I’m gonna go on a little bit of a rant here,

I absolutely love Shane from Stardew Valley. I play Stardew valley all the time and every time I marry a bachelor, it’s Shane. EVERY TIME. Everyone thinks I’m weird for this but like dude. Dude he’s so cute and funny and shsjsjsjjsja I’m in love. Here are some reasons why.

He’s got a job, unlike most of the other bachelors, meaning he makes money. And based on what he can afford after he stops drinking, he makes a pretty good amount of money.

he has depression but is eventually willing to work on it and work through it to better himself for the sake of those he loves. As you talk to Shane and build up hearts, he opens up his eyes and then starts to work on himself for the better.

He cares about his aunt Marnie and Jas. He’s so sweet to them and helps out when he can. And have you seen his cutscene with his chickens? AND CHARLIE? GAH! I love them.

Out of all the bachelors, I think he has the most interesting storyline and the most interactive one. When you first meet him he seems hopeless. He’s depressed and lonely and not very talkative. But as you get to know him he becomes much nicer. He’s funny and dorky and friendly, and shows dedication and progress.

Have you seen some of his dialog? It’s so CUTE!? Especially when you’re married to him! And when he’s in his wedding outfit? And his flower dance outfit? He’s so precious.

Imagine you live in pelican town. The new farmer has been here a couple weeks now and seems to be settling in, except... He's picking the weirdest friend choices. Like sure it's not weird to befriend the local fisherman, especially when he has an interest in fishing himself, but you're pretty sure you've seen him rooting through the Saloon's garbage with the local homeless man. As well, he keeps harassing the poor guy who works at Joja even though you KNOW he doesn't want to be friends with him.

And since you're on the topic of weirdness, isn't it odd he seemingly runs everywhere at a full sprint? Or just... Eats entire raw fish while fishing for "energy reasons"...

...

Despite all that, it's too early to call him off putting or anything... He has been engaging in town traditions, and he's started helping out with the old community centre. He's probably like the rest of you. Someone with a few quirks, that will fit in with the valley great!

Surely he can't get any weirder... Right?

Hello! It is I, someone who is not a Shane enjoyer. (Not because I hate the guy or think he's awful or whatever, I'm just Sensitive and don't like when people are mean to me lmao) But! I wanted to ask you, as someone who likes Shane and has gone through all his stuff in-game that I haven't, what are some of your favourite things about him? I just see you post about him a lot and it's really interesting to me to learn about characters from the perspective of people who enjoy them, even if the characters aren't for me! Headcanon: Harvey and Emily kind of fuss over Shane and his wellbeing, and he pretends to hate it but he's secretly very grateful for their friendship and sometimes feels like they (and the farmer lol) are the only people who didn't give up on him. Emily in particular likes to make dark jokes about his situation and she's the only one who gets the pass for it from Shane.
