Halloween Fic Recs 2023 Week 5: Old Favorites
Welcome to the last week of Halloween fic recs! This week the stories are some of my favorites from previous years' lists.
When in Rom(ania), Do As The Ghosties Do by Blizzard_Fire (@superblizzardfire) (Gen, General Audiences, 3,115 words)
Summary: "By the way," says Tony, "I may have bought a castle. In Romania." Steve recognises that look: it means he’s planning something, which is never a good sign. "I got it cheap because it’s one of the most haunted castles on the continent." Vision’s eyes light up. Literally. It’s a little creepy. "Haunted?" Tony passes him the StarkPad. "Here’s your chance, buddy. You up for a trip?" Steve and Vision spend the night in a "haunted" Romanian castle. What could go wrong?
The Old Ones Wait by Sholio (@sholiofic) (Gen, Teen And Up Audiences, 2,231 words)
Summary: Just a little bit of eldritch-horror-hunting in the countryside. Perfectly normal.
Hungry by tuesday (Gen, General Audiences, 1,102 words)
Summary: It's a baby.
The rest are below the cut!
Does not play well with others by usedupshiver (@usedupshiver) (Gen, Major Character Death, Teen And Up Audiences, 11,588 words)
Summary: While sneaking into the Starks' abandoned home, Steve makes the startling discovery that even though no Stark is living in the house anymore, not all of them have actually left.
For Whose Love I Rise and Fall by Yeetmeaway (Romanogers, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Mature, 195,570 words)
Summary: In 1943 Hydra unleashes a deadly virus in its quest to create a new world order-- one that turns its hosts into vampire-like creatures. 75 years later, humanity is on the brink of extinction, protected only by the hunters of SHIELD. Natasha has already lost so much to this-- they are fighting a losing battle and everyone can feel it. But, for the first time in years SHIELD has hope, the possibility of a cure. What else will she give to bring an end to this nightmare?
Sam Wilson: Ghost Hunter by kehinki (SamSteve, Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Not Rated, 1,334 words)
Summary: Sam's stuck in a horror movie cliche. Also available as a podfic read by sisi_rambles
A Long, Lonely Time by asktheravens (Stony, Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Major Character Death, Mature, 58,567 words)
Summary: Steve returned from the war injured in body and mind- and able to see the dead. At loose ends and desperate to get out of New York City, he accepts a fellowship through the Stark Foundation and retreats to a quiet lake house on the grounds of the Stark Mansion. He's supposed to be there to paint, but he quickly realizes that the house is more than he bargained for. Anthony Stark died here a decade ago, but was it an accident? A suicide? Or a murder? Obadiah Stane still lives in the main house just up the hill, and the past casts a long shadow. When Tony's ghost begins appearing to him, Steve becomes more entwined in the dangerous mystery surrounding his death. Even worse, he finds himself falling for a man who died a decade ago... Features lots of ghosts, murder, secrets, and supernatural revenge. Also Thor and Rhodey.
What Lies Beneath by asktheravens (Stony, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Explicit, 38,726 words)
Summary: All Tony wants is to make amends after a thoughtless reaction leaves him in danger of losing Steve, but a mission intervenes. The Avengers travel to a laboratory in a remote part of Appalachia expecting a routine job, but an ancient evil slumbers within Old Crow Mountain that will test much more than their relationship.
Work of Art by veryvincible (@veryvincible) (Stony, Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Mature, 5,656 words)
Summary: Tony smelled… off. Wrong. He smelled strange in a way that would justify the cold, Steve thought. There was a metallic layer to blood that Steve was used to smelling, and in Tony, that was distinctly not present. So, Steve concluded, Tony must have had an iron deficiency. Something to that effect, at least. He became faint without warning, he was chilly as the dead, and he was as pale as any man Steve had ever seen. - Tony Stark is a vampire. It's common knowledge, at this point.Somehow, Steve isn't aware of that little fact.
Glass Gardens (The Witching Hour Remix) by Woad (Stony, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Mature, 18,692 words)
Summary: The year is 1883. Spiritualism is at an all-time high, "taking the waters" is a popular cure-for-what-ails-you, and sanitariums offer retreats to restore the health. When Tony is shipped off to one, he is convinced his stay will be an utter waste of time. That is, until things take a disastrous turn, and Tony begins to doubt everything about himself.
Dragging You Down by AraniaArt, Kamiki (@araniaart) (Stucky, Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Explicit, 81,016 words)
Summary: In a divergence from the canon storyline, Hydra experiments with occult legends of a more demonic bent. When Bucky is captured at Azzano, something more insidious than a knock-off super soldier serum is done to him, but the full effects take some time to completely set in. Bucky struggles with building impulses and an increased libido while trying to keep his interest in Steve from boiling over and ruining Steve’s chance at the life he deserves.
"Steve"/32557 by Shaish (Stucky, Major Character Death, Mature, 5,431 words)
Summary: His couch pillows are on the floor. His couch pillows shouldn't be on the floor.
Demon Seed by SucculentHyena (@succulent-hyena) (Stucky, Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Mature, 92,478 words)
Summary: [Transcript 00:11:48] MS: You were with him the most throughout the course of events, both before and after. Your account could shed light on something we may have missed. JB: What difference will that make? MS: It could make all the difference. Captain Rogers’ case is unprecedented, he’s the most intact victim we’ve ever recovered- JB: [laughing] You call that intact? -Excerpt of Interview with Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes regarding the Incident.

Part 1 , Part 3
—
'I love you, Mama.' Was the last thing Natasha heard from her baby and then, nothing. Just pure silence. One that made her whole being hurt.
She fell to her knees and the world turned black for her.
—
She woke up by someone calling her name.
Steve was lightly shaking her in an attempt to bring her back to consciousness.
Saying he was concerned was an understatement. Natasha's reaction scared Steve and the worst was about to come.
For a second Natasha looked at him with hope. Hope that everything was a nightmare and that you were actually okay and home.
But that little hope died soon when she saw the pained look on his face.
"No..." The woman shook her head
"Nat, I'm sorry-"
"No!" She cut him off "That's not true. Not my baby, not my baby. She's alive. She has to be!"
Steve has never seen his friend in such a state. She was supposed to be the emotionless assassin who never showed her feelings.
But he knows that all of that changed when you came into her life. On the day you were born, it was the first time everyone had seen Natasha truly smile.
She started to show love and affection.
All because of you. For you.
And now she had the worst breakdown because of you. You were her only child. The only one she could ever have. And that made everything much worse.
"We tracked her phone and sent the team to the location." Steve thought for a second how to say this but there was no easy way "They only found grumble."
"I don't believe you." Natasha protested, still in a denial state "Take me there. I want to see it with my own eyes."
"I don-"
"Take me to her." She pleaded, tears pouring out of her eyes "Please..."
The Captain sighed and nodded his head, helping his teammate stand up.
Steve supported her weight while they walked to the QuinJet.
—
All the way to the location, Natasha had bounced her leg anxiously and refused to believe the reality. She refused to believe you were dead.
But honestly, what mother would easily accept that her child is gone?
What mother could accept that her reason to be alive, isn't alive anymore? That her reason is dead...
—
As soon as they landed, Natasha rushed to what had been a building and started to look around for you.
"Romanoff..." Tony called her softly, but she just ignored him as she kept searching for a glimpse of her child
The team was crushed down. You were like a kid to all of them and your mom was like their sister. You were the pride and joy of your mother and the sunshine of your uncles.
The men were just sitting speechless to one side, with tears in their eyes that were about to fall.
"Natasha..." Different people called her, but she ignored them all, too focused on finding you
"Natalia!" Clint shouted, pulling her back by her shoulders, making her look into his eyes "She's gone! Do you hear me?! She's truly gone! She left us! We found her body already."
And with that, he took out of his pocket your necklace, which was a match to your mother's.
He had gifted both of you one, as he had one too. A reminder that you two were his family.
Natasha looked at it for a few seconds and then slowly took it from Clint's hand into her own, holding it tight to her chest.
Natasha's thoughts were all over the place.
Clint wouldn't lie to her. He was her best friend. Her brother in all but blood. She knows how much he loves you, so he wouldn't lie about something like this. Wouldn't he?
But yet she couldn't bring herself to believe him. The mother in her couldn't accept the truth.
"I-I want t-to see it." She managed to say, through her violent sobs
"Nat, you don't have to. It's not a good idea." Clint tried to hold her back, while she fought to push past him, his voice calm
"I want to see her!" She cried as Clint pushed her back again
Just then the red-headed woman caught a glimpse of something behind Bruce and Thor, who were trying their best to cover it.
Her heart dropped to her stomach when she realized what it was.
A body bag.
She stopped fighting which confused the men, who soon understood what she had seen.
There was no going back.
They let her go and she slowly walked to the bag and crunched down next to it.
She just stared wide-eyed at the zip.
No one dared to go there and unzip the bag for Natasha. They were just too hurt to do it. How could they crush Natasha's world by doing that?
But it had to be done.
Steve was the only one with enough courage to go and unzip the bag for Natasha. Clint placed his hands on her shoulders, getting ready for her mental breakdown.
Steve only opened enough to reveal the head and neck, of the kid he liked to think of as his own.
Natasha gasped and leaned forward, as close to the body as possible.
It was really you.
You, somehow, had your face untouched by the damage of the explosion, only having a small cut on your lower lip.
Even though you were pale, you looked so peaceful and if Natasha didn't know better, she would swear that you were sleeping. She actually waited for a moment for you to open your eyes and lazily smile at her while greeting her with a happy 'Good morning, Mama'.
But no.
She brought her shaky hand to your forehead and started to caress your face and stroke your hair.
You were ice cold and that broke her even more. She wanted to feel the warmth of her baby, like the first time she felt it when she held you in her arms.
But there was none. No warmth, no breath, no movement. Nothing.
She rested her forehead on yours and whispered into your ear "Hey baby girl. Mama's here. You don't have to be afraid anymore. Please open your beautiful eyes and look at me. Please. You're everything I have. You are the reason why I wake up every morning and smile. You are the only reason that makes me want to live. So please, come back to me. Don't leave me."
When she gained no response, Natasha finally let out her pain and kissed you all over your face, crying, lingering on each kiss. Her tears fell like raindrops on your pale face.
—
Natasha was still sitting on the ground with you in her arms. Your head tightly pressed against her chest.
She was rocking you back and forth, when the boys heard a scream so powerful and painful, that would haunt their dreams forever.
Natasha had been through a lot in her life but nothing hurt her as much as the pain of losing her baby girl did.
Why it had to be her? Why did she had to be the one who lost her baby? Why her daughter?

How I would have done Wanda in the MCU (pt.2)
Note that this is obviously comprised of my own opinions and if you don’t agree with them, simply scroll away and ignore it
Helloooo
So this is part 2, where I will tackle the phase 3 projects i.e. civil war, infinity war and end game
(Part 1 was winter soldier and age of Ultron)
Note the fact that obviously everything that was going to happen to her character arc in phase 4 was not planned when she was seen in winter soldier so I do have the benefit of hindsight and this is by no means, something that should have been done or anything.
I am not a screenwriter and this will not be perfect.
Without further ado, let’s get into it
Captain America : Civil War
“I can’t control their fear, only my own”
Now I think this film is amazing in its portrayal of Wanda. But with my version of age of ultron, some changes do need to come about
🥀 a confrontation between her and Tony
So this concludes the plot line that I added in age of ultron of Wanda still resenting Tony
The missile that killed her parents and took away her home was from stark industries. Her brother died in a rampage caused by one of his creations .That very creation destroyed the city she lived in
How can she ever come to terms with that?
Perhaps the scene could start out with Tony trying to recruit her onto his side
She’s powerful. If they can convince a mutant with such power to join their side and sign the accords then theyll be able to convince almost everyone that what they are doing is right
Wanda spares him one glance before looking away
He starts talking and making an argument, trying to be gentle
No longer being able to bear the sound of his voice, she lashes out
Her accent comes out again
The television glitches
A window shatters
“ You took my parents, my brother and my city away from me and you have the audacity to even think that I would comply to your team!? “
“ listen kid, I understand- “
“No you don’t! How can you!? You live in luxury, you are at the head of the avengers and you have nearly every military at your fingertips. You don’t understand and you never will”
She storms off and all Tony can do is sink into self pity
I think it gives more insight into siding with Cap and gives the audience a reminder of what Tony did
🥀 more scenes with vision
Just to set up the thing with the already emotional thing of her losing him 3 times
The cooking scene is adorable so more of that
Maybe her watching the news and drowning in guilt of what she did and vision just coming passing through the wall and into her room, startling her
‘Vis, we’ve talked about this’
‘Apologies’
He sits down and with one look at the news and then Wanda, he takes a cd (it can be one she gave him or one he found in her room) and switches from the news to a sit com
‘The last episode was too much of a cliffhanger. If you don’t mind’
Wanda just chuckles and watches, now with a wide smile on her face
And then Steve comes in and tells them Tony wants to meet with every one
While I like the scene where Steve is comforting her, I do find this more suitable.
As they end up on opposite sides, they still care for each other and I think this can also help us understand how vision (currently) is awkward and does not know how to go about things but he understands Wanda and Wanda understands him. They’re both new to all this, they’re both awkward, they both want the best for each other. But they have to fight against each other.
We could also get something with them discussing their futures and where they want to end up and Vision lets slip something like ‘we could live together… or not, it’s up to you really’
‘That doesn’t sound bad actually, can save money’
‘Yes of course. Money.’
Now these scenes, paired with Tony’s confrontation scene later or earlier on, ties into the rift vision and stark get into over vision nearly causing Rhodey’s death
🥀her in prison
Just to see vision’s reaction and him maybe lashing out, reminding Tony of Ultron, making him almost scared. Vision calms down eventually but this just makes Tony more weary of both of them and grow resentment
🥀her aesthetic
Again one of those nit-picky points but I do think it would have helped her character
We see her room in one scene, right?
Instead of it being bland like shown, maybe there are posters of popular sitcoms, tapestries of gothic art (she never left her emo phase, what do you mean), a pile of newspapers documenting the avengers’s cases or a pile of cds
Anything
Her costume, again , unnecessarily sexualises her
While I like the idea of it, maybe ditch the heels and give her more coverage for protection?
Olsen will look great either way but it just bugs me that this blatant sexualisation is not part of her character in any way, just there for the hell of it.
Now just some things I do like about this movie (almost everything) :
🥀the incident in the beginning of the movie setting up how Wanda still hasn’t settled into this whole superhero thing
🥀the cooking scene with Vision
🥀her dynamic with hawkeye
🥀how she actually faces proper consequences (which becomes rarer as projects go on)
🥀the brief scenes we get of her in prison
Avengers : Infinity War
“why was she up there all this time?”
Okay so I really love this movie
And I barely have any changes to give to her character as I think it ties in pretty nicely. The interactions are fun, the emotion is there
just one thing to conclude the Bruce plot line from age of ultron
🥀a scene between her and Bruce
This is the first time they see each other, both characters have been through shit
Maybe it could start off as Wanda approaching him. She drove him through all this madness in the first place
Bruce is still shaken from everything that has happened and seems distant but tries to appear friendly. How he always does, I suppose
Now it doesn’t have to be much
Just a small conversation that starts off awkward, that is in nature of both characters at the time
Then it gets deeper, Wanda apologises
She understands now, how it feels to be painted as a monster by the public, how to have so many against you. She tells him it was driven by rage, by unnecessary fury and how she wishes she could take it back
Bruce, unsure, takes a pause and then smiles
Faintly but smiles
He reassures her that it’s okay and he forgives her but they have a bigger threat on their heels and right now, the best solution is to stick together
Despite everything that has happened in their pasts
Other than that, everything about her character is near perfection in this film. The plot line with vision, the acting GAH THE ACTING, every decision she makes, like * chef’s kiss *
Avengers : Endgame
”you took everything from me”
Same as infinity war, I do not have any such thing to add to this film
but I do wanna conclude a plot line
🥀a scene with Tony
Now this is the epic battle that has gotten 10 years of build up, it would just be outright stupid to devote an entire scene to them. But maybe we can see Tony’s reaction
as the slides show the different people who have been blipped, when Wanda’s comes up - we flash to two people
Clint and Tony
A mentor and an enemy
Tony sinks to his hands again before lashing out in his speech against Steve
he couldn’t save Peter
he couldn’t apologise to Wanda
he couldn’t keep the avengers together
now that is just a small thing but it does show that he feels sorry and wanted to make it up to her but that chance might be gone forever .
we could also rope in vision’s death as a contributing factor to his explosion
now in the final battle, when everyone has arrived, I want to keep it almost the same
but instead of Wanda saving black panther from Thanos, she saves tony
just swap out their roles and make it so that Tony is trying to fly away with the gauntlet with Thanos at his heels and then Wanda flies down from the sky in between them
the showdown goes the exact same with Wanda only getting knocked out when Thanos calls his troops
she falls to the ground and is helped up by Tony (who has now passed the gauntlet to someone else)
now can everything be fully forgiven
no. but they are fighting for a cause bigger than both of them. They are fighting and they are fighting together. A small acknowledgment passes between them as they separate. Giving both a sense of peace. When Tony dies, a pan over to Wanda
She isn’t crying. Cried enough because of the titan.
she’s not angry. she’s understanding. She understands why he did so, she understands for whom he did so, and gains a new found respect for him. some might say too late but she does, a small smile appears on her face before she retreats back to the ship. Letting his family mourn.
He understood. He always understood. Now she can understand as well. but yeah
that’s it for today
I hope you liked it
let me know if there are any changes you would have liked to see

Bro is kinda a coward bc he didnt even take accountability for his actions. He never got to apologize or free Adrien, he just fuckin died. Which is cowardly imo. He didnt have to wish that, just so that he wouldnt have to deal with the consequences of his actions. And my least fav part is that we skipped over all of Adrian's reactions. Him being set free by either Marinette or ladybug, being told that his dad is dead and sacrificed himself for his mom who is now alive again, his dad being his abuser and now everyone's worshiping him like a hero. This isn't just a miraculous thing it's in a lot of different media like with Shadow Weaver and Tony stark. They are praised and given credit for a lot of things and they didn't do shit. They weren't around to fix any of the long-term issues they created. And yet everyone forgets about what they actually did because they sacrificed themselves one time which does not make up for the countless times they made mistakes and hurt people. Now Gabriel agreste will never have to apologize to adrian, look him in the eye and explain what he was doing his entire time and why he was so abusive, and now Adrian has to process his dad's grief who is also his abuser, and the fact that his mom is alive again who he already processed her death and accepted it. Now his brain is going to be so confused and have so much cognitive dissonance from his mom being back and his dad being gone. We didn't even see his reaction we didn't see him freak out because his dad is at his mom was alive because that would have been huge for him and his mental health. I think Adrian would have been happier and less I guess traumatized by this whole situation if Emily didn't come back to life and he decided to actually fix his mistakes instead of becoming a statue. They acted like it was huge progress and now Adrian will never really know how badly his dad affected him and his town. And Gabriel thinks it's so Noble, he doesn't realize that he is the villain and he doesn't want anyone else to even though he's now a quote unquote good guy.
In the end, it didn't seem to me like Gabriel actually cared about Adrian's happiness, mainly his own image in Adrian's mind. Because if he hadn't sacrificed himself for Emily, he would have had to face Adrian and actually take accountability for his mistakes.
A true hero, a truly good person, would apologize and spend the rest of their life trying to fix their mistake. But Gabriel, Tony stark, and Shadow weaver, don't care about that. And neither do the writers because that's the easiest way to end a villain and to pretend that they had a Redemption arc. Gabriel's Redemption Arc should have been apologizing to everyone helping to fix the town spending his money and abilities to fix his mistakes. Giving Adrian therapy and actually changing as a person.

Ectoberweek 25: Forgotten Bones
Prompt: 1. Forest 2. He thinks about the corpse in the woods sometimes. Hard to forget where you are buried.
Characters: Johnny 13, Danny Phantom WC: 1145
———
“I don’t know if I should tell them,” Phantom said, his head hung low and his elbows resting on his knees. It was easy to forget how small the kid was when he trampled around his haunt like some tyrannical overlord, squashing any trespassers before they could say ‘hello.’
Johnny 13 blew the cigarette smoke from his throat and watched it fizzle into the crisp air.
“I feel bad because there’s supposed to be no more secrets, you know? They said they accepted me, so I don’t know why…”
“I never told anyone,” Johnny said.
He might have felt amusement toward Phantom’s owlish reaction if he was in better humor. But then, Johnny was never one to talk about his past.
Most ghosts weren’t.
“Really?” Phantom asked.
“Yup.”
“Why?”
He mulled it over. “It was nobody’s business.”
It was unsurprising to see the kid’s unconvinced expression. Ghost intuition and all.
Because even Phantom knew that unresolved deaths don’t just resolve after a few years of being a ghost. That even if the memories get altered during ghost-formation, the pain never goes away.
The moment never disappears.
It was just his luck he’d get trapped in this situation. Dragged to the forest by a group of faceless, fuzzy men—he couldn’t remember what they looked like—and surrounded with guns drawn and flashlights pointed in his eyes, casting long shadows behind him.
“Please,” Johnny begged. “You have the wrong guys.”
“That’s not what I heard,” the leader said. Beside him, his thug pressed his gun into Kitty’s temple.
“The money or the girl. Your choice.”
“Nobody’s business,” Johnny reiterated, tapping the fresh ash from his cigarette.
The Boy Scout beside him was too out of it to make an annoying remark about littering or whatever the hell dumb thing he’d usually say.
“But Kitty knows, right?”
“She was there, moron.”
“Right, but…” Phantom turned away, sheepish. “Not everyone remembers.”
“Well, you’d have to ask her then. Not everyone was insane enough to—what did you do again?”
If anything, Phantom looked even smaller as he spoke, “...I buried it in the woods.”
“Right, exactly. Most of us don’t bury our own fucking corpses in the woods.”
“And yet, you and I are both in the same place.”
Johnny looked out at the dark sky, noting the speckles of stars that danced around each other. And it occurred to him that, well shit, maybe they were in the same place. Maybe they were both stuck leading an afterlife based off of forgotten skin, forgotten bones.
Forgotten bodies.
But no, they weren’t the same. “Even if I wanted to change it now, I couldn’t. There’s nobody to tell.”
Kitty’s terrified eyes met his, and Johnny nearly collapsed on the spot. The flashlights suddenly seemed too bright, too blinding.
“I’m telling you, it wasn’t us.”
“Really? You weren’t at Tony’s last Tuesday?”
Johnny took a step back, nearly tripping over a root. “No! No, that’s not—”
“You’re calling Tony a liar?”
“—No, please!”
“You could always tell the police. Lead them to your…”
Now that Johnny did chuckle at. “And what do you think would come out of that, kid? Surrender my bones over to the police—and for what, exactly? Justice? Revenge? Kid, I died forty years ago. Do you know what happens to bodies that stay in the dirt for forty years?”
“Well, I was going to say that it might give you some closure, but—”
“Then what’s stopping you?” Johnny said, stamping his cigarette out on the cement roof. “Maybe you should be less worried about me, a guy who’s living out his afterlife doing the thing he loves with the girl of his dreams, and more focused on yourself, who’s clearly so upset you had to come to me for advice.”
Phantom blushed green, and the brief spark of smug fire vanished from his eyes. “I didn’t come to you, you were just already here.”
“And? You’re still talking to me.”
Phantom grumbled but otherwise didn’t argue.
And thank goodness for that too, because Johnny hadn’t come to Earth for a therapy session. He didn’t want to relive that night. He didn’t want to think about what happened. He didn’t want to remember the feel of the brush scraping his legs, the dirt that stained his skin, the guns pressed against their backs as they were led further into the forest, closer and closer to The End.
The sound of Kitty’s voice. The tears on her face. The trembling in her voice.
“Please, sir, that’s not what he meant! We really don’t have anything, I promise!” Kitty cried. “Let us go, just let us go.”
The man pulled out his gun and pointed it at Johnny. Although Johnny couldn’t see—couldn’t remember—the man’s face, he would never forget the pure terror that races through his veins as the barrel pointed at his forehead. He would never forget his shaking limbs finally collapsing onto the dirt. He would never forget praying for one more day with Kitty so they could finally take that road trip they’d always talked about.
“You were there at Tony’s, and on your way out, you nicked from his cocaine supply. You either pay up the money you stole, or I’ll shoot you and your pretty lady myself.”
Johnny’s vision swam. “I—I don’t…”
The fuzzy form of the man stepped closer, casting his shadow over Johnny. “What’s that, princess?”
“I…don’t have it.”
“You should tell them, though,” Johnny said, breaking the silence between them.
Phantom gave him a quizzical look, and Johnny felt like a bug under a microscope. Damn, that kid could be a real pain in the ass sometimes.
Still, something compelled him to keep talking. So he turned his attention back to the sky and said in a detached voice, “You should tell them while you can. Because if you don’t do it now, you never will. You’ll keep putting it off, and putting it off until one day you’ll look around you and realize that there’s nobody left to tell. And you’ll spend the rest of your afterlife wondering if you should have told someone during any of those days you asked yourself and decided it wasn’t the right moment, it wasn’t the right day, that you would do it tomorrow. Because you only have tomorrow until you don’t. And you never know when that day will come, but it will, and it will come faster than you think.”
Phantom didn’t respond, but Johnny didn’t need him to. After all, they were both in the same place, and they weren’t. Johnny had no more tomorrows left, but Phantom still did.
He still had the chance to do what Johnny never could.
Johnny 13 thought about the corpse in the woods sometimes. Hard to forget where you are buried.
He heard Kitty let out a fresh sob in front of him.
“Well, that’s tough luck, kid.”
There was a crack.
Kitty screamed.
And then nothing.

Okay, I know I’m 10 years late to the party on this one - but hear me out, because I want to offer my five cents in a tiny analysis of this scene.
I love A Game of Shadows, and I am always amazed by how even the action scenes build character and have a lot of important development and nuance spliced into them. Take the weapons factory sequence that I have gifed above, for example.
We begin, here, with the scene in which Watson saves Holmes so to speak, and at first glance you’d be forgiven for assuming Holmes is simply relieved to be saved from Moriarty’s torment - however, what he does express foremostly, is gratitude to see that Watson is safe. Watson is only in this dangerous predicament because of him.
Holmes has already tried to negotiate with Moriarty, requesting Watson to be entirely left out of the equation as he is now a married man and the partnership between them is thus dissolved - and failed, on behalf of Moriarty’s lack of empathy.
Moriarty is actively trying to target Watson in the train action sequence that occurs earlier in the film, to get to Holmes because he knows how important Watson is to him. Watson has, indeed, come to Holmes’ rescue as is seen above, but it’s the fact that Watson is alive and well that gives Holmes peace. The entire mission is, to Holmes, equal amounts about attempting to outsmart Moriarty as well doing his damndest to keep Watson safe.
We have the shoot out sequence following the rescue mission, and then comes the next four gifs. Note that Holmes has, at this point, been visciously tortured by Moriarty; suspended into the air by a giant hook dug into his shoulder/upper torso. He’s severly wounded, and we can see throughout the entire chase how he struggles to keep up. He staggers, he winces, he’s in pain and bleeding profusely.
Still, Holmes’ focus is not on what happens to him - it’s keeping Watson unscathed. Look at how Holmes actively shifts to shield Watson’s vulnerable areas with his own body, and his face with his hand. Holmes is not concerned about his own injuries, and the very real prospect that he might die - he’s trying, again, to to make sure Watson is takes as few hits as possible.
Finally, following the sequence where the gang is hunted in the woods, we have the huge explosion that sends everyone flying.
Holmes is knocked out momentarily, and what is his first reaction once he comes to? Check that Watson is alright, as well as soothing Watson’s concerns about him by reassuring him he’s fine. Later, he hands Watson the weapon as seen above to defend them both from Moran - not merely because he knows he is incapacitated and Watson is an excellent marksman - but because, as you guessed, Watson is more likely to come out on top if he has the weapon.
I sometimes hear people say RDJ is not a very good actor, because he always plays the same character - himself. But, he doesn’t. RDJ is nothing like Tony Stark, or Sherlock Holmes in this case. The nuance and sensibility he adds to his portrayal of Holmes by these tiny consistent acts of affection serve to prove as much.
Holmes is by no means a callous man, in RDJ’s iteration. He’s socially inept, he doesn’t understand society and doesn’t care much for human connections beyond his tiny circle. Moriarty has already murdered Irene Adler at this point - one of the few people whom Holmes did think fondly of - and Holmes knows Watson is going the same route unless he assures otherwise.
Holmes never forgets that this is a matter of life and death, and it is evident from early on that he is not averse to the notion that he may fail and thus meet his end - but he refuses to see Watson suffer the same fate. RDJ makes this clear in the way he constantly steps in front of Jude Law’s Watson, constantly hesitant to let him go unless he’s certain it’s a situation Watson can can handle on his own.
What I wanted to make clear is, how even in this scene that is all about action, we see how Holmes fears for Watson’s life, and how he’s desperate to prevent tragedy. This is what drives him to pull Moriarty with him into the falls of Reichenbach in the climax of the movie - Moriarty once again threatening Watson, and the fact that at the end of the day, Holmes values Watson’s life higher than his own. Holmes is, throughout the movie, time and again shown as willing to die for Watson no matter how he might downplay it. Irene’s death has hit him hard and made him utterly fixated on saving Watson.
Add on top of that the fact that, whether you see it as brotherly or something more, RDJ is phenomenal at portraying Holmes’ tangible affection for Watson. You feel it throughout the film, and moments such as the ones above contribute to showing us why, and how deep that love truly goes.
I just think this movie is criminally underrated, and RDJ gets way less credit than he deserves for the work he puts in. Not to speak of Jude Law, but let’s save that for another day. If you haven’t seen the movie, either in a while or at all, go watch it. Now.

Pairing: Avengers x neutral reader
Warning: angst
Gifs belong to their creators.
Part 2 (Vision, Sam, Pietro, Peter, Bucky and Loki)
AVENGERS REACTION WHEN YOU GET KIDNAPPED:
TONY
Tony would be destroyed. First thing he does: he blames himself. He locks himself up in his office, he doesn't want to see anyone. He spends the whole night thinking about you, about how he could have saved you. He is literally terrorized by the idea of not being able to have you back, he just won't accept a life without you. By the morning, he's totally changed: he will have you back. "Jarvis, I need all the information you can find about these people and a map of their facility. We're getting in and we're not getting out until y/n is right next to me." He commands while finally starting to organize the rescue mission.
STEVE
Steve doesn't need a single moment, he is just mad. He can't believe someone took you. He doesn't waste a second: in a blink of an eye, he's already giving directions to the squad. He knows how important it is that everyone has a precise role, it's fundamental for the mission to succed and this is the most important mission to him. "Is everything clear?" He asks and the squad nodds. He takes a deep breath. "Fine. Let's go save y/n."
THOR
Thor is heartbroken. "No..." He whispers at the news, his eyes staringinto the void. He can't believe he was there and couldn't prevent them taking you. He hates himself for not protecting you the proper way. He sits on a chair, his hands covering his face while he sighs. He thinks about you, about how brave you are, and he finds the strength. "Okay, we need to take y/n back." He simply says, no plan, no waste of time. He grabs his hammer and directly walks outside the building.
NATASHA
Natasha is broken. She immediately fears that something might happen to you. She knows that sometimes death is not the worst thing that can happen to someone and she hates the idea that your kidnappers could hurt you. She questions herself, she thinks that she could have done better. She needs a moment to simply accept the fact that you've been taken away and the only reasonable thing to do at the moment is trying to save you. "Guys, we have to save y/n and we have to do it quick." She says while grabbing her gun, she won't leave you.
WANDA
Wanda would be crazy mad. She just wants to make a mess and have you back. She doesn't even ask anyone for help, she is going to make them pay for believing that they could touch you and her powers are more than enough to do this. She forgets everything, her only thought is getting to you as soon as possible. She moves her fingers, her powers dancing between them while she tilts her head. "I'm coming, baby." She whispers to herself and she knows she's going to save you.

can you do a one shot where we’re with wanda and nat but thor brings valkyrie down to the compound for the first time and we get super flustered and stuttery whenever she talks and flirts with us because cmon we all know valkyrie is a big flirt😩😩🤲🏼 then having wanda and nat are amused but also jealous by our little crush on valkyrie
New Crush?
Pairing: Natasha x Wanda x Reader
Warning: Language, fluff, angst :3
Summary: What happens if you develop a crush on someone else than your girlfriends; Wanda and Natasha.
Word count: 3.7k
My requests are always open so feel more than welcome to pop in a suggestion for the next story :3
⸻⸻⋙☸🗲⋘⸻⸻
Having queer teammates will never be enough, you were first open queer person on the team which was something everyone liked about you, though you were open about your sexuality, you were pretty shit at flirting and that was pretty obvious.
Before Wanda and Natasha, you tried your luck at flirting with women as practice but it failed so horribly when you received a hard slap across your face and then you owned Bucky 20 bucks.
So when you said you sucked, you really sucked. You were beyond happy that the two redheads asked you out first because you would be still single if it was up to you to make a move.
The two women were very possessive over you in the teams eyes, you didn't really mind because you knew the reason behind it, but most of the team was a little worried about you and them.
Whenever there was a party that Tony organised, there were a lot of 'threats', well that was only according to Wanda and Natasha, they disliked how everyone practically drooled over you.
Natasha would be the one who would threaten any man or woman approaching you and Wanda would use her powers to 'gently' move away anyone who gotten too close to you.
The only reason they really became this protective was because of your fear of saying no, there was always something in you that just wanted to say yes to everyone when in reality you wanted to say no.
If someone offered you a drink, you said yes to which you nearly got drugged and god knows what would've happened if Steve didn't save you.
So when you became really close with Wanda and Natasha, you opened up to them and they decided that they will now keep an eye out for you at parties and people around you.
Of course the team didn't know anything about this because you were pretty ashamed of this fear, you didn't want to get laughed at, even if Natasha threatened to punch anyone who would, to which she earned a giggle from you.
You really loved these two women but you were a human being, meaning you might have a crush on other people, to which the two girls were not happy with.
The team was pretty shocked by how they reacted because usually they would be throwing threats left and right at anyone but when Thor brought down Valkyrie they just stared from afar as they observed with death stares..
This had the team very curious to their behaviour so whenever you was around Valkyrie they just observed you and the two women. There was this time where the team almost died of shock...
There was an urgent meeting in the early morning whilst you wanted to sleep, you were forced to get out of the bed to attend this meeting, you were informed by F.R.I.D.A.Y. 5 times already that the meeting is going to start soon.
But the urge to get out of bed was really little, since there was no sign of you anywhere, the redheads where sent to get you before you missed any important information.
Wanda used her powers to unlock your door whilst Natasha barged inside with a sly smile across her lips. She plopped herself on you as you groaned at the extra weight on you.
"Sleepp!" Your raspy voice made itself out of your throat as you sounded like you were a zombie.
Wanda did the opposite of Natasha, she laid next to you as she moved your hair out of your face and just smiled at your relaxed face "You have to get up my love"
You opened one eye to look at her and smiled at the nickname "Say it again"
"Say what again" She repeated herself, she knew what she was doing, she just wanted to keep you awake.
"My love" Even if you were half asleep, the blush across your face was visible.
"My love.." Wanda said it with so much love in her voice which made your heart skip a beat.
"Hello! I am here as well don't forget about me" Natasha made herself known.
You looked at her "Oh I know, I wouldn't forget the weight of a whale on me"
She raised her brows at you, as her mouth opened wide taking offence to your words whilst Wanda giggled "When did you pick up this attitude котенок (kitten)"
"From spending too much time with you" Wanda added as she looked at Natasha with a huge smile.
The redhead rolled her eyes at the both of you as she leaned down to your ear "Call me a whale again and you'll see the punishment that comes with"
You nodded quickly to which she smirked and got off you "If you're not down in 10 minutes and we have to come back again, I wont be so nice котенок (kitten)"
Wanda quickly placed a soft kiss on your cheek and giggled out of the room along with Natasha, leaving you alone again, you really wanted to go back to sleep but you didn't want the Russian to literally drag you out.
You got out and got ready as quick as you could, making your way out of the room and where the meeting was being held, you ended up quick far away from your girlfriends than you would like to but you could only blame yourself for not getting up earlier.
Everyone looks your way which makes you panic a little so you turn around and there was Thor with some girl, she was gorgeous from head to toe, and she noticed you as well.
They both made their way towards the group to which she stood next to you, Thor started his speech to which you tried to listen to but she spoke up.
"What's your name sweetheart" She slightly turned her face to look at you.
A blush was already there on your face when you looked into her eyes "Uh.. Y-y/n"
There was a slight smirk across her face, as she looked away a little and then back at you "Nice to meet you Y/n, I'm Valkyrie but you can call me Val"
You smiled shyly at her and looked at the floor briefly as you nodded, she spoke up again when you didn't reply "Are you doing anything after this?"
You shook your head, your eyes finding hers within seconds, she smiled widely "Could you maybe give me a proper tour?"
It took a second to realise what she just asked, you didn't even think about looking over at your girlfriends, you just nodded "S-sure I wouldn't mind"
Valkyrie bit her bottom lip "Well Thank you princess"
You giggled very awkwardly which didn't go unnoticed by the whole team or the two redheads "Heh- You don't have to thank me"
Valkyrie reached over to your hand as she grabbed it gently and placed a light kiss on your hand "None sense, pretty women like you deserve the world"
Your checks turning a more red colour as you watch her kiss your head, it felt like your brain stopped working and you just nodded at her because words will betray you if you speak.
Steve ended the meeting soon after and before Natasha or Wanda could make their way to you, you were being dragged away by Valkyrie.
Suddenly all of the teams heads turned towards the two redheads as if to expect a reaction, they looked at each other and then back at the team.
Natasha narrowed her eyes "What?"
They all shrugged and mumbled stuff under their noses, slowly scattering all over the place to avoid the black widows stare, shocking each and every one of them to core with their lack of reaction.
This has happened a lot, Valkyrie being all over you and you being okay with it, after that first day, many followed and you were practically all the time busy with her.
She took most of your time which Wanda didn't like, Natasha was more amused by your sudden confidence, usually you would be a mess when it came to choices.
But when you were with her you tried your best to show off as confident which failed so badly, you were a mess around her which only annoyed Wanda more.
She wanted to confront you about it but Natasha kept discouraging her, she trusted you but Wanda started to question it at some point in this whole situation.
"Natasha we can't just stand by and watch as she slowly takes our Y/n away!" Wanda paced around the room.
Natasha was on her phone during Wanda rant, she has been through this with her many times but with each issue raised by Wanda, she slowly started to believe her.
"Mhm" Natasha agreed, not paying attention to what Wanda was saying.
"Would you listen to me!" She raised her voice and soon Natasha's phone went flying across the room.
"Hey! I was reading something" Natasha stood up from the bed as she walked over to Wanda.
"I am talking to you Nat, it's really important" Wanda's voice turned soft as Natasha walked closer.
"I was listening, I understand what you're feeling but you shouldn't question Y/n's trust, you know Y/n would never do something like that" Natasha crossed her arms as she started to explain.
Wanda nodded "I know and I'm not questioning her trust, I just don't like how she talks all about Valkyrie, it's like we are her friends rather than girlfriends"
The Russian looked down for a brief moment and Wanda continued "She doesn't swoon over us anymore, she gets all flustered and all nervous like she was with us at first but now it's nothing"
Natasha shook her head "Okay, that's not true"
"But it is, I haven't seen it at all lately" Now Wanda crossed her arms.
"I'm sure it's not true" Now Natasha tried to sound convincing but something in her was saying that Wanda was right.
"Then prove me wrong" Wanda raised her eyebrow at Natasha "Please..." there was a hint of pain in the plead that came from Wanda.
"Okay, I will show you she still is ours Wands" Natasha had a sad smile across her lips as she pulled Wanda into her.
She kissed the top of Wanda's head as she rubbed her hand down the smaller redheads back, to which you witnessed as you walked inside the room.
Your heart nearly burst at the sight of them being so cute, you wanted to join them but Val was waiting for you along with some teammates, you guys were watching a movie.
"Aww, if we weren't a couple, I would totally ship the two of you together" You spoke up as you stared at them with love in your eyes.
Their heads snapped towards your voice, they pulled away to which you spoke up again "Aww noo, I didn't want to disturb yous"
"You never disturb us котенок (kitten)" Natasha voice made itself known rather quickly, the butterflies in your stomach always been there just by looking at the two women so imagine what their voices did to you.
You nodded with a smile at them as you walked over to take your favourite pillow when you watched movies, Wanda's eyes followed you as she asked "What is it that you are doing my love?"
You looked up at her with a small smile "Me and some of the team are watching a movie so I wanted to get my pillow.."
Wanda nodded "You didn't invite us..?"
Here came the tension, whenever Wanda didn't like something and made her jealousy known, you would always just ignore her for the rest of the day, she always treated you like you weren't allowed to hang out with her around.
You knew it was only because she was scared that if she wasn't there and something happened to you she would blame herself but you had protection, not only the team but Valkyrie.
"Well, I wasn't sure whether yous wanted to, Val will be there and I know that you don't exactly like her, for whatever reason that is" You stood up with your pillow in hand.
"I have a perfect reason Y/n!" Wanda slightly raised her voice.
Natasha sighed "Okay, come on we don't need to fight about this.."
"I'm not fighting, I just don't understand why Val is hated so much by Wanda" You looked at Natasha as you spoke up.
The Sokovian huffed in irritation "She is all over you моя любовь (My love) and you're not doing anything about it. You spend more time with her than us combined"
You rolled your eyes, not really thinking through what she was saying "When you stop being jealous then we can have this conversation Wanda"
"I have enough of this" Wanda threw her hands in the air.
You rolled your eyes again as you walked of the room, this time not saying anything and walked on to the living room where everyone was waiting for you.
The whole movie you couldn't really concentrate, your mind was filled with Wanda and how this whole disagreement went, you love her so much and you would be damned if you lost her but she didn't have to be so rude to you.
But at the same time you weren't the best either, you were just as bitter as she was, you wanted to fix this but maybe not tonight, she needs to calm down and you just wanted to think before going into this conversation.
Valkyrie noticed your absent from the movie, she kept looking over at you, and as soon as the movie finished, you stood up as you made your way to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
Natasha followed you into the kitchen as she smirked, Wanda wasn't far from the kitchen to see how this would play out, she was standing with Vision, Bucky and Steve.
There was always something about Natasha that just screamed top energy but when she really wanted to she was the most softest person you could meet.
She slowly made her way towards you with a small smile across her lips as she hugged you gently from behind, placing her hands where you always relaxed into her "I hate it when you're sad детка (baby)"
You leaned into her hug with your back against her front "I'm more disappointed than sad Talia"
She placed a soft kiss on your neck as she spoke again "have I told you, you're the most beautiful woman alive?"
You chuckled slightly as you nodded "Yeah you did but you always said that to Wanda many times"
Natasha smiled against your neck "Well because the two of you rock my world"
Natasha's compliments always had you stuttering and flustered but with time you have gotten used to those love filled compliments even if they still make your heart skip a beat.
"How about we take a wine bottle up to the roof and just talk about everything?" Natasha spoke when silence slowly settled.
You moved out of the hug as you faced her, with a sad smile "Not tonight"
You placed a gentle kiss on her cheek as you walked out with a tin of cookies, you looked up at Wanda who looked like she was ready to approach you but you just continued on.
Valkyrie observed the scene that unfolded and as soon as you walked away, she followed you. Wanda didn't want to cause more trouble than it already has happened so she let Valkyrie follow you even if she wanted to literally lock her in some closet.
You sat on the roof with your cookies and some drink that you managed to grab from the party room, you looked out into the city and how each of the lights made it look so much prettier.
Valkyrie observed you for some time before making her way to sit next to you "Pretty women like you should never be left alone"
You looked up at Val as you smiled at her words, you were debating if opening your mouth was a good idea so instead she spoke up again "So tell me pretty woman what's bothering you"
You looked away from her because if you were going to speak up, you didn't want to stutter "I had a fight with Wanda.."
Val nodded "Your other girlfriend?"
You nodded as you continued "Her jealousy is really tiring"
"How so" She asked as she turned her whole body towards you.
"Her constant doubt makes me go crazy, I just really want her to trust me and my choices in life, she's not even acting like a girlfriend but a mother or some shit" You explained as you looked down at your hands.
Valkyrie moved closer to you as her fingers found your chin, making you look at her "Y/n you deserve someone who will never doubt their love for you, it makes my heart break just seeing you so sad"
You swallowed hardly as you stared into her eyes, even if you told Valkyrie many times that you were taken, she still tried her best to make you fall for her, it would work if you weren't so in love with the two dorky redheads.
"She doesn't doubt in the love between us-" You tried to speak up but Val only put her finger on your lips to shush you.
"I would never spend a second in my life doubting my love for you, you are the most smartest, funniest and nerdy woman I have ever met and I wish you would look at me the same way you look at them"
You started to feel the blush appear on your face, you smiled at her "I don't doubt but they have my heart Val, I have already told you that"
She dropped her hand from your chin as she nodded "I know, You will always have my heart Y/n if that's something you would want"
You smiled at her being so understanding and gentle with this "You're an amazing friend Val and I'm sure that one day you'll find someone who will want you right away instead of making you wait for something that might not happen"
She smiled at your words as she placed her hand on top of yours "You should talk to her before things get worse and you lose her forever"
"I will but at the moment I want to finish my drink and sit here for couple more hours before going back to that issue"
She nodded as she was ready to get up but you stopped her "W-would you stay with me for now? I don't want to be alone"
She nodded with no hesitation as she let you place your head on her shoulder, as the both of you looked out into the city, admiring the view and enjoying this quiet moment.
After couple hours, you finally had enough energy and courage to speak to Wanda, you walked inside the shared room where Natasha was laying down with her laptop on her lap and Wanda with a book.
You sighed as you cleared your throat, making yourself known to the two redheads, they both looked up at you at the same time, you walked over to Wanda's side as you sat on the edge.
Even though you smelt like cookies and some alcohol, you felt like you had enough courage to finally speak out "Can we talk?"
Wanda stared at you for a moment "You're drunk"
You shook your head "No, I just had one glass but I want to talk because I don't want to go bed with this issue unsolved"
Wanda wanted to refuse but Natasha agreed for her, especially since she knew there wouldn't be another opportunity to solve this "Yes we can talk and solve this"
"You were right Wands, I don't spend time with yous anymore and I hate myself for leaving yous behind like that"
Wanda looked at you as you spoke "That's not the issue here Y/n/n, you can have friends and spend crazy amounts of time with them but at least be honest with us"
You looked at her confused "Honest about what?"
"That you no longer love us, we at least deserve this" She looked into your eyes with pain.
You shook your head as you took her hand into yours "I never stopped loving yous"
Natasha smiled at your words as she knew she was right, Wanda questioned once again "So why is she all over you Y/n/n?"
"She knows yous have my heart and every second of my attention, I could never fall for anyone else apart from yous, she likes me but I don't feel anything towards her"
Natasha raised her brows "So she doesn't take hint? Do you want me to tell her something so she can back off?"
You giggled at her "No baby, I can manage with her you don't need to threat anyone"
"I'm sorry my love, I never doubted in you but I was just scared that I would lose you, you and the redhead over here are my whole world I'm really sorry for how I behaved" Wanda's grip on your hand tightened.
You smiled as Natasha frowned "What do you mean redhead over here? For you I am Солнечный свет (sunshine)"
You and Wanda looked over at Natasha as you giggled at her being offended, Wanda nodded as she placed a light kiss on Nats cheek to which she smiled proudly.
You stared at them with so much love in your eyes "I am completely in love with the pair of you"
It has taken back the redheads as now they tried to form words, their butterflies being so strong that now you giggled "Now yous have the nervous, this is a first"
Natasha chuckled "we are in love with you just as much Y/n/n"
You smiled as you squeezed yourself in between the two girls as they showered you in kisses, for the first time in a while, you felt like life was getting better within seconds and finally being able to feel like you are on top of the world with the two most important women.

“Alright gang, this one’s for all of us, we all listening?”
A cluster of ‘yes’ ‘go on’ ‘come on Tony’ filled the room, everyone eager to hear what the fancy envelope held inside. It was amusing to watch Tony take advantage of everyone’s excitement, slowly peeling the envelope, gasping when he pulled the letter out of the casing slightly, not letting anyone else see what was written on it.
You, Natasha and Wanda all seemed to share a look of amusement at the dramatics and the almost visible frustration coming off of everyone. It was like watching children try to wait patiently for sweets in a shop, almost completely off of their seats. It wasn’t until Tony noticed that Pepper was giving him a warning look, that he, begrudgingly, hurried up and announced what was written on the letter.
“Wow. Caleb’s getting married.” He spoke, eyebrows raised in surprise. “And he’s invited the team.”
“Well, I’m not going.” A voice spoke from the corner of the room, clearly un-amused by what was currently going on.
“Luckily for you, I don’t see ‘reindeer games’ anywhere on the invitation. So you’re off the hook.” He replied with a tight lipped smile, Thor had been visiting recently to see Jane and pay the avengers a visit and wanted to bring Loki to meet her.
‘A pleasant trip’ Thor said.
‘A living hell’ Tony corrected.
It got a laugh out of the team though. Nat and I especially. We’d spent the last couple of nights in each other’s bedrooms, making a list about our favourite moments through the day where Tony and Loki clashed, making stupid insults towards the other. I think it’s safe to say that we went through multiple bags of popcorn over the nights, though you were both thankful it was there, it was the only thing muffling the laughter, if it hadn't, you’re almost certain the entire compound would have woken up at the sound of our laughter.
You nudged Natasha’s side gently, the bicker between the two men still continuing.
“Hey, Nat.” She turned and tilted her head questioningly.
“So we know how a physical fight between those two worked out. But, if they had to compete in a rap battle, who do you think would win?”
Her face immediately lit up, eyes sparkling which only enhanced their beauty, you could almost feel the cogs turning in her head, trying to go through every logical option.
“Well. Loki seems pretty well spoken, so vocabulary wise, I think he’d be strong. But Tony is sarcastic which can help with quick quips. But then again, Loki-”
“Hey lovebirds, Romanoff, Y/L/N” Tony clicked his fingers, earning himself a pair of eyerolls at the term he’d used. “Anything you wanna share with the team, or can we move on?”
“Actually-”
“Overridden. Moving on.”
You looked towards Natasha, snickering slightly at how blunt he’s being, Loki having found his way under his skin again. A part of you felt bad for the man, but that feeling is soon replaced by amusement. It was obvious Nat felt the same way, her sharing the same expression as you, although, you could hide yours much better. She had to physically put her hand over her mouth in the hopes the man wouldn’t notice her.
“So, the wedding is next week, a little short notice but when do we ever have enough notice, who’s in?”
Looking around the room, there were a handful of nods, each looking to see who else was going to go. You looked towards Nat again to see if she was planning on attending, only to find her already staring at you.
“So Y/L/N, up for a wedding?”
“It would be a nice change of pace. Are you going?”
“Only if you are” You blushed slightly at the response.
“Better get your nicest dress on Romanoff.” You winked, her turn to blush and focus back on what the rest of the group was saying.
“It’s probably easy if I list couples first on the RSVP and then the singles.” Tony took a glance around the table, mentally taking note of those who had shown signs of agreement. “So there’ll be Wanda and Vision, Legolas and his wife, Romanoff and Y/L/N, Thor and Jane-” You felt your face morph into one of confusion.
“Woah woah, Tony, back up, what did you say?”
“Thor and Jane, they’re-”
“Before that.”
“I’ve said this before Y/N, Legolas isn’t actually real. I meant Clint.”
“Very funny.” He held a proud smirk. “Romanoff and I aren’t a couple”
You wish.
“That’s not what Rogers said when he saw you both cuddling up on the sofa last night.” Before you had a chance to look in Steve’s direction, you could practically feel the daggers Nat was sending him, making his face cringe slightly and his back straighten.
“That’s what Rogers said, is it?” She spoke, tilting her head in question. You knew she was partly joking, but you’d still decided to intervene before anyone lost any limbs.
“My head fell onto her shoulder when I dozed off during our movie. It wasn’t ‘cuddling’ , thank you very much.” You laughed, internally wishing that Steve’s words were true.
“See? So cut it out.” Steve put his hands up in surrender, despite having a cheeky grin on his face.
“Okay okay. Fine!” The billionaire said, writing something on the envelope. “I’ll just put ‘couple pending’” He muttered
“Stark!”
__________________________
You and the girls had just come back from dress shopping, all three of you had spent the whole day in and out of different shops, hours in dressing rooms and your voices were almost completely gone with how often you were telling each other, ‘that looks stunning’ ‘that’s the one!’ and the most common one by the end of the trip; ‘please just pick a dress so we can go home and nap’. That one was from our very own black widow, her patience wore a little thin after 8 hours of staring at dresses.
You had gone through all the colours and styles while you were out, ranging from classy jumpsuits to figure hugging dresses that felt like a second skin. Wanda and Natasha had chosen their dresses and were eager to find you one, and what a mission that was.
“I promise you, we’re not going home until we find this dress, okay?”
“Wanda’s right. We’ll stay out until they all shut if we have to. But, let’s make that a last resort.” Natasha eyed you both warily.
You’d been walking around for hours now. Each dress you tried on had potential, but there was always something that didn’t sit right with you. It was either too baggy, too tight, the cut wasn’t appealing, the length wasn’t ideal, it was starting to feel hopeless. You’d even suggested just going in your pyjamas, but Wanda’s death glare had made it clear that wasn’t an option.
You and Natasha were both dragging your feet, Wanda still having a slight spring in her step as you walked into the final shop and picking up a couple of dresses before then going into the dressing room to try them on.
The first two were okay, but you weren’t a fan. Then there was the third one. The third one was a gorgeous Y/F/C dress that fell just past your knees, it had thin straps and the skirt was simple and loose so that when you spun around in it, you felt like a princess. You looked in the mirror and you adored the reflection, you still wanted the others opinions though, though you didn’t doubt that they’d feel the same way.
Pulling the curtain back and gaining their attention from where they were looking elsewhere, you smiled when you saw their reaction, more specifically, Natasha’s. Wanda was complimentary, walking up and feeling the fabric, gushing about how beautiful you looked, but you barely heard it, too focused on the redhead sitting in front of you, her eyes glazed over and her jaw almost on the floor, completely zoned out on you.
“This dress is it, Y/N, you have to get it! Nat? What do you think?” Her head shook, bringing herself back to reality and briefly meeting your eyes, only to quickly dart between You, Wanda and your dress in an attempt to compose herself.
“Yeah, I mean, wow, you look- wow.” Her hands flailed in your direction. You’d knocked the assassin speechless. Wanda rolled her eyes playfully at the interaction. She’d known about you and Nat’s feelings for each other for a month or two now, silently cursing the both of you when there was an opportunity to confess, yet never did. It was obvious to the rest of the team, why were neither of you picking up on it?
Keeping quiet, she ushered you back into the changing room, much to Natasha’s relief, both because she wanted to head back to the compound and she wasn’t sure how much longer she would’ve lasted seeing you standing there looking literally flawless. She always thought you looked amazing, but there was something about the way you looked in front of her just then that made her brain feel like a haze.
It was pretty safe to say,
You bought the dress.
Collapsing on your bed, dropping your bags to the side and letting out a loud sigh, you heard your door shut and someone fall into the chair by the window. You already knew who it was.
“I’m exhausted.” The woman groaned, rubbing her hands up and down her face to attempt to physically remove the tiredness from her body.
“Sorry for dragging you around for so long, I just-”
“Hey, no, don’t apologise for that. We all said we’d find the perfect dress, and it was worth the wait.” Heat rose to your cheeks at her words.
“You really think I looked good?”
Natasha could sense your underlying tone of doubt, unsure as to why you would doubt her opinion, she’d always been honest with you. Nonetheless, she heaved herself out of her seat and made her way to the end of the bed, kneeling down so that your now sat up figure could look down into her eyes, with her hands on each side of your face to focus you on her and her alone.
“I wouldn’t lie to you, okay? You looked incredible and I'm sure you’ll look even better at this wedding on Saturday, if that’s even possible.” You let out a small chuckle at her words as a smile made its way onto her face.
“You’ll be the prettiest one there.”
“Better not tell the Bride you said that, Nat.” She laughed, looking down for only a few seconds before looking at you again.
“We’ll make that our secret.” You nodded in silent agreement, grateful that she’d made you feel so reassured.
“Thank you, Tasha.”
“You’re more than welcome, sweetheart.” She replied.
You were so lost in her words, you hadn’t realised how close her face had gotten to yours, and how her eyes swapped between your eyes and your lips. You didn’t realise how she subconsciously had kept edging towards you, hands trembling a little with every inch closer she gets.
She wanted to kiss you. Every nerve in her body was almost electrified with the temptation to just move her lips over yours and become one. Her pulse raced, almost to prepare her for doing so. Which is why she wanted to kick herself with a pair of her highest heels when she uttered her next words.
“We should get some sleep.”
You broke out of your trance, jumping backwards slightly when noticing limited space between you both. You awkwardly coughed as she stood, heading back over to her chair to grab her bag and return to her room.
“Yeah, yeah of course. Big today, rest is probably a good idea.” You both nodded, she was already one foot out of the door when she gave you a small ‘goodnight’ and left, not waiting to hear you say it back.
Just like you hadn’t realised her actions early, you were oblivious to her hitting her head off of the wall in the corridor just outside of your room, wondering why she’d backed away. Where was Thor’s hammer when you needed to knock some sense into yourself? She thought before dragging herself back to her room where she would fall asleep, unable to get you out of her head.

“Right! Headcount before we go in! And I want us all on our best behaviour Avengers, this is a wedding” Steve had completely lost you after ‘Headcount’. Not only are most of you fully grown adults, sorry Peter, but he seems to be oblivious to the fact that some of you were wearing high heels, and patience in high heels had an expiry date.
“Y’know, if he doesn’t let us in soon, I’m not afraid to threaten him with his own shield.” You heard a whisper just behind your ear, smirking at the comment.
“I’ll join you.” You answered, Bruce and Clint sharing a knowing look from afar when watching the two of you have your own quiet conversation, though short lived when they saw Natasha’s head move in their direction, their gaze coming to a halt so as to avoid any conflict with their teammate.
You guys could try to hide it all you want, but your entire team knows better than that, they just had to wait it out until you both finally admitted it to the other.
______________________
You and the Avenger’s were currently sitting at a guest table, now in the reception part of the evening. The ceremony was beautiful, the bride wore a crisp white ball gown with her makeup and hair done to perfection, the groom looking like a prince in his black tux and a look full of adoration towards his wife to be painted on his face.
Their looks weren’t the best part of it though. The clothes and the accessories were lovely, of course. But all you could focus on was the love shared between them as they shared their vows telling the other how they believed they were each other's soulmate, and that they promised to always be the other’s rock. You’d found yourself with tears in your eyes, barely able to appreciate the sight with how blurry your vision was now. They finally fell when they said their ‘I do’s’, feeling only happiness for the newlyweds.
Although marriage hadn’t been something you always thought about, you’d hoped that you would meet your special someone and settle down, retire from the missions, the battles, the superhero lifestyle and just be with your soulmate for the rest of your days.
Despite not being a couple, whenever you thought of the person you wanted to spend the rest of your time with, there was only one person that came to mind. And she stood right in front of you throughout the ceremony, comforting a sobbing demi-god while he was also trying to explain to Vision why he was in floods of tears.
Music filled the room, upbeat, but calm enough for the couples on the dancefloor to sway gently to the beat, soft lights occasionally shining on them as they danced, the bride and groom being one of them. You smiled gently at the sight, feeling dreadfully single with all of the love in the room, but grateful that you could see so many people look so content and in love with their significant other.
An elbow could suddenly be felt in your side, pulling you from your thoughts to instead be met with gorgeous green eyes and a bold red smirk.
“Penny for your thoughts?” She leaned in, curiosity clouding her mind.
“Nothing much up there really.” You glanced back at the dance floor quickly. “I’m just happy to see everyone so happy.”
Natasha followed your direction of where you were looking, an idea soon popped into her head. She was going to ask you to dance.
Her mouth opened to speak, but as if it was done on purpose, a ‘screech’ echoed in the ballroom, catching everyone’s attention, including taking yours away from hers.
“We’re taking a break from dancing for a minute folks, It’s time for the bride to throw the bouquet!” He announced, soon followed by shrieks and the sound of feet padding on the wooden floor, women all gathering in a small bunch, huddled together as if their lives depended on it as the men all returned to their seats, shaking their heads at the commotion.
Not really wanting to take part, you turned back around again.
“Sorry Nat, what were you-”
“Y/N!” Your head fell as you were interrupted by a very excited Maximoff.
“Y/N! C’mon! We need to do the bouquet toss!” She started to pull you up, refusing to listen to any excuse you could possibly conjure up to avoid having to take part.
Giving the team a desperate look, hoping someone will help you escape, you’re instead met with encouraging and amused faces, including Natasha’s a clear indication that not a single person was going to help you. Traitor’s.
With a half serious eye roll, you quickly grabbed your glass of champagne and kicked off your heels, heading towards the group of screaming women basically crawling on top of one another when the bride was barely up on the ‘stage’ yet. You let Wanda wander off into the group but remained towards the back, sipping from your glass and sending the occasional sneaky glare towards your table.
“You guys ready?” The bride yelled, only to be met with more screams and a faint chorus of ‘yes’ heard among it as they all threw their hands higher. Wanda saw you were just stood there, and subtly used her powers to raise your hand, earning loud laughs and cheers from the Avengers, taking great joy in the scene unfolding in front of them.
“Okay! Three...Two..”
You kept your arm up, pretending to be enthusiastic about the toss, when you realistically didn’t really expect much from these kinds of traditions. What you definitely hadn’t expected, was for your figure to stumble backwards as you suddenly felt petals and stems in your palm, a faint feeling of silk brushing against your thumb as your fingers wrapped around the item.
You almost spat out your champagne, eyes widening in shock as you looked to see the arrangement of flowers in your grip, looking up to see women both disheartened and elated at your catch. How the hell had you managed that? You were literally the farthest person away, and on your own! You must’ve been set up. Okay, a bit of a stretch, but still!
“WOOO, Y/L/N IS GETTING MARRIED!”
“WHO’S THE LUCKY SOMEONE Y/N?”
“Y/N CAUGHT THE FLOWERS, Y/N CAUGHT THE FLOWERS.”
The bride noticeably laughed at your friend’s cheers, she hadn’t meant to throw it that far back, her arm just kinda went full force, but seeing the reaction it caused, she didn’t regret it. She didn’t even regret it when she saw the look of embarrassment on your face, as it was soon replaced with a contagious beam as you walked towards them again, a very proud Wanda in tow,
“Guys! Guys! I’m not even in a relationship! I highly doubt i’m the next woman in this room to get married.” You joked
“Well, I wouldn’t be so sure.” Sam laughed “Romanoff, you got an engagement ring handy?” He yelped as a peanut from the centre of the table was thrown at him, and of course with being a trained assassin, Nat had hit him right in the centre of his forehead, earning a dramatic noise of pain to leave his mouth.
These guys will be the death of you.
__________________
After some teasing, the room had filled once again with happy couples dancing, now including some you were very familiar with, one being a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist and his CEO wife, and another being an Asgardian with his Midgardian girlfriend, both gently moving side to side in time with the music.
Letting out a content sigh, you were met once again with the flowers, however, this time, they weren’t on the table, but were held by a gorgeous woman in a flawless navy dress.
“So, I know we aren’t a couple, but, would the future bride like to dance?” She asked, you let out a content sigh, pretending to think it over for a minute.
“Y’know what, I would, thank you for your kind offer.” You took the hand she’d held out for you and led you to the dance floor. While her hands went to your waist, gently tugging you closer, your arms went around her neck, hands interlocking behind her as you, like the others you’d admired all even, swayed.
You’re unsure when it happened, much like a time before, but your head had made its way onto your dance partner's shoulder, your body following suit as it left no room between the two of you, though you weren’t complaining. Neither was the fellow Avenger.
It was peaceful for a period of time, the only sound being the slow music and a quiet chatter of people across the floor. It wasn’t long before you heard the red head above you whisper in your ear once again.
“You really do look amazing tonight, Y/N.” You raised your head so it was directly opposite hers, sending her an appreciative gaze.
“That future fiance of yours is lucky.” She winked.
“Hilarious” You scoffed, fully aware of her humorous tone.
“I know, sometimes I amaze even myself with my jokes.”
“Well, it really is funny, because I honestly don’t see myself getting married anytime soon.” Nat’s eyebrows raised in what could almost be described as confusion.
“And why is that? Do you not want to get married?” Her hands started grazing up and down your waist, like she was comforting you, but really she was bracing herself for what was incoming.
“No, no it’s not that. I just..”
“Just?”
“I don’t think the person i’m interested in, is necessarily interested in me.” Her heart dropped. So you did have someone of interest. She pushed the sinking feeling to the side quickly so that she could respond.
“Right, and why is that?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never seen them make a move. I thought it’d be obvious. I think it has been to some others.” Your eyes wandered, lingering for longer than what was probably appropriate, on Natasha’s plump lips, wondering if you’d ever get to experience what it’d be like to feel them on yours.
This time, Natasha didn’t miss it. She would’ve blamed it on alcohol, saying that she must’ve just imagined it, but she had only consumed a few drops all evening, being too entranced by you didn’t leave much room for hydration. She hadn’t been more thankful, because it made a light bulb go off in her head as the pieces came together in her head of who you were referring to. She didn’t make a move the other night. It was obvious to the team. How could she have been so blind?
You didn’t see it coming, even when your chin was held in her grasp and you saw her face leaning in towards yours, the reality only hitting you when you finally felt what you’d been wanting to feel for the last months, right now. Your surroundings had just disappeared, the only thing that was running through your head, was the way her lips were moving against yours, and the way her lips tasted faintly of vanilla, and how she smelled like her floral perfume she wore for special occasions.
Whooping and cheering brought you both back from your bubble with just the two of you, your head falling just below her chin, her hand stroking your back as you could feel her chuckle bubbling where your head lay. Well, hid. Her arms had muffled their comments, but you had an idea of what they were, probably a mixture of ‘finally!’, ‘i knew it!’ and you’re almost certain you heard a ‘You owe me 20 bucks.’, that one making you shake your head.
Remaining in your hiding spot, that wasn’t very well hidden, but was keeping your bright red face to yourself, a pair of familiar lips lingered right beside your head.
“So, about that bouquet..”
You weren’t getting married, but by the end of the night, you definitely didn’t feel so dreadfully single as you had earlier.

Biggest Loss on the Battlefield (Tony Stark X Son!Reader)
Chatacters: Tony Stark X Son!Reader
Universe: Marvel, Avengers
Warnings: Spoilers of Endgame, death
Request: can i ask a fic when reader who is tony's son is the one to make the snap in the end and it get really angtsy,(don't worry i already prepare the tissue ;) .Love ya!!!)
Tony’s reaction to seeing you in that moment was to just run. It didn’t matter that his body was screaming to rest, it didn’t matter that he was on a battlefield. Nothing else had mattered, because for that moment, he saw you, his son, with the gauntlet on, ready to snap your fingers. His parental instincts took over, like it had done many times over as you had grown up; when you stumbled as a toddler, when you nearly fell out of a tree as a kid, when you nearly walked into oncoming traffic on accident. He just ran at you, calling your name, trying to get to you in time, however this time, he didn’t get to you in time.
Snap.
Tony was halted by the bright light, before it eventually faded. He looked around, seeing for a slight moment, the sight of your body crumbling to the floor, and he started running to your side again. He eventually found you. You were on your knees, not able to hold yourself up. Tony got onto his knees, grabbing your shoulders, and sitting you up, letting you rest your weight on him. “It’s okay, I’ve got you.” He assured you, looking over your shoulder to have a look at you.
Burns, running up your arm, all over your face, and most of your chest. The snap destroyed half of your body, yet you were somehow still alive. He could hear your laboured breathing. and as he used his hand to get a better look at your face and to make you look at him, your eyes moved, and he could feel your pulse, though it was weak. You were too weak to talk. Seeing you like this, knowing that this was, without a doubt, his last moments with you...soul crushing. However, he didn’t want you to see that. So he smiled. “You should be proud of yourself, son. I’m so proud of you.” He told you. He saw the faint turn up on your lips at those words, though it made it harder for Tony to keep up the smile. His eyes burned, begging him to cry, but he took a deep breath in, kept smiling, and held you close.
The others approached the scene, some staying further away than others, though those at the front were the Avengers who knew you so well, Peter, and your mother, who came the closest. She came, kneeling in front of you, stroking your cheek. She also put on a brave smile. “You can relax now, honey. You did it. You saved the world.” She told you, barely a whisper.
Tony held you even closer, his head tucked into your neck, where he could hear your breathing, and his hands around your chest, feeling your chest raise and lower, and he felt and heard as your breathing slowed, until you didn’t take in another breath. As soon as he got that confirmation, he let himself start to sob. He felt his friends come and try to comfort him, though there was no attempt to pry you from him. Pepper came around, wrapping her arms around her husband and you, and everyone stood in utter silence, in respect of the biggest hero, and the biggest lost on that battlefield.
Hope you like it! If you have any questions, please send them in!

Wanda x Reader - The one and only
Gif is not mine, another day falling in love with her.
Summary: You have always loved Wanda in secret. When Vision dies, she loves you back. But you are also the one who can bring him back. Prompt from @stay-casual
Warnings: Fluff, angst, death, insinuation and brief mention of smut (no sex though)
Words: 13.036k // Read on AO3 too
Marks: @mionemymind @abimess
Notes: Hope everyone like this, let me know if you don’t. Sorry for any typos.
//-//
You loved someone who was not meant for you.
It was a bitter truth you had to accept.
Being an enhanced human, a Hydra experiment, and having spent years under physical and psychological torture by Nazi doctors, pain was not exactly something you were unaware of. You got used to it. You were always down to earth anyway, accepting things as they were.
When you joined the Avengers, you just hoped to help those in need, figuring your days of emotional stress were over.
But then you met Wanda Maximoff.
She was something you didn't understand in the first instant. When she tried to get inside your head, fighting as your enemy, you resisted and almost broke her neck. You saw fear in her eyes, and realized in that second that you would never again try anything that would hurt her. When her brother fought you, and you saw her worried expression, you surrendered. Steve and Tony scolded you for letting them get away, but you just tried to understand why your heart was racing when the witch looked at you before she escaped.
You fail to save Pietro however, and had to watch Wanda collapse. Never, even after so many battles, you felt so helpless.
But you did everything in your power to be there for Wanda. S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't want to allow it, but you used all the favors they owed you to get Pietro's body not treated as an experiment, but as a civilian. And then you organized the whole memorial service. You didn't speak to Tony for two weeks, because he simply wasn't interested in the matter and you wanted to punch him in the face every time you remembered.
The ceremony was simple and small, and while Wanda was finishing paying her respects alone, you took the dirty dishes into the kitchen. Natasha was sitting at the counter and nodded slightly when you entered.
"You care about her." She said after a moment. You continued to wash the dishes, without sketching any reaction.
"Yes."
"No denying it?" she teases, but you remain impassive.
"I have no reason to lie to you, Natasha." You say with a smile. "We are friends, I trust you."
"Are you complimenting me to make me feel guilty for teasing you?"
"Maybe." You say laughing lightly, and Nat smiles.
"Something's bothering you." She says after a moment. You sigh, finished washing the glasses to turn around. You cross your arms and lean your back on the sink.
"If I hadn't organized everything, you would all treat Pietro like an experiment." You say seriously and Nat looks away. "I guess I was just disappointed in the way you all acted about it. Pietro was our teammate, and he sacrificed himself for Clint. If I didn't say or do anything, he'd be in a lab right now."
"You're right." Nat says next, holding your gaze. "But I don't know what to say. Everything has settled down now, and honestly most of us wouldn't have the power to get his body back."
You let out an impatient sigh.
"Right, Natasha." You interrupt and she blinks at your serious posture, but you just have an almost disappointed look on your face. "I should have known that you guys pick the fights you're going to fight. I just hoped that all members of the team would have the same importance."
"Y/N..."
But you just give her a sad smile, and turn around, leaving the kitchen. When you walked back to Pietro's grave area, you noticed that Wanda was kneeling on the ground, leaving some flowers. Vision was beside her, and when she stood up, she allowed him to hug her. Swallowing the bitter feeling in your stomach, you forced yourself to think that you were glad that he was there for her.
//-//
It doesn't take long for you to realize that you are in love with Wanda. It's not in your place to confess it, though.
She is your friend, and your teammate. And more importantly, she is in a relationship with Vision. You were never the jealous type, because you were never possessive, and honestly, you just hoped that Wanda would be happy. And if Vision was responsible for that, that was enough for you.
When Steve and Tony start fighting, and the team splits up, there is not the slightest possibility that you will stand up to Wanda. So you throw your weapons on the ground, and Tony looks at you incredulously.
"Have you lost your mind?" He asks.
"I'm not going to fight with my friends." You say simply turning your back on him as you walk to the other side of the parking lot.
"She really changed sides in the middle of the fight?" You hear the boy dressed in red ask impressed. But you don't care.
"If the deal divides us, there's something wrong with it" You tell Steve when he accepts you as an ally. He smiles and then you are helping him, not fighting any of your companions, just deflecting blows and preventing them from hurting you.
Natasha lands a punch to your face, and your natural instinct is to knock her down. Before you can apologize, she assumes a provocative expression.
"Too bad I wasn't Wanda." She sneers and you roll your eyes, assuming a defensive stance as she stands up.
"I don't want to fight you, Tasha" You say as you defend the blows. "Please, this isn't right."
"You don't just want to stand against your girlfriend." She taunts almost hitting a blow to your face, but you hold her leg up in the air.
"Why are you insisting on this?"
She releases herself from your grip, and you return to defending her attempts to punch you.
"I just don't think it's fair."
"What are you talking about?"
"You should tell her. Wanda should know." She explains and then you hold her fist closed, preventing her from hitting you. She tries with her other hand, but you stop her again, restraining her. Your faces are close together.
"No." You say seriously as she tries to break your grip. "She doesn't need to know."
"You deserve to be happy too." She says before breaking free by hooking her legs around your waist. You loosen her wrists to avoid being knocked over as you struggle.
"Tell her" Nat ordered again and you let out a sigh, knocking her to the floor and falling on top.
"She has already found her soulmate" You reply with a sad smile, immobilizing Natasha "Now please stop fighting".
Nat hits you in the ribs, and you let out a grunt of pain. She manages to immobilize you next.
"You are unbelievable." She comments with a slight smile, and then she lets you go. "Always making me make the worst choices, darling."
You laugh in surprise when Nat helps you up. You think Tony is complaining that it is not fair that people switch sides in the middle of the fight, but you are not listening. You watch Vision and Wanda interact from some distance away. And then you are helping Steve to the plane.
//-//
The fight is over and you are laughing, but not with happiness.
The government wants to arrest anyone who didn't escape from the parking lot, and they are coming. So you are holding Tony Stark by the neck.
"No one is going to touch her." You warn him, and there is only fear and surprise in the man's eyes, "How can you treat your friends like that?"
You saved James Rhodes' life during the fight, and so this is what you use against Tony.
He laughs when you put him down.
"What exactly are you asking me for?"
"Time."
"You made that choice when you chose your side."
"That's too easy for you to say, isn't it, Tony?" you retort with irony. "If you take off the armor, you are no longer Iron Man, and the deal doesn't affect you. We don't all have that choice."
Tony looks at you with annoyance. And then he puts his hand to his ear.
"They've gone north." He warns the agents over the communicator. You look at him one last moment before turning, running back outside.
"Vision, let her go." You warn the man and he looks at you in surprise, probably trying to understand why Tony let you go.
"I don't understand."
"They're up north, Vision." Tony says appearing at his side. "We couldn't reach the fugitives in time. Our colleagues have fled north."
Vision gives Tony one last look before letting go of Wanda's arm.
As Wanda walks over to you, you signal to your the rest of the captain's team that you have also been contained. You find the Ant-Man is injured.
"They also stole the transport vehicle in warehouse 23, the keys were in the cabin." Vision says next and you exchange a look with him, thanking him. And then you run.
//-//
Being an out-of-state fugitive is quite stressful, but you get used to it.
There are no fixed locations, or very long term accommodations, but you try to stay positive about the whole thing.
You all can't stay together, so you have a cell phone that connects to Steve's and Sam's. You stayed in the same hotel room as Wanda for three weeks, then Vision contacted her.
They were trying, and then you let her try it alone. Natasha agreed to run away with you, and you made sure to check on Wanda every week, but she was always fine.
T'Challa agrees to let you stay in Wakanda for a while after the government almost captures you.
Your powers are difficult to control after the agents hit you with a strange weapon, and the people of Wakanda seem to be the only ones able to help you.
You don't like to owe favors, but you think they are good people.
Bucky is free when you meet him. You become close again, and it is good to see him rest.
It is Shuri who discovers where your abilities come from, and you finally understand why you have always felt connected to Wanda and Vision. Your energy came from one of the jewels, as did their power. You don't know how Hydra got access to this, and you don't understand why Thor doesn't tell you all the things humans don't understand, but you realize that these mystical stones are too dangerous.
You talk to Shuri, and then to the council and the king of Wakanda. They all agree that no human should have access to such power. You help her build a machine that can separate the stone and Vision's body.
"How do we destroy it?" you ask her as you are putting the finishing touches on the equipment.
"Maybe you can." She says and you deny it with your head.
"No, I don't think I can." You say. "But maybe Wanda can. It's her thing, and it's her stone too."
Shuri nods and you get back to work.
Unfortunately, events move faster than you do.
//-//
There is an army controlled by a purple man.
That is the only information Steve gives you through the communicator. You hugged Wanda tight when she arrived in Wakanda, and she was happy to see you, but she also seemed upset. You knew it was because of Vision.
"Hey buddy, it's going to be okay." You told him with a smile as you helped him climb into the machine you built.
"Thanks, Y/N" Vision said to you.
You didn't stop fighting for the next few hours.
There was a moment, on the battlefield, that you felt something in the pit of your stomach. When you destroyed your opponent, your hands and eyes were glowing even after you stopped throwing your power. Your stone was here.
You knew something was wrong, so you ran to where you were being pulled.
Some opponents tried to hold you back, but you defeated them easily, feeling much stronger than you ever had.
"No!" you exclaimed angrily as you launched your energy at the creature that was supposed to be Thanos, preventing him from reaching Wanda. He used the golden gauntlet to hold his power, but you kept him busy long enough for her to destroy Vision's stone, an energy field pushing you away when she did. You fell to your knees afterwards, exhausted from having held out against your own stone for so long.
Thanos slowly walked over to the redhead, and you struggled to move toward her.
"I understand, child. Better than anyone." He said and you choked, fearing that he was going to hurt her.
"You could never." She replied angrily still on the floor.
"Today I lost more than you could ever imagine".
"Leave her alone" You muttered stumbling toward her. You are feeling a sharp pain all over your body, but managed to stand. Thanos smiled at you wryly.
You raise your fist toward him, but he just raises his golden gauntlet.
"I felt you." He with a wry smile. "In my hand"
"You will feel my fist on your face in a second." You retorted angrily and he laughed. You are almost reaching for him, but you frown when you notice the green glow on his gauntlet. The time stone.
"One second is all I need."
You blink, and you're not there anymore. You are halfway again. And then you understand what he has done. When you run back to where Wanda was, a golden light throws you away. This time, it wasn't Wanda who destroyed the stone.
"No. No" you repeat to yourself as you run back, your body no longer aching like before, and you stumble among the trees.
You were going to attack Thanos as soon as you saw him, but Thor hit him first. Then you were running to Wanda, kneeling beside her.
"He's gone." She cried beside Vision's body. You couldn't feel his stone anymore, and your own face was wet with your tears.
You placed your hand on top of Wanda's next, and looked forward. Thor had struck Thanos in the chest and was saying something to him.
Then you gasped in surprise as the titan raised his fist.
"No!" you exclaimed getting up, but he snapped his fingers. You launched a wave of energy at him, but he used his gauntlet to defend himself. "What have you done?" you shouted rushing to reach the fallen titan.
"The necessary thing." He whispered before using his last breath of energy to teleport away.
You turned to Thor at the same instant, but he is not looking at you, but at Steve.
"Steve?" A male voice calls out, and you watch Bucky walk toward you all. But he turns to dust midway.
"W-what?" you whisper breathlessly, taking a step forward. Steve kneels on the ground in the same place your friend was and looks at Thor in confusion.
You look at Wanda immediately and feel your heart soar when you notice that the same thing is happening to her.
"Wanda?" You cry running to her, but by the time you arrive, she is gone. There is only Vision's body.
You can't feel either of them anymore.
//-//
The world is in complete chaos during the blip. There is no more S.H.I.E.L.D, and many other deals. And then there's a company that wants to take Vision's body away, and you destroy their trucks, and Steve has to calm you down for twenty minutes.
"No one is going to touch him." You say only as you release yourself from Steve's grip, and ignore the startled looks from the agents of S.W.O.R.D. You kick them out of the Avengers compound, and say that Tony Stark may be dead, but they had no jurisdiction there. If they had a problem with that, they could fight you.
It took 23 days for Tony Stark to come home. You hug him first when he gets off the plane. And you are impressed that it barely takes two hours for him to start talking shit.
"I told you guys we needed armor around the world..."
"And here we go again." You mumble impatiently as you take the focus away from the discussion to the tablet in your hand.
You are startled when Tony collapses to the ground, and the team moves to rescue him. You don't worry, because you feel he is fine.
"Tony always has to make a scene." You comment to yourself shaking your head slightly. "Hey, you," You call out to the metal girl you don't know while the other avengers are out of the room, "help me find your dad."
//-//
The team is trying to locate Thanos by analyzing planets that fit Nebula's description. You feel a sharp twinge in the back of your neck and then you are getting up towards the scanning equipment.
"Y/N, what is it?" Steve asks worriedly as he notices her movement.
"I found him." You say a moment later.
The team is impressed, but you swallow dryly.
"I felt my stone." You explain to them. "And then I didn't feel anything else. We need to go to him."
The Avengers exchanged worried looks, fearing what you were implying.
Soon you were all on a spaceship, heading for an unknown planet.
When Thanos confirmed your suspicions, the stones were destroyed, you sobbed.
"Wanda. She..." You said breathlessly turning to leave the cabin. You sat on the ground, trying to normalize your breathing. She's gone. Your friends are gone forever.
//-//
Your way of experiencing grief is unconventional.
You try to balance managing the chaos that the world has become while splitting chores with Natasha, and going to a few community therapy sessions. Steve is acting strange, but you make sure he eats properly.
There are no tears. You feel that if you start crying you won't stop, so you just work. And you help those who need it. And you have movie nights with Natasha, and you try to remember things that are worth living for.
There is a secret project too, something that is not progressing, but that you don't give up on. The machine you created with Shuri in Wakanda was destroyed in battle. With the world in complete chaos, you didn't have enough time to put it back together, especially with the current state of Wakanda. But you kept the projects going. Part of you didn't know if your lack of absolute dedication was because you believed Vision wouldn't want to live without Wanda. You wouldn't and you didn’t.
So there is this side project, to rebuild the machine and try to restore Vision, but it falls by the wayside after a few months. You keep the papers in a safe in your room, and start accepting more missions.
Tony has given up the hero's life, just as you always said he could do. You are not angry with him, though. And you visit him not so regularly, and agree when Pepper says that Morgan is the cutest kid in the world.
Steve becomes a kind of group therapist, and you want to tell him he needs a degree, but Natasha pokes you in the rib, and you just nod as you listen to the story.
Clint is different too. Losing his family has completely messed him up, and he has become a vigilante of sorts. You find Natasha crying often after you discover that he has been murdering people, and you always hug her until she stops.
As time passes, your pain becomes numb, and your nightmares stop happening. You think it is because Natasha lets you sleep in her bed now.
//-//
Five goes by much faster than you realize.
You are somewhere in Georgia, investigating a lead on a possible terrorist group forming, when Nat calls you. Scott Lang was alive.
When you return to New York, you discover that you have to go back in time.
Your friends want to know if you know anything about how Hydra had your stone, but you have no memory of that time. And with no time, they decide to just follow the right date and place that Rocket provides. You accompany Nebula, because it might be helpful to get a feel for where your stone would be.
You hug Natasha before she leaves with Clint to get the soul stone.
"You're getting sentimental" She teases when you let go of her.
"I know" You retort with a smile. "Just be careful, Tasha."
"I'm usually the one who tells you that." She says in the same tone, squeezing your hand lightly before turning away.
When Nebula takes you and James to a place called the Temple of the Power Stone, you can barely breathe.
"I can feel it." You say to the two of you as you walk to the stone.
"How are we going to get it?" James asks as he looks at the repository where the stone is placed.
Nebula is sticking her hand in the protective flame next second and you let out an impressed hiss.
She hands the stone protector to you, and you nod in appreciation.
"Let's synchronize then." You say as you form a small circle.
"Wow, that always feels weird" You joke as you appear in the Avengers compound again, now on your time. But your smile dies when you look around, and can't find Nat. "Clint...where?"
He just denies it with his head, and you feel your heart soar. This can't be true, you think in desperation.
"No. Nat... She can't." You say breathlessly, falling to your knees. Steve is touching your shoulder next. But then you release yourself from his grip, rushing to get out, feeling yourself suffocating.
You end up on the pier of the complex, thick tears streaming down your face.
It doesn't take long for the team to catch up with you.
"What do we do now?" You hear Tony ask. Steve sits down on one of the empty benches.
Bruce, in his Hulk form, is further away and looks just as upset as you.
"Did she have a family?"
You let out a short laugh at Tony's question.
"She had us." You retort trying to control your tears.
"Why are you guys talking like she's not coming back?" Thor asked angrily. "We have the stones, we will bring her back."
"It can't be undone." Clint said next, nipping in the bud the shred of hope that had risen in your chest. You sobbed. "She sacrificed herself for the stone, her soul was the price." He says looking forward. He lets out a breathless sigh. "It should have been me."
"You bet it did." You retort bitterly as you get up and walk away. No one follows you this time.
You go directly back to Nat's room. And you stay there for two days. When you calm down, and decide to take a shower and try to eat something, on the way out of the bathroom, you stop in front of her closet.
She would hate for you to take her clothes without asking, but you are wearing one of her leather jackets anyway. Wanda used to steal them too, and you both used to joke that it was because Nat had a wonderful fashion sense.
Now you had lost your two friends, and you were alone. You tried to control your sobs. Her sacrifice had to be worth it. So you put on her clothes and went out into the living room.
//-//
The team was arguing when you came in. You just blinked in surprise when you noticed the iron gauntlet. Tony really did it.
You tried to argue that you could handle the gauntlet's power too, but Bruce insisted that since he was made of gamma ray in his Hulk form, that was what he was there for.
And then he snapped his fingers.
You looked at Clint in surprise when he took a call from Laura.
"Honey?" He whispered tearfully and you felt your heart soar. And then something exploded and you were creating a force field to save Clint from the rubble.
When you were finished falling among the remains of the completely destroyed Avengers compound, you checked to see if the archer was okay, sighing with relief when he opened his eyes.
"Stand up." You ordered helping him to stand. "We have to find the others."
"The gauntlet." He warns pointing to something among the stones that glowed in the dark a few feet away from you. Before you could walk towards the item, a noise caught your attention.
Clint aimed an arrow from the direction of the sound, and you choked as the space creatures moved in the dark.
"Go." You shouted to him before starting to attack the beings as he ran to reach the gauntlet and leave the place, you following him with some delay.
You almost died a couple of times though. And when you reached Clint again, there were two Nebula's with him, and a green girl.
"What's going on, people?" You asked confused, and then let out a surprised exclamation when you realized that one of the Nebula's had a gunshot mark on her chest.
"I'll explain on the way, we have to get out of here." Clint spoke pulling you through the halls.
"Wait, she killed her past self? Isn't that going to be a problem?" You exclaim as soon as Clint explains it to you and he shrugs his shoulders. "May I ask why you are green?" You say to the strange girl next to you and she looks at you reproachfully.
"Why aren't you?"
"Touché" You retort smiling, "I am Y/N."
"Gamora."
When you reach the battlefield, things are chaotic and you barely have time to notice your surroundings and you are already fighting again.
Your heart races when you realize that everyone is back. But you don't have time to talk to anyone now, as you are busy fighting.
A red glow catches your attention, however. Completely taking your attention is the right thing to say.
"Who's got the gauntlet?" You hear Steve ask over the team's communicator, but you don't wait for the answer; you're headed toward Wanda.
When you find her, she has the titan trapped in her magic. You choke with excitement at seeing her again, feeling your eyes water.
But then a loud explosion catches your attention. Thanos has activated the airstrike, and you are running toward Wanda, reaching her just before one of the missiles reaches you two.
"Whoa, hi!" She greets you in surprise as you roll on the ground together. A mixed force field between your and her magic surrounds you, protecting you two from the attacks. You let out an exclamation of happiness, raising your hand to her face, wanting to confirm that she was really there.
"God, it's really you." You gasp with emotion, letting your tears flow. Wanda probably doesn't understand what is happening, but she hugs you back as you bury your face in her neck.
This can't last long, though. You take one last look at her face before standing up, the force field still surrounding the two of you as you help her to her feet.
However, when you go to ask her how you could take down the ship, someone does it for you.
"Wow, that's cool" You comment with a smile watching Carol destroy the entire ship with one blow.
"I think you're drooling." Wanda scoffs lightly making you laugh awkwardly.
"Shut up."
And then you are fighting again.
You have the impression that you are losing. But then Thanos' army is turning to dust before your eyes and you are exchanging a confused look with Wanda.
"Tony snapped his fingers." Steve says into the comm and you choke in surprise. Then you are running halfway across an open field until you catch up with your friends.
Pepper is kissing her husband's cheek when you arrive.
"S-Steve, what?" - You ask and he just shakes his head, thick tears in his eyes.
You gasp and then there are arms around you. It takes a moment for you to hug Wanda back. And when Steve takes Tony's body, she holds your hand.
//-//
Your hands are shaking as you step out of the shower.
You are staying at Tony's house, as are some of the others, while the compound area is being restored and Pepper organizes the funeral.
The laundry on your bed is Natasha's last set of clothes, and you don't want to cry anymore, but your face is wet anyway.
You finish getting dressed, but remain sitting on the bed in the room you are sharing with Wanda. The redhead enters a moment later, but you don't look at her.
Wanda sighs slightly and sits down beside you.
"Do you also have the feeling that everything is a bad dream?" She starts after a moment, you blink in surprise feeling a bit distracted and forcing yourself to pay attention. "Like the pain is so overwhelming, it's easier to think it's all temporary. Because there' s not the slightest chance you can survive this for much longer."
"Yes. I feel exactly like that." You agree smiling faintly. "But that's grief. No matter how impossible it seems now, it gets better."
"How can you know that?"
"Because I already lost you once."
Wanda blinks in surprise and then looks straight ahead. You don't face her either.
"How was it?" she asks after a moment, almost in a whisper. Clearly not exactly sure whether to ask that or not. You let out a dry laugh, running your hand over your face to wipe away the tears.
"What kind of question is that?" you retort and Wanda lets out a sigh, apologizing, but you shake your head. "You know exactly how I felt Wanda. Because you lost Vision too."
Wanda swallows dryly, looking at you with a frown. You stand up, leaving no room for questions.
You leave the room next, it was better to try to eat something.
//-//
Steve Rogers is going back to the past. And he will stay there.
He confesses this to you on the eve of Tony's funeral, and you push him by the shoulders, before hugging him tightly. Bucky also cries when he tells him.
No one else must know, not yet. You go back into the room you share with Wanda and mask your tears. She probably thinks it's because of Nat, so she doesn't press you to talk.
When the ceremony takes place the next day, you entwine your arm with Steve's. You were about to lose the three leaders of the Avengers all at once, and it looked like your heart couldn't take it.
But Steve smiles, and squeezes your hand lightly, before going to talk to Potts. You walk to the edge of the lake at the cabin, joining Clint and Wanda.
"I wish there was a way to tell her." Says the man after a moment. You clench your jaw, knowing exactly who he is talking about. "Of telling her that we won."
"Natasha was sure we would make it." You say half hoarsely, trying to hold back the cry. "She trusted us. That's why she did what she did."
Clint nods slightly, not holding back the tears that were falling from his eyes.
"She knows." Wanda said next. "They both know."
Clint slung an arm around Wanda's shoulder and one around yours, embracing you both. You allowed yourself to cry some more.
//-//
There are no more Avengers. At least not for now.
The world is in complete chaos with everyone coming back after five years.
You don't want to think about how many responsibilities you will have to take on when you are a hero again, you just want to get some rest.
Your first stop is Vision's grave. The restoration of the complex took a few weeks, but Potts was kind enough to take care of everything.
You took Wanda there as soon as everything was ready.
"I know we haven't talked about this yet, but, I got it back." You tell her as you walk together to the spot Potts showed you on the map. "After Thanos activated the missiles, I worried that something had happened, but the restoration team was able to map everything out again." You counters by leading her around the place.
Wanda just listened to your words, saying nothing. She seemed surprised by everything.
You reached a small hill, where there were two small metal and rock tombstones. On the first gravestone you made a few years ago completely recovered by Potts' team and already with slightly rusty lettering, it read "Pietro Maximoff - Brother, Friend and Hero. You are loved beyond words and lost beyond measure." On the second, a newer metal, and with gold lettering, it read "Vision Maximoff - Friend, Lover and Hero. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
"I used to bring flowers, but..."
You fell silent as Wanda hugged you. You reciprocated the hug for a moment, until Wanda let go, smiling weakly at you before turning around, kneeling on the graves.
As she ran her fingers over the letters, you cleared your throat.
"I know you two weren't married, but since Vis didn't have a last name..."
"It's okay." She interrupted in a whiny voice. "Thank you."
She stood there for many minutes. You don't mind waiting. And when she allowed it, you hugged her again, wiping away her tears.
You returned to the compound just as the sun was setting.
//-//
You were going to help Wanda to have a proper grief.
She had the same quirks as you, unhealthy habits of disconnecting from reality.
You wouldn't want that for her. Vision wouldn't want that.
The day after you took her to Pietro and Vision's grave, you appeared in her room in the morning. A tray of breakfast in your hand.
"I don't want to get up." She grumbled against the pillows when you entered the room without knocking, opening the curtains.
"I know, but it's almost ten thirty and you need to eat something." You said, leaving the tray on the bedroom table.
The first day she resisted. But two weeks later, she was already on her feet when you came into the room. You always ate together, and you made a point of taking her for walks, and spending time doing the things she liked, for example watching old TV series together.
"Potts called me." You said as you two shared coffee. "She wants me to take over the compound."
Wanda let out a surprised exclamation and you laughed lightly.
"Yeah I know, it's a lot." You say. "But Tony left the command to Steve. And Steve left it to me."
"Are you sure you want this?" She asked looking at you. You shrug.
"It's not about wanting it, Wands," you say. "I am who I am after all. These powers are with me for a reason. Maybe I can use them to do something good."
Wanda nods slightly, looking at you in a way that makes you embarrassed.
"And what does the government think of all this?" She asks and you sigh, running your fingers through your hair.
"They want to control everything of course." You tell her. "Potts is trying to keep everything classified as private property, but after Thanos, that's pretty unlikely."
"I guess the treaty of Sokovia was inevitable after all." She then comments, and you grumble in agreement.
"I would like to enjoy the rest of my vacation, though" You say with a smile, making Wanda look at you.
"What do you want to do?"
"I'm torn between a quiet weekend at a spiritual retreat or getting completely drunk in Las Vegas."
Wanda laughs.
"Okay." She says smiling, "Let's do both then."
"Oh, you like both then?"
"Oh, yeah."
Wanda replies wryly, and you notice her cheeks flush slightly, suggesting that she understood your insinuation. You laugh, going back to eating.
//-//
Sam has been calling you for a few hours, and you left an automated message on the answering machine that says "I'm on vacation, if it's life or death, send a letter".
You are driving to Las Vegas now, humming a pop song on the radio with Wanda in the passenger seat.
"Now that you are Tony's heiress you will spend the money on gambling, I suppose" She teases making you laugh.
"I'm not Tony's heiress." You counter laughing.
"Oh, yes, sorry, Miss Avengers leader."
You laugh at the teasing, then turn up the volume. You and Wanda sing at the top of your lungs.
When you park in front of the first big casino you encounter, Wanda has a mischievous grin on her face.
"I bet I win more games than you do." She says stopping in front of you.
"Can we use our magic?" You ask in the same joking tone, and she nods. You let out an excited exclamation. "Game on."
//-//
You two are thrown out of the casino a few hours later.
You both laugh as you run away from the angry security guards and get into the car quickly, many small coins falling out of your pockets. You drive through town, until you find a bar that seems crowded.
"Ready for the second half of your vacation?" Wanda asks with amusement as you get out of the car, making you laugh. Parties aren't really your thing, but you had said you wanted to drink after all.
The girl at the door looks at your clothes with a judgmental eye, but you think Wanda may have used her powers to get you two into the club.
The atmosphere is extremely noisy and with lots of lights, but you are not bothered when you start drinking.
"I think this is the worst way to go through grief" You comment before you and Wanda pour a shot of vodka together.
She laughs lightly afterwards.
"It's fun though."
And then she is pulling you onto the dance floor. You are too drunk to care about the closeness. You laugh as you dance together.
As the nightclub is beginning to empty, you and Wanda stumble out, visually drunk.
"Where's the car, Wands?" You ask between giggles, Wanda shrugs her shoulders, leaning on you to be able to walk.
It takes many minutes for you to find the vehicle. And when you do, Wanda passes out in the back seat. You use the rest of your sobriety to throw a jacket over her body, before sitting down in the front seat and falling asleep.
The next morning you both have a very bad migraine, and decide to have breakfast at a dinner on the way back to the compound.
Sitting on opposite sides of the same table, you drink some orange juice while Wanda steals a piece of your pancakes. You don't mind.
"Where are we going to spend the last stage of your vacation?" She asks curiously, and you rest your face on your hand while propping your elbow on the table.
"I don't know." You say. "I don't think I know anywhere quiet."
Wanda stands thoughtfully for a moment.
"We could rent a cabin."
"I make minimum wage."
Wanda laughs rolling her eyes. But she becomes quiet next, her expression serious.
"I can split the bill with you."
You raise a curious eyebrow.
"May I ask where the money comes from? Please don't say drug dealing."
Wanda laughs, looking away.
"Shut up." She retorts the next moment. "So what, you'll take it?"
You look at her suspiciously. You weren't going to pressure her into telling you what she didn't want, wishing to give her privacy.
"All right, Wands."
Wanda smiles at you, raising her hand. You give a "Hi-Five" and the waitress looks at you curiously.
//-//
Maybe renting a cabin with the woman you've secretly loved for years wasn't your best idea, but you're handling things well.
You were only going to stay three days, and if you could disguise that you completely melted when Wanda touched you or how cute she looked when she woke up, you'd be fine.
The cabin had two rooms, which was the best thing for your sanity.
After you had finished unpacking, you decided to prepare something to eat.
"How do you know how to cook this?" Wanda asks in surprise as she joins you in the kitchen. "By the way, how do you have the ingredients to make it?"
"I bought it on the way, smarty pants" You replied with amusement, moving around the kitchen to prepare the Sokovian Stew. "And I've cooked it for you before, I don't understand the surprise."
Wanda laughed lightly, remembering.
"Sorry, you're right." She says leaning against the countertop as she watches you cook.
"Come here and see if the seasoning is good." You tell her a moment later as you are stirring the pots.
You raise the spoon toward Wanda, expecting her to take it. But she just brings her mouth close to the cutlery, and looks at you as she tastes the food. You swallow dryly, feeling your heart race at the intensity of her gaze. You almost choke when she lets out a groan of satisfaction.
"It's delicious."
"Uh." It is the only sound you are able to produce, as Wanda looks up at you with an innocent smile. You quickly face the pot again, trying not to embarrass yourself so much.
"I'll set the table for us."
//-//
"Are you sure food is not your love language?" Wanda asks suggestively when you hand her a mug of hot chocolate. You are on the veranda, a few hours after dinner. You laugh lightly.
"My what?"
She settles into the seat she is sitting on, turning her face to you as you sit down next to her.
"Your love language." She explains with a smile. "There are several, one of them is cooking for the people you love."
You frown slightly, growing thoughtful.
"That's hardly mine, Wands." - You reply. "I hate cooking."
"What are you talking about, you always cook for me!" She retorts with a mix of confusion and humor in her voice, you shrug.
"It's because it's you." You say looking away.
"What does that mean?" She asks and you sigh lightly, taking a sip of your chocolate. Wanda looks at you incredulously. "You're not going to tell me then. Okay."
"Tell me more about these love languages." You ask next trying to change the focus of the subject from yourself.
Wanda seems excited to talk about it.
"Okay, I think there are five kinds." She starts with a smile, you're just happy to hear her say anything. And she sounds absolutely adorable when she talks about something that gets her excited. "They are words of affirmation, quality time, touch, acts of service, and gifts."
"What happened to cooking?" You tease and she pats your shoulder, laughing.
"I guess it comes into gift giving" She says thoughtfully. "But I read somewhere that it was like a sixth language".
You make an understanding noise with your mouth, but Wanda interprets your lack of reaction as a lack of interest, and apologizes that she is boring you. You frown.
"Hey, what are you talking about? I love this idea!" You assure her, and she smiles shyly after a moment. "I was just wondering which language I fit best in. That is, if I'm the one who decides that?"
"It's not a decision really." She says. "It's more of an analysis in how you behave. Usually the people around you notice."
"Oh, right." You grumble in agreement. "You really would make a terrible analyst then." You tease and Wanda laughs, pushing you lightly and making a face when she almost knocks over your hot chocolate. You laugh. "That story that I cook to show my love, not a thing."
Wanda rolls her eyes amused and then looks at you curiously.
"Oh yeah, and what do you think your language is then?"
You think for a moment.
"I have no idea." You confess and Wanda laughs looking away, "That's harder than it sounds."
"Take a guess."
"Um... I don't think they are words of affirmation." You say and she looks at you expectantly, wanting you to talk more about it. You smile awkwardly. "I never know what to say, so that would be the last language I would think of."
Wanda smiles, biting her lip and shaking her head slightly.
"What else?"
You inhale deeply, thinking.
"Well, I'm not the best gift-giving person." You counters. "Maybe quality time is a good option, but I'm not sure either. I'm pretty anti-social."
"I think quality time might be your thing." She says with a fond smile.
You raise your eyebrow curiously.
"Why do you say that?"
"Look around you." She replies with a smile, and you understand that this is exactly what is happening now. You give a shy little laugh.
"Can I make it official then?" You ask and Wanda laughs.
"I don't know, don't you like the others?"
"I forget which ones they are." You confess and Wanda laughs.
"Touch and Acts of Service." She clarifies and you nod in understanding.
" Okay let me think about it." You begin running your fingers through your hair quickly. "How can anyone know that touch is their thing?"
"I guess if the person likes to be touched." Wanda says and you raise your eyebrow in confusion. "Like, if you like to give hugs or cuddle."
"Do some people not like that?"
Wanda laughs.
"I think we have an answer." She says and you smile, shrugging.
"No, seriously. I don't know." You speak. "I guess I have no problem with touching people I like, but I can't tell if that would be my language."
"Okay." Wanda says and you look at her curiously as she picks up your mug and places it on the table along with hers. She moves a little closer to you, and entwines your hands together. You swallow dryly.
"Do you like that?" She asks gently, and you look into her eyes, glowing green. You nod shyly, and Wanda smiles. She releases your hands to slip her arms over your shoulder, and you melt into her embrace almost instantly. "Is that good?"
"Yes." You whisper with flushed cheeks. Wanda releases you next.
"I think we have a winner." She jokes, and you giggle awkwardly.
"What about you? What's your language?"
"Definitely quality time" She says and you smile.
"I think words of affirmation are your thing too."
Wanda looks at you curiously.
"Why?"
"Because you're nice." You say. "You say nice things all the time I mean. You are an affectionate person."
"Maybe words of affirmation are your thing." She hits back with flushed cheeks, you laugh awkwardly looking away.
"What happens if people have different love languages?" You ask after a moment. "Do they fight?"
Wanda sighs lightly, thoughtfully.
"I don't really know." She replies. "I think they each show their love in a different way, and if they talk, there's no reason to fight."
You nod in agreement and then straighten your posture, extending your hand to Wanda.
"Miss Maximoff, I swear I will try to show my affection to you with words of affirmation and quality time" You tell her in a fake serious tone, and Wanda joins in on the joke, agreeing to shake your hand.
"I swear I will try to show my affection to you with touch and also with quality time." She repeats the pledge, and you both look serious for a second, before laughing.
Neither of you realizes that by proposing to act outside your comfort zone for each other, perhaps acts of service are the best suitable love language for you two.

The second day at the cabin is like heaven on earth.
You wake up early, have coffee with Wanda, and walk a short trail with her until lunchtime. You cook again, and she teases you about it. In the afternoon you play monopoly, and cards. She makes you tea, and then you two sit on the sofa, each with a book, just enjoying each other's company.
It must be about ten o'clock at night when Wanda starts to yawn. You two are already lying on the couch, and you poke her ribs with your foot and she laughs lightly.
"Go to bed." You tell her with a smile, and she looks quickly at you.
"I don't want to sleep." She says and yawns next, making you laugh.
"Of course you don't."
Wanda laughs and then closes the book, placing it on the small table beside the sofa. She buries her body against the cushions afterwards. You laugh as you look at her.
"What are you doing?"
"I don't want to get up." She replies by closing her eyes. You laugh, closing the book and sitting down. You place the book on the coffee table, and when Wanda yawns again you sigh.
"Come on you big baby, I'll take you to bed." - You tell her as you approach. Wanda lets out an exclamation as picks her up and carries her, blushing as she places her hands on your neck. You were laughing and didn't realize it.
When you reach your bedroom door, Wanda uses her powers to open the door, and you look at her quickly to thank her, which is a mistake, because you realize how close you are. It's hard to reach the bed without shaking now.
"Here we go." You mumble clumsily as you lay her down on the bed. Wanda doesn't let go of your neck however, and you swallow dryly. "Wanda?"
"Can I kiss you?" she asks breathlessly, and you feel your stomach drop. Your bodies are very close together, as you bent down to place her on the bed. Your hands are stretched out beside her neck, to keep you from falling on top of her.
"Are you sure?" You reply in the same tone, your voice husky. Wanda nods biting her lips lightly, her face very flushed.
You slowly advance against her and she meets you on the way. You both sigh as your lips touch. It is as overwhelming as you ever imagined it would be.
Wanda nuzzles the back of your neck lightly and you slide your tongue against hers, changing the intensity of the kiss.
She sighs, pulling you down and you shiver as you rest your weight against her.
When you pull away to take a breath, your foreheads stay together.
"Wanda..." You start breathlessly, trying to decide what to say.
"I like you." She confesses in the same tone, her voice husky. You feel your heart race. "Is that okay?"
You let out a short laugh, nodding. You kiss her again, smiling against her lips.
You kiss for several minutes, and when your lips are swollen and you are hot, you part. It's still early for this, you don't want to press Wanda.
"Maybe I should go to my room" You whisper against her lips, finding hard to reason with such closeness. Wanda kisses you again, making you sigh. You are almost giving up on the idea of getting up when she breaks the kiss, biting your lip as she does so.
"Goodnight, darling" She whispers and you melt at the nickname, but smile, starting to get up. Wanda is still lying there, just as affected by the make-out session as you are, and you just smile shyly at her as you say goodnight and go back to your room.
You both have silly smiles on your faces as you fall asleep.
//-//
There is a delicious tension in your relationship with Wanda now.
You got up early on your last day, and went into the kitchen to make breakfast for the two of you. While you were preparing coffee, Wanda woke up.
She stretched, and seemed to hesitate slightly about what to do next, but you were already handing her a cup of coffee and kissing her cheek before walking over to the table.
You sit in silence, glances and smiles stolen between the small talk.
When you have finished eating, you turn on the television, and Wanda sits down next to you.
"Come here" you ask softly, and she smiles as she approaches, cuddling up to you. You watch some silly movie together, and you like to feel Wanda laughing against you.
In the afternoon, Wanda is the one who prepares lunch, and you lean on the counter when you finally decide to look at your cell phone. You sigh as you look at the number of missed calls and notifications. There are at least a dozen messages from Sam saying that something was wrong.
"What is it?" Wanda asks when she notices your expression.
"Dever calling us" You reply with a mixture of weariness and irony, shaking the cell phone. Wanda exchanges an understanding look with you, and you put the cell phone on the counter, sinking your face into your hands. She gives the pot one last check, and you are slightly startled when she moves in front of you, gently pulling your hands away from your face.
"I just wanted to stay here forever" You confess and let out a short laugh "I know it's selfish, but I just... it feels like my whole life I've been fighting." You tell her with a sad smile. "This must be the most at peace and content I've felt in a long time"
Wanda raises her hands to caress your cheeks.
"It's not selfish." She says tenderly. "I know exactly how it feels, darling. Ever since I was a child, Pietro and I went from one fight to another." She tells you and you let your hands rest against her waist. "I can't thank you enough for giving me moments like that."
You smile, shaking your head slightly. Then you sink your face into Wanda's neck and she hugs you back.
Now that your cell phone is no longer on silent, it doesn't take long for another call to come in. You grumble when you let go of Wanda to answer it.
Sam is saying something about a new Captain America and you are frowning, but smile when Wanda presses her fingers against your forehead to get you to stop grimacing.
"Are you listening to me?" Sam asks half impatiently on the other end of the line. You had been silent because Wanda is the most beautiful woman you have ever seen and she is standing right in front of you, smiling.
"Of course, Sammy." You then reply, raising your free hand to Wanda's cheek caressing her skin. "I'll come back to the compound tonight and then we'll talk better."
"Okay, just hurry please." He asks and looks tired. "Things are a mess".
You hang up and move forward, kissing Wanda intensely. She sighs against your lips, and you wish you could call Sam again and tell him you're not going anywhere.
//-//
When you return to the compound again there is a lot of work.
You find out that Sam is going to become the new Captain America and you couldn't be prouder.
You are no stranger to the idea that he should be the new leader of the Avengers, as Steve was. It feels right and you tell him so.
He seems surprised that you refuse the leadership, but you assure him that it was never really your thing, you would be happy in solo missions and other activities.
Besides this, things with Wanda were going in a direction you never imagined.
Part of you kept repeating that she would never look at you if Vision were alive, but you suppress these thoughts as much as you can.
You start going out frequently, casual encounters that leave you two with flushed cheeks and racing hearts. There are some kisses. But in general, Wanda is already so much a part of your life that nothing has really changed. You live together in the complex, and spend almost all your free time together.
There are many missions now, many people needing help.
Four months after you started to go out, Shuri calls you.
She apologizes for not getting in touch sooner, explaining how complicated things have become in Wakanda as well. You assure her that it's okay and that you would like to visit her when you can. She has a mysterious tone when she says that she needs your help with a project, and that she would have more information in a few days. You are curious and thoughtful as you hang up the cell phone and walk back to your room.
Wanda is strangely quiet the next day. You don't understand what is going on, but when you check the calendar, you bite the inside of your cheek. It was the anniversary of Vision's death. For you it had been five years, but for her, only a few months. Sighing sadly, you prepare something hot for her to eat.
When you arrive in her room, she has a sad and thoughtful countenance and is slightly startled when you enter without knocking, but you just smile and put the tray of soup on the table.
"I brought you some food, baby" You say tenderly and Wanda looks at you just for a moment. You notice a piece of paper in her hands and have a curious expression. "What's that?"
Wanda's eyes immediately fill with tears, and you blink in concern. She holds out the paper to you.
It is a house plan. It is stamped "property sold" with the date close to when you traveled to the cottage. You understand where the money came from now. But what catches your eye is the scrawl in red in the center, which reads "To grow old together, V."
Swallowing dryly, you fold the paper again, leaving it on the table before returning to Wanda.
"I'm sorry, I just... I just miss him and it seems like everything changed all at once"
"No, Wanda. It's okay." You assure her as you sit up and wrap her in a hug, which made her cry, but also relax her immediately. "I wish I could take this pain away from you, but I can't. I'm really sorry for the life you two couldn't live together."
Wanda sobs against your T-shirt and while you soothe her to sleep, you decide what you are going to do.
//-//
Shuri called. So you were going to Wakanda, Bucky next to you on the plane.
You teased him one last time about his new name "white wolf" before you got off.
You hugged your friend tight before you two left for the laboratory.
"I managed to recover the wreckage of your machine" She tells you with animation. You push down any insecurity as you smile, and hand her the projects that have been locked away in your room for five years.
You will work together again. It will take some time, due to the amount of tasks, but you will have this as your main project.
After three days, you and Bucky return home.
Before you enter the compound, he calls out to you.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asks with a worried look, you nod.
"They belong together, Buck." You say with a bitter taste in your mouth. Bucky has an almost pitying look on his face and you hate it, so you are changing your stance. "Don't say anything to Wanda, though. I can't give her hopes like that and fail. She can only know if I succeed."
Bucky nods in understanding and you walk back.
//-//
Your heart and your body belong completely to Wanda Maximoff. You eventually realize this when you return to the compound, and even though you are secretly working to resurrect her dead boyfriend, you can't resist her.
Perhaps the best choice would have been to end things between you, but all you can do is completely melt in her presence. You laugh at her jokes, engage in her conversations, and fall apart in her kisses.
The trips to Wakanda become more frequent over the next month, and you begin to miss Wanda terribly when you are away, but you use this frustration to work.
It's May, and you'll need to travel again just three days after you arrive, and by the way things are going well, this should be your last trip to Wakanda.
"Okay, Shuri, thanks for letting me know. I'll get everything ready." You tell her through the hologram in your room and she smiles before hanging up. You are startled when you notice Wanda at the door.
"Are you leaving again?" She asks annoyed and you nod sadly.
You hope that Wanda will not be as upset as she has been the last few times. You obviously don't tell her the reason you go to Wakanda so much, and Bucky covers for you by saying it was confidential. It has been enough to maintain the logic that the less people knew, the less dangerous it was, and Wanda believes it.
"I'll call you while I'm there" You tell her trying to soften her annoyance as she walks into her room closing the door.
"It's not the same." She mumbles moving closer only to pass her arms around your torso. "I miss you."
You feel your heart soar as you hug her back. You know that the sentence refers to the new distance you have put between you, and part of you wants to confess everything. But you hold your words back.
"Everything is going to be okay, Wanda." You tell her disguising any sign of your recent need to cry. "This is going to be the last time."
Wanda then releases you, looking at you tenderly. You smile back, and she moves in to kiss you.
You know those kisses. The ones she only gives when you are alone, or when you have been apart too long. Kisses that are dangerous to cross barriers that you didn't know if she was ready to cross, and that also make your body hot and take your breath away.
Going out for almost seven months, this was the only line you hadn't crossed yet. Honestly, your cuddling sessions were borderline. But there were so many other things about your relationship that sex really wasn't the focal point.
And then you had Wanda kissing you like this and you couldn't resist.
Letting your hands slide down her body, you felt her sigh against your lips as you squeezed her ass, pressing her forward against you.
You began to walk with Wanda around the room, exchanging passionate, hot kisses, until she stumbled on the bed and you fell over her body on the mattress.
When your clothes came off, you reached for one of her hands and entwined it in yours on top of her head, kissing her neck as you trembled at the sound of her moans.
Wanda came on your fingers, moaning your name with her eyes closed and mouth open as you kept your free hand entwined in hers. You looked at her with adoration, thinking she was absolutely perfect.
You came against her thigh, and then she came in your mouth a few moments later. You repeated it one more time until your bodies were too tired to do it again.
You woke up first the next day, and while preparing coffee, you felt your face getting wet. You were going to lose her again. But you quickly wiped the tears away. She was never really yours to lose.
//-//
Bucky didn't come back to Wakanda with you, and you figured he had some other mission. You also insinuated that he was spending a lot of time outside the compound with Sam, and laughed when he got flushed and told you to go fuck yourself.
When you arrived at Shuri's lab, you didn't sleep properly for two weeks.

Bucky nodded slightly when Wanda entered the kitchen. She had been really upset these days, feeling lonely. But Y/N made the soldier promise to check on her girlfriend often and keep her company, so that's exactly what he's been doing.
After coffee, he suggested that they walk around the compound for a while, and the witch accepted.
"You know, I think Nat would like to see you two together." Commented the soldier with a smile. Wanda grumbled in agreement, slightly distracted, but then she assumed a confused expression.
"What do you mean?" She asked and Bucky blinked curiously. "How did Nat know that Y/N liked me?"
Bucky let out a short laugh also confused by the conversation.
"What do you mean, Wanda? Everyone knew all along."
Wanda stops walking, blinking with confusion.
"Bucky, what? No, Y/N and I only fell in love after Thanos, what do you..."
Bucky laughs in disbelief and confusion.
"Whoa, she really didn't tell you." He says surprised and at Wanda's expression, he straightens his posture, putting his hands in his pockets as he looks at her. "Look, maybe it wasn't the best idea for me to be the one to tell you, but I imagine since you're together now it won't make much difference." He says, sighing slightly. "She's been in love with you ever since you joined the Avengers. You were the reason she fought alongside Steve when he defied the law for me. Everyone always knew."
Wanda shook her head, surprised and incredulous.
"Bucky what are you saying?" Wanda muttered more to herself than to the soldier. Bucky just looked at her curiously.
"All these years, and you never knew." He said surprised.
Wanda felt her eyes fill with tears.
"But... Why didn't she say anything?" She asked holding back the tears. "I... She's been with me all this time, and... how could she not have said anything?"
Bucky shrugged.
"You had Vision, Wanda. She didn't want to make things awkward." He says. "She used to tell Natasha that loving you was enough. She never needed you to love her back."
Wanda gasps in surprise and cries, running her hands through her hair. Thousands of memories flashing through her mind at once. All the times Y/N was by her side, their escapes from the tower, their pranks, their jokes. The way she always stood up for her, helped her on missions, in training. How she blew up the TV set in the briefing room the day the government agent broadcast the report of what happened on Sokovia to the team in an attempt to shock them with Wanda's mistake. Pietro's grave, the way she took care of everything and assured Wanda that she was happy to help. But mostly in the way she always smiled when Wanda told her about Vision, how she supported her when they were on the run, and how she didn't leave her side when she was grieving.
Wanda couldn't imagine how much it must have hurt to watch the person you love, loving someone else.
Wanda let out a dry laugh, finally letting the tears flow.
"All this time, and she loved me in secret." She mumbles breathlessly. "How could she bear it?"
Bucky looked away.
"Well, she's always tougher than most."
Wanda shook her head, laughing sadly.
"Take me to Wakanda."

Reader Pov
You did it.
"Shuri, is this really happening?" You ask with a mixture of surprise and excitement. Your eyes completely glaze over in front of you.
The door to the machine you created then opened, a metallic noise filling the room. It took the machine man a few seconds to open his eyes, and when he did you held your breath.
"You really did it." Shuri said to you impressed and looking forward as well.
"We did." You retorted taking a step towards the being that was looking at you with curiosity. He seemed to be getting used to the idea of being online again. "Vision?"
The question escaped your lips firmly, although your heart was racing.
Vision moved out of the machine, looking around.
"I'm confused." The male voice filled the room. "I think I've been asleep. My last memory is of a field."
You gasp, feeling your eyes fill with water.
"I can't believe you're here, buddy" You tell him, stepping forward to hug him. Vision doesn't respond however, still appearing to be in shock.
When you let go, you are smiling.
"I'll explain everything to you, Vis."
Shuri leads you to a meeting room, and she keeps checking Vision's functionality signals while you talk for a bit. You tell him about the blip, about his death, and a little about Thanos. He is different, maybe it is the stone. He seems more mechanical and logical than ever, talking about statistics and asking about social impacts. You just think he needs to get used to the world again.
"There's someone coming to see you" Shuri announces after a moment while fiddling with her computer.
"T'Challa wants to check if we are eating properly again?" You joke and Shuri laughs, but then she frowns.
"Actually it's..."
The door to the room then opens. You get up from your armchair in surprise to see Wanda standing there. She looks at you with adoration in her eyes, but her expression falls completely when she notices who is beside you.
Her face is a mixture of surprise, disbelief, and confusion. You swallow dryly, ignoring the urge to cry, and force yourself to smile shyly.
Wanda walks towards you slowly.
"I've been working to bring him back, Wanda." You explain in a husky voice. "To bring him back to you."
Wanda's eyes are filled with tears, and she gasps as Vision rises from the armchair, looking at her curiously.
"How...?" Wanda asks breathlessly, but she sobs then moves forward to embrace the robot.
You feel your heart break, because it is over. You smile however, nodding to Shuri lightly as you leave the two of them alone.
When you reach the hallway, your hands and legs are shaking and you lean on the wall to keep from falling to the floor. Bucky is joining the two of you as Shuri looks at you with concern.
"Everything okay?" She asks touching your arm lightly. You nod frantically.
"I did what I had to do." You say breathlessly, holding back tears. "She...She's happy."
Bucky exchanges a look with Shuri and then he is asking if he can hug you. You nod slightly and when he does, you collapse.
//-//
You are avoiding Wanda.
It's childish, but you feel your heart ache every time you think about seeing her, so you're trying to buy time to only talk to her again when you can show that you're happy for her.
It has been two days since she arrived in Wakanda.
You and Bucky are in rooms in the same hallway, and you know that Shuri has set up facilities for Vision and Wanda to be together. You haven't seen her yet, and it's all due to the fact that you accepted whatever task the king had to keep you well away from the castle.
You returned very late to your room on the third day, and Bucky was waiting for you in the hallway.
"You two need to talk." He said, following you into the room as you sighed.
"I know, Buck." You grumble taking off your jacket. "I just need time, I...I think I'll crumble if I see her again"
Bucky runs his hand across his face, slightly impatient.
"No, you don't understand." He says. "You just brought her dead boyfriend back, you can't just ignore her."
You throw yourself on the bed, closing your eyes.
"I'm really considering alcoholism now." You grumble, and Bucky laughs lightly.
"Talk to her." He says before turning to leave.
You take a while to fall asleep after that.
//-//
You see Wanda again. At a safe distance. Your heart feels like it is going to jump out of your chest.
She and Vision go out for a walk just before lunchtime. You look at them from the balcony, their silhouettes in the field of flowers. It's beautiful. You don't realize that you are crying.
Walking to Shuri's labs, you intend to accept some project, but she has a worried look on her face when she looks at you.
" There' s something wrong." She comments by showing you a graph that you don't understand at first. "While you were behaving like a child, we had some problems." The teasing makes you blush slightly, but you are too worried to respond.
"What happened?"
Shuri sighs weakly.
"Wanda and Vision talked for a few hours. And then she realized what we didn't anticipate." She explained as she changed the chart. "Without the mind stone, Vision is just a computer program. There's nothing human in him anymore."
You blinked in confusion, and let out a short laugh.
"What are you talking about?" You ask, but before she answers you are talking again. "Vision was always a computer. His love for Wanda was his humanity."
Shuri shook her head in the negative.
"The mind stone created a connection with Wanda." She explained. "Without it, he is just a set of algorithms. He remembers everything he experienced, but he can no longer feel."
You gasp in surprise and then sit down on the floor, trying to understand exactly what you had done.
"I think our mistake was not accepting death." Shuri said after a while. "We can't reverse something like that. We should know."
"I can't believe I did that." You commented with a dry laugh. "I brought him back only for her to lose him again. My god what the fuck is wrong with me?"
Shuri walked over to you, kneeling in front of you, and placing a hand on your knee.
"You didn't know, okay?" She said trying to reassure you. " Your intentions were the best".
"That doesn't matter now". You grumble bitterly.
Eventually you get up, and decide that you should apologize.
Shuri tells you that she will handle everything with Vision, that she would ask him if he would like to continue to exist, if he had a purpose, or if he would like to be deactivated. You told her to make sure that he knew that he would always have a place on the Avengers team, and she smiled saying that Wakanda would also accept him.
//-//
Your heart was racing when you knocked on Wanda's door.
She used her powers to open it, and you walked in, finding her sitting on the bed, pensive.
"You finally decided to talk to me." She teased looking at the television. You swallowed dryly, twiddling your fingers nervously.
"I talked to Shuri." You begin with emotion showing in your voice. "She told me about...about everything. I'm so sorry Wanda." You cry. "I didn't know this was going to happen, I didn't mean to hurt you..."
Wanda blinks confusedly getting up as she approaches you, raising her hands to your face.
"It's okay." She assures wiping away your tears.
"No, it isn't. I brought him back only for you to lose him again, I can't believe I could do that to you, I'm sorry..."
"Stop. No." Wanda says shaking her head, her eyes filled with tears. She swallows her emotion as she looks at you tenderly. "You gave me a chance to say goodbye to him."
"Wanda..."
"I didn't have that chance before." She continues with a sad smile, "I am grateful for it."
"W-what?" you sigh breathlessly with incredulity.
Wanda smiled, stroking your cheek lightly.
"All this time, and you've been loving me in secret." She spoke tenderly, and you felt your face heat up.
"How...?"
"It doesn't matter." She interrupts shaking her head slightly, the look in her eyes is one of pure adoration. "I still don't understand how you can hide this from me, and..."
You shake your head, letting the tears flow.
"I just wanted you to be happy, Wanda." You interrupt with a smile. "It didn't have to be with me."
Wanda gasps slightly, and moves forward to kiss you on the mouth. The kiss doesn't last long, however, and she breaks away to bring your foreheads together.
"I love you." Wanda whispers against your lips, you sigh in surprise. "Sorry it took so long."
You let out a short laugh, hugging her. When she hooks her arms around your neck, you lift her off the ground, and Wanda lets out a giggle. You spin around, smiling, your chest exploding with happiness.
//-//
On your last day in Wakanda, you visit Vision.
He is in one of the castle rooms, looking contemplative, and pours you a cup of tea.
After you talk about what he wants to become, you hug him goodbye and he looks at you curiously.
"I never directly asked you what your motivation was for doing all this." Vision begins with a curious posture. "Shuri told me about your affection for Wanda, but I never understood precisely."
You look away from the floor, kind of awkwardly.
"I thought you two were soulmates." You say to him, and Vision observes you for a few seconds before speaking.
"How could we be soul mates, if I never had a soul?" He asks and you raise your face in surprise. Vision just smiles slightly as he puts his hand on your shoulder. "I wish you had told her how you felt in the beginning. It would have prevented so much suffering."
"Hey, we would feel your loss even if Wanda liked me..."
"I was talking about you." He interrupts with a smile and you fall silent, not knowing what to say next. "I hope you'll be happy together. You have a high level of compatibility."
You laughed at the mechanical way Vision spoke and gave him one last hug before leaving in farewell.
//-//
You return to Wakanda the following year. Many things are different now, from your address, to Wanda's rings, and your last names.

Tech problems (bucky x reader)
Summary: bucky doesn’t know how to work the TV, his new phone, anything. After getting made fun if he wants to quit but the reader helps him out.
Pairing: bucky barns x reader
Warning: mentions of death near the end, but it’s mostly fluff
Masterlist!
Bucky stood at the counter in the kitchen, full weight leaning on the concrete slab that most people ate off of. His eyebrows were basically touching as he fiddled with his phone that Tony just gave him, he just couldn’t figure it out for the life of him.
“Hey, old guy!” Tony walked in, “whatcha doing?” He walked over and peered over Bucky’s shoulder.
“Trying to…” his brain wasn’t focused on completing the sentence, more on creating an e-mail.
“I see,” Tony snatched the phone from Bucky’s hands and turned his back to him, Bucky tried to see what he was doing but Tony kept walking around. A little bit of anger grew inside him because Tony seemed just fine at working with tech- everyone did.
Steve had walked in, “Tony, what are you doing?” His voice was tired and annoyed, he already knew what was happening simply from the way Bucky looked longingly at Steve. “Tony-“
“Ah-ta-ta, let me help him.” Tony smirked, his voice dripping in sarcasm. “I’m doing it all for him, aaaand- done!” He turned and slapped the phone in the table, it looked like everyone else’s.
“What did you do to it?” Bucky asked, his anger coming through in his tone.
“Nothing, tin man- old man- silver hair, just nothing.” He seemed like he was telling the truth, “i just did it so you wouldn’t keep annoying me and asking so many god damn questions, jeez.” Tony scoffed and walked away, Bucky didn’t pick up the phone, rather stare at it.
“How stupid am I?” Bucky asked, “really, like you got this figured out in less than a week, Tony told me when I asked for the Bluetooth password.”
“Wifi.” Steve corrected.
“What?” Bucky looked over, “same thing, who cares…” Bucky waved him off, his head snapped up at Steve suppressing a laugh, his stomach sank, “what?” His voice light and almost a whisper.
“It’s not the same thing, very much not the same thing.” He laughed, Bucky sighed, he’d had enough of this. Bucky picked up the phone and walked down the hall, “oh, come on! I’m having fun with you!” Steve laughed.
~~~
You wiped the sweat from your forehead, training with Nat had just ended and you were heading back to your shared room with Bucky. As you walked past the kitchen you saw Steve looking at nothing, he hand kept his head up.
“Why the long face?” You panted, still needing to catch your breath.
“I made fun of Bucky, he’s mad now.” His mouth barley moved, the sentence was muffled.
“About what?” You asked softly but you were still mad, he made fun of your boyfriend.
“Him not knowing how to use tech,” Steve looked up and saw your jaw drop, “what?”
“Literally last night he was so upset because he called me when I was training and he used the emergency signal, so I came running to our room and he had no idea.” You looked towards the bedrooms, “he was so upset with himself that he made me scared, he was all in his head. I need to go check up on him,” you sighed and turned to go to your room; that hot shower had to wait.
Once you made it to your room you softly knocked on the door, “Bucky?” You called, when you heard a hum you opened the door a jar, seeing him slumped over with his phone in his hands. “Hey, babe.” He seemed to break out of his thoughts when you placed a hand on his back.
“Hi, doll face.” He tried to smile, “how’s training?” He looked over to you as you sat beside him.
“Very long and very tiring,” you chuckled, you knew if you asked how he was doing he might get mad or breakdown, “Steve told me what happened, he seemed sad when I was in the kitchen.” Your hand started to rub his upper back, making sure you didn’t hit any scars through the shirt. “You wanna talk about it?” His phone was still on the home page, all the apps were downloaded but you knew he didn’t do that himself.
“I don’t know anything,” he sighed, “i don’t know how to work my phone, the microwave, the TV…I don’t know how to use the system thing in here properly, I can barley understand cars these days, that’s why I use the motorcycle because they didn’t change much but-… y/n, everyone thinks it so funny, the old guy who doesn’t know jack shit about tech.” He slumped forward.
“I don’t think it’s funny,” you moved up to the back of his neck, knowing he likes when you get under into his scalp.
“You’re different.” He stated.
“How so?”
“Because you’ve never been mean to anyone, you’re this shining star, you’re a light and you’re never mean.” His eyes left his phone and he looked at your leg, not wanting to make eye contact after saying that.
Your heart melted, his lips turned up at the quickly kiss to his cheek. He looked over and kissed you back, your hands wrapped around his neck and his pulled your waist in. After pulling away your foreheads rested on one another’s.
“Let me teach you, yeah?” You whispered, “no jokes. No funny business. As long as you need, I’ll go through it all.” You leaned back and waiting for his response.
“I don’t wanna make you go through-“
“Nope. Final rule, no self-doubt.” You smiled, his lip pouted out and he tried to cover his face and blush.
“Okay,” he nodded, “teach me.”
“Not right now,” you laughed, Bucky quirked a brow, “I’m tired and sweaty and I feel gross, also, I would like some cuddles.” You stood and grabbed your towel and a change of comfy clothes, “tomorrow.”
~~~
It was the next day, Bucky sat on the bed as you walked around the TV in your shared room, deep down he wanted to take some notes but he knew if anyone found them, he’d never hear the end of it.
“So let’s start basic,” you stood in front of the blank TV, “let’s say you’ve lost he remote, this is how you control it. Right here,” you pointed to the circle with a line through the top symbol, “that is the universal signal for on and off, look for that. Then, once you’ve pressed it here is the little notches for the volume and then the channel notches.” You pointed as you went along the bottom of the screen.
“Sounds easy,” Bucky muttered more to himself.
“But we have a remote, here, same little symbol, on and off. There, that’s the volume, and the big circle can help navigate up and down, side to side.” You showed him up close, “lots of these buttons will never be used, so I won’t really go through them.” You waved it off. “Okay, test number one, turn of the tv.” You passed the remote.
“Okay…” bucky clicked the button with the symbol he now knew and the screen lit up, some random cartoon played, “yes!” He shit up and jumped, quickly catching himself he sat back down.
“Can you change the channel for me?” You asked, a smirk on your face from his reaction before, he clicked the channel button and it went to the news. “And turn it up, please.”
“Easy,” he smiled and clicked, no sound came out. “What?” He clicked again and the sound came back, but not louder.
“You hit the mute button, use the long button here,” you pointed, he clicked up and it went up one level, after catching on and holding it the volume kept going up, “Bucky-“ you tried to warn but the volume cut out completely.
“Shit.” He stood up, Bucky fiddled with the notches on the actual TV but nothing happened. “What did I do?” His face i genuine terror, “did I break it, oh god, Tony’s gonna get some mad.”
“You blew out the speakers,” after observing the smoke coming out from the side of the TV that was the only possible answer.
“I knew i’d mess it up, I get so cocky, I really thought I had it.” He paced around, tugging his hair.
“Don’t worry, it’ll all be fine,” you calmed him and sat him in the bed, “it’s hard at first but it will only get easier.” You smiled before pulling him into a hug, you could feel his sigh of defeat as he hugged back.
You both headed out to the kitchen, Bucky still in a mood from breaking the TV a couple minutes ago. You both had some coffee, yours with a little milk.
“Hello, lovebirds.” Tony walked in, Bucky looked right at his feet and tried not to look awkward. “What’s up with cyborg over here?” Tony giggled.
“Nothing,” you dipped your coffee, Bucky just nodded along.
“I got a notification that the speakers in your room were blown out,” Tony teased, Bucky stiffened and inches closer to you, “what happened?”
Bucky looked up, his mouth open and about to talk. You gently placed a hand on his chest and looked him in the eye, a way of saying ‘I got this’.
“I sat in the remote, turns out my ass poked it right at the volume and I couldn’t figure it out in time.” You laughed, Bucky looked at you crazy before forcing one out.
Tony hunched over, “I can picture that, oh wow- I wish I was there!” He cackled before turning away and walking down the hall, “it’ll be fixed by tomorrow!” He called over his shoulder.
~~~
It was lonely without you, it was very rare you’d go in missions without Bucky but also rare you’d go alone. It was a simple infiltrate, you were more on the espionage rather than Captain America side of powers.
Bucky had tired to talk to Steve about letting someone go with you, this mission would involve zero contact with the base. But no one listened, it was always going to be you.
It had been a month, three quarters done with the they needed. The tech lesions had to be halted, you weren’t there to teach and Bucky refused to let anyone tell him anything about the tech in his room.
“If only you could see me, babe…” he whispered as he worked the TV, that was the only thing he knew, and he was great at it. Last week he recorded a show, he was never going to watch it, but it as recorded. He almost had a heart attack when the remote stopped working, but it just ran out of batteries.
After doing all the cool tricks he knew he looked over to your side of the bed, it was neatly made and seemed untouched. Whenever you’d be fine for even a night he’d sleep on the ground, but he promised he’d sleep on the bed, but he never rolled over or even sat on your side.
The one thing he missed was the way your shampoo stunk up the whole bed in a good way, when he’d wake up the morning after you’d showered he’d could smell your lavender shampoo right away, it almost puts him back to sleep. But as the days went on, it faded.
Bucky looked around before gently placing his face your pillow, almost like an afterthought of your sent came through; just barley there. His face hovered before he gave in and relaxed on it, he knew if he’d roll around the sent would fade quicker, he didn’t really care.
There was a hard spot on your pillow, he reached under and found a green spiral notebook. It didn’t have anything in the cover, once he opened it a gasp fell from his lips.
It was a notebook, for every piece of tech in the house. From his phone to how F.R.I.D.A.Y. works, it was all there. Intricate diagrams that where labeled, one page had everything he needed to know.
Bucky’s phone sat face down in his bedside table, he flipped the that page and looked it over. He picked up his phone and read through it all, slightly muttering then words that were written to himself like he was being taught.
“Okay, you got this,” he said as he pressed the on button, as he navigated around he learned how to add a contact, send and text, google, the a picture, send an email. Everything.
~~~
You walked into the compound completely exhausted, one black eye layer, the base had been infiltrated. You went to your mission report computer and Tony was there, he gave you your phone.
“Connect back to the wifi,” he nodded before leaving you to connect.
Once you were fully back online your phone began to buzz, over and over. Tons of notifications rolled in. You went to emails first.
From: bucky
To: y/n
Subject: test?
Hellooooooo this is a test, don’t worry about it!
You laughed and scrolled through the other emails, finding out they were all kind of the same, then you went to text messages.
There was a selfie of him holding the green book, his smile couldn’t have been wider. He sent three, probably by accident. But they were still cute.
So I figured hit text!
Kinda cool
I found the book, it was like Christmas
Anyway, I know you won’t read this but I think I’ll try the oven next, I’ll ask wanda about it.
As the texts went on, your heart started to drop and your stomach swirled. They had been getting progressively sadder.
Hey doll face, I hope you’re well, miss you
I miss you
I love you
I wanna marry you one day, maybe live on farm and have a few kids
If you want
Sent: two months ago
I finished your book, I think I know it all now, I’ve been going over those tests you put in the back sleeve, they’re really good
You’re very thoughtful
I know you can’t see this
I don’t know what to do with myself, this is very hard.
Sent: one month ago
Are you dead?
I had a dream you died in my arms, and I can’t tell if it was a flashback or a dream
I hope you’re not
I love you too much
Please come home
Please
I really need you
I wish I never learn how to use this shit, honestly, I can’t seem to put my phone down because this is all I have if you right now. I keep checking it to see if you’ve responded but I know you haven’t, but part of me wants you to respond so I know you’re alive.
I’m not ready to say goodbye to you yet.
Sent: 24 hours ago
You slammed the phone down and raced down the hall, you passed the kitchen and everyone who smiled at you because they hadn’t seen you in three months, they probably also thought you were dead.
You stopped right before the door, you could hear soft whimpers coming from inside.
“I miss you,” the voice was muffled.
You opened the door silently, you saw Bucky lying right next to your side of the bed, it was still perfectly made. You also saw what looked like glass shattered by the wall, a closer look and it was his phone.
“Bucky?” You asked.
His head shot up and he sat up straight, after wiping his face he ran right over to you. His hug pushed you back on the floor, he just stayed there.
“Don’t ever do that again, please.” His voice was still shaken, “I can’t go through that again.”
“Never again, i was so worried when I saw your text a minuet ago.” You whispered and ran your fingers through his hair.
“Your name in my phone, your the only one.” He sniffled, “it was like it was taunting me, I got really mad and I threw it.” He hugged you tighter, “you were supposed to come home two days ago.” He cried.
“I know,” you housed him and sat up, as he pulled away he saw your bruised face, his thumb gently traced the purple mark.
“I don’t want a phone, I like knowing about it, but I’ll only ever borrow yours.” He seemed like he was pledging something, like an oath.
“Done deal,” you pulled him in for a long kiss, hoping it would never end.

turning tables
Summary: You're a new recruit but already have a past connected to Steve's.
TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of sexual assault and death.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Word count: 5,491
A/N: Randomly ran with this as the ideas came to me, so hope it's not too messy. Happy New Years!
“(Y/N), I’d like you to meet Steve Rogers.” Natasha had waved in his direction and stepped aside, letting you get closer to him to shake his hand.
“Pleasure.” You said, giving him a smile.
“Steve, this is (Y/N) (Y/L/N), she’s SHIELD’s newest recruit for the Avengers.” You stood up taller, giving a proud nod to confirm what she said. You were currently getting a tour of the Avenger’s tower before Tony’s party tonight. Natasha had said it would be a great chance for you to meet everyone and get to know them better. She was showing you the gym when you ran into Steve.
“What’s your damage?” Steve asked. You smiled at him,
“I can kill people by looking at them.” You bated your eyelashes innocently and giggled at his reaction. He stumbled back slightly. “Don’t worry, I have to be thinking about killing them in order to actually do it.” You wanted to lighten up the mood, so you wagged your finger at him and said in an old lady voice, “So don’t go getting on my bad side young man!” He hesitantly chuckled at your impression, but you could tell that he wanted to run in the other direction. “Right, well… It was lovely meeting you. Thank you for the tour Natasha, but I need to go unpack.” You lied. You’d already finished your unpacking, but you needed an excuse to leave the uncomfortable silence you’d fallen into. You backed away, waving, and turning towards the door. Walking as quickly as you could without being obvious that you were trying to get the hell out of there. Your face turned a bright red as you looked down to your feet and thought about how you just scared the Captain America. You don’t normally like to get into people’s minds unless you must but when you were out of earshot you couldn’t help but eavesdrop into Natasha’s mind to see what they were saying about you.
“They brought someone who can kill us just by thinking about killing us?” Steve looked exasperated.
“She can do more than that.” Nat rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, “She essentially can “hack” into someone’s mind and see what they see, hear what they think, and can control their actions and emotions. She will be an asset to us, especially considering she doesn’t even need to be in the same room as them.” Steve didn’t seem convinced, “Look,” Nat sighed, “She’s a good person who was given a curse. She’s been a lab rat for HYDRA for the past ten years and she needs a place to call home with people that will treat her like she’s human. She doesn’t even have to go on missions if you don’t want her to. It’s your call anyway, Cap.” Steve nodded, his face relaxing, willing to give you a chance.
You didn’t really want to go to Tony’s party tonight, especially after Steve’s reaction to your attempt at cracking a joke. But Natasha had come knocking on your door at promptly 8 o’clock when she told you to be ready by. She assured you she would stand by your side the entire night so you wouldn’t be stuck wondering alone. That lasted a solid 20 minutes into the party. She got pulled away into the crowd, which was a lot bigger than you expected, and you quickly lost her. You decided to make your way to the bar, figuring if you stayed in one obvious place, she’d be able to find you quicker. You sat with your drink, finger tracing the rim when you got bored enough you thought it would be fun to hop from thought to thought and see how others were enjoying the party. Maybe you could live through them and have fun tonight. You saw people sharing battle stories, people talking about some medical advancement, other talking about Thor’s hammer being impossible to lift as they passed it.
One train of thought caught your attention, your back was visible through their eyes, and they were feeling… pity. You scoffed; you were not some pathetic loner who needed pity. You just didn’t know anyone, and you didn’t know who should know who you were and who shouldn’t. You pushed your chair out and got down, deciding to just leave. The eyes followed you, and their pity grew to sadness for you. You were furious, whipping around to see who it was. You planned to confront them, to tell them you were not sad and lonely, and you did not need their pity. You were met with Steve’s blue eyes following your every move. You stopped in your tracks, he looked dashing in his suit. You shook your head slightly, clearing the distraction, you turned back around and headed for the elevator. You’d tell him off tomorrow, no sense in causing a scene. You’d shut all the chatter out, not wanting to hear anyone’s thoughts but your own. You went up to the lounge floor Natasha had shown you earlier. You went over to the fridge, grabbed a water bottle. Getting some popcorn from a cupboard labeled movie night, you put it in the microwave and waited for it to pop. You sipped on the water, watching it spin, lost in the movement. You were pulled from your stare when you heard the elevator ding, someone getting off on this floor. You leaned backwards, looking around the corner to see Steve coming out of the sliding doors.
“(Y/N)?” He asked for you as he followed the sound and light of the microwave. You quickly pretended like you hadn’t seen him and went back to staring at your popcorn. He came around the corner to see you, he leaned against the counter, “Why’d you leave the party?” He wasn’t saying it with a scolding tone, like you assumed Natasha would do to you later. Instead, he was saying it as if he was offended, as if it was his party or something.
You just shrugged, “Got bored.” The microwave beeped, you opened it and pulled out the bag. Shaking it and tearing open the top you took it and your water over to the couch to put on a movie. His eyes followed your every move like they had downstairs.
“I’m sorry about my reaction earlier. I didn’t realize you were joking.” He began apologizing as he walked over to the couch you were now sitting on, you held a hand up, making him stop talking and moving.
“I know what Natasha told you.”
“You were listening?” Steve asked, getting slightly offended that you eavesdropped.
“How could I not? I just embarrassed myself in front of the Captain America. I wanted to make sure you didn’t hate me. Don’t worry, I didn’t listen to your thoughts, only Natasha’s. You could hate me, and I wouldn’t know.” You shrugged again. You knew he didn’t hate you, but instead pitied you. He finished walking over to the couch, you munched on some popcorn.
“I don’t hate you. I just was… taken off guard. I’m sorry about what HYDRA did to you.” You whipped your head towards him at the mention of HYDRA, he flinched at the look you gave him.
“You have no idea what HYDRA did to me. Natasha told you I was their lab rat because that’s what I told her I was. No one will ever know the extent of what they did to me.”
“You can talk to me about it you know. Out of everyone here, I would understand. My best friend was brain-washed into being an assassin by HYDRA and tried to kill me multiple times.”
“James Buchanan Barnes. The Winter Solider. I’m familiar with his… work” You nodded, looking off into the distance.
“Do you know him? Were you guys ever held together?” Steve asked, you could see the desperation in his eyes.
“I was the one they used to brainwash him when their machines and serums stopped working. There’s only so much you can change about someone before they start subconsciously resisting. There was resistance to kill you, I eliminated that resistance.” You took a sip of your water; you could feel the anger rising in him.
“How can you speak so casually about ruining a good man’s life?” He practically spat at you. You swallowed, feeling a lump in your throat, “Bucky thanked me for the relief I gave him. I didn’t ruin him, I kept him from feeling the pain they put him through year after year, decade after decade. I numbed him so he could get the mission done and he could go on living. If he refused a mission, they threatened to kill him. I grew to be fond of him. Sitting in a cell adjacent to his, we’d talk late into the night, keeping each other company. Making each other forget the horrors that awaited us the next day for at least a moment. Only when they would take him away to give him shock therapy and I’d begin to hear him beg for mercy, to beg for the pain to go away, would I help to brainwash him. I sped up their long-drawn out process, not to aid them, but to give him relief.” A tear slipped out of the corner of your eye, you quickly wiped it away. “He was my only friend in that hell hole.” You sniffled. Steve just looked at you in disbelief and began to apologize again, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know…”
“How could you have known?” you exhaled a small laugh and turned your body to him fully, “If it brings you any peace, Bucky’s safe. I’ve been tracking him since my escape from HYDRA. He’s in hiding, trying to do better.”
“Where is he?”
“I… can’t tell you that.” You shook your head, giving him an apologetic smile, “He needs time. Time away from this life and all it brings.” You could tell he didn’t want to accept that answer, but he did understand.
“What else did they have you do for them?” You could tell he was trying to pry more information out of you about Bucky.
“I’ll tell you what they didn’t have me do for them, sit down and watch my favorite movies. So that’s what I’m going to be doing now. You can join me if you’d like, but story time is over.” You turned to the TV and grabbed the remote off the coffee table. You spent the rest of the night in silence except for the TV. You were surprised that Steve stayed as long as he did. You vaguely remember falling asleep at some point during the second movie you’d put on. You fell in and out of consciousness as you felt Steve pick you up and take you up to your room, gently laying you on your bed and covering you up. You woke up fully about an hour after he walked out to change into something more comfortable, the beads of your dress were driving your skin crazy. You got back into bed and started to drift off when you startled back awake realizing you were in your room, not in the lounge. You realized that Steve had carried you back to your bed and you blushed at the hot and cold treatment you’d been giving him since you’d met. He did seem like he was genuinely sorry about reacting the way he did when you first met, yet you still iced him out. You tried to tell yourself it was just anger because you knew he pitied you, but then you realized why he pitied you was because he knew if you’d been through a fraction of what Bucky had been through, you’d had it rough the past ten years. He didn’t pity you because you were alone. You were quick to judge his actions and reactions just as he was quick to judge you. You felt the guilt plague your body and mind.
You didn’t sleep well that night, or any night after that. Day after day you had avoided Steve. You wanted to apologize, but your pride stopped you, reminding you that he also was poorly behaved at times. You managed to avoid him for about two weeks only for that streak to be broken when he sent out a memo for a mandatory meeting. Everyone was required to go, even new recruits. You knew he’d included that line to specifically call you out on potentially skipping but worded it as if you weren’t the only one. You made your way to the conference room and quickly took a seat, furthest from the front where you assumed Steve would be presenting something. You were the first to arrive, so you sat there staring at the clock, getting lost in the movements. Tick. Tick. Tick. At exactly 10AM, Steve walked in, alone.
“You’re early.” He pointed out. You nodded, you thought others might be to. He locked the door behind him and made his way to the head of the table, taking a seat. You looked at the lock on the door, then back to him,
“What’s going on?” You asked
“I lied. This isn’t a mandatory meeting. I just wanted to talk to you. I wanted to apologize for anything I might have said or did on your first day here that might’ve come off wrong or was wrong.” He crossed his arms and leaned back in the chair.
You nod, making a face to show him how impressed you were, “Very clever, sending a mandatory email. So, when did you figure out that I was avoiding you?”
“Oh, I’d say probably around the time when you were eating breakfast with Bruce and you picked up your glass, throwing it across the room and ran out saying you had to go clean that up. Not your smoothest attempt at getting away from me.” He chuckled.
You cursed under your breath, “See… the thing is…” You tried coming up with an excuse for your stupid and reckless actions that morning. In all honesty, he was right, you did do that to avoid him, but it was more so done out of panic rather than to make it obvious you were avoiding him. “Yeah, I’ve got nothing, you caught me. I’m sorry for not just approaching you and talking about how I was feeling. I also wanted to apologize for my behavior that day, but my pride kept telling me you needed to apologize, not me.”
“Not that you ever gave me the chance.” He chuckled again.
“Yeah, probably would’ve helped.” You nodded awkwardly, “What do you say, we start over?” You offered out a hand in a sort of truce. This whole thing was a stupid misunderstanding anyway. He got up and shook your hand, giving you a stunning smile.
The two of you had slowly begun to warm up to each other after that. He often invited you out on runs with him only for the two of you to end up walking and talking about your lives before things got complicated. He told you about his parents and his awkward life pre-serum. You told him about your family and life pre-HYDRA. You were born with your gifts, your family doing their best at hiding them from the world. You were even homeschooled in attempt to keep you hidden. They knew if the wrong people found out about you, you’d become an experiment. It wasn’t until you went off to college that one of your professors noticed some strange behavior from you, and eventually confronted you claiming to just be concerned for you. It turned out they were a HYDRA agent and they followed you home one night, kidnapped you, and brought you to a nearby HYDRA base. As you told Steve this part of your story you could sense the rage rolling off his body in waves. When you’d finished, he asked if you could just run in silence for the rest of the time you normally spent out. You agreed.
One afternoon you were playing a card game with Steve in the lounge when he put his cards down and asked you the same question, he had asked you that first night.
“What did HYDRA do to you?” He looked at you with patience and expectancy. The two of you had become very close over the past year, but that was the one topic you always glossed over when talking. He knew not to pry, but you could feel it eating away at him. You sighed, putting the cards down. You stared at them for a moment, making your eyes focus and unfocus on the shapes to give you a distraction for a moment. After about a minute of silence, you looked up at him and stood up. You held out your hand for him to take and he did so, following your lead. You took him outside to a Willow tree you liked sitting under when the weather was nice. This time you didn’t sit under it, but instead climbed the branches, dropping his hand as you reached for the lowest one. You climbed as if you could escape the question at hand. Once you got a high as you wanted to, he followed your actions and climbed to meet you at the middle of the tree. You sat in silence, looking out at the waterfall of green surrounding you.
“What are we doing out here (Y/N)?” Steve asked you gently. You sighed, knowing you couldn’t escape his curiosity forever.
“I just wanted to come to a peaceful place.” You grabbed a strand of green that floated in front of you and rubbed the soft leaves between your fingers. You let it go and turned your body on the branch so you could face him on his branch. “When I was taken by HYDRA, they began experimenting on me. They exposed me to Loki’s staff, trying to see if they could mutate me. It worked. I originally started out just being able to feel people’s emotions and manipulating them. Now I can do the same with thoughts. It was a painful experience, but still not the worst thing to happen to me. After they mutated me, they left me in my cell to observe my behavior. I wasn’t allowed to leave for a year. It was in that cell I had the most painful experience. The guards who were in charge of observing my behavior and any new developments would come into my cell every once in a while, and they would…” You paused, looking out into the tree again. Getting lost in the soft sway of the branches. You were brought back to yourself when a bird chirped, “They would take advantage of me. The worst part being I could hear every single thought and feeling they had while doing it.” You wouldn’t look at Steve, but you could sense the anger radiating from him. You could feel the shake of his hands as they gripped onto the branch, threatening to snap it in half.
You took a deep breath in, “I… um, I killed one of them after about 5 months of that. That’s when they began training me to be an assassin. Knowing I could do more than just read thoughts or emotions. I could make someone kill themselves without hesitation.” You swallowed the thick lump forming in your throat, “Few more months went by and I got to go out on my first mission with… Bucky. I don’t know who we killed or why, but after that they put Bucky and I together on everything that needed two people. They moved our cells together, and we became the only light in all of the darkness for each other. One night, another guard came into my cell to take advantage of me again. He told me if I tried anything with him he’d slit my throat without hesitation. Bucky screamed at him, but he ignored him. That was the first time I went into Bucky’s mind. I shut his mind down, made him go to sleep. I couldn’t handle the way his voice broke as he lost his mind at what he was seeing. It was after that the guard had realized that I could hijack Bucky’s brain in ways they couldn’t. They used that and my obvious fondness of him, to their advantage and began threatening his life and safety. From then on they stopped sending me on missions, but kept me back, waiting for Bucky to return so I could wipe his mind.” You took a breath to check in on Steve, he was shaking from head to toe with rage, not just for you, but for his long-lost friend as well.
“When he was sent to kill you… When you destroyed almost all their data and records, that’s when I was able to make my escape. SHIELD found me fleeing the base and at first assumed I was a willing asset and was planning on taking me into custody. I explained to them what they had done to me, and they offered me shelter and a home with you guys. They told me that I could go free and do what I wanted, but they wouldn’t be able to protect me in the same way. So, I took them up on their offer.” You finished and finally looked at Steve. His expression was unreadable.
“I’m so sorry.” Was all he could manage,
You shrugged your shoulders, “There’s nothing to be sorry about. What happened, happened, and there is nothing I can do to change it. I could make myself forget, erase my memory of it, but then I would lose the things that make me who I am today, horrific or not.” You gave him a sad smile.
“Do you know who did… those horrible things to you? Do you remember their names?” You could see his plan forming, even without entering his mind. He wanted to hunt them down and kill them. You shook your head, “Your rage is pointless. On my way out I killed every one of them.” You said without remorse, and you feared he would judge you for taking the life of someone and not feeling guilt, but you sensed his anger slightly ease as you told him. The two of you sat in silence until your limbs became stiff from sitting in the tree too long. You stretched your legs out and began to climb back down, followed by Steve. When he landed next to you, he took your hand and gave you a small smile. You squeezed his hand but dropped it and walked away from him.
After that day you hadn’t seen Steve for a few days. He was taken away on a mission and you were left behind with Bruce and Clint who both decided to sit this one out. You were playing a thrilling game of Monopoly with the two of them when Steve came into the lounge without a word, sitting as close to you as possible. You sat thigh to thigh, and he watched your movements as you took your turn in the game. You felt him relax, his emotions settling into a calm. He sat through the rest of your game, only speaking when Clint and Bruce left after losing miserably to you.
“I missed you.” He said, keeping his eyes on you as you put the pieces back into the box. You didn’t look up at him but smirked at his words,
“I can tell.” He chuckled at your remark and began helping you put the pieces away. Something had shifted in your relationship with Steve after you opened up to him. You weren’t sure if it was you letting him into your life completely, or if something about him missing you on his mission that triggered the change, but you weren’t exactly complaining about the shift.
He began to act differently around you. He would watch your every movement when you were in the same room as him. Not in a creepy way, but in a way so he wouldn’t miss anything you did. Like you would slip from his life like a memory if he didn’t take in your every moment together. He would take every opportunity to be touching you as well. That part wasn’t as obvious at first. He started out just brushing past you, making sure your arms touched or your fingers lingered on each other momentarily. Then it became obvious to everyone what he was trying to do. He would always sit as close to you as he could, putting his arm around you if he sensed you were okay with it. He would stand next to you in group conversations, leaning into you subconsciously, like you were a magnet pulling him in. You became his every thought when you weren’t around, and when you were around everything you did became his whole center of attention.
You were anything but oblivious to this change. You might’ve acted like you didn’t notice, so as to not embarrass Steve if you called him out on something he wasn’t ready to talk about. You didn’t mind in the change in his behavior in the slightest. It had been a long time since you had had someone in your life like Steve. Someone who was more than a friend, someone who you were willing to risk it all for. Someone you trusted with your body, thoughts, and feelings. Before Steve, if someone had brushed past you, you’d flinch. You’d cringe into yourself at any contact that wasn’t initiated by you. But Steve’s touch set a fire on your skin that was addictive, and you couldn’t wait to feel again.
Everyone around you became quite aware of the change as well. They never commented on it though, which you could tell was eating Tony alive. You could hear Natasha mentally scolding Tony as she shot him a dangerous look if he dared to open his mouth around the two of you. It made you giggle to yourself, but you were eternally grateful for her. You didn’t know what you were to Steve, but you knew what he was to you and you didn’t want anything to ruin that.
One day Steve had come home from a mission and instead of going to his room to shower or change he went straight to you in the lounge and laid stomach down on the couch, placing his head in your lap. You ran your hands through his hair, not minding the sweat or dirt. The first time he ever did this, you cringed at how badly he needed a shower, but you’d eventually came around to it and stopped caring. He hummed at the feeling of your fingers on his scalp. You set your book down on the coffee table and lifted his head up enough to stand up. You coaxed him up off the couch and he lazily held your hand as you pulled him to your room. Your room had a bathtub, but his didn’t. You’d never let him use it before, but you were afraid he’d fall asleep in the shower if he tried standing for long enough to get clean. You opened your door and locked it behind Steve.
You pulled him into your bathroom and sat him down on the toilet seat. Turning on the hot water in the bath, you added some bubbles and bath salts. You pulled some vanilla candles from under the sink and placed them carefully around the room, lighting them and then turning your attention back to Steve after you turned off the faucet. He was watching you walk back and forth, but didn’t say a word. You walked over to him, standing between his legs, you cupped his face and had him look up at you. You brushed the hair from his eyes and gave him a soft smile, which he lazily returned. You examined his face for any cuts, but saw none. You kissed his forehead, and whispered, “Can you stand up for me?” He nodded slightly and you backed up to give him room. He stood in front of you, and you stepped back in front of him. Your fingers grazed over the zipper of his uniform and you slowly pulled it down. Pulling the shoulders off, you revealed his strapping chest and shoulders. He actually took your breath away.
You tossed the top half of his uniform into the hamper you had by the door and turned back to him. He had gained a little bit more awareness of what was happening when he realized he was shirtless in front of you. It woke him up completely, making his face burn red. You smiled at him, “Do you want to finish and get in the tub?” He nodded, walking over to the tub, you stayed with your back turned to him until you heard the soft splash of him getting into the water. You picked up the last of his clothes, tossing them to the hamper. You went out to your room and grabbed a small foot stool from next to your couch and brought it next to the tub. You sat down and grabbed your shampoo bottle. Squirting a small amount onto your hands you began massaging the sweet-smelling liquid into his scalp. He let out a small moan of thanks at the feeling. You blushed but kept working on lathering up his hair. You took a nearby bowl that you’d use to rinse your hair in the bath, filled it with some water from the tub, scooping out the bubbles, and poured it over Steve’s head, covering his eyes with your empty hand. You took your conditioner and repeated. Steve nearly fell asleep this time, loving the scents and the feel of you being so near. When you finished you told him to get out when he was ready and rinse off in the shower. You got up to go get him clothes from his room.
You made your way to his room, opening the door and turning on the light. You shut the door except for a crack, and began walking towards his dresser. You stopped and smiled when you saw a picture of you with him that Sam had taken. You were under the Willow tree, you were smiling at the camera, but Steve was looking down at you. That day was one of your favorite memories, but you never got to see the picture Sam took. He had told you it didn’t come out good and he ended up having to delete it. You were disappointed but dropped it. You couldn’t understand why he would lie to you about it, until you looked closer at Steve. He wasn’t just looking down at you, he had a stupid lopsided grin on his face. It was the face of someone in love. You looked down at the clothes in the drawer you’d opened. You smiled to yourself. He loved you, was the only thought you had. You grabbed some underwear, sweats and a shirt, closed the drawers and left his room, shutting the door tightly. You made your way back to your room and was met with Steve sitting on your bed with a towel around his waist. He was leaning back on his hands, waiting. He sat up when you opened the door and stood up to grab the clothes. He muttered a thanks as he went back into the bathroom to change. He came out of the bathroom when he was done and started heading towards the door to leave for the night, but you stopped him by grabbing his hand. He turned his body to face you, looking all over your face to see what you needed.
“Do you love me?” You asked desperately. His mouth dropped open, opening and closing, lost on what to say. You felt the overwhelming anxiety fill his body. For a second you had feared you screwed up, but he quickly pulled you into him, cupping your face and kissing you. It set your body on fire to be held by him like this, to be touched by him like this. He kissed you like you were the only person he’d ever loved, like he was desperate to be as close to you as he possibly could. When he finally pulled away, he kissed each of your cheeks, your nose, and then landed on your forehead, staying there for a moment, “Of course I love you.” His breath fanned out across your skin, sending a chill to tame the fire burning every inch of your skin. You stepped back a little to look up at him, his hands falling from your face. You grabbed his hands and pulled him to your bed, “Then stay with me.”

Do you think Jason Todd fandom is kinda toxic? Because it seems like NO MATTER what DC do, there'll always be complains. Forget the bad adaptation like Titans. Even Judd Winick cannot escape the criticism with how he potrayed Robin!Jason. They just never satisfied.
SORRY, IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO RESPOND TO THIS. I just moved from Washington D.C. to Seattle, which, for my non-American friends, that's 4442km away. And I DROVE THERE ALL BY MYSELF. And now I'm trying to find new work in a new city and trying to stay mentally healthy and positive. Life is exciting but hard and scary.
*sighs*
As someone who was a fandom elder with V*ltr*n. I've seen some of the worst when it comes to fandom behavior. I'm talking people baking food with shaving razors and trying to give them to the showrunners. I'm talking leaking major plot details and refusing to take it down unless they make their ship canon (I am looking at you, Kl*nce stans) For the most part, DC Comics has had a decades-long reputation of treating their fans like trash and not caring what they think so from what I've seen, we all just grumble and complain in our corners of the internet about how we don't like how X comic portrays Jason Todd.
The challenge with Jason Todd is that he's your clinical anti-hero, the batfamily's Draco in Leather Pants, he's a jerkass woobie, and on top of all of that, he's a Tumblr sexyman. It's a perfect storm for a very fun but frustrating character to be a fan of. It doesn't help that every writer decides to re-invent the wheel every time Jason comes up so his canon lore is confusing at best and inconsistent as a standard.
I guess starting with a general brief on who Jason is and what is uniform about him with every instance he's appeared in comics/media.
Grew up in a poor family in Gotham with a dad who was a petty-mid-level criminal, and a mother who dies of a drug overdose.
Survives on the street on his own by committing petty crimes and potentially even engaging in sexual acts to keep himself alive.
Is cornered by Batman and taken in after Dick Grayson quits/is fired
Becomes the second Robin, but is known for being the harsher, more brutal Robin.
Is killed by Joker after being tortured, but somehow comes back to life and regains senses through the Lazarus Pit
Resolves himself to be better than Batman by basically being Batman but kills people.
Where there has been a lot of conflict in the fandom is the fact that Jason Todd is not a character that is written consistently. DC Comics loves to go with the narrative that Jason was "bad from the start" and was the "bad robin" when, yes, he has trouble controlling his anger, but he also still is just as invested in seeing the best of Gotham City and trying to be a positive change for the world as any other DC Comics hero.
Where I get frustrated with the fandom is its ability to knit-pick every detail of a comic they don't like while completely disregarding everything that makes the comics great and worth it to read. My example being Urban Legends. To which most people had pretty mixed reactions to. I was critical of the comic at first but as it went along I ended up really liking it. I have a feeling DC Comics went to Chip Zdarsky and told him he had 6 issues to bring Jason back into the Bat Family, and honestly he didn't do a bad job. Did it feel rushed? Absolutely. I wish there was more development of Jason and Bruce's characters and their dynamic as a whole. However, where I see a lot of people being angry and upset with Urban Legends is that they feel Zdarsky needlessly wrote Jason as an incompetent fool who needs Bruce to save him.
Whether or not that was the intention of Zdarsky is up to debate. However, and this may be controversial, but I don't think he wrote Jason Todd out of character at all. For as fearsome, intimidating, and awesome as Red Hood is. Jason is a character who is absolutely driven by his emotions. Why do you think he donned the role of Red Hood? As a response to his anger towards The Joker for killing him, and towards Bruce for not taking action against The Joker and for seemingly replacing him so quickly after he died. Jason didn't care about being the murderous Robin Hood or for being the bloody hammer of justice against N*zi's and P*d*ph*les. He only cared originally about making The Joker and Bruce pay. It wasn't until he trained under the best assassins in the world and realized most of them were horrific criminals who trafficked children and were p*dos that Talia began to realize that the teachers that she sent Jason to train under started dying horrific and painful deaths.
The entire story of the Cheer story in Batman Urban Legends was started because it finally forced some consequences upon Jason. Tyler, aka Blue Hood's father was a drug dealer who gave his supply to his wife and kids. And when Tyler's father admitted he gave the drugs to Tyler, it immediately made him fall within the self-imposed philosophical kill-list of Jason Todd. And Jason, well, he proceeds to kill Tyler's father. When this happens, Jason is in shock. Tyler's dad fit the bill to easily and justifiably be killed by Jason. We've never seen Jason having to deal with the consequences of being a murderous vigilante on a micro-level. When Jason realizes what he's done in that he's murdered Tyler's dad, he's shocked. He tells Babs the truth. He does a rational thing because he's in shock. He doesn't know what to do, he never has had to face the consequences of his actions as Red Hood and now the gravity of befriending a child as a vigilante hero who kills people just set in when he killed the father of the same child he was just introduced to.
(Oh here's a little aside because it had to be said, Jason would not have been a good father or a good mentor to Tyler and absolutely should not have been his new Robin. Jason is a man who is in his early 20's (not saying men in their early 20's can't be good fathers at all) who is a brutal serial killer using the guise of a vigilante anti-hero to let him escape most of the law. the complications of having the man who murdered your father adopt you and make you his sidekick are way too numerous for me to explain in a long-winded already heavy Tumblr essay post. There's a reason why we don't advocate for a story where Joe Chill adopted Bruce Wayne or one where Tony Zucco took in Dick Grayson.)
The next biggest argument is that they feel that Jason is giving up his guns as a means to just be invited back into the Bat-Family. To which I will tell anyone who has that argument to go actually read Urban Legends. Already have and still have that argument? Please re-read it. Don't want to? That's okay, I will paste the images from the comic where Jason specifically says that he doesn't want to give up his weapons for Bruce and his real reasoning down below since the comic isn't exactly readily accessible.
Jason gave up the guns because he felt the gravity of what he had done and knows how it'll effect Tyler. Thankfully his mom is alive and in recovery. But Tyler doesn't have a father anymore. And Jason killed Tyler's father. It may have been in accordance to Jason's philosophy, but it was a case where it blurred the lines. Jason Todd isn't a black and white character, just very dark gray. He doesn't kill aimlessly like the Joker. If you are on Jason's list you probably have done something pretty horrific, and also just in general, being in his way or being a threat to him. Mind you, in early days of Red Hood and the Outlaws (Image below) Jason almost killed 10 innocent civilians in a town in Colorado all because they saw him kill a monster. That being said, Jason isn't aimless in his kills.
(Also can we just take a moment to appreciate Kenneth Rocafort's art? DC Comics said we need to rehabilitate Jason Todd's image and Kenneth Rocafort said hold my beer: It's so SO GOOD)
That being said, the key emphasis in the story of Cheer asides from trying to introduce Jason Todd back into the Bat Family and give an actual purpose for him being there, other than him just kind of being there ala Bowser every time he shows up for Go Kart racing, Tennis, Golf, Soccer, and the Olympic games when Mario invites him, is that Jason and Bruce ultimately both want the same thing. Jason wants to be welcomed back into the family and to be loved and appreciated. Bruce want's Jason back as his son and wants to love and protect Jason. Both of these visions are shown in the last chapter of Cheer while under the effect of the Cheer Gas. It's ultimately this love and appreciation they both have for each other that helps them overcome their challenge and win.
Jason Todd is a character who, just like Bruce, has been through so much pain and so much hate in his life. The two are meant to parallel each other. While Bruce chose to see the best in everyone, giving every rogue in his gallery the option to be helped and give them a second chance, hence why he never kills, Jason has a similar view on wanting to protect the public, but he understands that some crimes are so heinous they cannot be forgiven, or that some habitual criminals are due to stay habitual criminals, and need to be put down. But at the end of the day, the two of them both try to protect people in their own ways.
I am aware that through the writings of various DC Comics authors such as Scott Lobdell and Judd Winick, the two have had a very tumultuous relationship. And rightfully so, I am by no means saying that Scott Lobdell writing an arc where Bruce literally beats Jason to within an inch of his life in Red Hood and the Outlaws, nor Judd Winick's interpretation of Under the Red Hood where Bruce throws the Batarang at Jason's neck, slicing his throat and leaving him ambiguously for dead at the end of the comic is appropriate considering DC Comics seems to be trying everything they can to integrate Jason back into the family. That being said, a lot of these writings have shaped the narrative of Jason and Bruce's relationship and have an integral effect on the way the fandom views the two. It doesn't help that Zdarsky acknowledged Lobdell's life-beating of Jason by Bruce at the very end of Cheer by having Bruce give Jason his old outfit back as a means of mending the fence between the two of them. That does complicate a lot of things in terms of how they are viewed by the fandom and helps to cause an even greater divide between the two.
Regardless, I want to emphasize the fact that Jason Todd is a part of the family of his own accord. Yes, he's quite snarky and deadpan in almost every encounter. However, Jason is absolutely a part of the family and has been for a while of his own will. There's a great moment in Detective Comics that emphasizes this. Jason cares about his family because it is his found family. Yes, they may be warry about him and use him as a punching back and/or heckle him. At the end of the day, we're debating the family dynamics of a fictional playboy billionaire vigilante whose kleptomania took the form of adopting troubled children and turning them into vigilante heroes. Jason Todd wants a family that will love and support him. This is a key definition of his character at its most basic. This was proven during the events of Cheer and is being reenforced by DC Comics every time they get the opportunity to do so.
Now, none of this is to say that I hate Judd Winick. I do not, I don't like the fact that in all of his writings of Jason, he just writes him as a dangerous psychopath, and Winick himself admits to seeing Jason as nothing much more than a psychopath. Yet Winick is the one who the majority of the fandom clings to as the one true good writer of Jason Todd because 'Jason was competent, dangerous, smart' Listen, friends, Jason is all of that and I will never deny it. However, what I love about Jason isn't that he's dangerously smart of that writers either write him as angsty angry Tumblr sexyman bait or that they write him as an infantile man child with a gun. There's a large contention of this fandom that has an obsession with Jason Todd being this vigilante gunman who is hot and sexy and while I definitely get the appeal. It is very creepy and downright disturbing that all of you hyperfixate on his use of guns and ability to be a murderer. It is creepy and I'm not necessarily here for it.
What I love about Jason Todd is that despite all of the pain, all of the heartache, all of the betrayal, and bullying, and death, and anguish. Jason Todd is one of the most loving and supportive characters in all of DC Comics. Jason has been through so much in his life, but he still chooses to love. He still chooses to see the bright side in people. Yes, he takes a utilitarian approach and chooses to kill certain villains, but at the end of the day he wants to see a better world, and he wants to be loved. It takes so much courage and so much heart to learn to love again after one has been abused or traumatized. I would not blame Jason at all if he said fuck it and just went full solo and vigilante evil. He has every right to, but he still chooses to be with the Bat Family of his own accord. That's something that I see a lot of in myself. I have been through a lot of trauma and yet I try to be a better person myself in any way that I can. It is extremely admirable of Jason to allow love back into his heart when he really doesn't need to. He kills and he protects because he has this love of society. It may have been shaped by anger and hatred, but Jason has found his place amongst people who love him and value him. I think Ducra, from Red Hood and the Outlaws put it best in the image given below.
To end this tangent, I love Jason Todd and all of his sexy dangerousness, but it's far more than that. As much as Jason may be dangerous and snarky, he loves his family without a shadow of a doubt. I look up to Jason Todd because despite all of his pain and all of his trauma, he still choses to love. Jason Todd is a character who is someone I love because despite all of his flaws and having a very toxic fandom, he still serves as a character filled with so much heart and so much passion. I wish more writers would understand that. But for now I will live with what I have. Even though the fandom may be vocal about it's hatred for his characterization, I choose to love Jason regardless because he is a character who chooses love and acceptance regardless of his pain. Jason Todd is by no means a good person in any sense of the word. He has easily killed upwards of 100 people by now. He is a character who is flawed and complex but ultimately is one who powers forwards and finds love and heart in a place from so much pain and anguish. That is what I love about Jason Todd. After all, to quote a famous undead robot superhero, "What is grief, if not love persevering?" Jason Todd chooses to love despite all of the trauma and pain and grief. Yes, he is hardened in his exterior, but inside there is a man with a lot of love to give and someone who deserves the world in my eyes.

Was it two weeks since the snap they said at the start of endgame? Because I'm kinda curious abt brice's reaction when thor either tells him about how he survived or doesn't. Bruce just kind of figures it out himself
hello anon sorry for the incredibly delayed response, but i decided to write a small fic of my take on this! check it out under the cut:
“I knew you’d come back to me”
check it out on ao3 here
When they returned to the compound, everything was exactly how they left it.
It was as if this world altering event hadn’t happened. Inside the compound, it was as though the entire team would walk back in after the battle. But they wouldn’t. Half of them were gone.
Nobody had really accepted what had happened yet and it seemed like everyone was moving in slow motion. They retreated to corners of the compound where their breakdowns couldn’t be publicised. Steve and Nat attempted contact with missing team members. They tried to find Tony, and turned to Bruce for help.
“I’m really not the person to ask,” Bruce grimaced, taking a seat at the table.
“Bruce, you were the last person to see him on Earth.” Steve reasoned, “Please. Just try and think back. Do you have any idea where he went? What he was doing?”
“He was following the wizard,” Bruce answered, squeezing the bridge of his nose. “Hulk wouldn’t come out and so they banished me— it was a whole thing. I wasn’t there.”
“A wizard?” Nat asked, sharing a look with Steve that she clearly thought Bruce wouldn’t see.
“They took him on their ship, and Tony followed him. That’s all I know. I don’t know where they were going,” Bruce answered, anger flaring up inside him. Not at them, but at himself for being useless. “I’m sorry, you guys. I’m sorry.”
“Well what about Thor?” Steve asked. “What went on with you guys before you came back to Earth? Maybe he knows where Tony is, maybe he saw him.”
“He didn’t,” Bruce snapped, both Steve and Nat flinching at his response. “Don’t— I gotta go.”
He stood up, not bothering to tuck his chair away on exit, leaving Steve and Nat staring at him dumbfounded.
“Bruce—“ Nat called after him.
“Let him go.” Steve’s voice became quieter the further he walked.
Bruce stalked the hallways of the compound with one destination in mind. He didn’t stop until he appeared at Thor’s room, trying to ignore the empty rooms along the way of his fallen team mates.
Except when he arrived at Thor’s room, the door that was usually left wide open, was shut.
He hesitated. Knocked.
Bruce heard shuffling from behind the door and before he could walk away, Thor opened the door.
“Banner,” His face softened as he saw Bruce.
He only walked past Thor and into his room, shutting the door behind him. Thor hesitated by the door before he turned around to face Bruce.
“Why did you do that?” Bruce asked, feeling his nerves get the better of him.
“Excuse me?” Thor asked, “Do what?”
“Why did you get Heimdall to send me back to Earth?” Bruce felt his lip quiver as he spoke and he balled his fists angrily.
Thor sighed, “Bruce—“
“No, Thor, why? Why didn’t you let me stay and help fight?” Bruce was shouting now. “Because I could’ve helped. I wasn’t done. You had no right to just send me away.”
“Thanos had already wounded you enough,” Thor murmured, “We needed someone to warn the others of his plan, that he was coming.”
“Bullshit,” Bruce snapped, “Why did you really do it?”
“You wouldn’t have survived the decimation of the ship. He wiped everyone out minutes after you were gone. He killed—“ Thor stopped and took a breath. “I didn’t want your death to be on my hands, too.”
Bruce’s frown fell. “But everyone—“
“You’re strong, Banner, I know that more than anyone, but you’re not Asgardian strong,” Thor took a seat on the edge of his bed. “We had more of a chance of surviving the decimation than you did.”
“You shouldn’t have made that decision for me, Thor.”
“Well I did. Okay?” Thor snapped now, and Bruce flinched. “Earth needed you and will continue to need you now more than ever. Heimdall knew that. I knew that.”
Bruce took a seat next to Thor in the silence. His room was bare and cold. It was never really his home. He was never there. But now he had nowhere else to go, so it became a home to him with such severity that it made Bruce ache. There was nothing here to remind him of his family and his people.
“I’m sorry,” Bruce spoke quietly, trying to diffuse the awkwardness that had suddenly risen. “What happened after I left?”
Thor continued to stare at the floor. “He killed Heimdall. However many Asgardians he didn’t kill probably died when he decimated the ship.”
“And you?” Bruce asked. “How did you survive?”
Thor paused, and Bruce could hear him take a shaky breath. “I don’t know. I shouldn’t have.”
Bruce shook his head. “Thor—“
“I gave up,” He said. “I wanted to be with Loki. In my final moments.”
Bruce took a sharp intake of breath— Loki. Thor didn’t enter Wakanda with Loki. He was nowhere to be seen.
“Thanos,” Bruce tried. “He—“
“Killed Loki,” Thor nodded his head emphatically. “Yeah.”
Bruce felt bile in his throat as he watched Thor try to hold it together. The gap between them was stupid, and Bruce shuffled closer to Thor instantly. He needed to be there in case Thor collapsed.
“I’m so sorry, Thor,” Bruce answered, hesitantly placing a hand on Thor’s arm. He didn’t flinch, and his arm was warm, so Bruce squeezed it slightly in recognition.
Thor looked at him for the first time since he entered the room. “One minute I was resigned and ready to die with Loki, and the next I was inside the Rabbit’s ship. I don’t know how I got there or what kept me alive. But here I am.”
Bruce nodded. “I’m glad you’re here. I’m glad his Snap didn’t take you. Even if you might wish it did.”
Thor nodded too before finally letting his tears get the better of him. He collapsed, much to Bruce’s expectation, and Bruce had never been more thankful for intuition. He held onto Thor as he cried, feeling his arms wrap around his body in response.
Bruce didn’t know how long they stayed there, but he found himself crying, too.
