synopsis: After falling asleep on Sunghoon’s lap, you wake up to a conversation you were never meant to hear. Hidden in the quiet murmurs of the living room, Sunghoon exposes the truth—you were never more than a convenience, a distraction. The weight of his cold words shatters the illusion you had clung to for so long, leaving you heartbroken and afraid. As you flee the room, Jay follows, offering the warmth and comfort Sunghoon never did. With Jay by your side, you begin to see the truth: love isn’t supposed to hurt like this. And maybe, just maybe, it’s time to finally let go.

The living room was unusually quiet for a group of people, the tension hanging in the air thick enough to suffocate. The members were scattered around the room, some lounging on the couches, others standing, but all of them seemed to be quietly talking about something—something you weren’t meant to hear.
You had been curled up on the couch, exhausted from everything going on. You had found solace in the warmth of Sunghoon beside you, his hand resting on your head while you drifted off to sleep in his lap. It was supposed to be peaceful. But everything was about to shatter.
As your mind drifted between sleep and waking, you started to hear snippets of conversation. The murmur of voices caught your attention, and you could just make out what was being said in the living room.
“Is he really still doing that to her?” Jake’s voice was the first to cut through the silence, his tone calm but filled with concern. “She’s been acting so different lately, like she’s not even herself anymore.”
Sunghoon’s voice was next, low and dismissive. “It’s not like she’ll ever understand. I’m just keeping her around because it’s easy. She’s so predictable. I don’t have to try. She believes everything I tell her.”
Your heart sank, the words cutting deeper than anything you’d ever expected to hear. He doesn’t care about me. The realization hit like a ton of bricks, and you could feel the weight of it sinking in.
“You can’t keep treating her like that,” Jay’s voice joined in, firm but careful. “She doesn’t deserve it, Sunghoon. You need to stop leading her on if you’re not serious about her.”
Sunghoon’s response was filled with frustration, a sigh escaping him. “I don’t need to be serious with her. She’s not that important. She’s just a distraction. She doesn’t even realize it.”
Jake’s voice was soft, yet full of empathy. “Man, you’re really pushing it. You know how much she cares for you. You’re playing with her emotions, and it’s not right.”
You stayed as still as you could, hoping they wouldn’t notice you were awake. But your heart was pounding too hard, the sting of Sunghoon’s words still burning in your chest. You wanted to leave, to get as far away from the suffocating air around you, but your body wouldn’t move. You couldn’t move.
The conversation continued, each word they spoke about you echoing in your mind.
Sunghoon scoffed, a cold laugh leaving his lips. “She’s too clingy. I told her I was busy, and she still expects me to drop everything for her. It’s annoying. I don’t need her pulling at me all the time.”
Jay’s voice softened, though there was still a firmness to it. “Sunghoon, she’s not pulling at you. She’s just trying to get the love she thinks you’re giving her. If you really care about her, you wouldn’t treat her this way.”
But Sunghoon wasn’t listening. He was beyond the point of caring.
You couldn’t take it anymore. The betrayal, the hurt, the realization that everything you had believed in was a lie. You quickly stood up from Sunghoon’s lap, not sparing him a glance, and rushed out of the room, unable to hold back the tears. Your feet moved without thinking, and before you knew it, you were in the hallway, trying to catch your breath, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Jay’s voice broke through your panic as he appeared in front of you, his presence a welcome comfort. He didn’t ask, didn’t push you to explain. He just knew you needed space.
You shook your head, tears blurring your vision. “I—I didn’t know he felt that way. He… he doesn’t care about me. He never did.”
Jay didn’t say anything at first, just pulled you into a gentle embrace, offering the kind of comfort that felt like home. He rubbed your back soothingly, whispering soft reassurances. “You don’t deserve to be treated like that. You’ve always been there for him, and he’s been using you. You deserve better, sweetheart.”
Your shoulders shook with the weight of the words, and Jay held you tighter, grounding you as you tried to calm yourself.
“I’m sorry you had to hear that,” Jay murmured. “But I need you to know something—Sunghoon’s not worth your tears. He’s not worth your heart. Don’t let him define you.”
You tried to pull away, but Jay wouldn’t let you go. He kept you close, his voice unwavering. “Sunghoon’s your past. Let him go. I’m here for you, alright? You’re not alone in this.”
You nodded, not trusting your voice just yet. But Jay wasn’t finished. He gave you one last squeeze before pulling away slightly, looking at you with a mix of concern and determination.
“Stay here for a bit, yeah? Let’s talk this out. You don’t have to go back there right now.”
You weren’t sure where to go or what to do. Everything felt so overwhelming, like the rug had been pulled out from under you, and you were falling, unsure if anyone would catch you. But Jay was here. Jay wasn’t going anywhere.
As you followed him into the living room to sit down, you could hear faint murmurs from Sunghoon and the others in the background, but Jay was standing strong between you and everything that was hurting. He wasn’t going to let you go back to the toxic mess that Sunghoon had created.
When you entered the living room, the atmosphere changed immediately. Sunghoon, who had been oblivious to your exit earlier, looked up, his face twisting in a mixture of annoyance and apathy. “What’s going on?” he asked, his tone cold.
Jay stepped forward, his eyes meeting Sunghoon’s with a firm stare. “Cut it out, Hoon. She’s done. You’re not going to keep playing with her like this anymore. She deserves respect.”
There was a moment of silence. Sunghoon looked like he was about to snap back, but Jay’s stance was unwavering, and something in Sunghoon’s expression faltered. Finally, Sunghoon scoffed, muttering something under his breath, and turned away.
Jay turned back to you, his expression softening. “You don’t need him, sweetheart. Not anymore.”
You nodded slowly, feeling the weight on your chest lighten a little, knowing that Jay was right. This wasn’t love, and it never had been. But there was a future ahead, one where you were strong enough to move forward, even without him.

back w/the darkbull again I fear. this is the kidnapping again, Charles POV, though as a quick side note: after this ficlet is where this universe would branch for the "bad ending". 1.5k words
CONTENT WARNINGS: dehumanization, breathplay/choking, emotionally manipulative language/gaslighting, absolutely unhinged levels of delusional possessiveness
Charles tugs the rest of the sweatshirt down over Max, who's barely even looking at him, eyes half lidded. He doesn't want to have to keep using such a high dose, and he thinks they're making some positive progress- Max doesn't even fight him much anymore when he tries to move him around.
Charles has found that laying his hand over Max's ribs where the fresh tattoo is, the heavy reminder of the possessiveness- it gets rid of some of the fire. It's still sensitive too, so he has the added bonus of seeing Max squirm.
He slides a hand up under the sweatshirt, brushing his fingers over the constellation, a reminder of their lifelong connection, their red string of fate.
Max makes a breathy little noise, trying weakly to move away, and Charles shushes him, leaning down to kiss his forehead. He brings his hand back out, running one through Max's hair while he reaches with the other for the water on the counter.
It's not a sedative this time- Charles actually intends to wake him up a bit with this one.
He brings his fingers to Max's mouth, thumb pushing gently on his bottom lip, and Max blinks, slow and confused.
"'anny?"
Charles freezes, narrowing his eyes.
"What was that, chaton?"
He can hear the edge in his own voice, and something in him is immediately angry and possessive- here he is, taking care of Max, rescuing him, and all he gets in return is another man's name in his mouth.
Max's eyes widen, just the tiniest bit more aware, and Charles uncaps the water.
"See, because that almost sounded like you said 'Danny', didn't it? And we don't want that."
He's gripping Max's hair tight, tight enough to hurt- he can tell because Max is struggling to lean up into it, take some of the pressure off.
"No... no, I didn't-"
It's still slow and slurred, but Charles can see the edge of panic in Max's eyes. He's realized he fucked up.
It's not his fault Redbull is in so deep, but- Charles can't let it slide, even if Max looks cute like this, desperately pushing up into his hand, eyes starting to sparkle with tears.
Charles sighs.
"I think you did, baby."
He lowers Max's head back down, still keeping his grip on his hair as he brings up the water.
It's easy enough, resting it on his bottom teeth, and he angles Max's head so that he can take sips, but he keeps it constant- Max has to keep drinking if he doesn't want to choke.
It's the most efficient way Charles has found so far, and he doesn't mind it. It makes him feel in tune with Max- Charles pours, Max swallows, they have to work together if Max wants to keep breathing.
Teamwork practice.
Still- Max struggles at the end, slightly off beat, and he gags, trying to pull his head away and cough. Charles doesn't let him- keeps his hand firm as he pours the rest of the water, even as Max starts to really get feisty.
He drops the empty bottle and lets Max sit up a bit, cooing at him as he coughs wetly.
"Aw, poor chaton, did you drink too fast?"
The stimulant is already taking effect, and the cold water wake up call has also helped, because Max's glare is absolutely murderous.
It's cute.
"You fucking choked me, that's not-"
Charles cuts him off simply by raising an eyebrow. He hasn't really let Max be this awake without a gag before, but it sounds like he's exactly as obstinate as Charles remembers.
"No, baby. That is not choking you, I was helping you."
He doesn't want to have to teach Max this right now, but Max has backed him into a corner, so Charles sighs, eyes lingering on the pale column of Max's throat. It's unmarked, after he'd cut the fucking Redbull chain off.
He's going to fix that.
Charles can see it in Max's eyes the moment he realizes, widening in fear, but Charles has him pinned between him and the headboard, he doesn't have anywhere to go.
He swings a leg over his lap to pin him, hand coming up to wrap around his throat.
"Charles- Charles please-"
The begging is pretty. Charles wants to hear more of that later.
"This is choking you."
He bears down, and he's an expert at this- most everyone in Ferrari knows how to do this right, how to apply just enough pressure-
Max spasms underneath him, eyes wide and panicking. He doesn't trust Charles yet, but that's okay. They'll get there. Charles knows what he's doing, wouldn't actually take it too far- it's just some reinforcement.
"And here I thought you were wanting Daniel instead."
He eases up on his throat, keeping his hand loosely wrapped around the front as Max sucks in heaving breaths.
"No- no I didn't- I meant Charles, I-"
He squeezes again, making sure to really dig in his fingers. He wants to leave bruises, a little collar for Max to remember him by while he's gone.
Charles holds it a little bit longer this time, until Max's eyes flutter and he starts going limp, and then he lets go completely, watching fondly as he he collapses back, trying to catch his breath.
It's a bit like playing with an actual kitten- the cat thinks they've won, that they got the toy- but it's been connected to string the whole time, and Charles had no problems reeling him in again and again, until he learns.
"No you didn't, baby. Go ahead, say it again. I know you want to, yes? Or maybe you would rather call for Carlos, or Christian? GP?"
He drags his fingertips down Max's throat, to the dip in his collarbone. The edge of the red sweatshirt looks so pretty against his skin.
Charles is going to keep him forever.
Max is trembling underneath him, mouth snapped shut. Smart kitten.
Unfortunately, it's too late for cute behavior to work for him.
"Say it."
Max looks mutinous as he opens his mouth, and Charles watches him expectantly. He's in trouble either way, and they both know it.
"Danny."
There's a spark of defiance in his eyes, like he's accepted that this will go badly, but he's still determined to fight it. Good.
That's what Charles wants. It's no fun if Max is meek and submissive from the jump- Charles wants to earn it.
He sneers dawn at Max, digging his fingers back into his hair and yanking.
"Shit-"
Max tries to jerk up, to follow his hand, but he's still pinned by Charles.
"You know what you are, chaton? You are spoiled and ungrateful. I am here, staying home to help take care of you, help you get adjusted, and this is what I get?"
There are tears forming on Max's lash line, but he still looks angry when he drags his eyes to meet Charles'.
"I'm not a fucking cat-"
Charles tuts at him, bringing his other hand to squeeze at Max's side over the tattoo.
"Ah-"
Max thrashes, trying to get away from it, but Charles carefully lowers him back down, hand moving from his hair back to this throat, and Max goes still, eyes wide.
"Charles please- please not again, I don't-"
"Shut up."
He snaps his mouth shut.
Charles runs a thumb over his cheek gently.
"Good boy. See how easy it is? Don't you want to be good for me? I don't like hurting you, baby. It's not what I want to do, but you keep making me do that."
Max keeps his mouth shut, because he's a quick learner.
Charles smiles down at him.
"That's what I thought. There's a reason I woke you up a bit today, chaton. I have a factory meeting, and I don't have anyone to housesit you, so you're going to do sim laps here at home, yes?"
Max blinks up at him. He looks like he's actually listening, which is a good sign.
"Good boy. I will still need to gag you, of course, but that is just because you can be very needy, and I don't need the neighbors complaining, you understand."
Max's gaze is back to being murderous, probably at the implied pet comparison again, but he's behaving.
It's definitely only because he thinks he'll be able to hijack the sim rig somehow, use it in an escape plan. Charles isn't worried. It's been Max-proofed.
Though, he's expecting to come back home to a semi-trashed flat. It's fine, he's prepared for the adjustment period.
He strokes a hand through Max's hair gently.
"It's on the Ferrari, because that is what you'll be driving next season, so all you need to do today is try and learn it, okay?"
He grips his fingers just a bit, because he likes the way it makes Max tilt his head into his hand.
"Surely that is not too difficult for you."
Max's lip curls, fierce and defiant.
"I hope you fucking crash."

Okay, OKAY, I LIED! I will do this every episode! HOLY SHIT!! 😮🤣🤣
So, after the bomb he just brought Ga On home with him?! No need for a hospital, just took him home! And damn, that house his huge! I love it, I love it!
And there is so much Beauty and the Beast vibe in this episode (though they are both gorgeous men), with the locked room and the weird people around, seriously, what the hell?! Ga On not allowed to step out of his room and he doesn't really put up a fight! He mentions going home once but then that's it, he's just.... staying there. Seriously dude! 😮😮😮 He basically kidnapped you while you were injured.
I swear I clapped with the people when Judge Kang was able to have all those people spill the beans on that rich kid's awful behavior. He's my hero! 😍😍😍 You go and punish that rich spoiled horrible brat!
But then we get to the end of the episode and I'm horrified by Judge Kang all over again but at the same time I wonder if HE is the one who started the fire that killed his brother because his brother really loved him. You can see it in the flashbacks so clearly and how his brother stands up for him towards his father. I could understand if Kang had murdered his dad but his brother.... Or maybe I am just trying to find excuses because deep down I think Kang is pretty damn cool. 😍
He did indeed just bring Ga On home x'D I'd like to think that Yo Han WOULD have taken Ga On to the hospital first if his injuries truly had been severe, but who the hell knows with that man?
The house is GORGEOUS, though, that's for sure. I mean, also HILARIOUSLY Gothic Romance TM, but I, for one, am not complaining.
Aaaand yeah. Ga On just... doesn't really go home? xD I mean, he DOES have the excuse that he wants to figure out Yo Han's endgame, but that truly stops being a believable argument pretty soon. They just sort of hand-wave away the fact that these men are now living together. For reasons.
One of the most fascinating things about Yo Han is the number of times your opinion of him shifts during the drama. He truly has some good ideas and does some pretty awesome things, but he is also, uh, well, Yo Han. That's to say someone who's ruthless, cold, and quite frightening. And he has no limits when it comes to getting what he wants — he will do whatever it takes.
Which makes for an interesting character, but not a very good person, as such. I mean, I love Yo Han, but he's also a complete asshole. So yeah, he's very cool, but the sensible part of me also feels a healthy amount of scepticism in the face of his shenanigans xD
He's complicated, as the kids say.

wrote a whole long post that didn't make sense because i'm a fic writer not a meta writer and the point comes down to this: sand and ray are both Such Bad Liars
they have honest faces. nobody, in-universe or in the audience, is ever really fooled when they pretend things are other than they are.
when sand is hurt you can tell, it's in every line of his body. ray is expressive and straightforward but hides his hurt a little better, not because he's better at lying but because the hurt hardly ever goes away.
ray can see sand freezing up and looking upset when he's called a friend or not prioritized, he can see the lie, but it doesn't matter compared to what sand's actually saying and what it'll mean if it's (not) true. he's gotten a lesson recently about pushing. and sand, i think, can see ray caring but he can't imagine it could be enough, that he could matter the most or be a priority. when ray calls sand a whore it's the only lie he told that night and sand knows it
when they hurt each other sand lies and pulls away and ray can tell, and similarly ray lies and pulls away and sand can tell, and theyre stuck in limbo because of it. awful. hate it. 10000 more just like it please

↑ this, and if a man is problematic online, then he's going to be even worse irl 🤷‍♀️ the entire perception that our online presence or persona does not reflect our true self is false. if you notice, then you can always figure out the inner workings of a person simply by seeing how they act with or react to people. a man who acts toxic on the net is going to be no different irl
Anytime a man is known for getting into fights with other men, just know he's gonna beat women up with zero hesitation in private. Look at Xxxtentacion. When I learned that Dennis Rodman headbutted other men (basketball players, a referee, an SNL comedian etc.) and would kick cameramen for no reason, all I had to do was google his name and attach 'domestic violence' to it. And what do you know. In 2008, he was charged with spousal battery.
Men who hate other men are likely to treat women like shit too. Or even worse. They don't have to be outwardly violent lmao. Never give them the benefit of the doubt either way.

Yandere! Caleb:
Content: Non proof-reader; Gaslight + Manipulation + Lying; Established relationship + Somnophilia + Masturbating with clothes + Possessiveness + Riding + Size difference + Praising + Dumbification + Overstimulation + Thigh riding.
Note: I have never been a Caleb hater, so of course I had to write something about this cutie... Have you all seen the trailer? What do you think about him? I'm actually quite glad that they added someone who better fits the role of a dark romance, as Sylus was just a green forest contrary to what he was presented as. Let me know if you want in comments/private messages!! Also, sorry if it seems a bit too short :((
Tumblr media
SFW:
Yandere! Caleb, who has known you since childhood, thus it is only natural that he knows every single small detail about you. What do you mean by saying that it's not normal for him to know the exact measures of every single inch of your body? He has known you for over eleven years, it's only natural.
Yandere! Caleb who sometimes takes advantage of your kind heart, remarking just how close you are, gaslighting you into thinking that some of the stuff he does for you is completely normal between friends. I mean, of course friends tell each other where are they every single second, and of course they know all of their other friends.
Yandere! Caleb who also uses the advantage of being a bit older than you, so you just have to trust his advices. He knows best, and he loves you, so how could you even doubt him?
Yandere! Caleb who slowly makes sure to get rid of your other friends, specially those who seem a bit too eager to hangout with you. He does this by lying, asking you to help him searching for the perfect gift for grandma, as he wasn't completely sure if that would actuall suit her taste. Or maybe getting sick on purpose, bathing with freezing cold water, staying there for a few hours just to make sure you would refuse to leave him all alone.
Yandere! Caleb who overprotected you since he was young, always holding hands with you until you started to get shy about it. He was always leading you, his magnetic gaze making it impossible to refuse his requests.
Yandere! Caleb who starts to train late at night as a way to stop his own urges to chain you to him. Punching the training bag as he keeps reminding himself that if he does that it would mean breaking the façade he had spent so much time creating just for your entertainment.
Yandere! Caleb who buys you a beautiful necklace for your birthday, he smiles brightly as he helps you put it around your neck. You were still unaware, but this was just one of the most tame ways he came up with to show just how much he wanted you only for him.
Tumblr media
NSFW:
Yandere! Caleb who sometimes makes his way inside your house late at night, the keys to it in his pockets as you had given them to him in case he ever needed a place to rest, or he simply wanted to pay a visit. He rummages around your drawers, searching for anything that has your scent, he presses it to his nose, smelling that sweet scent as he feels his erection grow under his pants. He bites his lips as a way to keep himself from undoing his belt and start to touch himself just from imagining your precious face smiling at him.
Yandere! Caleb who enjoys using his own body weight as he fucks your pretty pussy, making you whine and mewl each time he increases the pressure against your lower tummy causing his dick rubbing even more against your insides. Even despite you cling to the sheets for dear life as he plunges against you, he simply smiles sadistically, one of his hands petting your hair as he keeps watching you try to stop yourself from spilling out all those lewd moans by biting on the pillow. His mind rushing as he imagines all those damn "friends" hearing you melt under him just from him moving his hips a bit as he forces his way into you.
Yandere! Caleb who loves seeing the necklace he gave you recoiling against your chest each time he helped you to move up and down his cock, nails digging on his back as he kept hitting that sweet spot, kissing your neck as he whispered sweet nothings against your ear: "You're doing so good for me, yeah, keep moving your hips baby..." [...] "Are you getting tired, baby? Let me help you." Suddenly, his hands wrap around your hips, forcing his whole length on a single thrust, a squeal leaving your mouth as the tip of his cock suddenly hit against your cervix, eyes rolling back as he kept pressing his cock against you, mainting you completely still as he kept praising you. "Shh... You're doing so good for me, taking my whole cock inside you... So good baby, so good for me... Just a bit more, yeah? Gotta make sure you get all dumb and pretty for me, right?"
Yandere! Caleb who loves dirtying your face with his cum, allowing you to give him head, his fingers making their way into your lower half, using his rough fingertips to play with your clit as you started to spread soft kisses all over his length. By the time he finally cums, your mind was completely melted from cumming all over his fingers and mouth, sucking on his cock mindlessly as he moved his hips in a slow rythm, only increasing it as he came inside your mouth. When he opened his eyes, he found a precious sight, your mouth slightly open as a few strings of his cum escapep from your soft lips, your eyes looking at him as if you were dazed, glistening with a mixture of pure love and devotion. He quickly cleans it, kissing your lips as lets you rest on top of him, peppering soft kisses all over your face. "You did amazing, sweetheart. Such a good girl for me."
Yandere! Caleb, who sometimes becomes extra mean with you, making you mewl as he forces you to orgasm just from using his knee, having you ride them as he looks at you with an unamused look on his face. You keep rubbing against his clothed lower half, pleading between soft moans to get him to touch you, whispering things like: "Please, please, please, just the tip-- Can't take it anymore... Caleb please--". By the time he decides to get you to cum, you are already a panting mess, drool falling down your chin as your mind is already too far gone, tears falling down your face from the frustration. Before you are even able to realise, Caleb is already forcing you to cum all over your panties, his fingers rubbing against your clothed clit as you mumble a few words of gratitude.

The room felt suffocating, thick with a silence that screamed louder than any argument ever could. You sat on the bed, hands trembling in your lap, eyes cast downward. His presence, once a comfort, now felt like a weight pressing on your chest.
Sunghoon stood at the door, his gaze cold and unreadable. He wasn’t looking at you the way he used to. No softness in his eyes, no warmth. Just that sharp, almost bored look that had begun to replace every glance he ever gave you.
“Sunghoon,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper, fighting the lump in your throat. “Have I done something wrong?”
You knew the answer before he even spoke. You could already feel it—the distance, the indifference that had crept in like a disease. But you were desperate for him to say something, anything that would make sense of the emptiness growing between you two.
His lips twisted into something that almost resembled a smirk, but it lacked any real emotion. “You’re acting weird,” he said flatly, his voice holding a dismissive edge. “Nothing’s wrong. Stop overthinking.”
Your chest tightened as he spoke, the words sinking deeper than they should. Acting weird? Was this really where you had ended up? After everything, this was how he saw you now? As someone who was just “acting weird,” as if your feelings didn’t matter. As if you didn’t matter.
“I just feel like you’ve been pulling away,” you said quietly, your heart aching in the silence that followed. “Like… you don’t want to be around me anymore.”
His eyes flickered, but it was more irritation than concern. He sighed, his gaze flicking to the floor as if you were the last thing on his mind. “You’re so dramatic,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck like he was somehow annoyed with your very existence. “You think I’m pulling away? I’m just tired. Stop making it into a bigger deal.”
You flinched, the words cutting deeper than you wanted to admit. You had always tried to please him, to make him happy. But here he was, dismissing your feelings like they were nothing. Like you were nothing.
“I miss you,” you whispered, the words barely escaping your lips as your throat tightened. “I miss the way we used to talk… the way you used to look at me.”
He tilted his head, his gaze icy, as if the sentiment you shared meant nothing to him anymore. “You’re acting needy,” he said bluntly, his voice almost harsh. “I told you, I’ve been busy. Stop acting like I’m supposed to drop everything for you every time you get upset.”
The sting of his words was almost unbearable. You had hoped he would soften, that he would at least show you a sliver of the affection he used to have for you. But all you saw was a cold stranger wearing the face of the person you once loved.
“I’m not trying to be needy,” you whispered, swallowing back the pain. “I just… I just want you to talk to me. I want you to be here.”
Sunghoon didn’t answer right away. Instead, he moved closer, but his touch was different now. It was colder, more distant. His fingers brushed against your arm in a way that felt almost like an obligation rather than affection. You felt the shift in the air, the absence of the warmth you once relied on.
“You’re too soft,” he said, voice barely above a murmur. “Too sensitive. I don’t need this right now.”
The words stung, but you had been hearing them more and more. You were too much. Too clingy. Too emotional. You were everything that Sunghoon didn’t want anymore, even though you had never changed. You hadn’t stopped loving him. You hadn’t stopped caring. But he had.
“I just want you to love me the way you used to,” you whispered, a tear escaping before you could stop it. “I just want to feel like I matter.”
His eyes flickered for a moment, but it was only for a fraction of a second. It was like he was bored with you now, like you were just a part of his past he was no longer interested in holding onto.
“Stop acting like I owe you something,” he snapped, his voice sharper now, harder. “You’re not the center of my universe, angel. You’re not the only thing that matters.”
The words hit you like a slap. You were nothing to him. Just a person he used to care about, a person he had no use for anymore. It wasn’t love. It was never love. It was just him feeding off your trust, your affection, and now he had drained you dry.
You stood up, your legs shaky, your heart breaking in ways you didn’t think were possible. “I’m sorry,” you whispered, the words feeling like a lie. You weren’t sorry. You weren’t sorry for loving him. You weren’t sorry for wanting him. You were only sorry that you had given him everything, and he had thrown it all away.
Sunghoon didn’t even look at you. He didn’t care. He had already turned away, already walking toward the door, not sparing you a second glance.
“I’m going out,” he said, his voice cold, almost robotic. “Don’t wait up.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
even if you tried every time to keep him away, push him away, avoid him or chase him, rafe always came back. you could be cold, distant, suspicious and even cruel, he didn't care. by the way, he was better than you at that game anyway? it wasn’t for nothing that you always lost trying to fight him. he was winning while you were just exhausting yourself out. sometimes you wonder why you let him into your life, why you thought it would be a good idea to have a baby with him when everyone on the island told you he was unstable and uncontrollable. some even laughed at your situation, saying it was like giving something to the devil and hoping he doesn't use it against you.
you couldn't say rafe was a bad father. your daughter had always been outrageously spoiled. he always gave her the biggest and greatest gifts. nothing was ever good enough for his princess. he always thought big when it came to his baby. even if you were a pogue, he wanted to raise her as a fucking kook.
and sometimes you wondered if he did all this out of pure fatherly love or out of narcissism or ego.even if you hated him so much, he absolutely needed to make sure your child was on his side. every time he was there, it was like you no longer existed. the house was full of "dad," "daddy, “ or “ papa, " and babbling and laughing. it was always his name, she never called you. and you always felt a pang in your heart every time he grabbed her in his big veiny arms, making her the happiest little girl before taking her away from you to go on some weekly trips.
even when he was not at home, it was always with the toys he gave her that she played, the dresses he gave her that she wore, the hairstyles that he validated by facetime that she asked you to make, the meals he delivered that she wanted to eat. she was truly daddy’s girl. even in her facial features.
so no matter how much you tried to ignore him, he was still there somehow . through the demands of your daughter, the hundreds of deliveries a day to your door, the objects in this house and even its walls because he was obviously the one who paid for it.
you didn't need to work. you had access to all his cards. at first you spent tons of money on unnecessary expenses hoping it would drive him crazy but the next day you saw that even more money had been added to the bank account.
but rafe cameron didn't give you access to his banking data out of pure kindness and affection alone. he was also looking for a way to control you, and stay in your life. then, with that, he could also stalk you and do inappropriate things like when you bought lingerie and he received the bill. he couldn't stop himself from sending you a message. “don't want to see me, but you dress yourself like you want me to give you a second baby ;) ”
the only rule was that you were forbidden from going to see another man and even less from inviting him to the house. he manipulated you by saying it was for your daughter's mental balance but it was purely out of jealousy. and you knew it very well. you weren't the stupid naive girl he had gaslighted in the past and who he could lie to so easily anymore.
Tumblr media
one day, you were giving your kid the extremely expensive cupcakes rafe had bought for her breakfast, trying not to comment on the ridiculousness of the prices but especially the situation, and there was a knock at the door. when you saw through the blinder that it was him, you stepped back discreetly, swallowing hard to not clench. your heart was beating fast in your ribcage as you were trying to silence your stepfoots.
“I know you're here.” you had heard his loud firm raspy voice through the door. “baby, i can hear you breathing and backing up from here. come on, i thought we both get over the time i scared you. ”
he continued to knock on the door until your old neighbor called you claiming that a crazy madman was in front of your house and didn't want to leave.
you had been forced to open up to him which made you even angrier.
but that didn’t stop him from smiling at you, the insatiable white colgate smile. his clean and fresh mullet was long enough that hair brushed the back of his neck. he was wearing one of his perfect black suits with the sleeves rolled up to show a glimpse of his nice shirt. a Rolex was tight around his veiny wrist, and the same rings he always wore were wrapped around his fingers.
he had his ear pierced recently with your daughter. you had been against it, but she still wanted to do like her father so you had no authority over the sweet monster. but you had to admit that the jewelry suited them both so well. especially on rafe, you couldn't help but think about kissing his ear, but especially biting his earlobe while caressing the silver piercing until it's wet and rolling against your tongue. all this perhaps while thinking of having a baby again.
“I should be allowed to come here whenever I want. " he had sworn under his breath, staring at you with his evil blue eyes.
“tell me what you have to say or I’ll call the police.” you replied shortly.
"I want to see my girl. I mean, the one who likes to call me daddy. "
“It’s not funny and she doesn’t want to…”
you hadn't had time to finish speaking before your babyface's little footsteps were running on the floor to come into the hall.
“daddy! " she exclaimed before being carried off the ground to snuggle into her father's strong arms, her little frame being hidden by the size of his biceps.
“that's my little girl.” he welcomed her with a kiss on the cheek, making her chuckle.
"I missed you! please, stay !" your kid had asked with bubbly face and pleading eyes, her childish pout so irresistible to say no.
“of course, I’m staying.”
“raf…” you started but he ignored you, walking in the house without your permission into the living room.
Tumblr media
“I have something for you, peaches. ”
he took a present out of his bag and you rolled your eyes. you already knew it was going to be something crazy like the giant dollhouse he built in her bedroom, or the huge dinette in the playroom, or a scary tall comfort teddy bear that she couldn't even carry in her tiny hands. sometimes you wondered what he could offer to her because she already had everything. he had literally built her a heaven.
your daughter's eyes widened in surprise, while a smile floated across her lips in excitement. she opened the gift and took out a silver tiara set with diamonds and stunning crystals signed by Swarovski.
“she’s a baby, rafe…” you commented.
"no, she's a princess. " he corrected you and fixed your little one's hair before putting the tiara on her head, and placing a smack on her forehead. “ don't you see that kook babyface ? ”
she giggled before wrapping her hands around his neck to thank him.
“we need to talk.” you said.
"later. i have a princess to honor for now."
you wanted to fight back and kill him but you couldn't resist your daughter's face. she was happy to be with her father. and you knew it was important for girls to establish a strong bond with their father. and there was this bright spark that shone in her eyes every time she saw him that made you melt.
so you let him stay at home. he stayed with her all day. she managed to make him do whatever she wanted, and that's how he found himself playing with dolls, watching the princess and the frog, doing karaoke to barbie songs, serving as a client for a makeup session, and judging all of her princess dresses while she was making him a haul.
No matter how angry you were that he showed up like that and decided to stay, you couldn't deny the fact that he was damn good, that in the moment, you couldn't find any reason not to like him, even when he caught you spying on them and sent you a smirk to remember that you had no control.
you had decided to do some cleaning, to leave them both for a bit until the end of the day. after a long moment, rafe decided to leave her alone for a bit.
you were downstairs, and you were making food. he raised an eyebrow when he saw you. “don’t forget me.”
“no I’m sorry, I’m cooking for two and you’re not included in it.”
“I was included in this pussy to make you a baby so you can include me in this meal for one night, baby. ‘s nothing. ” he shouted back, chewing some gum arrogantly.
“don’t be trashy.”
"you used to like this..." he carefully said, because he knew he was treading on sensitive ground.
he stood in front of you, picking a taste of the ranch sauce from the bowl before putting it in his mouth. you watched him do it, glaring at the smile on his so fucking evil lickable lips.
“ taste's good. ”
“I want you to leave. “
"We should ask every part of your body if they're okay with this. Maybe it would put you back into your place to feel betrayed by your own self. "
“You’re not good for her.” you confessed.
“I am her father. And from what i know, she's very happy with me. You're the one to have a problem with my presence here. ”
"Please, leave the house. I don't want to call the police."
“exactly, baby.” he moved to stand behind you, rearranging a strand of your hair, his breath hot on the back of your neck. “you don’t want to do it. And you're not forced to do it…” he caressed your hand, slowly putting the knife away from your fingers.
“Step back.”
"I want to stay here tonight. Just this night. She really wants me to stay and would it be cruel to make her sad? You don't want to be the villain, right ? "
“don’t try to manipulate me.”
" mmh, just telling the truth and it makes you mad. you can hate me if you want but she needs me. i'm her dad and you know if I wanted to, I could make her come with me but I love seeing you together. you're a great mom.”
"you will sleep on the couch. and that is non-negotiable. you don't try anything with me, is that okay?"
“Come on, we can sleep together. We are mature and consenting adults.” he replied. "There's nothing I haven't seen before, baby. I know all that lingerie as well as that body hidden behind it."
“about that, stop stalking my bills.”
"Mine , baby. you mean, my bills. these are my cards that you use for your pleasures so I have the right to have an eye on them. even more so when I receive bills for sex toys. you should call me instead of handling it? yourself.”
"After trying them, I'm not sure that you're big enough now. “
jesus, you knew how to provoke him and it worked. he had sniffed the air loudly, trying to contain himself because honestly, he only wanted one thing at the moment, a strong urge that was to fuck you dirty on that counter until he was sure to see your hole tearing to death and dripping to get his cock in. jesus, yeah, he would give anything to see you grimace because it will never fit in but prove you wrong by giving you a second baby.
his jaw was tense and his nostrils were flared. he was forced to clench his fist to avoid touching you. " the day when your babygirl will want a little sister or brother, you better be begging on all fours on my fucking doorstep to convince me to give you another baby. so better to start now and stretch that hole very hard before it's happening because i'm gonna make sure to be breeding you enough to change your whole dna. ”
“ aren't you tired of thr…”
“mom, dad, what are you talking about?” the little girl burst into the kitchen, still with her tiara on her head. a smile appeared when she saw that her dad was still there. because it was rare for him to stay that late.
you warned rafe with your eyes, slashing violently at pieces of vegetables with the knife back in your hand.
“ we were thinking that i could stay tonight. what's your thoughts on this, little one ? want daddy to stay ? ”
“ yes ! i don't want you to leave. stay foreveeeer with me. ”
“ but you know, he can't. he's a businessman. ” you replied.
“ what do you mean, baby ? my only business is right here. ”
” Rafe. ” you said.
“ Baby ? ” he replied with a cocky smile. “ Why don't you tell us what you're cooking ? Seems delicious. Maybe we could get a taste. ”
“ Sweetie, can you go to your room for a second ? I need to talk with your dad. It's not gonna be long. ”
She pouted but agreed after Rafe promised her something if she was listening to her mom.
“you know you can’t stay. "
"All I know is that there is my name in the papers of this house, on your bills, and even on your documents. If I can't stay, you can't escape. So what's better ? ”

CALEB'S POV
The faint hum of the Farspace fleet’s engines was a constant background noise, a rhythm that Caleb had grown accustomed to. It filled the silence as he walked down the dimly lit corridor toward the engineering bay, his gloved left hand flexing instinctively while his right hand remained eerily still. It wasn’t the arm itself that unnerved him anymore. No, he’d gotten used to the weight, the cool touch of the synthetic skin against his chest when he rested his hand there. What grated on him was the maintenance—the vulnerability of needing someone else to keep it functional.
The first time he’d come to the mechanic for maintenance, he had been indifferent, as he was to most things in his life. The arm was a tool, no more. Just another part of the machine that was Caleb, the Colonel. She was just another cog in the vast machine of the fleet, a means to an end. He barely remembered their first meeting beyond her clinical efficiency and soft voice, far removed from the barked commands of his officers or the detached drone of his superiors. She’d introduced herself simply, a name he didn’t bother committing to memory at the time, and had begun her work without wasting a second.
He’d sat in silence, his arm stretched out on the diagnostic table, his gaze fixed on the wall as she meticulously checked the connections and replaced worn components. She’d asked him questions—about the arm’s performance, any discomfort he’d noticed—but he’d only answered in monosyllables. He wasn’t trying to be rude; he just didn’t see the point.
She had been… different.
No. She spoke with compassion, with a voice that held an undercurrent of something human. When she’d first touched his arm to inspect it, there was no clinical detachment in her touch—no cold professionalism. Instead, there was a softness, a care.
But she kept showing up, week after week, her presence a constant thread in his routine. She didn’t just maintain his arm; she paid attention. She noticed when he was tense and adjusted her tone accordingly. When she worked, she hummed under her breath—a tune he couldn’t place but found oddly soothing. And unlike the professor who saw him as little more than a prototype for their next experiment, she treated him like a person.
Caleb first noticed it when she spoke to the other fleet members. The soldiers and officers with Toring chips embedded in their bodies, their minds augmented for efficiency but stripped of their individuality, were often treated as tools. Most of the crew barely acknowledged them, but she… she smiled at them. Asked about their day. Made sure they were comfortable during her examinations and modifications.
It wasn’t long before Caleb began to see her differently.
Their interactions changed subtly over time. He found himself lingering in the engineering bay longer than necessary, watching her work under the sharp white lights. She was focused, hands deft as they manipulated wires and micro-tools, her brow furrowed in concentration.
“You’re due for recalibration next week, Colonel.” she said during one session, not looking up from the neural interface she was fine-tuning.
“I’ll be here,” he replied. Then, after a pause, “You’re good at this.”
She glanced at him, surprised. “I’ve had a lot of practice.
“No,” he said, shaking his head. “Not just the work. The way you… treat people. You’re good at that, too.”
Her lips parted slightly, and for a moment, he thought she might dismiss the comment. But instead, she smiled—a soft, genuine thing that made something unfamiliar stir in his chest. “Everyone deserves to be treated like they matter.” she said simply, turning back to his arm.
He didn’t respond, but those words stayed with him long after he left the bay. Caleb watched her closely, taking note of every smile, every laugh, every time she showed kindness to someone else. It made something dark curl in his chest.
The first time Caleb intervened on her behalf, it was almost instinctual.
He was passing through the mess hall when he heard the sharp edge of Lieutenant Varro’s voice. “You know, for all your compassion, you take forever with repairs. Maybe stop coddling the freaks and do your job faster.”
Caleb froze, his blood turning cold. He rounded the corner to see Varro towering over her, his expression smug. She was holding a tray of food, her shoulders tense but her expression calm as she replied, “I do my job thoroughly, Lieutenant. If you’re unhappy with my work, you can file a complaint.”
Caleb’s steps faltered, his jaw tightening. A cold, simmering rage filled him as he turned to look at the man. He wanted to snap his neck right then and there, but he couldn’t let her see this side of him. Not yet.
So he smiled instead. A cold, calculating smile that sent a chill down Varro’s spine.
“Lieutenant,” Caleb said, his tone deceptively calm. “A word.”
Later that night, Varro didn’t return to his quarters. Whispers spread through the fleet about an "incident" during a routine maintenance check. Caleb made sure it looked like an accident—a malfunction in Varro's own bionic enhancements. No one questioned it, least of all her.
She remained blissfully unaware of the lengths Caleb went to for her.
As the days turned into weeks, Caleb’s obsession deepened. He found himself lingering in her workshop longer than necessary, watching her every move. She would smile at him, her eyes warm and kind, and Caleb would feel something he hadn’t felt since he left home for the DAA. A strange, aching need to keep her close.
“You know,” she said one day, her voice light, “you don’t always have to come here for repairs. You can just... visit, if you want.”
Caleb froze, his gaze locking onto hers. Did she know? Had she figured out how much he craved her presence? But her smile was so genuine, so innocent, that he realized she didn’t suspect a thing.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he said, his voice steady.
He told her about his family one evening, when the workshop was quiet and the rest of the fleet was asleep. He spoke of the girl he had grown up with, her fiery spirit, and the way she had  carved a place for herself in Linkon.
“She is strong…” Caleb said, his voice low. “Stronger than anyone I’ve ever known.”
She listened intently, her expression soft. “You must miss her.” she said gently.
Caleb hesitated. Did he? The memory of that girl felt distant, overshadowed by the woman sitting in front of him.
“I don’t think about her much anymore.” he admitted. “There are... other things on my mind.”
He didn’t elaborate, and she didn’t press.
But Caleb couldn’t stop thinking about her. He thought about the way her hands moved over his arm, the way her laughter echoed in the workshop, the way she seemed to light up the cold, sterile corridors of the fleet.
And when he saw other officers talking to her, laughing with her, something in him snapped. He didn’t like the way they looked at her. He didn’t like the idea of anyone else getting close to her.
Caleb began to manipulate things behind the scenes, ensuring that no one spent too much time with her. He assigned officers to tasks that kept them far away from her workshop. He spread subtle rumors, casting doubt on the intentions of anyone who showed too much interest in her.
She never noticed. She never questioned why the workshop seemed quieter, why fewer people came to her for help.
And Caleb made sure it stayed that way. In the privacy of his quarters, Caleb would sit in the dim light, his bionic hand flexing involuntarily as he thought about her. She was his. She didn’t know it yet, but she belonged to him.
And he would do whatever it took to keep her safe. To keep her close.
Even if it meant destroying anyone who stood in his way.
Tumblr media
YOUR POV
Lately, you’d noticed something strange.
The crew didn’t treat you the way they used to. At first, it was subtle—an officer averting his gaze when you greeted him in the corridor, a technician hurriedly ending a conversation when you approached. Then it became more blatant. People gave you a wide berth in the cafeteria, whispers died the moment you entered a room, and the occasional sidelong glances you caught were laced with something unspoken.
Fear.
It didn’t make sense. You’d always prided yourself on being approachable, on treating everyone with the respect they deserved. Sure, your work was demanding, and your position as the fleet’s biomechanical engineer meant you often had to be firm when it came to protocols, but you weren’t cruel. Far from it. You treated the crew like people, not machines.
But now? It was as though you carried some invisible aura that screamed danger.
And then there were the... incidents.
The first time, you brushed it off as coincidence. Lieutenant Gregor had been reassigned to another fleet without warning, just days after he’d mocked you during a team briefing. You’d chalked it up to bad luck or his own poor behavior catching up to him.
But then it happened again.
And again.
Officers and fleet members who dismissed your concerns, who snapped at you during high-stress missions, who made snide comments about your methods—they all disappeared. Some were reassigned to far-off posts, others were suddenly discharged for disciplinary reasons, and a few even suffered freak accidents that left them unfit for duty.
The pattern was impossible to ignore.
The only constant in all of this was the Colonel.
Or just Caleb, as he’d asked you to call him when it was just the two of you.
“Colonel” felt too formal, too distant, he’d said one evening as you adjusted the fine motor controls on his bionic hand. He’d leaned back in the chair, watching you with an intensity that made you feel both self-conscious and oddly comforted.
“Just Caleb,” he’d said, his voice softer than usual. “When we’re alone.”
You hadn’t thought much of it at the time. Over the past few months, he’d become a steady presence in your life, someone you found yourself looking forward to seeing.
And lately, he seemed to be around you more than ever.
It wasn’t just during maintenance sessions anymore. He’d stop by your workshop for no apparent reason, lingering by your workbench as you tinkered with your tools. He’d accompany you on supply runs, his tall frame a protective shadow at your side. When the fleet docked at Skyhaven for shore leave, he invited you to join him for coffee or walks through the market district. He’d cook for you and bring you meals to your residence in Skyhaven, unprompted.
It felt... nice.
You couldn’t deny that you enjoyed his company. Caleb had a dry sense of humor that never failed to catch you off guard, and there was a steadiness to him that you found grounding. Still, there was something about him—something you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
The way he always seemed to know when someone had upset you. The way his gaze lingered on you just a little too long, as if he were memorizing every detail. The way his voice dropped when he said your name, like it was a secret only he was allowed to keep.
You tried to push the thoughts aside. Caleb was your superior, your colonel. He’d never given you any reason to distrust him. And yet...
One evening, as you recalibrated the sensory feedback in his arm, you decided to bring it up.
“Have you noticed how people have been acting lately?” you asked, keeping your tone light as you adjusted a tiny screw. “It’s like they think I’m some kind of... I don’t know, threat or something.”
You glanced up at Caleb, expecting him to shrug it off with one of his usual dry remarks. Instead, his body tensed, just for a moment. If you hadn’t been watching him so closely, you might have missed it.
“What makes you say that?” he asked, his voice carefully neutral.
“It’s just a feeling.” you said, turning back to his arm. “People avoiding me, whispering when they think I can’t hear. And then there are the reassignment orders. It’s like anyone who crosses me is... gone.”
There was a long pause.
“It’s nothing.” Caleb said finally. “Tensions have been high since the last Deepspace tunnel exploration. People are on edge.”
You frowned but didn’t press the issue. Maybe he was right. The fleet had been through a lot recently, and stress had a way of making people act strangely. Still, something about his explanation didn’t sit right with you.
“Yeah,” you said, forcing a smile. “That makes sense.”
But it didn’t. Not entirely.
Still, you knew better than to poke your nose where it didn’t belong. You’d learned long ago that asking too many questions could lead to trouble, and trouble was the last thing you needed.
So you stayed in your lane, focusing on your work and pretending not to notice the way Caleb’s presence seemed to permeate every aspect of your life. You told yourself it was fine, that his increased attention was nothing to worry about. After all, you trusted Caleb. He’d always been kind to you, always treated you with respect. And if his gaze lingered a little too long, if his touch was a little too gentle when he handed you a tool, if his smile held a hint of something darker—you ignored it.
Because Caleb was the only person who hadn’t changed. The only person who still treated you like... you.
The ship was silent at night, the hum of its engines a low, constant thrum beneath your feet as you walked through the dimly lit corridors. You’d been restless, the bitter taste of Lieutenant Reese’s words still fresh in your mind. The new Lieutenant had been transferred to Caleb’s fleet three weeks ago and was already causing tensions within the hierarchy of how things ran in the fleet.
“Guess even engineers need quotas filled, huh? They really let anyone take up space on this ship these days,” he had sneered during a systems check earlier. “Bet you’ve only kept this position because someone up high likes the way you look.”
His smirk had twisted into something crueler as he leaned closer. “Face it. You’re not here because you’re good—you’re here because you’re convenient.”
The humiliation burned as much now as it had then. You clenched your fists at the memory, your footsteps echoing softly against the metal floor. You’d worked too hard, poured too much of yourself into your work, to have it dismissed so callously. And yet, his words lingered like a stain, refusing to be scrubbed away.
You were so lost in thought that you almost didn’t hear the sound.
A muffled grunt. A crash.
And then—a sickening crunch.
You froze. Every instinct screamed at you to turn back, to return to your quarters and pretend you hadn’t heard anything. But your curiosity—or perhaps some misplaced sense of duty—compelled you forward. Quietly, you padded down the corridor, following the noise until you reached a maintenance bay.
What you saw made your breath catch in your throat.
Caleb stood over Lieutenant Reese, who was slumped against the wall, blood smeared across his face. The lieutenant’s arm hung at an unnatural angle, his body trembling as he let out a pained whimper. Caleb’s hand was clamped tightly around Reese’s throat, his grip firm but not enough to choke.
Not yet.
“You thought you could get away with it?” Caleb said, his voice low and steady, each word laced with venom. “Insulting her. Undermining her. Disrespecting her.”
Reese tried to stammer out a response, but Caleb’s hand tightened, silencing him.
“You signed your life away the moment you opened your mouth.” Caleb continued, his tone almost conversational, as if he were discussing something as mundane as a supply requisition. “She’s worth more than you’ll ever be. Do you even understand that?”
Reese’s legs kicked weakly, his breaths ragged. Caleb tilted his head, his expression shifting from cold fury to mild disappointment.
“Pathetic!” he muttered, releasing the lieutenant’s throat. Reese crumpled to the ground, wheezing and coughing. Caleb watched him for a moment, then raised his foot and brought it down sharply on Reese’s hand. The sound of bones breaking echoed in the bay.
The lieutenant went limp, his body a lifeless heap. Caleb crouched beside him, his expression one of disdain. “Weak,” he said, his voice barely audible.
And then he turned his head, his gaze locking onto you.
The moment seemed to stretch, the air thick with tension. Caleb’s expression shifted from cold to shocked in the blink of an eye, but his eyes—the ones that had always been so warm towards you—now seemed empty, calculating.
He stood still for a moment, then took a step toward you, his movements slow, deliberate. His voice was a whisper, but it cut through the silence like a blade.
“Don’t be scared,” Caleb said softly, though there was an edge to his words. “I’m just protecting you. I would never let anyone hurt you, never.”
Your mind raced, your pulse quickening. You’d seen this side of Caleb before—quiet, intense, protective—but this? This was something else. He was different.
“Protected me?” you repeated, your heart pounding. “From what?”
“From him,” Caleb replied, gesturing to Reese’s motionless form. “He disrespected you. He questioned your worth. He hurt you.”
His gaze softened, and he took another step closer. “I won’t allow that. Not from him. Not from anyone.”
“This—this isn’t right,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. “You can’t just—”
“I can,” Caleb interrupted, his tone firm but not unkind. “And I will. You may not see it now, but this is what’s necessary.”
You stared at him, searching for any hint of remorse, but there was none. Only conviction.
“I’ll always protect you.” he continued, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “Even when you think you don’t need it. Even when you don’t understand why.”
You took a step back, your mind racing. But even as you tried to process what you’d seen and heard, a cold realization settled over you.
He closed the distance between you, his steps soft but purposeful, until he was standing right in front of you. His face was close, too close, his breath warm against your skin. “You’ve been through so much,” he continued, his voice soothing, almost affectionate. “You don’t need to worry about the people who don’t understand you. I’ll always protect you.” He repeats. “Even when you don’t ask for it.”
You swallowed; your throat dry. You should have been afraid, terrified even. But you weren’t. A part of you was frozen, caught in the web of his words, of his gaze. He was so sure of himself, so confident, and it was hard not to believe him when he looked at you like that.
His hand reached up, brushing a strand of hair from your face, his fingers lingering just a moment longer than necessary.
“You’re mine,” Caleb whispered, his words not a command but a promise. “No one will ever take you from me. Not ever.”
You should have questioned it, should have asked him what he meant, why he was doing this. But you didn’t. Because in that moment, you realized you couldn’t escape.
Not really.
You knew who Caleb was. You knew what he was capable of. And you knew that the resources of the Farspace Fleet, the professor, and Caleb’s power meant there was no running, no hiding from him. You’d seen what happened to those who crossed you. And now, you didn’t doubt for a second that Caleb was behind it.
But what unnerved you most was the way he looked at you now. Not with malice, not with cruelty, but with something softer. Something almost tender.
“Stay.” he said, his voice coaxing. “I’ll keep you safe. You don’t need to worry about anything else.”
You swallowed hard, your mind screaming at you to run, to fight, to do anything but stand there. And yet... you nodded.
Because deep down, you knew he was right about one thing.
Caleb would never hurt you.
As long as you stayed.
He would never let anyone touch you. He would never let anyone harm you.
You were his, and he was yours.
At least, that’s what you told yourself as you stood there, the weight of his gaze heavy on you.
And as Caleb stepped back, his eyes softening, a reassuring smile tugging at his lips, you knew one thing for certain: you were far past the point of no return.
And maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t so bad.

This was the piece that I had started before my extensive vacation (of coughing). Once again, Alastor is consistently the bane of my existence with his... well everything.
No matter! Anyway, this is something I like to call the Obsession AU. To sum it up real fast: Everyone is yandere for Alastor. I think it would just be apart of his punishment in Hell, being consistently forced into or desired in romantic/sex which he's never had much interest in. I would describe it as a dark comedy thing, but it can be as comedic or as dark as you want here. With that said, please be on guard with any mentions of darker content that treds towards a certain dead bird territory when I get a bit into how I imagine some of the characters. Again, it doesn't have to go that far if you're interested in this premise of an au and wanna focus on the more light hearted stuff, feel free.
This au is just poking a bit of fun at how everyone in the fandom wants to put Alastor in romantic situations constantly (whether it be with themselves or the other characters) despite Alastor probably being the least interested in the subject in the whole show. This is by no means a hate train or making fun of people who do enjoy shipping Alastor, it just more of a funny thing I think comes off as pretty ironic for his character and hopefully, others can enjoy that too. In this au he leans pretty much on the clear-cut side of aromantic and asexual with no interest in romantic affections at all. With that said, if you want to explore Alastor genuinely being interested in one of the other characters romantically or something similar, feel free to explore that! I can see some interesting dichotomies there. It's just within the actual "canon" of this au, he's not at all interested with that sort of thing. And just with a last final reminder to get into some character things I have in mind, some of the content mentioned does get pretty dark, particularly with Valentino but I don't think anyone's surprised there. But there might be some triggering content of the following mentioned here with characters but no crazy details really: Manipulation/Gaslighting, forced feminization, Non-con, Munchausen syndrome, Poisoning, Possessive, Drugging, Love bombing And I will be sure to give a quick warning to each character it might apply to, please feel free to let me know if I missed anything!
Rosie (Munchausen syndrome, Poisoning): Rosie has 100% poisoned Alastor before to make sure he relies on her. They started off as good friends but at some point Alastor began getting ill and Rosie offered to take care of him. This leads to Alastor staying in bed for full days, only really seeing Rosie who took care of his every need from food, clothing, washing, and so on. At some point, Alastor caught on that Rosie was putting something in his food to make him sick and he managed to escape with their friendship tarnished much to his dismay. He's often uneasy around Rosie but is upfront about his knowledge of Rosie's deeds. Rosie, in turn, acts like it is a lighthearted situation and often offers Alastor over for lunch, which he often denies. Any food he gets at his doorstep from a secret admirer or a lunchbox he finds at his seat in an overlord meeting goes straight into the trash. Alastor will still use Rosie's assets to his benefit of course, but is always careful as to what she might try to get in exchange. He has had more awkward lunches with her with his homemade meal versus the buffet she catered for the occasion, with the two gossiping like old times. Alastor is still uneasy during these times, but he also revels in the false pleasantries due to not having many others he's able to associate himself with due to the curse.
Lucifer (Controlling, Possessive, Manipulation): So I'm not 100% clear how I wanted to approach Lucifer. He and Charlie are probably the most similar I suppose? He wants Alastor as his queen (either alongside him and Lilith or only with him, he doesn't mind either way). He doesn't force him into dresses or anything, but Lucifer does consistently make doting moves and talks about how Alastor would make a good father to their children. Marriage is one of the mind and Lucifer probably gets a bit possessive with him. He also tries to guilt trip Alastor a lot, or manipulate situations in one of their arguments to get Alastor to say something he doesn't mean.
Charlie (Controlling, Possessive): Probably the most tame of everyone quite honestly. Charlie can be a bit controlling but does step off when Alastor expresses his dislike of her doing so, even if it takes a couple times. She likes doing things for him, is super affectionate, and daydreams about her, Vaggie, and Alastor all getting married. She can get pretty possessive with him, not being pleased when anybody does anything against Alastor's will or hurt him. The only exception to this rule is Vaggie, to which Charlie sees it like two cats getting along and finds it very endearing.
Vaggie (Forced Feminization, Controlling, Murder): Depending on how you look at it, Vaggie's one of the more fucked up obsessions or one of the more funnier ones. Because she's automatically inclined to like Alastor quite a bit with the curse thing but her personality doesn't jive with his for her own taste (in terms of their first meeting), she both hates and loves the guy. She's obsessed with trying to murder Alastor with traps around the hotel or outright standing over him with her spear. The hatred comes primarily from not wanting to feel the way she does about him, I guess like a fucked up tsundere if you wanna go that route. At the same token, however, she does want Alastor to be involved with both her and Charlie romantically. There's just one little problem: Vaggie has about the same amount of interest in men as she does in canon. So to sort of "fix" Alastor, she consistently tries to force him to be more feminine in clothing, offering different feminine names, and even trying to force him to get a sex change. Alastor is pretty slippery though, so it never quite works out in Vaggie's favor aside from the occasional dress or skirt being worn, which solidifies her attraction to him. Then he takes it off and looks more like a man again, and it solidifies her frustration/hatred for him.
Angel Dust (Drugging): To start, while I think Angel would love to have sex with Alastor, he 100% would not force it. Wouldn't even do touches or anything. Potentially he could just like as a coping (to be in a situation where HE'S the one in control), but that is a darker route that I don't think will be exactly true for this AU. However, he very much enjoys drugging Alastor similar to Rosie. Not only just as a bonding thing since Angel would also do the drugs WITH him, but just to get the not-quite-lucid compliments from Alastor and maybe a snuggle then and there. He wants to dote on Alastor with him drugged out in his bed saying nice things to Angel. Admittedly this one's a bit of a workshop as I just knew I didn't want Angel to be focused on sex like somebody, but wasn't sure what to do here.
Valentino(Non-con, LoveBombing): I mean... it is Valentino, what did you THINK he'd be trying to do with Alastor? There's really not much to say here, Valentino essentially tries pulling all the stops trying to get Alastor in bed while also love-bombing the hell out of him. Which really doesn't work. Valentino is pretty open with sharing Alastor, but again, does this surprise anyone? As long as he's participating in some way, he really doesn't mind.
Vox (ALL warnings): Pretty much the worst version of himself that people make him be sometimes for those darker stories in the fandom. While more interested in having an enthusiastic partner, I don't think Vox would be opposed to forcing himself onto Alastor. He consistently tries to manipulate and gaslight, while enjoying both the suffering and pleasure of Alastor. Much like Vaggie, Vox is obsessed both being in love with Alastor while also downright hating him to the core. He's possessive and likes the idea of being both sweet and heinous with Alastor. He pretty much is every other character wrapped up in one fucked up TV man. Vox acts the most well-adjusted of the characters here, but he's probably got the obsession the worst.
And of course, pretty much every other conceivable ship is up for grabs here. I did think about maybe unfallen angels are able to resist the obsession curse, which would possibly make a funny team-up of Alastor, Adam, Lute, and Emily. Alternatively, I thought maybe the other canonically asexual characters in the show wouldn't be affected instead, meaning another oddball team-up of Alastor, Octavia, and Mammon. Then there is of course the "nope, there's no escape for deer man". Not sure yet, maybe I'll workshop it. I have more normal things in the works rather than this messed up little au, but darker content is a guilty pleasure of mine.

request. can i request yandere stray kids' reaction to you breaking up with them, at least trying to? if i can request something else as well, a general headcanon to the type of yanderes they each would be.
「 ୨୧ authors note 」 you asked for two things so i tried to combine them to , i hope you don’t mind !
Tumblr media
﹙ 𐙚 : bangchan ﹚ .ᐟ
chan is a manipulative yandere; he knows how to flip a situation and make you seem like you’re in the wrong. “you want to leave?” he asks with disappointment leaking in his voice. “did i do something wrong?” he sounds hurt. “i just don’t think we’re gonna work out anymore , you’re too controlling.” he tries not to get mad, “controlling? is me wanting to protect you too controlling?” you cant answer him. “my friends don’t even want to hang out with me because you’re always there.” he complain. “i can’t even go out with out you.” chan is smart though, he knows how to gaslight you. “what happens when you go out? when you went clubbing and that guy tried to take advantage of you , your friends are just jealous , do they have boyfriend who want better for them? no.” he said. “I do this because I love you.” he said , you start to feel bad. “if you want to leave then i can’t stop you but just know everything i did for you.” by then you already feel like shit , how could you do this to him? you couldn’t leave him when he cared so much for you. “i-im sorry.” you held your head down in shame. “it’s my fault for listening to my friends.” you don’t even notice his menacing smile, cause he knew he had you once again.
“it okay , but you know i can’t just let this be.”
﹙ 𐙚 : lee know ﹚ .ᐟ
lee know is a unpredictable yandere; one minute he’s calm, the next minute he’s lashing out , throwing things and breaking them. “leave? sure you can go out for a few hours , be home by 9:30 — no leave for good.” he stops petting the cat , looking up at you. his gaze alone is enough to scare you into submission , but you stand your ground. “i want to leave for good.” he doesn’t say anything just stands up. “no.” he walks away. “no? you can’t stop me from leaving , let’s just end this before things get worse.” he’s calm and level headed , until you piss him off which is what this conversation was doing. “did you not hear what the fuck i said!” he shouted , slamming the plate down into the sink , shattering it. “minho I can’t do this!” you shouted back , but he grabs your shirt , pushing you against the wall. “you don’t get it do you? you aren’t leaving.” he says threateningly. “i will kill you before letting you go.” and you know he’s serious. “i-im sorry.”
“that’s better , now go feed the cats while i clean the mess you made up.”
﹙ 𐙚 : changbin ﹚ .ᐟ
you can’t leave him; you want to but he made it so you can’t. changbin will make it so you’re so dependent on him before you decide to end the relationship that you it’s too late when you want to call it quits. “where will you go?” he asks. “you don’t have a job, when’s the last time you paid a bill?” he’s so relaxed about the situation. “i can get one and i can pay my own bills.” you respond. “you’d forget to feed yourself if i didn’t cook for you, or buy you food don’t be stupid.” if that doesn’t work he’ll just scare you into staying; he won’t ever hit you… that being said he might not hit you but he will use physical strength to scare you ( think about that one video of him holding seungmin by his arms and wrist ). “please let me- listen here.” he squeezed the back of your neck. “ch-changbin please, do-don’t hurt me.”
“i wont hurt you , but you need to drop this shit and drop it now.”
﹙ 𐙚 : hyunjin ﹚ .ᐟ
hyune is confusing ; he doesn’t really see what he does is wrong; so what he doesn’t let you out? what’s the reason for you to go out there when he’s inside here. “i can’t do this anymore.” he’s just sitting there painting as usual , not really listening because you’re being ridiculous. “are you listening.” he turns to you. “are you done?” and you’re just in shock. “good , go sit down.” doesn’t truly believe you’d leave. “hyunjin i said im leaving, i can’t stand being in here anymore.” that’s when he drops his paintbrush. “i said go sit down.” when you walk towards the door is when he fully gets up. he’s not violent — unless he needs to be, so he will rough you up , grabbing you by your shirt , throwing you on the bed. “why can’t you just fucking listen?” he curses. “there’s nothing out there for you , you can’t get any better then here.” he says , throwing your bag of clothes in the closet. “if you get up again , throwing you to bed will be the least of your problems.”
“now sit there and be good, like i said the first time , i won’t tell you again.”
﹙ 𐙚 : jisung ﹚ .ᐟ
jisung is a unhinged manipulative yandere; and his entire life is revolves around you. you’re the reason he breathes every morning. so if you aren’t there, what’s the point? “jisung we have to end this, this isn’t safe for either of us.” you held a bag in your hand full of your stuff. “look at your arms and legs they’re all cut up.” he stared at you with tears in his eyes. “i did it to show you how much i love you, why don’t you understand i love you so much im willingly to kill myself for you.” you stopped him. “that’s the problem ji , you’re not well. he’ll cry — very loudly , cries likes he’s been stabbed because in his head he might as well have been. “no! you said you love me! if you leave me i’ll kill myself , i really will.” he goes immediately to the knife he’s hidden because you threw the rest out. “jisung where did you get that?” he doesn’t answer , just puts it to his throat.
“the moment you step out the door i’ll do it.”
﹙ 𐙚 : felix ﹚ .ᐟ
his obsession with you is too strong for him to let you go; even if his heart is telling him to, his brain is louder , he’s basically fighting himself and his brain is winning. “felix please let me go!” your legs were now tied to the bed , one arm connected to the bedpost as he tried to feed you. “im not hungry i want to leave!” you shouted , which made him flinch. “i-i can’t.” he says. “i know it’s wrong , you should be out there living life , but i just can’t.” he can’t let you leave him , he needs you. “I need you with me okay , i can’t breathe without you dove.” puts drugs in your food to keep you docile , he doesn’t want to hurt you , he’s probably the less dangerous one towards you at least. “im sorry please just drink some water.” you give in not thinking its drugged — until you involuntarily start to drift off. “fe-felix.” you can hear the sadness in his voice , he genuinely feel’s guilty. “im sorry, im so sorry.”
“i just love you so much i can’t let you go.”
﹙ 𐙚 : seungmin ﹚ .ᐟ
i have said this before; seungmin knows you’ll leave regardless if he forces you to stay or doesn’t ; not matter if he threatens you, hits you, whatever. so he lets you go, that’s fine go — but not without a cost , guess you finally decided you no longer wanted your friend alive… otherwise you wouldn't have made the stupid decision of leaving him. “what did you do?” you dropped your phone upon entering his house. he has lured you there calling you from your friends phone… the friend who was currently bleeding on the ground; beaten mercilessly. “why the fuck did you have a male friend anyway if not to be a whore , should’ve killed him months ago. literally doesn’t care if you’re crying. “don’t cry now , this is your fault.” he said. “told you , I won’t ever hurt you.” he said the knife bloody , pointed at you.
“but everyone else is free game , these are just flesh bags to me, they mean more to you than me.”
﹙ 𐙚 : jeongin ﹚ .ᐟ
jeongin is a yandere who likes to play games; you want to break up? go ahead and leave. when you do , he’ll actually leave you alone for a while , let you live your life, even let you get a new boyfriend. but that’s just cause he wants you to think he’s gone; give you that high; before the low. everything is so good — then suddenly you lose your job, so you have no income; then your boyfriend suddenly breaks up with you no warning. it’s like everything went to shit , and who is there to pick up all your broken pieces? well jeongin is there with open arms, ready for you to step right into them, but not without consequences. see that job you lost? jeongin called in a favor and got you fired. that boyfriend? well let’s just say jeongin sent a few photos of the both of you together and it was the end of that. “you see how i did all that.” he tells you after you sobbed in his arms after he told you what he did.
“i can make this much worse , don’t ever think of leaving me again.”

MINORS DNI!
A/n: yall I’m sorry this took so long, I have work & school during the week and low-key got lazy lol but it’s finally here!!! Lmk if yall fw it. I love feedback. Lmk what you think!! <3
…………………….
The room feels smaller now, the air pressing down on you like it’s alive, like it’s conspiring with him. Every second ticks by painfully, loud and sharp in your ears. You swear you can feel the weight of his gaze on you, heavy and unrelenting.
“If you walk out that door,” Su-bong says again, his voice low, deliberate, “you’ll never see me again.”
There’s no anger in his tone, no malice. Just a quiet certainty that chills you to your core. It should feel like a relief—like a clean break. But instead, it feels like a threat wrapped in a promise.
Your hands tighten around your phone. Ji-hye’s name still flashes on the screen like a lifeline you’re too afraid to grab.
“Why would you say that?” Your voice is barely above a whisper.
“Because it’s the truth,” he says, tilting his head slightly, his eyes narrowing as he watches you. “I don’t want to play games anymore, Y/N. I can’t do this halfway. Either you stay, and we figure this out together, or you leave… and that’s it.”
The simplicity of his words makes them hit harder. They slice through you like glass, leaving behind wounds you can’t see but can feel.
“You don’t mean that,” you say, your voice trembling despite your best efforts to keep it steady.
His lips curl into a faint, humorless smile. “Don’t I?”
You feel like the floor is shifting beneath you, like the ground you’ve been standing on has suddenly turned to quicksand. “You’re just saying that to scare me,” you accuse.
“Am I?” His voice is calm, measured, but there’s a sharp edge beneath it. “You think I don’t mean it, but deep down, you know I do. You know I’ve always meant it when it comes to you.”
“Stop,” you say, your voice cracking.
“Why?” he presses, taking a slow step toward you. He’s close now, too close, his presence overwhelming. “Because you don’t want to hear it? Because you don’t want to admit that it scares you?”
“I’m not scared of you,” you shoot back, even though your heart is hammering in your chest.
“No,” he says softly, almost thoughtfully. “You’re not scared of me. You’re scared of what happens if you leave. You’re scared because you don’t know who you are without me.”
Your stomach twists violently. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I know exactly what I’m talking about.” His voice softens, but that only makes it worse. “You don’t want to leave, Y/N. You’re just trying to convince yourself that you do. But we both know the truth. You’ve always been afraid of being alone.”
Your breath catches in your throat. “That’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?” His words are quiet, but they land with the force of a wrecking ball. “You stayed with me for two years, even when you knew you should’ve left. You forgave me for things most people wouldn’t. And why? Because you didn’t want to be alone. Because you don’t know how to be alone.”
Tears sting at the corners of your eyes, but you refuse to let them fall. “You don’t get to do this,” you say, your voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation. “You don’t get to make this about me. You’re the one who—”
“I’m not making this about you,” he interrupts, his tone sharpening. “I’m just telling you the truth. You don’t want to hear it, fine. But don’t act like I’m the bad guy for saying it.”
You let out a shaky breath, your chest heaving as you struggle to hold yourself together. “You don’t know anything about me anymore.”
He scoffs, the sound low and bitter. “I know everything about you, Y/N. I know how you think, how you feel. I know you better than anyone, including Ji-hye.”
The mention of her name sends a jolt through you, sharp and electric.
“that’s who you’ve been talking to, right?” he asks, his voice dropping into something quieter, more dangerous. “Ji-hye?”
Your throat tightens. “She’s my friend. Of course I’ve been talking to her.”
“About me?” His question is calm, but there’s something venomous just beneath the surface.
“She’s my best friend,” you say, lifting your chin even though your hands are shaking. “I tell her everything.”
His jaw tightens, his lips pressing into a thin line. “I thought what we had was private. I guess I was wrong.”
“Private?” you repeat, your voice rising. “You’ve been calling me nonstop for weeks, leaving voicemails threatening to kill yourself, and now you want to talk about privacy?”
“That’s different,” he snaps, his control slipping for the first time.
“Is it?” you shoot back, your voice cracking. “Because it feels a hell of a lot like you’re just mad that I told someone the truth about you.”
He steps closer, and you instinctively take a step back. “You’re the one dragging her into this,” he says, his voice low but cutting. “You’re the one making this worse.”
“She’s worried about me!” you shout, your emotions spilling over, raw and unfiltered. “She’s worried because she knows what you’re like!”
His expression darkens, his gaze boring into yours. “She doesn’t know you like I do. She doesn’t know what you’re like when you’re falling apart. When you’re scared. When you don’t know what you want.”
“I know what I want!” you yell, your voice breaking. “I want to leave!”
The words hang in the air, heavy and suffocating.
“Then go,” he says, his tone soft but razor-sharp. “But don’t come back. Because if you walk out that door, Y/N…” He pauses, his gaze steady and unrelenting. “I promise you’ll never see me again.”
Your chest tightens, panic clawing at your insides. “What does that mean?”
“It means I’m done,” he says simply. “I’m done chasing you, done begging you to talk to me, done waiting for you to figure out what you want.”
You stare at him, your mind racing, your pulse pounding in your ears. “You don’t mean that.”
“Yes, I do.”
Your phone buzzes again in your hand, the sound startling you. You glance down at the screen, Ji-hye’s name flashing like a lifeline.
“She’s outside,” you say, your voice trembling. “She’s waiting for me.”
He doesn’t react at first. And then—
“Of course she is.” His lips curl into something that isn’t quite a smile. “You always need someone to save you, don’t you?”
The words hit you like a slap, the sting radiating through your chest.
“Fuck you,” you whisper, your voice breaking.
“Go ahead,” he says, stepping aside and gesturing toward the door. “Run to her. But don’t pretend you’re doing this for you. We both know you don’t have the guts to face this on your own.”
Your legs feel like lead, your heart pounding as you take a shaky step toward the door.
And as you reach for the handle, his voice cuts through the silence one last time.
“When you realize I’m right,” he says softly, “don’t bother coming back.”
You don’t look at him as you open the door.
But you feel his eyes on you the whole way out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The car door shuts behind you with a heavy, final thud.
For a moment, there’s only the sound of your own ragged breathing, loud and uneven in the stillness of the cabin. The air inside feels thick, stagnant. You reach for your seatbelt with trembling hands, but the buckle slips from your fingers twice before you manage to click it into place.
Ji-hye doesn’t start the car. She doesn’t even move.
Her knuckles are wrapped tight around the steering wheel, her nails biting into the leather. The dim glow of the dashboard casts her face in sharp relief — her set jaw, the hard line of her mouth, the slight tremble in her lips she’s fighting to keep still.
Her eyes flicker toward you, then away, like she can’t bear to look too long. “You okay?” she asks, her voice low, strained. The question sounds more like an accusation than concern.
You nod — a jerky, unconvincing motion that does nothing to quiet the storm inside you. “I’m fine,” you lie, your voice breaking on the last syllable.
Her fingers tighten on the wheel, the tendons standing out in sharp relief. “You don’t look fine.”
“I just…” You press your hands to your lap, flattening them against the fabric of your dress to keep them from shaking. “I just want to go home.”
She exhales sharply, the sound cutting through the silence like a knife. But she doesn’t start the car.
“What happened, Y/N?” Her voice is still low, but there’s an edge to it now — a tremor beneath the surface, like she’s holding herself back from grabbing you by the shoulders and shaking the truth out of you.
“Nothing happened,” you say too quickly, too defensively.
Ji-hye’s head snaps toward you, her eyes narrowing. “Don’t bullshit me.”
You flinch at the sharpness in her tone, the anger laced through it, though you know it’s not directed at you.
“I…” You shake your head, your breath hitching. “I don’t know.”
Her jaw tightens. She turns back to the steering wheel, but her fingers twitch against it, like she’s holding herself back from punching something. “What the fuck does that mean, you don’t know?”
“I mean I don’t remember!” The words explode out of you before you can stop them, loud and jagged and filled with panic. Your chest heaves, and your eyes sting as the tears start to well up again. “I don’t fucking remember, Ji-hye! I blacked out, okay? I don’t know what happened!”
She goes still, completely still, her hands frozen on the wheel. Slowly, she turns to look at you again. “You don’t remember anything?”
Your breath hitches, and you shake your head.
Her gaze sharpens, her eyes scanning your face like she’s searching for the pieces of a puzzle you can’t see. “But you woke up there,” she says finally, her voice quieter now but no less intense. “At his place.”
You nod, and the weight of the admission makes your chest tighten, makes the shame press down harder.
Ji-hye leans back in her seat, dragging a hand through her hair. “Fuck,” she mutters under her breath.
Her reaction makes your stomach churn. “I—” Your voice cracks, and you have to swallow hard before you can speak again. “I don’t know if anything happened.”
Her head snaps toward you again, her eyes widening. “What do you mean?”
“I mean I don’t know,” you whisper, the tears spilling over now, hot and relentless. You clutch at your dress, twisting the fabric in your fists as the words come tumbling out. “I don’t remember getting there. I don’t remember going to bed. But when I woke up—” Your voice falters, your breath hitching painfully. “There were bruises, Ji-hye. On my thighs. And my underwear was—” You choke on the words, unable to finish the sentence.
The silence in the car is suffocating.
Ji-hye doesn’t say anything for a long moment, and when you finally glance at her, her expression makes your chest tighten even more. Her lips are pressed into a thin line, and her eyes are dark, her gaze fixed on the dashboard like she’s barely holding herself together.
“You think he—” She can’t even finish the question.
“I don’t know,” you whisper, the words barely audible. “I don’t know, Ji-hye. But what if he didn’t? What if I’m just overthinking it? What if I’m—”
“Stop.” Her voice cuts through your rambling, sharp and commanding. She turns to you fully now, her gaze locking onto yours. “Stop right there. Don’t you dare blame yourself for this. Don’t you fucking dare.”
“But—”
“There is no ‘but,’” she snaps, her voice rising. “You were drunk, Y/N. If he did anything — anything — that you didn’t consent to, it’s not your fault. Do you understand me?”
You can’t answer. Your throat is too tight, your chest heaving as you fight to keep yourself together.
Ji-hye exhales sharply, dragging her hands through her hair again. “Fuck,” she mutters under her breath, her voice trembling now. “That fucking piece of shit.”
Her words make your stomach twist, the nausea bubbling up again. “What if I—”
“You didn’t do anything,” she cuts you off again, her voice softening but no less firm. “Do you hear me? You didn’t do anything wrong. He’s the one—” She stops herself, her voice breaking on the last word. She clenches her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
The silence stretches between you, heavy and unbearable.
Finally, Ji-hye starts the car, but she doesn’t drive. The engine hums beneath you, the only sound in the suffocating quiet.
“What do I do?” you whisper, your voice trembling.
Ji-hye’s hands tighten on the wheel. She stares straight ahead, her gaze burning with quiet fury. “You don’t go back to him,” she says, her voice steady now. “Not ever. I don’t care what it takes, Y/N. He doesn’t get to be a part of your life anymore.”
You swallow hard, her words cutting through the fog in your mind like a lifeline.
“We’ll figure it out,” Ji-hye says, her voice softening. She reaches over, her hand resting on yours. Her grip is warm and steady, grounding you. “I promise. Whatever you need, I’ll be here.”
The weight of her words sinks into you, anchoring you to the moment. You don’t know what comes next. You don’t know if you’ll ever be able to put the pieces of last night together.
But for now, you let her words steady you. For now, you let yourself believe her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The air smells like caramelized sugar and charred meat. Smoke curls from food stalls, the sizzle of grilling pork belly mingling with the faintly sweet aroma of tteokbokki simmering in spicy sauce. Somewhere in the distance, someone’s laughing, the sound light and bright, cutting through the low hum of the crowd.
Ji-hye’s arm loops through yours, her grip warm and grounding as she steers you through the maze of vendors. It’s loud here, chaotic in the way only street markets can be, but you’ve missed it—this pulsing rhythm of life, the neon lights reflecting off puddles of rainwater on the pavement, the voices overlapping as vendors shout over one another to hawk their food.
“Y/N,” Ji-hye says, tilting her head toward a stall where skewers of fish cake glisten in the warm glow of a heat lamp. “You want one?”
You start to shake your head, but the look on her face stops you. She’s been trying so hard to pull you out of your own head, to make you laugh, to make you eat.
“Sure,” you say. Your voice feels foreign, stiff and distant, but Ji-hye beams anyway.
She orders two skewers, handing one to you before taking a bite of her own. “This is the best part about winter,” she says, her words muffled around a mouthful of food. “I swear I could eat eomuk every single day.”
You take a bite, the broth-soaked fish cake warm and savory on your tongue. It’s good—comforting, even—but it doesn’t reach the hollow ache in your chest.
Ji-hye is still talking, something about the new club opening next weekend, but her voice fades into the background as your gaze snags on something across the street.
Purple hair.
Your breath catches in your throat, the skewer trembling slightly in your hand. It’s not him—it’s a girl, her hair cropped short and spiked, her face unfamiliar—but your body doesn’t know the difference.
Your heart is racing, the world around you narrowing to a pinpoint. The noise of the market fades, replaced by the pounding of your pulse in your ears.
“Y/N?” Ji-hye’s voice cuts through the haze, her hand on your arm.
You blink, your chest heaving as you drag your gaze away from the girl. “What?”
“Are you okay?” Her brow furrows, concern etched into every line of her face.
“I’m fine,” you say quickly, forcing a shaky smile. “I just—thought I saw someone I knew.”
Her lips press together, like she doesn’t believe you, but she doesn’t push. Instead, she squeezes your arm and changes the subject, dragging you to the next stall.
The rest of the evening passes in a blur. You smile when Ji-hye laughs, nod when she talks, but your mind is elsewhere. Your skin feels too tight, your senses stretched thin. Every shout from a vendor, every gust of cigarette smoke, every glimpse of purple in the crowd sends your heart skittering in your chest.
When you finally part ways with Ji-hye, your cheeks ache from forcing smiles, and your stomach churns with the weight of pretending.
The walk home is quiet. The market’s noise fades into the background as you leave it behind, replaced by the distant hum of traffic and the occasional bark of a stray dog.
Your apartment building looms ahead, its shadow stretching long and dark across the street.
You reach the door, your fingers trembling slightly as you punch in the code. The lock beeps, the door clicking open, and you step inside, the familiar scent of your apartment wrapping around you like a blanket.
Safe.
You kick off your shoes, leaving them by the door. The silence is heavy, pressing, but it’s better than the noise. Better than the chaos.
You make your way to the bathroom, the tiles cold under your bare feet. The fluorescent light flickers to life, casting your reflection in sharp relief.
You look… tired.
But not the same kind of tired you were before. It’s different now—less hollow, less fragile. Still frayed around the edges, but stitched together enough to pass.
You wash your face, the cool water shocking against your skin. Your movements are slow, methodical, each step of your routine grounding you just a little more.
The week since you left Su-bong’s apartment has been a blur.
You’ve thrown yourself into small, safe routines: going to work, meeting Ji-hye for meals, scrolling aimlessly through your phone until sleep overtakes you. Anything to fill the silence. Anything to drown out the questions.
For the first time in years, you feel like you’re breathing again. Slowly. Unevenly. But breathing.
Ji-hye says you look better. Healthier.
You believe her, mostly. Even though you still jump at sudden noises. Even though crowds make your chest feel tight. Even though you sometimes find yourself scanning unfamiliar faces for someone who isn’t there.
The clock reads 12:03 AM when you finally collapse onto the couch, a mug of tea cooling in your hands.
You’ve only just started to relax when the knock comes.
At first, you think you imagined it.
You weren’t expecting anyone this late.
Then it comes again. Louder this time.
You freeze.
Another knock.
“Y/N.”
Your heart drops into your stomach.
It’s him.
No. No, this isn’t possible. He doesn’t even know where you live.
You moved after the breakup. You didn’t tell anyone except Ji-hye.
So how the fuck does he know?
Your chest tightens, your breaths coming in shallow gasps as you stare at the door.
Another knock.
“Y/N, I know you’re in there.”
His voice is slurred, thick with alcohol or something stronger.
“I just want to talk. Please.”
Your fingers dig into the couch cushion, your nails scraping against the fabric.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he says, the words cracking in his throat. “I shouldn’t have said those things. You know I didn’t mean them.”
The lump in your throat grows heavier, your stomach twisting violently.
“Don’t ignore me.” His tone shifts, harder now. “I can see the lights are on.”
Your pulse roars in your ears. You grab your phone from the coffee table, your hands trembling as you scroll to Ji-hye’s name.
The knocking stops, but his voice cuts through the silence like a blade.
“Y/N.”
Your fingers freeze.
“Just open the door, okay? I’m not going anywhere.”
The weight of his words settles over you like a lead blanket.
“I need to see you.”
No.
“You’re not being fair, you know that? After everything we’ve been through…”
You press the phone to your chest, your other hand gripping the armrest so tightly your knuckles ache.
“Do you really want me to cause a scene?” His voice is softer now, coaxing, but the threat is clear beneath it. “Your neighbors don’t need to hear this, do they?”
The knot in your chest tightens, fear and anger twisting together into something sharp and unbearable.
“Come on,” he says again, his voice breaking slightly. “Please. I just… I just need to talk to you.”
The silence stretches, your own breathing ragged in the quiet.
Then, a softer knock.
“I’ll leave if you just talk to me,” he says. “I swear.”
You close your eyes, your stomach churning violently.
You don’t want to open the door.
You don’t want to see him.
But you know Su-bong.
You know how loud he can get when he doesn’t get his way.
And it’s late. Your neighbors are probably asleep.
You take a shaky breath, your body trembling as you rise to your feet.
The floor feels unsteady beneath you as you make your way to the door, every step heavier than the last.
Your fingers tremble as you unlock the deadbolt, the sound unnaturally loud in the stillness.
You open the door just a crack, your body blocking the gap.
And there he is.
His hair is a mess, his shirt wrinkled and half-untucked. His eyes are bloodshot, his pupils blown wide. The faint smell of alcohol wafts off him, mixing with the cloying scent of his cheap cologne.
But it’s his expression that makes your stomach drop.
The desperation in his eyes.
The anger lurking just beneath it.
“Y/N.”
Your name falls from his lips like a prayer, soft and broken.
You grip the doorframe, your nails digging into the wood. “What do you want, Su-bong?”
“I want to talk.” He shifts his weight, his hands twitching at his sides. “That’s all. Just… just talk to me.”
The second you crack the door an inch more, you regret it.
It’s instinctive, the way you step back as he pushes forward, brushing past you into the apartment like it’s his. Like there aren’t layers of pain, distance, and boundaries between you now.
“Su-bong, wait—”
“I’m not waiting,” he says, his voice low, a slur of alcohol softening the edges. “Not after you’ve been ignoring me for a week.”
He’s already halfway to the couch. The door is still open, the cold night air seeping in as you stand frozen, your fingers gripping the edge of the doorframe like it might ground you.
He turns back to glance at you, his expression unreadable in the dim light of your apartment. “You’re going to leave it open?”
You blink, your heart hammering in your chest. Slowly, reluctantly, you close the door.
The sound of the lock clicking into place feels like a nail in your coffin.
When you turn back, he’s sitting on your couch, slouched like he’s settling in for a long stay. His elbows rest on his knees, his hands clasped together loosely, but there’s nothing casual about the way his gaze locks onto you.
“So this is where you’ve been hiding.” His voice carries a hint of something sharp, but his eyes stay soft, almost sad. “I didn’t even know where to find you, Y/N. Do you have any idea what that felt like?”
You stay near the door, keeping as much distance as you can, your pulse roaring in your ears. “How did you even—”
“How did I find you?” He cuts you off, leaning back into the couch like he owns it, like it’s still the one you used to share. “I have my ways.”
Your stomach churns. The vagueness in his tone makes your skin crawl. “What do you want, Su-bong?”
He lets out a soft, bitter laugh, running a hand through his hair. “What do I want? I want to know why you blocked me.”
His words hit like a slap, the audacity of them stealing the breath from your lungs. “You’re kidding, right?”
“Do I look like I’m kidding?” His gaze sharpens, the softness in his eyes hardening. “You didn’t even let me explain, Y/N. You just—what? Cut me out? Pretend I don’t exist?”
“I had to,” you say, your voice trembling. “You wouldn’t leave me alone.”
“Because I needed you!” The words burst out of him, loud and raw, echoing in the quiet apartment. “I didn’t know where else to go! I didn’t know what else to do!”
Your throat tightens, your chest heaving as you fight to keep your composure. “That’s not my problem anymore, Su-bong.”
He flinches, just slightly, but the hurt in his eyes is quickly replaced by something sharper. “You really think you can just shut me out like that? Like I don’t matter?”
“I never said you don’t matter,” you whisper. “I just… I couldn’t do it anymore.”
“Couldn’t do what?” he demands, standing suddenly. The movement makes you instinctively take a step back, your fingers brushing against the wall behind you.
“This.” You gesture between the two of you, your voice cracking. “You calling me nonstop. Showing up here. Saying things you can’t take back. I couldn’t—” Your voice falters, breaking on the words. “I couldn’t keep letting you drag me down with you.”
The silence that follows is suffocating.
His jaw tightens, his hands curling into fists at his sides. “Drag you down?” he repeats, his tone quiet but venomous.
You press yourself harder against the wall, your palms flat against the cool surface. “You know what I mean.”
He takes a slow step toward you, and your stomach twists violently. “No,” he says, his voice dropping lower. “I don’t think I do.”
“Su-bong, please,” you say, your voice barely above a whisper. “Just leave.”
He stops, just a few feet away from you now. “You really don’t get it, do you?”
Your breath hitches, your chest tightening painfully. “Get what?”
He tilts his head, studying you like he’s trying to figure out a puzzle. “You’re scared,” he says finally, his tone softening. “You’re scared because you don’t know what you’re doing without me.”
The words land like a punch to the gut. “That’s not true,” you say, your voice trembling.
“Yes, it is.” He steps closer, his presence overwhelming, suffocating. “You’ve always been scared of being alone, Y/N. That’s why you stayed with me for so long, even when you knew you shouldn’t.”
Your nails dig into the wall behind you, the sharp pain grounding you. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I know exactly what I’m talking about.” His voice softens, but it only makes the words hit harder. “You blocked me because you couldn’t handle it. Not because you’re over me. Not because you’re moving on. But because you’re scared of facing me.”
Your vision blurs with tears, your chest heaving. “That’s not true.”
“It’s not?” His voice drops to a whisper, his eyes searching yours. “If it’s not true, why’d you let me in?”
The question cuts deeper than you want to admit.
“I don’t know,” you say, your voice breaking. “I don’t know why I let you in.”
His lips curl into something that’s not quite a smile, something that makes your stomach twist. “I do,” he says softly.
“What do you mean?”
He steps closer, his hand reaching out to brush against your arm. You flinch, but he doesn’t pull back.
“You let me in,” he murmurs, his voice low and steady, “because you still love me.”
The words hang in the air, heavy and suffocating.
“No,” you whisper, shaking your head. “That’s not—”
“You do,” he says, his tone almost gentle. “And that’s okay. I’m not mad about it. I’m not mad at you.”
His hand lingers on your arm, and you feel like you’re drowning, like the walls are closing in on you.
“Su-bong, please,” you whisper, tears streaming down your face now. “I can’t do this.”
“You don’t have to do anything,” he says, his voice soft and coaxing. “Just… let me stay. Just for a little while.”
You shake your head, your breath hitching. “I don’t want you here.”
“Yes, you do,” he says quietly, his hand moving to cup your cheek. “You don’t have to say it, but I know you do.”
The weight of his hand on your face is unbearable.
And in that moment, you realize—
You’re trapped.
His hand lingers on your cheek, warm and steady, but the weight of it feels crushing. Your breath catches in your throat, your vision blurring as his thumb brushes gently over your skin. It’s too much — the closeness, the intimacy he’s trying to pull you back into.
“Stop,” you whisper, your voice trembling.
He doesn’t.
“You don’t have to fight this,” Su-bong says softly, his voice slurring at the edges. “I’m not your enemy, Y/N.”
The words twist in your chest, sharp and suffocating. You push his hand away, your fingers trembling as you take a step back.
“You need to leave.” Your voice is quiet, but there’s an edge of panic creeping into it.
He doesn’t move. Instead, he watches you, his gaze heavy and unreadable. “Why are you doing this?” he asks, his voice low and raw. “Why are you pushing me away when you know—”
“Know what?” you snap, cutting him off. “What the fuck do I know, Su-bong? Because right now, I don’t know anything.”
His jaw tightens, his hands curling into fists at his sides.
“I don’t know why you’re here,” you continue, your voice rising, breaking under the weight of your emotions. “I don’t know why you can’t just leave me alone. And I don’t know what the fuck happened that night.”
The room goes still.
For a moment, all you can hear is your own ragged breathing.
“What are you talking about?” he asks, his voice carefully neutral.
Your chest tightens, your stomach twisting violently. “Don’t do that,” you say, your voice cracking. “Don’t act like you don’t know.”
He shakes his head, a humorless laugh escaping his lips. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Y/N.”
“Stop lying!” The words burst out of you, loud and jagged, echoing in the suffocating silence. Tears spill down your cheeks, hot and relentless, as you take a shaky step forward. “Stop fucking lying to me, Su-bong!”
“I’m not—”
“Yes, you are!” Your voice breaks, the weight of your anger and fear crashing over you all at once. “You’ve been lying this whole fucking time, haven’t you? About everything.”
His gaze flickers, something dark and frantic flashing in his eyes. “I don’t know what you’re—”
“Tell me what happened that night,” you demand, your voice trembling but unrelenting. “Tell me what you did.”
He flinches, just slightly, but it’s enough.
Your heart pounds in your chest, your breath coming in shallow, uneven gasps. “I woke up in your bed, Su-bong. I had bruises on my thighs. My underwear was backward.” Your voice falters, cracking under the weight of the words. “And I don’t remember anything.”
His face goes pale, his eyes widening ever so slightly before he quickly looks away.
“Say something,” you whisper, your voice breaking. “Fucking say something.”
He drags a hand through his hair, his movements jerky and unsteady. “I didn’t—” He stops, his jaw clenching so tightly you think it might shatter. “I didn’t mean for it to—”
Your stomach drops. “For it to what?”
His gaze snaps back to you, wild and panicked. “I wasn’t thinking, okay?” His voice rises, cracking at the edges. “You were just—”
He stops himself again, his words hanging in the air like a noose tightening around your throat.
“I was just what?” you demand, your voice trembling. “Say it, Su-bong. Finish your fucking sentence.”
He doesn’t.
He looks at you, his chest heaving, his lips parted as if he’s searching for the right words. But none come.
And that’s worse than anything he could have said.
The silence stretches between you, heavy and suffocating. Your mind spins, piecing together fragments of the truth you’ve been trying to avoid.
“Did you…” The words catch in your throat, your stomach churning violently. “Did you touch me?”
“No,” he says quickly, too quickly.
You flinch, the sharpness of his denial cutting through you like a blade. “Then why can’t you just tell me what happened?”
His hands shake at his sides, his knuckles white as he clenches them into fists. “Because it doesn’t fucking matter, Y/N!”
The words hit like a slap, stealing the breath from your lungs.
“It doesn’t matter?” you repeat, your voice barely above a whisper.
He exhales sharply, his gaze dropping to the floor. “It’s not what you think, okay? I didn’t—” He stops himself again, his voice breaking. “I didn’t mean for it to go that far.”
The room tilts, the weight of his words crashing down on you like a tidal wave.
“That far?” you whisper, your chest tightening painfully. “What the fuck does that mean, Su-bong?”
He doesn’t answer.
The silence is deafening, your pulse roaring in your ears as you stare at him, waiting, hoping for something—anything—that makes sense.
But all you get is the look on his face.
The guilt.
The shame.
The fear.
And you know.
You know.
Your legs give out, and you sink to the floor, your back pressing against the wall as your breath comes in short, shallow gasps.
“Y/N,” he says, his voice soft now, pleading. He takes a step toward you, but you hold up a hand, stopping him in his tracks.
“Don’t,” you whisper, your voice shaking. “Don’t come near me.”
“Please,” he says, his tone desperate. “Just let me explain—”
“There’s nothing to explain,” you say, your voice cracking. “You did it, didn’t you?”
His silence is all the confirmation you need.
You press your hands to your face, your tears spilling over, hot and relentless.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he says, his voice breaking. “I swear, I didn’t—”
“Get out.”
The words are quiet but firm, cutting through the suffocating tension like a knife.
“Y/N, please—”
“Just fucking go!” you scream, your voice raw and jagged, echoing through the apartment.
He doesn’t.
“Get the fuck out!” you scream again, your voice raw and jagged, slicing through the suffocating tension.
But Su-bong doesn’t move.
Instead, he stares at you, his chest heaving, his face twisting into something you can’t quite recognize. Something darker. “I’m not leaving,” he says, his voice low, dangerous.
Your stomach twists violently. “You need to leave, Su-bong. Now.”
“Why?” he snaps, his voice rising. “So you can sit here and hate me? So you can keep twisting this into something it’s not?”
“Something it’s not?” Your voice cracks, your hands balling into fists at your sides. “You just admitted it! You just fucking said—”
“I said I didn’t mean for it to go that far!” he shouts, cutting you off. His face is flushed now, his eyes wild, the faint slur in his voice sharper. “That’s not the same thing!”
“It’s exactly the same thing!” you scream back, the words ripping out of you like a knife. “You knew I was drunk! You knew I couldn’t—”
“You didn’t say no,” he interrupts, his voice low and venomous.
The room falls silent.
Your breath catches in your throat, the weight of his words hitting you like a punch to the gut.
And then, quietly, trembling—
“That never stopped you before.”
The silence that follows is deafening.
Su-bong’s face twists, something dark and ugly flashing across it. His jaw clenches, his fists tightening at his sides. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
“You know exactly what it means,” you say, your voice shaking but firm. “You’ve always pushed, always taken. And I—” Your voice falters, cracking under the weight of your emotions. “I let you, because I loved you. Because I thought you loved me.”
“I do love you!” he shouts, his voice breaking. He takes a step closer, his movements unsteady, uncoordinated. “I’ve always fucking loved you!”
“Love?” you laugh bitterly, the sound harsh and cutting. “This isn’t love, Su-bong. This is control. This is you trying to fucking own me.”
“I don’t want to own you!” he yells, his voice cracking. “I just—” He stops, dragging a hand through his hair, his movements erratic. “I just want you to stay. I just want us to be okay again.”
“There is no ‘us,’” you say, your voice trembling but resolute. “Not anymore.”
The words hit him like a physical blow. He staggers back slightly, his eyes wide, his chest heaving. “You don’t mean that.”
“I do,” you whisper, your voice breaking.
And that’s when it happens.
He lunges forward, grabbing your wrist—not hard enough to hurt, but enough to make you flinch. “Don’t do this,” he says, his voice desperate, pleading. “Please, Y/N. Don’t fucking do this.”
“Let me go.” Your voice is sharp, but your heart is racing, your pulse pounding in your ears.
“Not until you listen to me!” he shouts, his grip tightening slightly.
“Let me go!” you scream, jerking your arm back. The force of it sends you both stumbling, and for a moment, everything is chaos.
Your hand connects with his chest—an instinctive push to get him away from you. He stumbles again, his back hitting the edge of the couch.
And then he snaps.
“Fuck!” he yells, slamming his fist into the wall beside him. The sound is loud, jarring, the plaster cracking under the force. “Why the fuck do you always have to make everything so goddamn hard?”
Tears stream down your face, hot and relentless, as you back away from him. “Get out,” you whisper, your voice trembling. “Get the fuck out of my apartment, Su-bong.”
“I’m not leaving,” he says, his voice low, dangerous. “Not until you stop lying to yourself. Not until you admit you still love me.”
You laugh. Bitter. Sharp. The sound scrapes its way out of your throat, raw and venomous.
“Love you?” you say, the words trembling on the edge of rage. “I fucking hate you.”
The air in the room shifts.
His expression changes — a flicker of something unrecognizable crossing his face before it hardens into something darker. He steps toward you, his chest heaving, his fists still clenching at his sides.
“What did you just say?” he asks, his voice dangerously quiet.
“You heard me,” you snap, your voice rising, shaking. “I hate you. I hate everything about you. I hate what you’ve done to me, what you’ve made me. I fucking hate you, Su-bong.”
For a second, you think he’s going to hit you.
But he doesn’t.
Instead, he reaches for the mug sitting on the table beside him.
“You hate me?” he says, his voice shaking with barely-contained rage. “After everything I’ve done for you? After everything I’ve put up with?”
The mug is in his hand now, his knuckles white as he grips it.
“You could barely last a week without me,” he spits, his voice rising. “You think you’re so fucking strong now? You’re nothing without me, Y/N. Nothing.”
And then he throws it.
It happens so fast, you barely have time to react.
The mug shatters against the wall behind you, fragments raining down around your feet. You flinch, your heart slamming against your ribs, your breath coming in short, sharp gasps.
“Are you fucking insane?” you scream, your voice cracking.
“You’re the one who made me like this!” he yells, his voice raw, ragged. He takes a step toward you, and you instinctively step back, your shoulders hitting the wall behind you.
“Get out,” you say, your voice trembling. “Get the fuck out of my apartment, Su-bong.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he says, his voice low and dangerous.
“Yes, you are!” you scream, your voice breaking. “You don’t get to do this to me anymore! You don’t get to keep fucking breaking me and acting like it’s my fault!”
“I never broke you!” he yells, his voice rising to a roar. “You were already broken, Y/N! You’ve been broken since the day I met you!”
The words hit like a slap, stealing the breath from your lungs.
“Fuck you,” you whisper, tears streaming down your face.
“Go ahead,” he snaps, his voice venomous. “Blame me for everything. That’s all you’ve ever been good at.”
“Blame you?” you shout, your chest heaving with rage. “You ruined my life, Su-bong! You fucking destroyed me, and you don’t even care!”
“I cared more than anyone else ever did!” he shouts back, his voice cracking. “No one else gave a shit about you, Y/N! No one else stayed!”
“I wish you hadn’t!” you scream, your voice breaking. “I wish I’d never met you!”
The room goes silent, the weight of your words hanging in the air like a guillotine.
He stares at you, his chest heaving, his hands shaking at his sides.
“Say it again,” he says, his voice dangerously quiet.
“I wish I never fucking met you,” you whisper, your voice trembling.
The air in the room shifts, heavy and suffocating.
His chest heaves with every labored breath, his fists trembling at his sides. And then he moves.
It’s a blur—the way he closes the distance between you, the way his hand shoots out and tangles in your hair. Pain flares at your scalp, sharp and instant, as he yanks you closer with a force that steals the breath from your lungs.
“Su-bong!” you cry, your hands flying up to claw at his wrist. “You’re hurting me!”
“No,” he snarls, his face inches from yours, his voice cracking with rage and desperation. “No, you’re hurting me, Y/N! You’re hurting me!”
His words are guttural, raw, as though they’ve been ripped from the deepest, ugliest part of him. His grip tightens, pulling harder, and you stumble, your knees buckling as you try to twist away.
“Let me go!” you scream, panic lacing every word. Your nails dig into his arm, leaving crescent-shaped marks against his skin, but it only seems to fuel him further.
“You don’t get to do this to me!” he yells, dragging you closer until you can feel the heat of his breath on your face, the wildness in his eyes swallowing you whole. “You don’t get to walk away like none of it mattered!”
“I didn’t—” Your voice cracks, tears spilling over, hot and relentless. “I didn’t do anything to you!”
“Liar,” he spits, his grip jerking you violently. “You’ve done everything, Y/N. You’ve ruined me, and you don’t even fucking care.”
Your heart pounds, a frantic, desperate rhythm that drowns out everything else. “Please,” you choke out, your voice trembling. “Please stop.”
But there’s no stopping him.
You twist sharply, pulling against his hold with every ounce of strength you have. He lets out a snarl of frustration as you manage to free yourself, stumbling back against the wall. For a moment, you think it’s over, that maybe he’s come to his senses.
But then his gaze drops to the lamp on the side table.
“Don’t,” you whisper, your voice trembling.
He doesn’t hesitate.
The lamp is in his hand before you can react, his fingers curling around its base like it’s an extension of his rage.
“You want me to stop?” he spits, his voice rising. “Fine. I’ll fucking stop.”
And then he throws it.
The lamp sails through the air, and for a split second, time seems to slow. You see it coming, but there’s no time to move. It smashes into your shoulder with a sickening thud, the force of it sending you sprawling to the floor.
Pain blooms instantly, sharp and white-hot, radiating from your shoulder down to your fingertips. You cry out, clutching the spot where it hit, your breaths coming in short, ragged gasps.
“Does it hurt?” he taunts, his voice dripping with venom. “Good. Maybe now you’ll fucking listen to me.”
Your vision blurs with tears, the pain and fear twisting together into something unbearable. “What the fuck is wrong with you?!” you scream, your voice breaking.
“What’s wrong with me?” he snaps, his voice cracking. “You, Y/N. You’re what’s wrong with me. You made me like this!”
“You’re insane,” you whisper, your voice trembling.
His laughter is low and bitter, a sound that sends chills down your spine. “You drove me to this. You, with your lies, your fucking games—”
“I didn’t play any games!” you shout, your chest heaving. “I just wanted to get away from you!”
“You don’t get to run!” he roars, his face twisting into something unrecognizable. “Not after everything I’ve done for you! Not after—”
He stops abruptly, his gaze flickering to you, then to your throat.
And before you can move, before you can scream, he’s on you.
His hands wrap around your neck, his grip cold and unrelenting.
At first, it doesn’t feel real—the pressure, the way your breath catches in your throat, the way his face looms above you, wild and furious. But then the reality slams into you all at once, and the panic sets in.
You claw at his hands, your nails scraping against his skin as you gasp for air. The world narrows to the sound of your strangled breaths, the pounding of your pulse in your ears, the fire spreading through your lungs as you fight to inhale.
“Why do you always make me do this?” he growls, his voice shaking with anger. “Why do you always push me, Y/N? Why?”
Your vision blurs, black spots creeping in at the edges.
He’s saying something else, his voice a low, guttural snarl, but you can’t make out the words. All you can focus on is the pressure, the way it feels like your throat is collapsing under his grip.
And then—
A loud, sharp knock cuts through the haze.
“Police! Open the door!”
The sound barely registers at first, muffled and distant, like it’s coming from another world.
But it’s enough.
The knocking grows louder, more insistent. Voices shout from the other side, commanding, urgent.
“Police! We’re coming in!”
Su-bong’s grip falters, just slightly, as the realization dawns on him.
His gaze snaps to the door, then back to you.
“You called the fucking cops?” he snarls, his grip tightening again, his face contorting with rage. “You think they can save you? You think anyone can fucking save you from me?”
The sound of the door bursting open cuts him off.
In an instant, the room is flooded with voices—sharp, commanding, barking orders that you can’t quite process.
“Get off her!”
“Hands up!”
Su-bong freezes, his hands still around your throat, his body trembling with barely-contained fury.
“Let her go now!”
For a moment, he doesn’t move. The tension in the room is suffocating, the weight of his anger pressing down on you like a vice.
And then, finally, he lets go.
You collapse to the floor, gasping for air, your body trembling violently as you clutch your throat.
The officers swarm him, grabbing his arms and pulling him away from you. He struggles against their hold, shouting obscenities, his voice wild and broken.
“She fucking lied!” he screams, his voice cracking. “She lied about everything!”
You don’t respond. You can’t.
All you can do is lie there, your chest heaving, your vision blurred with tears, as the reality of what just happened crashes over you.
The officers’ voices blur together, a cacophony of sound that you can’t quite make out. One of them kneels beside you, their hand on your shoulder, their voice soft and steady.
“Miss, are you okay?”
You don’t answer.
Your gaze drifts to Su-bong as they drag him toward the door, his screams echoing in the apartment.
And for the first time in years, you feel something you haven’t felt in so long—
Relief.
You know what’s good for you.
You’ve done what you could for him.
And he was finally gone.
