there’s been a rise of “was silco a bad dad” discourse on tiktok and i’ve seen too much of it against my will but by far the craziest thing i saw was someone saying one of silcos faults with jinx was “pumping her full of shimmer” op purposely left out the context of why he did that and when someone in the comments was like hey she was literally dying! op said silco should’ve… just let her die. there’s so much to unpack here

the wording “pumping her full of shimmer” is purposefully done to frame his action as worse. we see how silco treats people with shimmer. he dangles it in front of them, taunting them, before throwing it to them like he’s giving a dog a treat. he can watch the effects the drug has on them like it’s nothing. with jinx he carried her in his arms, gave her a lil kiss on the forehead, and had to be knocked out before her procedure began because he wouldn’t have been able to handle seeing jinx go through it. he wasn’t feeding jinx shimmer her whole life, it was a desperate last resort he went to in order to save her life.

saying he should’ve just let her die is. fucking WILD. if he let her die they’d hate him for that too! if you hate this character just hate them as is! you don’t need to make his misdeeds even more awful he’s done enough for you to reasonably dislike him. whether you like it or not, silco was her father. jinx was his daughter. whatever view you have on silco, those two facts will always be true. of course he’d do literally anything to keep her alive. if vander did this, would you have the same reaction? would you say vander should’ve just let his daughter die? or would you call it sweet and say he was so caring and such a good father for saving his child’s life?

again you can hate silco but hate with reason. he’s a complex character in the terms that he is a complicated man in the universe. he’s not complex in the way that it’s hard to understand his actions. it’s actually really easy to figure out his motives, especially for something so clear as his daughters life literally being on the line. people are purposefully being ignorant of his nuances to feel justified in disliking him and im so fucking tired!!!!

also the race switching of the clones and jango continues to make me unbelievably mad.

When I’m telling you I see every race/ethnicity but Tem’s… I dont even care if its a hc at this point bc you wouldn’t hc black characters or asian characters to be ANYTHING BUT WHAT THEY ARE.

I just got to the whole Fogbound Lake part of the story where Team Skull is about to gang up on you and your partner and like. Idk if this is a common headcanon or just smth I’ve personally believed for years but. When Wigglytuff comes charging out of the woods chasing his Perfect Apple at the EXACT moment Team Skull was about to attack you…that cannot be a coincidence. I bet you he was probably standing by the entire time, probably even before Team Skull came out of hiding, watching his apprentices solve the mystery of the Groudon Statue…and then when Team Skull revealed what absolute assholes they were, and even hinted at what took place in Apple Woods…he was probably like oh NO they don’t. Not MY apprentices. Not MY guild. So he chose to come running in at that exact moment. And played the oblivious buffoon card right up until the very end, and promptly served Team Skull’s asses to them on a platter.

I mean we get lots of little hints within the game (especially his special episode) that Wigglytuff is way smarter and way more resourceful than he lets on. I just love the idea of him jumping in to protect his apprentices and thrashing Team Skull to hell for not only being bullies but also for lying to the guild? And playing Chatot for a fool? NOT gonna stand. Nothing but respect for MY Guildmaster

This one specifically I can never get over just. The atmosphere is so. It's the tenderness of it all. The way Eichi holds him the way Wataru is fully trusting Eichi to not lose him and keep him steady the way Eichi Looks at him the way they are fully in their own little world right now the way they are just having fun before the big show just. The tenderness and strangely intimate warmness of it all gets to me.

Relation: Raised Polaris, though they're not related by blood and have a somewhat distant relationship, until he suddenly went MIA

Weapon: Spear (Same as Polaris's)

Name origin: A moon of Jupiter, named for the mythological spirit of necessity, inevitably, and compulsion

Relation: Bella's mother, she raised her to be a warrior

Weapon: Bardiche

Ethos (Power): Indomination (The ability to freeze the movement of objects and people, and lock them in place)

Flaw power is based on: Her strict enforcement of obedience through authoritarianism, and a lack of concern for the wishes of others

Notes: She believes in tough love. It's better in the long run to give your kid strength rather than affection.

Name: Rhea

Name origin: A moon of Saturn named after the Titan known as the mother of the gods

Pronouns: She/her

Age: 38

Relation: Saiph's mother, though she gave him up to the guild when he was very young

Weapon: None

Ethos (Power): None

Flaw power is based on: N/A

Notes: Was unable to take care of a baby at the time, and gave Saiph to the guild. She wishes she'd visited beyond that but it's probably too late now...

Name: Arche

Name origin: One of Jupiter's moons, it's name comes from the muse of new beginnings and is associated with springtime

Pronouns: He/him

Age: 7

Relation: Saiph's half-brother. Neither currently knows the other exists

Weapon: None

Notes: He's just a little guy. He likes flowers and playing with toys. He wants to be a cool hero like his dad

Name origin: A star in Tucana, the Maori word for a black pearl of mystical beauty and perfection

Relation: Al's mom. She mostly raised him on her own while her husband was with the knights.

May I introduce you to a beautiful concept known as sleep deprivation ? Man's only gotten poor quality sleep (if any at all) for weeks for all we know. Mood swings and paranoia are bound to go hand in hand with that one. Logical thinking ? Nope. Not happening. You add the fucking hallucinations further messing up his mind to the mix and you get exactly what we see.

Have to routinely stop myself from bashing myself for making characters certain races and genders bc “what if this is insanely offensive to some people?” by asking one very simple question:

Do people like this actively exist?

If the answer is yes, then maybe I can stop feeling bad about giving my beautiful, disabled, black, baby boy dnd character a love of the colour pink.

Ya know, bc art is all about translation, and people are gonna people regardless of if some random asshole on the internet decides their existence is problematic.
