When the realization finally settled in, Atsushi had to restrain himself in order not to let out a surprised gasp that might have broken the moment’s… magic?

Akutagawa had fallen asleep, against all odds. Sure, he was more than well aware of how not even him could be immune to basic needs such as that; the fact that he slept in general was no news to Atsushi (duh). What had thrown him off was something way simpler and yet more strange: Akutagawa had fallen asleep right then and there, in his presence.

And, on top of that, he looked fairly peaceful as well. 

“This might be the first time I don’t see you frowning, or scowling, or…” No, that wasn’t true. “I mean, I saw you smiling back at the ship, when…” When he had put his life on the line to save Atsushi. “But I couldn’t exactly stop and take in the view, y��know.”

Taking in the view was what he was doing now, for there was nothing stopping him from staring, from dedicating his full focus on engraving that image in his memory since there was no guarantee he would be witnessing again. Or maybe it could happen, but considering it as a tangible possibility would be a bit dumb; Akutagawa being comfortable enough to fall asleep near him again might be a little bit too much wishful thinking, after all.

“I–” Atsushi had been whispering the whole time, but he took a second to lower his voice even more before continuing. “I hope I can see that again.”

“And I hope the expression itself is the only thing you hope for, jinko.” Akutagawa suddenly deadpanned, effectively startling him. When had he woken up? How much had he heard? Did Atsushi really want to know?

SO Linda has a hard time sleeping because her heart doesn't beat and she has to move her blood consciously, right? I can't stop thinking about her falling asleep on Ray's chest and it being the first time she's able to sleep without interruption because of his heartbeat.

Kunikida being the one sober at the end of the hangout wasn’t uncommon; in fact, there was a system in theory, but in practice it tended to be either Yosano or him most of the time… since Ranpo only half counted, given how he wasn’t very prone to drinking due to only actually committing with sweet enough stuff. And Dazai… it wasn’t to say they couldn’t count on him for moments like these, but… Kunikida would rather not talk about those times when it was him getting walked home by him while drunk.

For nothing in particular (lies).

Right then, he was the one walking Dazai home instead, and either Dazai was legit so drunk he couldn’t walk in a straight line or he was pulling an incredible act to have Kunikida hold him by the waist while they both moved. Not like he minded being so close to him, but…

“Y’know, Kunikida-kun?” With how Dazai was, he had no idea, but it seemed like that was a ‘drunk in a confessional’ kind of night (Kunikida himself had had a bunch of those). “I like you a lot.”

“I like you too.” Kunikida promptly answered, because Dazai was just saying things right then, was he? Besides, it was true.

“No, dummy!” Dummy? “I like you, y’know?” Him stopping very suddenly made Kunikida stop too. And, once they were both just standing there, Dazai pressed a really intense kiss to his cheek.

Which, of course, also made him realize that wasn’t just saying things.

So, long story short, Kunikida’s face started to redden in a matter of seconds, accompanied by a spiking in the beating of his heart.
