I would like to draw the public’s attention to these passages in The Sussex Vampire:

“He felt there were sides of her character which he could never explore or understand” - This is describing Robert Ferguson (the client) and his wife.

On the next page, we discover that Watson had, in fact, been a rugby player back in the day. Holmes’ response is this: “Holmes looked at me thoughtfully and shook his head. ‘I never get your limits, Watson.’ Said he. ‘There are unexplored possibilities about you.’”

I find this an interesting parallel between Mr and Mrs Ferguson and Holmes and Watson.

Mr Ferguson feels that his wife is too different from him, and there are too many things about her that he doesn’t know and has given up on trying to know, which drives a wedge between them.

Meanwhile, Holmes here realizes that there are sides to Watson that he’s yet to see, but he’s curious and delighted to discover new things about him.

I’m curious if you guys think this was intentional or not

Something I realized about Anya is that her text is a teal color, teal is the same color of the ribbons for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and—I just find that really neat and nice

Gonna be honest, it took me until the other characters actually started talking about Siffrin's eyepatch for me to realize that's what it was. I never noticed the straps on it, and the art stlye doesn't detail it with anything else, so...

I had two theories: one was that it was some sort of, magical thing that was superimposed over their eye, or that it was the eye itself, petrified by some other kind of magic to always remain wide open and dark.

Discovering that it was a normal eyepatch wasn't really a letdown, but it was funny and I need everyone to know how much my brain overcomplicated it

Okay, it's been almost two months and I've decided that I need to elaborate because I'm still thinking about it.

1) They both started attending Camp Half-Blood at a super young age (most probably both seven, as Harley is 8 in The Hidden Oracle and has already been at camp for at least a year and a half since Leo says the Hephaestus Cabin hasn't had any new kids before him and after the "Curse")

2) They are both extremely clever and inventive (Harley's Three Legged Death Race is 100% something eight year old Annabeth would make)

3) Both are coddled by Chiron, who can't say no to them (Annabeth learning about the Great Prophesy at way too young an age, and Chiron allowing the 3 legged death race to happen again despite Paolo literally losing a limb)

4) The reason Chiron can't say no to them is that they lost their older sibling (Thalia and Leo respectively, though Harley also lost Beckendorf most probably, depending on when he first started at camp)

5) Said older sibling comes back from the dead, and then proceeds to leave camp and find another family of their own (Thalia—the Hunters, and Leo—everyone at Waystation)

6) The reason said sibling was able to come back has to do with them (Thalia—the fleece which Annabeth got; Leo—the beaker that Harley made that helped him find camp)

So clearly I've been thinking about this too much. If anyone else has any additions as to the similarities between Annabeth and Harley, add them!

Harley in Trials of Apollo is what Annabeth was when she first arrived at camp, and I will not be elaborating.

I was thinking about the scene where Bridget is taking a bath and Unika’s reaction. Despite it being funny that it seems like seeing a tgirl naked is one of her first steps towards not terrorism. But, if you’ll allow me to analyze the scene, I think it’s interesting symbolically.

Despite Bridget being naked, it’s completely non-sexual and not portrayed as fan service whatsoever; the lighting and framing give it an almost ethereal feeling. We have cultural context as well, since public bathhouses are a big thing in Japan, so even though she’s in the ocean and not in a bathhouse, “a woman seeing another woman naked” in the context of one of them bathing wouldn’t be read as inherently sexual.

Especially since the fact that she’s naked isn’t something that’s focused upon- the main focus is the emotions of the scene. Specifically, the fact that it’s showing how Bridget accepts who she is and isn’t ashamed to be vulnerable, even around someone who is close to being a total stranger.

Going to Unika, she seems to base her worth on her efficiency as a weapon and being useful to her father and whatever he’s scheming. I think that seeing someone like Bridget, who is comfortable and confident in her body and self, is the thing that I believe must’ve really reached Unika in this scene.
