Danny visited Tim in his dream the night before Tim released the information about Danny's death. He got closure but wasn't as understanding as Dick.

He doesn't forgive Officer Black, but understands where the anger comes from. He still has bursts of rage whenever he is reminded of how Danny was taken from him. He figures forcing the man to live with the guilt of killing his sister's rescuer and never letting him forget. He sends a reminder on Danny's death anniversary to Black's door with the words I have not forgotten what you have done. He forgives you but I never will.

Tim felt that Gotham took away the light the Infinite Realms had bestowed on them. So, he will focus on running the darkness in Gotham for the rest of his life to ensure it can no longer swallow up the lights.

Danny is very proud of him for ensuring everyone in the Justice System is treated fairly, and in a few short years, Tim will weed out all the corruption. It's how Steph meets him. She helped his Ghosts ensure her Dad faced the right amount of justice. Her drive and motivation impressed him, bringing her to a high level of clearance once she finished basic training with the newest street kids recruits.

She becomes his second hand after proving her abilities and belief in Tim's cause.

Tim also, after years of the Danny Crowne case, got all those involved in the disappeared children out of jail and jobs at Drake Co. They are just as powerful as Wayne Enterprise because they merged with Crowne since Danny left everything in his name to him and Tim bought the rest out.

Tim continues to train with mercenaries by paying them. He will later grab the attention of Ra, but the immortal will assume that Tim's lack of ambition outside of Gotham doesn't make him a person of interest. He is unaware of how weary Bruce is of Tim. No one outside of Gotham has Tim on their radar.

Tim has the means, the plans, and the abilities to take out the Justice League. He merely doesn't because they have never gotten in his way and it would have made Danny said if he did it without a good reason.

Tim is morally grey because Danny was morally grey. Yes, he rescued children and gave them safe homes and out of the streets, but Danny didn't do it legally. He possessed people in the Child Services to smuggle children out. He made deals with a few foster parents to look the other way and hid all of this from the law.

We know he wasn't hurting them, but others didn't, including Tim, for a long time. He just knew his brother made kids vanish. That is why he snoops and tries to figure out what Danny is doing.

I may write a time skip from Tim's pov cause this got a little too long.

but then, bruce adopts another kid.

and another.

... and another.

and everyone starts asking themselves if this was all his idea or yours.

oh, if only they knew.

and as much as your kids love to joke about bruce's 'teenage phase', one can only imagine the sheer gratefulness they had for him and you.

Well apparently DC is obsessed with making incest real 😑😑... Steph is a particular case, she is in a position between Barbara and Cassandra which means she can't be see as a legally adopted kid because she is not an orphan or someone in need of an official parental figure (like Cass needed Batman) and because she dated Tim who is one of the legally adopted kids (like Barbara dated Dick)

Steph is "independent" from the family like Barbara but I can understand she is seen as one of Bruce kids as long as we understand that is platonic, because she was younger than Babs when she "joined" and I could see Bruce caring and paying her studies and even supporting her economically if she needs it, Steph can "sometimes", " Maybe " See him as fatherly figure but SHE ISN'T BIOLOGICALLY OR LEGALLY HIS DAUGHTER! So she can't be in that family tree the same way Barbara and Luke fox aren't there either. Right now Steph is more like that kid that is your kids friend and spends more time in your house eating your food than in her own house because her family is dysfunctional and feels happier in your home so you treat her like family.

The only way she or Barbara can become legally his daughters is by becoming daughters in law and that's it! Stop making Steph incestuous DC!

I'd like to see you tackle that in a story if you wanted to, considering you write fanfiction and did a really good job imo with this ship.

OK so I actually have a detailed idea in my head of how stephcass plays out in the future that starts with them getting together, breaking up because Cass grows even more intense in her commitment to the mission once she becomes Batman, and then a year or two later Cass showing up in Steph's apartment with a kid being like hey I rescued this kid from being forced to be a child assassin but his parents are dead and idk what to do pls help.

And Steph is like we haven't talked in five months are you fucking kidding me. But she's not a monster and Cass looks way over her head so the two of them start kind of coparenting this kid because Cass understands the assassin aspect but she has no idea what school supplies a 10 year old might need. And then one thing leads to another and it turns out Cass may actually be worse at this adoption addiction than Bruce is because despite her firm belief that she is not capable of being a good mother she is also unwilling to Not help any child assassin she meets. And often that includes adoption because there is no other family uniquely capable of understanding the trauma these kids are going through.

(Cass meets an alarming amount of child assassins. She doesn't adopt ALL of them because they don't all need that specific type of help. Steph is still mildly concerned and not just because her apartment is getting way too full even though all the kids technically live at the manor and Steph is just a family friend.)

So in my mind they do everything backwards. They're exes then they're coparents then they're kind of rekindling things and then five years after Cass adopts the first kid she's like hey do you want to have a baby together because I didn't think I'd be a good mom but I actually really love helping these kids and I really like doing this with you and I think I'm actually ready to be both Batman and the mother of a baby. I get why Bruce was scared but I'm built different so I simply won't die and this kid will grow up happy and loved and I'll teach it everything I know and you can teach it important life stuff like what the settings on the washing machine actually mean and why certain clothes need dry cleaning.

And Steph is like woah that's a lot to process but Cass babe you have to ask me on a date first. And Cass is like have we not already been dating for a few years now? And Steph is like no showing up on my doorstep with a kid who needs a good meal, a shower and medical attention is not actually a date. Neither is attending those little league games together or patrolling together. If you're going to ask me to have a baby I'm going to need a ring on this finger and you're going to have to work for it.

So they date, and then they get married, and they have a bunch more kids most of whom are adopted or fostered. By the time Cass is forty she has five kids, the oldest of whom she adopted as a 10 year old and is now 21. And she and Steph have been married for five years technically but have been coparenting for eleven.

The wedding itself would be pretty straightforward, if more extravagant than normal. Cass wears a suit and is mildly uncomfortable with having to talk about her feelings in front of an entire audience. Steph wears a dress and can't stop smiling because god she loves this woman so much even though she can be a dumbass sometimes. Especially because she can be a dumbass sometimes actually.

The whole family is there. Bruce cries. Crystal makes snide but deserved comments at him the entire time. Tim was asked by both women to be their best man and almost spiraled into another self destructive slump from trying to process all the emotions he felt about that. In the end Cass takes Babs with Bruce walking her up the aisle and Steph takes Tim, who still looks mildly terrified throughout the entire ceremony, like one wrong move from him is going to bring the entire building down on top of them.

Two of Cass's enemies do show up to try and ruin the wedding but unfortunately for them they end up making it so much better instead because Cass gets to kiss her wife AND punch some bad guys in the face all in the same event. She's having the time of her life. What the hell was Bruce so afraid of this marriage thing is EASY.

(It's not easy. Cass is able to balance the mission and her family better than Bruce but that doesn't mean problems don't exist. The kids are used to at least one fight every six months where Steph basically yells at Cass for all the ways she's been letting Batman responsibilities come between them and Cass is like psh I don't know what you're talking about and then gets her act together because she does in fact know what Steph is talking about. She takes Steph to Themyscira on a vacation as an apology. She doesn't repeat her mistakes but she does make new ones because it turns out there are infinite ways you can mess up when raising kids especially when your work is being Batman and you're never going to stop. Steph messes up too although her mistakes are less to do with work life balance and more to do with hurtful comments made during arguments that she regrets. It's never anything bad enough to break them up again, and for the most part they're shockingly the most healthy and well adjusted pairing of the family. Damian takes great joy in reminding Tim of this fact.)

OKAY OKAY SO, i think this might be sort of a long ramble, stay with me

first, let me introduce you to them:

i knew from the start of this au that i wanted luna to be steph, she would also fit tim's robin, i think, but steph has such a vibe, y'know, and i think it really suits her! she starts out as the fourth robin (after a list of other three, including draco, that i won't reveal yet), and ends up becoming spoiler. she's highly trained by her mom (who actually didn't want her to be a vigilante first, it was mostly self defense training, this is still gotham after all), and one of the smartest robins (riddle fears her)

as for pandora... she's a big character on this au, one of the most important, i'd say, she's reg's best friend, her twin brother is a wanted criminal, and yet, she still manages to be one of the greatest vigilantes in gotham. after becoming oracle, she tries, for a while, to stay away from everything, but then she just sees this little girl dressed up as robin (regulus did not recruit her) and she's just like 'wAIT THAT'S MY KID-"

as for andromeda, her character is more unique to this au:

dr andromeda tonks, nee black, head scientist and ceo of star tech (mainly performing in gotham under regulus' care, but the lab in star city is hers).

i did think of many roles to fit Andromeda (she was going to be the penguin, then batwoman...), but i wanted her to be in the star labs for a few reasons that have less to do with her.

andie, as a character, steped up as ceo of star tech as soon as her uncle and aunt (orion and walburga) passed, mostly because star tech used to be VERY shady before andie and reggie took charge. she's a brilliant scientist, and has a lot of interesting research on vigilante tech and metahumans.

she meets ted (lab's intern) after he spills coffee all over her during a meeting. they get married shortly after.

disclaimer: any resemblances between her and the clown queen of crime are mere coincidences (she swears)

as for why andromeda is in star city (and sometimes metropolis), and not gotham, other than wanting to be as far as possible from her family, is because of both sirius and tonks

i still have little idea of what they will be in this au. part of me wants to make sirius the flash (i have a little bit written on this), and tonks as impulse (or kid flash), but part of me also wants to make tonks nightwing (due to being slightly older) and sirius to be ollie

now i know, why the hell would sirius be the green arrow? hear me out: remus as black canary. that's marjorly it /j. but honestly now, the presumed dead firstborn of a very rich family, stays away for years while being trained, comes back and pretends to be the biggest party boy ever (this is more arrowverse green arrow, i think, but still), while going after everyone who associated with his parents? that's VERY sirius black for me.

yet, i can't deny sirius would make an AWESOME nightwing, like???????? it suits him so much and it doesn't even need lore explanation, nightwing's bissexual energy just screams sirius' name, yeah

bottom line is: i'm still deciding who'll be who when it comes to sirius and tonks

Vero is literally just too awkward to initiate anything else, so they'd rather silently help with chores or something similar. They also have an underlying need to prove themselves constantly and a desire to feel needed somewhere.

They do still admit that they love getting hugs and cuddles even if they're unbearably awkward about it. Also, there's a 50/50 chance they burst into tears if you tell them "I'm proud of you" (just ask anyone in NSS) because those are words they almost never hear.

Hiro

Favorite to give: Quality Time/Acts of Service Favorite to receive: Quality Time/Physical Touch

Hiro just adores their friends and loves spending time with them. They also like feeling useful and tries to help around a lot. It's partially driven by feelings of self-doubt and a need to prove themselves- wait a second I've heard this before.

If Veronika is awkward, Hiro is fucking mortifying. (Joking! Kinda-) The difference is Hiro is absurdly awkward with physical intimacy because they're touch starved. Veronika is just kinda awkward with social interactions in general sometimes. Anyways, Hiro is a simple creature: they just wanna be the little spoon when cuddling.

There's not much of an explanation needed here. She just loves causing mischief of any kind with friends. She's also just a very physical person in general, so she's constantly fistbumbing, high-fiving, arm punching, light elbowing- Ok you get the point. She likes bops and boops.

Likes to box her friends, nothing serious but will just kinda playfully jab at them like a cat slapping it's owner. Usually they just let it happen or jab back.

She has like 5 million different skills from the many, many, many, unique experiences she's had during her more nomadic lifestyle, so she'll gladly put them to use to help her friends. Also makes sure to go out of her way and say how much she appreciates everyone because she knows that they might not always hear it.

She still struggles with not crying whenever she gets a gift, and will 100% shed at least 1 tear if she gets a handmade gift of any kind.

Stephanie

Favorite to give: Gifts/Acts of Service Favorite to receive: Quality time

She has the money to buy basically anything, which is great because she can get her friends practically whatever they want, including services like housecleaning and catering, but at the same time receiving gifts don't necessarily hit the same for her because she can buy anything. If Steph says "I gotchu!" then you'll never know hardship again.

So instead, she does love spending any sort of time with anyone. She doesn't get a lot of quality time, or much time at all, with her family, so she's down for basically anything to distract her from that.

They're surprisingly attentive despite their aloof appearance, so they remember small details from random conversations that lets them pick the perfect gifts.

They did not get much time with their parents because they died while Wally was really young, so they treasure literally any time at all with the people close to them.

He's really busy a lot of the time, so words are most convenient. Also he very much realizes that his friends really, really need someone to verbally acknowledge all the things they do, and is more than happy to do so.

He loves acts of service because it helps him manage his workload a bit easier.

During The Summoning we only get lines focusing on Nibbly and Wiggly.

We don't get lines like that focused on all the other characters. We do get hints about them though. The reason I'm bringing this up is because (and I'm probably slow and others pointed this out) it was foreshadowing the ending.

During Dirty Dudes Must Die we see all the Lord in Black colours at first but then it turns to mainly pink and green, Nibbly and Wiggly. My favourite scene has to be when Angela yells at Jason and the colouring on her face goes from pink to green. The sacrifice got away but the wrath is still there and it's taking over. On top of that Grace would have a lot of wrath.

Max was a perve who was never gonna stop going after her even when she would say no. Even if she ended up having thoughts about him she still wanted to save herself and couldn't because it was either give up her chastity or let Steph or Peter die. Of course she's going to be angry. Like she said in DDMD "You think the time that I was Chaste was being waste on holy mission." You can take that two different ways to be fair, but I'm focusing on the one where she feels like her saving herself only to have to give it up to Max felt like a waste and she didn't really want to but it was the mission that caused her to do it. On top of that her parents very much instilled it in her brain that any thought of intimacy (even dancing with both boys and girls) is a sin, she's not going to feel comfortable going to them and probably scared to. She feels like god betrayed her and never had an experience like she did with The Lords In Black with God, which is seeing him face to face and getting a solid answer to how to figure something out.

I don't know how to end this or if anything made sense, but what I was trying to explain was why Grace would have a lot of genuine anger by the end. She's mad at what she was taught and felt betrayed by it. So she has that anger towards her religion and her parents for it as well. She's mad at the perverts and the bullies. It makes sense she would go after one of the football boys. Even if they didn't like the bullying they never tried stopping it, and they even admitted that they would go back to it if Max ever back (though Grace wasn't there for that one).

Maybe I'll do a full on analysis of Grace one day. Including outfit analysis as well. It would probably be fun.

Ok so i'll make a list of my top 10 and say why (i'm also not exclusively doing DC comics but they are the majority):

Batgirl (2000): do i even have to explain this one? the art and visual storytelling makes me ill, the way it explores cass's character through her relationship with established characters like bruce and babs, the way cass is so fucking unhinged, the mother-daughter comparisons with shiva&babs vs the father-daughter comparisons between cain&bruce AASSFHFKSDF. ILL.

The New Teen Titans: this one holds a lot of nostalgia for me because it was one of the first comics I read! They were the first team i really latched onto and by extension the first characters i really felt strongly about. Rereading it as an adult and seeing how it still holds up is soooo incredibly satisfying (dickkory was baby's first otp)

Spinning by Tillie Walden: technically cheating because this is a graphic novel but I'm counting it because it's included under the umbrella of sequential art. it's a autobiographical graphic novel about tillie walden's experience growing up a lesbian in the south (of the US) through their relationship with figure skating. i really relate to it and it's a massive inspiration for me and i think everyone should read it

Impulse (1995): ...i'm audhd...it hits a very special and specific place in my heart...but in all seriousness i love the shape language and the character dynamics. god the cast is soooo fun

Robin & Batman: i love introspection and this whole comic is just Dick Grayson introspection. The way it covers Dick's emotional state post his parents death and how Bruce didn't really know how to help Dick outside of guiding him in channeling his grief into being a vigilante makes me insane...also the alfred characterization in this...the implication that he thinks he made the wrong choice by enabling Bruce and wanting to rectify that by not enabling Dick...

Spider-Gwen (2015): The art and concept is what drew me into this comic. I've been a spiderman fan since I was a little kid and the idea of gwen stacy being the spider person...AND SHE WAS A DANCER.. i was hooked. I love gwen as a character on a meta level and in general; she's my girl

Convergence Batgirl: listen...the implications this comic has about steph and cass's relationship...the "what do my eye's say" scene...lovers. teeny tiny baby run but im still counting it as a comic

...Is it cheating to say Young Justice 98? Imma say Young Justice 98: it was a gateway to me finding a bunch of characters that are now my faves. It shines a spotlight on characters we don't see all that often (like Cissie, Cassie, Anita--girl i miss you) I think about this comic constantly

Micheal: "THEN there is Dick Grayson! Raised in a circus, first robin, saw his parents die infront of him. Sad stuff. But kind and funny goof, probably the most traumatizing past not including me! He is now Nightwing and a big loving older brother!"

Micheal: "first batgirl aka Barbara Gordon was the daughter of a cop and she is in a wheelchair because joker broke into her house and shot her. So yeah- acts like a big sister to us. Bruce basically adopted her."

Micheal: "then Jason Todd. 2nd robin now a anti hero that is a huge foodie, me and tim are cool with him. His mom was a doctor that sold drugs and his dad was a small criminal that left to get the milk. Jason was also beaten by a crowbar to death by joker"

Micheal: "Tim Drake was the 3nd robin, now red Robin...Yumm, he is smartest of us, lived a good ish childhood, his parents died- he is also is coffee addict and very sleep deprived. Don't ask the last time he slept!"

Rover: "should Bruce be-"

Micheal: "we all are sleep deprived Rov. Anyways there is Steph brown. Tim's ex, was the first female robin. Was second batgirl, smart gal, her dad tried to kill her many many many times, faked her death before, all that."

Rover: "im- do all of yo not have parents or have crappy parents?"

Michael: "Cassandra Cain, 3nd batgirl, now is orphan (I think-) was trained without language so she doesn't talk much, she can read movements to tell what you are gonna do next. Doesnt understand everything but is badass!

Micheal: "not even close. Anyway now their is Damian Wayne. The 4th robin, obsessed with animals, the only vegan, filled with rage pretty much, trained by the league of assassins. Mother is one of the leaders, Bruce's only biological child. And kinda a snappy kid but fun to hang with at times"

Rover: "sounds like tea and Elizabeth"

Micheal: "im not gonna ask who they are! Anyways Duke! Called The Signal, the first mutant in the family I think, the only bat person that has a good sleep schedule mostly because he works on the day. But very sweet and cheerful dude, also his mom is insane because of joker and he is trying to get her to at least remember who he is"

Rover: "their goes the joker trauma-... Holy shit your family is hu- wait what about bat woman?"

Micheal: "oh yeah she isn't important-"

Rover: "batwing?"

Micheal: "oh! He is another batman. Alfrican soldier that is another version of batman but he has a different kids suit, he is retired now but he i think had the most teched used suit then all of us"

I think, that of all the kids that could've gone after Jason's death, Tim was the only one Bruce wouldn't have broken. I mean, pre-Jason's death, Bruce was a cool father. He wasn't the best but no one is and you'll always find fault in his parenting skills but he wasn't bad. He was a good father to Jason, speaking strictly before Jason's murder at the hands of Joker. But then he died and Bruce shut down, becoming almost completely emotionally unavailable borderline abusive.

And you see it in fanon a lot, how Tim came practically searching for a dad, but that is so far from how it actually was. Tim expected absolutely nothing from Bruce other than Tim providing help -hell, when his parents were held hostage, I don't remember where he'd even expected Bruce to save them (I mean they were in Haiti and it was a situation in itself). Tim's not going to search for something he already has. And because Tim didn't expect anything, he was never disappointed about not receiving because Tim didn't want to make Bruce proud, he just didn't want to disappoint him, he didn't want to be fired because then he'd failed. Because it honestly all went a lot better than one could've expected and there's no guarantee of there being a second chance to help, to try again, if he flunks this. Because Batman lost a Robin and a son. And you know what Tim did? He went to track down Dick because he is a Robin and a son.

If Cass came right after Jason died, for example taking Tim completely out of the pucture. I mean, kid who had an abusive dad and is practically a killing machine by herself and has killed and decided she didn't want that so she ran away to the streets, and not to mention that there was a time Bruce briefly suspected Shiva was Jason's mom- yeah, no, Bruce wouldn't trust himself with that and would either completely and utterly shut her out, or pressure her.

Steph? Um, see how that already happened. Steph was the more musically inclined incarnation of Jason in Bruce's eyes. Without Tim to buffer between them, it would've been even worse -if that could've somehow gone worse.

Damian?..... I don't really want to contemplate that since his welcome in canon was already disastrous, they would've killed each other, honestly, by accident or not. Feral Bruce is not at all compatible with feral child.

And also, who else would've thought to track down Dick first before proceeding.

Honestly, that's why I got so irritated with that thing about Tim supposedly wanting to be Robin. He may possibly have wanted to be Robin (in the same sense that he wanted to be a college student and not like in a fairy sense -which I still think was the case), but it did not exceed his common sense of not purposefully seeking out danger for glory (it was even an arc), trading his relatively peaceful and safe life for one of thrill and where teenagers get beaten and blown up to death, not without dire reason enough for him to go out of his way and completely upset his life, everything he's known until that moment -including that heroes do their thing and if he had any path he wanted to take that's outside of outright fantasy, it was following after Bruce Wayne Rich Philanthropist.

Regardless of wants and want nots, wanting to be Robin absolutely did not factor in the decision to put on the mask. At that instant, Batman just needed a Robin.

Batman didn't need a Robin to do things, Batman needed Robin to do things the right way.

Think about it, if Bruce just ever implied a you're a bad son, well, yeah, no I'm not your son. You're a bad partner, I'm the only one you got, I mean unless you've got someone else under those wings. How do you think Cass or Damian would've reacted to that? And just that general power imbalance between a parent who provides all emotional and physical needs of a child. Tim wasn't Bruce's dependant, nor did either of them saw it like that. Tim didn't need or want anything from Bruce and that's just perfect because there's nothing Bruce can give him.

Tim was supposed to be just the cover/back-up/partner in the field. He's taking the share of the Robin side of labour, while Dick is presumably taking the Son side of it.

This is not at all indicative to how it would develop later, which is an entirely different matter, when Tim is a lot more vulnerable and -if he'd even listened to the councillor- needed a stable support system in these trying times. Said support system that was dropping like flies or he had trouble maintaining a constant contact due to missions and life in general.

I have read your thought about the Batfamily, now I really want to know your thought about the one who started it, the Batman himself. We can't ignore the fact that Bruce is abusing his children, but there's also some moments where he's being a good father to them. But some of his act doesn't make sense.

He's beating his children, then calling them his son after. He act like a mad man after Damian's death (yeah, they did Jason dirty in here), feeling sorrow and desperately wanting to ressurect him, but then neglecting him continously in the future. I didn't know much about Cass, Bruce seems to always be a good father to her. But her fans once pointed that Bruce (or DC) is too hard on her to not killing/too soft on the others, because the other batkids has killed some villains while under Batman and still got to continue putting on their costumes.

What is exactly Bruce character? How is his relationship with every one of his children?

I feel like Batman can't be in a good relationship with one of his children without destroying his relationship with the other. I always love parents and children relationship in comics, but with batfamily sometimes it just so 'fanon-y' and some are hurtful.

I stopped reading Batman book for a long time. And come back reading that wedding and city of bane arc, because I want to know how they killed Alfred. And honestly those run are terrible. The issue basically just a batcat fanservice, with the worst Batman and Catwoman characterization ever. The batkids didn't even got many appearance and treated awfully as if they are just extras, even if they all are capable and have connection with Alfred.

My thoughts on Batman and Bruce have changed over the last few years, he wasn’t the character that introduced me to DC comics but what I got to read from him at the time seemed good. As time went by, I started to feel like the whole concept of Batman was overrated and he kinda tired me in entertainment such as movies and all that. He never truly was a character that I actually liked so by the time that I read Under the Red Hood I knew that I liked Dick and Jason better than Bruce.

Batman was interesting but I was completely indifferent about Bruce. That whole thing changed around the time that the New 52 was sort of ending, there I started to heavily dislike Bruce and then that turned into pure hate. Now, I am just tired of the guy and every time that he appears in Dick or Jason content my day is ruined.

I hate that DC has been writing Bruce as an abusive and manipulative person and father to his “kids”, he has done a lot of wrong to them in comic history but all went to shit (in current comics) when Bruce tried to manipulate Jason into reliving the day that he died and his resurrection in Batman and Robin vol2. #20 and when he beat Dick and manipulated him into becoming a spy after telling him that he had told everyone that he was dead in Nightwing vol.3 #30.

Bruce was a horrible human being in the pre-New 52 timeline too sometimes, mostly towards Dick but in a way, it felt like Dick was able time and time again to get away from him a little bit. Now none of his kids are given the opportunity to turn their backs on Bruce, they are kept in his surroundings no matter how abusive he becomes towards them.

My biggest problem with Bruce’s abusiveness is the fact that the writers never treat it like he acts in an abusive way, they never make him apologize or have an internal discussion where he realises that he was in the wrong. “Bruce is a horrible person to his sons but it doesn’t matter because he is right and he is Batman so that’s that”, that’s the message that I feel DC is selling us. Bruce never receives punishment or is called out for his behaviour, Dick was never able to tell Bruce that what he did to him was unforgivable, he never got the chance to explain to anyone that he didn’t play dead, and when he came back from Spyral he took all the shit from his “family” himself.

Sometimes DC does something even worse, they try to hide Bruce’s neglect with things that never happened like they did with the Ric thing in Dick’s case. Dick was passed around from villain to villain when he was most vulnerable and at the end of it all DC had the guts to say that Batman had been watching over Dick all the time. Like, why lie in such a blatant way? Does Bruce enjoy watching his son suffer from a far or was he too much of a coward to tell Dick that he was a shit father, got stuck in a hole and then decided to play “Cat and Bat” with Selina instead of caring for any of his children?

The situation with Damian’s death and resurrection was a whole thing that was meant to prove that Bruce loved Damian and considered him his son. But in their effort to make Bruce look like a good father to Damian they completely destroyed his relationship with his other kids and that was also the start of Bruce referring to Damian as his ONLY son. And like you said after Damian was resurrected Bruce ended up neglecting him afterwards which ultimately led Damian to run away.

His relationship with Cass and Duke is something that I cannot explore because I am not into those characters and they are involved in books that I am not interested in. So I cannot say anything about that.

With Tim it’s complicated because I feel like his relationship with him was never actually father/son it was more like mentor/mentee and that seemed to work better for them, ever since they started the whole family thing Bruce started to act a little bit too rough towards Tim and that ended with Bruce punching Tim during the “City of Bane” arc. Bruce never apologised or was shown realising his mistake, but DC made sure to explain that Bruce was going through a rough time so that’s why he did it. It was pure rubbish and I dislike it a lot.

I answered an ask a while ago about how I thought Dick and Jason could become family the way that DC treats the “Batfamily” within comics and I came up with the idea of the “Dickfamily” because I felt like DC made a big mistake the moment they revolved the Bat family around Bruce and not Dick. Bruce is a character that is known for being lonely and for being surrounded by darkness that he only manages to escape through the light of Robin (Dick Grayson because he was the first), he was always depicted as someone who is hard to work with and considers his teammates only co-workers and not friends. He is a difficult person to connect with, so why on earth did DC come up with a family surrounding that man? (I actually know the answer to that question and it is: money, DC did it to sell more comics under the Batman name but we are going to forget about that here, let me be petty).

Why would DC make it all about a man that doesn’t connect or goes out of his way to say that he “works alone” when Dick Grayson is standing right there? DC hates that they created a character like Dick because he is just better than Bruce at everything, he just is, he is better family to Alfred, Jason, Tim and Damian, he was even written as a better father to Damian than Bruce ever was!

Bruce is just not a people person or a person that forms strong bonds with people. And that makes the whole “Batfamily” concept suffer and come off as something forced that doesn’t actually work.

Tom King was one of the writers that tried to kill the concept of the “Batfamily” with Bruce and Selina becoming a couple and by continuously saying that Selina was who was the most important person in Bruce’s life and the one that made him a better person. All Tom King did with that is make fans and non-fans of the “Batfamily” feel rage. Like, I might not like the “Batfamily” but there is no way that Selina comes first to Alfred, Dick or Damian, there is just no way and if that were actually true then that’s boring.

All the writers that have pushed the “Batfamily” concept (try) do it in a way that makes it look grand and of actual essence but without putting any work on it, if you ask me the “Batfamily” (if there has to be one) should only include Bruce, Alfred (he do be dead though), Dick, Tim, Cass and Damian (I suppose Duke too, I don’t know much about him). The “Batfamily” has to be small because that way you can actually build relationships and make them matter. Having Kate, Steph, Jason and so many others involved in a concept that was made to fit around Bruce looks stupid! Bruce has had almost zero connection to Kate and Steph in the last ten years and Bruce’s “relationship” with Jason is a complete joke!

Bruce is just not the character that is meant to be surrounded by too much people, and he is not a good person towards his family so the whole ass concept should be thrown to the trash and finally let it die. But money is important and if there is something that DC will never stop doing, is milking Batman for content that can be (sometimes) pretty basic.

All in all, I think Bruce sucks and that his “kids” shouldn’t be dragged back to him ever again or at least for a long while. All of them would actually benefit from not being involved with anything relating to Batman. Dick could benefit from Bruce and other Bat-related characters staying away from him and letting him live his life in Bludhaven. And Jason? My sweet Chonky? He would be in such a better place if Bruce disappeared from his life, imagine the actually good books we would have if Jason was free to act the way he was meant to do as the Red Hood…

(We saw a little bit of that in the back up story of Detective Comics by Rosenberg, Batman is still involved but he and Jason are definitely not on the same side of the story! So excited for Task Force Z!)

*Third Person POV*

*A month after the road trip and Jeff, putting another bundle of joy inside his mate*

Y/N was walking through the hallway of the arena while she had one hand on her belly and the other carrying her bag of food and drink. Her baby belly was a little more noticeable now. "Hey Y/N" Undertaker said. "Hey, Uncle Taker." She said looking up at him. "How are you doing?" She asked. "I'm doing fine. How are you and the little ones doing?" She looked up at him confused; because she thought she was only pregnant with one. "The doctor only said, one baby." She said softly. "You don't know do you?" He asked her. "Know what?" She asked. "You're a very rare type of human omega that can get pregnant even though you're already pregnant. It isn't dangerous to you or the babies. But it will put you in danger. Some Alpha's will do whatever it takes to have you and that includes holding you captive and breeding you to make soldiers or a small army" He said. He's older than some people actually know. "But I won't let any harm you." Taker said to her before walking down the hallway.

Y/N, let the words from Undertaker go around and around in her head as she walks to Jeff's locker room. "Hey, Babe." He replied as she walked into the room. "Hey, Darlin'," Y/N replied back to her as she was looking at him from across the room. "We need to have a talk tonight after work." She said to him as she looks at him. "Are you okay? Is the baby hurt? What is wrong?" Jeff said standing up and moving swiftly towards his love. "I am okay. The baby is okay. We just need to talk. I'm not leaving you before you even ask that question next." She said as she looks up at him rubbing his cheek. Jeff relaxed into her soft gentle touch.

"I think you should stay near Undertaker for my match. I have a feeling something is off and it gonna get ugly tonight." Jeff said getting an unsettling feeling that something isn't bad is going to happen and Jeff trusted Undertaker with Y/N's life more than anyone besides her parents. "But I'm supposed to go out there with you tonight Baby," Y/N said to him as she looked at him. "I know Babe, I want you to go out there too. But I have an uneasy feeling that something is going to happen tonight and I don't want you getting in the line of fire or our baby." Jeff said walking to her and carefully rubbing her belly. "Alright, I'll stay by Undertaker tonight." She said looking up at him.

Jeff walked Y/N to where Undertaker was at so, he knew she made it there safely and unharmed. "Hey Taker. Is it okay that she stays with you? I have an uneasy feeling that something is going to happen." He said looking at the taller male. "Yes, she is more than welcome." He said as he looks at a very reluctant Y/N. "As soon as my fight is over Baby, I will be right back here before going anywhere else." He said kissing her lips gently rubbing her cheek and her belly. "Please be careful out there tonight" She said resting her head against his chest. "I will Baby." Jeff said promising the love of his life he would be careful.

Jeff, walked out to the ring getting ready to fight tonight. "This match will be turned into 4 on 4 tag team match. It will be Jeff, Matt, Triple H and Shawn Michaels Vs Edge, Christian, Sheamus and Finn Balor." Lillian announce to the crowd and viewers at home to hear. Y/N's head shot up looking at the tv wide eyes. "No, that wasn't the match he was supposed to be in. Who changed it?" She exclaims looking up at Taker who grabs her hand and heading towards Stephanie's office. "Momma, Dad can't fight and Uncle Shawn can't either." Y/N held her belly on instinct. "I tried to stop the match before it was made. Someone changed it before consulting with us first. Nothing I can do to change it." Steph was furious that someone did this and was about to rip someone a new asshole. "Uncle Taker and Kane please take Daddy's and Uncle Shawn places. They can't fight and the person knows that. They'll be at a disadvantage." She pleads at the two males. Kane looks at Undertaker. "I'll fight tonight." Taker was having a internal battle with himself because he told Jeff, Y/N wouldn't leave his side till the match was over. "Please Uncle Taker" Y/N began to cry in desperation. "Okay Lil One. I will do it. But on the condition you stay by your mother at all times no mater what. Jeff will just have to understand." He said walking out with Kane, and heading to the ring. "I promise" She called out. She hugged her mother tightly. "I got you Baby Girl" She said hushing her Childs cries.

Lightening rang through the arena as Takers music came on and fire surrounds the ring. Jeff sees Kane and Undertaker walking down the ramp. "I have been informed that Triple H and Shawn, will be taken out the match and Undertaker and Kane will be put into the match instead." Lillian announce but silently sighs in relief. "Y/N is supposed to be with you" Jeff said to Taker quietly. "Calm Jeff. She begged us to come out because she knew you'd be at a disadvantage since her Daddy Triple H and uncle Shawn are still healing from two weeks ago. She didn't want you guys to take a chance yourselves considering you two have a tag team title match coming at WrestleMania." Kane said. "I much rather my pregnant mate be safe than myself." Jeff said. Kane and Taker understood his point but also couldn't leave their fellow wrestlers defenseless. "She is safe I promise you. She is with her mother and her momma's ready to rip someone a new Asshole." Undertaker said to him.

Jeff didn't fight with the older man. He knew Y/N, was safe either way. As the match got started Matt and Edge started it off. They didn't hold back on each other either. Lefts and rights were thrown hard and on purpose. "Come on Matt" Kane holler holding his hand out for Matt to tag him in. Matt kicked him Edge in the ribs which gave him the leverage he needed to get away from him so he can tag in Kane. Kane steps over the ropes and started hitting Edge with right, Lefts and wasn't giving him any breathing room. Edge uppercuts Kane when he gets the chance which stuns him and Edge is able to tag in Balor. He has a advantage for a few seconds before Jeff was tagged in and went to town on Balor. Jeff was letting his anger out on his opponent. "You got this Jeff come on" Matt said cheering on his brother. Jeff had twisted his arm behind him and leads him to his corner to tag in the Undertaker.

The match was drawing to a end when Undertaker was tagged back in. He hit Christian with the Tombstone Piledriver and with a count of three Jeff and the others got in the ring raising the Undertakers hand who won them the match. After the mini celebration in the ring everyone walked out. Edge stops Jeff to give him a message. "Hey look I know we aren't the best of friends but I wanna let you know that I saw someone watching your car earlier after you guys got here and someone was following Y/N. It is someone new because I don't know the persons face or scent." Edge said. "Thank you, Edge. I have an uneasy feeling tonight's not over with. whoever made this match done it on purpose but didn't expect Kane and Undertaker to step in." Jeff said to him. "Lita has been uneasy all night worried saying they're coming but didn't get to see their faces when she had a vision. Just be safe." Edge said before walking over to Lita. Jeff mouths a thank you to her. She only nodded her head in response.

Jeff walked to his mother-n-laws office and walked in. "Hey Baby. How are you and the baby?" Jeff asked his mate as he rubbed her back and belly knowing she is tired. "We are perfect. Just tired. How much longer till we can go home?" She asks her mate. "We will be staying with someone for a while. Just got a message from a friend that someone has been watching us and following." Jeff said to Y/N. She whimpered a little in fear. "What?" They heard Steph say. "Baby go get your stuff while I talk to your mom and dad okay?" She nods her head softly. Undertaker was in ear lengths and stayed near her walking her to the dressing room to get her things while Jeff talked to her parents. "Edge stopped me after the match to let me know that people have been following me and Y/N since we been here, and that the scent is unfamiliar and not known around here. He also mentioned Lita had a vision that someone is coming but she couldn't see their faces." Jeff said to Triple H and Steph. "Why are they after you or her or both of you?" Steph asked. "I don't know but I think is has something to do with her being pregnant by me." He said to her. "Whatever it takes you protect her, you here me?" Triple H said to him. "Yes Sir. I'll give my last breath to protect her if that's what it take for her to live." Jeff said unknowing that that statement was about to be put to the test.

While Jeff is taking to Steph and Triple H, Y/N is getting her stuff ready to go when the lights in the building suddenly shut off and came back on. In a blink of an eye Y/N was gone. Jeff ran down the hallway to his dressing room. "Holy hell. Taker are you good?" Jeff asked helping him up. "I was hit over the head after the lights went out. When they came back on she was gone." He said to Jeff, holding the back of his head. "It is newbies trying to rise up through the business so, their going after one of the top dogs here. Y/N's going to be their pawn to use as an advantage. They know no, one will do anything to harm her but they know you will go looking for her. If it comes down to it they'll do unspeakable things to her. Especially since they know she is able to get pregnant multiple times at once. She is a Human Omega it is rare for ones like her to be able to carry more than one baby at a time." Undertaker said to Jeff. Jeff paces thinking at what way he can approach this with out his Omega Mate getting hurt. "Jeff you aren't in this alone." Shawn said walking in the room with Kane, walking over to his brother and checking the back of his head. "We will fight with you over her" Triple H said. "Just be ready for a battle to start." Steph said.

He was careful and tactical with his words even with how angry he was. He won't give the kidnappers the satisfaction to see his pain because once he does they have the power. "You come here" He said to a camera man. "Sir?" he said stepping in the ring with Jeff. "I want you to tape this live." He said. The male nods his head in fear sensing the anger and absolute power dripping off the man. He put the cam on his shoulder and began to tape. "I hope you sick fuckers are listening. You think it was wise for you take a mans pregnant mate. Especially a dangerous man like me who will stop at nothing to get her back. You wanted a battle? A battle you can't possibly come out standing on top. We will see who is left standing when I am done with you because you opened the gates of hell and stepped into my cage!!!" He said looking into the cam. "I won't be alone when I get my hands on you."

She heard her Alpha on the tv and she smiles to herself knowing the men that took her are about to know why Jeff is one of the most feared men in the Wwe besides Undertaker and Kane. not to be extra but I basically live on ao3 so let me go through my gigantic pile of bookmarks to find some good fics. and i saw that an anon already told you about the filter system. hooray! ao3 really is a great site for its amazing filter system.

I mean, just look at this. You can include and exclude multiple tags and fandoms for crossovers or if you want to avoid certain crossovers!

I mean, god, you can even put in specific word counts and word count ranges, if the fic is complete or not, and the window of time of the last time the fic was updated and exclude all crossovers at once! I am not kidding when I say I am in love with this filter system. In fact, I want to marry it.

Anyhow, without further ado, here are some of my recs!

Superb Series

Settle Our Bones, a series wherein Jason doesn't die in Ethiopia but Tim joins the Batfamily early because of (unplanned) sleepovers and unfortunate events (including a blizzard, multiple trips to the Er and below average Drake parents). it is centered around Alfred, Bruce, Dick, Jason and Tim. i love how domestic it is. Jason is a hilarious mother hen in this one and it has a top tier dad Bruce. it might be one of the best dad Bruce written. the series is overall rated Teen, fucking funny, fluffy and hurt/comfort. the fics in the series are not too long, with the fic in the series with the highest chapter count having 6 chapters.

His Kids, His Life, one of my favourite ones holy shit do I love this one. Read it read it at least check it out please. Set in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series universe (you don't need to know much about the series to read this). The Justice League doesn't know Batman's real identity and all think he's a grouch, while in reality he is just a tired single dad of 6 (RIP). His oldest is Dick (thirteen years old) and his youngest is Damian (two years old). Other than them, you got Jason, Cass (both are ten), Steph (seven) and Tim (six). What I love most about this one is how with other Batfam fics, you got Bruce parenting teenage vigilantes. Here, you get to see how Bruce would do as a dad to a bunch of mostly normal young children. It is amazing. He calls them honeypuppies. Jason calls him dad. Tim calls him daddy. It is Pure Domestic Fluff. The series is centered around the main fic (All I Have) and one side story (Sometimes, Fate Deserves Fracturing). The writer is so so so talented and I love how they write the interactions between this unconventional batfamily.

Outstanding One-Shots

The Cape Void, this one has the whole gang! From Alfred, Bruce, Dick, Jason, Cass to Steph, Tim, Duke and Damian. Batman's cape is a void, that's why all the batkids can all fit in at once. Crack taken seriously, fluff fluff fluff, they confuse the rest of the caped community and rated Teen <3.

in doctor's office lighting (i didn't tell you i was scared), a fic where Tim gets meningitis after a hairline fracture and because he has no spleen. I just.... how do i explain this fic. it made me feel so many emotions? it is centered around Alfred, Dick, Bruce, Tim, Jason and Damian. We have angst, humour, hurt/comfort, great batfam interactions, and just so. many. emotions. I am pretty sure I actually laughed out loud and cried at this. I am not ashamed. it is just that good. rated Teen. I don't know what else to say. read it.

you're done with all the talk talk talk, a Cass centered one-shot about her love for dancing and her family. I was getting tired of typing this all up but I just cannot for the life of me make a batfam fic rec list without putting in this fic. the writing is of the stuff of gods. it is just so good i even made a web weave inspired by this fic (here, unashamed plugging lmao). the fic also includes the Rows (Harper & Cullen). there is just so much love stored in this fic. rated Gen. if i could only recommend one batfam fic, it would be this one. just.... please, give it a go, check it out, give it some love <3.

Any good batfamily fics? I've been scrounging around Ao3 (admittedly not that long, I'm at rehearsal) but can't seem to find one without ships between Robins (idk if those are generally accepted or problematic???) or a miraculous crossover??? Maybe I'm searching under the wrong tags?? help

But then, 2 hours later the boys show up and it goes exactly like this^

And the crew got it ALL on camera

Later on, the girls show up and force Bruce down into the living room for movie night, and the entire camera team is just so confused because it's not going how they thought it would be

Steph ends up leaving to go get more popcorn and a few of the camera team follow her and start to question her

Steph: You guys have looked surprised the whole night, were you expecting to find out that B is actually a monster?

*Camera crew nods hesitantly*

Steph: He may not be the best father but he's not the worst

Steph: And the whole he beats up thing is totally bogus, we almost shut that down immediately but we like to bother him about it

Camera guy: Then why has he been all tense and shifty this whole time? How do we know you're not just defending him?!

Steph: He's tense cause he thinks you are judging his interior decorating and parenting skills, which you are so he's not wrong

Steph: And I'm going to debunk the who "He beats his children" thing B doesn't hit us (my batman would never beat his kids and you can fight me about it) he has taught all of us to fight though

Steph: We're big targets and he knows that so we can typically protect ourselves from people, but that came with the consequence that we can now effectively fight each other and he has to stop us from nearly killing each other

Steph: Jason learned very quickly not to touch my hairdryer when I threw a butterknife at him, he put flour in it my first week here

Camera guy: Yeah I get it, I have siblings too. Really surprised that I didn't see that one coming

Steph: Yeah, plus Dick grew up in a circus and keeps teaching us things, he's why the chandelier and curtain racks are reinforced, he sleeps in the strangest places sometimes *shakes head and walks away with popcorn*

In conclusion, the Waynes are outed as a chaotic group of himbos and bad bitches, and that Bruce is actually just a very tired dad himbo with decorative insecurities
