Clone^2 - Separation Strikes
"Why do I have to go?" Damian asks, surly and accent-thick, it sounds more like a demand and a whine at the same time. Sitting on the kitchen table with his arms crossed, in a green t-shirt that Danny bought him at a whim when he was at a thrift shop, and black shorts, he's never looked more like a kid. There's a little backpack leaning against the table leg, Damian begrudgingly picked it out when they went shopping.
His English has grown in leaps and bounds since Danny found him -- er, or more accurately; since Damian was spat out in front of him. -- and very little did they have to use the translator on Danny's phone these days.
Which meant one thing: Damian can start attending school comfortably now. And 'go' was the Amity Smiles Child Care Center. Danny and Jazz went as kids until they were twelve, and Mom and Dad actually managed to convince the center director to let Damian enroll for the summer.
And it was summer; Damian starts today.
"Because," Danny says, trying and failing to hide the smile pulling on his face, his heart warm and soft, and also laughing at Damian's expense; "being cooped up in the house all day isn't good for you, and you're starting school in the Fall. And, in Jazz's words: you need to have interactions with other kids your age for the benefit of your social development. And besides, it's only for the morning."
Damian's nose scrunches up, and his eyes roll so violently that for a moment, Danny thinks about joking that he'll get his eyes stuck like that. He holds his tongue; his little brother already looks like he's five seconds away from committing an act of violence.
"I don't need social interaction." Damian sneers, his cheek in his hand; a neverend pool of pride. "I am--"
"The Blood of the Demon Heir, better than everyone else." Danny cuts off, waving his hand in dismissive circles, his voice mockingly deep. Damian's brown skin darkens in embarrassment, and he scowls at Danny. "I know, bud. But Jazz is right, -- don't tell her I said that, -- you should be around kids your age."
Especially when he starts First Grade in the Fall. Honestly -- Danny was a little nervous to send him to the center. Damian's long since cut the habit of trying to kill or otherwise maim people, his palms ache-burn with gentle reminder, but his tongue was as sharp and as cutting as his sword. He still struggles with trying to quell it when he's upset. Vicious child-weapon that he once was, and will never be again.
Danny knows that it comes from a place of fear and defense, that Damian lashes out because that's what he's been taught. That at the end of the day, he doesn't really mean what he says, and he's learning to express himself better. But the other kids don't know that, and kids can be unforgiving and cruel.
Danny just...
His slow beating heart sighs, melancholy settles behind his lungs.
He doesn't want Damian to be outcasted. He doesn't want him to be alone.
Not like he was.
Damian sneers again, but says nothing, his shoulders crawling up to hide his ears like a turtle receding into his shell. Danny watches him silently, leaning against the kitchen counter with his own arms crossed. The clock hanging on the wall ticks in their ears -- it's almost time to go.
He watches Damian, careful, and so he sees it when his little brother's stone-shell pride and petulance shudders, and cracks. The darkened furrow of Damian's brows weakens, and for a moment, slants back.
Ah, Danny thinks, his own shoulders slumping. Epiphany washes over him, and his sad-heart soothes in warm understanding. So that's what it is.
His head tilts, and his hair spills over his shoulders, messy and fluffy, tickling his neck. Some of his bangs fall into his face. "Hal 'ant easabiatan ya habibi?" He asks, voice low and soft. Just as Damian's English has improved, so has Danny's Arabic. He still stumbles over himself some days, and Damian says his accent is trash, but they can have whole conversations now in Damian's mothertongue.
(Danny was incredibly proud of himself for it.)
Damian's face darkens, his blush spreading across the rest of his face, and he ducks his head down. Grown-out curls, black-brown and springy, falls over his eyes. "La!" He yells, loud and indignant, and not at all convincingly. "La 'asheur bialtawaturi!"
He was nervous. Danny can see it now, in the hunch of his shoulders and the tightness of his face, and faintly, he can feel it too. In the ecto-rich air of the Fentonworks House, it thrums, barely-there, like a hummingbird behind his lungs.
Danny can't stop the little, fond smile that forces itself across his lips and upticks the corner of his mouth. "It's okay to be nervous, little brother." He says, he sounds like Jazz when he says that. He doesn't think she'll mind him borrowing the nickname.
He pushes himself off the counter, and Damian refuses to look at him, hiding behind his hair and in his shoulders. It takes three long strides for him to reach the table, and Danny turns, plants his hands on the ledge, and hoists himself up. Right next to Damian.
Damian leans into him easily when Danny's arm wraps around his shoulders and tucks him close to his heart. He can feel his ear against his ribs. Danny hunches over him, resting his chin on Damian's head. "It's so okay to be nervous, actually. I was nervous, Jazz was nervous." He tells him, scratching the blunt edge of his nails across his scalp. "Everyone gets nervous."
"'Ana last aljumiea." Damian mumbles, as small and feeble as he was the night on the OPS Center balcony, realizing that his mom and the League weren't coming for him. Realizing that he was replaceable.
Danny's half-working heart squeezes; in grief, in rage, and his faucet eyes sting. He breathes in carefully, and presses his nose into Damian's hair in a loving faux-kiss. "You're right, you're not everyone." He says, steady and strong, because if he's not a pillar for his family, who else is he?
He can feel Damian's eyes flick up to him, and Danny smiles into his black-brown curls. Tilts his head to squish his cheek against him instead, hand dropping to thumb below Damian's lashes. "You're Damian Fenton," Because the adoption went through a few weeks ago, and he's still riding that high, "You're my baby brother. O' Artist Extraordinaire, Kickass with a Sword, Vegetarian and Wonderful Co-Ghost Hunter."
Damian tries to stifle a smile, and fails. Score! Triumph gathers in Danny's gut, his smile grows wider. He squeezes Damian tight, and only releases him so he can look him in the eyes. "And if anyone gives you a hard time at school, and I mean anyone--"
Danny has bad memories of the teachers looking the other way when the other kids were bullying him, all because he was a Fenton.
And Danny, bleeding heart, bleeding hands, loves his family more than he will ever love himself, will never let Damian experience the same injustice. Not if he can help it.
His eyes narrow, and the buzzy-film of ectoplasm covers his eyes, making them glow, "--You tell me. And as your awesome great big brother-and-technically-dad-but-only-biologically, I will handle it."
Damian, wonderfully made, full of light, his little brother Damian, giggles weakly at him. A sound that's worth it's weight in gold. The scary eyes dissipate, and Danny matches the sound with a cock-eyed, impish grin, dragging Damian into a soul-crushing, too-tight hug. The kind that only annoying older brothers can give. "Got it?"
That gets a proper, if short, laugh out of Damian. He wriggles in Danny's arms, trying to break free. But Danny does calisthenics, his arms are as big as Damian's head, so it doesn't work. "Understood, now, daeni 'adhhab ya 'akhi!"
Danny laughs, loud and bright, and loosens his hold just a smidge, only so he can adjust his grip and hop off the table with Damian still in arm.
"Never!" He crows, hoisting Damian slightly. One eye flick at the clock, and in one quick move, he secures Damian under one arm like a football, and hooks his foot under the strap of his backpack. Kicking it up, he tosses it into the air and catches it with his free hand, and slings it over his shoulder. "Now, to the car, my boy! Before we're late and Mom and Dad get charged."
Damian groans, childish and dramatic and long, but his face is all squished up with a wide grin and glee. Danny can taste his joy beneath his tongue.
"And, if my little pep talk didn't encourage you," He says, reaching the door to the garage, flipping Damian up onto his hip instead. "If you have a good day today, I'll make you bal mithai when you get back."
Like all kids at the promise of sweets, Damian's eyes widen and glitter. Danny loves seeing Damian be a kid, it's his favorite thing in the world. "I will!"

His eyes met Mary’s with intensity, the urge to close the distance, to kiss them, hold them, to drown in this connection between them so there weren’t any other thoughts. And then at the same time the inability to not let the thoughts push through, the way his mind was more chaos than usual, he couldn’t fight the grief, the fear. The chaos simply was incapable of winning this battle. Yet, he kept fighting, kept on trying to push through it, no matter how it weakened him.
He grinned at her, but it missed its mirth. “Anything for you,” he said, a voice laced with intensity, yet lacking it all at the same time. He ignored the mithai in favour of the weed. He felt like he might puke, yet at the same time he was hungry, ravenous. He should sit still, he should eat, he should keep his breathing under control.
Instead as the question rolled off their tongue, Benny slid off the car again, pushing his hand to his mouth as he took another deep breath of the joint, sucking in a little air after before letting it simmer down in his lungs, blowing it out only when he felt the tears in his eyes. “Fuck, I gotta get it checked out,” he said. He’d told very few people about his hand… correction, aside from Mary and Mindy, he’d told nobody. His weakness was not something he put on the table, not even Mei had been given that information from his very lips, but merely drawn upon the conclusion itself. He did not wish people to know because he feared what they might do with that information. It showed that he trusted those who did. “It’s been a fucking bother since the fight I had.” The pain yes, the shaking, no.
He didn’t look at her then, walked around in a circle, looked at his hand, at the joint, then back up at the sky. He felt tight and at a loss, he found himself drifting, unable to set two feet solidly on the ground. Realising this, he walked back to the car, planting two hands on the hood on either side of Mary, his eyes still downcast. His mind was clouded. “I am getting fucked over,” he said, revealing underlying trumoil that was still very much at the surface, that didn’t express how deeply the Halloween party had gripped him. He shared the truth that was of the smallest consequence, convinced himself that it was much bigger than that. “I sold drugs that turned out to be laced with fucking rat poison and I can’t fucking make sense of it,” he said, still not daring to look at Mary. “Person who got hurt… they didn’t fucking deserve that, just some kid trying to seem edgy, and they almost died.” He sucked in a breath. He wanted Mary to hit him, to call him out, for anything, for something. He wanted to feel physical pain because he couldn’t deal with the pain in his heart.
Mary settled onto the hood of Benny's car, a conspiratorial haven where conversations swirled with the smoke of shared experiences. She'd never allowed herself to get as close to anyone as she had with Benny. The box of Mithai placed between them acted as a curious mediator, a sweet break from the sour reality of what'd transpired. She observed Benny's demeanor, sensing the undercurrents of turmoil beneath the surface, the unspoken struggles that sought refuge in the muted rhythm of their camaraderie.
As he extended the box of Indian sweets, Mary's hazel eyes flickered with appreciation. "Gujarati sweets, huh? Diwali treats. You're spoiling me, Benny," she remarked, her tone a mixture of gratitude and amusement. The shared moments, even in their simplicity, were a testament to the peculiar comfort they found in each other's company.
Mary's gaze shifted to the joint in his trembling hand, and a subtle concern crept into the lines of her expression. She could sense the storm of emotions brewing within him, a tempest he battled with every drag of the joint. "Whatcha trembling for?" Giving the other a side glance, a mist of worry glazes her hazel irises.
Revelations about tainted cocaine and the death of one Matevos Hakobyan cast a shadow over their shared space. Mary remained silent, understanding the tumult of emotions that gripped him. Loss, grief, and the complexities of fractured loyalties—territories she was familiar with, albeit through her own lens. She doesn't know yet the depth of connection Benny has with the aforementioned but she's patient, lending a shoulder where needed.
"You know, I've got a bit of a sweet tooth," Mary responded, her words a deliberate diversion, She reached for a piece of Mithai, savoring the intricate flavors that mingled with the scent of the joint. The unspoken pain lingered between them, an invisible thread that bound them in shared moments and silent solace. "You're thinking of that party gone wrong, aren't you?"

Simon Snow’s Guide to the Best Diwali
AKA, all the delicious Diwali food that Simon would love. ❤️
Here’s a teaser...
And the rest is below the cut!
Let’s start off with an overview of Diwali! (Pronounced Di-VAH-lee.) Celebrated on the night of the new moon, usually in late October or early November, Diwali is the festival of lights and a commemoration of the triumph of good over evil. During this holiday, people decorate their houses with festive colors, light hundreds of candles and oil lamps, and set off firecrackers into the night. It is the largest and most widely celebrated holiday in India, with a variety of colorful customs.
Rangoli are colorful designs crafted at the entrance of homes to welcome the goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi, and usher in the New Year. Rangoli features in my zine fic for Let it Snow!
Diwali has its origins in Hindu mythology with the story of the Ramayana. Rama (Rahm) was a great king and warrior who completed a hero’s journey and returned home after a 14 year exile. However, there was no moon that night, so the villagers set out thousands oil lamps to light the path home.
Diwali is celebrated over 5 days; Diwali itself is the 3rd day, and the 4th is the Hindu New Year! Read more about Diwali here.
Alright, now for the fun part.
Simon Snow would love Diwali because one of the core traditions is exchanging food and sweets as gifts with your family and friends. Every year, we spend a few days making mithai (milk sweets) or baked goods, and then it’s like the world’s best secret santa. We receive platters of assorted sweets and savories throughout the entire week leading up to Diwali!
Let’s start with the sweets. The main desserts eaten during Diwali are mithai, various milk sweets that usually include gram (chickpea) flour and nuts or coconut. They are vibrantly colored and usually arranged beautifully on platters! There is a huge variety—here are some examples of arrangements.
Most are simply a combination of condensed or powdered milk, sugar, and gram flour or nut flour. In addition, they’re flavored and adorned with ingredients like rosewater, cardamom, saffron, and even pounded silver.
Here are some of the more popular types!
Kaju Katli: Cashew mithai, always cut in diamond shapes, and topped with real thin-pounded silver. A classic!
Ladoo: Chickpea flour or semolina condensed milk sweets, rolled into balls. They’re amazing, and the texture is unrivaled. Chickpea flour is fine and gritty, so it’s like biting into a ball of kinetic sand... but actually edible. When I was a kid, we used to make ladoos with coconut and use food coloring to make the Indian flag! Here’s the mix we received this year from a friend:
Barfi: Milk squares that can be made with various flavorings, like coconut, almonds, walnut, etc. So soft. So delicious. Sometimes they’re bright pink.
Soan Papdi: chickpea flour squares that flake away in strands when you bite into them, like if you condensed candy floss into a bar.
Peda: I don’t even know what’s in these, they’re just fucking delicious.
Alright, onto the other sweets!
My personal favorite: gulab jamun. Soft, perfectly round dumplings made of like, magic. Basically. They’re sweet, fried, flavored with cardamom, soaked in a sweet rosewater syrup, and served warm. If you haven’t tried these, you’re missing out—Indian grocery stores, and certainly some normal ones, sell them in big cans and you can heat them up on the stove.
Rasmalai: my other favorite. I don’t know how to describe these—happy spongy dumpling disks served cold in a sauce that’s basically ice cream, but better. Pistachios, delicate rosewater, and sweet creaminess. It’s basically heaven.
Two photos, because they’re that good. (These are definitely Baz’s favorite, by the way.)
Jalebi: Essentially, batter is piped into pretzel shapes, like how you make a funnel cake, and then fried, and then soaked in sugar syrup. You bite into it with a satisfying crunch, and then the syrup floods out and it becomes chewy. It’s a dentist’s worst nightmare. I mean, look at this shit:
Who even came up with this? I don’t care, I love it. Tis the season for tooth rotting.
Kheer: Indian rice pudding... or sometimes it’s made with vermicelli. With almonds, and saffron, and... agh. I dream about it.
Last but certainly not least, gajar ka halva.
This stuff could build a cult following if it wanted to, I swear. It’s like if carrot cake one day said fuck it and stopped pretending it was healthy. It’s ground carrots, sugar, ghee, milk pistachios... so good.
I almost posted this without even going over the savory foods. Who even needs them?
...Okay, fine.
Diwali food is traditionally vegetarian, and it’s pretty standard fare: naan, rice, samosas, daal, paneer makhani, etc. The appetizers are top notch. It’s literally all fried.
That spiral thing is a chakli, jalebi’s savory friend. Just... a fried spiral. Various crispy things are eaten. It’s great.
Brb, might actually cry from how hungry I am right now.
Simon would love aloo tikki, a north Indian specialty... imo, the best way to make potatoes.
Pakoras, too: mixed vegetable fritters served with chutney.
Pani Puri/Golgappa: The best street food. You take a baby puri shell. Crack the top. Fill it with a spicy potato mix, and then add mouthwatering tamarind sauce.
Paneer Makhani (butter paneer) would be Simon’s favorite veg dish. Soft cheese in butter sauce... sounds right up his alley. 😂
There are a ton of other different dishes made with various vegetables and sauces and spices, like four types of daal, and if I continue this will go on for ages. So I’ll just do a special shoutout to chicken tikka masala, the national dish of the UK lol. ❤️
Shoutout to Penelope Bunce as well for being half-Indian and thereby giving me a totally valid reason to write a thousand-word rant about Indian food on Tumblr and claim it’s fandom. Shoutout also to Simon Snow for his canonical love of Indian food. 😂
If you’ve made it this far, I hope you enjoyed, found this educational, and most of all... I hope you’re really hungry now. 😂 Go eat some Indian food to celebrate. I know you want to.
Happy Diwali, everyone! ❤️❤️❤️

Hey PS! Been a long time I visited Tumblr.. how have you been?
I was wondering what your mother tongue is.. I'm a Bengali, and recently came across this Bengali TV serial 'Mithai'.. to me, it's eerily similar to IPKKND, the broad strokes to begin with, but also some situations here and there.. and I haven't been able to get it out of my head.. every time I watch an episode of Mithai, I keep thinking, this is a smartly adopted story shown smartly to avoid copyright claims..
Anyone in your circle/network think the same?
Btw, reading all the posts and activities I've missed.. love your takes on questions.. 💖💕
Heyyyy :)
I’m okay! I hope you’re well!!
My mother tongue is Hindi. While I don’t know anything about that specific serial, there are lots of examples of shows taking inspiration from IPKKND and other successful serials. And that’s on top of the official remakes for regional television. It’s a winning formula, I can see why other production houses would want to replicate it. 4Lions itself can’t seem to let it go lol.
But then again, IPKKND isn’t original. This story has been told before, countless times, but what makes it special (to me anyway) is how it's told.

Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice |Harry Holland X Indian! Reader|
A/N: I've wanted to write an Indian!Reader fic for so long and it's here!!! Also I wrote this at like 1am in the morning today???? You never know when inspiration might kick in. Tell me what you think!
Warnings: none lol, just a teeny weeny really small dislike towards Harry and Indian parents just being Indian parents.
You and Harry had been dating for over two years and you hadn’t even told your parents about it for the first six months. And when you finally managed to bring the nerve to tell them, they were so shocked, because they didn't expect you to date a British. But they grew out of it soon and were looking forward to meet him. It was the first time Harry was visiting India and you after three years. He seemed so nervous about meeting your parents but also excited about seeing the place you grew up, meeting all your friends and learning more about you. During the flight you kept telling him stories about your childhood and the places you were going to take him to see. You had decided that you would take him to some monuments or historical places in your city because they were your favourite to visit and also they were really good picturesque spots for Harry to click pictures. And of course you were going to take him to your school/ college where you had so many memories and all the spots where you and your friends used to hang out.
As the plane was about to land, you could see the city lights from below, it looked so beautiful and you realised how much you had missed home.
When you both get outside the airport, you see your parents were waiting for you.
“y/n!” your mom shouts.
You run towards her and pull her into a hug, it had been so long since you had seen her. Your dad then hugs you and kisses your forehead.
They start asking you about how the flight was and if you had eaten anything. You shrug it off and point towards Harry, who had been standing behind you, watching everything and smiling.
“Ma this is Harry!”
“Umm namaste,” he says. He wanted to make a good first impression, he had told you.
You parents smile and he shakes his hand with your dad.
On the car ride home, you point towards the buildings and tell Harry more about your city.
Your mom slowly whispers in your ear,"ye sar pe jhaad kyu uga rakha hai?" (Why has he grown this fro on his head?)
"Mom!" You whisper-shout. You loved Harry's curls, running your hand through it when cuddling and tugging on it during sexy times, how they felt on your neck when he hugged you. But apparently your mom wasn't a fan of it.
You reach home and rush towards your room, it was just like you had left, but cleaner. All the photos of boybands on the wall, all the inspiration quotes, the wall hangings, everything was exactly the same. You feel a wave of nostalgia as you sit down on the bed.
"We've missed you," Your mom says as she sits beside you.
"I've missed you too, ma," You start crying, just a few happy tears and your mom brushes them off from your cheeks.
"Now now, take a bath and relax, then we'll have lunch, okay? I've made your favourite food"
"Oh thank you mom"
"Harry will sleep in the guest room right?" Your mom asks you.
"Of course mom, where else would he sleep?" You say trying to hide your sneaky smile.
You had a plan in mind, which was going to get you killed if you got caught. But how could you deny that deep sexy voice? Those gorgeous curls? You were going to sneak into the guest room late at night, after everyone had fallen asleep and maybe..just maybe do some stuff, though you weren't sure, as Harry was so damn loud, he could probably be heard all the way from across the street.
You change into a salwar kurta, as you had missed wearing ethnic. You put on a pair of earrings which someone had gifted you, with a small bindi which matched the colour of your kurta.
Harry was in awe when he saw you, and you blushed a little as you didn't expect him to react that way.
"Wow- you… you look really beautiful"
"Well you don't look so bad yourself" You get closer to him, intertwining your hands with his. He leans in to kiss you, but you put a finger on his lips and softly push him away. You had told him not to PDA in front of your family but it was just a habit now, to kiss just like that, anytime, not even thinking about it before.
"Uh uh no baby not now," You eye towards the living room, where your dad was going through all the gifts you had bought for everyone."Tonight, okay?"
"Can't wait," He smirks.
Your mom had made enough food to last a week. But you hadn't had homemade food for so long, you didn't mind. After you left India, what you missed the most was the food, your family following closely after. You missed eating all the spicy food, snacks and sweets. Sure, there were good Indian restaurants in London but they were nothing close to the food made by your mom. You were so overwhelmed being able to taste her food again.
You talked all about how you met Harry and about his family. Your parents told you how things had been for them and a few updates on your relatives and cousins.
"Oh did I tell you your aunt's brother's son got into a university in the US?" Your mom says.
"No mom you didn't and what does that have to do with me-" You started to speak when you hear Harry cough. "Wha- what happened?"
"Spice- it's... too.... spicy... it's... it's burning," He says, puffing his cheeks, with a few tears in his eyes.
You immediately stand up and go to him, rubbing his back.
"Mom I told you not to make it spicy!"
"But- but I didn't put any chillis!" Your mom protests.
"It must be the masala (spices)," Your dad calls out.
"Whatever it is, just give him some water," Your mom reaches for a water bottle on the table.
"No it's going to burn even more!" You grab a mithai (sweet) from the plate and put it in Harry's mouth. A trick that you had learnt, not to drink water when spicy food gets to you, as it'll only make it worse. Instead always have something sweet, which cools down the tongue. "Better?"
"Mmmm yeah"
"Don't they eat spicy food?" Your mom asks.
"They do.. they do, mom. He's just not used to it and I did tell you to be careful in putting the spices"
When night fell, you go to the balcony and see Harry looking at the night sky.
"Hey"
"Hi"
"So my spicy nugget can't handle a little spicy food?"
He laughs. "Let me just say it was really spicy, okay how do you even eat it?"
"I'm used to it, I've been eating it since like forever and God, I've missed it so much"
"I know, babe and I'm so happy to see you happy"
"Aww come here," You pull him closer and put your lips on his, not caring who was watching. Both of your lips sliding over each other’s and his hands tracing your back, your eyes closed, savouring the taste of him. He moves his hands a little lower and playfully grabs your ass. You laugh into the kiss and tug on his hair. Your heartbeat becomes faster and you hold on to his neck. His mouth moves to your neck, slowly kissing and biting, you let out a small moan, feeling his hot breath on your skin.He lifts his head up and meets your lips again, deeply kissing you with his tongue teasing your mouth and-
"Y/NN!! " You hear a shocked voice call out from behind you, startling you both.
One look from your mom and you knew you were dead.

surprise me for the drabble meme!!!
drabble list // @squibbed
"where are we going?" hurley asks. udyati says nothing. she merely tugs him along towards the living room of the rao residence. she points to the couch. "sit," she tells hurley, and he does.
on the coffee table are salty snacks and sweet ones. (she still had some mithai left.)
"so," udyati says as she sits down next to hurley. "i took the liberty of setting up some movies in the netflix queue. you know? that muggle streaming service that lets you watch movies and shows whenever you want? turns out they've got quite the catalogue when it comes to dance movies."
she gives hurley the softest nudge. "before break, i heard you talk to imo about dancing and stuff. it's probably a pureblood thing that i don't really understand. but from the tone of your voice, well, i could hear that you missed it. and i know this probably doesn't make up for it. but it's the next best thing."
udyati grabs the remote and presses play, and the first movie - the first of many, that is - starts playing.

Happy Birthday! I ❤ your long posts especially about the TRR series and hope you'd write more. Also I'm really happy to hear that you are from south Asia since I'm from Pakistan and can actually understand your references. I also relate to what you said about Hana's parents' parenting.Do you have any tips for how to communicate that I don't want an arranged marriage as I want to go for post grad first, don't want to rely on men?.What kind of dresses, food and music do you like.Any fanfic recs?
Hellooooo! Thank you so much for reaching out! Where in Pakistan are you from? 😀
Yeah I know, I enjoyed doing the QT series while it lasted too. Maybe sometime in the future I might go back and finish my QTs for Book 1. I have plenty of thoughts but lost all my failplay screenshots unfortunately.
I guess a lot of us can relate to an extent to Hana's situation, no? There was so much there from the start that I could see as happening in my own life and I find it disappointing that so many in the fandom simply brand her as "weak".
Hmm...wow. That's a very good question! I was in a similar situation before I got married - my folks did bring up the whole idea of searching for matches once I got my Bachelors degree, but I guess it was taken for granted that since I loved Eng Lit marriage would not be discussed until I finished my M. A. My personal experience is that outlining for my parents why my postgrad degree is important, and how it would benefit my future career prospects, kinda worked for me. But I also need to take into account that different parents have different priorities - and yours may or may not be similar to mine. So my advice may not be all that useful or applicable, but hopefully them being able to see or hear how important spending time to focus on this postgrad degree and a future career would be for you, could work. (I'm sorry if this is so vague! Maybe we can chat over this on DM if you have more questions)
Dresses...food...music, huh? Okay 😁
Outfits - I have a HUGE soft spot for handloom kurtas. Mostly traditional/local designs/artwork like ikat or worli or bandhini style cloth dyeing. I mean honestly just give me a nice, bright cotton kurta with a quirky design and a salwar/churidhar and I'm good to go. Better still if there's an assymetrical pattern somewhere. I could wear the HELL out of a kurta 😂
Food: oh God too many to count. I think my ultimate is curd rice really. Gimme that and nothing else for lunch and I will be happy. But besides that I have a huuuuge sweet tooth so any and most mithais make me happy lol. Also I was born and brought up in Dubai so I miss my shawarmas and manoushe zaatar (prior to the lockdown there was a place that used to sell that in my area so now I have cravings for it every Saturday!)
Music: So many. But I'm a big fan of Queen, and of 90s and turn-of-the-millennium Indipop like Falguni Pathak or Euphoria (and oh God Pakistani music too at the time was 🔥 🔥 🔥. My favourites were Strings and Fuzon!). I'm a huuuuge softie so I'm a big fan of romantic songs as well.
Thank you so much for this ask, @shz256! I enjoyed answering this xD

Prompt #30: Darkness
“I would hae told him, you know, sapling.” Feo Ul, having assumed her smaller fae form sat gently on the prone form of one incredible drunk Warrior of Darkness. Sitting in a dark basement for nigh on 100 years had done some amazing things to the potency of the Voeburt wine Dainty had chugged. For a while the drahn's intoxication had been most amusing to the King of the Fairyfolk. Dainty was much more inclined to be playful when drunk. They had played hide and seek, and warmer colder and even ring around the rosie. Feo Ul could not recall the last time she had had such fun with a mortal and it was her precious sapling to boot. Dainty had been so free, and spontaneous. Laughter had echoed through the halls of Mithai Glorianda for the first time in a century. Dainty's gaiety had been fleeting however. Little by little a shadow had crept through her heart until she didn't want to play anymore, and all the alcohol in the world couldn't chase it away. Not that she hadn't tried. Leading to her current state of laying on the palace floor, cheek pressed against the cold marble and trying to get the world to stop spinning so horridly. “I dun ..know... whatcher...talkin'bout.” Dainty slurred awfully, vaguely considering if bringing up her stomach full of booze would make her feel better or worse. “Och, yes ye do. The tall one, with the white hair.” Feo Ul smiled sweetly. “The one ye won't admit ye love.” “Dun...love... nuffin but mself.” Feo Ul ignored Dainty's garbled attempt at speech, gently stroking the drahn's pitch white hair. “My precious, beloved, foolish sapling. D’ye not think, if ye'd succumbed t'the Light, I would no ‘ave flitted back t'ye World and told him how much ye sacrificed. N'how much ye gave.” For several long moments the pixie wasn't sure if the darkness of alcohol induced sleep had claimed Dainty for the woman did not move, nor speak. After a long pause however the woman spoke softly; “... thank you... he would have...wanted... to know.” That was the sole admittance she would utter that there was a “he” to miss her. And here I thought I was the only man in your life.
Dainty gave a little snort that surprised Feo Ul. Drunk or not, Dainty knew that smug amused voice only too well. So similar in tone it was to her own, it had passed between her lips before this day.
“....shaddup Ardbert.” “Sapling? Who're ye talkin' too?” I couldn't possibly stay silent when you're having a sulk this momentous.
“M'not ...sulkin'...”
“O'course ye not!” Can't fool me, Dainty. We're part of the same soul, remember?Ryne gave you a solid fright, you got reminded on your own mortality. Of how damn close to the edge you truly came. Never were a fan of that, were you. ... Me either. You and I, we never were the type t'sit down and really think about how damn scared we are.
“Wuzznt skerd. Can't. Warriors of...Darkness...dun get... scared.” “Well o'course they do, my silly sapling. You mortal folk are constantly going about having feelings without any regard fer the mess it sometimes causes.” But I think you need to, sinner. I couldn't tell why your fear has manifest like this. Makin' you look like a Sin Eater. Nyelbert probably could have, that elf always was terrifyingly smart. One way or another, eventually, you're going to have to admit it;
You're doing this to yourself.
