House of Gentians update postponed 😢

Hey guys, I am very sick and therefore have no choice but to postpone this week's update. I am very sorry 🙏

My fever got really high yesterday, 40.0°c/104°F. The only thing I am capable of doing is nursing baby, which is an additional barrier to my recovery, since he's taking fluids and antidotes from my body. I have to drink much much more, but sometimes it makes me nauseous 🤢

Anyways, hope I will recover ASAP

CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF OF YOU.

Yandere!Saiki does a few concerning things regarding you.

A/N: ‘Yare yare' means Saikis or readers thoughts.

It took him a little while to come to terms with the fact that he was in love with you, but the moment he did it was like a switch turned on in his brain.

He couldn’t get you out of his mind; he’d do anything to make you happy.

The small meow of a cat catches your attention amidst the loud pitter and patter of the rain. “Meow!”

Halting in your steps to turn around, you peer into an alleyway, and there sits a white cat with green glasses— how is that even possible?— drenched in rain, looking up at you.

“Meow!” It says again, as if it was talking to you.

“Aww!” Crouching down, you place your umbrella in between your neck and shoulder to take hold of him.

Surprisingly, he does nothing to make you put him down, usually when you pick up strays they do everything in their will to make you let go of them.

“Aren’t you a cute one?” You ask the cat— in that stupid little voice that parents use on their babies, and it just looks at you; a smile finds its place on your face.

You forget just how easily animals can make you lose any unpleasant feelings, earlier you were just upset about the bakery not having your favorite in stock and now you’re smiling wide, holding a cat.

Already making up your mind to take it home— just to give it shelter until the rain stops— you stand up. “It must be so hard to be out in the rain like this!”

‘You’re just too good to be true.’ He thought to himself.

“Class, we’ll be having a quiz this week on friday, be prepared—“ Everything after that you tuned out, too busy thinking about the stacking list of things to do.

‘She really does know no bounds!’ You groaned internally, ‘It’s one thing after another with her!’

With a sigh you sit a little bit straighter in your chair, trying to at least look like you were listening.

The world has it out for you, you think, because not only is your schedule getting tighter, you also recently started feeling uneasy and uncomfortable in your classroom.

You swear, someone is looking at you! You try to tell your friends but they laugh it off saying that you’re going paranoid because of stress and usually you’d laugh with them too!

“No, you guys don’t get it!” You defend yourself, shaking your head profusely, “It’s like every time I step inside that classroom a pair of eyes just lock on me!”

But this just feels too real to be just a figment of your imagination.

Unbeknownst to you on the other side of your classroom lies a pair of pale purple eyes solely focused on you. ‘Can’t take my eyes off of you.’

The next day, you get the good news of your teacher canceling the quiz and her other activities— delivered by a substitute teacher, your actual teacher got sick.

I got sick and tired of my usual, monotonous theme so i thought i’d change it up.

episode desc - come and take a seat with us at our round table! todays episode is a little different because while talking we built a lego set that jake got! while building we covered perfect pitch, icks in relationships, and scenarios we got sent by you guys on twitter. so please stay for a while with us and get comfortable, hope you enjoyed your meeting with us at the round table! 

*all four boys are seating at a round table, jake is opening a lego box to get out the packets and instructions. heeseung adjusts the camera. the setting of the room is a lot more casual, there’s polaroids on the wall of them and their friends. the chairs they sit in aren’t normal outdoor chairs but rather look much more comfortable. each mic has something correlating to them. jake has iron man, heeseung has a controller, jay has a tiny chef hat and sunghoon has a penguin. heeseung takes a seat and claps his hands together. from left to right the order they’re sitting in goes jake, jay, sunghoon, heeseung.*

heeseung: okay the camera is good 

jay: what was going on with it? 

heeseung: it kept focusing in and out very weirdly, also i think it was dying so i had to change the battery. *he adjusts his mic so it picks up the sound better*

*sunghoon shuts off his phone and sits up, adjusting his mic and looking to the camera* 

sunghoon: guys i am not an alpha male, i like chappell roan and other non alpha male things and i love lauryn hill 

jake: so convincing *he scoffs-half laugh.* 

sunghoon: no im serious, i gave the album a listen and i loved it so much 

jay: told you 

heeseung: what are we building by the way. *he sits up a little taller to try and see the box. 

jake: i’m not telling you! it’s gonna be a surpriseee *sing-song voice* 

jay: i don’t know if you guys know or not but sunghoon and jake were actually late today 

sunghoon: yeah! getting snacks for you and heeseung! 

heeseung: i’m not gonna get on to them they actually brought us food. 

jay: oh but last time i was late you cut from my paycheck 

jake: bring food next time loser 

*jay flicks jake’s forehead making him groan loudly* 

jay: i’m mistreated guys im taking new friend applications 

heeseung: oh like jake’s girlfriend application? 

*the group laughs, jake looks the camera in all seriousness*

*sunghoon heeseung and jay stop laughing in an attempt to calm themselves down* 

heeseung: before we sign in we should recap our weekend right? 

*jay nods, taking a sip of his water and sitting up straighter. jake moves the pile of lego bags in the middle along with the instruction booklets.* 

sunghoon: well mine was chill, ask those two schmucks though. *he points to jay and jake who smile at one another knowing what they did this weekend* 

jake: okay well we went to a music festival and it was so sick. 

jay: no yeah it was so fun, we were at the barricades too! 

*heeseung widens his eyes, intently listening* 

heeseung: barricades?! who was performing. 

jay: it was a lot of underground artists but live music is like always good. it kinda sucked though because we were with yeonjun and his friends and i knew jake was gonna be drunk so i had to drive back home. 

*jake laughs, jay glaring at him.* 

jake: yeah but you had fun, flirted around too didn’t ya. *he playfully hits jays shoulder, making his ears turn red* 

heeseung & sunghoon: OOOOO *sing-song voice* 

jay: barely, BARELY. this girl liked my outfit and we talked for a bit 

jake: ‘a bit’ more like all night. 

heeseung: oooo 1, 2, 3, 4 that guy has rizz galoreeee! 

*once he says that the boys stop what they’re doing to stare at him, jake side eyes sunghoon and all three of them begin laughing at heeseung.*

heeseung: *laughs embarrassingly* i don’t know i saw it on my tiktok, i just wanted to try it 

jay: for those of you who say that heeseung gets hoes he in fact does not *still laughing*

jake: oh yeah! *he pulls out his phone to see his layout of todays episode* okay first off, what do you guys think your icks are in relationships. or talking stage or anything really. 

jay: this is a hot take but just being overly rude.

jay: i think it’s kind of annoying but also just mean. like i understand the occasional joking manner but being mean to people unprompted is so weird. 

sunghoon: i agree, i think it really displays what kind of person you are. like why are you being mean to people you’ve never even met. let alone don’t even know. 

heeseung: i feel like it depends on the situation you know. could be one of those things where she seems rude but in reality she’s not. 

jay: i guess so, but i still just find it weird. i understand being closed off with your emotions but i think just being rude without any reasoning is just mean. 

jake: i understand that. personally an ick for me is someone who has a big ego not in like a funny way but in a way they always have to one up you. it’s like the relationship is a competition almost 

sunghoon: mmm see ive met some people like that, i do feel like there’s some underlying trauma that makes them do that you know. *sunghoon opens the bag of snacks in front of him and takes a chip out, angling the bag towards the others and they dig in.* 

jay: i think what jake is trying to say is that they’re just really full of themselves. like they think they can do any wrong 

sunghoon: that’s just a shitty person to be around.

"Where are you going?" Rosita asks, watching you put your belt on. "Maggie's been begging me to help her fix our crops," you reply, adjusting the buckle. "It's like she doesn't understand she left Hilltop to relax and get away from work."

Rosita chuckles, shaking her head. "Well, you've always been the reliable one when it comes to lending a hand. Just make sure you don't overexert yourself, we don't want you burning out like last time."

She gives you a knowing look, remembering the time you pushed yourself too hard and ended up sick for a week.

You hold up your hands in surrender, "Of course, my love." You reassure Rosita, kissing her on the forehead. "I'll be back home in an hour."

Although an hour and a half passes, you're not home. Rosita decides to leave the house and check up on you and Maggie, with water in her hand, worried about your well-being.

She hopes that you haven't overexert yourself again and that everything is okay.

Only to find you both laughing and enjoying each other's company. Rosita can't help but feel a pang of jealousy, wondering if you prioritize Maggie's company over hers.

Maggie squeezes your bicep, and you lift up your shirt, revealing your toned abs and jokingly flexing.

Rosita's jealousy raises as she watching the stupid smile on your face due to Maggie's reaction. She tries her best to hide her emotions, but deep down, she feels betrayed and insecure.

She wonders if there is something more than just friendship between you and Maggie, like lingering feelings that have yet to be explored.

Rosita walks up to you, and Maggie walks away to grab a nearby bucket. "Hey, love." You smile, wrapping your arm around Rosita's waist. "What's on your mind?"

Rosita hesitates for a moment but then takes a deep breath before speaking up. "I didn't know showing off your body was part of fixing crops."

She glances over at Maggie, who is now bending over to pick up the bucket to fill it with water. "It just seems like you're more interested in impressing her than actually helping out."

Your eyebrows furrow, and you release your grip on Rosita's waist. "I...I..." You let out a chuckle, a bit surprised by Rosita's comment, and lost for words.

Rosita rolls her eyes, slapping the water bottle against your chest. "Just forget it."

You take a step back, watching your girlfriend walk away with a slight frown on your face.

Hours pass, and Rosita is awoken by the bathroom door creaking open. She groggily sits up in bed, seeing you get dressed in your boxers and sports bra in the dimly lit room.

You crawl toward her, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. As much as she tries to fight it, she can't help but melt into your touch.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to upset you," you whisper softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Can I make it up to you?"

Rosita looks into your eyes, her frown slowly fading away. You place a kiss on her lips, feeling her reciprocate it with a soft sigh. Without breaking the kiss, you push away the covers, resting between her legs and deepening the kiss with a small groan.

Your hands explore every inch of her body, tracing the curves and contours that you have come to know so well. The curves that you love due to the fact they mold perfectly in your palms.

Rosita had a habit of just wearing one of your oversized t-shirts to bed, and tonight was no exception. You lift up your shirt, revealing her bare skin underneath, causing a shiver of anticipation to run through both of you.

The cool air kisses her exposed flesh, heightening the sensations of hands and their exploration.

Parting your lips from the kiss, you lean in to whisper in her ear, "You look absolutely irresistible in my shirt."

Elara had a surgery back in December to correct issues from being spayed, another surgery less than 6 months later was very unprecedented, especially because she’s on medication for seizures and they helped her a lot. A little hesitant on this one.

So, realistically,these two would probably hate each other. Sera was the one who approved the exterminations,resulting in the death of billions of sinners, which puts Carmila and her daughters in danger. So that's not really a great way to start a relationship...

However, I think in any other circumstances,I think these two would be a nice couple.

They both just want to protect the people they love and are willing to go to extreme measures to do just that. It could be Sera realizing not all sinners are absolute monsters,and some were just people who made mistakes in life. Kinda of like Vaggie realizing the hellborn weren't terrible upon meeting Charlie.

Also, they're both very elegant ladies who need another refined woman to treat them right 😌🏳️‍🌈

* Thank goodness they are finally addressing Marissa and Jane making the Pit a little more grownup. I would like some reassurances that the mattresses are on actual bedframes and not just on the floor.

* I feel like Manny and Jane really, really, really need to put some effort into rehab and occupational therapy. Second vampire paralyzed in this series, but dude hasn’t been out of his room in months? You gotta do more to rehab him, guys! Give him some mobility aids, figure out what he needs to regain even a little independence! Come on!

* Thank goodness we get the reveal of Selena’s sickness early and won’t be dancing around that forever. (Spoiler alert: 😢)

* Aww, I was hoping Throe would be cool.

* It’s very funny reading stories from 00’s-10’s that reference technology and pop culture, both because of how it makes it very much a product of its time, but also as the story gets closer to current day the tech evolves. We’ve gone from Razors to iphones.

* Also, the Brotherhood finally coming to the 21st century as well by letting females and civilians train is also nice. Will the doggen be next???

* I’ve lost track—we’ve had Mr. C before, yes? Or was that someone else? (Spoiler alert: don’t bother getting attached. His head certainly won’t.)

* Aww, I like Rhage/Mary. They feature in the next book!

* Will someone *please* have sex with Layla? This poor girl has been waiting *forever*. (Spoiler alert: still no)

* “Why are you still talking?” I love Selena. She is not afraid to just go for what she wants.

* I have missed classic Rhage and I’m glad he’s back. He eats like I would if I still had the metabolism of a teenager. I assume he’s so invested because he’s been in exactly Trez’s spot with Mary.

* Doggen need a union to look out for and advocate for their interests and wellfare!

* I would like to have more Rhage and Manny interactions, please. They are my comedy relief duo.

* Yes! They nail Assail for enriching the lessers! Assail claims the King has no control over the flow of commerce to humans, but I’m pretty damn sure when you involved the lessers he gets to have a pretty big say and you get to be dead. But we’re gonna get a redemption arc and he’s gonna get Sola instead, isn’t he? 😠

* “How are you still a guest in this house?” someone asked. “Haven’t you left yet?” Fair to ask of Lassiter, but it’s not like their guests ever wind up leaving anyway (except my sweet Saxton).

* “I want you to promise me—I want you to swear on your heart and mine—that you’ll keep going.” Honestly way more romantic than Feyre and Rhysand dying together.

* Again, men making a woman’s grief and hardship about him. Not that Trez doesn’t have legit issues, but now is not the time to be making stupid generalizations about what she’s trying to tell you.

* But it resolved quickly! Because Selena doesn’t let him go with issues unsettled! She’s not subtle. Great female.

* Well. These books may be gratuitous and often silly, but JR Ward does do gut-punch grief really effectively. 💔

* The good bye. The pyre scene. The salting scene. 😢 I love how Trez and iAm are devoted brothers.

* “These proud warriors, and their females, had adopted two orphans who had been out in the world on their own . . . and they were prepared to fight to the death to protect what was theirs.” ❤️

* “Pulling away a little, she asked, “You’re sure this is real?” He shrugged and smiled at her. “Of course it is. You and I were written in the stars. . . .” With that, he kissed her lips again.” Aww, iAm I’m happy for you!

Bottom line: Definitely not the ending I expected. iAm and maichen were a nice story. Trez and Selena…whew. I like how there were a lot of stories going on in this one (and I’m eager for Rhage/Mary next book). These books remain silly and I certainly felt that, but the back half of this book was high stakes and angst and love (both romantic and not) and I liked it way more than I expected at the start.

Rating: five out of five unnecessarily painful rituals for the back half alone
