he is always happy when you want to cook with him or vise versa

the orange in your hand doesn't really pair well with the lasagna he is making but he brushes it off, just focusing on the task at hand to not cut his fingers

you take off your shoes, coat, and purse, placing the orange on the counter with your belongs before you scoot off to the restroom to change out of your work clothes and get washed up to help prep dinner

he thinks for a minute and decides to stop his work and peel the orange for you, also getting you a glass of water and a small bowl of mixed nuts, the perfect post-work pre-dinner snack

he also sneaks some nuts for himself (he loves almonds)

when you return to the kitchen he smiles and starts asking about your day

you sit on the bar stool in front of him and notice the snack and water that wasn't there 5 minutes ago

"for me?" you question

"for you" he says with a slight grin, thinking nothing of it

you can't believe how lucky you are to have a man who doesn't need step by step instructions to be thoughtful or affectionate

"can you put down the knife" you ask, rounding the counter to be by his side

he does so and you give him the tightest hug

you stay like that for a while because he is never the one to pull back from a hug first

Hannibal (A-Team)

you meet up with him in his make shift barracks, which is really a tent on desert terrain but at least it is some privacy for the two of you, away from his team

he greets you with a hug and a cocked brow when he sees the picnic basket you've placed on his bed

"what did you pack?" he asks, placing the basket on his lap to make room for the two of you to sit and go through the contents of the basket

he pulls out some meaty sandwiches you made for him, since you aren't too big a fan of deli products, miscellaneous fruits including oranges, and two cans of sparkling water to quench the thirst

ever the show off he declares a challenge

"you know I can peel these in one piece" he says pointing to the orange you just picked up to eat

"I'll believe it when I see it" you egg him on

you know this is just a rouse for him to peel it for you and not get any juices on your pretty dress or have to lift a single finger when around your strong boyfriend

he also feels indebt to you for making him such a lovely, impromptu lunch date

you were impressed to see he wasn't just blowing smoke and was actually able to peel it in one piece

watching his skilled hands be so delicate to such a fragile fruit was relaxing, and (not going to lie) a bit of a turn on

he hands you back the orange ready to eat and you, so cheeky, squeeze one of the wedges at him to splash him with the citrus's juice

with a mouth full of his sandwich he retorts, "I'll get you back when you least expect it, doll"

he found you under and orange tree reading your book of poetry, enjoying the chirping birds and soft wind dancing on your hair

laying down by your side you extended your legs, an open invitation for him to rest his head on your lap as you read aloud to him

after a short time your belly began to growl, alerting him to your hunger

You lean up and say, "I'll just grab a ripe orange"

but he stops you, gently laying you back down against the tree and reaches up to grab the juiciest looking one

"let me feed you, my love" he'll say, not only peeling the orange for you but then ripping a part the wedges to feed you piece by piece

The name used to be italiangirlwithanenglishheart, because ever since I started to be fluent in English I have been speaking and thinking in English and have always feel more connected to English things then Italian ones.

I can't pick dude. If you just want me to ramble about media, I'll start by talking about some pieces that have positively surprised me.

• Spaceman

Tuned in for the hot spider from the instagram clips, stayed for the interesting social commentary. I'm sure it would help a fuck ton of cis men if they just watched it. I loved Hanuš even more than I expected. Turns out an emotionally wise & relatable alien is better than one that would gut me after all.

• Pop Team Epic (season 1 especially)

It's one of those out-of-pocket pieces of media that have a ridiculous production value and passion behind it. Like, genuine production value. It's like anything Studio Trigger has made. An old friend and I were obsessed with PTE during the pandemic and pretty much made it half our personality to like it and other media like it (e.g. Way of a House Husband, nyan neko sugar girls, Backstreet Girls (That was a solid 6/10. Good watch dude). I also have Cromartie High School on my watchlist we'll see how that goes)

Now onto some books & poetry

As some may know from reading my fics & following my Lawlight obsession, I'm a big fan of poetry. I enjoy Goete a lot. He's the only name I've consistently been satisfied by. Naturalism is just my tea, as is pretty plain to see in anything I create. I'm bad at reading due to ADHD but I get it done sometimes. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is insane. Paradise Lost is great. Can you tell I get my book recommendations from Wendigoon? Holes by Louis Sachar reminds me of kids at Wammy's House but also I like it because every plot point in it leads to a perfect circle and I never fail to be amazed by good writing like that.

My favorite music genre is anything that counts as goth music. Sometimes emo if MSI is emo (I know and I'm sorry. Guilty pleasure). Darkwave & Post-Punk are my go-to for over half the year, but I listen to anything if it captures a vibe well. Anything from Mitski & Penelope Scott to Depeche Mode, Twin Tribes, Vestron Vulture & Bragolin to Lady Gaga (empress of my childhood) to Odetari. Oddly enough, however, my favorite band is Glass Animals. Zaba is a masterpiece, but I love several songs from their other albums too (Hot Sugar, Pork Soda, Life Itself...)

I'm not a huge fan of irl shows but I have enjoyed all 6 seasons of Peaky Blinders for the second time last month and have seen Interview With The Vampire a couple months back. That one also left me extremely surprised with how good it was. I've been disappointed by 'queer' stories before. They were scrubbed of any realism and dumbed down to make them more palatable, which I just couldn't watch for the life of me. As you may know, IWTV is the complete opposite of that lol. I've also peeked into Hannibal a couple times. It was good but I don't have time like that.

• [Naoki Urasawa's] Monster (animated by Madhouse♡ I've been considering rewatching that too...)

• Madoka Magica (the themes are Crazy.)

• Chainsaw Man (as fucked as they are, Mappa's creative team absolutely devoured. The outros are all incredible)

• Buddy Daddies (>>>>Spy X Family)

• Dandadan is looking pretty good

• The Summer Hikaru Died manga (impressive pacing, stunning art work, stellar character writing👌)

• Over The Garden Wall🎃🍂🌲🖤

• Arcane (a masterclass in character writing)

Aaand • Gravity Falls because it's literally so good, not just as nostalgia

• every single Pirates of the Caribbean movie (how had I never seen them as a child? Kinda happy about it though. Now i got to enjoy it with my adult mind spoiler-free)

last book - okay this is kinda boring, it was for my degree, it's follas novas by rosalía de castro - it was interesting but i read it in such a rush bc i had to read it and two others of her poetry books in literally two days and then write an essay about them lmao but i did it!! and i liked the poems!!

looking forward to - i'm going to a talk about 'sex dreams in the ancient world' later tonight which i'm intrigued about (they also have free wine and snacks) OH and also i bought a bunch of tomatoes just now and i'm gonna make soup for dinner!!

I kinda feel like I have to elaborate on that post I made last Wednesday about the shout-out to my therapist indulging my Hannibal hyperfixation because my experience with combining Hannibal with my therapy is actually really interesting.

So, I personally have really high empathy and a tendency to internalize other people's emotions and problems. It's manageable now but it was a lot worse when I was younger. And my whole life (especially before I realized I was autistic), I felt a lot of the times that there weren't a lot of people like me, at least not in the spaces around me or in the media I was viewing. Then lo and behold, I come across NBC Hannibal. And Will Graham changed everything for me.

I finally found someone who knew what it felt like to want to rip out of your own skin because your own thoughts and feelings don't seem to be yours, to want to hide from the world and from people because you definitely won't pick up on just their good habits, but their bad ones as well. I finally found someone who didn't know who they were except for a few key points, those being unstable and misunderstood and different. I see myself in Will Graham, but he's also important because I see him carrying out this violent sort of justice that I've always kind of wished I could act out on those who wronged me or misdiagnosed me or ostracized me.

And my therapist is just taking all this and running with it. She lets me read the poetry I write for the show, and infodump about things that happen in the show and theories and headcanons that I love. She's open to listening about the murders and how they're cool and sometimes beautiful and there's so much meaning in them that I wish I could apply to my own life at times. She's super cool because we've set this boundary of understanding that the way things are played out in Hannibal is unorthodox and fantastical and generally unrealistic, but also we understand that I can still relate to and deal with my worst feelings through this unreality.

And, I don't know, I guess what I'm trying to say is, sometimes we relate really heavily to something that might seem weird or unhealthy to others, but other times, good can be found in having a fictional outlet that takes the bad or overwhelming feelings away from us, and you shouldn't be ashamed if a piece of media is helping you in some way, even if the piece of media is dark, or silly, or romanticized. My therapist has helped me see that, and I thought it would be helpful for others to hear. 💗
