Thinking about this line from Cazador and what implies:

I keep thinking about how strange and new must have been for Astarion to finally be surrounded by people who actually listen to him and no one there to punish him for speaking up.

How it must have felt for him to be able to freely joke around and find that Tav actually laughs at his jokes and even joins in the fun. How new it must have been to be able to express himself and have people who actually listen to him and don't treat him like he is a nuisance, but truly listen to what he has to say.

I imagine a Tav who just listens, even when he is complaining and whining on purpose, they listen and maybe smile a bit between themselves because they've seen through him, and they never tell him to shut up, they let him vent, they listen to his stories about Cazador, they laugh with him at his jokes.

No wonder he falls so hard for Tav or becomes very fond of them in a friendship route.

After 200 years where even the Gods didn't care to listen, he has found someone who sits down with him and hears him out.

Not just in this story but in our lives too.#The past can still hurt and it doesn't just go away with time as some say. It is the power of realizing that things have changed.#We can't get the good back. The bad memories have concluded. Those live somewhere else now.#It is hard to realize that you have to live for today and tomorrow. The past is so loud.#For WWX it is realizing that despite the mistrust in the past - He really does have faith that LWJ will be there for him.#It is the reflection of knowing that you changed and will keep changing and that change is good and kind sometimes.#But more importantly...and this I really do mean with all my heart:#It will all end up okay in the end. this dragon who claimed this mountain long before cultivators settled it, who has more claim to the sect than the sect leader himself, who is the actual god of the cang qiong mountains—

this great god called binghe gifted, clever, capable. this god looked at sqq and said he was afraid of luo binghe’s potential. it seems ridiculous to luo binghe; he’s made no progress with his cultivation since arriving. shen qingqiu took one look at him and knew he was worthless, but their sect’s god looked at him and decided the opposite.

it’s a lot for binghe to process. a part of him is waiting for lord canglong to turn and say it was all a joke and binghe’s a fool for believing there could possibly anything worthy about him. but instead he vanishes back to his peak just as swiftly as he came, and when luo binghe arrives he’s in his dragon form again.

and he pats luo binghe’s head.

maybe it’s because he doesn’t really understand lord canglong’s expression when he’s like this, but luo binghe finds himself weeping. and when he cries, lord canglong guides him to rest on his serpentine body and curls around him like—like binghe’s something to protect, something precious. when was the last time anyone protected him?

luo binghe cries himself to sleep curled up against shen yuan. his heart aches for the little protagonist. this poor kid. yeah, he’ll grow up to be a badass demon lord with more wives in his harem than the stars in the sky; but right now, he’s just a kid.

these are his mountains, even if he’s been asleep for most of the past 700 years. they’re still his territory, and the sect is made of his cultivators; didn’t they swear themselves to him or something when this generation ascended, just like the last seven generations? now that he’s awake, shen yuan is going to make sure his mountains survive. shielding luo binghe from shen qingqiu’s cruelty is just step one, right?
