nothing art related or anything (I can NOT draw ppl for the life of me) and I’m a bit nervous to share my art here but maybe just some basic info and rambles here and there :3

i was unmotivated to draw this week so i forced myself to draw in diff styles - and i chose to redesign emmk cus i love them both sm (even tho i dont even enjoy td anymore)

buut then i got the idea of maybeeee i could make a what-if scenario where julia-mk-emma alliance could be made

so here they are!

EXPLANATION BELOW!!! (warning, maybe ooc but it's a rewrite + redesign)

sooo what im bringing to the table is a rewrite of their characters - esp s1

JULIA

for julia, i wanted to make the twist villain thing for s2, which might sound weird... but i can explain

she mantains the happy-go-hippie personality as a facade during the time she stays in the island, whilst in the background she's actively sabotaging other contestants with the help of mk. she only shows her true colors after mk betrays her (which i kept the same, probably after the merge tho) and she gets kicked out. (iii feel like mk would stay longer BUT not be a finalist, mainly cus in this redesign she plans things through very VERY carefully)

she would be used as the main villain for s2, and she would be like julia in mid s1 probably - petty, strategic and, most importantly, deadly. she replaces her tropical, pinkish clothing with blueish popular outfits and she becomes mean as she can be. hostile, she becomes someone to fear as she turns her gentle face into one full of disgust for those around her.

MK

So. you guys know i love MK - shes the whole reason i still havent let go of td - so im giving her the best character ever!

calculative, observative, and sneaky, shes the definition of a stellar strategist. she makes herself look average just to pass by smoothly, and she sabotages everyone she cans to assure she stays that way until the very end.

though she's snarky, she understands that overdoing it might get her on a radar. she observes everyone she can to understand them on face value in order to know how to approach them.

she's naturally drawn to julia, as she notices things in her behavior that differentiate her from genuinely nice people like priya or emma. her smile twitches when no one looks, her eyes do not smile along with her mouth... she's as fake as she can be.

so she observes her during the first episodes, trying to make a conclusion and find a way to get her on her good side.

so she confronts julia alone, which makes julia drop the act and threaten her. mk assures julia that shes in no way trying to threaten her, and that she wants to form an alliance, which julia then accepts after some convincing that they were probably the best duo in the game so far.

she's still got a lot of character outside julia though, and she shows it through her snarky attitude when it comes to everything, and her master thief tactics that she uses to hack and learn what challenge is going to happen and how she's going to eliminate certain people that oppose a threat to her.

However, a duo like them always needs a backup to throw under the bus at any circumstance of danger, so they decide to pick a gullible, insecure person....

EMMA

A nice, silly girl that has some bottled up anger from years and years of frustration she was told to keep in because of her internet persona.

after a messy break up and a fine that cost her almost thousands of dollars, she's pretty sure the bottled up anger is now cracking. she's no longer a youtube star, as her ex's channel was the only thing keeping her trendy, so she no longer needed to spread herself thin to please an audience - to please him.

so! chase is here! hm! how the FUCK is she supposed to continue the game knowing that her stupid ex is in the same tv show as her?!

he's dumb, lazy, and apathetic. he shouldn't be there to begin with!

...so she tries to ignore him as much as she can, though he sometimes makes her want to scream.

either way, her ex aside, she tries to be kind to everyone she meets, but everyone sees her as gullible and naïve cus of it. shes letting everyone see her insecurities by simply existing, and though she's friends with bowie, everyone guesses she won't make it far. she's fun, silly, but also weird in her own way.

mk observes emma and concludes that she's the perfect pawn for their game, and so she finds her alone to play mindgames on her, knowing that her biggest insecurity is not being a good people-pleaser.

mk manages to convince emma that she should join the alliance, and so she accepts. emma's not happy about it though, but she understands mk wouldn't let her join if she didn't saw potential.

THE ALLIANCE

mk, julia and emma are underestimated due to their actions, so it's not hard to cheat in challenges that way. emma finds this a bit uncomfortable, but she helps them with social intel. she's the least suspicious of the bunch, so she can eavesdrop with ease since she's not seen as a threat.

they manage to kick out chase and ripper with ease, and they go unpunished through the series.

well. until mk betrays julia, that is.

mk knows that her days are counted if she keeps julia around for too long, so she frames her as soon as she feels things going against her. it is not pretty, and julia swears on her life she'll take her down.

but she didn't betray emma.

mk never mentioned emma being in the alliance, causing her to get the boot as soon as possible, which is 2 episodes after julia.

emma stays to be in the final five, but she doesn't end up winning.

mk swears it's so that they can team up next season, but it's something more.

HOW EMMK CAN STILL WIN

mk originally was going to betray both of them, but she couldn't. not emma.

emma was a genuinely nice person to be around, and though she was useless when it came to actual scheming, she was funny and understanding.

mk had a big crush, long story short, and couldn't bring herself to see emma get hurt like that. if she had had a crush on julia, which she thought she had, she would've still betrayed her. it was strategy, and there were no hard feelings.

but emma? mk believes seeing her sad face would probably ruin her. she's a truthful person, and mk admires that.

so she and emma stay friends, and continue being alliance members in s2, which escalates into something more.

S2

i believe s2 wld be julia vs mk in terms of main villains, and emmk wld be the main focus when it comes to mk and emma screentime.

julia tries her hardest to sabotage, and mk counterattacks in default, leaving them to battle for dominance all the way til the merge, when mk gets eliminated instead of julia. emma is heartbroken due to her ...friend.. getting kicked out, and she follows the next elimination.

idk for s3 but maybe mk wld be a finalist or win cus my girl needs a win under her belt!!!

also following on from my last anon thingy, if he’s shaving u or anything he’d be such a perfectionist abt it like he’d js be like “wait there’s still spots here” and “hold still!” and he’d get so into it. also like if you ask him to check you got everything wherever your shaving he’d do a thorough check and then take the razor and get the spots because he has longer arms than you. also when u and him first get together and u make him do skincare with you he’s like “ugh skincare” and then like after a while he’s like “when are we doing skincare” and follow you around like a puppy asking about it. that and he’d be like “ooh can we do this face mask” and he’d put lotion on your face and everything and massage it into ur skin and he’d get so sassy with it like “no you’re not doing it right” and proceed to show u how to do it (despite you having done it for ages) and you’d have like playful quarrels over it and then one of you would make some immature joke and js giggle like immature teens after

LOL the idea of him being so focused and invested in the task of helping you shave is the most adorable thing ever omg. he's talking all soft and his face is all concentrated and it's just so <3333 you're making heart eyes at him and he doesn't even notice until he'd done and you start kissing him lmao

i'm a big believer that, when sam gets the time or chance, he finds personal hygiene to be very important! it's one of the very few things he has control over and yk his thing about being clean/pure hehe we won't get into how that makes me feel though!! (screaming and clawing at my walls. my poor boy). he doesn't have the time or energy for a long or complicated skin or hair routine, but he does like to do it!

so when he gets to do it with you, he's so into it!! it's so soft and domestic to do that sort of thing together. some of his favorite moments with you will always be getting a long night to go through a full shower, hair, and skin care routine together! it's soft and quiet and normal and with you. him correcting you about it even when you're the one who taught him more skincare stuff is sooo so cute and silly and i love it sm heh <33 it all just gives both of you the chance to let go and be silly and soft. giggling together, bumping hips and elbows in the small space of the bathroom, making stupid jokes, and falling asleep feeling refreshed and clean and loved <3

okay so i have nth to say about Catch Me Baby, I'm Tee, Me Too (the often-mistaken-for-a-bl show with gun? and football boys on a lawn on the poster..? that's it, that's all i know lol), Midnight Motel, The Miracle of Teddy Bear (didn't watch cause of spoilers and refuse to watch it but i've heard it's good), The Warp Effect (i feel like i know a lot and almost nothing at the same time, i wanted to watch it, thought it was a standard straight romance and tumblr wouldn't mind me skipping it and then i proceeded to get bombarded with content for 12 weeks straight)

Choco Milk Shake - trying to keep this spoiler free, i'd say watch it for milk. that's my baby boy, he is sass, he is class and he will bring the common sense to the table; also his and choco's actor really nailed the animal mannerisms. the show is quick to binge, emotional if you let it get to you but with a certain light air to it; i'd either binge it in a melancholic mood, ready to take it all in, or while very energised so it's easier to go through it (it's not that heavy imo but i also decided to ignore the gravity of the situation so uh unreliable narrator lol); also good to watch an ep or two per day as a "btw" snack, you'll finish it before you know it

Dirty Laundry - ahhh, this one. i recommend it all the time but it's not for everyone. i think it is for you though lmao, def your type of thing; it really had me laughing at times (although i seemed to be the only one bothered with certain jokes) and although it goes into social commentary near the end, it's really SUCH a light watch; you're gonna love the pond scenes and you're deefinitely gonna love nanon as night, he nailed this role; another short binge imo, watch when feeling either very happy or very sad - whenever you need a laugh and are ready for absurdity and naked pond

Even Sun - iii wouldn't bother. i really wouldn't, i just remembered actually attempting watching it after reading some not-that-good comments on mdl back when the first ep aired and omg was it boring, i couldn't finish it. then more episodes came out and everyone's suspicions were confirmed - just a show to fill in the time before between us was released; the plot seems boring, the couple moments not really special (and considering we know what bounprem can do, that's a pity); haven't watched it though so you can very easily ignore this, plus i'm sure you'd find a lot of fun in orange haired prem being an unsuccessful debt collector (i can already imagine the posts lol); if you watch - do it when stacked with patience and are utterly bored (and also missing the boys)

Mama Gogo - aaaaaa that's my girll, that's my baby! okay, i always like defending straight shows and recommending them to innocent ql watchers - this one is my top defendee <3 yes, mama gogo is full of men, yes, they're quite naked a lot of the time but they're just not that attractive to me so i was never in for the exposure, therefore i feel qualified to talk about it lol; the cast is so much fun when you know the gmm gang, idk what classifies as found family but to me this is itt; earth? insane character, he's so annoying and dumb, he'd be a himbo if he were nicer and that's all you need to know, you'll love him. speaking of which omg this is THE HIMBO SHOW🌟i feel the silliness is gonna do you sm good <3 i had my issues with some plot decisions and the way the ending was handled, however i think you're gonna find immense warmth between these characters and there are sooo many fun moments, the serious parts are definitely there, it's a jojo show duh, but it feels well-balanced; watch it when you want smth light and fun and preferably when no one's around heh, they do be naked and grinding each episode

Old Fashion Cupcake - now this one you gotta binge i think, it's just short and well-paced enough; if you want to relate to our main at least you gotta be a bit horny while watching 🤷‍♀️ my man is so intense, it's wild <33 jk though, the mood is ''i want to see the beauty in life and feel the intensity of passionate longing'' kinda :) ah, and also hungry. you're gonna want to have smth sweet on stand-by, those pancakes don't fuck around, you're gonna crave some as much as togiwa ..anyways; everyone loves it and there's a lot of meta and analyses out there, it's a deeper show with a simple execution and great acting, the kind only japan can put out, but i personally am here for the good vibes 🥰 also read the manga if you want, it's short even with the second part that wasn't adapted (and nsfw cause yaoi so if that's your thing, give it a go; aside from cutting those scenes out though, the show's a pretty faithful adaptation iirc, i read it before the final eps dropped lol)

Our Skyy - haven't even watched most of it lol, i got into it because of pick and rome (you're gonna love the growth, get on with it) and had to handle the silliness of their ep premise; later watched the my tee special (stressed me out a bit but all in all sweet <3) and i'm lying to myself that i've seen the petekao one but i'm honestly not sure; def didn't see the insun and arthitkongpob episodes though, checked just in case :) easy to take in seperately, even if you've seen all parent stories, i feel that binging won't let you take it all in properly so i wouldn't rec but if you're one for whiplashes, enjoy! the mood is not serious serious i think but it's not the liightest, just go with your gut on these

Senior Secret Puppy Love 2 - oh jeez, this one i didn't watch but to be fair i don't remember watching the first season properly either; here, though, i skipped like craaazy, was present exclusively for pick and rome because there was a complex situation i had been spoiled about between the mains and i was not about to waste time on them; sing's character also appears again and he has a more prominent role so you might benefit from that; honestly i remember pick and rome scenes but i mosttly associate them with their our skyy episode so if you want to watch that i rec watching their scenes in this as well, just abuse the shit out of that skipping and speeding <3; mood to watch in is: patient and ready for offgunsing shenanigans as the reward (i personally for impatient-and-reads-spoilers reasons literally watched this by skipping between episodes, to the end, to the front, it was a mess but i stil remember a bunchh of their plot so i'd say it's worth it if you like those two)

Together With Me: The Next Chapter - dear goodness, this one's a doozy.. let's start with the fact i didn't watch it lmaoo honestly i skipped back and forth through kornknock scenes and ended up watching more than i was planning to.. i'm guessing you've heard the criticism on this season and so did i which is why i didn't let myself get too invested; i'm especially happy i didn't watch it all cause whatever the side couples were going through was equally as stressful; love that maxtul chemistry though, can't beat it <3 tbf i was skipping through that specific side couple in season one as well.. i am guessing i watched these when i used to read the mdl comments a lot so i've stopped myself from watching the full stuff when things seemed like they'd be too much for me; anyways, mood - vindictive (idk what that is really either, it just popped into my head ?? ); i won't rec not watching it all, i think it might be good to have the whole perspective, idk? the mood is drama drama and more drama, you gotta be ready for that spicy human conflict that gets you throwing popcorn at the screen, there's evil, there's complexity, there's just a lot of upsetting shit and you gotta be at least a bit prepared

War of Y - fully started writing bout Y-Destiny hahah, i had a few reasons i didn't get past the first episode of War of Y but genuinely one thing that stopped me multiple times was the lack of subtitles for the texts - if you find threads with translations or the version i heard was out there with subs? you're good to go. i think it's a heavy watch honestly and as far as i can tell it's revealing of things we might not want to confront about the industry; i think the different couples could give variety and hopefully that's enough cause 20 episodes is a lot for a show to sustain; some great actors on there, some interesting plotlines, honestly would be looking for a review from you on this one haha

Iwaizumi Hajime

1. Planetarium ---- I would love to go to a planetarium with Hajime and look at the planets and stars with him (we'd probably both argue on whether or not Pluto is a planet lol). I'd end the date by telling him that "he's my world" to which he would then roll his eyes at me (but in a loving manner OFC)

2. Rock Climbing ---- it just feels so right to say that we would go rock climbing together. Granted I'm not that great at it, but Hajime definitely would be. We would BOTH be competitive and challenge each other on who would get to the top first. I always lose. BUT THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE'RE BOTH HAVING FUN!

3. Late night drives ---- like REALLY late at night when there's no cars. I have a hard time falling asleep early, so Hajime would suggest going on these drives and it just...becomes our thing. He's the designated driver and im the designated aux person. We'd softly sing along to the songs until it just Hajime singing. Because I fell asleep.

4. He loves how goofy I am. Though he'll never admit it. But compared to his brash/harsh exterior (he's a softie on the inside) my silly personality would probably feel like a breath of fresh air. All my jokes are dumb but he'd still laugh at them.....I think he'd have the prettiest laugh

Akaashi Keiji

1. Musicals ---- something tells me that he'd appreciate musicals just as much as I do. After watching one, we'd talk about our favorite parts and listen to the soundtrack together for weeks! We'd also collect the playbills and keep them framed

2. Botanical Garden ---- he's very detail oriented so I think before we'd even go, he would look up all the meanings of the flowers. And as we're walking through the garden he'd tell me about each flower/plant, while I stare at him in wonder and amazement bc I think he's an actual genius

3. Bookstore ---- we'd both frequent the bookstore and there's a routine. It starts off with us walking in together and immediately separating (we both like different genres), once we find our books of choice we both meet at the table in the back, and then we proceed to read in the comfortable silence. I feel like with keiji, I don't need to talk when I'm with him....like just his presence is enough

4. What he'd love most about me is how easy-going I am. He's able to relax and be completely at ease. He'll like how friendly I am and how I'm able to be friends with his friends too (he was worried that we wouldn't get along). He's able to talk about anything with me and I'm able to give back that same energy.

Miya Atsumu

1. Beach ---- when he's not playing pro-vball, we'd go to different beaches and rate them (based on saind, water, and vibes~). We'd apply sunscreen for each other because skincare is important!! I think something else we'd both do is people-watch and just make up silly stories for each person we see. Atsumu would probably throw me in the water and I'd try to chase him bc he made me lose my glasses in the process. Keyword: try. Because now im BLIND

2. Aquarium ---- I think we'd take those cute dates to the Aquarium except it's not as cute as others would think. Atsumu would point to a blobfish and tell me that I looked like it....and the rest of the date is just us pointing to ugly fish and saying that it looks like the other person.

3. Diner ---- our go-to spot would be the classic diner down the block. We'd go there to eat breakfast sometimes or late at night for milkshakes. I just think it's a cute meet up spot for the two of us. And we'd always tip well too.

4. Atsumu would love how spontaneous I am. We'd have similar energies and I feel like we're both a little impulsive. I'm always down for his crazy ideas and im able to be flexible with his work schedule. The two of us against the world is literally chaos LOL

85. “STOP INTERRUPTING ME!” & 83. “Enough with the sass!”

I will carry youThe night was almost over, the solace of the dawn reaching for them as they slowly made their way through the wintery city. It had all felt like a fevery dream, every moment fleeting, something you could barely even begin to grasp before it was gone. Magnus tried to remember everything that had happened, everything that had led him to this point - his fight with Lorenzo, meeting his father and losing his magic. It had all happened so fast that he hadn’t even really realized it all.

He could feel Alec leaning onto him more fully now, his strength leaving him with every heavy beat of his heart, fighting to keep him alive. More than anything, in that moment Magnus wished he still had his magic, his powers so he might save him or at least create a portal and get him to safety faster.

The sun was already rising, the fresh morning painting the city with its frail colors, melting the frosts of the night. He glanced at Alec then, not an ounce of color left  in his pale features, his eyes darker than Magnus remembered them being. He stopped walking to adjust his grip on him, his jacket already covered in his blood.

“Alec, stay with me”, he whispered, nudging him a little, causing Alec to smile faintly at him, as if there was something to smile about.

“I’m fine”

“You were stabbed, you’re not fine”, Magnus said with a roll of his eyes, tightening his grip on Alec’s arm, holding him closer.

“Yeah, yeah, are we far from the institute?”, he asked then, his voice a little slurry and his eyes drooping. Magnus glanced at the arrow still sticking from his chest, now riddled with awful memories.

Will one of my arrowheads end up in that box?

Magnus shook his head, chasing the thought away. He supposed that question had been answered now - he would never want to remember Alec by his arrows, not now that he had been stabbed with one.

“Just a couple blocks, can you hold on that long?”

“Mmhmm”, Alec slurred, his eyes closed as Magnus began walking again. Magnus was strong, always had been, but this was testing every ounce of strength he had left in him, for all that he had lost, he wouldn’t survive losing his Alexander. He could give up his magic, the very core of his being, but not Alec. Never him.

He gave a silent prayer to anyone who might’ve been listening, to spare him. For if Magnus lost him now, what was there left for him then?

“Magnus, I have something I need to say, though, in case I don’t make it”

“Don’t talk like that”, Magnus exclaimed, turning to look at Alec with panic in his eyes.

“But just in case”, Alec insisted, angling his head so he might see him, “it’s important”

Magnus sighed then, leaning a little closer so Alec might whisper into his ear.

“You look really hot in that coat”, he said, more loudly than necessary for any regular conversation, causing Magnus to huff in mild disbelief at his words, all worry gone for the time being.

“Alright, enough with the sass until we fix you up”

“I wasn’t being sassy! It’s true what I said”

“Alright, but if you die here, I’m going to repeat those words at your funeral so maybe don’t speak until you’re better”

“Fine”

Magnus rolled his eyes at him, though he couldn’t help the incessant smile tugging at his lips, or the fluttering in his heart. He really did love his angel, didn’t he, even in silly moments like this. So he simply fixed his grip on him, and carried on, feeling much lighter than before, wondering if that had been Alec’s purpose all along.

The cold winds were playing with the small fire that sat in the large fireplace, decorated with rose vines, creeping up and down its stony exterior like the light coming from the small windows, dotting the grey walls with its life. He turned to look back at Alec then, his small, but steady breaths the most wonderful sound to him then, for they let him know he was alright. He was going to be alright.

The arrow was now lying on the table next to him, discarded there in haste as the doctors had rushed around Alec, pushing Magnus aside with feeble words of encouragement. But it was only then, as he saw Alec alive and breathing, that made him feel better. If he was alright, his sacrifice had been worth it.

He could feel Alec stirring, waking up and his hold on his hand tightened as he perked up, eager to see his angel awake.

“Magnus?”, Alec asked, his voice small and weak, but Magnus heard him all the same.

“I’m here, Alec, I’m here”, Magnus reassured, hovering over Alec as if his very presence was enough to keep him from any future harm.

“Good”

He opened his eyes then, focusing his attention solely on Magnus, a gentle smile tugging at his lips as he studied his face. To Magnus, that smile was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen and he was sure Alec had never smiled so beautifully before.

Alec sat up slowly as Magnus supported him, fixing his pillow and holding his hand, as if he was ever going to be able to let go. He had almost seen his greatest love die, so he wasn’t going to leave him for a long time. He knew he couldn’t even if he wanted to.

“You okay?”, he asked quietly, Alec only rolling his eyes at his concern.

“Magnus, I’m fine”

“You died! Your heart stopped beating!”

“Almost died”, Alec corrected with a pointed look, earning an exasperated sigh from Magnus.

“Glad to know your humor is as terrible as always”

“You wound me, Magnus”, Alec said, feigning hurt as he adjusted his position. Magnus only sighing as he sat back down on the chair beside his bed.

Alec turned to properly look at him then, his eyes stern and unreachable as he studied him.

“What did you say about your magic being gone?”

Magnus couldn’t claim to be surprised that Alec remembered that, but he hadn’t really thought of how to break it down for him, and not make him all the more worried.

“Asmodeus wanted it in exchange for helping me”, he said simply, not daring to meet Alec’s eyes, “I knew this when I left - he always requires a sacrifice”

“But your magic? Was there nothing else you could’ve given?”, Alec worried, sitting up more straight as he took Magnus’ hands in his.

“He did ask me to rule with him, but that would’ve meant giving up everything”, he explained, finally meeting Alec’s gaze. “And I couldn’t bear to lose you”

Alec stayed silent then, unsure how to continue or simply surprised that Magnus would rather give up his magic than not be with him. So Magnus stayed quiet too, not telling him how easy the choice had been.

“So you just, what, gave up it up? Without a fight? Magnus, you’re a warlock - your magic is a big part of you and you just-”

“Alec, it isn’t like that!”, Magnus interrupted, his mouth opening and closing as he searched for the right words.

“Don’t interrupt me!”, Alec said then, his voice rising as he turned to fully face him, wincing a little in pain at the sudden movement. “You did all that just for me?”

“What do you mean just for you? I-”

“Stop interrupting me!”, Alec shouted then, his hand on his heart to stop the wound from opening up. Magnus only closed his mouth then, not wanting to fight.

“You should’ve stood up to him, fought him or something! You can’t just give up such an integral part of you, after all you’ve already sacrificed, just to save me and Jace”

“I didn’t do it just for you, I did for everyone. I needed to free Jace, so we might have a chance at stopping Lilith and had I not, you- you would’ve died Alec”, he said, his voice getting quieter and quieter.

“I know that, but I just- I don’t want you to resent me because of this”, Alec said, his eyes dropping to look at his hands, clasped on his lap, instead of Magnus.

“Resent you? This isn’t your fault, Alec”

“But it is”, he said, worrying the inside of his cheek before continuing, “I shouldn’t have let you go”

“We didn’t have a choice”, Magnus reassured, raising his hand to hold Alec’s, smiling softly at his concern, “and we’ll get through this, like we always do”

“Okay”, he whispered, finally meeting Magnus’ eyes, “but I’m going to train you”

“What? Why?”, Magnus chuckled, his brows furrowing in surprise.

“So you’re not totally helpless”, Alec said very matter-of-factly, as if it was obvious that he needed to train Magnus now that he no longer had his magic.

“Fine, you can train me”

“Good”, Alec said with a firm nod, and Magnus couldn’t help but lean in and press a small kiss on his forehead, ruffling his dark hair as well.

Entry 331

 Barely graduated, I was flown to Earth and forced to spend two whole weeks studying English and customs of this world before my parents would let me meet their friends and see their home.  The island was pleasant, of course—my parents weren’t out to torture me—but there was so much more to see!  Other than the world of my people, I rarely had spent two whole weeks on a single planet in the past six years and typically saw far more of each in that time

 When we finally left the island, I couldn’t restrain from giggling at the local transportation.  The airplanes were ponderous things that could’ve been made by teams of children back home.  I knew this planet would be lacking in basic technology, but…  this was so silly, knowing the fleets my parents owned.

 I was amazed at the simple boxiness of most buildings we passed, making me wonder if most humans simply lacked any design sense.  Of course, there were so many missing materials in this world…  My parents had drilled a list of things I couldn’t talk about into me even more than the language I’d be speaking at home.  I didn’t bother asking them “Why!?” much, knowing there would be some overly complicated plan that probably stretched several lifetimes for most species I knew.  My parents weren’t normal.

 “Is that really the house?” I exclaimed, finally seeing the building in person.  I knew what and whom I’d find inside already from the lessons, but seeing this in person was fantastic.  When Mom nodded, I said, “It’s huge!”  Sure, we passed larger buildings on the way here, but this one was my home now.  Plus, my home actually had some style, despite being blocky.  The fountain in the front was beautiful, and the hedges were exquisitely sculpted.

“Your father and I will be occupying the second and third floor of the center part.  We’re letting you have your way with my old wing in the West.” reminded Mom as she pointed to the West Wing.

 “And the first floor is for everyone, right?” I verified.

 “Sure is.” stated Daddy with a smile.

 My parents were unbelievably quick, but they drew out acting normal exhaustingly.  I was already bouncing at the front doors before they were out of the car.  Glancing up, I noticed the the ceiling was gorgeous.

 “Z-, er… Daddy, what’s with all these umm…” I started, struggling to find the word after accidentally starting off in the wrong language.

 “Engravings.  They’re telling a story about a wonderful woman.” he replied as he finally caught up.

 “Who are you?” asked a girl inside as she jogged up to me.  She had brightly-dyed hair—humans don’t have such a range of hair colors—and a beautiful face with large, deep blue eyes that seemed to sparkle as she looked at me.

 “You must be Emma!” I exclaimed, ignoring the whisper from behind me for now.  I ran up, hugged her, and kissed her, enjoying the strange taste on them.  “I’ve heard so much about you!”

 Her face turned red, and her smile made her even more beautiful.  “Good things?” she asked, seeming bashful.  She was surprised, but I felt a longing I knew in her.

 “Emma, Raine… meet Dani.” stated Daddy.

 I turned to find Raine next to me.  “You’re the fluffy one!” I exclaimed, admiring the voluminous hair beneath her adorable, eared hood.  I hugged her and kissed her forehead.  Then I pushed back the hood and gently petted her hair.

 “Y-You… sm-smell good.” she mumbled in reply, shaking slightly under my touch.  She was nervous, but not so much to be really disturbing.  She almost seemed to vibrate to my senses, as if her feelings were an ever-changing flood.  There was something else in there too, walled away where I couldn’t quite sense it.

 “Guys, James and Alma are back, and they brought someone new!” exclaimed a much taller girl with dark reddish-orange hair.  Brenna!

 “Sooo fluffy!” I told Raine, continuing to play with her hair.  The softness was amazing, and she had relaxed somewhat.  There were places in my home galaxy where people would pay fortunes for such exquisite hair, using it in all manner of things.

 Following Brenna out of what should be the ballroom were Portentia, Maxine, and Cosette.  They were all so easy to recognize.  I had seen their pictures, but the pictures really didn’t do them justice.  Portentia’s skin and lips were almost perfectly white.  Her eyes were such a pale blue that they almost seemed white at this distance.  Maxine’s eyes were covered, but her curly hair in light brown shades was unmistakable.  Mom had told me that the curls were natural!  Cosette wasn’t human, though I couldn’t tell from just looking.  Her hair was darker brown and far more elegant.  Her eyes, nearly as dark as Emma’s, were studying me.

 “Dani, don’t upset Raine.” warned Mom.

 “Sorry, Mom.  I’m just excited!” I admitted, reluctantly letting Raine go.  I wanted to tilt up her chin and kiss her properly, but my parents strictly forbade me from kissing Raine, warning me that something dangerous could happen.  “Raine’s hair is spectacular.”  Turning to Emma, I quickly told her “Of course, so is yours, Emma!”

 As I moved to greet the others, Daddy grabbed me, easily holding me back with one hand.  “Everyone, this is Dani Lyshaa Somerset.  Alma and I adopted her while we were away.” he announced.

 “Adopted!?  Isn’t she around our age?” asked a blond-haired boy with lovely green eyes.  Jarod… I could talk with him about some basic technology.  The girls on his arms, with their wavy black hair and golden brown eyes, were obviously Ai and Mai.  There was a slight difference in eye color between them when compared in photographs, but I couldn’t tell from this angle.

 Unfortunately, Daddy hadn’t let me go yet.  Still addressing everyone, he said, “Yes, but adopting her was the easiest way to get her into the country.  Aaliyah assured me that all of the paperwork has been pushed through already, so she’s officially our child.  Please help her as she acclimates to things around here and tell me if she gets into too much trouble.”

 “Can I be there when you tell your parents?” asked Cosette with a playful smile.  She seemed fun!  What were the lips of a… a…  The word eluded me, but I knew she fed on blood.  Her full lips demanded kisses.

 “They’ll be here this evening, so any of you who aren’t working might be around.” replied Daddy.  “One last announcement that my parents will soon be privy to as well…” he started, stopping dramatically to look at Mom.

 “James, really… I thought we’d tell your parents first.” she stated, shaking her head and rolling her eyes.  Then she sighed and said, “Fine.  I suppose they might as well find out first.  I’m pregnant.”

 Despite knowing about Mom’s pregnancy, I couldn’t help feeling the shock and excitement as well, joining in on the applause.  There was so much happiness around me that I already loved this place.

 Dani Lyshaa Somerset had the most unique scent I had encountered up until now.   With vibrant, dark blue hair and pale pink hair, she obviously wasn’t human, but she wasn’t any other species I knew.  Her organs weren’t even in quite the same places.  I shuddered as part of my brain considered how I knew.

 Pushing those thoughts waaaaaay back in my mind, I continued watching as she excitedly asked if Maxine was “the criminal”, hugging her without a care.  When Portentia tried to warn her to be careful, she pulled Portentia into the hug as well.  There was an almost contagious excitement about Dani, and she bounced around as if that excitement was trying to burst out of her body, keeping her from staying still.

 The way she looked at each of us, even me, was almost predatory, like she wanted to passionately jump us.  Then she’d look at James and Alma with such innocent adoration that scenarios built up in my mind, comparing to be sure this was the same person in all instances.

 I felt drawn to her and was tempted to warn the others why.  Dani was emitting extremely potent pheromones, less potent ones wouldn’t be affecting me.  I could purge them from myself, but…  the feeling was somewhat pleasant.  If biologists knew of this, they’d certainly want to study her.  James definitely knew she’d need protection, but…  Adoption?

 Dani looked like a teenager, but I couldn't be certain if she actually was one or not.  The fey looked anywhere from child-like to barely-an-adult, and they were at least a couple thousand years old.  Quietly dismissing the thoughts of wanting her to come back to pet my hair some more, I mentally accepted the quest to help protect her.

 “Lady Pendreigh…” started—I quickly compared the the twins and returned to where I was—Mai.

 “Girls, just call me Alma.  I’m married.  Let’s drop titles and formalities while at home.” insisted the-one-who-looked-like-Alma-but-couldn’t-be.

 I examined her completely without finding a single discrepancy between the Alma I knew and this one, ignoring how advanced the fetus was inside her.  Two weeks?  Was this from her being part fey?  Maybe from the Slayer heritage?  I considered asking the Princess as scenarios split off from the original task to consider the pros and cons of sitting through one of the Princess’ explanations.  Shoving thoughts of how I knew what I did of Alma’s insides right next to the other unfortunate information in the back of my mind, I went back to where I was, trusting that James knew his wife well enough to recognize if an imposter had replaced her.  I certainly was at a loss.  Watching Ai and Mai’s expressions gradually form on their faces, the wide-eyed glancing showed them to be completely surprised as well.

 “A-Alma…” stuttered Ai.

 Watching Dani, Mai continued saying, “Not to be rude, but…”

 “What’s with my skin?” questioned Dani, looking ready to pounce them in excitement.

 “And hair.” stated the twins in unison.

 “All natural!” exclaimed Dani proudly as she bounded over to the twins.  “Be jam.”

 “Jelly.” corrected James.

 “Jealous” insisted Alma just as James spoke.

 Dani barely nodded to her parents before holding out a hand to each twin and saying, “Pleased to meet you all.  Mom told me not to kiss you because you’re married.”

 I was ready to snatch her a way if she leaned even a millimeter closer to Jarod, quite certain that she was tempted to kiss him as she stood almost on top of him.  Jarod backed behind his wives, looking comically like he wanted his wives to protect him.  Ai and Mai seemed to feel the same way, shifting slightly closer together.  When Dani offered him a hand, he reached between his wives to shake it.

 “I actually warned you against kissing people at random, since many will find it confusing and even disturbing.” corrected Alma, though she sounded amused.

 Dani looked at her with wide, pleading eyes as she said, “But they’re all so pretty…”

 “Behave.” chided James, sounding as if he had told her this a thousand times.  Striding toward the ballroom, he said, “Let’s get you set for playing that game I’ve been telling you about before my parents arrive.”

 “Yes!” exclaimed Dani, excitedly hugging his arm and following him.

 There were so many dead end scenarios in my head that I gave up trying to understand what had happened in the past two weeks.  Alma seemed to be an upgraded model.  I would watch and see if that was true.  Dani…  Thousands of questions were shooting through my brain about her.  Alma was staring after Dani and James with such love that I had to fight a spark of jealousy, obliterating the naughty feeling.  My own mom had never looked at me like that.
