A-Z Fluff Alphabet: Mohawk Mark Grayson

Adoration: What does he can’t help but gush about you? 

Your brain. Your intellectual curiosity and passion for discussing various concepts, regardless of which field they originate; be it writing an essay about a random video game’s exploration of identity and the Ship of Theseus, drawing out an outline for the evolution of meme culture across generations, or borderline obsessive studying of his own alien physiology. The way your eyes light up and how confident you sound get him excited.

Baby: Does he want a family? 

No. You are his family, the only one he will ever need. 

Comfort: How does he help you when you’re down or stressed?

He tries to joke, hoping it would help you laugh and release some of the anxiety frying your nerves. But if that doesn’t work, he will seat you on the nearest counter and make you look at him. He’ll ask what’s wrong and when you don’t tell him he will kiss you until you feel better.

Dates: What are his ideal dates?

He likes taking you to concerts, can be anything as long as both of you enjoy it, from rock bands to Opera. Alternatively, he would surprise you with tickets to a museum involving your most recent hyperfixation. You two would hold hands and talk while you pass each display. He also flies you to different parts of the world at a moment's notice; "Oh, you suddenly want to collect volcanic rocks? I got you, babe."

Everything: You are his __________.

You are his inspiration, his muse. Your passions are his passions, not for some shallow reason like getting you to like him (he has his good looks and nice ass for that), but because your sincere drive to know more, to explore the world beyond what it is, encourages him to seek for more, too. 

Fight: How often do you argue? How does he handle the fight itself and its aftermath?

“Me and my girl don’t argue, she tells me to shut up and I do” kind of guy. But in all seriousness, he doesn’t like upsetting you, so unless it’s something serious, like your health, then he just goes along with what you want. 

Gifts: Does he spoil you?

I discussed this before in my husband headcanons for him, but he doesn’t actively seek out to buy you presents as often as one would think. It’s just that, when he sees something in a store window or on his phone that reminds him of you, without thinking, he buys it. 

Honesty: Does he keep a lot of secrets from you? Are they white lies or hide world-shattering truths?

He tends to hide his negative feelings, covering them up because he would rather push down all the bad than bother you with it. Otherwise, he’s an open book. You already know the password to all his accounts and he registered your fingerprint on his phone.

Injury: What’s his reaction when he finds you physically hurt?

Tries to alleviate the gravity of the situation with jokes as a way to keep you calm. Actually, if we’re being honest, the bad jokes are to keep his composure while he assesses your injuries and starts planning a murder. 

Jealousy: Is he a green-eyed monster?

He can be prone to jealous fits, but they’re rarely that deep and never last long enough to warrant violent responses. That being said, the one thing that can really grate him is when someone else manages to have you ramble about your most recent hyperfixation–only he gets the privilege of listening to your spiel.

Kiss: Describe the way he kisses you.

Lifts you up on kitchen counters, stands between your knees and has his hands over your thighs. Kisses you playfully.

Longing: Who fell first? How did you two get together?

He is a natural flirt, so you didn’t take him seriously at first. “That’s just how he is with everyone,” you used to say. Mark didn’t realize it himself, but he stopped hitting on others and unconsciously focused on you every time you were near. When he finally had that "oh shit" moment, he immediately tried to convince you that he wanted you.

Marriage: Does he want to be your husband?

Originally, no. He used to believe that marriages were pointless in that they were “merely labels” and if two individuals truly love each other then a piece of paper was meaningless. You then countered that if it was meaningless then it shouldn’t matter if he agreed to marry you. To this day, it was still his favorite loss.

Nightmare: What is his greatest fear?

That one day you would lose your wide-eyed curiosity.

On Cloud Nine: Is it obvious to tell when he is happy?

He’s already a pretty chill guy, but his underlings know he’s in a really good mood when he isn’t mocking everyone he comes across, and they all know it’s because of you.

PDA: Yes or no? If yes, to what degree?

Yes. He isn’t opposed to giving you a peck or having his arm around your shoulders while you’re out on a date, but he’s not going to make out with you in a park or a family restaurant. 

Quaint: What is his favourite non-modern thing?

Ink and paper books.

Rhythm: What’s his favorite song or genre of music?

Doesn’t have one. His rule is that if he hears a beat that he likes then he likes it. He’s an open-minded guy, so you would be hard-pressed to find him disliking anything. He’s no poser. 

Spa: What helps him relax?

Lying with you, on a bed or a couch or a picnic blanket, while he reads, shutting you up with kisses when you laugh at the stupid lines.

Tea: What do you two often converse about? 

Everything under the sun. The beauty of your relationship is that you two don’t feel restricted about the topics of your conversation, you’re not afraid of sharing your thoughts about the most niche topic and he knows you can keep up with his interests. Each of you has something to offer and nothing is off the table. 

Understanding: How well does he know you?

Enough to know what kinds of books you would definitely fall into obsession with. 

Value: How important is the relationship to him?

So much so that if he ever lost you, he would try to erase every trace of you, because if he didn’t how else was he supposed to breathe? He would turn to violence and parties and meaningless one night stands to forget about you, even if just for a moment. He wouldn’t be able to stand anyone who looks like you, so every single one of his flings would be the opposite of what you looked like. 

Wild Card: Random fluff headcanon

He’s a philosophy nerd. When he was younger he was interested in ethics, but right now, he’s really into existentialism and absurdism. He also dabbles in poetry. 

XOXO: How affectionate is he?

Super affectionate. He is never afraid to tell you and show you how much he adores you. 

Yearning: How does he cope when you two are apart?

Mark always preferred the epicureans, but you’re more of a stoic, and stoics believe that patience is a virtue, so he bites his tongue when you tell him that no, he can’t come with you to girls’ night. He distracts himself by reading so that he can complain to you about the garbage he had to read while you were away.

Zebra: If he wanted a pet, what would he get?

He wouldn’t call them pets, more like decoration, but he would like a whole bloom of Turritopsis dohrnii, a species of jellyfish. One of his favorite dates with you was scuba diving somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea, and that was where you first saw one in person. “It’s functionally immortal,” you said when you two resurfaced. He hopes that, like this jellyfish, your time together will be everlasting.

Now for the long part lol

I don't talk about this a lot, but for many years, I have feared (rejected) the idea of a Patreon. Mostly because, I would see what artists were doing, fulfilling orders and burning themselves out on a monthly basis. I never saw what I was doing as worth that. I never believed I would be able to keep promises, and I don't like making promises I can't keep.

But over the years, my tune has been changing. I have realized I can simply ask for support, and in doing so, that support can help me do what I want to do, as opposed to what I think I need to be doing, and in turn, be able to produce more. I also have been changing my tune because after so long, I have finally realized: I cannot make what I want to make, alone.

May is my birthday month, and what I would really like for my birthday more than anything, is a little more financial security to help my pursue the things I would love to do with my life and my time. I chose Ko-fi because I trust it more than I do Patreon, and it gives me far more freedom and flexibility with how I can approach my customers.

What is the first thing I would like to share with my members? Information on what I want to do most right now: Starting on not one, but TWO children's books -- one centered on a very special borzoi named Jack and his story, and one based on my own two dogs, Strudel and Zill. This support will also help fund any other smaller projects I would like to work on, including paintings, prints, editing, learning Blender, and more.

Crown of Antlers au

- Because of Lottie's schizophrenia, it left her mind vulnerable to possession. The Wilderness took advantage of her weak state, twisting her hallucinations in order to make her it's puppet. It's prophet.

- The girls put the cabin fire out by smothering it using the snow, so only the front ends up getting destroyed. They rebuild it using the materials they would have used for their shelters.

- It looks like a nest.

- When Shauna tries to stop the rest of them from leaving, Lottie tells her to let them go, as "they'll be back."

- It turns out that yellowjacket Shauna saw as everyone got ready to leave was more significant than she realized.

- While making the hike back to civilization, the group is attacked by a swarm of yellowjackets. Kody dies, while the rest escape back to the cabin covered in injuries.

- It didn't want them to leave.

- Travis sees The Wilderness in Lottie, and becomes afraid. He tries to trick her into falling into the pit of spikes, but we all know how that goes.

- The snow starts to fall.

- As winter begins, Lottie starts having more dreams of The Antler Queen. More signs. A crack in the mirror forming antlers.

- The emergency call box is still worked on, but it won't be finished in time.

- Shauna realizes that it's easier to rule when times are prosperous. But in cold and bitter winter, she is out of her depth. Slowly she starts to retreat from her leader role, seeking Lottie for help.

- Then the animals die.

- Instead of the animals dying by Akilah's hands, The Wilderness kills them.

- Lottie and Shauna suggest doing the hunt again, but Natalie stops them. She says they can preserve the animals in the snow.

- This works, for a bit. Until suddenly the animals rot.

- They soon realize that it wants them to hunt. It wants them to feed.

- Lottie has that last dream of The Antler Queen.

- In the morning, they draw the cards. Tai and Van rig them to choose Hannah, but instead of Shauna messing up the order, it's Melissa.

- She had gotten closer to Hannah while recovering.

- Mari is chosen.

- Shauna wears The Butcher acolyte outfit, while Melissa wears The Poacher acolyte outfit (the one Shauna originally wore).

- Inside the cave, Lottie finally realizes what it wants from her. She knew it all along.

- She still speaks to Mari.

- Shauna drains Mari's body so she is safe for consumption.

- While she does that, Gen cuts off a piece of her hair.

- Lottie dons the white robe and antler collar.

- When she walks out, everyone looks at her.

- Gen walks up, pining the lock of Mari's hair to her dress, before cutting off a lock of her own hair and pining it as well.

- Shauna takes the scissors from her and does the same.

- One by one the girls cut off a piece of their own hair and pin it to Lottie's robe, until the whole piece looks like ermine.

- The perfect robe for a queen.

- She puts on the baklava, as Natalie crowns her with antlers and Shauna pulls a veil over her, decorating with two earrings.

- The feast is the same as the pilot. Quiet, with only a nod from their shaman, their queen, to eat.

- Finally, she has taken up the mantle, and become It's Antler Queen.

I plan on turning this into a fanfic at some point.

I also might combine this with another au where Krystal lives, which I'll talk about later.

Hermit-A-Day May - Day 6: MumboJumbo

Day 6 is Mumbo, and one of the most complicated designs yet...

RMAU-Verse Mumbo is a Shiftwalker - a type of Shapeshifter that shifts form via, well, eating what they want to shift into. The frequency of how often they have to eat something from whatever form they're trying to keep depends on the Shiftwalker and the situation. Shiftwalkers are generally featureless except for two things - their distinguishing feature (the Mustache, in Mumbo's case) and their pelt. The pelt of a Shiftwalker is a magical thing, and part of what allows them to shift. With the first of each species of creature or other thing they eat (with intentions to shift), an identifying feature of that creature grows into/from their pelt, including the base of their pelt Examples for Mumbo's pelt include his base which is a tasmanian devil's chest fur (at the collar), chicken feathers, human flesh, carrot sprouts, a wolf tail, a fox tail, zombie flesh (not visible from this view), potato sprouts/eyes, enderman flesh, cow hide/tail, pig hide/tail, and Watcher feathers/Void/Eyes... (<- *pointing* Lore hints!!!) Their pelts are also a lot like Selkie pelts, in that they CAN be removed. However, unlike Selkies, in doing so, it simply affects how ACCURATE their shift is rather than making them unable to shift...

(also yes he does not have eyes, but no he isn't blind, he CAN see - don't ask me for sure how though, I don't know yet...)

But anyways!!! I've been trying to figure out my Trueform Mumbo design for as long as the Grian one (aka 3 years, sheesh...) so I'm really pleased that I finally got him done, even if it was literally tonight, lol! I actually ended up with some unexpected design elements that I'm actually super ford of - particularly the braided leg feathering, along with the tail and the... not-skirt-poncho-thingy lol. I was struggling with getting his feet right, when I came across an image on Pinterest (that I'll add below a cut) of a draft horse's legs with their feathering braided, and I went "Oh. Oh that's gorgeous and perfect!" And so I added it, and it finally made his feet look right!!! And that vibe led into the vibe for the waist-covering (as I've been calling it) being vaguely cowboy inspired... As for the tail... I hadn't originally planned on giving him a tail, but I saw a fantasy horse drawing while on Pinterest (also added below the cut) with that style tail, alongside several unicorn drawings with it, and, well, I was sold, XD. But all in all, I'm REALLY pleased with how he turned out!!! There's a lot of little details, and I think they all come together pretty well!!!

Oh, and one last fun fact! If Grian finds him sleeping in his trueform, he absolutely decides to have some fun and draw a face on Mumbo's blank face... ;D

Hello Emperor Kumkuat!

This is a continuation of the previous questions. I don't know if I'll write about it next month, but if I have enough questions, I will write more (And this is not a threat):

If you could change anything about the Prime series, what would it be? If it were up to me, I would give Breakdown the redemption he deserves, a flashback to the team when they arrive on Earth, and in the movie, Starscream fights against Unicron with the Autobots.

Who do you think is the most obscure character you'll put in Mercy?

I noticed that you try to write the villains in a way that the reader hates and fears them until they learn their tragic backstories (because if they were rotten to the core, you wouldn't feel sorry for them), do you plan on writing an antagonist that breaks with that tradition? For example, the opponent's motivation is understandable at first, but what he does is bad and he doesn't listen to nice words.

Is there a character who hasn't appeared yet that you're really looking forward to writing about?

Could you give me a little teaser at the continuation of the Monstrous Heart Storyline, or what month it's expected to be? Not because I'm impatient (maybe a little), I understand that besides updating old works, I bet you have a lot of work in your life, but I would like a little update on this. I look forward to your answer.

If I could change something in TFP, it would definitely be letting Starscream and Knockout be friends in the end (not destroying that development!). If I could change anything no matter the budget.... more Predacons! The real "Predacons Rising"!

I think Browning might end up being the most obscure character in the game! He's a tiiiiny little guy from Masterforce and I want him to cameo in all Mercy storylines but have a real role in one story.

There will be irredeemable villains in Monstrous Heart and this is the reason for the title. It plays with the question of when can you truly call someone a monster? This story has two major villains: Kremzeek, a body-possessing sun alien, and Altero, the self-named Vehicon mafia boss. Kremzeek is evil for fun while Altero originally has a reason for his mindset but he crosses the genocidal line. As a Vehicon, Altero is full of rage for being created to be cannon fodder and for the Autobots not caring at all about killing Vehicons like him, even making games and jokes out of it. Altero wants to mass murder Autobots with no care about Decepticons who get mixed into that.

I'm really looking forward to writing Kremzeek, a manipulative character, but I have to be patient and properly build up to that. I just like writing mindfuckery hahaha and I know the final fight will be very interesting in order to defeat Kremzeek!

Ok I have written halfway or more into Part 4 of Monstrous Heart, but then had to stop to manage other things. I am re-reading Monstrous Heart and taking notes right now to refresh myself before continuing the story. I deeply regret how long it has taken me to write this one, I am just overwhelmed managing the other aspects of the project (editing, organizing scenes, directing artists, drawing scenes myself, creating videos, and writing new content). All this around daily life (and you can see my main YouTube channel is less active too because I keep running out of time). Lately the new Part 1 videos have been my main priority. How about I try to release Monstrous Heart Part 4 this month? But I can't make any promises!

daily koss #29: if we only have one shot… better make it count, right?

Since I started on the 18th of February, today marks the one month anniversary of me drawing these wretched old men every day!!! I wanted to make something special for it, so I tried my hand at a comic (even though I am NOT good at comics—dear god, paneling is so unintuitive for me that I ended up wrangling this into a webtoon format just to avoid it).

Despite the increasing level of render and polish on my dailies over the past two weeks, this is the first time I’ve really, actually tried to flex my art muscles and apply my braincells to a piece 😂 Here’s to hoping my work paid off! I have now, officially, moved from low-effort shitposts to real-effort seriousposts 😔

(Also, if you’ve never read a webtoon before, hopefully the long-scroll format wasn’t too jarring! >_<)

A meta aspect I love about KOSS is that Transformers is a multi-timeline franchise: Knock Out and Starscream exist across multiple different continuities, sometimes alongside each other, sometimes not. But they only really ‘work’ in TFP, despite them both having other characters as constants (Breakdown, Megatron). If this were any other world, and they were any other versions of themselves, they might not even have been coworkers—just ships passing in the night.

And yet, the perfect storm of random events led to them being in one thing together, with a compelling dynamic at that (even an entire episode that puts it on blast!!!). Sometimes I think about how, according to the TFP artbook, Knock Out was originally conceived as something of a counterpart to Bumblebee—another fast, pretty car, except a villain this time—but the writers ended up fleshing out his relationship with Starscream the most. I wonder what the thought process behind that was—did the devs find their dynamic fun to play with as well?—and whether the two would get more moments together if Prime wasn’t cancelled…

But I digress! The fact I discovered TFP in the first place is the cherry on top of the serendipity-cake; I never imagined I’d ever get into Transformers, but one impulsive ‘hey, what if we watched the new Transformers movie’ from Lacuna at 3AM in the dead of January changed the trajectory of my life.

I’ve always been really bad at committing to projects for over a month at a time—I often find myself burnt out and restless after only a few days, even. So to still have so much drive and inspiration to create fanworks—for KOSS, of course, but an assortment of other pairings and properties too—is such a novel and exciting experience. My tune may change at a moment’s notice (I can be very fickle), but for now I’m eager to keep scribbling on 🥰I already have something planned for the next week of Daily KOSS hehehe~

DC x Fem!Neglected!Batsis! Reader x Marvel [Just some midnight thoughts]

Bruce and Tim realised something odd about Stark Industries. Ever since a few months ago the technology being produced there had improved by an unbelievable amount. It was futuristic, nothing that this world has seen before. And the weirdest part of it is the fact that Tony Stark had offered to partner up with Wayne Enterprises. THE Tony Stark, Iron Man, the most egotisical man they knew had willingly offered to partner up with them? After years of being petty with Bruce and the JL?

Tim had been made to prepare to become the new CEO soon, thus he recently started taking up more work at Wayne Enterprises when the agreement was made. Though instead of Tony being the one to talk about ideas it was an unknown woman communicating with him about the ideas, the product, the marketing, etc. And the merge of the two companies was an absolute success, the marketing especially drawing in young adults. (courtesy of Tim and the mysterious women who seems to be around the same age as him)

Who was the mysterious women though? Well both Bruce and Tim could only come to one solution. The least known character to Bruce, to Batman, which says a lot considering the fact that he had made a contingency plan for every Avenger, every hero, including his own teammates, including himself, yet this one character was completely unknown, zero plans if she were to go rogue. And that drove Bruce crazy. Her file was blank. Every vital information was marked with the word 'unknown'. It had been making Bruce paranoid for years since she had appeared next to the Avengers.

The reassurance from the Avengers never helped. It was as if something was gnawing at him. After all how could he trust them anyways? (careful Bruce your trust issues are showing)

One of the only things they knew about her is that she is the main hacker/coder for the Avengers, hence the reason why the Avengers digital security was admittedly better than the Justice League's and how much faster they got, what should be, classified information. (no matter how much Bruce wants to deny it)

And her codename, Special Agent Reaper. No she wasn't originally an Avenger, she was crowned the most skilled assassin of this era, working under S.H.I.E.L.D and one of the sole reasons why all of the HYDRA agents that have sneaked into S.H.I.E.L.D have been successfully taken out, her name would pass by in the wind every so often, they might be rumours or the truth but no one truly knows. Hell even Ra's Al Ghul, The Demon’s Head, had acknowledged her once. Even Talia had admitted that Damian's fighting technique was made to mirror The Reaper's, the only difference is he used katanas while the Reaper, fittingly, uses a scythe.

But one thing was for sure. If you saw the shadow of a hooded figure you better run, though at that point it might be too late.

As the saying goes, "Beware of the Grim Reaper. Wherever it goes death follows closely behind.”

“Ah! Brucie! Here you are!” Tony said, wine in hand as he approached Bruce at the gala. Well that was a first. He usually never played into the Brucie persona. Well nonetheless the show must go on.

“Tony!” Bruce threw himself at the other billionaire, acting as if he was drunk, ignoring the way Tony’s expression turned into a grimace for a split second.

As usual, they were both around other pretentious socialites who never seemed to run out of questions.

“Ah! Tony, I heard Stark Industries have been bringing in more money than ever.”

“Oh yes! It’s all because of this prodigy i had found. She actually was the reason why Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises had a collab. I might even give the company to her when I retire!" He let out a laugh that seems to emanate the word 'rich', a small smirk stayed on his lips as he heard the guests at the gala begin to whisper.

"Oh? Is that so? Then I would love to meet the person I have been working with this entire time." Tim Drake-Wayne said as he finally came out of the corner where he would usually stay in to observe rather than interact.

"Be my guest." A subtle challenge, as if Tony was daring him to go through with it as they locked eyes. A smirk on one face while a well practiced smile on the other.

Bruce let out a light hearted laugh as he tightened his grip around Tony, a subtle warning to stay away from his son, "Well then I wouldn't mind arranging a meeting! I'm sure you wouldn't mind the others joining." His tone had a slight change that even the most observant wouldn't realise.

Bruce could barely keep up the 'Brucie' act with Tony bragging about how Stark Enterprises profits have shot up with him finding a 'prodigy' and someone who will take over the company once he retires.

"Not at all. The more the merrier. I assume you wouldn't mind me inviting more people as well." Tony sipped his wine, he wasn't one to back out from a challenge, especially when he is so confident.

This certainly wasn't how the Justice League and the Avengers expected their next meeting to happen. A petty fight between the two men that singlehandedly funds their respective teams causing all of them to be in one room together.

"Well then, Stark. Where is this prodigy that you speak so highly of?" Bruce said as he sported his famous batglare.

✣ ridiculous as it might seem, riddle is being honest when he confesses this to you. that’s not to say he only values your intellect but rather he’s heavily interested in your mindset and approach to various situations. he always looks forward to the moment you two can sit in peace, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. he loves to ask you a variety of hypothetical questions and ponder what the answers mean, what they say about you as a person. he’d never admit it, but the residents of heartslabyul have seen him on more than one occasion brainstorming topics to discuss just because he loves to see your viewpoint on things. maybe it’s odd to some, but the sheer amount that he invests into your opinions is an act of love itself.

༄ ruggie bucchi: stomach

✣ unconventional to the average person for sure. when it comes to ruggie, he values keeping you well-fed and satisfied since it was a luxury going to bed full when he was a child. he also has a penchant for plopping his head down on your tummy for a quick mid-day nap before rushing out to run more errands. his ears twitch and tickle your skin which makes you unable to hold back a few giggles in response, making him smile without realizing it. something unusual he also likes to do is grab a sharpie when the two of you are in bed and draw all sorts of nonsense on your stomach as if it’s his own personal canvas. you have pictures of every “ruggie original work” and you both get a kick out of the half-coherent drawing he does when he’s on the verge of passing out.

༄ azul ashengrotto: voice

✣ maybe a little too on the nose, but he doesn’t plan on stealing something that he benefits from being in your possession. you’re often seen in azul’s office, walking around the lounge by his side, blabbing to him at lunch, to the point where some people assume you’re some sort of shady accomplice like tweels. in reality, azul just always needs to hear you talk. he essentially uses you like youtube video background noise. if you sing for him, even better. it doesn’t matter exactly what you’re talking about just as long as he can hear your voice. he might seem distracted and disinterested, but the moment you trail off and grow quiet he’ll look up at you and ask you to continue. his favorite time of day is when you softly talk him to sleep, because hearing you means his dreams are filled with thoughts and fantasies of you as well.

༄ jade leech: hands

✣ considering this is someone who has his hands covered more often than not, it seems a bit ironic that he’s always found holding and toying with yours. technically jade enjoys every part of your body that’s different to his merform, but he particularly enjoys those cute non-webbed fingers of yours. you’ll be in casual conversation when he picks up your hand and starts poking and bending to his desire. alongside that, he likes putting your fingers in his mouth and pretending like he’s going to chomp them off, amused by the way you stiffen in concern. jade is quite shameless as well, which you unfortunately realize when he asks you out loud to wrap your pretty hands around his neck and squeeze as hard as you can. for scientific purposes, of course. 

༄ floyd leech: legs 

✣ the biggest freak on this side of twisted wonderland, floyd outright says he likes your legs the most because he loves to watch you run away from him while he chases you down. he was a fan of this long before the two of you were dating so you just shudder at the memory while he laughs at how adorable you are. legs are the most novel thing humans have to the merfolk so it’s pretty obvious that’s the subconscious reason behind his fascination. floyd’s favorite game is taking you to a lake or something similar and watching you kick your legs in the water while he lurks beneath the surface. it’s a 50/50 chance between him nuzzling them like a dog or tugging you in with him. he also likes to bite the soft skin of your thighs (he names the bite marks he gives you), or he’ll push your legs into odd positions so he can see how they move. he’ll ignore your complaints that he has legs too and he can look at it himself, because it’s so much more fun to see your expressions when he’s playing with you. 

༄ jamil viper: lips

✣ an entire existence defined by subservience, jamil finds it hard to actively voice his desires. his relationship with kalim is still recovering and he feels as if he has no genuine outlets to express his feelings even though you’ve told him otherwise multiple times. instead, he opts to kiss you in the quiet moments between his hectic lifestyle. secluded corners become your favorite meeting place as his lips touch yours and he can feel the built up resentment leave him from that one action. your lips are what connect him to you in the most intimate way possible, they’re what praise him for his wits or talents, what come to his defense when kalim is being just a bit too unreasonable with his asks. there’s a chance he’ll clam up if you comment on how he seems to grow insatiable the moment you two are alone ; but sometimes when his social etiquette tank has run dry, he clicks his teeth and says “so?” before showing you exactly how needy he can get.

What exactly will you receive for $60?

Two 12fps looping .gif files in an Ace Attorney style, one talking and one idle, of the character of your choice from the waist up. They can be in pretty much any still position, but I get final say on whether something is too difficult or too complex. I will work to make the sprite as accurate as possible while adhering to the style.

What will you receive for $20?

Either a short 12fps animation of your character or another two looping gifs (talking and idling) in a different pose/emotion. An animation can be combined with talking. For example, this Wei Wuxian MDZS would be $80: $60 as a base price (standing still and talking) with $20 added for his hand gesture.

This set of Lan Wangji MDZSs would be $100: $60 (base price, neutral animation) + $20 (happy) + $20 (displeased).

What counts as a "slot"?

Art of one character, no matter how many pieces I was commissioned for.

For more examples of my Ace Attorney-style work, here is the masterpost for my MDZS x Ace Attorney crossover series, which I have been adding to for a while now. I am not affiliated with objection.lol. The sprites *can* be used in the program to great success. However, I will not guide you through creating a case in objection.lol. There are a lot of tutorials available. I am selling animated illustrations of your character and nothing else.

I am not affiliated with Capcom or Ace Attorney. My work copies the style of original games. In many cases, I have referenced pre-existing animations or sprites.

Just in case, I'm limiting the max number of pieces for a single character to 3 poses and 1 animation ($120) (so I don't get bored drawing them over and over again). One person can commission me for multiple characters but they will count as different slots (i.e., you may commission the max amount of work for Blorbo Bingus ($120) and also commission two poses for Dworbo Dingus ($80) for a total of $200, counting as two slots).

It is my privilege to take or refuse commissions at my discretion.

Depending on demand, I may adopt a first-come first-served waitlist system, but I really can't know at this point.

Payment depends on the price of the commission, but in general I will not start the piece until I am paid via Paypal. Venmo is a secondary option. My prices are in USD.

Hey hey! You’ve probably been asked this a lot but what made you want to start creating I Don’t Want To Be A Magical Girl?

And what made me want to make I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl... It was a lot of things! (im assuming you mean the pilot in general)

The idea started off as a stupid doodle/character design practice. It wasn't gonna be anything more than that. I just felt like drawing a cute character with a gun really hahaha.

It's not a particularly original premise and I didn't plan to do anything more with her (as I do with most of my ocs/designs). But I actually did really like this one and couldn't help but think of little ideas and scenarios with her. Things started ramping up in my brain more when I realized I could attach a personal story and personal experiences to it to make it feel less cliche. That's when I started designing the other characters and coming up with bios and stuff

And then that was gonna be it again. I'd maybe do a comic here and there but there was a combination of things that happened that led to me jumping in and making a pilot.

First of all, I had a two month hiatus coming up so I had so much time. I also decided to step down from my directors position to be a board artist again in the coming season. So I really wanted to get some storyboarding practice in and what better way to do that than with this character I ended up really liking? I also don't have a portfolio and I'd been wanting to make something that's very me rather than my work from an existing show.

I'd offhandedly mentioned to my editor at disney that I wanted to do a board for these characters and she told me she'd help me make an animatic if it ever came to that. I couldn't pass up that opportunity! Now, since it was gonna be an animatic and I didn't want it to just be my scratch, I reached out to a bunch of VA friends to see if they'd be interested and they were!

Then other than having that support, just seeing my friends work on their own personal projects has been really inspiring and made me want to also do my own thing! Me and my friend group had just made a whole video game for our friend as a bday present which was so creatively fulfilling and made me realize like "oh my god we're artists we can literally just make stuff".

In the past I'd been so afraid to share my original work and for similar fears I've never wanted to showrun despite having the opportunity to pitch. While it's flattering to be wanted there was this pressure that felt like "oh you HAVE to make something, you're wasting your talent otherwise." (lol this is ironically the thesis of idwtbamg). And as a qpoc, i'd felt this extra layer of pressure to have to make something perfect on all fronts because if i fail in any capacity, i'm failing my community. it'd just be another another reason for people to say "ah queer media and work centering poc just can't succeed." then on the other end, i can only do and write what i know and feared that other people in my community wouldn't resonate with it or would feel like it's inaccurate to their own experiences.

but that's an exhausting way to feel and i've finally decided for myself that i'm just gonna tell stories that are authentic to me and it will reach whoever it needs to reach~ this realization was kind of the final step i needed to push myself to go all in. and now we're here!

My Favorite Cheap Art Trick: Gradient Maps and Blending Modes

i get questions on occasion regarding my coloring process, so i thought i would do a bit of a write up on my "secret technique." i don't think it really is that much of a secret, but i hope it can be helpful to someone. to that end:

this is one of my favorite tags ive ever gotten on my art. i think of it often. the pieces in question are all monochrome - sort of.

the left version is the final version, the right version is technically the original. in the final version, to me, the blues are pretty stark, while the greens and magentas are less so. there is some color theory thing going on here that i dont have a good cerebral understanding of and i wont pretend otherwise. i think i watched a youtube video on it once but it went in one ear and out the other. i just pick whatever colors look nicest based on whatever vibe im going for.

this one is more subtle, i think. can you tell the difference? there's nothing wrong with 100% greyscale art, but i like the depth that adding just a hint of color can bring.

i'll note that the examples i'll be using in this post all began as purely greyscale, but this is a process i use for just about every piece of art i make, including the full color ones. i'll use the recent mithrun art i made to demonstrate. additionally, i use clip studio paint, but the general concept should be transferable to other art programs.

for fun let's just start with Making The Picture. i've been thinking of making this writeup for a while and had it in mind while drawing this piece. beyond that, i didn't really have much of a plan for this outside of "mithrun looks down and hair goes woosh." i also really like all of the vertical lines in the canary uniform so i wanted to include those too but like. gone a little hog wild. that is the extent of my "concept." i do not remember why i had the thought of integrating a shattered mirror type of theme. i think i wanted to distract a bit from the awkward pose and cover it up some LOL but anyway. this lack of planning or thought will come into play later.

note 1: the textured marker brush i specifically use is the "bordered light marker" from daub. it is one of my favorite brushes in the history of forever and the daub mega brush pack is one of the best purchases ive ever made. highly recommend!!!

note 2: "what do you mean by exclusion and difference?" they are layer blending modes and not important to the overall lesson of this post but for transparency i wanted to say how i got these "effects." anyway!

with the background figured out, this is the point at which i generally merge all of my layers, duplicate said merged layer, and Then i begin experimenting with gradient maps. what are gradient maps?

the basic gist is that gradient maps replace the colors of an image based on their value.

so, with this particular gradient map, black will be replaced with that orangey red tone, white will be replaced with the seafoamy green tone, etc. this particular gradient map i'm using as an example is very bright and saturated, but the colors can be literally anything.

these two sets are the ones i use most. they can be downloaded for free here and here if you have csp. there are many gradient map sets out there. and you can make your own!

you can apply a gradient map directly onto a specific layer in csp by going to edit>tonal correction>gradient map. to apply one indirectly, you can use a correction layer through layer>new correction layer>gradient map. honestly, correction layers are probably the better way to go, because you can adjust your gradient map whenever you want after creating the layer, whereas if you directly apply a gradient map to a layer thats like. it. it's done. if you want to make changes to the applied gradient map, you have to undo it and then reapply it. i don't use correction layers because i am old and stuck in my ways, but it's good to know what your options are.

this is what a correction layer looks like. it sits on top and applies the gradient map to the layers underneath it, so you can also change the layers beneath however and whenever you want. you can adjust the gradient map by double clicking the layer. there are also correction layers for tone curves, brightness/contrast, etc. many such useful things in this program.

let's see how mithrun looks when we apply that first gradient map we looked at.

gadzooks. apologies for eyestrain. we have turned mithrun into a neon hellscape, which might work for some pieces, but not this one. we can fix that by changing the layer blending mode, aka this laundry list of words:

some of them are self explanatory, like darken and lighten, while some of them i genuinely don't understand how they are meant to work and couldn't explain them to you, even if i do use them. i'm sure someone out there has written out an explanation for each and every one of them, but i've learned primarily by clicking on them to see what they do.

for the topic of this post, the blending mode of interest is soft light. so let's take hotline miamithrun and change the layer blending mode to soft light.

here it is at 100% opacity. this is the point at which i'd like to explain why i like using textured brushes so much - it makes it very easy to get subtle color variation when i use this Secret Technique. look at the striation in the upper right background! so tasty. however, to me, these colors are still a bit "much." so let's lower the opacity.

i think thats a lot nicer to look at, personally, but i dont really like these colors together. how about we try some other ones?

i like both of these a lot more. the palettes give the piece different vibes, at which point i have to ask myself: What Are The Vibes, Actually? well, to be honest i didn't really have a great answer because again, i didn't plan this out very much at all. however. i knew in my heart that there was too much color contrast going on and it was detracting from the two other contrasts in here: the light and dark values and the sharp and soft shapes. i wanted mithrun's head to be the main focal point. for a different illustration, colors like this might work great, but this is not that hypothetical illustration, so let's bring the opacity down again.

yippee!! that's getting closer to what my heart wants. for fun, let's see what this looks like if we change the blending mode to color.

i do like how these look but in the end they do not align with my heart. oh well. fun to experiment with though! good to keep in mind for a different piece, maybe! i often change blending modes just to see what happens, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i very much cannot stress enough that much of my artistic process is clicking buttons i only sort of understand. for fun.

i ended up choosing the gradient map on the right because i liked that it was close to the actual canary uniform colors (sorta). it's at an even lower opacity though because there was Still too much color for my dear heart.

the actual process for this looks like me setting my merged layer to soft light at around 20% opacity and then clicking every single gradient map in my collection and seeing which one Works. sometimes i will do this multiple times and have multiple soft light and/or color layers combined.

typically at this point i merge everything again and do minor contrast adjustments using tone curves, which is another tool i find very fun to play around with. then for this piece in particular i did some finishing touches and decided that the white border was distracting so i cropped it. and then it's done!!! yay!!!!!

this process is a very simple and "fast" way to add more depth and visual interest to a piece without being overbearing. well, it's fast if you aren't indecisive like me, or if you are better at planning.

let's do another comparison. personally i feel that the hint of color on the left version makes mithrun look just a bit more unwell (this is a positive thing) and it makes the contrast on his arm a lot more pleasing to look at. someone who understands color theory better than i do might have more to say on the specifics, but that's honestly all i got.

just dont look at my layers too hard. ok?

“We’ve got two weeks!”

“Soap.”

“Can you believe that?”

“Johnny.”

Soap’s smile remains but melts slightly. “What?”

“I’m leaving.”

He chuckles. “We both are.”

You shake your head. “No. I’m leaving the team.”

Soap frowns slightly. “Retirement?” He shrugs. “Seem a bit young.” That smile returns and he saunters forward, his large hands grasping your hips. “Means we can go public.”

He leans in for a kiss, but your heart isn’t in it. Soap realizes the reluctance the moment your lips meet. “It’s something else,” he says.

You nod because that is all you can manage. Originally, Captain Price said he wanted to tell the team together, but he doesn’t know about you and Johnny. Soap needs to know first before the rest. If not, it’ll come as a blow and a betrayal. You can’t do that to him no matter what Captain Price says.

“I’m being transferred,” you murmur, voice breaking slightly.

Soap does not retreat. He rests his forehead against your own, eyes closing as he inhales. His arms slide from your hips to your back, drawing you against him.

“I’m sorry,” you whisper.

“We’ll figure it out,” he says rubbing your back. “We’ll figure it out together.”

Kyle "Gaz" Garrick

Kyle enters the meeting room. It’s the last one before everyone breaks for a month.

But there is someone missing.

Laswell and Captain Price talk quietly, their heads bent in conversation. Soap is showing something to Ghost on his phone.

You are not among them. You are not in your usual spot.

Laswell glances up and Price clears his throat. “We can start.”

“Hold up, Captain. We’re missing one.”

Kyle gestures toward the chair you usually sit in and Price frowns.

“Transferred on another mission,” interrupts Laswell.

Kyle says nothing, sinking into his chair. He listens but most of it slips right out of his head. The only thing he can think about is that you’re not here and you didn’t say anything.

When Laswell and Price are finished, and everyone begins to exit, Kyle lingers, intent on talking to Price.

“Not gonna talk about our missing team member?”

“Nothing to say,” shrugs Price. “Transferred this morning.”

Kyle swallows down the emotion rising in his throat. No one knows about the two of you, and if he pushes too much, he might reveal something he shouldn’t.

“Coming back?” asks Kyle.

“Eventually,” answers Price. “Not sure when.”

Eventually. There’s hope then.

Simon "Ghost" Riley

“You’re leaving.”

“Simon.”

“Did you plan on telling me?” You remain silent and Simon shakes his head. “Waiting for Price to do it?”

“That’s not true.”

Simon takes a step forward, entering your space. “I saw the transfer on his desk. I saw the date. How long have you known?”

“Does that matter?” you ask.

“Of course it does,” he snaps.

Simon is never angry, not with you. His anger is subtle which makes it more terrifying. This is something else. Simon is hurt, and you’re the cause of it.

“I’m sorry you found out like this. I planned on telling you.”

“When?” He’s closer now, towering over you.

“When I had more information.”

“More information?”

“I don’t know where I’m going or with who,” you add.

“Might not tell you until you get there. Happens all the time.”

You understand his meaning and know that Simon is right. Would you have left without telling him anything, only saying something once you’d left?

No. This thing between you might be tangled but he is the only one you want.

“Are you upset?” you ask.

Simon deflates. “Not with you.” He tugs you against him, creating a cocoon of warmth. “Never.”

John Price

The transfer papers mockingly stare at Price.

All this time, he believed he could have you without repercussion. Didn’t matter that you were another member of the team and his subordinate. You were his, and Price could protect you.

But these papers came from someone above him, and he cannot refuse them. No matter how much he wants to.

And no one knows what the two of you do when there isn’t anyone looking. But now, that’s shattered. Broken. And Price must grieve for your departure in silence. Price has already raged. He punched the wall until his knuckles bled.

After that, he walked until he came to terms with it.

You don’t know yet. You have no idea. Telling you will be the hardest part. What will happen? How will the two of you move forward? Can the secrets remain, or will it all need to be out in the open?

Price sighs and runs his hands over his face.

This is a punishment. Must be. Why else is it happening?

There is a loud knock at the door. Again, Price sighs, knowing that he has to face the reality of the situation.

How do you not suffer like soul-crushing burn out and exhaustion from making so much content so quickly? Like that seems like something that would degrade the quality of your work over time and basically incinerate a person. How do you avoid that?

For Scarlet Lady specifically, I didn't even start publishing pages until I had the entire "Origins" episode drawn, lined, and "colored". Back then, I was posting two pages a week, so that bought me about a month to work on the next part. I self-imposed a rule that I needed to draw at least one new page for every page that was posted, so I was never less than 7 pages ahead.

At one point, I changed how I was planning chapters - in "Origins - Part 1", "Origins - Part 2", "Stormy Weather", and "Bubbler" were all made using my old method of "write a page when you think of a joke" method. When I got to "Lady Wifi", I started planning the whole chapter start to finish with an overall plot and then making the script with jokes after the general episode was planned, which overall sped up my work.

Soon I was full episodes ahead of what was being posted. I was able to increase posting to three times a week and it wouldn't bite into my headway.

When I hit "Volpina", my favorite episode to work on, I had so much fun that I was finishing two pages a day. And then it happened again in "Dark Cupid". And again and again and before I knew it, I was like half a season ahead of what was being posted.

When I went through bouts of burnout, I had plenty of headway to take a break. I know mine isn't a perfect model to replicate for everyone, and there's certainly pitfalls (like canon adding something that changes a joke I made two months ago, or new lore dropping, or not being able to immediately implement reader feedback where it's warranted), but for burnout, it worked for me.

Pearl’s Default Skin Evolution!

I’m making this post because since Wild Life I’ve seen a few times (genuinely I’m not just talking about the person I responded to earlier, I’ve seen it a lot) that people are confused about why Pearl is blonder in her Red Life skin! And then I started rambling when replying to someone and decided to just make my own post about it.

2016- May 2019

This first default skin is the one she wore in her OG build time lapses as well as Evo SMP (You can see it in her oldest ever Minecraft video, from 2016!)

She wore this skin until part of the way through Artisan SMP (I know people forget this but she was in two other SMPs between Evo and Hermitcraft), which you can only watch via streams saved on her YouTube channel in the Artisan SMP playlist!

Also a fun fact, according to Pearl, the EVO murder mystery skin (dress) is the first one she ever made herself. Correction: Pearl made these skins herself, I just misheard something she said on stream a few weeks ago!

June 2019-Nov 2020

Her next default skin was this one:

The first video on her channel that she wore this was, as far as I can tell, “Transforming my Very FIRST Minecraft World | 2014 to 2019”. As you can probably tell, this was uploaded in 2019. She also wore it, as previously stated, during Artisan SMP, starting in Stream #23 which was in 2019.

Fun fact: it’s also her only default skin where she’s wearing a hat, and not a hoodie! Which is why her chibi drawings/emotes are wearing a hat, despite her hoodie being much more recognizable now. I believe she was using the chibi emotes first in 2020? She has one in the thumbnail of a vid from 2020 where she transformed one of Joel’s builds.

Nov 2020- Nov 2021

Pearl first wore this skin in Legacy SMP 2! She then wore it (or a version of it) until episode 14 of Hermitcraft season 8 and session 7 of Last Life. She actually has no episode 7 of Last Life uploaded, but you can see her wearing the Halloween version of it in other POVs. We are starting to get into familiar Pearl territory!

Here we see the start of some recognizable Pearl elements! The hoodie and jorts, for one, as well as having brown hair with blonde highlights. I lowkey like how chunky the blonde is, though I understand why it was changed. Pearl has actually said the original plan for this skin was to have the hair out, but her and the skin artist, Liv, decided against it in the end.

Yes I made Empires Pearl larger. This is because I want you to notice that shape of her loose hair is the same shape as her current loose hair!

Nov 10 2021- Nov 18 2021

This was the OG version of Pearl’s current default skin. The only difference is the hair, which was changed due to viewer feedback and to be closer to Pearl’s actual hair color.

Why is a skin she only wore for one week important then? Why, because of the only skin wore based on it during that week.

That’s right! The red pearl skin is based on a slightly blonder version of Pearl that only lasted a week! It just happens that during that one week, the final session of Last Life was filmed. This is why, when you see her gradient skins from Wild Life she seems to be getting blonder! Because it’s transitioning into her red skin she’s been using since Last Life.

Note: Her MCC 22/MCC Pride 24 skin as well as a Hogwarts (?) skin she wore at some point two years ago (I cannot figure out when so please tell me if you know) also have the blonder hair, but they were made after she had already switched to her current skin, so I think that whoever the skin artist was just decided they liked the blonder hair better for those looks.

Nov 18 2021- Current

Here we have our modern default Pearl skin, which I love deeply! Any MCC, event, or Hermitcraft skin that she’s worn since have been based on this one.
