a little detail that i noticed (and adore) about alex is how sometimes he gets so comfortable with some of the people he meets that he just takes photos with them by glueing his cheek/forehead/whole face on them in such a lovely way, like this:

when you approach your bandmate for a normal blokey forehead touch during the in my room outro but instead he has the audacity of lowering his head strategically exposing the entirety of his neck (and nape) and you give in to the temptation of burying and rubbing your whole face on it for a few good seconds and after that he lifts his face and intentionally rubs his nose and lips on yours in response. what the hell was that

first thing that the announcement of an oasis reunion made me think was the possibility of an updated version of “miles and alex all over each other rocking out to ‘supersonic’”

one thing that really fascinates me about alex is his devotion to art – and more specifically, how he chooses to get some inspiration from scientific works of what he aims to implement in his art. every time one gets to examine some of his lyrics, or even how he explains these lyrics in an interview, they can be greeted by some bits of actual scientific information. an example is how he named his taquería on the moon with the term “information-action ratio”, coined by the critic neil postman, and referenced it in the song four out of five, something that might also indicate an interesting articulation with postman's concept. the line “cute new places keep on popping up”, for example, can express his well-known sardonic discontent regarding the flood of information being generated and transmitted over and over and, as much as it seems visually appealing and does give the idea of benefiting from advanced technologies, it doesn't really add anything substantial to the receiver's critical thinking – and worse, it distances the information receiver from the sender in a communication channel, according to postman.
what i'm saying with this interpretation is, it's known that alex is enamoured with the idea of gathering a bunch of references and condensing them into a mixture of metaphors in his writing, but it's so thrilling how, at times, we can find some bits of science inside of it – and it's even more exciting, just like playing a puzzle game, to find these references and analyse them by doing a similar research to what he did to create his works.

guyeppel: @/thelastshadowpuppets // Sound Fix Records. 110 Bedford Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. NYC. March 4th, 2008.
Alex Turner(Arctic Monkeys) & Miles Kane(The Rascals) played their North American debut show at the now long gone Sound Fix Records, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Was this their first ever show anywhere worldwide?! The guys played to a full room at the side of the store. In town for interviews, they told the crowd they decided to play a gig while they were over here. The set was a run through of eight songs, much to the delight of fans who’d lined up when news of the gig announcement was sent out.
Set list: In My Room Standing Next To Me The Chamber Only The Truth Calm Like You My Mistakes Age of the Understatement The Meeting Place
My photographs of the night along with a post show portrait ran in both the NME & Rolling Stone magazine, which was nice, as such things meant something still in 2008.

just had a dream where we got a miles and alex recent in a grocery store(?). they’re all jokey and giggly and messing with each other in the drink aisle and being the good old touchy they’ve always been since the early days — i mean, there was a sequence of recents of them just casually glueing on each other in the middle of a bunch of beverages… and then i woke up.
