I ripped the bandaid off and just reread the first book in the Young Jedi Knights series with the old EU Solo kids and their friends.
Oh my god I know why I loved them all so much. They're such a joy. I cannot wait to meet Zekk. I am home.
And I know why I avoided this series. Because why?
Who in their right mind would say we have a template for a well written, kind, animal loving, boy who tried his hardest to make the super serious warrior girl in his class who was a secret princess laugh and look at his loving uncle and loving parents who had had so much character development
and nuke. it. all.
And make sure Ben Solo/Kylo Ren was the name everyone knew. Made sure everyone knew they ruined his parents and ruined the character development of his father and turned his uncle into a shell. We could've gotten Luke smiling at his students getting into a food fight! Food fight!
We should've gotten Jacen, not Ben. Should've gotten Jaina and Tenal Ka, not Rey. Lowie and Zekk over Finn and Poe. The OT Trio should've been treated with respect. Old Peckham(That's a name I could NEVER forget, I loved Old Peckham) over Maz. Brakiss over Snoke. The temple in the jungle over ruins.
The template was right. Fucking. There. And they nuked it all.
Yes there was a reason I didn't dare go back to the real Solo kids, their friends, and the way they loved their father and mother and uncle. Because they trampled over it all with no respect for the story and characters. Just wanted their fame and red carpets and money.
(I swear I normally like Kylo and Rey and TFA I just. I think I care more about not being a "sequel hater" then letting myself be honest)

yeah i think my biggest issue was that it was bc it felt exactly like anakin’s fall? he was pro boy my favorite character in the legends story and it just felt like they were recycling the skywakler story into his character. but regardless getting kylo instead of any of the 2nd generation skywalker/solo from legends was the biggest downgrade ever.
i see, i see! yeah, i agree that it was similar to anakin's fall however jacen and anakin were such a different characters in their cores, that i didn't mind it. jacen was pacifist, who wanted to have nothing to do with violence and war. he didn't really want to be a jedi. he was space royalty but he was never close with his parents, he fell in love with a queen but she shot him down so many time - honestly, he reads to me more like obi-wan (and his story with satine). anakin was total oposite, slave boy who hang on his mother and wanted nothing more than to be a jedi and while meaning well, he lived for the fight. jacen and anakin fall for similar reasons, but that's all i can find similar about their characters - which i think they could've make an interesting movie about.
yeah, kylo, well, pff, i- what's there to add...

let me make it clear to you all and reiterate what other fans have said before: finn got sidelined for rey. finn got sidelined for rey. the moment he loses to kylo in tfa and stays unconscious for the remainder of the film and for a little bit of tlj, he has been sidelined. do i love finnrey with all of my heart? fuck yeah i do. but do i wish finn had gotten the development and attention like rey and kylo got? do i wish he wasn’t downgraded to a side character and had more influence on the plot? do i want finn to be seen and recognized as one of the best star wars characters? hell fucking yeah i do

bitter air and winds of spite
rating: pg13 for mild swearing
words: 3771 (way more than i intended to write. ‘it’ll be a short fic! maybe 1-1.5k words!’ i said, foolish and naive.)
summary: in which their ship crashes, hux insists that kylo ren is an idiot with a concussion, kylo ren can't really muster much of a defense with his horrible pounding headache and nausea, and they must overcome their differences with the power of stabbing, shooting, and general lightsaber-ing.
happy holidays everyone!! this is my submission for @starwarssecretsanta
i had so much fun participating in the gift exchange this year, and had the opportunity to write a kylux fic for @gay-agents-and-generals, which i had an absolute blast with. i always forget how much i love writing for this ship, which funnily enough is the reason i got into star wars fandom at all!
so here’s an absolutely self-indulgent, long-winded, only-the-tiniest-bit-serious fic with the barest semblance of a plot.
Read on Ao3
Everything about General Hux was sharp.
Kylo Ren had known a lot of weapons in his life, had known he was a weapon to be used for as long as he could remember. An advantageous friendship to have. A pupil to be molded. An example to be paraded around. A mark worth targeting. An assassin to send. A source of information and control.
He was a lightsaber, bright and showy and deadly. A symbol.
Hux was a Krath war blade. Such a fine blade that you could take a step before even realizing your throat had been cut, so deeply imbued in the Dark Side that it was impossible to even get a reflection.
His grin was sharp. His thoughts were sharp. His ambition was sharp.
The only thing that wasn’t sharp was his Force presence. General Hux was as Force Sensitive as his boots, and about half as overtly emotional. He was brilliant of mind and tremendously ambitious, but he was not of particularly vibrant personality.
Which suited Kylo just fine. He could only shudder to imagine just what a man possessed of irrationality could do with Hux’s abilities. And that’s considering the massive superweapon that he was building to wipe out literal star systems. Hux, at least, had no plans to run off on his own and destroy civilizations for the hell of it. No, everything, every moment, every breath, every plan had a purpose.
At least, that’s what Kylo was telling himself as they trekked miserably across Bumfuck, Nowhere, Wild Space in the pouring rain and high winds.
Hux hadn’t exactly asked Kylo along, had in fact requested he not come at all, but really. In what galaxy was Kylo going to sit around and wait while Hux gallivanted around the galaxy, investigating potential assets for the Order and having wild adventures without him? At least, that’s what Kylo assumed the intention was. Considering the ship had been shot at upon entry to the system and had promptly crashed, the original mission, whatever it had been, had been scrapped in favour of Surviving Long Enough For Rescue, so he hadn’t really had a chance to quiz Hux on his motives.
The three troopers that had survived the crash were working on the ship to see what, if anything, could be salvaged or used to call the Finalizer for rescue, and Hux and Kylo were hiking through the wilderness for… something. In full honesty, his brain had been vibrating since the crash and he was decently certain he was still bleeding a bit, but he didn’t really want to take his helmet off. Not in front of General Armitage ‘You-Should-Strap-Yourself-In-Ren-And-If-You-Don’t-You’d-Better-Not-Complain-When-You-Get-Hurt’ Hux.
“We’ll stop here,” Hux announced, cutting through Kylo’s thoughts. “Any closer, and we’ll be spotted.”
Kylo’s eyes snapped towards where Hux was gesturing and belatedly noticed the almost completely hidden base. The only signs that there was anyone in the weirdly shaped dirt mound was the machinery just barely poking out – anti-aircraft guns. The very same that had probably brought them down. Anger roiled in his belly, deep and hot, followed by a wave of nausea.
Hux crouched, bringing himself as close to the edge of the ridge as he apparently dared, pulling macrobinoculars from somewhere and lying down on his stomach to begin to assess the situation. Kylo reached out his mind, because if Hux did all the work while Kylo sat around, he’d be an insufferable bastard about it later, and he could sense a few dozen people, all adults, all filled with the grim satisfaction of bringing down an enemy ship.
He’d enjoy killing them. Maybe a little blood would help with his headache. Certainly couldn’t make it worse.
“About thirty-five lifeforms, definitely the bastards who brought us down,” Kylo announced smugly.
“New Republic base, about fifteen years old, three planetary defense grade ion cannons. Small hangar for speedercraft. No ground cannons.” Hux turned to smirk at Kylo. “I thought your weird mind powers were supposed to be helpful?”
“Shut up,” Kylo grumbled.
Hux seemed put off for a brief moment, his eyes narrowed just a bit, but then he turned back to watching the base without snarking back. “They don’t seem to be expecting an assault; they probably think that we all died in the crash. Imbeciles.”
“So, I’m going in, murdering them all, and then we’ll call for extraction?”
“We’ll see,” he answered cryptically. “I want to do a little more surveillance first so we know exactly what we’re dealing with.”
Kylo shrugged, sitting unceremoniously on the ground. “Suit yourself.”
He wasn’t sure just how long they sat there without speaking, but the hope that sitting quietly for a little while would make everything less wrong faded more with every second. Concussion, his mind supplied grimly, and a pretty bad one. But it was fine. He just had to stick it out for long enough to get back to his quarters, which wouldn’t be long now. He’d go in, kill everyone in his way, call Phasma, and then he’d get to sleep, and it would be fine. Was fine now, in fact. He’d done more with worse injuries.
Hux seated himself right in front of Kylo. “Okay, Ren, ready to tell me what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Kylo said, because nothing was wrong and everything was fine.
He hummed doubtfully. “Mind taking off that helmet for me?”
“Why?” he yelped, scooting backwards just a bit. “I do not need to do that. Why would I do that?”
“Because you clearly have some kind of brain injury and if we’re going to be clearing out that base, I need you to be coherent.”
“I’m coherent!”
He rolled his eyes. “Your standard for coherency is pretty low, but I have noticed marked downgrades from even your usual grunting and melodrama. As much as I very much do not miss it, you haven’t tried to argue with me once, and head injury is far more likely than sudden appreciation for the chain of command.”
Kylo opened his mouth to dispute that, but Hux was already on top of him, trying to simultaneously pin him down and get the helmet off. Even concussed, though, Kylo was stronger than Hux and he wasn’t about to go down without a fight. Even though it was kind of nice to be pressed so close to Hux. Even though it was certainly nice to know Hux was worried about him. Even though Hux was surprisingly good at this.
“Just – take it – off – you bastard!” Hux grunted out, knee pinning Kylo’s flailing arm.
“Get off me!” Kylo snarled, squirming harder.
Hux got his other knee onto Kylo’s legs, but Kylo wrenched them both around so that he was on top and pinning Hux instead but ooooh, that was not good on his stomach. The world tilted alarmingly for a long moment and then vomit was filling his helmet and he was yanking it off so he could throw up onto the ground and maybe onto Hux too. If he was gonna be miserable, then everyone was gonna be miserable.
“Hey!” Hux protested, disengaging completely and rolling away, well out of puke-range.
Kylo had a weird, incongruous moment of missing the press of Hux’s body on his before it was discarded in favour of dry heaving into the grass. It subsided as quickly as it came on, and he was left feeling disgusting, wondering just how he was going to solve that particular problem, when Hux shoved a wet rag into his face. He accepted it with slightly muted surprise, wiping away the mess.
“If you’d been less of a bastard from the start and just told me that you weren’t well, I would have given you something for it hours ago,” Hux said crossly. He’d at least had the grace to wait until Kylo had gotten himself clean, an unexpected mercy. The bottle of water he’d clearly used to wet the rag – which Kylo could now identify as a torn spare shirt – was on the ground within reach along with a few stim tabs of varying purpose. The labels swam just a bit as he stared at them.
“You absolute moron,” Hux muttered, passing the stims over one at a time. “For the dizziness, the nausea, and that one’s a stimulant to get your brain moving again.” He grabbed the other half of the shirt and wet it, rising just enough to loom over Kylo threateningly as he dabbed at the blood in his hair.
It was… oddly sweet, Kylo thought, just a little amused at their situation. He injected the three tabs and downed the remainder of the bottle of water, and he hated to admit that he felt almost immediately better.
He turned narrowed eyes onto Hux, once his mind was clear. Just what was the General getting out of treating him kindly? A more efficient attack dog, he supposed, although if Hux thought he was just going to roll over and obey his plans after that mildly humiliating display with the helmet, he had another thing coming.
Speaking of… “Where’s my helmet?” Kylo asked, once he was certain that he would start vomiting again the second he opened his mouth.
“You’ve got to be kriffing kidding me,” Hux said flatly. “What makes you think I’m giving that back to you?”
“It’s mine.”
“It’s full of vomit, Ren. While watching you torture yourself needlessly is usually a mildly entertaining pastime, I really do think that I would give myself a concussion to avoid thinking about you putting yourself through that.”
“It’s mine. Give it back,” he added in a low growl.
Hux sniffed imperiously. “Launched it into the river when you weren’t looking. It’s disgusting and I will gladly replace it. I’m fairly certain you would have had to replace it anyway, given that the structural integrity was definitely compromised.”
Maybe he would have. Maybe he wouldn’t have. Maybe it’s none of Hux’s business. Either way, the helmet was gone, and he was stuck without it.
His first instinct was to knock Hux down a peg – see how he likes his stuff being thrown into rivers – but they were alone with unknown hostiles and even through the haze of anger, Kylo recognized that he was a useful ally.
“I’m throwing your coat into space when we get back,” he threatened.
Hux raised his eyebrows. “Sure. Feel up to killing some jackasses?”
“It’s insulting that you even have to ask.”
“I only ask because a mere fifteen minutes ago, you were vomiting very enthusiastically in my direction,” Hux reminded him, and Kylo had to firmly tell himself that Hux was not one of the jackasses he was planning on killing today. Or, this afternoon, at least. This evening was another story.
Kylo’s only answer to that particular jibe was a sneer as he pulled out his lightsaber. “Let’s go.”
“Just a moment,” Hux said. He shrugged off his greatcoat and folded it neatly, laying it beside his pack, and then his uniform jacket was laid gently beside it. Out of his pack then came four vibroblades, two blasters, and what Kylo assumed would assemble into some kind of heavy assault weapon but was strapped on in separate pieces. He looked ready to murder his way through that rebel base, and if Kylo was being honest, that was a really nice image.
Getting back down on his stomach, Hux primed one of the blasters, its whine soft but insistent. Charged enough to kill. “Ready,” he said. “You head down and kick the nest.”
He didn’t bother saying anything, just turned on his heel and jumped off of their little crest, moving as quickly as he could towards the two guards. They fell quickly and easily, surprised expressions etched onto their faces. It didn’t take long for others to begin swarming him, but he was never overwhelmed – pinpoint blasts took down almost as many as fell to his lightsaber, and he had to be grudgingly impressed that it seemed not a single shot missed its mark.
He counted the bodies piling up – twelve of his original count of thirty-five.
Another came around the edge, laying down heavy blaster fire and Kylo lunged forwards, only for a shot from behind to scream past his ear. He turned, sensing the imminent danger a second too late, only to be treated to the sight of the man who’d shot at him falling limply to the ground, Hux holding a dripping vibroblade and smiling pleasantly. Kylo very pointedly did not think about that image as he turned again, crossing the distance between himself and the shooter in a single movement. They fell down, bringing the body count to fourteen. Almost half, and they hadn’t even made it inside yet.
“Do we want to see if any of these shitstains have ID to access the door, or do we want to just laser-sword it into submission?” Hux asked casually, coming to stand beside Ren and look the door over critically.
“My way’s faster,” Kylo got out, absolutely not distracted by the spray of blood that had painted Hux’s cheek.
Hux gestured grandly at him to go ahead, a movement Kylo vaguely remembered from his diplomacy lessons as a kid to be for royalty on one of the Outer Rim planets. Whether it was a compliment or an insult, Kylo did get them in there pretty quickly, carving a massive hole in the door and then kicking it down with a dramatic, athletic move.
Hux didn’t seem too appreciative, but it’s not like he was trying to impress him anyway, so whatever.
Four guards waited just inside. Each of them got two, and Kylo wasn’t sure when he’d decided he needed to have the higher kill count, but he was definitely going to. Seventeen left, and he was already up by a few.
Without waiting for input from Hux, Kylo headed off down the leftmost hallway, his senses telling him that the highest concentration of life forms was down there. Sighing obnoxiously, Hux followed, and Kylo could hear the soft rustling of fabric and knocking of durasteel as weapons were swapped out.
They approached quietly enough that no one seemed to notice them, all scrambling to pack up data and other equipment. It seemed to be a command hub of some kind, since there were loads of screens and one platform where a leader could ostensibly look out over everyone to direct workflow, with thick barriers holding up the leader’s tech.
Hux tapped his shoulder, indicating the platform. Evidently, he’d had the same thought, and they moved as one.
Kylo reached out with the Force, throwing one against the wall while he speared another, and Hux nailed three in quick succession as he sprinted across the room. Kylo covered their move to the platform with wide, sweeping motions, the smell of burnt flesh so much worse without his helmet to filter it all out. There was screaming and moaning and yelling and total chaos, which was honestly just how he liked it. He could feel his pulse thrumming in his ears, and he grinned at Hux, who gave him a bloody, vicious smile in return.
Once they got up to the platform, it was game over. Hux hefted the heavy assault rifle with practised, eager hands and laid down fire on anyone who tried to approach. Kylo reflected any attempts at shooting them right back at the perpetrators, lightsaber spinning in both his and Hux’s defense.
It seemed to last for both an hour and a second – he blinked and suddenly none of the Rebels were standing. One was groaning, and then Hux shot him again, and he stopped groaning.
He did a body count – thirty-four. And where was –
“Lucky number thirty-five,” he growled, reaching out with the Force to snatch the last one, who’d been sneaking up to Hux with a blade in hand. Eyes just a little wider with more surprise than he usually let himself show, Hux turned to see his would-be assassin choke for a long moment before she collapsed.
There was a long pause. “Thank you,” Hux said, as if it grated on him to do so.
“You’re welcome, General,” Kylo said, and then seized on the opportunity to gloat. “I know you wouldn’t have made it without me.”
“I’m happy to let you believe that,” he said stiffly.
“And I’m happy to let you believe whatever you want, too,” Kylo shot back, pouring as much amused condescension as he could muster into his voice. “Either way, let’s find the comms.”
Hux huffed out an annoyed breath, seeming to weigh having the last word against Kylo choosing to be productive. He chose the latter, but didn’t seem happy about it, which figured. “It should be this way,” he said, not waiting on Kylo to follow.
“I think we’re going the wrong way,” Kylo said, just to be a jerk. There really weren’t that many hallways around here.
“If you have nothing useful to contribute – oh, there it is.” Hux pulled a First Order beacon device that would let them connect to Phasma from his pocket, crouching to inspect the communications panel better. It was smoking slightly and the door wasn’t latched on properly, and Kylo knew what Hux was going to say before he said it. “Damn. They wrecked it before leaving.”
“We’ll just need to rewire it,” Kylo said confidently.
They both reached for it at once.
“I can do it,” Hux said, and the probably quicker than you can went unsaid but heard loud and clear.
“So can I,” Kylo shot back, annoyed. Whether he liked to think about it or not, his first calluses had been from playing with janky wiring on Han Solo’s beloved but barely functional rustbucket, and he was pretty sure that that made him more qualified to play technician on this bit of janky New Republic wiring.
Hux rolled his eyes and gestured for Kylo to go ahead. Kylo narrowed his eyes but didn’t hesitate to start in on the wiring, assessing the mess with a critical eye. Maybe being on the Finalizer had him spoiled, because this somehow seemed worse that what he was used to. How in the kriffing Force the New Republic managed anything when their movement was, at best, a squabbling collective of similarly minded but disconnected systems with what he could only guess amounted to about seven credits, nine starships from the Clone Wars, and more fancy dresses that one could shake a lightsaber at, was well beyond him. He was so glad that his job had nothing to do with politics.
“You should connect the red and the green,” Hux said, cutting through his thoughts.
“I know what I’m doing,” Kylo snapped. The red and the green did need to be connected. Dammit. He slipped in the beacon and started just prodding around to find the loose connection.
“Next –”
“Shut up, Hux, I know what I’m doing!”
Hux raised his eyebrows and took a step back, arms raised in mock surrender. “Sure, you do,” he said mildly, as if Kylo’s annoyance was a personal attack on his innocent soul. Ha!
“Yes, I do!” he said firmly, jamming his hands back in and tuning Hux out.
As expected, Hux refused to be tuned out. “I’m just saying –”
“You always undermine me –”
“You always undermine me!”
“This isn’t about you!”
“Because everything has to be all about you, all the time?”
Kylo clambered to his feet. “I didn’t mean it like that!”
“Didn’t you? Because you are the most self-centred person –”
“That is rich coming from you!”
Hux was right in his face, his eyes blazing. Kylo didn’t think he’d ever seen him this worked up about anything before.
There was a long pause – Hux’s tangle of anger and anticipation was heady on Kylo’s tongue, the air itself seeming to still as if the world itself hung in wait to see how badly they were about to murder each other.
But then –
He wasn’t sure who moved first, but when they kissed, Kylo could feel Hux’s body heat pressed against what felt like every inch of him. Gloved hands gripped his hair tightly, yanking just enough to pull a soft growl from him, vibrating against both of their lips.
Kylo slammed Hux back against the wall, and they jumped apart at the sparks that erupted from the forgotten communications panel, breathing heavily and eyes locked.
There was a sharp crackle, and then Phasma’s voice – staticky and jumpy, but definitely hers. “General Hux?”
“Captain Phasma,” Hux greeted, and although outwardly, he was controlled and even, Kylo could hear his thrumming pulse. “Is this a private channel?”
“Yes, of course, General. What’s going on down there? We lost contact with your ship,” Phasma said.
“We got shot down,” he said, with the kind of casual airs of someone reporting on the weather. He was smiling, and it made the blood on his cheek crinkle.
Phasma sighed, and when she spoke, the disapproval was heavy in her voice. “Why can’t you ever play nice with the other kids, sir?”
“He’s an insufferable bastard,” Kylo suggested, earning himself a swift punch to the arm. He made a face right back at Hux’s sour expression.
“I do suppose there’s that,” she agreed, clearly amused. “I’ll gather a strike team to take care of the rebels on the planet and an extraction team to get you two out of there.”
Hux sniffed imperiously. “How inefficient do you take me to be, Captain? We’ve cleared the rebel base. That’s actually where we’re calling you from. We’ll need an extraction team, and the troopers left at the wreckage will also need transport.”
“The teams will be en route as soon as we can get ships in. Are there any injuries they should be aware of?”
“Nothing serious,” Hux said.
“Unless the troopers decided to play landmine hopscotch in our absence,” Kylo added. “They didn’t seem very bright.”
Phasma sighed again, and he could almost sense her exasperation from orbit. “They were perfectly competent soldiers. I’m sure they’re fine.”
“If you say so,” he said, infusing as much doubt into his voice as he could.
“Captain, please send the extraction team as soon as possible. Being surrounded by rebel stupidity is giving me hives,” Hux cut in, apparently also inclined to be kind of a dick to Phasma for no good reason. Actually, no, it was fun, and that was as good a reason as any.
“They’ll leave shortly. Can you keep yourselves entertained in the meantime?” Phasma asked wryly.
They exchanged a sharp grin. “I’m sure we’ll find a way,” Hux said.

Do you think Nova Palpatine suffers from Stockholm Syndrom due to Kylo Ren adducting her from the planet she was on and she falls in love with him? (This question I keep seeing being asked on Kylo Ren fics)
[cracks fingers] Okay, time for a break down
Nova and Kylo are a Sith Dyad within the fic which makes them each other’s half; the two of them were able to see, hear, and sometimes even feel one another through space and time. They always had a bond with one another from the moment that Nova was born.
Hux was going to use Bylsma’s planet as target practice for the First Order’s newest in production weapon which was itself Starkiller Base that was created on Ilum. Nova was going to die there with the old man and she unknowingly called on the Force to choke Hux until Kylo rendered her unconscious and took her. He did this for 2 main reasons.
He felt how familiar she was, not knowing it was their bond at the time, and he naturally had an instinct to protect her. Which leads us into the second reason.
Kylo knew that Snoke would want her dead because she was a Force Sensitive so he literally begged Snoke to keep her alive and told him that he’d train her to use the Dark Side of the Force to appeal to him and his ways. This is because Kylo, himself, is a victim of Snoke’s abuse and knows how to play the game to stay alive and not get scolded.
Stockholm Syndrome by definition is: a condition that occurs when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers.
Nova was never a hostage and she wasn’t abused by the First Order, she was respected and treated with dignity. She was able to leave if she wanted but she never did because she had nowhere else to go except for Jakku—but even then, she believed Rey was either dead or gone. So she stayed.
If anything, Snoke was Nova’s abuser. He tortured and abused people she cared about right before her very own eyes, he downgraded her, called her emotional and soft, and inconsiderate. Kylo never harmed Nova and even during their trainings whenever he did “harm” her, he made sure that he told her what he was about to do and how much discomfort it’d cause her. He was always thinking of her and made sure that she was okay.
Case in point.

Permission Granted
Tumblr media
Titolo: Permission Granted Pairing: FemStormtrooper!OC/Armitage Hux Warnings: Needy general, bad jokes, smut and little fluff Summary: You are a Sergeant Stormtrooper who serves on the Steadfast after the collaps of the Finalizer. One day, Randy the new Intern, delivers a Spiran Caf with an excess of Lothalian Currant Wine to General Hux. Managing a drunk Hux was certainly not in your plans. Words: 5328
A/N : Hi, guys. I’m still sorry for the bad english. This time I did a long one-shot with my favorite character. I love him too much and cannot accept his departure. I don’t know how many fanfics I will write about him, but I can probably say that this will not be the last. I will be grateful for all the comments and reviews (even negative, if constructive) that you want to leave. After saying this, enjoy the reading.
———————————-
It was a day like any other. You had checked the progress of your sector, consulted by the leader of the group, updated the database and you should have eventually compiled your usual report of the day.
But fate had other plans for that day.
Protected by your armor and showing the black pauldrons, you were walking down the corridor with your head totally immersed in the holopad you held in your hands.
The team Leader SE-0987 has just been given a party after the assured victory over Mustafar’s soil on the sixth floor of the Steadfast, in the dining room and dinner of that sector.
You have just been notified that you were invited to this party but that you didn’t observe the captain’s mandate’s first email.
You looked at the time on the screen and frowned. It had already started a few hours ago, would it have been wise to stop for a few minutes? Aware that, you should have established an end to your report?
Despite a thousand doubts gripping your mind, you had nevertheless taken the path to that side of the ship, hoping with the same thing that nothing too inconvenient was done. It wasn’t the first time after all that a team was making trouble after a successful mission.
When you turned down the corridor of the room to reach, you stopped.
The music reached your ears distinctly even though the helmet still attenuated its power and a large group of stormtroopers were about to enter.
You reach the closed door and with a sigh, you also approached to open it.
The one that is presented to you was the most absurd scenario you had witnessed in 17 years of service.
First of all, the room was huge. You had never had lunch in that area, being on the upper floors and you asked yourself if the size of the room needed all the excessive number of stormtroopers concentrated in that wing. Furthermore, a soft red light filled the air and the walls, like a veil.
The second thing you noticed was the crowding. You were almost ninety percent certain in that room there weren’t crowded alone in participating groups but literally the first 7 floors of the unsolicited and non-operational agents at the time.
And third, that even the highest grades were joined in that party. Officers and generals chatted with various agents and it all seemed completely out of the power struggle he was facing.
You asked yourself if General Allegiant Pryde knew about the improvised one. It would probably have been better if you hadn’t been found in such a situation.
As soon as you had time to turn on yourself and someone collided with you, however you didn’t step back an inch while the other figure fell to the ground.
You opened your eyes wide.
“Are you going to keep -hic- staring at me, soldier, or do you want to help me?” Hux puts his hand on his head as he stretched out his other arm in your direction.
Fortunately they all seemed too distracted to have noticed that particular incident, and before you could get into more trouble than expected, you grap him by the gloves.
Believing that he could stand once helped, quickly move away from his hand but he literally collapsed on you, clinging to your shoulders covered in armor.
The man was decidedly taller than you and, from what you could see behind your helmet, his eyes were red and clouded even if the pupil was dilated beyond normal.
Hux looked down at your shoulder and not the classic black pauldrons of your title.
“Oh, a sergeant. I’m sorry.” He let his arm slide along yours, and even if it didn’t directly touch your skin, you shivered.
“General, am I allowed to speak?” You asked how it was from the correct label. No soldier of lower rank could turn to that of higher rank except by permission.
“Permission granted.” Laughted Hux, trying to put his feet better to stay straight.
“Are you okay, sir?” You were seriously worried about his health. Maybe he had hit his head when he fell.
“Not really, sergeant. It seems that an –hic- intern named Randy confused my –hic- Spiran Caf with something decidedly alcoholic,“ sobbed the red-haired general, waving a covered finger in front of your face for no apparent reason. "I was going to –hic- degrate him.”
You grabbed the fly. The man was definitely drunk. Thanks to the helmet you didn’t notice any smell, which was filtered, but from the way he literally leaned on you, his bruised eyes and persistent hiccups, there wasn’t much else to allude to.
“Sir, you are drunk.” You turned around and you clearly noticed that by now you had attracted the attention of some stormtroopers. It would have been a problem if some admiral, lieutenant or general had seen him in that state. General Hux had already been downgraded in authority, Pryde had literally outclassed him. “It is better if I take you to your quarter.”
You covered the general’s body as much as possible with yours and pushed him towards the door in the least obvious way possible. But the man seemed to want to make the task impossible for you.
“No, let’s stay a while!” His complaint was almost that of a child and suddenly he moved away from you, pulling you by the sleeve of his white jacket.
That lament definitely attracted attention and you blushed. “General, I-”
“All the other generals –hic- are here, I want to make friends. You should make friends too, ser –hic- geant.”
The right eye had a nervous tic. What the hell did you care about what his colleagues and subordinates would think of the conditions under which he was reduced? He was your superior, but you were definitely not his babysitter.
“General, if your choice is to stay in the wolf’s den, go ahead. I will not assist.”
You tore your arm from his grip and walked away, approaching the door and clashing with soldiers who had huddled to see what was going on.
Once the door closed behind you, you went back to the pearly white corridors and sighed. He had heard of men who reduced themselves badly with a little alcohol but the General … he was a completely different person.
You half turned to the closed door and frowned. You had seen how troops had quickly pulled out the holo to retake the general and in a way it didn’t seem fair to him that he would pay for the mistake of an idiotic intern.
You snorted while sliding the door again. You entered with a brisk step, pushing the soldiers away and before the door could close again you had grabbed Hux by the arm and dragged him behind you.
Fortunately, the man hadn’t resisted, so in addition to a few trips, you managed to drag him far enough from the room.
“Are you jealous, Sergeant?”
At that question you stopped your steps and looked at him with disbelief.
“General, with all due respect, but you were ridiculing yourself.” You rolled your eyes and when you turned to continue your journey and leave him to his destiny, he rose over your shoulders risking you to fall.
To avoid both of you ending up with your butt on the ground, you grabbed him by the thighs while he let his arms slide down your shoulders and neck and his chest leaning against the back of the armor.
It was incredibly light, which amazed you. You were used to training with much greater weights and for its height you thought it weighed more than 80 kg.
Maybe he wasn’t eating properly.
“I will take you to your quarters, sir. I think it’s the wisest choice.”
You sensed his head dangling to your right and because of the helmet you couldn’t distinguish it well.
On the way, many stormtroopers turned to look at you but nobody said a word. The drunken general’s voice had probably not yet reached all ears.
You hoped that your name wouldn’t come out in the gossip, you would have wanted anything except to face the wrath of Pryde or, worse, of Kylo Ren.
“Sergeant, have I been a good –hic- general for you?”
The question still surprised you. You had never spoken to the general except to convey the day’s information or reports.
The First Order had taken you from the planet of Andooweel in the Arkanis sector at the age of 8. Since then, with grueling 17-year training sessions you have fought alongside and for General Hux.
He must have been about ten years older than you, yet his figure was always younger despite the tiredness that sometimes outlined his face.
You had followed his orders and witnessed the extinction of the Republic with the final weapon Starkiller. It was glorious.
But then the Starkiller collapsed at the hands of the rebels, you had risked your life to protect it, and Hux’s position had a decisive collapse.
You responded to his orders and still respected the man, but his authority was less than that of Pryde and Kylo Ren. So when Ren gave you orders, those overtook those of your General.
“Of course, general. You are still a great leader.” Adulating him would have led to nothing but stability in the mind of man.
There were heavy moments between you but you continued your advance without problems.
“Ren is blowing everything up for that scrap hunt. I can’t believe I wasted twenty years of my life just to see everything burn at the hands of a spoiled brat.” The general’s voice came out torn and whimpering. His sobbing was finally over, but it was certainly more excruciating to hear him sigh and complain.
Certainly the Supreme Leader was pursuing more of his goals than those of the Order but did it matter in the end? In the end, it all came down to the victory of Kylo Ren, consequently that of the Order would come, right?
However, you didn’t know how to reply to his words. You honestly wanted to do it.
You kept walking and Hux finally seemed to have calmed down. When you came to his room, you coughed up to get his attention.
“General, we are here.”
But the man didn’t reply.
“General?”
Nothing. You decided to take risks.
“Hux?”
But no unpleasant scream came. You just turned to wade him and there, with his face pressed against your black shoulder, the red-haired man slept like a child.
You groaned. You didn’t want to believe it.
“Sir, please. There are four corridors that divide us from the elevator…”
Inevitably, you ended up having to drag him into your room two floors down. It’s okay that it wasn’t excessively heavy, but carrying it on a piggyback ride for more than an hour had certainly not benefited your back from the grueling day.
Tired and irritated, you threw him on your bed. Your room, being of a simple sergeant, was not very large.
It consisted of a bedroom and a bathroom, and the room was already full only with the presence of the closet where you placed the uniforms and the bed on the corner, near the bath door.
Hux moaned and slowly opened his eyes just as you lifted your helmet and put it back in the closet.
“This bed is as hard as the floor of the Finalizer…”
You weren’t curious about how he knew what it was like to lie on the deck of their former flagship.
“I know, General. They are my humble rooms after all.” Finally your voice rang out without the horrible background that the nice stormtrooper helmet gave.
He snapped his head in your direction and rolled his eyes, but not moving from the fetal position he had acquired.
“You are a woman, sergeant.”
You opened your mouth like a fish out of the water and you looked at him confused. What exactly had he been thinking all that time?
“Er, I think so, sir.” You looked at your breasts under the armor and you were sure that nothing dangled between your legs. Had he confused you for a male because of the armor?
He nodded, as if to confirm the fact, and dropped the head he had raised on your pillow again. You wondered if he would leave his scent on the sheets…
“Are you feeling better, sir?”
He didn’t seem exactly returned to himself, but trying to make him come to life ahead of time and give you a good night’s rest had prevailed on the probable sense of guilt that would have occurred later if the man had lost himself in the ship. “Maybe one night on your comfortable bed will help you.”
“I still have a headache.” His water-green eyes narrowed, as if he were judging you without hiding anything. “Are you kicking me out, Sergeant?”
You whitened when you felt clear hatred in his voice.
“I- No, general. But I don’t have many comforts to offer you…” you looked around, highlighting the obvious. Where were you supposed to sleep? On the bathroom floor?
Hux continued to look at you but his eyes had softened again, as if he had just focused on something else much more pleasant. You watched him motionless from your position as he ran his bare palm against the clean white sheets of your bed.
You moved your head in all directions, looking for where he had thrown away the gloves, which he had until a few seconds before, and hoped that they had not slipped between the bed and the keyboard. It would have been difficult to recover them, just in case.
“The First Order should no longer offer me anything, Sergeant…”
You didn’t know how to respond to that self-pity. He was clearly unstable and surely didn’t mean half the things he said. But maybe helping him to realize it wasn’t a bad idea.
“You don’t really think so, sir. You have done a lot in the service of the Order, everyone realizes it. I respect you a lot and even the teams I deal with follow your orders with dedication.”
You turned to pick up the helmet and place it on your head. You felt vulnerable without it while approaching your supervisor.
“Don’t do it.”
You got stuck in the middle, with the object in your hands raised right above your head.
“Take off your armor, Sergeant.” There wasn’t much authority in his voice, it sounded very much like a joke that made your skin crawl.
“Um… sir, you’re probably still slightly tipsy… I don’t think it’s by the rules-!”
“You may be right, Sergeant.” He pointed a sardonic and evil smile. “Or not and you are contesting a direct order from your general.” He stood up on his elbows to better observe your reactions.
You had often heard of officers taking advantage of subordinates, in the most disgusting and treacherous ways. But you never would have believed that Hux was that kind of superior.
However, you would have preferred reconditioning rather than lowering yourself to that level.
“You are my general but I will not execute an overpower order.”
You thought he would scream at you like he did with others or hiss threateningly to literally hang you alive but he grinned amused, stretching himself against what continued to be YOUR bed.
“But mine is an order purely for the good of the community, of course. Now, take off your armor, Sergeant.”
You closed your eyes. How much did you struggle to get there? Could the general really report you and punish you without evidence?
With a flash of genius, you raised the helmet slightly in your hands, letting a finger slide under the neck joint and pressing the button for the recorded radiovision.
The helmet was equipped with an excellent video recorder which was very useful after the missions on unknown planets, you could also have used it for your own safety for once.
“Allright, general. As you commands.”
Place the helmet in the upper door in the closet, with the visor facing you and with a lump in your throat, you began to remove piece by piece the white and hard components of your armor.
You felt the general’s gaze on you but you tried not to be intimidated.
Once you took off your boots, your bare feet touched the cold floor of the room. You decided not to continue further, he would surely have asked you later in case, and you remained in your tight black suit that covered from your neck to ankles. The elastic and resistant material prevented the corners of your protection from pushing and scratching the flesh and it was also a fabric that allowed you soldiers to face lower or higher temperatures.
Hux looked at you from below and with a bored movement of his hand he suggested that you approach him but when you didn’t, he gave voice to his movements.
“Come closer, Sergeant.”
And as ordered, you stepped up to touch the mattress with your knees.
You remained motionless. He completely at ease lying in front of you and you definitely uncomfortable while you found him staring insistently at your thighs.
Then, without warning, he reached out and touched the muscle of your right thigh for a few seconds. You blushed on contact and you looked up at any point in the room.
His hand moved lower, reaching the calves, that at the contact you had stretched until the spasm and remained there for what seemed like hours.
You clenched your teeth, ready for a new attack, but what happened made your mouth wide open like a foolish child.
“Now I understand how you managed to drag me smoothly up to here. The training of my soldiers is still excellent.”
You blinked, as if you didn’t believe the general’s observation.
A smile escaped you and then an evident amused puff. So he wasn’t trying to touch you in any of the ways you saw flashing in your mind. How stupid…
“Why are you laughing, Sergeant?”
The man withdrew his hand from you and placed it under the pillow, observing you curiously.
“It’s nothing, sir. I apologize for my accusation.” You ran a finger over your lips, trying to erase the raised and amused smile that remained on them.
“You have a beautiful smile, Sergeant.”
You looked him up, trying to record any trace of a lie but it wasn’t there. Words from a drunk man, though.
“Thanks, general. It’s kind of you.” You decided not to fight that compliment, albeit dictated by the glamor due to alcohol and you walked away again, to reach the dark slippers near the bathroom, and going inside.
Hux, for his part, remained to contemplate you until you were gone, leaving him alone. He still felt dizzy and when he lifted his head from the pillow the ship seemed to have taken a hard turn, causing the floor to bend under his feet.
After leaving the bathroom a few minutes later, a towel resting on your face and you approached the side of the bed. Your hair got wet a little with the heat with which you rinsed your face but you didn’t notice. Certainly yours were in better condition than the general’s red and tousled ones.
“You can stay if you wants. I will patrol the corridor. After all, this section is not as supervised as the one in your quarters.”
You were about to put on your stormtrooper suit again when Hux’s hand grabbed yours.
“Yes, sir?” You asked, looking at your joined hands.
“They have called me in many ways since I was born … the last one called me aged, skinny and pasty.”
You remembered that rumor. Many lieutenants and officers inside the room had made sure that the voice reached even the lowest ranks.
You wondered, although Hux might have been confused at the time, what reason was there in raising that speech?
But the answer was not long in coming.
“Do you think so? Do you think I’m weak?”
Weak would certainly not have been one of the adjectives you would have used on that man. You had gone through many of them, gaining your rank with effort and dedication. Imagine someone like him, who was even a bastard.
Thinking about it, you had collected a lot of rumors and information about the general over the years of service. Even on what was thought to be a probable relationship with Captain Phasma.
When he pulled his hand away from yours it was as if you realized that Hux really wanted an answer.
“General, you will probably consider my opinion only as that of a subordinate who doesn’t want to be downgraded … but I think you are one of the best generals of the First Order. You brought innovation and the whole galaxy fears or respects us. You thought about tracking down rebels in hyperspace. I think you’re definitely strong.” And you scratched your cheek, looking absently at the bathroom. “And you don’t look as old and pasty as they described you. Maybe thin but you’re a handsome man, general.”
You weren’t sure why you added the last comment. Not that it was required.
But seeing those eyes constantly filled with hardness soften and a calm smile appear on his lips was certainly worth it.
“First you take me to your rooms and then try to seduce me with compliments, Sergeant?” He jokes, trying to stagger to go straight again. He had had his moment to let go and blame alcohol but he had to preserve the little respect you had for him.
“Do I look like the type of soldier who sells herself for a promotion?” You laughed, finally at ease with that man who sat up with his legs out of bed. Hux took a fleeting glance at the closet behind you and then looked back at you.
“Of course not, but I didn’t even suggest it.” He put his hands on his lap, making his finger touch each other. “I don’t think I’ll get more similar comments in the future.”
You took a step back. It didn’t seem right to you to look at him from such a high height.
“I’m sorry, sergeant. I must have made you uncomfortable. I was just kidding.” He said after a short pause where you hadn’t mentioned adding a half word.
You saw him get to his feet but he put his hand almost immediately on the wall to support himself as best he could. His legs were trembling under him and if you hadn’t intervened to support him, he would most likely have fallen to the ground.
“Sorry again.” He stammered, clinging to your forearms, now free of armor and marveled at when you was soft. The leg muscles were much tighter before.
“Am I allowed to lift you up again and take you to your apartment, general?” It might have seemed like a joke but it really sounded like a service you were offering him.
“Would you do that?” He asked immediately, amazed.
“I would do this and more for you, General.”
Initially you didn’t realize how badly others could interpret it but you had no reason to worry about it. It was just the two of you and the general wouldn’t have understood it in a way other than total duty.
So you thought. Until his lips rested grossly on yours and his hands tightened on your shoulders.
You had certainly had your experiences. Physical contact was necessary to keep the nerves in the missions. The First Order didn’t need hormonal kids to fight their battles.
Yet that kiss was sloppy and you asked yourself if it was due to the general’s condition or to your suddenly being immobilized like a rock.
Hux, not hearing you correspond, immediately pulled back and you saw a man destroyed before your eyes. With that hair that had taken directions at random, ending up on his forehead and that look full of fear and affliction, you no longer recognized what you had learned to fear.
What had they really done to this man who was so desperate for contact?
“General-”
“I need this, sergeant. I need to be touched by someone who has no intention of killing me.” He was serious as he spoke and could really look professional if it weren’t for the fact that he was holding on to you so as not to end up on the ground. “But I have no intention of forcing you into anything.”
For some damn reason you didn’t feel like refusing it, right there on your feet. But you weren’t even bold enough to say you were doing it out of pity.
The general was a beautiful man, you hadn’t lied, and you were certainly wondering what it would have been like to have him under you. But it still seemed all too wrong.
“My name is Y / N. Sergeant Y / N.”
“Y / N. It’s a beautiful name.” He agreed, charming.
And it was enough as he said it to convince you completely.
You got up just enough to touch his lips with yours again and gently pushed him back making him collide the back of the knees against the mattress.
He dropped onto it, dragging you behind him until you were forced to straddle his figure, continuing to explore his mouth.
Well, now you were sure he had ingested a lot of alcohol and you could taste Lotharian wine on his tongue. How had he not felt it in the coffee he always drank you couldn’t understand…
The General’s hands in the meantime had reached the closure of the suit at the base of the back of the neck and dragged it down with a slowness that, you were aware, was intentional.
On the way, the tip of his cold fingers touched your skin kept warm by the fabric and moaned against his lips, making him grin with satisfaction.
“General, do I have permission to undress you?” You pulled back, trying to free him from the uniform jacket but that placed a thumb on your lips.
“It’s Armitage here.” He muttered silently. “Permission granted, Y / N. You are allowed to do anything.”
You moved your head to the side, so that your thumb moved away from your lips and you ventured a smile. Surely your name with his voice was one of the most beautiful things you would have ever heard.
You ran your hand along his chest, spacing the material of the coat in the process and when you came to the metal belt it was enough to touch it to make it fall with the rest.
His skin was clear and smooth and perfect in your opinion. He didn’t have muscles as evident as your former partners, but it was certainly a relief to find something new.
After all, Armitage had to be unique in some way.
You leaned over to kiss his shoulder and looked at him seriously.
“Are you having trouble leaving control to someone else, Armitage?”
He was still slightly stunned by his name dancing on your lips but he shook his head.
“Is that what you want to do? Take control?” A mischievous expression took possession of his features, making you relax while gently squeezing his shoulders.
Instead of deigning it with a vocal response, let yourself be clarified with your intentions. You slowly accompanied him down, again with his back against the mattress and your thighs still covered touched the general’s hips, making him hold a sigh.
The hand he had placed behind your back fell to your side and twisted into the mattress covers. While yours wandered from the belly to the chest, making small curious circles with the nails.
His eyes were still wide and watched everything, alert and all too quivering.
You advanced towards his face, stopping to touch a throbbing vein on the neck but soon replaced your fingers with your lips.
You touched the neck like a petal that rests on the surface of the water and when he didn’t react, you became more enterprising.
You massaged his chest with a full palm and you clearly felt him shiver when in addition to your lips, your tongue was added to pamper him.
You gave wet kisses along the length of his neck until you reached the back of his ears.
“Can I continue, Armitage?”
Hux watched you rise again, your face hanging over his, as if waiting for yet another authorization to proceed.
“Don’t you dare quit, Y / N.”
You raised your right hand and brought it close to his face, skirting his lips with a thumb.
There was nothing else to say, you just had to show him that you had no intention of hurting him. Because it was what he was looking for, kindness. And that’s what you would have given him all night.
When you woke up the next morning, the general’s red hair spread out on the pillow and his neck full of love bites was the first thing your eyes recorded.
You stood up with all possible delicacy. It was clear that the general’s full awareness had returned already at the time of your sexual intercourse, but you wanted to avoid the embarrassing post-sex moment of solidarity.
You went to look for a new clean suit on the lower floors of the wardrobe and your gaze was captured by the intermittent light on your helmet.
You whitened. You had kept the camera on all night without realizing it. Had it taken something in the end?
“Good morning, Sergeant.”
A frightened squeak sounded on your lips, forcing you to quickly stop the production of the video and you turned rigid and composed as if you had been called to report. Completely naked.
Hux chuckled, his head still resting on the pillow but his open and evil eyes staring at you.
“Relax, Y / N. I’m still naked in your bed.”
Not realizing that you had taken the position, you loosened your shoulders and sighed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up. I have to proceed with the training and supervision of the recruits.” You bowed your head slightly out of respect and then went back to find your suit. You listened to the unmistakable noise of the mattress going down and up, notifying you that the general must have just got up.
Quickly put your legs up, lifting the tight material up over your waist and then you searched for the sleeves. The zipper was never difficult to achieve given the elastic material but before you could do it yourself, another pair of hands first reached the tongue.
Hux pulled the zipper up until the dress was completely closed and let his hand slide along the passage he had just completed.
“Are you embarrassed, Sergeant?”
You turned to look at him, a little afraid of the reaction he would have. Could he accuse you of taking advantage of his status? Did you become the attacker?
“I don’t know, General. Should I?” You asked, trying not to look down at his naked figure closely next to you. His green eyes were still soft, different from those of the general who walked the Steadfast and this raised you a little.
“I thought, after shouting my name so much last night, it had entered your head by now, Y / N.”
You blushed deeply at that allusion but before you could stammer some excuse, he lowered his face and kissed you slowly, gently, taking you by surprise.
“No, obviously not.” He said once he went straight back, answering your real question and with the usual satisfied smile on his lips. “Am I allowed to use your towels, Sergeant?”
You laughed. “Permission granted, Armitage.”

Many of the arguments that Kylo is abusives also sound like the person making the argument is just upset Rey is being challenged or forced out of her comfort zone. Like I recall reading something that said Kylo in the shirtless scene was abusive because he insisted Rey ask him why he killed his father (“Say it. Say it”) which the writer interpreted as an unconscionable boundary violation. It’s like any kind of pushback Rey receives is construed as abusive, which is so limiting to her character
Those absurd takes betray the fact that what they’re really uncomfortable with isn’t Ben’s behavior per se, but the DIRECTION it pulls Rey’s character towards.
To them, Rey was peak perfection in TFA, when she met Finn: a self-contained wholesome character with no blemishes, no margin for growth, no challenges to face to become a better person and a better hero. Even her behavior towards Finn, after 5 seconds of perfunctory suspicion, was instant adoration. Why ask for more, when you already have the heroine where you want her to be in the first act of the first movie? Why give her an arc at all, when she’s already reached her full potential? Whatever comes after such perfection is a downgrade, a threat to her self-containedness, rather than an opportunity to grow.
To antis, Rey’s integrating her shadow is a negative thing, because it pulls her away from the character she was in TFA, the character who instantly befriended Finn and instantly identified Kylo as an enemy, the character they loved. So it must be abuse.

I think that while it’s important and good to call out TROS for its treatment of Kelly Marie Tran and her character, Rose Tico, I think that it’s also really important for fandom to acknowledge the treatment of John Boyega and Finn, not only in TROS, but throughout the span of the sequel trilogy.
Finn is such an interesting character. An ex-stormtrooper who defects and helps to take down the very regime that indoctrinated/conditioned him to commit acts of evil is such a fascinating concept. But even though he’s a lead character (a co-lead with Rey), his stormtrooper roots, and the trauma he faces because of it, are never really touched upon in depth. We get hints that Finn is force-sensitive throughout TFA and TROS, but we never get verbal confirmation in the actual film, for some reason. We were promised that we’d get Finn’s backstory in TROS and yet, we didn’t. Finn’s storyline constantly revolved around Rey while Rey was going through her own character journey throughout the movie.
Finn is the first Black male lead character in the Star Wars franchise. A co-lead. His character poster with him holding Luke’s lightsaber was utterly breathtaking and it insinuated that he was gonna have a huge part to play in this trilogy. And yet, where is his character journey? Where are his force training moments? Where is the storyline about an ex-stormtrooper becoming a Jedi? Where is the foiling between him and Kylo? One that grew up in a loving environment but then turned to evil vs. one that was conditioned from a young age to be evil and yet turned good in the end because of his morals and conscience? Why did these movies downgrade his character so much? He didn’t even get a last name.
Gosh, and not to mention the utter crap and racism that John Boyega has gotten throughout this press tour all because of his harmless opinion about TLJ and a journalist misinterpreting his comments about Kelly Marie Tran and basically sending a mob after him.
And from my own fandom experience, I feel like the reason why a part of fandom doesn’t pay attention to Finn or support him is because 1) he’s a MOC, specifically a black man and 2) he comes off as some sort of threat to the R*ylo ship. And because of this, I feel like Rose and KMT are “props” that parts of fandom use to say stuff like “B*n, Rey AND Rose deserved better” but don’t even extend that same courtesy towards Finn.
Like, if you guys are gonna send out a hashtag about one person’s treatment, then why not try to acknowledge another’s mistreatment as well, especially the mistreatment of a dark-skinned, Black man who was basically sidelined to a supporting character in a white woman’s storyline instead of having one of his own. At the end of the day, Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega, and their respective characters (and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron) weren’t treated fairly at all in this trilogy.

Why do you think Finn and Rose were broken up in between TLJ and TROS?
I’d say it results in a few things
Racist toxic assholes who harassed Loan Tran won and JJ and Terrio kowtowing to the racists and sexist assholes for reducing Rose altogether
The popularity of Finnpoe/Stormpilot and Finnrey overshadowed Rose as a character and her possible relationship with Finn. The tie in novel just showed that the author preferred Finnpoe and wrote Finnrose out of the picture because of that. And….it was all FOR NOTHING! Finn and Poe did not get together and Finn and Rey did not get together. So Finn and Rose were broken up for absolutely nothing, the racists won and Finn ends up alone. It’s as if someone was afraid of an interracial relationship between a black man and a asian woman.
John Boyega. I am not referring to his “not being able to handle it” comment about KMT  as John has apologized for it. After TROS, he has obviously shown visible disdain for TLJ and TROS. Clearly he viewed Finn’s dynamic with Rose as a downgrade to the kind of character he was playing in TFA. He has shown that he prefers Rey and Poe and obviously shows he did not view Finn’s time with Rose very highly.
I just think it’s a real shame. I like their dynamic very much. I do still feel like there are internalized racist overtones with how Rian wrote them and it could have been written better, but I still like Finn and Rose together. These are two characters who lost their families to The First Order. We could’ve gotten a scene of Finn and Rose talk about their families in TLJ. Finn would say he was taken from his family by The First Order and never really knew them. Rose empathizes with Finn’s trauma and acknowledge that they are both cut from the same cloth. Rose and Paige lost their family and home and Finn lost his family and home, they have something in common and a reason to fight for The Resistance and against The First Order. Could’ve just cut the hostility altogether if you just let the characters empathize with each other.
Finn has shown throughout TLJ that he does care about Rose. He listened to her vent about the atmosphere of worlds like Canto Bight, he cared about making them hurt, cared about Rose’s attachment to Rose’s twin pendant, cared when Rose crashed into him and cared enough to carry Rose and cover her up when Rose was knocked out from the crash. Rose was enamored by Finn’s courageous actions from TFA. Escaping the First Order and leading The Resistance into destroying Starkiller Base. But, ultimately disappointed after discovering that he wanted to escape. Rose was in mourning and thought it was a dishonor to her sister. But ultimately they decided to work together and get along better and become close. Rose is obviously infatuated with Finn and wanted him safe after Phasma’s defeat and cared enough to save him from a pointless sacrifice. She kissed him because she loved him. Finn and Rose care about each other and it could’ve been more if they were allowed to.
Finn and Rose had chemistry and excellent potential for a relationship. There was no reason whatsoever to kill the potential. It was simply to please the Finnpoe/Finnrey crowd and to appeal to the racists and sexists who harassed KMT.
Instead of just passing off the kiss as a “heat of the moment” in the tie in novels and dismissing their relationship, Finn could’ve simply just kissed Rose back and they embrace each other.
What should have happened in TROS is that Finn and Rose are sent on a mission to start a Stormtrooper Rebellion. Just imagine Finn goes to Hux’s flagship and Rose helps using her skills to help Finn to broadcast a signal to every Stormtrooper. I think it could be something like this. “My name is Finn, I was FN-2187, a Stormtrooper. Like every one of you, I was taken from a family I will never know. I was raised to do one thing… but my first battle, my friend Slip died and that death marked me and made me realize We are people and we have a choice. I wasn’t gonna kill for them. I had nothing to fight for. Until I met my friends, they gave me a name, a purpose and something worth fighting for.(cue Finn smiling at Rose) So I am here to tell you.  You have a choice. You are people. You do not have to kill for them anymore. Take back your lives and fight the people who took your lives away from you. I am giving you the one choice they never gave you and choose for yourselves. You can either storm this very room and kill us or you can take back your lives. The choice is yours.” Then we get a very emotional scene of Stormtroopers led by Finn’s last surviving Squad member, Zeroes removing his helmet and tossing it to the ground and then we see hundreds, to thousands of Stormtroopers ripping their helmets off and tossing them to the ground. Officers DEMAND they put their helmet back on and kill The Resistance scum, but they don’t. It happens. Rebellion.  Finn and Rose have successfully led a Stormtrooper Rebellion and together burn The First Order from the inside out and Rose could say something that calls back to TLJ. “It was worth it, though. To tear them up, make ‘em hurt.” Finn would embrace Rose in a kiss and say “Now it’s worth it.” And you could’ve had the conclusion to Finn’s story by having Hux at Finn’s mercy. Hux is begging for his life, saying he will call for The First Order’s complete and unconditional surrender and giving Finn and the rest of the Stormtroopers info of their families and planets. But the defected Stormtroopers want blood. All the Stormtroopers who left the First Order because of Finn are telling him he has to kill Hux while Rose is telling him killing Hux will not be right. Finn makes the decision to spare Hux. Finn tells his brothers and sisters “that’s how we’re going to win this war not by fighting what we hate, but saving what we love.” Inspired by Rose, Finn let’s  go of his past and takes Hux in alive so he can answer for his crimes.
It wouldn’t change anything if Rose were in the mission with Finn, Poe and Rey. Finn, Rose and Poe is a more believable trio than Rey, Finn and Poe. Rey seemed to largely annoyed by Finn and Poe’s mere presence all movie. Seeing Finn, Rose and Poe together would’ve just been good, and wouldn’t it make more sense to use Rose’s mechanical skills to get 3PO to learn the Sith language to decipher the Sith dagger? And really, why was Finn just given a new dynamic with Jannah? They pretty much erased Finn’s ENTIRE NARRATIVE by making Jannah a new Stormtrooper who rebelled and was not inspired by Finn’s defection. Could’ve had Finn and Rose hug, forehead kiss her goodbye and kiss her after the battle was over.
But no, they deliberately left Rose out of the adventure. They just had Finn pat her on the shoulder. It came off as a giant middle finger to the fans of their relationship and their dynamic. Then Finn is back to being someone who is just clingy to Rey. The entire point of Finn’s character arc in TLJ is that he needs to live for more than just himself and Rey. He learned that Rey is not his only reason for being. So not only was Rey’s character horribly regressed, it was Finn. He was right back to screaming WOOOOO and REEEEEEYYYYYY. Good fucking god. No wonder everyone now ships Rose with Hux. You gave up a connection to Kylo from Jakku, gave up on trying to resolve the fact that Poe killed Slip and changed Finn’s existence and gave up a Stormtrooper Rebellion.....FOR FUCKING SPACE HORSES. So stupid
They could be more than their past, their trauma and build a future together. Finn could finally move beyond Rey. Finn could take Rose’s last name and get both first and family name from his friends and loved ones. Finn Tico. Now that’s a big deal.

So.
Disney lied to the fans again.
It's Endgame 2.0.
Those cowards promised us a hopeful, satisfying and happy ending.
HOW killing off someone who deserved redemption and love is hopeful?! HOW leaving a girl who suffered all her life from being abandoned and ALONE after seeing someone she needed so much dying and leaving her again IS A HAPPY ENDING?!
Jj Abrams, Daisy Ridley, the cast hid the truth/lied to the fans. Thanks, now I will never support your works.
Also, a big fat f**k to Disney. That's it, I will never pay to watch any big movie from Disney again. Liars who only care about money. Also the biggest racists bastards who kill good white men because... they are White and hated just because they are white.
I'm POC but this is just insane Disney, damn you.
Kylo Ren was killed because he was a white man and a lot of angry antis screamed with hatred against him. Same happened to Tony Stark.
What kills me the most is the fact that Disney disrespected and destroyed the only part of the most kind and hopeful fanbase who supported the new trilogy (reylos). Yet Disney decided to... destroy reylo. Making something a canon for a moment and a kiss and then killing one character and make suffer eternally another IS NOT A HAPPY ENDING.
And here the real win goes to all Kylo Ren/Reylo haters who bullied fans in SW fandom FOR YEARS, who sent threats to the cast who hated/harassed every reylo.
Everyone from the Original trio is dead. The son of Leia Organa is dead.
Is this the respect Jj talked about? The one with they kinda treated Carrie Fisher's character Leia and memory? By killing her son off, by leaving her student devastated and alone again.
Unlike Endgame tho, the bull***t that fandom ate and didn't suspect anything, TROS is already hated, downgraded by A LOT of people in SW fandom.
Disney have a strange sense of humour, you know they brought the balance by making EVERYONE hate SW under the Disney's rule.
I'm just glad I turned my tix when I had the chance. REALLY am glad.
I wonder will they bring back Kylo back in the comics after the backlash? Probably not.

star wars: tros
ok so here’s a messy review. !! SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY !!
the movie started so promising with Kylo’s scene with Palps, the music, the atmosphere i was so pumped! The we had lots and lots of droid jokes (honestly, why?? so much time spent with 3po and that new droid...for some reason)
Hux is now downgraded by Kylo Ren obviously and decides to go behind his back, not to actually kill him but to bring down the entire FO which makes no sense for a character like Hux. it was done so sloppily too, one moment he saves the rebels, the next he’s killed like a dog by a guy who took his place, whom we’ve never seen before SMH!!!! Kylux is my fave ship, but i always expected them both to die... except this is just lazy writing. With 5 more minutes to spare for Hux, they could have shown him plotting behind Ren’s back or smth, anything but what we’ve got. This was so unfair for a character/villain who delivered such a powerful FO speech in TFA.
Moving on, we get some good fighting (and saving...) between Rey and Kylo Ren. Rey stabbing Ben when he was distracted by his mother’s voice was so OOC for Rey lmao. What even was that....?? We got a look at the Knights of Ren (finally!!!) and the big reveal of Rey’s parentage (while we’re handwaving the fact that we established her parents were nobodies and that mattered bc anyone can be force sensitive, like the boy at the end of TLJ. But apparently no, because Palpatine fucked and had a child, which will haunt my dreams as a thought in and on itself..) ANYWAY, she’s taken aback by this reveal but faces Palpatine. A good scene between them. I loved the voices of all the Jedi talking to Rey, supporting her. Hers and Ben’s bond.
Now the scene of Ben’s death was just cruel. I’m not a huge Reylo fan, mind you....but i liked their scenes. I would be completely ok with the kiss not happening but having them kiss, Ben smiling, then IMMEDIATELY dropping dead was so sadistic. And then we don’t even get to see her carry his body and burn it like Luke did with his dad because he just vanishes and WE NEVER TALK ABOUT HIM AGAIN. LMAO. wtf. And in the end..after hearing all the time about Rey finally embracing who she is and not being afraid of it, she decides she’s gonna be a Skywalker now bc apparently she doesn’t even want to speak her real surname.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Overall this movie, while having a few good scenes here and there, could have been easily written MUCH MUCH better. two years for this? i feel cheated

So about TROS... What can I say? Devastated, heartbroken, angry and sad - that's how I feel after watching it. The plot was kinda rushed and looked like they tried to erase what TFA and TLJ have started. Even the characters behaved differently, they were not themselves in this one.
SPOILERS AHEAD, DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET!!!
I'm not gonna count all the flaws of the script - nothing is perfect. But I have to higlight some major ones so maybe my current emotions cool a bit.
1) Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter? Seriously? Rey who was a perfect example of that blood doesn't matter and you still can be a hero even if your parents are not some legendary family's descendants. It was literally answered in TLJ that her parents were no one, but no, they had to revise this part and try to fit in the wrong piece of the puzzle called Palpatine in TROS through Rey.
2) Ignoring Rose completely. Killing off Hux without any further ado. Force ghosts helping Rey but not Ben Solo even after he was redeemed. Leia's pontless death which could be made so meaningful if it saved her only son. I can continue with the list till tomorrow.
3) Now comes the worst part which makes me seeth with rage. Ben Solo and his unnecessary, meaningless death right after he was redeemed.
No, this will not be a hateful message saying it was awful and how dare you spoil the whole saga by killing off my fav character. No. I just want to ask why? Why are you so keen to avoid a full happy ending? Didn't he deserve to not only be redeemed but also stay alive after years of being manipulated and staying in darkness? Didn't Rey who spent nearly all her life alone deserve to finally be happy with someone who loved her with all his heart. If the only reason was to avoid a cliché of happy ending where everyone lived happily ever after, then I have to let you know that considering the movies released during the past decade, they prove that now such an ending is the most unique one. If it was to highlight Rey as the main character of the trilogy it was still a stupid move. Then don't call it the final chapter of SKYWALKER saga just to ignore and get rid of the last person related to them.
Ben Solo just disappeared in the force... You know, it wasn't even as meaningful as it was with Tony Stark for instance. No one even knows it happened, it's not even as big for the plot as it should be. Even Rey doesn't show much emotion afterwards. She was mourning Han much more expressively after all. It just happened and that's all, everyone carries on, no one even asks.
Considering that it was the final chapter of Skywalker saga he deserved to live and continue Skywalker and Solo legacy as he was the only one left of them. IMHO it was a huge disrespect towards Leia, Han, and Luke who are the backbone of the whole saga and even Rey who tried her best to bring Kylo to the light side and the fans who waited for it for so long. The movie is called The Rise Of Skywalker but for me it left the aftertaste of their downfall. As if they just tried to wipe them off from the saga. Ending doesn't always mean death, if a character lives it doesn't mean you necessarily have to make one more film about him. If you couldn't come up with how to make him interact with other characters after redemption you could just throw them to Anch-To as Rey was glad to do herself initially and just let them live happily ever after.
Rey called herself Skywalker in the end which didn't stir any positive emotions, only another try to justify the title of the film. She is NOT a Skywalker and never will be. She's an independent hero of the saga and had the right to stay as the one and not take someone else's last name or rather hide behind it.
Back to Ben's death. If he lived it would have been such a great message that one can not only change, be redeemed but also carry on after that unlike Anakin who died right after that. Sorry, but Anakin lived a life, had the chances to make his own decisions, wasn't manipulated from birth and after all was already quite injured man whose life was supported by his costume. That's logical for him to die right after the sacrifice and redemption. Ben is another story. You had such a great opportunity to make his story different as children shouldn't always fulfill the destiny of their parents and grandparents. Besides didn't we deserve at least one Star Wars couple who didn't end in tears? Didn't we have enough of those?
The purpose of this message is not to downgrade anyone's work. It's just to show that we're tired of the tragedies. Life itself is quite cruel, tragic and sad. Don't we at least deserve a happy ending in a fairytale like Star Wars. I was so excited about it and now the whole holiday mood is spoiled. And I'm not alone in my opinion.
Although I have to thank the cast for their awesome performance. They did the best with what they were given. Especially Adam Driver. That's another pain of mine as I think what happened to his character he's been working on so thoroughly for 6 years was a huge disrespect towards him. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's the main reason he doesn't attend most of TROS related events. That's not what was initially planned for his character. But still he delivered it in the best possible way.
After watching TROS I couldn't even cry properly, just wanted to smash something which is so out of my character. Anyway, I guess this pain will live with me and thousands of SW fans forever. May the Force be with us!

I admittedly didnt really delve that deep into the sequel trilogys fandom I kept myself into the meta and with kylo ren ( and I havent looked at twitter for star wars but I have never really heard of boyega attacked by racists or same by KMT ( was it really racism or just people criticizing rose ticos character because I have seen people throw around racism around casually to things that arent racist like some shippers say that reylo being canon is racism winning for example etc
if I understood the question right:
john b/yega got harassed on twitter mainly by people who were outraged that Omg SW Has A Black Lead ie the worst part of the fandom that pre-existed before the sequel trilogy and I suppose he also got shit on instagram but especially when tfa came out there was a lot of that crap around as far as I recall
KMT was harassed for her looks and various other racist crap on instagram to the point that she closed it and like, 50% were the same people as john but half of them were f/nnrey/st0rmpilot shippers/antis who pretended that the problem was disliking rose and instead were sprouting racist bullshit because sorry but ‘what the fuck is this heterosexual nonsense if finn had to be with a woman then he should have been with rey not this downgrade’ which was one of the things that made me quit SP fandom very fast back when tlj came out isn’t legit ‘disliking rose tico’, is implying that the asian woman is a DOWNGRADE love interest from a white woman and sorry but that’s bonafide racism and you can only dress it in fake progressive-ness up to a point. also I think I reblogged some discourse back when she closed IG let me see, here here here here here here here here here here here and there was more bullshit like that but like... sorry guys it was racism. and most of the rose criticism was dumb af like ‘SHE’S RACIST BECAUSE SHE TAZED FINN IN THE BEGINNING OF TLJ’ is the most fucking stupid thing I ever heard and it was everywhere after that movie came out. like. it was racism 100% and if it wasn’t then it was people pretending not to be but oh they were, 100% they were.
that said most of that shit went down on twitter/IG and not on tumblr but on tumblr you’d see exactly the 50% of antis who’d then go tell her shit on IG/twitter so :’))

Tagged by @wishingupontheskyandstars Thank you <3
Rules: Name your top 10 characters from 10 different fandoms and tag 10 people.
(Do not do what I did and write essays on why you like what you like lol I doubt anybody will read this or cares)
In no particular order-
1. Star Wars: Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (he has my whole ❤️), but also Ahsoka (my role model), Ventress (what a character arc!), Rey, Anakin and Padme, Yoda (in the OT he was hilarious! In the prequels he was too serious. I guess exhile will do wonders for your sense of humor 😂 ) ugh so many great characters!!! I better stop myself.
2. GoT: ugh so many good characters in this fandom too... Arya, Brienne, Dany, Tyrion, Sansa, John, Sam, Tormund, Sandor, Jamie (except the show ruined his arc!!! Come on George, finish those books to heal my soul)... and as much as I hate her, Cersei. Yes, I know I know, but she is such a complex and well written character, and she was perfectly portrayed by the incomparable Lena Heady. She must have been so much fun to play. A once in a lifetime role, and just phenomenal for an actress to score. There are so few good female villians. You just love to hate her.
3 HP: the fandom that started it all for me, and the first novel I ever read all by myself. Also, so many good characters... Harry, Hermione, Luna, Neville, Lupin, Sirius, Dumbledore (an imperfect human being, but that's why he's a good and complex character), Snape (same reason Snape is a good character. Characters don't have to be saints to be fascinating), all the Weasleys (except Percy, you can go impale yourself on a cheap cast iron fence because you didn't spend enough time with boys, according to the psychiatrist in the Virgin Suicides aka the dumbest movie about mental illness I have ever seen).
4 Dr Who: 4th and 10th doctor. Donna (I relate to her so much and her arc is perfect and breaks my heart), and Rose (same).
5. Merlin: the best plotted fantasy show ever. Everything was tight and seemless. Again, so many great characters, but I'm in love with Merlin and Morgana (phenomenal downward chart arc! Once in a lifetime kind of role, a perfect and sympathetic villian you hate to hate because of who she used to be, and love to hate because she's such a fantastic villian)
6. Supernatural: also one of my earliest fandoms! So sad to see it go 😭. Again, so many good characters. Of course my 3 boys, Sam, Dean, and Cas, and Cas' side chick Crowely. Lucifer, Gabriel, Chuck, Meg, and the queen, Rowena.
7. The Black Magician: probably my second fandom I entered as a young child. Literally no one knows about these books, written in the late 90's and published in Australia. I admit they aren't the best written, but they were the first high fantasy I ever read by myself, introduced me to tropes that are still my favs to this day (like enemies to lovers, guardian/ward, master/apprentice, exploring themes of classism, racism, and overcoming homophobia) so they have really influenced my writing in that way. The old 90's style fantasy covers are gorgeous oil paintings that have nothing to do with the plot but they look cool 😂 the new ones are a huge downgrade, still have nothing to do with the plot, but are boring and unimaginative photoshop (fantasy, sci/fi, and romance covers of the 20th century were gorgeous). But anyway, characters. Sonea, Akkarin, Dannyl, Rothen.
8.Hannibal: yes, I am a fannibal! The NBC show is incredible, Bryan Fuller is a gift. True genuis, I've never seen more beautiful cinematography. Hannibal, Will, Alanna, Abigail
9. Grisha verse: I recently read the Shadow and Bone trilogy and I'm in love! Especially with Darkles 😊 that unrepentant irredeemable sociopath has my whole 🖤 'every inch of my tar black soul'. I haven't read YA lit for a few years, but I'm so glad I made an exception for these books! Hopefully the new Netflix adaptation will do it justice. So many good characters, but I'd pick The Darkling, Alina, Nicolai, Genya
10. PotC: my love for all things swashbuckling started in childhood and it hasn't waned a bit! Elizabeth Swan is an incredible female lead, and she especially stands out against the other female characters of the early 2000's, which at the time there wasn't really much conversation on 'the strong female character' questions all actresses get asked these days. I especially love that she's always a little smarter than Will, and the only one to ever outsmart Captain Jack himself. She has an incredible arc. This is also imo the best thing Johnny Depp has ever done. And Orlando Bloom is as magnificent a pirate as he is an elf (he was probably my first celebrity crush lol). It also has some of the best fight choreography, there's always multiple layers going on in every scene so you never get bored. The first movie is an example of a perfect film (in fact there's a video essay about it on YouTube I recommend if that's your thing), the second film is also solid. The 3rd wasn't as tightly written (they hadn't finished the script by the time they started filming lol) so it's too long and meandering but still fun. And I don't acknowledge the other films exist (although the mermaids are pretty). Elizabeth, Captain Jack Sparrow, Will, Barbossa, Davy Jones, Pintel and Raggeti
Honorable mentions:
Uglies (fantastic sci/fi, strong focuse on female friendship. Scott Westerfield is one of two male authors who can write realistically from the teenage female perspective imo), Tally, Shay, Zane, David.
The Tommorrow series (John Marsden is the second man able to write from a teenage girl's perspective) if you're not Australian or a Kiwi you probably don't know about this either lol but it's absolutely a fantastic must read! Ellie, Fiona, Robyn, Chris
Mercy Thompson (the ultimate urban fantasy werewolf series! With mysteries, fae lore and vampires thrown in to spice it up), Mercy, Adam, Jesse, Bran, Stefan
The Hollows aka Rachel Morgan series: (fun urban fantasy adventures and mystery's! Starring a witch, pixie, and bi-sexual vampire living in and running a private investigator business from a rented church, complete with old tombstones in the backyard. Also the slowest of enemy to lovers burns 😋) Rachel, Jenks, Ivy, Trent, Al
The Witcher: I'm brand new to this fandom, but I'm loving it. Yennefer is my queen!
Broadchurch: a perfect mystery series. Hardy and Miller
Hades and Persephone: The Curse of the Golden Arrow- if you like Greek mythology, Hades and Persephone, perhaps are a reylo fan and are a fan of the incomparable @heidihastings (who I'm also challenging!) reylo inspired art, then go buy this gorgeously illustrated novel! (There's a kindle and a black and white version. But if you want to splurge on the colored version of the physical copy, here's the link for that. It's worth every penny.)
I challenge:
@heidihastings @jrae5 @qotsisajakk @shadesoflondonxoxo @a-nerd-obsessed @tracy-adkins @writers-block-personified @ann3onymous @hauscrashburn @starawr

pretty much all of my thoughts on tros (new star wars movie spoilers!!!)
ok so clearly i just saw tros and like i don’t care if it was a flawed movie i don’t care if the storytelling sucked or it wasn’t true to the series or if the characters were inconsistent or the directing or it was cliche or how much of it was just a marketing ploy or anything you can throw at me. i just really loved the movie. and of course i’m really sad that rey and ben didn’t get to like be together, but i got the best and most realistic ending i could ask for. because even though to me there’s a clear line between kylo and ben, to the republic and the resistance there wouldn’t be. i can’t imagine he could just come home. so he’s just, he sacrificed himself for the cause he loved, for his family, and the girl he loves. and i just, they saw each other. they really saw each other. they didn’t see each other as what side they’re on or what mask they wear or anything they just. saw each other. and i’m just so full of emotions.
i read a post about how adam driver changes how he acts the character from kylo to ben and honestly it makes so much sense. ben is such a beautiful character -- he’s curious and nerdy and loving and tender and desperate and just wants to love and be loved -- and he’s so distorted by kylo. which is why i loved tlj so so much. it slowed star wars down. normally the movies feel just too action too fast too much. but tlj felt like it slowed down and focused on the peopel -- which i Loved. and you kind of see hints of it with tros. (i know that’s the difference between directors.) but ben, ben loves his family, and he’s desparate to go back. he’s so scared that he’s gone beyond repair. he’s so young and he has so much power at his disposal. he’s in too deep and he just kind of hits a point (rey plays such a hand in this) that he just wants to get out.
and there’s such a genuine connection with rey and ben. they’re both stuck -- trapped by their greater role, their connection with the force, and their lineage/family. they’re trapped and scared and overwhelmed. but they see each other eye to eye. they understand each other. kylo’s an edgy white boy who thinks he’s invincible. ben, ben’s just scared.
and ben at the end of the movie?? amazing. i just want to watch that over and over and over again. how he just goes immediately to rey. the connection they have. the comfort they give each other. how he crawls (crawls!) to her. how he revives her. how they kiss. how they hold each other so tenderly. the love in their eyes. the sweetness and understanding. aggh! not to be a hopeless romantic on main but i just, i can’t breathe. it was so good.
on another note!!! they did rose so dirty!!!!!!!!!! she’s such a good character and i love her so much!!!!!!!!!!!! she’s such a unique character and so different from so many other female characters out there. she’s curious and she’s bold and she’s brave and she’s tender and she’s, she’s lovely. and i see myself in her. because she’s not the like traditional hollywood type beautiful, but she’s so beautiful to me, you know? and they just, threw her away. made her an extra. and i don’t know what behind the scenes stuff happened to downgrade her from a beautiful, important character to just another person, but it bums me out. she deserves better.
also!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they threw so many things out there they just, never addressed again. i really liked poe getting some backstory and how he was a spice trader and everyone’s reaction to it, but they threw in the girl just to assert that poe’s straight. like come on. and she was such a cool character, but he sole purpose was to make poe look straight and look like a player. and he’s not. disney really wanted us to see him as a flirt and a player, but he’s just not. he’s tender and he’s loving and he’s sweet. he loves his friends and he loves his droid and he loves his cause and he loves those he looks up to. and he’s passionate and intense and. and he’s just not the heartless player they wanted him to be.
and finn!!!!!!! good man!!!!!!! i can’t believe they set him up for a romance with rose (felt forced, but i wasn’t too mad about it) and then just!!!!!! threw it away!!!!! never addressed it again!!!!!!!!! and how finn was going to tell rey something before they got sucked into space quicksand?????? what was that supposed to be!!!!!!!!
and honestly y’all, if disney wasn’t like queerbaiter supreme, i totally would’ve expected poe and finn to end up together. and i’m kind of conflicted on this for a few reasons. first off, i hate that every time that people see a real, intimate, lovely friendship between males they automatically decide they’re gay. male friendship is so important and it’s so overlooked and downplayed -- in life and in the media. i’d Love to see friendships between guys taken more seriously. but at the same time, we Know oscar isaac was playing up the romance. like absolutely playing up the love and yearning. come on dudes.
and i’m glad that they didn’t try to force rey to be with either poe or finn. i was so sure they’d force her to be with poe and honestly i’d be so mad if they did. it would be too predictable and too cliche. and her friendship with finn is just to precious and too beautiful to throw away and manufacture into romance. her and ben though? they understand each other. they see each other. they know.
and i don’t love that she says she’s rey skywalker at the end. i get that she did it to pay homage to luke and leia -- and honestly also to ben -- but i just didn’t love it. i think it would have been so much more powerful for her to just be rey. but at the same time, i get that belonging and belonging to a family is so important for her. and calling herself a skywalker meant for her belonging as a jedi, as a part of the resistance, belonging among her friends and her mentors. i get why she did it, and i get what it meant to her. but i just would’ve rather seen her as just rey. but not the thing i’m the most mad about.
also, i just felt like at times the movie felt forced intense. like i got so caught up with how forced intense palpatine was (admittedly, i’ve never seen the prequels. sorry. just never happened. so i don’t care as much about palpatine as i could.) and the whole stadium of sith cult that i missed some really beautiful and tender moments with rey and ben.
i feel like any one star wars movie is something that you have to look at as a cultural piece of something bigger than itself and as a happening in universe. like, perhaps it doesn’t make sense for all these people to show up for no reason or all these people to be related or chewie to finally get his medal or  tons of people showing up to fight at that last battle stuff like that like within the story, but when you look at the movie as a piece of something bigger, it’s kind of beautiful and kind of sweet. but you of course also have to look at is as people doing things in a world. i don’t know this paragraph makes the least sense but i stand by it. if something seems cliche you gotta understand that star wars movies aren’t just stories, they’re cultural icons. and so there’s a bit of dignity and love that goes with it.
so all this to say, tros was flawed. oh well. i enjoyed it. i enjoyed it as a piece of the greater star wars brilliance. i enjoyed it as a piece of art that made me feel and made me think. the entire time i was rocking and fidgeting and twisting and gasping. it was flawed, but i see those flaws as disney and the corporation and the powers that be getting in the way of what the movie, the story, the piece wants to be. it’s flawed, but it’s beautiful. and it’s something that’ll stick with me forever.
i might add to this later when i have more thoughts. but there’s no space for me to discuss them irl so i just. i have so many thoughts and feelings. art is supposed to make you feel something, and this made me feel a whole lot of somethings. and i love it.

2,4,9,12,17,18 and 19 for the SW ask :)
2. pairing
Fav -Have a lot but currently romantically it is Han/Leia- I love their chemistry that they have together and the hight difference, they can speak their mind to each other and they care about each other. I have some of the sweetest moments together in the OT, just like when they are hugging or reassuring each other. I also like how their character arc are not completely connect to one another all the time, I never felt that Han became a better man to please Leia and Leia arc was just as much about her commitment to the rebellion than her love for Han. Overall the compliment each other, make a great team and have great soft moments together
Least - relyo 4. character
Fav- Too many ( Finn, Leia, Poe, Han, Obi, Yoda, Mando Luke Poe and just so many) but at the top of my head, I have to go with Ahsoka Tano but she is really just one of many. I love watching her grow into a badass, develop her own mind and style, she had great character reactions with almost everyone bring out interesting ideas. It was a great idea to add her into clone wars as an audience surrogate and further create her into a complete 3 dimensional  character. I have so many favs.
Least - I guess i would say more of a wasted character section, but I would have to go with Hux here. This is more of a wasted potential character but at the start he was really interesting, a character with a sad background but an absolute fascist and unrepentant murder, he could have been a great character and foil for a lot of the heroes but then they made him into a no respect butt of the jokes character who i could not take seriously which was a shame as he is acted well, and he could have been a tarkin like character if tarkin lived passed ANH. On a similar strain Kylo, it goes on my ‘I don’t like this direction’ type of dislike
9. ship
Fav- I kind of love any of the ships that look old and busted but are loved by their owners, and feel insulted whenever someone insults their ships. They are falling apart up but they are beautiful.
Least - The  Supremacy, it feel silly how big it is and this was after they lost star killer base and they tried to make it out it was more danergous and advance than that, when all it did was follow them it what felt like a really slow car cash
12. moment/scene
Fav- A lot from every era of star wars but again picking out a random one. It would be when the Mando goes to rescue Baby Yoda. The build up to the decision, the increasing unease of something bad happen, to the Mando, slowly taking out the stormtroopers until shit hits the wall and he has to fight everyone to the calvary arrives. I just love it and by the end you feel that he deserved that victory
Least - I was not a big fan of the whole Leia Poppins scene, not that Jedi did the same thing to save their lives but Leia was seemed out for too long and was far way from the ship. If they had to take her out of the film for a bit they could have done it is a less silly looking way or not put her in a coma at all
17. hero
Fave- Another top the head one, but Chirrut. I love him, everything, in the time where the rebellion was a mess and Empire was everywhere, he just had so much hope and faith
Least- Can’t really find one as they are mostly decent by default I would say Cody as he does not get as much development as the over main clones and he does shoot obi-wan but I can really blame him for that either
18. villain
Fav- Hard to say, currently Maul, he has had some interesting stories. From just an attack dog apprentice for Palps, when he returned he was shown to be smart and anger which made him into such a wildcard character. His relationship with his brother, is interesting and sad, as well as his moments of insanity in relation to obi-wan. His death scene gives sympathy for a villain without completely redeeming him or him even seeking it out.
Least- Tobias Beckett, it not that he is a bad character, he is a long john silver character but I just think he had the same problems as Solo overall had, i liked it but it felt too small for star wars movie. Maybe it solo was done like the series he would have worked better
19. outfit
Fav - I love the mandalorian armor it just as a nice look, and I like how each one has their own uniqueness to them, like sabine painting hers, or Djarin design. Side note I also love how all the clones had paint jobs on their own armor
Least- I did not like Klyo outfit in TLJ, it kind of felt of a downgrade from the rather cool outfit he worn in TFA, also Holdo dress felt a bit out of place, it felt more prequel design than the current designs
