Roses for You (8)
This had all started when you noticed a link between a book on the language of flowers you had borrowed from Satan’s room and the current lessons from your Seductive Speechcraft and Magical Potions classes.
In Seductive Speechcraft, you had just reached a section on the effectiveness of spells using non-verbal communication: enchanting glances, dance, and offerings. Meanwhile, in Magical Potions, the professor had been discussing the significance of using specific quantities when concocting potions; they had spent fifteen minutes just providing examples – including adding petals from two different flowers when using them for a love spell.
You couldn’t resist discussing the use of flower language – utilizing the type, color, and quantity of the flowers – to specify the magical intent of an offering as a form of seductive speechcraft. Asmo and Solomon listened intently. The same idea popped into both of their minds, and before you knew it, everyone was looking into color and number meanings, searching for the perfect combination to convey their feelings for you and try to put you under their spell. The only rule for their little competition to charm you? Only roses are allowed.
Will you be charmed by their attempts?
Eight Roses - Diavolo
Word Count: +900
Gratitude / Support
“MC,” Diavolo greeted you at the castle door with a huge puppy-energy grin, “come on in.”
“Oh, Diavolo, where’s Barbatos? Doesn’t he usually answer the door?”
“He’s at the market with Simeon. Besides, aren’t you happy to see me?” A pout sat on Diavolo’s lips.
“Of course, I am. I came here because you asked me to; of course, I was looking forward to seeing you. I was just a bit surprised, that’s all.”
Diavolo took your hands in both of his and flashed that sweet, princely smile of his. “Allow me to surprise you again. Will you come to my room with me?”
He awaited the slight nod of your head as if he thought rejection was a possibility. At times, it was unfair that Diavolo’s personality and his status made him so difficult to say “no” to. Fortunately for you, what Diavolo craved – second only to his desire for peace between the three realms – was your happiness. It was easy to indulge him without a second thought. Even though you had no clue what awaited you behind his bedroom door – although given the rose antics of late, you had some clue – you trusted Diavolo entirely.
When you got to his door, Diavolo turned and asked you to close your eyes. You obliged, and with one hand firmly on your back, Diavolo guided you safely into the room. His touch left you slowly with a small squeeze to your side: a signal for you to stand still. The absence was followed by the soft thud of the door closing behind you and some indeterminate noises.
“Should I be concerned?” you asked the entire room, certain that Diavolo was somewhere in there with you.
“Open your eyes, MC.”
Diavolo was on one knee before you, holding out a bouquet of eight roses – four peach and four lavender – in a black anatomical heart vase. As he looked up at you, the sweetness in his gaze was overwhelming – like light brown sugar and honey. Your breath caught in your throat as you stared back, trapped in that sweetness.
A blush grew on Diavolo’s cheeks, suddenly flustered by your speechlessness. His confidence faltered momentarily, and he wondered if the message was unclear. Perhaps you would appreciate the words from his lips more than soft petals and pale colors. Without a second more of hesitation, he spoke: “I’m certain I’ve made it clear how much I adore you by now, but I need you to understand something else: I’m indefinitely grateful to you. All your hard work and support is more than I could have hoped for. You’ve brought so much joy into my life, and I need you to stay by my side. I know I have ambitious goals, and you’re often put in difficult situations because of me, but I couldn’t do this without you. Your presence only encourages me. You’ve charmed me – body and soul – and I’m eternally thankful for all of it. So, thank you, and please let me support you, too.”
Eight roses symbolized his gratitude and support. Peach was also a sign of thanks and appreciation, strengthening the message. Lavender signified his enchantment. Perhaps four of each color implied the lasting, steady nature of those feelings. All of it was stemming up from the heart. You meant so much to the future King of the Devildom. As loved as you were, in that moment, to be appreciated so deeply was worth more than any love you had known before. Tears welled up in your eyes, threatening to spill.
Diavolo noticed and got to his feet, quickly engulfing you in his arms. He held you securely, and that was all you needed to allow a few tears to drip onto his shoulders. In a feeble voice, you whispered against his body, “Thank you.”
“That’s my line,” Diavolo teased and pulled away. He gave you a smile before placing a kiss on your right cheek. Then, the left. He kissed the corner just below your left eye, savoring the precious sight of you closing that eye and scrunching your nose up at him. He did the same on the other side. He kissed your forehead, the bridge of your nose, both corners of your lips, and finally, once all the anticipation had boiled up, and you were grinning, Diavolo placed a gentle kiss on your lips.
When you kissed him back, you returned the sweetness and intensity tenfold – so much so that Diavolo nearly dropped the vase in his hand from surprise. He chuckled against your kiss. I’m supposed to be the one surprising you, he thought.
Without warning, Diavolo lifted you up with one arm. Startled by the sudden movement, you wrapped yourself around him. He walked you towards his bed where he promptly set the vase down on his bedside table. His newly free hand supported your back firmly. You expected him to set you down, too, but he continued to hold you up.
Carefully, you pulled away from him slightly. There was a mischievous look on his face. “Diavolo?”
“We still have a while before Barbatos returns.” Diavolo smirked, running his tongue along one of his canine teeth.
“And?” you teased, knowing full well what that glint in his eyes implied.
Diavolo set you down softly at the edge of the bed and sank to his knees at your feet. He stared up at you through his lashes. One of his hands ran up your leg and squeezed the top of your thigh gently. “Let me give you a reason to feel grateful, too.”
Lucifer (1) | Mammon (2) | Leviathan (3) | Satan (4) | Asmodeus (5) | Beelzebub (6) | Belphegor (7) | Barbatos (9) | Luke (10) | Simeon (11) | Solomon (12) | Thirteen (13) | Raphael (14) | Mephistopheles (15)
A/N: Woo. We're half-way through, now. I wasn't even sure I was going to get over 500 words with this, and it's somehow the longest one so far. I got really into it. I low-key got too into character and cried on behalf of MC. But I can cry really easily if I just get into character. Oops. Hope you enjoy it~

For the Unusual Fic-Specific Asks For Authors
Perspective Flip: I’ll write a scene from [that fic] from another character’s point-of-view
Would you consider doing Sharon’s point of view for The Hug™️ in Brenda’s bedroom from “where I’m going now, I don’t know”? If not, that’s totally ok! (I know that might not be one you want to revisit!) But, regardless I feel like I just want you to know that that scene is probably one of my absolute favorites I have ever read in fic or book. The tension, everything that’s led to that point, the absolute anticipation and intimacy is something I think about on a weekly basis. I can actually feel that scene, and I still hold my breath every single time I read it.💜
this made me like, GASP with excitement tbh
Sharon’s prediction, made over coffee and croissants with Charlie one morning while Brenda slept, was that Bobby and Joyce coming to visit would be good for Brenda in the long run, but perhaps set her back emotionally in the short term.
“We know she loves us,” Charlie said of the Johnson clan as a whole, “but we also know that she’s not much for visiting.”
Sharon thinks that it’s not the actual visiting that Brenda finds off-putting, but the time and the distance. Brenda’s family was always too far away, but even when they came to her, she worked through it all.
However, Brenda’s workaholic days seem to be behind her. Perhaps the best thing to come out of this overall shitty situation.
Sharon’s plan is to give the Johnsons space but she’s too curious to stay out of it completely, so she calls Brenda just to make sure everyone has arrived and been collected safely and earns a desperate dinner invitation for her trouble. Brenda’s high-pitched, casual tone is far more concerning than if they’d just spoken normally.
She’s worried that the keen observational skills that Brenda and, to a slightly lesser extent, Charlie have is a Johnson trait and that Brenda’s brother will take one look at her and know what’s in her heart. That she is and always has been harboring untoward thoughts about his sister.
Sharon dresses nicely for dinner. She doesn’t dress up, but she wears her designer jeans and the tailored blouse and spends a few extra minutes curling the ends of her hair. She let the sales lady in Sephora convince her that black eyeliner was too severe for her complexion and brown too dull, so she’d purchased a plum colored eyeliner to smudge into her lash line and she hates to admit that the woman was right and her green eyes do pop with minimal effort.
She stands on the porch for just a moment, wondering if she shouldn’t ring the doorbell, but that feels strange she gives a courtesy knock and lets herself in. The door is unlocked, of course, because it always is. It’s like Brenda wants to get murdered in the night.
Bobby Johnson looks so much like his sister that it’s a little disorienting at first. He’s taller than Brenda but only by a few inches. He has the same build, rail thin and wiry. The same coloring, the same wide mouth and deep set eyes. She remembers him from the funeral, but Sharon hadn’t sat that close to the family and everyone looks different in funeral clothes.
Introductions are made. Charlie is obviously nervous because she’s made a feast and keeps darting in and out of the kitchen, the backyard, her bedroom, never staying more than a few moments. She’s wearing the apron that Sharon got her for her birthday. Williams-Sonoma, a crossback chambray that she’d tucked into a whole basket of kitchen things. Sharon can see the little egg timer shaped like a peach sitting on the window sill now.
Dinner is delicious and the backyard glows warmly with string lights as the sun goes down. It all seems to be going fine at first, until Charlie’s mother starts asking pointed questions about what Charlie’s doing with her life out here in California and Brenda excuses herself and never comes back.
Of the two Johnson women that Sharon has grown so fond of, Charlie is the one most able to hold her own, so Sharon leaves the table too, carrying her plate and setting it in the sink. Brenda isn’t in the kitchen or the living room and the bathroom door is ajar. When Sharon doesn’t see her in the bedroom either, she feels a tendril of worry and moves to go make sure Brenda’s car is still in the drive way and she isn’t speeding toward Mexico, but then she sees her out of the corner of her eye, back against the wall, partially obscured by the open door.
She’s about to ask if Brenda is okay, but Brenda raises a finger to her lips and points to the open window. Then she extends her hand and Sharon takes it. Brenda gives her a good tug and she steps forward, and suddenly they’re flush. Sharon feels her heart jump as her blood starts to pump. Brenda reaches out and puts her arms around Sharon, so she does the same, melting into the hug.
Brenda smells like sunshine, like sunscreen and blooming jasmine and freshly cut grass. Sharon wants to put her face into Brenda’s neck and breathe deeply. She wants to run her tongue along Brenda’s jaw and slide her hands into all those blonde curls, but of course, she won’t. She squeezes harder in an effort to hold herself in place, on good behavior.
And then, as if Brenda has read her mind, Brenda turns and pushes her face into Sharon’s neck. Sharon’s entire body roars to life. She can feel every pore, every hair stand on end, every blood vessel swell. Her breath hitches and she tries to hold it together.
Out the window, she hears Charlie say something, but she couldn’t say what.
Brenda sighs and her breath is hot on Sharon’s neck. Sharon drags her hand up Brenda’s spine and she can feel each vertebrae through the fabric and skin. Brenda’s so warm and alive and as she moves her hand back down, she finds the hem of Brenda’s shirt.
When her hand moves back up, it slips under the fabric and slides along Brenda’s skin. Sharon didn’t mean to, she just can’t help herself. Brenda whimpers and arches her back, her breasts pushing into Sharon’s.
What are they doing? What are they doing? What are they doing? Why is Brenda torturing her like this? Does she know how Sharon feels? Did Charlie spill the beans? Is Brenda screwing with her? What are they doing?
Sharon feels the band of Brenda’s bra and Brenda’s exhale is a shuddery groan.
“Shh,” Sharon says softly. She doesn’t want to get caught and she certainly doesn’t want whatever is happening to stop. Her mouth is so close to Brenda’s ear. She presses her nose behind it, rubbing lightly, drunk on the smell of her.
Brenda twitches, like maybe she’s going to push Sharon away, but instead she puts her hands into Sharon’s hair and squeezes and Sharon can feel it in her scalp and then, in response, pleasure shoots down her spine and settles low. She’s breathing hard now, trying to suppress every urge in her body. Does Brenda even know what’s happening right now? Is she in there or is her brain locked away someplace safe where nothing can hurt her and her body is acting on autopilot… Sharon hopes not. She hopes that she’s the only one Brenda would touch like this.
She scratches the skin of Brenda’s back and when Brenda’s feet slide apart, Sharon’s body reacts and she angles her knee between Brenda’s thighs. Brenda sinks down with a whimper and Sharon can feel her, feel her center hot through Brenda’s cotton pants and the thick, dark denim covering Sharon’s legs. She wants to push hard against Brenda, wants Brenda to grind against her until she comes, Sharon’s tongue in her mouth to catch the sound.
They haven’t even kissed.
She pulls her hands out of Brenda’s shirt and cups her face instead, searching her eyes and hoping to find the answer. Is Brenda ready for Sharon to kiss her? Does she want it at all? Brenda’s eyes are glassy and her pink lips are parted, her breath coming out in little gasps.
It would be easy to kiss her now. But Brenda’s family is just on the other side of that wall, and Brenda looks dazed and lost and it wouldn’t be right.
Just as the arousal overtook her with lightning speed, Sharon now feels defeat coursing through her and she lets her head fall, landing on Brenda’s shoulder. Brenda hugs her again, their hearts beating fast and in sync.
“We should go save her,” Brenda whispers.
Sharon moves back, giving them some space and they part piece by piece until all contact is lost and all that’s left of the moment is Sharon’s tousled hair and Brenda’s wild, dark eyes.
this fic got published, for the one person left on earth who doesn't know that. buy it here!

hi! i just want to ask if you have any tips with adjusting the color of cc lipstick in the sims 4? like, they look fine on lighter color sims and then i try and use them on my black sims and their lips look horribly ashy and weird. do you think upping the saturation or brightness would help?
Hooo boy, okay so I'll be honest... I absolutely loathe putting makeup on my sims, mostly bc my sims wear overlay skins, but also bc a lotta the makeup I wanna use is alpha, but I also don't use the HQ mod.
Either way, whether alpha or MM, I've realized that even with the makeup sliders, it's an absolute nightmare finding the right match for your sims that aren't light skin.
My only suggestion is try out different creators, there's a few out there I know of that create makeup specifically for darker skinned sims, and although they don't, I've recently been trying out cosimetic on TSR, and I haven't tried their lipsticks yet, but their eyeshadows and eyeliners work pretty well on Isa with a little tweaking. Picking a creator that adds darker, richer swatches helps a lot too, bc using pinks and purples will absolutely get you that ashy look, no matter how much you mess with the sliders. So look for palettes that include lots of peaches, browns, and reds. Choose these in the swatch picker, then use the sliders to get the shade you actually want.
Tumblr media
Now regarding the sliders, yes, definitely mess with the saturation and brightness, the opacity slider also comes in handy, esp if you use overlay skins, or like to show a little of your sim's lip detail through the color, it'll also just smooth things out, and calm too bright of white shine, so I just highly suggest using it if even a little bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again I don't use makeup a lot on my sims, so I'm by no means an expert on this, but I hope this helps!

Sooooooo here's some character information for my book as well as some lore to the universe. If you get caught using my characters I will bitch you out until you remove it and stop writing it.
Character Introductions begin under the break
Charamaline Sapharia Isadris Keanan – Main Character
• Half angel half elf
• Angel tradition states offspring inherits mother or father’s middle name as a second middle name. The first middle name is meant to be unique, the second middle name is to honor the parent since eventually the last name may change
• Green eyes the same color as her father’s skin, light pink skin but obviously not peach, white wings with no pattern or colors, red hair that hangs down to her waist, forest green freckles. Long hair in women is seen as sacred
• Her mom is the angel, her dad is the elf
• 18 years old at the start of the book – 18th birthday is the start of the book
• Her tests will reveal she’s actually a light magic Nephilim, the first in 500 years. Angels aren’t proficient in light magic they can only make themselves glow with it. Nephilim are capable of producing light that can grow plants and light up whole towns.
• Morgana is her best friend, and her tests will reveal she’s a dark magic Nephilim
• Char is the oldest of five siblings
Morgana Korunsu Ymeldur – Secondary Main Character
• Half angel half unknown to her and her family. She’s half common folk (man)
• Her mother is the angel and her father left before Morgana was even a noticeable lump in her mother’s belly
• Brown eyes the same color as tree bark, peach colored skin, black wings that eventually have white streaks appear on them, silver hair that hangs down to her waist
• She’s two days away from her 18th birthday in the first chapter
• She’s the first dark magic user in almost 1,000 years. They were wiped out in a previous battle and no one has been capable of using dark magic or conceiving a spawn capable of using dark magic. It’s not evil twisted magic it’s straight up darkness magic. She can control shadows, blot out the sun, make a room darker
• Her family is treated a little oddly by the rest of the town but not shunned because Morgana’s mom is the one angel in town who is proficient in death magic and the town’s current Mortician. Morgana’s stepdad and the father of her two younger siblings is a great guy who is part angel and part elf. Morgana’s younger brother has elf ears to go with his wings, but their younger sister had normal ears.
Hazel Isadris Keanan – Char’s mother
• Full angel who has mastered several forms of magic but is most proficient in fire, water, plant, and wind magic
• Red hair that hangs to her knees when it’s down, normal peach colored skin, green eyes lighter than Char’s, white wings with brown streaks throughout them
• In her mid-sixties but angels live several thousand years and are capable of producing children for the first three hundred
• Sweet and kind but also stern and traditional
Theodemar Alfinas Keanan – Char’s father
• Full elf who is capable of small feats of nature magic, but nothing compared to angels. He can help plants grow faster, prevent weeds from growing and direct roots to specific paths so they don’t interfere with each other.
• Elves live a couple hundred years
• Forest green skin, grey eyes like a storm cloud, brown hair that is curly and brushes his shoulders by his own choice
• In his mid-forties
• Stoic and quiet most of the time but friendly, warm, and incredibly soft spoken
Anaphiel Tyldee Isadris Keanan – Char’s younger sister
• The second oldest Keanan child
• Half angel half elf
• She is 16 years old
• She is rambunctious, playful and loves to play pranks
• Her skin is a darker shade of green, but it goes well with her dark brown wings that had soft pale pink spots scattered on them, white hair that just barely hangs past her mid back, stark yellow eyes that are the color of the planets two suns
• She is going to be proficient in lighting magic to no one’s surprise. Char will be allowed to tell her about the cool new things she will get to experience at the academy. Lighting magic Nephilim and angels are harnessing it to create electricity. By the end of book one it will be starting to be implemented throughout the continent
Myrin Anlith Alfinas Keanan – Char’s younger brother
• The third oldest Keanan child
• Half angel half elf
• He is 13 years old
• His skin is deep forest green which also paired well with his sandy colored wings with other colors to them that make them look like sand, blue eyes the color of a clear summer sky, brown hair that is curly but short
Ellie Gisellessa Isadris Keanan – Char’s younger sister
• Fourth oldest Keanan child
• Half angel half elf
• She is eight years old
• Her skin is a light pink like Char’s, but her wings were a stark contrasting black, green eyes that are the same color as Char and their Dad’s, red hair that brushes just past her shoulders and is curly
Elmon Fredwin Alfinas Keanan – Char’s youngest brother
• Youngest Keanan child
• Half angel half elf
• He is three years old
• His skin is a normal tan color like their mom’s, but his wings are the same green as their dad’s skin color, grey eyes the same color as steel, brown hair that is straight like their mom’s and still being maintained by their mom
Right now these are all of the characters I have written out but I'm probably going to create more characters tonight and give more details to some of the characters I have already written about so far.
If anyone feels inspired to create art for some reason then please DM me or send me an ask first

Tumblr media
SUMMARY — you and bang chan are both equally as stressed out. your solution?  sleep with each other. boom, problem solved.
Tumblr media
PAIRING — bang chan  x  reader  WARNINGS — mentions of stress and mental health problems, unprotected sex, soft!dom chan, mentions of kinks, really soft, really cute smut basically, crying (not sexually), sad thoughts, angry and frustrated emotions, angsty GENRE — heavy angst, fwb, coming-of-age kind of, smut, romance, porn with a hint of plot WORD COUNT — 4.9k, i got carried away my bad
Tumblr media
“How do you deal with stress?”
Chan’s question wasn’t ill intentioned by any means, and as you both sat in his studio, you pondered on whether or not to actually answer truthfully. “I mean, you’re the leader of two more trainees than I was, and navigating as a girlgroup is much more difficult than boygroups,”
“Do you want the honest answer, or the more appropriate answer?” you crossed your legs, Chan’s couch feeling quite comfortable. He stared down at you for a moment, the height of his chair offering him that leverage.
The room was quiet, the lights were dim, and the entire environment was soothing. “Well, honest, of course. No point in me asking if it’s a fib, no?”
You nodded, blowing a puff of air out of your nose thoughtfully. “Truthfully, I use sex. It allows me to physically and mentally drain myself, and I sleep really well after getting fucked. It allows me to refresh the next morning, and my stress, at least physically, is diminished.”
You didn’t look at him until you finished talking, and his face was blank. Once you two locked eyes, he sputtered out, “Oh, I—”
“This is why I offered two options, Chan,” you laughed, and at the lighten of atmosphere he giggled a bit too. “I didn’t mean to, y’know,” he stopped, and you nodded lightly. “I get it, but as of now I don’t do it much anymore. I usually just let out my anger or stress during dance routines or working out but it doesn’t work the same, and sometimes I deliver moves too harshly while dancing.”
“Why not?”
You were unsure what he was referring to, and you crinkled your eyebrows. “How come you don’t do it anymore if nothing else helps the same way?” he asked softly, his eyes swimming with genuine concern.
“I’m a lot more conservative with my body, I just have to trust someone. It’s hard to get to know a guy without them immediately wanting to jump into a relationship. You can’t really do that in what we do, and the second I start to trust a guy things go haywire. I just really have to have a good friendship to have sex, I guess.”
The entirety of the conversation, Chan’s cheeks were turning peach. Even in the dark, dim light, you could see it. “I understand, it’s a very tangible thing. Just giving yourself to someone like that without a basic relationship, platonic or not, is important depending on how you view relationships,”
You nodded in response, and a silence fell over you two. There wasn’t much to be said, but for some reason you decided to blurt out. “If you don’t know how to deplete stress, I suggest it. Just the no strings attached part, because otherwise things get messy and stress becomes inevitable. Just try it sometime, Chan. If you don’t like it, then consider it a learning experience,” you shrugged, and Chan pursed his lips.
“I mean it doesn’t sound like a bad idea, per se. I just don’t know how I’ll casually ask someone to have sex. Most women just run off the moment I mention it, and who knows if they’re even into the same things I am? There’s just so many things to be unsure of.” His chin was now laying on his thumb, and his pointer finger was laying above his top lip. He was deep in thought.
You stood up, which cause Chan to unexpectedly flinch, and he watched you with careful eyes. “Chris, if you ever feel like you need a de-stresser, you know where to find me. Nothing will be weird unless you make it weird. Or we can always just talk, either way, I’m here. I have to go before Sumna comes and drags me out of here, but seriously. Whatever you need, no strings attached. Nothing leaves this room,” you mentioned softly, and his eyes widened at his English name. It’s rather rare you used it, so he pondered the specific use of it in this scenario.
“Thank you,” he muttered simply, and he watched you as you walked out. Was she being serious?
Tumblr media
Chan and you had not talked in a few days. Whether it was a crazy schedule, you embarassing yourself, or him not knowing how to approach the situation, you didn’t know. All you did know was that you missed your friend.
You and your bandmates had a hectic schedule today, and as the leader, you’d had to sit in on a meeting with your manager and JYP’s public relations manager. Apparently, Dispatch had caught one of your members, Lanzi, out doing something with another k-pop idol. Dispatch had only obtained two pictures of it, but it was clearly legible on who they were, and what they were doing.
The cost to get those pictures thrown out was much more than JYP would have liked, so she had to sit and get chewed out. Instead of being angry at Lanzi, she became more angry at herself. She had talked to them about things of this sort, but clearly not well enough. It was her job as leader, and she failed doing so.
After a three hour long meeting, you were absolutely exhausted, mentally at least. And now, just after that, was choreography practice. You’d just learned the choreo a few days before, so for the most part you had it down. As lead dancer, you also had to make sure everyone else in your group understood that too.
So, thirty minutes into practice, when none of your members seemed to be latching on, you sighed. Your entire job was to simply lead, and do well. Somehow, you couldn’t manage to do that. Once more, you started the choreography, and told your girls to simply stand back and watch.
You had a slight tone, but you needed them to understand that rhythm is just as important as the real dance moves. Your entire body was covered in sweat, and you were growing more frustrated by the minute.
The way your body moved was no longer elegant, just harsh, angry strokes of somewhat rhythmic actions. You did your best to do it just as you were shown, but the overwhelming anger and emotion in your body was just more than you could handle.
Little did you know, next to your bandmates, stood Hyunjin and Chan. They had come to ask something, but instead found you dancing your angered heart out. All stopped and stared, and Chan could only focus on the way your hips contorted, the patterns your hips followed.
As the music stopped, you turned around, and your eyes widened at the visitors.
“We can leave if you’re busy, Hyunjin-ah just wanted to ask if he could borrow the studio tomorrow, and I wanted a word with you, if that’s okay,” Chan asked, and all of your bandmates went silent, expecting you to take the lead of the conversation.
“Hyunjin-sunbaenim, the studio is yours whenever you need it. Let me know what time, and Chan-oppa, would you like to talk now?”
Hyunjin bowed, and gave a quick thank you before heading out of the room. “Yes, please. If you’re too busy, no worries,” and you looked at your girls and told them to head back to the dorm. You were done for today, no reason to beat a dead horse when clearly today was not a good one to get skills in.
“Can we talk in my studio?” Chan came closer to you, almost a whisper, and you knew this was going to go one of two ways: he was going to fuck your brains out, or he was going to let you know that he did not think of you in that way, and to please never discuss things like that with him again. You don’t think you could handle either, at least not today.
“Yeah, let me grab some other clothes,” you said softly, rubbing your forehead in anxiety. Chan quickly started to mention something, and you shut him up quick. “I don’t—”
“Chan, I’m getting new clothes because I am sweaty and tired, nothing else. I will meet you in your studio after I am changed,” you sighed, your hot knees feeling good against the cool floor of the choreography studio. Your duffle bag now wide open, you grabbed an oversized long sleeve shirt and a pair of loose jeans.
You also reapplied deodorant and some perfume so you didn’t smell like you lived in a sewer, the amount
As your girls were long gone, you felt free to change in the studio. Your clothes quickly fell to the floor, and you were now in more comfortable apparel that is not drenched in sweat. Dreading this conversation with Chan, you swiftly collected your things and moved them to the corner to come collect after you spoke to Chan and was ready to go home.
Guiding your way to Chan’s studio was a walk in the park. The amount of times you’d go in there to talk to him, or for him to let you hear what he’d been working on, was countless. You two had budded a beautiful friendship, and he had been somewhat of a rock. He had always been so sweet, so loving. And you’ve possibly ruined it because you couldn’t think of anything other than sex when trying to guide him through dealing with stress.
Your eyes almost welled at the thought. You couldn’t cry though, not now. So, as you stood outside of Chan’s recording studio, you held your breath for a moment and looked up, letting the tears vanish.
A soft knock sounded, your knuckles rasping at the door. The hallways were silent, and you couldn’t hear a single thing from inside Chan’s studio. Your own heartbeat pounded in your ears, and you tensed as you heard footsteps leading up to his door.
He opened the door, his face showing no clear emotions. He didn’t seem angry, but he wasn’t too happy to see you, either. His hair was clearly ran through by his hand, blonde tufts falling back towards his ears. His makeup was done to perfection, light brown tones covering his lids.
He wore a simple outfit, a loose black hoodie and dark blue sweatpants. He’d changed from earlier, his black ripped jeans now nowhere to be seen. “Come in, you can sit anywhere,” his voice was always soft, even though he could be fuming, his tone would never soar.
“Chan, I just want to say I’m sorry,” you muffled out, plopping down unconventionally on his couch. “I just, I don’t know why I said those things or did that,” at this point, you just didn’t want him to think differently of you. He was the closest thing you had to a mentor, and he was an amazing friend.
If you lost him, or ruined your relationship, you don’t think you could ever forgive yourself.
You pulled your knees up to your chest as he took a seat in his chair, staring expectedly at you. Silence followed, so you continued, unsure of what he was expecting to hear. “I just don’t like you being stressed, and the only way I know how to cope with things is kind of like that, so I figured maybe you could too, and then I offered, and I feel like I just fucked things up between us. I.. just I’m so sorry.”
At this point your eyes had clouded up, and your voice had cracked multiple times. The day you’d had just piled up, and your exhaustion was visible. Chan’s eyes immediately softened, and he felt bad. He wasn’t mad, he just didn’t know how to approach the situation.
“Hey, hey,” he soothed, and he stood up from his chair and joined you on the couch. At this point, you’d started full on crying. “I ruined our friendship, and now I’m sitting here crying so you’re gonna feel too bad to be honest with me about what I did wrong,” you were now sniffling hard, and your chest was dense you were surprised you could breathe.
“No, love, that’s not it, I promise,” your heart pumped blood a bit harder at his nickname for you, and he placed a warm hand on your back. “I came here to ask if you were okay,” his tone was now nothing but soft and supportive, and he continuously rubbed your back. Warmth spread throughout your entire body.
“I heard about the meeting, and everyone kept discussing how stressed out you were today,” in the dim light once more, his eyes glowed. They were so soft, so sweet. His entire aura was just warm, loving, and nothing was more assuring.
“No matter what happens between us, you’re my friend, and I care about you,” he smiled softly, “Nothing would change that, unless you like, stabbed me or something,” he laughed soulfully, and you laughed with him. He pulled you closer to him, your head now leaning on his shoulder.
“Thank you, Chan. I just didn’t know what to do, and today has been really shitty,” you smiled, and let your head fall even closer to his chest. His thumbs ran circles around your back, and he held you close. “It’s okay, I understand. Trust me,” a warm silence encased the entire room, and as Chan now cuddled you warmly, your face was now red at the reality of the situation.
“Do you feel a bit better?”
“Yeah, I just needed someone to remind me of how things are and to keep me grounded,” you sighed, and Chan’s thumb was now no longer rubbing your back. His hand had stilled, and all you could hear was the heartbeat from inside Chan’s chest. He was so broad, and the expanse of his torso provided a very comfortable pillow.
“I wasn’t offended, or taken back or anything when you offered, you know that, right?” Chan spoke out of nowhere, the rumbling of his chest vibrating intensely. “I wouldn’t have known, I tried my best to ignore you in case you never wanted to speak to me again,”
A small laugh came out of Chan, and his chest pushed your head a bit. “No, in fact, I think I’ve thought about it a little too much.”
You pushed your head off of him at this point, and resuming your position before he sat on the couch. You pulled your knees back up to your chest, and looked at him. “Really?”
“You said you wanted to have sex with someone you trust, and I feel the same way. It’s really hard to come by good people with good intentions, and you also happen to be beyond gorgeous. Why would I not want to?”
With cheeks now flushed red, you giggled. School-girl giggled, specifically. You had no idea how to take this compliment, but then the realization hit you. Christopher Bang just said he wants to fuck you.
His face also turned a deep scarlet, and he looked down, waiting for a reaction. “Mr. Bang, the things you say. So scandalous,” you both laughed lightly, and you hummed in response to the silence. “If we decide to ever do something, it’s important we talk about it first,” you mentioned, and now the conversation went from light-hearted to a bit more serious.
 “Of course, but in what way?”
“I don’t know, what kinds of things do you like? I can’t promise I can pertain to everything, but there’s no harm in trying. Especially if it happens more than once,” you clutched your legs, and Chan leaned forward a bit, his elbows on his knees as he stared ahead.
“Uh, well,” he laughed, and covered his hands with his face. This was the Chan you liked, who could make any situation, no matter how dark, seem light and easy-going. “It’s not really,” he started, beginning to look at you, then stopping himself, “I don’t know. I never usually talk about it like this,”
“Well, how about this: I tell you what I like, and you tell me what you’re willing to do. Just because I like it does not mean you have to do it, but if you enjoy it too, its mutual pleasure, yeah?”
Chan simply nodded, now mesmerized by you. His face completely tracked yours, and you sighed. “I have always loved your hands. I really, really like if you’d put them around my neck, if you would ever feel so kind. I really love being praised, I love being called a good girl, things like that. My favorite foreplay is just making out, I’m just a big softie, but I can take rough if that’s what you like. I’m a big pleaser, and I want to make sure you’re taken care of and get some pleasure out of this,”
Chan nodded once more, and his fingers instinctively wrapped themselves around his rings, twisting and turning. “Your turn, Channie,” you smirked, and he leaned back, a smile crowning his face.
“Well, I really like being soft and intimate, I like any position, bonus points if I see your face,” he smiled, his cheeks burning scarlet. He clearly did not talk about these things often, moreso just played them out in the midst of a high and never spoke of it again. But he and you both knew how important communication was, so he continued.
“I have played around with being called Daddy, but I’m not sure, and if you’re not comfortable with it—”
“If I am that uncomfortable with something, I promise I’ll tell you. Besides, that’s really cute. Rolls right off the tongue, right Daddy?”
He visibily shivered, and you smiled. “I—uh, I like if you’d run your fingers through my hair, not too hard, but like soothingly, kind of? If that makes sense. I also like it if you’d verbalise when you’re, uh—”
You knew where he was going, so you leaned close to his ear and finished his sentence for him. “Gonna cum? Oh, it would be rude not to,” you laughed gently, and you saw the last of Chan’s patience snap like a rubber band.
His hands grabbed your face sternly, yet somehow gently. “Do you want this?” he asked, the lust obvious on his face. Despite any previous conversation, he needed verbal consent to continue, and it would make him feel most okay with doing this.
“Yes,”
The room was now silent, anticipation filling your entire body. You’d come in here crying, and you couldn’t help but hope you’d leave the same way; just a different type of crying.
He pushed you so your back was now flush against the couch, the headrest leaning your upper torso closer to him. “Tell me to stop, and I promise I will, alright? The second you tell me to,” he was now looking you dead in the eyes, above you. Your legs were spread open, and his entire body was in the valley of your abdomen. Both of his arms were on either side of you, perching himself up.
“Chris, just kiss me already,” you whined, and he laughed wholeheartedly, before dipping in. The first kiss was hesitant, exploring new territory. His lips tasted like vanilla chapstick, and the first few were light pecks. It took only a second before he took the initiative and added his tongue to the mixture.
You rarely ever used tongue, most of your hookups barely even kissed, which is why none of them compared. Kissing was your weak point, it was a vulnerability. And Chan did not abuse that power once.
“Is this okay?” he mumbled against your mouth, your exchanging saliva now making more than your mouth lubricated. “Fuck, yes,” you moaned out, the amount of times he would kiss you now making you weak.
His hands dragged softly, and held themselves at your jaw, a classic sweetheart. His thumb was against your cheek so softly, the pads gracefully rubbing across the expanse of your cheekbone.
Everything about this was so domestic, so warm. His kisses were so soft, and full of love. There was no rush, no push to go any farther had you or him decided not to. His warm hands on your face made you purr on the inside, and when he pulled away, he had looked more beautiful than ever.
You had no intention of mentioning the wetness that had gathered between your legs, until Chan was staring at you, and momentarily his eyes widened. “Shit,” he cursed, looking around rapidly. “We don’t have a condom. I’m clean and everything, but we don’t have to continue if you don’t feel comfortable,”
“I have an implant, and I’m clean too. I just want you, if you want me too.”
Chan had no other qualms about it, and he attacked your face in sloppy kisses. “Here, can we switch positions, my arm is hurting?” he asked awkwardly, and you laughed with your entire chest. It was a normal question, but the way he asked so ashamedly, as if it was something terrible.
“Sit up straight, let me get on your lap,” you said softly, and he did as he was told. It was only then that you saw the bulge in his sweatpants, and you forgot that he actually had a male appendage, and from the looks of it, he was either girthy or long. Or both.
As long as he knew how to use it, you’d be fine.
He grabbed you by your hand to help maneuver you, and now your entire weight was on top of Chan. As you finally sat your hips down, he groaned. “Oh god,”
You took his face in your hands, and started kissing him again. At this point, you didn’t want him to be respectful anymore. His hands did not waver from your face, and so you took it into your own hands. Grabbing them both, so soft and calloused, and placed them as discreetly as you could, onto your hips. Moreso your ass, but Chan didn’t know your intentions.
His hands pushed your hips forward, now rutting against his hard on. His lips and yours were now in a frenzy, drenching each other. It was still pretty slow, nothing fast paced, just more intense.
He broke the kiss, and his hands now edged at the bottom of your shirt. “Can I take this off?” he asked, breathless. His lips were now swollen and puffy, and his pupils were blown wide.
You nodded softly, no words needed to be said. He quickly hauled the oversize shirt above your head, and groaned harshly when he realized you had no bra on. His first instinct was to latch his mouth onto your nipples, sucking softly. A moan left your mouth, and with nothing to hold onto anymore, your hands found his hair.
Still rocking back and forth, your panties were probably soaked at that point. So much foreplay had you almost throbbing, and you couldn’t wait much longer to have him inside you.
“Chan, please,” you moaned out, and he bit down on your nipple gently. “Only since you asked so nicely,” he added, and he told you to stand up. You did so, easily willingly, yet you loved the way he spoke to you.
It was almost a request, a plea. There was no power imbalance here, simply one trying to find another. He was so gentle, in everything he did. You wanted to drown in that feeling.
He pulled your jeans off without a hitch, and eyed your lace panties hungrily, slightly thankful you’d changed earlier this evening. His fingers grasped the sides, pulling them down your legs. You were now completely bare, and he was fully dressed. This was a problem.
“Not fair, your turn,” you pouted, and his eyes were fixated on your naked body. It felt odd, having him see you like this, but you couldn’t complain. Your arousal was now tainting your inner thighs, and Chan could probably see it too.
He rid himself of his hoodie and his shirt at the same time, and you finally got a full view of him shirtless. This man was absolutely ripped, and you had to hold in a gasp. His arms were lined in protruding veins, and his abs were impeccable. You worked out, but not in your wildest dreams would you ever be able to maintain that nice of a physique.
It wasn’t until he pulled off his pants, and painstakingly after, he patiently pulled his boxers off. God, did he have a pretty cock. A bit longer than average, slightly girthy, and it made your mouth water just thinking about it.
Your first instinct was to pop down onto your knees, but as you were on your way down, Chan grabbed you by the arm. “Not this time, please, I need you,” he whined out, almost painfully.
As you were on top of his lap, you were careful not to let him inside you yet. You figured he could decide when to do it, and you squealed when he let one hand slide from your face, down to your throat. His fingers, covered in rings, squeezed gently. He coaxed another moan from you as he let his fingers glide down the valley of your body, and found itself on your clit.
His movements were slow, but intense. His fingers glided over your folds, picking up some of your arousal, and placed all of his attention onto your little nub. Small pinprick moans escaped your mouth, and you began to tilt your hips in an attempt to get more friction. “Fuck, you’re so wet,”
Some noise semblant to a mew tried to leave your mouth, but his fingers tangled themselves around your neck further, leaving the sound trapped in your throat. “Are you ready? Or do we need to get you a bit more warmed up?” he asked softly, his mouth now next to you ear. His voice was dark, and husky.
“God, I just need you inside me,” you whined, and his hand let up on your neck, and he grabbed his cock harshly. He pumped it a few times, and spread your lips, and lined you up.
“Beg,” he said simply, and even if you tried to sink down, he now placed a hand on top of your hips harshly. You couldn’t move even if you wanted to. “W—what?” you asked, breathless.
“Beg, I want to hear you beg for me to fuck you,” he repeated himself, and looked down at you mischeviously. You two were face to face, and his cock was still in his hands, and your lips spread wide open for him to see. “Fuck, please,” you whined, and to no avail, he didn’t budge, “please, daddy, I just wanna feel good,”
As soon as the name sounded from your mouth, he pushed inside of you. The stretch was amazing, it was slightly painful, but it felt like nothing on this earth could amount. His entire cock filled you out nicely, and the lewd sound of him smacking against you was filling the room.
His hands laid at your hips now, piling into you like his life depended on it. His balls were smacking against your ass, and the harsh thrusts stimulated your clit. Everything was so intense, the way he filled you so deeply, you could feel him in places you didn’t know he could reach, and you felt like you’d burst apart the seams.
Shameless moans spilled from your mouth, and Chan was in your ear, grunting like a man starved. “Such a good girl, fuck, for me,” his groans were so animalistic, and the way his hands would hold you steady.
His fingers traveled down to toy with your clit, and he never stopped fucking you. Your fingers started to tangle within his hair, and his lips attached themselves to your neck, sucking, finding anything to latch onto.
The second his fingers started rubbing your clit numbly, you knew that you were going to cum soon. Everything he did just felt so good, you were just a hole the second he started fucking you.
“I—I’m gonna, I’m gonna cum,” you breathed out heavily, and your legs started shaking. “Please, can I—please cum?”
“Yes, cum for me,” he breathed out in a husky tone, and it wasn’t long until you felt your thighs start to involuntarily shake, and the feeling inside your abdomen welling up. “I’m so—” you were cut off by your orgasm rushing over you, Chan’s fingers never stopped stimulating your clit.
You moaned out harshly, slumping towards him, unable to control yourself as one of the most harsh orgasms you’ve ever had washed over you. Your entire body started to seize, and you clenched around him harshly. He continued to fuck into you, sucking into your neck, and he starting fucking into you faster. He was definitely close, “Where-”
You cut him off, still under the shock of your orgasm, “inside me, please,” you begged, and he fucked into you once more, even harder. “Fuck, I’m gonna cum,”
He lived up to his promise, as less than a few seconds later, his warm cum spurted inside of you, and he still rutted his hips, begging for more friction. He stroked into you a few more times, now drained of energy. He placed a soft kiss onto your neck, and whispered, “Thank you.”
You got up, and put your shirt back on over yourself, and Chan pulled his boxers and sweatpants on once more. A thought rose over you on whether to leave or not, but you knew Chan would be a skinship type of guy. He would probably have a drop, and not be used to just casual hookups like this.
“Do you want me to stay?” you asked softly, and a large part of you hoped he would say yes.
“Please.”

Softly - PatB Fan Fiction
Type: Hurt/Comfort Rating: PG Summary: Baby Brain has known little but pain and misery in an unloving world, but when he gets paired up with a new lab student things change in a way he didn’t expect.
This started out as a mini story in a Discord server and got... a little out of hand. What you see here is how much I typed out in the server.
He hadn't been there long. Two... maybe three weeks? The cold metal had finally become familiar beneath his feet, and the strange blocks, though generally tasteless, kept him alive. There wasn't much that made his new living quarters interesting; there was only so much one could do in a pile of aspen shavings day after day. Occasionally, they would hook up to his cage some sort of liquid that wasn't his usual watery fair. He could never decipher or make heads or tails of the words on the sides of the bottles, saying things like D-D-T or S-N-I-P-P-L-E. The only distinguishing feature to him was that sometimes they tasted terrible, sometimes quite flavorful, and sometimes they tasted like nothing at all. Almost all of them turned his stomach. Driven to thirst, however, he'd play their cruel game. Choice was not something that existed in this crisp, sterile world; at least, not from a personal standpoint. When it did exist it meant the difference between a shock and a treat; a yellow light or a red light; a warm room or a cold one. Choice was manufactured.
He still cried almost every night. He tried to quiet the tears, but they didn't always listen. The others heard him. One or two laughed cynically. Most said nothing; they'd shed their own fair share and would again sooner than later. A single kind soul, a mother rat some doors down from him, occasionally whispered to him a lullaby or two when everyone else but them were asleep. They were songs she sang to her own children to quiet their tears, and she had no less compassion for this unfortunate soul, who was even worse off than her own brood -- he didn't even have any parents to nuzzle up to. Had she her way, she would have mutilated every last living human being in the facility. It was bad enough that they were tested on mercilessly as adults. To do so to children was simply insidious. Alas, she was simply a rat, and so could only dream of days when she wasn't.
Not that BR-41N (that's what they called him; no one had real names here) hadn't tried to be friendly with his captures. Aside from a particularly nasty poke from some long, thin, prickly object inserted into his thigh the first day (it had stung; oh, it had stung...) the proceeding couple of days had consisted of simple maze runs and treadmill exercises. Nothing too elaborate. As a child, he'd been used to running around a lot in the field, and sifting through the labyrinths reminded him of the long grass he'd play hide-and-seek in back home, except at the end of them was a tasty prize: a piece of cheese. He liked cheese. In the wild, it was hard to come by, but here they gave it to him generously, provided he finished the courses, which he always did. The fourth day followed in much the same way, but the fifth day brought something different: a sudden shock and a broken tail. That had changed his view of things. Perhaps the harsh awakening wouldn't have been so terrible had it not been followed by other unspeakable things -- poisoned food; friends made that, the next day, would never be seen again; more shocks given as punishment for choosing an incorrect panel; injections that made him see things he'd never seen, monsters and strange colors and other scary things that kept him awake at night; loud noises that came out of nowhere; and often, quite often, the terrifying echo of squeaks, barks, and meows that made up the daily music of Acme Laboratories. He hated it. He hated all of it. More than anything, he wanted to go home. He missed the warmth; the love; the soft whisper of the wind that traveled through his ivory fur. He wanted all of it back. But life? She was a harsh mistress. And no amount of crying, screaming, or pleading, seemed to ever make her turn an ear.
As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks... months, more than just a tail was broken. Trust was broken. Hope was broken. Spirit... was broken. If there was any love, if there was any future, it wasn't here. Kindness had proved unfruitful, and patience had run its course. He didn't find reason to be willing, nor show charity, towards those who made his life a living hell. What reason was there? What profit was in it? Time had told him, quite bluntly, there wasn't. It had taken him a full month to admit defeat, but admit it he did, and cynical he became, 'til every hand that reached in to grab him was ripe to be bitten, every shot that punctured his stomach was the unwelcome norm, and every newcomer that tried to strike up a friendship was easily ignored. The latter-most was simply wasting their time. He could read the colors on the cages now. He knew that a red mark meant "death". He only wondered why he, as of yet, had never been given one himself. It was as if life itself was laughing at him -- keeping him as witness to the horrors that went on inside the dragon's cave, yet never giving him the satisfaction of death.
And so the third month dawned, chilly and barren, or so the scientists said. Autumn had come. Not that any of the residents within the thick, cemented walls could see it. But the laboratory personnel spoke of it -- gold and crimson leaves, hot chocolate, dried wheat fields. He could almost smell the corn; could almost feel the breeze.... Days passed. For the first time, they gave him a cage mate. E8-WN, they called him. He was kind, but BR-41N had little love left to give. Besides, he had the red tag. It seemed they had only placed him here temporarily due to a lack of space. The next day he was taken to the back. The tiniest shred of pity nipped at BR-41N as he watched the little peach-furred mouse be carried into the surgical room, a curious look on his face. Another emotion was also present within him: jealousy. On the 17th day of September, a new thing happened -- a thing that, for the first time in a while, made the little mouse turn his head.
The school year had started, and, as such, fresh meat was welcomed into the laboratory in the form of fourteen college students looking to continue pursuits in medical science. They were all very quiet during the tour, one or two of them occasionally lifting a hand to ask a question about course materials or contact information. They were each, it seemed, to be given a subject: an animal from the laboratory to study, train, and conduct experiments on. Rats, mice, and hamsters had already been picked out for them, and each was given a black-coated subject or a brown-furred captive to take charge of. Each student's rodent was to be kept in the lab at all times, and specific instructions were given them as to the proper handling of the creatures. At least two experiments were to be conducted on them daily, three if possible. They could spend as much time with their charge as they wished, so long as they got their homework done. Fourteen students. Fourteen rodents. Four months to finish their work. Simple.
As it stood, however, there had been a miscalculation. Fourteen students. Fourteen rodents.... No. Not fourteen. Only thirteen. There'd been an error. They'd forgotten to set aside an extra subject. The unfortunate student without a charge was a college girl named Rachel. All other rodents were going through tests conducted by various personnel in the lab, set aside specifically for said conductions that couldn't currently be tampered with. All except one....
"So, um, Rachel," their teacher said, checking his student list. "You may have to share with... Peterson.... You know what? We might... actually have an extra for you. Hold on. Let me ask...."
And he departed into another room, calling for a "Jackson".
"Jackson! Can she use BR-41N? I don't think he's going through any rigorous testing.... Yeah? Okay. Yeah, that would work out perfectly. Thanks."
He turned back to his brood, many of whom looked quite eager to jump in to these intriguing studies, others looking downright bored.
"Okay. We have one for you. His code name is BR-41N. He's not going through any major testing, and he's generally given the usual works -- labyrinths, shock treatment, all that. But, um... he bites. Really bad. So... you'll have to watch it, all right?"
"Okay," Rachel nodded, looking a little nervous.
"All right. Umm.... Good. Yes. So, let's head back to the main campus, and... we'll start your work tomorrow."
And they left.
BR-41N had only heard part of all this, and had understood none of it. He shivered in his cage, taking a moment to drink some water out of the bottle that hung there. While the arrival of such a large group intrigued him, especially since it consisted of a much younger set than normal, it also made him nervous. Was it a sign of good things to come... or bad? Or just more of the usual fair? One could only wonder. For now, he was simply grateful that the cheese they'd given him today was, for once, not laced with drugs.
She came by on a Tuesday.
It was an hour after a cosmetics test that he heard a knock on the table. His skin still burned. He was cowering in a far corner, and looked back over his shoulder hesitantly.
Rachel stood there, smiling at him.
"Hello, little one." He stared at her, nonplussed. "I guess you're my charge. You gonna say hello?"
And she opened up the door of his cage.
He shuffled back further. He knew all too well by this point that the opening of a door meant one of two things: food or torture. Considering the fact that she didn't smell of food, he had to assume it was the latter.
"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. Well, hopefully not...."
Although he didn't understand a word of what she said, her tone was calm; soothing. No one in the lab ever talked to him like this. He couldn't help but stare curiously.
She held her hand up to the entrance and made a soft, squeak-like sound with her mouth. He frowned at her. As if that was going to convince him. He turned away.
"No? I don't blame you," she replied, taking a look at his clipboard. "BR-41N. What kind of a freak name is that? Mind if I call you Brain? Or Brian?"
No response.
"We'll go with Brian. Brain sounds kinda weird."
Brian it was.
She kept the door open, and he braced himself. Any moment now, gloved hands would be protruding into his enclosure to wrap themselves firmly about him, not tight enough to choke him, but secure enough that he couldn't escape. But the hand didn't come. If anything, she pulled up a chair, sat down, and rested her arms upon the table on which his cage sat. She was... giving him a choice? He stared at her, unsure how to react.
"Come on, sweet heart," she cooed, rubbing her fingers together encouragingly.
But he wouldn't budge. If this was some new trick, it wasn't going to work. He wished she'd just grab him and get it over with. Sooner or later, she'd have to. It was only a matter of time. And so he waited....
She sat there for a full twenty minutes, trying her best to get him to come over, but he refused to budge, and so she gave up. As expected, she still ran him through a maze, but instead of reaching in to grab him, she found a clear tube and scooped him up in it, covering both ends before depositing him into the run as such. It was... odd, but less invasive than what he was used to. He rather wished the others would do it that way.
Via the same method she returned him to his cage at the end of the test. As usual, he took to the corner, assuming his usual cowardly pose, but he turned to look at her as she spoke.
"Sorry about that. Nice job, though. See you tomorrow."
And so went the next day... and the next, always with the same introduction: She'd open his door, pull up a chair, and offer her hand to him. After twenty minutes of nothing, she'd scoop him up in the tube, deposit him in the maze or whatever other test he was to perform that day, and return him in the same manner. This went on for four whole weeks, always with a kind word, never coupled with a harsh prod or poking of his skin. He came to somewhat look forward to her almost daily visits, not because he trusted her (the one time she had tried touching him [with gloves on, of course], he'd given her a fair warning in the form of a bite), but because it was the only two hours during the day in which he knew he wouldn't be fed poison, given a shot, or made to inhale cigarette smoke. The other students joked with her. By far, she had the unfriendliest mouse out of all of them, and they found her kind advances a waste of time.
"Just pick him up!" a tall boy said.
Most of them had no problem with handling their subjects by the tail; at least, the boys generally didn't. The girls were kinder, but even they didn't take the time to get to know their animals intimately. They also were given the harder tests to conduct on their critters and so tried not to get attached.
Whereas most of the rats, mice, and hamsters given to the students would eventually be killed in some way or other at the end of the semester, via through vivisection, gassing, cancer, or some other method, BR-41N, or... Brian, as Rachel now called him, was not scheduled to be offed anytime soon and so could not undergo such rigorous experiments. As such, she got both the easy job of conducting very simple tests on him, and also the hard job of trying to work with the most hostile mouse in the entire facility.
"He's never gonna warm up to you," one of the other students said.
Rachel took it as a challenge.
"Watch me," she said.
But Brian was proving to be a much tougher can than expected. By the sixth week, he still hadn't even bothered to venture near the cage entrance when she sat near it, even with tasty treats in hand. He simply didn't trust anyone. Not anymore....
October came and went, to be replaced with a frosty November. Whenever Brian saw Rachel now she had a cup of tea in hand, the better to ward off the coming winter chill. Still she tried; still he refused to relent. Until the 9th....
It was late. She hadn't been able to get to the lab until 8:00 PM due to unfortunate series of events that involved a fender bender, two appointments, and a last minute essay. When she got to the lab she was tired... and not at all in the mood to deal with Brian's B.S., and he knew it.
"'Sup?" she asked him wearily, setting down her things in a huff. Only a handful of other people were still in the facility at this hour, none of them students. Fine by her. She preferred the quiet anyway. "We're gonna do something a little different today, bud."
Indeed.... He perked his ears up at her exhausted tone and the fact that, for once, she didn't open the cage door. But she did still slide the chair up to his table.
On the opposite side of the room was a television on a rolling stand. Normally, this was used for surgeries and other experiments. Once in a blue moon, however, someone would use it for recreational purposes -- to watch the local news when there was time to kill. Most fortunately for Rachel, it also came with a VHS player. Into it she popped a tape, before sitting down in the chair and grabbing her hot cup of peppermint tea. Despite himself, Brian took a whiff of the tea, whose scent had wafted into his cage and tickled his nose. It smelled good.
The film began to play. Brian didn't know the name of it, but whatever it was it was made up of very pretty pictures and featured a lot of dogs... and snow (at least at the beginning). It was rather soothing. Still, he didn't move from his spot, save to grab a lab block at one point to munch on, more to pass the time than anything. His stomach was still a little unsettled from earlier. Privately, he was a bit ticked off at the girl. Had she been a bit earlier he might have avoided the shock treatments. Not that they would have withheld them regardless.
It wasn't until the second song that his attention was at last caught.
"La la lu, La la lu, Oh my little star sweeper, I'll sweep the star dust for you...."
Sweetly did the animated woman sing her little song, and Brian, captivated, perked his ears. He looked up at the television. She was still singing. He stepped forward, bit by bit, until he was right up to the closed door, two little paws coming up to grasp at the bars of his cage as he stared, entranced, at the screen.
"La la lu, La la lu, And may love be your keeper, La la lu, La la lu, La la luuuuu."
And so it ended, all within the span of a minute, if that, but something had stirred with him -- a remembrance of home, and warmth, and what it was like to be loved.
He was still clutching at the bars when he noticed that Rachel was smiling at him, and he promptly sped back to his corner, embarrassed.
"Atta boy," she whispered, still grinning softly at him.
He refused to look at her. He wasn't touched by it or anything. He wasn't....
"It's okay. Don't be embarrassed," said the girl. "I like that song, too."
Brian stayed in his corner the rest of the movie, but the song never left his mind.
---
The next day proceeded as normal. Once again, Rachel sat by his cage. Once again, she had brought a treat, albeit one he'd never seen before, nor smelled, for that matter. It was small... and white... and fluffy, and it smelled sugary and sweet. He wanted it. Oh, he wanted it so very badly. But nothing that ever came from the fingers of a scientist, even a soft-spoken one, was innocent. And so he refused, his back turned to her.
"Stubborn butt," said Rachel, and by her tone alone Brian could tell that it was a snide comment. He ignored her.
"Here."
As had occurred many times before, she left the treat in his cage near the entrance, closed the door, and sat to watch him. His eyes shifted towards the treat. It sat there, staring at him, mocking him. Eat me, it said. No, he thought. Oh, but it smelled so good....
Rachel sighed. So did Brian. She rested her head in her arms, exasperated. Maybe it really wasn't worth it....
Brian licked his lips. Perhaps....
He took a step forward. Rachel remained where she was, head in her arms, not looking at him. He moved another step. She was still as a stone. Patter patter patter patter patter... GRAB. He swooped back to his corner as fast as possible, marshmallow in his mouth. Rachel looked up... and chuckled. Brian dug into the treat, enjoying every second of it as teeth sunk into the savory delight. He'd never tasted anything this good before. It was better than mother's milk; much better than lab pellets; better than cheese....
"Silly little thing," Rachel giggled, smiling as he filled his cheeks with pleasantness. "Wait 'til you see what I bring you tomorrow."
Tomorrow, he was to find out, brought a piece of a doughnut, and the day after that a waffle. He'd never been this darn spoiled before. On the fourth occasion, he was, for once, already at the door, waiting to see what she'd bring. Lady and the Tramp and sugar, it turned out, were the keys to his heart, although he still wouldn't let her touch him. If her hand so much as brushed his fur he was back to his corner in a rush, although, this time, he didn't try to bite her first.
Rachel laughed when she saw the two little paws clutching at the gated entrance.
"You like 'em that much, huh? Here ya' go."
He stepped back to allow her access to the gate, and watched carefully as she placed something savory and smelling of salt inside. He sniffed, investigating as she closed the door. He took a tentative bite. Mmmmm. Yes, this was acceptable. Grabbing it, he rushed back to his usual corner and chowed down.
"Good. A fellow bacon appreciator," Rachel nodded, satisfied.
He ate the entire piece, licking his lips and proceeding to clean himself afterwards. That had been a bit messy. Good, but messy. If there was something he still valued, it was cleanliness. He could at least retain some form of dignity. The state of his fur was one of the few things he still had control over. Unlike some of the other unfortunate chaps, he'd never had to endure surgery or a shaved stomach.
Two little pink ears perked up as his cage door was opened yet again. More treats? No. Just Rachel, hand offered to him once more. Brian sighed. She just wouldn't give up, would she?
A second glance made him aware that she did, in fact, have something in her hand -- another marshmallow. Hmph. Sneaky. And yet, he'd be lying if he said he didn't want it....
"It's okay, little one," Rachel cooed, hand still outstretched, that plump marshmallow beckoning ever so tantalizingly. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise."
Brian sighed. He looked down at the floor, then over at her hand.
Rachel's eyes widened a touch, but she otherwise didn't reveal her surprise as Brian moved forward, inch by inch, step by step, towards her hand....
He stopped at the entrance, debating. Dare he...? It was a risk. He'd never willing done this, not since he'd been captured. It was a stupid decision. Stupid. And yet....
Her hand shifted a touch, and Brian shifted nervously with it. Rachel waited with bated breath.
He stepped forward....
In a flash, he'd grabbed the 'mallow from her hand and retreated to the back of his cage, not daring to even think about what he'd just done. It was foolish. It was dangerous. And yet, she hadn't tried to grab him, or even pet him. She'd just... given him a choice. And he'd taken it. Somehow, for some reason, he'd taken it.
Rachel smiled.
"Atta boy."
---
Perhaps it was the mere fact, the tantalizing realization, that he had a choice in the first place, that drew him back, but over the course of the next few weeks, things changed.
It had started slow at first. A light brush of the whiskers here; a sniff of the hand there. But, eventually, Brian, of his own accord, stepped into her hand. And she didn't close her fingers about him harshly, or strangle him, or pick him up by the tail. She simply... let him be. It was kind. It was unobtrusive. It was respectful. And he appreciated it.
No longer did the other students make fun, or joke that she'd never gain his trust. If anything, they questioned her.
"How the heck did you do it?" they'd ask, curious.
Even more confused were the scientists themselves. Not that anyone had tried very hard to gain the little mouse's trust. He was, in their opinion, not worth the time.
But he was to Rachel.
December came, and with it a complete turn-around in Brian's behavior, albeit towards one particular individual.
He eagerly rushed into her hand now. No need for the transportation tube. She could carry him on her shoulder to the maze area and pick him up with her bare hands as she placed him in the labyrinth, although she still made sure to let him take the first step and would, more often than not, simply offer a hand instead of plucking him from her shoulder. He still appreciated this.
Every weekday was now a day to look forward to. Sure, he was still tormented by the main personnel, but for two or three hours, two or three sweet hours, he didn't have to worry about anything. On the days he suffered from a stomach-ache, she'd hold him close to her chest and do her best to rub the pain away, offering him tea to ease his suffering, and if he fell asleep on her shoulder and woke up, shaking, from a bad dream, she'd rock him back and forth, singing "La La Lu" to him until the nightmares went away. On those rare nights, when she could only work late and no one was around, she'd bottle feed him. He'd been hesitant (and a little embarrassed) at first, but any reminder of home was difficult to ignore, and so he ended up embracing each form of love and affection with open paws, clutching tightly to her chest some days, as if this hug would be his last. For all he knew, it could be. He'd gotten used to her visits, but what if she left and never came back? He didn't want that love to leave....
December 14th.
The end of the semester was approaching. Rachel had told him, time and again, that she was leaving soon; that she would miss him; that she'd try to come back for the next semester. Brian understood none of this. He was a mouse, after all. Human language was foreign to him. The most he could understand was the occasional word -- his name, Brian, and various names of foods and tests -- and basic inflections that he knew signified concern, happiness, or contentment. But he didn't understand "leave", or "semester", or "miss". He could tell something was wrong, that she was sad, but as to why, he did not know.
A week from the last day of the semester, she brought a surprise: a movie. It had something to do with a rat, and food. He liked it for those things. He wished he could understand the words. It seemed interesting. He sat on Rachel's shoulder the entire time, at least until the end of the film, during which Rachel offered her hand to him. He accepted. She brought him up to her chest, nuzzling him close.
"I'm going away for a while, but... I'll try to be back next semester."
She petted him gently. He stared up at her, curious and concerned. Why was she so sad?
"I'm going to miss you...," she whispered. And, for the first time, she kissed him on his fuzzy white head. "I love you...."
He didn't understand the words, but he understood what they meant; how they felt.
Slowly, gently, he nuzzled close to her... and licked her fingers. It was the first time he'd shown genuine affection outside of nuzzling since he'd been captured. I love you, too....
He didn't understand it, but... there was something in the air that told him something big was coming. Something new. Something was going to be different....
December 18th came just like any other day. The semester was coming to a close. Many students had already finished their courses and gone home for the holidays. The occasional class still lingered on, including the medical science class. Most all had completed training and experimentation on their subjects for the season and were simply spending the next few days filing reports and filling out last minute essays. Some of the rodents wouldn't live to see the new year. Others had already been subjected to vivisection by their handlers and were far from the lab by this point. Subject BR-41N was one of the few who'd been given the same sheet on their clipboard day after day, week after week: a run of the mill of the usual, simple, non-invasive tests, along with an injection or two. But today was different.
As Rachel stepped up to Brian's cage, sipping at a hot cup of tea and smiling as her charge ran up to the bars to greet her, she frowned as she pulled up the clip board. His tag was yellow. Not the usual blue, but... yellow. She set down her cup, ignoring Brian's squeaky pleas to be let out as she looked over the sheet carefully.
Subject Reserved for Project B.R.A.I.N. // Invasive Study -- Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience Psychology // 4:00 PM - Dec. 20
There was a pause, in which the dip in Rachel's brow furrowed ever deeper, her eyes roaming about the page scrutinizingly, before she slipped the paper out of its holder and headed back out the way she'd came, Brian looking curiously after her.
She marched all the way to a back office, in which sat one of the laboratory heads: Jackson. He looked up over his square-rimmed glasses as she knocked upon the exposed inner door frame.
"Yes?" he asked, sounding bored.
"Hey. Um.... I think you gave my subject the wrong paper."
"BR-41N?"
"Yeah. He got a yellow."
She stretched out her arm, offering the paper as proof, but he didn't take it. Instead, he looked up at her, fingers meeting at their tips, and said:
"No, I gave you the right paper. That's for BR-41N. His procedure is in two days."
His tone was flat and laced with a thin layer of poison, as if her daring to question him was a challenge.
"But... I thought he was just doing mainly labyrinth tests."
"Ms. Field, I thought you were told...?"
"Told what...?"
"He's been scheduled for this procedure for months. We wanted him fresh and so have eschewed more invasive tests until now. Frankly, you've been spending a little too much time with that mouse. He's gotten too friendly. We're not in the business of developing attachment here."
He said all this with a straight face, completely emotionless. Rachel swallowed thickly.
"Sir, I've... been going over this test. It's... very dangerous."
"Yes."
"It could kill him...."
"Yes?"
Rachel simply stared at him, uncertain of what to say next. He wasn't working with her here....
"Look.... What did you expect? You're studying medical science, correct?"
She nodded.
"Okay, well," he continued, a small chuckle of sarcasm escaping his lips as he said it. "Y-You have to realize that... this is a laboratory. We can't keep every subject. And these tests come with a lot of risks."
"Could you possibly do the test on another subject...?" Rachel asked, choosing her words carefully. "Brian is still kind of young, and..."
"Brian?"
Shoot.
"Sorry, I mean... BR-41N."
"You can't start... naming them, Miss Field. That's when you start getting attached. Understand?"
"I know...," Rachel mumbled, cheeks reddening as she looked down at her shoes.
"And the whole point of using him at this age is because his mind is younger. He's fresh."
"But he's just a baby..."
"Yes? And? A lot of the other students are working with infants."
"This one is...," Rachel began, than stopped. Already she'd said too much.
"Miss Field, if you don't prepare him for the procedure, someone else will. Now, you can either do your assignment or lose your credits. It's your choice."
Rachel sighed. Still holding the paper, she let her arm fall dramatically to her side.
"Fine...."
And she turned to walk off. But...
"Miss Field?"
She looked at him.
"Don't do anything stupid."
"Yes, Sir," Rachel replied, after a hefty pause, and headed back to her charge.
---
Brian didn't understand why Rachel was so quiet that day, nor why she cuddled him so much. She whispered to him something about "breaking out" and "night", but he didn't understand what those things meant, although he heard the urgency in her voice. As a result, he was a little more uptight the rest of the afternoon.
Before leaving, Rachel kissed the top of his head again, before setting him back down in the cage and hooking the door. Her good-byes were all but gibberish to him, although he recognized the word "tomorrow". So he'd be seeing her tomorrow. That was good. At least he had a time frame. He was naive to the rest....
---
December 19th 9:15 PM
BR-41N cleaned his whiskers, pondering.
She hadn't shown up today. Strange. "Tomorrow". She's said "tomorrow". Today was tomorrow. Why hadn't she come?
To his left, in a far corner of the room, someone sneezed in their cage. Brian frowned sadly. It was that hamster again. Whatever they'd given him had put him into a sneezing fit for an hour. Now and then he relapsed.
He yawned, stretched, and made for the food dispenser, when he suddenly heard a sharp click of a door being opened and abruptly snapped shut. He turned in the direction of the door. A light flicked on. Brian smiled.
Rachel's feet slid across the floor in haste. Instead of her usual student lab coat, she was decked out in her normal clothes, complete with backpack. Her hoodie was up, obscuring her hair, save for a few strands that stuck out here and there, as well as part of her face. She moved with purpose, albeit a little covertly, looking over her shoulder every now and then, as if expecting someone to grab her at any minute.
Set in a wall above the entrance to the room, a camera followed her. Rachel's eyes shifted at the sound as she moved towards Brian's cage. She knew she only had five, maybe ten, minutes at best.
Opening the cage door, she held her hand out for Brian to step onto. He hesitated. Something didn't smell right....
"Come on. We're busting you out of here, dude," Rachel whispered.
Brian cocked his head at her questioningly.
"Listen, they're going to put your through that splicer if we don't get you out of here, so come on."
There was an urgency in her voice that, despite his misgivings, compelled him to move forward. He trusted her too much by this point.
"Atta boy," she praised him, tucking him in her shirt pocket.
He peeked out, paws clutching at the edges of the pocket interestedly.
"Let's go," Rachel whispered, turning back to the door and stopping as she realized that someone was already standing there....
Framed in the metal doorway was a woman, thirty-five... maybe forty-something in age. Her arms were crossed, and the expression on her face seemed as taught and firm as the scrunchie tightening her poofy auburn hair. Her long lab coat was still settling; she must have only just gotten there. Rachel recognized this woman. Lana, her name was -- she was one of the head managers at the facility. Jackson had obviously tipped her off.
"Fancied a night stroll?" she asked, tone dripping with sarcasm.
Rachel remained frozen in place, a hand subconsciously cupping her shirt pocket. The gesture didn't go unnoticed.
"You know you're risking a lot for this. That's all your credits down the drain."
"He's worth it," Rachel answered, resolute.
"He's not. You take him and they'll just get another subject."
"At least I'll have saved this one."
"We'd still rather you not take an asset that's been reserved for months for this procedure," Lana nipped, taking a step forward.
Rachel took a step back. Her eyes shifted to a door to her left. It led to several other testing rooms and then back out into the main hallway. Some of the doors had security locks. It was the long way around, but if she was fast enough....
"Rachel...," Lana spoke, tone threatening as she advanced. "Put him down."
With each step Lana took towards her, Rachel moved two back. She could feel herself starting to perspire. Gosh, this was a stupid idea....
"Rachel...."
With a hand cupped over her shirt pocket, Rachel darted in the direction of the door, opening it up in a flash and slamming it shut behind her. Already she was racing for the opposite end of the room, where another door stood.
Brian jumped as an alarm went off, followed by red lights that flashed all throughout the facility. Rachel was already in the next room, her heart racing. She could hear the panicked footsteps behind her, mimicking her own, and hoped upon hope that she was faster than her pursuer.
Rachel picked up her pace as she entered the next room. This one, she knew, required an employee badge to open. All of the students had been given security badges, of course, primarily for general access to the entrance and main rooms. They worked on some doors in the facility. Some, but not all. She'd never been in these rooms. Privately, she prayed that they'd open for her.
Slamming her badge up against a wall panel, she bounced up and down on the balls of her feet nervously.
"Come on. Come oooon! Take it!!"
It did. The door unlocked, and she swung it open in haste to make for the next locked door, which also granted her entrance.
She was faster than Lana, but it didn't mean the woman wasn't hot on her heels. Brian shut his eyes tightly, huddling against Rachel's chest on the inside of her pocket as she darted about, her hand still cupping him securely. He knew, somehow, that this was about him. His ears rotated this way and that at the duo of clicking feet racing down the linoleum flooring. Who would win? Who was he most valuable to?
It wasn't until the fourth room that Rachel started to panic. Yet again, she'd reached a door asking for proof of access, except this time... her badge was not accepted. She shook the door handle feebly, knowing it wouldn't open; knowing this was the end of the line. Despite himself, Brian peeked out of the shirt pocket, just in time to see Lana as Rachel swiftly turned around to face the woman, who stood at the opposite end of the room, hair askew and chest heaving as she glared at Rachel and her tiny charge.
"You're persistent, I'll give you that," Lana huffed.
"Why do you need him?! Just let me take him and get another subject!" Rachel bit.
"We let you get away with it and you'll set a precedent! You know that!" Lana snapped right back. "And we don't want to waste any more time. We've spent too much money on this project."
"He's just a baby!"
"All of them are meant to be expendable! Hand him over!"
"No!"
Brian's ears flicked. Rachel held her breath. Was it just them, or did they hear... more footsteps?
"You won't have a choice," Lana said flatly, expressionless as she was joined by not one, not two, but five other lab hands, one of the them Jackson, all of them full-time personnel.
"Rachel.... Hand him over," Jackson said, holding out his hand expectantly.
Rachel glared daggers at him, even though she was fully aware of the impossibility of the situation. Like the mouse she was trying so hard to protect, she was trapped, her back against the wall, literally. They were going to take him. They were going to take him and there was nothing she could do about it....
"I told you not to do anything stupid," Jackson continued.
"Please...," Rachel pleaded, breathing heavily. "Please, let me take care of him. I'll train another in his place as compensation, I swear. Just... don't hurt him."
"And then you'll grow attached to that one and try and kidnap it. We've seen it before. You're not the first," Jackson reprimanded.
"Good," said Rachel. "I'm glad I'm not."
Privately, she wondered why she'd ever signed up for this in the first place. She wanted the degree. She wanted it badly. She also loved animals, and knew that following her passion came with sacrifices. What she hadn't counted on was how difficult it would be to accept that. It wasn't feasible, she realized. In fact, it was darn near impossible.
She looked down at the infant trembling in her pocket -- at this little creature that had captured her heart and locked it away, far away from any hopes and dreams of graduating in the medical field of her choosing. "He's not worth it," Lana had said. Was he not? Brian looked up at her, those glossy little eyes staring at her expectantly, trustingly. She smiled sadly at him and, for the last time, cuddled him close, before looking up at the troop across from her.
"If you want him, come and get him," she challenged. They weren't getting him without a fight.
And they rushed at her.
She tried to escape. Oh, she tried... and failed. They grabbed her by the arms as she wrestled against them, cheering Brian on as he somehow managed to escape from her pocket and slip underneath one of the shelving units in the room. But Lana caught him, Brian squeaking as his tail snagged between the beaker and the small metal panel she'd captured him with. He stared at Rachel, his desperate, panicked expression the last thing she saw before being knocked out.
-------
- Two Years Later -
The plan had failed. Rather spectacularly, he might add....
It was the first time in Brain's memory he could ever recall being caught red-handed by any of the personnel at Acme Labs. It was a miracle he and Pinky had managed to escape, but, despite his best attempts, they'd been separated in the process.
He made for a facility some yards away from the main laboratory, sweating as he squeezed under its front door and immediately hid under a cabinet to his right. Lights flashed now and again beyond the windows, desperate voices accompanying them as the scientists searched here and their for the escapees. Brain silently prayed that Pinky had somehow found a suitable hiding spot.
In his position under the cabinet, he backed up against the wall and slid down it, a paw clutching at his chest as he struggled to catch his breath. After a few seconds, he gulped, sniffed, and buried his face in his knees. Stupid. Stupid.... He'd jeopardized their whole mission. What if they'd captured Pinky? What would they do to him? And even if they did escape, where would they go? He'd ruined everything. Everything....
In his haste to remain undetected, he'd neglected to realize that this room... was not entirely devoid of life. It was a small area -- a security office, to be exact. Numerous monitors took up space on a desk, at which someone sat. They slid out of their chair and stepped over to Brain's hiding place. He noticed... and shivered.
Whatever, whomever, it was got down on their knees to peer at him from just outside the dresser.
"Hello...," they said.
It was a woman. Her voice was soft, and kind, but Brain turned his head away from her prying eyes. Typical. In an effort to not get caught he'd inevitably been ratted out. He immediately considered making a run for it, but, for some reason he couldn't explain, he didn't.
"Hey.... Shh. Shh. It's okay, little one. It's okay," cooed the woman. "You wanna come on out...?"
And she held out a hand to him. She didn't try to grab him, or scare him out. She simply... gave him a choice.
But it had been too long. He didn't recognize her, neither she him... until she noticed the tail. Then she knew.
"Brian...?" she breathed, eyes growing wide.
He stared at her, nonplussed, still shivering.
"Brian, it's me. Rachel," she beckoned, her hand still in place. But he didn't move. If anything, he frowned at her. "Brian"?
And she tried everything -- talking to him soothingly; offering him a treat from her pocket. Nothing worked. Brain simply hid his face once more, willing her to go away; to leave him be; to, hopefully, not report him to the authorities if they came to call.
Rachel sighed. She sat up for a moment, thinking, and blinked. Struck with a sudden idea, she rested her hands on her lap... and began to sing....
“La la lu, La la lu, Oh my little star sweeper, I'll sweep the star dust for you...“
Brain blinked... and lifted his head, ever so slowly....
“La la lu, La la lu, Little soft fluffy sleeper, Here comes a pink cloud for you...“
He stood up... and walked forward, right to the edge of the cabinet. She was still singing.
“La la lu, La la lu, Little wandering angel, Fold up your wings, Close your eyes...”
His mouth was fully open now, his round eyes glossy and getting ever shinier. He couldn't pull his gaze away from her face.
“La la lu, La la lu, And may love be your keeper...
La la lu, La la lu, La la lu....”
Rachel stared at him, smiling. He had completely stepped out from under the cabinet by now, his little body trembling slightly.
"Hello, little star sweeper," Rachel whispered to him.
Breath hitching, Brain ran onto her lap, up her shirt, and clutched tightly to her chest, only a second or two going by before he felt those familiar hands hold him gently, securely.
"Oh, Brian...," she choked, kissing his head. He didn't even flinch.
"Why didn't you come back?" he asked, unable to hold back his tears.
"I couldn't," she answered honestly. "But I was able to keep an eye on you from here."
He sniffed and pulled back a little to look around the room. It was, indeed, a security office, and a fairly high end one at that, decked out with all the works.
"I'm an artist now, but in my part time I take the night shift. They at least let me come back for that, probably 'cause Jackson and Lana are gone now," she chuckled softly. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you this time...."
Brain looked up at her, suddenly understanding. All that time they'd never been caught; never been reported. All those months and years that the camera had simply turned a blind eye to their antics. He thought it was simply negligence. Now he knew why.
"Thank you...," Brain whispered. "And it's... Brain now."
"I know," she smiled. “I still watch tv, ya' know. I just still remember you as my 'Brian'. I'm sorry, Brain."
He couldn't help but smile. All this time....
"Come with me?" Rachel asked him.
"Where?"
"Back to my place. I'll hide you. You can have the guest room, if you'd like."
A sharp knock at the door startled them both, and she quickly ran to her desk, Brain in her hands. She lifted him up and under the desk.
"There's a hidden panel in the roof! Get in it!" she whispered to him urgently.
He found it, albeit with a little difficulty. He pushed at a little area that looked as if it had been cut into... and down shifted a small cubby in which she kept an assortment of odd bits and bobs that were probably not supposed to be in her possession -- special looking keys and badges, among other things. He slipped into it, and Rachel pushed it closed before walking over to answer the door....
Another barrage of bangs thundered at the entrance as Rachel opened it, a hand on her hip as she held the door ajar, doing her best to look as ticked off as possible.
"Sheesh! Gimme a minute to finish pouring my tea! Gosh...."
Outside stood two gentlemen, both in lab coats, looking frantic.
"Have you seen a mouse?" one of them said. He was taller and appeared to be the leader. "White. Large cranium. He was with a companion."
Rachel shrugged.
"Is that what you guys have been looking for?"
"You haven't seen them on your cameras?" the second man asked, panting a little.
Rachel shook her head.
"No, I haven't seen anything."
The men exchanged glances.
"We'd better search the place, just to make sure," the leader said, and without further ado they barged in and began searching every nook, cranny, drawer, and trash can they could. They failed to find the hidden cubby, however. "Can we ask you to roll back the footage?"
"Sure, but you're not gonna find anything," Rachel shrugged again.
They did as permitted, scrutinizing every bit of film captured within the last ten minutes. Although they managed to catch one or two glimpses of the mice leaving the lab, as expected, they couldn't find hair no hide of them on any other roll. Behind their backs, Rachel smirked. Smart little guy. Even on the run, he'd purposely made sure not to walk in the path of the cameras.
After several more minutes of scrutiny, they finally gave up, heading for the door in a huff.
"Sorry for your time. Report to us if you find anything," said the leader.
"No problem," Rachel said, shutting the door with a snap behind them and sighing deeply. Yeah, right..., she thought.
Going back to her desk, she pushed open the hidden cubby. It lowered down and Brain immediately jumped into her hand, breathing rather heavily.
"Sorry, little one," Rachel apologized. I can imagine it's pretty stuffy in there...."
He gave her a look, albeit not a very harsh one. He had no reason to complain.
She raised her hand, allowing him to jump up onto her shoulder.
"They'll be back later to go over more footage," Rachel warned, sitting down at her desk and leaning back in her chair.
"I know," Brain said, licking at his paws and smoothing out his frazzled fur.
Rachel jumped a little and stared at him.
"Heh. I forgot you guys talk now...."
"Is that a problem...?" Brain asked, a little nervously.
Rachel smiled.
"Not at all."
She reached out a hand to scratch at a spot behind his ears.
"What are you...? Ohhhh-ho-ho-ho...," Brain melted, reeling a little at first before giving way to a goofy smile and a thumping foot as he pressed into the touch.
"Still got that little sensitive spot, huh?" Rachel chuckled, her scratches evolving into a head massage.
Brain practically fell off her shoulder, Rachel catching him in her hands and raising him up to eye level, the better to get a good look at him. He cleared his throat, embarrassed. How demoralizing.... But Rachel simply beamed at him.
"You know... I really missed you."
"I... wish I could say the same...," Brain confessed, shuffling a foot. He imagined he had thought of her often, as an infant, but over time the memories simply... faded.
Rachel didn't look upset, though.
"I understand. It's okay. I still love you."
"I...," Brain began, then stopped. No. He couldn't bring himself to say it. Even with Pinky he couldn't ever admit such a thing, and he loved Pinky most of all.
"You don't have to say it. I know you do in your heart," Rachel said, and she kissed him tenderly on the top of his head.
His ears flattened as she did it, and he almost immediately smoothed out the area where she'd kissed him, but he couldn't hide the blush tickling his cheeks and ears. Her behavior was cheesy as all get out, but privately he knew she was right. He did care, even if he'd never admit it.
Just then, something, or... someone, slipped underneath the door. A white-furred, lanky somebody.
"Pinky!!" Brain yelped.
Brain leapt off of Rachel in a flash, landing hard on the floor and limping a little as he ran into Pinky's outstretched arms.
"Brain!!" Pinky shouted right back. "Oh, I thought I'd never see you again!!"
He twirled him around in a circle or two before Brain became aware of what he was doing and promptly pushed himself out of Pinky's grasp, clearing his throat, once again embarrassed.
"Y-Yes, well.... I'm... glad you're safe, Pinky," Brain replied awkwardly, patting his companion on the head.
"Ohhh! Who's this, Brain?" Pinky asked, pointing up at Rachel, who still sat in her computer chair, smiling down at them both.
"Umm.... Pinky, this is Rachel. She's... an old friend."
"Nice to meet you, Pinky! I've heard a lot about you. Well, maybe not heard, but... I've seen you guys on the tv a lot!" Rachel said, beaming.
"You have?!" Pinky gasped, clasping two paws to his face in surprise. "Did you hear that, Brain? We're famous!!"
"Pinky, we've been famous many times, all of them never lasting as long as I'd like...," Brain recollected.
"Well, yes, Brain, but never to a friend!"
Rachel smiled and leaned forward a little.
"I have a proposition for you guys."
"For both of us? Is that legal, Brain?" Pinky whispered to his cage mate, looking concerned, to which Brain facepalmed.
"Proposition, Pinky, not proposal."
"Ohhhhhhhhh. Well, that's different then, isn't it?" Pinky said, nodding eagerly to Rachel.
"How would you guys like to come room at my place? Just for as long as you need until you can get off your feet."
Once again, Pinky gasped excitedly.
"Can we, Brain?!"
"Well...," Brain pondered, hesitating. The offer, though generous, made him feel rather... helpless and awkward, as if he was intruding.
"You're welcome to any of the food and stuff. I've got havarti," she smirked.
Pinky gasped again.
"Oh, please, please, please, please, pleeeeaaaaase, Brain?!?" Pinky pleaded again.
"You're... sure you wouldn't mind?" Brain asked. "I'd hate to intrude...."
"My house is yours," Rachel said genuinely. "And it comes with a pool table," she added, winking at Pinky.
Pinky was doing his utmost to contain a squeal, biting his lip and practically bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet. Brain rolled his eyes.
"Oh, all right...," he relented.
"YAAAAAY!!" exclaimed Pinky, jumping into Rachel's outstretched hand, followed by Brain, as she lifted them up onto her shoulder.
"You'll have to hide in my backpack on the way to the car," she said. "The next guy is about to swap out with me."
And she pulled her backpack up from off the floor and plopped it onto the desk, opening it up. Pinky sprung off her shoulder as if it was a diving board, plunging into the depths of the backpack, which, by all accounts, wasn't very deep. Pinky didn't seem to mind, though. He had fun "swimming" around amongst the snacks, car keys, pencils, wallet, and little sketchpad all the same. Brain simply shook his head, unable to keep a smile off his face. What an idiot.
Rachel was as good as her word. They were given the guest bedroom, along with access to the rest of the house, food included. Provided they didn't draw too much attention to themselves, they were allowed to tinker and plan all they liked within the safety of the back room, and lie low they did, for Acme Labs was on the hunt for a good number of weeks before they gave up on finding them entirely.
Pinky was quite fond of the seemingly unlimited amount of cheese available in the fridge, along with the plethora of movies Rachel had at her disposal. He was often to be found in front of the television, and if he wasn't there he was by Brain's side almost constantly. Brain was most grateful for the space in which to concoct experiments and conjure up plans for world domination, although he had to improvise more often than not, seeing as he didn't have all of the lab's equipment at his beck and call anymore. It was something he sorely missed, but he couldn't say he minded the warm bed and good food that came with their new living quarters either. It was... nice.
Once in a blue moon (which ended up being once a month), Pinky would request Lady and the Tramp for movie night, not just because he liked it, but because of Brain's unusual reaction to it. He liked to watch him subconsciously lean up against Rachel as they sat next to her, eventually breaking down into a fit of silent tears as "La La Lu" danced around the room. Sometimes Rachel would pick him up, holding him close and massaging his head as he calmed against her chest. Oftentimes, Pinky would join them, cuddling up next to Brain as they nuzzled together in Rachel's warm hands.
"I love you, Brain," Pinky would mumble sweetly, giving him an extra squeeze.
"I love you, little one," whispered Rachel, petting him softly.
I love you, too, said Brain in his own little way, holding them both just a tiny bit tighter, a smile creeping its way up onto his face. It was nice, being loved....
~ I love you, too. ~
The End
-------------
The ending of this is meant to be sort of an alternate to Pinky, Elmyra, and the Brain. What if they'd ended up there after running away from Acme instead of at Elmyra's?
I didn’t realize until after writing this that it makes no sense for Rachel to be cool with Brain talking one minute, only to be surprised by it the next. It’s a glaring error on my part, but I left it in as a reminder to myself that I need to be more careful. Lol.
Technically, this whole thing is a self-insert, although the name of the girl is not my real name. It’s actually the cognomen of my very first rat. Ha-ha. But the personality of the character is me -- how I talk; act around animals; and most likely what I’d do if put into this situation. The exception is the chase scene. I don’t think I’d act that... panicked? Who knows, though....
This is kind of a way I show compassion for Brain, seeing as I cannot, of course, give him an actual hug. I love Brain more than any other fictional character I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching on screen. It’s not a romantic love or anything. Certainly not. It’s more... maternal. The desire to love and protect is strong. That combination of: individual with a tragic backstory + laboratory setting + main character who happens to be a mouse = the perfect concoction to turn my heart to mush. I owned rats for many years and have a great love for animals, and tend to get attached to certain fictional characters, so here you have the result. He’d be as averse as ever to physical affection, but if I could hold Brain in my hands, plant a kiss on his head, and tell him he’s loved. I would. Thank God for Pinky.

Plucked (Pixie Virgil/Dlampr) Part 1:
Summary: Virgil, a small and anxious pixie, goes out alone to scavenge for food only to find himself in the hands of a tall and not-so-gentle human intent on bringing him home as a gift to his boyfriends.
Words: 2670
(Warnings: Anxiety, treating people as pets, kidnapping, Character blacking out and other person thinking they died) - I stretch my arms as I yawn out, popping my back in the presses. I lean back and use my hands to rub out my sore wings, having slept on them weird. They flutter a bit as I try to wake up, the morning light shining through one of the small windows in my tree home hits them causing flashes of rainbow light to bounce off the walls.
A small smile crosses my face as I pull off the thick gray long sleeved shirt I wear to bed and change into a simple black tunic, the tunic itself being a little loose around the sleeves and neck, not that I really cared.
I walk across my dark hollow I call home, the whole room only being about a foot long and a half in human measurements. Sure it’s small, but I’ve never really liked large spaces, they make me feel overwhelmed.
There is a shard of broken mirror resting against the dark oaken wall, and I glance at myself in its reflection, taking specific notice in my hair that I try to tame with my fingers, not being very successful. I had given my brush to my cousin a few days ago for him to fix, and am yet to get it back from the forest fairy.
“Damn Emile…” I mutter to myself, cursing the kind fairy as I continue to struggle with my hair. The handle had been broken a small while ago, but it still worked its purpose. Which unfortunately wasn’t good enough for my green winged friend.
I don’t have great luck in flattening it down, and only seem to tame it a small amount. A few stray black strands continue to stick out, causing me to let out an annoyed sigh. I also notice a small amount of dark purple peeking out from my roots, reminding me that I need to get Emile to cut and re-dye it for me. I’ve never been too great at things like that, and last time I tried I almost cut my ear off and also left my arms up to my elbows dyed black. It didn’t wash out for a full month, and I got quite the earful from my older cousin, who acts more like my parent.
Always telling me to be careful, avoid humans, elves and other large creatures, never fly into Fae circles, stay out of the rain, remember to eat, and blah blah blah.
He’s way too protective of me, but I guess he has a reason to be, him being a fairy and me being a pixie. It’s easy to tell the difference, since fairies are two inches taller then pixies and it’s a well known fact that pixies are much more fragile than fairies. And much more rare, which is why I live in the middle of a dense forest, while Emile lives a little ways away and has to fly to see me.
I give up on trying to fix my hair and it’s not like anyone is going to see me. But thinking of my older cousin did remind me that I’m almost out of food and water. It rained a few days ago, but almost nothing ever reaches the mossy forest floor through the trees, and whatever did has dried up by now, meaning I have to go out to get supplies.
“Uuuugghhh….” I groan out as I rub my face. I hate leaving my house, I wish I could just stay here forever. But a main reason I picked my home to be here is it’s not too far from a small pond, hidden between some trees. But an even bigger plus is what’s right across the pond, where large berry bushes sprout. They hold all types of berries, making it the perfect spot to get food all year round.
It's secluded enough that no real predators are able to get to it, but just in-secluded enough for me to be able to walk there in about 20-30 minutes. I could fly but that draws too much attention to me, and I prefer walking over flying anyways.
I wish I was a fairy if I’m being honest, like Emile. His wings and body are much larger than mine, as I stand at a small 4 inches while he stands at a whopping 6. His wings are a light green color, looking like butterflies and they allow him to glide through the air instead of mine, which are thin, almost completely see through. They shimmer when light touches them, and they hold thin silver highlights that seem to emphasize their fragility. I always try to tuck them away, knowing of the horror stories of pixies who had gotten caught by humans, their wings torn off and used for jewelry or a collectors item, while they get thrown into a cage to live out the rest of their lives.
Another thing I happen to be jealous of is Emile’s skin tone. He holds a nice peach color that often ends up tanned due to him spending so much of his free time outside with the other creatures of his small section of forest. Pixies are known to be on the paler side, but I am almost sickly pale due to almost never getting sunlight, along with the patches of light and dark purple littering my skin, the most prominent ones being on my forearms and on both sides of my face.
I sigh again, putting on some platform shoes Emile had made me, grabbing a large bag I can throw over my shoulder, along with another bag stuffed inside to hold the water as I get ready to leave the house.
I put a small cloak on as well, using the hood to cover my hair, and to make it easier to camouflage, since I happen to pop out against the brown and lush green environment of the forest.
I use my feet to push up and leap my way up and out of the small room, my wings being open and fluttering slightly to help my balance.
There is one thing that Emile was jealous of me for, and that was the fact that even though pixies aren’t great or fast fliers like fairies, we can jump significantly higher than almost all fairies and on ground we are incredibly fast on our feet, which is another reason I prefer walking to flying.
I jump over the wall of my room and use my wings to lower myself onto the mossy forest floor. I stretch out my wings again before looking up and rubbing my eyes, trying to get used to the bright light coming from above the tree line high above. The sun feels warm against my skin, and it’s only slightly humid.
“I really need to get out more.” I say to myself as I adjust my bag and begin the trek towards the pond. I stick to walking near the trees instead of the few natural open paths, making it easy to leap up incase of any dangerous animals came towards me, and partially because I’m paranoid.
Wouldn’t be the first time somethings tried to eat me….
I continue walking, humming a quiet tune to ease my mind, as I always feel anxious walking outside by myself. I end up being alert the whole time, feeling as though I’m being watched. Of course I’m not being watched and I know that. No sane person would ever just walk into an enchanted forest, everyone knew that. Not to mention where I live is a good way into the forest, miles away from any human or elf towns.
I stop my humming abruptly as I hear a ruffle of leaves above me to the right, and my eyes shoot over to the area immediately. My breath stops as I try to stay as quiet and still as physically possible. After a few minutes of nothing happening, I let out a shaky sigh, allowing my muscles to relax.
It was probably the wind. Or a bird.
I shiver at the thought. Birds are the worst and one of the only predators a pixie can’t just fly away from.
I start speed walking towards the pond. Being by the large open water always calmed my nerves. There were no fish or kelpies and thank god there aren’t any mermaids or any type of aquatic animals living in the deep water for that matter. But I have seen a deer or two around the area, along with the water spirits that inhabit the clear waters. They let me take water as long as I give them something in return, which is normally a berry or two extra I grab from the bush on the other side of the lake. It’s not a lot, but I think they know I can’t carry much as it is.
I see the pond behind some long grass and my face lights up, as my anxiety seems to melt away. I always was at my calmest at the pond and my paranoid nature would be put on hold until I got home.
I smile as I walk towards the body of fresh water coming towards the edge, easily seeing my reflection in the clear surface.
Pixies and fairies can’t exactly swim, and if even a little water gets on our wings we become temporarily grounded and unable to fly. I don’t really worry about that when coming here, I mean, now anyways…
I slowly got over that fear a year or so ago,
I had been giving the water spirits berries in exchange for water for a while at that point, until one day I had gotten frightened and lost my footing causing me to fall straight into the depth below. I thought I was going to drown….
That was until I heard soft, echoing voices and the light above the water became brighter, the next thing I knew I woke up on the grass next to the pond and my satchel filled with fresh water. I made sure to put double the amount of berries into the pond that day…
I pull out my spare bag and unscrew the lid near the top before lowering it into the water and waiting for it to fill.
A few stray ripples in the blue water come towards me, causing small waves against my bag. I smile at it, making small talk. From anyone else’s view it would seem like I’m crazy and talking to myself, but I know that the water spirits appreciate conversation.
Once my bag is full I pull it away from the water and screw on the lid, while thanking the spirits.
I use my cloak to dry off the outside of the pouch before placing my water bag inside my larger bag. Sure it’s heavy, but I don’t have anywhere to be at the moment, so I’ll take my time.
I sigh and begin the tiring trek around the pond. It takes longer than I would like to get to the berry bushes, but the sound of the soft water makes for a quiet and calming walk. Around this time of year, the path to the other side of the pond is extended. While the rain might not make it through the forest where I live, it does here, making the edges of the pond muddy and dangerous.
I walk deeper into the forest, making a big semi circle around the muddy area. I decide to walk deeper, enjoying the fresh air and the small breeze that causes my hood to almost fly off, but I fortunately catch it and pull it back onto my face.
I walk a straight line between a few of the trees, a content smile on my face, while starting to hum quietly to myself again. I close my eyes for a second as I walk, a hand crossing over on the strap of my bag, but when I open them slightly I notice a large dark shadow covering me. I look up quickly to see a large hand coming towards me.
Out of instinct I immediately drop my bag and jump backwards just in time for another hand to rush at me and I barely make it out of the way. I use the hand to push myself into the air, my wings immediately getting to work as I go to fly upwards, trying to put as much distance between me and the stranger.
‘Crap!-’
I don’t get more than a few feet before I narrowly avoid another hand, this one coming at me so quickly that instead of grabbing me, it barely manages to snag my cloak with it’s nail, but it lets out a loud ‘riiiiiiiiiiiip’ that seems to echo out into the otherwise quiet forest.
That momentary distraction is all it takes for the two large hands to harshly cup around me, shadowing me into darkness. Once it grips on I start to struggle, thrashing and screeching in it’s hold, my feet kicking against its palms. This only seems to anger it as its grip tightens to an almost suffocating hold, I whimper as the grip pushes my arms together, my chest feeling like it’s going to explode as tear prick the corners of my eyes.
My wings sting against the calloused hands and I can feel him start to move quickly causing me to bump around against the mini prison, murmurs of someone's voice heard somewhere outside as my vision starts to swim, so I do the only reasonable thing I could think of.
I bite down. Hard.
I draw blood easily and the second the hand opens I launch myself out towards the light ahead of me, adrenaline and fear fueling my movements as I see the hand try to reach out to me before I see it pushing down, taking me with it.
All I see is the hand and the forest floor rushing up to greet me before I’m slammed onto it, the weight of the hand crushing me and knocking the wind out of my chest before everything in sight is covered in black pools and eventually nothing….
-
I groan from my place on the ground, having tripped over my own feet when reaching for the winged mini-person. My boyfriend Logan was always fascinated with fairies so when I saw it just walking around I figured it would make a great ‘I’m-Sorry-I-Accidentally-Lit-The-Bathroom-On-Fire’ gift.
I hadn't expected the thing to bite me though. Or sting me, I don’t know which one it was but it hurts like a bitch. I hope they're not poisonous…. But then again if they are, my boyfriends will have to take care of me….. I shake my head to get rid of the thought, looking around for the little thing that has caused me so much trouble.
I look to where my hand is planted on the ground, and I try to keep it steady as I wipe a bit of dirt that had gotten on my green throw over that Patton had made me bring incase it got cold.
I scoop up the little being with both of my hands in a little pocket, making sure not to crush it and bring it up to my eyes before slowly opening my hands, allowing me to look at it.
I can see it’s pale skin, dark messy hair and clearly ripped cloak, along with some patches of purple throughout their body. But the most striking part are its wings, not like any fairies I’d ever heard of, and once the light catches them they seem to burst with colors…
“Logan is going to love this!” I mutter to myself.
But then I notice something else strange. The once feisty and screeching fairy wasn’t struggling, heck it wasn’t moving at all!
My body jumps when I realize this, and I nearly drop the little person, my eyes widen in panic as I end up blurting out,
“Shit! Did I fucking kill it!?”

Chapter 4 - Misadventures In Mail Delivery
It had been about two weeks or so since the incident with the stagecoach, and Catherine had definitely been keeping busy around camp. Mrs. Grimshaw quickly put her to work with the laundry, dishes, and assisting Pearson with the stew preparation. Adjusting to the life of an outlaw was a slow and strange process, especially after never having to do regular chores prior her entire life, but it was starting to feel normal. She even picked up new skills and hobbies that she enjoyed, like sewing, despite how many times she pricked herself while Tilly taught her the basics.
Catherine awoke to a particularly chilly morning and quickly got dressed in an effort to block out the cold air. A simple long-sleeved maroon shirt and a pair of black jeans, that she actually preferred over skirts after wearing them so often, accompanied her riding boots. She ran a brush through her tangled hair, taking time to pay special attention to a stubborn knot in the back, before putting it in a simple plait.
As she exited her small tent she raised her arms up and stretched, groaning a bit when her lower back popped a bit. Like every morning, she made a beeline to the fire and grabbed a cup of coffee.
Hosea called her over to the table he was currently sat at. “Would you mind taking a ride into town to pick up the mail?”
She gave a quick nod at him before downing the rest of her coffee. “Of course! What do we need?”
“Mrs. Grimshaw ordered some clothes and there are probably some letters for Dutch and myself.”
“Sounds good. I’ll get a move on now.” They shared a smile before Hosea returned his attention to the book in his lap and Catherine headed back to her tent. She grabbed the dark blue jacket that was slung on top of her clothing trunk before walking over to where Arthur, John, and Lenny were standing and enjoying their coffee. “Morning fellas,” she said with a warm smile as she pulled the jacket on.
The group replied with their own nods and small ‘morning’s of acknowledgement before she spoke up again. “Well I’m heading into town to grab the mail, any of you need me to pick up somethin’ from the store?”
Arthur spoke up first. “A pack of cigarettes would be nice.”
~~~~~
She looked between the other two as they just shook their heads. “Can do, Mr. Morgan. I should be back in an hour or so.”
The ride into town went smoothly as always. Catherine passed only a few people on the road, as the sun was still just over the horizon, and stopped at the post office first. She collected everything they needed, a stack of letters addressed to the ringleaders of the gang and a package for Miss Grimshaw. She securely strapped the package to the back of her horse before slipping the letters into the saddlebags and walking to the general store.
Catherine made a quick lap around the store, picking up Arthur’s request as well as a can of peaches for herself and some candies for Jack. As she stood at the counter to pay she felt someone staring at her and quickly looked around the store before taking note of the man paying a little too much attention to the box of biscuits in his hand. She passed the clerk a few bills before gathering her things and returning to her horse.
As she was putting the things into the saddlebags, that same looming presence of someone watching made itself known once again. Catherine quickly slipped the cigarettes and chocolate bar into the inner pocket of her jacket before she mounted and spurred her horse into a gallop to get out of town as fast as possible. When she was barely half a mile out of town the sound of steady hooves following her seemed to grow louder with each passing moment. She spared them a quick glance over her shoulder before turning off of the road and into the thick forest of Tall Trees.
Her mare protested every time she was spurred on to keep up her pace, but the stead never once slowed down. Catherine ducked and weaved through low hanging branches, keeping a hand held out in front of her face to avoid any collisions.
The sound of hooves only faded for a moment as she ducked into the forest before reappearing almost twice as loud. A small “shit!” escaped her lips as the sound of hooves and the edge of Tall Trees grew closer.
Catherine failed to realize that she was nearing a small cliff and, before she could slow down, her horse slid down the slope uncontrollably. Her mare began to freak out, frantically trying to regain its footing on the loose dirt and rocks, and bucked her off in the process. She fell to the ground with a hard thud, pain in her chest and the air fully gone from her lungs.
Between ragged breaths as she lay on the ground, trying to regain her breathing, she noticed the sounds of hooves had stopped and steady footsteps crunching leaves began to approach her. She tried to reach for her pistol but one of the men shot a bullet next to her head, obviously missing on purpose.
“The boss is gonna be very happy about this,” the other man chucked. The last thing she saw was her mare sprinting off in the direction of camp before the butt of a rifle knocked her out cold.
~~~~~
“Hey, Lenny!” Arthur called to the man on guard duty as he walked towards his horse. “Has Miss Hays gotten back yet?”
He adjusted the rifle in his hand as he turned to look back at the man behind him. “No, I haven’t seen her.”
“Damn, I could use that pack of cigarettes she promised.” No sooner than the words left his mouth did the steady gallop of hooves start to approach the camp. The two men looked towards the sound expecting to see the woman they were just discussing, but were met with her dark brown mare barreling down the path. Arthur, wasting no time at all, instinctively put his hands up to slow the horse and grab the reins. He calmed her down enough that she stopped moving, though she was still shaking her head and huffing from the unfamiliar contact.
The two men shared a glance before Lenny spoke up. “Well,” he exhaled. “This ain’t good.”
~~~~~
The world was a haze around Catherine as she started to come to her senses. The room she was in was mostly dark, with a small stream of light peeking in from the torn curtain. She blinked a few times to get her eyes adjusted to the space around her. It was a small room, with a mattress pushed against the opposite corner of the room and a table covered in playing cards and empty cigarette cartons next to her.
Her mouth was dry and tasted like metal. Her vision was still blurry from the darkness, but she could still tell her eyes were very swollen. Despite her whole body screaming and protesting against her, she tried to move. Her muscles ached against the rope tied around her hands and legs.
She stopped struggling when a male voice spoke up outside. “How much longer do we have to be in this shithole?”
Another man replied, “Another day or two, probably. Just waiting on Calvin to send word for us to send her back.”
She felt her stomach churn. Of course he was behind this.
The door to the cabin swung open and she could vaguely make out the shape of a man walking towards her. “Look who’s awake, boys!” As he walked closer she recognized the figure to be the man that shot at her earlier.
“I’d rather die than go back to that rat,” she spat, struggling against the ropes.
The man laughed and crouched down next to her. “As much as I would love to make that happen,” he said with a smile. “I’m afraid Mr. Foster specifically requested you be returned alive so he could decide exactly what to do with you.” He lifted up a hand to her cheek, stroking the soft skin with his thumb. God , she wanted to throw up. Or punch him in the face. “Pity though, that he gets to have all the fun with you. I bet you’d make a very-”
Before he could continue she moved her face to the right towards his hand and bit down hand, directly at the base of his thumb. He yanked his hand back and grabbed it, making sure that he wasn’t bleeding. Catherine looked at him with fire in her eyes and he returned the gaze with pure anger. “You bitch!!” he yelled, using his opposite hand to slap her across the face. Her head went back and hit off the hardwood of the wall behind her, a yelp of pain escaping her lips. The world started to spin around her and her vision started to get hazy. She vaguely heard the man spew some string of curse words at her before she blacked out.
~~~~~
The second time she woke was to gunfire outside of the small cabin. The men that captured her were not only yelling a lot between each other, but she had a feeling that they were losing the fight as well.
“Check inside, we’ll keep watch out here,” a distant voice said. It sounded hazy and muffled as it broke through the ringing of her ears.
The door to the house opened and she tightly shut her eyes from the heavy moonlight. After a moment she opened them to see a figure approaching her, to which she instinctively curled her bruised body further into a ball. Her figure shook violently from fear and the cold air surrounding her.
“Hey, s’okay. I ain’t gon’ hurt ya.” the figure spoke up in a soft tone. The voice was deep and gravelly but also gentle. One that felt familiar and safe.
She looked up with tears in her half-lidded eyes and said, “Arthur?” Her voice was weak and sounded almost like a wheeze.
“Shhh, it’s alright. We’re gon’ getcha outta here.” He carefully cut the ropes on her arms and hands. “Can ya walk?” When Catherine slowly shook her head Arthur bent down to slide his arms under her legs and behind her back. He hoisted her body up- to which she let out a loud cry of pain- and walked back out of the small cabin, careful to not hit her against the doorframe. She rested her head against his chest as they walked to try and stop the world from spinning around her.
For the first time in what was probably days she felt safe.
“Take her back to camp,” another voice spoke up. “We’ll stay back for a bit and make sure no one is left.” Arthur sat her on the front of his horse’s saddle and carefully got in behind her to assure she wouldn’t fall during the ride.
As they rode off back towards camp Catherine kept her head propped up against Arthur’s chest with her eyes closed, desperately trying to ignore the aching pain her body felt as the horse galloped. Her right hand clutched the front of his shirt, her legs dangling over the side of the horse, and a few stray tears leaked out of her eyes.
“Well be back soon, just stay with me.” She felt his chest rumble against her head as he spoke and groaned out in pain, to which he instinctively wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “I know it hurts but we’ll be back soon.”
She started to feel lightheaded and groggy. Using the last of her strength, Catherine opened her puffy eyes and looked up at Arthur. “Wasn’t.. O’Driscolls,” she murmured, voice nearly giving out at the end.
The last thing she heard was Arthur’s confused “What?” before her field of view was swallowed into blackness and she slipped out of consciousness again.
~~~~~
Catherine didn’t remember much of what happened after that. She remembered a lot of yelling, people rushing around, and what she thinks was Arthur and Lenny talking. When she was finally fully conscious she woke up to a very dry mouth and almost every part of her body in pain. She looked at her surroundings and realized she was back at camp, in her tent, with Hosea reading a book beside her cot. Upon noticing her awake he smiled and shut the book, and reaching for a cup of water he had resting on the crate next to her.
“Good to see you awake, Catherine.” He helped her lean up and drink, reminding her to go slow and breathe so she didn’t choke. “You gave us all quite the scare.”
Before she could reply the flap to her tent was opened and Arthur’s familiar hat peaked in. “Glad to see you’re up.”
She felt the corner of her mouth turn up in a light smile at his voice. Hosea waved Arthur in and stood before saying, “I’ll let you catch her up on everything, but make sure she eats something and gets a lot of rest.” He gave Arthur a pat on the arm before leaving and closing the tent’s canvas.
“How..” she started, struggling to speak as her throat was still sore and voice was almost gone. “How long was I out?”
Arthur sat down in the chair next to her and leaned back. “A few days. You’ve been in and out a couple times, but never as aware as ya’ are now. Hell, Reverend was considerin’ reading you yer last rights last time you were conscious.” They shared a chuckle at the thought before Arthur continued. “Took a hell of a beating back there but at least Miss Grimshaw will go easy on you for a while.”
Arthur looked at her for a second and took in her features. “Do you have any idea who those men were? ‘Cause you said they ain’t O’Driscolls when we were coming back to camp.”
She let out a sigh. “Yeah, I do.” Her gaze shifted from him to the canvas covering the top of the tent. “Calvin sent them. The man I was supposed to marry.”
He looked down at his feet and nodded, before looking back up at her a moment later. “I’m guessing he’s not too happy you left your old life?”
Catherine’s eyes returned to the man next to her. “Not at all.” She swallowed the lump in her throat and looked down at her hands, her thumbs fidgeting together in her lap. “I’m sorry you have to deal with this. I didn’t want to get you all wrapped into more problems than you already have.”
Arthur leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “Catherine,” he said with a sincere tone, “You’re a part of this gang now, which makes you family. And as a family one person’s problems become a concern for all of us. If this son of a bitch shows his face again we’ll take care of it.”
She smiled at the sincerity of his words, tears threatening her eyes. The two sat in silence for a moment, enjoying each other’s company before a thought popped into her head. “Oh!” she said suddenly. “Is my horse alright?”
Arthur chuckled at her concern. “She’s perfectly fine. An hour or two after you left she showed back up at camp without you, so me and Lenny figured you were in trouble. Real smart girl you got there, seeing as she was able to bring herself all the way back to camp on her own.”
Catherine smiled at the good news. “Thank god she’s alright.” Her eyes drifted to the trunk on the floor next to Arthur’s chair and she spotted her jacket laying on top of it. “Arthur, could you grab my jacket for me?” She gestured with her right hand to where it lay and he picked it up before gently laying it on the bed next to her. “Before I forget,” she said with a smirk as she reached into the pocket on the inner lining. “You might be wanting these.” She handed over the, now slightly squashed, pack of cigarettes to him.
He laughed as he accepted the gift, having nearly forgotten that he even asked for them. “Thank you very much, Miss Hays.”
“Consider it payment for rescuing me from my captors.”
Origami Dreams
Another experimental fic involving Jujustu Kaisen but with Yuji this time.
Origami, the craft of folding paper to create extraordinary creations. An art very treasured in the far East especially one specific legend. It was said if one were to fold a 1,000 paper cranes, then the gods will grant that person a single wish for their dexterous hard work. Something a lot of people gave up on from how difficult or monotonous the task was.
To one little boy named Yuji Itadori, it was a pastime he spent alongside his grandfather. For it all started when a classmate had given him a book on origami. He couldn't remember her name but he never forgot the image of fire and lightning upon the memory.
Not even the next day, his classmate had perished in a vicious car accident. To keep her last gift from becoming forgotten, little Yuji began to learn the craft of origami. First it started small like flowers or a snake, then in three months he crafted fantastic dragons, phoenixes and even an origami castle from scratch with masterful talent.
His favorite pieces of origami were simpler than all of his creations. It was a pair of sibling rulers, a king and his younger sister. They sat happily together on two thrones belonging to his origami castle, although he needed his grandfather's help to put them there properly.
Something that always brought him joy was looking at his masterpiece alongside his grandfather. You can only imagine the look of 7 year old Yuji on a day that could be described as a nightmare. A small boy with chocolate brown eyes, salmon hair sitting over almost black thin locks, and barely 3 ft tall watch his grandfather get carted into an ambulance.
The man had suffered a severe stroke which had put his only guardian into a deep coma. A tragedy that left a child returning to an empty house all alone. For a few days, Yuji barely ate anything and avoided his room where his castle lied. One day, he had found or to be precise tripped over the origami book given to him by his fallen classmate.
The book opened onto the legend of the 1,000 paper cranes. Something that gave the boy's soul fire once more. He returned to his room and began his quest to fold the finest paper cranes he could make. Searched every room for spare paper, if he ran out then he took any he could such as pages and color sheets.
Over the span of months, the little boy crafted paper crane after paper crane. Even if he missed up multiple times or lost a few cranes, Yuji never gave up. Finally on the night before his birthday, the child was crafting the last two paper cranes. Cranes crafted from various paper circles around the near 8 year old at his desk.
Slightly pudgy hands tiredly work to fold the wings of a red paper crane with the light of his desk lamp. Above his highest shelf sat a large green checkered origami castle and between its walls were two thrones which sat two origami people. They were sibling rulers for the folded crowns that sat on their sun blond hair heads.
"I'm... almost finished." Said the little boy, drowsiness slowly taking over his senses. He shakily picked up the last piece of blue construction paper and began to fold. Yuji's eyes felt heavy as fog filled his thoughts. First was the body, then came the head, and the wings were to follow.
"Only...a few…*yawn* more folds…" His head turned slightly to the castle of origami's sitting rulers. Their smiling eyes looking back at him as he was on the last two folds. Yuji needed to make a wish before folding the last crane.
It was getting harder to stay awake but he wouldn't sleep until he finished this. The salmon haired child looked at the incomplete paper bird in his hands. Vision growing fuzzy from tiredness, Yuji made the last fold and with his last bit of consciousness made a wish.
"I wish I wasn't alone…" And the boy's mind went black followed by a soft thud. Unbeknownst to the child, his wish would come true as the clock struck twelve. It wouldn't be how he expected though.
Something dull and pointy began to poke the boy's pudgy cheek. Crumbled words reaching the child's ears as his brain slowly came to life. "Hey brother! Our not paper creator is waking up! His rosy cheeks feel like pillows!" A childish young girl's bursting with excitement spoke as Yuji tiredly realized he wasn't alone.
Sleepy brown eyes slowly open to two very familiar pieces of origami overlooking him. Two people with one female and the other male. The female had blond hair with two large curls folded at the back, a folded dress robe made from yellow construction paper, peach paper forming the head with two small black strips to make little eyes, two point folded paper crown that adorn her head, white point fold arms and dark brown point fold legs.
Her male companion had pale blonde hair folded into a large curl that cover the left side of his face, a royal robe made from dark violet construction paper, a gold three pointed paper crown sat on his head with narrow black pieces paper to form eyes that were in a deadpan expression at the moment, purple point fold arms and white point fold legs.
Yuji knew who these surprisingly 1 ft and half tall origami were, they were the two siblings of his Origami Castle: Olly and his little sister Olivia. His two prized creations were floating before, completely alive almost if by magic. The 1,000 Paper Cranes magic. In seconds, the sleepiness faded away as the salmon hair boy sat up in relative shock.
"No doubt the young child is having an existential moment. He may have crafted the 1,000 paper cranes but he wasn't aware of the power that origami can possess. Particularly to those dedicated to the art." Spoke Olly who floated around the room to observe the child's work.
Olivia merely sat herself on the boy's desk to look at the various cranes that sat there. "Creator, take a few deep breaths. It should help calm you down a bit." Without even questioning her instructions, the little boy took a few deep breaths. His nerves and shell shock dissipating in little time.
"You're saying that all my hardwork brought you both to life? Does it mean that something happened to Grandpa too?" Olly flew over to Yuji upon the spoken question. "If you are talking about 'Wasuke Itadori', the hospital had made a call a few hours ago. His pulse has returned to normal and should be waking up soon. He is in extensive care, sadly. It means he can't leave without further risk to his health."
Even though his grandfather was stuck in the hospital, knowing his only family is going to be okay made the little boy happy. The 1,000 Paper Cranes had fulfilled his wish although with two extra attachments. Olly and Olivia had been brought to life. Speaking of which…
"You guys don't have to call me Creator all the time. Just call me Yuji." Yuji smiled brightly at the origami siblings. Olivia giggled before playfully patting the child's cheek. "Sure! Olly, Olivia and Yuji! That sounds like the beginning of a fairytale." The paper princess wasn't wrong on that assumption.
After that day, the little boy now lived in the once empty house with the two living origami. Something that had a lot of obstacles to face but nothing too harsh. First was money for necessary essentials, such as food and water but learning material too.
Selling origami was actually a good source of income with the presence of the two paper siblings. Olly and Olivia had magic which they used for various things but at the moment was to keep any origami Yuji sold to be immune to both damage and age. Some of his creations went from 200 yen to even 5,000 yen per piece depending on how advanced it was.
The two siblings would have to keep out of sight since any normal person would hunt them down for bad purposes. Luckily, Olly and Olivia could fold themselves to pocket size pieces that Yuji could carry with no trouble but they couldn't come to school.
Cooking wasn't much of an issue to learn although there were quite a few accidents with cookbooks and a blender that should never be told. However it appeared that there was much more to his life than magical Origami. For two years later, Yuji learned Olly and Olivia weren't the only ones who changed. He did too.
A 10 year old Yuji Itadori had found himself in a very bad situation. Sometimes selling origami creations would be difficult at some point during each year. This often led the young boy scavenging through abandoned places to look for anything valuable to sell.
He had found an old empty shack that wasn't too far from his house. It had enough scrap metal and loose change that could make up around 9,000 yen in cash alone. Problem was that there was... something living in the shack. And it wasn't friendly.
Yuji was running for his life with Olivia and Olly in his pockets. Behind the child was a blobfish-like abomination with multiple bulging yellow eyes across a gross green body, 15 deformed hands bent in unnatural ways that serve as legs and a large mouth filled with monstrous teeth along a long slimy tongue.
"What is that thing?! It looks so gross!" Olivia screamed within his shirt pocket. The monster had taken them by surprise when they were searching for more scraps. Too fast to prepare anything except to run. "I think it might be a Curse. Something about this world felt off so I did a personal investigation." Chimed Olly from Yuji's jacket pocket.
Both kept their little tirade about breaking the house rule quiet to hear what vital information that could save their life. "Curses are creatures invisible and invulnerable to those without Cursed Energy. I did come across an interesting fact, our Origami Magic can be used to successfully fight them!" Eyes widened upon Olly's explanation.
Too bad Yuji's foot got caught on a tree root which sent the child to the ground hard. "Yuji!" Olivia shot out of his pocket quickly unfolding herself to full size so she could help the boy up. None of them could prepare when the hideous Curse leapt at the two. Life flashing before his eyes, a single thought went through the salmon haired boy's head.
I want to live!
In seconds, the sound of rippling paper and a distorted gasp tore the silence to pieces. Opening eyes he didn't realize that he even closed, Yuji was greeted by an incredible sight. The vicious curse had been snared in large peach ropes of folded Origami that led to a dark blue fold. The very paper itself was the child's own arms, flesh and cloth turned into powerful origami of 1,000 folds.
Without hesitation, Yuji held the monster tighter in his grips as he raised his long origami arms into the air. "Leave us alone!!!" And the child slammed the monster brutally into the ground. It splatted but not into blood or gore. No, the creature exploded into paper confetti of its original green color.
Olly slipped out of Yuji's pocket to stare at the scene in utter shock before turning to his sister. A glowing orange symbol of a hand was on the right side of her chest which vanished upon Yuji's hands turning back to normal. "That was the 1,000-Fold Arms Technique you just did! And the...Curse turned into confetti." Olivia gawked in absolute shock.
It made no sense. Only paper or origami could use the technique and only origami would become confetti upon defeat. Not the hands of a child or a defeated monster. There was only one explanation. "Our magical presence has affected Yuji. He can use origami magic." That very sentence from male origami ruler was enough to picture how things had drastically changed.
After that day, the boy and his two paper companions learned to understand the powers little Yuji now had. It was a hard task for experimentations were needed thus led to occasional battles against Curses. Over the span of 5 years, the child had grown into a young man skilled in the art of origami magic.
There were still some spells he couldn't do without assistance from either Olly or Olivia but Yuji could defend himself against moderate strength Curses now. Although, nothing could compare for the third thing to come into his life. The Cursed Finger of Ryomen Sukuna.
It had occurred two weeks before afternoon clubs would begin at his local high school. The once small child now was a teenager standing around 5'8 in height and most of his baby fat was replaced with lean powerful bulk. Even though Olly and Olivia couldn't really grow like he could, the two happily took advantage of his new height to hang onto his shoulders instead.
Wearing a long coat or cloak on his back along with this 'koala cuddle' meant they didn't have to hide in his pockets if the weather was nice. Anyway, he had a huge cram session to deal with since there would be a big test in a few days. This meant that sometimes he couldn't cook and had instant ramen substitute for dinner.
What he didn't know was in the extra large cup of beef and pork ramen, something had accidentally got inside the package. Olly was sitting across the table looking through the stack of books Yuji had brought home. The origami prince had taken up reading and writing as a personal hobby so the teen often picked up books or writing material.
Olivia was sitting on the couch watching a cartoon on the TV. She usually spent her time drawing comics or acting out scenes from her favorite shows. In fact, Yuji made an account on the computer where the origami princess could post her comics whenever she wanted. Something that exploded across the internet as they end up getting emails to publish them on real paperback.
"Hey Olly, that stapler you wanted to buy should be in stores a few days from now. You want me to grab it for you?" Yuji questioned while slurping some noodles. "Table manners Yuji. And yes, I would like that. It's been so long since I've seen my beloved pet." The origami prince replied while flipping to the next page of his book.
The salmon haired young man pulled up something wrapped up in his ramen noodles. It was too tightly wound to take a better look but the teen could see it was dark meat of some type. Shrugging his shoulders, Yuji put the clump of noodles and meat in his mouth.
Olivia who was about to ask her brother something instantly paled at what was about to go down her creator's throat. It looked like a decrepit old rotten finger with a large claw, so old that it was dark purple and clearly toxic. "That's a crusty finger not beef!" And the finger went down the boy's throat before anyone could move.
Olly quickly flew over to the couch as the kitchen table exploded into splinters. The cause being their salmon hair roommate whose arm was held up in a swipe manner, an arm covered in intricate black tattoos and had large violet claws. Both watched as two slits that emerged under Yuji's eyes alongside black tattoos opened to reveal smaller red eyes.
Or the fact their friend laughed in a deeper more manic voice reminiscent of a psychopath. "Ahahahaha! It feels good to be alive again! Wonder what massacres I can unleash upon this age! The women and children crawling around like lambs to the slaughter!" The possessed Yuji then rips off his shirt apart to reveal even more intricate tattoos going down his slightly more powerful looking body.
"Our big brother got possessed by a psycho devil stripper!!" Olly could only freeze upon his sister's cry as four blood red orbs had now spotted them. Not Yuji stared at the two origami people behind the large plush furniture. Surprise and confusion crossing his four eyed face before he let out a manic chuckle.
"Hahaha! It seems this body belongs to a Jujutsu Sorcerer who knew how to craft living origami. Quite an interesting Cursed Technique… I wonder what I can learn from tearing you apart!" Both siblings were ready to fly away when Not Yuji suddenly froze. A familiar hand symbol emerged on Olivia's chest as Not Yuji's hands morphed into long appendages made of folded origami.
The Thousand Fold Arms wrapping itself around the possessed teen like a straitjacket much to their anger. "What?!" He shouted only for a mouth to pop up on his right cheek and the right eye's iris turning brown in color.
"Good to know origami magic can counter possession to an extent. Alright asshole, who are you? You already pissed me off since you tried to hurt my family and now ruined my study session!" Yuji threatened from the sudden transmutation. Not Yuji growled at the threat in irritation realizing he couldn't move or even retreat into the teen's soul.
This boy had somehow purposely locked him out from both the inside and outside. "No matter what age, you Jujutsu Sorcerers are still a pain in the ass! I am Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses! Show some respect you damn brat!" Howled the possessor as he struggled to break the teen's powerful hold over this body.
"Jujutsu Sorcerers??? What the heck is even that? And Curses have a king??? Then again, your crusty finger ended up in Yuji's ramen so maybe you're a gag?" Sukuna decided that he was going to tear the yellow origami girl apart first for the blatant disrespect. If he got out of this boy's grip. Her questions however raised one of his own.
"You telling me that not only do you fools don't know about me but also Jujutsu Sorcerers? Are you a bunch of dumbasses or completely ignorant?!" The King of Curses would've said more if a large blade didn't pop appear by his neck.
This blade or to be precise, blades, belonged to an inhumanly large pair of cutting scissors that were the size of a van. His three crimson eyes burned holes at Olly's own whose paper left arm was enveloped in a wild green circle depicting the tool ready to chop off his head. The prince's face burned red with rage.
"You're lucky I care about Yuji or I would cut your head off for disrespecting my family. We don't know about you or these Jujutsu Sorcerers and frankly don't care. Get out of our older brother's body now so he can study for his exam." Olly threatened, his tone similar to a lion ready to cut down intruders targeting its pride.
"Well too bad! I can't leave your little master's body even if I wanted too! He only ate one of my 20 fingers and even if he did eat them all, the boy's body will become mine! Unless you can fully pull my soul out then I'm stuck with you brats." Sukuna's words dripping with foul venom.
The information painted a very bad picture for the makeshift family of three. A psychotic demon was trapped in the eldest body and soul split into 20 pieces. Even if they could find all the fingers, it didn't mean the King of Curses would leave Yuji's body willingly.
"Then let's find those fingers." Yuji's second mouth grabbed everyone's attention. "You might be stuck in my body but that doesn't mean I can get you out somehow or someway. At best, I can make a origami body that you can possess temporarily so you won't be cooped up in my soul. And once we find all the fingers, I can get you out of my body with the 1,000 Paper Cranes."
A look of realization passing over Olivia's face. "That's right! The 1,000 Paper Cranes ritual can grant a free wish if you can make all the cranes faster than you did the first time! We can use that wish to get Sukuna out of your body! Nice thinking Yuji!" The King of Curses' couldn't help the shellshock.
These three were willing to collect every piece of his soul and use some wish making technique to make him whole again? None of them had any idea what they were getting themselves into by him or those who still seek to destroy the demon. If he played his cards right, then he will finally live once more.
"Alright you cocky little shits. I can help you locate my fingers since they're a part of my soul. Don't think we'll be buddy buddy because once I get out of that brat's body, I will rip you to shreds! Hear me?!" The pair of scissors by the two faced being's neck shrunk back to normal size before hitting the floor.
"We'll fight back when that time comes. For now, you better behave yourself. Come Olivia, let's see what paper we can use for Sukuna's origami vessel." With that said, Olly dragged his sister out of the room. Yuji's arms returned to normal once the magic connection was cut then ripped Sukuna's control over his body.
The tattoos vanished and one of the slits closed except for the right he forced open which took its original red hue. "Why haven't you fully blocked me out yet? You clearly have enough control to fully suppress me. Are you pitying me, dumb brat?!" Yuji merely ignored Sukuna's threat to grab a piece of paper and a pencil.
"What do you want your origami body to look like? It'll have a form similar to Olly and Olivia but you can choose the customization. Even give it four arms if you have the normal amount of fingers per hand like a human does." Yuji questioned, the mouth on his cheek going silent for a moment.
A few seconds later Sukuna spoke up once Yuji finished the body's outline. "Give it four arms and four crimson eyes. The clothing should be a kimono but I want different color sleeves." The salmon haired teen smiled as he got to work on the concept with the demon's instructions.
Maybe things wouldn't be so bad despite having to search for 20 fingers of a literal demon that had entered his life.
And that's it. Today's story was mixed with the newest Paper Mario game: The Origami King. Without spoiling the game to those who wish to play, it's a very fun game but the ending is very bittersweet.
I also wanted to experiment a bit with Yuji as a kid. How different this Yuji could turn out than his canon incarnation since there is new factors to his life.
Olly and Olivia will be serving sibling roles to Itadori but also taught him how to use Origami based magic or Cursed Technique. I'm taking the Smash Brothers' approach to bypass the requirement of Cursed Energy since in Smash Bros, rules are changed to allow each fighter to be on equal terms.
The game mechanics such as 1,000-Fold Arms, enemies, bosses and different locations will be incorporated into Yuji's moveset. This Yuji is also smarter due to Olly and Olivia's presence, perfect motivation to learn.
Spoilers?: Sukuna is going to get attached to the three.
I hope you guys enjoy the story! Until next time folks! Oh and have this Origami Ryomen Sukuna design! Chou!
Edit: Fixed a few spelling mistakes and grammar. Apparently me misspelling Jujutsu is pretty common in early works with this franchise. 😅
Little Character Things
Tumblr media
Just a fun little character game. fill in the below categories with 3-5 things that your character can be identified by. repost & tag away!
tagged by stolen from: my old blog, edited to be more current
EMOTIONS / FEELINGS:
Indifference. Usually his default emotion in terms of people.
Curiosity. Despite his nihilistic perspective, Kimbley is always in the mood to learn.
Amusement. Life is a joke, might as well have a good laugh.
Desire. Not specifically sexual, but he’s always looking for something to want. And this does not mean for material goods, status, power, etc.—he wants something that moves him.
GREETINGS;
As a man of many faces and personas, the way that Kimbley treats his approach to people varies depending on his relationship with them.
First and foremost, Kimbley believes that making a good first impression is paramount when making new acquaintances. This is because he’s always looking for people to use or manipulate, whether for a specific purpose or just for fun. Therefore, upon meeting a new person, he makes sure to put on a pleasant façade and turn up his natural, practiced charm—come off as a handsome, friendly, helpful man to any strangers that might be wandering around Dublith. He’s all warm handshakes and sweet smiles. (And he’s very good at continuing this charade, if need be.)
Of course, there are some people who are aware of this faux mask. Depending on whether or not they are civil toward one another, his greetings change.
With those that despise him, he ensures indifference in his tone—unfriendliness, coldness, and a condescension that clearly states “I know I’m better than you, and I don’t care what you think of me.” At times his “hellos” are laced with blatant, smug insincerity, and he won’t hesitate to throw in some passive aggressive yet subtle insults or gross/morbid humor, to further enhance his apathy towards that person’s feelings.
However, with individuals with whom he’s grown fond, his demeanor is a little less flippant. He doesn’t hesitate to crack his patented twisted, sarcastic smirk and let loose a rather witty welcoming retort. He’s not exactly warm about it, but it’s all in good humor.
This, of course, doesn’t change that he’s an absolute monster.
COLORS;
Tumblr media
SCENTS;
His scent is always dependent on the time of day or the activities he’s recently been into—many aromas to go with his many faces.
There is his natural scent—musky, woody, a forest after a rain. He dares not wear any cologne or perfume, as it would be too distracting. His olfactory senses are like an assistant in orienting himself, locating and memorizing things and people with relative ease.
He might smell like parchment and ink—a library filled with old books and dust, during his academic phases.
At times he smells very clean—too clean, like a doctor’s emergency room that’s been scrubbed clean. Very surgical, soapy, laced with just a hint of formaldehyde.
It is true, however, that there is always this underlying smell to him. It’s a combination of distinct elements—copper and iron, along with something like charcoal, ashy and burnt. Subtle but nonetheless obviously bitter if you linger close enough. As though it’s seeped into his skin after all of these years.
CLOTHING;
Like his public behavior, Kimbley finds it important that appearance reflect his cold, precise sophistication. He’s often found wearing suits in respectable, neutral colors—various shades of black and grey (though never white, obviously)—or bold, bloody reds. Whatever the case, he makes sure the colors of his overall outfit with matching undershirt and tie are balanced and pleasing to the eye. His shoes are always well-shined and fancy. On trips away from Dublith, his hands are always encased in thin, black leather gloves—practical and fashionable.
Uneventful, casual days call for less strict outfits—a black sleeveless shirt, relaxed slacks. He’s quite fond of suspenders, actually.
Then, of course, there are his many “disguises.” As someone who loves to deceive for the pure pleasure of it, he’s collected quite the collection of wigs, makeup, official uniforms, and silken dresses. Running around like this, however, is not something he regularly engages in—but it never hurts to have distractions on hand when he feels things are growing a little too mundane.
Despite his attire, he has two accessories that he is nearly always found wearing: one of the Red Stones that he keeps on his person, sometimes as a necklace tucked beneath his shirt, and his golden hair ribbon.
OBJECTS;
Most of the objects he deems “important” are ones he keeps in the secret safe in his room. There aren’t very many, but he takes excellent care of them:
The Red Stones that he has been working to develop in his default post-FMA verse. There are several of these stashed away, though he only keeps one on him at a time.
Books—specifically, in this case, two: A green one labeled “BOTANY” in gold letters, the other a personal journal, for taking various notes. The “botany” book appears to be just that, but is in fact a copy of his original alchemy notes he lost after his imprisonment, though much neater and more precise. It’s handwritten and is accompanied by various lovely and detailed illustrations. The journal is brown leather-bound, the pages within a tan off-white. The information therein alternates between the same neat print and loopy, dreadful cursive, depending on how quickly he needed to jot down whatever was on his mind. Notes might include random musings, specific events, or ideas for various narratives.
A photograph. It is of his father and himself when he was just a young boy. He curses his sentimentality for holding onto this.
VICES / BAD HABITS;
Torture and murder. It’s not so much a compulsion as a great source of joy for him, hence why he engages in being a horrible monster on a regular basis. Ask him, and he’ll give a grandiose philosophical reason behind why it gives him such awful pleasure.
Maintaining a horrible sleep schedule. He’s always getting himself into something—whether it’s reading, writing, or having a night of raucous debauchery—so he’s one of those “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” sort of people.
Stealing. Because why not?
Needless cruelty. Just like murder, he doesn’t have any tic compelling him to do it—he simply greatly enjoys it. This will include anything from being a condescending jerk to purposefully lying to hurt someone. Again, because why not?
BODY LANGUAGE;
Every one of Kimbley’s movements is measured and exact in order to reflect exactly what he wants people to perceive of him.
When around people who believe him the charming gentleman, he makes sure his posture is relaxed and disarming—hands casually in his pockets or clasped in front of him, a stance that displays confidence but is not outwardly aggressive.
In the presence of those he intends to intimidate, his poses are much more threatening. He tends to loom quite a bit, hovering in order to make people uncomfortable around him. Making sure the people who would oppose him know that he is maliciousness is, to him, imperative.
Around his familiars, his habits are a mixture of the previous two—displaying his charm and confidence, but also making sure that that air of danger  is unmistakable.
In terms of speaking habits, his hands are often in constant motion; he has a habit of fidgeting, though it’s hardly out of nervousness or impatience. He simply likes putting his hands to work, and often when he is behind the counter at the Devil’s Nest, he spends his time cleaning glasses, the table, even his nails.  These gestures are not grand, of course, unless he is aware he should emphasize a point, in which case, he moves from subtle to exaggerated.
AESTHETICS;
Surgical equipment—pristine, shining in the light, and neatly organized on a silver tray.
The sound of a building collapsing after an explosion.
A starless night, illuminated by a brilliant blood moon.
Libraries filled with poetry, biographies, and anatomy books.
The smell of lilies growing from a rotting corpse.
SONGS;
Escape from Midwich Valley - Carpenter Brut
Taxidermy - Sharon Needles
Operate - Peaches
Humans Are Such Easy Prey - Perturbator
halo - Collide
Everybody Knows You're High, 2/4 (Rajila) - Dartmouth420
“And on the deck while I waited for her to get dressed, I sparked up another one and I was such a mess that I confess that my professor wouldn’t look me in the eye…”
Summary: Raja has a great time at her philosophy class this week, Manila strategically turns the whole situation into a joke, but their attempts to one-up each other go a little too far…
A/N: this chapter is dedicated to the term ‘making out,’ and how vague and ridiculous it is lmao. thank you V&albatross for the shoutout!
tw: weed
Raja forgot that it was a Tuesday and smoked a huge blunt just after noon, before remembering that she had to leave for class in fifteen minutes. Uh oh.
But luckily Professor A. O’Hara’s philosophy class was a lecture and that meant Raja didn’t need to participate, she could just sit in the low-lit room, stare at the slides and let the words wash over her. Which was totally doable while high. Also, Manila was in that class, so Raja didn’t want to skip it.
Pleasantly hazy, Raja threw an open button-up shirt over her tank top, wandered over to Manila’s house a few doors down and knocked on the door.
Manila answered, her face pink and sweaty, her fantastic legs clad in neon green leggings.
“I just got back from the gym,” said Manila, “I still need to change, just give me a sec-“
“Sure,” said Raja, leaning casually against the porch railing. Manila looked pretty cute, all warm and sweaty like that. Raja reached into her front pocket and found a tiny little joint she must have forgotten in there the last time she’d worn this shirt.
Well, she was already high, so why the hell not? Raja sighed happily, thanking whatever deities had decided to smile upon her today as she fished her lighter out of her shorts, and lit up.
Manila came back out a few minutes later, in a neat little corduroy skirt that hugged her hips, shirt tucked in, and said, “Oh my god, are you getting high right now?”
“Yeah,” replied Raja, happy and content, “I forgot it was Tuesday and started earlier, figured I may as well lean in, right?”
Manila rolled her eyes and shook her head, then locked the door.
They walked together to campus in the warm sun, and Raja began to feel soft, even a little loopy, like she needed to slow down…
“Hurry up, we’re going to be late,” urged Manila, walking ahead of her.
“Nah, just slow down a bit,” murmured Raja in response. The sun was catching in Manila’s hair again, the black curls shining with an almost reddish-orange highlight.
“Are you related to any gingers?” asked Raja, blithely.
“Uh, my uncle on my mom’s side,” replied Manila, “And so is one of my cousins. Why?”
“Your hair has this kinda red highlight in the sun…”
Manila laughed and it was a happy sound that Raja quite liked. But then Manila went behind Raja and pushed her, her hands on Raja’s back as she hustled her rapidly down the sidewalk, which Raja liked a little less. They finally got into the building and managed to make it to class with only seconds to spare.
Raja entered the dark room, supremely comfortable and chill, and took her usual seat. Manila sat next to her, taking out her neat little notebook and pen to take notes. She was so organized, Raja admired that about her.
Professor O’Hara greeted the class and hit the lights to begin the lecture. Raja smiled and nodded and basked in the weird glow of the PowerPoint while Manila diligently took notes next to her. The words washed over them both.
After the lecture was done and the lights turned back on, Professor O’Hara took questions from the class. Raja found she had a question too, and raised her hand.
“Don’t draw attention to yourself-“ hissed Manila next to her, trying to grab Raja’s hand and force it back down.
But Professor O’Hara has already addressed her, so Raja batted Manila off and opened her mouth.
“Uh, so…” began Raja, leaning forward and putting her chin in her hand, pausing for what she was sure was only a couple seconds. An amused murmur rippled through the crowd. “So, when Plato talks about you know, duality, what if-“
Raja wasn’t sure where she was going with her question, but she was confident it was going somewhere, and kept talking. Professor O’Hara had an amused expression on her face, and pressed her lips together, not quite making eye contact. Next to Raja, Manila slid lower in her seat and shielded her eyes with her hand.
“…so like, isn’t that connected to Aristotle’s original idea about being?” finished Raja.
Muffled laughter sounded throughout the class. What was so funny?
Professor O’Hara blinked, and cocked her head to the side, then said, “Well, to everyone’s surprise that’s actually an excellent question, Raja-“ and proceeded to answer it.
Raja glowed with the praise, nodding her head slowly as Professor O’Hara answered her question, and further elaborated on the content of the lecture, which inspired more questions from the class. Raja remained pleasantly blazed. Coming to class like this had been a great idea after all-
Soon enough it was over, and Raja yawned, sleepy, and stretched as Manila put her things back in her bag.
“Raja,” said Manila with resignation, hoisting her backpack to her shoulder, while the rest of the class filed out around them, throwing amused glances in Raja’s direction, “Everybody knows you’re high.”
“Mmm…” replied Raja, content, getting up from her seat and tripping a little on the edge of the chair, “Yeah, this time I don’t care.”
-
The problem with Raja, considered Manila as they walked back down the street together after class and Raja prattled away, happy and stoned, was that from the day they’d met Manila wanted throw her against the wall, furiously make out with her, have insanely hot sex in every imaginable way, move in together, start their lives, be completely and utterly in love, have like four kids and three dogs, raise them, retire, get old, and die together.
Obviously that was a little much.
Manila had quickly learned that her desperate fantasy seemed to be the exact opposite of what Raja was looking for. Raja’s priorities seemed to consist of getting stoned, getting laid, playing video games and going to class. Apparently in that order. So, they became good friends instead, along with Delta and Carmen, and had an excellent friendship that involved terrible humour, petty competition, and affectionately roasting one another to death. Given that Raja had never shown any romantic interest in her, Manila did her best to shove her feelings to the back of her mind. She wasn’t going to ruin a great friendship with her idiotic feelings, god forbid!
So, not that Raja randomly asking her to make out the other day had thrown Manila’s world off its axis anything, just… ugh.
They kept walking, and Raja kept talking to herself. Admittedly, she was making some great points about Plato.
“Carmen’s kinda mad at you, by the way,” said Raja, turning to her. Her deep brown eyes were a little bloodshot, but still shockingly intense and beautiful.
“Why?” asked Manila, glancing at the blue, open sky instead. It was a lovely day.
“‘Cause you unlocked metallic Peach the other day. She wanted to unlock metallic Peach.”
“Tell her the day she beats me at literally one round of Smash Bros is the day I’ll stop unlocking stuff for her,” said Manila.
“This is just as bad as the Mario Kart Incident last April,” said Raja, who was still looking at her, and then added, in an apparent non-sequitur, “Hey, has anyone ever told you you’re like really pretty?”
“Yeah, my mom,” replied Manila sarcastically, but her heart beat a little faster with the compliment.
“No, come on!” replied Raja, with a blissed-out expression and a goofy smile, “You are, though. Your hair is like so nice-“
Manila didn’t know what to say. Getting this kind of attention from Raja wasn’t something she’d anticipated happening, it was making her feel vulnerable and a little turned on, and she wanted to believe that it meant something… but doubt congealed in her stomach. It didn’t mean anything beyond a casual, well-intentioned, platonic expression of attraction. This was just how Raja was.
“Shut up!” laughed Manila semi-hysterically, impulsively pushing Raja in response. Raja was stoned and off-balance enough that she tripped and fell into the neighbour’s garden with an indignant squawk. Manila felt bad for a split second, then laughed out loud.
“Hey!” protested Raja, picking herself up from the enormous hosta plant she’d fallen into, her long black hair in her face, “I thought you liked me!”
“I do like you, you don’t need to worry about that!” said Manila over her shoulder, maintaining a joking attitude and walking up the steps to her house.
“You’re the worst,” whined Raja, making a face, then flipping her off in a friendly goodbye. Manila returned the gesture.
Manila went inside and got a snack from the kitchen, said hi to her roommate Shangela who’d just gotten out of the shower, and went into her room. Manila dropped her backpack to the ground and flopped down on her bed.
It was simple: Raja was blazed as usual and messing with her, that was all. But if there was anything Manila was good at, it was messing with people in return.
-
Raja wasn’t used to being rejected. She was, after all, very cool, extremely sexy, highly intelligent and always had weed. Clearly a catch! But apparently not to Manila. Raja knew Manila liked her, Manila had specifically said so the other day! They were already friends, they understood each other’s humour, and they hung out regularly, which was half the battle when it came to getting involved with somebody, even casually.
So, at Morgan’s Hallowe’en party, Raja found herself on the enormous, crumby couch, passing a blunt back and forth with Manila and several others. Some mid-2000s hip hop music played in the background, and way too many people were packed into the space in ridiculous costumes. Manila was pressed in next to her on the crowded couch. Earlier Raja had noted Raven somewhere at the other end of the house, pointedly ignoring her, which was ideal.
Manila somehow managed to look incredibly cute while dressed as Weird Al Yankovic, fake moustache and all, which was a feat in and of itself. Raja was dressed as Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, because she related to him on a spiritual level, and already had the sunglasses for it. Their dumb costumes even matched, both featuring ugly Hawaiian shirts. Manila was cracking a joke with Carmen on her other side, and Raja figured this was as good an opportunity as any. Raja slung a casual arm around Manila, passed the blunt back to her and whispered in her ear, “Do you wanna make out?”
Manila put the blunt to her lips and inhaled deeply, the end glowing orange as Raja waited with anticipation for her answer, excitement mounting in her stomach.
With a smirk, Manila blew a lungful of smoke into Raja’s face, then she rested her hand on Raja’s thigh, and leaned in. Raja’s heartbeat accelerated.
Manila shut her eyes and Raja shut hers too, barely able to believe it was happening. Manila’s lips brushed against hers, soft, thrilling, just the barest hint of contact-
Manila pulled back abruptly, and Raja opened her eyes, confused.
Manila gave her an absolutely shit-eating grin and declared, “Nope!”
Raja’s jaw, along with her mood, dropped with disappointment. An odd moment passed between them. Through her haze Raja realized, with Manila’s shit-eating grin and her hand on still suggestively on her thigh, that Manila was mocking her. Raja, totally stoned, asking her to make out with for a second time with the exact same line had inevitably, painfully, become a joke.
Raja huffed, insulted, and turned away. Manila cackled.
On Raja’s other side someone new sat down, a pretty, athletic and tanned girl with dirty blonde hair, her amazing body in clad in what was basically red lingerie and devil horns. Raja recognized her, she was that girl a year or two below them who went running with Manila sometimes. She was laughing, her head thrown back, at something another blonde beside her was saying.
Raja tapped her on the shoulder and said, “Hey, you’re cute, do you wanna make out?”
The girl blinked at her in shock, and then grinned, and said, “Uh, oh my god, yeah.”
“Great.”
“Damn, you’re so direct, I’ve had a crush on you like forev-”
Raja ignored her, took her face in her hands and leaned in. Their lips met and the girl let out an excited gasp. She tasted like Jack Daniels and smelled like tropical perfume. Nice. And she was a great kisser, with an enthusiastic and knowing tongue. The girl’s warm hands immediately went to Raja’s shoulders. Around them a few people oohed and laughed, and Raja caressed the girl’s lower back and practically pulled her into her lap. Raja’s bucket hat fell off the back of her head.
Manila was still laughing at something on Raja’s other side, but her laughter stopped abruptly, and Raja felt the couch shift as Manila stood up. Raja broke the kiss for a moment and glanced over her shoulder in time to see Manila stomp away, furious jealousy in every line of her body, throwing her fake glasses to the floor.
That’s right, burn.
Smug, Raja went back to making out with the blonde chick in her lap, their hands wandering all over each other until someone yelled at them to get a room. May as well. Raja got up and led the girl into Morgan’s messy bedroom and shut the door.
“You know you’re like a legend around here, right?” chuckled the blonde girl, grasping the edge of Raja’s shirt and pulling her down onto the bed with her, “By the way, my name’s Willam-”
“That’s nice,” replied Raja, crawling on top of her, kissing her neck and getting down to business.
-
It became an inside joke.
Manila had barely managed to pull it off, because coming so close to kissing Raja had been horribly thrilling, (electric, overwhelming, transcendent), and she’d wanted so badly for it to be real, to be anything other than just a stoned-and-low-key-horny suggestion on Raja’s part-
So, despite Manila’s burst of jealousy over Raja’s makeout session at the Hallowe’en party with Willam, her gym buddy of all people, their friendship remained strong and uninterrupted. Manila didn’t hold it against Willam either, who’d been all too happy to talk about it at their next cardio and gossip session, because Raja was generally irresistible. Manila sure as hell wasn’t going to let it get to her. After all, this kind of thing was in the nature of a friendship that largely consisted of roasting each other to death over a high-octane flame.
As the week passed the joke got even funnier. Raja got over sulking about it, and started purposefully asking Manila to make out at the most hilarious, awkward, and inopportune times.
For example:
Playing Smash Bros at Raja’s house late on a Saturday night with Delta and Carmen, everybody squashed on the couch: “Can we make out if I win?” “As if you’d ever beat me, bitch.” “It’s true Raja, you kind of suck at Nintendo-” “Shut up!”
Hollered across the quad, much to Manila’s embarrassment and Raja’s enjoyment, in front of a crowd of freshman, “Hey Manila, you wanna come over here and make out!?” “Go shove your tongue down somebody else’s throat!” “Aw, rude!”
In the hallway after class, just as Professor O’Hara walked by, loudly: “Wanna come back to my place and make out?” “Oh my god, Raja!” “Ladies.” “Sorry, professor!”
Whispered in the library, “Do you wanna go into the stacks and make out?” “Write your essay.” “I’m done, though-“ “What, already!?”
Even Delta and Carmen got in on it, and Manila had to dodge the question from them too. Teasing, sexy requests of, Hey, wanna make out, Manila? followed her around, as Manila clapped back hilarious retorts to gales of laughter. It was fun and Manila rode the wave of attention with aplomb.
Manila figured that this particular’s joke’s shelf life would only last as long as any other and would soon fade into oblivion, replaced by whatever came next, and Manila would never have to address or bring to light her feelings for Raja.
In her opinion, she’d handled the situation perfectly. And Manila praised herself for it as she ran her usual route, glancing up at Raja’s house as she ran by.
But every night before she fell asleep, a little voice tugged at the back of her brain and said, maybe you shouldn’t mock people when they express attraction to you, that’s kind of fucked up, and she’s your friend, maybe she actually does like you back- Manila aggressively quashed it.
-
“Hey, so,” said Raja, on the way to the library with Manila to buckle down and write their philosophy papers together as the end of term approached, “Why don’t you want to make out with me? Like, I’m a total catch.”
It hadn’t previously occurred to her to ask, but maybe this would help her get a leg up on the situation. Ideally Manila’s leg. Ideally up on her shoulder while Raja ate her out, and Manila blushed pink like she sometimes did, and tangled her hands in Raja’s hair, and gasped and arched her back and- that was neither here nor there. As hilarious as it was, the joke had been driving Raja a little insane. If Manila had said, in any seriousness, that she wanted Raja to stop asking, Raja would have. But she hadn’t, Manila had leaned in to the silly, flirtatious back and forth.
Instead of forgetting about it, the endless teasing and parody of the matter had only reinforced what Raja wanted in the first place.
“Well,” said Manila after a pause, adjusting her heavy bag and glancing at the cloudy sky, “You don’t take school very seriously.”
“What?” laughed Raja, who’d been expecting something more along the lines of I’m genuinely not attracted to you or I think I want to date guys again, “Is that really it? I totally do!”
“No you don’t, you’re a huge stoner.”
“Yeah but thats just for fun, I’m like really smart,” replied Raja, grinning, “You should see my GPA.”
“Mmm no, you’re real dumb,” sassed Manila. She shook her head and her curly hair, up in a high ponytail again today, bounced with the motion and Raja wanted to run her fingers through it. “You’re a total goofball and everyone knows it. You show up to class high! I have like a 3.82, and I want to keep it there.”
“How would making out with me affect your grades?”
“They say you are what you eat…”
They both exploded into laughter, causing the other students walking down the busy campus path to throw irritated glances their way.
“Bitch,” replied Raja, elbowing her, “A 3.82 is nothing-”
“Hey, no,” protested Manila, stopping and turning to her, “It’s like really good, don’t talk down my accomplishments just because you’re jealous-“
“I have a 3.91.”
Manila opened and shut her mouth in shock, before responding, “No you don’t, you’re lying.”
“No I’m not.”
“Prove it.”
“Sure,” chuckled Raja, taking out her phone and going to the school website, launching the grading centre, pulling up her current transcript and grade point average, “Look.”
Raja handed Manila her phone, gloating. The screen read 3.91847. Manila took it and her eyes narrowed, and she scrolled up to check that it was actually Raja’s name at the top, then back down again.
“Guess I do take school seriously,” taunted Raja, unable to suppress the urge to tease her.
With unexpected force, Manila shoved the phone back into Raja’s hands.
“Whatever!” snapped Manila, rushing ahead furiously.
“Hey, where are you going?” called Raja after her, laughing, “Don’t be mad just ‘cause I get better grades than you-“
“I’ll see you at the library!” snarled Manila over her shoulder, power walking down the street.
Raja watched Manila walk away, pleased that she’d proven her wrong her but confused as to why she was so mad. Raja wandered into the little smoking area with a couple of scraggly trees and fished in her bag for a tiny joint she’d hidden there earlier. She found it and lit up, inhaling the comforting smoke. Just a little something to help get those creative and intellectual juices flowing…
-
After a few hours of work in the library while Raja pumped dreamwave tunes through her headphones directly into her skull and wrote her philosophy paper, she looked up and noticed Manila sighing deeply for like the fourth time.
“What’s up?” whispered Raja, taking her headphones off.
“Nothing,” whispered Manila back. Her eyebrows were scrunched together.
“Are you mad at me?”
“No.”
“Fine.”
Raja put her headphones back on, without music, and wrote a few more sentences, pausing to check her references. She was going to get a hundred percent on this paper, she already knew it. Raja had been a bit of a child prodigy in terms of reading and writing comprehension, and her memory, her research skills, her grasp of history, literature, sociology and philosophy were outstanding. Her two dads were loving and supportive hippies who let her do whatever she wanted, so her sense of freedom and confidence had soared throughout her college career along with her grades.
“I can’t believe you have a higher GPA than me,” complained Manila, under her breath.
Raja took her headphones off again and gloated, “Yep, this huge stoner right here is better at school than you.”
Manila glared at her, then sighed again. Raja smirked, but her face fell, because Manila actually looked sad. And tired. There were lines under her eyes. Sympathy tugged at Raja’s stomach.
“Well, a 3.82 is really good,” began Raja, shutting her laptop and leaning forward, “Like, it’s above average-”
“Don’t be patronizing,” said Manila, shaking her head, closing her laptop and gathering up her books, “I can’t work on this anymore, let’s head out.”
“Okay, sure,” said Raja, getting up. A few people at other tables were glaring at them anyway, angry about the interruption of the silence. Raja wanted to make Manila feel better, and wondered how.
They left the library, walking together through the dark evening in the direction of home. It was a clear night, and the stars were just visible. Raja dug around in her bag for a joint but couldn’t find one.
“I have that good spicy instant ramen and Cheetos at home,” suggested Raja after a few minutes, “It’s not that late if you want to come over.“
“So we can make out?” added Manila sarcastically.
“No,” replied Raja, “Just to like decompress, I dunno, I’m hungry, I thought you might be too…”
“Do you ever eat vegetables?”
“Weed is a plant.”
Manila laughed and shook her head.
“What’s bothering you?” pressed Raja.
“I try like, really hard,” said Manila, after a pause, “I take college seriously, and my parents have such high expectations of me, I just- I put so much work into it and you-” Manila gestured at her, “You fucking coast, Raja. Look at yourself. You get stoned all the time, you party and play Nintendo. And honestly, you treat the girls you date like they’re disposable, Raven’s reaction wasn’t that unreasonable… but everyone still likes you, you somehow have a perfect GPA and you look amazing-”
“Yeah, I do look amazing,” agreed Raja, with a smile. She decided to ignore the middle part of what Manila had said.
“-and you have the self-awareness of a fruit bat.”
Raja looked carefully at Manila. Her expression was tired and frustrated, the orange glow of the streetlight catching in her hair. Despite the way they constantly roasted one another, Raja cared about her, and it saddened her to hear that Manila was feeling the pressure of… well, everything.
Self-awareness. Hmm. Raja could work on that. Maybe that was the key to getting Manila to see that she wasn’t joking, that Raja genuinely, unexpectedly, to her own surprise, really liked her.
“So,” said Raja, as they approached her house, the living room light shining like a beacon, indicating that Delta or Carmen was still up, “Instant ramen and Cheetos? You can kick my ass at Smash Bros, that always makes you feel better.”
“You know what, sure,” replied Manila, rolling her eyes, a smile at the edge of her mouth, “I’m gonna hand you your ass on a silver platter, bitch. Especially since you always insist on playing as Yoshi for some reason…”
Raja smiled to herself as they went up the front steps to her door.
Makeup Products for Beginner
Whether you're new to makeup or have been experimenting with it for years, having a collection of beauty essentials that will help you to create a go-to everyday look is key. It's a lot easier to add fun or fashionable makeup products to your collection and incorporate them into your beauty looks once you've mastered the basics.
Tumblr media
Makeup Essentials – Face:
1. Face Primer
While some people believe that face primer isn't necessary, I consider it to be an essential part of my makeup procedure.
Face primers have a variety of impacts on your face and makeup, but their main goal is to keep your skin smooth and your makeup appearing fresh all day. Whether you're searching for a product to regulate oil and/or acne, hydrate, smooth out uneven texture, colour correct, or anything else, there's a primer for you.
Tumblr media
2. Foundation
Foundation is undoubtedly the most difficult component of your makeup regimen to master, because you must consider not only the level of coverage you like (sheer/natural, medium, or full), but also your skin type and undertones.
If you're new to foundation or aren't sure which type or shade is best for you, I recommend visiting your local Sephora, MAC, or department store and having a makeup artist assist you in selecting one that matches your skin tone and meets your coverage requirements. Requesting a sample is also a smart idea if you want to check how a formula feels on your skin before purchasing it.
Even if you prefer to buy foundation at a drugstore, I recommend that you get matched at a higher-end store first. This will help you figure out which colours to look for.
Tumblr media
3. BB Cream
I prefer BB cream to traditional foundation because it gives a more natural appearance. If you're searching for a product with skincare advantages like moisturizing or priming, this is an excellent choice (some BB creams have primer built in).
Furthermore, if you are new to makeup, a good BB cream is a better place to start than foundation because it feels lighter on the skin, is difficult to overdo, and can be applied with your fingers.One significant disadvantage of BB creams is that they typically come in limited shade ranges and do not cater to darker skin tones.
Tumblr media
4. Concealer
Concealer is a must-have if you have acne, dark circles, or any other type of discoloration.Concealers are available in full-coverage and sheerer-coverage formulations, and which one you should use depends on how much you want to conceal.
When selecting a concealer for acne and/or discoloration, choose a shade that is as close to your foundation/BB cream shade as possible for the most natural look.
Dark circles are a little trickier to conceal because there is so much variation in their shades and how they appear on different skin tones, but in general, a peach or pink-toned concealer will do the trick.
Tumblr media
5. Blush
Applying blush can have a significant impact on your overall appearance, and I never leave it out of my makeup routine. Blush is especially important if you're wearing a foundation with more opaque coverage, which can leave your skin looking a little flat. Blush is available in powder, gel, and cream forms, with powder being the most popular. However, cream and gel blush have recently gained popularity.
When selecting a blush colour, choose one that will give you a natural flush. Regardless of your skintone, avoid going too bright or applying with too heavy a hand, as these can make you look clownish.
Pink and peach tones look best on fair-to-medium skin tones, while mauve, purple, and maroon tones look best on darker skin tones.
Tumblr media
6. Highlighter
Highlighter, like many other beauty products, comes in a variety of forms, including powder, cream, liquid, stick, and powder/cream hybrid. Each of these forms has its own set of advantages, but for beginners, I recommend powder or stick because they are the easiest to work with.
My go-to highlighter application technique is to lightly dab it along the bridge of your nose, the tops of your cheekbones, your cupid's bow, and just below your brows. You can even use your highlighter as an eye shadow!
Finally, finding the right shade of highlighter, like finding the perfect shade of foundation, is dependent on your specific skin tone and undertones, so it's a good idea to test out different colours in person if possible.
Tumblr media
7. Bronzer
Using the right shade of bronzer is essential if you want to achieve a sun-kissed look. I suggest going no darker than one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone, and lightly dusting it all over the high points of your face for a healthy glow, or simply in the hollows of your cheeks (below where you'd put your blush) for a more chiseled look. In either case, use a light hand and blend thoroughly.
The choice between matte and shimmery depends on the rest of your look: If you're using all matte products on your face and want to add some radiance, try something with a bit of sparkle. However, if you're already wearing shimmery makeup, stick to a matte formula to avoid shine overload.
Tumblr media
8. Setting Spray/Powder
Setting spray/powder, like face primer, works to keep your makeup in place all day.
There are various formulations available depending on the type of finish you want (matte, radiant, etc.) and what skin care benefits, if any, you want your setting spray/powder to have (e.g. moisturizing, oil-absorbing, etc.). But, if you want your makeup to last, don't skip this step.
Tumblr media
Makeup Essentials – Eyes:
9. Eye Primer
My eye makeup would literally be virtually gone within two or three hours before I started using eye primer, so it's been a lifesaver for me.
Not only should a good eye primer keep your eye makeup from sliding off, fading, and creasing, but it should also have a formulation that keeps colours appearing true to how they should all day.Keep in mind that eye primers aren't just for oily skin–there are a variety of hydrating, color-correcting, and anti-aging formulations in the market.
Tumblr media
10. Eyeshadow
Eye shadow is my favourite cosmetic product, along with highlighter, because it comes in so many various hues and finishes and can be used in so many different ways.Finding makeup colours and tones that match your eye colour is a terrific method to make your eyes stand out.
Always define your crease, regardless of the style you're striving for - from natural to smoky. By blending the shadow into the crease, you may create depth to your eyes and make them appear larger. The key is to use a soft fluffy brush to build up the eye shadow in a back-and-forth motion.
Tumblr media
11. Eye Pencil
If I had to choose only one cosmetics product to wear before leaving the house, it would undoubtedly be eye pencil (or kohl). Because "eyes speak louder than words," I believe they should always be highlighted.
Always begin at the outside corner and work your way inwards while using an eye pencil. Always use tiny strokes and don't be afraid to press the pencil towards the waterline. You will not injure yourself while performing this task. Eye pencils are creamy and silky since they are made with the area in mind where they will be utilized.
Tumblr media
12. Mascara
Mascara has a magical way of bringing your entire eye look together, and it comes in a variety of formulas to lengthen, thicken, and curl your lashes.
Most individuals can get away with black mascara, but if you have really light-colored lashes, you might want to try a brown mascara instead for a more natural effect.
13. Eyeliner
Eyeliner, like mascara, may offer that additional something to truly make your eyes pop.
While black eyeliner is frequently considered a must-have, if you have lighter skin, try brown or dark grey. Eyeliner may be applied in a variety of ways, but my preference is to draw a fine line at the lash line and wing it out just a little beyond my eye.If you want to make your eyelashes look thicker, line the waterline with eyeliner. Eye pencils and kohl products created exclusively for this delicate area are available.
If you're concerned of messing up with liquid eyeliner, I recommend lining your eyes first with a similar-colored eye shadow or pencil liner, then going over that line with the liquid liner.
Makeup Essentials – Lips:
14. Lip Gloss
Lip gloss was popular in the early to mid-2000s, but has lately resurfaced, with trendy brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Glossier, and Fenty Beauty all offering their own variations.
When you're in a hurry, don't have access to a mirror, or when the rest of your makeup is more dramatic and calls for a subtler lip, go for lip gloss.
Tumblr media
 15. Lipstick
You can't dispute that lipstick is having a significant moment right now: whether you prefer a liquid or bullet formula, a glossy, satin, or matte finish, or a glossy, satin, or matte finish, there's a lipstick out there to suit your preferences!
Beginners should start with a colour that is near to their natural lip colour, as this is the easiest to apply and remove.
Once you've mastered that, it's a good idea to invest in a basic red that works with everything and can be worn to class or on special occasions. For a softer look, try a glossy formula or a lip balm, or a matte formula for a more glamorous look.In addition, I recommend wearing a red lip with minimal makeup or none at all.
Monday announcement
Hello!  I have a few announcements to make about Underomit and this Blog page.  Im not here for chit chat, so lets get straight into them! 1) Firstly, I would like to say that I will not be posting art on Mondays. This is simply because I have a job on the weekends, and like to sleep in on Mondays. It is a long task to make art, and if I want to keep this blog consistent and actually alive, then I will not post art on Mondays.
2) Instead of posting art, I will be posting and doing a new thing for me called “Monday announcements” so as to update all my followers, future followers, any random viewers, and friends. The announcements may reign from anything from new art styles, possibility of skipped days, or any changes to my schedule, and MORE. I recommend reading at least the first sentence of every announcement on all posts to know what is going on. If you read the entire thing, thanks, if not, that’s okay!
3) Actual Comic update: I recommend reading this announcement fully. Underomit is a grand au and timeline to share how EVERY single human not only fell into the underground and their experience, but also a more detailed past of Undertale. (In my opinion/imagination, that is). Because of this, I may end up doing multiple stories at once (excluding the last human to fall, frisk.) The first 7 souls’ stories have nothing to do with each other, well they sometimes do, but it isn’t anything really majorly important. I am good at organizing things and what I create first, so any situation where it may relate to a past soul will be dealt with before hand.
-To add onto the last announcement, I understand that depending on the page or panel, it can be confusing to tell what soul is being posted about. Worry not, because I already planned on this even before I started drawing.  To tell the difference between what soul and what story is happening, they will ALL be color coded. Here is the code: Tan/brown/white colors: Chara’s story All of the previous colors and Light blue: Patience’s story All of the previous colors and Orange: Bravery’s story All of the previous colors and Dark blue: Integrity's story All of the previous colors and Pink and Purple: Perseverance's story All of the previous colors and Green: Kindness’s story All of the previous colors and Yellow: Justices story.  To explain this a little more, I will use Integrity's story as an example; Integrity will have all the colors of the previous souls, so, orange, light blue, tan/brown, and white. The further time passes and each human falls, the more the comic will become painted. By time Justice falls, all colors will be there except red and black, which will come with Frisk. Which, the last part of the color code, is... All previous colors and Red: Frisk All pervious color and Black: Frisk in genocide
--and add on to the add on: (not necessarily important and can skip if you don't need more details about the colors) Chara’s color coding is a bit difficult, and you may notice hues of red, orange and green. Right now it may seem like Chara's story may get confused, but do not worry. These hues are simply here to show light and shading. No other human souls (when they fall) will be using the same hues to shade or highlight. The reason I was forced to resort to these colors is because the fact that is it hard for me to differentiate hundreds of tans and browns apart from each other, so unless they are extremely noticeable, it is impossible for me to see a difference. The only other two soul that may also resort in this problem is justice’s soul, yellow, as I also find it hard to tell yellows apart. However, because justice is the second to last soul to fall, there should be enough previous colors to not make a difference. The other soul would be perseverance with Purple, same problem. So, to grant myself freedom from this problem, Pink will be added at that same time (considering there is no pink soul, this seems fair.) You may notice a similar theme with other souls as colors are added in the idea of two colors. For example, black and grey/silver. yellow and gold, orange and peach (which is a pink/orange mix). Just note that most colors will stick to the actual theme, and any hues (like peach) will simply be for specific items that I find difficult to color, shade, or highlight.
- Another add on to announcement number three again, keep in mind that this is an AU (Alternative/Alternate Universe). While it is mostly a parallel AU, it is not the exact same (which some people may have even noticed already, with dialogue, and all). The most differences will come with Frisks story after all the other 7 human souls stories have been put to rest. Including not only interaction differences, but also game differences.
4) Lastly, but not least, I will try my best to get a new comic panel out tomorrow, but as someone with aphantasia, my physical drawing ideas are near to none. Basically, I cant draw for sh*t and I'm “out of pictured ideas”. I still know how half the human souls stories will fully go, but not in picture, just in word. Also don’t be surprised if it is a new story because trying to draw Toriel for Chara, is a PITA and it annoyed me so I kind of gave up last Friday.....
Thank you all for reading and listening to todays announcement, and there will probably (most defiantly) be more next week on Monday!
-Edit
5) Something I forgot to mention, you can also tell what story it is by looking at the tags. All of Chara’s story will have #storyofchara, and #thebrownsoul. In this post I will add on all tags that I will be making (and claiming) for such organization purposes. Be careful reading these because they will in fact spoil the names of each soul :)
Chara: #thebrownsoul - #thestoryofchara Patience: #thelightbluesoul - #thelbsoul - #thestoryofsabri Bravery: #theorangesoul - #thestoryofeverett  Integrity: #thedarkbluesoul - #thedbsoul - #thestoryofjati Perseverance: #thepurplesoul - #thestoryofsisu Kindness: #thegreensoul - #thestoryofellis Justice: #theyellowsoul - #thestoryofzuzen Frisk: #theredsoul - #thestoryoffrisk Frisk geocide: #theblacksoul - #thestoryoffrisk
Unexpected Encounters. Chapter 1: Families and Children
It was a normal day in the city of Japan, in one of the airports of the city a plane from the city of Zootopia just arrived. In it, people who have just come to the country came either for vacations or for other reasons.
Among the people getting off the plane was a red fox with green eyes wearing a green button-down shirt, brown pants, and a blue tie; a gray rabbit with purple eyes wearing a red and white and gray plaid shirt; another gray rabbit with blue eyes that had black stripes on its face that joined at the back of its head that was wearing a white button-down shirt, black pants, black tie and a black jacket; and lastly a brown fennec fox with light brown eyes wearing a black shirt with a red stripe and olive green pants.
These were nothing more and nothing less than two of the Zootopia police officers Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, known as the first fox and the first rabbit in the Zootopia police forces, Jack Savage, the best known secret agent of his agency, and Finnick, an old friend of Nick's who helped out on many undercover missions.
But the four of them weren't coming. Behind them came 2 children: One was a gray and light brown vixen with green eyes, wearing a red shirt, a yellow skirt and a blue bow on her head. The other was a gray rabbit that had black stripes on his face that joined at the back of his head, he wore a light blue shirt and brown pants.
These two children are named Nicole Wilde and Jerry Savage, they are half siblings and at the same time twins. Nicole is the daughter of Nick and Judy, while Jerry is the son of Jack and Judy. They are both 4 years old and each was standing on either side of their mother.
Some time ago Nick and Jack had fallen in love with Judy and they did everything possible to make Judy fall in love with one of them, without either of them knowing that the other was in love with her until the day they both confessed. After several unforeseen and very long counting situations one night, Nick, Judy and Jack ended up having a threesome which led to Judy getting pregnant. After Nick and Jack realized this, they decided to help Judy, since in the end they didn't know which of the two the unborn child could be and they felt responsible. When Judy gave birth, they realized to their surprise that they were twins and that the girl was a vixen that looked like Nick and the boy was a rabbit that looked like Jack. From that moment on the five began to be an unusual family, but over time they got used to it, although despite being a happy family there was never an official marriage Nick, Judy and Jack, but they lived in concubinage. They were even quite close that Nicole and Jerry referred to both Nick and Jack as their parents without any distinction and even Nick and Jack treated both children as their children without distinction from one to the other. The only thing they lacked was a stable home, as the whole family rotated between the small apartments of Nick, Judy and Jack to live until they could buy a house big enough for all of them, fortunately they already lacked little money to get it.
Finnick on his side when he heard the news of the birth of the children and upon meeting them, they became very fond of him and began to refer to him as their honorary uncle, even letting out a side of him that even Nick didn't know and surprised him when he passed time with the kids, it was like I was someone other than the grumpy one he knew. Because of that, Finnick had become so close to the family that when Nick, Judy, and Jack went out to work, he stayed behind to babysit.
Now, the reason they were in Japan, was because after several years of service in the agency Jack was given the opportunity to take a vacation paid by the agency to anywhere in the world, and he could bring companions, it is which is why Nick, Judy, Finnick, Nicole and Jerry came with him. And the reason they came to that country is because once Jack was there during a mission and he loved the country that he wanted to visit it again and he was sure that his companions would love this country.
"Well, now that we are here, where is the hotel where we will be staying?" Nick asked.
"It's not far, it's closer to a company called Carrier Man Trading Co., Ltd. It's quite comfortable and cozy," replied Jack.
"If it's more comfortable than my truck, it will have my approval," Finnick said.
At that moment, Nicole and Jerry were drinking some water in a fountain that was a few steps from where Judy was standing, when they finished they were about to return to their mother when they suddenly found two small objects right behind the fountain. They were two brilliant emeralds the size of their hands. One was red and the other was blue. Nicole took the red one and Jerry took the blue one. They were so beautiful that they decided to keep them. They looked the two jewels, realizing that no one was looking for them so they put them in their pockets. Nick, Judy, Jack, and Finnick didn't realize what the children found at the time.
"Well, we'd better take a taxi to the hotel," Judy said, taking each of the children with her hands.
When everyone finally left the airport with their bags in hand, Jack hailed a taxi. Most were surprised that in that country people were driving the opposite way to where they were driving in Zootopia. After putting the suitcases in the trunk, they all got in. Finnick sat down next to the driver. While Nick, Judy and Jack in the backseat, with Nicole on Nick's lap and Jerry on Jack's lap.
After they were ready, the taxi left the airport in the direction of the hotel.
...
In another part of the same city, children were found playing in a park while their parents watched them. In a specific place in the park there was a grayish-brown and gray hyena, wearing a black and red striped shirt, black pants, a black leather jacket and black boots; an orange, white and brown red-panda, wearing a peach sweater, a white and brown plaid skirt, and black shoes; a orange, white and brow red-maned-wolf, wearing a black shirt, white jacket, blue pants, and yellow shoes, also wore a gold watch on his left wrist; a light beige fennec vixen wearing a light blue turtleneck, gray skirt, black socks and brown boots; a white secretary bird with some orange and yellow feathers, wearing a blue sweater, white pants, and white shoes; and finally a gray gorilla, who wore a white dress with a red scarf and white shoes.
These were workers from Carrier Man Trading Co., Ltd who were on their day off: Haida, Retsuko, Ookami and Fenneko who worked in the accounting area, Washimi who was the CEO's secretary, and Gori who is the director of marketing. Haida and Retsuko were married just like Ookami and Fenneko were also married. Washimi and Gori who were longtime friends and friends with Retsuko, ended up becoming friends with Haida, Fenneko, and Ookami in recent years.
At that moment two children approached them: One was a brown and gray red-panda in, wearing a black and red striped shirt, and blue pants. The other was a cream, white, and brown hybrid that had the eyes, head shape, arms, legs, and height of a red-wolf, while it had the muzzle, nose, tail, and ear of a fennec; she was wearing a light blue T-shirt and grayish blue pants.
These two children are named Koka and Hana. They were best friends and had a little crush on each other. Koka was the son of Haida and Retsuko, while Hana was the daughter of Ookami and Fenneko. They were both 6 years old and were playing together in a sandbox building sand castles.
A few years ago after leaving the group of OTMGirls and having returned to work in the company, Retsuko and Haida began to be closer at first as a relationship of best friends, but with the passage of time Retsuko decided to give a chance to Haida and realized that he was more attentive and respected her decisions than what she wanted for the future. It was like this that after dating for a while, and after a night of passion Retsuko got pregnant, after finding out about that having talked to Haida he proposed to her and they married shortly before Koka was born. Since then they are a happy family with their son. Even Retsuko's mother and grandmother visit them very often and even the relationship with Retsuko and her mother has improved, the only thing that still stresses her are the situations she experiences at work.
On the other hand, Ookami and Fenneko was more surprising, since they have never revealed when they started dating or how it happened, but Retsuko and Haida assume that it was at some point when Retsuko returned to work. And they only discovered them when Retsuko and Haida once caught them going home together holding hands a few days after they got off work. It was because of this that Ookami started dating Haida, Retsuko, Washimi, and Gori more often. As with Haida and Retsuko, during a night of passion between the two Fenneko became pregnant and after revealing it to Ookami, he proposed to her and they married before Hana was born.
They had all gathered to have a day of relaxation, and they had been in the park all morning, as it was already noon, they decided to go to lunch.
"Koka, Hana. Come on, it's time to go" said the parents.
"We're coming" they both responded in unison.
Koka and Hana had found two emeralds buried in the sand that were brightly colored. Koka had a green one and Hana had a yellow one. They wondered who could have lost them in a place like that. But since they liked them, they decided to keep them, so they put them in their pockets.
Once they were reunited with the six adults, they held hands with their respective mothers.
"I heard about a restaurant that just opened recently, and it even has an area for the children to play and have fun," Washimi said as she showed them a picture of the restaurant on her cell phone.
"And it's not that expensive either, so we can all ask for something" said Gori while holding his phone with the same image.
"Well, that's fine with me. And it looks nice," Retsuko said.
"Yeah, and it's not like those punk-style places that Haida used to take me to vent when Retsuko rejected him," Fenneko said.
"Hey, you didn't need to say that" Haida said a little blushing with embarrassment.
"Oh come on friend, that is in the past" said Ookami as he put a hand on his shoulder.
Koka and Hana only observed the situation without understanding from the adults, they only thought about the jewels that were found, perhaps later they would show them to their parents.
After a few seconds, the whole group finally left the park and went to the restaurant for lunch.
...
In another part of the city in a dark alley there were 6 beings, 3 male beings with their respective wives and their respective children between 14 and 9 years old. Each of the male beings held an emerald, one cyan, one purple, and one white. One of them had a tracker, in his hands. And I was seeing how far the other four were.
"According to my tracker they are not far from here" this was a yellow fox.
"I can't believe that for the second time, we ended up in another dimension because of chaos control" this was a red echidna.
"Well, we have to find them quickly, because if it happened like the previous time, he might be here too" said the blue hedgehog.
You got onto the elevator to head to your next class. It was there that you saw a poster asking for volunteers for a lab.
Volunteers needed, will be paid for their time and travel. Room P-204, September 1st between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM
You quickly snapped a picture of the poster before getting off the elevator. There were little to no details on what the lab was about and the information was printed in small Times New Roman font on plain white printer paper. It’s almost like they didn’t want to draw any attention to it.
But you were always on the lookout for these opportunities. As a college student with little financial help from a single parent, you needed everything you could get.
You were a cashier at a local drugstore close to campus, but you didn’t work many hours because you needed time to rest and sleep when you weren’t in class.
September 1st rolled around and you entered the room around 10 AM, giving you enough time to complete the lab before your 1 PM class.
You entered the quiet lab room and looked around. No one was in sight.
“Hello?” You called out, your voice was stuck in your throat, the lights were dimmed and the room felt..eerie.
A typical lab had bright lighting and multiple technicians or students walking about. This was different.
Suddenly a door in the corner opened. A man with brown hair walked out and donned a smile bright enough to light up the gloomy room.
“Hi! It’s nice to see you, I’m Yuta, you must be here for the lab!” He said enthusiastically.
You smiled. “Yes, hi, my name’s y/n.”
“Good. I’m glad you’re here today let’s sit down” Yuta continued, putting on a lab coat that hung behind the door he opened.
His features were stunning, cheekbones high and jawline sharp enough to cut through diamonds, you were sure.
You’d never seen him before, but he wore a college I.D like yours on a lanyard around his neck that read Yuta Nakamoto, Senior Laboratory Technician.
Seems legit. You thought to yourself.
“If I may ask, what is this lab...about?” You asked as you placed your backpack down beside you.
Yuta smiled again. “Oh it’s pretty simple, you’ll just be giving blood. We’ll then send it to the hospital to be used for blood transfusions and to the American Red Cross.” He said as he put surgical gloves on.
“oh.” You said, a bit disappointed in how boring the lab would be.
I’m getting paid to give blood? You thought to yourself and your confusion must have showed on your face because you felt Yuta lightly touch your arm.
“You don’t have to do this” Yuta looked you deep in the eyes, and for a split second, you felt as if he didn’t want you to do it, as if he was warning you.
“No, no—I want to do this, to be honest Yuta, I need the money” You exhaled.
“Okay” Yuta nodded and proceeded to connect the needle to the tube that led straight into a bag that hung over you.
His skin was radiant, his lips were a beautiful peach pink and his eyes were a deep brown, unlike any brown you’d ever seen. However, he looked weak and tired, and not like the usual college kid tired, no, he needed rest.
His soft fingers gently held your arm. He pushed a fresh needle into your vein carefully.
You watched as the dark liquid slowly flowed straight into the bag.
No blood pressure test, no glucose level test, no iron level test...weird. But you didn’t ask questions, you just needed the money.
“So..how did you find out about this?” Yuta asked to break the awkward silence.
“oh—I saw a flyer on the elevator”
Yuta smirked. “well, at least I know it’s still there.”
“What’s your major?” He asked, furrowing his thick brows.
“I’m a third year psychology major. That’s why I come to this building so often. I’m surprised I’ve never seen you before” you said before you could stop yourself.
Yuta giggled. “I guess I’m a busy man”
“What year are you?” You ask to keep the conversation going.
“I actually graduated this past May..” he started and stopped, a bit of sadness cover his eyes.
“I’ll be..going off to grad school in a few weeks” he continued in a low tone.
You nodded. “Congratulations, I’m sure it wasn’t easy” there was a bit of silence.
You watched as Yuta took his gloves off and busied himself. He filed away some lab files before heading over to the door and locking it. Shouldn’t he have left it open for other volunteers?
He came back over to a window and peaked through the blinds, it was as if he was hiding from someone or something. He was fidgety. He exhaled heavily before blurting out what was on his chest.
“Hey—you know, if you’re comfortable with giving blood..I may have a job for you.” Yuta started quietly, you looked up at him and waited for him to continue.
“It’s off-campus but he can provide transportation for you..you see, you’ll be giving blood, just like you are now..but for one specific person..” his voice trailed, he was really trying to sound logical.
“I’m sorry...I’m not following” you shook your head.
“I’m sorry, forget about it” Yuta put a hand through his hair and laughed.
“no, no it’s okay. If there’s money involved, I’m interested” you laughed it off.
Yuta paused and looked up at you.
“So there’s a guy that is in constant need of blood? For like—constant blood transfusions??” You innocently asked.
Yuta shook his head as he put a new pair of gloves on and started to take the needle out of your arm.
“no—forget it.” Yuta said before placing gauze and tape on your skin to replace the needle.
“Yuta..I know I just met you...but, I know you know the struggle of going to this expensive ass school. I need the money, I’ll do anything..well, as long as it’s not illegal.” You looked up at him with wide eyes, hoping to get more information.
“I’m not—sure if you’re ready for this job, you’ll have to meet with him 3 times a week. I—I don’t even think you’ll be well enough to give that often—“ Yuta continued, picking up the bag and carefully placing it in a cooler.
“I can do it—“ you interrupted him.
“Think about it, y/n, it won’t be easy” Yuta continued and held out a hand to help you up from the chair.
You sighed in defeat as he handed you an envelope with cash and held out his other hand which was empty.
“Phone.” He demanded.
You hurriedly took it out of your pocket and handed it to him.
“You have my phone number, but only text me when you’ve seriously considered it.” He said as he typed on your screen.
“Thank you for coming” Yuta said softly as he handed you your phone and held the door open for you to leave.
———————————————————
Two days later.
“Are you suuuure that’s the reason for why he gave you his phone number?” Bella, your best friend smirked and winked.
You laughed. “Yes! We didn’t flirt, it wasn’t like that at all!”
“It was...interesting” you said before taking a bite of your pizza.
“So what, like, he wants to do a one-on-one blood donation? That sounds pretty cool, at least you know your blood is going to an actual person and not some—crazy, underground vampire association” Bella laughed before taking a sip of her Sprite.
“I mean, I guess its okay, I’d have to go to his house though, which is weird. Why not have it set up at a clinic or something?” You squinted your eyes and tilted your head.
Bella shrugged her shoulders. “Do what you gotta do, girly.”
At that moment, your phone rang.
Mom.
“Give me one sec, I’ll be right back.” You stood up from the lunch table and walked outside.
“Hey Mom, how are you?” You asked brightly.
“Y/n, I’m good! My sweet girl, how are you? I miss you. How’s everything?” Your mom said with a tinge of sadness. She was trying to cover it up, but you knew she wasn’t good.
“I’m doing well, mom. Just having lunch with Bella.” You answered.
“Oh? I’m sorry to interrupt, we can talk later!” Your mom tried to hurry off the phone but you really wanted to know what was going on.
“No, mom, it’s okay. What’s going on?” You sat down on a bench outside of the cafeteria.
“Well..honey, the company announced that they’ll be making budget cuts and of course, they mean cuts to the amount of hours each of us will be getting” she spoke quietly.
“Those pricks! How can they do that to you? You all work so hard” your voice rose. Your mom had been working with them for over twenty years and this is how they treat her.
“Y/n..it’s okay, I’m gonna be okay. I just..honey, I’m so sorry, I’ll-I’ll get a second job, I just want you to finish college.” she went quiet, you knew she pulled away from the phone to cry so you wouldn’t hear.
“Mom, don’t be sorry, don’t worry, we’ll be okay, I’ll get a better job okay? And I’ll work harder so I can get a scholarship for next semester. Don’t worry about me, please, mom.” You held back tears. You two always found it difficult to make ends meet once your dad unexpectedly passed away three years ago. And now, this would only make things worse.
“Mom, we’re gonna get through this, we always do.” You laughed, hoping to get her to smile.
“Please eat something, okay? I’m gonna call you later.”
She sniffled. “I love you, honey.”
You smiled, “I love you too.”
You hung up and wiped a tear that threatened to fall down your cheek.
You looked at your phone for a moment. “Shit.” You said to yourself.
You scrolled through your contacts and found Yuta’s number.
I’m ready for the job.
———————
Yuta decided that it was best to meet you that night.
He texted you with the time and place and told you not to be late.
Yuta pulls up in a black BMW with completely black windows, something you weren’t used to seeing a college student with.
Yuta puts the window down and flashes that same bright smile. “Need a lift?”
You smile and roll your eyes before getting in.
Yuta drives carefully, always looking on the road. He didn’t pick up his phone or turn to you, but he seemed nervous.
His eyes darted back and forth like he was on guard, and not just on guard for others on the road..for something else.
He took a deep breath.
“So..the man you’re going to meet and work for is named Sicheng. He will explain your duties and the rules you must follow in order to receive your weekly allowance.” Yuta paused.
“Y/N...there will be moments of temptation, moments when..you may want more..don’t give in. Only do what he tells you to.”
Yuta didn’t elaborate. You had no idea what he meant by ‘moments of temptation’ but you didn’t ask, you only listened. You didn’t want to ruin anything by being too curious.
You nodded.
“Y/n..promise me you won’t give in” Yuta turned to you for the first time during the drive.
You watched as his eyes grew dark and glossy like he would cry at any moment.
You nodded again. “I promise.”
Yuta turned and looked back on the road.
He was buzzed in instantly and soon he pulled up to a large, secluded house. It was dark. There were no lamps on the outside and no lights on the inside.
Yuta clenched his jaw and rolled his neck before opening the car door. “Come on.”
A young man with pale and glowing skin cane to the door within three seconds of Yuta ringing the heavy and loud doorbell.
“Hello.” Sicheng gave a small smile as he gazed up at Yuta.
Sicheng was gorgeous, there was nothing or no one you could compare his beauty too. His perfectly round lips sat above his small chin and his eyes were soft like those of an antelope. His cheekbones were high and jawline looked as though t were sculpted of marble.
“Sicheng, this is y/n, she’ll be your new donor.” Yuta said stiffly, clearly not reflecting the same look of admiration that Sicheng gave him.
Instead, he looked down and spoke sternly through cold eyes.
Sicheng frowned as he shifted his gaze from Yuta to you. He nodded and looked you up and down.
“Hello, come in.” Sicheng turned and flipped on the lights of the foyer.
Sicheng is weird at first, the relationship between him and Yuta..is strange, you think to yourself.
His house is immaculately decorated with gold accents and red velvet decorated throughout. It was like a scene from Buckingham palace. Your mouth dropped as you looked up at the extremely vaulted ceilings with sparkly and extravagant chandeliers that hung above you.
“Please, take a seat.” Sicheng sits down on a velvet covered couch in his living room and holds out his hand to show the other couch for the two of you sit on.
Sicheng only focuses on Yuta as you two sit.
Sicheng introduces himself and says that he’s 22 but speaks as if he’s a character from the Great Gatsby.
“Well, y/n, it’s probably not as fun as you’d want it to be, but it’s fairly simple.” Sicheng was speaking to you but watched Yuta, who only looked on the paintings on the wall to avoid Sicheng’s gaze. You felt like you were third-wheeling an awkward date between estranged lovers.
You cleared your throat. “That’s alright with me!” You tried to say enthusiastically.
Sicheng glanced at you. “You’ll be giving blood directly to me, a needle and tube will be hooked up to you and that tube will go directly into a bag which I will drink out of. The entire process takes about an hour but will be done in ten minute increments.”
You held a finger up. “Um. I’m sorry, did you say you’ll be drinking..from a bag of my blood?”
Sicheng giggled. “He didn’t tell you?”
“Tell me what?” You turned to Yuta whose eyes flashed to the luxurious carpet below you.
“I’m what you kids call—a vampire.” Sicheng cringed as he said the word.
You laughed out loud and held your stomach. Yuta and Sicheng remained still as you chuckled loudly into the large room.
“Wow! It’s not even Halloween yet! That’s a good one.” You wipes a tear from your eye.
Sicheng got up from the couch and walked out of the living room.
“Yuta, this is a good prank. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive you for wasting my time though.” You gave Yuta a light punch on the arm, but he turned to you and frowned.
You tilted your head. “You’re not—he’s not serio—?” You were startled by a loud slam on the coffee table in front of you.
Sicheng lays out stacks of money and says that he’s serious, the playful tone disappearing. “By the end of the week, this could be all yours.”
Your eyes flashed up to a smirking Sicheng. “How about it, y/n?” He was irresistible. His dark eyes were captivating and his smile was tantalizing.
You shook your head.
“This—this is crazy. You’re a vampire..like Twilight, oh my God are you Dracula?!” You asked innocently, earning a wide smile from the handsome man.
He looked down at Yuta. “I like her, where did you find her?”
This was crazy but you could make several hundred dollars for each 60 minute meeting just from giving blood. You’d have more than enough to give to yourself and your mom.
“If you’re not serious about this, I don’t want to waste anymore time, y/n.” Sicheng sat back down onto the couch.
You looked up at him, then back to the stunning collection of cash of money on the table.
You swallowed hard. You were scared, but you needed this, you needed the money.
“I’ll do it.” You nodded.
Sicheng jumped up from the couch and passes you a written agreement that was resting on a grand piano in the corner.
You look over the agreement. It basically tells you that you must maintain a healthy diet and report to his house twice a week. You can not engage in risky (sexual, drug use) behavior or drink alcohol more than once a week, as it ruins the taste and subjects him to diseases (which his body can handle and eventually cure himself of, but makes him weak nonetheless).
“I know you’re a college kid, but please.. no drinking. The alcohol in your bloodstream also has an effect on me. It is very important that you follow ALL of these rules” Sicheng walks to the fireplace.
You look back down at the agreement. It says you can only give blood to him and he can’t drink blood directly from you as it establishes a connection and the piercing feeling becomes quite addictive for some humans. Some humans get high off of the feeling.
Your eyes widen at the last rule.
Do NOT fall in love.
Why would you fall in love? It was a pretty easy job, just show and give blood, how could you fall in love?
You quickly sign the lengthy document and hand it back to him.
Yuta is still quiet, you wonder what happened between him and Sicheng. Why was he leaving? Did he break one of the rules?
“Well, I’ll see you on Monday, y/n. Yuta, when will you come by again?” Sicheng turned to Yuta who started to rise from the couch. He looked up at Sicheng.
“Sicheng—don’t” Yuta shook his head and left the living room.
You turned to Sicheng who watched as Yuta walked away with sorrowful eyes.
You cleared you throat. “It was nice to meet you, Sicheng.”
You walked after Yuta, he was your ride home and you couldn’t wait to get out of that place.
You thought of how crazy your life was to become. You had just signed on to be Vampire food.
A/N: thank you for reading! I will be uploading one chapter per night! I promise the next ones will be more interesting. This is more of an intro so it’s not that great
