…Hey, on IETYD3.

Making that big spiel on my alternate storyline idea has reinforced a certain view I have on this game:

[spoilers for IEYTD3, btw]

Dr. Prism allying with Zor may have been a mistake on Schell’s part.

Like, for one thing, there’s the extremely obvious ideological contradiction; Dr. Prism wants her robots to be “her lasting legacy”, but apparently sees no issue in her legacy being tied to the guys who tried to nuke multiple cities.

If she were a third party, this issue would be resolved almost immediately; she’s stealing Zor’s resources, in order to overturn both Zoraxis & the Agency, and make a world without either “form of control”, as she puts it.

Then at least her plan’s flaw is sensible; she has failed to realize that she would be just as controlling as Zor was, instead of “I’m going to enlist the help of a person who would immediately steal my work from me should I succeed, and this will never cross my mind.”

But for another thing, I feel like Third-Party Prism — and by extension, my ending for IEYTD3 — would send a much clearer message than the canon ending.

Like, we can all tell the robots are metaphors for the A.I. Boom, right?

Well, I think that the strongest message you can make about the Boom would be that “this technology, no matter how groundbreaking, will be taken by the powers at play for their own ends, regardless of the intentions of their creators”.

And what better way to embody this message than Zor commandeering a robot army to do all they desire with, and kicking out their creator to boot?

I’d say that sends a pretty strong message, wouldn’t you?

i hope taco permadies in the finale. i hope she’s a victim of circumstance. i hope she dies convincing herself its for the better. that it’s her final punishment. that there was no other ending than this. that if her attempts to apologize for all the hurt she’s done didn’t work, she’s fully irredeemable. that there is no other fate best-suited for her other than death, and that in life there is no further point for her. i hope she dies believing she deserves it.

i hope she never gets the chance to tell microphone she loves her. i hope microphone is eternally left in the dark. i hope she never discovers the true extent of tacos remorse. her guilt. i hope she is left in silence to only ponder about how taco felt, hoping and praying that she meant anything to her. even a tiny bit. clinging onto any fraction of hope that taco could possibly feel the same way she does.

i hope microphone never finds out she’s dead. i hope she is led to believe that taco moved on from her. that she never meant anything to her. that she wasn’t enough again.

feeling pretty emotional this morning about how there are only 2 chapters of TLE2 left. Holy shit.

i wanna talk about the ‘treasure room’ because i think it does a really good job of summarising what’s happening between ed and stede at the moment.

stede ‘takes the initiative’ (or acts without discussing what he’s doing) and puts all of ed’s remaining treasure in one room that’s completely hidden. his reasons for putting it away are:

it was all over the place

he was tripping over it

some of it is quite ugly :/

and instantly ed hits him with the “excellent. a reminder of all my guilt. a guilt room. 😔🤘”

they’re not being subtle about it. this is a physical representation of their guilt and they’re demonstrating here exactly how they’re taking care of it.

ed is living with it. it’s in his space. sure it might be in the way but where else could he possibly put it? there’s so much of it and it’s his. there’s no use in just palming it off to someone else. no one wants this much treasure.

but stede can’t stand it and he has to deal with it now or he’ll die. so he just crams it into some hidden space and considers the matter resolved. it’s out of the way. it can’t hurt them if they don’t think about it. and it’s ugly! no one wants to look at something ugly, especially when they’re trying to rebuild their space.

but that’s just the thing. neither of them are actually dealing with or addressing the problem. stede has just. put it away.

WITHOUT ASKING ED WHAT HE THINKS THEY SHOULD DO WITH IT.

so they decide to just use it to throw this big party because surely that will fix it, right? that will get rid of the Treasure Issue.

WRONG!!

because they still didn’t talk about any of it. yeah they talked about “turning poison into positivity” and “giving some of it to the less fortunate” but they didn’t deal with the root of the problem. how did ed amass that much treasure in the first place? what’s the ideal way of getting rid of it? is there anything they want to keep?

they’re on such uneven planes this season because they can’t communicate to reach a common ground. ed is surrounded by his guilt and wants to leave it all behind. stede has just hidden the guilt and wants to pretend it isn’t even there.

Okay. I need everyone to know right now that from Skizz’s POV, when etho killed him for the final time and it looked like skizz didn’t get to say anything back, skizz actually said “I do too.” Those were his last words.

“I just wished you played this game better.” “I do too.” I’m gonna combust.

can we please talk about jeremy's characterization between tsc and tgr? just to preface, I love jeremy knox so much, but I feel like his pov was inconsistently written between the two books.

the tonal transition between tsc and tgr for jeremy's pov was so jarring. understandably, nora wanted us to know minimal jeremy backstory in tsc, but the issue is less about the content itself and more so how it was written. in tsc he's covering nearly his entire personality with sunshine. now, we could see the cracks, we got vague hints at the truth underneath the surface. trauma with parents, goes to therapy, only stays in a bedroom long enough for a hookup, but those are all actions. his mental state in tsc is relatively stable, supporting jean consistently. then tgr starts the morning after tsc ended narratively, suddenly jeremy is filled with self loathing, low self esteem, and is routinely punishingly self destructive. why does it feel like a switch was flipped overnight with jeremy's personality? he seems like an entirely different person. we experienced jeremy's pov for over a month in tsc and his mentality was never this dire. tgr jeremy is so viscerally lonely and ceaselessly battling with guilt in a way that wasn't at all present in tsc, but now consumes him in tgr.

we can clearly tell in tgr that jeremy's mentally and emotionally trapped in what happened four years ago, so his true mental state should've been intertwined within his characterization in tsc as well. there needed to be a better through line with his arc, so that the transition from mostly-sunshine to slipping under the beaming mask wasn't so drastic. jeremy's pov has always been a bit cagey and quite avoidant, but lacing his lingering darkness with his radiance from the start would've made the jump from tsc to tgr more cohesive for his characterization and less disjointed.

Howdy hello- guess who made a wings au :)

More to come with this eventually- I’m working on my designs for other characters at the moment, but for now we’ve got Red-Tailed Hawk for Curt and Eagle Owl for Owen.

For DMA I had Barn Owl wings because a) Barn Owls are beautiful and I wanted to draw the wings for them, and more importantly, b) Owen would probably want to disguise his wings, and it would make sense if it was as a different type of owl. I just assume he’d dye his feathers in some way or another. Look- just don’t think about it too much.

Also talked about this in the tags— and I’m really just rambling because I can’t sleep— but honestly, I think I’m a lot happier now that I’ve essentially “stepped away” from the indie animation scene.

With Lumi’s production pretty much over and the animatic premiering in 2025, I just feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I’d been stressing about it for so long that I kind of lost sight of why I made Lumi in the first place. It sounds kinda cheesy when I type it out though, ha.

I of course still want to be in the scene, but moreso supporting other creators, now. I think I’ve had enough of the spotlight and would rather go back to posting silly things about my goobers than worrying about anything else.

one thing that really fascinates me about alex is his devotion to art – and more specifically, how he chooses to get some inspiration from scientific works of what he aims to implement in his art. every time one gets to examine some of his lyrics, or even how he explains these lyrics in an interview, they can be greeted by some bits of actual scientific information. an example is how he named his taquería on the moon with the term “information-action ratio”, coined by the critic neil postman, and referenced it in the song four out of five, something that might also indicate an interesting articulation with postman's concept. the line “cute new places keep on popping up”, for example, can express his well-known sardonic discontent regarding the flood of information being generated and transmitted over and over and, as much as it seems visually appealing and does give the idea of benefiting from advanced technologies, it doesn't really add anything substantial to the receiver's critical thinking – and worse, it distances the information receiver from the sender in a communication channel, according to postman.

what i'm saying with this interpretation is, it's known that alex is enamoured with the idea of gathering a bunch of references and condensing them into a mixture of metaphors in his writing, but it's so thrilling how, at times, we can find some bits of science inside of it – and it's even more exciting, just like playing a puzzle game, to find these references and analyse them by doing a similar research to what he did to create his works.

No one asked but I have a take haha.

I have zero problem with buck and eddie being an item, the biggest problem I have is their stans acting the way they are now with the current storyline with tommy.

I mean, I hate to break it to the b*ddie st*ns but you can think your friends are hot and like, not want to pursue them, whether you realize you’re queer or not. The fans are undermining so much of the current storyline that it makes me sad.

Im as aroace as one can be, but also I have eyes lol. I see hot/attractive people, I of course can admit that they are hot/attractive. It doesn’t mean that I want to be with them specifically sexually or romantically.

Also, figuring out your sexuality is confusing and weird. I definitely thought I had a crush on a friend solely because they were a person I got along with and spent a lot of time with and thought that was what I was supposed to do (by the time I thought I was allo).

What I mean is that it’s not always black and white when it comes to what attraction is.

Another thing, and this is pure speculation on my part: the actors are VERY aware of b*ddie and know that it’s one of the biggest reasons people keep watching the show, so they might keep on stirring the pot a bit in the interviews because they know it can create enough buzz for the show to trend and make the network/producers/investors keep renewing it so they can keep their jobs for as long as possible.

Im not saying b*ddie fans are delusional or anything like that but I am really disappointed how many of them (or at least a loud minority) is treating the canon ship as if it’s a stepping stone for another that has yet to be fully confirmed on screen. Sure there are signs in retrospect, but like I said, you can think someone is attractive without wanting to be with them.

This whole thing of buck having always been in love with eddie irks me a bit as it falls in a trope I don’t personally like (someone sticking around because they are pining over their friend the whole time and the friendship is a stepping stone to romance). I mean, if b*ddie happens and it’s done well, I’m all for it. What I really don’t want to happen is the trope I mentioned above. If it’s meant to happen, the best way in my opinion is for the two guys to develop those feelings with time, not it being a realization that they were in love the whole time. Heck, there are dcoms that did friends to lovers quite decently in the past and it wasn’t a “it has always been youuu” situation.

In conclusion, the only thing we gotta take is what is confirmed on screen, in canon. If we are supposed to listen to anyone talking about ships and storyline is Tim Menear and the other writers. And what has been confirmed so far by Tim is that Buck was jealous of Eddie being with Tommy because he was attracted to Tommy without realizing it. In canon so far, that’s what is happening and you have to accept that. The story is about Buck coming to terms with his bisexuality and him and Tommy being in a romantic relationship.
