What the FUCK is going on with the Henry-William dynamic and why theyre like That because i think ive put this post off long enough:

Okay so the simplest answer I can give you is codependence. Thats the only way i can describe their dynamic. Henry needs William and William needs Henry! This isnt in a strictly romantic or strictly platonic sense, either. They were both set to meet at one of the lowest points in their life with only each other to go to, so its just easier for them to just stick with each other. Williams trust is fucked up and Henry is just..he just likes having William around because they understand each other. I mean, both of them had suffered through shitty childhoods with Henry having a deadbeat mother and living in poverty and William with an abusive father. They just get each other and it just brought them closer to the point they just couldnt live without each other.

Now, their relationship also isnt the healthiest, either. Its full of jealousy and the whole "I need you" thing just fucks them up a lil bit more. At the same time, though, its worse for them to be apart. I mean, they genuinely need each other to feel okay because each of them posesses qualities the other doesnt, and being apart for too long brings them genuine distress. Thats why theyre always either written, or drawn together. Theyre a pair and its rare for them to be separated if not by force.

Though the main reason I talk about them not being healthy is heavily influenced by how Henry reacts to Williams death: erraticly. I mean, he loses himself the moment William "leaves him."(Thats what it feels like to him, at least.) He becomes impulsive, self destructive, etc because the fact of the matter is, he genuinely needed william to feel okay. William knew Henry for around 25 years, taking up the better part of his life, and when hes always there, Henry didnt really think it was possible to live a life without him there, so ultimately Henry didnt care if he himself died afterwards. He naturally stopped caring because ein his eyes, he was living for william. With william gone, he basically lost the one thing he was living for and the only reason he stayed another 6 months was because he wasnt actively trying to die, it just happened when he was being careless.

On a seperate note, and the question I keep being asked, are they dating? And for that, Its kind of complicated. They arent just friends, but they arent really dating, either. Its something in between, especially post-war when theres no reason that theyre ever apart. They take on an almost domestic kind of style with each other? Like theres more physical touch than one would deem "friendly" whether that be a hand on the cheek, playing with hair, etc. But its for means of comfort. But do they have feelings for each other? By 1785, yeah, but nothing is done about it. They were content being their own thing that isnt romantic and isnt platonic and yayy good for them they were happy with each other and a little bit gay and a LOTTA bit codependent but thats basically their dynamic ^_^

well first of all you bring up the very good point that there are actually multiple Qs at play and not just one, despite the fandom's (and my) attempts to simplify things. I personally am open to the possibility that Harry and Louis are no longer together- we don't have enough info to say for sure either way about that, and I am constantly recalibrating and considering and I'm going to be totally honest, getting flat out ANNOYED at how often I find myself being like oh damn they ARE still (or again) together ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Because it seems so improbable and illogical! You think I don't KNOW I sound fucking crazy?! Absolutely infuriating, and yet there are just all these little Things all the time. yes, 'we met at the end of eden' is kinda my baby. it's about stanford era dean, all lost and alone after sam left for college. one night, after a hunt, he listens to some random radio station and hears some dude (cas) talking about rock music (the guy has no clue about that kinda stuff), dean sticks around and this stranger does these monthly call in sessions where people can tell him about his problems and that's when dean calls in to shit on the guy's music taste (they get along and dean starts calling in more often). it's them not knowing each other but building a bond (they will meet at some point, but it's gonna be a lot of feelings and pining and pain and falling until then). oh, and cas fell from heaven. so that's also a big plot point.

another one of my wips is this little joxcassie fic about a job jo is supposed to do instead of dean and that's when she runs into cassie and decide to work together (cassie works as a journalist). jo slowly realizes that she's gay and there is a lot of flirting. it's more about them growing as people and finding hope in each other than anything else.

I also have a yuri oneshot kinda thing in my wips. it's also set in the stanford era. dean earns her money with pool games and riding mechanical bulls. she meets cas in an dark alley. she is angry and alone and wants to kill this woman, who seems a little odd and otherworldly (in so many ways).

oh, and i have this one western au. where mary left john and raised her boys on a ranch. dean grows up around horses. mary gets to fall in love and be her butch self <3 dean falls for a boy from the city (cas). it's queer and all about the cowboy life. (this one is still not very well thought out tho...)

the nacchan movie

it was o k. it had a pretty standard and rather unremarkable storyline tbh. but that nacchan confession montage was pretty funny. though i wish we could’ve seen more of mochiaka. easy 6/10.

the shower/bath montage was very much unnecessary though.

the hina movie

as a standalone movie by itself, 4/10. confusing characters (arisa), messy and rushed plot (the middle school flashback sequence was way too long for a 1h movie), and the main couple of the movie (koyuhina) barely interacted. heck, hina spent the majority of the movie running away from yukki. rip tbh :(

as part of the series as a whole, 2/10.

reading the heart no shuchou novel should be a pre-requisite to watching the movie, as it explains why arisa was so darned weird during her interactions with yukki. and speaking of arisa, they got their portrayal of karen completely wrong (rip). granted, otome domoyo. came out after the movie, but still—

though, while we’re on the topic of ✨continuity✨, the fact that there were lxl promos in the burger joint despite lxl having not even debuted yet at that point in the timeline is just. very questionable in hindsight.

also!!! koyuhina interactions where??? gardening club trio w h e r e ??? for a movie with koyuhina focus, this movie was remarkably not about koyuhina.

seriously, just read the ima suki ni naru. prologue manga instead. it’s p much the same story, but it flows much better (like, the setoguchi siblings’ terekakushi shishunki scene takes place at the end of the manga post-rejection instead of how it has occurred right smack in the middle of the movie with no explanation). and there’s no continuity-breaking burger joint scene either s o there—

the midosena short

it was kinda cute, but it also isn’t anything you haven’t already seen in the midosena mvs. 7/10.

the harucouple anime

it’s remarkable how unremarkable it was. the best part of the anime was tokyo winter session tbh, and that was the ending theme.

miou’s character kinda sucked in the anime ngl, with her blaming herself for chiaki’s death, distancing herself from haruki, only to slap him for wanting to give up on his dream following his existential crisis that had resulted from said distancing.

also, needs more mochiaka.

anime-haruki deserves better. 3/10.

the lxl mvm

fruity, while both remaining (kinda) canon-compliant and establishing aizo as the male protagonist of gen 3. plus, sena was really cute in the romeo mv scenes, so she gets points of her own too.

bond girl yujiro (as seen in the pic above) was pretty funny though ngl. 8/10.

the lxl movie

fruity, but canon-breaking, as it completely disregards both the romeo mvm and the romeo novel. plus, the timeline clearly wouldn’t have worked out??? i mean c’mon. you’re telling me that these two complete nobodies managed to get popular enough to fill a live arena over the span of less than half a year just from a pocky collab? if you told me it took them over a year to get that far, sure, but.. they haven’t even filmed their romeo mv yet in the movie… so?? i???? lol???

also, this only further confirmed aizo as the protag (rip yujiro; boy wanted to stand onstage to be seen for himself and his talents, only to be completely outshadowed by his own partner who dances like a 🪳). the anime had dai moments though, so that alone brings the total score up to 6/10. thanks dai. ily <3

i think i’ve made my stance on the [redacted] anime very clear in my way too many posts. in comparison to the other anime projects though? 1/10.

at least the other anime projects kept their characters (or, at least, most of their characters *cough* harucouple anime miou *cough*) relatively close to their original counterparts, instead of completely butchering each and every single one of them. like, seriously, no one was spared. not the main leads (hiyori and lxl), not the side characters (gen 2), and even tamura, uchida, and ft4 were nerfed smh.

EVIL FACE. okay its basically a korean series of MVs and songs by VIVINOS about this reality show set in space!! human "pets" owned by aliens are pit against each other in a singing competition to the death where upon defeat the losing contestant gets executed on the spot ^^ this here's the prologue introducing the main charas Mizi, Sua, Till, Ivan, Luka, and Hyuna, all 6 being contestants raised in ANAKT GARDEN essentially a music school of a sort for humans preparing them for the ALNST competitions!

honestly its a pretty quick binge as of rn maybe no more than half an hour since each song is abt 2 or so mins long (plus some extra lore videos)! Round 1 is between Mizi and Sua, childhood girlfriends, round 2 being Till's, 3 Ivan's and round 5 being Luka's debut (round 4 skipped for reasons). Hyuna as of rn doesn't have a song but her episode's lined up for the next one 👍 each mv has english captions too so !!!!

My millennialism will be showing but this is a tie between Zoolander, The Hangover, and Josie and the Pussycats. The Hangover is a perfectly written film in my opinion. One day I will make a video essay about how Zoolander and Josie are essentially the same film but we don’t have time to get into that. Also the Josie soundtrack FUCKING SLAPS.

This is a tough one because I grew up in a Turner Classic Movies household. The classics are the classics. But I guess here are some that are classics TO ME.

Hocus Pocus (1993) a perfect film. Endlessly rewatchable. Still holds up 30 years (💀) later. He likes your yabbos.

Pride and Prejudice (2005) this is on so many girlies list of favorite films how can we not consider it a modern classic?

I was going to say anything by Mel Brooks which obviously are all classics but let me put you on to a lesser known movie that he didn’t direct but produced and starred in next to his wife Anne Bancroft called To Be or Not To Be (1983). It’s incredible. Funny, suspenseful, romantic. Highly recommend.
