cannot stop thinking about a romanced Lavellan being the default world state. it seems like no big deal at first until you realize that it’s the world state that all new players to the franchise will use. it is the world state they chose for people who are brand new to the world and its characters. it’s the world state they chose to get new people invested in the world. whatever happens in that world state isn’t just for us, who have been eagerly waiting, but is significant enough that they want every single brand new player to see it, to experience those scenes. i need to lay down

Introducing my new Courier, Hudson!! Defining traits are cowboy, mama’s boy, and tragic amnesiac.

His mother stitched his name onto his hat, which is the only reason he remembers it in Doc. Mitchell’s office. Believing that his mother was waiting for his pay back home, he sets off to find the platinum chip, not realizing until later, when speaking to Benny (who knew Hudson’s mother, due to the fact she was a gambler) that she had been murdered by the Legion two entire years prior, and Hudson had gotten a job at the Mojave Express so he could gather enough funds to take revenge.

Anyway his story will definitely get more fleshed out as I get further into the game but I’m already having a lot of fun with him! Other fun facts about him: he was a bighorn rancher and tamed one to help him with his deliveries. He finds it in the wastes with the saddle still on and almost shoots it when it runs towards him. He lassoed Benny in the Lucky 38 to keep him from running away and broke his nose cuz he slammed into the floor so hard. And he’s also EXTREMELY susceptible to sunburns, which is why he’s mostly covered head to toe. His mom used to make him radaway salves to help when the UV was too high :’)

seeing ppl say that theyre going to kiss and hug all his trauma away makes me insane bc thats so not how it works 😭😭😭 not to be "u don't understand him like i do" but CMON... that sort of trauma doesnt work like that.... its not a "romance fixes everything" situation.... and i know half the time ppl are just being somewhat silly and not actually serious but i just get so irritated w the trope of "just get into a relationship and it'll fix all ur trauma :]" bc its EVERYWHEREEE

One of my red flags (? Is that the right term to use) is probably the fact that I want my ocs to be happy and have good relationships, which takes away the funny and the interesting. The trauma is there but I won't rest unless they have a good ending. Would it be more interesting if the ending was bad? Surely. Do I have the guts to do it? Absolutely not. Wouldn't it be interesting for 2 of my ocs to have a toxic relationship whose themes are explored and made interesting? Yes but I'll be sad if my character and their significant other aren't all cutesy and happy with one another. I would be making an antagonist/villain with the idea that my characters will finally dislike someone, but then I feel bad for them, give them a redemption arc and throw them in the main group. They're all friends now. In the early stages of a story I am making a character used to be the main villain set out to conquer the world (don't comment on it I was 12) and now he's a very innocent and sensitive person

i haven’t played ffxiv so I can’t comment on zenos as a character or the narrative reasons people find him polarizing, but:

the character i’m talking about (his name’s palawa joko) doesn’t show up until a little over halfway through all the story we have so far, and sticks around for the equivalent of about half an expansion, and then he’s a special guest for halloween. joko is kind of a lot, just as a person, and we all have fun with it, but he’s not actually on-screen very much. so if you end up not liking him, it won’t affect the large majority of the story campaign.

halloween is THE guild wars 2 holiday. come with me, we’re going to run around in circles in a decrepit, hallowed nightmare dimension, killing plastic spiders and glow-in-the-dark skeletons and candy corn elementals. the looming ghosts of a deposed pumpkin-headed king and the lich who wanted to fuck you so bad before your daughter ate him for breakfast are going to make gay passive-aggressive digs at each other every other minute like you’re not even there. sometimes steve is there too
