An overly passionate post about Hank Pym and Jan Van Dyne

I’d like to preface this by saying Hank Pym is my favorite Ant-man and that I don’t think he deserves all the hate and controversy he gets, however I’ve noticed a lot of his fans tend to villainize Jan Van Dyne for reasons that I think are personally sort of stupid. A lot of Hank’s fans try to defend him by painting Wasp as a creep who took advantage of him during a psychotic break/the time when he was in that fugue state as Yellowjacket by marrying him during that time- but that’s not how it went down! She married him out during that time out of fear of what he’d do to her (he tried to force harsh kisses on her and sexually harassed her etc) and out of genuine concern! Jan clearly loved Hank and would constantly try and build up his nonexistent self-esteem but didn’t know how- She would try and prop up his ego but kept accidentally feeding into Hank’s weird complexes instead. I will say that Jan flirted with other men a lot but that wasn’t her being unloyal so much as her natural personality- but when you cross that with her being more successful and younger than him and he took that as a sign she wasn’t loyal/thinking she only liked him out of pity or to make herself look better. 

 She wasn’t manipulating him for her own ends, she wanted to help and have a healthy relationship with him. Still, she didn’t know how to handle the situation properly- Hank needed a therapist, not a girlfriend who thought maybe if she complimented him enough, maybe if she propped him up enough they could be good together- she comes off as a person who had no prior experience with mental illness like this- no frame of reference, no idea what to do, and she didn’t seem to understand what was going on- so she accidentally enabled him and made things worse but she didn’t manipulate him. It’s pretty relatable- If you’ve ever had a mentally ill friend or whatever but had no prior knowledge of mental illness, you tend to mishandle things- you become insensitive/mean without meaning to, or you end up enabling bad behavior- it’s scary and Jan’s case she was in actual physical danger! 

I’d also like to say that Hank while not at all stable had some lucidity when he hit Jan, and prior to him hitting Jan he was already displaying emotionally abusive behaviors (Destroying her costume, practically interrogating her) so no you can’t blame it his mental illness- he still had enough awareness of what he was doing (That being said who in there right mind let Hank rejoin the Avengers after he had a severe disassociative episode-I would have demanded he’d go to therapy or be institutionalized if he refused) 

I do like Hank, he’s a complex/interesting character. He has an inferiority complex so deep he’s tried to kill himself, he’s made preemptive strikes to prove his worth to others, he gave himself health issues from becoming Giant-man and it’s again tied to his insecurities. Outside of his suicidal tendencies, he’s got anger management issues, suffers paranoid delusions, disassociates, etc. He’s also incredibly self-sacrificing and is a strong believer in second chances- redemption is what he wanted for himself- what he tries to convince others he can have- so he hopes he can give to others too. Also, he’s a badass mad scientist (Literally that’s what sold me on him as a character) but the point still stands he was a domestic abuser, he refused to get help for a long time until it reached a breaking point and his reputation both in-universe and out can’t ever make a full recovery- like I said he’s complicated, so you can’t just paint him as a wife-beater or say absolved of his misdeeds because of his insanity or someone else egging him on, Jan was a victim plain and simple even if you point out some of her enabling behaviors

But my ultimate hot take? EMH’s Hank and Jan are the most annoying couple- separately I loved them but whenever I saw Janet whine or Hank moan about the other all I could think was- “Please, the love of God just break up!”- I was like kid preteen btw and still found that drama annoying

Top 5 Horror movies you'd want to be in/ think you could survive?

Abby!!! What a good fucking question, holy shit. 😍 I had so much fun thinking about whether or not I would be killed in all of the spooky movies that I love. (I'm being completely serious)

- Jaws (or any shark movie except Ghost Shark or 5 Headed Shark Attack)

"Terrible shark movies" is one of my favorite genres of horror movies. I have seen dozens of them. So I am confident when I say I could easily survive, even if I were on vacation. I'm not really a big swimmer. I prefer lounging on the beach with my headphones or reading. But also because the second someone says they saw a big shark, or if there is even a SINGLE mysterious death/body found in the water, I'm out. I will simply get into a car and drive to higher ground. No thank you. 😌

I excluded Ghost Shark because he is a ghost that can manifest in any water, including when you take a drink (that's literally one of the kills and it's great). And the monstrosity in 5 Headed Shark Attack can leave the water and use some of it's dumb extra heads like legs to chase you around on land (it's also great in a "this is so bad I love it" way).

- Trick 'r Treat

I adore this movie. First, the setting is quintessential Halloween! Decorated houses, costumes, fun parties, spooky fog, and town lore with no snow on the ground (😒)?? I watch it every year to set the vibe because it's perfect. Second, to survive Trick 'r Treat, you just have to have respect for the holiday and follow the rules of Halloween. It's my favorite holiday and day of the year so I do that anyway (I already leave most of my decorations out year round). This is a win/win for me. Also, I would adopt Sam immediately. That's my son. 🎃🍭

- Predator

Yautja ***normally only kill people they consider worthy of hunting or a threat. I am neither of those things. I hate running and I do not go near weapons or have any expertise that makes me dangerous in any way. Plus, then Yautja would exist and I would risk it all to f—*gunshot*

***(the exception being bad bloods, but they're Yautja that have violated their honor code and are hunted down by their own kind)

- Barbarian

As a woman, if I am traveling alone and booking a hotel or Air BnB, I research the fuck out of that neighborhood. I would have taken one look at the area around that listing and said, "Absolutely not." And if I did somehow manage to book it, even—or especially—while driving through a strange area at night, I would have been hyper aware of my surroundings. No way I would have gotten out of that car. She was even warned during her interview that she should NOT be in that area and the interviewer was visibly shaken, and she STILL went back and stayed. She blatantly ignored 3 🚩. Couldn't be me. (I loved this movie though)

- Dead Silence

This is one of those movies with a setting I would LOVE to live in. (If anyone hasn't seen this movie, it's actually better than it looks and I recommend it for the setting alone.) The town is called Ravens Faire. It looks permanently gloomy. It has a spooky manor, funeral home, cemetery, and an abandoned haunted theater. Also Mary Shaw only kills people if they scream, and when I'm jump scared, I just grab my chest and gasp. So I'm good 😊

Drive (2011) - An Autistic Reading

Have you guys ever watched this movie with Ryan Gosling? Did you know he's literally me. Hello, fellas, today I am going to talk about why I think Guy From Drive, the Protagonist of Drive, has this thang called autism.

Everything you see here is headcanon. It wasn't intentional on the movie's part. In fact, I know it and find it hilarious. Every writing choice in this movie that led it to be critically acclaimed as a sigma male film bro has only pushed this guy further into The Spectrum. Let's take a look at them.

The Jacket

You can't talk about Drive without bringing up Ryan Gosling's silvery embroidered scorpion jacket. This iconic costume design has him standing out in the crowd as the baddass that he is, a part of his personality and of the movie's visual design. He wears that scorpion jacket so often that it becomes his image in the movie's posters.

OR... It's his comfort clothing. This jacket gets progressively dirtier with blood as the movie goes forward and he does not take it out even when he has the chance to change. Because it's the right texture, it's comfortable and familiar. When everything is falling apart around him in the second half of the movie, that scorpion quite literally has his back.

The Gloves

We love a sexy pair of gloves. I like to think they have the same function, another comfort, since he's never caught driving without them on. Might be a sensory thing too, keeping things from touching his hands.

Which reminds me of this scene

This scene is very WOW. The SYMBOLISM. His hands are DIRTY because he is a CRIMINAL.

But he was also talking his way out of physical contact here.

The Brooding Attitude

Another thing you can't talk about this movie without bringing up is the fact the protagonist is Very Mysterious and Brooding and Quiet. Everyone wants to be as cool as he is with how Quiet and Mysterious he acts. I even saw people making fun at the fact that it takes him a good 30 seconds to answer anything addressed to him.

But to me, that was just screaming nonverbality. It's not even that he's an introvert, or awkward at socializing, since he happily seeks out Irene and her son Benício to chat with them. It's just that it's hard for him - the actual talking.

In this context, his monologue at the start of the film, which he repeats later on when he decides to help Standard, might be something he scripted, and rolls more easily off his tongue now.

People also point out his facial expression stays the same for the entire movie. He also often stares at everything in a very intense manner. It might be him being all baddass and calm and collected, or it might be that he just can't emote properly, something that happens a lot with autistic people. It's not like Ryan Gosling was being a lazy / bad actor, because he hinted microexpressions and acted with his entire body during the movie. A scene that definitely caught my eye was the one he was about to hammer a bullet into his enemy's face.

Sure, his face doesn't change even as he talks with the big baddy guy on the phone, but he's clearly angry to the point of twitching a little.

The Toothpick

I like that he had this little toothpick in his mouth all the time. He even asks Benício if he wants one, and the kid, thinking he's cool as hell, accepts so he can be like him. It's a nice little trait that adds extra personality to him.

It's also most definitely a stim.

The Cars

Last thing I have to add is the theme of the entire movie. This guy lives and breathes cars. He has three separate jobs and all of them involve cars. Every hobby and leisure activity he was portrayed partaking in the movie was in a car. He drives.

Cars are his special interest. We'll never know the choices that led him to his life of crimes, but we know he managed to include his favorite thing, the thing he loves and specialized on, into it. And he does a damn good job at it, his baddass movie protagonist-grade talent at being Mr. Drive.

Bonus: the theme song

Just cause "A Real Hero" by College is such an autistic song to me. Those lyrics about being "emotionally complex, in a grain of dystopic claims", all while the chorus repeats itself ad-infinitum, reassuring you that you've proven yourself to be a real human being (and a real hero). It's a common experience to autism, and I can confirm it, to feel alienated, like you're some sort of alien in a sea of normal people. The fact this song reassures me I'm human is very comforting.

HOTD S1 Costumes Review:

Some thoughts on season 1 of HOTD's costumes since I'm bored and feel like complaining...

Starting w/ young Rhaenyra :)

...yeah there's literally nothing I could say that hasn't been said already. The internet tore this dress (rightfully) to shreds. It doesn't fit well, the material is all crinkled, the bust darts just look kinda off, the short sleeves make it look more dressed down and less "royal", and the red trim around the neckline and shoulders is just ugly. Which is a shame because the embroidered strip going down the dress is actually quite pretty, but we can't even see it in the show. 2/10.

Her dragon riding outfit on the other hand was amazing! The dragon scale shoulders, with the little metal beads layered throughout looked great, it fit properly, and looked fashionable while still being practical 10/10 no notes.

Words cannot begin to describe how much I hate this dress. The costume designer said they used silk for almost everything but look me in the eyes and tell me that isn't printed poly cotton from walmart. And don't even get me started on the sheer collar thing and the awful puffy sleeves it's giving amazon queen Elizabeth, which is a shame because the actual design for the dress was beautiful, with the dragon wing-esque collar, and the long flowy white sleeves. We were robbed!! 0/10.

Next is her funeral dress, which honestly might be my favorite young Rhaenyra look. I think in terms of color and silhouette, it's by far the most "Targaryen" look she wears. It's actually two pieces, with a black dress under a cape with the pointy shoulder bit. I adore the little white puffs on the sleeves, and the gold trim embroidery around the neckline is just chef's kiss perfection. The structured look to the cape is very reminiscent of Dany's seasons 7 and 8 looks which is a nice homage, and I love the bit of red just peeking out from the cape's underside. Honestly my only gripe is she didn't get more outfits like this 10/10.

...but sadly, the ugly dresses continue. I hate the fabric. I hate the sleeves. I hate the color. I hate the belt. I hate the string tying the sleeves to the dress. 1/10.

I don't even remember her wearing this but it came up on google when I was looking for pictures so I guess I'll include it. Ummmm... it's nice I guess? The main thing throwing it off is the fact that this is the only time we see this sleeve style, so it just looks a bit out of place. The fabric drape looks good, and all the embroidered bits really elevate it. 7/10.

Her nightgown only appears for like 2 seconds but it was so pretty and reminded me of a chemise a la reine :) 9/10.

YELLOW DRESS REDEMPTION!!! FINALLY!!! Beautiful fabric choice, elegant cut, feels like something a princess would wear. Love the addition of the red undersleeves, really makes the red in the main dress pop and the embroidery around the collar?!!?! Gorgeous. 9/10.

Her leather riding outfit has grown on me, I think the fit is great, and the cutout work is beautiful. Someone on twitter already pointed this out, but it does look eerily reminiscent of this wool coat from Armstreet, just desaturated. I wouldn't call it copying but the glaringly obvious similarities are a bit funny. 8/10.

Another amazing red and gold dress, this time leaning more into the red! I know so many cosplayers have scoured the internet looking for this fabric with no luck, but damn is it gorgeous!! Perfect silhouette (notice how it opts for simple princess seams w/ no weird bust darts!) and the gold dragon belt just sends it over the top. The coat she wears over it is also serving Targ royalty (finally), especially with the red velvet shoulders and collar, that give it that classic Targaryen shape. 10/10.

Her wedding dress might be the one I have the most mixed feelings on. It could have been a bit more fitted, and while I like the fabric, I think it needed more gold ornamentation to feel like a proper royal wedding dress for the crown princess and heir to the throne! Also, I really don't like the belt or the weird gold shoulder straps, they cheapen the overall look. Also, compared to the concept art, I wish they had gone for the solid gold belt, it would have added some much-needed contrast. The Targaryen/Velaryon split cloak however looks great. When I first saw her hair, it was definitely... striking. It doesn't look terrible, just maybe a bit too top heavy and squarish, while the concept art crown looked so much better. 7.5/10.

And of course I had to save the best for last. imo this is the best costume in the entire show. It has three main parts, with lots of accessories. There's the red dress, which actually has a deep v neckline, and is covered in embroidery on the front, the sleeve cuffs, and on the back near the neckline. Then there's the gold cape with zardozi trim all around it, and a separate black velvet piece on top embroidered on the front lapels with two golden dragons, and two more smaller ones on the back with a sunburst design around them. It's perfect. 100/10.

Really hope I didn't miss any but oh well... young Alicent is next :)

Peter Parker x Felicia Hardy Headcanons -

(Marriage)

Prompt: A healthy dose of Peter x Felicia (civilian) marriage headcanons. Centered around a hybrid MCU-comic universe. Because Marvel won't let them be happy. Enjoy.

First off, Aunt May thinks it's adorable. Surprising, but adorable.

In fact, Aunt May is the first person to know that Peter is thinking about popping the question.

Next is MJ and Harry - he tells them together, both are over the moon. Then Miles, and then Ned, and then Cindy. Basically - everybody knows Peter's proposal is coming EXCEPT Felicia.

As if those idiots are good at hiding secrets. MJ is, she's rock-solid, especially against Felicia. Peter has no worries about her. Cindy too. It's Miles and Harry he has to worry about.

Ever since they started dating, her and Harry have been attached at the hip. Felicia is like Miles' adopted aunt. Harry is horrible at dropping hints and Miles is bad when pressured.

But somehow they miraculosly get to the day without Felicia finding out.

Peter is admittedly a bit terrified.

When he first gets down on one knee and asks - at the center of the Brooklyn Bridge of all places, their favorite date stop - Felicia just looks at him and screams.

She just screams and throws herself into his arms. He has to remind her she actually has to answer the question. She has her arms around his neck, already putting on the ring, before she realizes and starts saying 'Yes!'

And yes, Felicia is that woman who tries to 'nonchalantly' show off her ring at any given oppruntunity. Like she suddenly becomes left-handed overnight now that she's engaged.

She even wears her engagement ring while working. A diamond ring and deadly claws is a lewk.

They'd be in the middle of superhero fights and she'll say something like 'Get your hands off my fiance!' because Black Cat feels compelled to let the public know Spider-mans spoken for.

Felicia and Peter's engagement is pretty far from normal.

Felicia and Peter already have a shit ton on their plates already, and they both know next to nothing about weddings, so wedding planning for them is uhhhh- a fucking challenge.

Seriously, they literally go like 2 years before Harry is like 'Hey, isn't it the anniversary of your engagement??' and the both of them are like 'fuck. fuck it is.'

Superhero life just gets in the way sometimes. Who has time for suit shopping when you have two jobs and a rogues gallery of people trying to murder you?

So the gang steps up. MJ becomes their impromptu wedding planner. Harry offers to boot the bill for the everything. Cake tastings, Dress fittings, venue scouting. It starts to be a lot. And with hero work always on the roster, it starts to be a bit too much.

And so they ELOPE.

They wake up one moring. They're both thinking it. Felicia's the one to just come out and say it, and Peter just gives a sigh of relief.

They give everyone a 72 hour heads-up. They pick a spot, find an officator, and just go for it.

The Black Cat is no stranger to stunning in dresses, especially wedding dresses in the past (when she wanted to mess with Peter), but for her own actual wedding, out of costume, I think Felicia would switch it up.

Instead, her and Peter spring for matching tailored. His in an classy black, and hers form-fitted and white.

Peter has Harry, Miles and Ned as his best men, with Felicia having MJ and Cindy as her bridesmaids.

And that Sunday at noon, on the Brooklyn Bridge surrounded by 15 of their closest friends, with lots of love and lots of tears, Felicia Hardy and Peter Parker tie the knot!

Felicia and Peter decide mutally to take each others name, happily making them Felicia and Peter Parker-Hardy.

Oh yeah, and the Second Wedding -

Yes, They have a second wedding. Kinda.

Why? Because Felicia is that extra. Sure, they had a beautiful intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family-

But how the hell is the world going to know that Spider-man is now a married man? Unacceptable. They need a hero wedding.

It's more of a reception than a wedding. It takes place at Tony's Penthouse, because for some reason Tony lets Felicia harrass him.

That's the bigger function. They have a seperate pair of vows for their hero wedding. They have one of the heros act as officiator (I'll let you pick. Maybe Reed Richards, maybe Stephen Strange)

Pretty much anyone who isn't evil gets an invite. Daredevil, Wolverine, Cap. The F4. And yes, even Wade who blubbers through the whole (second) service.

Black Cat wears her stunning wedding gown and of course Spider-man wears a suit...over his suit.

If he can hack it, Peter would even try to get other Spider-Men in on it, from across the multiverse. (It happens sometimes)

And Finally,

The best wedding gift ever comes from Tony Stark: an alternative wedding ring made from Vibranium, the perfect accessory for when Black Cats on the clock crime-fighting.

From then on they playfully call each other Mrs.Spider and Mr.Cat.

The two of them have the COOLEST wedding photos.

OKAY SO. who wants to talk about rent? because I DO!!! this afternoon i saw a production at this random little theatre downtown. (i’ll add pictures at the end btw) it was a bunch of college kids in the show, and let me just say: they were cast SO perfectly it’s not even funny. i want to go character by character because it was really awesome and i loved it and i forgot how much i loved this show (even if it has some flaws), but before i do a character analysis and such, let me give some background info! i had front row seats, and since there wasn’t really an actual stage, the actors were directly in front of us and that was super cool!! there was a couple bits of audience interaction which i liked and i also made eye contact with a couple people and i almost died. onto the characters!!!

starting off strong with Roger because he’s my favorite! the vocals were so strong and full and i was blown away by how amazing he was (im in love with him no joke like holy crap) he made me cry MULTIPLE times in the second act because he showed his emotion so strongly and it like radiated off of him. ALSO HE MADE EYE CONTACT WITH ME NOT ONCE, BUT T H R E E TIMES!!!!!! I DIEEEED I SWOONED I CRIED OMG 😭😭😭 um but yeah his vocals stunned me and he showcased his emotions very very well! (he was also really attractive but that’s irrelevant)

next up is Mark because it just seems wrong to not put him after Roger 😭 he played his role so wonderfully and it was really insane how much resemblance he had to the character!!! like he looks exactly like how Mark should look and it was perfect. i really liked his mannerisms and the way he articulated certain lines scratched my brain very good!! his voice was ALSO phenomenal and his mother (who was sitting next to us) told us that he hadn’t sung in TWO YEARS so for him to sound that good after not performing in a musical for so long was literally amazing!!! he also made eye contact with me after Angels death while i was crying on my friends shoulder, and he like gave me a little nod which was very lovely. i really enjoyed how he played Mark, 10/10 fr!

Tom Collins next: his voice had such a nice bass tone to it and it was really pretty and eep! i absolutely LOVED how he looked at Angel almost any chance he had throughout the show, and i don’t know if it was staged or it was a character choice but i liked it. i don’t have much else to say about him because i payed a lot more attention to Roger (😭) but he also did a really great job!!!

ANGELLLLLL!!!! OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS I REALLY LIKED HOW SHE WAS PORTRAYED IN THIS PRODUCTION! i was very scared at first because of the fact that it was a small performance and i wasn’t sure how good it would be, but the actor was amazing. also: the costuming department absolutely AAAATTEEE with all of Angels outfits because they were on point! my friend and i freaked out every time there was a costume change because they were all so cool! the actor had such a lovely vocal range and i think it was sooo perfect for the character!!!

Mimi was ICONIC. first off, she was about my height which i was super excited about because you don’t always see a lot of super short girls playing the leads. she was like a foot shorter than Roger and she was so cuteeee!! her voice was SO strong and she had really nice breath control, but she had a lot of vibrato, which kind of threw me off at first. overall, i loved the way she played her, she made her very sad and she seemed super torn throughout a lot of the show.

i’m going to put Maureen and Joanne into one paragraph because i don’t have a lot to say about them. Joanne had a REALLY nice belt like her voice was supported and loud and take me for what i am was BEAUTIFUL!!! between her and Maureen that song was super good and you could almost feel the tension. also i have No Day But Today written on my converse, and Maureen saw them when she was on the ground near us during one of the scenes, and she pointed and smiled!

this was their set, and there was a bunch of parts of the walls that spun and worked like doors which i thought was THE COOLEST!!!

1 killing game - amazing cold open start to the episode, i love janeway and karr they make me insane theyre great together as competitors and as leaders who want to save their people and they respect each other as enemies, quotable af, OUT OF UNIFORM COSTUMES ARE SUCH A PLUS, VERY unique take on a holodeck episode, love the hirogen designs, definitely has some points where im not paying attention but it feels somehow less than the other 2 parters, another mention of i love karr he is fave voyager antagonist hes literally everything 2 me, the first episode is very strong and memorable to me, the second ep fizzles out significantly but it still has a lot of memorable moments i think the battle at the end is the worst part lmao also that one SPEECH is a real snoozer for me, love the resolution, good stuff. ill get killed for this one but the lack of harry involvement in this ep is a major plus for me lmao. im glad with what he got purposed with, not in a cruel way but it makes sense given what hes good at.

2 workforce - MORE COSTUMES everyone looks beautiful, janeways late series chub is a major plus 👌, shes literally so quirky in this one and it hits on one of my favorite aspects of her character which is her hidden yearning to settle down and be happy and not a captain which she so easily lets herself fall into unknowingly lifted of those burdens, this is another two parter where the harry content wasnt terrible and i enjoy MOST of his contributions his bickering with the doctor about commanding the ship is a big negative but i like when hes whiney about his tummy ache lmao, seven’s bangs!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 we stan, i love jaffen hes perfect for kathryn SORRYYYYYYY i think its charming how much hes like mark SAD, i love the tom and belanna content which is few and far between for me in the later seasons it just hits in a way that doesnt make either side seem self centered or angry for no good reason (rare) like its just them (tom especially) caring about the other which is what really drew me to enjoying them in the earlier seasons, i always love gaslighty lost sense of reality episodes theyre a big fave to me always can you tell, i enjoy the uniqueness of the doctor’s role in this ep it almost parallels what the rest of the crew is going through in how different it is to his normal regime

3 basics - another opening i like, its always fun to tie in other eps (Meld) and a great choice for a returning crew member given the circumstances of this ep i think its cute hes gotten into flowers, this ep has so much hecking dadcore in it OF COURSE ITS RANKED REALLY HIGH, i love the guidance chakotay receives from his father about fatherhood (selfishly it just REALLY conveniently ties into my au really well), ponytail janeway era MAJOR PLUS, i hate nail peeling HUGE CON, love that seska just breastfeeds on the bridge in front of everyone slay queen, i enjoy a lot of the marooned on planet scenes its nice in the context of how resolutions was just an ep prior, we love to see chakotay carrying baby naomi lalala, tuvok with a bow. i would bully him.

4 caretaker - everyone is so beautiful and babycoded, MARK!!!!!!!!!!!, love the nacene so much, this ep took me so many watches and reads of the book adaptation to comprehend ngl its not very visually cohesive, nostalgic fondness? always fun to watch endgame and go back it feels good to go back here, everyone in season 1 is great take me back papa, i was convinced harry/belanna was endgame from these two eps (honestly still wish it was sometimes lmao), i DONT like the quark cameo GET HIM OUT OF HERE, janeway moaning when shes tortured 😳, i hate the part where chakotays blowing up the val jean its always cringe acting/script choices to me, i love the firm uneasiness of janeway in the earlier seasons bc its her first command and she hasnt loosened up yet i just love when her performance of janeway is more rigid and u can tell when she gets uncomfortable idk i love early season janeway for that :)

5 endgame - bittersweet and irrevocably changed which is always my favorite for voyager ❤️, janeway trying to beat her delta quadrant speedrun score, i enjoy C7 sue me, i dont like a lot of the aging makeup that makes me particular and nitpicky lol, janeway throwing a tantrum until she gets what she wants BELOVED, i love seeing chakotay reject janeways dinner invite lmao thats what u get for being stubborn idiot!!!!!!!!! C7 earned, i think its funny and a bit contrived that they needed more reasons for janeway to cheat getting home so they set up a degrading illness for tuvok in the last episode of the show, neelix helping ship C7 so he can have janeway all to himself headcanon, i like the miral casting and i like that she idolizes janeway and they threw naomi to the wind lmao bye, subtracted huge points for ending the show on a borg plot when it should have been suspiria 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄, harry has some bad scenes in this one, i really wish wed gotten that alleged scene of the admiral talking with chakotay about janeway not suspecting his relationship with seven yet SIIIIGGGGHHHHHHH, i love that it ends on a weirdly unfulfilled note because ermmmmmmm i think many of them changed as people in the DQ janeway can finally rest but shes left lacking purpose and i think thats epic

6 year of hell - obviously janeway is a major plus and carries the entire story imo but i DONT like these eps, its got some great moments like i love seven helping tuvok shes such a spanky new character and i honestly kinda wish she got handled more like the glimpses of her growth scene in this episode rather than what actually happens rip, i obviously enjoy the POCKET WATCH, this is another two parter that lost me on cohesiveness a lot lmao and ive watched it many times, you could argue that im too dumb for year of hell (probably) but you could also say that star trek prodigy similarly struggles with its grasp on its portrayal of time travel and altering of timelines as well 🫣, i think about that scene where the doctor closes door on those crew members a lot where his face is like 😐, chakotay mustache 👌 gone too soon, its like a plus to me that its not a borg 2parter but i still think its pretty weak in what little it says about our characters and i dont think episodes where theyre erased from time/memory are a waste of time but their erasure from the timeline in these eps feel rather fruitless and dont feel like we really missed anything by fixing the timeline and thats disappointing to me usually these types of stories have like a DANGIT!!!!! feeling to them similarly to course: oblivion that just felt not there like what did we really learn seeing these characters do all of this stuff lol not much

7 futures end - the writing of this one always feels so expired and dated to me it makes me wince, love the costumes and some scenes here and there but not a fan of the plot, opening scene of janeway playing tennis is epic, i dont have a lot of positive notes for this one im sorry little ones, the dialogue is stinky no good the earth humans all feel like cariactures in their exaggerations because they have to stand out as being “dated humans” against our protags but it makes them feel so inorganic to me lmao BE NORMAL, its a plus that it isnt a borg plot to me but these eps were too early in the series for that lol, birth of ponytail janeway (if u dont count basics or threshold) positive, another cheap way of getting the emh a huge upgrade lmao but i respect it because if theyd “organically” made his holo emitter itd be one of those OP technological advancements that would break the universe with how much it could do, i would take these eps over the bell riot eps 🙄

8 equinox - honestly dont even like these eps very much but they feel more in character than scorpion does lmao, the more alien shaped fellas in this one serve a purpose in their shape and how it likely served to dehumanize them to the equinox crew in order to excuse their usage (positive), when janeway gets a chance to cancel someone for violating starfleet protocol she POUNCES (except when its her), janeway and chakotay back to morchaeling their enemies by fake fighting with each other all is right in the universe, i like the idea behind these eps a lot but the execution kinda fizzled out and lost itself (i think about the emh switcharoo in particular felt out of focus lol), i think janeway wanting to kill a captain who cracked under the same pressure shes been living under for ease is so epic SLAY QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9 scorpion - i really consider this two parter to be the downfall of the series, not entirely because of seven of nine but in how heavily it pivots the series into avenues more directly associated with the other series and the alpha quadrant itself, ive always really disliked how janeway is written in these episodes and how awkwardly it contradicts her choices made in Equinox AND YET her and chakotay manage to “fight” in both instances lmao, conceptually i like the idea behind a species capable of defeating the borg but i hate the visual route they went with them like star treks staple is humanoid and i dont like them lmao, at the end of day what janeway chooses to do is funny and i dont fault her for it but it all feels a little contrived for the sake of drama and getting a borg girl new cast member lol, like if you look at year of hell it seems like chakotay should have been the one advocating for the borg alliance,,, heck look at the ep ALLIANCES like thats chakotay being a kazon apologist as well ://// i love the scenes of them in these eps i love the drama but it all feels unearned to me

10 dark frontier - i feel like i always fall asleep watching this one lmao i have nothing constructive to say you lost me at borg

We did the RIP tour at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando last Friday night for the second year in a row and it was just soooo much fun!!!!! We had such a good night. It’s a bit expensive, but I honestly recommend it. It’s so worth it. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do HHN any other way ever again lol

The food from the buffet was still kind of mid compared to last year, not gonna lie. I hear Hollywood has a better selection. But the experience was less hectic feeling than last year. They seem like they’re dealing with that issue a little better because there was way less people in La Bamba while we were there so it was quieter and a bit more relaxing. I really only ate the black beans and rice though because like I said, buffet is not the best (which is crazy for how much you’re paying for the experience but whatever I guess).

The only thing I tried of the themed HHN food was the Mini Stay-Puft S’more because it was recommended to me and it was not great. It didn’t even look good, which is one of the big reasons people want to buy it is because it’s “Instagramable” but they didn’t even cook my marshmallow enough for it to melt the chocolate!!! 3/10 :(

The only other things I had wanted to try were a couple alcoholic drinks they had but I forgot lol

Our tour guide’s name was Jay and he was really cool. In between houses and scare-zones, he talked with us and a couple other people about wrestling, which is always fun to find other people out in the wild who are fans. One of the guys in our group met Cody Rhodes, which was cool. Anyway, yeah our tour guide was really informative. Like not only telling us like the basic shit that most guides probably tell their groups but he sprinkled in a lot more little fun-facts and secrets than our guy did last year :) if we can’t get people to do a private tour with us next year, we’ll probably end up requesting him again because he was really good.

The medieval scare-zone was our favorite, for sure. It was also the biggest scare-zone this year. The costumes were just really cool and their set pieces were the best. The king and queen were truly serving cunt, as they say. The Florida one also seemed like it would’ve been pretty cool too, but it was raining when we walked through so none of the actors were out. The Blumhouse one was the worse. Like no effort put into it at all which is crazy because when they’ve done The Purge it’s always got pretty good set pieces. But anyway, at least Megan was there all night and you didn’t have to go looking for her and you can take pictures with her :) even though last year, the flash mob thing was fun lol but the other one, I don’t even remember what is was called, that’s near the Bourne show, was also pretty neat. I really like the costumes in that scare-zone probably the best actually.

The Nightmare Fuel show this year was amazing!!! I’ve only seen the show twice (this year and last lol) and it was so much better than last year. It was so good. I honestly recommend going to see it if you can because it was probably my favorite part of the whole night. You just have to make sure you kind of get in line a little early because it gets really busy.

I pretty much liked all of the houses this year for different reasons (which I’ll talk about each house separately in a second, no spoilers!!!) except for one. If you don’t know about the RIP tour, you literally get to skip the entire line, which is amazing and why you want to do the tour. I’ve been to HHN a few times previously without fast passes and with them, and this is honestly just so much better of an experience. I remember going with different groups of people on different occasions and waiting like 3/4 hours for one house when I went without fast passes (The Shining and the first Stranger Things house lol) and it sucked, it ruined the whole night tbh fast passes are definitely good if you don’t want to spend money on the RIP tour because it does really cut down on time, but I’m at a point in life where I just don’t want to go to something like NNH and have to wait anymore lol

Anyway here are my thoughts on the houses :)

> A Quiet Place was really cool!!! It’s based off of the first two movies, which I have never seen but I am now kind of interested in watching them. It’s definitely going to be the quietest house you go into, I mean, the name!!! Our tour guide said they used a lot more ambient noises in this house than others as well as noise canceling panels throughout the house to really give it that quiet but creepy feeling. And honestly, most of the guests walking through are not making much noise either. Like I was kind of afraid to make noise because the one time I accidentally did (a piece of fabric from the ceiling hit me in the face during a dark part) the noise from that creature was like immediately in my ear lol but yeah it was really cool. I really liked it

> Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was one of my favorites but it is not scary at all, which usually there’s one of them. It was just fun. They did really good with the set design of the house. I haven’t seen Frozen Empire but ghost entity thing they’re fighting in it is a creepy little guy for sure. Definitely do this one, but don’t do it for the scares!!!

> Insidious: The Further was probably the scariest house. I’ve never seen any of the movies so it probably really wasn’t as scary as it could’ve been but it still got me a couple times. My soon-to-be sister-in-law said she had to close her eyes half way through. I’m pretty sure it was this house (sorry I can’t remember like anything) but I fucking hate mannequin rooms and this one has TWO!!!!!!! The first HHN I went to was with The Shining which had a mannequin room and I ran into one of the mannequins and then immediately got jump scared by a person in the same room lol

> Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines (☝️) was the one house I didn’t like which is really unfortunate because I wanted to like it so bad. It is supposedly the first house that has an all-women cast and crew. I mean, like it was cool. I think it’s like the only house that has narration as you walk through it. But yeah, it just wasn’t really that good in opinion, I don’t know.

> Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America was a good one. There are three different monsters you encounter in this house and there is a crazy puppet in here!!! I also can’t remember if it is this one (which I’m pretty sure it is) or the Ghostbuster house (which ever house has the fire station in it) but yeah, supposedly it has the biggest set piece that they’ve ever built! I can’t remember how big it is but it’s big!!! This one also kind of had a bit of narration, I believe, but it was different than Universal Monsters.

> Slaughter Sinema 2 was my favorite house!!! It was so much fun!!! I never went through the first house so this was really neat. Our tour guide told us that something some people miss is that in the first house, you went right, but in this house, you’re going left because you’re seeing different movies :) he also said that this series of houses are a way for HHN to test ideas and the ones that gather the most attention or whatever may become their own houses eventually. The first Slaughter Sinema produced two yeti themed houses (one of which was last year and one of our favorites!!) but yeah, it was fun. I recommend doing this house if you can!!!

> The Museum: Deadly Exhibits was the first house we went into and I honestly cannot remember anything from it.

> Major Sweets Candy Factory was gross!!!!! I lied, this was my least favorite house LOL it was gross. I hated it. But besides my own personal feelings, it was a well-done house and it was interactive! There are red buttons throughout the house you can push to have something done to the person in front of you, behind you, or yourself!!! You never know!!! I was walking behind my tour guide in this house and he looked back at me and was like “press that button” and me, an intellectual, pressed the button. Nothing crazy happened but it got me with a puff of air, so stupid :(

> Goblin's Feast is one I definitely recommend, especially to you fantasy nerds. I think this might have been the house that really got me, with a dumb puppet I was looking directly at. But anyway, this house just had really good costumes and set pieces as well as some crazy puppets. This house and Universal Monsters are both in the new tents they made this year :)

> Triplets of Terror was kind of dumb idk the set design of this house was good. It had a ton of little details but I was so confused going into it because the way my tour guide had explained the premise of the house, I thought these triplets were like some demonic entities that were children that came back every year on their birthday to kill a family but nope I was wrong and just more confused than anything while walking through lol

But yeah, we had a really good time this year. Even though it kind of rained on us, the weather was a lot nicer this year. Last year it was just so hot and humid and they had so much of that fake smoke, I was dying mid-way through the night. This year was just nice :)

Plus we ended the night with a wish coming true in finding Shotzi through the fog!!! I think she is so cool and it was so cool to meet her in person. I was too nervous to ask her for a picture but I shook her hand :)

Anyway, yeah. I recommend the RIP tour!!!

Opinions on Rose's Ravager outfits? Personally I always feel like she gets screwed over when it comes to outfits. I thought her original outfit was bland, but I'd rather have that than the weird pirate motif DC keeps putting onto her now.

anyways overall i agree her costumes are usually bad. they either dont really fit her vibe or theyre boring or they have way too much going on. there are only a handful that i actually consider Good and most of them are really bad or just kinda nothing

this one falls into the bland category and its just.... not good. like the boob window is so unnecessary, i dont like the mask, and the colors are so nothing, and every detail sucks. i like the boots tbh but other than that. bad.

i like this because it takes some of the good aspects of the other one and keeps them, but then makes it all a lil brighter and gives some more orangey accents. i wish she didnt have the mask at all, i hate it. but when she does have the mask i prefer it when her hair is sticking out the bottom, i dont like it when its all tucked in like in the first pic

i fucking love this costume, i think this is actually one of my favorites of hers. i think it combines costume + armor really well, and i think that the color scheme really suits her. the art in this book was so fucking pretty and she looked so good every time she showed up. the unfortunate part was every other aspect of this book :/

her worst look: literally fucking terrible no redeeming qualities

girl take that shit off right fucking now i cant be seen with you wearing this. there is not a single part of this fit that looks good. i said the color scheme looked good in the last costume bc the red was kept to accents. there is so much red going on here and thats FAR from the worst part. lets go from head to toe. that mask is literally a travesty, i dont know who thought it was a good idea. the weird collar thing she has going on is so????? then she has the skulls on her shoulder pads, which are bad enough on their own. and why does she have a bazooka on her back. and why does she only have a skull on one knee?????? this is a fucking mess. kory attacks her on sight in this book and i fully believe its because this costume is so ugly she couldnt hold herself back. um. i like the fingerless gloves though i guess

rebirth: hesitant slay...

i hate the mask but other than that its?? fine???? this one used to be my favorite but i dont really like it as much anymore, idk why. i think its trying too hard to be armor and casual at the same time and ends up not looking good. i hate this mask soooo much though, i think the weird thing going on with her eyes makes this the second worst mask behind whatever was going on in the last one. and like you said i think this one relies too much on the pirate motif??? like i appreciate the reference to the eyepatch i guess but i would rather they just give her an eyepatch. like the skulls and the pirate thing seems way out of place and doesnt fit her vibe or the outfits vibe at all and it just looks weird. but other than that this look is. Fine.

defiance: eh

this one isnt technically ravager either but its still a rose costume so im rating it. its very ,,,, fine. like i dont have any problems with it but there isnt anything i particularly like about it. the whole point of the white costumes in this arc was because they were supposed to look wrong and out of place and all so i cant fault it for that, but theres just not really anything going on here its fine for what it is and thats all i can really say about it

i love this one, probably another one of my favorites. once again the black with red accents suits her so well. and the artist draws it so it doesnt even seem that horny despite the fact that its a lace up crop top and booty shorts <3 she looks so nice and i love the fit thats my girl (gn) ❣️❣️

two screenshots just to point out the fact that she changes costumes halfway through this issue and i want to bully her for it. but this one is nice, its really simple but i think it works, plus shes drawn like an actual adult instead of a 15 year old so i cant complain <3 the skull imagery is very small and doesnt seem to piratey so i still dont love it but i forgive it. this costume is pretty good and i like it overall, its one of her better costumes

My Ramblings: Hey, this all looks familiar! Anyways, I like sword gag. Obviously guys it was in a couch, open your minds. It's also interesting to see Sashi not having wings like in the Pilot, I guess now we can infer what happened because we know she has them the next time they're in the Knight World.

I like to smash bits of the Pilot in this episode in my head, with the Boone being exception of course... and also the other stuff going in Zap One.

Ok, the zapping. They still do come out of a static background, but the Pilot's just looks so different.

Get the banging intro we all love and the iconic title cards!

Zooming on the family picture doesn't hurt at all. Nope, not all. It's interesting to show no snow on Christmas Eve, but that can happen in a lot of places, I really like that decision. Sashi beating the fake reindeer making look like snow? Gold.

But I've got to say, starting with a holiday episode is... unusual. I personally wouldn't have, but I'm not saying it had to be Zap One. It's just that not everyone likes holiday or Christmas episodes. I'm also upset we never got a Halloween episode.

I wonder why we didn't see the MUHU used in the Pilot, perhaps it wasn't a thing? I doubt it. I enjoy Brock and Vonnie every time they're on screen, funny and such great parents, even from afar! Like that they left a record video. Poor Penn, just wants see his parents so bad on Christmas, they're first Christmas apart. Also for a quick second we see that the MUHU charging deck thingy is broken. I wonder why? Genuinely, why? Was it The Chinchilla?

Our first introduction to Aunt Rise and Uncle Chuck (and of course The Chinchilla). I don't mind them, not my favorites. But don't mind. They're quirky.

Phyllis is queen. She's slaying in that candy cane costume. And she's already being supportive with Penn. You need a prom date? Phyllis has got you. MUHU broken beyond repair? She tried.

I would have a mental breakdown if I tried avoiding Christmas like the plague only to be zapped into Santa of all people! Like what are the odds? It's like the universe knows or something.

I just realized we never got a "check the specs" in the Pilot! Dang. Also, you can hear bells when her specs are displaying the mission.

Penn helping Boone calm down is sweet. Also, the "Okay, I'm gonna pet you now, but not in a weird way." Line will never not be funny, so many quotable lines in this show. I'm like a parrot.

Also, was the head in a box a reference to the movie Seven? If so, it's a very interesting pick for a reference for a kids' show.

Did they get Adam Levine for his screaming? I think that's a possibility.

Mr. Snowman...

I do like the rogue gingerbread men, but I wonder if Rippen being Krampus was at least considered. It always bugged me when I first watched this. Goat Rippen would have been too much for anyone to handle, I suppose.

The candy and Christmas weaponry is fun and creative. Larry cannibalizing himself is very Larry. I, too, would have a nibble on at least one of my fingers.

I like that Mr. Snowman just assumed the MUHU was broken. He doesn't know a damn thing about it and yet already being manipulative. I like that Penn is allowed to be a bit selfish. It makes sense, most of the time, it's because of his parents. He desperately wants them back or at least able to see and talk to them. Love me some good character flaws!

Surprise! The snowman with an ominous voice was bad! Although, it is surprising that Rippen decided to team up with anyone. I guess he probably sees Mr. Snowman as easy to take out, it's not that hard as we see later on. (Snow) Man literally took his whole heart out and almost died for a bit.

The face Penn makes when he says the whole ruining Christmas for eternity is gonna bother him for awhile is great. So many great faces on this show.

The first song of the show! Also forgot the Pilot didn't have a song... good. I don't wanna hear that Boone sing. He's not an angel like ours. I used don't not like his singing, but it grew on me. Pretty good song. Everyone is good at singing. I like that the breakout fails, like you really thought a candy cane would work as a key? Jokes land so much better than the Pilot (sorry I keep bringing that up).

So there's just one gingerbread woman? Like a smurfette? Also, Rippen, my goodness! One (gingerbread) woman and already be acting up. It's just a tiny bit but still funny, I like the idea that he can't keep it in his pants sometimes. He's gotta come off as suave to anyone watching.

Also weird that gingerbread people just eat steak and mashed potatoes... not very Christmas-like, guys, and woman.

"You've looked cooler." Sashi delivers that in such a way that it can be such a low blow to whoever she's saying it to (Penn).

Would've loved to see a drama class. That would've been a Boone episode, a Boone-isode!

Creative way to escape, using Santa lore. I wonder what it felt like to be tube-shaped for a few seconds. I'm sure that would feel good on my back until I cry from pain.

First instance of Arnold Schwarzenegger voice Boone.

"Man, that guy can talk." Sashi, that man is your principal. Your lucky he ain't evil.

Yep, he's a snowman... what was he gonna do? Snowball them? Man them- nevermind.

AAHHH! Rippen jumpscare! Oh no- is his bowtie made of anything? Like licorice or something? Or is it just a bowtie?

I'll never find it funny that in some Santa media set in modern times, they're still making older toys like made out of wood and stuff. Anyways, love the fight between Penn and Rippen using the toys as weapons. Very fun and creative.

I love it when Rippen tries to use Penn's interest against him, the MUHU in this case. But no, Penn is better than that.

Did Rippen feel anything when he broke or does it not hurt? Either way, falling down at that velocity must have been terrifying. First instance of Larry eating Rippen... yep, not the first!

Also, the first use of the Wilhelm Scream! They love that scream.

He made a hard choice, but thankfully, it paid off in two ways. Completing the mission and getting your MUHU fixed by Santa because of it. What was that one quote? "A true act of goodwill always sparks another." (Whoever gets that, have a cookie)

Also like that it implies Santa doesn't like gingerbread, perhaps because gingerbread people work for him?

An all around good Christmas episode, usually my least favorite kind.

~The Characters~

Penn Zero: This Penn and Pilot Penn while similar, feel very different in delivery.

Like I said already, I like Penn feeding into his self-interest. We always understand why he does and acts like he does, he's a good person with flaws. Flaws that are so human.

Boone Wiseman: Oh Boone, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I can't believe we almost didn't have this you! So much more funnier and nicer. Our lovable buffoon. Even going out to make skateboard sleds for his friends! And a failed roller-skate skis that he actually never made, but it's the thought that counts.

He's funny but still takes some seriousness with his job. Especially at the end.

Sashi Kobayashi: Violent as ever! But cares deeply about Penn's troubles. I also enjoyed when she just conked Larry and that elf in the head.

Rippen: Not a whole lot to say for him in this episode. He was funny and growly as usual. It's still interesting that he teamed up with someone as we'll see in Number One Number Two. Yes, I know, I'm Still Super. But that's different as we'll also see

Larry: He really doesn't have much to do besides eating himself. Which, good for him, he makes a good point, they'll never be that delicious again.

Dimension(s): I like the look of the mountaintop north pole base, which is a very cool take on Santa's workshop. It's more like a military base than anything.

Forms: Reindeer Boone is the best, sorry. He's adorable, I like his physicality. Everyone else did good, but they'll never be Reindeer Boone.
