So I had Sinsmas paused on my browser to do life stuff as usual, I Will Be Okay was in my head, and I walked back to my computer after life stuff and realized the frame I had it paused on was

Their positions aren't just similar, they're reversed. In "I Will Be Okay", Via is on the floor and Stolas's shadow is standing up, looking down on her and reaching a hand to her from above, which she swats away. At the end of Sinsmas, Stolas is kneeling on the floor, with Via looking down at him from above, and her hand resting on Stolas's, which she pulls away from.
AND THE PARALLELS AND REVERSALS DON'T END THERE
From what I could see, it seems like there's only one instance where the parallel doesn't totally apply.

#mine musings#not tagging etc etc#i just want to ramble (this is about lc)#do people feel like lg's character is incomplete without a backstory?#like a “past” before he met cxs#i feel like it's a nice-to-have thing (wouldn't be opposed to it) but i don't think his character requires it to be fully fleshed out yknow#his character is strongly defined by his role in the narrative because that's how stories work. but like#i do feel like we've learned a lot about him that would've stayed constant even if cxs isn't in his life though#like idk i just don't understand calling him a plot device i guess#like would he be more interesting if it was revealed he got attached to cxs so easily bc he had some kind of unhappy childhood or whatever?#i mean if it's executed well. sure?#personallyyyyyyy i think it's already compelling if he's just like. some guy#he's just some nerdy kid who made a friend and felt grief and loss for the first time and couldn't take it#like. that's compelling to me. unhappy childhood would be interesting too but like. there's nothing wrong with lg being just Some Guy™ imo😭#maybe it's bc i like the idea that lg could be anyone#and what i mean is like. that could be me. that could be you#all it takes is to find a love and friendship you're not willing to let go of. and as S1 has shown many clients have the same regrets#the only difference is that they never had the ability to change the past like lg did#like cxs said in YE1. everyone would want to have the ability to change the past. it's human nature#and i like the idea that the love and grief lg went through isn't something that's unique to him#like obviously it's unique in the sense that he makes it worse for himself with time loops#but like. the love he experienced could also happen to me. could also happen to you#same with the grief#i'm realizing as i'm rambling here that THIS is actually what i love about lg's character#now i kinda wish i didn't hide this in the tags lmao but whatever#i didn't want to invite debates over this and like if director li wants to give him a backstory that's fine#but the way lg is right now. i don't think he's “just a plot device”#and i don't think he's an incomplete character#i'll accept any backstory but god i really wish he stays being just Some Guy who loved and lost and continues to love and lose#because it's human and normal and everyone goes through it

im taking a break for lunch but ive played a couple hours of Moth Planet now and I'm intrigued and enjoying myself. it's not the easiest game to control thanks to how bouncy the physics are (the bounce is intentional), but i've not yet come across anything that has caused me unreasonable challenge.
so far, i recommend it! with one caveat-
if you have photosensitivity, you might find this game not to your liking. explanation: your player character comes equipped with a camera with a flash function, so you are in control of the flashing, but it is a necessary game mechanic, as it reveals hidden paths and you use it to initiate NPC dialogue. it's not a full-screen white flash like some games like to do, thankfully, but it is still an abrupt lightening of an area of the screen.
there's a free demo on steam if you'd like to test it out and see if it's something you can work with!

I like him but I'm not like INVESTED in the way I am with Steph's stuff#but I am so upset on y'all's behalf. Damian and Jason have gotten so thoroughly fucked over by Zdarsky.#And not even in a way that makes narrative sense or is the logical conclusion to their character flaws#it really is the 'X is the best Robin disease so fuck everyone who isn't them'. Tim is Zdarsky's fave so these other guys need to fuck off#Update: Jason is not dead. which is somehow even worse#because it means they wrote a fake-out death for a character who's defining thing is that he totally actually died#and now they're having a character who LITERALLY DID DIE THAT IS HIS WHOLE THING have a fakeout death#why couldn't it be Dick? Or Tim? Or Damian?#Obviously it wouldn't be Cass or Steph or Duke because Zdarsky doesn't even pretend to care about them#but a Tim fake-out would make sense because Zdarsky is actually really good at writing Tim's whole 'I am Batman's caretaker/keeper' thing#so having Tim 'sacrifice himself' to protect Bruce would make sense and it would also fit with how he's characterized#and because (credit where it's due) Zdarsky is good at writing Tim it would probably be at least interesting if not straight up good#and a Damian fake-out would have made sense to do a while ago because it makes sense logistically and would have#allowed Zdarsky to take him out of the story. which imo is preferable to writing him poorly. it also would have raised the stakes#I'm opposed to a Dick fake-out because like...nah. we've gotten so many of those and I don't want to be reminded of Ric if I can avoid it#but it would have been better than fake killing the guy who DIED FOR REALSIES AND IT'S HIS DEFINING EVENT#Damian also died for realsies but IDK if that's been retconned and also it's not literally his whole thing#Damian is a Robin who died but he is not THE Robin who died

I have long sad thoughts about c3/BH post-finale let's see if I can put it into words
#ignore me#maddie liveblogs cr3#cr spoilers#tldr we know how rushed the campaign was and we can see that in nearly each pc's post-canon future and it makes me sad :(#like BH were barely bonded in comparison to the previous groups#previous pc's lives are all so intertwined. even if not paired together they're still involved one way or another#but I didn't see that in BH's futures and it made me sad#sure imodna and dorym are both canon but in both cases they knew each other pre-BH so does it even count?#as opposed to percy/vex who wouldn't have happened w/o VM or caleb/essek w/o MN#sure BH still visit and interact post-canon but it's not the same#each of them essentially move on in their lives without having changed much and idk I'm :(#thinking about ashton in particular. they lost fcg and got close to fearne but didn't want to cement anything so they're back to being solo#(NOT saying that I think everyone should pair up at the end!!!!! I hate that trope)#idk to me it just felt like everyone moved on from the events of c3 like it was nothing and it doesn't sit right w me#compare: VM are so intertwined. percy has whitestone/cass back bc of VM and is married to vex#even stuff like pike's bakery was all done w vex and taryon. all due to vm.#MN: everything about nott/veth! she got her halfling body back bc of MN!#all the couples literally came together due to MN#every campaign they all mean so much to each other they all involve themselves in each other's lives afterwards#but c3 they only spend barely a few months w each other and it clearly shows#like sure they're on friendly terms and ashton will always visit fearne etc but idk they all moved on like it was just another job#idk it makes me sad :( wish we got more bonding time more shared night watches more WTFIUWT#I'm listening to cr abridged from the start where they're still near strangers and tbh it doesn't feel like they progressed much further#I'm just. :( they're not family.......... sad :((

Man, it's so annoying how recently there has been several things that really emphasize just how much it takes for some people to accept a character is jewish.
Be it from heavily coded in the text with an added word of god, to literally shown or out right stated in the text. Somehow, people will still crawl out of the woodwork to say, "well that doesn't mean they're jewish".
Meanwhile, in almost every piece of media a character could do absolutely nothing in regards to any religion and everyone will immediately just assume they're some flavor of christian. It is treated as the default and not something that has to be revealed. You do not need to dig and sift through the characters entire existence to justify having them celebrate christmas, but god forbid you have the briefest hint of giving them some other religion. People will come out of nowhere asking you why you would do this, demanding you cite your sources for why you would dare sully this character like that.

My parents r atheists with christian parents which means that me and my sibling r atheists with atheist parents. One side effect of this is that christmas is a Big Deal to my parents but I'm atheist enough that christmas has basically no meaning to me outside of "the time of year I get free stuff"
#sep talks#like it's nice to get presents and see family or whatever but there's nothing fundamentally special abt christmas day#as opposed to every other day#we could do christmas early or late and I probably wouldn't notice#idk. It just came up the other day when I was talking to my parents#bc my aunt is hosting and she doesn't have much room so I said oh well I could stay home#and my parents were like oh but it feels wrong for u to be all alone on christmas#and it's like well. To u maybe. To me it is just another day#it feels so weird. U atheist-ed too close to the sun and now ur kids don't believe in christmas as a special time#I have the same kind of feelings abt halloween like it's whatever.
