ch. 5 - november 1 masterlist
Tumblr media
"'how is married life going?' well, chat, it's interesting! i mean not much has changed, taxes were weird that's for sure," you sit in your office chair, one of your legs crossing the other, "but we've always been roommates so nothing different."
you search the screen, tossing a piece of grass into a lake of lava. minecraft isn't necessarily your best game, rin having only briefly taught you for a stream. however, sometimes, on a calm evening, you like to play a game and interact with your followers. especially when they start getting engaged with both the game and your conversations.
a new donation pops up on your second screen, the iconic voice reading out 'do you plan on admitting if the marriage is actually real...'. you widen your eyes, watching as the rest of the chat comments on the romance between the two of you. the countless videos, the closeness of the two of you, faking a wedding for a video. it just seemed all too much like coincidence for the people of twitch.
"no, no, trust me! i do really love rintarō, but the marriage was ultimately for a joke. it was my idea to do it and he was totally up for it. the only part really messing with the both of us was when it was revealed we couldn't get divorced," you shrug, shaking off the idea of legitimately being married to rin.
it wouldn't be bad, you figured. he was your first kiss (to make your crush jealous at the time), your closest friend, the one person you could binge a five hour youtube video essay with. being legitimately married with rin would be perfect, the only part would be him wanting to be married to. because truthfully you could never imagine him liking you like you like him.
the comments continue spewing the idea that the two of you just don't want your relationship publicly on the internet. now, of course you'd want to keep most of your relationship personal, but it's hard to ignore the thought of the two of you kissing for a video. "chat, if rin and i were to ever actually date or get married, you'd be like the last to know. so how about we leave it alone and play a little minecraft?"
you've very rarely had to put everyone in your comments in their place. however, the begging to know about your personal life with your closest friend strikes an annoying chord within you. especially if you don't know if you'd ever want that type of thing with him. but if you ever did, you don't want chat ruining that for you. luckily enough, the rest of your stream went as normally as it typically does.
when you take off your headphones, you can feel yourself already gaining some energy back. you love what you do, but sometimes answering all of those questions while concentrating on something else can drain you. so, you do what you always do after an honestly draining day.
you make your way into the kitchen and grab a few stacks, tossing them into a bowl and walking into the living room. on the couch sits rintarō who is binging another new show, feet resting on a small ottoman. when he notices you enter the room, he scoots over some to let you on.
  "how was the stream?"
"okay? i don't know, i just hate how incessant they can be on stuff they know nothing about. like our 'marriage', which they all assume was real and that's why we aren't divorced. like that's none of their business," you rant, unaware of rin having paused the show to bring his full attention to you.
like normal, you lay down on the couch, resting your feet on his lap. “well, i could always say something to my subscribers,” rintarō looks over at you, resting on of his hands on the top of your socks.
“you would? i don’t want to force that on you, i just feel so frustrated,” you frown, crossing your arms over your chest with just enough of a force to really show your feelings.
“yeah, absolutely. i mean it sucks that we need to, because we’ve said all that we’ve need to say, but i’m willing to do that for you. for us,” he shrugs, his hand rubbing the top of your feet in a soothing motion.
the stress leaves your system and you find yourself closing your eyes in relaxation. you open your eyes and peer over at the screen. on it is a new show that you’ve been meaning to watch, rin having just started the first episode. as soon as he sees the look on your face, he starts the show over and rests his cheek onto his fist.

Last year I wrote a story about a streamer who shrinks based on chat donations. I meant it as a one shot, but guys…. GUYSSSSS.
I think about this story ‘s universe a lot. I have lore notes just collecting dust and I need to share it or I might go absolutely mad XD Made these visuals charts to get the basics across but if you’re interested in my lore and semantic ramblings, feel free to read below the cut.
Consider this my unofficial pitch bible for Down Played.
General premise: Monica Diaz is Twitch streamer with steadily growing fan base. Her tag is MiniMushroom and her aesthetic is cottage core. She loves all things magical and tiny, especially toadstool mushrooms, that’s the image most associated with her “brand.” She’s approached by a mysterious benefactor who has developed technology specifically for Monica to test and utilize for her streams. It’s called Byte-Syzed Tech and it connects to a user’s twitch stream and based on the user’s preferences, gives the audience the ability to change the user’s height. The one shot I wrote takes place during Monica’s first live use of Byte-Syzed tech on stream. If I were to develop this into a full story I’d probably go back a bit and start around when Monica is first approached about using Byte-Syzed tech then continue to follow Monica adjusting to using Byte-Syzed more often. How she deals with the size change on camera, off camera, how her social and personal life are affected, all that good stuff. I think it would like a slice of life feel good kinda story.
Characters:
- Monica - Main character and primary user of Byte-Syzed tech. Surprisingly enough, she’s actually a law school grad who probably would have put her degree to use if she didn’t accidentally gain a massive following on twitch. Funny how life works out. She stands at 6’4 and always was fascinated with the idea of being small (Basically, she’s a g/t nerd who doesn’t know what g/t is) so being gifted Byte-Syzed and being able to use it on stream is kinda a dream come true.
- Kim - Monica’s girlfriend, roommate, and stream moderator. Kim and Monica were high school sweethearts but drifted apart in college due to personal matters in Kim’s life including having to drop out of college. Kim and Monica rekindled their relationship a few years later and Kim cites Monica and her encouragement as a big reason why she’s been able to get her life back together. She’s currently back in college working on getting her degree in Mathematics.
- The Twitch Team- Moni hosts solo streams but also very often collabs with three of her online friends. Ariel (@Lifeisthebubbles), a Vtuber who is the only one Moni has met in person. Corey (@McDonuts) an NB asmrist on youtube who started streaming games for fun. And Phin (@UrguyPhin) Corey's bf and the competitive gamer of the four. All three of them were streaming with Monica when she first used Byte-Syzed and have since gotten used to pausing their games so an ever shrinking Monica can adjust her set up.
- The Benefactors- Keeping their (Plural, there are two of them) exact identity to myself for the time being, but basically they’re mad scientists with the best intentions. Their antics have garnered attention across the internet as they have created and gifted inventions to up and coming online creators that seem to defy all laws of physics. Anti Gravity chambers, a literal money tree, a mask the morphs the wearer’s face, and now the Byte-Syzed size changing tech. Despite their inventions going viral, their identities have remained hidden. So what is their deal? They’re just big fans of these creators and for lack of drawing skills have gifted them weird inventions instead. Nerds… Due to the nature of Byte-Syzed and the possible effects it can have on the human body, Monica and Kim remain in close contact with them.
How Byte-Syzed Works in Universe: This I wrote tons of notes about when I first thought of the idea. Byte-Syzed can be divided into three key components; The program, the arm band monitor, and the sync suit.
The Program is installed on the user’s computer and connects directly to the arm band monitor and sync suit. The program has user friendly set up that allows the user to input the direction of height change (Shrink or Grow), The minimum or maximum height change, How height change occurs (By views, chat commands, donations, etc.), and rate of height change (How much height is gained or lost with each instance of viewer interaction.) EX: If height is based on donations, the user can set it up so they lose 1 inch for every 10 dollars donated. They can set the minimum height to 6 inches, so once they’ve received enough donations that they have shrunk down to 6 inches, Byte-Syzed will hold at that height. More donations may come in after, but the height will remain at 6 inches for the duration of the stream.)
The Arm Band Monitor, is the device the physically changes the user’s height after connecting to the Byte-Syzed Program. It also monitors and display’s the user’s current height and vitals. All data collected from the arm band will then be saved and can be referenced later if the band is connected to the computer. The arm band must be kept on at all times during active use and active reset of Byte-Syzed. Active use is the time in which Byte-Syzed is being used in a stream and the user’s height is actively changing. Active reset refers to time after the stream has ended and the user is either set at their new current height or in the process of returning to their normal height. After a stream has ended the user will remain at their changed height until they press the reset button on the monitor. Once the reset button is active, the user will return to their normal height at 1.5 times the amount of time it took to change to their current changed height. EX: A user has finished a stream that was 4 hours. They hit the reset button which will return them to normal over the course of 6 hours. (4x1.5=6) This only applies for time Byte-Syzed was in use, not how long a size change occurred. EX: If the user’s stream was 4 hours, but they reached their minimum height in 3 hours, the reset function will account for the 4 hours the stream lasted. This is a safety procedure to reduce stress on the user’s body. Note: If the reset button is not pressed, the user will remain at their changed height for a period of 12 hours. After 12 hours, the reset function will kick in automatically.
The Synchronized Suit or Sync Suit is directly connected to the Byte-Syzed program and will grow and shrink with the user at the same rate as the user. Normal clothing can be worn above it but they will not change size with the user, only the sync suit. The sync suit Monica received came with the suit, shoes, and a headset with a built in microphone to keep audio input even over the course of her size changing. More sync suits are in the process of being designed and produced, with the goal of making sync suits that resemble everyday clothing like t shirts or skirts.
Fun Story Ideas:
- Origin story. How Monica met the benefactors and was gifted Byte-Syzed, her and Kim’s gripes about using it, actually going through with it and the pros and cons she noticed, the end of her first size changing stream and dealing with being tiny in her own room and her girlfriend’s hands. Etc etc
- Monica finished a late night stream using byte Syzed and forgets to press reset when she goes to sleep so instead of growing back over the course of the night she wakes up at her tiny size. After realizing her mistake she begins the growth process but now has to do it while attempting to do her regular day time activities.
- Monica is approached by a doll company to collaborate on a new doll based on her, only issue, their studio is several hours away and they want her to model at both her full height and at the height of the dolls. After some consideration Monica and Kim decide to take a road trip to the studio and use Byte Syzed at the studio under Kim’s careful supervision. What could go wrong?
- Months have passed and Kim and Monica have grown well adjusted to the major size difference between them after Monica finishes a byte syze stream, however curiosity has gotten the best of her and Kim wonders what it would be like to be the tiny one for a change.
If you have read this far, you have my eternal gratitude. Thanks for reading this far, I really hope you liked it XD Maybe if time and motivation allows I can flesh the story out.

“Why Do Your Actual Play Videos Look Like Ass?”
ROUGH BUT FAIR
I got asked this, albeit indirectly, back in January. At the New Year’s Open Hearth Community meeting someone relayed they’d heard this comment about our Actual Play videos. This referred to not just my channel, but our community collection of actual plays built up over eight+ years.
It’s a lot of sessions. A lot of games. My stuff alone is over 1000 sessions over dozens of systems.
And it’s a fair question. They might stumbled on to one of our video roundups or seen a session shared. I can understand their reaction, especially if they’ve watched heavily produced and edited videos like those from Critical Role or Dimension20. Or even if they’ve followed one of the many talented teams who stream on Twitch or elsewhere with seasons, transitions, and nice visual templates. They’re all great watches– especially streams featuring indie games and diverse casts.
So what’s up with us?
Answering that question takes a little bit of set up and explanation.
The short answer: You know that reliable YouTube repair video recorded on a phone by someone in their garage? That’s us.
The long answer…
WHAT THE WHAT IS OPEN HEARTH?
We’re an online tabletop rpg community. We’ve been around in some form since 2016. Game facilitators post series and sessions on our calendar and people can sign up there. Every game’s run under our code of conduct and has to use a layered set of safety tools. Our GMs teach any rules and while we lean into indie and storygames, we also have folks who love OSR and more trad-leaning games (like my runs of 2d20, GUMSHOE, Imperium Maledictum, 13th Age, and the like).
We have a patreon which gives backers a 48 hour window to sign up for sessions before they’re open generally. But we also have folks running games specifically for new players which set that aside. We’re always looking for ways to get new folks into sessions– like the open gaming events we do a couple of times each year. After folks have played with us a couple of times, they’re welcome to post their own sessions and series. We also do irregular “Game Facilitator Camps” to help people learn and polish their online GMing skills.
Since the beginning some of our GMs have videos of our sessions and collecting those on our YouTube channel. Game facilitators mention in their event description if they plan to record. Not all sessions are recorded and posted. It’s not a requirement. In most cases, players can say they’d rather not be recorded– and in all cases a GM needs to confirm before posting any session publicly. For example a couple of times I’ve had folks ask for me to trim out personal info or emotionally fraught moments from a session.
All of these recordings are rough. They’re the raw play of the session: unedited and wysiwyg. I’m recording from Zoom, some folks use Streamyard, and a small group of the more technically savvy use OBS+. On occasion I remember to pause the recording over breaks or during character creation when everyone’s tooling away on their sheets. But generally it’s like sitting in the room while someone’s running a home game. They’re messy, mostly on topic, trying to get to grips with the rules, figuring things out together.
And I love it for that. They’re not polished. A comment made in connection with that “why do your APs look terrible?” question suggested we were some kind of ‘elite gaming association.’ I fear that impression might come from my posting a lot of game thinking, history, and analysis in our social media feeds.
The truth is that I post those things in a desperate bid to have content. In our community we mostly talk about what games we’re playing and what games we want to play.
Bottom line: we’re a bunch of folks getting together to play our elf-games, make silly voices, and try to tell fun stories together. We’re trying to do that in a way that’s inclusive, takes safety seriously, and evolves over time.
So why post actual play videos in such a state? I have some answers, in order from most important or probably least important…
FIVE REASONS
First, these videos shows how a particular game actually works at the table. Our community plays a lot of different games– I’d argue one of the largest collections of different systems. It serves as a great resource if you’re curious about a game, setting, or system. Most of us who record include our session zero as well as play sessions. So you get to see what’s involved with that, how to manage set up, and the kinds of collaboration which happens. You also see, warts and all, the rough patches and stumbling blocks.
For example, I love Hearts of Wulin, but building Entanglements takes a lot of work during character creation. Don’t get me wrong: it's also the most important. Entanglements up the conflicts and plots you’re going to explore. But it requires you to both do some heavy creative work and listen to the other players at the same time. Sometimes I manage that phase really well– sometimes I forget that it has a higher cognitive load. Then I have to lean in and help folks navigate creating those.
In a similar way, our AP illustrate the flow of play. What does resolution involve? How long does combat take? Where do folks get bogged down? That’s useful and can tell you if this is a game you’d be comfortable playing or running. Beyond that you get to see how much people seem to be enjoying and engaging with it. We present the naked truth of the game. All the rough edges remain and I think that’s great. It’s not for everyone— especially if you like a more polished presentation.
Second, you get to see safety tools in action. If you want to know how GMs carefully present a layered set of safety tools, watch a couple of session zeros. Different game facilitators will approach this in different ways, but we stress that GMs explain and actually implement a couple of tools. In my case I use Lines & Veils as a baseline, the X-Card as a reactive tool for resetting & calibration, and Open Door so folks know they aren’t trapped in a game. You can see how these tools don’t present a burden, don’t get in the way, and do enhance play. It reduces some of the worry people may have about joining a group of strangers online. It isn’t perfect, but these tools offer a baseline. I’m a white dude with all the privilege that brings, but I wouldn’t join in a random online game unless I knew tools like those were in place.
Third, like other online streaming games: curated, edited, or otherwise, you get to see good GMs and players in action. It’s a great way to learn and pick things up. Not necessarily the full-on art of theater and improvisational acting, but what good play looks like. How you move the spotlight around. How you work to bring others into your scenes. How you collaborate to build a setting and vibe. How you handle end of session debriefs and feedback. That’s useful and, I think, confidence building.
Fourth, and more selfishly, these videos are a decent advertisement for our community. It’s a decent and cheap way for us to keep our name out there. Beyond the videos, as I mentioned above, people can listen to these sessions as podcasts now. It’s also a way for us to boost the work of designers. It’s not a review, comment, or five stars but it does show how much we’ve enjoyed a particular game. I always dig it when I see designers resharing sessions, I hope it helps them increase their audience.
Fifth, I like having those videos out there because they celebrate our GMs. They’re the engine of our community: folks who enjoy running games and put in the effort to entertain and engage a group of folks. We have amazing game facilitators and what strikes me is how different their approaches can be. I learn something new whenever I play with another GM here.
But on a related note, I will admit that I like having cover for my vanity. By placing my sessions alongside others, I manage to conceal how much my posting these sessions is an act of ego. I’m more than a little vain about my GMing.
STARS AND WISHES
Overall we hope to be a useful and accessible resource for folks playing ttrpgs online. We hope folks will find their place in this hobby. If someone comes and plays with us, that’s great, but we’re more interested in just getting people to play anywhere.
If you want to check out our collection of Actual Play Sessions, like and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
If you’re interested in just listening to sessions, you can subscribe to our podcast.
If you want to see the Playabl calendar app we use for organizing
If you want to find out more about our community, see here.
We have Discord we’re working to do more with.

I just need to word spew for a moment, so please forgive me those who have no idea what I’m talking about 🙏
⚠️SPOILERS BELOW, BEWARE!⚠️
If anybody seeing this knows who Bards of New York are (who can be found at this link on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@bardsofnewyork?si=eqxsWcKuSXeEb5yh check them out they are SO COOL), and saw their most recent Regolus: Dark Age session, you’ll probably have an idea of what I am freaking out about. I will be diving in with no explanation to the uninformed of this Gospel™, so buckle up those who are still reading and have never watched any of their content before.
First of all, to start with the somewhat lighter topic of the amount of shipping content we were fed, it was absolutely superb. It was so so so awesome to see Katari finally get her feelings about Synnove across to Synnove, but was the amount of angst really necessary? I still break out in near tears thinking about Synnove’s desire for simplicity, and Katari not being sure she can give that but trying her hardest. As well, if you were watching the stream live on Twitch, you may have seen in the chat someone breaking down over how Katari is unsure about her ability to love Synnove in the way Synnove wants and deserves, and Synnove unsure she can really give all that much love to anyone after Stella left (which, Stella appearing as the Phoenix at the end and landing on [I think] Synnove’s shoulder is a whole different conversation to be had, which I have had an equal number of breakdowns over in the past few days). Their relationship has just barely started and it’s made me break into ugly sobs an ungodly amount of times.
Secondly, the elephant in the room, if you have seen it. Aelys and Godsleep fusing together, to have them hold off Hareem and his army of automatons? Full on ugly sobbing frankly, I am still in denial about everyone else escaping into the Faded Realm and Aelys had to stay behind to hold the line. All for the damned beacons, which are so important but I can still be Upset™! (I’m glad Jon can take a vacation, even though Aelys losing herself and having to take the most drastic option makes me cry). This chapter went so quickly from admiring their pretty outfits and solving a centuries old murder mystery, to the ultimate sacrifice for one’s friends and loved ones. AND WHAT MAKES IT WORSE (if that’s even possible), is that Bards, on their Instagram, recently posted a story with a clip where Damien began to make a tiara/diadem for Aelys :( It literally made me want to burst into tears when I saw it, because we don’t know if Aelys will ever get said tiara/diadem that she was actually decently excited for, LET ALONE IF SHE WILL LIVE OR HAVE ENOUGH OF HERSELF LEFT TO FIND THE GOLDEN SENTINELS AGAIN!!!!
Sal is still missing (Though Sons of Üthevhenan was ✨So Good✨), we have NO CLUE where Damien was during all of this, so he could still be just right outside Disterra to see/experience the combined force of Aelys and Godsleep going against Hareem and his army, though he could also be missing or kidnapped, and we’d have no clue! Now, Katari, Synnove, JB, Valor, Theagus, and Gold are all in the Faded Realm and have to somehow find their way back to Regolus, to hopefully make it to the next Lighthouse in time to get the next beacon, but the next Lighthouse could be the same thing again, with Hareem laying in wait to take the beacon as soon as they’re done! I’m also supremely concerned about what will happen with Sentinel Frontline, and just Regolus in general with the Golden Sentinels in the Faded Realm.
This is barely brushing the surface of all that’s been swirling in my head since Wednesday, and I can’t wait until next week to see what happens next.
Jon, and the rest of Bards, if somehow you happen upon this unfiltered stream of consciousness that was this post, you guys are amazing and frankly if I could play DnD with you all even once, it would be the opportunity of a lifetime. To Jon in particular, if you somehow ever find this, have a good vacation! We in the community will miss you and Aelys very much, but we will be fine.
If you’ve made it this far and you haven’t seen anything made by Bards of New York, what are you doing? If you enjoy DnD, which given by the tags on this post you might, GO CHECK THEM OUT!!!! They are such good people, and right now is a really good time to hop on the bandwagon and start catching up to the current point in their most recent campaign, Regolus: Dark Age! They are just starting Book 3 Wednesday next week which gives you some time to watch a few episodes to get a feel of what’s going on! They have an amazing community, and it is so fun and welcoming over there I promise you will not regret it. Though maybe don’t take the route I took where I watched 29 chapters in about three weeks, with videos ranging from 3.5-7 hours long. Anyways, if you’re reading this, go watch!! And even if it’s not your thing, you’ll have tried anyways.
TL;DR: The most recent chapter of Regolus: Dark Age by Bards of New York made me cry, and feel things, and get mad. Quite a lot.
Et Fin ✨

Big changes on the horizon! DotS updates and more!
Happy New Year!! With a new year in front of us, there's new opportunities awaiting us all! This year I've decided to finally go for it, and chase a dream I've been running away from for years!
I'm finally going to launch a YouTube channel sometime this year alongside dusting off my poor old Twitch account! Right now I've got a lot to prep, but this is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time, and never thought myself prepared or good enough for it. Well, last year was all about taking big leaps and just gunning for it, so that's exactly what I'm doing
The channel will (unsurprisingly) be about games, and bringing a new method of reviewing games based on multiple factors. Throughout the next few months, I'll actually be reaching out to gaming communities and asking you all various questions to help me identify different types of gamers! I'm creating a gamer spectrum and multiple profiles to help gamers find their matches.
No more confusing numbers and biased reviews! Finally asking the most important question at the core of every game: is it fun? Visuals, style, narrative (or the lack there of) can be easily cast aside if the core of the game is just fun! That's what a game should always be at base 💖
It's a huge ambition, aiming to shake up the reviewing world, but it's something I'm passionate about! I hope it'll take off, and inspire more people to give the system a shot. I don't plan to do it forever, and eventually move on to new things or just focusing on let's-plays (which I intend to do in addition to reviews, clips from Twitch streams and the like).
This is basically gonna be my day job that I'll juggle alongside my comic, and since I won't be under time constraints or physically exhausted, it shouldn't affect my comic any!
So how's DotS:MMM going to look like going forward?
My posting schedule for DotS:MMM is going to likely be 1 page a month for the time being until I can really make headway on pages! Frankly I've been stuck on one page in particular, since I've needed to remake it entirely, and it's been bugging me for months. I believe I've gotten something down finally, so with the Holidays finally behind us, I should finally have a bit more time to work on pages. My mobile tablet setup helps so much with my art away from my computer!!
My drawing energy has been really low in past months since it was so busy, but I'm getting the itch again as I'm shaking off the holiday glaze! You guys will know I'm back in action when a page suddenly appears, hehehee!
In conclusion—
The comic won't stop anytime soon, just pages are gonna be slow for a while! I have loads of graphics to make for my new channel, and I'm also making a Live2D model to accompany. My reasons for this is simply that I don't like putting my real face on the internet, and prefer my privacy, so I'm creating a cartoon avatar that represents me— much like Saberspark has, with still images in various poses, and of course an actual live model to represent my face on both videos and livestreaming. It's a lot to learn and program, so I've got a bunch of work ahead of me!
I'll do my best to involve you guys in the future of this channel, asking questions and what you all think I should name things for the channel!! You all have been with me for so long, it only feels right, y'know?
Anyhow, thank you so much for reading!! I hope you've had a wonderful New Year, and that great things await you on the horizon!💖

get to know your moots!! 💫
tagged by @dilfhuntersintl thank you! <3
what's the origin of your blog title?: i love joel. and i want him to call me his pretty princess. therefore...joelsprettyprincess. 🥰
OTP(s) + shipname: i spent SOO long in the genshin fandom that i am so turned off by shipping in general. however rn i am obsessed with 457 (squid game), butchlander (the boys), and hannigram of course. can you tell i like my yaoi as depraved as possible?
favorite color: PURPLE!!!!!!!! specifically a very light, almost grey/white shade of purple, kind of like lavender. followed by blue, pink, and black.
favorite game: 2 years ago it would've been genshin but i dropped it. rdr2 is deffo up there. stardew valley i have soo many hours in. the game i have the most hours in tho, is the sims 4. i have almost 2k hours and over 4GB of mods 💀 i've spent far too much money on that game..
song stuck in your head: songs are constantly revolving in my head. the last couple have been beverly hills by weezer, beating down yo block by monaleo, and von dutch by charli xcx.
weirdest habit/trait?: pretending im a superstar and belting out the lyrics to whatever im listening to 😭
hobbies: writing, binging tv shows (watching yellowjackets currently), videogames ofc, doomscrolling...watching movies when i feel like it, reading webtoons. im now realizing i need more offline hobbies.
if you work, what's your profession? rn im just focusing on school but i'll probably have to get another job soon 💔
if you could have any job you wish what would it be? ....twitch streamer or youtuber...it just seems so fun and i always pretend im streaming when i play games 😭
something you're good at: writing, i think?! i would like to write actual novels as a side job one day.
something you're bad at: locking in, prioritizing work over play. im trying to get better tho.
something you love: listening to music in the car. seeing my hard work pay off. when its rainy and sunny at the same time. rereading yalls comments on my fics 💖
something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: MY SIMS!! i've had a "legacy" family for generationsss, i think we're on the...eighth? maybe? right now my family is a super-smart professor who's the son of a pop idol, married to a gorgeous trans lawyer, and they have 3 kids plus a dog named carrot <3.
this is lowkey making me want to make a sims sideblog 😭
something you hate: tailgating when im already speeding. people with no ambitions or goals. strawberries.
something you collect: dolls, specifically ones with historical outfits. there's tons at thrift stores cuz no one else wants them 😅
something you forget: EVERYTHING. its actually annoying and im pretty sure its adhd or smthn but i dont have the money or patience to get diagnosed
what's your love language?: acts of service and gift giving.
favorite movie/show: shows? succession, the boys, squid game, bojack horseman...im sure im forgetting some. twd will probably be up there when (if) i finish it. movies: everything everywhere all at once is my fave, i also LOVE coraline and tangled.
favorite food: enchiladas. yum. they're so good...i love mexican food...
favorite animal: seals, tardigrades (THEYRE SO COOL LOOK THEM UP!!!!), cats.
what were you like as a child? super shy, super smart, always reading. simpler times..
until 6th grade when i discovered wattpad. 💀
favorite subject at school? english!
least favorite subject? math...im not bad at it, i just don't like it. at least it's straightforward, you can excel with enough practice.
what's your best character trait? i like to think i'm super funny but i can also give good advice.
what's your worst character trait? i am so, so cringe.
if you could change any detail of your day right now what would it be? i have an awful headache thats probably cuz i haven't had a drop of water today.
if you could travel in time who would you like to meet? anyone in history?! idk!! theres way too many people! maybe eve so i could tell her NOT TO EAT THAT APPLE. that's really the origin of all my problems 😓
recommend one of your favorite fanfics (spread the love!): ughh, i love so many. but there are two that equally live in my head rent free: strangers by wintrwinchestr and smother by beardedjoel. they both inspired me to put my writing on here and they're both crazy nasty and dark. 🤭
okay SO SORRY for yapping but that's what i do best! some tags, no pressure: @thoughts-of-bear @mssalo @buneio @lovely-vamp-princess

Do you have any nascar podcast recs? I listen to Denny's, disliked Door Bumper Clear, wasn't a fan of Dale Jr's, and want to avoid anything sponsored by fox
Wrt to NASCAR, I'll typically listen to Denny's podcast in the week. DBC I'll throw on if I need some content to listen to - as I did earlier today while playing some games - Dale Jr. I tried to get into but it's very guest dependent for me. My favorite podcast the last few weeks has been the Elizabeth and Ash Show with Elizabeth Blackstock and Ash Vandelay.
They tend to cover the main three racing series from a US perspective - F1, NASCAR, and Indycar - and I've enjoyed all four episodes so far. They record on twitch on Tuesdays and post it as a podcast later on, so I'm actually planning to try and catch it live tomorrow and see what that's like.
Outside of NASCAR in particular, I typically get my Indycar fix from Off Track with Hinch and Rossi to hear from the drivers, and Marshall Pruett's podcast for more of a news type show. For MotoGP, the Race MotoGP podcast is my favorite, I'll also listen to Oxley Bom and to a lesser extent OMG! MotoGP. For F1 I'm sorry but I don't follow it too closely anymore. I suppose I'm still subscribed to the Race F1 podcast, but I haven't listened to it in a very long time. The Tom Clarkson interview series - Beyond the Grid - they have on youtube is pretty interesting, I listened to the one with Juan Pablo Montoya rather recently and I thought that one was great.
Hope that was at least somewhat helpful!

I really do need to stop wasting so much time watching twitch and youtube. It's all I've done since coming home and I'm sick so that's fair since I lack energy for anything else.
Just I can't keep living like this if I actually want to get anywhere in life. Parasocial relationships can be poison and I want to spend a hour reading a new book or something then watching so and so play a game or podcast or something.
It's weird to think I wanted to be a streamer years ago. The idea just makes me go bleh now. Not that I have the personally for it anyways as I learned when trying, but if I ever make online content I want it to be encouraging people to make healthy changes in their life. Need to get there myself first.
I get the need for streamers and I won't ever fully stop watching them since theres tons of creativity out there, but holy shit twitch is a black hole of wasting time. I guess for me I want to engage with less content and more art or self improvement. Do I really need to watch a hour long Playframe video when I can read mistborn for an hour? One will be far more fulfilling but fuck it's hard to break the FOMO when you're so engaged with people I'll never meet.
I'm weird in that I'd happily work some normal ass job and use my free time to make art. A normal job, as shitty as they may be compared to the fantasy of playing video games for a living, comes with certain guarantees and assurances.
Retail sucks but each week my paycheck is consistent and I'm lucky enough to have a union which at least keeps me from being fired for any random reason, like being trans. Youtube and twitch as a living is just to sporadic with money for my liking as my main income. Seen so many streamers struggle with suddenly not making ends meet. Even Mega 64 who have been around for 20 fucking years almost shut down earlier this year despite going that long.
idk I guess I just wanna improve my life. Exercise. Get fit. Eat better within the bounds of what I can afford. Less Let's Play number 52, hour long videos while I lurk reddit reading bullshit and more original books or games or films that tug at the imagination.
I want to write to, but of course I'm so slow on my own worldbuilding and lore bible which I know I need fleshed out before I start seriously. I'm aware that's bad practice for a new writer, but it's my method and I'm sticking to it for this first attempt anyways.

Bridgerton is just socially acceptable Jane Austen Fanfiction, change my mind.
I have a friend who is really into Dungeons and Dragons and one of the most interesting things I’ve learned from her because of this is how mainstream role playing games have become. There’s a TV show on Amazon Prime called Vox Machina that’s actually based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign called Critical Role that was streamed on Twitch and as a Podcast on Spotify. In other words, a game of roleplaying between a few friends has become a popular TV show for people who don’t even roleplay to enjoy. Naturally, when I heard about The Good Society, I was curious to see what content is out there on the internet. So, I searched it up on Spotify and, lo and behold, a podcast of people playing The Good Society does exist. Each episode is approximately 4 hours long, and I unfortunately do not have the time to dedicate to listening in full. However, the latest episode (from December of 2020) is titled “Zombies”, so I had to at least give it a brief listen (Here’s a YouTube link to a video of them playing through this episode, but I listened in Podcast format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TiAgFD4DMw&t=9256s). In the episode description itself it’s called a “one-shot” which I feel like I only ever hear applied to fanfiction (more on that later though).
I started by listening to the first 10 minutes. In those we got an ad break, a brief introduction of the players, and also a song meant to give an overview of the game containing the lyric, “ballers gonna ball”? Then they start to move into the full description of characters, kind of along the lines of what we did in class today. At this point, I learned that they were combining legitimate expansion packs with names like, “Sense, Sensibility, and Swordsmanship” and “Pride, Prejudice, and Practical Magics”. I really needed to see what was going on when they threw all these things together so I just skipped to a random point in the podcast and tried to figure out what was going on. I landed around the 2 hour and 33 minute mark where they are in the letter writing part of the game. This was really interesting because the letters are very “in character” interactions where the players are all talking in accents and using not super modern vocabulary where the rest of the game seems like just a lot of friendly chatting and hanging out. I stuck around just for long enough to find out that they’ve come up with a character who’s going to bring some zombies into the house that’s central to their game. At this point I’d listened to ~30 minutes of this episode so I called it a day, but it was definitely fun to listen to them really get into character and then work together to set some things up and then get in character again and it kind of made me want to play too.
All I could really think the whole time I listened (and when I first was reading about this game) was that it felt very fanfiction-esque? These characters felt a little more different from Austen characters than our characters, maybe because the players are more experienced and had more time to develop the characters’ personalities, but when we were playing in class today, I felt like if you changed a few names we were just writing Elinor Dashwood/George Wickham fanfiction. When I first heard “Jane Austen roleplay” I thought it was a crazy idea, but the more I learn about it I feel like it’s just Jane Austen fanfic in a collaborative way and I kind of love it.
Having heard about the Dungeons and Dragons show I started to think about what a The Good Society show would look like, but then I thought: Bridgerton exists. Would the writers of Bridgerton call what they did roleplaying? Probably not. But I bet they did sit down together and do almost exactly what we did in class today, coming up with characters and relationships and finding ways to sort of connect them based on that. That kind of got me thinking about the like levels of social acceptance of these things, so I made a meme.
Tumblr media
The template here being where as you go down the diagram the description is supposed to be of cooler and more “mind-blowing” things, but all of the items are sort of interlinked as like small steps up from one another. Seriously though, why don’t we call Bridgerton Jane Austen fanfic? I don’t mean to suggest that all regency-themed things are Jane Austen-based; she did not invent the regency. But, the tropes and character hallmarks utilized by Austen show up again and again in fanfic, in romance novels, and yes, even in Bridgerton, whether it's in the meddling mother characters or the brooding rich men. I'm not sure whether we like to pretend we're totally original or admitting to writing fanfic is still too socially unacceptable, but on some level, the background in which modern-day regency romance is set is the world created by Jane Austen, and I think as long as the regency romance genre is around we’ll always be able to find a new bit of Austen within it.

Hey, Guys, Gals, Demons, Ghouls and Multi-Fandom Fiends!
This isn't a theory as a matter-of-fact it's going to be long but I need to get this out there. So, I have been on this decision for the past week. And here it is. So, we all know what's been going on with the whole William "Wilbur Soot" Gold situation that's been all over YouTube, Twitter, and just about any other Social Media Platform out there. I'm 100% behind Shelby/Shubble. I think she was very brave in coming out against what she experienced so, please go show her some support.
With that said, I know many people on here have either made the decision to either,
A) Orphaned or Delete their FanFics that have c!Wilbur Soot in them. If have decided to do that, your decision is valid and I fully respect your decision.
B) Have decided to stop writing anything with c!Wilbur Soot in them. If you have decided to do that, your decision is valid and I fully respect your decision.
C) Have decided to continue to write c!Wilbur Soot because it was never about the Content Creators, but the Characters that we, the fans, have created ourselves. If you have decided to do that, your decision is valid and I fully respect your decision.
So, with that said, I'm sure many people have been wondering about what I'm going to do. Here's my decision on this.
What I'm going to do:
I'm going to continue to write. Tommy Innit's Secret Clinic is still going to be written. As selfish as this is going to sound, it was never about the Content Creator William "Wilbur Soot" Gold who owns the YouTube/Twitch Channel. But it was always, always, always, about the character he played. I love c!Wilbur Soot from the Earth SMP, Dream SMP, and Origins SMP. I even love the character he plays in Sorry Boys. And that's the Character I will be writing!
I know when I first joined the DSMP, it was already starting to go downhill. By that time, Covid was over, and the "Over Night Success" of the DSMP was over for a lot of fans. To the point, if you were still a fan of the DSMP during the Prison Arc and beyond then you were in the "So 5 Minutes Ago"/Cringe Territory. I also know that serval people have stopped writing, and got out of the DSMP/MCYT Community when Technoblade passed away. I can't blame them since many fans started watching the DSMP b/c of Techno and why bother watching something if the reason you even started is no longer there. I fully respect everyone's decision on that. And I know now that so many people will be leaving b/c of this being the "Last Nail in the Coffin" for a lot of people. Again I fully respect your decision if you decide to never write c!Wilbur Soot or just straight leave the Fandom entirely.
But I'm not. I'm not leaving. c!Wilbur Soot belongs to us fans and yes, this is 100% selfish of me, but I'll be damned if I let someone take away something that I find so much joy in doing! I've been writing FanFicion for the last 30 years and have been posting for the last 20 years.
I've been in many different fandoms and yes, many of them have had pretty toxic gatekeeping fans. But for once with the DSMP, I actually felt well safe for my writing. I didn't have to worry about if I was writing the Character right or not.
So, with that said, Tommy Innit's Secret Clinic is still underway! I have a few more chapters already written but it's going to be a major story and for once, I'm fucking motivated to finish this! For once, I'm not four to five chapters in and can't seem to figure out what to write b/c I'm so stuck on what others kept telling me how to write certain characters. But with this, no one's doing that. I want to write to these Characters how I want to write them!
I am NOT supporting the Content Creator! This has always been about the Characters. As far as I'm concerned, William "Wilbur Soot" Gold can go step on a pile of Legos for all I care!
However, with Tommy Innit's Secret Clinic, it's going to be until Summer that I will be able to fully start to update again. Right now, I think I'm just going to concentrate on School since my class started a month ago. And I might be focusing on other Writing/Art Projects until then.
So, when Summer hits, expect to see updates for Tommy Innit's Secret Clinic! Until then, Guys, Gals, Demons, Ghouls and Multi-Fandom Fiends! I'll see you later! HAPPY CREATING!

So I have not the first idea what critical thingy-bob is but I've just reread all your Witcher fics and it's not enough so clearly I'm going to have to follow you into a new fandom. Is there a primer? How much do I need to know? Is it like OG Bandom where a hundred fics in I'm still not sure how many bands there are? Or Teen wolf where I couldn't quite face the source material at all but feel like I have a handle on the whole set up?
:deep breath:
Okay, so! Critical Role is a long-running Actual Play show on Twitch/YouTube--each episode is three to five hours of watching a group of voice actors sit around a table and play Dungeons & Dragons. All of their main D&D campaigns take place in the world of Exandria which they have created for these games, and as the campaigns go on they connect to each other in various ways, so it does all become one vast interconnected story. Critical Role has a good wiki that gives overviews of all of this stuff and links to videos, but just so you know where to start looking and how it all relates...
Their first campaign began as the home game this group of friends played in their spare time for a couple of years before they turned it into a Web Series (largely, they've all said, so that they'd have a reason to definitely get together and play every week). That first campaign, Vox Machina, is currently in the process of being adapted into an animated series, with two seasons available on Amazon Prime: The Legend of Vox Machina.
Currently, Critical Role is running its third main campaign, Bells Hells, which started in the fall of 2021 and shows no signs of ending anytime soon.
The second campaign, which began in 2018 and ended in the summer of 2021, although there continue to be shorter bonus episodes, is the one my currently-posting sex pollen fic is about, and it's called The Mighty Nein. My fic is set fairly early on in the run, and this is the official artwork of the main characters at that time:
Tumblr media
Left to Right: Mollymauk Tealeaf, Beauregard Lionett, Fjord Stone, Frumpkin the Fey Cat Familiar, Caleb Widogast, Nott the Brave, Jester Lavorre, and Yasha Nydoorin.
The entire run of The Mighty Nein's campaign comprises 600+ hours of videos (also available in podcast form) but if you want a quicker route to getting an idea of the story of it all, you can read the recaps or for the even shorter short version, watch the animated recaps which compress the whole story into about an hour of cute animatics voiced by Critical Role's official Lorekeeper, Dani Carr.
I hope this helps!

Hey, Darling! Currently this account is under full management by me for a bit! This is Jackie! I was wondering though if I could ask for a MCYT match up? (Excluding Wilbur Soot after all the drama that erupted this year) ((Also, warning for some stuff that isn't accurate, but it'll help stuff flow easier, that stuff with have two ** at the beginning of said sentence and end with a single parenthesis)) Not quite sure on how much info I'll need, but I'll put as much I feel comfortable with! Okay, so to start with my looks, I'm about 5'4, with brunette hair. My hair has slight curls, but only on the ends of my hair. I have curtain bangs of which I frequently style. I have clear, square framed glasses, light skin, and freckles mostly on my nose and the apples of my cheeks. Moving on from looks (style will have more description later) some of my hobbies! I really enjoy archery, pottery, and Greek mythology. I love, love, love to read. One of my favorite authors is Rick Riordan. I have every single one of his books. Like literally, I will walk into a book store for one book and come out with 15+. So obsessed with reading. **I make storytime tiktoks, and have a decent following. Same with twitch). I own a pottery wheel, and I make a lot of clay pots for fun, I never actually fire them in a kiln. I have a little section behind my house for arrow shooting and archery.
My love language is very clingy and anxious. I send long paragraphs, I double text, and if I don't get a response in 48 hours without warning I will spam in a sense of care. I really like stealing hoodies, sending mirror pictures, and cuddling. I overall though, around people I'm comfortable with, very happy and uplifting and usually less anxious, except with lovers, then it goes back to panic. I love calling and texting, sending lovey dovey spotify playlists, and sharing pin/tiktoks/youtube shorts to my partner and stuff of the similar.
My style is decent. Not amazing, but it works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This sums it up pretty well. The outfit that fits what I wear majority of the time is 2, 1 is more of so parties or hangouts, and then the 3rd outfit is for events like a dinner or something of the sort.
Overall, I am a very energetic type person. I'm very uplifting, sassy, caring, and just excited to meet new people. I could enter an event with an old and relatively empty phone and leave with 10 new contacts to chat with. I can be oblivious to things like flirting, but I am very academically smart.
I'm not sure how much you can use with this, but I tried <3
Take your time getting to it!!!! (If there is anything you feel uncomfortable responding to in the matchup, please just ignore it and proceed with writing what you feel comfortable with)

let me put EVEN MORE PRESSURE ON YOU! Our second session is TOMORROW NIGHT!!!! And yeah 100% all the times as a player (my DM, before the campaign was scrapped, was a SAINT and I'm so happy he's at my table as a player this time around) was mostly just to see what shenanigans uncovered plots or that I could get away with. I was chaotic in trying to dig up plot (it didn't help it was my second campaign EVER so I was not the best at picking up plot hints that were dropped in front of me) I played two characters in the campaign, a druid and a wizard/rouge. My sweet children, I love them both dearly. The campaign may have ended but they live rent free in my head.
Druid - Uncover a plot hook early as a cat dramatically trying to get attention from a stranger in an alley, sneak past guards without being questioned as a cat mysteriously in an underground villain lair, CONVINCE AN OWLBEAR TO SPARE US???, Strike up a deal with a dracolitch (though I think the DM wanted That outcome, but no one else did), Strike up a deal with MOTHER NATURE, and try to hide a murder by burning down a house (it did not work)
Wiz/Rog - instead of writing out the list, I'll just write to you her introduction to the party: basically my PC steals baguettes from Sargent Armstrong (but french); runs into the group but gets snatched TM by our shifter fighter, interogated, has the best conversation ever ("You know, other people sell food here!" "I am the! Only! Baguette! Person! Here!" "Mmm."), two of the party members are about to pay on her behalf just to no longer be implicated, she casts cause fear on the guy and he sprints (and the party blames the wizard for it), and then SPRINTS INTO A SCHOOL SHE DOES NOT GO TO, GETS FOLLOWED BY WIZARD AND SAID PREVIOUS FIGHTER, DISGUISES HERSELF AS A STUDENT (THE BUFFEST ORC KNOWN TO MANKIND) AND FUCKS WITH THE FIGHTER JUST CAUSE as in the fighter rolled SO LOW
I'd recommend dnd but ONLY like,,, with your friends - new tables/playing with strangers is scary, especially bc the game's... old; I could go off on the racism and sexism baked into 5e and especially the earlier editions for WEEKS asdfghj so you gotta find a table/group that agrees with you, yk? ALSO!!! I saw on twitch/tiktok FOREVER AGO someone actually made a Genshin TTRPG System! Aka you can play DnD in the world of Teyvat as vision holders! There's a few, but the one I saw is "Roll to Ascend" on Youtube
-Lucky
Answering these out of order but how did your second session go if you remember? Aww, I'm sad that the campaign ended but I guess every story needs an ending. I think bittersweet nostalgia is the worst and best feeling ever because you're happy it happened, but sad it ended.
If I ever brush the dust off my Baldurs Gate save file, I will put all my stats into charisma because speech is the most OP thing ever. But I think the funniest part of listening to DND stories is that you take all the crazy events and condense them down. So to me, this sounds like you did all of this in a day rather than several campaign nights (or maybe you did do all of this in a night. That would also make sense).
I have a friend group that plays DND but I don't think I'd "fit in" with them. Not that they are bad at DND or I think they wouldn't accept me, but I feel like I'd need to find the right people to be okay with it. New tables are scary as hell because I have no idea how much rp they do or if I'm doing too much rp. I will check out that youtube channel tho :0 my friend actually recently recommended me a DND podcast that he listens to.

Quitting RoR2 Modding
(posting this in case anyone who plays my RoR2 mods isn't in any of the discord servers lol)
So, basically, yeah, I'm done with Risk of Rain 2 for good. Don't wanna associate myself with the game. Just really want it gone from my life. I don't want to think about it.
All of the mods I made out of my personal interest are now marked as deprecated, and potentially will even be deleted later. The only things that will stay are projects that were either made for friends, had contributions from more than just me, or are funny enough that I feel like they should stay.
Why? For a lot of reasons.
The Community Manager
So, SeventeenUncles (or Suncles, as we all call him). The guy may seem like a chill person on the twitch streams, but god. He's Bad at server moderation. Everybody in the server knows it. And if somebody has any kind of complaint about that moderation, he silences all the critique and tells to open a ticket via Modmail, which will not result in anything because why would he care lmao he's the community manager and he makes all the rules.
Like this one. I wrote a proper, consise ticket about my mute (which was unfair, by the way!), expecting to either get unmuted or at least get a response or have a conversation as to why they think it was fair. Guess what I got.
Tumblr media
you're welcome suncles.
There's a lot of problems with how he's running the server, which I'm not gonna talk about, because, luckily, someone else has already done it, in detail! https://www.tumblr.com/gabrielultrakill-bigboobs/723312859455651840/the-official-risk-of-rain-discord-and-its-hellish?source=share
A lot of nasty stuff. In the official server, mind you.
But yeah. He represents the company Hopoo Games, and who am I to support a company with a prick as their representative :)
The Community Itself
Now, I know this is a dumb reason to quit over, but it's not the reason. It's just one of them.
It's toxic. Elitist. And, most importantly, way too controllable. We have, like, 4-5 mainstream content creators, and almost all of them manage to give the worst tips to newbies despite sinking hours into the game and, supposedly, having a lot of experience and knowledge.
It's so bad to the point where some youtubers call out the wiki for giving "false information", so their fans go on the wiki and make edits while parroting whatever Mr. Youtuber said.
Picture this: you're a new player, and you have unlocked a hard character. You struggle with them, so you go to the wiki, and the first thing you're told is that you actually need to unlock a different ability for them to make them playable. And only 7-8 paragraphs below, the wiki tells you how to use the base abilities properly. You know. The ones that you have right now, as a new player. While also making them sound weaker than they are in reality. Doesn't this sound like imposing someone specific's preferred playstyle onto everybody else?
Constant arguments. You open the discord server, or the subreddit, or a youtube video, just about anything, and you'll see people disrespecting each other over a video game. These arguments usually stem from someone being incorrect, them getting corrected by others, and that person fighting until the end of times just to prove that they're actually right, because, for some reason, they can't accept being wrong.
And I kept seeing these arguments. Engaging in them. When you want to interact with the community of a game on this scale of popularity, you just can't not encounter the bad parts. Statistically impossible.
Oh, and you know why the community partially is like that? Because the devs and the moderators are fine with that behaviour. The devs are known to be all mean and like "massive trolls" or whatever. Meanwhile, you don't see this shit happening in the A Hat in Time or Celeste servers.
Other Projects
Lastly, I've been meaning to quit RoR2 for a long time now. I want to move on and do something else. I've been making RoR2 mods for 4 years now, I think? It's a shame I have to leave like this, but eh, whatever.
If you're reading this, I hope you're doing well! I'm doing well, because I got rid of the part of my life that's been bothering me for way too long :3 See ya in other games that I'll mod!
