this is an excellent addition that should not be left in the tags
this extremely heartwrenching angst silver is going through in which he decides that he's an enemy to the people who love him and that the best thing he can do is to forever stay alone in the darkness so he won't have to face them anymore since obviously they must hate him is causing me so much emotional distress and i guess i deserve it for having made this edit and joking about these two being twins way back when i first got into twst
#no because i didn't even think about the dream powers and the bat motif connection#that's brilliant actually#there's also the fact that riku was manipulated and used by maleficent while silver was loved and cared for by malleus#and also riku's first keyblade being way to the dawn as a symbol of him choosing the middle road between the light and the darkness#while silver is like... a bridge between human and fae but also a bridge between light and dark in some ways#a human originally blessed by fairies of the day to have hair as gold as sunlight#who was adopted by a fae of the night and blessed to have hair as silver as the moon#a kind and noble light magic user attending a school represented by dark magic and villainy#and of course. his birth father is the knight of *dawn*.#sorry for adding EVEN MORE things in the tags that are probably kinda silly anyway#but like if you ever do actually make a powerpoint i would love to see it#i literally made this edit over 6 months ago as a joke without having any idea they'd have all these similarities 😭#twisted wonderland#kingdom hearts#twst spoilers#twisted wonderland spoilers

Hi hi! I wasn't sure if your requests are open but i loved your Riku x reader one and I wish to request a Riku x reader if that's okay. Reader is like a lost keyblade wielder stuck in the darklands with aqua and is from Destiny Island. Reader and Mickey were adventuring together one time and they got separated resulting her meeting aqua in the darklands. Riku saves reader and maybe something before the Keyblade war, they share a paopu fruit and kiss, (like when Kairi gave Sora a paipu fruit except its Riku and Reader)
YES! OML, THIS IS SO CUTE!!!! If you haven't gotten to know who we are don't be shy here is our "༺☆༻ Introduction ༺☆༻"

Riku x Fem!Reader ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
The Darklands stretched endlessly before you, an inky expanse of shadows that swallowed the light. As you wandered deeper into this desolate realm, the oppressive atmosphere pressed against your chest, each breath a reminder of how far you had strayed from the warmth of home. Every step echoed with the sounds of your solitude, the once vibrant laughter from Destiny Islands fading into distant memory.
You had ventured into this shadowy abyss alongside King Mickey during one of his missions, your hearts united in the fight against the encroaching darkness. But the chaos of battle had torn you apart, leaving you lost and adrift, far from the familiar shores of your childhood.
With a heavy heart, you navigated the twisted pathways, the darkness swirling around you like a living entity. You felt small and vulnerable, each rustle of the shadows setting your nerves on edge. Just when the weight of despair began to settle too heavily on your shoulders, a familiar silhouette broke through the gloom.
Riku emerged from the shadows, a beacon of light cutting through the darkness. His silver hair glimmered like moonlight, reflecting the faint glow of the few scattered stars that peeked through the dark clouds. When your eyes met, relief surged through you, igniting a warmth that chased away the cold grip of fear.
“Riku!” You called out, your voice breaking the silence as you rushed toward him. Relief washed over you like a tidal wave, and before you could stop yourself, you threw your arms around him, feeling the solid warmth of his body beneath your fingers.
“Y/N,” he said, his voice steady and soothing. As you pulled back to look at him, the seriousness in his gaze softened, replaced by a smile that made your heart flutter. “I was worried about you.”
“I was scared,” you admitted, your voice trembling slightly. “I thought I’d be stuck here forever.”
“I’d never let that happen.” The conviction in his voice was a balm to your soul. “I’ll always find you.”
“How do you always know exactly what I need?” Riku asked, tilting his head slightly, a thoughtful expression crossing his features.
You chuckled softly, feeling the tension of the past few days begin to melt away. “I pay attention,” you replied, heartened by the connection that felt so effortless between you two. “You’re not as hard to read as you think.”
“Can you let me see your eyes?” he asked suddenly, his expression earnest and searching. You felt a blush creeping up your cheeks, but there was a comfort in his request, a reminder that vulnerability was a strength when shared with the right person.
“Of course,” you replied, brushing your hair back from your face, your heart racing under his intense gaze. You could see the myriad of emotions swirling in his eyes—relief, worry, determination—and you felt a magnetic pull toward him, as if the darkness surrounding you faded away in the light of his presence.
He stepped closer, and the shadows around you seemed to retreat as you stood face to face. “I’m glad you’re okay,” he said softly, his relief evident. “I didn’t want to lose you.”
With the weight of his words settling in your heart, you whispered, “I didn’t realize how much I needed you until now.” The admission felt like a release, a truth that had been buried beneath layers of fear and uncertainty.
Riku’s gaze turned serious as he reached into his pocket, producing a paopu fruit, its vibrant colors almost luminescent against the dark backdrop. You recognized the symbolism immediately—the fruit was a promise, a symbol of connection and shared fate.
“I thought we could share this,” he said, offering it to you with a soft smile. “You know what it represents.”
The sight of the fruit brought back memories of laughter and joy from Destiny Islands, moments shared with Riku, Sora, and Kairi. You took the paopu fruit from his hands, your fingers brushing against his, sending a thrill through you. “Just like Sora and Kairi,” you murmured, feeling the weight of what it symbolized settle in your chest.
“Exactly,” Riku replied, his eyes never leaving yours. “No matter what happens, we’re connected. I won’t let anything pull us apart.”
With a shared smile, you took a bite of the fruit, its sweetness bursting on your tongue, filling you with warmth and hope. Riku followed suit, and in that moment, the darkness around you seemed to lift, if only for a heartbeat.
Time slowed as you leaned in, the distance between you evaporating like the darkness around you. Your lips met in a gentle kiss, tentative at first, but it deepened, filled with the sweetness of the fruit and the unspoken promise of your connection. It felt like a world reborn in that single moment, the shadows dissipating as light surged within you.
When you finally pulled away, breathless and wide-eyed, Riku’s expression mirrored your own surprise and wonder. “Y/N…” he began, but the words faltered, lost in the depth of your shared moment.
“Let’s escape this place together,” you urged, your heart racing with newfound determination. “We’ll find a way back to the light, back to the Islands.”
Riku nodded, resolve hardening in his eyes. “Together, always,” he echoed, and you could feel the strength of his promise resonating in your bones.
As you turned to face the path ahead, fingers intertwined, the darkness began to recede, revealing a breathtaking view. The once oppressive shadows transformed into gentle hues of blue and green, the scent of saltwater filling the air as you neared the shoreline. The familiar sounds of waves crashing against the shore beckoned you home.
“Look!” Riku said, excitement bubbling in his voice as he pointed toward the horizon. “There it is!”
Your heart raced at the sight, the outline of Destiny Islands rising majestically before you. You could almost feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, hear the distant laughter of friends, the promise of safety and comfort. The palm trees swayed gently in the breeze, their leaves rustling like whispers of joy.
“Let’s go!” you urged, a burst of energy propelling you forward. You sprinted toward the water’s edge, laughter escaping your lips as you glanced back at Riku, who was quickly catching up.
“Remember those races on the beach?” you teased, a playful smile gracing your face. “I always won!”
Riku chuckled, the sound bright and infectious. “You were fast, but I had my tricks,” he retorted, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “I could always find a shortcut.”
“Shortcut, huh?” you replied, nudging him with your shoulder as you reached the shoreline. The waves lapped gently at your feet, the cool water sending shivers up your spine. “I’ll have to keep an eye on you next time.”
As you both reached the water’s edge, you paused for a moment, letting the familiar sensations wash over you—the warmth of the sun, the gentle breeze rustling through your hair, and the distant call of seagulls above. It felt surreal, the weight of the Darklands slowly lifting as you stood together.
“This feels right,” you said, looking up at Riku, who stood beside you, his expression softening as he took in the view. “Like we’re finally home.”
Riku turned to you, a deep warmth in his gaze. “We are home, together,” he replied, his voice low and filled with emotion.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the ocean, you both stood side by side, fingers still intertwined. In that moment, the world felt right, the shadows of the past fading away as hope blossomed in your hearts.
You watched as the sky transitioned from brilliant gold to deep indigo, stars beginning to twinkle in the vast expanse above. “Look,” you said, pointing up at the sky. “It’s like they’re guiding us home.”
Riku followed your gaze, a soft smile crossing his lips. “Each star is a promise, a reminder of those we care about,” he mused, his voice barely above a whisper. “Sora, Kairi, even the ones we’ve lost along the way. They’re all with us.”
The thought stirred something deep within you, a bittersweet ache mixed with gratitude. “They would be proud of us,” you said, feeling the warmth of Riku’s hand enveloping yours tighter. “We fought for our friends, for each other.”
Riku’s gaze turned serious as he faced you, the determination in his eyes unmistakable. “I promise to protect you, Y/N. No matter what darkness comes our way, I won’t let anything tear us apart again.”
Your heart swelled at his words, the sincerity etched on his face a balm to your soul. “And I promise to stand by you, Riku,” you replied, squeezing his hand. “Together, we’ll face whatever challenges lie ahead.”
As the stars above continued to twinkle like diamonds, the tide began to rise, washing over your feet. The cool water enveloped you in a comforting embrace, mirroring the warmth that bloomed in your chest. You stepped deeper into the surf, feeling liberated, like a weight had been lifted from your shoulders.
The rhythmic crashing of the waves became a melody that resonated within you, filling the space between your hearts with harmony. It was a promise of adventure, of friendship, of love that would endure the trials ahead.
“Come on!” you called, laughing as you splashed water playfully in Riku’s direction. “Let’s celebrate!”
“Hey!” he exclaimed, laughter spilling from him as he dodged your playful attack. “You’re on!”
With that, the two of you raced along the shoreline, the warmth of the sand beneath your feet, the stars shining brightly above as you embraced the magic of the moment. The weight of darkness fell away with each joyful step, replaced by the promise of light and a future filled with hope.
As you and Riku continued to laugh and chase each other under the starry sky, you realized that, no matter the shadows that had once threatened to consume you, together you could face any darkness. And as the waves lapped gently at your feet, you knew that your hearts were forever intertwined, bound by the love and light you had found in each other.

I love this chapter!!! Enjoy!

Summary:
After King Riku is dethroned, Doflamingo takes you under his wing and asks you to follow only one strict rule, "do not leave the palace alone". However, your sense of adventure is too great.
Law had only one thing in mind... Revenge. And you seemed like the best way to do that.

Chapter 6
Chapter 7
As darkness blanketed the world, a renewed sense of purpose drove you. You packed what little you could carry: a few outfits, an extra pair of shoes, and your well-worn “Tales of Grand Adventures” book, safely tucked away in your bag.
You took one last look around your bedroom, then, with a deep breath, headed to the door. But as you opened it, there stood Viola.
You wished you could say you were surprised, but a part of you knew this would happen.
"I know what you're planning to do," she hissed, stepping towards you. "Are you insane?"
“Please, don’t try to stop me.” You tried to slip past her, but she blocked the doorway, her arm stretched firmly across the frame.
“What’s going to happen when Doflamingo comes back and finds out you’re gone?” she challenged, her eyes fierce. “Do you have any idea what you’re risking?”
You avoided her gaze, not wanting to think about the consequences. It was the only way you could go through with this plan.
When you remained silent, Viola continued, “Do you not understand the situation you're in? Do you not understand the danger that comes with going against Doflamingo? I can’t always protect you.”
Anger flared in your chest, and your fists clenched. You didn’t need protection; you were old enough to make your own choices. “Why do you even care? You’re always in my business. You try to act like a sister to me, but you’re not! You’re just a sad woman with no family of her own!” The words escaped before you could stop them, and regret washed over you instantly.
Viola’s expression hardened, and after a moment she stepped aside. “Do whatever you want,” she said coldly. “I won’t fight you anymore.”
“Viola…” Tears pricked your eyes as you watched her step into the shadows of the hallway.
She paused, glancing back with a trace of sadness. “I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.”
Her words stung but you deserved it. Viola was one of the few people in Doflamingo's circle you actually trusted. But you couldn’t let yourself think about that now. You took a steadying breath and moved past her. Law was waiting for you, and there was no turning back.
Her words hit deep, but you knew you’d earned her ire. Viola was one of the few people in Doflamingo’s circle you trusted, maybe the only one. And you just rebuked her goodwill. But you couldn’t let yourself dwell on that now. Taking a steadying breath, you moved past into the hallway moving in the opposite direction of the dark-haired woman. Youre leaving this place and Law was waiting, and there was no turning back.
OoOoOo
The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silver glow over the abandoned tower. Shadows danced among the cracked stones as you finally reached the top, your heart racing with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. Law stood there, silhouetted against the moonlight, waiting just as he’d promised.
“How’d you make it up here alone?” you asked, moving closer.
He smirked “I have my ways. So, you're taking my offer,” he said, glancing at the bag slung over your shoulder.
“I am.” You took a steadying breath. “I want to come with you.”
Law’s gaze sharpened, a glint of something unreadable flickering in his eyes. “Are you sure?”
“More than ever. I can’t stay hidden in Dressrosa forever.” Saying it aloud made you feel free, lighter even.
Law took a step closer, his face inches from yours, his expression intense. “Then let’s not waste any time.”
His tattooed hands lifted to frame your face, fingers gentle against your skin. You felt your heart stutter. Was he going to kiss you? You closed your eyes, waiting for his lips to meet yours. But the warmth never came.
“Room.”
Your eyes flew open, a faint blue shield forming around the top of the tower.
“Law… what are you doing?” Your voice trembled as you instinctively took a step back.
“Sorry,” he murmured, his tone disturbingly calm. “I needed you to trust me. I need to know what Doflamingo is planning.”
Realization hit you like a punch to the gut. “You never planned to take me with you.”
A flicker of regret crossed his face, but it vanished quickly. “I did what I had to. Too much is at stake to stop now,” he said quietly, his gaze hardening. “ Now stand still, and this won’t hurt.”
He moved closer, and you reacted instinctively. With a swift motion, you tipped your soil bracelets, spilling their contents as you raised your hand. Vines surged from the rooftop, forming a thick wall of ivy between you and him, bristling with sharp thorns.
He stopped, eyeing the wall with faint amusement. “Impressive.” With a quick toss of a coin, he called, “Shambles.”
A powerful tug wrenched at you, and suddenly your surroundings shifted. His blade was already coming down as you dove, rolling over the stony roof just in time to evade his strike. He closed the distance, sword flashing toward you, but a thick vine shot up to intercept, absorbing the blow. Drawing on every ounce of your strength, you unleashed an onslaught of thorny vines to drive him back.
He spun, deflecting your attacks, but they kept coming. One vine whipped around, catching his arm, he cursed as he stumbled back.
“I didn’t think you actually knew how to fight,” he said, slashing through the plants.
Anger flared in your chest. “You’re just some scumbag after the crown. And if you think you can use me to get it, you’re wrong!”
He took a step back, his voice soft, almost as if speaking to himself. “Believe what you want. But I will defeat Doflamigo.”
You were done listening. It was time to end this. “Opituna! Infest!” you shouted, and out of the scattered soil a massive cactus tree rose, growing limbs as sharp as razors.
“Is that all you’ve got?” he mocked, then he realized what you had done. The mountain of cacti moved as though it had legs and arms. It looked down at him with a faceless head and with its prickly arm swung now at him with a powerful blow.
Law’s eyes widened as he dodged, the cactus claw narrowly missing him. But his momentary distraction allowed you to bolt toward the blue shield. You beat against it, frustration mounting as the barrier held firm.
“Nice trick.” His voice was close behind. You turned to see him, breathing heavily. You were satisfied that his good-looking face was scratched and bloodied. With a renewed burst of energy, Law charged, swinging his sword.
You ducked, twisting your wrist to send another wave of roots surging toward his legs. He leapt over them, but his split-second shift in focus was all you needed. You called forth a burst of flowers, petals sharp and luminous, exploding into a shower of color that filled the air between you. He hesitated, momentarily blinded, and you seized the moment. You lunged, summoning thick vines to surge forward and ensnare him. They wrapped around his arms and legs, binding him and lifting him up.
“It’s over,” you said, voice shaking with both exhaustion and defiance.
But Law wasn’t finished. With a grunt, he sliced through the vines with a precise stroke freeing one hand. “Shambles.”
Your vision blurred as the familiar pull took you. In an instant, you found yourself ensnared in your own vines, suspended in midair.
“You were saying?” he asked, breathing heavily.
When you freed yourself Law surged forward, pressing his hand against your back. Pain exploded through your chest as a cube materialized, and you collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
What… just happened?
Footsteps neared, and Law knelt beside you, casually moving strands of hair from your face as he picked up the cube.
“W-what” you managed to voice.
“It’s your heart,” he said coolly, watching your horrified expression.
Weakly, you reached out, but he pulled the cube away. “I think I’ll hold onto it.”
“Fuck you!” you rasped out. “Give it back!”
He smirked, squeezing the cube lightly. The pain was immediate, sharp, and overwhelming.
“I’ll give it back—when you do something for me.” He tsked at your defiance. “Now, is Doflamingo on this island?”
“Go to hell!” you spat.
Another squeeze, and you screamed, pain burning your throat.
“Is he here on this island?” he repeated, tone icy.
This time, you weakly shook your head, relieved as the pain stopped.
Law nodded thoughtfully. “What does he want with Punk Hazard?”
“What…?”
He squeezed again, the agony quick and searing. “My crew tells me some of Doflamingo’s lackeys are sniffing around there. It’s been abandoned for years—why is he suddenly interested?”
“I don’t know,” you gasped. “He doesn’t tell me anything about his business.”
He studied you, brow furrowing. “Then why does he keep you around?”
“Is this interrogation over?” you managed to say viciously, eyes narrowing “If you don't mind I'd like to go.”
Law stood, releasing his shield with a flick of his hand. “You can go,” he said. “But this isn’t over. You’re going back to the palace and finding out what I need to know” He tucked your heart into his jacket pocket, smirking down at you. “I’ll hold onto this until you do. See ya ‘round Y/N”
With that, he turned and walked away as his room dematerialized, leaving you alone in the dark atop the tower, the weight of his betrayal pressing down on you like an anchor as you lost consciousness.

Some one just left some very nice tags in this post and it motivated me so I'm writing this instead of getting ready for Christmas dinner:
About Chrome in Twisted Wonderland, I think it's fun if they first arrive in the world before the game events so they get to learn a bit about the world before enrolling in NRC for investigation reasons, like. Maybe they arrive during previous year Magishift tournament against RSA so they can enter the school and explore, and that's how they learn something is wrong here cuz why are their previous enemies treated as heroes here and they have statues and everything ???
I also think it'd be great to have them meet the Diasomnia family during this moment. Like. They probably catch a glimpse of Silver and think that's Riku who as long as they're aware is supposed to be searching for Sora around the worlds he visited or in QUADRATUM depending on when I decide this crossover takes place, so of course they're going to be confused. Try to talk to him and get startled cuz that's not Riku but the similarities are amazing. Also this might catch the attention of the other members of the dorm cuz people usually only approach a bit because of Malleus (though at a safe distance cuz of fearing him), but Chrome only notices him and his similarities with Maleficent after clearing the misunderstanding with Silver and the other reason they don't give away they have no clue who Malleus is is cuz Sebek (there cuz the event allows him to see his liege, remember this is before he enrolls) yells at them because of their disrespect or something, idk, Sebek style
Point is Chrome gets their initial information source from this meeting cuz of Sebek yelling about Malleus and also because Malleus and Lilia probably notice they got a lot of magic (KH characters in general would be so OP in this game) and ask if they're planning to enroll next year or something, maybe talk a bit about the dorms and specially Diasomnia since that's theirs. Chrome comes back to Yen Sid later with the news of this world and it's decided they're enrolling as cover to investigate. My child has never been to school before, this can only go well.
Also on the topic of enrolling, Chrome probably needs fake documents for that which means they also need a legal guardian there. Unfortunately, Chrome has no family and the amount of legal responsibilities the KH adults take for kids are close to zero, which means they don't have one. So, for these cases I always find it hilarious to put Ansem the Wise as their guardian (why not Yen Sid? Idk man, he barely leaves that tower, maybe it's cuz his crazy powerful magic would be suspicious in a parent-teacher meeting). He has to monitor Chrome to make sure the assimilation of their heart and the recovery of their memories goes well anyway, so it might work. Also, because of the sheer awkwardness since Ansem gave them the Nobody treatment during his DiZ phase and was fucking mean to them, so there's that. Love me some nuanced relationships. Also helps push my Chrome and Ienzo siblings agenda (something something, when you both have grown up as Nobodies and have spent longer without a heart than with one)
Anyway, that's all for now, next time I might rant about how Twisted Wonderland connecting to Kingdom Hearts universe would affect the world and the matter of light, darkness, Heartless and keyblades and how it'd be seen in TWST (aka, my many headcanons about world building)

riku kh & silver twst comparisons
am i only on book 3 of twst? yes. will this stop me? no.
(please for the love of all that exists do not spoil me on anything past book 3)
(i havent taken my adhd meds in over a week someone please save me. im descending into brainrot madness.)
first off, they're near identical (especially with riku's weird horseshoe crab-lookin hairstyle. it looks fine here but it's weird when u see it from behind lol)
only glaring difference (appearance-wise) is the eye color
i mean look at them. ripped? yes. gorgeous silver hair? yep. popped collar? indeed.
look at them! theyre so pretty!
besides appearances, we've also got their connections to maleficent. (silver is in Diasomnia, the dorm dedicated to maleficent; and maleficent all-but adopted riku in kh1)
they're both good at wielding swords (riku is a keyblade master, silver's icon is a sword and one of his quotes is about sword training)
they both have connections to sleep/dreams (silver is always fighting off sleep and i believe i've heard smth about his signature spell relating to dreams but i have not seen that personally yet; riku is sora's dream eater which is a WHOLE other thing that i will go insane if i think about too much)
and theyre both light-coded (ive heard that silver is supposed to represent aurora and/or prince philip but again i dont know for sure; RIKU IS THE LIGHT!!!!! boy is the sun, given SO many halos in-game and in official artwork, nomura when will you reveal your secrets)
they both act tough but they're actually really caring (i know this for certain with riku, but it's just a feeling i have that may or may not be supported for silver)
also i have a major crush and/or gender envy for both of them so. that one's more of a personal judgement but whatever.

So I just watched the new Missing Link cutscenes (here's the video I watched if anyone wants to see them too) and I am having Thoughts so let's dump them here shall we?
Player is just... confused. They just seem so confused in every scene they're in and I love it
I really want to talk about the Baroque Society. It seems like Square is going for a sort of "underdogs" vibe for them. They're small, they're tight-knit (?), they're clearly looked down upon by the higher ups (those scientists did not seem happy that they needed to be called to action).
I'm having mixed feelings about Neptune (also I'm assuming Nept is short for Neptune). On one hand, I love him so much. On the other hand, he seems just a little shady. What are his motives? I'm reluctant to believe any higher ups in this world have good intentions. Idk, I'm keeping an eye on him for now. That said, I love every scene he's in he's probably my favorite so far.
Freya's Japanese voice is kind of annoying to me, but otherwise she seems fine. She's the one giving all the information, but I do like the billboard she's by. I know Nomura said she's not related to Ephemer (which I still think she is), but I could (also) see her being related to the other silver-haired characters we know, like Riku or Hermod and Baldr maybe?
"You took in another one, didn't you?" Freya said that in the scene where Player joins the Baroque Society. "Another one?" Did Neptune pick up Brain too? Honestly I think it would be a complete mind fuck for Brain if Neptune did because now we have 5 kids running their own show, probably about to cause some big chaos...
On first watch it seems like these Societies act like guilds rather than unions, but when rewatching the scenes I realize the scientists say "the founters' societies" so maybe they're more like Unions than I initially thought. Also interesting they said founders, not founder. Regardless, this begs the question of why the Baroque Society is so small and shabby?
I'm loving the theory that Lea is descended from Remus but I'm really worried about why Remus didn't reappear. We can't get tragic siblings this soon can we?
Society Legal Investigations Committee... wonder what that is
Player is so confused but so happy to be part of the Baroque Society
I don't really have much to say about the scientists themselves, but the fact that we keep cutting to them makes me believe they're going to be very important.
The silver haired strangers... Ephemer's descendants perhaps? I'm guessing since they're very shady that they planted the dark thing Nept got from the guards into the Guards' minds... yeah we're going to have some interesting things going on in this game.
That's all I can think of for now but the gears in my brain are turning so hard, and I have some theories, especially about Remus. I'll spare you the theorizing until I get my thoughts in order though

Forgetting Familiar - Riku x Reader
Okay, I think this is as good as it's going to get. Sorry. But I can't do much more without like doubling the words and at that point, I've lost the plot, lol. Still, thank you for bringing me back some angsty Riku.
Premise: Riku is struggling with being alone
Words: 2,016
~~~~~
Pain throbs in my skull, shattering respite in the darkness. For a while, I try ignore it and delve deeper into the realm of sleep, but it’s just too much and now I must suffer the world of the waking.
The grey ceiling seems unassuming, but even it burns my eyes. Rubbing at my face doesn’t soothe a thing. Still, I manage to sit up and take a look. Pots and shelves line the walls, filled with all sorts of objects and knickknacks. Behind the bed is a single window, letting in the abhorrently-blinding light and across the way is a plain, wooden door.
I don’t know this room.
Legs wobble trying to support me, even landing me back on the bed once. Voices from behind the door encourage me to stand. My head screams for me to stop, to let the floor take me and stop struggling. But I stagger on.
Pulling the door open, I find a large group of people on the other side. Whatever chatter ensuing now falls silent, all eyes on me. All of them look surprised, but not as much as the young man with silver hair and the most-striking teal eyes.
Again, my crippled legs take me down, drawing gasps from the crowd. Hasty steps bring the silver-haired man skidding on his knees before me. Warm, firm hands on my shoulders hold me steady.
“Are you okay?! Do you feel sick?! Are you dizzy?!”
His words rush by so fast they slip through my brain’s grasp. So my mouth lets run the truth.
“My head hurts.”
“Well you were thrown through a stone wall,” the tall red-head remarks.
“Xemnas wasn’t holding back even a little,” says the girl with ebony hair.
The man in front of me pushes the hair from my face, being so careful in spite of his anxiety.
“I was so worried. I thought you were gone.”
The sound kind of just falls out of my mouth.
Eyes wide, horror dawning on his expression, he asks, “What?”
It takes a moment for my thoughts to sort themselves out and I repeat myself.
“Who are you?”
~~~~~
I can still hear his screaming in my ears. He begged in vain before turning to cursing how nothing was fair. However, what he cried for I’m still not entirely sure. All memory has been erased from my mind—I’m lucky to even recognize my own name. The context by which everyone else works is the only basis I’ve been able to work on during these last few months.
From what I’ve gathered, I was an ally to those I met upon waking up and my amnesia is but one of the unfortunate results of the worlds-deciding battle hard won. Another was the loss of a very important team member and the self-induced coma of another. Both of these individuals were the best friends of Riku.
That pain of losing loved ones that Riku is suffering is one I can only imagine, made worse by the fact that he has none to share it with. That battle took away everything from him and that’s worthy of my pity.
Still, that’s no excuse for dragging me into his breakdown. Terra and Ven had to physically pry his hands off me while Aqua and the three fairies ushered me back into the other room. His fingers digging into my skin and the utter fear in his eyes are burned into my senses. He wanted so desperately for me to remember, but it was useless. Perhaps I held the secret to his friends’ returns. If I did, I don’t remember it and I may never remember it again.
For now, I’ve been left in the care of Master Yen Sid as both his assistant and patient. Dozens of attempts have been made to restore my memory with no success. Meanwhile, we’ve simultaneously scoured tome upon tome for the whereabouts of the lost keyblade wielder. It hasn’t been miserable—I’m sure I’ve learned more about this existence that I knew before—but I can’t help feeling like something’s not right.
Another stack of books obscures my sight as I climb the spiral stairs. Knuckles rap against the wooden door as I let myself into the Master’s office.
“Sir, I’ve brought your latest request of—whoa!”
“Careful!”
The tower in my arms begins to topple. However, before I lose all control of the stack, someone on the other side rights the balance.
“Phew. Thank you…”
The sentiment dies on my tongue at the sight of the man who saved me. His eyes quickly divert, ensuring I’m stable enough to be released.
“No problem…”
Shaking the awkwardness, I approach the Master’s desk. “Your books, sir.”
His ever-intense gaze skims the spines before him. “I’m afraid there are other books that I’m in need of.”
I gesture to the walls of texts in which he’s barricaded himself. “We’re running out of space to store any more books.”
The wizened wizard eyes his leftovers. “True. Perhaps it’s time to return some of these to their rightful homes and make room for new knowledge.”
I sigh.
“You can go with Riku.”
Neither of us seemed to expect that. “What?!”
“If you need books returned, I can do that for you with—” Riku’s glance convinces me that he’s choosing to reword his statement. “—er, without taking up your assistant’s valuable time.”
“No. I’m in need of more research.” Master’s eyes turn back on me. “You know what sort of material I’m looking for as well as which books I’ve already combed through. And I trust you to acquire any others that may be of interest. So I would like you to accompany Riku to Radiant Gardens and peruse the library of Ansem the Wise.”
Shoulders drop, gaze falling to the floor. “Yes sir.”
“Riku, thank you for the update on the situation. I presume my infringement on your next destination isn’t too much to ask.”
“No sir.” His head dips and, with the utmost formality, he faces me to gesture towards the door. “Whenever you’re ready.”
Defeated, I point to the pile beside the door. “These ones are ready to be returned to Radiant Gardens.”
Riku grabs a handful and takes the lead, giving me one last chance to throw a pleading glance to Master Yen Sid, who’s already delving into his next book. With my fate sealed, I join Riku in loading up the gummiship. The work and flight go quiet, awkward, filled with tension that I’m not entirely sure the origin of.
Greeted by the guards at Radiant Gardens, we’re left to our own devices. Riku sees that I know my way to the library before I send him off on his own errands, happy to be rid of the stress.
It’s not that I dislike Riku; I just don’t understand him. All I know is the fragility of his current state, not what drives him or who he really is. So I consider it best not to be involved, lest I potentially make his problems worse. It’s not as if he’s made any effort to change my present views of him either. His visits to the tower are brief, sparing me only painful glances before rushing off again. Even worse, he makes it feel like everything is wrong. If I had to guess, we weren’t all that close.
My finger skims another spine, plucking the book to peruse its contents.
“Find any more books for Master Yen Sid?”
I glance back. I didn’t think he could get any more melancholic. That stony somberness has turned to utter dejection. He looks like he could collapse at any moment from the weight of his own depression.
“Uh, yeah.” I look to the handful I’ve collected on the nearby table. “I found a few, but I doubt that Lord Ansem will have much more that the Master hasn’t already seen. I’ll have to consult with him about finding other worlds to source his books from.”
“I see…”
That tension has returned, it’s palpability growing in the silence. It makes concentration difficult as I try to assess the book in hand.
Then Riku speaks again.
“I’m sorry…about before.”
Titling my head, I peek at the young man. He keeps is gaze aimed at the wall, a cocktail of negative emotion eeking out from him. My heart quivers yet my voice remains even.
“It’s fine. I imagine that emotions run high fresh after war.”
His hesitation tells me he thinks twice on his response. “Yeah…”
Normally, I’d rather bask in the silence, but at the moment it’s suffocating. Something urges me to sympathize with the warrior.
“How’s your friend? Find any leads?”
I shouldn’t have asked.
“No. Nothing’s changed.” A distracting hand runs over the pile of books.
“Everyone’s working hard. I’m sure they’ll find a way to bring them back soon,” I say, attempting to backtrack.
Though his eyes stare at the cover of the top book, I’m certain they see nothing. This trip has only pushed him closer to the edge of breaking. The Master should’ve never pushed me on him, exposing this vulnerability when I’m sure he’d rather hide away.
“You still don’t remember anything, do you.” The pathetic hope in his voice pricks at my conscience.
Meaning to be more apologetic than anything, I respond, “Sorry. I can’t help you.”
“I…”
What semblance of composure this man has been clinging to finally slips his grasp, revealing the full brunt of his agony.
“I don’t need your help.”
Without another word, Riku starts for the door he never reaches. Stumbling feet send his shoulder into the wall where he just slumps to the floor. The shudder that ripples through his body steals my breath away.
“Riku?”
Fingers dig into his arms. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore. I don’t even know if any of this can be fixed but if I stop trying I might as well be worthless. But I’m tired and scared and weak.” The crack that rises in his voice nearly brings me to tears. “And I’m just so sick of being alone.”
With a mind of their own, my feet close the gap. By his shoulder, I pull Riku back to face me, dropping to my knees before him. What follows I haven’t the slightest idea of where it came from.
“Hey. Look. Look at me.” Gentle coaxing guides those teary eyes to me, tugging at my heartstrings.
Whatever compels me to drop my mouth to his unlocks a burning desire within. Hands slip beneath his, giving his frantic fingers something else to hold. Salt-laced lips conform helplessly to my whim, allowing me to drag his mentality back towards stable ground. With this control, I pray to convey reassurance. In his chaotic, crumbling life, I hope in this moment to be the rock to which he can ground himself.
Softly, the kiss breaks, gentle breaths ghosting between us. He still seems broken and weary, but not utterly hopeless anymore. Though I’m afraid he’s hoping for the impossible from me, I brush the hair from his face.
I speak only loud enough for our own little seclusion.
“You are not alone. I may not be them, but I’m here. And I’ll take every step with you, even if I have to drag you.” These words don’t feel like my own, but somehow I know this is right. “So be strong or be weak—be whatever you need to get through this—but don’t ever doubt that I’m with you. Okay?”
Contemplation keeps him quiet but he does manage to nod.
“Don’t you ever forget that.” A thumb brushes away another tear.
Cautious hands slip behind my back, pulling me closer for Riku to hide his face against my shoulder. Taking his lead, I return the gesture, holding tight. His heartache slowly melts, relief rolling off him.
I can’t explain this contentment seeping into my bones, but I think I needed this just as much as he did. Because for the first time since I woke up, I’ve finally found something familiar.

I know the list is long! I love a lot of 2D men. These are only the ones I'd buy merchandise for, so... that's telling you something about my hobby. Color-coded by how much I adore them. Most other characters fall into the next category, which is merch that I'd collect, but not seek out on its own or buy without someone else in the list.
Grand total of loves in each sign
Leo: 8
Cancer: 7
Virgo: 6
Sagittarius: 4
Gemini: 4
Scorpio: 4
Aquarius: 4
Pisces: 4
Aries: 3
Libra: 3
Taurus: 3
Capricorn: 3
Turns out I like Leos the most and subsequently fire signs at 15. This is tied with water signs at 15 and Cancers taking up second place. Virgo is my third favorite sign with earth clocking in at 12. And strangely, air signs only hit 11, which I thought would be my most loved kind since I tend to like Gemini characters, but I guess not.

Violinist Sora.
I really love the story Silver Lights, Turquoise Nights by ChainmailBucket
An AU where Sora's a college student studying the violin who gets a job working with famous actor Riku Crescent. I've been thinking about trying to sketch a scene for ages. Absolutely recommend it. ^_^

for the swanlake!au why do you think Riku would fit better as Odette? I woud love to know you’re thought process because both Riku and Sora could work for different reasons. If you feel like it, could you also talk about why sora would work as Odette too or why he fits the role of prince better? Keep up the good work!!
For me it comes down to the vibes, it feels right to me to have Sora as the prince and Riku as the swan and not the other way around. BUT. If we dig deeper into why I feel so, it comes down to the canon characterization of the characters.
Sora has a lot of royalty symbolism in his character, the crown, being depicted sitting on thrones, sporting more gold tones (versus Riku who as far as I remember has only ever had cool metals on him) even the shoulder pauldrons he has in KH2 have a royal knight type of air about them. Sora also being the more dominant personality, a headstrong extrovert, leading man and hero type, make him more fitting to be the brash prince imo. Sora's overall moveset is more "macho", especially in KH1 where he hangs low and very heavily swings the keyblade around almost like a claymore instead of a sword.
Rikus foundations have instead always been more elegant, many of his initial fighting moves being inspired by ballet, the long hair and half skirt, the more reserved and evasive character. Especially early on in the series Riku has a tendency to hide and run from his problems and feelings instead of confronting them head on, and I think that's more in line with the more cautious swan being approached by the prince.
Admittedly by KH3 their roles have somewhat switched between them and a lot has shifted in their characters, so their later iterations would possibly fit the other way around, but that's a whole other essay and I'll leave it at that.
...and as a more superficial reason, Riku's silver hair with the aesthetic of the swan fits so nicely (♡-_-♡)
