Love how Izzy is just like... a cat.
like first he's Ed's cat, he's an asshole to everyone but Ed, especially the new partner that just moved in.
and then he got 'rehomed' with Stede, and he finds he doesn't mind it. like he's sitting on Stede's shit (his desk) and barging into his quarters (especially after stede's had sex and is having a morning after moment. 10/10 cat behavior, coming in and meowing and demanding attention), and just follows him around, cause he can.
he's like a grumpy old, not quite senior but definitely getting there, tomcat (big tomcat cheeks and all) who has begrudgingly (very willingly, in his own emotionally constipated way) taken quite well to his new life.

Wednesday Prompt: timetravel with both Alec and Magnus returning to the start of their journey. By this time however Alec has been married to Magnus for years, and led the Clave for years. Meaning he no longer defines his worth through his family and he demands the respect he deserves. His „they cannot have been that bad“ nostalgic view on the terrible three and reality clash quite badly, resulting in quite a lot of change to the timeline and a lot of forced growing up for the trio.
here we go! i hope you enjoy this! thank you for the lovely prompt!
lumine
-
Perhaps, if they weren’t soul bonded, Alec could have been convinced it was a dream.
That’s what everyone else thinks.
That he reacted violently when he woke up from his fever because of a dream and the medics say it’s natural. That his temperature was dangerously high for a nephilim and that they weren’t sure he’d make it.
If it weren’t for Magnus, Alec might believe them, but no one and nothing can convince him that what he has with Magnus doesn’t still exist.
He’s seen stranger things than the tantrums of time and while it’s strange to walk the Institute’s halls in a body so much different from the one he’s used to; he knows it’s real.
Alec sees a young, alive Izzy and Jace and while his heart leaps to see them again and so youthful, there is something far more important.
So, he nods and keeps his face blank and gets rid of them as fast as he can, pleasantly surprised at how easily they back off and let him rest.
The moment they’re gone, Alec is using his stele to carve a series of secret runes. The Commander of an Institute is privileged to know the secrets of their home and Alec isn’t surprised when the passage opens up.
Finding Magnus loft should be difficult, but Alec’s never found an easier path to walk. His feet lead him past wards that sing when they touch him and a door that opens before he raises his hand to knock.
A shockwave of magic knocks him back but the wards catch him. Alec stares because Cat and who he recognizes must be Ragnor are both violently struggling to contain Magnus.
The shockwave wasn’t an attack or defense, but a backlash of their magic against Magnus. The three of their magics are struggling not to hurt each other and Magnus’ magic seems torn.
As if Magnus can’t bring himself to hurt his friends, but that letting them keep him contained is torturing him.
Cat is crying and so is Ragnor and Alec knows instantly that Magnus must have also had a fever. If Cat and Ragnor were healing him and here when he woke, they would have been compelled to stop him.
Because Alec knows that Magnus would have said fuck to the timeline, to the clave, to the world and come to him.
Which would mean they’re stopping Magnus from what they probably assume is a fever-induced attack on the clave.
Magnus is ready to do very stupid things if it means breaking free from the hold Cat and Ragnor have on him until a fourth energy presses against the barrier.
Magnus’ magic croons, delight in every particle of it as it presses harder, a possessive need fueling it.
“Alexander—” Magnus demands quietly because his vice his hoarse from screaming and his boy comes to him. Not even Cat and Ragnor’s combined magic can compare to the desire that Magnus magic has to be reunited with Alec.
The minute he has his beloved, his darling Alexander back in his arms, everything goes still.
Magnus isn’t aware of the flashes of blue and gold that dance between them, only that he has Alexander pressed against him and can feel him again.
“Alexander, you must never leave my side again,” Magnus orders him because he can’t bear it. From the way Alexander’s arms tighten like bands of platinum around him at the thought, his boy agrees.
As their bond settles back into place, Magnus sighs in contentment as his control returns back, his magic, — all of it that he gained as sole sovereign of Edom — returns to him.
With their magic slowly dissipating, Cat and Ragnor hover around him and Magnus loves them, but he doesn’t trust these versions of his dear family with Alexander just yet.
So, he wraps ward after ward around his boy as Alexander presses close and breathes him in.

Hello! Would you be comfortable writing headcanons for Frenchie x reader both being aromantic and in a queer platonic relationship? 👾
Hey anon! If the living-together vibe isn't what you pictured, let me know! I can do another set.
Frenchie is a pretty good cook, when he can be bothered to cook. There are just a lot of moving parts and he'll inevitably drop one, which discourages him. When he's cooking for you, though, you can step in and pick up where he leaves off -- like by cleaning, or remembering the cinnamon, or doing the tedious chopping. You make a good team, and dinner's never a chore you split up.
Speaking of chores, once you moved in together, you were really shocked at how well Frenchie does things like cleaning and vacuuming. You mentioned it and he said it's a service thing and he'd rather not talk about it.
You live in a two-bedroom, but Frenchie spends most nights in your room, just playing on his phone next to you while you do the same until it's lights-out and curling into you like a parenthesis thereafter. Neither of you take it personally if you have a night where you'd rather sleep alone.
You're each other's emergency contacts at your jobs and at doctor's offices. You have a joint bank account and you're both on the lease. You talk about getting married someday for reasons like those. You like the promise of commitment, and Frenchie likes the idea of a big party.
Predictably, you do not have a cat. If you want cat time, you have to visit a friend (Wee John's cat is a very funny ragdoll, so she's your top choice for cat visits). Frenchie's fine with any other animal, though. You've nixed lizards, tarantulas, and sugar gliders as pets. You're probably going to get a couple of rats. (Not one, because they need company -- "like us," Frenchie said.)
If you're in contact with your family, Frenchie is too, and they love him. He's great with your parents (all that bullshitting pays off) and with the niblings (which really isn't a surprise when you think about it).
Frenchie is the king of body-doubling. If you're not around to double with, he'll get Roach on FaceTime or call Izzy on speaker. It helps him get things done, and besides, he gets lonely really easily.
When you moved in together, Wee John understood what was up -- you're Room People, but Apartment People. Your other friends had some questions, but everyone gets it now. Except Ed and Stede, who are too ridiculously romantic to understand, but they try.
Frenchie gets a look on his face when he's using the trauma box that you've learned to recognize. You've also learned when it's okay to nudge it open and when it's better just to let it rest.
Frenchie loves Christmas.

POODLES IN THE WASTELAND
i jest I jest
But 👀
What about pets? Either ones companions would have or a very uncommon one that someone wouldn’t think was a good pet, BUT IS. Deathclaws you can ride like a pony, mole rats that want belly rubs, cazadore’s as cattier pigeons! What are your thoughts?
Or like, Danse or Piper or Fawkes with something hilarious Idek ignore me
Oooookay, here’s my comprehensive list of companions - ALL companions, across Fallouts 3, 4, New Vegas and 76 - and their (headcanon) choices in wasteland pets. I’ll give a little explanation for each - particularly as many of these companions are transients and don’t have the luxury of owning a home to keep pets at. Also, I feel like most of the companions, while they might not necessarily like pets, would be somewhat fond or at least respectful of the pets of the Lone Wanderer/Courier/Sole Survivor/Vault Dweller, like Dogmeat and Rex.
Bighorners
Lily Bowen: Everyone’s favorite super mutant grandma is already an experienced shepherdess in Jacobstown, and she’s more than willing to tear some night stalkers apart to keep her herd safe. If that’s not love beyond the norm for wasteland livestock, I don’t know what is. She’s probably given all of her bighorners names after the characters in the television reruns she used to watch on holotape in Vault 17, like Grace and Audrey and Lucille.
Brahmin
Raul Tejada: Actually spent a decent part of his pre-war life living on a ranch, so he knows that most brahmin don’t deserve being labeled “irritable” just because people don’t know how to read their body language. I think he’d follow wild brahmin herds around a bit on a whim and keep them from coming to any harm, especially the little ones. He gives them names like the cattle he grew up with, Corazon and Gordo and Blanca.
Rose of Sharon Cassidy: Doesn’t truck with the wild herds, but she knows that part of the success of a caravan lies with how well they treat their pack animals. All of her caravan’s brahmin have names - Penny, Magic and Sprinkles - and she’s careful to pair them up with drivers who are patient and work well with their various personalities.
Cats
Butch DeLoria: While Butch ultimately decided to leave Vault 101 behind, I don’t think he would ever truly lose his fear of radroaches after what they did to his mom. Having a little friend to warm his bunk in Rivet City and pounce on intruders would probably set his mind at ease, maybe a black tomcat with one ear named Pepper. He might even gift his mom a kitten when he next comes to visit.
Star Paladin Cross: I don’t think Cross much sees the use of an animal that doesn’t contribute to the community it lives in, like most of the Brotherhood of Steel. Cats, however, are excellent at pest control, even if the rats are bigger nowadays. I think she’d give the resident cats at the Citadel some pets in passing, and she’d smile when she has to extract playful kittens from inside her power armor frame. She’s especially fond of the cat colony’s matriarch, a scarred old tabby named Gemma.
Curie: Upon her transition into a synth body, Curie is overjoyed with most animals and their new willingness to approach her for attention. She especially loves cats because she can pick them up and better feel their fur and purring. Her favorite cat is an orange stray in Diamond City that she calls Claude.
Piper Wright: A companion for Nat when she’s out adventuring, an unbiased friend to bounce the latest opinion piece off of before going to print, and a lap-warmer for when you’re typing up the latest article about the exploits of the Minutemen - what’s not to like? The Wright family cat is a slippery, elegant calico named Sugar Bomb.
Preston Garvey: While the Minutemen forts and settlements definitely lean more toward keeping dogs around for security purposes, I think Preston likes his pets quieter and less likely to bowl you over in excitement. The one most likely to sleep with him in his bunk at Sanctuary is a grumpy gray gentleman named Anchovy.
Deathclaws
Veronica Santangelo: If anyone is crazy enough to swipe a deathclaw egg from a nest and try to hatch, rear and train a personal killing machine named Izzy, it’s Veronica. This will probably just alienate her from her Brotherhood chapter even more, but I’m sure she would take special care to make sure that her usual Mojave Wasteland haunts take a peek through a scope to see if the approaching deathclaw has a human on its back before taking a shot.
Dogs
Clover: I don’t think Clover gets out beyond Paradise Falls much, so the only animals she’s used to are the dogs the raiders bring around when passing through. She probably has favorites among the usual visitors and enjoys tossing them bits of meat when she’s allowed to get away from Eulogy and Crimson. If liberated, she’d probably get at least three of her own dogs to watch over her while she sleeps: One small dog to carry with her, a Pekingese or Pomeranian descendant named Coco, and two large dogs to follow through on intimidation and protection, a mastiff named Rock and a Doberman descendant named Roll.
Jericho: Jericho doesn’t deserve a dog but he’d probably have one around anyway to sniff out caps caches and hidden loot after he’s shot everyone in the vicinity. Some slinky beagle mix named Dewey, probably.
Fawkes: I don’t think Fawkes would be picky at all about what kind of dog he’d have. He strikes me as the type who would adopt any half-friendly mutt he ran across. I do think he would have a bit of a soft spot for friendlier mutant hounds, though, and maybe view their mutated circumstances as similar to his own. He’d also be absolutely amazing at playing fetch. Just imagine how far he could lob a stick or ball. All of his dogs would have literary names too, like Byron and Agatha and Edgar.
Craig Boone: Though he’s a bit of a prodigy at sniping, Boone knows his limitations when it comes to spotting hidden enemies on the horizon. I can see him having a hound dog at his side to find the more elusive ones and help him get rid of them faster. Maybe a bloodhound mutt named Bravo.
Cait: Doesn’t like people, but she adores dogs. Having had the life where she’s been abused, exploited and forced into slavery, she’s keenly aware that those like the ones who took advantage of her treat dogs much the same. She’s very protective of any dog she encounters and is very likely to punch you in the face if you so much as look at one wrong. She’d probably name any pup she adopted Lucky.
Hancock: Honestly, he’s just a fan of any animal that is happy to hang out with you whether you’re drunk, high, fighting raiders or patrolling downtown Boston. The Goodneighbor strays know him as the guy who always has mirelurk jerky in his pockets. His favorite is a rough-and-tumble, black-and-white spotted cattle dog descendant that he cheekily calls King George.
Robert MacCready: He’s not quick to trust dogs, but once he’s sure they’re not a threat, they’re one of the few critters around which he’ll relax completely. He’s still a little wary of them around Duncan, but any dog that’s a part of his family is more or less his son’s permanent babysitter.
Nick Valentine: Dogmeat is also basically his dog. The two have a history of working cases together, with Dogmeat just turning up whenever a trail goes cold and leading Nick to the evidence he needs to reopen his investigation. Nick doesn’t know how or why Dogmeat does it, but he’s not about to ruin a good thing.
Strong: I don’t think he would turn down a ferocious mutant hound as a friend. He’d probably feed it mole rats and call it something like Killer.
Foxes
Beckett: This former raider has a love-hate relationship with a fox that keeps going through his trash. He affectionately calls him Lil’ Bastard.
Sofia Daguerre: Having crashed back to an earth she doesn’t recognize, I think Sofia would be tickled that the foxes of Appalachia have basically stayed the same despite the bombs. I can see her leaving dinner scraps out on her porch for one that she sometimes spots in the foliage, and slowly coaxing the critter to come into the light. She names her Scarlett once she finally convinces her to eat out of her hand.
Mega sloths
Settler forager: I would not be at all surprised if this man ran into a mega sloth in the Mire and decided to try befriending it. The creature, probably surprised at this old guy’s nerve, decided to accept the handful of leaves he offered and grew slowly more fond of the guy’s persistence. It doesn’t know its name is Fergus but it does know that if a human is wearing overalls, it’s probably not a threat.
Mole rats
Deacon: Alright, hear me out. Deacon has a fondness for underdogs, and mole rats are about as underdog as they come. I think Deacon thinks these little guys are cute despite their wrinkles and buck teeth, and I think he sees the value in having a tunneling pet that likes to collect shiny things. One of his deep cover hideouts is in an old tunnel system in the northern Commonwealth, where he hangs out with a young mole rat named Henry.
Owls
Raider punk: This radio operator got wind of an abandoned nest of owlets in Appalachia early on in his career and, being the nearest to the report, decided to rescue the little guys. Now he has three owls that occasionally drop in at his camp to hoot and accept handouts: Nona, Decima and Morta. While he’s still fond of them, he’s usually disappointed that they aren’t the Mothman coming to visit.
Rad chickens
Yasmin Chowdhury: Ever the opportunistic cook, she picked up the practice of raising chickens from the settlers at Foundation and has four hens of her own: Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. The “ladies,” as she refers to them, give her a constant stream of eggs for omelets.
Ravens
Settler wanderer: This gal has an affinity with birds, who are always on the move like her. She admires their ability to be untethered and let the wind take them far and wide. Nevertheless, she likes to scatter corn when they come close to her on the road, and formed a sort of friendship with a particularly handsome specimen that she calls Tornado.
Wolves
Old Longfellow: This guy is the epitome of the meme about dads not wanting pets and then instantly falling in love with whatever animal enters their life. He probably found an injured wolf pup in his travels around the island and took pity on it, nursing it back to health in his cabin. It’s still got a bit of a twisted paw, but follows him around and listens like any other dog and answers to the name Lamoine.
Yao guai
Porter Gage: I bet this guy adopted an orphaned bear cub and raised it by hand. Now it’s so big that even if Gage thinks he’s an easy target for other raiders due to his age, he’s much less likely to get singled out than he thinks because he has a yao guai following him around like a puppy. The bear’s name is Fuzzy Wuzzy. It has no hair.
No pets, thanks
Charon: Too likely to accidentally wind up in the line of fire.
Sergeant RL-3: Too easily corrupted by Communist influences.
Arcade Gannon: Too much time spent getting in your way.
Codsworth: Too likely to make messes.
Paladin Danse: Too many wasted resources.
X6-88: Too much of a liability.
Ada: Too easy to lose when on the move.
Solomon Hardy: Too unsanitary.

Chapter Eight
“If you’re taking me to a strip club, I’m walking out and crashing Magnus’s bachelor party.”
“Dude, have a little faith.” Jace grabbed Alec’s elbow and helped him out of the car.
“And stop scrunching your nose to try to see through the blindfold,” Izzy said from Alec’s other side. “We can see you doing it. Besides, do you really think there aren’t going to be strippers at Magnus’s party? Have you met Catarina and Ragnor?”
“Yes, and I trust their taste in strippers more than I trust yours.”
“I think I’m supposed to be insulted,” Izzy said, opening a door so Jace could usher Alec through, “but honestly, I kind of just want to ask Cat if she knows any good strip clubs I can take Clary to for our next date night.”
Alec made a pained sound. “Can I request a moratorium on anything that involves strippers and any of my siblings?”
“You can request it,” Jace said, “but it doesn’t mean we’ll listen. Mind the gap; you’re about to step into an elevator.”
“Isn’t my bachelor party supposed to be about things I like?”
Izzy pushed the button for their floor. “No, it’s supposed to be about doing things with your friends and siblings before you get married and forget all about us.”
“Iz, I meet you for drinks literally every week. I’m not going to stop just because Magnus and I are married instead of engaged.” A slow smile spread across Alec’s face. “I’m marrying Magnus tomorrow.”
“Yeah, you are.” Jace patted Alec’s shoulder as the elevator doors slid open. “Almost there, buddy.”
They led Alec out of the elevator and down the hall.
“Okay stop,” Izzy said when they reached their destination. “You can take the blindfold off now.”
Alec made a show of keeping his eyes squeezed shut as he pulled off the blindfold, opening one eye slowly as though bracing for something horrible. Jace saw the moment Alec recognized where he was, his shoulders relaxing all at once.
Alec glanced between his siblings, unimpressed. “This is the door to our loft. I live here.”
“I told you I was going to plan you the perfect bachelor party,” Jace said. “Did you really want to spend your last night as a single man somewhere else?”
“Your party awaits, big brother,” Izzy said, swinging the door open.
“Alexander!” Magnus met them at the door, smiling broadly. “I was beginning to wonder if you were ever going to show up.”
“We had to drive around enough that he wouldn’t know where we were going,” Jace explained. “You know what his crazy sense of direction is like.”
Alec gave his fiancé a questioning look. “What happened to separate bachelor parties being an important part of the tradition?”
“Ragnor and Catarina reminded me that some traditions really aren’t that important,” Magnus said airily. “Especially when breaking them would make you happy.”
“He means he sulked and whined about having to spend all night away from you until we suggested a joint party,” Catarina said, handing Alec a martini and Izzy something dark and fruity with far too many cherries. “And then he pretended like it was all our idea.”
“It was pitiful, really,” Ragnor added. “At one point, he actually languished on my couch to moan about it like some discount gothic heroine.”
“And on that note,” Magnus said, taking Alec’s arm, “my fiancé and I will be going to join our friends who don’t intend to spend all evening mocking me.”
“That’s really sweet, you know,” Alec said as he let Magnus lead him away.
“Well,” Ragnor said, “it’s my duty as Magnus’s co-best-man to make sure he is sufficiently mocked this evening, so I suppose I must follow.” He looked at Jace and Izzy. “I believe Clary and Simon are in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on the cupcakes.”
Jace threw Izzy a questioning look. “Cupcakes?”
Izzy shook her head. “Must have been something Ragnor and Catarina planned. Let’s go see.”
The cupcakes, it turned out, were dick-shaped. And because it was Clary decorating them, they were very accurately dick-shaped.
“Oh yeah,” Izzy laughed, “this was definitely Cat’s doing.”
“Cat was in charge of baking, I’m in charge of decorating,” Clary confirmed, eyeing the cupcake she was working on critically. “Devil’s food cake with a chocolate-and-whiskey ganache filling and a variety of different icings. We’re calling them cock-cakes. Simon, pass me the lemon buttercream?”
“You got it, boss,” Simon said, grabbing one of the many pastry bags lined out on the counter and handing it to Clary before stepping over to Jace and greeting him with a warm smile that made Jace’s insides melt. “Hi.”
“Hi, yourself.” Jace couldn’t help his answering smile, couldn’t help drawing Simon into a soft kiss that felt easier than it probably should. “If I knew you were going to be creating culinary dick art without me, I would have made Iz drive Alec around on her own.”
“I’m mostly just assisting.” Simon leaned into him, stealing another quick kiss. “Clary’s the real artistic genius behind this masterpiece.”
“It’s true, my girlfriend is a genius,” Izzy agreed happily, walking over to wrap her arms around Clary’s waist from behind.
“Right now, this artistic genius is being distracted from finishing her cupcakes by too many people in the kitchen. You two,” she gestured at Simon and Jace, “take that finished tray out to the table.”
“Wait, how come we have to be the ones to leave?” Simon wondered. “Izzy’s being way more distracting than we are.”
“Because she’s cuter than you are,” Clary said without looking up from her cupcakes. “Go.”
Jace looked at Simon. “The lady has spoken, I guess. Come on, let’s go watch Alec pretend he doesn’t think these cupcakes are hilarious.”
~~~
Jace couldn’t remember the last time he’d been this happy. He wasn’t sure he ever had been this happy. The joint bachelor party had been a rousing success—cock-cakes, a stripper who was definitely not better than he would have hired, and all—and Jace was so glad he and Izzy had been able to help do this for Alec. And it had been amazing to see Alec so joyful and so obviously in love, to see Izzy and Clary and how happy they made each other. To feel the possibility of a love like that for himself every time Simon took his hand, to see it every time Simon smiled at him, to hear it every time Simon said his name.
It was enough to make him want to be a little reckless. Maybe even reckless enough to tell Simon that he was more to Jace than a fake-boyfriend-with-benefits, that Jace wanted them to be more. It was hardly a new thought, but Jace thought that maybe he was finally ready to say the words out loud.
“Hey, there’s something I want to talk to you about,” Simon said, as if reading his thoughts. “When we get back to the hotel,” he added, throwing a pointed glance at their Uber driver.
Jace smiled at him. “Sure. I actually wanted to talk to you, too.”
“Cool.” Simon sounded nervous. Jace could relate. Now that this was actually happening, he felt like he had an entire kaleidoscope of butterflies in his chest.
Jace’s butterflies hadn’t calmed down any by the time they made it back to their room, and he could practically feel the nervous energy radiating off Simon as he kicked his shoes off and started pulling out his clothes for morning.
“So,” Jace said, leaning against the wall with an affected casualness, “what did you want to talk about?”
Simon squared his shoulders, turned to face him. “I can’t do this anymore.”
Jace’s whole world rocked sideways. “What?”
This was not how this conversation was supposed to go.
“This whole fake dating thing. It was a mistake. I probably shouldn’t even have suggested it in the first place, but I thought—” He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. I was wrong, and I can’t keep pretending with you, so.” He took a deep breath, obviously steeling himself. “So, this is has to be it. After the wedding tomorrow, no more pretending.”
“Oh.” It was all Jace could find it in himself to say. He reached for the bravado he would normally wrap around himself in a situation like this, but it had deserted him entirely. “I can’t keep pretending with you.” It had all been pretend for Simon. And Jace didn’t even have any right to be hurt by it, because it was what he’d agreed to.
“It’s just,” Simon continued, “seeing Alec and Magnus so happy tonight, and seeing the way Clary and Izzy are together, and even the dumb text Becky sent me earlier about how excited she is to see Maia tomorrow, it all made me realize just how much I want that. I want it with someone I love who loves me back, and you—”
“And I’m not a relationship kind of guy,” Jace finished for him. He didn’t actually need to hear all the reasons that would never be him. He was aware of his own failings.
“Right.” Simon’s voice was barely above a whisper, all his nervous energy having drained away.
“I get it.” Jace forced a smile. Maybe he couldn’t be someone Simon wanted to really be with, but he could at least pretend he wasn’t devastated by that fact. “You deserve that kind of happiness, maybe more than anyone I know. I hope—” He drew in a sharp breath. He would not let his voice tremble. “I hope you find someone who can give it to you.”
He turned away, unable to maintain the facade any longer. “I’m going to hit the shower before bed.” He wasn’t proud of having to hide the bathroom with his feelings, but he couldn’t stay here with Simon, not now.
Jace spent a long time under the shower’s spray. Until he was sure Simon must have fallen asleep. Until he was sure all his tears had washed away.
~~~
Best man duties were almost enough to distract Jace from his own problems for most of the next morning, and he threw himself into making sure everyone in the wedding party was where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be, keeping Max away from anything flammable, and keeping Maryse and Robert away from each other. In the thankfully rare moments of downtime, he forced himself to put on a lighthearted demeanor. He wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of Alec having a perfect wedding, especially not his own stupid feelings.
He should have known that Alec would see right through him.
“You okay?”
Jace glanced up from the mirror he was using to fix his bowtie. Everything was set, everyone was in their proper places, and Jace had nothing left to do but keep Alec company and wait for the ceremony to start.
“I’m fine. I’m not the one getting married in,” Jace checked his watch, “twenty-three minutes.”
“Don’t deflect. You’re doing that thing you do with your eyebrows when something’s really bothering you, and I’m not doing anything for the next twenty-three minutes if you want to talk about it.”
“What I want,” Jace told him, “is for you to stop worrying about other people and get your ass married.”
“Fair enough,” Alec agreed. “But I’m here when you do want to talk about it. I know I’ve been completely wrapped up in wedding stuff for a while, but you’re still my brother and my best friend, and I don’t want you to think you’re any less important to me now than you always have been.”
Jace walked over and put a hand on Alec’s shoulder. “The only complaint I have about you being wrapped up in wedding stuff is how sappy it’s apparently made you.”
Alec chuckled. “Oh god, that was really sappy, wasn’t it? Shit.” He wiped at his eyes. “I think I might actually cry out there. You’re not allowed to make fun of me if I do.”
“Buddy,” Jace said gravely, “as your brother and best man, it is my solemn duty to make fun of you for it for the rest of our lives. But I’ll wait until you’re back from your honeymoon.”
Alec didn’t cry during the ceremony. Jace noticed a few moments when he had distinctly watery eyes, though, and filed those away for future teasing. Then Alec and Magnus were kissing and the ceremony was over and Jace had absolutely nothing left to distract him from his thoughts.
Especially when the subject of those thoughts was waiting for him in the reception hall, looking as hot as Jace had ever seen him in a perfectly tailored black suit. Jace had managed to avoid looking for Simon during the wedding, and seeing him now hit like a punch to the gut. His emotions were still too raw to deal with what had happened the night before, and there was only one way he was going to make it through this. Luckily, it was the thing he was supposed to be doing. Namely, pretending his ass off.
So he greeted Simon with a warm smile and a kiss to the cheek before settling into his seat. They were at a table with the rest of the wedding party, along with Clary, and it was all so familiar that Jace had no trouble falling back into his role, teasing the hell out of Alec and congratulating the happy couple. Simon made it easy, not acting any different than he had before their conversation, never hesitating to offer small touches and gestures of physical affection, even moving his chair closer so they could lean into each other once they were done eating. It would have made Jace a little sick if he let himself think about it, which he pointedly did not.
Jace let himself get lost in it. It was stupid, and probably a little selfish, but if this was the last time he would ever get to be with Simon like this, he was going to enjoy it.
“Dance with me.” He didn’t mean to say it, but apparently he’d had enough champagne that he wasn’t quite thinking before speaking anymore. He knew as soon as he said it that he’d overstepped. After all, look what had happened the last time they’d danced together.
“Oh.” Simon looked genuinely shocked by the suggestion. “I, uh...”
“I mean,” Jace backpedaled, “if you want to.”
“I believe I might fancy a dance, myself,” Ragnor said. He extended his hand to Madzie, the flower girl and Catarina’s daughter. “Might I have this dance, young lady?”
“Can we do the twirls?” Madzie asked, jumping up from her chair and spinning around to demonstrate.
“Obviously,” Ragnor told her seriously. “After all, what’s the point of dancing without twirls?”
Madzie didn’t bother to give a verbal answer, just grabbed Ragnor’s hand and skipped off toward the dance floor.
“With any luck, that will help her work off some of the sugar buzz from all that cake.” Catarina gave Magnus a long look. “I can’t believe you gave her a second slice.”
“My dearest Catarina, it’s my wedding day, and I will spoil my goddaughter if I want to.”
Catarina scoffed. “You say that like you don’t spoil her every day.”
“It’s true,” Alec agreed. “We might need to give her a third slice if we want to spoil her extra today.” He managed to keep a straight face right up until Cat’s napkin hit him in the face.
“I think I might need to dance off my own sugar buzz,” Izzy announced, grabbing Clary’s hand. “Come on, hot stuff. Let’s go shake our booties.”
Clary laughed. “I can’t exactly say no when you’re offering to shake your booty for me.”
“You know what?” Simon said suddenly. The look he gave Jace was challenging. “I do want to dance.”
It was Jace’s turn to be shocked, but he recovered quickly. “Okay.” He met Simon’s challenge with a smirk. “Let’s dance.”
Jace’s bravado was shaken slightly when the music transitioned to a slow love song right as they made it to the dance floor. But Simon didn’t hesitate, stepping onto the dance floor and drawing him close.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke, rocking gently to the music. They danced close enough that Jace could hear Simon’s breaths, feel them against his cheek. It was too much and not enough all at once, and Jace had to say something or he was going to go crazy.
“Thanks, by the way. For, you know, all of this. I don’t think I ever said that.”
“There’s nothing to thank me for.” Simon’s voice was low and intimate. “This was as much for me as it was for you.”
Jace wanted to say that it couldn’t possibly be, that if any of this meant half what it did to him for Simon, then he wouldn’t be able to give it up so easily. But that would have been deeply unfair, no matter how true, so instead he just said, “Well, thank you, anyway.”
Simon pulled back just enough to look him in the eye, and Jace didn’t understand why he looked so sad. “Thank you.”
And then they were kissing, slow and gentle, and Jace didn’t even remember moving, but he must have or how else could they have gotten here? All the longing and heartbreak he’d been pushing down all day rose up, threatening to break him open and spill out all over the dance floor. The only things holding him together were Simon’s arms around him, Simon’s body pressed against his as they swayed to near-forgotten music, Simon’s mouth on his.
When the song ended and Simon pulled away from him, Jace stumbled and had to force himself upright.
“Come back to the hotel with me,” he said urgently. He couldn’t just let Simon go, he realized, not without at least trying. They could go back to their room, and they could talk, and Jace would somehow find the words to convince Simon to stay. “Please.”
Simon closed his eyes and visibly steeled himself. When he opened them again, Jace knew he’d lost before he even had the chance to put up a fight.
“I already made plans to hang out with Becky and Maia tonight. You know, sibling and sibling’s-maybe-girlfriend bonding. Maia’s going to give me a ride back to Boston in the morning.” He took Jace’s hand and lifted it to his mouth to place a gentle kiss on his knuckles, then pressed something small and metal into his palm before letting go.
Jace couldn’t do anything but watch him walk away, the weight of his father’s ring heavier than it had any right to be in his hand.
~~~
The apartment was quiet when Jace got home, and he was both relieved that he wouldn’t have to face Simon yet and disappointed because, as much as he hated that he would have to box his feelings away, he missed Simon, even though it had only been two days since they’d last seen each other.
He found the note pinned to the refrigerator, held in place by the Spider-Man magnet that he’d gotten Simon as a “congrats on surviving a horrible lab partner and not failing chemistry” gift last year.
Staying at Bat’s for a while. -S
That was all. Nothing about why Simon had left or when he was coming back. If he was coming back. Jace’s fingers almost itched with the need to text Simon to find out exactly what the hell was going on, but the fact that Simon had left a note instead of texting suggested he didn’t mean for this to be a discussion.
Not that Jace actually needed a discussion. Simon had made it very clear that things were over between the two of them, that he didn’t feel the same way about Jace that Jace did about him, and instead of accepting it and moving on like a good friend would have, he’d kissed Simon at the wedding. He’d been on the verge of begging Simon to give him a chance. Of course Simon didn’t want to see him right now. He wouldn’t want to see him, either.
For half a second, Jace considered taking Alec up on his offer to call if he needed to talk, but Alec was on his honeymoon, and Jace might on occasion be a self-centered asshole, but he didn’t want to be that much of a self-centered asshole. Instead, he grabbed his half-empty package of Double Stuf Oreos and took them to the couch, where he turned on Return of the Jedi and bundled himself up in the fleece blanket Simon always used when his feet got too cold in winter.
When the movie was over and the Oreos were long gone, he dragged the blanket into Simon’s room and curled up on his bed, on top of the covers. Sleeping on top of Simon’s bed wasn’t as pathetic as sleeping in Simon’s bed, he reasoned. Especially if no one was there to see it. And if the fleece blanket kept any tears from getting on Simon’s comforter, then he wasn’t really crying.
MASTERPOST
And You're A Very Sexy Girl, Very Hard To Please
June 1985 “I feel like I don’t see you anymore!” Lena whines as she dramatically collapses on my bed. “Since that night, you’ve been distant.” “I’ve been actively avoiding Motley Crue, it’s no offense to you.” I bite my lower lip. “Mick, I know he doesn't have beef with me. He knows the articles I write are for work. Tommy is slowly starting to see my as the enemy. He doesn’t realize I’m writing these articles about Vince and the trial for work. He thinks it’s just a vendetta I have against Vince. I may have disliked him before the accident but Tommy thinks I blame Vince for Razzle’s death.” “But he is at fault, though.” Lena counters. “They were fucking plastered and had no business behind the fucking wheel. Your articles are for work. Tommy needs to grow up and realize that.” “You’re telling me.”I sigh. “I hate the idea for Tommy hating me forever. He’s like a little brother I never wanted.” “Have you been avoiding Sixx?” “That’s complicated.” A humorless chuckle escapes my lips. “He understands the articles and shit like that. He knows this is my job. I’m a journalist. My job is to report the truth, no matter how bad I make Vince look. It’s just…” “Sex is starting to suck?” “We can’t have sex without drugs involved.” I reply. “He constantly has to be fucked up on shit. And I think he’s expanding his drugs to some harder shit.” “Like?” “I started to find used needles in his bathroom.” I sighed. “Look, cocaine is one thing. Heroin is another.” “He could be shooting up coke.” Lena offers, trying to be helpful. “If it was just coke, he wouldn’t be hiding it.” I counter. “Plus it doesn’t smell like it. I’ve been around enough coke heads that shot up, I know the smell.” “Have you talked to him about it?” I scoff. “He response was and I quote ‘You’re not my fucking mother.’” I roll my eyes. “And that’s how I came to the conclusion that Nikki Sixx is starting to dabble in heroin. He never snapped at me like that. He would have called me a prude and laughed it off before pushing me up against the nearest wall and fucked my brains out.” “You know if you ever want to hang out, I’m sure Mick would have no problem leaving and allowing us to have a girls night.” Lena smiles. “Or he’ll stay. He misses you too.” “Mick is the least problematic member of Motley Crue, I swear.” I chuckle. “But I’ll keep that in mind. I miss you guys, it just sucks that I’m no longer welcomed by the 3 assholes of the apocalypse.” “Want to hang out tonight?” She suggests. “It looks like you can use a night in.” “Wish I could but I’ve got a show to get to at The Troubador.” I frown. “Remember me telling you about my friend Tracii?” “Guns?” She asks, earning a nod from me. “What about him?” “He founded a new band and he wants me to check them out, even if he’s not their lead guitarist anymore.” I reply. “They are playing tonight in West Hollywood. I know you don’t usually go out, but you’re right I could use a girls night. Can you come with me?” “Is that why you called me here?” She laughs. “I don’t have anything to wear.” “Raid my closet!” I squeal. “You’d have to anyway, you literally have no clothes perfect for a night out.” “Because I rather be home!” She whines as I pull her up off my bed and towards my closet. “You owe me Summers!” She exclaims as I push her into the walk-in closet. “Oh I know!” I laugh. “Make sure you look hot Lena!” I yell to her before disappearing into my bathroom to do my hair and makeup. ** “So what band are we seeing?” Lena asks as I push our way up to the stage, earning glares from several girls. I just smile sweetly at them before returning my attention to my shy friend, who is clearly uncomfortable about being here. “Guns N Roses.” I reply. “Tracii mentioned he formed this band with another upcoming band here on Sunset. He just didn’t tell me which band.” “Think he did that on purpose?” “This is Tracii so it is possible.” I chuckle just as the house lights dim and stage lights come on. One by one the band members come on and stage and my eyes instantly fall upon several of the members. I instantly recognize Izzy, Saul and sadly the redhead staring right back at me…”Axl…” I whisper causing Lena to snap her head at me. “Your ex?” “Remind me to kill Tracii after tonight…” ** “Look what the cat dragged in.” Izzy exclaims as he pulls me into a hug once I walk backstage alone since Lena bailed after the show ended. “Didn’t think I’d see this beautiful face again!” “Trust me, I didn’t think I’d see you again either gorgeous!” I chuckle as I part from one guitarist and pulled into the body of another one. “Hey Saul!” He cringes, “Slash in public please!” He whines but that quickly turns into a laugh. “How have you been? I heard you're a journalist now.” “I am.” I part from him. “I work for Rolling Stone and have been for a little over two years now.” “I read your article about Razzle’s death!” A blond man states. He’s their bass player I believe. “I’m Duff by the way.” “Aria!” I introduce myself with a smile. “That article was pretty hard to write. I was close friends with him and the boys of Hanoi Rocks. I lived with them for two weeks, covering their lives on tour.” “And you probably fucked every single one of them.” Axl spits at me, earning an eye roll from me. “Just because I’m a natural flirt doesn’t mean I screw everyone I meet, Rose.” I point out. “I’d hate for you to paint a bad picture of me in front of my two new friends.” I point to Duff and the other blond. “I have no idea your name by the way.” “It’s Steve gorgeous!” He smirks, causing me to laugh. “You really need to let our breakup go.” I tell Axl. “You left me, not the other way around. You let your fragile ego get in between us. You knew I was a flirt when you got together with me.” “Fine, you didn’t sleep with anyone from Hanoi Rocks.” He rolls his eyes. “Because why would you be, you were already in bed with Nikki fucking Sixx from Motley Crue.” “Jealous?” I smirk. “So you admit to sleeping with him during the article?” I roll my eyes at the question but I find myself walking over to him; getting right in his face. “Who I sleep with is none of your fucking concern William.” I stress his real name. “And Nikki and I didn’t hook up until after I left the tour. I am a professional after all.” “Come on, I don’t want tonight to be a repeat of the last time we saw you.” Saul states as he pulls me away from his lead singer. “Even though I'd love to see you punch him out again.” A laugh, a genuine laugh, escapes my lips for the first time in months. “I missed you, Hudson. Truly missed you.” “Let's not drift apart again then.” He shoots me a smirk. “You know the phone works both ways.” “I do now.” I assure him with a smile. “Come on, rockstar. I believe you owe me a drink…” “I believe you are right.” He chuckles. “Come on, let's get you a Jack and Coke shall we?” “You remember my drink of choice.” I gasp in mock disbelief. “I can’t believe that.” He just laughs before guiding me to the bar. I guess this night didn’t totally suck…
That time Alec moved to NYC away from his hyper religious family, and Izzy and Jace surprised him at his new apartment.  Read on Ao3
Life was tough for Alec, for a long time.
First military school, then a strict Religious college.
Really the college was something he had to fight for since they wanted him to go to West Point and this was the best he could argue them down to.
Because of all that, and his intense fear of being outed, Alec managed to stay in the closet until he was in his mid 20s.
Even his siblings don’t know.  Well, Izzy knows but only because her and Alec are the closest and she’s smart enough to figure it out on her own.
This also left him severely closed off emotionally, and with very few friends besides his family because he was kind of a stick in the mud.
When he gets an internship in his hometown of NYC he moves back there despite his family having moved away when he was in highschool.
It’s a big fight once again, but finally he’s able to get his own place there.
As he settles in, he still talks to his siblings most days, but slowly those talks begin to get fewer and fewer until Izzy and Jace realize they’ve really only talked to Alec via text for the last 6 months.
Worried he might be depressed or worse, they decide to go visit him and surprise him in NYC.
But when they arrive to Alec’s apartment someone else is living there, but he gives them the forwarding address for where the guy he’s subletting from said he moved.
“Brooklyn?” Both siblings say to each other with shock.
It takes them a while to get over to Brooklyn from Manhattan, but when they reach the fancy apartment building they wonder just how much Alec is making at this internship.
They head up, finding the number of the loft they’d been directed to and knock on the door.
What they expect to see is a surprised Alec, probably wearing a full grandpa style pajama outfit and having been asleep for hours at this point in the night.
What they get instead is another man answering the door in a purple, floral print kimono and a full face mask.
“Why, hello, can I help you?” Magnus asks, not immediately recognizing the two of them.
“Uh...  I think we have the wrong place.  Sorry, we were looking for our brother, Alec.”  Jace is looking anywhere but at the man whose kimono barely goes past his thighs and is open enough to see the smooth planes of his blemishless brown skin and chest.
“Oh, Alexander?  Hold on.  Alexander honey, there’s someone at the door!”
Jace and Izzy share equally incredulous looks at the man’s word choice before being let in to the lavishly decorated loft.
Neither of them are prepared for what they see next though.
“Mags, babe we need more popcorn, I told you if you left me alone I’d eat it all,” Alec says as he walks around the corner smiling, voice and face softer and more carefree than either of his siblings have ever seen him.
Even more surprising though is his physical appearance.
He’s shirtless, showing off a few tattoos on his side and arms,his beard has fully grown out  there’s one shining earring in his right ear, he’s got on a pair of silk pajama pants in the same purple, floral pattern as the other man and where his hands hold the bowl of popcorn they can see his fingernails are painted a matching shade as the other man’s toenails.
He looks, Soft, a word neither of them would have ever used for Alec in their entire lives.
The moment Alec’s eyes land on Izzy and Jace though he straightens, all the comfortable, easygoing demeanor washing out of him as his face flashes quickly to nervous, then an expressionless mask that they’re used to from Alec.
Izzy has her hand over her mouth, because she can’t believe Alec finally accepted himself and got a boyfriend and she wants to scream.  Both from happiness and from the fact Alec didn’t TELL her.
Jace just keeps staring, entirely confused.
“What are you doing here?” Alec says, and his voice has lost all the softness it had just a moment ago, sounding like the stern authoritarian they’ve known all their life.
“We came...  To see you,” Jace says, as if he doesn’t want to be seeing Alec right now, or simply can’t comprehend that it’s him.
Magnus looks between the two visitors and his boyfriend before a lightbulb goes off.  “Oh!  Are these your siblings?  Isabelle and Jace?”
“Yes,” Alec says, and he flinches for a moment when Magnus comes over and lays a hand on his shoulder.
Magnus knows he isn’t out to his family, but he figures the cat’s kind of already out of the bag.
The moment he thinks that Chairman Meow comes over, purring as it brushes against Alec’s leg.
For a moment Alec forgets to be hard and reaches down to scoop the cat up as he usually does, giving it a soft kiss on the head before his eyes trail back to his siblings who absolutely should not be here.
“You hate cats...” is all Jace can say, because their cat Church has always been a thorn in Alec’s side.
Magnus looks shocked, petting the kitty softly with his many ringed hand.  “Alexander is a wonderful cat dad.”
And then for the second time, Alec does something else neither of them have ever seen him do.  He blushes, a shy smile coming over his face as he turns towards Magnus.
That’s the moment Izzy knows, even though she’s never seen it on his face before or even expected to, that the expression Alec has is one of being deeply, madly in love.
“Mags...” Alec’s voice is so soft, so quiet and gentle.
He takes a deep breath and finally he turns to his brother and sister and the mask he was trying to wear slips and instead there’s just a sadness, resignation, even a hint of fear.
“Please don’t tell mom and dad...”
The words have barely left his lips before Izzy is running to him, drawing him into the tightest hug she’s ever given him.
“I’m so, so happy for you hermano…” she whispers against his neck and Alec smiles, feeling one weight lifting off his chest.
“What am I not supposed to tell because I honestly have no idea what I’m seeing...” Jace says, oblivious as usual.
Alec looks to Magnus who gives him a reassuring smile, taking the cat from him, then he looks to Izzy who’s beaming at him.
When he turns his gaze back on Jace he just sighs and shrugs.  “Don’t tell them I’m living with my boyfriend in Brooklyn?”
Jace stares from Alec to Magnus, who is now taking the face mask off himself to be a bit more presentable, looking dumbfounded.
“You...  You...”
“I’m Gay Jace.”  Alec didn’t expect to say that, not that he really needed to considering it was pretty clear, but the moment he does he feels the other weight shifting off him like he can breathe again.  “Magnus is my boyfriend.”
Izzy just clings harder to Alec, slapping him on the chest.
“I can’t BELIEVE you didn’t tell me!  Jerk, I need to know everything, where did you meet, how long have you been together, where can I get one of these kimonos because, Gorg.”
Magnus laughs as he moves to take Izzy’s hand and kisses it.
“Short answer?  We met at my club, Pandemonium, and it was about seven months ago, although it took me nearly two weeks to get Alec to even talk to me.  And then another month before he was ready to go on a date.  Everything after that has been a bit of a whirlwind.  And as for this” he gestures to his kimono, “I bought them on our trip to Japan last month.”
“So THAT’S why you were mia for two weeks last month.”
Alec looks sheepish, but he smiles and ducks his head, nodding.
“It was an early 6 month anniversary trip.”
“So is Magnus your sugar daddy?” Jace asks, clueless and tactless as always.
Except when he says it Alec just goes red in the face and looks away, scratching at his neck.
“Oh my God...  He is!”
“it’s, it’s not like that!” Alec tries, but he knows he’s kind of already given himself away.  It’s not like an intern could pay for a loft in Brooklyn this lavish or a random trip to Japan for a 6 month anniversary.
Magnus is laughing now, coming to hug his boyfriend and peck his cheek.
“Trust me, Alec fights me on every little thing I try to buy for him.  I wish he’d be my sugar baby...”
“Mags, please...” Alec says, and its a bit needy and whiny and adorable and so unlike the Alec that Izzy and Jace are used to.
Both of them are realizing maybe they never really knew their brother at all, or maybe he never knew who he was until he was able to find himself on his own.
“This is literally the best day of my life,” Izzy says, smiling as she moves to the couch and sits down.
“:Glad you’re enjoying my mortification.” Alec deadpans it, but there’s a curl of lips that hints he’s on the verge of smiling.
He takes a seat, with Magnus moving as if he was going to flop in Alec’s lap before thinking better of it and sitting on the arm of the chair.
“I find out my brother, who by the way I knew you were gay, has finally found his happiness, someone that makes him happy and lets him be the the best version of himself?  This is all I’ve ever wanted for you Alec.  And it doesn’t hurt you snagged a rich hottie.”
Magnus does a little twirl at that and Alec drags a hand down his face.  “Don’t inflate his ego anymore than ti already is.”
“Too late, I can already feel my head getting bigger.”
“You won’t be able to fit your necklaces over your big head soon Mags.”
“Wasn’t talking about that head Alexander,” and Magnus winks at that and Alec goes red down to his chest so fast it’s like someone poured paint over him.
“I can’t believe our big brother isn’t a tightass anymore.”
Magnus turns to Jace and smirks.  “Oh, he’s definitely still got a tight ass, but I’ve been working on it every night.”
That gets him shoved unceremoniously onto the floor off the chair by Alec who looks like he wants the floor to swallow him whole.
“Oh you know if anyone else was here you’d have laughed at that Alexander.”
“Not when it’s my little brother,” Alec says, but he doesn’t seem angry, just embarrassed.
“Sorry, just know that hurt my perfect behind.”
“I’ll kiss it better later,” Alec whispers, not quiet enough to Magnus and Izzy and Jace both about die of laughter.
Figuring there’s literally nothing else that can make this worse for him Alec pulls Magnus into his lap, holding him close like a security blanket to try to deal with the rapid emotional swings of the night he wasn’t prepared for.
“Just, like I said, please don’t tell mom and dad about...  Any of this,” he looks around the loft, his safe space with Magnus.  “I’m not ready for them to know, to deal with that.  I wasn’t really ready for you guys to know either but...  I guess I’m glad I don’t have to hide it anymore.”
Alec sighs, resting his head against Magnus’ side.  “I’m glad I don’t have to avoid you anymore...  I really missed you guys.”
“We missed you too Alec.  You could have told us, all we want is for you to be happy.”
Alec smiles, sad and soft, fingers reaching out to entwine with Magnus’.  “I know, but, just, this has been a lot for me.  I feel like an entirely different person than I was the last time I saw you both and I...  I didn’t know how to reconcile the version of me I constructed for our family and the real me.”
Izzy and Jace both understand that, smiling at their eldest brother.
“It’s okay, I’m just glad I get to meet this new, amazing, happy Alec now.”
“Thanks Iz…”
“As long as you’re happy, I’m happy Alec.”
“I know Jace.  Or at least, I always hoped.”
“Ok one last thing and then we can go and let you finish your little movie night,” Izzy says, “but can we talk about this new look too?”
Alec smiles, ducking his head again and Magnus scratches at Alec’s beard.
“He was such a confused little baby gay.  I had to do an entire wardrobe makeover.”
“It’s true, he threw out most of my clothes.”
“I let him keep the overlong hoodies  and sweaters though, he just looked too adorable, this huge man slinking around with his hands looking like mittens from how long his sleeves were.  That was the only fashion disaster I could abide.”
“At least I got to keep a couple things,” Alec laughed.
“Your body thanks me for getting rid of that, as does your slowly growing fashion sense.”
“Yes, I get it Magnus.”
“I mean the poor boy was still wearing tighty whiteys, when he looks like this and to have such ugly underwear?  I had to get something that showed off his ass and his impressive bul-”
Alec slaps a hand over Magnus’ mouth.  “I’m comfortable, but not THAT comfortable yet Magnus...”
“Whoops” Magnus says, chuckling.
They finish out the night, Izzy and Jace promising to return tomorrow at a normal hour to spend some more time getting to know there brother, for real now, and give Alec some time to rest from it all.
“I’m sorry I didn’t recognize them or I would have thought...” Magnus says when he’s laying with his head on Alec’s chest in their bed.
Alec shakes his head, fingers running through Magnus soft hair.  “It’s okay.  I’m glad it happened like this.  I doubt I could have opened up like that if they didn’t catch me with my guard down.  It’s, it’s good.  I needed this.  And I really did miss them and want them to know.  I want everyone to know how much I love you.”
Magnus smiles at that.  “I know pup, and they will, when you’re ready.”
“When I’m ready.”
“I love you Alexander.”
“Love you too Magnus.”
This Better Work Part 6
Sweet Pea X OC
Summery; Hey guys, not sure how well this is going to go but I originally put it on Wattpad so its way long, but hopefully its not horrendous. Let me know what you think! So, it follows the story line kind of, it’s not exact but I have tried and it follows my OC Ali as she navigates through the hell that is Riverdale. Whilst struggling with financial, social and romantic difficulties, she has the added pressure of keeping up with school work and bonus of being thrown into the frightening world of the criminal underground.
Side Note; None of the gifs or pictures I use are mine, I’m not talented or smart enough to even begin an attempt at making my own. Thank you to those who have such abilities and if you don’t want me using them then please let me know so I can remove them for you.
Word Count; 5,407 (Give or Take)
Tumblr media
Ali hid her bike half a mile from the tattoo parlour where Penny Peabody had set up shop. Sticking to the shadows as she crept silently towards the door. Picking the lock in seconds. Her father had taught her to pick car locks as her mum was always locking her keys inside. Ali tip toed in checking for an alarm system. But this was Southside and Serpent territory, so it was very unlikely.
Thank god for honour amongst thieves, I guess. Who'd be dumb enough to break into the snake pit? Ali thought to herself and she headed cautiously to the office at the back.
On second thought Ali, don't answer that! She chuckled when she remembered that she was probably the only person in the whole of Riverdale dumb enough to do so. She was quick to upload the virus. Making sure to infect all aspects of the computer writing the last of the code to focus on the set files. Once she was satisfied with her work, she quickly crept back to the comfort of the night air. Heaving a sigh of relief when she made it in and out without a hitch.
"OI WHAT ARE YOU DOING." A deep terrifying voice bellowed from a small huddle of bikes across the road that Ali had failed to spot.
"Premature sigh. PREMATURE SIGH!" Ali muttered to herself as her heart rate met speeds that would put her bike to shame. She didn't have much time to plan her escape as 3 ominous figures raced furiously towards her.
Well that’s just fucking great, Of COURSE it's them. Ali hissed internally to herself as the light of a street lamp hit the faces of her attackers. Revealing none other than Sweet Pea and Fangs charging head on towards her.
"Wait why am I still here!" Ali thought aloud leaping into action. Just in time to avoid a large heavy fist swinging mere millimetres from her face. She didn't have time to run from the fight. She had hesitated too long. Leaving her only one option. She was going to have to fight her way out.
She didn’t have any time to thinking before ducking from a second swing. Upper cutting Fangs before he could get another hit in. Landing a perfect jab to his diaphragm winding him instantly. Ali couldn't help but give him a sharp boot to the ribs for good measure. He had tried to hit her twice. It was only fair. One of the two Serpent boys Ali wasn't familiar with grabbed her outstretched wrist pulling her towards him.
Dumbass took the bait! Ali smirked using the momentum of his pull to heave herself up wrapping her legs under his arm and over his shoulder hurtling him head first to the concrete. Swinging herself out the way at the last moment. 1 winded, 1 knocked out.
Keep it up Ali-Cat! She thought. Dodging a fist to the jaw only to be caught in the ribs by a surprise attack from Sweet Pea. Jackass! Ali quickly gave the second Serpent boy a hard kick to the sternum sending him flying back.
However, Fangs was now recovered enough to be back on his feet. Grabbing her leg before she could bring it back to the ground. Ali felt bad for Fangs. But he left her no other choice. She was just about to push herself up to kick him with her free leg. But a large pair of hands landed heavy on her shoulders gripping them tightly. She was defenceless.
Come ON! I don't want to stab you, but I will if I must! Ali gasped exasperatedly in her head.
Ali, determined not to seriously harm her friends, quickly twisted wrapping her hands around Sweet Peas arms kicking up with all the strength she had. Kicking Fangs square in the jaw as her legs cut swiftly through the air. Making their way up over her head and landing heavily on Sweet Peas shoulders forcing him to release the hold he had on her shoulders. Fangs staggered back. His eyes rolling in their sockets before his body dropped to the ground unconscious. Ali wasted no time in throwing her upper body backwards to the ground. Her legs gripping tightly around Sweet Pea. Slamming his back hard against the concrete.
But he was a stubborn boy and could take a hit. His hands gripping Ali's arm as she scrambled to her feet, heaving her back down rolling her to her back before she had a chance to break free. But he slipped up. Missing Ali's free arm giving her just enough time to grab a knife from her holster. Moving the blade to press threateningly against his crotch as the giant straddled her. She had only recently fixed his jacket. She didn't want to be the first one to slice it again.
"You've got some explaining to do!" He snarled, his voice cracked and gravelly. He had just been smashed against the floor.
Ali lay there silently. Pushing the blade harder against the inside of his thigh in response. His eye's searching her masked face. Like he was looking for something. Waiting for the ball to drop. One hand pinning Ali's hand to the ground above her head whilst the other subtly searched her pockets. Ali was so focused on planning her escape she didn't notice him pull her lock picking kit from her breast pocket. Ali could see the realization gradually begin to surface in his eyes. She had to get out of there before he recognized her. Pulling her blade swiftly from his crotch and thrusting the handle full force into the side of his ribs. Angling the blade so the handle wedged smoothly between the ribs as she struck, winding him. Giving her the opening she needed to pull her arm from his death grip punching him hard on the side of his face.
That should be a lovely shiner you fucking tosser. You're lucky I fixed up that jacket otherwise I'd have used the other side of the knife. Bean Pole! Ali huffed leaping to her feet and launching into the race of her life. If she could make it to her bike before Sweet Pea came too, she'd be in the clear! Her feet pounded hard against the ground. Legs blazing and lungs close to bursting as she whipped around the corner. Frog leaping onto her bike throwing on her helmet and taking off in one clean swoop. She tore down the street not wanting to look back. Afraid of what she might see. Her heart was still racing when she crossed the border. Only settling when her bike was safely snuggled in its little shed, with her back in the confines of her home.
"You've got a split lip Ali. Did you walk into something or were you spotted?" Rosie asked the next morning when Ali made her way groggily over to the kitchen island. Her body sore and stiff from all the galivanting of the night.
"Car part dropped as I was fitting it. But yes there was a minor hitch in an otherwise smooth mission." Ali groaned, already practicing her excuse so she wouldn't raise suspicions if she was asked about it. "Poor Fangs. He didn't deserve that last night. We should make cookies or something for him."
"Because nothing says innocent like a guilt basket!" Rosie retorted sarcastically handing her worn out daughter a large mug of steaming hot tea and a full English breakfast.
"You're right. We need a Trojan horse." Ali pondered. The two girls faces lit up into a wickedly innocent smile as Izzy skipped into the kitchen. Freezing when she spotted the concerning glares her mother and big sister were giving her.
"Whatever it is I want no part of it. That look never brings anything good!" Izzy declared edging cautiously to her seat beside her sister.
"Isabelle. My darling dearest little sister." Ali started, her voice sweeter than sugar.
"How would you feel about a sparring session with Sami? We could bring cookies and train this afternoon. I'll teach you any move you like!" Ali offered batting her eyelashes pleadingly. Izzy had to fight the urge to leap in the air in celebration. Instead opting to play it cool even if it went against every fibre of her being.
"Since you asked so nicely. I guess it wouldn't hurt to fit in some extra practice." Izzy agreed calmly. Play it cool Izz. Play it cool. She thought fighting the grin that was tugging ferociously at her lips. It was no use. Less than a second after she had spoken her face was set alight by the happiest grin ever seen. Way to play it cool Isabelle!
"Hey Mamma Fogarty. We were just wondering if Sami was up for a sparring session? Ali promised to teach us some of her moves since we did so well with our science project!" Izzy asked politely. Handing the tall, dark skinned woman a large box of cookies.
"You my dear, have perfect timing. They're just round the back sparring now." Mamma Fogarty smiled pointing the girls in the direction of their friends. "He does this every time he gets into a scuffle."
"Thank you Mamma Fogarty. Enjoy the cookies!" The girls called jogging around the corner to find Sami trapped in a headlock with Fangs ruffling up her already frizzy hair.
"SWEEP HIS KNEE AND SLAM INTO HIS SIDE TO KNOCK HIM OVER!" Ali instructed. Laughing at the panicked expression that flicked over Fangs' face as he crashed into the long grass beneath him.
"Nice job kiddo. That'll teach him for messing with the hair!" Ali grinned coming to a halt beside Fangs. Looking down and waving sarcastically down at him.
"You're such an ass sometimes Ali. Did you know that?" Fangs mocked grabbing the back of her knees and heaving them towards him sending Ali toppling over. Pulling a nervous squeak from her as she landed heavily beside him.
"Ali said she's going to teach us some of her special moves. Want to join?" Izzy grinned re-plaiting Sam's wild, untameable hair.
"Oh cool! Can you teach us the arm swing thing? The one where you grab their arm and pull yourself to wrap around their shoulder? Can we learn that one?" Sam asked eagerly, an enthusiastic beaming glow flooding her face.
"If Fangs is up for helping then hell yes. It's one of my favourites!" Ali winked helping Fangs to his feet. The boy sighed heavily but nodded in agreement. A dark bruise already making its presence on his face known from the spot Ali had kicked him the night before. Sorry Fangs! Ali thought getting a clear view of the full extent of his injuries.
"You sure you're up for it, you look like shit!" Ali remarked as they got into position.
"Shut up Ali. I look like shit 'cos I got in a fight last night. You just look like shit!" He quipped with a cheeky grin. "At least I have an excuse!"
"Fuck you Fangs. I was going to go easy on you. But now you're just asking to get your ass whooped!" Ali defended playfully. Unaware of the extra pair of eyes observing from the cover of the surrounding trees.
Tumblr media
Izzy and Sam watched eagerly as Ali took them step by step through the move. Allowing them to practice on her first so she could give them the necessary pointers before they practiced on Fangs. For someone who'd had recently had his ass kicked he showed no signs of weakness. If anything, it looked like he was enjoying the extra practice. Even getting to practice the move and try out a few counter-moves on Ali.
The girls had just finished perfecting their third new move when the figure that had been watching from the shadows decided to come forwards into the light.
"This looks like fun. Mind if I join in?" The voice called gruffly.
"SWEET PEA!" Izzy cheered running over to throw her arms around his waist in a hug.
"Of course you can! The more the merrier!" She beamed skipping back alongside him, making his face crack into the smallest of smiles.
"Can I try out the new moves Ali taught me on you?"
"Sure kid. Let's see what you've got!" Sweet Pea agreed. Bracing himself ready to be thrown, pushed and pulled to the ground. Grunting and groaning with each landing and giving the little girl pointers where possible.
"Hey, now that Sweet Pea's here you can show us how to defend against two opponents." Sam piped up, looking hopefully up at the older trio stood in front of her. Fangs shrugged, nodding in agreement turning to Sweet Pea awaiting his answer.
"I'm up for it if Ali is. We're all friends here." Sweet Pea paused turning to Ali, a knowing look in his eye.
"Aren't we Ali?" He finished, twitching an eyebrow at her daringly.
"Yeah sure, why not?" Ali smiled nodding in agreement.
"What could possibly go wrong!" She muttered sarcastically under her breath moving into position, ready to be attacked by the two boys for the second time in less than 24 hours. This time it was Sweet Pea to make the first move. Lunging forward to sweep her leg. Ali jumped out the way just in time. Grabbing his arm and using it to pull herself up to wrap around his chest trapping his arm between her powerful legs. Twisting herself to the side using her body weight to hurl the giant into his friend knocking the pair down like a set of bowling pins.
"That was awesome!" The two girls cheered giving the boys and Ali a round of applause as they got to their feet.
"Could've done with this yesterday huh Sweet Pea." Fangs joked helping Sam perfect her stance and hold on Ali.
"Took the words right out my mouth." Sweet Pea muttered scowling suspiciously at Ali.
This was a bad idea. This was a very bad idea! Ali cringed.
"What happened yesterday?" Sam asked curiously, helping Ali back to her feet ready for Izzy's turn. Ali felt the question slam into her like a bus. This couldn't get any worse.
"Caught someone breaking into serpent territory late last night and got our ass kicked by crazy Ninja moves like these." Fangs sighed defeatedly, the disgust of his defeat evident in his voice.
"Reckon they just got lucky." Sweet Pea baited glancing slyly over at Ali, registering the eye roll she gave his comment.
"I don't know Bean Pole. They certainly managed to give you a rather nasty black eye." She replied flicking her eyes over the deep purple bruise spreading over his eye. Her gaze breaking as she hurtled towards Fangs by Izzy's forceful swing. Ali coughed a little as she sat up feeling slightly winded, accepting the hand being offered to her. Regretting it almost immediately when Sweet Pea heaved her up pulling her uncomfortably close to him as he leant to whisper in her ear. Placing something in her hand.
"You've got some explaining to do!" He whispered glancing down to the silver writing embossed on the pale blue lock picking kit in her hand that read 'H.M'. Ali swallowed hard in a desperate attempt to drown the panic that had risen in her throat. It just got worse.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Ali replied casually. Stepping back smiling her signature smile and moving ready to teach the girls another move. The group spent the next few hours practicing moves and counter moves. With Sweet Pea keeping a very close eye on Ali.
"Ok, if you boys don't say it I will." Ali panted lying on her back in the long grass. Her cheeks flushed and head sweaty. "I'm absolutely shattered. Everything hurts and if I don't eat something soon, I'm afraid I'll eat Fangs." Ali half joked as her stomach gave a low grumble, making the team chuckle.
"Hey why me? Why not Sweet Pea? He's much bigger than me!" Fangs questioned sounding rather hurt by her suggestion, turning on his side to face his exhausted friend.
"Sweet Peas are poisonous. I'm starving not stupid. Sorry Fangs." Ali replied sympathetically before looking him over and licking her lips mockingly.
"Right Pop's it is. We can take the truck. Ali you can catch a lift with the poisonous plant. I don't feel safe being in a confined space with you right now." Fangs laughed rising to his feet and fetching his jacket and keys from the pile by the trailer.
Tumblr media
"Come on Ali, the sooner you eat the better. You look like hell." Sweet Pea teased offering her a hand up. Scowling when she slapped his hand away.
"Last time you did that it was a trap!" Ali scorned struggling to pull her lifeless limbs into action.
"Just take the help Ali. It's becoming painful to watch." Sweet Pea coaxed smirking at her repeated failed attempts of standing. Ali huffed but took his hand only to heave him to the ground. Smiling smugly at his unamused expression.
"There, now you don't have to watch!" Ali chirped happily, rolling onto her hands and knees so she could scramble up leaving Sweet Pea in the grass. "I'll leave you here if you want."
"Oh yeah and how are you going to leave when I have your keys?" Sweet Pea asked smugly. Jingling a set of keys with a bright blue letter A hanging from them. Ali’s eyes squinting irritably for a second. Quickly returning to its previous proudly smug expression, throwing Sweet Pea completely.
"Simple," Ali chimed smugly. "I'll take yours!" She grinned waving his own set of keys back at him.
"You're dead!" He growled playfully, leaping to his feet and grabbing Ali's waist before she could make a run for it. Throwing her over his shoulder and swiping the keys from her hand.
"Did you just squeak like a mouse? Ali-Cat, more like Field Mouse!" Sweet Pea scoffed carrying her over to his trailer where his bike was parked.
"I'll dig my claws in if you carry on insulting me like that!" Ali threatened playfully. Trying to wiggle her way out of his grip.
"Oh no you don't. Not after that comment. You can stay there and think about what you've said!" Sweet Pea scolded slapping her ass hard as he spoke. Smirking when she squeaked at the contact.
"That's fine I've got something to keep me occupied anyway." Ali teased resting her head in her hands to stare at his ass.
"Harley Masters, are you staring at my ass?" Sweet Pea inquired playfully. Waving to Jughead who was watching in confusion as they passed his trailer. Ali's eyes flew wide open and her heart rate increased tenfold at her full name. How did he know. She immediately began trying to swing out of his hold. But he had her in a firm, unbreakable grip.
"How the-? What in the Hell did you just say?!" Ali demanded. Her brows knitted into a furious blend of panic and confusion.
"You heard!" Sweet Pea replied smugly placing her on the back of his bike and handing her his spare helmet.
"Izzy told me all about your nickname. About how it took you ages before you could pronounce your R's properly. How you used to say Haly instead of Harley." Sweet Pea teased putting his helmet on.
"That's what you meant earlier." Ali exclaimed. "You seriously confused me!"
"Ali what are you talking about?" Sweet Pea asked frowning.
"When you said I had some explaining to do..." Ali trailed off, avoiding Sweet Pea's leg as he swung himself on in front of her.
"Oh that. I already know what the H.M stands for. What I don't know is why you broke into Peabody's place. Hold on tight!" He called not giving Ali a chance to reply. Speeding off just as she wrapped her arms around his waist. The feeling of her hands clinging to his shirt made it very hard to concentrate as he whipped and weaved his way to Pops. Ali's mind to busy racing with an endless list of possibilities to notice what she was doing to him. What does this mean? Are Mum and Izzy going to get beaten up? Killed? Did he tell her? How did he know? What have I done? Why am I still on his bike? She felt like her mind was about to explode.
Tumblr media
By the time they arrived at Pops she was in full panic mode. Pulling off her helmet to reveal her bloodless face. Panic overwhelming her eyes. Sweet Peas eyes widened when he saw the fear coursing through her body sending her into small scale convulsions. Making her very uneasy on her feet when she climbed gingerly off his bike. Her centre of balance was so uneasy, he had to catch her before she fell over. Helping her back over to lean on his bike for support.
"Ali relax I'm not going to say anything. I just want to know why. Nothings going to happen. Hell, I'm even willing to look past the fact that you pulled a knife on me." He comforted rubbing her back and pulling her into a gentle hug.
"You sure you're not going to tell Penny?" Ali asked tentatively. She wasn't so worried for herself they could do what they wanted with her. As long as they left her family out of it.
"And you're not mad about the knife?" She looked up hesitantly up feeling ridiculously pathetic.
"The knife? No that was just self defence. The black eye however... that, I'm going to be coming back too." He joked stroking her hair, looking deep into her puppy eye's. Feeling his heart melt with every second she was with him. Ali scowled giving him a playful shove and standing up straight again.
"I found out what she was making my Uncle do and we can't afford to get caught up in anything. So I figured if she didn't have anything on him then she couldn't black mail him anymore." Ali explained, technically she hadn't lied. Just not told the whole truth.
"And you thought that was the night to do it?" He asked as they made their way into Pops. Smiling at the familiar ring of the bell as they entered.
"Look who finally decided to show up!" Fangs called dramatically as the pair joined the group at the booth in the far corner.
"I've been stuck listening to reruns of how I got my ass kicked yesterday. And this morning!" Fangs scowled crossing his arms and turning his nose away like a drama queen.
"Man up Fangs! You're turning into a Northsider. Got your ass kicked twice in less than 24 hours and now your acting like a spoilt brat. Carry on like this and you'll be joining Ali for cheerleading practice!" Sweet Pea sassed slumping down beside his best friend.
"Ouch Sweet Pea. Even I felt the sting on that." Ali exclaimed smiling at Pops when he handed the group their milkshakes.
"You were supposed to. Cheerleaders are just preppy little bitches. It's pathetic really. All you do is bounce around grinning all the time." Sweet Pea mocked with a smirk.
"Oh yeah. I'd like to see you throw a human being in the air and catch them without damaging them, yourself and looking amazing whilst doing all that." Ali defended raising a daring eyebrow at the Serpent.
"Thank you, Izzy, for ordering for us. It was very nice of you." She smiled turning to her little sister who was watching intently whilst she slurped her chocolate milkshake.
"No worries, but how did you know it was me?" She questioned.
"You're the only one crazy enough to tolerate spending enough time with these clowns to know their order." Sam and Fangs elaborated in chorus before bursting into hysterics at their perfect sync.
"What can I say?" Izzy shrugged nonchalantly. A playful twinkle beaming in her eyes.
"I've got clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. Here I am. Stuck in the middle of you!" She sang motioning either side of her to the rest of the group making everyone laugh and Ali choke on her drink. The group watched in frozen horror for moment as Ali battled against the desperate force trying to spit her drink. But after a moment struggle, she swallowed the drink with ease.
"At least now we know Ali doesn’t spit she swallows." Fangs commented nonchalantly sending everyone into another fit of giggles.
Pops placed their order on the table once they had all calmed down. Giving Ali and Sweet Pea a knowing glance before handing Izzy a 10-dollar bill.
"What was that?" Ali asked suspiciously before taking a large bite of her burger. Her gaze fixed on her little sister as she tucked the money into the arm pocket of her jacket.
"Nothing just tip money." She shrugged innocently. But Ali knew there was something else going on. She was her sister after all.
"Uh huh sure it is." Ali nodded sarcastically before several waving hands caught her eye distracting her. Sweet Pea saw the focus completely disappear from her face the second the waving hands caught her attention and couldn't help but laugh.
"Is she always like this?" He asked watching as she ushered the group over to the table.
"Like what?" Izzy questioned through a mouthful of cheese burger.
"Easily distracted." He elaborated before scowling at Ali as she shuffled him over to the wall so Jughead, Betty and Cheryl could join.
"Only when she’s trying to ignore something at the back of her mind." Izzy replied truthfully. She knew exactly what was playing on Ali's mind. The only problem? Ali didn't.
The group spent the rest of the evening debating over the black hood and enjoying milkshakes, cheesy bites and fries. Ignoring the lingering unanswered questions and looming cloud of doom making its way closer and closer to their side of town.
Tumblr media
"You'll never guess what's happened!" Cheryl exclaimed the second Ali took her seat in Chemistry making her jump a little.
"Oh god! What happened? Did Archie do another stupid thing again?" Ali moaned with a heavy sigh, unaware of the person sat behind them.
"Hey! What did I do to you?!" Archie gasped throwing a ball of paper at her head in mock offense.
"OUCH!" Ali cried sarcastically. A smirk spreading across her red lips as she threw it back.
"Sorry Arch but you have been a dumb ass lately." Ali replied before turning back to Cheryl who looked as if she was about to burst.
"Southside High got shut down so now the scumbag Snakes are being sent here!" She raged making several students jump at her sudden outburst. The thought of the serpents coming to Riverdale High sent butterflies to her stomach and she couldn't figure out why. Some of them were her friends sure but that wouldn't cause this surely? Cheryl's continuous bitching pulled Ali from her daze.
"Chill Cheryl, they aren't that bad. You got along with Fangs and Sweet Pea sort of. Ali grimaced a little at her words and the memory of Cheryl hanging out with her and the Serpents at Pops. Everything is going to be fine." Ali reassured her but she knew that come the next day, it would all go sideways. Chaos would rain down on them all.
Cheryl spent the rest of the day whining about the Serpents and how they were going to ruin the school. It was after all, a sanctuary from her home life.
"Oh God. Why do you like the cat that ate the canary?" Ali groaned when she walked into the girls changing room. Only to discover the Vixens already in gear and rallied with Cheryl who was looking very pleased with herself.
"Because my dear Ali-Cat, me and Reggie have come up with a solution to our little dilemma." Cheryl chirped before heading out with the rest of the cheerleading squad in quick procession.
"Oh, dear god! Of all people why Reggie?" Ali whined as she quickly threw on her cheerleading uniform. Chasing after the team of preppy teens about to pick a fight with the biggest gang in town as soon as she was dressed.
"Too late." Ali huffed as she darted down the corridor to where Cheryl and Toni were standing toe to toe. She was just about to jump in to defend the Southsiders. To at least give them a chance but Principle Wetherbee beat her too it. Cheryl and Reggie lead their crowd of puppets away whilst Jughead led the Southsiders down the corridor to the common room, passing Ali as they went.
"I told you when it came down to it, she was a Northsider." Sweet Pea muttered to Fangs as they passed her. His eyes scanning her uniform as they passed.
That rat bastard! The little git thinks I'm siding with Cheryl! Ali gasped internally, watching as they disappeared around the corner.
It didn't take long for Ali to find an opportunity to redeem herself in the eyes of the Serpents. She was sat in the cafeteria talking to Varchie and Bughead about the happenings over the holidays. Laughing at the awful puns Jughead kept adding in. He seemed to be happy for the first time in a while and Ali hoped this would last forever. Queue Reggie and his team of meat heads.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" He snarled as the Bulldogs slowly surrounded the leather bound, snake tatted table.
"This can't be anything good." Ali grumbled before standing up and strolling casually over to the table. Watching as Sweet Pea's jaw clenched, his fists balled up to the point where his knuckles were turning white.
"Back off mutt. We don't want your fleas." Sweet Pea snarled squaring up to Reggie. His gaze stone cold as he stared down the preppy jock.
"Really Reginald? This is what you do with your spare time? Pick fights with poisonous flowers?" Ali sighed looking very unamused as she pushed herself between the two testosterone fuelled boys.
"Stand down Mantle the Magnificent before you become Mantle the Mauled to death." She warned feeling rather annoyed at his arrogance.
"And you can wipe the smug grin off your face too Sweet Pea. Picking a fight on the first day isn't a very clever start is it?" Ali called him out without even needing to turn around to see his smug expression. His heart was racing faster than he thought possible and he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Sorry Princess did we disrupt your fine dining?" Sweet Pea quipped giving her a smirk and a wink as he sat back down in his chair. He could never pass up the opportunity to tease her. Ali rolled her eyes at his silly little remark and turned to leave. But just as she was about to, a large warm hand wrapped around her wrist pulling her backwards.
"You look good in that uniform you should wear it more often." Sweet Pea whispered, his lips brushing her ear as he spoke flooding her body with butterflies. His hand was warm against her skin and she could feel the heat radiating off his muscular body. He released her hand allowing her to stand up straight. Only to grab her hands and pull her closer again.
"Ali you're freezing." He claimed his voice filled with genuine concern as he searched her eyes. She smiled her usual bright smile shaking her head with a light chuckle.
"Pea I'm always like this. You're just freakishly warm." Ali smiled pulling her hands away and turning to walk back to her table. As for the uniform My eyes are up here, so keep them there. She warned playfully pointing to her smoky eye shadow and bright blue eyes.
"Wait!" Sweet Pea instructed stopping her in her tracks. She turned around slowly to see why he had stopped her from going back to her friends again.
"You're going to freeze to death, and I need you to do a paint job on my bike later. This should keep you warm." Sweet Pea stated pulling a large black hoodie from his bag and handing it to Ali. Who only put it on after a stern raise of his eyebrow.
With a reluctant huff she made her way back to her table. Who does this kid think he is? I don't need his charity.
Merry Christmas, @killiarious!
Read on AO3
*****
Selamat Natal
It was three days before Christmas, and Alec reached for the phone, if he was going to pull off this surprise he needed to enlist help. It only rang a couple times before a cheerful voice greeted him. “What’s up hermano?” Alec decided it best to be courteous before asking for favors. “How’s the Head of the New York Institute and the best little sister ever?”
The snort he got back across the line wasn’t polite at all. “She is fine, also your only sister, and what do you want Alec?” Izzy responded.
“Is that anyway to greet your Inquisitor?” He teased.
“It is when he calls me for favors and not official business,” was her smart ass response.
Alec glanced to make sure his office door was closed before continuing. “Point,” he admitted. “I need your help Izzy with Magnus’ Christmas gifts.”
The outrage that rang in his ear had him holding his phone away, but it didn’t impede her loud exclamation. “What by the Angel is wrong with the locket? Do you know how long I worked on that?”
Alec was quick with his response; he knew he’d better be to ward off a furious little sister. “No! No Izzy’s its perfect, absolutely amazing.” Alec had commissioned his sister to create a locket for Magnus out of pure adamas. One side bore an engraving of the wedded rune while the other a photo of them on their wedding day. Alec knew once he put on the locket, he would glow a vivid red, a color that Alec loved Magnus in. Izzy had spent weeks crafting the gift and the chain that carried it.
Letting out a sigh, Alec explained. “No Izzy really it’s perfect but it’s our first Christmas as husbands and I want to make it truly special so there are a could other things I want to do, preparation wise for the night.” The sigh he got from a long suffering sister told him he won; romantic shit got her ever time.
 “What do you need big brother?” Alec grinned and told her his plan. After getting Izzy on board, Alec’s next call was to Catarina. That to took some fast talking and lots of sharing of his feelings which resulted in him being laughed out rather loudly over the phone but in the end, Cat was also on board. Lat call he dreaded, not because of the possibility of more amusement at his expense, but more for what he might costs him. Lorenzo Rey answered right away, and once more Alec began his speech. Maybe he owed Andrew a really nice Christmas gift because Rey had definitely mellowed, he agreed to asset Alec and he didn’t cost him anything other than dinner the next time in New York, further proof in Alec’s mind that nothing beat the loving from a good man.
Day One of the plan:
The large box sat innocently in their living room and Alec, lips still buzzing with Magnus’ goodbye kiss as he left to help Izzy with the wards in New York, prepared for operation Magnus Christmas. On his knees, Alec wrestled with all the packing tape wrapping the large box, he really hated this stuff and they always used too much. When normal mundane strength proved inadequate, Alec used Shadowhunter strength and ripped the box open. Falling back onto his ass, Alec coughed and waved his hands frantically, but it was no use, chicken feathers went everywhere! Red and white feathers now covered every inch of their living room, and Alec head to toe. Okay he thought, day one was getting off to a rough start, but it would get better, hopefully!
At the end of the day, Alec greeted Magnus with a smile, drink, and kiss, not necessarily in that order. He listened like any good husband would to Magnus bitch about foolish Shadowhunters who questioned his, Magnus Lightwood-Bane’s, wards! Alec also successfully deflected Magnus’ questioning of why there were feathers in their home. Point goes to Alec!
Day Two of the plan:
Magnus left this day in a much better mood, and Alec exhausted, but he was happy that his husband could so enjoy taking his frustrations out on Alec in such a mutually pleasant fashion. Moving to the kitchen once Magnus’ portal closed, Alec pulled out the recipe, he had to admit this one had him a little worried, cooking and Lightwood’s was not a good match. Squaring his shoulders with determination, Alec pulled out butter, and pineapple. Two full dishwasher loads later and Alec eyed the innocent little demon creations lying on the counter. He was convinced the things were possessed, despite following the recipe to the letter it took ten batches before they resembled anything like the picture. Letting them cool, Alec carefully boxed them up and hid them away.
When Magnus raised brow at the sight of his husband who had the day off, lying on the couch covered in some mystery substances, he only asked. “Does this mean no round two tonight?” Alec used the age old excuse that spouses everywhere had perfected. “Sorry honey, I have a headache.”  He ignored Magnus’ comments about the honeymoon being over.
Day Three of the Plan, and oh Christmas Day!
To say Magnus’ mood was dark as he once more prepared to leave for New York would be like saying Edom was only a little warm. Maybe Alec shouldn’t have slotted Lorenzo for the last day?  They had spent Christmas Eve with the family, Alec having requested to spend his first Christmas with Magnus alone. With Cat’s help Alec had her portal in all Magnus’ favorite dishes for dinner; he just had to finish the decorations. With a sudden burst of energy, Alec got to work.
Many sweaty hours later and Alec stepped back to survey his work. Their apartment looked stunning decorated in the sacred colors of Indonesia, the red and white truly looking holidays. He’d pulled out the tree, set the table, and draped their balcony with red and white silk banners, candles were on every surface and for dessert, and Alec had arranged fireworks. Sighing with satisfaction, Alec took himself off to shower and dress.
Looking at the time, he hurried to plug in the tree and light all the candles, placing the red box holding Magnus’ gift under the tree, Alec turned towards the sound of Magnus’ portal opening up. Magnus looked tired but his eyes lit up as they always did at the sight of Alec. He watched as Magnus’ eyes moved around the room, the golden color sparkling as he took in the efforts Alec had made. Alec had wanted to bring some of Magnus’ culture and history into their first Christmas and had spent hours pouring over websites to find little traditions of Magnus’ birth place to bring into their celebration. He was rewarded when Magnus’ eyes returned to Alec and they were shinning with tears gathered in them.
Moving quickly, Alec gathered Magnus into his arms and pressed a light kiss to his lips before hugging him tightly. “Selamat Natal,” he whispered in Magnus’ ear, hoping he got the pronunciation right.
“Alexander,” Magnus whispered, holding Alec just as tightly, “Merry Christmas to you as well.”
Puling back with a huge smile, Alec grasped Magnus’ hand and led him to the table. Pulling out his husband’s chair, Alec served Magnus, pouring him a glass of champagne and removing the domes from their dinner.
Looking at Alec suspiciously, Magnus took a sip champagne. “Is this why I have been so busy the last three days, Alexander?”
At Alec’s sheepish nod, Magnus hummed in approval “You’re a lot slyer than I thought Alexander. I’ll have to keep my eye on you in the future, but did you have to involve Rey of all people?”
Alec promised to never mention this to Lorenzo again. After dinner, Magnus toured Alec’s work. Stopping at the tree, he gently stroked the tree. “Is this a chicken feather tree Alexander?” he whispered in awe.
Moving to stand next to Magnus, Alec replied, “Yes, I read that it’s a very old tradition to make a Christmas tree out of chicken feathers. Did you do this as a child?”
Magnus wiped his eyes. His voice was low, and tender. “I do remember something like this from when I was a small child, just a hazy memory but I think yes, we did this once.”
Alec wrapped his arms around Magnus. Hoping to induce a little cheer, he nudged Magnus. “Look, seems like there is something under it and I believe it bears your name.”
Magnus laughed and snapped his fingers, another decorated box joining Alec’s gift under the tree. “And I believe that open says Alexander.”
Pulling Magnus down to sit in front of the tree, just like he had done as a child, Alec handed Magnus his present. “Open it,” he requested.
However, Magnus reached over for Alec’s gift first and placed it in Alec’s lap. “You first Alexander, you have already done all this, I want you to open first please.”
Alec carefully took the heavy package. Peeling of the gold wrapping paper, Alec uncovered a long rectangular box, the shine immediately capturing the lights from the tree and casting dancing spots of light across Alec’s face. The box was made of wood, but a wood Alec had never seen or felt before. He ran a hand across the silky surface. “This is stunning Magnus,” he whispered.
Magnus smiled and urged him on. “The rest of the gift is inside, open it Alexander.”
Alec obeyed and let out a gasp. Inside the box was a bow, but a bow like this one had never been created before.  Made from the same wood as the box it came in, the texture was gleaming like rare jewels, and touching it felt like gliding your hand through warm water. Etched in careful detail was runes, and some symbols Alec did not recognize, tracing a finger over them, Alec looked at Magnus in awe.
The smile Magnus wore was the same one he wore when they became one. “The wood is called Dalbergia, and it can only be found in India. It’s the rarest and most expensive in the world. The symbols beside your runes are protections I created. This bow will answer only to you Alexander and if it taken or lost will find its way back to its only owner, you.”
Alec could barely get the sound of his husbands name past his lips, and he gave up trying to blink the moisture from his eyes. He could only sit his gift carefully aside and wrap himself around Magnus, holding on until his world settled. The whispered ‘thank you,’ into Magnus skin seemed so little compare to the gift, but Alec hoped Magnus could hear in his voice how much he treasured it. Pulling reluctantly away, he reached over and placed the small gift into Magnus’ hands. “Now you,” he said.
There would never come a day when Alec did not believe that Magnus’ cat eyes were the most beautiful things he had ever seen. Now, as Magnus looked at him, glamour gone with cat eyes full of tears and joy, Alec didn’t think a heart could be this full. He reached for the delicate locket and careful hooked it around Magnus’ neck. Just as he had imagined the precious metal glowed a brilliant red. There were no more words for a while; they wouldn’t have been enough, so instead they just held each other under their tree of chicken feathers.
Later, Alec would serve Magnus the Naster cookies he had made. Magnus exclaiming over the taste and that yes they did come out excellent. The traditional butter and pineapple jam cookies had been a favorite of Magnus’ from childhood. Before they adjourned to the balcony, Alec through a great deal of laughter conducted the tradition of mandi and painted their faces with little white stars.
All of Idris was treated to a Christmas firework display, but the recipient of the grand display did not see a thing. The red and white silk drapes of their balcony hid the entwined bodies as they shared a different sort of Christmas fireworks.
Merry Christmas
fic: hearteyes, motherfucker (malec; pg)
The experiment recounted in this fic really took place. The idea behind it was to see if strangers can fall in love, starting from the premise that mutual vulnerability fosters closeness.
Written for the 3B Countdown Calendar.
If Magnus hasn't been able to find true love after twenty years of hit and miss, surely a scientific experiment won't change that. Who does still believe in love at first sight anyway?
Tumblr media
   It’s not until the very last second that a flutter of nerves sends Magnus’ pulse tripping. Something in his chest clenches with a flash of panic. What if this changes everything? But then the door opens and all Magnus can do is step into the unknown.
Whatever he expected from a room in which a scientific experiment is about to take place, this isn’t it.
Magnus expected miles of cables and neon light glinting off a wall of monitors, the noisy whirr of computers and cameras following his every move with their red blinking lights. Either this project is grossly underfunded, or Magnus watches too many Sci-Fi movies. The room is austere, empty except for two lamps, a table with a tape recorder, and two chairs. The soft, clean white of the walls is soothing Magnus’ nerves.
It’s just talking. Magnus is an exceptional and (so he’s been told) charming conversationalist even on a bad day. He can answer a bunch of questions, even if he thinks the research topic is pointless.
Strangers don’t fall in love. In lust, yes, Magnus has done that plenty of times. But not love. Most people can’t even tell the difference and end up hurt and disappointed. Magnus wishes he could claim that he isn’t one of them.
Lust—yes. Oh god, yes. Magnus’ stomach drops when the door on the other side of the room opens, and out steps the most gorgeous man Magnus has seen in—ever.
The meaning of tall, dark, and handsome shifts in Magnus’ mind, sudden and irrevocably, forever reshaped to bear this strangers’ face. Something twists in his chest and spreads through his veins, sharp and hot like fire. Magnus recognizes the first spark of interest, so vivid he’s instantly swept away by images of short, dark strands of hair slipping through his fingers and generous lips sliding against his own.
As instructed they sit down at the table, facing each other. “I’m Magnus.” Magnus extends his hand, pleased when the man doesn’t hesitate to shake it. His handshake is warm and firm, his palm a little damp. Nerves. At least Magnus isn’t the only one.
“Alec. Hi!” Alec’s smile is small but it reaches his eyes. It’s impossible to mistake the glittering in them for anything but blatant interest that matches Magnus’ own. Pity. It seems this experiment is ruined before it even started.
Their introductions are brief. They both live in New York, and Magnus learns that Alec is a homicide detective with the NYPD. It surprises Magnus, but that is probably more because the detectives in the late-night reruns rarely look like they stepped out of a high gloss magazine. Magnus supposes they both don’t quite fit the mold; people rarely associate a professor in anthropology with the crisp, navy winged eyeliner he took great care to apply this morning.
“Well then, I believe we have some questions waiting for us,” Magnus says, finding himself a lot more eager to get this thing started than ten minutes ago. “Ready to bare your soul?”
Alec’s dry snort tells Magnus that he isn’t the only one that didn’t come here of his own volition.
As much as Magnus loves his friends, their meddling with his love life is a constant point of irritation and has led to more than one embarrassing situation. And yet, here Magnus is again because his best friend signed him up for this experiment. Cat conveniently forgot to tell him before it was too late to drop out, counting on his reluctance to be unnecessarily rude. Sometimes having friends that know him so well sucks.
“You go first.” Alec pushes the stack of small cards in the middle of the table towards Magnus gingerly, almost as if he’s trying to convince it to be gentle.
“I imagine this is quite different from what you’re used to.” Magnus winks, making it clear that he’s just teasing.
He needn’t have worried that maybe his joke fell flat. Alec barks out a low laugh, looking positively delighted. “Yeah, I’m usually on the other side of the table. Maybe I’ll learn a new trick or two. Mix things up a little with the perps.”
“It will be my pleasure to help you out with new experiences,” Magnus says and picks up the first card from the stack, not at all charmed by the way the corners of Alec’s mouth lift at the corners. Attraction, nothing more. “When did you last sing to yourself?” He reads the neat print on the card out loud, laying it down on the table between them. Magnus hesitates for a second, but Alec picks up on it. Of course it would be Magnus’ luck to be partnered up with a real-life detective who's not only a trained interrogator but most likely versed in reading even small nuances of body language.
“Now I’m curious,” Alec says, picking up the card and twirling it between his fingers before he lays it down, tapping it thoughtfully. They’re nice fingers, long and strong with perfectly manicured nails. Magnus can’t help but mirror the motion, keeping his fingers just barely from touching Alec’s.
“Actually, I sang to myself on my way here. An old lullaby my mother sang to me when I was little. After all these years it still soothes me when I’m nervous or upset.”
“You were upset when you came here?”
Any reservations Magnus might have had about sharing something so personal vanish into thin air the moment Alec’s eyes soften and he covers Magnus’ hand, squeezing lightly. Magnus barely knows this man, but everything about Alec screams sincerity, makes him feel safe and appreciated.
“Nervous,” Magnus admits, swallowing around the sudden tightness in his throat. “I could have been paired up with a yeti.”
“Who said that you weren’t?” Alec grins and lets go of Magnus’ hand with a parting squeeze. “My sister always tells me that I look like a caveman when I haven’t shaved for two days after a double shift.”
“As an anthropologist, cavemen are somewhat of a specialty of mine. They’re quite fascinating. Broad chest, lots of hair and testosterone.” As soon as the words tumble from his mouth, Magnus holds his breath. He’s a master of innuendo, and even if he doesn’t try, something not entirely appropriate often slips out at the most inopportune circumstances. Like an actual scientific experiment. Oh well, it’s not as if he’s invested in the outcome, no matter how alluring the company.
“Good. That’s good.”
That’s all Alec has to say on the matter, not bothered in the slightest as he reaches for the next card, navigating the slightly awkward situation with remarkable aplomb. But then, terrible puns probably don’t even register as a blip on the radar in a seasoned cop’s daily routine.
“Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would be your ideal dinner guest?” Alec reads, his brows drawing together as he places the card on top of the one Magnus just answered. “What does that even mean? An ideal guest is somebody who doesn’t complain about the food even if the vegetables are soggy and helps with the dishes, but I guess that’s not what this means.”
A barrel of emotions flickers over Alec’s expressive features, none of which Magnus can read. Alec casts him a long look. This time it’s him who’s trying to decide if he can trust Magnus.
“Hey, it’s okay if you don’t want to say more. You already answered the question. Nothing says you need to give a name.”
“No, it’s not—I just don’t think about people I don’t know, not in that theoretical way the question suggests. I like to think about the people I know and care for. I’ve got my work cut out with that.” Alec laughs a little and shrugs, leaning back in his chair. “That sounds way deeper than it is. It’s just a stupid question. I don’t know everyone in the world, so how would I know if they’re an ideal dinner guest?”
Alec is a grown man, but frowning over a question he deems pointless he looks so much like a disgruntled cat that Magnus bursts out laughing. Most people would have chosen an artist or a politician to surround themselves with an air of sophistication, but Detective Lightwood disputes the question. It’s such a different viewpoint from Magnus’ own who thinks about strangers for professional reasons and out of curiosity all day long, but presented so calm and matter of fact that Magnus wonders how he didn’t see any fault with the question himself. It’s been a long time since Magnus was this intrigued with somebody outside his line of work.
“Tell me who you’d like to have dinner with, then,” Magnus prompts, not quite ready to move on. “Out of all the people you know.”
“My brother Jace.” Alec’s answer comes without hesitation, his mouth and eyes softening with fondness. Magnus doesn’t have siblings, but if he had he hopes they’d look at him like this. “He’s a terrible dinner guest, always helps himself first and takes the biggest steak. Always finds a reason to duck out of helping with the clean-up. It’s been like that since we were kids, but in return he doesn’t complain about my cooking and pretends he actually likes it.” Alec grins, looking at Magnus from beneath his lashes as if he’s confessing a secret, and Magnus finds himself drawn in and leaning close eagerly. “We always tease our sister Izzy about her abysmal cooking skills, but the truth is that I’m not that much better.”
“That sounds lovely. Seems like dinner with your siblings is quite an entertaining affair.”
“They used to be.” Something akin to wistfulness settles over Alec, dimming his smile like the sun becoming veiled by clouds. His whole body draws into itself, his knuckles white where he clasps his hand on the table. It seems impossible how small this literal mountain of a man can suddenly appear. Magnus’ throat constricts with sympathy, and he has to stop himself from reaching out consciously. He barely knows this man. But it feels like he knows him, and it didn’t stop Alec.
“And now it’s not?” Magnus skims his fingertips over the knuckles of Alec’s hand, skin prickling when the knotted fingers relax under his touch. It shouldn’t be this easy, shouldn’t feel so natural.
“I—I did something I’m not proud of.” Alec swallows and looks at their hands, loosening his grip so he can turn his hand and brush his fingertips against Magnus’, lost in thought for a moment until he physically pulls himself together. They’re barely touching, electricity crackling in the sliver of air between their skin. It makes Magnus’ breath catch in his throat, but it seems to settle Alec’s emotions. “We haven’t talked in weeks. It all seems so stupid now, so petty. I should go and apologize. I will.” Sucking in a deep breath, Alec slumps back in his chair. “You know, these questions are total garbage. You weren’t wrong about baring our souls. Can’t they just ask us about our favorite burger?”
The heavy air between them lifts as soon as they aren’t touching anymore. It helps Magnus to clear his head enough to remember to reach for the next card, gives him something else to focus on than this strange connection that seems to surpass simple attraction.
“Let’s hope I didn’t jinx it then,” Magnus says, holding his next card up between two fingers. He means it. As fascinating as he finds Alec—fascinating being a massive understatement, he’s riveted—this is about all the soul-baring in front of strangers he can stomach without copious quantities of alcohol.
“I like your nail polish.”
One quiet remark, and the shaky equilibrium Magnus regained seconds ago is once again shot to hell. There’s no hidden meaning in the words, no come-on, just Alec’s quiet, absolute focus on him that makes something in Magnus’ chest loosen and unravel at an alarming speed. It’s unsettling, the whole experiment is. Magnus feels off-kilter, more drawn to Alec with every passing second, and he isn’t sure he likes it.
He didn’t ask for this.
In the back of his mind a voice that sounds like his friend Ragnor snorts inelegantly. Ah, my friend, but you did.
As much as Magnus wants to object, he's never been prone to deceiving himself. He's still a romantic at heart, wants to believe in that one true love that will get under his skin so deep he'll never want anyone else. He just doesn't think it's out there for him. All around him people are happy and well into starting their own family, and at thirty-three all he has to offer is a battered heart that was broken and stomped on one time too many.
But what if?
"I'm sorry if that was too much," Alec's voice cuts into Magnus' thoughts when the silence between them stretches out uncomfortably long.
"No! No, not all. I just don't usually get compliments without an ulterior motive. It's always Magnus this, Magnus that. Or people wanting to get into my pants." Magnus shrugs unapologetically. It's not bragging if it's the truth. He's been around the block, perhaps once or twice too many. A warm body is an excellent cure for just about everything.
"Shame, people should be nicer to each other." Alec stretches and rolls his shoulders, wincing a little around a yawn. "Sorry, long night at the precinct."
Magnus tries to focus on that, yet another glimpse of the kind and thoughtful man he can sense under the handsome facade, but it's impossible not to notice how Alec's shirt stretches tightly over his broad shoulders and chest. Magnus is only so strong, and Alec’s particular brand of intelligence, paired with heart and devastatingly good looks are quickly drawing him in.
“Anyway, the color suits you.” Alec inclines his head towards Magnus hand where he’s still holding the card between his fingers. “I’ve never seen a guy who can pull off sparkly, turquoise nail polish. It’s unusual. Special. Like you.”
The bold statement sends a flutter of warmth through Magnus, curling in his middle and quickly traveling up until he can feel the tips of his ears grow hot. Without a doubt Alec will notice it, but at least Magnus manages to keep his voice steady. “Are all detectives this blunt?”
“Only when the situation calls for it.” Alec smiles, quite obviously pleased with himself. “So, what do you have?”
“What do you consider your greatest achievement in life?” Magnus reads, glad it gives him something else to think about than the slow, erratic thud of his heart.
"That's a question for long nights of introspection, but I think we're already pushing our allotted time frame."
Magnus puts the card on the smaller pile and loosely clasps his hands. "I don't like to think there's just one single accomplishment that obliterates everything else I've done in my life. From an outsider's perspective my academic career as a professor at one of the top universities in the world most likely is the pinnacle of success. I love my career and I work hard for it, but I don' t value my personal achievements any less for it."
„I imagine you have quite a lot of those as well." Alec nods, his face serious and intent as he listens, his hazel eyes fixed on Magnus. "I get it. My job is important to me, but I want to be more than just Detective Lightwood. I need to be Alec, too. Matter to someone as family, a friend, a lover."
"Since we're both here, it would seem we're still working on the latter," Magnus laughs and winks to lighten the mood. It's working. Alec smiles, a little sheepish, his eyes lighting up with humor and a faint flush spilling down his neck. He really is exquisite.
If they'd met in a club, Magnus would have made his move already, willing to forget pretty much every standard he has about potential partners for a face and body like Alec’s. Intellect isn’t exactly a necessity for a night of anonymous passion. Hell, Magnus has half a mind to tell Alec screw this, let’s get out of here. The way Alec’s eyes keep straying to his mouth tells him he wouldn’t be turned down. But there’s more to Alec than stunning looks, more to the heat that’s spreading languorously in Magnus’ system. Less than half an hour and Magnus is already in much deeper than with people he’s known for months.
Magnus wants to call it potential but it feels like more than that. Potential means something might happen, but hasn’t it already? Wishful thinking, the magic of the moment, whatever it is, something is there between them and Magnus wants it. It scares him; too much too soon, like standing on the edge of a cliff with nowhere to go but taking a leap of faith.
The next questions fly by in a blur, scraps of information painting an even more captivating picture of Alec. Magnus files away Alec’s indignant Hey when he can’t hold back his surprise at learning that Alec plays the piano, offering the same sentiment in comfort after Alec’s halting confession about his strained relationship with his father. That’s another thing they have in common, and once again Alec’s hand over his own is a welcome touch that soothes an ache Magnus thought long healed.
“Share with your partner an embarrassing moment in your life.” Alec leans back heavily and runs a hand through his hair, muttering something Magnus can’t quite catch but that sounds a lot like for fuck’s sake.
“Out with it, darling.” It’s really just a slip of the tongue, but oh, if Magnus had known that the simple endearment would make Alec look at him like he’s two seconds from rounding that table, he would have done it an hour ago. Heat burns its way up his spine, sharp and sudden, leaving behind a lingering warmth that feels almost like a touch.
Almost, but not enough.
There’s a split second of hesitation before Alec straightens and meets Magnus’ eyes. “I almost got married. Tuxedo, white gown, the whole shebang.”
“That’s—interesting?” The warmth that a moment ago suffused Magnus whole body simmers down and gives way to mild confusion. “Forgive me, darling, but you don’t strike me—”
“As straight?”
“Straight, bi. I just don’t think women are your type.” The ridges of Magnus’ ear cuff tickle against his fingertips as he fiddles with it. It’s a nervous tick, something he unconsciously does when he’s uneasy, but like hell Magnus will admit to that. He meets Alec’s eyes straight on, lowers his lashes just the tiniest bit to make it a challenge.
“Fuck no, I’m so gay I can’t even think straight,” Alec snorts. It should be gross and unbecoming, not even vaguely attractive. Maybe it’s simple relief that makes Magnus find it charming. “I wasn’t out back then. My parents arranged a marriage, and I was so deep in the closet that I didn’t know how to get out.”
“This story is truly scintillating, Alexander, but I’m glad you got out eventually.” Magnus quirks a smile, some of the tension easing out of him when it’s met with a smirk. The thought of Alec being with a woman (or really anyone) shouldn’t affect him at all, but here he is, a sour taste lingering in his mouth. Christ.
“That was the last time somebody called me that. Alexander,” Alec clarifies. “Right before I said No in front of the altar and came out to half of the city’s old money families. My mother almost fainted from sheer outrage, and my father told me to be a man and go through with it anyway. Which in return made me almost faint because I couldn’t breathe around my anger and disappointment.”
“I take it that’s part of the reason for your strained relationship?” Magnus isn’t sure what’s worse. Having a father who shows so little regard to his son’s feelings, or one who isn’t around at all. Either way, they both drew the short straw.
“My mother eventually came around but I haven’t seen my father since then.” Alec doesn’t look particularly upset. An old wound then. Magnus knows more about old wounds than he cares to admit. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t occasionally hurt.
“That wasn’t an easy thing to do. I’m proud of you, Alexan—Alec.”
“No, I like it.” Alec leans forward, their hands touching unerringly again. Just a brush of their fingertips, but it grounds Magnus, soothes his scraped raw nerves. Alec seems to feel the same because his eyes are bright and warm when he looks at Magnus. “It sounds different from you, like it matters. Like I matter.”
Magnus swallows around a lump in his throat. "You do matter. So much," he says, his voice hoarse, and he means it. To me. All of this may seem like a forgotten dream tomorrow. Magnus feels torn, spread thin by sharing so much of himself. He's unsure how much of what he feels are his own emotions and how much is a product of the intimacy that's forced on them, but Magnus knows that Alec is special. However they will go on from here, nothing will change that and Magnus will be richer for having been allowed to spend time with him.
Nodding jerkily, Alec smiles. A private, tiny thing that's all the more precious because Magnus put it there. "Thank you."
"Well then, second to last one. Shall we?" Magnus reaches for the next card of the now significantly smaller stack, eager to break the silence that follows after their last exchange. It's not an uncomfortable silence, quite the contrary. He has an inkling that quiet times with Alec are something to be cherished, but this moment feels private and he's reluctant to share it with whoever is undoubtedly listening in.
"Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?" Magnus reads the question and now it's his turn to mutter 'for fuck's sake'.
Goddamn, all of a sudden he's so sick of this soul striptease. Getting to know Alec has been nothing short of a revelation but Magnus wouldn't mind continuing their conversation over a triple shot latte and some lighter topics. He has opinions about Prada's spring collection and a feeling that Alec might just humor him. As he does right now, waiting patiently while Magnus mentally cartwheels through his thirty seconds of conniption.
"You okay?" Alec's voice is warm, soothing, a hint of concern deepening it. If that's his interrogation voice, criminals from all over the city must be standing in line.
"Yeah, let's get this over with." Magnus forces a smile, dropping it immediately when Alec gives him an unimpressed look. Well, it was worth a try. "This is a sore topic and in a way one of the reasons I'm here today."
Not even his best friends know what's sitting on the tip of Magnus' tongue. He pauses, looking at Alec for—he isn't quite sure what but receives nod and a smile anyway, and that's what makes him jump. "There's a box on the shelf of my office. It contains tokens from everyone I've ever been in a relationship with. Some remind me of happy times, lovers who crossed my path and we were right for each other until we weren't anymore."
"And some memories were not so happy?"
"I've loved once with everything I had, only to find out that person betrayed me in any way possible. I closed myself off years after that. Until—“ Today. Magnus carefully looks down on his flawlessly painted nails, not quite sure what he's implying. He's not in love with Alec. It's impossible. "Once or twice each year I open that box and go through its contents. It reminds me that I'm capable of love. Even if it isn't in the cards for me right now, which is entirely my fault, it gives me hope that one day I will find somebody who loves me the way I deserve. And that's why I would save that box even if the whole building would collapse around me."
"It's not your fault, it's that person's fault." Alec looks genuinely upset, a deep furrow between his eyes marring his lovely features. "But I get it. I don't love easily and I don't let myself be loved easily. Or so I've been told."
Magnus laughs ruefully. "What a pair we make."
"I'd say a pretty good one." Alec meets Magnus' eyes without reservation, frank and so soft it makes Magnus tremble with the effort to sort through his warring emotions.
"Put on the headphones on, start the tape, and stare into each others eyes for four minutes," Alec reads after picking up the last card. He barks out a laugh. "Now they're going easy on us?"
Magnus isn't so sure about that, but he's pleasantly surprised when the tape provides merely a background of ambient noise that fades into nothingness. Combined with the stark white of the room it feels like Magnus is falling, his world shrinking, their surroundings fading until it's just the two of them.
There's a green ring around the hazel of Alec's eyes, faint laugh lines Magnus didn't notice before surrounding them. It's a comforting thought that despite his often gruesome job, Alec still likes to laugh. As someone who celebrates life, Magnus can’t even imagine facing death in all its forms each day. If he had to, though, laughing with friends and family would be an absolute necessity to hang on to his humanity.
Right on cue, Alec smiles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. It softens his classic features, makes Magnus wonder how he'll look when he outright laughs with his head thrown back in mirth or happiness.
An image of Alec stretched out on the golden sheets in his loft flashes through Magnus' mind, Alec’s face relaxed in sleep and his lashes casting shadows against the crest of his cheek in the early morning light.
Magnus never takes anyone home.
Maybe it’s the heat that’s creeping up his neck, maybe his thoughts are splashed all over his face, but as soon as Magnus’ imagination takes flight, Alec’s gaze drops to his mouth again and the room around them grows several degrees hotter.
With the temperature, Magnus' heart rate spikes too. They aren't even touching but his skin prickles with Alec's imagined touch, and in the back of Magnus' mind his thoughts from earlier are rushing back to mock him. Instant attraction kills any possibility for deeper feelings? The hot mess of emotions in his chest, an explosive mix of want and something much softer, tells a different story.
Magnus wants. It’s not a new experience. He’s burned hot and fast like this before, but it’s been a long time since it felt like kindling rather than straw fire. Yes, he wants Alec with an intensity that feels like a punch to the chest, but at the same time he’s suffused with an inexplicable bone-deep satisfaction that’s rooted in the joy of simply being in Alec’s company.
Four minutes should last an eternity. In this room with Alec, they are over in the blink of an eye. Magnus startles when the tape runs out, the silence almost deafening around them. Before he can think of something witty to say, the door across the room opens, and an assistant calls for Alec to follow. His own name rings out a second later.
Everything goes so fast, Magnus doesn’t have the presence of mind to protest, to tell them No, he needs to talk to Alec. He remembers being briefed about the protocol, but right now he doesn’t give a damn. He doesn’t even have Alec’s number.
As a scientist, Magnus knows that experiments need to be documented and evaluated with utmost diligence. He also knows that the research assistant who asks him even more questions than he just answered is only doing her job. By signing the agreement before he went through that door, he agreed to everything that's happening now.
All rational thinking though can't alleviate the growing sense of urgency that makes Magnus snappish and even more impatient by the minute. Biting his tongue when the assistant's tablet crashes for the third time, Magnus is only mollified when she asks his consent to give his contact information to Alec. He signs that form with a bit of extra flourish, grumbling just a little when she rolls her eyes that yes, Mr. Lightwood will be asked to do the same. Well, maybe Magnus asked twice, but scientists can't be trusted.
After yet another technical mishap with the printer, Magnus is finally re-released into the real world. He's still thrumming with nervous energy and too many emotions, but he takes his time buttoning his coat and binding his scarf. Even if Alec decided to stick around and wait for him, he’d be long gone by now. Even angels aren't this patient. He'll have to wait for Alec's contact information or his call, hoping against all hope that the tablet saved at least this bit of information. Damn. Patience admittedly isn't a virtue he can claim for himself.
Magnus steps out of the building, ducking his head against the cold and debating on which direction to take. A walk and maybe a cup of coffee might do him some good to clear his head. So caught up in his thoughts, Magnus only notices Alec unfolding his tall frame from one of the benches lining the street when they're already standing close enough to touch.
"Alexander!" Magnus breathes full of wonder, reaching out for him at the same moment Alec reaches for him.
"I thought I missed you," Alec says quietly, fisting his hands into the lapels of Magnus’ coat. His nose is red from the cold, and he's shivering in his too thin jacket because he waited for Magnus.
Something in Magnus cracks. A surge of warmth sweeps through him, sweet and heavy, leaving a dull roar in its wake that makes it impossible to form a thought beyond Yes.
It must show on his face, or maybe he said it out loud. Everything slows down as he tilts up his face and watches Alec’s eyes drop to his mouth again, their breath mingling in the chilly air between them. Alec’s skin is cold as he brings a hand up and strokes his thumb over Magnus’ cheek, but it still leaves a path of heat that sends Magnus’ heart racing.
“Can I—”Alec starts, his lovely brown eyes almost black when Magnus nods.
“Hey” someone shouts, a bicycle bell ringing up a storm behind them because they’re standing in the middle of the pavement. The moment is broken, and Magnus sighs with regret as he feels Alec straighten. Despite his warm coat, he suddenly shivers. Neither of them moves, though, the cyclist already gone and forgotten.
“Fuck,” Magnus says with feeling.
“Fuck,” Alec agrees and huffs out a laugh, brushing the back of his fingers against Magnus’ cheek. It almost makes up for the kiss Magnus was robbed of. “Should we get a drink first?”
“I was just about to get coffee.” Magnus nods and steps back, starting into the direction of a little coffee shop he saw on his way here. “You look like you could do with a something hot. Other than me.”
Alec laughs, throwing his head back before he quickly falls into step with Magnus. He looks even better than Magnus imagined. It’s only a short walk, seemingly even quicker with the additional spring in Magnus’ step. He didn’t miss the first in Alec’s question about getting a drink, and Magnus always collects.
Alec squeezes his eyes shut and rolls onto his back with a groan. It’s late already, little specks of dust dancing in the pale sunlight that’s streaming through a gap in the curtains. The other half of the bed is empty, he can tell by the lack of weight against his side, so he might as well get up. Not bothering with more than a pair of boxers, Alec steps out of the bedroom, following the delicious smell of fresh coffee and pancakes.
He could get used to this vacation thing. Especially if the first thing that greets him is the sight of Magnus in nothing but a pair of boxers and his favorite apron.
“Morning, Mr. Lightwood-Bane,” Alec murmurs as he steps behind Magnus and slides his arms around his middle, mindful of the spatula Magnus is brandishing. “This smells amazing.”
“Good morning to you, too, Mr. Lightwood-Bane.” Magnus tilts his head, giving Alec better access for the row of kisses he lays against his throat. “They better smell amazing. I had to borrow butter from Mrs. Rafferty downstairs because somebody distracted me yesterday and we never made it to the grocery store.”
“Isn’t that the purpose of a honeymoon?” Alec hums, stealing a bit of the pancake Magnus slides onto a plate. “Staying in bed all day and never leave the house?”
“Larceny before noon, detective?” Magnus scolds, his voice mock-stern as he swats at Alec’s hand. “We should at least stock up on food. I think I’m still blushing after listening to Mrs. Rafferty prattle on about the many creative uses of butter.”
“Did you learn anything interesting?”Alec grins and fills two cups of coffee, sitting down at the table while Magnus carries over their plates. His apron says ‘kiss the cook, often and everywhere’, framed by a glittery heart. Alec would be a terrible cop if he couldn’t carry out a direct order, and Magnus doesn’t even try to resist when Alec pulls him into his lap and starts on the arduous task to kiss him breathless.
Breakfast turns into brunch as they share small bites of pancake between kisses, each one longer and heavier than the last, their hands roaming over hot skin in long caresses. It’s only been three months since Alec snapped at Izzy for signing him up for an experiment he thought to be utterly pointless, three months filled with love and happiness and Magnus. Everyone, even their closest friends and family, called them crazy when they invited them for their impromptu wedding last week, but Alec couldn’t care less. This—Magnus is it for him, and he knows Magnus feels the same, so why wait?
Eventually, they’ll have to emerge from their touch-drunk bubble and face the real world again. Neither of them had been able to take off more than one week from work on such short notice, and there was no time for a proper vacation. Alec thinks he likes this even better, just the two of them in their home. They have a lifetime for traveling together. One honeymoon trip every year sounds about right to Alec.
They'll have to buy something nice for Izzy for making him go to that experiment. Maybe a toaster, but unlike Izzy, toasters belong into the kitchen and can explode, so perhaps a fruit basket.
"Alexander, I’m afraid you're not doing a very good job," Magnus interrupts his thoughts and wriggles a little in his lap, tugging on his apron. "Kiss me, or do I have to call the cops?”
“I’m sure that won’t be necessary,” Alec murmurs against Magnus’ lips. He does take orders very well.
Tumblr media
Alec “Proud Puppy” Lightwood
Tumblr media
THAT FACE HAHA. Also crêpes man I'm jealous.
Tumblr media
Rude man, don't rip him away from his hard earned waffles.
Tumblr media
This is so hilarious to me, okay, this prompting hand flick Alec does (which you can't see here because I can't gif, only screenshot ahahaha) man I love it. Sadly I didn't find a gif of this yet, so I can't put one :( I can't even put into words why it's so hilarious to me. And Magnus's sceptical gaze hahaha.
Edit: I FOUND ONE
Tumblr media
HAHAHA HELL YEAH
Tumblr media
I mean we all knew this was fake, not least because it implies Magnus is wearing the same outfit two days in a row and obviously this would NEVER happen, but also because in no universe does Alec have smooth dance moves. It's a law of nature.
Tumblr media
lol is this an innuendo or something because I don't get it, pls help
Tumblr media
Tiny waist touch is spotted and highly appreciated.
Tumblr media
That scene transition was brilliant and there is nothing else to say about it. I lost count of how many times I've rewatched it because it's awesome. The way Alec's voice sounds slighty off, the way Magnus gets heavier in his arms, the way everything spins out of focus, and Alec's last “Stay with me” sounds almost hard with urgency.
Tumblr media
When I first saw this I was legit yelling at the screen why the hell Alec is just shaking him instead of, idk, doing CPR but I did him a grave injustice there because he actually does and I really appreciate that. (Though, if he learned first aid I wonder all the more about 3x12 (or was it 3x13, I lost count lol) where he just lets Sentry Guy die without even trying to save him.)
That being said, I'm really happy we got to see the immediate aftershocks of it because I was half afraid this episode would just start with Magnus in the infirmary bed. Still, I have a question. Who called Catarina? Izzy? Because why is she then so shocked when she learns Magnus is not breathing? When she presumably first entered the room to receive the instruction to call Catarina, did she not... wonder why Alec was cpr-ing him? Or did Magnus not immediately stop breathing after collapsing but just, faded slowly while Alec had already told Izzy to call Catarina? I kinda wanna know the mechanics here.
Tumblr media
I mean, no surprise there if you keep killing them?? Ahahaha.
Tumblr media
My fangirl brain: What, General Amaya from the Dragon Prince is gonna appear? Sign me the hell up!!!! My rest-brain catching up: No this is not a crossover and no, r is not y and just, no. My fangirl brain: :<
Tumblr media
........ignoring the fact that summoning her is super stupid, there's also the tiny detail that they don't have leverage why would she help them are they just gonna say “pretty please”?? I can't believe them.
Tumblr media
lol Bohemian if you see this, this panel is only for you to haunt your dreams XD hehehe sorry sorry but I just couldn't resist XD
Tumblr media
Wtf I can't believe those words just came out of his mouth. Jace, you're gonna start with a pep talk? You were possessed and forced to do things against your will, you should know better than this. Honestly.
Tumblr media
The way his voice goes up, just kill me now.
Tumblr media
THIS DETAIL OH MY GOD
I absolutely loved this scene, in terms of acting it was perfect and it was painfully in character for Alec to blame himself for everything that's not going alright with someone he loves. The problem I have however (because come on, there's always a problem with me) is that they genuinely want to tell me that Alec didn't realize Magnus was faking it? Magnus loses his magic and he “doesn't think twice”? I mean, that's either really really insensitive or really really stupid. And Alec might be insensitive sometimes, but not like that and he surely isn't that stupid. So, uh, I don't really like that bit. Again, if he was secretly happy that Magnus's immortality is gone that's one more thing to feel intensely shitty about, I get that, but being secretly glad how things turned out and not realizing the other person is suffering from how things turned out are two entirely different things. And just, tf Alec. He can't possibly be that dense, can he, that he genuinely thought Magnus was okay with this. Even if he thought this was something Magnus could get used to in the long run, he didn't expect him to need some kind of settling-in period? Really??
Tumblr media
HELL YEAH I STAN CAT SO HARD IN THIS SCENE. And I'm so glad she's the voice of reason in this.... after deigning to appear at long effing last ahahaha sorry not sorry for that dig XD Look it's not her fault, it's the screen writers'.
Tumblr media
I got a soft spot for Simon calling her Fray. Also, high-key loving how they're all sitting there waiting for news and finally acknowledging that something's up with Magnus.
Tumblr media
LOL CLARY TELL US HOW YOU REALLY FEEL. Kidding. It was the Evil Rune at work again, even though she's nowhere near fire. Maybe it was the hypnotic neon lights? In any case, this is becoming a real problem lol. (No, tbh I found that outbreak totally hilarious XD)
Tumblr media
.............................*sigh* I mean, your fierce determination doesn't change the fact that this plan is doomed to fail and you still don't have any leverage over Lilith, but sure. Go off.
Tumblr media
YEAH BECAUSE AS SHE PROVED SHE HAS COMMON SENSE. Though I really hope she also told Alec about this dumb-ass request by his dumb-ass parabatai so he can intervene. But, tbh I don't really expect that to happen. *sigh*
Tumblr media
Kill herself and then revive herself, hoping a short moment of death is enough to severe the connection? Or maybe, uh, try to use her rune power to cancel her Evil Rune instead of summoning Lilith??? Just for starters.
Tumblr media
WTF I CAN'T BELIEVE I'D SEE THE DAY WHERE  J A C E  IS THE VOICE OF REASON WTF COLOR ME IMPRESSED I LOVE IT
Tumblr media
“See, I infused it with a strong dose of Plot Convenience, so that shouldn't be an issue.”
Tumblr media
THE PORTRAIT IN THE BACKGROUND HAHAHAHAHAHA
“Why? Why do you hate him so much?” “It's simple. All my life I've had to sit by and watch...”
Tumblr media
Thanks for 100% confirming my headcanon, I do love that :)
Tumblr media
BAM!!!
Tumblr media
I really like the detail that he's so out of breath from the magic, it shows that it was probably more harmful that just a shove back? Oh the questions I want to ask.....
Tumblr media
Bitch you're 484 don't round down so much hahaha
Tumblr media
Is Lorenzo actually gonna be swayed by this????????????????????? uh
Edit: Ahahaha we later learn he actually is and obviously I had to write a ficlet about it, so uuuuh whatever I'll put it at the end with all my other shameless self promo I'll include in this thing XD
Tumblr media
OH YEAH I remember the “Different outfits for different occasions” comment from 2x19 I wonder what she'll wear? The same, or even older??? Btw why does she share a smile with Meliorn as if this is a private joke? Because, like, it isn't.
Tumblr media
I mean that's touching and all, but that doesn't change the fact that Lilith loves you and seeing you dead would absolutely tear her apart, thus making this a fitting revenge. Wtf Jonathan this is no sound counterargument.
Tumblr media
Hm. Tbh I liked her youngest self best? But she's still cast very well. And I recognize that her talking face to face with Jonathan would have been a little ridic if she only reached his navel XD
Tumblr media
Ugh, Bohemian, can you see me rolling my eyes?
Tumblr media
lol at least this was funny
Tumblr media
OMG Luke could you be any more dramatic, are you actually kidding me. I'm gonna be sick soon if you don't cut the bs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow the first sign of Sizzy that didn't suck, yay! XD this was actually pretty sweet.
Tumblr media
Oh you mean that time that Raphael was feeding on her and they were indulging in mutual addiction? Because as soon as Izzy was clean she steered clear of Raphael.
Tumblr media
..............................................what happened to “scumbag ex”? Why am I even asking?
Tumblr media
?? Yeah? What happened to “While Saia lasted it was the best thing ever?” Then again that was what, three episodes ago? Can't hold him accountable for something that happened so long ago, right.
Tumblr media
Hahaha okay that was cute.
Tumblr media
1) LOL how hilarious would it be if they summon Lilith and just get her corpse plus Jonathan holding the sword still sticking out of her chest. 2) Jonathan is a true sadist, making her wear those heels. 3) Who's that wheelchair for? I mean, Lilith designed this apartment for her disciples, right?
Tumblr media
.................which she doesn't need, since she's no warlock and her powers come from her angel blood, not ley lines. So, points for trying, show, but please don't mix up your races. Makes you look so unprofessional. (Except if this is a hint that shadowhunters also run on ley line energy, have ley line magic flowing through them etc. but honestly I'm not even entertaining the thought because then I'd have a conniption.)
Tumblr media
Wtf it's literally standing twenty seconds of intense mindnumbing pain, why the hell would you need a coach for that? Just hold it together and endure it. Also, if they attempt it, 20 bucks say he'll die for some dramatic Sizzy “Oh shit you could really have died, too” moment.
Tumblr media
Awww you can really see the love in that touch. <--- sarcasm.
Tumblr media
Awww you can really see the love in that touch. <--- no sarcasm.
Honestly, Magnus's touch is natural and familiar (btw love the uncoordinated grabbing) while Alec turns Magnus's chin as if he's trying to make as little physical contact as humanly possible. Is a hand on his cheek really too much to ask for? *sigh*
Tumblr media
lol you'd think he'd start with that immediately after Magnus wakes up instead of taking risks (it's what I would have done) but whatever.
Tumblr media
He's.... actually there to help? For free? Or is Alec gonna have to hand over the Institute's keys to him when the job is done? Lol. (Also that suit jacket could be straight out of Magnus's closet.)
Tumblr media
Oh my God Alec just say he could die. Why sugarcoat it? Say it how it is, and Magnus might listen to you.
Tumblr media
.........yeah. This is so relatable and I love how he delivers this line. The desperation is clear, but he's also determined about it. Also, quick question, why didn't Alec get Catarina to be there when Magnus wakes up instead of Lorenzo? I'm not saying it would have changed the outcome but it might just have made Magnus feel less shitty about being exposed to his nemesis in this weak state. Then again I get it, Alec is running on panic and instinct, so consideration is the last thing on his mind.
Tumblr media
This scene was amazing. Or, lol, this part of the scene. Magnus's performance is stellar and FYI the next thing he says, the “Look at me! Can you honestly say you like this?” was improvised and that's just ugh so good. Coincidentally this is also where my issues with this scene begin. They're not about how the characters act, I found that part very very fitting; it's meta.
The issue Magnus is having isn't about some fear that Alec won't love him anymore now that he doesn't have his magic anymore. Magnus is projecting. His issue lies within himself. He feels differently about himself, he can't say he likes this, and it's only in conclusion that he assumes it must be the same for Alec. But Alec isn't the root of this issue. But of course it's easier to pretend it's about Alec than to openly admit his severe self-image issues, so that's what Magnus does. Perfectly ic to me. The problem I have here is that if we take what Magnus says at face value it appears that Magnus only wants his magic back so Alec will keep loving him (sidenote: even more if you cross out Harry's addition and just focus on the “You fell in love with the High Warlock of Brooklyn. Can you honestly say you don't feel differently about me?”) and the solution to that is clear: Alec drops some wedding vows, problem solved.
But that's not the problem here. Magnus would literally rather be dead than without his magic and no amount of Alec waxing poetry about him is going to change that. And honestly, I'm so grateful for Harry's addition because that made it abundantly clear to me that Magnus is projecting. His bewildered “Can you honestly say you like this?” is an admittance of “I see what I am now and I can't bear it, so how could you?” If that scene had been about Alec, that would have been so uncalled for.
And also loooool but uuuuuuhhh I found Alec's speech less than impressive? I'm sorry, I know he tried but it just didn't work for me? I felt like it really wasn't up to his usual par. Lol I honestly rolled my eyes when he started about the spark that lights up the room XD It felt impersonal, kinda. It's hard to describe. Of course I can cut him some slack on that, because he was emotionally severely overchallenged in that moment and had to make it up on the fly, but uh. Yeah.
Anyway what I really didn't like was his closing line because it kinda sounded as if he was making that decision for Magnus and that's not his place. It might be dangerous and stupid and “not worth the risk” but Magnus isn't in a place where he should have his authority revoked, so. Kept from gambling with his life, yes. With sound arguments and empathy, yes. With dictation, no. So that didn't go over too well with me. Anyway I channeled that into a ficlet already, too, which I'm also advertising at the end.
Tumblr media
......has she just been sitting there for six episodes? Btw I wonder, if Jonathan is happily manipulating Lilith by faking positive emotions towards her I don't get why he totally fell for it every time Clary did the exact same thing to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THAT MALICIOUS SMILE HAHAHA THE LITTLE (S)ASS
Tumblr media
1) SO SHE'S LITERALLY BEEN SITTING THERE FOR SIX EPISODES?!?!!?!?!
2) Why hello there Plot Point XD srsly why tf would Asmodeus use Magnus's magic instead of his own if, need I remind you, his own demonic magic is stronger than Magnus's, Magnus's wasn't even enough to destroy her demonic possession on Jace.... so why would Magnus's magic be enough to bind Lilith, the mother of that possession, to a room? Uh, lemme guess... Plot Convenience? So when, theory time!, Lilith is slayed he has no need for it anymore and can return it to Magnus?
Tumblr media
“...to kill you while you were weakened.”
Tumblr media
WOW WHAT A DELIVERY AMAZING
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
........I gotta be honest, I was really confused at his submissive behavior but then I realized... they have a 10 year history of these mechanisms, and slipping back into the pattern of things must be so easy. Also, I mean, that paints a really wonderful and peaceful image of his formative years, right?
Tumblr media
Jimon Shipper Moment <3 ;) Look I don't even ship it, but their bickering is high-key amusing to me.
Tumblr media
Instead of just standing between them from the get go? Why?
Tumblr media
?????? I guess the incest runs in the family, pun not intended?????? Btw Jonathan's weird incest-y obsession makes so much sense now. If this is literally the only way he ever learned how “familial love” (Lilith Greater Demon Edition) is expressed I have no questions anymore. Seriously, he's so screwed over by everyone and it's just unfair. (On that note, glad we never had to see him make out with Valentine. Some things are just too terrible to envision. Damn, why did I say that, I should just shut up for all of our sakes.) Anyway, back to our favorite tortured soul here, I'm honestly not even sure if I can hold the incest thing against him any longer. His entire life consisted of being raised by Valentine, who kept him in a hut in the woods where he never got to see anyone but him, and then Edom where there was Lilith and demons. It makes a horrifying amount of sense that normal human norms mean nothing to him. He's never lived them, he's never witnessed them and maybe he doesn't even know them. So yeah. I guess I'll just add the incest thing on the long long list of things that are due to the stellar parenting he enjoyed, and not entirely his fault.
Tumblr media
Damn so close to see my prognosis come true. Then again, I guess this was just the perfect timing because who knows if Lilith won't even help them now kill Jonathan because betrayal bla bla.
Tumblr media
1) No need to twist the knife, then again this is Lorenzo so what am I even expecting.
2) WTF ARE THEY REALLY NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THIS SOME MORE?!?!?!??!?!
3) If it's like a transplanted organ being rejected by the body, just, idk, look for a different warlock whose magic fits Magnus better? There must be tests for that kind of thing? And even if there isn't, if you go slow and don't immediately portal all over the world plus end an encanto-coma you should be able to tell the magic doesn't fit pretty quickly without going into cardiac arrest. Magnus only got some nosebleed at first, remember, and it got worse only because he didn't slow down. I'm just saying, there would be Ways.
Tumblr media
Wow I never realized before that he's actually got an undercut. Makes his hairstyle look even stupider.
Tumblr media
Wow I believe this even less now than I did in 3x12.
Tumblr media
“Let's hug in these trying times, but please make sure your face doesn't touch mine, otherwise people might draw the absurd and outrageous conclusion that we're in a relationship or something.”
Honestly. Their portrayal of casual intimacy is abysmal and I hate it.
Tumblr media
1) The infirmary is very weird and open space for a place that should be easily closable if you need to contain, idk, sick people and their viruses and keep it sanitary. 2) I've been wondering since the start of the episode, did Lorenzo's pony tail get shorter? Wasn't it longer before? 3) At least Malec managed to make their feet intersect minimally, so yay for small mercies.
Tumblr media
“One dose of Plot Convenience, coming right up.”
Tumblr media
They're just.... gonna torture her? Really? I don't even have words for this. Oh no, I do:
Tumblr media
Seriously. It's as if morality isn't a thing, and torturing a sentient being isn't always and under all circumstances a Wrong and Bad thing to do. Because clearly if the person receiving torture is just Evil Enough then it's okay. Thanks for standing by and doing nothing Simon, this is exactly the reason I hate your inconsistent streak on this matter. I don't even expect better from the born shadowhunters, and Clary is way to un-reflected to even twitch but. Ugh. Why am I even wasting my breath (my typing capacity?) on this. It's pointless.
Tumblr media
Wow this is pointless, too. I mean, why is Izzy not interfering? She literally just fell down. She shouldn't be out of comission by this. Ugh.
Also ugh to Izzy slinging her whip around his hand instead of, idk, his whole upper body and his arms.
Also ugh to Simon waiting to attack Jonathan until the last second as a heroic saving move to save Izzy which, ugh.
But this here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#AwkwardGrownUpSquad
Tumblr media
I'm honestly lol'ing so hard right now. Hahahaha this is just hilarious to me. Then again, who knows, maybe now they'll team up with Jonathan to kill Lilith and I'll get my hopes up again for a redemption arc XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
......................HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Btw I bet you she copied that move from Doctor Strange.
Tumblr media
lol another thing I didn't see coming.
Tumblr media
1) Hello Hannibal lol 2) Who went in there and put restraints on him? 3) Who's gonna pay that Seelie actress now??
Tumblr media
This scene was actually nice? I know, I'm surprised myself.
Tumblr media
How convenient. I mean, good thing he didn't say “Glorious” otherwise Izzy might have thought he was asking for that one ESC song to be played at his funeral.
Tumblr media
Please, Maryse, don't flatter yourself, all you had to do was scratch Elliot's corpse from the floor boards, the rest was already completely furnished.
Tumblr media
..................................................................................................................bye
Look, while part of me is undeniably thrilled at the prospect – because while I was totally rooting for a Malec Wedding I was pretty sure it was an unachievable dream, just like hoping for Sheith – this is exactly what I mean with taking things at face value. Alec takes Magnus at his words (that he has doubts Alec will still love him now that he lost his powers) and so he thinks that a grand gesture of commitment will fix it.
But it won't, because that's not the problem. Or at least I hope it's not the problem, I mean if I lost my arm my main worry would be “Holy shit how am I gonna cope without my trusty appendage” not “What are the neighbors gonna think? Will I still be able to rock my favorite outfit without that limb?”
Anyway. I don't think this'll go over too well at this point in time. And honestly, Alec just realized at the beginning of this episode that he was fooled by Magnus's coping facade and tricked into thinking Magnus would be fine without his magic. And now Magnus has lost is magic again and Alec just... makes the same mistake again, blindly believing the words coming out of Magnus's mouth instead of taking a look for himself and seeing how Magnus is faring? Did he learn nothing from this? Alec. Why are you like this.
Anyway, conclusion time: This episode was way more reasonably paced than the last, the shit decision making was kept to a minimum (except for the part where they, y'know, summon Lilith back to earth) and Jace gets a diligence starlet for displaying common sense.
And now, self advertisement time! I wrote three ficlets: a) a continuation of the scene with Alec and Lorenzo b) a gap-bridging Malec scene set after the “I won't lose you” line and finally c) a what-I'd-like-to-see-happen-in-3x17-fic where Alec tells Izzy about his proposal plans.
I'd be thrilled if you checked one of them out. Until next time XD
i am for you (10/?)
This chapter brought to you by that time I accidentally left Sucker on loop on Spotify for like three days. idk why either, that’s all I’ve got tho
***
[misfit group mms]
[tessa]: oh, it's nice to be home on a Friday night [tessa]: I love the ALA con but my pajamas are so much more comfortable
[dot]: says you and Ragnor, maybe. The rest of you got any plans? I've got itchy feet but I can't decide what I want to do or where to go
[magnus]: you always have itchy feet
[dot]: you're one to talk
[cat]: so you're crowdsourcing for ideas?
[dot]: why not?
[cat]: Sorry, I have to work a double tomorrow, I'm with Tessa. Tea and putting my feet up, that's the life
[magnus]: Alexander and I are going dancing.
[cat]: I can see your giddy smile from here, you've got it bad
[magnus]: Yes, I do
[raphael]: you've had worse taste, I must admit
[magnus]: was that a compliment?
[raphael]: he's not a total idiot. He has a sense of humor, too
[tessa]: what [tessa]: did you make a joke? One someone else could recognize rather than one where you laughed at them in your head? And then he GOT IT? [tessa]: Magnus, your boy's magical, I can't wait to meet him
[magnus]: not today, sorry darling
[dot]: oh we know. Have fun
[magnus]: so much fun
[raphael]: please don't give us the details
[magnus]: just for that, you're getting pictures tonight [magnus]: so many pictures [magnus]: every possible outfit combination [magnus]: every menu item I consider for dinner [magnus]: every step in line on the way to the club
[raphael]: why are you such an asshole
[magnus]: but I'll stop once we get inside [magnus]: because I love you
[dot]: or because Pandemonium uses those weird spotlights and strobes so most pics look terrible
[cat]: oh no, it's because Magnus will be too busy admiring Alec
[raphael]: never thought I'd be thankful for Magnus' libido
[magnus]: harsh. I'll have you know he has a beautiful soul
[dot]: you're not going to a club to grind against Alec's *soul*
[cat]: apparently he can multi-task. Enjoy his soul, pretty eyes, and how he moves his hips?
[magnus]: stop objectifying my boyfriend [magnus]: or wait 'til he can hear you so I can at least enjoy him blushing
[cat]: ah, young love
[magnus]: you're the same age I am
[cat]: but I'm not in love, thank god, it sounds exhausting
[magnus]: bah humbug?
[ragnor]: exactly [ragnor]: But I also have plans, actually. Quieter ones.The observatory's doing a talk on the Lyrids, and then they're having a midnight picnic while we see how well they show up
[dot]: oooh. Can I come?
[ragnor]: if you can get here in half an hour, it's a bit of a drive to the site. Have to get far enough out of town to avoid the worst of the light pollution
[dot]: on it
[magnus]: hmmm, I have to start planning my photo montage [magnus]: you're gonna love it, Raphael [magnus]: you should get a new SD card [magnus]: so you can save them ALL
[cat]: I'm so sorry, Raphael
[magnus]: OH. IT'S ON. YOU'RE GETTING THEM TOO
[cat]: ohnomyphone'sdyingwhatwasthat
[tessa]: have fun, children. And Ragnor.
***
[maia]: Alec's here. With Magnus. Dancing. In public. Holy shit Magnus can dance. Alec's not bad, but wow. WOW.
[simon]: why are you telling me this when I can't come &see it for myself? That's just mean
[maia]: so you can tell Becky and she can give you that look that she does when she doesn't believe you? Because that look's hilarious
[simon]: you are a cruel woman
[maia]: you're just jealous Becky likes me better
[simon]: Everyone likes you better. You are objectively the best, I am proud of everyone for liking you better.
[maia]: awww. That was really sweet you big dork
[simon]: 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
[maia]: less sweet, more dork
[simon]: hey, at least I didn't try and make long-stemmed rose emojis for you [simon]: that'd be a bit much
[maia]: SPEAKING OF A BIT MUCH [maia]: I think there's glitter in Alec's hair. From Magnus' ... Everything?
[simon]: WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS? I hate Pandemonium's lighting, I can't even ask you to get pics, they never come out
[maia]: well Lydia's seen Alec do this before, apparently, the dancing at least if not the glitter, and Clary's right here staring at them with me, and I can't very well tell Izzy or Jace, they're all stuck in *wait are we supposed to worry about him now?* mode and it's clearly very confusing for them that their big brother is his own person and has sex. Possibly a lot of sex? Alec and Magnus are very close together with this dancing thing. [maia]: They're really hot, babe
[simon]: I'm your last choice? AND you're telling me other boys are hot? I'm hurt
[maia]: no you're not, you know I love you (and you also know they're hot)
[simon]: I do, don't I? Love you too.
[maia]: were you agreeing with both of those?
[simon]: obviously [simon]: I can get away with that 'cause he's not actually my brother and also I know you'll never tell him I said that because you like me enough not to want me to be QUITE that mortified [simon]: aw shit, you'd totally tell Becky or Clary tho. Please don't tell Becky & Clary
[maia]: I'll consider it 😏 [maia]: Clary's probably safe. She seems really weirded out by Alec's date-behavior. Pointing out that we both already knew he was hot might make her head explode. [maia]: do you think it's because she thinks of Alec as a brother or just because he's so *Alec* iykwim?
[simon]: probably both. Clary's good at multi-tasking her emotions
[maia]: Was that a compliment or an insult?
[simon]: no idea [simon]: and Bubbie's back, gotta go. She did want to know if you're still good for Shabbat next week?
[maia]: course. Tell her I'll bring the wine
[simon]: told you everyone should like you best 😍
[maia]: 😘
[aline]: alec's what? WHAT. [aline]: CLARY [aline]: CLARY WTF [aline]: I AM GOING TO CALL LUKE AND MAKE SURE NO ONE'S DYING
[aline]: clary? If you're asleep and no one's dying I'm going to kill you
[clary]: sorry, sorry. Got some water and a keyboard I candothisnow. Sort of. Sorry
[aline]: how drunk are you
[clary]: not too drunk for these conversation [clary]: thank god my phone's well trained
[aline]: thank god I woke up and had coffee already [aline]: can you start over now?
[clary]: yeah like. A week or twss ago this guy THIS GUY with the best clothes I've ever seen and eyeliner to rival Izzy's came into the store looking for a book and he said *ALEC* sent him
[aline]: what
[clary]: i KNOW. right. I did not know that was a thing for Alec. Maybe it's just Magnus is a thing for Alec? That would make more sense, I don't think he knew what he looked like at that point but MAGNUS HAD THIS LITTLE SMILE WHEN HE SAID aLEC's name and it was amazing and adorable and istg he's so beautiful i want his vests like all of them do you think if they get married I could borrow his vests?
[aline]: clary. You need to, idk. I cannot follow this story and if you don't figure it out I'm going to call you and if that doesn't help I'm going to call EVERYONE YOU ARE EVEN SORT OF RELATED TO UNTIL SOMEONE EXPLAINS
[clary]: NO you can't that's why I'm talking to you Maia went home to sle [clary]: sleep because Maia actually knows how to adult and Jace and Izzy are being like scowly because you know it's *Alec* and they're worried and Lydia is [clary]: Lydia more Alec's friend than my friend even though we are also friends and how does she make her hair stay like that do you think? It never falls out of those braids
[aline]: BREATHE
[clary]: ok
[aline]: drink some water
[clary]: ok
[aline]: try again
[clary]: so Alec has a boyfriend who he met via an accidental email message or something like in an actual freaking movie [clary]: and for their first date they came to THE HUNTER'S MOON AND SIMON'S GIG LAST WEEK
[aline]: why would anyone start with that
[clary]: and then they left early and Alec's was freshly shaved when he got to the bookstore the next *afternoon* like he had only just managed to get home and clean up before he had to show up and also he keeps smiling and I have a suspiciousness he hasn't slept back at his own place all week
[aline]: how did starting with meeting our family work, that's impossible
[clary]: I have no damn clue but we tried to tease him at dinner last week and now Maryse invited Magnus (that's the boyfriend in case I forgot that part?) to family dinner this week and apparently he said YES [clary]: IT'S BEEN A WEEK and ALEC IS BRINGING HIS OBYFRIENDTOD INNER S unday wait it's like almost three that's TOMORROW
[aline]: Alec's never invited anyone to a family anything ever. I've never even managed to figure out if he's ever gone on a date because wherever he goes it's not where any of us are. EVER.
[clary]: OH HE DATES NOW [clary]: I SAW THEM AT PANDEMONIUM TONIGHT AND I [clary]: they were *dancing* and I was maybe 4 people away and Alec didn't even notice [clary]: and Alec's my *brother* and they're boys but even I could tell they were really hot. as in people were staring hot and Alec didn't care
[aline]: holy shit
[clary]: like. I really don't want to know this about them but they may have had sex in the bathroom because let me tell you Alec was all blushing and dark eyed and hi's HAIR and you know that loose-happy-post-orgasm thing was going on with the dancing
[aline]: I don't want to know this about them or you that you would recognize that, you're twelve
[clary]: I am TWENV. I'm TWEMT fucking 21
[aline]: maybe he'd just had a drink and was enjoying a night out [aline]: ...
[clary]: yeah. Cuz that's not LESS WEIRD? Alec drinking and going out in public and not noticing someone he knows near-by? (MAIA. ME. we're not subtle) ALEC NOT NOTICING FAMILY? I HAVE NEVER. You have never. NEVER.
[aline]: this is the most disturbing conversation to be having. Especially with you
[clary]: WHY ESPECIALLY ME? You've known Izzy since she ewas actually a bb izzy and me since i was a teenager why'mI worse? [clary]: and i am not a virgin wtf aline you took me to the 18nighht at Galore togetherallthetime before you met Helen. And after you met Helen but before either of you had the balls to ask her out. Or the other her. Or you. I think I lost track of the nouns in that sentence
[aline]: drink more water
[clary]: k
[aline]: and then get some sleep
[clary]: BUT aLEC AND mAGNUS
[aline]: are adults and apparently very happy about that fact, they'll be fine
[clary]: but Izzy and Jace are being WEIRD ABOUT IT i need help
[aline]: why? How? What do you think I'm going to do from a different continent? And are you even going to remember this conversation after you get some sleep?
[clary]: that's why typing i can read it if i forgot
[aline]: uh. I think that's going to go a little differently than you expect
[clary]: oh, Simon's saved everysingle durmngdi drunk text I've ever sent him, this is way more like real words than usual
[aline]: that's terrifying I can't know that you're twelve
[clary]: stop saying that!
[aline]: you're drunk texting me about your brother's boyfriend [aline]: who you actually called both gorgeous and hot like he's a celebrity on a poster [aline]: stop acting like you're twelve
[clary]: oh [clary]: point [clary]: but
[aline]: and honestly considering Alec I think you're the one being weird [aline]: it's perfectly normal to be worried about someone doing something out of character
[clary]: ugh not you too [clary]: but the SMILES [clary]: the way they just. Everything. [clary]: I think they're soulmates
[aline]: there's no such thing
[clary]: I didn't think so either. but now?  [clary]: aw shit the tired hit I gotta go sleep [clary]: love you
[aline]: but [aline]: god damn it [aline]: I’m calling you back in six hours to wake you up and make you suffer
***
[aline]: I just had the weirdest conversation with Clary
[helen]: it's 3 in the morning there
[aline]: drunk!Clary. Not even why it was weird though. I think.
[helen]: what she's twelve she can't be drunk texting people on the other side of the planet, that's just wrong
[aline]: that's what I said!
[helen]: great minds
[aline]: hot bods
[helen]: 🥂
[aline]: 💕
[helen]: so what did drunk Clary have to say that was even weirder than the fact that drunk Clary was texting you from the other side of the planet?
[aline]: Alec brought a date to Simon's gig last week and they're going to family dinner Sunday AND they were apparently at Pandemonium last night. Alec didn't notice Clary. While he was dancing. In public. With some guy *Clary* called hot and gorgeous and beautiful.
[helen]: wtf Clary's possibly even more gay than you are. She and Alec are both solid sixes.
[aline]: I KNOW, RIGHT?
[helen]: I don't know what to do with this information
[aline]: exactly [aline]: and Clary was in all seriousness (I think) calling them soulmates and then she decided she was tired and stopped talking to me
[aline]: and it's 3am there everyone else is probably asleep  [aline]: I'm just staring at my phone. I feel like I should do something with all this? But there's nothing?
[helen]: so you had to share the WTF with me?
[aline]: obviously
[helen]: well [helen]: thanks? [helen]: but I'm at my stop so you're gonna have to figure out the WTF on your own for awhile
[aline]: but I don't wanna
[helen]: too bad
[aline]: ha. Just for that, I'm going back to bed. Blankets and pillows and that one line of sunlight that makes it through between the curtains...
[helen]: I hate you
[aline]: love you too, babe. 👋🏼
Vamp AU updates from Darla’s visit so I remember all the good stuff but also I’m too excited not to share but doubt I’ll cram it all into the next drawing’s description:
Evelyn, Octavius, Ricky & Tatiana are all vampires in the AU now, while Avery and Nicki are now part of the AU as humans! Ricky n Tatiana belong to @duck-n-clover!
Evelyn owns a goth nightclub/bar, with a secret (“secret”?) vampire underground scene, Ricky and Tatiana work there as well. Besides having to do a lot of important owner and manager tasks, she prefers to bartend more than anything. The club is occupied with 3 tiers, I guess. Humans who just like the vibe (they r valid), humans aware of the vampire community (usually wearing a subtle but unique accessory indicating if they're dtf/dtb(e bitten)) and of course the vampires themselves! Often marked with a blacklight stamp granting them into a vamp exclusive or vamp feeding zone! They may bring a human or unstamped guest into The Zone if they'd like, provided they know what they’re getting into. There’s another small room off of that featuring snacks, healthy drinks, and comfortable lounge furniture if any companions start to feel weak from the blood loss. The bar has a signature bright red cherry drink, to easily write off any possible stains or spills that could happen, though it’s usually dark enough in there and the crowd majority probably tends to wear black clothes.
Our vamps can transform into bats and also have an unrelated animal form they can transform into, though Evelyn just prefers to be a bat. She never really settled into one that feels right so jumps around, usually between common animals that won’t seem out of place. Dogs, cats and birds mostly. I don’t know when exactly she was turned but she stays very up to date on modern times, although she still sleeps in an old fashioned coffin when it’s not necessary. Is it just aesthetics? Or a reminder of when she was first made! A bit of both, most likely. Can’t stand sunlight for long, and isn’t really apart of a coven. She spends enough time around so many other vampires that it isn’t really a desire for her, though it’s true that she loves her friends and staff quite dearly.
Ricky is the entertainment/hostess buzzing around the club to make sure everyone is having a good time. However, she’s also a little goblin who may take a shiny piece of jewelry here n there, so, watch out. ;) Her animal form would be a squirrel. Can tolerate and indulges in human foods more than the average vamp. Tatiana is the security, and her animal form is a deer.
Evelyn meeting the whole crew because of the club isn’t really a surprise.. but I was trying to think what would make them so special to befriend out of all the other vamp covens she’d meet! I think what will end up happening is a little on the sad side but it’ll be fine.. Andre used to be in a no good spooky coven who Kinda left him for dead, then Levi Izzy & Lucky take him in and care for him, helping him get better slowly but surely. One night someone from his old coven comes back to the area, recognizes Andre at the bar as one of them and demands he come back. (Andre’s “branded” with a particular recognizable scar.)
Andre’s obviously upset and doesn’t want to, which makes the other guy mad. This of course draws attention, and it’s really not the ideal situation in the first place, but especially with some regular humans around. So while Tatiana does her job and tries to stop a fight and escort the bad coven out Evelyn also steps in to try and get the upset Andre to calm down, too. She takes him to a backroom until someone can come to take him home and they end up talking a lot while Andre vents about what happened. Evelyn blacklists a few vamps, and stays in touch with Andre n gives him special treatment next time he’s at the bar ‘cause boy has he been through a lot in this one. They are... buddies now.
Octavius was made some time vaguely between Andre and Nate/Kriss, but again, not 100% decided there. Was probably part of the navy at some point. Works at an aquarium now, just like in the regular universe. Can be out in the sun for stretches of time, long enough to get to work and retreat into the darker undersea exhibits for most of his shift without getting too drained of energy. Tries to keep up with the latest technology but looses himself for a bit and is always a little behind with things. Met Andre at the club and shares a bite to eat (*winks*) with him. (They were both thirsting after the same guy and his blood, is what I mean.) Andre’s a bit territorial? but eventually softens enough to get familiar with Tavey, bringing him back to the Vamp House to meet and befriend the rest of the mix n match. His favorite animals are of course octopuses... but you can’t always swing that transformation, so he defaults to a mastiff dog sometimes!
Avery is Andre’s human familiar, helpin him with daytime tasks n things. Kinda helps the whole mix n match if they needed anything but most of them can tolerate the sun for at least a little bit of time. Avery is just fine not becoming a vampire, seems like a messy life. Just picked it up as an odd job at some point! They definitely met the gang after Nathan and Kriss get turned, and maybe even close to when Nico was born!
Haven’t thought of Nicki’s role too much but she’s gfs with Evelyn still and might work at the bar as well. Definitely knows they’re all vampires, don’t worry!
Rewatch 110: This World Inverted
Look, I love everything about the Alternate Dimension. I do, it’s cute and fun and light. It also makes no sense whatsoever and I can only shut down my brain for so long.
Teaser
I like how playful and condescending Meliorn is this season. It goes to show how much his punishment will change his approach to shadowhunters in the later seasons.
Honestly, the explanation about the portal shard is such bullshit. “In our dimension, Portals can only open to places you’ve been to. In this other random dimension, there is one - and only one - Portal that can open to wherever you want to go. Convenient, hm?  But we will only use it once in this whole series. Never again. Not even when Valentine is an actual threat to the Downworlders all over the world in this dimension.” I know this gives us the fun Alternate Universe, but “this portal shard isn’t from a warlock’s portal, it’s a seelie portal and it works differently” is a much cleaner explanation.
Oh, look. Being self-righteous and taking things into their own hands have consequences. Clary and Jace are considered criminals. Izzy might face punishment if her involvement is found out. It seems Alec can’t shield you all from the Clave this time.
The shadowhunter culture is so dependent on their mission of killing demons that, once they do it, it ceases to exist. This notion is highly interesting to me.
Rules successfully established: let the episode begins!
Act One
So, which is it Alaric? Should Luke “let the pack handle” his problems or should he not involve the pack? Those are kind of conflicting ideas.
Raphael should never have kids. Or make fledglings. But Luke is a good father, so he helps Simon.
“Shadowhunters need Seelie permission to go through. Only demons can pass through un-aided.” Who the fuck created this rule? Like, in-universe. Who was the Seelie Monarch who thought: “Shadowhunters? Nope. Demons? Yeah, that’s cool.”
Also, lol at Meliorn. He was sending one barely-trained teenager straight to Valentine as retribution for her saving his life. No wonder the Seelie Queen was pissed. Terrible plan.
Act Two
I have so many questions about the Alternate Universe and they are not even about the huge plot-hole of Clary not having a brother and that brother “not” being Jace. How did Valentine and Jocelyn meet? Why do they not know Luke or Hodge?
I remembered it wrong. They didn’t recognize Izzy’s whip in the attack. Pity. Anyway, going rogue has bad consequences. What I don’t get is why this scene is focusing on Lydia so much. She gets the last word against Izzy, she gets the last reaction shot. I don’t care about Lydia. I care about Alec and Izzy. Show me them!
How does Clary know Simon, Alec, Izzy, and Jace? Don’t get me wrong, I love this scene. But how? Clary has a perfect family life, so there’s no need for Jocelyn to leave Valentine and go live close to where Simon lives. Clary meets the Lightwoods via being a shadowhunter and they are not anymore. Did they all go to the same high school?
Izzy is crushing on Valentine while dating Simon. The writers really hate Sizzy.
I thought we were done glorifying Clary white saviorism, but apparently not.
Luke was hiding from Internal Affairs? Since when? They let him go. We didn’t see him getting called back in. This comes from absolutely nowhere.
Act Three
Oooh. So, demons – who can pass through seelie portals at will – are attracted to the Alternate Dimension. This keeps getting more and more forced.
We all complain about Izzy’s casual racism played as badassery, but Jace just called Meliorn “Pointy Ears”.
The use of the cats as an anchor for Clary is incredibly clever. Not only it works in-universe as a difference between the regular dimension and the alternate dimension, it works as a cute wink to book readers. Not only fan service but also functional in the story being told. This is how well-done adaptation works.
“Head of the Institute hat off” is a weird line.
You know, Alec doesn’t come off as very likable for caring only about Izzy and not the fact that he was taking someone to be tortured. But he does come off as smart for knowing how easy it is to buy the Clave’s favor: Alec knows they will let high treason go if that means getting the Mortal Cup.
I enjoy this slightly different dynamic between Clary and Magnus. He has no previous ties to her, so Magnus doesn’t praise every breath Clary takes. He’s still helpful, but with a bite to it that makes watching them interact entertaining.
Just as Jace chose Clary over Alec, now Alec is choosing Izzy over Jace. He’s willing to break their bond if that means saving his little sister.
Act Four
Ignoring how Simon and Luke got that blood-sucking machine, this scene is silly on the right amount. Of course, good thing Simon can now control himself enough to act and get shot like ten times, no problem.
That kiss constitutes sexual harassment. Just saying.
There was all that talk about how the characters’ personalities were the opposite in this episode: like how Izzy is nerdy because Simon is nerdy, Alec is smooth because Magnus is smooth, etc. I don’t think so. I think this is the personalities these characters would have if they weren’t killing-machines or traumatized. Clary is the same. Simon is the same. Magnus, Alec, Izzy, Jace: this is how they’d be if the Shadow World didn’t exist.
Of course, Alec will force the Parabatai bond at the worse possible moment for Jace to be incapacitated. And that’s not even the last time Alec’s timing will be this convenient for the drama.
Oh, the scene that made the fandom think Raj is in love with Alec. Little did we know, Raj is just an asshole.
Act Five
Funny how Magnus performs magic in the middle of the party and nobody notices it.
Aw, Simon. You can’t eat real food anymore. It’s adorable that you forgot that.
Jace’s scared voice combined with Meliorn’s slap got me laughing hard.
Honestly, the convenient timing is pissing me off. Jace goes into the Alternate Dimension minutes before Alec arrives where he was. A complete coincidence. How many of those have to happen for this episode to work?
This is the toughest demon ever. It survived both Jace and Meliorn, and then it almost survived both Clary and Jace. It even poisoned Jace before dying.
Act Six
Stop. Changing. The. Rules. Blood travels through dimensions? Really?
I’m sad watching Alec apologize to Izzy but also, how attractive are these siblings? Honestly, this is ridiculous.
Valentine is such a Villain Sue, he had time to: 1. Notice Jace and Clary arrived by Portal; 2. Quietly, clear the lair from all the Circle Members; 3. Shape-shift into Michael Wayland; 4. Get very dirty; 5. Lock himself in a closet. All in the time it took Jace to activate his Iratze and get up.
There’s a long way out of hell
He'd been waiting for this chance for days. Watching demons and following them till he realized where was the place they used to get out of hell. Magnus was trapped in Edom. He had been taken by his father, then tortured physically and mentally after he refused to join him and fight for him. All that time Magnus had been trying to find a way to go back. He'd realized it might have been possible, when he'd found the place where the boundary between Edom and human world was the thinnest. So he'd started to spare his magic, refusing to fight demons back most of the time, protecting himself only when it was the most needed. He knew it wasn't gonna be easy. But here he was now, making a portal back home. He'd run away from demons that were supposed to keep an eye on him. He was slightly injured, but he was going home. The pain could wait.
He fell down with his face on the wooden floor. He looked up blinking a few times to adjust his eyes to the light coming out of the window. He recognized the furniture around him, the smell and the hardness of the floor. His loft. He rolled onto his back exhaling deeply with relief. He ran his fingers through his hair, it was covered in sand and dust. And then he felt it, the pain coming from the big wound on his ribs. He pulled his shirt up to see that it was worse than he thought it would be. He snapped his fingers to activate his magic, but it wasn't much left in him.
'Shit'
He got up carefully, hissing with pain. He took a few steps forward and leaned on the door frame. He was looking for his phone. He found it on the table, he sat down on the couch and choose the number to a person who could be helpful right now.
'Catarina?' His voice was harsh. He realized he didn't remember the last time he'd used it for something different than screaming out of pain.
'Magnus?! By the angel' She whispered with pure shock.
'Hey, I guess I need your help' Magnus answered looking again at his wound.
'Where are you?' Catarina wanted to ask so many questions, but it wasn't the time for it.
'I'm back, I'm home, but...' He didn't get to finish, because of the portal already opening on the other side of the room. Catarina stepped out and rushed to him.
'You're really back' She chuckled not able to decide between happiness or being shook.
'Don't look at me like that, I know I'm not at my best, but could you?' He said pointing at his injury. 'I'm out of magic'.
She automatically moved her hands and started to heal him.
'How did you get back?'
'Let's say I started to learn from demons.'
Catarina looked at him not knowing what to think about her friend's coyness, but she couldn't help but smile at the thought that it was so like him, so it felt just right.
'We tried to get you back, Magnus' She inhaled sharply, still working her magic. 'But we ran out of answers... And those years you were gone, we all thought you were dead.' She said finishing healing him.
'Wait... Did you say 'years'?' Magnus' face was showing nothing more than confusion.
'You don't know how long you were gone?'
'I....' He tried to make something out of the mess inside his head. 'I thought it wasn't more than three, maybe four weeks'
'It's been almost five years since you were taken, Magnus' She answered touching his hand.
Five years. The thought not really making sense in his brain. Did time in Edom really pass so differently? When he'd tried to get back he hadn't been thinking that for everyone it would be like he’d risen from the dead. He'd thought he was gonna go back home, to his Alexander, and his friends, and they would try to make everything go back to normal and... Then the realization hit him.
'Alexander, how is Alexander?' He asked pinning his eyes to her face.
'I haven't seen him in some time, I'm sorry. But I guess he's doing okay, he's still the Head of the Institute. Magnus, he really tried to find you, he did' She'd worked with Alec for some time when they'd been looking for a way to rescue Magnus, and she'd seen the determination which the Shadowhunter been trying to get his man back with. But somewhere on the way Catarina had realized she was not able to help anymore, so eventually she'd stopped. Slowly getting used to the thought she had lost her friend forever. And she was pretty sure Alec had done the same.
'Five years... It's hard to believe. So many things could change' Magnus took a deep breath leaning back on the couch, looking at his fingers, trying to collect his thoughts. 'Do you know if he... If he found someone new?' Magnus asked avoiding looking at his friend.
'I don't know' She answered honestly and shook her head.
'Thank you, Cat. For everything. But could I stay alone now? I need to wrap my head around all of it'
'Of course, I understand.' She got up, but before she made a portal, she turned around looking at Magnus. 'You can't imagine how happy I am that you're back. I missed my friend, Magnus'.
He pulled her into a warm hug. He smiled for the first time in a very long time. Actually longer that he could believe.
****
When Catarina left he walked to the bathroom, he took off his dirty and ripped out clothes and looked in the mirror. His face tired and covered in dust. A few scratches across his skin. His eyes restless. But that's everything that changed on the surface. He stepped into the shower and let the warm water wash him over. He'd thought that when he got home everything would be alright, normal. That the feeling of being helpless would disappear, but it was getting stronger and stronger every minute. He rested his head on the wall, feeling his muscles relaxing just w little bit, but it was the most relieving thing he'd felt in... five years. He'd just wanted to be himself again, to go home to his Alexander. But possibly Alexander wasn't his anymore. He'd probably asked for too much.
He chose his clothes- navy blue silk shirt, leather pants and a long, black coat. He put on his make up and styled his hair. He did it the mundane way, because there were still too little magic inside him. But he wanted to do everything he could to see Magnus in the mirror again.
****
He was walking down the streets of New York City. The realization of time that passed washed over him as he saw places that he'd used to be familiar with and he couldn't recognize them anymore. He was wondering if he was ready to face all the changes in the Shadow world and he knew that coming to the Institute wouldn't help with avoiding it, but it was exactly what he was doing right now. He needed to see Alexander. Magnus needed to know Alec was okay, happy. Even if he didn't need Magnus to be happy anymore. Because Alec was the main reason that Magnus’d kept fighting, that he hadn't given up.
He used the front door. His words still recognizing him. He passed by a group of young Shadowhunters. They gave him a glance, but they didn't do anything. And then he saw him. Alec was standing next to the table in the main hall. Izzy by his side, showing him something on the map of New York City. She smiled shaking her head and her eyes met Magnus'.
'By the angel' She whispered under her breath looking like she just seen a ghost.
Alec turned his head to see what she was looking at. His eyes widening with shock when he saw Magnus standing just 30ft from him.
Magnus didn't move a bit. He was drinking in the sight of Alec in front of him. How he missed his angel. His hazel eyes that always seemed to look through Magnus' soul. His long arms, his voice and smiles.
Alec rushed to him. Something undefined in his face. He stopped just a step away from Magnus.
'Is it really you?' Alec asked quietly studying Magnus' face. He wasn't sure he could believe his sight. He wasn't sure if it wasn't someone cruelly playing with the appearance of his lost lover. He didn't want to get his hopes up, but there it was- the flicker of expectancy of 'please say yes' in his eyes.
'I'm here, Alexander' Magnus answered with a soft, loving smile.
Alec's felt something warm tightening around his heart when he heard his full name.
He touched Magnus' cheeks gently, like he was scared his lover was gonna disappear like smoke or break like glass under his palms.
'You're here' Alec breathed out with watery eyes.
Magnus closed his eyes drowning in the safety and warmth of Alexander's hands.
Alec pulled him close to his chest like his life depended on it. Magnus wasn't sure if there was enough space between them to even take a breath. But it was just right. It was an embrace that screamed 'finally'. They stayed like this for a few seconds.
'How?' Alec whispered, his breath hot against the skin on Magnus' neck.
'I found a way to make a portal' Magnus said pulling slightly back to look at Alec.
'I knew we always find our way back to each other' Alec rested his forehead on Magnus'.
'Alexander...' Magnus connected their lips, the need too strong to care that they were in the middle of the Institute. Alec kissed back, softly but with all the love and passion he hadn't been able to show the past few years.
'I didn't know how long I was gone' Magnus said when they pulled back. 'When Cat told me it was 5 years I was shocked.'
'Cat? You already saw her?' Alec asked slightly hurt he hadn't been the first person to know Magnus was back.
'I called her to ask her to heal me, I used all my magic...'
'Are you injured? You okay?' Alec asked concerned, his eyes examining Magnus' figure.
'I'm alright, angel'
'You said you'd made a portal, but the warlock I talked to last week, he tried and it was impossible to portal me there, I...' The words were leaving Alec's mouth quickly, He started to wonder if he'd done something wrong, maybe he could have free Magnus earlier.
'Wait, last week? You talked with a warlock to help you go to Edom?'
'Thousands of warlock, but most of them didn't want to take the risk, or they said it was illegal or...'
'Alexander, it's been 5 years, you still were looking for me?' Magnus interrupted.
'Of course, how could I stop? The hope of getting you back was everything I had, everything that kept me from losing my mind' Alec shakes his head, like what he just said was the most obvious thing.
Magnus couldn't believe the amount of love he felt for his Shadowhunter.
He turned his head when he heard a light sob. Izzy was standing a few feet away looking at them, crying with her arms tight around her.
'Isabelle'
She smiled at him brightly and fell into his arms.
'Magnus, I'm so happy'
'I missed you too Isabelle' He smirked resting his cheek on her hair.
'Magnus?!' Clary shouted walking down the stairs. 'Oh my God, we all thought you were dead'
'Biscuit' He smiled as the girl walked closer to him. 'Biscuit, you're...' Magnus said surprised pointing at her body.
She looked down and touched her belly. 'Yeah, we're gonna have a baby'
'Wow, I guess more things changed than I thought. I'm happy for you, Clary'.
There were so many people that wanted to welcome him back, to talk to him, to ask him about Edom. He was happy to see them, to feel that he's really back, with people he cared about and especially with the man next to him. Alec hadn't left his side while people were greeting him. The Shadowhunter was touching his lower back or his hand, he was keeping his eyes on him all the time like the contact could reassure him that Magnus was really there.
But Magnus started to feel exhausted. He felt his body getting weaker. He needed to hold the table to keep himself from falling down.
'Magnus, what's wrong?' Alec's hand's were already on him.
'I'm just tired. There's a long way out of hell' Magnus teased.
'Can I take you home?'
'Yeah... Please take me home, darling.' Magnus answered.
They stepped into the loft. Magnus shrugged off his jacket inhaling the familiar scent of his house.
'Did you still live here?' Magnus asked realizing he hadn't seen Alec's clothes in the closet earlier.
'I... I still came here often, cleaning up, charging your phone, changing flowers in the vase,  changing sheets, making sure you would have fresh clothes and the make up stuff when you're back. But I just couldn't sleep here, not without you' Alec answered gesturing his hand.
Magnus looked around. He hadn't realized it at first, the loft wouldn't have looked like that if no one hadn't been here the past five years. Everything was exactly like he'd left it.
'You never, never cease to amaze me, Alexander'
He wrapped his arms around his Shadowhunter and placed a kiss on his neck.
Alec hugged back whispering into Magnus' hair:
'We're home.'
Not Ready to Lose You
Malec Drabble #15
“Magnus!” Alec could pinpoint the exact moment when Magnus lost consciousness, his knees giving up under the weight of his body. The rift was closed, thanks to his magic, but the demon managed to escape, almost taking Magnus with him.
“Magnus!” Alec called out again, crouching beside him and cupping his face in his hands. There was a small stream of blood on the side of his head, a shallow scrape, but no other visible injuries. Alec found his pulse and listened to his breathing, thanking the Angel for that even, steady rhythm.
“Alec, we need to move. There might be more demons around here.” Izzy spoke up from the other side of Magnus and looked him deep in the eyes. She was worried about Magnus, but there was nothing they could do for him. They needed another warlock.
“Wait.” Alec said, looking through Magnus’ jacket and pulling out his cellphone. “Magnus have introduced me to one of his friends. Catarina. He told me that if anything ever happened, she was the one I could trust.”
It was a long shot, but Alec had to try it. He knew that Catarina was actually one of Magnus’ oldest and closest friends and since he and Magnus broke up, she might not like to hear from him very much. But it was Magnus who needed her, not him.
“Catarina?” he asked after she picked up. “It’s.. It’s Alec. Alec Lightwood. Yes, Magnus is with me, but he’s injured. A demon attacked him and he’s not waking up. We’re near the rift the demons were coming from.”
There was a moment of silence and suddenly a portal opened not too far from them. Alec had only met Catarina once before, but he immediately recognized her long dark hair and the fierce look in her eyes.
She didn’t waste a second, coming to her knees next to Alec and running her hands over Magnus’ body. A bright golden-colored magic flew from her fingers, wrapping Magnus like a blanket and looking for injuries. It wasn’t long until the tension in her face subsided and she let her magic come back to her, leaving the wound on Magnus’ head already sealed.
“He’s okay. He had a minor concussion, but I took care of it. It’s not the reason he’s not waking up, though. With the amount of magic he used, I wouldn’t be surprised if he slept for several days.”
Finally, Alec could feel his heart slowing down as he let his head fall against his hands on Magnus’ chest, sighing in relief.
“Thank you.” he breathed out, looking at Catarina. Panic left his body and the lack of adrenaline caused a abrupt wave of exhaustion bear down onto him.
There was a strange look in Catarina’s eyes. It was irresolute, like she wanted to say more, maybe even yell at Alec for what he’d done to Magnus, but something was keeping her from doing that.
“You really do love him, don’t you?” she said at last, her voice coming to a whisper. Both her and Izzy were looking at Alec now, waiting for his answer.
“Yeah. I do. I don’t think I can live without him anymore.”
Catarina agreed to help them take Magnus to the Institute. Alec didn’t want to leave his side, but as a leader, he had to get back. After laying Magnus down on his bed, Alec returned to Izzy an the rest of the Shadowhunters, but every now and then he’d come back and check on him.
After couple of hours, they still haven’t heard anything from Clary or Jace. On one hand, it was a relief - it meant that everything was going as it should and Valentine haven’t completed his plan yet. Alec was relying on the Parabatai bond, which he shared with Jace, to warn him if something went wrong.
On the other hand, though, the waiting was slowly killing Alec. All the demons have mystically vanished and there was nothing they could do. Just sit and wait. In the end, it was Izzy who suggested he should take a break. He spent more time in the monitoring center than anyone else, going over the files and looking for something they missed, something that could help them take even a little step forward.
That was how he once again found himself in his room, watching Magnus sleep. He looked peaceful and content, not the way he should after fighting a demon. The covers were pulled up almost to his shoulders and even the smudges of his makeup seemed intentional. Alec has already stripped him of his jacket and his shoes, hoping to make him comfortable.
In contrast, Alec wasn’t feeling so well. He was tired and he could feel a headache creeping up on him, which is why he decided to lie down for a bit. Not slipping under the sheets, he laid next to Magnus and focused on his breath.
Even after Catarina’s assurance that Magnus was exhausted but alright, he couldn’t get rid of tense feeling in his chest. A calmer, more reasonable part of Alec was telling him that everything would be okay and it was only a matter of time, but the second, anxious part was screaming at Magnus to open his eyes.
Gradually, he found himself inching closer to Magnus. Resting his head on his shoulder, playing with the little arrow on one of his necklaces and listening to the beat of his heart.
It was one of the things Alec missed the most. Doesn’t matter how many times he woke up in the middle of the night, it was there - the low steady sound of his heartbeat right next to Alec’s, calming his mind and grounding him even during the craziest days.
It was hard to remind himself that it wasn’t his place anymore.
Dozing off, he felt Magnus draw in a deeper breath, one of his hands curling around Alec’s waist and caressing down his side. For a second, it was a sweet normal morning, like many that they shared in the last couple of weeks. As if nothing has changed.
“Alexander?”
Alec went stiff, immediately starting to pull away and muttering a quiet ‘sorry’. It was over the line, he realized. Of course it was over the line.
“Wait.” Magnus tried again, his voice hoarse and his arm firmly placed around Alec. “It’s okay, Alec. You don’t have to go.”
It made Alec finally look at Magnus, watching his slightly parted lips and the vertical pupil of his cat eyes. He probably wasn’t able to hold the spell, not yet, revealing their true form and Alec knew, he was one of the very few people Magnus trusted enough not to care about it. Or he used to be, at least.
“Thank you.” Magnus told him. “For not leaving me out there.”
“You know, I could never do that.” Alec said, letting their locked gazes linger. They both mirrored the same feeling - their problems couldn’t be solved with a kiss or sleepy cuddling session, but it was the look of ‘I hope we work things out’ that made Alec believe they still had a chance.
He wasn’t prepared to lose Magnus. And he never would be.
Here it is! ^^ I didn’t really plan on making it so long, to be honest. Does this even count as drabble anymore?
The kind of a reconciliation scene and the presence of Catarina happened out of the blue as well, hh. Today was full of surprises!
Also, my dad came to ask me something just as I was posting this and man I never clicked out of Tumblr so fast! It was even worse because I had a notebook with all of my notes on ALL of my fanfics opened and lying right next to me! He doesn’t speak english very well, but still it would get so awkward if he saw anything in there. Damn me and my straightforward notes, hh!
Read on Ao3.
