warnings: i wrote this late at night and in a one n done draft. apologies if i have some misspellings/other. based on episode 5 of the bear

the lights are out, and there’s nobody in sight when looking through the window. a frown paints your face; you could have sworn carm was working today, he would have said something if he managed to get a day off. you walked against the wind, around the corner of the restaurant to see if anything was happening in the back.

there was.

multiple tables were set up in a three-sided square, each one having different set ups; one for assembling, one for prepping, and one for selling. that’s where the line was, and a girl was behind it, collecting money from each person that came to the front. i’m..99% positive that’s sydney. based on how he describes her. everyone else who worked at the beef was there, too, focused on a different task. a massive makeshift grill was made behind the tables, and multiple foil containers where on different shelves. all of it kept the food warm, of course.

in the midst of your skimming the area, you got in line and realized carmy still wasn’t there. you didn’t think he died or anything, but it still worried you that he wasn’t inside or outside of the beef. it hit you too late that you had made the front of the line, and sydney’s voice broke you out of your trance.

“‘scuse me..?”

“oh! sorry,” you said, startled. red as a tomato. hesitant to ask your initial question, you ordered a random sandwich, the only sandwich, you remembered on the menu. “i was wondering, do you know where carmen is?”

the magic words prompted the soft rev of a car engine behind you. you looked back and saw it park next to the grill, and carmy got out of the driver’s seat. hair disheveled with a pissed off look; you haven’t seen him in this light too often. honestly, it was pretty hot. he was in his own world, walking between the grill and tables when he said hello to sydney and walked through the back entrance to the kitchen.

richie saw you, though; he and his shit eating grin sauntered on over to where you were, and before a word left your mouth, he spoke to you.

“here to see your little boyfriend, huh?” he changed direction and speed-walked to the back door, calling out, “carmy, there’s someone special here for you outside! don’t be fuckin’ rude!”

“what the..” your focus came back to sydney, and she already had your sandwich wrapped and ready. she didn’t wipe off her previous expression fast enough; you caught it at the last second.

“shit, sorry. uhm.. uh, how much do i owe you again?” you struggled in looking for your wallet as she told you the price, and her eyes were very openly searching your entire being when she thought you didn’t notice.

bickering made its way outside, getting louder once carmy and richie both came back outside. carmy still looked pretty pissed off, eyes wide and angry in the moment.

his demeanor changed when he looked past richie and the rest; locking eyes with him always felt like the first time. a slight tightness tugged at your chest once he smiled, and he jogged to you as you got out of line.

“hi! i hope it’s ok that i came, i finally got some free time and wanted to—“

a kiss was planted right on your lips when he got close enough, right in front of everyone; it was quick but felt with your entire mouth. a hand wrapped around your waist.

“you came on such a fucking eventful day,” he laughed as he pulled away, and you laughed with him.

pulling you in a hug, your sandwich smushed between yours and his stomach. “thank you for coming,” he whispered in your ear, chin resting on your shoulder.

“of course,” you replied. you were the one to pull away this time, feeling his strong arms move around you again. he smelled like food, and although it sounds off-putting, you actually really liked it. weirdly enough, you enjoyed guessing what he made when he used to come home from his previous job, as much as he hated it.

with a loving gaze into his eyes, it hit you; they were watching you. not just sydney, but the entire kitchen, they were watching, listening while they kept taking orders. how the hell can they do that? a bashful feeling consumed you in a second, and with your head down you mumbled, “i wanted maybe one more kiss, i just didn’t feel the one this morning.”

“it was 3am and you were dead asleep, i didn’t want to fully wake you up on your day off,” carmy said. he put his hands on either side of your face, wordlessly asking you to look at him. “i guess it worked out nicely for us, anyway.” he gave you another kiss, the moment ending as richie started yelling once more to someone else. carmy broke the kiss and sighed. “i have to get back to work, but i’ll see you tonight, ok?”

you nodded. “see you at the house.” your hands slid across his arms to his hands, lightly removing them from your face. you brought them down and gave a gentle squeeze to one before letting go. “love you.”

carmy walked away, smiling one last time before turning his body back around. one look at his employees and you knew you were toast; you quickly spun on your heel back in the way you came and left. you suppressed an embarrassed laugh as you heard richie mimic carmy, “‘i have to work, but i’ll see you later, right?’ who the fuck are you, you fuckin’ sap? there should be no PDA allowed, cousin, this is a place where people eat…”

once you were finally home, sandwich a little cold from the chill in the air, you unwrapped an end and took a bite.

There are some posts I've seen floating around that at the start Dazai may not of known that Chuuya wasn't a vampire which I kind of agree with. I'm at work currently so I cant double check but when he goes "that's a nasty trick you've pulled fydor" im pretty sure its in his thoughts?? To which why would he think that if he knew the whole time. I think dazai must of caught onto the fact Chuuya was faking it at somepoint but not sure when that would of been. Also at the end of the ep Dazai said he didn't have a plan. (I did watch the episode at just after 2am my time when it came out and then fell asleep afterwards so my memory could be not correct). I do think chuuya not being a vampire at all is a little disappointing tbh but this idea softens the blow. Would like to know your thoughts on this idea if you are open to sharing?

I'm in that category too, yes. I've left a few tags saying basically the same thing on some posts.

First, there are a few things the anime didn't answer (more than failing to justify Chuuya faking it since the start, there's Sigma's case about needing to help the ADA, which... didn't happen at all) so either we haven't seen the repercussions of this arc yet, or we got the shortened version of what the manga will offer. Which could work either way. (not ideal necessarily, but besides huffing what can we do huh)

Dazai not knowing though! Dazai did admit to his "plan" being to mostly adapt on the fly and trust his allies to help him back. He implied this prison break was one big trust fall. But that's how I've always interpreted Dazai's way of planning! I even made a post about it a full year ago!

Since Dazai knows Chuuya slowed down the elevator (which I can accept, Dazai's ability shouldn't affect random objects he touches, and Fyodor had told Chuuya through a comm to go finish off Dazai because he wasn't in the room), I assume that by then he was aware. Maybe not before though. Definitely not at first. Because this?

I refuse to believe was entirely scripted. Why is he acting? For Sigma? For corpses? I'm of the opinion that no matter what is going on through Dazai's head, his expressions are always genuine (ex: he might react with surprise at something he completely expected, if only because of how sudden it was, or when/how it ended up happening. Here? genuine distress.)

And I extend that feeling to Dazai having an emotional moment, complete with flashbacks, while "drowning" Fyodor and Chuuya. He did say he wasn't expecting to kill them that way, but perhaps it really was a moment of weakness triggered by concern or guilt.

I can accept Dazai having caught on during his face-off with Chuuya. That's Mr I-know-your-breathing-patterns we have here, so if they didn't high-five after the elevator crash-landing (still broke Dazai's leg), I would say Dazai knows physics enough to go "hold on" and connect the dots. So yes, that baiting of Chuuya, the light taunting, the bratty attitude he only really has with Chuuya, the angry YELLING and insults when Chuuya shot him in the shoulder? The destiny talk? Yeah I can re-contextualize those as Dazai over-acting his part. And then not being able to shut up after being shot in the head.

Maybe there's some reaching here, maybe this will not be totally accurate to the source material. But Asagiri does have a habit to write scenes from an outsider pov while knowing whats happening in the characters' heads and behind the scene, but then not give us that input directly. Never before today was it confirmed that Dazai improvises a lot in his plans. And yet! That's something I've believed in for a very long time.

This all could very well be covering Asagiri's poor decisions, but between this being the adaptation and bsd being an unfinished story, I have a hard time deciding at the moment how much of a poor decision this was. Maybe it's worth a raised eyebrow. Maybe it deserves some criticism in hope the author takes notes. Maybe this was an anime-original resolution due to time constraints (think of the Fifteen final fight). I can only raise concerns for now, and wait.

alright y'all I'm bulletpointing as I watch so let's go!!

the whole "mrs. and mr. davenport" beginning scene is literally seared into my brain from childhood-i think it's funny how clearly i remember it

when we meet the team they're in these mission suit esque things and seeing as all they do is train, is that what they live in????

davenport saying "i don't want to brag, but i am incredibly smart" when introducing the kids is so wild when you consider the fact that he probably didn't have anything to do with making the kids

i love how offended they get when tasha calls them robots

tasha and leo have such a cute relationship i freaking love it

i know we hate donald, and rightfully so, but this episode really amps me up bc dude you are literally introducing them to your wife and you keep talking about them like plants you're growing

i really hope someone gets this, but there are a few scenes where Adam feels more like a regular person than just someone who's core personality is being kind of dumb and reckless, and the ending scene before everyone goes to bed is one of those few scenes

I am currently rewatching and rereading Parasyte. I'm really glad that I watched the anime before I picked up the manga when I first came across the story. Otherwise, I would have enjoyed the anime a lot less. The anime, in the first episode alone, made three changes I really dislike.

The first is one that happens a lot in TV which I hate, which is where the first episode shows scenes in non-chronological order. It is just unnecessarily confusing. The original showed them in sequence and I see no reason to deviate from it. Its not like the original took too long to get to the gory stuff that grips attention.

The second is that they added an accidental boob grab. I must have excised it from my memory, because it caught me completely off guard. It adds nothing to the plot or the dynamic between the characters and just makes the show more awkward to recommend to non-weebs since it is in an early scene of the first fucking episode. I think my initial opinion of the show would have been lower if I had been introduced to it via the first episode rather than midway through.

The third is adding a 'zero to hero' plot. Shinichi in the original manga was just an ordinary dude. He wasn't scared of bugs, and he wasn't awkward around Murano. They even gave him glasses in the anime to up his Peter Parkeriness. They must have thought 'oh no, our protagonist is not a loser, he won't be relatable to our audience!'. Fuck off, that is insulting. Okay, look, I get it. They probably added it because that way there is more of a contrast between the before and after in his character arc. Put I think they missed the point. Parasyte is not a story about a loser boy becoming an awesome action hero. It is a story about an ordinary high schooler thrust into a dangerous situation, losing both his ordinary life as well as his humanity, only to regain both by the end of the story, but having grown through the trials he overcame in between. In the manga, the initial scenes with him focus on how Migi disrupts his ordinary life. Migi morphs into various things which Shinichi has to hide, including a giant Phallus while he is in a restaurant! Its pretty funny actually, and sadly missing from the anime. The manga already has the main character go through enough change (its probably the best part of the story). It didn't need more.

I don't really mind them changing the setting to contemporary modern day rather than the nineties when the original manga was written, though I do think that it is a bit unnecessary.

I do actually like the anime. The animation, music (dubstep is cool) and voice acting are all great. Well, except for that one shot of really bad CG they used for random students walking to the school.

Also, Migi is just the cutest little psychopath. I luv it. Speaking of, diversity win! The cold-blooded alien parasite, by virtue of having no apparent capacity to reproduce or interest in human values, is nonbinary! Migi and its relationship to its host Shinichi is definitely the best part of the series for me. Its a fascinating situation, where a very rational but completely amoral alien and a conscientious human have to share a body and cooperate despite their differences. What I find very endearing about Migi is that it is actually very reasonable and always wishes to work together with its host when possible. All of the evil aliens in the story are actually very cooperative in nature, which I really like. Smart villains are great.

One final remark: Its funny how my view on the body horror in the story has changed. When I first saw some scene or ad for the anime, I was convinced I would never watch a show that disgusting. When a friend of mine was watching it though, I actually really got into it, and basically watched it in spite of the gross body horror. At some point, I watched it because (but not only because) of the body horror. Tastes change, huh.

I have such mixed feelings about the Clone Wars "Heroes on Both Sides" episode because I appreciate what it's TRYING to do with the idea of showing that the Separatist side has legitimate grievances and the Senators in it are/were good people who've just been duped into being on the side of a war that's literally enslaving people, but I also think it handles it incredibly badly.

Take Mina Bonteri, for example. We're SUPPOSED to like her and think she's this honorable woman who mentored Padme and is still Padme's friend, but she also thinks Dooku's somehow a good honorable person and will literally not hear a single word against him even though this person she's mentored could tell her that Dooku is the one who nearly executed her on Geonosis. Padme can literally speak to how those events in the Geonosis arena ACTUALLY WENT, but she can't because Mina refuses to hear anything bad about Dooku because she's apparently got a political boner for him or something I dunno.

And then her whole story of woe that's meant to show us how the Republic also sometimes commits atrocities boils down to "my husband worked at a lab and clones attacked and now he's dead" and I feel like my reaction is supposed to be "wow that's horrific that the clones attacked an innocent person" but knowing what I know about the Separatists and how they worked my reaction is actually "well what the fuck were they doing at that lab huh Mina? Did you even know your husband or was he a bitch who was coming up with some sort-of bio weapon to use against Republic civilians?" Because I don't believe for a SECOND that the clones would've just attacked a random lab for no obvious reason. That lab was up to some shit and they never tell us what it is because they want us to feel bad for Mina's loss, but I... don't. Because I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for Mr. Bonteri to have been caught up in shady shit that Mina had no idea about.

And of course then there's her son and the whole interaction he has with Ahsoka. Again, I understand the point of them saying that Ahsoka has only ever met "military commanders" on the Separatist side and not any of the actual Separatist civilians/senators, but the comparison being made is with Lux's experience with the JEDI, who are ALSO military commanders in this war. Ahsoka is judging the Separatists by the people they've PUT IN CHARGE of their side of the war and who are the ones actively causing atrocities. Ahsoka is judging the people who are her PEERS on the Separatist side. And while there is obviously merit to getting to know Separatists civilians, I don't think it counts the same as Lux saying he's never met a Jedi before and is now choosing to judge an entire culture when he's never met a single person from that culture until now.

The Onderon arc and the Gerreras do a WAY better job of getting this concept across, that there are literal REBELS on some of the Separatist planets who didn't choose to be Separatist and don't necessarily care for the Separatist government. Ahsoka (via Anakin) seeing every Separatist as an evil person simply due to being Separatist would have been incredibly paired with having to help out some Separatist rebels fight for their world because they KNOW what's going on, they're LIVING it, they just can't really do much about it due to lack of resources.

I love the idea of making sure the Separatist side is given a little nuance, that there IS an explanation as to why the Separatists seceded and became what they did and all, I just think it got handled SO SO BADLY and it makes me so sad/mad every time I think about that episode.

Other Parts: Part One

As you carried on dating, you noticed how Kai became more comfortable and relaxed around you. At first, it was very obvious he was nervous and controlling his responses but he soon stopped doing that and became bolder. He seemed to borrow your confidence and would flirt back more and more which you loved. Kai was just so different from what you expected. You'd only seen him be kind and sweet with Bahiyyih but he could be hilarious and sneaky with you. He was also insanely talented. When the guys told you about his perfect pitch and musical talent you figured they were lying or exaggerating but no. He was a musical genius and so you asked him to teach you something because despite being an idol music still wasn't your strong suit. Kai agreed to teach you and arranged for you to come over the very next day to learn. He suggested the piano for you because he thought you'd be good at it and he was such an attentive teacher...but that didn't help.

You'd learnt the chords and were now moving on to playing basic songs when Kai thought of a tip to make things easier for you. He demonstrated a better way to hold your fingers over the keys so you could access notes quicker but you were just watching him. He had such a cute smile and the way his brows furrowed when he was concentrating was so cute. Kai caught you staring and smiled "did you get that?" he asked. You blinked and then registered what he'd said "huh? Sorry no I missed it". Kai laughed "why? How? You were sitting right here". You smiled "I know but so were you and you look really good right now". "I do? Doing this?" Kai asked confused and you nodded. "You know I think a break will really help my piano skills" you said pointedly and Kai smiled. "Whatever helps you learn I'll happily do...you mean make out right?". You smiled "I do" and Kai nodded "that's good, I can show you some other stuff afterwards" and he pushed the piano away with more vigour than you thought possible. Kissing you was more important than his instruments and you felt that was a huge compliment.

You enjoyed kissing Kai for obvious reasons but also because he was sometimes hard to read. You knew he was into you, that much you had confirmed but you weren't sure how much or where he was in the relationship. Kai would typically wait for the to initiate things and you had no idea if he wanted you as much as you wanted him...but when you kissed him you felt it. The way he'd pull you closer and linger as you both pulled back. How his eyes lost their youthful charm and were replaced with something else. It showed you Kai did want you and you had no idea a fellow member had been stoking that flame for you.

You were now round at the TxT house regularly and Kai loved how well you fit in with his members...but didn't like how well Beomgyu had taken to you.

He knew Beomgyu meant nothing by his teasing and would never actually cross any lines there but Kai still didn't like seeing him flirt with you. It was part insecurity because Beomgyu was so funny and charismatic. Kai had seen him walk up to random girls he'd never met before and win them over with his wit alone. Kai didn't think he'd ever be able to do that and so seeing Beomgyu use his material on you rubbed him up the wrong way. He knew it wouldn't work but he still didn't want any tempting fate. He wanted you to himself and was getting more and more territorial.

One night, you came over to binge the new season of Stranger Things and somehow Beomgyu ended up beside you instead of Kai. The two of you had discussed Stranger Things before and probably did like it more than the others so Kai shrugged it off as the first episode started. When the whispering started though he started getting agitated. Beomgyu kept leaning over to you and whispering things which made Kai feel awkward. He didn't like how much of your attention Beomgyu was getting and was pretty sure it was an act because Beomgyu had no problem talking loudly in a movie or tv show normally. Then when Beomgyu started asking to borrow your blanket Kai nearly lost it.

Thankfully the episode ended just as Kai reached his limit. So when Beomgyu left for the bathroom Kai took his seat next to you. You smiled when Kai sat down and immediately moved towards him. "Hey you" you smiled pecking his lips and leaning against his side. Kai put an arm around you and added another kiss to your forehead. All was good...for those 2 minutes.

Beomgyu returned and protested Kai taking his seat but Kai didn't give him the time of day. Kai was rather short with him and felt a little bad about it but mostly didn't care. He was pleased when Beomgyu took a seat behind the two of you but that faded when Beomgyu kept talking to you. You even turned at one point to show him something on your phone and Kai was not pleased.

Kai went quiet for the rest of the night and after a few more episodes you noticed something was bothering him. So you invented a reason you needed to speak to him in his room privately and shut the door as he followed you in. "So what's up?" you asked "you went quiet on me, is something wrong?". Kai bit his lip "nothing's wrong" but he'd always been a terrible liar. "Come on Kai, what's up?" you asked him "talk to me". Kai also couldn't deny you anything so he sighed and sat down next to you. "I don't like how Beomgyu is around you". You paused "you mean all the flirting? But Kai you know that isn't real". "I know and that's what makes this so annoying! I know you don't like him that way and he'd never do anything but it still gets under my skin and that day you flirted back with him to test if you could make him blush..." Kai said his breath catching "I knew you were only doing it to mess with him but still...it made me jealous because I wanted it to be me. I didn't want you looking at any other guy like that and now I feel like an overprotective irrational weirdo". You smiled shaking your head "Kai you're not a weirdo and I actually quite like that you got jealous". "You do?" Kai asked and you nodded "I didn't do it to make you jealous but hearing you wanted it to be you...I like how that makes me feel". Kai smiled "I like how you make me feel too". You tilted your head to the side "oh trust me I'm going to make sure of that" and kissed him but this was different to the other kisses. This was heated from the off and Kai didn't have to ask what you meant. He got it. So he let all his feelings go and channelled how you were making him feel. He focused on you and didn't stop.

Kai was adorable bashful afterwards and so gentle with you. He helped tidy things up and then bundled you into his arms. It was then that something occurred to you "Hey where are your plushies?' you asked and Kai froze "what?". "Your plushies? I thought you had like 50 but they're not here". "I moved them so there would be room for you" Kai said and you gasped "you sly fox! You knew tonight was the night you'd get me in bed!". Kai blushed worried but realised you were joking and shook his head. "No, I moved them a few weeks ago. Beomgyu mentioned I should move them in case you wanted to sleep here and I thought that sounded like a good reason. I didn't want anything to stop me from spending more time with you". You blushed "that's really sweet but I know how much they mean to you, you don't have to banish all of them. Plus I like the penguin one, it reminds me of you". "Which penguin?" Kai asked "I have several" and you laughed "the blue one". You said it so sleepily Kai could've died right then and there from cuteness but he didn't. Instead, he nipped out of bed, much to your protests, and went to the wardrobe where he fished his penguin out. "Here" he said "she's yours". "I can't keep her" you said but he shook his head "I want you to have her, that way you can think of me when we;re not together". That was so adorable it made you want to melt and you kissed Kai instead. "I like that idea" you whispered as Kai smiled and wrapped you back up in his arms.

Baihiyyih also started to notice the effect you had on Kai and she didn't always like it.

You were on a variety show and your personality was shining like usual. Bahiyyih could tell one of the hosts was into you because he kept directing questions to you and smiled at you lots. So afterwards, it didn't surprise her when he asked for your number...but what did surprise her was your response.

"I'm really flattered but I'm already seeing someone" you explained. "Can't say I'm surprised" the host said "a funny beautiful talented girl was totally going to have a boyfriend but I thought I'd shoot my shot. Let me know if anything changes" and with a wink, he left. As you travelled back Bahiyyih pretended she hadn't been listening but her mind was going crazy! Were you and Kai boyfriend/girlfriend now? Were you official? He hadn't mentioned anything and neither had you but surely Kai was the guy you meant? Unless you just didn't want that guy's number and so said that to put him down easily? She was very confused and it must've shown.

Once you got back home she was the last one out of the car and you noticed and hung back. "Hey are you okay? You've been quiet". She looked at you and hesitated before asking "are you and Kai exclusive now?". "Oh you heard that back there?" you asked and she nodded "it's fine if it was just to get him to leave you alone I just wanted to know". You paused "well Kai's not asked me but we've been seeing each other a while now so I wouldn't think it's okay to go on dates with other guys but I don't know if Kai's seeing other girls". "He's not" Bahiyyih said and she knew without even checking because it was Kai. He wasn't a player and with how much he liked you there's no way he'd go near other girls. "Kai's not like that so I guess you're unofficially official?". You smiled "yeah I guess so" and Bahiyyih was surprised that actually made her smile too.

Teasing Bahiyyih was now the furthest thing from your mind and you had actually been doing the opposite. You had been trying to stop Bahiyyih from seeing you and Kai together but it seemed like the harder you tried the more she saw.

Classic example, that evening Kai was meeting you at your house to take you out for dinner. You hadn't seen him in a week because of scheduling so when you saw him at the bottom of the stairs you were super excited. You skipped down them and threw yourself into his arms with a happy "Kai!". He happily engulfed you and held you tightly. "I missed you" you said and Kai blushed "you did?". You nodded "of course I did" and looked up at Kai with such a cute but sincere expression he caved and kissed you. You only realised Bahiyyih was in the corner dying about 20 seconds into your make-out session. "Bahiyyih we're so sorry!" you cried and she nodded wincing "thank you for stopping" and rushed away. "Oops" Kai said giggling and you smiled "I'm honestly surprised that hasn't happened more" and it was as if your words cursed everything.

Anytime you or Kai kissed, Bahiyyih was present. When you were texting Kai flirty messages, she just so happened to look over your shoulder. When Kai dropped you back off home and was giving you a goodnight kiss, Bahiyyih had just gotten back and saw it. It was as if she was cursed and it was really starting to bug her.

One night, you'd all gone to a local restaurant for food. It wasn't super close but you could walk it in about 30 minutes so you all did so without complaint. However, on the way back, it was uphill and it was raining so you didn't want to walk. The only problem was it was a Friday night and no taxi driver had a car big enough for all of you. More and more time passed with no drivers taking your trip and it was getting late.

"How are we going to get home?" Yeseo asked and you smiled "leave it to me" and brought up Kai's contact. You were sure he could borrow a company car and come get you. "I've already tried Kai, he's not answering" Bahiyyih said and you looked at her "okay not to be rude but I think he'll be more likely to pick up for me". Bahiyyih's jaw dropped and she was in the middle of protesting when Kai picked up the phone. "He has rehearsal" Bahiyyih said angrily "he won't come" but 2 minutes later you hung up the phone and told them Kai was on his way.

When Kai pulled up Bahiyyih was still pouting. You of course hopped into the front with Kai and Dayeon got in beside you. Bahiyyih sat in the back with her arms crossed and Yujin nudged her "you're not still mad are you?". "Of course I am! In an emergency situation my brother would protect Y/n instead of me". Yujin frowned "I don't think that's what happened tonight, yes he answered her call not yours but that doesn't mean he doesn't love you or wouldn't protect you". Bahiyyih shrugged in response so Yujin continued "plus I think this is a good thing, seeing how much they care about each other". Bahiyyih made a noise of disgust "trust me I've seen enough of it" and Yujin smiled "true no sibling wants to see their sibling being physical with their partner but isn't it nice to see how sweet Kai and Y/n interact?" she asked "you were worried about this but look at it! It's so real".

She gestured to the front where you were leaning on Kai's arm as he drove. Kai had a hand on your leg and had long since given you his coat which you were sharing with Dayeon. She saw your faces in the rearview mirror and you looked so casual. Neither of you was trying to be cute or affectionate, this was just normal for you and she had to admit that was sweet.

You decided to stay with Kai instead of going to the dorm and Bahiyyih really wanted to thank you for making her brother so happy. She tried ringing you but you didn't pick up so she texted you instead.

"Hey Y/n it's me, don't worry nothing's wrong I just want to thank you for not breaking your promise with Kai. I'll admit I was worried at first when you started spending time with him to bug me but I can see how it's evolved into something real and you make him smile more than anyone ever has. Thank you for caring for him and sorry for judging you too soon". You replied back a little later "Aww thanks Bahiyyih, yeah it definitely started off as more of a bit of fun to tease you but even I was caught surprised by my feelings and I guess it's just fate huh? A great accident".

You put your phone down as Kai called you back into the kitchen where he was making food. You'd ordered food but Kai insisted making it would be quicker and you were having a race. You'd started just observing Kai, determined to keep the race fair but he looked so cute when he asked for help that you relented. You were washing up in the sink when your phone went and you smiled "ha I win! That'll be my delivery person, can you answer it?". Kai did as you asked and told the guy which apartment you were in. Kai was heading to the door when he spotted his name. When the call ended, it went to the last thing on your phone screen. Your whole conversation with Bahiyyih was there and Kai couldn't help but read it.

Kai's heart broke.

You heard the front door open and close but that had been 2 minutes ago and Kai wasn't back. "Kai?" you called shutting the tap off "you know, you can't spend ages in the hallway with my food, hoping that your food will done before you get here" you said laughing. You stuck your head around the door and saw Kai sat on a sofa in the living room. "Kai?" you asked and then you saw your phone on the table in front of him. Your conversation with Bahiyyih right there for anyone to see. You jumped up as your stomach sank "Kai don't read that!" you said but only when you snatched the phone away from him did Kai seem to hear you. "Don't pay any attention to that, it's not important anymore, Bahiyyin and I were just teasing" you said "no big deal" but the second Kai looked at you, you knew it was.

"No big deal? No big deal?" he asked in disbelief. "It was a joke?" Kai asked his voice rising in volume "you slept with me and did all of this just to piss off my sister?" he cried. "No not at all!" you said and Kai shot you a look. "Well I mean it started in that way yes. I saw how much flirting with you bothered her so I kept doing it but it changed so much from them. When I actually spent time with you I started to like you and it stopped being about teasing her!" you said but you could tell Kai's trust had been broken. "I can't believe I was so stupid, to think you actually wanted me and cared about me". "But I do want and care about you" you said and Kai shook his head "you called us an accident Y/n! We wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for you teasing Bahiyyih, you never would've approached me if it wasn't to hurt her right?" he asked. You hesitated but knew there was no way you could spin this. "I can't say for certain but yes" you admitted and Kai shook his head.

Soobin and Yeonjun suddenly appeared, hearing the argument from their rooms. "Hey is everything okay?" Yeonjun asked "we heard yelling". You looked to Kai but he wouldn't even look at you. You went to answer when Kai spoke over you "yeah Y/n was just leaving". You blinked at Kai, shocked at his cold tone. "Kai can't we talk about this?" you asked and he shook his head still not looking at you. "I've heard everything that needed to be said". You looked at him in disbelief but felt Yeonjun and Soobin staring at you and knew if their maknae wanted you to leave, they'd enforce that. "I...I'm sorry Kai, I never wanted to hurt you and I do care about you" you said trying to get him to look at you but the most he did was glance. He didn't comment so you hurried from the room for once in your life feeling anxious.

You got home and had no idea how to make this right. You were so focused on Kai that you didn't even think about Bahiyyih until it hit you an hour later. What would you tell her? That you'd done the one thing she'd asked you not to do? No, you couldn't. You couldn't lose both Huening siblings so you called Kai.

Beomgyu picked up. "Hey how is he?" you asked. "He's okay" Beomgyu said awkwardly "but he needs some space". "Okay that's fine, as long as I get a chance to talk to him afterwards. It's not as bad as he thinks it is and I promise I really do care for him Beomgyu". Beomgyu sighed "but he doesn't believe that Y/n". "Which is why I need to speak to him! To explain it to him" you said but still Beomgyu wasn't sure. You could hear him whispering to someone else and got excited "is he there? Can I speak to him please?". "No it's Yeonjun...sorry Y/n. I'll tell Kai what you called but I think you're going to have to wait for him to come to you" and be hung up. Your chance to fix it had vanished.

The girls could tell something was wrong and feeling like you should just bite the bullet, you found Bahiyyih and asked if you could speak to her. She nodded looking a mix of confused and curious and led you to her room. You didn't know what to say so just put it as simply as you could.

"Kai ended things with me" you told Bahiyyih and her eyes widened in shock. "What?" she asked "why?". She was certain her brother was head over heels for you so this didn't make sense. You sighed "he found out how this all started, with me teasing you and he felt betrayed". Bahiyyih frowned "but how" before she realised "he saw our texts?". You nodded "I asked him to unlock my phone to get me something and I'd left it open. I'm sorry Bahiyyih, I messed with your family and I think I did exactly what you asked me not to". Bahiyyih shook her head "you don't need to apologise I feel like I should, they were my texts he saw so I'm partly responsible". "You're not" you said "I was the one who started all of this and got into it for the wrong reason". Bahiyyih nodded "yeah but I've seen how you've changed and how much you care for Kai. It was never really fake but now it's truly real". You sighed "but now I've broken his trust and I can't fix it. Something tells me your brother isn't too frivolous with his trust". Bahiyyih frowned "well no but he's also not one to fall for someone quickly but he did with you, he really liked you Y/n so if anyone can win him back it's you".

Bahiyyih meant to comfort you but her words just made you cry because if Kai really didn't love easily that made everything you'd done worse. Bahiyyih rushed to hug you as you cried "I think this is it Bahiyyih, he wouldn't even look at me when I left and he won't talk to me. There's nothing else I can do, it's over" and Bahiyyih hugged you harder. She told you many times that night this wasn't over and Kai would listen to reason but when she next saw her brother she wasn't too sure.

Bahiyyih initially didn't want to get too involved but then realised she was directly in the middle of this so decided fuck it! When a week had passed and Kai was still refusing to speak to you she decided to go see her brother herself. She told him she had something from their parents to drop off which wasn't a lie but she didn't mention she'd purposefully asked their mom for something. She arrived at Kai's dorm and was immediately surprised with how pale her brother looked. He offered her a small smile but she could see the bags under his eyes and thought even his face looked thinner. The members seemed really happy to see her and she rightly assumed Kai had spent every minute he could locked in his room shutting the world and you out. "Hey" she smiled trying not to let on she was concerned and she played along with Kai pretending nothing was wrong until they were alone.

"So thanks for dropping this off" Kai said wondering why their mum wanted him to have this odd pair of shoes but when he saw Bahiyyih hesitating he knew this wasn't just a drop-off.

He sighed and shook his head "Bahiyyih I don't want to talk about it". "Look I know you don't but I just wanted to say I think you're judging her before knowing the full story". "I know enough" Kai replied and Bahiyyih shook her head. "Come on Kai...she didn't date you to annoy me. She didn't go through all that for me, she did it because she likes you". "But how do I know that?" Kai asked "I feel like I can't trust her at all". Bahiyyih frowned "well look at the facts, like how she was with you. Around you, she was sweet, caring and genuine. We all saw a side to her we didn't know existed and she was real with you. It wasn't an act or mask that was the real her and you brought that out in her. It was real Kai I'm sure". Kai stated at his sister but eventually sighed "even if that's true I don't know if I can take that chance, if I can trust her again". Bahiyyih sighed "well ultimately that is your call but you know her Kai. It wasn't fake and I think if you just think over the time you spent together you'll realise that too...but I promise not to talk about it anymore. I'm neutral". "You are?" Kai said "I thought you'd be on her side". "There are no sides but of course, I wouldn't be against you. I love you both and want you both to work this out" Bahiyyih said "I want whatever is best for you both and if you need someone to talk to I'm here". Kai smiled "when did you get so mature?" and Bahiyyih smiled "there's a lot you don't know about me big brother".

Bahiyyih was hopeful that something she'd said would stick but a week later, nothing had happened. She knew her brother was hurt by this but had no idea it ran so deep and like you said, had destroyed all his trust in you. She knew she shouldn't meddle anymore but this whole situation wasn't fair on you or Kai and you were both miserable, so she spoke to the only other people who might be able to convince Kai, his members. They all agreed Kai needed to at least hear you out and promise Bahiyyih they'd work on him. That same she got a text saying Kai would speak to you.

You met Kai two days later at his dorm, where all the guys were mysteriously absent, giving you the place to yourselves. Silence had never felt so loud as when Kai let you in and you led you to the living room wordlessly. You sat down facing one another and weren't sure if Kai wanted to start but after a few seconds, you couldn't take it anymore.

"Kai I'm so sorry!" you said "I never meant to hurt you and the teasing was just something I said to annoy Bahiyyih. I liked you from our first meeting and wouldn't have kept talking to you if I didn't!". Kai blinked and looked down almost startled but you continued. "I know I've really hurt you and my words mean nothing to you but I promise if you take me back, I will make it up to you and will prove I am telling the truth and you can trust me again". Kai stood up abruptly and you frowned "Kai? Are you okay?". "No" he said "because you don't get it Y/n I'm not like you. I'm not social and good at talking to people. So to have you, this beautiful funny confident girl date me...and then to find out it started as a joke...it's not funny to me" he said "I've been told so many times to just be patient and the right girl would come along. That I'd find someone who loved me for me and I...this hurt more because I thought my waiting was over" Kai said "but then I found out you didn't even like me initially. Not enough to come over to me just because you wanted to. You gave me hope Y/n just to shatter it". "But it's not shattered Kai" you said "I like you! I want to be that person you were describing! I care about you and love how kind you are and how hot and confident you are around me. I want you!" you said annoyed at everything "and just because I didn't know that when I first met you doesn't make it untrue". Kai didn't say anything so you sighed. "Kai, is there anything I can do to reassure you I care about you? You must've thought there was still some hope here or you wouldn't have agreed to speak to me". Kai looked at you and you saw the tears in his eyes and buckled. "Oh Kai" you exhaled and hugged him. Kai crumpled into you and you both held onto each other.

Even after you'd both calmed down, you still stayed pressed together and you kept saying you were sorry until Kai shushed you. You frowned "but I am!" and Kai smiled "I know but it's okay. I think we can try and move forward from this". "We can?" you cried excitedly and Kai smiled, trying hard to contain his own glee. "Yes" he said "I do really care about you, enough to put myself at risk a second time and I feel I can trust you". You nodded "you can Kai I promise!" and peppered him in kisses until he started dolphin screaming.

That was when all the guys got back from their exile and when they heard Kai screaming, they came rushing only to smile seeing how happy he looked. "Hey guys!" he beamed spotting them "we're back together". Yeonjun smiled "yeah we figured, glad to have you back Y/n". "Glad to be back!" you replied flinging yourself into Kai's arms and neither of you could be any happier.

You'd dodged a bullet and now had your arms wrapped around your prize.

random mayans thoughts, 5x10 aka series finale edition:

on a personal note: the more I use the word fuck the more mad I am. so no one make "how many times did she say fuck" a drinking game, you'll end up with alcohol poisoning tonight.

- Miguel brought the letters and photos to Felipe's funeral and hadn't EZ run his fucking mouth he would've finally told him and Angel, who spotted the letters anyway, that they're brothers. fucking hell, we spent FOUR SEASONS invested in the they're brothers storyline and what came of it? ultimately nothing. what was all of that for when there was no resolution whatsoever?! fucking disappointing and frustrating. and why the fuck did Potter call Felipe "Ignacio Cortez" when he showed up? his name was Ignacio CORTINA, you fucking morons. writers can't even remember their own characters' names, huh?

- I fucking hate what they did to Miguel this season. and I'm not even talking about murdering him, I'm talking about how they first changed his entire life's history to some shit that didn't make sense at all, that Felipe knew the entire time he's his father, the letters and photos popping up out of thin air. and if that wasn't enough they insulted Miguel's intelligence because not for one second has he noticed how much Emily hates him? Miguel in season 2 sent Nestor to keep an eye on her when he didn't trust her, he knew she was lying to him. but this season, where she was even colder, more distant he doesn't see it? he seriously thought after everything, they could just start over fresh and she'd be fine and love him like nothing ever happened? who is this person that looks like Miguel Galindo? this is not the man I knew and fell in love with. the Miguel I knew would've never let his guard down like that, only to be murdered in a way he never even saw coming. it's such a big fucking disappointment and I'm so mad, I feel like my skin is on fucking fire. and what's even worse in all of that is that Emily got away with everything. how did the camera not catch when she asked Luis to carry Cristobal upstairs? they must've heard that he was nowhere near when Miguel went down. or when he came running back down yelling after the shot? how did that not end up on the audio?

- that "war" at the Sons clubhouse did not feel like a war at all. hell, it was a lot worse when the Mayans came for the Vatos Maldiots back in season 2 and there were a lot less Mayans with a lot more and heavier guns at the time. it was hard to follow everyone on screen because of the fast fight sequences and camera angles but Guero delivered some good punches, I just know he had a ton of fun. Isaac got what he deserved, I just didn't think he'd go out this early in the episode.

- as fucked up as the episode is as a whole, Bottles putting his glasses on Guero and them joking around at the party was a fun moment and damn, that man looks cute with glasses, lmao.

- Marcus has given up the club life for good, Izzy gave birth to their baby boy and they're a happy family. life is good for them. when Bishop came to visit, that was an actual sweet scene, him assuring Alvarez that he's doing the right thing.

- fucking Downer, he changed his mind and wanted to help Cielo get away but she panicked. I get it in a way, she's just a normal chick who got caught up in that life and what are you gonna do when you think they're coming to kill you? defend yourself. but man, it was unexpected and it hurts. and then she turns herself in and gives Potter the ammo he needed all along to come for the whole club.

- Letty is on a revenge path but was it just me who thought that maybe a revolver with only, what?, 6-8 rounds would've been her own death? now she's back with the Broken Saints instead and we won't ever find out but I'm sure that return didn't go over so well either. I'm not saying they killed her but she definitely has a lot of explaining to do before they take her back in. at least she rescued Sally, that poor dog has seen enough.

- the Reyes brothers talking on that bridge was a good scene too, Angel realizing that he has to leave to live for his son. I hate that he never found out Luisa died, he still thinks she just up and left them. even if painful, he would have deserved that closure. but what did he mean with "you put the Mayans on top" because that's not true. not even a little bit. their entire pipeline blew up. even if it hadn't ended the way it did, they would have been neck deep in trouble with the other MCs, with Cole and Grant, with the prisons. we spent a whole season watching them fight for that pipeline and again, what did we get? ultimately nothing. no resolution. no end. just a whole lot of plot holes so big you could drive a truck through them, which is fucking frustrating.

- that scene in the templo was fucking brutal, even for my standards. I predicted EZ would die slowly and painfully in front of a lot of people but holy fucking shit, everyone taking a stab at him is not the method I thought of. man, Clayton really pissed off someone in that writers room because Angel lost, with exception of his son, everything and everyone in half a season. and while yes, EZ the rat had to go, doing it was not just brutal on Angel. everyone seemed to struggle to wrap their heads around what was happening. but hey, they finally patched in Nestor, he earned it. and so did Bottles for killing Sofia. if they were gonna eliminate Cielo for knowing too much, naturally Sofia had to go to. just that whole pregnancy thing was completely unnecessary. I’m glad Angel and his son got out in time before the raid and can live their life free. I hope they get therapy as they recover from the tragedy they left behind, Mav might be young but he’s already been through a fuck ton.

- the ATF raid, I can't fucking believe Potter of all people has the upper hand and walks away free to do whatever fucked up thing he does next. I hate that there's no closure as to who lives and who died after they shot up the clubhouse because as a general rule I hate open endings. a couple weeks back, friends and I joked the military would just drop a bomb on Santo Padre and turn it into a parking lot, unbelievable that this wasn't even that far off... but we didn't get to see bodies so the status quo is that Guero is alive. he might have caught a bullet or three to the shoulder, maybe the stomach and a leg but he's alive and recovering! and yes, probably facing 25 to multiple life sentences but that’s still better than death. don't you dare come at me with canon and how no one survived, JD himself said in an EW interview "it is up to the imagination of the viewers". I lost Miguel, twice basically, so I'm not gonna lose Guero too, I need one win. if you disagree, that's your choice but this is where I plant my flag.

and that concludes not only season 5 but Mayans MC as a whole. it was a fucking mess and had been for years and I'm laughing at the thought that this is how they planned all along the show would end because seriously, it was kind of pathetic. I'm sure there is a lot more to be said about the hundreds of plot holes and loose ends they left us with but for right now, fuck this shit is exhausting, lol.

I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher

That Ms. Dodds transformation was clean though I wish she was more threatening.

The insistence of the line "I didn't touch Nancy" caught me off guard. Simply, "I didn't push her." Would've sounded more natural.

Love the Jackson sass in Sally, but I'd prefer more from Gabe. He wasn't angry and irrational enough, not gross enough, he conceded to Sally too quickly. If This guy got turned to stone by the severed head of Medusa I'd just feel kinda bad for him.

I was really hoping for the "Not a scratch on this car, brain boy." and Percy's "Like I'd be the one driving 🙄"

The word vomit from Sally was a little much but Percy's Jesus line was gold.

"You are singular." Just kinda took me out of the moment. Odd wording in such an emotional beat.

I hear all my film professors screaming in my head. Why did Percy stop running when his Mom was fighting the Minotaur? He started, then just stood there and watched. Run, Percy, run!

This moment would have a lot more impact if he was running to her when she disappeared.

His battle with the Minotaur, the lack of music until he rips off the horn, well done. Very well done.

I'm so happy they're keeping the chapter titles for the episodes.

Okay why was the "You drool when you sleep" so ominous and random. Like it was filmed and edited as an afterthought just to check the "Iconic Line" box without understanding why it's iconic. It's funny cause he's thinking she's gonna say how cool he is or whatever. Then she says "You drool when you sleep." and runs off. Real 12-year-old energy there.

Grover's nervous energy I know and love. Aryan is killing it!

"I think my dad must be around here somewhere. I don't know how to ask for him. I don't even know his name. But I think I should see him, I think I really need that right now. Can you help me?" ...What is this?

Dionysus trying to trick him into thinking he's his father was funny but Percy actually believing it...? Would've loved that inner commentary in this moment.

The Camp Half-Blood grounds looks so barren and underdeveloped to me. The cabin area is wonderful though.

I was so scared that tree nymph with Grover was Thalia. I think this only character design I'm not a fan of so far. Her eyes felt uncanny and too human. Maybe a bit more color variation in her face bark(?) or some kind of framing, textural detail.

Yes! They're including weird demigod dreams!

I'm loving the portrayal of Luke by Charles Bushnell. He's caring, understanding, laidback. The masterful cold delivery of "Hermes is my father," but brushing it off like the Cool Guy he is, "But that doesn't matter, we're all on the same team here."

His arc is going to be devastating.

Oh and Percy's message to his mom, so happy to report he's actually making friends but he's talking about Luke and Chris Rodriguez.

More "singular" usage by important characters. Is there a reason for this?

Final thoughts...

Let's start with some positives.

The set design, production design, and costume design are remarkable. With a handful of exceptions, overall, it looks gorgeous, especially with the A+ cinematography and lighting. Gorgeous!!

The porch of the Big House with the stained glass was an phenomenal choice. I love it so much.

The action is well-paced and dynamic, keeping the fight scenes interesting and believable.

And the acting is wonderful despite the writing.

Oh, the writing... Yeah, I don't like it.

It doesn't do justice to the actors or the characters.

Walker is naturally funny. Watch him in anything, any interview ever. The kid played alongside Ryan Reynolds as a younger version of him. Dare I say he outshined Ryan himself in The Adam Project.

Percy narrated everything, for five whole books. And them some. We know this kid. He's funny. He's observant, sarcastic, imaginative, impulsive, a bit clueless, but sweet.

I think regular or even occassional voiceover commentary from Percy would be gamechanging. I mean that with my whole heart and soul. If I could change one thing about the whole series it would be this.

Walker could really shine but I feel like his dialogue is lacking. And sometimes just a bit odd. Like, who talks like that? (There's my professors again). Sounds kinda AI-generated to me. (not speculating, I think it's just bad writing.)

There was a lot of great lines, don't get me wrong. But I think overall, everyone's dialogue is coming up short. The PJO we know is clever and fun and I don't think it reflects that well at all.

Percy Jackson is one of the most popular series ever with a very distinct style that makes it stand out from other YA fiction stories. I feel like more could've been done to preserve those vibes and translate them to the screen.

Movie/show adaptations of books are often hit-or-misses. I think the PJ fandom has always been so passionate about getting it right is because of that distinct style.

Rick is there. They have a phenomenal cast. It's good, but it could have been extraordinary. It could have been groundbreaking. But they settled.

There were many, many moments I saw could have been instantly improved but the smallest change. But they settled.

All this to say... I'm disappointed, but I'm not surprised, and I'm not mad.

When the rest of the episodes come out, I think it'll come together to be a decent adaptation and a fun show. I'm staying positive.

-I really don't like mirror horror lol. The entity has Doppelganger/Stranger vibes. A knocking? The mirror maybe? Oh, a hidden hallway. . . The way the buildings change around them is really unsettling. Yeah, just enter the random hallway and doorway. Nothing can go wrong by doing that. I just want know what is helping the gents and why.

-Yeah, um, this isn't good. The sound engineering is fantastic though! Hmmmm

-So, did Steve just get thrown out the attic to the ground? Ah, fuck. Time loss again. Shit. Not a mention of Steve, huh Nate? And Jess has been wiped out of existence. More knocking. Slippy : Pretty much about 50 years ago. Who knew 2001 was such a huge year for those kind of incidents? World Trade Center incident, Space Colony Ark incident, I know all those kind of incidents that terrorists were part of the Colony's role, But I did know that the incident occurred in both countries America and Japan when a demon made of Ink caused a mess over the country public and the attacks in Tokyo since Japan's four-fifths of the population of have wiped by an explosion of massive energy called the "Shattering", the name of that explosion that occurred twice in 94' and in 2003 that is the city of Tokyo.

Tsugumi : Sounds right. Even though, the name that I only mentioned was Maka Albarn who, I remembered that the entire world turned against her for calling herself a hero and for attacking the cities that she used to live in. I wonder what did I remember of who that girl looked like. Yeah, her name was Inky Albarn, the queen of the Ink Demons. She is a 70-year old demon queen who was the consort of the of the inky demon named Bendy.

Slippy : That might be the case of it. A 70-year old demon queen was imprisoned underneath New York for 70 years before Maka Albarn. My suggestion that Inky Albarn might be the great grandmother or someone that is different from Real World AU. Her origins are exactly unknown to this point, but it's wisely to think that she is a dangerous threat to mankind.

Tsugumi : That was not her fault that she did something wrong. I wonder what was all this vengeance to think that she did it? It must've something happened about 70 before that. Anyways, I must be focusing on getting pass through this entire underwater lab. This place is crawling with hi-tech robots made by that mad scientist! I wonder this must be the interference that no one would let us through?

Slippy : That's what security does, Tsugumi. That's what security does. Hey, check out that big bubbly ball over there. It will help you get across to that door. But watch for the lasers, it might go POP the ball and makes you fall into that dark pit.

So which direction that it's leading me to? I have no idea if this is such a good idea that i'm currently following directions. I have no idea where is this compass telling me which direction that it leads me to the north. Quite simple on the laboratory's map. But I have a good point tho.

Slippy : I know, right? This is where the door that leads to level 2 is down here on the north and it's basically locked with security. I know if there was a key or switch to open the door on the north. But the only problem is that the switch to the door is not here. So It's located in another room. But can you make it there?

Tsugumi : Slippy. Where can I find the switch? Where can I find the switch so that I can open the door?

Slippy : The door on the upper part finding to the room where the switch to the door on the lower part is located on the northeast.

Tsugumi : And let me guess. There's lots of security full of Eggman badniks. Yeah right. Hmph. That's not so bad. I got this.

Time for a Salty Meta Post about Martin!

people who’ve followed this blog for a bit know that spending six hours combing through text for some goddamn sources is my specialty, so i compiled every time jon ever talked about martin’s work in season 1. which for the record, he stopped complaining about all the way back in episode 26, where he was angry that martin of all people got hurt.

things jon gets mad at martin for:

not being able to find records that don’t exist

not being able to find someone based only on a first name

the Dog

not wearing trousers in his off-hours

being the one that got caught up in the jane prentiss thing

mag 004 and mag 012 both have jon taking potshots at martin over research that was proven accurate by outside sources

things jon has never once complained about:

martin not understanding the filing system and just putting stuff away at random

martin being clumsy, constantly ruining things, spilling tea everywhere everyday, etc

martin turning in incompetent, poorly-edited, or badly formatted reports

martin not understanding the terminology used, skills expected, etc., and generally being extremely new to the field

please for the love of god stop making martin the silly bumbling idiot who can’t do anything right just because he doesn’t have a formal education. there’s zero evidence for it in the text, and it’s really weird to act like a 4 year degree would outweigh the *10 years* of job experience he has, not just in academia, but in the institute itself by season one. my boy has worked there longer than ANY of the rest of the main cast. screw you guys.

tl;dr: martin is never once shown to be bad at his job, jon pretty much only ever gets mad at him for the really stupid first impression and also not finding stuff that no one else was able to find either. after martin got hurt, jon talks about his research basically the same way he talks about tim’s or sasha’s work.

they also bring a shit ton of food with them when they stay the night at a place and they'll deadass be eating while talking about the history of the place

daichi started out being afraid of almost every place he had to walk into but after having to deal with the chaotic mess that is suga for an entire season, he no longer Feels Fear

this is because suga will deadass film a tiktok dance video no matter where he is

suga: *dancing along to ‘I’m a Savage’ or whatever that tiktok song is called*

daichi: *at cameraman* do you see what i have to deal with every day?’

suga is only genuinely scared by ghosts when his followers point out that a ghost was caught on camera in one of his tiktok videos

that was the end of suga’s tiktok career

tanaka and nishinoya:

another bunch of loud bois but they are much louder than kageyama and hinata

they’re very much into proving the existence of cryptids and are most known for that episode they spent hunting bigfoot by dressing up to look like bigfoot

tanaka: ‘you know that thing they do in cartoons where they stack on top of each other under a coat so they look like just one big guy?’

nishinoya: ‘ryuu i love you so fucking much’

both of them are very committed in their investigation of the supernatural and they’re very unconventional approaches

kuroo deadass flirts with any ghost or demon they encounter and kenma would sleep over in a haunted asylum for ten bucks

kenma: kuroo, there’s a demon inside her

kuroo: well, i’m a bit of a demon myself

kenma: she attempted to choke a guy in his sleep

bokuto and akaashi:

bokuto is a die-hard mothman fan and akaashi is emotionally involved in proving that ghosts exist he will stop at nothing

akaashi: all of the evidence on the shadow figures and orbs spotted in this place can only suggest one thing...

bokuto: mothman did it

akaashi: no

bokuto: yes

akaashi: mothman is literally five states away

bokuto: he has wings

during their individual investigations, akaashi has already foreseen how bokuto is going to react

producer: it’s been quiet for a while. do you think bokuto’s no longer scared?

akaashi: oh no. he should be screaming right about now...

bokuto, inside the haunted house: *screams and waves his flashlight around*

akaashi:  and then he’s gonna call for help

bokuto: AKAAAAAASHIIIIIIIIII

*few hours later*

bokuto: i saw my life flash before my eyes in there

akaashi: *muttering incoherently near his ‘evidence wall’ full of blurry pictures and red string*

bokuto: i must’ve stared into the abyss at one point

ushijima and tendou:

ushijima’s knowledge of ghosts is based on hollywood movies and tendou has exorcised places just by vibing

ushijima: *brings out a pottery wheel* if there are any ghosts in here, you know what to do

he’s actually never watched Ghost he just knows That One Scene

tendou: *naruto-running through the goatman bridge with a go-pro strapped to his head* IT’S MY BRIDGE GOATMAN, IT’S MY BRIDGE!!!

the Goatman Himself: i’ve never felt so fucking scared in my entire fucking life

ushijima believes that chanting in latin will Summon the Ghosts and tendou takes full advantage of that

tendou: *handing ushijima a slip of paper* here, apparently this will summon a full-bodied apparition

ushijima: thanks *begins chanting*

producer, interviewing tendou to the side: okay, what did you make him read this time?

tendou: i typed out ‘let me eat your ass’ in latin on google translate and went from there

cameraman: *zooms in on ushijima chanting*

the ghost haunting the castle: *is confused in French*

in the end neither of them get evidence on ghosts

ushijima: well, we'll have better luck next time

tendou: maybe even revisit this place ?

the ghosts: i know i'm dead but this is the first time i've been scared for my life
