I'm yapping about some sonic shit i came up with (maybe a fangame if i actually knew how to game develop but im learning)

Okay so everybody knows and loves shadow right? and then there's Shadows shadow who every one knows is Mephiles and Mephiles doesn't get shit from Sega.

Yeah he might be in some games but that's just as playable skins and makes cameos every now and then (correct me if im wrong). His main role as an antagonist went to one of the worst Sonic games in history and I personally believe that he deserves something better than that.

HE'S SUPER COOL

He was a big bad who was a sun god split in half like how cool is that? And his design was fucking awesome, like look at this:

Even just by looking at him you're like "This guy is up to no good" cause he's so evil and icy looking which is the opposite of Iblis (still evil looking but fire related instead)

Now I don't give a flying FUCK that this guy is canonically dead, it's Sonic 06 so nothing is canon (aside from the managing to actually kill sonic part, i wanna keep that in)

You rn: "Okay pump the brakes yapfest, the tags promised me sonadow and rouge the bat. What do they have to with Mii-files."

Me: "SsssshHHshHSHsHHHHHHHhhhh. I getting to that."

Now imagine this with me Rouge stans,

EVIL ROUGE

Rouge is a boss bitch who's such an under-used concept in Sonic games and she deserves a game when she's the STAR and not on the sidelines.

Like you can't be serving this much cunt and just be a side character

So Mephiles was named after Mephistopheles who's a german demon guy (either that or Mephitis which is poison gas from swamps and volcanos and stuff) So why not give evil Rouge a name that'll make half the christian population angry? (And to the chill christians who're fine with that, you guys are cool i like you guys)

So I was thinkin: "Hmmmmmmmmmm. Rouge wants the chaos emeralds for her own gain and cause they look pretty. I mean that would sit her somewhere under Envy (cause she WANTS that shit, also im not calling her mammon(greed) or belphegor (sloth)) so that's Leviathan. I would have to re-name her into something that still lets you know 'yeah that's rouge' but also lets you know 'that's not our rouge' so I guess I'll make it Levia (Leh-vee-ah) or Levia (Leh-v-eye-ah)" (ya'll choose which pronounciation ya'll like)

THE STORY OR SOMETHING

So Levia and Mephiles are like "Okay, brother we ain't having that shit, time to kill everyone" for no reason (my excuse is cause I haven't figured it out yet)

Sonadow fans: "LIAR"

Me: "FINE I'LL EXPLAIN THE SONADOW PART"

SONADOW SEGMENT

Everybody knows how fruity they were in Prime and the fact that Sonic (sort of) HUGGED Shadow and he was just like "yep this is happening" and didn't force Sonic to take his hand away like in the past was a dead giveaway

Now obviously they're still arch enemies (what's he arching? his back? okay I'm done I'll get back to explaining) but they would obviously be closer after the past 23 YEARS that they've been fighting. And everyone knows that when it comes to fighting each other they don't hesitate (I mean maybe Sonic does) but then an even bigger evil shows up (Mephiles for example) and they work together.

EXAMPLES:

Nines in Prime (Working together to get their univese back)

Black Doom (Stopping Shadows evil dad from killing all of humanity)

Mephiles and Iblis (Trying to stop them from forming Solaris)

Eggman in fucking everything

Okay I'm out of examples since I know Sonic stuff but im not THAT much of a nerd

So yap yap yap, yada yada yada, they gay

BACK TO THE STORY OR SOMETHING

Levia and Mephiles build a giant evil omega (no i'm not calling him Alpha or Beta, im tired of those jokes) who is basically as big as eggmans death egg in the 2nd movie (but like half the size since he still needs to go everywhere with Levia and Mephiles)

He doesn't actually fight or that would be unfair so he just puts his arms around the battlefield, smacks them down every now and then to shake the ground and keep you on your toes and just sits there.

Now for obvious reasons, Mephiles changes his form a little since he can't look like Shadow forever and learns how to sustain himself without Iblis and fights like a champ but Levia is like "Dude, we can't do nothing without the chaos emeralds if we want to destroy this world and it's meaningless purpose" and Mephiles is like "Ight" and that's as far as I've gotten

It's interesting that you've run into more Sonic '06 defenders as of late, because I think I've noticed the same thing. I've been thinking about why that is for a hot minute, and I wonder if it has to do with just how awful the video game industry is at the moment.

Games come out polished sometimes nowadays, but normally they're catastrophically broken on release and take months of post-launch patches to become somewhat playable, if they get those patches at all. Perhaps younger fans of the Sonic series, having grown up in this environment, go back to play Sonic 06', see all of its bugs and bad game design decisions, and think "Wait, that's it? That's not even the worst game I've played this week."

That is, it's less that Sonic '06 is suddenly good now, it absolutely is not, but more that the bar has sunken so deep into hell that even a blatantly broken game like Sonic '06 doesn't look particularly bad in comparison to what comes out now, so they miss the context of why it was so controversial on release.

This is an old ask that got buried, but I think it's still relevant, and to me it's just...

Liking something ironically is the path to liking it unironically. Maybe that means you're being honest with yourself, or maybe it's just familiarity. That happens with music -- so much so that there's an article from the National Library of Medicine about it. The more familiar you are with music, even if it's a song you hate, the more you eventually begin to enjoy it. It's a scientific fact.

And Sonic 06 became something of a rite of passage. Everyone knows about it, either because they've played it for themselves or they've watched someone else play some (or all) of it. Everyone has their favorite moments. Whether it's

The Winder of a Shoemaker typo (it should be "Wonder")

The inevitable realization you have to save manually after getting your first game over in Wave Ocean

Having to reload the entire world every time the state of anything changes

Sonic's boss fight with Silver, and "It's no use!"

I'll say it again and again and again, but it's the Rocky Horror Picture Show effect. When that movie came out, it was not beloved by the mainstream! But it became notorious as a midnight movie where the rowdy graveyard shift audience would heckle the picture, transforming it into something that was fun to watch (and participate in).

And the more they watched it, the more they heckled it, the more people realized that maybe they actually love the movie. And now it's this big, important cultural touchstone.

That's Sonic 06. Let's do the time warp again.

Okay, I'm gonna think out loud here, and probably read WAAAAY too much into things. Again.

So. Episode 4 of the series. The rock opera--that was pretty awesome, really--Wade assumes the role of Knuckles and is walked through the 'history' of the echidna's past. Which was not accurate, in any way, shape, or form.

And it also had little tidbits of Wade's life, such as Jack as the narrator, the whole thing being held in a bowling alley, and "Iblis" talking about "hitting up Marketplace".

What if the whole fever dream rock opera wasn't to show Knuckles' warrior path, but Wade's?

It shows "Knux" and his father fighting side by side against the owls. I went back and rewatched that bit and there seemed to be 10 owls--the same number as pins in a bowling game. "Knuckles" and his father fighting the owls could symbolize Wade and his father going bowling together.

But then the owls took "Knuckles'" father. Just like bowling took Wade's.

Now "Knuckles" is alone and faced with threats and dangers he can't defeat as he is. He needed to get stronger.

Wade was alone and couldn't defeat the things he had been facing--feelings of rejection, and abandonment.

So "Knuckles" trained to defeat this great enemy, one that seemed ready to take the echidna down until he discovered his greatest strength was in his heart, not his fists.

Wade isn't a fighter. But he has a strong heart. And he stood up to dangers he never thought he could before. Including his father.

"Iblis" could be a representation of either the negative feelings Wade developed after Pete left, or it could represent Pete himself. And in the end, Wade defeated it, with Knuckles' help.

Now, I don't know how Pachacamac fits into this. I do not trust that shifty spirit, and think there's something more at play than we know. There has to be a reason he told Knux to train Wade specifically.

Wade's . . . well, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He's trusting and easily manipulated, and not exactly someone you would choose to represent your fallen warrior race.

So, what if Knuckles isn't the Iblis trigger, but Wade is.

In a separate post I theorized that Sonic may have sent the chaos emeralds back in time, and one could have ended up being the bowling trophy that Pete has his grubby little mitts on.

What if, over the course of things, Wade somehow got Iblis trapped inside him, and that's why he's always been such a happy-go-lucky guy. He can't get upset. He can't get angry. He can't cry. Something in the back of his mind tells him that it would be bad if he did. So he doesn't.

He essentially has this monster lurking inside him, holding all the bad feelings he won't allow himself to recognize.

We don't know how the whole Iblis thing works in the SCU. Knuckles' sudden flame powers could be connected to Iblis, or they could be something separate. We don't know.

Pachacamac is up to something. And I don't think it bodes well for Wade.

Hi, Mystery! After watching the Knuckles show, I’m a little lost on what that whole “Flames of Disaster” business was about or what Iblis is because I never played ‘06 and don’t know much about it. Is the Flames of Disaster a special power that only Knuckles can do?

Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered! Older Sonic titles are a bit hard to come by these days. I promise you that it’s not the end of the world if you haven’t played ‘06 yet. I’m terribly sorry for taking so long on this ask. Sonic ‘06 has a lot of details and I was trying to narrow down the important details.

In terms of video game canon, Iblis is the raw power from the result of the sun god Solaris, as well as the energy known for mass destruction. The entity was born from the “Solaris Project”; the goal was for the Duke of Soleanna and his team of scientists to harness and control time. The project went haywire and Iblis split. It formed himself and Mephilis the Dark. What remained of Iblis was sealed away in the Duke’s daughter. Iblis is a fierce and aggressive monster that was unleashed by the Duke’s daughter through her tears—which were caused by Sonic dying—and spread across the world.

As for SCU, it seems to be a monster that Knuckles fights and claims its power solely. Knuckles had to earn his power in order to be who he is today, unlike Sonic. It seems to be that in this continuation it’s an ability that Knuckles can master. The problem that many of us—and myself included—are having with this Easter egg is that we’re trying to figure out what Iblis is in this universe. Anything is quite possible with this version and its interpretation.

If we’re applying game-canon logic to Knuckles, then yeah! He’s more than likely cursed with the flames sealed inside of him like Princess Elise was. If not, then Sonic theorist are going to have a field day solving the fire monster’s role in this universe. Right now, we’re trying to figure out how and why this applies to SCU canon. It’s more than likely a power that our lovable warrior echidna can harness only. Unless, you know, this is debunked in the future. For now, it seems to be a mystical-like beast that Knuckles slayed to claim its power. The Flames of Disaster is an ability that he can control.

Although I will say that IF Sonic 4 is green-lit to go, then I think that our chances of seeing Silver and Blaze appear are pretty high.

15. Have you noticed your style change over time?

Yes, very much! My earliest works definitely have a bunch of mistakes that are often seen in first-time writers: head-hopping, having multiple people talk in one paragraph, unclarity about who is talking when... It's things I've definitely become more mindful of over the past 4 years. And also my sentence structure was quite different: I personally find it rather unreadable XD Very long and twimsty and flowing, with HUGE paragraphs all after the other and zero breaks between them. I still do the long sentences thing, but I do try to put in shorter sentences as well, haha! Having shorter paragraphs to break things up looks a lot better to me personally. But I am definitely still developing; I'm taking a small writing course right now, actually! And then I promptly found out that my creative writing in Dutch is abysmal XD

Face hardening Silver glares the other hedgehog down, one fist balling and his body tensing into a battle pose. He’d been clear about it: he’d rescue the girl and then kill the Iblis Trigger. And now, it is finally time. He’ll save the past and the future and his world will become just as gorgeous and happy as this one.

Except Sonic raises one eyebrow, places a hand on his hip, and leans to the side almost casually.

“Go for it, then.”

“Prepare yourself,” Silver growls back, anger curling in his chest. How dare Sonic not take this seriously, after everything he’s said to make the Iblis Trigger’s fate clear…! Fist balling he drifts his eyes over the other’s body. Sonic’s neck, he can snap that… Or a blow to the chest, or maybe the head. Or he can just tear the other apart in full, that won’t take even a second, or just strike him with any item around, or fling him against the massive marble walls of the palace, or throw him to his death off the terrace, or…

Or…!

Silver’s fingers tremble.

He bites his lip.

He raises his fist.

He narrows his eyes.

A glow of cyan struggles to be called forth.

A hesitance he so desperately tries to push down rises up in his mind.

A feeling of wrongness and tenseness and no, it cannot go like this entraps his body.

“I,” Silver speaks, hand straining only more. “I- You’re done for. I’ll kill you, the world will be safe-!”

Sonic stands with his usual nonchalance. “Do what you must, Silver.”

“I must destroy you!” the time traveller snaps back, but his feet are frozen and his body stands unmoving and his powers refuse to listen, refuse to strike at the other…!

And that means he can’t.

And his fist drops, psychokinesis almost making him stagger as it scrambles away from his palm.

“But…” he helplessly adds, and he doesn’t know what to do with himself anymore. His purpose, everything he’d come here for…! He must, but he can’t, and that means nothing will change, but even if he wants things to change so badly, not if it has to be in this way-!

Sonic’s head tips to the side, slowly. “You can’t go through with it, huh.”

“I should! It’s for the good of the world!” Silver’s teeth bare, quills flaring again as he whirls around. His footsteps slam against the shiny stone of the terrace, the hedgehog pacing madly. But Sonic had been so kind to him, and to Elise especially, and Iblis Triggers surely can’t be like that, so good at listening and pointing out all the small details of what makes the world beautiful and concerned with helping others and always having an encouraging word or a joke at the ready and being so willing to lend a hand and-!

And the twinge of icy cold around Silver isn’t normal.

Alarm grabs at his insides.

Shadow's Secondary Verse

Otherwise known as his Dark Verse!

So, if you weren't all already aware, Shadow's Main Verse goes like this and for the most part... this stays the same. Except... Shadow takes an ending where, while he doesn't join Black Doom or destroy the planet... he doesn't really like humans all that much anymore, either.

Essentially, he takes one of the more neutral routes after having been on the dark path of the game for most of the game. As a result, while he still figures out who he is... he doesn't let go of the resentment he feels to humanity, and he went the dark route on the option where Black Doom shows him what happened on the ARK during his time with amnesia and shows Shadow how "heartless" humans are.

As a result, in this verse, Shadow is not willingly associated with G.U.N... it's more like they have him associated with them to keep an eye on him. And up until 06, he generally... behaves. He keeps to a fairly decent way of dealing with things and doesn't attempt to do anything to destroy the planet again.

However... he doesn't trust G.U.N. and as a result... when he hears the Scepter of Darkness, he goes digging for information as by now repeatedly doing good deeds have landed him in a good enough position to not be closely monitored... and he discovers without time travel... the details of the Solaris Project.

So... needless to say, when Mephiles makes his pitch for Shadow to join him when he voids his return ticket... he agrees when he sees Mephiles showing him imprisoned again. It's not instant, and he's decently skeptical... at least until because Shadow actually looks like he's considering it, Mephiles reveals that Omega, a member of Team Dark, and while a robot, someone he'd grown to trust... is the one who seals him away. And that is based on the imagery of his imprisonment... Rouge hadn't done anything to help him either.

I'd love to say this still otherwise follows 06 canon... except it really doesn't. Once Shadow agrees to join him, Mephiles explains his full plan to Shadow on what he wants. He wants to fuse back with Iblis, but his other half is sealed in the princess who must either cry or die in order to release Iblis. By which Mephiles planned on using some of the Chaos Emeralds to fuse back and become Solaris again, and then make the world pay for what they had done to Mephiles and Iblis by splitting Solaris into two pieces. Mephiles also tells him to lay low. As this wouldn't work if they saw it coming. This is mostly how I wrangle in 06 canon some. Shadow gets the new Scepter of Darkness and chases Omega down to Wave Ocean, where Omega re-reveals that he seals Shadow. Only... Rouge's line about standing with him doesn't really land like it does in the original. Rouge chalks it up to Shadow needing time to process the revelation.

When we get to Dusty Desert, there's still a full boss fight, but Mephiles holds back just slightly to "lose" the fight. And when Shadow brings out the Scepter... Mephiles initially thinks he's about to be turned on and betrayed, but at the very last minute, Shadow breaks it again and incapacitates Omega and knocks out Rouge.

Mephiles and Shadow leave the Desert, and, unlike 06 canon events, Sonic realizes there's an attack coming from behind and jumps out of the way, but... Mephiles wasn't the one making the move this time and is instead the distraction. As it's Shadow who finishes things off by killing Sonic and then before others can react, does the same to Elise once Iblis is released from her body. Killing the daughter of the heartless human who split Solaris painfully apart to serve his own selfish ends.

Just as Rouge comes in to warn everyone that Shadow is not their ally anymore. Amy and Rouge both try to sway Shadow back to their side, but it doesn't work as Shadow tells them all what the princess had been complicit in as she'd been present when the God that Soleanna worships, Solaris, was split painfully into two pieces (this is also where Silver arrives), the bad future they see isn't because of some Iblis trigger, but a result of Iblis being released all while Mephiles was still sealed away within the Scepter. And the breaking of that Scepter is why this one will be different.

When Rouge brings up that she'd stand with him against the world, Shadow ruthlessly says she's a liar. He'd seen what happened to him in the future and said that if she'd stand with him against the world... why was he still imprisoned in the future and forced back into stasis? Rouge and Omega could have both stopped that. Sonic and the others could have stopped it... but no. They sided with heartless, selfish humanity and allowed him to be imprisoned again as a scapegoat for humanity's failure and greed instead of trying to help the being of flames find his other half.

Mephiles tries to fuse with only 2 emeralds, and it doesn't work, and before they can find the others... Eggman reveals that Solaris is a transcendent being and exists in past present and future all at once... and that Solaris will eradicate everything.

This leads to a Last Story style rush where Knuckles and co all gather the emeralds and, in true Knuckles fashion as he did it with the Master Emerald, he breaks them into tiny shards which scatter across the entire world. As Knuckles bids the Master Emerald to have them do so. That way, they can't be easily gathered to be put back together.

All because they no longer have Sonic. Sure, the others could go super, too... but if they brought the emeralds all together at once, Shadow was the only one equal to Sonic's speed and able to use them to the same degree as Sonic. And could easily overpower them all and take them from them to then use them to fuse Mephiles and Iblis back together.

Shadow is frustrated and somewhat conflicted and still plenty hurt from knowing that even though they have no idea of if what Eggman says is true at all that they're still trusting Eggman's word and choosing to fight and prevent a broken God from returning to normal and so siding in front of him with humanity, but he doesn't hold back against them. Though he doesn't kill them, either. Team Dark is hard for him to face, as is Amy. And he does throw a line at Rouge about so much for you being with me against the world at least once. As time passes, Silver can't remain in the past, Shadow is immortal, just like Mephiles, and they've attempted to gather the shards, but after finding a couple, Knuckles had the Master Emerald deactivate the emeralds on top of them being shattered. Making detecting them even more difficult and useless until they can restore them. As Knuckles was sure to hide the Master Emerald well, this time to prevent it from being easy.

As it stands on the current time of this verse, Shadow has been alive for 200+ years and with Mephiles' help, has been gathering the shards in between having killed the other survivors of the Solaris Project and looking for where Knuckles hid the Master Emerald after the Echidna himself died since he's not immortal like Shadow. The only ones left fighting back against the duo are Omega, Silver, and Blaze... and Omega is on his last legs, so it's soon to be just Silver and Blaze.

My thoughts on the Knuckles series

I want to preface this by saying that if you haven't watched the series yourself and have the means to do so, I suggest watching it yourself and forming your own opinions on the series. The episodes are about 25-30 mins long, so it should take about 3 hours. But if you'd rather give the show a pass, I understand, especially given that so many people have given rather mixed reviews on the series. I don't think I have much to say that hasn't already been said, but I thought I'd share my personal thoughts on the series.

I will be discussing spoilers in this post, though I won't be breaking apart the plot per se. I just want to discuss some thoughts on the series, good and bad, since I know some people have been very harsh on this series. And as a disclaimer, these are personal opinions rather than outright critiques.

For a tldr rating though, I'd give the series like...6.5/10?

Things I Liked

I really enjoyed the plot of the first episode or so. The scenes with the Wachoski family was probably some of my favourites for the series, even if only brief. I wasn't sure that they would include the other characters, so it was nice to see most of them. I wasn't super keen on the GUN agents necessarily, but I thought their story parts were the most enjoyable. I enjoyed watching Wade scheme to save him and immediately fumble the bag, but ultimately sort of recreate his plan? I also appreciated him using the siracha to free himself from the GUN agent since it was starting to wear a little that he seemed utterly incompetent - more on that later.

I once again appreciate the references to the Sonic universe. I only really noticed the Knuckles hat (which if I'm not mistaken is a reference to the OVA cartoon?), but I also saw someone mention Sonic 06 before watching it, which helped me recognise the reference to the game (both Knuckles' power and the creature that I assumed to be Iblis). I also saw a Reddit post pointing out that the alien attack mentioned by the bowling tournament announcers took place 50 years ago, which could be a reference towards Shadow, but it's not outright stated to be that.

The animation was surprisingly good. Part of me thought the animation quality would be off, but it was more or less on par with the movies from what I could see. Some scenes were a little off, but I can't really fault it since they're trying to incorporate an entirely CGI creature interacting with everything, but for the most part it was awesome.

Things I Didn't Like

I think one of my bigger issues with this series was the humour. That's not to say I didn't find it funny, but the constant surreal/cringe humour eventually wears on you. It worked at the beginning because Knuckles and Wade alternated being the 'straight-man', but for the most part, the characters fell into the same 'I'm dumb' type of humour. I don't quite know how to explain what I mean by this, so I guess I'll give a few examples to illustrate what I mean.

There's Knuckles himself, whose 'stupidity' mostly comes from him not fully grasping human culture. There's also Wade Whipple, who is portrayed as an idiot or loser, something he's called by the other characters. There's Jack Sinclair who acts intimidating while still being dumb behind his seriousness, and was the kind of character that seems threatening until they're dethroned, by which time they start wailing like a baby. We see this mostly when Wade is captured and 'duels' with him, only for him to lose and plead with Wade not to take his clothes this sounds really sus out of context. I didn't particularly care for him, which made some scenes drag as Wade's story with him was being addressed, but he's more of a stepping stone character for Wade's development.

I thought Knuckles and Wade themselves were funny for the most part, but it does begin to grate a little when their goofy humour is pretty much all you get. I get that Wade is the underdog guy, but it didn't feel much like he actually grew as a person. I thought perhaps he would learn to be more self-reliant and competent, but even at the end of the series, he mostly just stalled for Knuckles. This sort of ties into the complaint a lot of people have that the series focused less on Knuckles and more on Wade, which I agree with. It was set up at the start that Knuckles was looking to find his home and purpose, but it didn't feel like that was fully explored. It was sort of implied at the end that the Whipple's were his home, but it felt like a lose end more than a solid conclusion. I also wouldn't have minded if Knuckles actually spent time training Wade, but that didn't really happen either. Most of Wade's 'development' happened away from Knuckles, which made Knuckles feel more like a bit character a lot of the time.

And then there's Wanda Whipple. I'll be honest, I really disliked her character. For the first few minutes it was fine, but the entire scene with the Whipple family dinner just felt awkward and annoying to me. It felt like I was watching two children argue, which I suppose was the point, but watching a grown woman act like a child was just uncomfortable and felt like it was dragged out for ages. I think the only scene I found her funny in was towards the end when she dislocated her thumb, but that was about it. Every other scene she was in felt unenjoyable for me, and frankly I hope she's not in the third movie at all (or if she is, please make it short).

I suppose I could sum this complain up as there being too many comedic relief characters without there being straight-man characters to balance out the chaos. The beginning worked well because Sonic, Tails and Maddie worked as straight-men for Knuckles, so it was funny to watch him be a menace since we could see everyone else's reactions. But for the rest of the series, it was mostly just silly humour. Even the 'adult' jokes weren't particularly funny to me (thinking specifically about the metal detector scene), but maybe I'm just not the right demographic for this kind of series? Who knows.

I watched the series with my dad, and I agree with his thoughts on the series. He felt it could have been done in a movie instead of having a tv series that seemed to drag on a lot. I do agree that some scenes felt like they were going on for too long, which at times felt like I wasn't even watching a Sonic series at all. I guess they want to flesh out the characters unique to the movie universe, but it felt a bit weird to have Knuckles barely involved in the plot given the series was named after him.

It's unfortunate because I think that they initially set up something interesting. I thought they'd focus on the GUN agents pursuing Knuckles, with Knuckles training Wade along the way. But the GUN story got shelved almost immediately to focus more on the bowling stuff - Wade and Jack had an awkward sword dual, and Wade had a bowling match with his dad? I honestly thought The Buyer (that ex GUN weapons guy) would be Wade's dad, but instead we randomly got introduced to Pistol Pete...I dunno, it felt weird to me. It felt like they mashed three unfinished stories together into one weird amalgamation.

I feel like they could have focused more on the GUN agents plot. Perhaps they could have clashed a few times with Knuckles and Wade, but ultimately fail over and over. Wade would have learned indirectly from his warrior training to be strong enough to defeat Jack at bowling and show his progression. The GUN agents would be replaced by The Buyer after he grows tired of waiting for them to fulfil their deal, and who would be more of a threat. While that's happening in the background, we could watch the bowling tournament with Jack losing instead, then have The Buyer crash the party like he did in the actual series. But this is all just me brainstorming what I would have done.

Anyways, those are my thoughts. It's a shame since I love the Sonic movies a lot, but I'm not too worried about Sonic 3 based on this series. Jeff Fowler (the writer for the movies) only wrote the first episode of the series, which was arguably the best episode, so I am confident that Sonic 3 will be good. Admittedly it has me a little worried, but I'm trusting them to do Shadow justice with his debut.

Ignoring Jehtt's parody for a sec

-It was 200 years of Iblis. I legit don't think there's a profit to scamming people into thinking they can save the future. 2-3 gens directly tied to the Great Disaster already are dead, and GUN seems gone too

-We already beat Iblis only to see him reincarnate again. We can already infer Silver beat him many times with no difference. In fact, he legit considers giving up in frustration

-Mephiles wouldn't even be the first suspect. Blaze's fire powers scared survivors, but Silver stood by her (sadly this is in bios)

-The intro CG cutscene notes the generational divorce from the event. No one knew where Iblis came from cuz it's been so long, only that it ravaged the planet for eons. Silver is noted to question the origin, getting nothing

So yeah, I'll take hearing this shifty stranger's new theory, cuz repeatedly killing Iblis 3 million times is doing nothing but exhaust me, regardless if I die to this stranger or not. It's not like I can make this worse (in my context)

Other things;

-Silver's reaction to Meph saying to time travel:

Not "oh yeah I immediately believe you" like 90% of parodies, it's him gauging interest after dismissing the first prompt

Even to Meph saying "Oh yeah, I can time travel" it's more dismissal (though tinged with amazement)

when Meph notes the Iblis Trigger the first time, both Blaze and him just ponder a sec before hesitating to ask if killing him would save the world, their first true mistake. But again, better than just mindlessly killing Iblis over and over

Then Meph bothers bringing articles on screen showing the Egg Carrier's crash and release of Iblis, then the Emerald showing Sonic's visage in the fire (glares slightly more angry), Blaze being perturbed cuz she knows of one, and Meph immediately time traveling them before much of anything can be said in protest

If it were me, I'd have them question how he found this info, with him revealing that he stumbled upon a Chaos Emerald that showed him the image of a blue hedgehog (which he'll show to Silver like OG, only with Sonic expressing better than wood), leading him to do research on him, and finding the article of Elise dying in a crash despite his chase. He'll then note research of time travel done in GUN logs of when they checked Eggman's base after the crash, noting the process being risky. Silver and Blaze can ask why he can't do it, which...I mean look at him, he's deformed and barely hobbling (interestingly nowhere as much as the Shadow release scene, or later twirl), likely frail as heck (we know he isn't if we the audience played Shadow's story first). He'll attract unwanted attention outside supposed fraility, vs how the powerful Blaze/Silver look a smidge more stable. They'll admit having nothing to lose/repetition, then Meph warps them

But otherwise, I feel the Silver bias is glossing events a wee bit too much, and parodies aren't helping. It's legit wanting to break useless repetition that drives most of Silver's hasty actions

"But he looks evil"

The entire world is homeless. Being remotely not brazen is an anomaly if anything (Blaze at least has an excuse)

Also what's he gonna do, jump the guy that has psychokinesis? He looks weak as hell

I still think that Silver shouldn't have jumped to follow Mephiles so easily when the latter spouted out shit about 'Chickens and eggs', especially since it seems he and Blaze just willingly follow Mephilies into his crack den of info he shouldn't have. I'm sorry, but I feel Silver just hopped on a little too quickly. If there was a scene of him and Blaze arguing with each other about going to follow, I'd buy it a lot more than it is now. However, since the cutscenes skip that moment and have Silver and Blaze immediately follow Mephiles to his crack den without thinking, it still comes across to me as Silver and Blaze being stupid, not naive.

I appreciate you trying to help clear out some aspects of this, but without the key moment of Silver and Blaze arguing about going to listen to Mephiles or not, it comes across as an idiot kid being taken by a guy with a white van to me, especially since the only time Silver stops to consider his decision is when Amy tells him to not kill Sonic and dashes off. After that, he doesn't ever really question if he's doing the right thing, and just blindly trusts the guy that showed him a vision of Sonic in fire with a really pissed off look, and not much other information besides anecdotal evidence.

I have things to say. Thoughts and closing remarks on the Knuckles show (light spoilers)

WHO TOLD THEM THIS WAS OK?

not in a fun wat but like in an actual way. It's so disheartening because this was such a good premise and the show had a great message it wanted to deliver. It had everything it needed to be a fun, feel good, nod to the fans of all ages show. All i9t was missing was a good writing staff. Ya'll the writing in this thing is ROUGH. The two main points of the show are that the power to be great is inside you and it's ok to allow yourself to be happy and have a home to return to. but they decided to go 80/20 splitsies on how much weight each plot point/message had. wade get's his whole character arc, he becomes the champion he was always able to be. knuckles (the TITULAR CHARACTER) doesn't. yes, he realizes that earth is his home and he learns to relax more, but it absolutely takes a back seat past episode 2. the show immediately starts with knuckles getting grounded and having to stay in his room, where he stays for 10 minutes until pachacamac tells him it's his duty to turn the local deputy sheriff into a warrior. there is no closure to this plot point. the show ends with them driving back to green hills. they could have written a fantastic scene where knuckles comes home to an absolutely livid maddie, who throws all that anger aside because her son is ok and he's home, and he admits that it's a home he's glad to come back to.

The villains are lackluster at best and useless to the plot at worst. only 2 out of 3 have a motive, the other one is just there. the two were both betrayed by GUN in different ways that were extremely interesting, but this was only touched on in a short exposition scene.

I could keep going until i started nitpicking, so instead I want to talk about the number one sin this movie committed, referencing sonic 06. I have no doubt that they thought taking elements form 06 would be seen as a 'fun little thing' to throw in for the older fans, but it's not, its borderline insulting. hardcore fans of any media franchise know the lore, even if a fan isn't neck deep in the series history it doesn't take a scholar to know about major events in a series. by taking iblis and the flames of disaster and slapping them onto knuckles' origin story is like ripping the band aid off 06 and slapping it onto knuckles, it doesn't work was needed and it makes both things worse. 06 can not be cannon in this universe, it just cant (unless you use a lot of au and cannon bending), so why take the inciting incident of a well known game in the series and use it as past events for your short special? there was absolutely no reason to expand on knuckle's backstory, the echidna tribe fought with the owl tribe and they lost, leaving knuckles as the sole survivor of his race. there was absolutely no need to tack on 'oh and then he decided to go find the flames of disaster and take it (no explanation or elaboration is given for this)'. not only does it muddy the waters lore wise and have insane implications for how 'powers' work in this universe, but it also feels like a slap in the face for people who like the story for 06. silver and blaze have always been some of my favorite characters of all time, and to just take their battle and sacrifices and give them to a character who didn't need a new backstory is just ludicrous. they don't even expand on it. they just say knuckles searched for and found a demon of fire and ash (who they don't name but is 100% iblis) and took the flames of destruction from it. this has nothing to do with the death of his entire race or seeing his dad die in front of him, there's no prophecy that says obtaining this power will help him find/guard the master emerald, it is literally just there.

I'm gona make a hard pivot here, there were things i actually liked about the show. not even 'this was a good concept but they failed to execute it' bc there ALOT of that, but there were a few things i legitimately liked.

as much as i hate the flames of disaster thing, i unironically loved the rock opera. it's stupid and watching it is a trip and a half, but also it was the past of the show where I could tell every one of those actors and dancers had so much fun. it reminded me so much of a sonic shitpost made with love and some of the props and costumes were legitimately impressive. the giant iblis puppet was so interesting to watch and even tho it was 'low budget' you can tell that the prop department put their entire hearts into the puppets and props for this.

Another thing I absolutely adored was knuckles' friendship with wade's mom. this small lost orphan and this single mother who just wants to have dinner with her kids who don't visit. how she tells him about their religious and family traditions and how he both respects them and is clearly interested in learning about them. the fact that after both of her children leave the dinner early, he stays with her and they both openly learn form and enjoy each other's company.

I also adore the girl scout and how she goes from wade's bully to his teammate in the final event, I wish they had put more focus on her and wade's relationship and her coming to respect him as he became confident in himself.

and of course the wachowski family and all of their interactions were perfect, from sonic trying to be a good brother to knuckles by helping him get used to earth to maddie being oh so tolerant of her three alien sons (to an extent). also the fac that she openly tells the construction crew that her son just so creative and imaginative with home defense, he just like to be a little warrior please don't sue us i'm so sorry he hog tied you to your truck.

also knuckles trying to teach ozzie (the family golden retriever) how to reclaim his wolf heritage in defense of the home was priceless and until tails called him away he was 100% paying attention and trying to be a good student boy.

3 out of 10 - don't watch this unless you are a diehard. it will still disappoint you, but the moments you can see what it could have been shine when given the opportunity

also the sister is the worst character even more so than the villain who betrays GUN bc he wants to fight aliens and make money, something he was already doing as a super secret government agent. I will admit the thumbs up after the rescue got a genuine laugh out of me

Chapter 6: There's No Going Black

Chapter Summary:

“You have a nice house, Mrs. Mae” Jeongguk spoke casually, “I like the doilies,” a little too casually.

“Why, thank you. What a gentleman,” Haru’s mother feigned, considering his casual tone. She smiled as she poured the tea into three teacups.

The next few minutes were spent prodding Jeongguk for more information about himself.

“A Mercedes at your age, huh. Just makes one wonder what you do for a living,” Haru’s mother remarked, much to Haru’s annoyance.

“He’s not a shady guy, mom.” Haru gave Jeongguk time to think a fake profession.

“The lot that requested this hearing, step to the front,” Ryka, the elder heading lost souls in the middle-world stated.

He was simply an apparition, similar to a demon, but in the form of a ghost.

Taehyung, Jeongguk and Hyejin looked around for kindred faces, but found none. The demons that’d promised to stand by them had all betrayed them; not a single one made eye contact.

“Told you they’d bail,” Taehyung shifted close to Jeongguk and whispered.

Their hyungs were somewhere in the back. They’d taken time out of their schedule to witness the hearing.

Jeongguk nudged both his accomplices forward, scared of making the council heads wait.

“Well, go on then!” Lucas, the one in charge of middle-world beasts was an impatient one, “Don’t keep us waiting.”

Lucas had strewn fur, showing his years of service at the council. The lines around his eyes were deep-set, letting one know all about his rigorous experiences in the demon realm. His head consisted of a wolf’s face with a majestic mane, while his body was muscular; but showed his years. His legs resembled that of a mountain lion, with sharp talons, similar to his hands.

Jeongguk decided to take initiative as Taehyung shivered behind him.

“Uh-”

“We’re the ones they’re looking for answers from, sir. It’s about the rare event that occurred on Friday,” he was immediately cut off by the council’s attendant.

“Well, it’s utter blasphemy then!” Lucas yelled, “How dare they decide to question the council? Do the younglings not know that we are the ones who decide their fate? I swear on Iblis, these young brats don’t have a single ounce of respect for our time.”

The air within the jury was so thin, Hyejin could swear she saw someone choking in the back.

“May I speak, sir?” Hyejin spoke softly, and all heads whipped in her direction. She might have not known court etiquette but someone had to speak up among them before Lucas decided to have their heads rolling.

“You may speak,” Juwon, head of middle-world demons, interrupted Lucas’ yelling with a single hand. He had an air of refined elegance about him that Hyejin had never seen in another demon, ever. Juwon looked like any other demon, but his eyes told you about his power. He could set anyone off running with a single look. He had platinum blonde hair and upturned eyes.

“We wanted to know about Friday’s event. So many souls were crossing at the same time, so it was concerning to us,” Hyejin spoke as firmly as she could, so as not to displease the council elders.

“Why keep a hearing for this? Any attendant could have answered your questions,” Juwon sounded tired as he dusted his robes.

Before Hyejin could reply, an attendant interrupted her.

“It was Lucas, sir.”

“The youngsters have to respect-”

“Yes, yes. We all know how much you like to keep hearings and put the younglings in a spot. Don’t get yours in a bunch,” Ryka said, cornering Lucas.

“Well, it’s better they hear it from us instead of half-assed information from other demons,” Lucas said, firmly.

“So much for blasphemy,” Juwon shook his head and sighed.

Imagine requesting a hearing and berating the people who stepped up for it first.

Juwon recollected his refined appearance and smiled at Hyejin.

“It was a bunch of war veterans cheating death. They made covenants during the war and failed to fulfill them, all alcoholics and old failures. That is all,” Juwon explained.

“Thank you, sir. That explains a lot,” Hyejin was so, so thankful for Juwon.

“Is that it, then? Damn, younglings-”

“You forced them to have a hearing, Lucas. Shut your trap before I smack it off,” Ryka interrupted, clearly tired of Lucas.

“You’re a ghost, you idjit. You can’t even touch me,” Lucas fought back.

“Want me to stay on top of you all the time? It’ll shut you up right away,” Ryka apparated right on top of Lucas, clearly annoying him.

“Hey, get off!” Lucas flailed his arms around, trying to shake Ryka off.

Everyone watched in awe. The air was completely different than before.

“Sir Lucas,” an attendant came running in, “Dylan from Chicago just called you a **** on CS:GO.”

“What the-” Lucas ran across the court to get Ryka off of him, “Pause the game. Fucking Dylan; I’ll be right there! We’re done here! Hearing closed.”

Lucas ran out, with Ryka rushing after him. This left only Juwon on the podium.

“But you can’t pause an online game, sir!” the attendant ran after Lucas.

The attendant then turned to the jury and gave a nervous smile, “He’s new to online games.”

“A bunch of kids, I tell you,” Juwon pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.

He clapped his hands and announced, “Well then, I think we’re done here. Friday’s event was a rare occurrence. If you have any more questions, you may ask our attendants. I doubt there will be more occurrences like Friday in the future,” Juwon looked at the jury again, “Dismissed.”

The entire court started whispering and talking while heads shifted. The court was soon empty.

Taehyung decided to break the silence outside once they reached outside the court, “Well that was…”

“Intense,” Hyejin completed for him.

There are many memorable experiences a person anticipates in their school life. Having your first kiss within the school campus, planning a trip with your closest friends being some of them.

Haru, too, had a bucket list of memory-making in her mind. What she didn’t anticipate was a handsome, air-headed, older man waiting for her outside the school gate in a shiny black Mercedes.

Every; mind you, every head turned in his direction when they passed by. A man in all-black in a black Mercedes; nothing weird about it.

“Jeongguk,” Haru whisper-yelled and swiftly walked to him, “What are you doing here? This is my school, you can’t come here like this.”

Jeongguk gave himself a once-over and gave her a questioning look, “Like what?”

The clothes were a completely different story, but an older man waiting for her outside her school sounded so shady.

“Who’s this, Haru?” Raemi sounded worried, “are you in trouble or something?”

The only person she didn’t want knowing about Jeongguk had already seen him waiting for her. Haru didn’t even know when Raemi got there.

“Wait, is it drugs?” Raemi went on when there was no reply, “Damn, Haru.”

Raemi fake-gasped, still wondering about all the possibilities why this man would be waiting for her.

“He saved me from an accident,” Haru blurted out without thought, “We’ve been talking since then. Just that. He’s older, you know.”

“What accident?” Raemi actually gasped this time, “Excuse me, no one told me about any accident! Are you okay, Haru?”

Raemi hugged Haru while Haru said whispered into her ear, “Don’t let anyone know about this. I don’t want to make a scene.”

Raemi suddenly stopped acting flamboyant, “Alright, but I think everyone has already seen him. You better think of an excuse. Why don’t you introduce me to him? He’s good-looking; I was hoping it would be more than an accident between you two.”

“Jeongguk, this is Raemi. She’s my best friend,” Haru motioned to Raemi, “Raemi, this is Jeongguk. He saved me from a road accident while crossing the street. We’ve become friends since then.”

“Hello, Jeongguk,” Raemi held out her hand for a handshake which Jeongguk gladly shook.

“You came to pick her up from school?” Raemi continued the conversation, “You’re that close? You brought a Merc too; what a way to show off.”

There was a hint of possessiveness in Raemi’s eyes.

Jeongguk looked at her as if he didn’t understand a word of what she’d said. He looked back at his car and stared at himself up and down, not finding anything amiss.

What was the girl implying?

“Yeah, he’s an airhead like that. Can’t keep a low profile, whatsoever,” Haru gave a pointed look to Jeongguk then turned to Raemi, “I’ll tell you everything later, okay? I have to leave right now.”

“Fine,” Raemi huffed, “But you better let me in on everything. What kind of friend doesn’t know when their friend has had an accident? Ridiculous.”

Haru hugged Raemi and nodded, answering her question. Raemi smiled at her and walked away, waving at her again from a distance. Haru waved back and turned to Jeongguk.

“Will you tell me what the hell you’re doing here?” Haru was seriously shocked he’d do something like this, “I can’t believe you.”

“Way to be grateful to someone who saved your life and has brought you important information from our realm,” Jeongguk scoffed.

“I am grateful,” Haru reminded, “But you stand out too much, Jeongguk. Can’t you keep a low profile? You’re literally signing omens of death with your appearance, right outside my school.”

“Because I wear all black-”

“And you have a black car,” Haru interrupted.

“-and don’t talk a lot?”

“You want me to change my appearance for you?” Jeongguk was in disbelief.

“No, but you could really benefit from a low profile,” Haru replied, already tired.

“I don’t need a low profile,” Jeongguk bit back, “When I don’t want to be seen I just go invisible. We don’t need to blend in when we can just disappear.”

Haru sighed, “Why are you so difficult? You can go invisible; I can’t. You are drawing attention to me right now, while waiting for me.”

“Alright then,” Jeongguk was tired too, “You could’ve just said that. I just had to get information about your situation to you as soon as possible.”

“What information? You found a solution?” Haru immediately perked up.

“Get in the car. I’ll drop you home,” Jeongguk motioned to his car, signifying he’d let her know everything on the ride home.

Haru immediately got in the car as Jeongguk followed suit.

“We recently had a reaping kind of thing,” Jeongguk began, “It happened right as you fainted.”

“What’s a reaping?” Haru was listening keenly.

“A large number of souls crossing – no, dying at the same time in this world,” Jeongguk explained.

“Oh,” was all Haru could muster, scared of what was coming.

“Many war veterans had almost exceeded their time on earth, so they were taken away together. Minutes between each other,” Jeongguk went on, “It means they were supposed to die either within the war’s time-frame or they would die in a reaping. It’s really painful; not a thing to boast about.”

“Huh? Did they cheat death or something?”

“It’s complicated…you know how people say their earnest prayers in hospitals and during calamities? Well, sometimes people end up making covenants with their prayers. A huge number of soldiers must’ve made some deals with demons, without knowing so. It’s laying out a condition such as ‘giving up on cheese sandwiches if I survive this war’ kind of thing, but much more complicated.”

“Makes sense now. That’s scary. Wish I didn’t know that,” Haru’s voice made her feeling apparent.

“They mostly forget about their deals, once they get what they want. This happens because they don’t really believe in gods, so they think they survived by fluke, and not because of their prayers. War will bring anyone to God’s doorstep. Basically, the prayer is made to both heaven and hell – if the condition is met, good will happen. If they disrespect the deal, bad will happen. Which is why; the reaping.”

“Man, I wonder if I’ve ever made such a deal,” Haru began thinking of all the times she’d said a prayer. But no, she hadn’t ever asked for something from the gods. She only remembered one time when she’d asked for Sungho’s wellness after his mother’s death.

“Yes, us heaven and hell-dwellers both, don’t take disrespect very well,” Jeongguk stated plainly. It was believable.

“How does this correlate with me though?”

“It definitely correlates to you. You fainted right as the reaping started. We almost lost you, Haru.”

There it was, the way he said her name as if patting her head like she knew nothing.

“Do you know anything about the 1950s?” Jeongguk continued.

“Why would I know anything about that era?” Haru immediately replied.

“I guess we’ll have to find out more about this phenomenon then. The council has already explained everything we asked them. I don’t know how long we can keep your existence from them…” Jeongguk said.

“What will they do if they find out?” Haru questioned.

“For starters, they’ll ask why I decided to save you.”

“Right. We’re toast on the first question itself. Nobody knows jackshit. Great. Understood,” Haru flailed her arms up in the air, giving up promptly.

Haru was quiet and reserved as Jeongguk pulled up in her neighborhood’s driveway.

“This is why you should be careful of your words and thoughts, all the time,” Jeongguk got out of the car and shut the car door after parking the car, “It doesn’t just happen in prayer. If you ask earnestly, someone will listen. Someone is always, always listening.”

Haru, too slid out of her seat and got out of the car.

Abruptly, a crow decided to let loose on Jeongguk’s black Merc.

“What the fuck- that asshole. I swear that stupid crow is following me everywhere,” Jeongguk muttered, to himself more than Haru.

“Well you’re very easy to spot and follow if you choose to show yourself…” Haru clicked her tongue.

“No, that crow is a fucking grown dude. It’s a fucking demon,” Jeongguk was getting angrier by the minute.

Haru promptly took out some pocket tissues from her satchel and wiped his car roof.

“There you go. All shiny again.”

That calmed Jeongguk a bit.

“How is the crow a grown person? And why’s it following-”

“Huh? What do we have here? Haru has brought home a handsome young man!” Haru’s mother, Chaerin came to the porch.

She gasped as she took in the sight, wiping her rimmed glasses.

“He’s so good-looking! And he has a Mercedes. You’ve hit the jackpot, finally. I’m so proud of you, my baby.”

“It’s not what you think-”

“Why don’t you come inside, young man? I’ve got some tea brewing and biscuits ready,” Chaerin’s voice was all flowery with Jeongguk.

Jeongguk stood stunned between the two women, and decided to let Haru speak for him.

“He’s a friend, mom,” was all Haru said.

“A friend with a Mercedes,” Chaerin corrected, “If not today, then some other day.”

Chaerin winked at Haru.

Haru sighed.

“I’m sorry about my mom. She’s quite animated when I bring new people,” Haru turned to Jeongguk, slowly shifting the conversation, “Let’s just have the tea and get it moving.”

Chaerin grinned brightly, making light out her daughter’s words and welcomed Jeongguk inside.

There was a lot of doily in the living room. A doily rug, doily cloth on the tv shelf, doily coffee table and doily covers on the couches. It matched Haru’s mother’s personality, Jeongguk thought.

“I’m Chaerin, by the way. Haru has told me a lot about you,” Chaerin continued.

“He knows I haven’t said a word about him, mom,” Haru immediately topped with a poker face.

“Well I’m sure you’re good company if Haru chose to be your accomplice,” Chaerin plastered a smile on her face.

Haru sighed, knowing what she meant.

“I’ll bring the tea and snacks,” Chaerin announced, softly clapping her hands, “Why don’t you help me, Haru?”

Haru nodded, anticipating what was coming. She looked at Jeongguk, basically signalling him to make himself comfortable while she helped Chaerin.

Chaerin spoke softly, “I hope it’s not something I should be concerned about,” as she poured the tea in a porcelain teapot.

“Before you start,” Haru prepared a tray from a cabinet, “It’s not drugs. Jeongguk saved me from an accident.”

“Jeongguk,” Haru’s mom clicked her tongue, “We’re on first name basis then? How’s it gonna be, after this?”

“We’re not going to be a thing, mom. We began talking, and found some things common. That’s all. He’s much older, y’know.” Haru was tired.

“Well then, I hope I’ll know in case of any developments?” her mom always made things complicated before they actually started becoming complicated.

“There will be no developments,” Haru decided to not argue this time, “but you’ll know when there are any.”

She just had to assure her mother that she wouldn’t get into any trouble.

Chaerin was happy with that, and simply hummed in response.

“You have a nice house, Mrs. Mae” Jeongguk spoke casually, “I like the doilies,” a little too casually.

“Why, thank you. What a gentleman,” Haru’s mother feigned, considering his casual tone. She smiled as she poured the tea into three teacups.

The next few minutes were spent prodding Jeongguk for more information about himself.

“A Mercedes at your age, huh. Just makes one wonder what you do for a living,” Haru’s mother remarked, much to Haru’s annoyance.

“He’s not a shady guy, mom.” Haru gave Jeongguk time to think a fake profession.

“My family owns an automobile company. It’s led by my dad and a few of his siblings. That is all for the Mercedes.” Jeongguk didn’t like the flow of the conversation anymore, given he had to mull over every sentence before speaking them into existence.

“Ah. Wonderful,” Haru’s mother beamed, “I know I’m being a total detective here. But I hope you can understand what this looks to people in general. No worries on you both hanging out though. I’m fine with it.”

Haru breathed a sigh of relief as she finished her tea. Jeongguk hadn’t touched a single biscuit, much to Chaerin’s dismay.

“But you’re to keep your room’s door open if you take him upstairs,” Haru’s mother motioned at her.

“Fine, mom,” Haru said in a robotic voice as she rolled her eyes, tired.

“You haven’t touched any snacks, dear. Don’t like biscuits? Should I get you something else?” Chaerin turned to Jeongguk again, always being the hospitable one.

“I actually ate before coming here,” Jeongguk excused himself, “So I’m already full.”

“Ah. No worries about that,” Chaerin assured.

“We’ll go upstairs then, Mom?” Haru cut in between.

“Off you go. Don’t give the handsome lad any trouble, if you can,” Chaerin grinned.

Haru gave her a look of ‘ugh’ and motioned Jeongguk to follow her.

Jeongguk gave Haru’s mom a small bow and smiled politely, and then followed Haru upstairs.

Haru’s room was pretty clean. Jeongguk had already seen it before, while loitering on the tree outside her window. She’d probably run away forever if she ever came to know that.

Jeongguk sighed.

Her room was a lot of yellow and pink. Pink pillows with yellow bedsheets, a yellow-cream wallpaper, and a light wooden desk in the corner. He felt pretty familiar in her house.

It was…warm.

“I can apparate inside your house now that I’ve been here once,” Jeongguk stated plainly.

“But you’re not doing that,” Haru said, without missing a beat, “This is my private space. You can’t barge in whenever you want, Jeongguk.”

She’d decided to explain, because hanging out with Jeongguk had made her realise how much of an airhead he was. The dude simply didn’t know a lot human gestures and emotions. So it was important to know where he was coming from, and also letting him know the reasons for things he didn’t understand.

“Right, I won’t,” Jeongguk nodded and surrendered his hands in the air, “I can still tap on your bedroom window from outside, if I ever need to talk to you.”

Jeongguk motioned at the window, and promptly, his demeanour changed.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now? He followed me here too?” Jeongguk picked an eraser from Haru’s desk and threw it outside, shooing the damned crow that had been following him.

“What the hell, Jeongguk. Don’t throw my things like that,” Haru scolded when she saw Jeongguk looking for something else to throw.

“That asshole crow. I can’t believe this. He actually followed me here too. He’s staring at us from that tree!” Jeongguk had completely lost it.

“Calm down, Jeongguk. It’s just-“

“That’s a grown-ass demon, Haru! It’s not some unintelligible bird. It’s a pervert!” Jeongguk cut off explained, annoyed.

He decided to apparate to the branch the crow was sitting on, but the crow flew away before Jeongguk could grab it. Jeongguk re-apparated into her room.

“Sonofa-”

“A pervert, you say?” Haru repeated.

“Close the blinds when you’re changing and don’t let any strangers inside your house. I’ve got one more hellish issue to take care of now.”

Haru nodded, putting her trust in Jeongguk.

“If it’s following you, then it’s something to be concerned about. It might not be just a silly dude poking fun at you,” Haru said, understanding what was happening.

“It probably saw you, Haru. I mean, your soul’s color. I need to get my hands on it. If word gets out about you, we’ll be in lots of trouble. I’ll have to trade him something, like hush money of sorts,” Jeongguk explained.

“I’m sorry for putting you through so much, Jeongguk,” Haru peered at the floor.

“It’s been following me for a long time. Before you came. It’s not you. I don’t know what he wants. All the crows are in on it too.”

“What does that mean now?”

“They gossip a lot.”

Jeongguk picked up a notebook from her desk and opened a page, handing it to Haru.

“Draw a bird, any bird.”

Haru was puzzled for a moment, but grabbed a pencil anyway.

The sheer dumbfounded look of disbelief Jeongguk gave her was indescribable. She’d drawn a ‘V’ for a crow, the way kids drew in their mountain scenery with a sun and a house.

He snatched the book from her and drew a random bird.

“Which bird is this?” Jeongguk pointed at the drawing and asked.

“I don’t know. Maybe a sparrow?”

Jeongguk then proceeded to scribble on the page, coloring the bird all black.

“Now which bird is this?”

Haru gasped, “It’s a crow.”

“Draw another bird,” Jeongguk said, then changed his mind because of her previous show of talent, “Wait, give the book here.”

He drew three more birds and showed them to Haru in outline. Then, he proceeded to fill them in black granite.

“Crows!” Haru gasped, yet again.

“Any bird is a crow in all black.”

Haru coughed, as she painted a mental picture of Jeongguk with his car…

“Jeongguk…you’re always in all-black too.”

“Well, this isn’t about me. It’s about the damn crows!” Jeongguk was quick to counter, “They’re signature arch demons when it comes to birds. All crows, Haru. All of them are grown-ass demons. They’re not birds, but demons. I hate them.”

He made it sound like he was looking for accomplices in his hate parade for crows.

“Okay, they’re perverts. I get it. But it’s really weird how every bird looks like a crow when painted black. So weird.”

“I know. The crows are all jerks. I don’t know where to start from about this stalker crow,” Jeongguk said, exhausted.

“Have you told Hyejin? She might be able to help,” Haru suggested.

“Yes, she knows. But today is just too much. Fucking pervert. I bet it’s an old bastard too.”

“I’m gonna go talk to Taehyung. You, keep the blinds closed. You see any stupid activity among those bastards, you let me know. Anything amiss? Use your mark and give me a call.”

Haru nodded as Jeongguk instructed her like a little girl.

He promptly disappeared in a cloud of black smoke.

That was the first time she’d talked to with Jeongguk for such a long time. He was so on edge the entire time after that crow had decided to loose his bearings on his car.

If Jeongguk was showing this much concern, it was definitely serious.

Glad to hear you're feeling better! But you should really get some good sleep in tho.

Other than that, I'm glad you're having fun with this! I'm usually pretty nervous to interact with people like this, but I'm really enjoying myself. Plus everyone's been super nice!

And don't worry about your English, everything has been perfectly understandable so far. I'm not a native speaker myself, so I understand how hard it can be.

With that said, let's see what I can come up with this time...

I think I'll start with some ideas for Silver's origins. I totally agree with you that Shadow wouldn't be a deadbeat. Like, he might not always be the best at showing it, but he does genuinely care about others. And if he found out he has a kid? Well, he would probably be pretty conflicted at first, maybe even a little scared, but he definitely wouldn't leave said kid to fend for themselves. So something pretty big must have happened for him to be out of the picture. Though if Mephiles is to be believed in 06, then he has been sealed away.

After that... well, I guess G.U.N. is the easiest to point a finger to when it comes to Silver's creation. I wouldn't be surprised, if once someone a bit more, let's say ambitious, gets to lead G.U.N. That they might try to revisit Project Shadow and try to create their own Ultimate Lifeform to use as a weapon. Aside from maybe Eggman, they are the only ones that could get to, and make use of what's left of Gerald's research. ((Maybe in some twisted way this is the real reason why Shadow gets captured in the future.))

But thinking about this does remind me something: Silver's gloves. Some people do theorize they could be like Shadow's inhibitor rings. Which is a pretty interesting thing to think about. (Or at least to a lesser extent, they are meant to help him direct and control his psychokinesis better.) But either way, they do look like some pretty fancy tech, something that would be pretty hard to come by in a fiery hellscape of a world. So this could further help explain where and why he got them.

Either way, once Iblis starts weaking havoc. Silver would still probably be too young and inexperienced to fight against it. And so G.U.N. is destroyed, Shadow left forgotten, and Silver has no choice other than to set out into a world with only a handful of a survivors left to guide him. I don't think he would really remember much of his early life, and that is even if he got to have some semblance of a childhood. So he has no idea about his true origins.

Fast foward to the point he's actively traveling to the past. His relationship with the other characters would be a little awkward in the beginning, with all the time travel and all. He genuinely wants to be around other people, but can't shake the feeling that his time in the past only temporary. That once he's able to ensure an actually good future, but one that he has detached himself from by his constant travels, he won't really belong anywhere.

This would make his relationship with Shadow even harder. On one hand you have Silver who wants to make connections, but is held back by his own doubts. And then there is Shadow who despite genuinely caring about others, has a difficult time making connections because his own past, and deeply ingrained fear of loss. So for a younger Shadow, forging friendships isn't the easiest. I think it would take some time for him to get used to the idea of having a family again, especially considering what happened to the last one. Then you add onto that Silver constantly leaving to the future. One day he could just not return to the past, and no one would have any idea what happened to him, or if he's even alive. That's a terrifying thought.

The whole reveal would probably make things even more awkward between them. But it might allow them to actually think about their relationship and decide how they want to proceed. Y'know, actually get them to talk to each other properly. Plus, they are still a lot of questions both both of them would like to be answered. Just because they know they are somehow related, doesn't mean they have the whole picture.

As for some more of the Black Arms stuff. For the Doom Morph I had something slender and nimble in mind, so that fits. (Especially since I didn't want to just recolor Shadow's.) As for the Surf form, well, I did have a few more reasons to choose orca to base it on. They are incredibly smart and very social creatures. Also, I feel like a lot of people tend to underestimate how good of a hunters they are, there is a good reason they are called the "killer whales". Similarly, Silver may look like a cute furball, but he's deceptively strong and should not be messed with. (He did kick Sonic's butt twice in his debut game.) But the diving thing is a pretty cool idea, I didn't think of that.

I really like the idea of their blood being black though. Afaik the general consesus is that their blood is green (I think that's how it's in the game too, because censorship). But it being black just sounds much cooler and looks more on brand. I'll definitely be borrowing this. (I also just realized how well that would blend in with Shadow's fur, oh no)

I admit I've already been toying with the idea of Silver getting controlled through the hivemind. It's absolutely ripe with some angst potential, and ho boy do I love me some good angst. >:)

Like, imagine if this was how their relation was actually revealed.

It would require there being another Black Arms aside from our two hedgehogs. So either Black Doom somehow returns from the dead again, or I actually come up with a way to include Eclipse. (Speaking of Eclipse, I really do wanna involve him somehow, he's very neat.)

Honestly yeah, at this point this might as well become a fic lol. To be fair, I have been considering writing a one based on this, I just need to wrangle the plot a bit first and I'm ready to go.

So allow me to continue a bit:

Silver's day just went from bad to worse, and all it took was one unlucky hit to the head. His vision was swimming. His ears were ringing.

When did he fall to the ground?

He pushed himself to his knees. The enemies were closing in. Large hulking machines, the lastest of Eggman's attempts to take over the world. One he couldn't let succeed.

He tried to focus his powers, but they fizzled out pitifully. He grit his teeth.

Focus.

His hand sparked with power, and the nearest robot crumpled like a tin can. A stab of pain through his head sent him down again. He tried to get his hands under him, to crawl as far away as he could, his pride me damned. But he didn't get far.

He could only watch as his enemies lumbered closer. No... It can't end like this.

Someone.

Anyone...

Help.

HELP ME!

In what felt like a crash of lighting, and just as fast, the foes fell one by one. Leaving only a dark figure standing atop the scrap metal.

He could barely see, yet somehow... "S-Shadow? How did you..." he knew who it was.

"I heard it."

What?

Shadow wasted no time in approaching him. He knelt next to him and helped Silver sit up. The whole world lurched with the movement. Silver felt a hand touch the side of his head, causing him to hiss in pain.

"Sorry." The word was almost too quiet to hear. Shadow pulled his hand back, white glove stained black. He seemed to study it for a moment before wiping it on his leg. Carefully he gathered Silver into his arms. "Hold on. I'll get you out of here."

People talking about what if Shadow was Silver’s dad y’know but NOT ONCE have I seen anyone say that if that’s true, then Silver has black arms blood
