Hello! I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I just wanted to tell you about how your style has inspired me so much!! Probably an ask you’ve gotten a lot, but I just have to know; how do you go at line work? It looks so good when you do it. Like, you’ve perfected where to leave gaps, what should be thick and thin, what should be subtle shading, etc. I’m so jealous! Do you have any suggestions on how to improve in this area? I’d love some insight!!
Thank you! That's very unexpected to hear but also kind of nice! :D That's the first time anyone has said that to me.
For line weight, Mark Morales covers it very well here
Aside from using line weight to show light source, you can also use it to emphasize stuff, which is what I like doing. I think it's essentially the same logic though- I just bend the rules often to make it work the way I want it to. Lots of trial and error and fixing stuff.
As for the gaps, I don't really know how to explain it without sounding a little weird. I think it's just something I developed as a habit where areas where you're supposed to connect with thin lines, I just don't finish it. Most of the time I don't finish my lines, because I don't need to. I live and embrace the karma of not connected line art when I color it.
I think my style boils down to How do I draw good with the least amount of work which sounds questionable, but the less I focus on whether each individual line connects or looks good, the more stamina I have for the rest of the drawing.
If you've got this hamster, you're like 60% of the way there.
Real answer: probably try doing gesture drawings with the least amount of lines possible with 2 minute timer to simulate what happens in my brain when I do line art. you can try to apply the line weight stuff and think okay where would I apply thickness to show shadow or emphasize curves
#maleinbox#see i notice myself doing it here but I do not know where I picked up the gaps from. I think it may have simply been laziness and I was#a line art hater for a long time. possibly most of my life. in a sense I guess I am disrespecting it by simply drawing the strokes and not#connecting it. because that is so much work and i have so much life to live. and i'm not getting paid for it. gotta go fast#I don't know if this helps#shading.. the shading comes from my previous art style where I painted a lot. i don't really know. i think it might also be#what is the bare minimum shading I can get away with#my honest opinion...the most important thing is maintaining enough energy to finish. therefore sometimes you must do some weird stuff

Wanna ramble about a moment/character in ninjago you think people need to talk about more?
I don't know who you are anon, but I'm glad you asked!
I am desperate for people to character-analyze Wu. I'm desperate for a lot of character analysis including Nya but since I got a lot of my Nya feelings out with some lovely folks the other night (edit: the other night was a month ago dw about it. this took a minute) I'm going with Wu this time
Master Wu to me is such an interesting case of a character who it is so easy to ignore the bits of the show that hint at his wider issues and traumas. He is a man defined heavily by his family and by his past. A lot of criticism he gets, I think, is due in part to that.
I've mentioned before that I've been rewatching S1 with a friend of mine and intermittently pausing to infodump on them about interesting character things I notice from that season. A lot of that has been Wu-focused because despite having seen RotS dozens of times throughout my life (watching it on CN, watching it on Netflix when only it and Legacy were around, rewatching it with friends) I have only just started noticing the seeds of character written in.
I might also just be reading too much into things, but hear me out
In S1 (and by extension, the pilots), Wu is characterized as your typical old wise teacher. In the first few minutes of EP1: Rise of the Snakes, he is chewing out the Ninja for playing video games instead of training. The line he uses? "Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today."
It's a line that gets repeated throughout the series. In fact, it gets repeated that very episode when the ninja go (pun not intended) to fight the Hypnobrai and a literal pre-teen. At first, it seems to just be a piece of wisdom. Some old proverb Wu's picked up over the years, possibly one he even coined himself. However, in EP7: Tick Tock, Wu tells the story of who, possibly, first told him this.
(Source: Tick Tock/Transcript | Ninjago Wiki | Fandom, highlight added.)
It was Garmadon. Now, I'm not gonna dwell too long on Garmadon, if you spend five minutes talking to me you'll learn he was the first character whose story I obsessed over and I want this essay to be about Wu, but I think he plays a role in Wu's overall story, as does Wu's family as a whole.
Prior to this, Wu and Garmadon's relationship has been more of a sibling rivalry taken to a good vs. evil extreme. We didn't know why Garmadon was evil and we didn't know about Wu and his relationship as kids. However, this scene establishes the backstory. They were, as Wu puts it, "the best of friends." That is, until Garmadon gets bit by the Devourer going to get the katana Wu lost.
Now, I know the Devourer bite was destined to happen because of the Overlord or some shit, but Wu doesn't. As far as he's concerned, Garmadon getting bit was a direct consequence of both his mistake and his cowardice. He lost the katana. He was too scared to get it. Garmadon went over instead. Garmadon got bit.
The scene goes on to show the FSM tending to Garmadon in the aftermath. Wu is watching from behind the door, likely told to stay back, but concerned. And in his POV, we get this intense moment, where Garmadon turns, looks directly at him (his eyes turning bright red for the first time), and says "It's all Wu's fault!"
(This clip should begin at the start of Wu eavesdropping. If it doesn't, skip to 0:58. I highly recommend also paying attention to Wu's body language during this scene.)
The camerawork does a great job of showing how this probably felt for Wu. It zooms in, Garmadon's voice echoes, and the background blurs. We see in the flashback that this is a moment Wu has etched into his memory. Not to mention, he was likely a very young child when this happened. LEGO characters' ages are weird, but Wu in this scene has the Big Eyes, which always seem to be used for characters under 12. We don't know exactly how much older Garmadon is to my knowledge, but he doesn't have the Big Eyes, so he's probably closer to 12 and a few years older than Wu for sure.
Imagine that. Being in elementary school and your older siblings gets hurt. They're acting strange. They're lashing out at your father. Then, they blame it all on you. They're hurt because of you. Wouldn't you internalize that?
I could go on about Wu's relationship with Garmadon, but again, I think I've spent enough time on it and I don't want to only focus on that. It's an important part, but there are others.
Let's talk about Wu's relationship with his dad.
Now, I have not yet read the Spinjitzu Brothers series. I cannot speak to any development of Wu and the FSM's relationship in there. I have, however, read The Book of Spinjitzu and blogged some of my thoughts on it here, including some of what it says about Wu.
For those who haven't read it, first, there is a Google Drive folder floating around with all of the canon spinoff books/graphic novels in it. Here's the link if you wanna read them!
The FSM is an... intriguing figure. I mean, in the series he's basically god? He made the entire world. That's already a very high bar to live up to. Then, in Book of Spinjitzu, there's a few specific parts that, when I read them, signaled that Wu internalized a specific message when he was young.
(Source: The Book of Spinjitzu, Page 3).
Wu does not want to disappoint his father. It is up to him (and Garmadon until he turns evil) to "uphold the legacy of Spinjitzu" and, by extension, his family. He says he was "very young" when this was explained to him. Considering he seems to already be training at an elementary age, "very young" means VERY young.
(Source: The Book of Spinjitzu, Page 16).
Here, we again see Wu being very aware that he has some large burden to carry. Something else interesting here is that the thought of the Green Ninja Prophecy is already weighing on him too. His considering if he might be the Green Ninja is of extra interest because of how the Green Ninja Prophecy and the--I wouldn't call it obsession, possibly fixation?--with who it is factors into his later actions, but we'll get to that later.
(Source: The Book of Spinjitzu, Page 19).
This one in particular gets me because it comes after Wu mentions Garmadon becoming more evil. It is a statement of power. Wu knows that the legacy of Spinjitzu now rests in his hands alone. He cannot let himself fall the way Garmadon did. He cannot disappoint his father. Whether or not the FSM intended it, Wu always knew the fate of the world rested, at least in part, upon his shoulder. He knew this from the time he was a young boy and it remains in his mind to this day.
Now, these quotes are indirect, but they all point to one clear idea: As a child, Wu internalized the idea that he alone is responsible for keeping Ninjago safe. He will play a pivotal role in its history.
There's not evidence in this book that the FSM's was a bad father, per se. However, just because one doesn't set out to harm their children, doesn't mean they won't. I often say Wu has an "Atlas complex," which I have no idea if it is an actual concept but use it to refer to this idea. Wu feels as though he is responsible for holding up the world, much like Atlas. He must keep the balance, he must solve the Green Ninja prophecy, he must make his father proud.
(Source: The Book of Spinjitzu, page 61).
I'm going to get further into what this means for Wu as a teacher to the current Ninja Team, but for now let's look at Wu's first foray into teaching.
Morro. Wu's Biggest Mistake.
That might seem like an overstatement, but it's not.
(Source: Ghost Story/Transcript | Ninjago Wiki | Fandom)
Okay he says regret, not mistake, but I was paraphrasing.
Let's turn back to his quote about his destiny. Wu writes, "Is my life's mission to be the Green Ninja? Or maybe it will be to find the Green Ninja and protect him (or her)??"
From a very young age, Wu was not only aware of the Green Ninja but prophecy but also thinking about his place in it. We see this again when he takes Morro in and trains him.
(Source: Ghost Story/Transcript | Ninjago Wiki | Fandom, highlight added)
A big thing Wu is criticized for here is making Morro believe he is meant to be more. That he is the Chosen One. And Morro, being a young homeless orphan just now given some semblance of power and protection, latches onto that. And I can see it, but when you take into account the above that he was trained from (likely) a younger age than Morro and given a similar level of responsibility, it becomes more understandable. Wu is just doing what he was taught. He doesn't believe that he is harming Morro until it is too late.
youtube
This is the entire story, but I'm specifically going to be discussing 1:36 onwards here. I also wanted to add that rewatching this scene made me lay down on the floor! What the fuck! But I digress.
There's a lot going on in this scene. For one, Wu washing his hands of Morro in some ways, but not others. He turns his back on Morro when he tells him that destiny has decided, but looks at him again when Morro storms out. He goes to save Morro from the Grundal, but decides that he cannot "teach those who would not listen." Most importantly, when Morro leaves to go find the Tomb of the FSM, Wu leaves the door open. He waits for Morro to return, but never goes after him. And Morro never comes back.
Wu gives Morro's fate a dismissive response at the end of his ghost story ("I am saddened he was banished to the Cursed Realm") but it's clear he still cares deeply about him in the finale of the season.
youtube
Wu's VA in this is phenomenal btw. That "Please Morro!" and "MORRO!" make my heart ache.
Morro believed Wu stopped caring, but he didn't. Even after all he's done, even after trying to destroy all of Ninjago--destroying what Wu had spent his life trying to protect--Wu tries to save him. He begs for Morro to come with him. Morro refuses, Wu watches him perish.
Someone else Wu is close to is gone. Wu again considers himself responsible. Everything is his fault.
And finally, we reach Wu today. A cautious, secretive man. He loves his students, this much is clear. Even as early as the pilots, he drops his wise teacher persona to joke around with them.
youtube
As with Morro, he trains them like his father did him. He even uses the same methods his father used when he trains them.
(Source: The Book of Spinjitzu, page 32)
youtube
While he is hard on the Ninja, wanting them to succeed and training them to help defend the Realm, he lets his guard down more than it seems he did with Morro. He also learned a valuable message from his experience with Morro when he hides the Green Ninja Prophecy from the Ninja, getting angry when they start to push themselves in the same way Morro did upon learning about it. It's clear he doesn't want a repeat.
Now, I can't speak for later seasons (I will eventually) but this fear of repeats, his students going down a dark path because they're tempted by power or greatness, losing someone else, likely drives Wu not telling them other important information. That is just a passing thought though.
Final notes:
I'm currently in the process of rewatching S7: Hands of Time. I actually got this ask right after finishing EP68: Scavengers, which opens with Wu having a nightmare. In it, he and Misako are walking outside of Yang's temple. While walking, Misako delivers this line in response to Wu reminiscing about the time they've spent together:
(Source: Scavengers/Transcript | Ninjago Wiki | Fandom)
This line, to me, is Wu's subconscious trying to tell him something he needs to hear. It's hinting at what might be his greatest flaw. Wu is haunted by his past, by his mistakes. He finds it difficult to tell others because of both his guilt and his desire to not put that worry upon them. In this very season, he makes the mistake of trying to face his past on his own, and he nearly dies for it.
In the same episode, you see Wu trying to make sure Lloyd doesn't make the same mistakes.
(Source: Prev)
Wu stresses the important of the team. It's as if he sees Lloyd blaming himself for what happened to Wu, sees him doing the same thing Wu has, and is trying to prevent him from doing the same thing. This is further emphasized when, after Wu falls asleep (well, fakes falling asleep), Lloyd says "Wu's mistake was going in alone. So was mine."
Master Wu is, like many characters in this show, someone who is more complex than meets the eye. He is not just a wise, old teacher. He is a man who, throughout his life, has made mistakes and carries the weight of each of them on his shoulders. He is a man who tasks himself with making up for those every day. He is a man who wants better for his students, his family.
Until the day he dies, he will guide and protect his students. And possibly? Even after death too.

I think the reason why King the Land has such polarized opinions regarding its (or lack of) plot is because it's basically a live-action fanfiction. One day, they're spending a day in the countryside and drinking outside at night like an old couple, the other they're marring each other as if they were still in Joseon, then she's dressed up as if she was a princess when he becomes her butler. Soon after, they even go on a trip to Thailand that almost feels like their honeymoon. There's never any consequences to those situations because we never get taught the details (for example, Sarang never had to tell her manager she had to leave with prince Samir and we don't really know who's looking after Daeul's daughter while she's away). It almost feels like all those different situations are alternate universes, just like in fanfiction. Each episode has its own setting and its own rules.
I totally understand why people would dislike the drama. Pretty much everything in the drama is just filler. While I agree that a romcom's plot is the romance, I still think people saying King the Land lacks a plot is a valid criticism. The main characters don't really have any personal goals (beside Won searching for his mother) so there are no real stakes in the story. All those cool, funny or romantic moments just come one after another without much substance. But, for some reason, it's working?! At least to me! I suppose it's because it's fanfiction-ish so it relies on the two main leads chemistry and oh boy I think we all agree that Yoona and Junho have so much chemistry! I doubt the drama would have worked so well without them. You can also feel like the drama doesn't try to be more serious than it actually is. It's pure entertainment! Will I still think of it in a few months? I doubt it, but for now I'm just enjoying this lighthearted story and this comforting couple!
#king the land#.txt#honestly i usually dislike this kind of drama#so im surprised to love it that much#despite what it may look like this is NOT a hater post lmao#i'm really loving this drama#and i don't think we should fight over opinions on it

You absolutely COOKED on this!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
If I remember correctly, some of Aster's intimacy rooms go more into depth on his loneliness, but this angle of "always having to put on an act" is something new---definitely worth exploring!
(And though, as you said, this may age poorly [but I don't care]---I'm still a proud member of the Huey Haters Club!!!! I don't care if it was just cluelessness on Huey's part; he hurt Aster, Morvay, and pretty much everyone who knew him, leaving lasting scars. Fuck that dude!!!!)
I hope we get to see more of Aster's acting capabilities from a more introspective view point. It's so fascinating to me how he and Morvay are almost opposites when it comes to communicating with real emotions.
Morvay is joked around to be insatiable and shameless with how horny he is, but that's because he's so honest that it becomes his detriment. Morvay is so accepting of his own emotions, how he functions and presents himself that what people might think of him is a mere afterthought. I'm sad that a lot of people miss it, but Morvay acts largely by his own emotions and desires, it's only at really important moments that he sets aside his own wants in favor of the most optimal outcome. And even then, he'll show hesitation or a clear distaste for it. It's not just lust, Morvay is so unbelievably honest to both himself and the world that it gets used as a punchline for innuendos. And because of this, Morvay can't lie (at least, lie by himself without instruction or guidance) or act to save his life.
Aster on the other hand is harder to read. In his SSR intimacy rooms (as well as his R room I think) Aster states that in order to keep up the appearance that he's a human being, he's had to stage his own death and pretend to be his own descendant. Because of this, Aster had to learn how to talk, act and present himself differently across his fake lives. Not only that, but most obviously, Aster is a businessman, a morally questionable one at that. We've seen multiple time throughout events and stories that Aster has the ability to manipulate and pull strings for the convenience of both himself and Eiden. Aster would also need to act in these cases. He needs to put a front, make himself look desperate or powerful. Make it seem like he's on his last legs or have exactly what the other party wants.
Even outside of business, Aster acts. He's kind of a brat, loves attention, pretends to be angel while being into hardcore BDSM with him as the Dom.. And I can't help but wonder... What if the writers addressed this on a deeper level? With both morvay and aster.
Imagine an event or a chapter with Aster questioning his own honesty. When Eiden praises him, is it real gratitude or is it him desperately clinging onto a master's love? When he makes money, does he truly enjoy the feeling of income or is it the feeling of owning something, controlling something, that makes him happy? When he parades himself to be cute, generous, wise and a person worth adoring, is that a true display of ego or is Aster reassuring himself? Reassuring himself that he's a person worth loving because of all the years of solitude and neglect? You could say the "pretending to be okay" has been done by Eiden, Edmond or Olivine, but those guys are usually aware of themselves to a degree. They pretend to be okay for the comfort of others, but in Aster's case, it's pretending for the comfort of himself.
Imagine if we could tie this into Morvay as well. Because Morvay has been true to himself since his birth, surely Aster would want to know what that's like. To simply be yourself without consequence, to be that "shameless". Hell, Morvay could probably help Aster realize his baggage in this way, though he may not be fully aware of it. Even though they've been living together for nearly a century, the way they live is so different from one another. Morvay has always been himself despite his ups and downs, and Aster has changed in order to cope with the pain of being abandoned. Imagine Aster, genuine and confused, asking Morvay "How do you do it? How do you live purely as yourself and not like anyone else?"
And y'know what, let's add Eiden in here as well!! Because as much as Eiden knows about the struggles and traumas of his clan members, the game very unfortunately hasn't gone very deep with him and his familiars. I hope to god Chapter 16 goes into them more, and addresses what Huey's disappearance has done to these poor men. Aster especially. Morvay is open as a public bible (ironically), but even Eiden misunderstands or can't get a full read on Aster. He knows the familiars desperately miss Huey, and were devastated at Huey's disappearance, but imagine Eiden finding out just how much deeper their trauma goes. Imagine Eiden holding his familiars close and promising that he's not going to abandon them, not going to leave them without a word, and that he loves them dearly. That would especially destroy Aster.
This particular statement may age poorly, but imagine if Aster and Morvay never once heard Heuy say that he loves them? Like, yes, he may have shown gratitude and praised the familiars doing their jobs, but imagine if they never got a full blown "I love you" from the man? And what if Eiden was the one to finally deliver that message for them? God. DEVS HIRE ME I'LL WORK FOR FREE SSRs (/j)

March–April 2024. A very strange, frequently tasteless, mostly inexplicable black comedy political satire from the creator of SUCCESSION — though more strongly reminiscent, presumably on purpose, of the 2017 THE DEATH OF STALIN — THE REGIME is a six-part miniseries starring a self-consciously frumpy-looking, outrageously hammy Kate Winslet as Elena Vernham, the egomaniacal authoritarian chancellor of an unnamed Ruritanian state somewhere in Central Europe.
As her hapless husband (Guillaume Gallienne) and self-dealing underlings tiptoe around her growing list of neuroses and increasingly erratic mood swings, a soldier named Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), notorious for his role in a brutal massacre of striking mine workers, is recruited to play a hard-to-define, ever-shifting supporting role in Elena's ongoing psychological breakdown and various political confrontations.
Winslet seems to have been having fun, although she overacts shamelessly, and what accent she thinks she's doing seems to vary from moment to moment; the median could best be described as "Margaret Thatcher, very tipsy, trying to pretend she's not sucking on an Everlasting Gobstopper." Schoenaerts, for reasons that are never clear, plays Zubak like a punch-drunk boxer trying to walk off a life-threatening concussion, leaving his character a perplexing cipher throughout.
Like THE DEATH OF STALIN (which I thought wildly overrated), THE REGIME is more often crass and uncomfortable than actually funny, and its smug misogyny would be offensive if taken seriously (which is admittedly very difficult). Also, given the current state of the UK, watching the largely British cast mock the political instability of a fictitious "Middle European" autocracy causes some seasickness. (Whistling past the graveyard, perhaps, but still.) CONTAINS LESBIANS? No! VERDICT: Much more "funny strange" than "funny ha-ha," and because it's basically a one-note joke, it becomes like one of those terrible SNL skits that just won't end.
#teevee#hateration holleration#the regime#kate winslet#matthias schoenaerts#i realize i'm basically just talking to myself here#but i have no one to rant at about how inexplicably weird and awful this stupid show is#people who liked succession might rate it more highly#but i thought succession was hot garbage and a lot of you who loved it did so for reasons that make me think less of you#no matter how much affection you have for kate winslet#(a little or a lot)#this show will sorely test it#i fear that in mocking it i may inadvertently make it sound like it's actually funny#which it really is not#there's some fleeting but really ugly mask-off shit in the finale#that underscores that the whole thing is primarily about hating women and especially the idea of working for women#(obviously elena is a horror but she's like an editorial cartoon)#(drawn by one of those guys who think smartphones are degenerate)

Cute on the tags but not a snoot fanboy and even then the voice work was mid at best since I swear over half the cast couldn’t emote to save their careers. I’m pretty sure after 5+ years there wouldn’t be model breaking glitches or soft locking bugs in a game like that.
Why don't you go rant about it on your own blog then instead of polluting my inbox with your garbage takes that I clearly do not agree with and have no interest in?
#gvh discourse#i'm not apologizing for assuming you were a snoot game fan#there's so much overlap between sg fans and gvh haters#that they may as well just be one group#also i didn't see any bugs like that in my playthrough#maybe the ps5 version was the most stable at launch?#who knows

Arthur in 1x05: *says that he should've known about Lancelot's identity fraud because he "doesn't even look like a knight"*
Me, to Arthur:
...besides, es muy guapo, no? i thought that was the only requirement
#Lancelot may be too noble to just deck him#but good news! I Am Not#.......question tho: he was talking abt Lancelot being latino here right?#cuz he can't just be talking about his clothes#the only time Arthur saw Lancelot in anything but typical nobleman's armor was the broom handle fight scene#in which 1) Lancelot was in the middle of the many menial tasks Arthur had assigned him so it made sense for him to be dressed down#and 2) his and Arthur's outfits were pretty similar anyway so it seems likely that it's just typical daywear#he's also not talking about Lancelot's hair being long#cuz..... Leon#and it's easily within the realm of possibility given how Arthur's also pretty overtly sexist in his s1 bully phase#so i just can't think of anything else he could mean#to conclude: i am NOT an Arthur hater#i'm not saying he's Evil#just that i Do Very Much Want To Punch Him Here#(as a lot of people--including Merlin--probably did throughout s1 lol)#bbc merlin#merlin#bbc lancelot#lancelot#lancelot du lac

skinamarble hornets, i was like i hope my favorite skinamascene has been uplomarinked on youtube....reminds me of that season one marble hornets entry that's the First House Visit and how i saw it described somewhere as like "absolutely nothing happens, & it's terrifying" & it reminds me of the torment of watching as the series was released & Every Time something came out, no matter what happened in like setting, atmosphere, plot, scares, there'd be someone going "ugh another Nothing entry" over the most crucial &/or enjoyable shit so long as it didn't feature [& he's cookin hot dogs on the stove???] & didn't feature it like every other minute for good measure. as though a format that is predictable, like the promise of the same kind of scene in the same intervals of timing, would actually be scary or at all interesting. shoutout to these the entries, or even intervals of time within entries, where "absolutely nothing happens" and it's called suspense in knowing it Could, tension in an unsafe, uneasy, unsettling situation in the meantime, & then also potential followup recontextualization that only creates more tension for later similar material. ("absolutely nothing" happens (of course, actually, things happen, but) in the skinamarink scene save for the literal last few seconds when the "jumpscare" is a very brief change in audio & visuals which is neither actually that loud nor like showing anything scary(tm) (technically a la marble hornets i think people say you can like see an arm extend for a nanosecond but i never catch it if so lol) but rather hits at all because of 8 minutes of suspense & tension & Nothing Happening But It Could) (also bravely standing up like "it's fine that skinamarink has some jumpscares, including the obvious few even jumpier than this" like who cares if it's "easy" necessarily & also that Knowing such startlement can happen ramps up the tension even when it didn't, but it could've. like so)
#finally some Yeah Yayyy (horror i've seen that wasn't [all the stuff where at this point i may as well not even say i like horror])#i kind of do in the sense that i go Wheee at enjoyable [aaa tension aaa gripping the handlebars] like so. & some ppl don't#& that the genre can obviously express fun interesting things. skinamarink e.g. is one of the really few things where like#plenty of people can go ''so my avg tuesday as a four year old'' Like Me when you really don't see it portrayed well hardly at all#other like ''oh nooo the experience of child abuse'' in horror or in Anything is like. head in hands scream (not in a good way)#this has both the like often literal physical perspective of small children. the metaphorical perspective of small children#(like even if one's parents were Fine & not as much an omnipotent haunting temperamental presence either awol or insistently toying w/you#were you not likely stuck in a Living Space unless & until whichever adult you were landed with; tossup re: malice levels towards you;#decided to bring you out of it (or you had Official Transit somewhere like for school) & Even Then. stuck living with adult guardian#until legal adulthood anyways which Is literal multiple [live your Entire Life over again]s away when you're very small. & even then like#people generally can't actually up & Escape the instant they're eighteen. but anyways the One Zillion Years [Killing You] Loop applies#metaphorically. & the [Killing You] Loop Just B/c Someone Can applies to plenty of situations ppl aren't four but still lack power#anyways re: this specific clip my favorite element probably of this favorite scene are the perfectly quiet Technically Unthreatening audio#where the seeming parent voice is not Loud but is suddenly a) inexplicably close by & b) too Almost playful already#almost singsong; feeling just a tiny bit too slow. like that makes it Intrusive in this way & entirely unsettling & ominous lol. dissonant#& aptly resonates with [yeah i've had similar very young nightmaresque scenarios. about being called by parent figures]#apt when it's like & yeah growing up in the heck dimension trying to deal by fending for yourself or nervously catering to the entities#is like yes it's obviously The Horrors & it's also The Comedy (enough of the same thing)#also apt when the inspiration & evoked Experience is meant to be truly surreal. dream formatting#limited visuals in scope & depth & clarity; moving from one place or view to another without usual Logics of progression there. yolo#next favorite bit is the very end. avoiding having faces shown so much & then one as the only thing you see but very out of focus#and then nothing happens lol thee end. but you hold your breath peel off the armrests anyways! phone bit is great too. efficient#anyways still a hater over MH complainers ''ohh nothing happened oohh more trees'' like yeah yeah i'm sure you could pare it down#i'm sure you could pare down [looking at a wall] shots in skinamarink but who cares. It's Fine As Is & shaving it down risks ruining it#Youtube

I'm glad you think of us trying to bully you as a safe space <3
BUT I DO!!!!!!!!!
Bullying from anons warm and cozy, oh to be tormented by people who knows which buttons to press and use this knowledge specifically to make you flustered, happy, and feeling silly. what's not to like!!
But honestly tho, i almost mentioned in the other ask i got today about whether i'm okay with my blog becoming an ask blog like this, but then i didn't bc i thought it might be mean spirited, but now i'm right back on it-- is that one undeniable perk of the anon is that i actually check my dash far less now.
And while there will always be content i will miss seeing (especially information post about irl issues which i do think are important to be aware of, or good arts, or what people i like on here are up to), by god am i not missing reading negative petty fandom stuff.
Even things i agree with leave me with a major bad taste in my mouth because when it's all you see, it just ends up being like poison tainting everything else.
Being able to take a step back, mostly enjoying the things you enjoy, and having the negative stuff being something you discuss with yourself, is much more freeing at the end of the day.
So in the end just genuinely messing around, being silly, making fun HCs just because why the fuck not, is really so, so much more enjoyable to me.
Like, sure, i've been scarred beyond repair by some stuff shared here, but that's the price to pay -- but in the end since i'm having fun, what's not to like yaknow?
so like, i actually genuinely appreciate the anons, they do stop me from doomscrolling and spiraling on most day because everytime it pulls me back into some comfort zone, even if it's to terrorize me in it. Sometimes it can take a bit for me to go back to the headspace needed to answer the anons -- but i take that, everyday, over just reading negative stuff that just ends up leave me spiraling alone with my thoughts yaknow?
So, actually, thanks y'all for deciding to terrorize my inbox -- this is, without a doubt, the best thing that ever happened to me 💞💞
#ichareply#ichasalty#anonymous#like the one key thing about it is that the person i was reading was a hater in ways i'm also a hater on some stuff#(+ a hater of something i actually like but in a way i understood but therefore made it worse)#so like. i was AGREEING with some it. or at least understanding the angle. the opinion was super insightful. also super depressing.#reading 2 years worth of someone's negative opinions on something that has goods and bads but therefore so much focus on the bads#it just... just leaves such a 'whats the point! what's the point!!' in my head that is so horrible#like. something something but i think socmed being so much about screaming into the void and all#means that thoughts lingers and echos without actually a place to resolve them#and you're left alone with them and overwhelmed as they accumulate#which will always be different from asks and discussions which are actually a back and forth yaknow?#and it's different to be part of the conversation than just reading after the fact#at the end of the day it's my bad for doomscrolling. i may not be smart.#but it's so easy to get caught into it especially when you agree because you want to hear more about this angle in particular#and before you know you went too deep and it's like ah. how do i get back to the surface again now.#it's good to address flaws in what you like... but i also think there's ways where it can become damaging especially when it's passively#ANYWAY IM JUST RAMBLING BUT AAAAAAARGHHHHHH#I LOVE YOU ALL THE ANONS IN MY ASKS. YOU MAKE RUNNING THIS BLOG WORTHWHILE. THANK YOU FOR DEEMING ME WORTH BULLYING ILYS
