QUICK UPDATE ON MY WIP (using this tweet i posted today)

HI GUYS! september is finally here so are uni, teacher student practice, english classes to get my final certificates and, hopefully, part time job as an english teacher, which means nothing but i won't have much time to write, but i'll try my best to give you weekly updates (i'm currently struggling with anxiety over some uni stuff but as soon as i get news about that i'll be fine!)

so, as for my wip, this is what i can tell you about the ones i have in mind right now and that i consider that are a priority (you have more information about them before keep reading):

-> GOODBYES ARE BITTERSWEET (ferrari!seb x ex gf singer!reader): most requested one (actually i'm quite impressed tbh). i have lots of parts and smaus planned and, if i have time to, i'm planning on posting four/five parts and one/two smaus (remember that seb and y/n are meeting in the next part, can't wait for you guys to read it!). next part almost written but I need to do some corrections :)

-> HOLD ON TO HOPE (rbr!seb x bff!reader | spider-man au): writing parts 1 and 2 (both of them are already planned and ready to finish writing)

-> OOPS, I DID IT AGAIN (lewis x pregnant!reader): planning on writing parts 1 and 2 this month

-> HISTORY (seb x race engineer wife!reader): i'd love to post the intro of meeting (first volume on this series, based on 2008) + prologue and parts 1 and two (as they're already written and they just need correction because remember this series the first one i posted here and i wasn't comfortable with it)

Within the writing themes of Spiderverse and on a meta level(which counts as one),Ghostpunk makes more sense than than Ghost.Flower.Important note:I'm not anti G/M,this is simple my meta on why Hobie and Gwen work so well

Gwen went to visit Miles but she thought to put on Hobie's sweater first and he lets her add her own customization to it as seen by the patches on it that were confirmed to be hers and not his.Gwen steals Hobie's clothes as a way to make herself feel safe and even took his chucks too to emulate his style.She did steal Miles' jacket but only way after she did that with Hobie's clothes at multiple points

Miles accidentally forced Gwen to get a haircut and Gwen chose to dye it part pink,the color Hobie turns when he's happiest,notably only after she met Hobie and it brings to mind she wanted to always have something on her that reminds her of Hobie

In the comics,Hobie was a Gwen Stacy fanboy and Gwen was that cool slightly older girl it'd easy for most boys to get a crush on.In the movies,Gwen looks up to Hobie and he's that cool slightly older boy it's easy for most girls to get a crush on.And also in the comics,Gwen owns a The Ramones shirt and Hobie is a The Ramones fan too as seen by his playlist.They're the same......in the important ways

We see Gwen yapping about Hobie first thing as his drop in the movie,to Miles and when he inquires if he's her friend like he is,she replies 'That's different!' and i say oh i'm sure!!!There's hint drops that indicate Gwen might've talked to Spider Society about Miles often but we don't get to actually see it happen like we did Ghostpunk's part so it's hard to believe the former is romantic and completely textual but the latter isn't

Following up that point,Pavitr states in a teasing tone Miles wouldn't know about Hobie from Gwen twice and the implication is obviously that Ghostpunk is romantic in some way and if it's not Gwobie evidence,then 'He must be in love with you!' isn't Gw.iles evidence either as Gwen denied both anyway

Hobie was never trying to make Miles jealous with his way of flirting with Gwen and was made so he could be taken as genuienly crushing on her confirmed by his VA.Hobie also already saved Gwen before Miles did,by letting her crash in his dimension when she was homeless and convincing her to join his band so she could feel like when she was back then before Peter died and giving her the emotional support and fun she needed as she did him by helping him like a real kid post-adultification and even crafted a Watch for her when she needed to save Miles but not before destroying her cop dad's ass and not without forcing him to leave her his love note.The specific 'In case it don't work out' wording used inline with the attempt at a Ghostpunk + Ghost.Flower love triangle reads as a double meaning and in-universe subliminal messaging that's absolutely in-character for Hobie to pull(he pulled Gwen already too)

Self-Love suits Ghostpunk directly rather than mostly just metaphors.Drink too much,think too much,thoughts drownin' me(havin' a laugh at a pub with the mandem),you don't know love you just show love stop doubtin' me(fitting to both Gwen and Hobie's canonical traumas and their coping mechanisms,including them not becoming official purely because their insecurities had them thinking the other could would never love them romantically,at least at first),cuff me told the truth to him he don't trust me(George and Hobie's interaction),hate to see yeah woah money scheme yeah woah(it's a metaphor for capitalism),live and questionable(i'm not a role model + him encouraging her to punk out to her full self with George no longer holding her back),love hanging out say you hate it now(Gwen's Hobie love denials she only used so Pavitr would shut up and never holding back when it's just her and him)

Gwen is pastel watercolors and Hobie is an old school zine but they're both basically human mood rings.They both had scenes of teaching Miles how to use his hands to better Spiderman and standing up against an authority figure as they turned a blue as deep as how much their rage towards the system for screwing them over runs

In every other universe,Hobie Brown is a bad guy or not that important.But in this universe,Hobie Brown isn't actually evil,he's just a good kid who's really troubled because all the adults in his life are either gone or failed him on purpose and despite everything,he rose to be the personification of afropunk and Earth 138's Spiderhero.In his universe,Gwen Stacy is still a ghost and she dosen't haunt him since she wasn't his Gwen.His Gwen wasn't a canon event for him and that plays up his not believing in consitency

And Gwen feeling so comfortable around Hobie she's not afraid to fall for him is proof they should be together,not proof she dosen't love him.How deep their connection goes is up them(direct quote by Daniel Kaluuya,Hobie's va)not canon and that's what Gwen wants.She chose Hobie this whole time

Hello hello! Thank you so much for asking this question, I literally live to talk about this stuff. For those of you who haven't seen the resource post being referred to, you can find it here!

So, I actually asked George about what music Edwin would have enjoyed before his death during his first round of cameos, and based on his answers, I don't think he knows a whole lot about classical music (which is fair enough). Because of that, I think his reasons for picking that song were likely more feeling-based than history based! So, let's talk about it.

So, The Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss (otherwise known as An der schönen blauen Donau) is a waltz piece, as the name suggests. A waltz piece is a piece that is almost always written in 3/4 time (otherwise known as 'waltz time') because the waltz can only be danced to pieces in triple time (almost always 3/4, but also conceivably in 6/8, if a composer wants to be annoying). Waltzes are known for their smooth, gliding motion and perpetual forward momentum. They very much inspire movement, so I think in some way, you're right! They very much match the frantic, anxious energy of trying to escape a monster.

Also! You've stumbled upon something that I've actually talked about quite a bit with my music composition/film scoring students (I also teach orchestral composition, on occasion). In many famous villain scenes, you will often find very upbeat and/or soothing classical music set amongst violent fights/torture scenes/other various villainous acts.

The most famous would probably be A Clockwork Orange paired with Beethoven's 9th symphony or Bach's Goldberg Variations in the Silence of The Lambs, but I've also seen Bach's cello suite paired with a great many villain scenes (the one that comes to mind is Wilson Fisk from Daredevil). Classical music has a long history of being used in horror movies and as villainous themes, so I think the fact that George paired it with the doll spider is very fitting.

As for his listening to the music box version, the doll spider was in the Doll House, surrounded by broken dolls and childish laughter. I think the sound of a music box would be the best way to get into that sort of mindset for sure.

as well as getting locked in posted, i've got another lengthy arthurtv fic started off, in the early stages (and i've left a sneaky peek down below here) where the reader is george's best friend and falls in love with arthur so i'm excited for that one to take off!

a lot has been started so hopefully they'll be with you soon but enjoy these sneak peeks! the prompts are in bold and italics! x

George was having a terrible day (for any reason) and he’s down and gloomy about it, but the reader (a friend of his) takes care of him and makes sure he’s okay and long story short they fall in love and end up doing it on his couch while Arthur and Chris are away.

"don't be mad at me."

silence.

"yn, please."

he caught the lingering side-eye that she gave him and a smirk toyed at his lips.

"i'll get on my knees and beg if i have to," he states and the hollow of her cheek became a dimple as she chewed on the flesh inside her mouth, "oh, i see how it is. you want me to beg, don't you?"

the cushions move beside her and she's jostled around as he stands himself up from the sofa and, suddenly, a wave of cool air replaces the heat from his body that he emitted. the television being hidden behind his body and he adjusted the t-shirt that had ridden up his body and had become untucked from his jeans. and she really can't look away from him when he's kneeling before her.

she tries to keep the annoyed look on her face... except... it was hard when he knelt down in front of her, hands flat on her thighs, with a look in his eyes that held a lot more than apologies.

"please, stop ignoring me. i can't deal with it," he whispers, his eyes are level with hers and his orbs are a darker shade than normal, and she can sense her own mirroring his demeanour, "i need you to look at me, i need you to talk to me, i need you to stop being so annoyed with me because i'm an idiot."

his fingers were dangerously close to a zone that would have her like putty in his hands, melting into the cushions around her, completely at his disposal.

"jesus christ," he grumbles lowly, like he needed a pep-talk with his mind to confess what he needed to say, "i need you, yn."

please can you write something with arthurTV and reader going through a dry spell and putting an end to it !!

placing a hand on her back, he retracts it quick once he realised she didn't hear him enter the room, her whole body jumping at the sudden appearance of his touch.

"jesus, arthur."

"i'm so sorry," he laughs softly, setting her mug of tea down in an empty space on her desk and making sure it was away from any piece of paper that seemed important, "i thought you heard me come in."

"i had my music on," she says and slips her headphones down from her ears, letting them hang around her neck and she leant over to pause the song she was listening to, "honestly, i thought you'd have gone home."

"why?"

he moves to stand behind her so he could take in her desk; paper all over the place, scribbles and spider-maps on all of her ideas, chewed pen lids and ripped up post-it notes that weren't that important to her thought pattern.

"because i've been stuck in here all night with work on the brain," she frowns and he shakes his head, "you can go home, if you wanted. i'm not much fun right now and i wouldn't blame you."

"it's okay. i actually like being at your place as opposed to mine," he shrugs with a smile and presses a kiss to the top of her head, burying his nose into her hair as he laid both his hands on her shoulders and gave them a gentle squeeze, "but you should take a break, lovie."

"i can't."

"of course you can," he says softly, digging his thumbs into the nape of her neck and giving her shoulders a soft massage, feeling how the tension building up in her muscles disappeared at his touch, "come on, at least come and have a little nap if you're planning on pulling an all-nighter."

"arthur-"

"or, at least let me help you relax," he drops his head and he whispers the words softly into her ear and she can't help but let her head drop back into a position that collided softly with the back of her chair, "i miss you."

"i can't," she grumbles softly and looks at the way his face twists up in a quick look of frustration that was soon masked with a look of upset, "i want to, i'd love to, but i need to get all this done by tomorrow and i'm so close to being finished."

his lips press against her forehead and she closes her eyes at the soft touch grazing her skin, hands coming up the rest upon his hands that were still resting upon her shoulders.

for the last few weeks, she had been busy with meeting after meeting with brand-deal after brand-deal, talking with companies who were interested in her being the face of their products. spain, france and amsterdam had been places she'd spent three or four nights in, as part of a gifted trip she'd been invited on, and london had definitely been somewhere she had been excited to get away from.

she felt guilty.

she had been to all these amazing places for such amazing deals and opportunities, with new friends she'd met on the way, but she hadn't spent time with arthur. she hadn't been with arthur. and it killed her not to celebrate her achievements with him in a way they normally would.

"i've been really horrid, haven't i?"

i'm currently working on a best friend george x boyfriend arthur fic, too so here's a little something from that one!

“Do you ever wonder what life would be like if we never met? If I never came out that day?” George wonders, “I think my life would be quite boring.”

“I think my life would be even more boring,” YN laughs softly, “you’d still have all of this. You’d still have the podcast, the Tiktok, the Youtube channel, because the charisma that you have would have brought you this kind of life, anyway. The only exciting thing about my life is the fact that you’re my best friend.”

“That’s rubbish,” he shakes his head and sets his mug down on the table, “I think, one way or another, we’d have still ended up in each other’s lives. Just, not as soon as it happened. We were bound to have met eventually, whether it was that day or not.”

The office door opening brings YN’s attention away from George and to the brunette standing in the doorway, wearing a shirt that was almost identical to her own, a nervous look on his face once he realised he’d interrupted something. George’s head turned to follow where her eyes were looking, hand coming up top to wave the other guy in, allowing him to come and join them.

“Arthur, this is YN.”

“Hi,” Arthur smiles sweetly, extending his arm and his hand in an opportunity to shake her hand. To which she gladly mirrored, extending her own arm towards him and wiggling her fingers, their palms connecting in a soft yet hearty shake, “George has told us all so much about you, already. It’s nice to put a face to the name.”

YN couldn’t lie… Arthur was cute.

The handsome-kind of cute with the chiselled jawline hidden beneath the faintest amount of facial hair, shaggy brown hair with a fringe that covered his forehead, lips so pink and soft with brown eyes that held a lot of depth and emotion and she found it hard to look him in the eyes as she said her hello’s yet she found it difficult to look away from him when she finally gained the courage to make eye contact. 

“I mean, you’re all over George’s Instagram so it’s nice to finally meet the guy who he seems to enjoy the company of. I’m not sure whether I should be jealous or not,” YN teases him softly and Arthur lets out a breathy laugh, shaking his head and looking to his feet, “I love your t-shirt, by the way. Considering we don’t know each other, we’re matching today.”

It took Arthur by surprise when she stood up and he saw, in full, the same Natural History Museum logo printed across her chest which matched the same one printed on his own chest, just on different coloured cotton. 

“I seem to attract nerds, don’t I?”

“Meet me in the bathroom.”

YN felt his warm breath wash over the skin of her neck, the smell of orange juice hanging in the air from the Sex On The Beach he had clasped in his hand with a soaked straw that had been chewed upon with each sip he sucked up, a shiver running down her spine as butterflies bounced around the inside of her stomach. His arm snaking around her waist to pull her closer so he didn’t have to shout or speak loudly over the music bumping in the air, her black flush to his front, her body tensing underneath his touch.

All night, the two of them couldn’t stay away from each other.

From the moment she had walked through the door to Simon Minter’s birthday party, later than the time she told them she would be there, he was attached to her side. The first one to say hello to her, the first one to greet her with a kiss on the cheek, the first one to offer her a seat in the booth and the first one to take her jacket and place it with his so it wouldn’t get lost. He sat beside her in the booth that himself, George, Chris and Arthur Hill had taken their place in for the night and he brought her her drinks throughout the evening, refusing to take one off of her when she offered to buy a round. He kept a close eye on her everytime she got up to dance with Talia or Faith, watching every movement she made when a song they loved came on because he didn’t want anything to happen to her, always weary of where she disappeared off to when he took his eyes off of her for a brief second… only to let out a sigh of relief when he saw her standing at the bar as she topped up her drink.

No one else existed in his world when she arrived. His conversation with George dwindled out when he watched her walk over to them, his attention moved from making Chris the butt of his jokes when she joined in the conversations, and his behaviour changed now that she was amongst the four of them. 

The sexual tension between the two of them almost suffocating.

“Now?”

He nods and drops his hand from where he had placed it upon her hip, slowly dragging it down her body and letting his fingers trail slowly down her thigh and just beneath the hem of her dress, and she felt her knees wanting to buckle under his soft touch.

Gwen's superhero identity, grief, and what her relationship with Miles means to her

GUESS WHO, ONCE AGAIN, WAS WRITING ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE, AND WROTE SO MUCH IT WARRANTED ITS OWN POST.

How I keep doing this I don't get it.

Regardless, this post will talk about Gwen using her hero identity instead of working on her emotional situation; and how she holds onto that identity until it makes her lose everything.

So, what is her situation at the beginning of the movie?

Pretty depressing.

Okay, I don't think it needs to be said how much losing Peter messed up Gwen. We don't really know the situation in full detail, however, we are aware that they had known each other for 12 years (As stated by George at the beginning of the movie during the interview,) and considering all the memories he has with the family, needless to say, Peter has been a part for most of Gwen's life.

No idea how was her situation before Peter's death, but I don't think is weird to believe she didn't have many friends besides Peter; maybe people she got along (like her bandmates,) were okay to hang out with, but Peter was the closest to her. Maybe this wouldn't be the case, if it wasn't for Spider-woman.

Here is the thing, did Gwen probably decide to put her distance after Peter's death? For sure, do I think Gwen probably leaned too much into the superhero lifestyle? Also yes.

I think the clue to that is in this part, where we see Gwen changing between her Spider-woman suit and her civilian self.

We could believe part of this is because of her grief, she learned more about her identity as a spider-woman, though I still think she may have focused a lot on it already.

I don't have a lot of proof, but I do have how her fear and her protectives of her hero cost her.

(And yes, I see Miles in the reflection, we will mention him later.)

Again, one image with many frames, because we need to make this quick.

All of this shows that Peter tries, in a way, to breach the gap between them. The only proof I have of this is 1) How Peter was getting pictures of Gwen as Spider-Woman, 2) How he was trying to defend her, believing in her despite what the police, news, and Gwen's dad say.

(Hey, is it just me, or do you think how Miles would end up drawing Gwen because he misses her, and Peter being afar from Gwen, taking pictures of both sides of her, just like Miles draws her both as Spider-Woman and her normal self?)

Guys, you don't want to know the number of times I cried during this scene of Gwen and Peter.

And is tragic on multiple levels, but something that really breaks me in this particular scene, is when Peter is calling her name, revealing how all of this was for how much he admires and looks up to her, and in his last moments, he tries to take out the mask, to see her face.

...And Gwen, in panic, trying to protect herself and her identity, refuses to let him take the mask. Meaning the last thing Peter saw, was the superhero version of Gwen, a version I don't doubt he admired and loved, but was a mask her best friend put to protect herself, and refused to let him see her for who she truly was one last time before he passed away.

I am not sure, what type of bond Peter and Gwen had, if they were crushing, just best friends, etc. For me, Peter at least had a crush on Gwen, and for Gwen well, what they were.

Because let me tell you something, what Peter and Gwen were was more than friendship, but doesn't necessarily need to be romantic; I think Gwen could have fallen for Peter, but for now he was him.

Why this is important? Because of all their history; Peter has known her since she was around 4 years (if we assume Gwen is 16 when George said they had known each other for 12 years, thought depending on the timeline Gwen maybe be 15 and know Peter since 3.) They had been close to each other for most of their lives, they had shared a table for what seemed almost daily, I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason they were close, was because Gwen lost her mom, and Peter lost his parents, and they became friends while living in the same building with George, Ben and May supporting each other with the kids.

(Yes, that last part is a headcanon, until we have proof of the contrary I will roll with that. Feel free to have your own.)

And then Gwen keeps the secret, she tries to act dumb in front of Peter, refusing to let him. She probably is used to defending Peter, and depending on the scenario this can be weighted on him in different ways (aka if Ben died or not, if Peter has seen how much Gwen risks her life and is worried about her, if wants to be strong to help other and stand at her side.)

So this hits even harder because of how much Peter matters to her, and she didn't realize that this was driving a gap between them, a gap Peter try to close by all the means necessary until he died.

This is not to say Gwen is to blame for Peter's death, FUCK NO. Peter risking something like this means some type of doubt or insecurity that is a lot heavier than just a girl, maybe we could talk about how the school system failed Peter by allowing the bullying to continue to happen (After all, Gwen shouldn't need to defend him, this shouldn't need to happen.) Even if this hurt Peter, Gwen cannot be responsible for his well-being, close or not, this shouldn't be her job.

However, do I think Gwen could feel guilty about it, for how this identity drove them to this point? OH YES.

She said so in Into the Spiderverse "I couldn't save my best friend Peter, and I don't do friends anymore." She isolated herself for this.

Except that hey, remember how Miles was the exception? Time to talk about Miles!

I find the wording here important, "before Miles, there was Peter." She is putting Miles at the same level as Peter.

Now, I don't think Gwen means she had a crush on Peter (to be honest, I am not sure if at this point Gwen admitted to herself what Miles meant for her, seriously half of what this girl does is related to hiding her feelings even from herself.) But the role they play in her life.

While Miles didn't know Gwen as much as Peter, I think we need to remember what Miles and those ideas in 1610 could have meant for her.

At this point, Gwen doesn't have any friends, is grieving, and her dad is looking to capture her, her life sucks basically.

Then she ends up traveling to another dimension, while not exactly fun for the most part (or painless.) She had the chance to lay low, reset from her current drama; heck she even got to meet Miles a bit before he was officially bitten, and met him just how he is, and at least find him funny.

And I think while short-lived, she being around Miles as spider-woman helped her, because Miles represents the bridge between those worlds.

She met him when he was starting, and while she has been doing this for 2 years, that means she has been painfully enduring this alone for 2 years.

Miles is someone her age, someone who enjoys being around even if it isn't about being spiders, and also understands the pains of being a hero and the pressure that is on your shoulders, as well as the excitement and the desire to do the right thing.

Peter was a big part of her life, but Miles represents all of her being seen, for someone who likes her for who she is, and who she can be honest with.

For the most part.

Because she still clings to the mantle.

Look, feel free to call me crazy, but I believe this part, is sadly, related to this.

I just established how Gwen had put her identity as spider-woman over other people, including those close to her and those who could have been close to her, allowing Miles as an exception basically because they are both spiders, and being a big reason why Miles is important to her.

One way or another, this cost her, and what she does do when she loses someone? Concentrating on being a Spider-woman, of course!

While I don't doubt Gwen is genuinely excited about being part of the organization, something that I can't stop thinking about is how no Jessica Drew, Peter B, Hobie, or anyone in the organization, could feel the gap Gwen felt. The gap that drove her to spend an afternoon with Miles despite what was at stake.

And Jess's being Gwen's mentor is something that is the reason this post keep coming, (because George's parent skills, Gwen clinging to being a hero, are all connected to that.)

Ultimately, it doesn't matter how much she clings to being a Spider-Woman, it can't replace a bond with someone.

Also, as @ficsinhistory said in a reply to one of my post, you are right! Gwen is definitely Captain Stacy's daughter.

Because while he clings to being a cop, not just as a job, but also as his way of life and moral compass (Which gets in the way of his connection with his daughter,) Gwen also clings to being a hero, instead of dealing with her grief and her fears. She probably did the same because well that's what she learned from him right?

Hey does this mean generational traum- I'll See Myself Out.

This, is the face Gwen makes while Miguel tells Miles he needs to let Jeff die.

A lot of people wonder why so many spiders are doing this, and while that's another massive post I am working on (more investigation, why? Because why I would make things easy for myself.) Let's give the clip notes version here.

The surprise is not that Gwen is going along, is how absolutely heartwrenching is to see this when you put in context everything.

You see, for a while, Gwen cling to being spider-woman because it was a way to avoid her grief, now? She doesn't have anything.

While she puts emphasis on her hero work, let's remember what is probably going on in her universe: Gwen is supposed to be a student, to be in a band, to be a regular teen. Being Gwen Stacy is what she has known most of her life, and what should be her main focus, and now everything she ever knows? As far as she is aware, she lost it, she can't have her life back without risking having her own dad send her to jail.

I cannot call Gwen homeless because she has the organization, but that's not much better. Remember how she believes if she fucks this up, she could get sent back home, meaning going to prison and having her dad try to persecute her?

Forget she using this to not deal with her trauma, she was forced to pick up this life because it was this or still lose everything, but everyone may hate her.

The question is now why Gwen did it, is how anyone can see this situation, and can the question ethical when Gwen is having her risk her life, and not in the life and death kind of way, but the type that is the reason life is worth it.

And she clings to this until the bitter end, until-

She got her own band.

We don't know, what will happen in the third movie; but I don't think would be crazy to believe they would try to keep in contact if that's possible.

Here is the thing, regardless of any previous friendship Gwen had with any of them, the fact is this: Gwen said it herself, she is mostly a solo act, and even with thousands of spiders, she can't bring herself to be vulnerable and open up from the most part. Not having people wasn't the problem anymore, was her being unsure to do the first step.

And she has this band, because she wants to save Miles, because regardless of any mistakes she may had done, he is worth the risk, he is worth fighting for, and if she needs to get help to do right by him, so be it.

So who knows, perhaps Gwen gets to stick with this band, all because she decided to think less about what is the right thing to do and to fight for the people who are worth fighting for.

Because Miles became that first friend after Peter, she had the chance to open up and make more, as well as recover those she thought she lost (like her dad.)

Wouldn't that be a beautiful way to end her arc?

On this day, bday of the Spider George post (and no one else), I hope this count as being nice to you, I'd like to thank you for two things!

First, for introducing me to Valérie Perrin. I finally read "Changer l'eau des fleurs" the other day and it was absolutely lovely (i cried a *lot* it was great). (I seem to remember you have read other works from her, which one is your favorite?)

Second, for always putting great dramas on my dash that then threaten (and sometimes straight up obliterate) (had to double check that one, obliterate, somehow it does not feel lile a real word) my sleep schedule. A few years ago you got me good with Nirvana in Fire - which I still think about nearly 4 years later!!!, and now look at this, you did it again 😔

Here I am, starting the second season of Joy of Life when 1) I should really go to bed and 2) after the season 1 cliffhanger I don't know if I'll survive the end of season 2 now that I know that there is a 3rd one planned. And yet, I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, I'd like you to know you hyped Duoduo so good that when she finally appeared I wooped as if a star athlete had just stepped onto the field.

So yeah! Thank you for being insightful and funny when you share the things you like, allowing me to discover so many wonderful things to enjoy!

so glad you liked changer l'eau des fleurs! i cried so hard dude it was bonkers. my favorite of hers is les oubliés du dimanche which, si je ne dis pas de bêtise, is her first novel. i recently read trois and didn't like it as much (way too long for one thing...being long isn't bad unless i get bored and i got bored. lol). she just came out with tata which i haven't read yet because it is currently in the mail so i will have to get back to you with my reaction!!

omg i got you good. joy of life is evil because i told myself i was never gonna watch it and then i watched it and now it's all i can think about. glad i could pull you down into the abyss with me. and indoctrinate you into loving haitang duoduo before you even met her!! that's the power of the saintess. can't wait for you to finish season 2 so we can scream about it together!

Fandom Events in 2024

Gortash Week July 2024 - what an absolute blast this was. So much good stuff that week! Excellent fics! Amazing art! Great edits! Good good friends! I had so much fun with this week AND managed to post my first three entries while undergoing a monstrous day of travel from Alaska to Vancouver to Brisbane and then home.

Gortoween 2024 - My plans for fic didn't pan out BUT I did post one of my first ever big art projects, reimagining Gortash and my Durge Kassara in the movie Constantine

BG3 Villianmas - Another event where I tried my hand at art instead of writing! I threw together four pieces in total for the Villain Christmas prompts, and to the surprise of nobody it was all Gortash art

BG3 Winter Big Bang - This one is in progress, but I signed up last year and I had my first check in a few weeks ago. I'm being overly ambitious and attempting fic AND art, we'll see how much that shoots me in the foot haha

Writing Reflection

I rediscovered myself this last year thanks to BG3. I really do feel like I was in a creative coma for four years which, valid, life has been incredibly traumatic as a health care worker since 2020 for obvious reasons. And not just writing but learning how to be an artist as well!

It's not just that I rediscovered HOW to write again and found my motivation, but I fell in love with the act of being creativity and the joy of writing, and more than that, I fell in love with fandom as a community again. Making new friends, being brave enough to message people. Persevering with posting even when it felt like I was talking to the void in the early days (we've all talked a lot about how fandom has changed so I won't rehash it here) and trying to help shut that void up for other people.

I'd like to have time to read more fics in 2025, and continue to engage in community. It's been incredibly invigorating taking part in events again, I haven't done it in over a decade and I'm just so delighted by it

I want to do the Friday Reviews thing that I reblogged earlier, and uplift more writers. I want to do more art, learn how to do actual lineart instead of painting everything because it takes so fucking long. And I hope to bring a little bit of joy and excitement to others that the last year has brought to me

So, one of my Many hobbies is letterboxing (geocaching but with homemade rubber stamps). I love going out to the nearby parks and finding people's art hidden away in stumps and under bridges - it's also a great way to get some much needed fresh air an exercise. (If you're interested I recommend going to atlasquest.com, they have all the info you could ever want there.)

However. I am an overachiever. And chronically online.

So I carved twelve stamps to make a walking loop. Why twelve? One for each month, of course!

Now, I've seen a holiday stamp series before. August: Clown Week! November: Thanksgiving! December: Christmas! But I thought hey. What if I made. Tumblr holidays instead?

Listed below are some Spiderverse hot takes/controversial opinions I have that'd id like to ramble about

I wish Gwen and Pavitr were overweight. Like midsized. I'm very happy we got a heavier *young* girl on the team with Margo at least, but I'd like there to be a heavy *young* guy. I noticed that Pav is certainly not as petite as Miles is, but that's more of a flex for how skinny Miles is, it's not really saying that Pavitr is chubby. And Gwen, idk I always just draw her as heavier. It just suits her better and again we need more mainstream skinny x fat/overweight ships. I've never drawn Pav yet but if I happen to I'm drawing him heavier too. 

I don't think Miles and Gwen were about to kiss before Rio interrupted them at the water tower. Everyone thinks this was what the scene was trying to implybutI don't think that's what would've happened at all. The camera was zooming in and the two of them were getting dangerously close to each other, they were definitely going to get more intimate, Miles was definitely looking at her lips and thinking of sssssomething, but they were not gonna KISS. They would've gotten real close and quiet, maybe held hands, then realize what they're doing and then break apart all awkward and embarrassed. And like, it's not just that i don't think the scene leading up to a kiss, I don't want that to have been the case. It's shallow, these two were SO not there yet. Gwen was not even fully in love with Miles yet. "But they're teenagers that's just normal teen friskyness, man 🤷‍♂️" Yeah I know, I've watched teen romcoms. We don't need to apply all the cliches to Ghostflower. 

Not a huge fan of whenever people write Miles and Miguel becoming like a sweet, surrogate son and father dynamic post-BTSV. If you want your found family tropes and you wanna give Miles a secondary daddy besides. his actual daddy, Peter B is right there 🤷‍♂️. Yeah I know ATSV wrecked their relationship but idk I personally headcanoned a whole mini arc for them to reconcile in my mind that I love, it's easy. Just play with the potential drama that's already sitting there. 

Ok so. This is more of a complaint against like, the original conception of the character, obviously there's nothing the movies could do about it. But. I don't like the name Miles very much. Idk i...do y'all ever love a fictional character and then like, pay close attention to their name, and go "hey uh, I actually don't think that name suits the character." Naming a character is like a whole process for me, I take character names very seriously. The name "Miles" just sounds too...unsentimental. Like they (Miles' original creators) wanted to name him something cool and hip. I just. Idk! I feel like he should've been named something else. Certainly nothing generic, but something more personal or meaningful, at least cute! I mean like at this point I'm used to the name and it's like, whatever, doesn't change anything for me. But still it's just a gripe I have. Idk does anybody feel this way. I'm genuinely curious. 

I am saying both this as a Hispanic and someone who likes Miguel O'Hara that I never found the ATSV script describing Miguel as animalistic or beast-like to be offensive. The guy was running on all fours and had talons and was trying to bite people. Because he's part vampire. They were literally just describing his actions as they appeared in the movie. He was literally behaving feral, he's not full human. He's a spider man. Now onto George. Now I hate when a white man's actions are sugar coated to appear less severe than when the same actions are committed by a person of color, I really hate it. But the script isn't gonna use "animalistic" vocabulary to describe George pointing a gun at his daughter. It's pig-headed, certainly. But like, George can't run up walls with claws or smash through metal, he's just an awful guy with a gun. It requires different vocabulary than "feral." this is all like, just sort of circumstantial. 

Bro imma be real. Ay. Aaaahhhhhhhghh, esto si lo odio. I'm sorry. I hate it when people write Miles and Gwen to be Mayday's godparents/uncle and aunt. I've seen people do this. I've read BTSV prediction fics that write in this moment where Peter B will...declare Miles and Gwen--PRESENT DAY Miles and Gwen, as in. 15-16 yr old Miles and Gwen--as Mayday's godparents. ????????? Peter, Miles and Gwen are young enough to be Mayday's siblings??? You think of Miles like your son (oh and you SUCK as a self-appointed dad btw sorry not sorry). Idk it's just silly to me. Like why do you as a middle aged man give legal guardianship over your daughter to two high schoolers if you die. I don't. What even are you, Peter. lol

The character "acting"--aka the way the characters' facial expressions and body language are animated--in ATSV is worse than it was in ITSV. I noticed this before, but it becomes so much more obvious when I watch the two movies back to back. It really stinks because I just KNOW this is a direct result of the crunch the crew went through. You cut corners when you crunch. Things get overlooked when there's no time. You don't have time to polish. It's the one obvious way that the poor working conditions during production actually shows. I mean, the character acting in the first movie was amazing.  That part when Miles is being choked by the Prowler. The part when he removed his mask, when Aaron turns off the thermal sensor vision in his cowl to actually look at his nephew and you see Miles just broken. His eyes already start welling up with tears and his lip quiver. Man and that's just one example. ATSV's character acting...it's good! Overall. It has its moments when the expressions are amazing, certainly, just as good as the first movie. But they're fewer. The Right to Remain Silent scene, the scene where Miles has the vision at the Spider Society, that little moment where Miles smirks at Gwen out the window, all two times Gwen smiles, all of Hobie's body language, that face Gwen makes when Rio warns her not to break Miles' heart, Gwen's speech to her dad when she returns to her universe, there's a lot of great ones. But then...there's like, a lot of frames where characters look weird. Have you seen how many times a character looks off??? Like if a character's face is just a little far away the model looks weird. Like look at this shot--look at Gwen.

In the actual scene, she says "Peter?", but why is she so...unanimated??? It's like, she's moving, yeah. Her mouth moved. She blinked. But it's so minimal. Her animation is not conveying enough emotion. Honestly, the weaker character acting is another one of the big reasons I really hope they're not crunching Beyond the Spiderverse. That movie should be ALL the feels, and I want characters to be emoting properly and fully, and for the animators to have the TIME to do that ETHICALLY. You see what happens when they ARENT provided with that LUXURY.

Day 3 - Cuddles

this lil group was requested by @elliot-tword (find the ask here)! this is actually inspired by an ask that actually was sent by elliot (here) and a concept post I made a while back (here), just with our lil dreamie as the lee this time <3 thank you so much elliot for the request! I hope u all enjoy :3

“Are you sure it was okay?” Dream asked quietly, his eyes glassy and unfocused as he picked at the loose threads protruding from the couch in the living room, sat in the middle of his two best friends. George and Sapnap exchanged nervous glances, both looking worried as they crowded closer to Dream. 

“What do you mean? Of course it was okay.” Sapnap pressed the right side of his body against Dreams, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and leaning back against Dream’s own left arm. George followed on the opposite side, chiming in himself. 

“It was more than okay, Dream. It was incredible.” 

“I feel like I looked awkward in all the clips I’ve seen…” Dream trailed off, adjusting himself and allowing his body to relax back into the couch and against the other two, letting his head lull to the side until it rested against Sapnap’s shoulder. George let his arm rest over Sapnap’s behind Dream’s head, rubbing at Sapnap’s shoulder before running his hand through Dream’s messy curls. 

“It’s gonna look like that to you, it was your first show! Your first time performing! No one is expecting you to be perfect, baby.” George spoke gently, watching fondly as Dream let his head fall back further as he leaned into George’s hand. The blonde let out a deep sigh, closing his eyes and sliding deeper down into the couch. 

“Yeah I guess you’re right. I just don’t wanna look stupid, you know?” Dream replied after a few seconds, earning nods from both of his friends. Sapnap used his free hand to reach across his own body, letting the back of his hand rub gently over Dream’s cheek, his thumb rubbing the softer spot under his eye. He flinched at the sudden contact, a tiny squeak escaping him before relaxing back into the touch. 

George flashed Sapnap a smirk, making the youngest boy tilt his head slightly in confusion, but keeping his mouth shut as his curiosity got the best of him. George held up the hand that wasn’t currently buried in Dream’s hair and wiggled his fingers, holding back a giggle as Sapnap’s eyes widened. 

“You didn’t look stupid, Dream,” George began, trying to hide the smile that was evident in his voice. “You might look stupid now, though.” 

“Wh- George! Nohoho no! Don’t!” Dream’s question was interrupted when two hands suddenly appeared on his sides, squeezing up and down his ribcage and going down towards his hips. He squealed frantically, trying to pull his arms out from behind George and Sapnap to protect himself but finding them both stuck. 

“You’re right, George. He does look stupid,” Sapnap commented, spidering his hand up Dream’s side before wiggling his fingers over the poor boy’s tummy. “Stupidly cute.” 

“Oh shuhut up!” Dream complained, throwing his head to the side and hiding in the curve of Sapnap’s neck. They giggled along with him, loving the way that Dream was stuck in place, in the middle of their cuddle pile. 

“Shut up? He complimented you, Dream. That’s not very nice of you.” George followed suit, gently fluttering his fingers over Dream’s very sensitive lower tummy, making him buck his hips up with another squeal. 

“Nohoho please! Please I’m- Sahahpnap I’m sorry! Please!” Dream pleaded, giving Sapnap the biggest puppy eyes through his laughter. Sapnap could see the tears beginning to form at the sides of his eyes despite the tickles being soft, letting him know that he was a little bit further gone than both boys initially thought. 

Sapnap slowed his hand to a stop, gripping George’s and pulling it away to allow Dream some air to breathe. He cuddled into Dream, bringing a hand up to cradle the blonde’s head against his chest, Dream’s arms still trapped behind the two. George rolled his eyes at how easily Sapnap caved but again followed his actions, leaning against Dream and wrapping an arm around his neck, placing a soft kiss against his temple. 

“You know we love you so much, right? And we’re so proud of you, Dreamie.” Sapnap whispered, smiling and leaning his head against the top of Dream’s when he felt the blonde nod, along with a tiny hum of agreement. 

“Good. ‘Cause it’s true.” George spoke up, cuddling the two closer and letting his eyes closed, the calm atmosphere making him sleepy. 

“...You don’t have to stop, you know. If you don’t want to.” Dream commented after a while, staying hidden against Sapnap, embarrassed at what he was suggesting. George lifted his head and shot Sapnap a smirk, both boys immediately acting on his shy request. Sapnap let his hand gently flutter against the side of Dream’s neck while George let his fingers explore around his tummy, careful to not use too much pressure to keep him sleepy and relaxed.

The trio cuddled together like that for the rest of the night, with George and Sapnap gently praising Dream here and there through his giggles, letting him know how much they adore him. Eventually, they fell asleep together in the comfiest cuddle pile, wrapped up in the coziest blankets, with the cutest little smiles on their faces.
