Shen Yuan getting transported into pidw isn't "the system punishing him for being a lazy internet hater," but instead representative of "step 1 of the creative process: getting so mad at something you decide to go write your own fucking book" in this essay I will
#svsss#scum villian self saving system#shen qingqiu#shen yuan#the fact that people think scum villain#-a series that examines and criticizes common tropes in fiction-#is somehow against criticism or being a little hater is wild to me#especially since shen qingqiu never gets punished for being a hater#heck- he's still a little hater by the end of the series#he mostly gets punished for treating life like a play and like he and the people around him are characters#(or in other words- he suffers for denying his own wants and emotions and his own sense of empathy)#I think some of y'all underestimate how much writing/art is inspired by creaters being little haters#like example off the top of my head-#the author of Iron Widow has been pretty vocal about the book being inspired by their hatred of Darling in the Franxx#I think my interpretation of Shen Yuan's transmigration is also supported by the fact that this series is an examines writing processes#side note- though i understand why people say Shen Yuan is lazy and think its a valid take it still doesnt sit right with me#i am probably biased because my own experiences with chronic pain and depression and isolation#but ya- i dont think Shen Yuan is lazy so much as he is deeply lonely and feels purposeless after denying parts of himself for 20ish years#like yall remember the online fandom boom from covid right?#being stuck completely alone in bed while feeling like shit for 20 days straight does shit to your brain#the fact that no one came to check on him + he wasn't exactly upset about leaving anyone behind supports the isolation interpretation too#+in the skinner demon arc he describes his life of being a faker/inability to stop being a faker now that he's Shen Qingqiu#as “so bland he's tempted to throw salt on himself” and “all he could do is lay around and wait for death” (<-paraphrasing)#bro wants to be doing stuff but is stuck in paralysis from repeatedly following scrips made by other people#another point on “Shen Yuan isn’t lazy” is just the sheer amount of studying that man does#also he did graduate college- how lazy can he really be#he doesnt know what hes doing but he at least tries to actively train his students#and he actually works on improving his own cultivation + spends quite a bit of time preping the mushroom body thing#+he's experiencing bouts of debilitating chronic pain throughout all this#but ya tldr: Shen Yuan's transmigration is an encouragement to write and not a punishment and also i dont think its fair to call him lazy

It's sad how people ignore/downplay Luffy blushing only at the sight of faraway Zoro to keep maintaining "Luffy is aroace"... when the evidence for Luffy being "100% aro" is not really there,
it's just Luffy (& Zoro) reasonably rejecting anyone suddenly romantically proposing to him in canon & Luffy (& Zoro) wanting to keep adventuring + having his style of fun + find One Piece. & Zoro + Luffy having many more meaningful, weighty experiences together & stronger attachment than average would make them liking each other more than just friends have a higher probability of happening than most ships with either of them.
& people keep "forgetting" both aro and ace are spectrums like why? I suspect just to keep Luffy away from Zoro?? (who's more popular to be shipped with other characters than Luffy due to being more classically appealing in a mature/less cartoony way, when Luffy is so much less childish & silly than he seems, he does have that deep-seated emotional maturity, like not caring for power + knowing how to motivate Laboon & downtrodden people to keep living/let the Strawhats help, & confidence + cheeky intelligence/sharpness to him that Zoro really resonates with)
I’m constantly metaphorically knocking on ppls doors at night w a big printout of luffy blushing bc HELLO? we seeing this???? from what I’ve gathered, it was only the second time he’s blushed (the first being when robin said she has strong friends). and it’s just. it’s a big deal. i will be reading into it. back to immediately take back my adam praise from the last sdpn episode because he's laying into marner and rielly for not coming out to get skewered when the leafs play bad and saying they shouldn't even have letters for ducking the press and when jesse gives context on why the leadership core doesn't come out for every press conference since he has actually been going to games and practices as a reporter now that spdn is credentialed (because they don't have ten people come out for every media scrum, and they all take turns, and the players that the reporters did talk to after their last loss against the blues were actually more pertinent for the pieces people were going to write) he just doesn't seem to care since he thinks that media availability is the epitome of taking accountability for bad play or losses and that says everything to me about how bad it must be to be a leaf or a leafs fan. how do you know what the problem is and still participate in the problem
lmao well. goodwill lasted about a day. ill catch up on this episode in a sec but oh my god he is weird about the marner & reilly thing. it happened once during. i wanna say the playoffs? and he has never been able to let that go.

#Maeglin was abused and suffered severe trauma and never got the healing he needed for it#I don’t think he ever stopped looking over his shoulder even after Eöl dies#he tried to make Gondolin his home but he probably suffered from severe anxiety and depression and never felt like he belonged#probably always blamed himself for his mother and father’s deaths#of course maeglin gave in to Melkor’s torture and of course he would make deals that in his mind protect his loved ones#he was told he’d be given lordship of Gondolin and Idril’s hand in marriage#fucked up. yes#but in his mind after being tortured both physically and mentally by literal Satan#he told himself the if he’s given lordship of the city then that means there will be a city with inhabitants left to rule#and Idril will be kept alive#not making excuses but I can see the reasoning#and again when you consider that he’s quite young for an elf & was probably never that mentally stable in the first place#I just. poor thing#and when you remember the books are supposed to be translations & technically up for interpretation?#boom. bias has become introduced#you cannot stop me#anyways we both had a parent that abused us and made us wish we were never born#and that’s why I’ll defend maeglin to the grave :) thank you very much :)
