffy fanfiction about the Batfamily, i can't entirely begrudge them for not wanting to take the hours and hours out of their day to understand this medium. it's not an accessible medium to get into. "read this and this, but this run is out of print and this run wasn't collected in trades at all but also make sure you read that event in order and this is a good comic but the backstory in it is retconned and you *have* to read this it's so important but it's also really bad because the author kind of sucks" sounds. ridiculous for someone who like. just wants to read some stuff about Nightwing. sometimes, we all make reading comics sort of sound like a chore, not a hobby.
so my point is, i do extend some grace to Batfamily fanon for existing. i think my biggest gripe is, as i said in my other post, misuse of tags (if you're not creating content about comics, maybe you don't need the comics fandom tag on Ao3, just the all media types umbrella tag) and my far bigger gripe: when panels are taken out of context to support fanon only headcanons. if i could impart *anything* onto the Batfamily fandom as a comic fan it'd be this: if you haven't *read* the comic, don't spread the panel. if you don't even know what comic it's *from*, don't spread the panel. it's fine to use comic panels to discuss your headcanons, but so often i see someone spreading a comic panel from a comic they haven't read, and when asked where it's from, they can't source it. a silly example that comes to mind is a post going around, taking a panel where Dick, in his internal monologue goes "here comes the sun. do do do do." and the post is claiming it's from him getting buried alive. when that panel comes from Nightwing (1996) #140, and he gets buried alive in Nightwing (1996) #127, two completely different moments frankensteined together. if you're going to not read the comics, that's completely fine, but unless you're sure of the source and the context, panels shouldn't be spread around. i'm sick of this specifically happening to Red Robin (2009), with ppl claiming Tim has totally killed people because he blew up some of Ra's' bases, when those panels within context, make it clear he gave everyone time to escape. and in a later arc in that very comic, Tim grapples with the idea of murdering Captain Boomerang, and *specifically chooses not to*, because he doesn't agree with murder, even against the person who has hurt him the most. if you'd like to write fanfiction where Tim is pro-murder and has done some sketch things, i'm totally on board and would probably like to read it. but there's no need to pretend it's canon from a few panels you saw out of context.
beyond that, i think it's not *entirely* correct to say that fanon is harmless. whenever i see very WFA-positive posts, they often default to the argument that WFA is fun and silly, and comic fans are killjoys for not liking it. which. i think is complicated because the issue is, WFA and fanon don't exist in a vacuum. if you like WFA power to you, i don't think it's the worst thing ever, but i do think it's degrading to these characters because honestly? they feel incompetent in the webtoon. it's one thing if WFA was solely a slice-of-life sort of deal, just having silly episodes where Bruce is taking on a PTA mom or they're all fighting for the last cookie. but when WFA attempts to take on more serious plots with these characters, it *fundamentally* falls flat in understanding them. i get it, Bruce comforting Jason having a panic attack because a noise reminded him of the crowbar felt cute in a microcosm, but i'm so serious when i say that storyline destroyed how like. half of this fandom understands Jason Todd's relationship to his trauma. it doesn't understand how he reacts when he's triggered, what coping mechanisms he seeks out, and how he would handle Bruce comforting him. even if i can believe for a brief moment Jason *would* be triggered by something like that, him running and trying to hide and then getting a hug from Bruce to make it okay is just. painful. WFA needs everything to be wrapped up in a nice, neat little bow. so even when it starts to tackle interesting concepts, it makes them fall flat with its need to be soft, low stakes, hurt/comfort. there was a two-parter episode that dealt with the complicated mutual hatred/jealousy between Tim and Damian that *almost* really interested me because for once, it felt like the webtoon wanted to explore canon messy dynamics. but of course, it had to be fixed with one conversation and a hug. you don't mend the *years* of issues these characters have like that. WFA isn't in character because these characters are hyperbole cartoonified versions of themselves to fit within the medium and be a cute happy family.
because that right there, is the crux of it. the Batfamily fanon seeks to simplify the Batfamily and force them into a nuclear family. there are so many fantastic posts on here discussing how the nuclear family-ification of the Batfam is eroding decades worth of complex histories so i won't go too far into that. but what i will say is that there's this need, in the Batfamily fandom, for the Batfamily to exist as a unit. they are a *family*. (honestly i think calling it the Batfamily is a misnomer and has been for years but we're in too deep now.) they exist to each other first, and any teams or friends they have come secondary to this family unit. you can *specifically* see this demonstrated in what headcanons are becoming popular these days. i have an entire lengthy meta in my drafts about how i *loathe* the "the Batfamily meets the Justice League" genre of fanfic because it makes no *sense*. in order to have this genre of fic exist, you must operate under the assumption that no one in the League, or adjacent to the League, knows the Batfamily exists and are thus utterly shocked to discover Batman has kids. and to make *that* work, you have to strip *every single Batfamily member* of such important dynamics and friendships so you can lock them all in Gotham for their whole lives. Dick can't have the Titans, Tim can't have Young Justice, Duke & Cass can't have the Outsiders, Jason can't have the Outlaws, Damian can't have the Supersons, Babs can't have the Birds of Prey, and so on. because if they had these relationships, they would be known to the League. the Batfamily fandom doesn't care about this, it's just "silly fanfiction", it's not trying to be serious. but how can you say you like Dick Grayson as a character if you don't understand the Titans *are* his family? at some points of his life, moreso than the Batfamily even is. it is constantly repeated to us in most comics with Dick how much the Titans mean to him. he *needs* them to be who he is. the same extends to every other Batfamily member, most of which have been full League members at this point. but in fanon, that doesn't matter. the Batfamily are a sequestered unit first, and all of those side relationships are secondary and easy to toss away, if it makes your fanfic work better.
and because they have to be a unit first, you have these forced relationships that dump years of actual canon material for the sake of making them get along. the Batfamily fandom has its favorites and well. it's no secret it's usually the boys. Jason and Tim by *far* stand out as fandom faves so, their dynamic is a heavily explored one. it does matter that in canon they don't tend to get along and especially don't see each other as family. what matters is that you can push dynamics onto them. and so fanon gets all twisted up about which Robin Tim actually idolized as a kid (Dick) and what member of the Batfamily is pro-murder but still an older sibling figure to him and looks out for him (Helena, or if you want the dynamic of once tried to harm Tim but they've reconciled, Jean-Paul) in favor of who's the most popular. Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian are always going to be the standouts for popularity, but it's specifically Jason and Tim who are getting fanonized the most. and that's because really, we don't have much canon content of Tim that *isn't* the comics. for Dick you've got Young Justice (tv), for Damian you've got the DCAMU, for Jason you've sort of got the Under The Red Hood movie, but Tim sort of lingers in this limbo. (yes, he's in Young Justce (tv) and Titans (live action) but in neither is he the main character nor given much depth) so, he gets a *lot* projected onto him and has become fanonized. and even with Jason's animated movies, you don't see him interact with Tim, so people build it from the ground up how they want to see it, disregarding of canon comics. i think it's what makes him so popular in the first place- he's malleable into whatever you want or need him to be.
and of course, the fanon ignores other characters in the Batfamily it doesn't know about. i feel like you could create a tier list of Batfamily characters by their popularity, going from the fandom main characters: Tim, Jason, Bruce, Alfred, Dick, Damian. to the underrated: Steph, Duke, Babs, Cass. to the forgotten about unless they're convenient for a story: Kate, the Foxes, Helena Wayne, Carrie, Selina, Harper Row, Maps, Minhkhoa Khan. to the absolutely unknown: Helena Bertinelli, Jean-Paul Valley, Onyx Adams, the Clovers, Julia Pennyworth. it's not lost on me that the ignored characters tend to be women and people of color. which is both a canon and fanon problem, DC will continue adding interesting characters to the Batfamily, play with them for a few years, then drop them to default to the "Batboys" again. and it's a vicious cycle of the fandom only caring about the "Batboys", and thus people entering the fandom via fanon osmosis won't have content about the other characters, therefore, they won't be interested in those characters enough to create it, and it's just this ouroboros consuming itself, no matter how much canon content we have of these other characters. and it's ridiculous just how large the Batfamily is becoming because of this, which is why i'm a pre-Flashpoint fan, because then the Batfamily was contained enough to actually feel like a family with every character having nuances relationships with each other, but i digress because those thoughts could be their own post.
and the thing about fanon is it doesn't exist in a vacuum. DC has started turning the comics to accommodate for what fans are asking for, because fans will beg and beg for content they're not going to consume. Tim Drake: Robin had Tim as a coffee drinker because that's the fanon accepted headcanon. and the resolution of the recent Gotham War arc was for Bruce to buy this new manor for everyone to move in and call him. nevermind that most of these characters have their own homes and have zero reason to be moving in with Bruce. Tim had his marina in Tim Drake: Robin, Dick has Bludhaven, Cass and Steph have their little side of town in Batgirls (2022), and so on. these characters are being forced together as a unit, as one big happy family living together, to appease what non-comic fans want and it's damaging comic relationships. Robin: Knight Terrors saw Jason and Tim team up and working together, which i've seen varying opinions on but i personally despised. their interactions made zero sense for any of their canon history, but it appeases them being this close sibling relationship that fanon acts like they are. also the fears they faced in their respective knight terrors didn't make sense for either character and *only* worked as a moment of bringing them together so they could reassure each other and have this weird dreamscape bonding moment. the canon is bending itself to the will of fanon rather than building on the pre-existing complex relationships. Tim barely even gets along with his most important team in Dark Crisis: Young Justice because it seems the only important relationships the Batfamily can have is with each other. and when we do see them outside of the Batfamily, it only seems to be to relive the glory days like with World's Finest: Teen Titans, instead of developing them as they currently exist. this isn't recent in the comics, it feels like you can trace it back to the New-52, but it does feel a *lot* worse over the recent years. WFA is fine when it exists in its own bubble, but the simple truth is, DC content never exists on its own. the adaptations will reflect back onto the comics. (the damage the Young Justice cartoon has done to some characters should honestly be studied) and so it does frustrate me a bit when fanon-only or adaptation-only fans act like we're being nothing but killjoys for being frustrated with this. since they don't read the comics, they don't see how the comics are suffering as a result of this.
people argue about what's out of character for the comics they don't even read. i'm sorry, but "bad dad Bruce" is consistently canon. that man is just kind of shitty. when you take someone who has the drive he has, who has this need for the Mission first, who needs a teenager in spandex next to him to keep him off the ledge, that guy is sort of going to be a shitty father figure. he just is. not on purpose or with malice, but when you compare him to any other dad in a big DC family, he sure takes the cake. it's why characters like Oliver Queen tend to *really* fucking hate Bruce for how he treats his kids. Bruce loves fiercely, but he doesn't do well with putting that love first. and his love is a controlling one, he is very particular about controlling how others in the Batfamily are "allowed" to operate. it's what drives the wedge between him and Dick, it's why Steph is never a true daughter to him. (besides the reason of her needing to be a love interest to Tim first, anyway-) i've never understood the massive outcry of people reacting to Bruce kinda being shitty in comics they're not reading. there are some moments that get ridiculously OOC with how cartoonishly evil he is (the whole Gotham War arc and that... complicated mess with Jason) but largely if you want sitcom loving nuclear father Bruce, you have to accept that is a fanon thing, not a canon one. the Batfamily being a nuclear family in *general* is fanon. most of the "Batkids" don't actually see Bruce in a particularly fatherly light and begging for moments where he calls them his kids or they call him dad outside of incredibly specific circumstances is just OOC.
it's getting harder and harder to exist peacefully in this fandom it feels like, if you don't comply to the standard fanon has set. i'm happy people are having fun with their blorbos, even if in ways i dislike, but that "harmless fandom fun" does ripple it's way back to canon, eventually. so i end up pretty tangled with my feelings because are fans at fault for DC making these poor decisions? probably not, but it certainly feels like an unfortunate cause-and-effect situation whether at the end of the day, nobody is happy. and of course, i know some fanon-only fans are striving to be more canon accurate and care about canon dynamics more than others, but for them it's always going to be an uphill battle with the above-mentioned out-of-context panels thrown around and ever-pervasive fanon overtaking anything that's truly seeking to be canon compliant. so really, it sometimes feels like we're all losing.
#necrotic festerings#batfamily#batfamily meta#dc comics#fandom meta#fan studies#fanon vs canon#i deleted paragraphs of this to try to make it shorter. it failed btw.#anyway i got into comics when i was like 12 with the dark knight returns#and if i hadn't been into this medium for a decade i don't think i would be able to get into it as an adult so i get it#bc i'm trying to get into marvel comics and fuck ME am i confused as fuck.#do marvel comics have like. an equivalent to crisis events?#is the ultimates like their version of the new-52? i do NOT know#it's so hard and daunting so trust me i get it#if you never wanna pick up a comic god i respect you you're so right this is fucking miserable#i want to live and let live in fandom but *god* i'm struggling here#i used to bend to the will of fanon fun fact#i wrote my share of tim and jason fics playing into fanon tropes. god i hate them *now* but they did fucking numbers.#and i used to care more about getting attention in fandom than being accurate#i've matured now. it's why i write on anonymous so much to remind myself this should be for me.#anyway i could do a character study on every batfam member as fanon vs canon#ESPECIALLY tim and jason. i know so much about them trust me.#jason todd fans annoyed me so much i once sat and read almost every fucking jason comic. i didn't even like him.#but i tell you what i know that man and he will never leave my top five characters on league of comics.#this is so long. is anyone going to read all of this.#if you do you're a fucking trooper i'm saluting you.#this isn't even all of my thoughts i had to condense myself.#bc i also have thoughts about how this means some characters no longer get to exist outside of the batfam#because they only exist as a member of the unit#ergo we have very little current content of helena bertinelli or onyx adams or duke thomas

((you donât have to do both if you donât want to, you can consider this one a back up / alt))
âIf you donât know where to go, you can always come here.â đ
From this writing prompt list i reblogged in...november lmao fljdsjfa
anyway this grew legs and sprinted away the second I picked it up yesterday - clearly it just needed some time to proof lmao. Thank you for the ask, tauria!! From *checks watch* almost 5 months ago fjdslafjsa I will be cross-posting it to Ao3 in my new oneshot collection fic :)
Warnings for: Vague allusions that Ra's Al Ghul is a creep (what else is new), threats of gun violence, canon-typical violence
15. âIf you donât know where to go, you can always come here.â
When Tim arrived in Gotham this morning, he had no way of knowing that his day would end in Jason Toddâs bed.Â
Frankly, he wasnât really sure what bed heâd end up inâ because his own certainly wasnât an option right now. But If he had to pick, Jason Toddâs was somewhere near the bottom of whatever list heâd make.
He didnât exactly plan on this, okay?Â
But, uh. Letâs back up a little.
â
Tim knew his day was going to go to shit when he got back from the airport at 7 AM.
He had his driver drop him off two blocks away from his townhouse for the sake of caffeine at the hole in the wall place he likes. Wealthy CEO he may be, but a sixteen hour flight is still a sixteen hour flight and Tim is cursed with an inability to sleep in the air.Â
Donât ask. Heâs tried. It doesnât work.
So he wants coffee, and he wants a shower, and he wants his own bed. In that order.
With the first thing on his list acquired and blessedly burning his tongue, he managed to tug his brain cells together enough to realize that the building theyâd passed that had been shrouded in tents and canvas was his building.
"What's going on here?"
The worker outside his building looks up from her clipboard, her face wrinkling into apprehensive confusion.
"Hello, sir. Can I help you?â
He hasnât slept in roughly seventy two hours. He is not awake or patient enough for this.
âMy name is Tim Drake. I own this building. Whatâs going on here?â He repeats.
The woman raises her eyebrows and looks down at her clipboard again. âMr. Drake?â She questions, clearly expecting him to look like a grown-ass man and not a sleep-deprived college student coming home from spring break or whatever.
âYes. Timothy Drake-Wayne. Why are youââ he tries to gesture with the hand still holding his suitcase handle, walking towards the tarps and tents erected around his townhouse with increasing trepidation, ââhere?â
âIâm sorry sir, but you canât go in there. Not for at least forty-eight hours.â
Tim stops in his tracks.
âForty-eightâ?â
âWe've been scheduled to fumigate the property today.â She says it like sheâs reading it out of a handbook. âIt won't be safe to enter the building for at least forty-eight hours. You should have received prior notice. Uh. Sir.â
Tim's jet-lagged brain kicks into overdrive.Â
Bruce hasn't made any disappointed noises about Timâs perfectly normal work ethic lately so it probably wasn't a misguided attempt at benching him. And besides, rendering Timâs apartment inaccessible is counterproductive on that front.Â
Dick wouldnât. They havenât been exactlyâ great, lately but he wouldnât. Besides, if he wanted to get Tim out of the house more, heâd show up to drag Tim out into the daylight himself. This is a little too roundabout for him.
Itâs too much work to be Steph. She would think itâs funny, but thereâs no way sheâd follow through.
Damian might, but this doesnât quite fit his preferred methods for making Timâs life hell. It could be some cloak and dagger maneuver to leave him vulnerable, faking a complaint to the city so heâllâ
And then Tim thinks about the call.
The call heâd brushed off at fuck oâclock in the morning somewhere over Europe, too busy with another project. The call his secretary took for him instead. He thinks about the distracted confirmation heâd given to whatever it was sheâd asked him about five minutes later.Â
He also thinks about the form he signed about two weeks ago, before this last minute trip to Hong Kong had consumed his entire attention. The one with âTwo Weeks Noticeâ stamped across the top. His stomach sinks.
âToday,â he repeats.
She looks apologetic. âToday,â she confirms. âAnd we just started about an hour ago. Iâm very sorry, Mr. Drake-Wayne butââ
"No it'sâ" he says through gritted teeth, "fine. I'll just. Make other arrangements."
â
He does not make other arrangements. Though not for lack of trying.
Tim has a handful of safehouses scattered throughout the city. He has options. He gets a taxi to the closest neighborhood, and nearly falls asleep in the backseat. The cabby has to knock on the glass divider to get his attention when they come to a stop. He grumbles and hauls his suitcase out of the backseat, and tips the man excessively.
Shower. Bed. Sleep. Heâs so close he could cry.
Except when he finally rolls around the block, coffee half gone and trying to remember if this safehouse is the one with in-unit laundry or if heâll have to haul his shit down to the laundry room, his building is a blackened husk with police tape all around it.
He stops on the sidewalk. He peers up at the window of his unit, squinting at the peeling black wood and shattered glass. He ponders whether two is enough data points to be considered a pattern. And whether he could get away with napping in the alley on this street or if thatâll end with him stabbed and robbed.
As heâs pondering, he catches sight of a passerby and stops him.
ââScuse me,â he says apologetically. âWhat the hell happened here?â
The guy looks up from his phone and takes in his rumpled clothes, his suitcase, and the scorched remains of his apartment.
âOh, uh. Yeah, there was a big fire about a week back? Bad fire. Took out, like, half the block. Cops are saying itâs arson.â
âA week ago,â Tim repeats. The guyâs eyes widen.
âOh shit, bro, did you live here?â
âIâve been out of town,â he explains numbly.
âDude, that sucks. And right in the middle of conâ season. Good luck finding a hotel!â
âYeah,â Tim sighs as the guy walks away. âThanks.â
â
The next safehouse he tries isnât in much better shape.Â
He remembers hearing about Freeze going on a rampage a few days into his trip, but he hadnât realized another one of his places had been caught in the cross-fire. The cold burst the pipes, and now the whole place is undergoing renovation.
He hears all this from the crotchety old lady who lives in the next building over (her building needs renovation too, but will the city pay for it? Of course not, they werenât âdirectly impacted by disasterâ so they wonât see a penny of relief funds even though their pipes are on the same line. Typical) and when he finally extricates himself from the conversation, itâs almost noon, his second cup of coffee is long-since empty and heâs at the end of his goddamn rope.
By the time he sees his next safehouse, he isnât even surprised anymore.
âDoes God hate me?â He asks the boarded up building. âIs this a punishment? What did I do? What the fuck did I do?â
He is 99% sure at this point that someone is burning his bolt holes. Thereâs a short list of people with the resources and the intel to do it, and while heâs not above ruling out the likes of Damian just yet, he seriously doubts anyone wearing a bat is behind this.Â
Besides, Dick would have noticed by now if Damian were sinking this many resources into convoluted covert ops designed to make Tim suffer. Definitely. Probably.
Fuck it.
He goes around the back and hops on top of his suitcase to reach the clunky camera watching the back entrance. This building is on the shittier side, closer to Crime Alley than his other haunts; cameras break all the time around here. Heâll have it replaced after heâs a functional human again.
Reportedly, this building was tagged for âhigh toxicity levelsââ which is pretty typical for any building where fear toxin or Joker gas are found in any amount. They must have found a lot to condemn the whole building, but Tim is confident heâll be fine. The airborne shit dissipates to safe levels within hours depending on the ventilation. If it was in the air, itâs long gone. Anything else needs to be injected to be effective.
Once the cameraâs busted, he kicks out the boards and heads inside.
He drags his suitcase in after him, and mourns the shower he probably wonât be getting. The hall lights are out, and chances are the waterâs been shut off along with the electricity. But at this point, he simply does not give a shit. All he wants are four walls and a mattress.
Leaning on the door to his floor to make it open, he stumbles out into the hallwayâ
And catches sight of the glistening curved dagger stabbed into the wall next to his door, the hilt gleaming green in the sinking sun.
âNope,â Tim says, spinning on his heel and going back down the stairwell double time. âNope, nope, nope.â
He is now 100% certain that the League of Assassins has been burning his bolt holes. Raâs al fucking Ghul can eat his whole ass.
â
Seven blocks away, Tim sits on the sidewalk in front of a bodega and contemplates a third cup of coffee. The shittiest one yet.
See, hereâs the thing.
The thing is, he has options.
He could go to the Manor. Or the penthouse. Or to Stephâs place. Heâd have to answer some unnecessary questions like âMaster Timothy, you know you canât sleep on aircraft, why didnât you sleep before your flightâ or âTim, why didnât you come here first, you know you can still come to me if youâre in trouble, rightâ or âwhy did you agree to fumigate your fucking house, you loser, lmaoâ. (Stephanie is not going to let him live this down).Â
He is absolutely certain that he would be welcomed in any of these places and after a completely undeserved amount of fussing, he could take a fucking nap and someone else would deal with the League bullshit for him.
And thatâs the thing. Thereâs the rub.
No one should have to deal with the League bullshit for him. This is his problem. Heâs not in a hurry to bring them down on anyone. Not even Damian.
With grim resignation, he reaches for his phone to try and find a hotel room (during a conâ weekend apparently, RIP) and maybe get a fucking handle on this whole stupid thing, when he hears:
âHand over your wallet!â
He lifts his head slowly and finds himself looking down the barrel of a gun. A gun held by some guy wearing a ski mask in broad fucking daylight. Thereâs another guy next to him whoâs watching the street. Thereâs a third guy somewhere behind him who he canât see, but he can hear the scuff of his boots.
Sure. Why not. With the day heâs had, this might as well happen. He holds up his hands placatingly.
Tim contemplates his muggers. The guy with the gun is jittery, probably new to this, or hopped up on something. He keeps glancing between Tim and the bodega behind him, so they were probably planning a run on the till. Might have chickened out, or thought Tim was an easier target, an unexpected meal ticket plopped right in their path. Or they were already inside when Tim sat down, which wouldnât bode well for his situational awareness seeing as he just came out of there himself.
The grinding gears of his tired brain keep getting caught on the fact that this is happening in the middle of the fucking day. Tim glances at the street corner and bites his cheek in frustration. Yeah, heâs smack dab in the middle of the Alley. Figures.
âAre you deaf or somethinâ man?â The guy with the gun is saying. âHand over your fucking wallet!â
The other guy doesnât seem as crazy-eyed. Heâs nervous, though. He keeps looking around like heâs expecting Batman to materialize, to come whistling down the street like a beat cop.
âDude, come on, itâs not fucking worth it,â he says, grabbing at the gunmanâs shoulder. âWe got the money, letâs fucking go.â
The third guy kicks over Timâs suitcase. âYeah, come on, Don, letâs just grab this shit and bounce.â
Tim canât do anything. Heâs not Red Robin right now. Heâs Timothy Drake-Wayne, CEO of Wayne Enterprises, and heâs getting mugged in front of a bodega at two in the afternoon in a rumpled suit and tie and still toting his suitcase from his early morning flight.Â
His hands are trembling from unspent adrenaline, too much caffeine, and not enough sleep. His eyelids are the heaviest theyâve ever been in his godforsaken life. His ears are ringing. He could knock all three of them down in less time than it takes to tie his shoelaces. But he canât.
âShut up, Johnny, look at him shaking! Whatâs he gonna do? If he doesnât wanna get shot, rich boyâs gonna hand over all his fucking shit!â
âHey, letâs justââ Tim tries to say.
Stars explode across his vision as Tim takes a punch he genuinely wasnât expecting. He stares up at the blue sky for about half a second, more confused than anything else, before the gunman grabs him by the front of his shirt and hauls him up to shout in his face.
âWhatâs it gonna be, pretty boy?!â
Caught on the exhausted edge between vigilante training and the preservation of his identity, Tim is frozen. He doesnât know what to do. He kind of wants to cry.
âGee, Donny, what is it gonna be?â A fourth voice says, full of false cheer.
Tim blinks. So do the muggers.Â
He knows that voice.
âWho the fuckâ?â The gunman drops Tim, spinning around and into a fist. He tumbles down to the ground, out cold.
Everything happens pretty quickly after that.
Jason Todd is in civvies. Heâs sporting a worn out looking hoodie and a pair of jeans that have seen better days. But his heavy boots are the same ones he wears for his uniform, and the kick he delivers to Johnnyâs face is all Red Hood.
Almost in a daze, Tim watches him fight with the usual mix of seething envy and raw desire that rears its ugly head any time he gets to see Jason in action. Heâs fast, decisive. Efficient. Beautiful. Tim wishes he had Jasonâs skill. And he wishesâÂ
Well. He wishes a lot of things about Jason Todd.
Tim is pretty sure he and Jason are friends. Maybe. Probably. Theyâve pretty much moved past the whole âreplacementâ, âzombie-dickheadâ part of their relationship and have graduated to occasionally providing backup on ops that overlap in each otherâs sectors, ganging up on Dick when theyâre all in the same room, and maintaining a surprisingly steady stream of vigilante gossip to keep each other in the loop.Â
So, ok, yes, due to the aforementioned, heâs pretty sure theyâre friends. And also because Jason wouldnât have stuck his neck out for him otherwise. He would have just let him get mugged.
Watching Jason fight is one of Timâs favorite pastimes. But right now, Timâs usual appreciation is soured by the gut-roiling embarrassment of being caught in this position by Jason of all people. His eyes itch. His cheek throbs. Heâs so fucking tired.
âHey, little stalker,â Jason says suddenly, holding out an expectant hand in Timâs face. The muggers are groaning on the ground around them. Tim isnât sure when that happened. He might have zoned out. âDid you know that you had a stalker for a change?â
Tim flushes. âI resent that. I havenât stalked anyone in years.â He takes the hand. Itâs warm, and calloused, and big around his.
Jason laughs at him and yanks him to his feet. âLiar.â
Timâs mouth twists into a scowl. He tries to glare at Jason, but he can feel himself swaying and Jason still hasnât let go of him, and itâs ruining everything.
Also, lowkey, Jason is right. But in his defense, it is literally their job to stalk people, so.
âI havenât stalked you in years then. Just other guys. Bad guys. Not non-bad guys. Fuck. You know what I mean. Whatever.â He pauses; recalibrates. âHad?â He asks.
Jasonâs eyebrows inched higher and higher the longer Tim talked. Tim doesnât blame him.
âYeah. Had.âÂ
So much for the League, Tim muses.
Jason gives him a once over before tugging decisively on Timâs wrist, easily grabbing the handle of his suitcase and starting to walk with both in tow, to Timâs rising horror.Â
âYouâre coming with me, shortstack. Whatâs wrong with you? Are you drunk? You look like shit.â
Tim tries to yank his wrist out of Jasonâs grip, but the asshole doesnât budge. âIâm not drunk,â Tim snaps. âIâm fine. Iâm just. Iâm just⌠really tired.â
Jason stops abruptly, and Tim stumbles into his shoulder.
âI can see that,â he says, steadying Tim with an amused but ultimately sympathetic look. He loads Timâs suitcase onto the back of a motorcycle that Tim literally just now noticed.Â
God, heâs fucked. And not even in a fun way.Â
âCâmon,â Jason says. âDonât fall asleep on the way overâ road rash sucks ass.â
â
They donât talk on the way toâ wherever Jason is taking them, but once theyâre parked in a random garage and walking towards the elevators, the game of twenty questions begins.
âSo whyâve you got League assassins after you, anyway? Piss in a lazarus pit? Push over the baby brat on the playground?â
âRaâs al Ghul wants my body,â Tim says, dejected but resigned to this bizarre fact of his life. âSince I was seventeen, Iâm pretty sure.â
Jason wrinkles his nose. âEw.â
âI donât think itâs a sex thing? But it could also be a sex thing.â
âAgain. Fucking ew.â
âYeah. Also I blew up a bunch of his shit and I think heâs still salty I got away with it.â
âIs that why you werenât at the Manor?â Jason asks, herding Tim out of the elevator and down a long hallway. âOr anywhere but a random street in Crime Alley?â
Tim nods. âYeah. They found all my safehouses, butâ my mess. My problem.â
Jason thwacks him upside the head.
âOw! What the fuck?â
âYouâre the dumbest person on the planet.â
âAm not. B is on-planet right now.â
âThen youâre pretty fucking close,â Jason snarks, fishing out some keys and opening one of the apartment doors.
Tim scoffs at him as heâs pushed inside. âOh, please. Donât try to tell me you would let Dick swoop in and solve all your problems for you.â
Jason rolls his eyes, stepping into the side kitchen and popping open the freezer door of the fridge.
âDickiebird canât even solve his own problems,â he says as he rummages. âBut maybe when Iâm fucked up enough to let three nobodies robbing a fucking bodega get the jump on me, thatâs a sign that, maybe, it might be time to call in the cavalry. Dick isnât the only person whoâs got your back.â He presses an ice pack to Timâs face until he takes it himself, and keeps steering him through the apartment. âJust saying.â
Tim would protest with all of his very good reasons why Jason is definitely wrong here, but heâs too busy processing the fact that Jason has led him into a bedroom. With a bed. Thereâs a bed, with a mattress and pillows and blankets. Right there. Tim stares at it with lustful eyes.
Jason catches him staring. He rolls his eyes, but heâs sporting a small smile that Tim has the presence of mind to memorize. He walks over to a dresser and pulls out a big shirt and a pair of shorts that he hands to Tim.
âLook. If you donât know where to go, you can always come here. No guarantees Iâll be always around, but, yeah. Mi casa es su casa, or whatever.â
Tim eyes him up, clutching the bundle of Jason-smelling fabric in his hands. âAnd youâd do that for me becauseâŚwhy, exactly?â
Jason flicks his forehead, a stinging reprimand. Tim hisses.
âBecause, dumbass, you need help and I feel like it. And you donât actually suck to be around, so shut up and be grateful.â
âOh, yes,â Tim deadpans, rubbing at his forehead. âSo grateful to be allowed the privilege of squatting with you.â
The thing of it is, Tim is grateful. But Jason doesnât need to know that.
Jason squawks, and before Tim can duck, heâs snatched Tim around the neck in a headlock. His arm is thick and doesnât budge no matter how Tim shoves and kicks. The ice pack and the clothes go flying, and Tim just about dies. Jason is warm.
âJasonâ!â
âBrat!â Jason crows, not giving an inch. âI paid for this place fair and squareâ youâre the only squatter here!â
âBlood money doesnât count as square!â
âTell that to half of Gotham, kid.â
âIâm trying to, thanks for noticing,â Tim says, finally wrenching himself free of Jasonâs grip, stumbling into the bed and giving into its siren song. He sits down heavily on the edge, toppling over sideways and reaching pathetically for the fallen ice pack thatâs just out of his reach.
âAnd donât call me kidââ he complains, muffled by the pillow. It also smells like Jason. âYouâre barely two years older than me.â
The cold ice pack is pressed into his fingers. He cracks an eye open to look, but Jason is just smirking at him, like heâs giving Tim the win. Ass.
âCoulda fooled me, shortstack.â
Tim rolls his eyes, and onto his back, toeing off his shoes and letting them clatter to the floor. He canât tell if Jasonâs bed is the best bed in the world, or if heâs just deliriously inventing things.
Frankly, Jason Toddâs bed is the last place he ever thought heâd end up, this morning or otherwise, so heâs never bothered to speculate. He does not have a contingency plan for this.
âIs there a reason you keep calling me short,â he complains, âOr will I just need to fill in the blanks myself?â
âCanât help it. Youâre just so small,â Jason coos. Tim props himself up on an elbow at that, raising a disgusted eyebrow.
âYou donât hear me constantly talking about how big you are.âÂ
Jason grins like he just won the lottery; Tim shuts his eyes the second itâs out of his mouth.
âBaby, you donât know how big I am.â
He does, actually. Not in a creepy stalker way, justâ there was this one time. A big rogue breakout at Arkham, all-hands on deck type of situation; Tim, Cass, and Jason were covering Poison Ivy in the park. Acid-spitting pitcher plants were involved.
And look, Jasonâs tactical gear is fine in the day to day, but itâs not like any of them had time to prep a neutralizing agent, so when Jason needed his pants off, statâŚuh. Well. Tim was right there.
He knows, okay?
âAlright,â he rallies, trying desperately not to replay the memory of Jason adjusting himself through his boxers. All of himself. âI walked right into that one.â
âOh, trust me. Youâll know if youâve walked into it.â
Tim scoffs, but he can feel how red his face is.
And the thing is. He says it without really meaning to.Â
But he still means it.
âYou gonna put your money where your mouth is, big guy?â
The change is immediate. Jason had been halfway out the door, but now he turns to Tim, giving him his full, undivided attention. He looks at Tim, laid out in Jason's bed, giving him a very slow once over. The scrutiny is at once nerve-wracking and thrilling.
âThought you didnât want my money,â Jason murmurs.
The temperature in the room spikes. If it werenât for the slow throb of his bruised cheek, Tim would think that heâs already asleep and dreaming.
But he isnât. Heâs very much aware that heâs wide awake.
Tim swallows. âWell. Itâs not your money I want.â
Jasonâs grin is electric.Â
He stalks over to the bed, and Tim is frozen like a rabbit, waiting to see what heâll do next. Jason settles a knee on the sheets between Timâs legs, looming over Tim and boxing him in against the mattress. Timâs free hand reaches up of its own accord to tangle in the collar of Jasonâs hoodie, and the cotton is softer than he expected.
Jasonâs eyes rove over his face, dark and heavy. He catches Timâs face in his hand, swiping his thumb lightly across the bruising hot ache of his cheekbone. He leans in deliberate and slow andâ
âand stops about an inch away from Timâs mouth.
âGet some sleep, babybird,â Jason teases, his breath puffing gently over the skin of Timâs lips. âYou can proposition me again tomorrow.â
âItâs, like, 3:30 in the afternoon,â Tim argues, breathless.
âYeah, and your body thinks itâs 3:30 in the morning. Youâre dead on your feet. Donât make promises you canât keep, and go the fuck to sleep.â
Jason moves to rise. But Tim hooks a stubborn arm around his neck and pulls him down that last remaining inch.Â
The kiss isâ bad. At first.Â
Tim basically smashed their mouths together to prove a point, and Jason muffles a surprised sound against Timâs teeth. He lands heavily on top of Tim at an awkward angle, and heâs kind of crushing him. Tim refuses to let go, butâ Jason doesnât pull away.
Jason gentles the kiss instead, and Tim thrills. He levers himself up onto his elbow, wrapping an anchoring arm around Timâs back. He finds a home between Timâs legs, and he lets Tim kiss him until Tim's lips are tingling and his fingers go slack; until he canât keep his eyes open anymore.
Somewhere between fifteen minutes and a small eternity later, Jason presses one more kiss to the corner of his mouth. He curls around Tim on his side, and Tim turns his face into Jasonâs neck with a soft wondering sigh.
âIâll keep it. Promise. Wait nâ see,â Tim mumbles. Jason snorts, but doesnât budge, and Tim can hear his smile in his voice, lilted and lulling.
âSure, babybird. Iâll wait. I got nowhere else to be.â
Tim is already asleep.

i nearly anon'd the thorki non-con fic out of SHAME but in two weeks it's become my third most clicked-on fic of the year, behind only a multichapter fic and a bit of angsty sifki porn lololol
#this is about 560 hits btw which i know is not much for bigger fandoms and it's just that i tend to be in some weird niche but gosh!#i'd written thorki before but it wasn't e-rated so if the non-con tag really did work against it then wow no wonder ppl write this pairing!#you ever been to reddit where someone posts about how their latest fic only got 20k hits in a week and you're like âWTFâ?#and it turns out they're in some hugely popular fandom and that's the least read fic for that pairing on the entire site by a mile.#that's like glimpsing a parallel universe. what a strange place. why would any fic ever have more than 1000 hits omg!#and 1000 would be for if you wrote something Surprisingly Popular. like e-rated thorki non-con apparently is.#meanwhile 'cockroboros' may only have 35 hits but every one of those 35 people agrees that i was right to write that thing!!#and me and the other 86 people who wanted to see missy interact with jamie moriarty are besties now <3#SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I TURN THE NUMBERS BACK ON OH NOOOOOO THIS WAY LIES MADNESS!!!#the sifki one had a bump recently which i must assume came from one of those 'recced it in a discord but never said a word' incidents.#those are increasingly common and i hope i am not alone in finding them ever so slightly creepy#if you're going to look at me you need to at least pat me on the head to cancel out the anxiety of that damn it!#*flashes back to when i hid that one ten'n'donna fic because nobody would tell me where all the readers were coming from*#fic related#anyway i think it's important to mention i wrote thorki non-con fic in case anyone following me thinks i am Unproblematic in some way.

Does En have some kind of anxiety disorder? How do you think?
I don't think so. I think he's just faint at heart. I already talked about why he's a product of his time, quick to always run when faced with danger. Rather than anxiety, it's just survival instincts with En
The post in question
He doesn't panic until his life itself is threatened. He let Midoriya run around and do his thing, and whenever he appears as a vestige to advise Midoriya, he's not anxious or anything. He's just telling Midoriya his own limits, which is pretty in-line with how En views himself: he always talks about his limitations as a weak Quirk.
It was just facing AFO and the threat of being stolen we see him lose his cool. AFO probably sparks some bad memories and trauma in En, considering he just turned to run and got sawed in half by the guy that killed his Banjo-senpai (who some vestiges openly admit has a great, really useful Quirk).
If AFO could get Banjo, he could definitely get En, who's weaker than Banjo in. Everything really. Mind, Quirk capability, physical strength, etc.
To reiterate something in the first paragraph: it's not anxiety, it's survival. En's behavior is more like a prey animal than a predator. Even Banjo, when pressed against a wall (they can be stolen), panics.
But other than that, the two are pretty composed and view their Abilities as tools in their arsenal. Banjo views his as good for capture and mobility (both moving around and wrapping himself up), and En uses it to obscure vision and thinks about the cover's use.
Notably, Shinomori didn't panic when he saw AFO's looming hand. The only ones to freak out that AFO could reach them were Banjo and En, two city boys from when society was still ruined and trying to collect itself. The only two active wielders AFO managed to get his hand on to steal OFA. The others aren't as panicked.
#tbh anon i think ur the same guy in my asks that wants character analyses for shinomori banjo and en#but then u saw i dont like requests and are now asking my thoughts separately rather than ask for a post#but its anonymous so i have no real eay of knowing but. its my guess. u could be some random other guy#but asks that conveniently ask for shinomori banjo and en in succession after that request ask? I'm so excited, I've hit 30k on my fic đ
I've shared a very small amount of it on here already, but! Here's the deets!
It's an AU based on a YA book trilogy called Delirium. It's a dystopian romance based in a time in the future when love is viewed as a disease and when kids turn 18 they are "cured" with a minor brain procedure.
Mulder & Scully are in their late 30s annnnd the rest is currently between me and the Google doc âşď¸
#delirium au#It was my dream to write this au in my prev fandom and i wrote quite a lot#i kept it in the YA genre for that fic but now M&S are older and idk it's just flowed from my fingers#anyway I feel a bit self conscious writing an au because my prev fandom almost every fic was au not canon compliant#and it seems to be the opposite way round here#butttttt anyway I'm so excited#I'm gonna work on finishing it then hopefully letting it sit for a bit#I usually rush my fics through the editing and betaing process but i really really want to get this one right

can someone please write this doropetra fashion designer/journalist modern au for me. i spent too long thinking about the devil wears prada today and now i have all the beats mapped out for this story i Do Not have enough time in the world to write.
please help. please. i'll give you everything. all of it. it's all right here. take it. mention me if you swap the names to sell the movie or streaming rights. i just want it to exist.
pitch: dorothea is a hot-nasty fashion mogul and petra is a journalist-turned-reluctant model who captures dorothea's attention (and her heart).
btw this is a Really long post so look out. also i know nothing about the fashion industry and Will Not Learn so don't tell me anything.
setting: various major cities in the USA. NYC, LA, Enbarr (you know, Enbarr, that major city somewhere between florida and texas. we've all been there).
cast
most everybody is in their mid-to-late 20s at the start.
petra: the last journalist with integrity in a world that's actively trying to eliminate journalism as a field. worked her ass off writing listicles and bullshit SEO articles for years until she caught a break and got in with a "Real Publication." she now works her ass off there. unfortunately there's rumors of her team getting laid off due to AI crap so she's stressed af trying to line up her next gig, just in case.
dorothea: hotshot young fashion mogul with a cult of personality around her. was a complete unknown barely out of college when she designed manuela casagranda's absolutely breathtaking met gala dress and her company blew up overnight. now does high-profile lines that are popular with movie star types and bougie social media influencers. notorious for being very, very friendly with her preferred models.
edelgard: petra's finance major/arts minor friend from college and her former roommate. nepo baby with Lots of connections. got petra her first big job writing PR crap for a division of the hresvelg business empire. caused a scandal by getting romantically involved with her TA (byleth) in grad school but they're still together. complains about her PA (hubert) and her lout of a stepbrother (dimitri), both of whom she's constantly texting or otherwise having to corral.
shamir: petra's boss/editor. admires petra's guts and her writing chops, as well as her ambition. somewhat of a mentor to petra, but is absolutely no-nonsense when it comes to work. she's been in this business a long time. there's no fucking around. leonie is another journo on the team. ignatz and linhardt also work with them doing layouts, formatting, and photo/video editing.
manuela: a famous singer from dorothea's hometown who basically adopted dorothea as a protĂŠgĂŠ after dorothea sent her sketches of designs she'd made. essentially responsible for dorothea's career. they have a bit of a contentious relationship these days as manuela's a bit jealous of dorothea's rising star and because dorothea's been ungrateful in recent years despite how much manuela's stuck her neck out for her. still, she's always there to give dorothea terrible advice when she needs it. her evolving relationship with dorothea is kind of a b-plot.
bernadetta: a reclusive, but well-connected social justice blogger and internet activist. one of petra's good buddies who regularly sends her scoops.
ingrid, ferdinand, sylvain, catherine, felix: models who commonly work with dorothea.
Jeritza: a nobody fashion photographer who thinks he's somebody. he's absolutely awful.
claude and hilda: paparazzi who work for tmz, buzzfeed, whoever will take em. petra thinks they are the scum of the earth. they are.
act 1
we open with petra on yet another bullshit assignment for her crappy job writing articles about things that don't matter. this one is a profile piece about a local fashion photographer, the mononymous Jeritza, who might be somebody someday and seems to think he already is. leonie was supposed to do the article but she flubbed it by offending Jeritza, who now won't give her the time of day, so shamir asks petra to please step in last-minute. petra's mad, but she gets her hustle on and goes anyway. it's not like she can be too picky with gigs in this economy.
by the time she gets to the shoot, she's late, and Jeritza is throwing a tantrum. the model isn't working out. Jeritza cannot work in these conditions. Jeritza fires the model and is about to freak the fuck out when petra walks in the door. oh, Jeritza says. i can work with you. petra did NOT sign up to be a model, has never wanted to be a model, has no interest in this whatsoever. but let's be real: it is a great angle for the piece. this could get clicks. shares, even. so she does it.
the shoot is a massive success, which is to say Jeritza is delighted with the results, but as it's just for a local streetwear company, the impact on culture is negligible. petra writes her article, which gets some attention due to the very funny portrait it paints of the histrionic artiste that is Jeritza. it's not much buzz, but it's just enough buzz to get shared around in fashion circlesâenough for it to wind up in dorothea's inbox, courtesy of manuela. "Thought of you!! XD XD This is so funny!!" manuela writes. dorothea replies "lol" and is about to move on with her day when she decides to give the article a courtesy skim and scrolls down far enough to see the pictures.
oh. who is that model?
a few days later, petra's out at a bar getting drinks with edelgard and bitching about life when she gets a call from an unknown number. she figures it's probably spam, but they leave a voicemail. the transcription mentions it's from a dorothea arnault, whoever that is. edelgard almost shits a brick. DOROTHEA ARNAULT? you need to call her back. right now. petra's like okay jeez, i will. what's the big deal. edelgard facepalms. she forgot that petra doesn't follow fashion even a little bit ("isn't the gucci, like, the area between your butthole and yourâ?" "no petra it is not"). embarrassing for her, but there's no saving some people.
edelgard briefs her on the arnault situation. dorothea's studio is huge right now. edelgard's family business has been sponsoring some of her recent fashion shows and everybody who's anybody is trying to get an arnault outfit for their next event. while dorothea's very popular on social media, she's very tight-lipped about her private life. a profile on her could be a huge break for petra.
okay, petra thinks, what the fuck, okay. i'll call her back.
dorothea picks up on the fifth ring. uh-oh: she sounds hot.
hel-looo, miss macneary, she says, it's nice of you to pick up the phone. i saw that little article you wrote recently. you're sooooo funny. [her voice is sweet and smooth like butter. she sounds like she's twirling her hair as she talks. she doesn't say how she got petra's number. petra doesn't think to ask.] and those photos of you... my, my. you're quite the looker, aren't you? and you don't even model professionally? that's a terrible shame. you'd do well, you know. i'm in berlin right now but i'll be in enbarr's fashion district on tuesday afternoon. why don't you come by the studio? we're doing a shoot for some designs i'm releasing soon... a secret summer collection. oops, i shouldn't have told you about that, should i? well, i'm sure i can trust you to keep my secret. and maybe i could even trust you to write something nice about me? i think they'd suit you, you know, these new pieces i've got. if you have any interest in trying your hand at modeling again, i'd love to see you in them. 11 o'clock. ciao!
petra gets a handful of words in edgewise. most of them are yes. she keeps her phone held to her ear for too long after dorothea hangs up. she wishes she'd been sober for this conversation. she's not really sure what she just agreed to. she doesn't want to forget the sound of that voice.
she shoots a text to shamir. edelgard buys her a shot the instant she steps back into the bar.
tuesday comes and petra's nervous. she packed and repacked for this. checked twenty-five times that she brought her tape recorder and her good camera. arnault is gonna think that camera's a joke, but it is what it is. she's trying to play it cool, hyping herself up the whole time she's on the train. it's gonna be fine. just keep the tape rolling. write the profile. she doesn't have to model, she can just do what she does best. listen. pay attention. write honestly. move on.
sure.
if petra thought dorothea sounded hot, she's wholly unprepared for how hot she is in person. she's spellbinding. drop-dead gorgeous. positively unreal. and on top of that, she's so charming. she's graceful. smart. funny. flirty. and she keeps touching herâlittle touches on her hand, her arm. chaste things. friendly things. things that could be accidents.
she's exactly petra's type.
but petra is a journalist with integrity, dammit. she's going to be professional. and to her credit, she is professional. arnault makes it hard, but she manages. she blends in, listens, stays focused, stays out of the way. the model's cuteâingrid something-or-other. she can't remember but she got it on the tape recorder. told petra her instagram handle like six times, too, so she won't have any trouble finding her. the shoot is almost wrapped when dorothea asks if petra would be interested in modeling for her. she's not at all offended when petra politely declines. she poses when petra asks to take her photo for the profile. thanks her for coming out and talking to her. says goodbye with a polite handshake and that dazzling smile. she thinks about that smile and that touch throughout the whole train ride home.
skip ahead to friday. petra is working on the story and transcribing the audio recording when she gets a text from dorothea. so lovely meeting you on tuesday [heart emoji] [kiss emoji] [heart emoji] i know it's last minute, but the final pieces of the summer collection are coming in tomorrow and i think you'll like them for your profile. i'll fly you up tomorrow morning to meet me at my studio in manhattan, unless you're busy, of course~
petra is not busy tomorrow. shamir is considering opening a new style division of their publication.
the flight is the train ride but worse. keep the tape rolling, macneary. listen. pay attention. write honestly. move on.
she's resolute. committed. her resolve doesn't waver even when she gets off the plane, ready to call an uber, and there's a guy in a suit with a sign that says MACNEARY on it. it doesn't waver when the guy stops her and says no, he's not looking for another macneary, he's here for her, courtesy of ms. arnault. it doesn't waver throughout the rideâthe chauffeured ride, in a fancy car, just her and the guyâfrom jfk through the streets of nyc, seeing the skyline she's only ever known from movies and on tv. it doesn't waver when she's escorted into a skyscraper in the garment district and guided up to the floor where ms. arnault is waiting for her.
it wavers when she sees her. when dorothea says her model couldn't make it that day and she could really, really use petra's help, it falls completely.
you can guess how the rest of that trip goes. petra barely remembers it herself. she gets back home to enbarr, trying to recover from the whirlwind week she's had by doing what she does bestâworking. she can scarcely believe any of it was real. she has to believe it when she gets back to her shithole apartment, sets to the task of transcribing the audio from her tape recorder, and realizes it was rolling the whole time.
the whole time.
and there's absolutely no denying any of it after dorothea sends her the photos for her review.
you look so good in these, she tells petra when she sends her the first photoset. i think you look better out of them, she says when she sends the second.
petra considers her options. considers freaking out. considers not replying. considers moving to australia. she considers and reconsiders and does none of those things.
what she does do is send dorothea the audio recording. dorothea sends her some photos of her own.
they meet up again in LA on the day the profile drops.
act 2
if that first week was a whirlwind, the summer is a hurricane. petra's being lauded for the quality of her profile on dorothea, as well as for being the only member of the press who can get close to ms. arnault. it's borderline scandalous, how she's also modeling the summer line despite not even being a real model. it's a thinly-guised affairâalmost completely un-guised when their flirting gets a little too overt during a show in tokyo. who cares. petra's entranced. dorothea takes her everywhere, her personal reporter, lavishing her with gifts, showing her the world. she's keeping her busy between all this travel and all this passion. they go to show after show, shoot after shoot; petra works her ass off, keeping the tape rolling, listening, paying attention. so what if she doesn't have time to answer shamir's texts right away the way she normally would. the website's getting more traffic than it ever has, carried by petra's inside scoop on the world of dorothea arnault. shamir can cut her a break.
and she's surprised by how much she likes dorothea. how much she likes spending time with her. dorothea's all the things petra thought she was: glamorous, bubbly, charismatic. but she's also so brilliant, so hard-working, busting her ass every single day of her life. and she's sweet, too. she lavishes petra with attention, gives her all kinds of little gifts and thingsânothing too expensive as to make petra uncomfortable (the jetsetting is bad enough as-is), but small, practical things she actually likes and could use. she asks petra about herself almost as often as petra asks questions about her. it's not petra's job to talk beyond getting the conversation flowing, to put more of herself into the discussion than there needs to be to get dorothea to open up. she's here to listen. to pay attention. write honestly and move on.
but she's finding she doesn't really want to move on.
one night they're hanging out in dorothea's fancy hotel room eating room service and drinking wine when dorothea makes a crack about how little petra knows about fashion. petra admits that she really didn't intend to get into it, that it just kind of happened. that what she really wants to do is investigative work, writing about events, exposing corruption, that sort of thing. no offense to dorothea! it's been fun doing this, don't get her wrong, but she's got goals, other things she wants to doâonce dorothea gets tired of her, she jokes. sort of jokes. dorothea laughs. she smiles at her and asks why she wanted to be a journalist.
and petra's honest again. honest like she hasn't been before. she tells her a little about her childhood, her family life. about growing up in brigid (you know, the country on planet earth) and moving to enbarr as a teenager after her father died. seeing her super-smart, brilliant mother and grandfather go from these auspicious jobs in their home country to shitty ones that just barely pay the bills here, all in the name of long-term security. how they taught her to work hard and always act with integrity, no matter what she's doing. she tells her about the struggles of learning a new language, how it made her become a good listener, how she fell in love with writing because it gives her time to think about her words, to express herself the way she wants to. she wanted to be a journalist to speak for those who can't raise their voices loud enough on their own.
dorothea smiles at her the whole time she's talking. petra's not used to being on this side of the table, to being listened to like this. she almost doesn't know how to handle it; she's apologizing, feeling embarrassed for having said so much, but dorothea says don't be sorry. that's beautiful. she's lucky to have such wonderful people in her life who love her and support her. and she likes hearing petra talk.
things are different after that night.
act 3
the start of the Drama Arc. the summer's coming to an end. petra and dorothea are still spending so much time together, jetsetting around the world. petra's working on a piece that's a backstage look at the arnault company's leadup to milan fashion week. the stress is getting Real and the cracks are starting to show. petra's missing deadlines, blowing off shamir, blowing off edelgard, blowing off her family. she's barely in enbarr these days, jetlagged to hell, lost between time zones. her pal bernadetta reaches out and says hey, there's something Big i'm working on that i could use help digging into, can you give me a hand? petra says sure, i'll take a look. she doesn't. she forgets somewhere between london and sĂŁo paolo.
things are still hot between her and dorothea, but she's starting to see the cracks in her, too. she's getting to see more of her, more of what lies beneath all that glam and bubbly personableness. you don't go from being a nobody to a mogul in your 20s by being nice, and what petra slowly discovers is that dorothea isn't just not nice, she is ruthless. she's nonstop, working her ass off, and anyone who can't keep up with her gets left behind. she hints at her past sometimes: at her shitty childhood, at growing up in poverty, at being orphaned, at having spent years in foster care. but she never opens up. she's 100% focused on the future, and it's all she wants to talk about. dorothea wants to live her dreams, yes, but more importantly, her goal is self-preservation.
petra finds this out when they're at a shoot one day. petra's off to the side, fucking with her piece of shit camera when who storms up to her but ingrid, and she's pissed as shit. she chews petra out. calls her an asshole. says she stole her job. asks what the fuck is wrong with her, doing that while posting her articles, publicly announcing to the world that she never even wanted to be a model. petra's floored. she doesn't even know what she's talking about. she asks ingrid to start over.
that "second date" of theirs in manhattan, way back when? turns out dorothea was telling the truth when she said her model couldn't make it that day. ingrid was supposed to be modeling. she was dorothea's #1 for ages. she'd just come off back-to-back-to-back shoots when she got sick, really sick. stuck-in-shanghai-and-probably-not-going-to-be-able-to-board-a-flight-to-manhattan-tomorrow sick. she told dorothea so, said she'd try her best. dorothea said not to bother and didn't call her again.
it'll happen to you, too, ingrid tells petra, once you aren't useful to her. you're giving her all this press now, but if you ever do anything else, she'll drop you like she drops everyone else.
ingrid storms off, leaving petra standing there, holding her stupid camera. she looks at dorothea, standing across the room, running the show, correcting this and that, getting everything perfect, exactly the way she wants it. petra looks at her and wonders. wonders what would happen if she wrote something dorothea didn't like. if somebody new caught her eye.
they get dinner that night and it's tense. dorothea's stressed. she's carrying on about this and that, talking about the shoot, texting and responding to emails, slamming back glass after glass of wine. petra's quiet, letting her talk. too quiet, apparently, because dorothea eventually takes her head out of her phone and asks her what's up. nothing, petra says, just thinking about everything going on, about the shoot today. dorothea rolls her eyes. i know, she says; on top of everything else, ingrid was there, and she wanted to have a whole conversation with me, like i wasn't busy and like she didn't fuck me over the last time i saw her. she texted me earlier, too. the audacity of this bitch, she gripes, going back into her phone, still mad. a little later into dinner, manuela calls and dorothea answers it; she's bubbly and sweet, all hi how are you omg it's been so long, i miss you, sorry i've just been so busy~ i've gotta go but we'll catch up soon. she hangs up and shoots petra a look. she's so needy, dorothea says, laughing. petra tries to laugh too and can't quite manage.
they're still going everywhere together in the leadup to milan fashion week, and petra's still working on the piece, but she's feeling a little gross and she's quieter than ever. she lets herself believe that maybe it's fine, maybe it's okay, maybe she's not really that cold and ruthless. but then dorothea shows her one day.
everything's been going wrong: there's equipment stuck in customs, marketing materials haven't been delivered from the printers yet, the studio they rented for pre-shoots is double-booked. then a model's late to the shoot and another one is complaining and dorothea is done, so done. she fires them on the spot, gets on the phone and calls two new ones who will get the job done and done without question. petra's quiet. listening. paying attention. keeping the tape rolling as dorothea justifies herself aloud, without prompting. don't judge me, she says. i do what i have to do, and everyone else should, too. i know no one is going to take care of me. i've got no reason to take care of anyone else.
she's a mess all night. angry. stressed. shutting herself off. petra's seen her get like this a few times, but this is the worst it's ever been. she's in her phone all night. practically snaps at petra when she asks if she can help her with anything. shrugs away from petra's touch.
they go to bed and petra barely sleeps. she just lies awake, thinking. thinking about dorothea. thinking about herself. thinking about how she's been blowing off her friends, her family, her boss. thinking about how swept up she's been in all this crazy stuff she doesn't even really care about, putting off her own career. feeling guilty about ingrid. feeling guilty about blowing off shamir and bernadetta. worrying about who she's become around this woman. wondering what happened to her integrity.
fashion week goes great. flawlessly. petra heads back to enbarr afterward. she's almost ready to publish her piece, but she's gotta make up with shamir first. she apologizes. says she's so sorry. sorry for blowing her off. sorry she missed her deadlines. shamir is pretty fucking done with her and has told her as much already, but petra's earnest, and her piece is ready, and she wants to give the girl one more shot. she tells petra alright, i'll forgive you, but i need this piece tonight or we're done. i can't keep waiting on you and your schedule.
okay, petra says, you'll have it tonight.
she's worried. nervous. there's so much on her mind. the piece is ready but it's not going to make dorothea happy. she wants to call her first. she tries and gets her voicemail. tries again. nothing. texts her instead, a few times. hey, she writes, i need to talk to you. call me when you get the chance. it's about the profile. it's important. i'm on a deadline.
nothing. the hours are ticking by. she calls her. texts her. it's really important, dorothea. i need you to talk to me. please.
nothing.
petra's left wondering. wondering what to do. whether she should hit send on this email or hold off. wondering what she wants out of this.
and what is this, anyway? a summer fling? are they dating? girlfriends? they've never put a name on anything. do they have a future? can petra even think about building a future with someone she doesnât trust to keep her along if she ever should need help? maybe dorotheaâs hot and smart and maybe sheâs got incredible drive but if she doesn't share petra's values, if sheâs not going to be able to live for more than herself, and be true to herself, can petra accept that? does dorothea even know herself well enough to be able to be authentic?
time runs out and petra sends her piece to shamir. dorothea leaves her on read.
the piece is published. it's a huge hit, and not just in fashion circles, because it's a perfect portrait of dorothea arnault, and who doesn't love a biography of a wunderkind. it's honest. it's real. it talks about everything: her light, her darkness, the ups and the downs of being with her. it's raw. personal. revealing. it's all her brilliance and all her evils, captured in the way only someone who really loves her could do.
when it drops, petra expects dorothea to call and rip her a new one. she doesn't expect her not to call at all. but dorothea's radio silent. a few days later, some dickhead paparazzi petra has the misfortune of knowing (hilda and claude) send her a picture of dorothea in LA, running around with some red-headed douche (ferdinand).
sorry, dorothea texts her eventually. i've been soooo busy. i've missed you, but we'll catch up soon.
sure, petra writes, knowing they won't. i'll see you soon, she writes, knowing it's goodbye.
act 4
petra goes back to her career. back to her friends. crashes on edelgard's couch for a while. spends time with her family. starts addressing the connections she fucked up, fixing things with shamir, trying to gain momentum again. despite the profile on dorothea being such a success, it takes a long time for her to get back on her feet. but it's okay, 'cause if she's busy, she doesn't have to think about her.
months go by. every couple of nights, dorothea drafts a text to petra and deletes it.
it's february now, which means new york fashion week is here, and although petra is branching into investigative stuff nowadays, shamir calls in a favor and asks her to help cover it. petra knows she might see dorothea there. knows itâs a risk. decides sheâs gonna be so strong and brave, and she canât really afford to pass it up anyway because itâs a big career opportunity, a chance to revisit fashion after her profile last year. so she goes.
and they see each other. and nothing happens. they don't even say hello.
but that night, when petraâs in her hotel room, spiraling, dorothea calls her. she's in a hotel up the street. she asks petra to come over. for all her sense, her morals, her logic, petra is no more than a lesbian, so she says yes.
they don't talk. they jump right to making out sloppy style and fucking nasty and holy shit, itâs just like it was when they first met: hot and intense and so good, so perfect. except itâs not, itâs not, because this isnât going to work out no matter how much they want it to, and they both know it. they get into a big fight after dorothea makes a crack about the profile and petra loses it. she puts dorothea on blast for being such a piece of work, saying she canât ever be with her no matter how much she wants to because dorothea won't ever put someone else first and sheâll never figure out how to be anything other than alone.
then petra drops another bomb. over the past few months, she's made up with bernadetta, and it turns out that the big scoop bernie uncovered is about exploitative business practices a certain scummy fashion company engages in. a certain scummy company that dorothea's company is partnered with. said company's dealings wouldn't get their business partners in legal trouble, but public perception would certainly change. she's been working on an exposĂŠ about it. she's going to release it soon. really really soon. like as soon as she gets back to enbarr.
dorothea looks like she's been hit by a truck. she begs petra not to release the story about the company. itâs going to fuck her brand. she'll be ruined. she offers petra whatever she wants. gets nasty, even, defensive. then she fucking breaks. she doesnât fully open up, but itâs the closest sheâs ever come to doing it. she says she's sorry, sorry for hurting her, sorry for shutting her out, sorry she cut and ran like she always does when she might catch feels, when she might be vulnerable for once. she says she's sorry and she asks her please, please, not to release the story.
petra doesnât give her an answer. she just goes back to her hotel.
once she gets back, she doesn't sleep. she stews for ages, pacing, going back and forth, trying to figure out what to do. act with integrity and drop the story as-is. donât drop the story and protect the person she cares about, in spite of herself. amend the story so maybe dorothea wonât catch heat...? no, that wouldnât be acting with integrity either. she canât win either way.
and dorotheaâs having a think, too, which is to say sheâs a fucking WRECK. realizing how bad sheâs fucked up her life. realizing that petra liked her for her. wanted to get to know her for more than her name and her money and her connections. told her things about herself she didnât even realize were true. and she hurt her at every single turn. for the first time in her life, she had a chance at something real with a good person who really loved her and she fucking blew it. thereâs so much dissonance as she tries to defend her own actions to herself and canât because petraâs wormed her way into her head, the only person who ever Really questioned her, the only person who ever made her question.
she's always figured things out alone. she's always had to figure things out alone. this time, though, dorothea's not sure she can handle it. so she does the only thing she can think to do: she goes to manuela with her tail between her legs. manuela's a little pissy at first as dorothea's been blowing her off for a while now, but she's also worried, because dorothea has never come to her like this. not once. and she's offered for her to, a lot.
when manuela hugs her, dorothea breaks. she ugly-cries into manuela's arms. tells her how bad she's fucked up. how much she hates herself. how sorry she is for being a dickhead when manuela's only ever wanted to be there for her. manuela comforts her. chastises her for being an asshole, yeah, but shores her up, too. tells her if she's really sorry, she'll figure out how to change. tells her that she's there for her, and she'll keep being there for her, so long as she tries. dorothea's blown away. she thought she'd lost her shot at having love in her life, but she was too blind to see there are other types of love she's been shutting herself away from, too.
dorothea leaves manuela's, still feeling like shit, but with plans to get lunch or at least call each week, and with the promise that she's going to do better, be better.
she makes an effort, too. she cuts ties with the skunks. changes her business practices. starts being more charitable, less ruthless, less aggressive. itâs a slog and it sucks and sheâs bad at it but fuck sheâs going to try. even if petra never takes her back, even if petra just thinks dorotheaâs trying to cover her own ass again and protect herself from the impact of the story, it doesnât matter. sheâs going to be better. sheâs going to try to do things right, because someone believed in her, someone thought she could be better. and sheâd never thought so highly of herself, never thought she could be more until petra came into her life and saw the potential in her.
petra releases the story a week or so later, unrevised. she texts dorothea before she does. says sheâs sorry. dorothea says itâs alright. she understands.
the story drops and itâs a clusterfuck. an absolute PR disaster. the scummy company folds overnight. a bunch of related fashion companies, including dorotheaâs, are in huge hot water. dorotheaâs on the press circuit, doing damage control. petraâs watching an interview with her, listening to her spouting off her PR beats. fully expecting dorothea is going to deny everything, throw everyone she can under the bus to keep her shit afloat. so she just about has a heart attack when dorothea admits sheâs fucked up. admits she made the wrong decisions, did stuff she knew was scummy. takes accountability. is honest for once. honest in a way petra didnât think was even possible for her.
dorothea outlines her plans for how sheâs going to be better, the changes her companyâs making, how things are going to be different. says sheâs making a commitment. if it all folds, so be it. at least sheâll be able to sleep at night.
because capitalism is the way it is, the company doesnât go under. theyâre in the red for a while and the "Controversies" section of her wikipedia page is now significantly longer, but the news cycle goes on and consumers forget and a few months later, pieces from dorotheaâs summer line are all the rage with the kids on tiktok. petraâs more than a little bitter about it, but mostly she doesnât give it any thought. she did her part. wrote honestly. spoke the truth. kept her integrity. sheâs become a big name since that scoop, too, with her career really taking off. she's writing books and shit, appearing on tv, what have you, doing the investigative work she's always dreamed of doing.
sheâs in london one night on the final leg of a press tour, sitting in her hotel room, when she gets a call.
itâs dorothea. sheâs in london too. would petra like to get brunch tomorrow?
yeah she would. bitch loves a mimosa.
they get brunch and itâs tense. they try small talk but donât really know what to talk about. dorothea makes it more awkward by cracking a joke about petra writing an article about her after this brunch and petra only kind of laughs.
but then dorothea apologizes. earnest. honest. like sheâs never been with petra. tells her sheâs sorry. tells her how she changed her life and made her think about herself differently, made her think she could be a better person. made her Want to be a better person. convinced her itâd be worthwhile to try. and she has. sheâs made so many steps since they last saw each other. doing better. living kinder. living true. says she doesnât expect anything from petra at all. just wanted to say sorry, and thank you for seeing the best in me.
petra says youâre welcome.
dorothea pays for brunch and they go their separate ways. dorothea holds it together until she gets to her hotel room and then she loses it, bawling her eyes out like she has never ever done, like sheâs never let herself do. but itâs okay. she loves petra, that hot journo with the cute accent and more morals than sense, but dorothea knows she doesnât deserve her, and sheâs going to be okay with that. sheâs going to live better anyway, for herself, because sheâs worth it.
act 5
a year and a half goes by before dorothea and petra run into each other at a formal Thing. they talk, cordial, business-like, just catching up. dorothea makes a crack about the tmz photos of petra with three or four different high-profile supposed gfs over the past year and a half, calling her a heartbreaker. petra laughs, a real laugh. says dorothea's one to talk. asks if she's been keeping up with her? how often does she google her? dorothea says she does it more often than she'd like to admit. petra blushes, laughs again, flattered.
she asks if dorothea's been breaking more hearts lately herself and dorothea says nah. she's been focusing on her business. she's got this non-profit going now too, and it's been taking off. just landed some pretty big investments that will bring arts programs to schools that don't have funding for them. she looks proud of this. she is. she's actually spending more time doing that these days than her fashion stuff, which makes her a little sad, but it's not so bad because it's given her a bit of a mystique: the designer whose work was once Everywhere, now dropping limited release lines every few seasons instead of keeping up with the fast fashion whirlwind. it's different but it's good. she likes it. she's happy.
petra says she's glad to hear that. that she's happy for her. makes a reference to the new line dorothea's rumored to be dropping this fall. dorothea's eyes almost pop out of her head. you know about that? yeah, petra says, i google you. she's known about the non-profit, about everything dorothea's been telling her about. she's a journalist. she likes knowing things. but she likes knowing about her. knowing that she's doing well. and it's really good now, knowing that she's happy. she tells dorothea she's happy for her. that she's proud of her. that she knew she could do it.
dorothea doesn't cry. just says thank you. she gets called away by somebody else, and petra does too, pulled in the opposite direction. dorothea thinks about hugging her first. almost touches her hand. elects not to. says it was good to see her. then they're both whirled elsewhere and they don't see each other again.
but that night when dorothea's in her hotel, she gets a text. it's from petra. would she like to get coffee tomorrow?

i remember distinctly at some point i promised myself i would finish blue chicago moon before my birthday (lmfao) and now it is my birthday .. and unfortunately itâs been weeks since iâve touched a google doc in general much less that fic but to celebrate iâm posting an excerpt from a later part in the fic iâve had written out for a while now. enjoy ^_^
Theyâre laying in bed together, after, the way thatâs become more casual as of late, more natural; they take turns taking drags from the same cigarette.
Carmyâs telling some story, âAnd then Peteââ
Richie interrupts him with an exaggerated scoff, rolling his eyes, and Carmy smacks him on the shoulder with the back of his hand. âI know, I know, stop itâbut Peteâs not bad. Really. He can be cool, sometimes, like actually coolââ
Richie groans, rolling away from Carmy, except the bedâs too small for him to go anywhere, so he really just turns onto his other sideâCarmy rolls after him, propping himself onto his elbows so he can wrestle Richie onto his back, stubbornly crossing his arms over Richieâs chest and leaning his weight onto him to keep him there; he reaches over to crush the rest of the cigarette into the ashtray. âIâm serious, Peteâs not that bad, and maybe if youâd actually give him a chance or opened up to him a bit more Sugar wouldnât hate you as muchââ
âOh, so now itâs my fault that Sugar hates me? When have I ever given a shit about what she thinks?â Richie gripes, and Carmy rolls his eyes.
âShe doesnât actually, you know. You just have a tendency of being a complete and utter piece of shitââ
âWhat, is she still fuckinâ mad at me for that one timeââ
âYou mean when you said women shouldnât run for office,â Carmy interrupts him flatly.
âThat was a fucking joke! And it was, like, twelve years ago! I love women in office! I fuckinâ voted for Hillary in 2016ââ he ignores when Carmy snorts in his face, incredulous, ââand maybe if she actually had a sense of humor sometimes she wouldnât have ended up marrying that goddamn fucking narc. Has the personality of fuckinâ wet tissue paper. You know how many times heâs tried inviting me over for a fuckinâ family barbecue or some shit like that? Like Iâm the one who actually needs an invitation. Probably just trying to trick me into making friendship bracelets with him while watching Paw Patrol or some other fuckinâ propagandaââ
Richieâs rant continues, and itâs so ridiculous that Carmy canât help the genuine laughter that bubbles out of him at the mental image of it, ducking his face into his arms to hide his smile; except Richieâs caught on and started laughing, too, chest rumbling beneath Carmyâs weight, and it honestly surprises him, how at ease he feels. Naked under the covers, lying on top of Richie of all people, and heâs actually laughing.
Carmy doesnât really use the word happy to describe how he feels because he thinks itâs too loaded, too precarious, too complex. He doesnât want to say heâs happy because the notion is difficult for him to pinpoint, and even when he does it usually doesnât last too long anywaysâbut he feels⌠light. All of his usual heaviness absent for once. He feels good.
When he brings his face back up he finds Richie already looking at him, focused on his face, the trace of a smile still present in the curve of his lips, and Carmy canât tell what the emotion in his eyes is but it looks a little bit likeâmarvel. Itâs the same way Marcus looks at the pages heâd printed out of Carmyâs cookbook, carefully and lovingly taped onto the wall of his station, the fascination of discovering something new, of resonating with it; and Carmy doesnât know what to do with that.
But then Richieâs eyes fall a bit, fixing themselves on a specific part of his faceâRichieâs hand comes up to cup it, nothing unusual by now, but Carmyâs overcome by the warmth he still feels in his chest at the touch, this simple intimacy. Richieâs palm is familiar and calloused around his cheek, and it makes Carmy want to lean into it.
âWhatâs this from?â Richie murmurs questioningly, running the pad of his thumb gently down the skin of his cheek, just below his right eye, and it takes a moment for Carmy to realize heâs talking about his scar. âFall into a barbecue again?â
Carmy huffs, half amused. âNo. No, uh⌠itâs stupid. Happened while I was drunk, years ago. Back in New York, when I first left.â
Richie raises his eyebrows at that. âWhat, you actually got into a fuckinâ fight? I mean, sounds dope, but having a sick ass battle scar on your face isnât really in character for you, no offense.â
Carmy rolls his eyes. âNo, it wasnât a fightâI⌠was drinking, and it was kind of just something I did, in the very beginning, I guess. In my downtime, by myself in my apartment because it wasnât like I had any friends or anything better to do, and it was just supposed to be a way to keep myself occupied. Get me to fall asleep faster, if anything, so I wouldnât fucking lie awake in bed all night thinking about shit. Except that time it backfired on me, because I gotââ Carmy breathes out through his nose, an almost amused, self-deprecating laugh, âSo drunk, and all I could think about wasâMikey.
âAnd I was just so fucking upset. I felt hurt, you know. Had been hurt for the whole past year, and Iâd deleted Mikeyâs number off my phone months ago so I wouldnât do anything monumentally fucking stupid like call him while I was drunk or something. And I think I was just⌠fed up, at that point. I was so fuckinâ angry, at Mikey, at myself, at everyone that I just⌠kind of had this meltdown. Nearly trashed my whole fuckinâ apartment. Was breaking shit, throwing shit around, and when it was over I found myself in my bathroom, staring at myself in the mirror for the longest time. And I hated what I saw, because it didnât feel like me. I never felt like myself back then. Didnât know who I was supposed to be without Mikey and Sugar and everybody else around, and I hated that about me.
âAnd eventually all I could think about wasââ Carmy cuts himself off, thinking about the words. How to say them. âHow much I needed⌠a change. How much I wanted to. But I think I took that a little too literally, or maybe I just wasnât fucking thinking at all, because I just⌠slammed my face into the mirror, as hard as I could. Like I was in a fuckinâ movie or something, you know. And there was all this fuckinâ glass, blood everywhere, my face totally fucked, all that shit. It was a mess. I could barely fucking see.â
Richie watches him recount the story with quiet intensity, and even though Carmy doesnât look back at him he can feel Richieâs eyes on his face, gaze intent. But it doesnât make him feel uncomfortable, or awkward, or exposed, the way having someoneâs undivided attention usually makes him feel. In the moment, he simply just feels listened to. Richieâs watching him, but Carmy doesnât feel watched; just seen.
âSo what happened after? Just bled out all over your fuckinâ floor?â
Carmy huffs. âNo, I, uh⌠had to take myself to the hospital. It was, like, three in the morning. Got four stitches out of it, and still showed up to work the next day.â
Heâs expecting Richie to make fun of him, honestly. And why wouldnât he? He thinks it might just be because of the good mood heâs in, but Carmyâs surprised to find that he doesnât feel any residual bitterness recalling the memory. Thinks if he were anybody else heâd laugh at himself, too.
Richie doesnât make fun of him, though. âThat might actually be the most hardcore shit youâve ever told me.â Richie sniffs. âAlmost as hardcore as walking off a stab wound, anyways. Youâre getting there.â
Carmy actually laughs, the memory of it amusing now that itâs all behind him. It seems fucking ridiculous, looking back on it now. Itâs only been a few months, but it feels like a lifetime ago; when he tries to think about it now, he feels like a spectator of his own life, watching the events unfold from someone else's perspective, or like standing from the outside and looking in. He gets that feeling a lot, Carmy thinks.
âYou know, I never actually asked you about that. Were you good? Like, was the wound deep, orâŚâ
âGee, thanks for the concern. Not like it happened, like, six fuckinâ months ago. Glad to know I mean so much to you.â
âShut up and just tell me. And you probably really did fucking deserve it.â
Richie scoffs. âCouldnât fucking tell you. Hurt like a goddamn bitch when it happened, though. Got Ebra to patch me up. Couldnât sit right for a couple weeks, but it was whatever.â He sniffs. âAt least it was somewhere people donât see it. Not sure if thatâll make for a cool scar story in the future.â
âWhat, like mine was?â
âNah, yours is just depressing. Do me a favorânext time somebody asks, just tell them you got it in a bar fight like a normal person.â Richie says, and then after a pause, âThat why you donât drink?â
Itâs this question that finally makes Carmy feel embarrassed for some reason, glancing up at the ceiling. âSomething like that.â
âDamn. And I thought Mikey was the one who was fucked up.â
Carmy laughs a little again, in spite of everything, running a hand through his hair. âYeah, well. Guess it runs through the fuckinâ family.â
âThey call you guys the Bears for a reason,â Richie says simply. But he still has his hand on Carmyâs face, running his thumb over his scar absentmindedly, like trying to soothe away pain that hasnât been there for years. Itâs a subtle sort of intimacy, quiet and tender. Itâs Richieâs touch and not the recollection that makes Carmyâs chest prickle, and he wonders briefly if this is something he ever did with Mikey: lying in the dark, listening to each othersâ stories, touching without thinking about it.
He wonders if this is how Richie treats those he cares the most about, or maybe if heâs just gotten close enough to be able to experience this side of him. If this is what itâs like to be Richieâs best friend, to trust someone wholeheartedly, sharing moments that are quiet and intimate and vulnerable.
âAlright,â Richie continues, making Carmy glance up. âYour turn.â
Carmy looks at him quizzically. âMy turn for what?â
âAsk me something. Nothing off limits, everything on the table. You shared something about yourself so itâs only natural for me to do the same.â
Carmy frowns a little at this, if only because the notion is strange to him. Itâs not like heâs never been open and honest with Richie beforeâin fact, those moments have been occurring more often than heâd honestly like to admitâbut it feels different, this way. To be given the opportunity, no holds barred, because usually Carmy refrains from ever prying too deep; not just with Richie, but with everybody.
He rolls off Richieâs chest back onto the bed, lying on his side with his head propped in his hand as he considers. Richie is surprisingly patient for once, offering him the silence to think, and the whole thing honestly just makes Carmy flustered.
âIs thereâŚâ Carmy starts uncertainly, hesitating, but continues when Richie turns to him, expectant. âIs there a reason why you keep your ring?â
Richie stares at him for a moment, uncomprehending, before glancing down at the golden wedding band on his finger, like heâd forgotten that it was there, like he didnât even know he was wearing it. Then his expression twists, incredulous, like he canât believe that out of all the things Carmy couldâve possibly asked him about itâs his goddamn wedding ring.
âWhy, does it make you jealous or something?â Richie teases him. âDoes it make you feel like youâre my mistress?â
Carmyâs face turns hot, but he tells himself itâs out of annoyance rather than embarrassment. âYou know what? Forget I asked.â
Richie chuckles, running his knuckles over Carmyâs side placatingly. âNah, nah, Iâm kidding. Uh⌠if Iâm being honest, itâs, like, a distraction. Something for me to worry with. I stopped wearing it after me and Tiff split, but I started wearing it again after Mikey. I dunno. I guess after he died it felt like⌠nothing was right. Just everything gone to complete shit, and the ring just felt familiar. Like, having it there reminded me of this time in my life where I kind of, sort of had things together, and I guess I just wanted to feel that way again somehow, even if in reality itâs the complete fuckinâ opposite.â
Carmy nods slowly. In a sense, he thinks he gets it. Clinging onto that sense of familiarity; needing the illusion of stability in his life. He understands him.
