Anyway -- while the Oversized Crops Fair wasn’t exactly hopping, there were enough NPCs around to make it interesting -- and I was very pleased to see a few come over and throw their hats into the ring for the actual competitions! After all, I’d heard before that these fairs can be a little, uh, broken, at times, including never having any competitors besides your Sims (which does NOT guarantee them a win!). Fortunately for me, a couple of wandering NPCs submitted pies for judging (a cottage pie and a meat pie if I recall correctly), another guy submitted his oversized lettuce, and this little kid submitted his little baby lettuce as Alice went to check out Victor’s watermelon versus the competition, aww. :) We’re all pulling for you, buddy!

With the promise of an actual competition in the offing, I set about keeping the gang busy until the final judgment came. Alice joined the gang grooving to cottagecore over by the speaker (when in doubt, dance!), while Victor finished up his fruit pie and Smiler traded their Wrench for a Plasma Jane and started making friends with the other people at the bar -- specifically the dude in the yellow sweater with the pointy beard named Jameson. They really seemed to get on well! (I mean, yeah, everyone gets on well with Smiler, but still.) Victor submitted his pie and came back to the bar to finish off Smiler’s unwanted drink as a sort of reward for himself --

And then I was like, “Hang on, the festival generally has special deals at either the grocery stall or the garden stall -- why not have Victor and Alice pick up a few things?” And so they did, with Alice taking on Agnes (and not impressing her with her scratching, apparently) and Victor chatting to Kim. They both got some good stuff too -- as I was planning on getting them a cow in the very near future, I had Alice pick up some new treats (including Party, Fishy Protein, Pumpkin, and Veggie) and a glow orb she found in Agnes’s inventory, while Victor picked up some blueberries and cherries for the greenhouse, plus a quill fruit! Both that and the glow orb are normally only found on Sixam, so getting them here was indeed a special deal! Thanks Agnes and Kim!

this leads people to believe that Azul has Jamil wrapped around his finger, bc “well he dresses up Jamil however he likes” but they are dead wrong. Hi Mr. Weedman,

Tl;dr: If you had a more convenient way to do it, would you give tablet weaving another shot?

Long time fan, first time asker. I actually got into textiles/fibercraft via tablet weaving, so even just seeing the warp for the blanket all nice and lined up got me psyched. Someday i wanna try spinning yarn for my own weaving.

While stalking your blog looking at your work I saw you gave tablets a shot, and I was sad to see it gave you so much trouble. Thus, my question.

I started out doing it exactly as you did (but with disposable chopsticks), and got just as frustrated with worse results. I was too deep in hyperfixation to do anything else tho, so after a ton of trial and error I've figured out some cool stuff, like this:

If you attach a weight to the far end of the warp (a partially filled water bottle is nice for adjusting tension) and drape it over something horizontal like the back of a chair, you can sit somewhere comfy and still attach it at your belt.

I'm hoping to make a demo post or video soon focusing on ADHD and financial accessibility. If you're interested I'd love to hear your take on it, either from a dyslexic POV or just as someone way more experienced with textiles.

I have actually been thinking about tablet weaving a lot recently ! i came to the conclusion last time i tried it that i'd need an inkle loom, which i do now have the tools to make (just not the time or the materials at this moment). but your suggestion of adding weight to the other end to achieve the tension necessary, rather than needing to pull against it with one's body, is such a good idea !!!

i'd be fascinated to see your demo on it--please do send it to me/@ me when it's done, and i'd be happy to try it out and tell you my thoughts on itl ! i think i plan on building an inkle loom either way, but i enjoyed the simplicity of backstrap so much, and if there's a way for me to do it without as much pain i absolutely wanna try again. if im understanding you, it sounds like you could have the weaving tensioned on the back of a chair but could also sit in a backed chair while weaving ? that would fix it for me. and even if that setup isn't possible, im still much more hopeful that there's a way to make it work for me.

it's really great to hear about other fiber folks who hyperfixated their way through stuff not working and having a cheap setup, that's how i end up learning everything too xD

As much as I love things like Vocaloid, Prosekai, and Vtubers I can't help but feel super jealous. It's a pretty silly dream, but ever since I was very very little I've wanted to be an idol and that dream has only grown and evolved overtime. It's rather unrealistic since I don't have much talent, nor confidence, or any real opportunities but I want to make it come true so bad that it often makes me sad.

I used to host a lot of parties ‐ house parties, cocktail parties, dinner parties, you name it. This was back when I lived in [insert small city in the intermountain west] and had recently graduated from college, so the two distinct social circles me and my partner came from did have a little overlap, but weren't by any means the same, which means the different parties were for different people and had EXTREMELY different purposes. The most popular ones, which I held annually for like five years and actually had people tell me they looked forward to, were my themed Halloween parties and their platonic opposite, my Dec 24th cocktail parties. Cocktail parties were easily my favorite to host, but that one was always special. (Fun fact, in some social groups if you manage to host like one single good cocktail party with the right people in attendance, you will always get invited to any cocktail parties hosted by anyone in that circle always and forevermore.) anyway, I mention this because I haven't hosted any parties since moving away five years ago because I haven't made enough (cough cough any) friends to do so and all this talk of Arrival Time Etiquette is making me kinda sad about it lol
