I know we mostly only get little hints of them throughout, but I really loved this interaction between these two? Like. I already talked about it from Dan Heng's side over here. But! I'm dying over this part about Boothill, and just how much he trusts and feels he can rely on Dan Heng!!

Because when we first arrive on Penacony, March 7th and the Trailblazer are confused about the check in details. But Dan Heng caught on immediately.

It's stated multiple times in multiple ways: Galaxy Rangers generally work alone. Boothill is helping out Rappa because he owes her a favor, and shortly afterwards, he returns to his own Hunt. He coordinates with Robin and March 7th because he comes across them by happenstance. Dan Heng is the only person that Boothill purposely reaches out to, and he does it in a way that only Dan Heng would figure out.

And it works! Even though they aren't able to actually contact each other, Boothill's secret note left for Dan Heng is the first sign to him that something is amiss in Penacony, and to stay on guard. And it's only when Rappa says she's with Boothill that Dan Heng decides to truly trust her and lend her a hand.

Without the Nameless' aid, the Galaxy Rangers probably wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as they did. It was a group project. It took the combined effort of a lot of people. But it started here with these two! And even without being able to see or speak to each other, Boothill and Dan Heng somehow still manage to work together and make all of this happen! Off nothing but their belief in each other alone!!

When something big is going down, there is no one Boothill wants on his side more than Dan Heng, and that's just so!! SO!!! OUGH

I discovered these paintings by James McNeill Whistler recently, Nocturne in Black and Gold: Falling Rocket (top) and Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Firewheel (bottom). I’m sharing them because they make me think of Nevermoor, as so many things do.

With paintings, a nocturne refers to the depiction of night. This is derived from the musical term, where a nocturne refers to a musical piece that is “inspired by, or evocative of, the night.” These both just come from the fact that “nocturne” essentially means “of the night”.

On a basic level, this just reminds me of Nevermoor by the aesthetics. The dreamy nighttime setting strikes me the most, but also the sparks of yellow fire that make me think of Wunder. Think of how many important scenes happen at night- Morrigan on Eventide, the Museum of Stolen Moments, and the Hollowpox in Courage Square. But the concept has me thinking, obviously, about the Wundrous Art of Nocturne. The only songs we know are Morrigan and Squall’s, who both chose nursery rhymes as their Nocture. Their choices make me think of lullabies, sung at night… and there’s lots to think about with that.

i posted abt this on my tiktok story but i need to rant more so im putting it here 😭😭 the way a lot of mikosai shippers (on tiktok, pinterest, reddit, etc) are is such a big reminder to me of why i hate the strictly romantic soulmates trope with every fiber of my being 😭😭😭 people who interpret soulmates as "that means theyre canonically together" regardless of how the characters actually feel about each other and if they ACTUALLY get together is so fucking gross to me oh my god its so fucking gross i hate forced romance so bad 😭😭 someone cant just say "hey, we're soulmates so you HAVE to date me and its literally weird and impossible for you to like anyone else because i said so!!" and also aiura WOULDNT do that anyway ???? HELLOOO???

related to this do you think part of the reason javier wanted to be a knight of the frontera family so badly was because. that way he could stay. that way he could always be with them. maybe he wasn't and never would be part of the family, not really, but as long he could stay with them... couldn't that be enough? wasn't being allowed to stay worth giving his loyalty and even his life for them?

and do you think arcos accepted javier's oath as knight because he thought that maybe this way he could get him to stay. this way the child he grew to love as his own son would never have to leave. that he saw the kid he'd raised all those years, barely an adult and already ready to put his life in the line for someone else, and when he was offered the chance to keep him at his family's side forever, he took it with guilty relief. aware that if javier left he would go on to do great amazing things, so talented he'd be sought after by kings and emperors, but equally aware of the dangers that carried. that if javier left there was a chance he would never see him again. but if he stayed with them, if he stayed in their quiet and boring estate where nothing really happened... maybe he wouldn't become the great hero arcos knew he could, but he would be safe. and he's not javier's father, he missed that chance and he doesn't know if he can ever have it back, but he loves the kid like he were and isn't a father's duty to worry about his children's safety above anything else? isn't it worth it for the world to have one less hero if he's keeping his kid where he's safe?
