Diluc/Childe

TW: Blood and gore, limbs get a little broken, suicidal idealisation because “uh oh, I'm a zombie and I don't want to kill my loved ones”

Zombie apocalypse AU where Childe gets bit and he immediately hides from everyone.

He figures that he is going to die. One horrible thing about zombies is that they retain their combat abilities from their life. So Childe knew. He just knew that his zombie self would cause chaos. He doesn't want that. He doesn't have time to leave a note. They were in the middle of an open battlefield and Childe didn't know how long he had before he would fully turn.

He could already feel an itchiness in his mind. Something that could not be scratched.

He ran as far as he could as fast as he could. Zombies didn't stop to go after him. So he did what any sane person would do and slaughtered them as he went by. Even while killing his own kind, they didn't go after him. Childe essentially had invincibility. He would use it wisely before time was up.

He figured that once the insanity turned onto other things, he would cut off his legs and break his arms. At least then he would not be able to hurt anybody.

That time did not come.

Zombies we're creatures that didn't sleep. But they didn't have an infinite amount of energy. Zombies rose with the sun and fell by the moon. The reason was because the moon didn't provide enough energy like the sun did. Humans give no nutritional value. However, other animals do. And with the power of eating things that wasn't his own species, Childe was free to kill as many undead as he could.

Hordes of zombies were slaughtered within days.

The resistance was terrified. They had lost one of their best fighters... But the hordes of zombies were draining faster than they could gather intel. They found battlefields filled with hundreds of zombie corpses but never any non-turned.

Many people of the resistance have some sort of animal companion that can either carry a person or a letter to other branches of the resistance. To many, it's a horse or dog, in some rare cases- a bird. Childe’s familiar was a fox. These animals aren't spiritually connected to a human in any way; they are just simply animals who favor the help of humans. Childe’s fox liked only a few people. With the disappearance of Childe, came the disappearance of his fox as well.

Until one day it came back to the resistance with a note tied around it's neck.

“A few weeks ago I was bitten by a zombie during the battle to retake Liyue Harbor. I fled in hopes that I would not be able to harm any of our own. On my way out, I found that the zombies will not attack me.

Before my death, I want to help create a world where we can one day be safe. I feel the effects on my mind. I will not be returning. However, I will do my best to assist you on the battle front.

Please send with Shore the locations of the hordes that need dispensing with at once. I do not know how much longer I will last.

I will send updates every other day via Diluc’s falcons. Allow one to follow Shore.

Do not send people.

Please.”

The resistance compiles a list of places where there are many zombies. One of these places being the city of Mondstadt.

Childe sends a letter detailing that he will be heading to Mondstadt and to recall anyone in that area back to base. They comply... to an extent. Diluc doesn't listen to commands and heads to watch his overrun city. He watches Childe approach. Diluc watches as Childe dispatches of all zombies. Childe hunts them down with a mechanical efficiency and speed. A city that would've taken nearly the entire resistance to reclaim... is reclaimed by a single man. To Diluc, it looks as though Childe still has full control over himself.

Diluc has greatly missed the other and goes to confront him while he leaves the gates of the city. Once Childe spots him, he summons his water blades, but he doesn't turn them against Diluc. Instead, Childe quickly breaks the shin of one of his legs. Before Childe can break the other, Diluc is on him, fighting away his weapon.

Childe is crying.

“Why? Why didn't you just-”

Diluc is also crying.

“You're such an idiot!”

Diluc refuses to kill Childe. He refuses to mutilate him further too.

Diluc has to restrain Childe by binding his legs and arms so that he doesn't further injure himself. To both of their surprise, Childe’s symptoms of turning are not progressing. In fact, Childe should've fully turned many days ago.

....

“Just promise me one thing.”

“What is it?”

“If I show any signs of turning. Cut off my legs and arms and kill me.”

Diluc grimaced.

“Promise me. Or I'll bite my tongue off here and now and you'll deal with the consequences of whatever demon I’ll be.”

“You wouldn't do that.”

“Do you know that? I'm not who I was. I'm a monster.”

....

Childe’s condition does change. His bloodlust grows rapidly. Tartaglia’s name on the battlefield was already well known for his lust for battle. But this... This wasn't just lust. This was a hunger for a bloody fight and Ajax was a starving man.

During the night, Childe escapes his bindings. Diluc is sleeping at the time and Childe is so quiet with his escape that he didn't wake up.

I just think it's really neat how much fans have latched onto the fact that Stephanie Brown was Robin.

Like, both in and out of universe Stephanie was never meant to be taken seriously as Robin. The writers only made her Robin so that her death in War Games would be shocking and Bruce only made her Robin because he thought it would make Tim jealous enough to come back. She only had the mantle for 71 days before being fired (for doing something that literally every other Robin has also done and not been fired over), and she was only active during 50 of them. There are only six issues where Steph is Robin in the canon timeline.

Her final words before her death are asking Batman (Batman, because even on her death bed he doesn't trust her enough to take off his mask) if any of it was real. Was she really Robin? And Batman assures her that of course she was, that she was part of the legend and no one can take it away from her. Except it's a lie, because despite his reassurances, Batman never puts up a memorial or does anything to preserve her memory. He never really thinks of her as Robin, and even her friends will always think of her as Spoiler before ever remembering Robin.

Meanwhile DC spent years ignoring her time as Robin, to the point where it was completely erased from existence for awhile. It's technically back now, because timelines are weird, but unlike the others it's never been altered. She's never been given a second chance at it, no one's ever gone back and added more issues or details about those 71 days, or even seems to want to acknowledge them most of the time.

But fans have clung on to it anyway. Sure, there are lots of people who make Robin posts that are just about the boys, but there are just as many people who are ready to fight anyone who doesn't include her. Maybe it was only for a little while, but she was Robin, and we're sure as hell not going to forget it. If DC isn't going to bother to remember, than we will.

Stephanie Brown was Robin. She was part of the legend. It was real. No matter what, no one can take that away from her.

I mean his struggle sounds real, he sounds so frustated when it happens, I will never shut up about it bc that's the most autistic shit (I'm not saying that every autistic person do it) he can do. I know Heimerdinger's Christian Linke's favorite character, and I sort of tolerated it in s1, but now it feels like things are a little too indulgent. Heimerdinger gets to team up with Ekko to launder his reputation through Ekko and the Firelights. Heimerdinger gets the first narrative game and second character teaser in the promotional cycl. Heimerdinger gets to SING A SONG that's included on the s2 Arcane soundtrack (Spin the Wheel).

Maybe I'd be less annoyed if the show at least did more to acknowledge Heimerdinger's failings as a leader, but his character description can't even do that. This is how the official Arcane website describes Heimerdinger:

"Heimerdinger warned the Piltover Council about the dangers of using magic without tangible solutions for safeguarding its use. Learning from his mistakes with Jayce, Heimerdinger inspires Ekko to keep looking for a solution and works with him to solve the problem, instead of just offering advice."

That's not Heimerdinger's main problem! The problem is the fact he's the person most singularly responsible for the state of Zaun and Piltover. It feels like the show and the cast are just dancing around the fact that Heimerdinger technically has the highest body count in the show (Day of Ash, pollution, extreme poverty, etc). The one time someone puts him to task (Jayce), the show makes it seem like Jayce is wrong or overstepped, and yeah he did do it for Viktor's sake, but Jayce was right! Heimerdinger's bad at his job, he shouldn't be in a leadership position if he's a bad leader.

i locked in too hard and fought tooth and nail with ibis paint to make this but by god i did it 🛌 THE FILE GOT CORRUPTED LIKE 5 TIMES. i think turbo is real and he is out to get me.

these are a collection of experiments i did to figure out how i want to draw The Freak! i certainly learned a lot. i love drawing characters in 50 different ways with no consistency its so fun moohahaha. expect more turbo art in the future (but probably less artistically chaotic as this turned out 👶 oopsays)

Another year has passed, and with it the opportunity to reflect back on all that has happened. While my growth was not as dramatic as last year, I can still see lots of positive change.

I'll never have enough ways to say thank you for all the love and support you have given me this year. On to 2025!

can i just say. and this is probably a niche hill to die on. that i am so gobsmacked every time someone vaguely hints at the idea that jotaro doesn't care meaningfully for the other crusaders, usually particularly kakyoin and joseph, when those two actually tend to be the ones he reacts to being hurt the hardest

like he cares for his loved ones!!!! that literally plays into his character motives in every single part he shows up in!!! stop lying to me!!!!!!!

Literally all I want for Season 2, or fanfics, is for VOX to use the fact that Alastor was wounded defending the hotel and disappeared and Charlie et all didn't even LOOK FOR HIM - not AGAINST Alastor but to try and get Alastor ON HIS SIDE. Cause you know for all his being obvious about how much he hates Alastor what he really wants is Alastor on his team, joining the Vees, being his friend (and maybe more) again, and if he sees a chance to get that he will jump on it.

Please, please, please. Vox has the footage, and from what we know, he hasn't released it to the public yet. I am so expecting him to hang it over Alastor's head and rub it in Alastor's face that no one went looking for him.

We also know that the Hazbin crew didn't see Alastor's fight, and as far as we know, they don't know the extent of his injuries either. When/if Vox does release that footage, I want that to be when they realize just how injured Alastor was.

He literally almost died and all they know is that he disappeared halfway through the battle. I'm so curious about what they think made Alastor to leave. If they knew he was super injured, I can't imagine Charlie would've left him to his own devices, or at the very least, she would've checked in on him from time to time.

So do they think he just upped and bailed on them? Do they think he abandoned the fight? Do they think he just fled like a coward the moment he was injured? As much as I make fun of Alastor for that fight, I don't think he fled out of cowardice.

I mean, he took a MASSIVE hit right across his chest. From the top side of his left shoulder all the way to the right side of his torso--almost to his hip. Look at how big his wound is!

Who wouldn't retreat after taking a hit like that? I'm pretty sure (aside from Sir Pentious getting holy blasted to ash) out of all the Hazbin crew, Alastor suffered the most damage from that fight.

Not only that, but the hit was deep enough that blood was dripping down Adam's guitar.

I'm not being dramatic. Go back and rewatch that scene. Alastor's blood was dripping down it. It wouldn't have gotten on Adam's guitar to that degree if the cut was only surface level.

Alastor wasn't just bleeding from his chest, but he was bleeding from his mouth too. Either slamming into the parapet made him bite his tongue, or he was coughing up blood.

And considering how many sparks and bits of light were coming off his cane (green light in particular, which is the color that highlights his abilities) it has obvious significance to his power.

And it was cut in half.

That is the face of a man going "ohhhh...I'm fucked."

Adam had the upper hand. Alastor was in no condition to keep fighting.

If he stayed, he would have died.

Him retreating was the logical thing to do.

AND NOBODY KNOWS THAT. Nobody but the Vee's.

When/if the Hazbin crew see that footage (or see the extent of the wound themselves) I hope they realize just how close Alastor was to dying and understand that he didn't leave the fight for no real reason. If they give him any flack for retreating or not taking Adam down, I want them to feel bad about it when they see why that was.
