I have some great ideas, but I don't know if you will agree with me. I also like to watch anime and read various manga, but one thing came to my mind and I'm not sure if you will agree with me? What if Ducktales 2017 was supposedly like Astra Lost in Space? It would totally suit the DuckTales characters, especially the kids who would exist as teenagers. I'm looking at it right now and I kind of think it would be really good for my DuckTales story in space, except it would be in the far future. Do you agree with me?

requiescat in pace (a "per aspera ad astra" drabble)
main masterlist | series masterlist | read on ao3 pairing: marcus acacius x emperor's daughter!reader. summary: you learn of marcus' son's death. a/n: welp... yea. can what i say, i enjoy making these two suffer c: apologies for the brief passenger's lyrics references. i appreciate comments and reblogs, they make me happy knowing that people enjoy my writing <3 take care x warnings: 18+, mdni. angst (what a surprise). mentions of death. marcus says "my lady" and i think that should be a warning. let's just assume that this whole series is pure angst, alright? w/c: 2.1k
“Did you offer your condolences to General Acacius, filia mea (my daughter)?”
Your father’s question broke the trance you had sunk into, the bronze spoon falling from your trembling fingers onto the porcelain plate set in front of you.
Leaning back, you looked at your father as if he had spoken a different language. Surely you misheard him — your mind still numb with grief, unable to process anything since you received the news of your husband’s demise.
It had been three days and the gaping hole in your heart had only gotten bigger. Like an umbra lurking in the shadows, you had stayed in your shared bedroom, crying your sorrow onto Resius’ breastplate, hugging the last piece of him you would ever hold. You grieved for your love but also for the life you would never spend with him, for all those precious moments that would remain in your memory as what if’s gnawing at the confines of your mind.
But now, right now, your pain lessened for a second, your brain focusing on something else.
“What do you mean, Caesar?” you whispered, voice cracking in the last inflexion.
The Emperor eyed you from across the dining table, silence lingering and stretching in the space between you. Your heartbeat picked up its pace, the wait almost forcing you up to stand on your feet.
“General Acacius lost his heir at the battle of Sarmizegetusa. He has asked to return to Dacia to retrieve the body of his son and bring him back home for proper burial,” he explained with caution, watching your every expression.
Your heart had now climbed up your throat, the pulse wild in your eardrums. You hadn’t misheard, your father had said Acacius very clearly, dragging the word out.
Mind racing, you fidgeted with your hands on your lap, twisting them in despair as you tried to recall your conversation with him a few days ago. “He’s resting now,” he had said when you asked about Augustus.
Resting. You had assumed he meant that his son was back at his villa, resting from the extraneous physical toll a battle would take on the body. Not for one second had you considered that Marcus actually meant resting in peace.
You had been so blind, letting your own grief consume you, you had not noticed the tells in the General’s behaviour. The feeble smile, the downcast almost solemn expression, the stiffened nod he gave you, the brevity of his response. It all made sense now, and you couldn’t help but feel… selfish. So drowned in your sorrow, Acacius had kept it together so you could cry your loss in his embrace.
Your stomach churned at the thought — the General had no one left by his side. No wife and no son waiting for his return, not even his best friend. How would he have felt in the emptiness of his home with no one there to console him? You at least had your family and closest friends, who had checked on you from time to time to ensure you were safe.
Had someone checked on the General?
“May I take my leave, pater (father)?” you requested with your gaze averted, a sudden need to find General Acacius, your hands twisting uncontrollably.
You needed to know he was… okay. Alive? He had talked to someone at least, asked to go back to Dacia to get his only son back home. You could only imagine his heartbreak, the hell he must be going through. The thought of him dealing with all of it alone… it fractured a piece of your soul.
The Emperor watched you attentively, eyes lingering on the full plate in front of you. There was something about his wary demeanor that didn’t click right away — and right now you were too preoccupied with something else to be paying attention to politics.
“You may go, but tread carefully, filia mea,” was his veiled answer.
With no time to waste, you stood up and curtsied before disappearing from the dining hall.
Marcus’ body was controlled by another being — a non-sentient one. He got up, attended his duties to the Empire, paid a visit to the barracks in the outskirts to train with his army, and then got back to an empty home.
It all felt like a sick loop, one he could not break from. His feelings had deserted him, leaving him be a hollow carcass of who he once was. There was no joy, no incentive to even pretend there was.
It took him a couple of days to finally let the dam crack in the solace of his villa. It all came to be because of something as simple as Augustus’ toy gladius. The one that Marcus himself had forged for his son’s tenth birthday. Little Augustus had been so excited, he had almost hit his head against the edge of the dining table while running around wielding his new toy. That memory had resurfaced unexpectedly and the smile that came with it quickly mutated into a sad grimace.
He longed for something that that was safe and warm, but all he had was all that was gone. Marcus felt as helpless and as hopeless as a feather on the Tiber. And the river was wide, so much he was scared he wouldn’t make it to the other side. And what would he find on the opposite shore? Did he really want to cross?
Marcus couldn’t, at least not yet. He needed closure before he could carry on with his life, if that was even a possibility. Augustus belonged in the family’s mausoleum next to his mother, so they could both be laid to rest in peace together. With Dacia under the iron fist of the Romans, he could retrace his steps and get his heir back home.
His leave had been approved that same afternoon. In a hurry, he had packed the bare necessities he would need for the long trip and headed towards the barracks once more. In the stables his stallion was awaiting, all prepped by one of the ostlers.
He was ensuring that the saddle was properly on when a gentle voice called his name.
“General Acacius,” as soon as you spoke, he recognised your delicate accent.
Marcus turned around, his back bending immediately at your presence.
“My lady,” he whispered, eyes fixed on the straw splayed across the dirt on the floor.
What brought you here, he wondered. The horses belonging to Traianus’ family were kept elsewhere, away from the mediocrity of the reminders of war. This was no place for someone of noble birth like you. It reeked of the musky scents of nature to which he was immune now, but you sure weren’t.
Your hand found the way to his shoulder, a light tap to silently ask him to straighten out his posture. He obliged, his brown orbs showing his confusion at finding you here. And you seemed unbothered about the mess surrounding you.
“How may I be of service?” his question was a trained response, the only reason for you being here was that you required something of him.
Perhaps you needed to know how everything unfolded so you also got closure. Perhaps you required details, something more than just a “General Atticus perished at the mercy of a Dacian sword” — had he been too concise in his explanation, too General-y? Or perhaps you were after the reassurance of a life well lived with your husband, a reminder that there had been light amongst the darkness.
The Gods knew he felt that way sometimes too.
“That is not why I am here, General,” you hummed with a broken smile, your hand dropping off his shoulder like the last needle-like leaves clinging onto a toppling, decaying cypress after a wildfire.
Your admission took him aback, unsure now of what else you could need of him. What else would he have to give for Rome to appease the Emperor — was his heir not enough? But you weren’t your father; Resius would always say you were too kind of a soul, would only speak high praise of you. But was not that what a husband was supposed to say about his spouse, especially Traianus’ daughter?
So perhaps he was mistaken in that regard, although he couldn’t know. Marcus had interacted with you multiple times, in serious and more relaxed settings, but the barrier was always there — he was just a General you graced with your presence because of Resius. You participated in conversation, laughed at Resius’ and his jokes and offered words of wisdom to Augustus like the mother he never had.
But despite all of that, he didn’t really know you. Knew your persona, the way you portrayed yourself to the crowds, but it was fair to wonder how much of it was just a front.
That was, at least, until three sunsets ago, when you cried your loss with him — something he had not expected. How your façade tumbled the moment his perhaps-not-so-carefully-delivered words furrowed through your mind until they took root. How he tried to console you in spite of his own sorrow.
The crease between his brows accentuated slightly, a small tell of his confusion.
“I heard,” you only said, a whisper that made his skin crawl with anguish, his throat squeeze.
The softness of your eyes left no room for misinterpretation, an unmistakable mist in them. About your son’s death, was the bit you did not pronounce out loud.
His chest tightened as his gaze drifted down, catching a glimpse of your fidgety hands, twisting nervously.
Did you feel guilty? Was that the purpose of your unexpected visit?
“My son lived and died for the glory of Rome, Your Highness. Honourable to the end, he gladly gave his life for the Emperor and the cause. A warrior’s death, I couldn’t be any more proud of his sacrifice,” he attempted to put your mind at ease, tone steady repeating the words he had been saying every time someone approached him with empty condolences.
Your hands paused wriggling, your expression shadowed by his automatic reply.
“Oh, Marcus,” you whispered, taking a step forward but stopping yourself before you reached for his forearm. “You don’t need to— to pretend this is okay. It’s not,” your trembling fingers played with the golden bracelet adorning your wrist. “War is a disease, an ailment to mankind, to ourselves and our loved ones. I regret to know that you have given so much for Rome’s thirst. You shouldn’t have to. My father… he asks too much of his people,” you added, the mist in your eyes developing into a single tear falling off your bottom lashes. “Far too much.”
Pain stirred within him, lost for words he was. What you just said was a good outline of his own feelings — thoughts he couldn’t put into words, because they would sound treacherous. Did you really mean it?
“I… thank you, Domina mea. I appreciate your sentiment,” he accepted with a stiff nod, his voice raspier than usual. But he wouldn’t let emotion overcome him.
“I was informed you have taken leave to bring Augustus back home. I came to see if you would accept a few soldiers of my own personal guard to escort you,” you offered, your tone gentle and delicate.
Marcus was moved by your offer, one he didn’t expect. Were you worried for his safe return? That the journey back with his dead son in tow would break him, his resolution? Because he was worried too.
“I am touched, my lady, truly. But it’s not necessary. Some of my men will be accompanying me,” he assured you.
Marcus was lucky to have loyal fighting men under his banner. People he could blindly trust in battle, and outside of it.
“Please, send for me upon your return, General. I would like to attend Augustus’ wake. Unless you want it to be private, in which case I completely understand,” you almost stumbled with your own words towards the end, lips pursed with nervousness.
Resius was right. You were too kind of a soul, worrying for him when you had your own demons to deal with. The dull ache blanketing his heart lifted ever so slightly, your petition soothing and a reminder that he was not alone in grief. You would understand.
So Marcus nodded, his throat tighter.
“I will, Augusta (Imperial Princess),” a promise he would keep.
“Safe travels, General. May Salus watch over you.”

love ur blog!! I check it out before starting an anime/manga 💞
just wondering do u have any recommendations for complete anime/mangas?
thank u either way!!!
Completed??????
Manga:
Fullmetal Alchemist- the gold standard
Silver Spoon- by the same person who did FMA. Agricultural school stuff. Cute.
Agravity Boys- space sci-fi gag comedy, a wild ride to say the least, I miss my stupid boys
Magu-chan: God of Destruction- cute digimon/pokemon-shaped gods get woken up and mingle with a bunch of middle schoolers. Cute fluff mostly, will occasionally pull at your heartstrings (including the ending)
High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku- comedy/ slice of life, about an entire family attending high school. Has a volleyball arc that rivals the likes in haikyuu!!
Haikyuu!!-sports manga, if you want to cry over boys and their love for the game then this is for you, Boys x Volleyball is the tru otp of the show
Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku- dark historical fantasy, so very, very good. Don't get attached.
Dr. STONE- sci fi, technically the main story is complete. We still have been getting the occasional side chapter or three that continue where the main story left off tho. A very solid shonen jump series. includes one of the best shonen jump dads in the history of ever. Will make u emotional over lightbulbs and stuff. hard not to root for the main cast.
Dr. STONE Reboot: Byakuya- a non-canon little one volume spin-off about byakuya and mainly about a funky lil robot that will make you sob uncontrollably I'd personally say to read up to the end of the Treasure Island arc in the main story first before tackling this one (about ch 140ish)
Dr. STONE 4D Science- a continuation of the main story, only a couple chapters, the ending is a really cruel tease imo and if Inagaki/Boichi don't give us more may they be cursed to lose all their left shoes forever
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Sanji- spin-off of sanji side stories by the duo who did food Wars. ONE PIECE related ofc. Tasty looking food. Sanji too cool for school. One volume.
Astra Lost in Space- space sci fi survival, solid story that deserves more appreciation, the ending is just a tad lackluster in actually showing what a lot of readers would have liked to physically see. By no means ruins the story tho.
Blue Flag (Ao no Flag)- high school, romance, slice of life, boys and gals just trying to figure out life and relationships. Solid.
Mashle: Magic and Muscles- gag comedy that leans a little too much into the shonen battle-esque stuff towards the end imo, but a decently enjoyable time. A mash up of Harry Potter and other various manga like mob, opm, etc.
Mitama Security: Spirit Busters- comedy, axed but I enjoyed it. Goofy fun. nothing spectacular but reading it won't hurt anyone.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes- spin-off of mha obviously, average joe Koichi >>> deku FIGHT ME, the goodest of boys, world building u don't get in the main series, Aizawa's backstory, Knuckleduster is the man the myth the legend.
Chihayafuru- screaming crying throwing up, it's niche it's technically a sports manga, romance, female MC, growth™, love triangle but at the end of the day that's not what's important
My Love Mix-Up!- comedy romance, big big mix-up on who loves who and lots of shenanigans ensue.
Noragami- TECHNICALLY not complete until like 2 days from now when the final chapter releases. my emotions! MY EMOTIONS!!!! 😭
Gintama- comedy/gag with dashes of really good drama
I have no idea what your tastes are, anon, so here's a mix that I've personally enjoyed. Some of them were axed, but technically that makes them complete so I included them :P yes I cheated.
Anime:
There's a lot less of them bc I haven't actually watched a lot of completed series.
Run with the Wind- more boys x sports but this time it's about running. Also the boys are in college. Will trick u into wanting to run.
91 days- ol timey story about VENGEANCE. Set during the prohibition.
Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann- makes you emotional and feel all fuzzy inside, sci fi, mecha
Cowboy Bebop- a classic
Samurai Champloo- also a classic and I actually prefer this one over cowboy bebop tbh, god tier baseball episode
Astra Lost in Space-the anime version, if you'd prefer watching over reading, but I always prefer manga > anime just cause.
FMA 03/FMA BROTHERHOOD- the gold standard. I appreciate both versions. 03 goes the anime original ending root bc obviously the manga wasn't completed yet no biggie.
Mob Psycho 100- MOB!MOB!MOB! and tumblr sexy man reigen arataka
Gintama- animated version alternative lol. The voice actors bring the characters to life.
Obv there are the old school classics like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Gundam and all that jazz if you haven't already checked out some of those. Oldies but goodies.
#ask#manga rec#anime rec#pretty positive i've read more axed manga than those who've reached thier natural conclusion#doesn't mean they shouldn't get some appreciation#manga#anime

The spectacular sci-fi anime you've probably never watched
Astra Lost in Space is the best anime you probably have never watched. It is a suspenseful show with incredible music and a perfect atmosphere. It is a heartfelt anime that will leave you hooked. It's spectacular ride from start to finish and I’m here to tell you why.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Astra Lost in Space is a show that starts with some kids going to camp however they get stranded in space and must find their way back home despite the constant obstacles standing in their path. Through this journey they must discover the mysteries of the world and discover how the very foundation of what they believe may not be entirely correct. It is a show on uncovering lies and discovering the true nature of others in order to survive. It even delves into the world as we know it and historical events. I cannot go over any plot points without ruining the show. It’s one that is best to go through completely blind in order to experience it at its fullest potential.
Initially I found this anime through a complete accident. I was watching Blue Period due to my love of art however I found myself not enjoying it for some reason but I did enjoy the opening. So I decided to take a break and listen to the full version, after the song ended a certain track called Star*frost autoplayed. It was strange that happened considering I always had autoplay turned off but perhaps it was fate. I noticed I liked the art and the name of the show sounded cool and I loved the opening song so being the Sci-fi nerd that I was I could not resist the idea of watching it. Normally I take ages to start an anime but for some reason I started this one immediately. I initially intended to watch one episode before going to bed but instead it left me hooked. I ended up finishing the entire show in one night.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Astra lost in Space has its humor and light hearted moments along with its tense and dramatic scenes. It has memorable music in that it could touch your heart while simultaneously allowing you to feel the same anxiety the characters feel through it all. The music is spectacular for the atmosphere and memorable. It has emotional tracks as well.
The animation for the show is brilliant thus allowing the many planets the characters explore to be memorable. The animation is perfect for the atmosphere of the show, every tense and emotional scene is animated with such care that those scenes really stand out 8j the show.
In a way the story of this show reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles and Persona. My two favourite video games franchises.
Xenoblade for its atmosphere in exploring the unknown and a plot that goes over the ambitions of mankind with plenty of plot twists to keep you craving for more. It’s similar to Persona in that it follows a large well developed cast uncovering a mystery together all while dealing with the notion that there may be a traitor amongst their midst. By the end of the show it’s hard not to get attached to the characters with how much you have seen them struggle and grow. It has a charming cast of characters that all change through the course of the show. They all have the secrets they keep from each other however the bonds they manage to forge by the end of the show are sweet. Each of the characters manages to find a family together, even if for others it may seem harder or even impossible to do.
Astra Lost in Space is an anime that makes me very emotional. I honestly cried while writing this but remembering this show just makes me very happy. It's a show I hold very close to my heart. It was a roller coaster of emotions, it made me cry, it made me feel tense and anxious, it made me smile. It scared me, it gave me chills, it did it all. It reminded me how well stories can truly be. It's a show that touched my heart in so many ways. This is a journey I cannot recommend enough, it is my favorite anime to exist and I hope that other people can take it upon themselves to give it a chance and remember if you don’t want to watch the anime, there’s always the manga too :)
I would like to thank everyone that made it through the end of this essay. I hope you consider giving this incredible show a watch. I find it very special and perfect. I hope whoever is reading this enjoys it as much as I do.
On a side note please do not skip the endings, there's important after credit scenes on each episode.

Who are your Top 10 ladies of Star Trek? They can be from any and all shows, movies, or timelines.
Sorry for taking so long to answer this! I had to give it some thought, because Star Trek is full of wonderful ladies. Here it goes, and I tried to do it in reverse order but maybe it's not 100% exact and it will probably change in the future.
10. Erica Ortegas. I have a soft spot for pilots, and she's one of the best.
9. The Lady Grilka. She was only in one episode, but I adore the DS9 Klingons... and the first Klingon woman to have her own House deserves to be on the list. A complete badass.
8. D’Vana Tendi. My favorite Lower Decker and my favorite Orion, she's a ray of sunshine.
7. Uhura. Both versions, the TOS and the SNW ones. Just amazing.
6. Jadzia Dax. Gone too soon, I love her sense of humor.
5. Una Chin-Riley. The second season of SNW made her jump un several places on my list of favorites. Ad Astra Per Aspera!
4. Seven of Nine. I saw her go from the poor lost ex-Borg drone to space pirate to badass Captain, and it was magnificent. I may not agree with some writing decisions on the Picard series, but Seven is one of my favorites forever.
3. B'Elanna Torres. The best Chief Engineer anyone could want. She was so full of (mostly righteous) rage, and that resonated with me a lot the first time I watched Voyager back in the 90s.
2. Kira Nerys. Like B'Elanna, I saw myself in her a lot when I was a teenager watching the series. Outspoken and passionate, she was everything I wanted to be.
Top of the list couldn't be anyone else than than Kathryn Janeway. My girl, my Captain, my coffee-chugging idol. If I had to choose one Starfleet captain as my favorite, it would be her.
Thanks for the ask! You gave me something to think about today.

Fandom Saturday, Astra: Lost in Space
Recommended to me by Hailey.
I'll admit, the overall idea of the anime intrigued me, but I started to get a little bored during it, until some of the big reveals came...
I did not expect it to go that way.
I listened to most of this anime in the background until the reveals came and at that point my eyes were glued to the screen. I almost want to rewatch it just because of the stuff I missed the first time.
I do have a few qualms with it though. I felt like for a bunch of kids that don't really know what they're doing, they had it extremely easy. Traveling 5012 lightyears away to get to home as ill experienced as they are should've come with a lot more losses, but they point that out in the end and I can appreciate the overall message they were trying to portray with that. Yes, it can be dangerous. It can be scary. But it's important to always move forward and to interpret things for yourself. If they had filled the trip with more hardship, then people would be more hesitant to travel and less curious.
Also, absolutely love Luca! I won't spoil why, but I really love how they a person like him. If you've seen the anime and enjoy his as well, I recommend reading this fic from tuuli, as she has a character going through a similar situation. (Don't you dare click on it tuuli! Spoilers. No!) But I also love his attitude about it. So many awkward scenes only made more awkward by him playing into it. XDXDXD Anyway, I love this kid. Not enough to adopt him into my harem, but I love him. He's my favorite. 💙 Incorrect quote, but... "What will you always remember?" Luca: "I'll remember being forced to strip naked in front of everyone at gunpoint on the beach." XD Oh my god, I'm dying...
I really liked it though. They were really creative with the habitats of the different planets they visited and it actually made me wonder for a moment if the creator was inspired by this space documentary on Netflix because they shared a lot of ideas with each other. 😅 But like I said, the twist? It really catches you by surprise. So I recommend putting it on in the background, paying some attention to it, and right around the last few episodes, it'll probably have you restarting the episode so you can watch it. It's just so good. And it's only 12 episodes long. Highly recommend. And yes, Kanata, it needed to have an ear pick and not a gun upgrade. XD
Have a lovely day everyone!

Intro:
* Mod is 18
* Mod is a bio female, no weird asks or anything for me specifically
* This is an RP blog for my Honkai OC Astralon Orion, aka Astra. I'll make a full blown lore post some time.
*my main blog is @the-void-via so i'll follow from there! I also post a lot about Astra there, too. I might start reblogging my posts onto here but I need to think about it still.
Character Info:
Astralon is a being made of the stars, born with the fabric of space weaved into their blood, as they would say. Their gender is malleable, they can quite literally change physical genders at will.
They go by they/them pronouns, no matter what body type they have.
There are some subjects that they are very, very touchy with...but they don't like to talk about it. If you're brave enough, you may try to talk to them about it.
Link to the official Astra fic I'm writing! The Moon Will Sing
Character Story 1
Voice Lines
10 followers event!! Here (Ended as of 11/2/24)
Relationships:
Astral Express:
Trailblazer (Caelus/Stelle), good friends, they met them during their 'visit' to the Xianzhou
March 7th, also good friends, but she's a little hyperactive for them
Dan Heng, friends. They don't know much about him yet.
Welt Yang, acquainted. They hold him in respect due to their knowledge and age.
Himeko, also acquainted. She reminds them of their 'mother'.
PomPom, they love them. They always give them a hug every time they're on the Express.
Jarilo-IV:
Ahanon, friends with them. Hasn't spent too too much time together but they're fond of them
Gepard, somewhat friends. He's helped them many times when getting lost outside of Belobog
The Xianzhou Alliance:
Jing Yuan, very good friends. They hold deep respect and attraction for him, as he was one of the first people to help them adjust to the physical plane.
Bailu, best friends. She was the first to find them after the fall, and the one who healed them and watched over them during their first week. They love her, platonically of course.
Jiaoqiu, good friends, they also hold attraction for the cheeky Foxian. They love the food he makes, but they can't handle spice all that well
Feixiao, friends. They've talked with her many times for many different matters, and she always seems willing to lend an ear.
Moze, friends. They're starting to warm up to him and finding, yet again, some attractions to him. It will take a little bit to get used to his strange nature though
Yanqing, friendly but not quite friends. The young boy can tell how much they like Jing Yuan, and he won't make it easy to get his blessings. Astra sees him as Jing Yuan's son, so they go along with his 'tests'

Review of Astra Lost in Space (spoilers)
I’m mildly surprised this show won an award. There wasn’t anything super bad about it, but there wasn’t anything super good either. It was a nice story, and it was nice that they were able to tell the whole thing in one season without cliffhangers or cancellations. But it was mid. The characters were fun, and we got to see some fun and cute interactions. The mystery was pretty decent, enough to keep you watching. There were some cool action scenes. I’d probably recommend it if you didn’t have anything else to watch.
My main complaint is that all the characters seemed kind of dumb, even for teenagers, but especially for teenagers that were specially trained from a young age. They made a lot of stupid, careless choices and every dramatic revelation felt obvious, rather than feeling like a big plot point. It made the overall pacing of the show and the mystery very awkward. The characters felt quite flat as well. It’s difficult to have time to characterize everyone when you have a cast of 9 people, but they made an effort to touch on everyone’s backstory since it becomes relevant to the plot later. The problem is that they were all kind of the same. Each had a neglectful parent, and suffered from inattention or scorn. And each one, it was because they were clones. It was almost the same story seven times over, except for Aries and Fumi, whom we know even less about. Don’t get me wrong, their stories were tragic, and probably hold shades of reality for some, it just naturally has less impact the seventh time you hear it. Anyway, the lack of information on the characters made the interactions we see less impactful. They’re cute, but forgettable. The romance scenes barely hit at all for me. It was extremely ironic to see everyone freaking out at Zach’s love confession because to me it felt really hollow and stupid.
The plot overall felt a little circular. The premise of having to planet hop to get home naturally means you go through the same cycle of getting in danger on a planet, fixing the danger, gathering supplies, and spending time in FTL. The planets and the dangers were a little different each time. It was enough to keep watching, and we learned a bit more about the characters and the mystery each time. Still, it got a little repetitive for me. I also felt that the big reveal of the home planet being Astra rather than Earth was kind of unnecessary, in a way. There was enough meat with the clone/murder mystery thing, if it was done well. It felt weird to throw that in so late in the game since it didn’t really change anything. Like the characters still had to get home, to Astra, they still had to sort out the clone thing, they’re not going to go back to Earth or anything. It felt like an excessively dramatic way to explain the black hole in the beginning, which could have been explained a lot of other ways. I think the writers wanted to squeeze in a moral about seeing the world as it is, questioning the world around you, being your own person, etc. That’s all good I’m just saying it felt off, kind of a pacing thing again.
It was enjoyable, at least, so 7/10.

>> i am a firm believer that when woonhak first crushed on you, his hyungs would find out affer seeing him on his phone more than usual. LIKE WOONHAK!! WHO ARE U SMILING ABOUT?
>> and the funny thing is he wouldn’t allow anybody to know. like they’d finish a performance and woonhak would dash straight to his phone. very very suspicious of him!!
>> his hyungs find out after jaehyun heard woonhak giggling at night, then he’d have no choice but to explain to his groupmates that he has a tiny little crush.

I DO WATCH ANIME! i was actually an anime kid way before i got into kpop... the one i recently finished watching was jujutsu kaisen! i started collecting the manga recently. i've also read all of chainsaw man (up until the new arc that released recently) and i have yet to watch the anime!
actually a lot of my favorites are ones i read.... next to those i absolutely adore orange (read not watched), and erased! one of my favorite underground animes though is astra lost in space i recommend! :3
also lack of writing skills rn is real LMAO
crush stage woonhak is actually the cutest :( him running to just giggle his ass off about reader!
imagining them facetiming at night and jaehyun walks in asking what he's up to as he shoves the phone under the pillow acting all nonchalant, readers muffled voice coming from underneath LOL
i feel like whenever woonhak has a s/o, she is immediately adopted into the fam! treated just as cutely as woonie and always doted on. maybe jaehyun steals her away to tease his maknae :) and she plays along by hiding in all the best spots in the house while everyone pretends like they don't know wtf is going on LMAO

a very late birthday party
Name: Cecilia Age: 26 City: Brooklyn In the last year, what is one thing you have loved: It's a cop out answer, but I love my friends and thus, I have loved every instance in which I was shown love or had the opportunity to show love. I loved when Lynne and Kevin and Marvin and Grace helped me move into my current apartment. I loved treating them all to lunch at Dar 525. I loved when Grace made bossam TWICE this year. I loved watching Astra Lost in Space with Grace and Eric and how Eric would coerce me into watching "just one more" despite the fact we promised Jane we would wait for her. I loved that Tommy and James coordinated buying me a cake for my birthday and how all my Calgary friends saw kungfu panda with me on my bday. I loved when Rachel yelled "YOU WENT TO RAT SCHOOL?!?" across the dinner table because she couldn't hear Annie properly. I loved that Annie edited my SFPC application with me. I loved how forgiving and loving Lynne is to me despite the fact I had been a shitty friend all winter. I loved going to San Diego with friends and I loved that Jocelyn came to visit this Spring. I loved how I got to take care of Laika for Kevin and truly understand that I am not that good with dogs even though I love animals. I love Grace and I's shared oil paint set. I loved hanging out with Grace and Eric on a weeknight spontaneously and watching weird little animes while eating their leftovers. I loved when Jane brought me home a quarter of a souffle pancake from Rule of Thirds. I loved when she brought me home a pomengranete for us to split and I inhaled mine in three minutes then went to the grocery store and when I came back she was still picking at hers. I loved coming home on Wednesdays to neighbourhood group and seeing Rachel and Nathan and Eunice and Sarah. I loved hosting game night at Kevin's place and how many of my friends don't even know Kevin but they know his dog and where he lives. I loved getting to meet new people like Erik and Alice and Gwen and Rachel and Olivia...I love knowing that so many of these people will be in my life a very long time. It makes New York feel small and bright. In the last year, what is one thing you have learned: I could live with Jane forever <3 What is one way you have grown: I made it to my late twenties and I finally finally feel like an adult. I'm not scared of calling customer service and I stand up for myself at work. I am no longer scared of adults. They do not feel like adults, they feel like people. What is one thing that you hope for in the next year: I hope for a healthier relationship with creativity. To create out of delight and out of curiousity. To take myself and my work lightly but to prioritize the making.

The urge to follow Felix's thoughts feels too shallow for Astra. She doesn't just want to follow. She wants to fall completely into them, to know what he sees, what he feels. But then that soft belief of hers tugs again, her faith in the beauty of secrets, how natural it is to keep pieces hidden. Maybe she'll never truly know what Felix thinks, and that only pulls her closer. Watching him, seeing the way his eyes hold hers with something deeper than interest, she feels comforted. Felix isn't trying to figure her out or explain her. He simply sees her and loves her.
"I would never curse you." she says with a small laugh, her voice carrying the lingering amusement from her earlier attempt at that impossible word. The way Felix teases her never feels sharp or unkind, and it makes her wonder at the weight of words at all. He'd argue, she knows that. Words matter to him. They anchor things, make them real, give them substance. But for Astra, words feel like mere signposts, vague approximations of feelings that are too big to put in boxes. Phenomenology makes sense to her because it's about the spaces in between, the feelings that linger rather than the definitions. Still, she knows words have meaning because people give them meaning. Felix sharing this knowledge with her isn't just words, it's a kind of love. She smiles softly at the thought, her hand reaching up to cup his face as her voice dips with sincerity. "You know me. I love you for that."
Their tenderness is always there, unmistakable, even when the night starts to pick up with a buzz of energy Astra can never resist. She laughs when he humors her idea of skipping the club. "For now." she agrees, grinning. "Who knows? We might change our minds." her steps bounce lightly as she muses aloud, her voice lilting as she thinks. "Maybe that's why the in-between feels so great. You're not this or that. Maybe you're both at once?" she glances at Felix with wide eyes, playfulness curling her lips into a smirk. She lets him steer her when her wandering becomes aimless, laughing at how he gently guides her with his touch. They're not lost. They're exactly where they're meant to be as the city leads them to the bookstore.
When there, it feels like stepping into another world entirely. The air is heavy, the scent of paper left too long untouched. Shelves bow under the weight of books, scattered like they've been waiting for someone to dig through them. Astra takes it all in with wide eyes and a bright smile, her gaze landing on the grumpy man behind the counter. His glare bounces off her like light off glass and she still offers him a cheery, "Hi." before slipping further into the aisles.
She watches Felix carefully as he moves, something almost reverent about the way he scans the shelves. He looks completely out of place here. His sharp features, tattoos, and the quiet storm of his presence clashing with the soft chaos of dusty books and forgotten corners. But it suits him, too, in a way she can't explain. He looks like he belongs, and Astra finds herself unable to look away.
And then he finds the book and he reads to her. She feels her breath catch, not because of the words, though they're beautiful, but because of him. His tattooed fingers trace the lines on the page, his voice low and steady, each word deliberate. The richness of it all makes her laugh bubble up, touched and warm. "I love this!" Astra gasps, her voice full of wonder as she takes the book from him. "That is exactly what I feel. I always have." she's staring at the page, but it's clear she's not soaking in the words. Her smile lingers as her gaze flicks back to Felix, joy over her features.
Without a word, Astra slips away, the book still in hand as she moves to the end of the aisle. She lowers herself to the floor, opening the book again. "Felix, I..." her voice trails away as her head tilts slightly, fingertips tracing the edge of the book. She's not hesitant, just thoughtful. Her eyes glance over the page again before lifting to meet his. "I stopped going to school when I was ten." Astra utters, the confession easy to make here to him. "Some of this...it..." she pauses, her mouth closing as her head shakes her final answer. "I hear English better than I read it. Does that make sense?"
There's no shame, only honesty, her tone light as she glances to Felix with a sense of trust. "What is the other book you wanted?" Astra smiles now, looking to the shelves then to him, then to the book in her hands. "What else is in here that I might say? Felix-" the excitement is back, and she sits crossed legged, making room for him as she pats eagerly beside her. "Read to me!"
Felix always loved how Astra listened. Not just to him, but to everything, like she was in tune with a frequency no one else could hear. Or rather, no one else even bothered to. The way her gaze locked onto his when he spoke, so full of curiosity and care, made him feel…noticed. But it wasn't just the attention, it was how she listened. How she seemed to hold space for everything, even the things other people missed.
And then there was her face. Felix wasn't good at putting words to feelings, but Astra's beauty hit him like a gut punch every time. Her cheekbones caught the light just enough to make shadows dance across her skin, and her lips were full, soft, and expressive. They seemed to carry a secret smile even when she wasn't smiling at all. Her curls framed it all in their wild, unpredictable way, like she was part of the chaos but also the one holding it together. There was a timelessness to her, something he couldn't put his finger on but felt every time he looked at her too long.
When she fumbled through the word, her voice tripping over the syllables, Felix couldn't hold back the laugh that escaped him. It came from somewhere deep, shaking his chest. "You sound like you're casting some ancient curse." he teased, his grin crooked as he watched her. That lilt in her voice, the way it softened the edges of her words, always got to him. It made her sound like she belonged to another time, another world. An old Norse goddess who had somehow wandered to him. And, if he was honest, he worshiped her like one.
Her thoughts about feelings and impressions sparked something in him. He nodded, the smirk fading into something more thoughtful. "Yeah." Felix said, his tone softer, more deliberate. "It is sort of like that. In a way." he chuckled, picking his thoughts on the philosophy before his eyes narrowed slightly and his grin returned. "You're kind of an expert already." he watched Astra ponder over liminality, proud of himself for knowing something she'd latch onto. "I knew you'd like it." he said, his voice tinged with affection. Still, the thought of buying the books tugged at something in him, a hesitation. He didn't like the idea of blending his old life, his old self, with the circus. It didn't feel as if there was any space for it, and yet with Astra he didn't mind sharing it. "Maybe." he added, deflecting. "But it's a slippery slope. Books'll have us broke in no time."
And then she lit up about the bookstore and Felix couldn't control his own laughter. Her excitement was infectious, pulling him along before he could even think of saying no. "Instead of the club?" he asked, raising a brow. But her laughter was enough of an answer, her quick steps and bright energy leading them wherever they were heading. With Astra, Felix realized the in-between wasn't something to get through. She made it the best part.
It didn't take long to find the late night bookstore. Felix led her there, enjoying the way their movements synced without effort. Astra sometimes pulling ahead, then him steering them back on track. The place was exactly what he expected. Mismatched, cramped, every shelf packed with books in no real order. Dust hung in the air like it was part of the decor, and a grumpy man stood behind the counter, his glasses perched on the edge of his nose, his gray hair poking up in wild directions. Felix's excitement dimmed slightly, replaced by quiet intrigue, his hand resting lightly on the back of Astra's neck.
"Hey, uh…" he hesitated, scratching the back of his head with his free hand. "Might be a weird request, but do you have…The Prophet? Kahlil Gibran." the man grunted in response. It wasn't clear if it was a yes or no, just a very German sounding noise but, Felix continued. "And…The Trial, Franz Kafka." that got a raised eyebrow, just as Felix expected and a wry grin crept onto his lips. "In English?" he added. The man gestured vaguely toward a darker, cluttered corner of the shop, and Felix chuckled under his breath.
The shelves in that corner seemed to press closer together yet there was something that seemed to beckon him. It had been a long time since Felix stood among books like this, and the sensation was more akin to a sad nostalgia, one he couldn't place. He led Astra down the aisle, the air full of paper and time and his hand stayed on her neck, steadying her and, maybe, himself. He took his time to scan the shelves, first finding The Prophet.
"Here." Felix said, tugging the book free, having to ensure a million more didn't tumble after it. And suddenly, holding the weight of it in his palm almost gave him a sense of old and new at once. He knew exactly what page to turn to, more or less, flipping through the paper like the book was still his ongoing read of the month. Clearing his throat, he glanced to Astra and his grin softened. His free hand returned to her, drawing her closer.
"You may strive to seek new paths, but it is the stepping upon old stones that grounds you, reminds you of what was and what could be. And yet, the crossing itself carries its own meaning, for it is there that you are truly alive." his brow raised, eyes back on her from the page. "Sounds like someone we know, don't you think?" Felix muttered, passing the book over for her to read. "I think you'd make Gibran write you love letters if he knew you."

I don’t usually like to complain about shows on here because I prefer to focus on what I like about them, or if I REALLY dislike something I’ll just stop watching it and never mention it again, but... Astra Lost In Space was actually the most disappointing series I’ve seen in a long time.
#me talking about Astra Lost In Space#salt post#it had everything it needed to be a really awesome series#enjoyable characters; a fun space adventure; genuinely funny moments; an interesting mystery; good plot twists#and I really like it when a series can balance having darker and more serious moments with having more lighthearted funny moments#that's definitely one major thing it had for it is that balance#and I did enjoy the series when I was watching it#if I DIDN'T like it I would have just dropped it completely#but still... it could have been SO much more interesting if it was longer and took more time to develop things#(and especially if it wasn't so OBVIOUS who the traitor was)#I haven't read the manga so I'm just going to assume that the manga was much better#anyway... I've seen a lot of posts from people who LOVE the series but this is just my opinion

Well, it’s that time of year again. The time to reflect on everything and really stop and think. 2021 had a lot of highs and lows when it came to anime, but through it all, we all came away with something grand.
A song. A story. A memory. 2021 gave us so many amazing things. And now, as we begin to close out the year, I want to share with you all my personal faves that I watched through it all.
Keep in mind, not everything in my list of what I watched was from this year. Some of it was from last year. Others are far older. But every title I watched this year to completion was time well spent. And these are my opinions on what I watched. I’ll keep it all under the read more so that this doesn’t take up your entire dash.
Now with that, let’s get to the list!
HERE IS FANDOM’S PERSONAL ANIME AWARDS FOR SHOWS THEY WATCHED IN 2021!!!!
BEST SCI-FI goes to Planetes
This was a toss up between Planetes and Astra: Lost in Space, but I felt that Planetes just beat out Astra. A series about space garbage men that has truly stood the test of time that more people should check out. If you enjoy stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Wolf’s Rain or shows with similar tones, then you’ll like this show.
BEST FANTASY goes to To Your Eternity
Listen, I know there were tons of Fantasy shows out there this year. And I tried to keep up with them. But the one that I feel earns the title of Best Fantasy goes to this show. Fushi’s journey and the world he inhabits is incredible and you will not be disappointed.
BEST MYSTERY goes to ODDTAXI
What more do I need to say? There are few anime that I would say are 100% Perfect. This is one of them. No detail is overlooked. No amount of character interaction is filler. Everything has a point and purpose to the great end. If you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for?!
BEST SHORT SERIES goes to Pui Pui Molcar
It’s a stop motion show about sentient Guinea Pig cars. Need I say more?
BEST DRAMA goes to GANKUTSUOU: The Count of Monte Christo
It’s the Count of Monte Christo. In space. With aliens and funky artwork. And it somehow works. I don’t know how better to sell it.
BEST SLICE OF LIFE goes to Yuru Camp
Cute girls do camping things and it was honestly the show I needed when I finally hit the burnout of the last 2 years.
BEST OST goes to Vivy: Fluorite Eyes Song
This soundtrack was far too good and was worth the hype alone. But paired with the animation and it was absolutely elevated.
BEST SEQUEL goes to Uma Musume Season 2
I tried so, so hard. This year had so many good sequel seasons. But the one I felt was the strongest was this one. I still stop and think about it from time to time. And its a season that stands on its own. It’s simply fantastic.
BEST COMMUNITY goes to Shirobako
Bringing back this award, this is in regards to characters and setting and how they interact. And the community of the setting of Shirobako are simply amazing to watch and I wish these people were my fellow co-workers.
BEST ONGOING goes to Ranking of Kings
I HAD TO GET THIS SHOW ON HERE SOMEHOW AND IT WILL PROBABLY MAKE MY BEST OF 2022 IF THE SEASON STICKS THE LANDING.
Best Romance goes to Science Fell in Love, so I Decided to Prove It
Two nerds who are so into science that they need to use science to prove they are in love. Shenanigans ensue. It’s too cute.
BEST FRIENDSHIP goes to Astra: Lost in Space
There were a lot of great anime I watched this year that I felt deserve this award, but without spoiling anything, the friendship between the crew of the Astra is something that I felt deserved recognition the most.
BEST FIGHT goes to Kyojuro Rengoku VS Akaza from Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc
I STILL GET THE FEELS OVER THIS FIGHT OKAY?!?! I WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS!
BEST ISEKAI goes to Ascendance of a Bookworm
It was a close race between this and Realist Hero, but I felt that Bookworm had a more solid open ending that both allows for further story, as well as leaves a viewer satisfied in the case a new season cannot be produced. (Luckily, both are getting new seasons soon, but point still stands.)
BEST COMEDY goes to Zombieland Saga Seasons 1 and 2
Zombie. Idols. Need I say more?
BEST INSERT SONG goes to Dawn Breaks from Given
It was so, so hard to pick an insert song this year, but I felt this song had more of what I was looking for in terms of something both emotional and memorable. If you haven’t listened to it, please do.
BEST OP is a DRAW! This award goes to ODDTAXI and PRETTY BOY DETECTIVE CLUB!
Listen, these two have amazing animation and very fitting songs that perfectly encapsulate their respective shows and what to expect from them. Both are worthy of watching on their own.
BEST ED goes to BEASTARS Season 2.
The animation and the music are both just so soothing and are a welcome change of pace compared to the action and suspense of the main show and OP.
MOST UNDERRATED goes to Kemono Jihen
Horror. Mystery. Found Family. Criminally under watched. Please give it a watch.
MOST HEARTWARMING goes to The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent
This anime was just gentle. Soft. Warm. A nice romance and sweet fantasy isekai.
MOST DELICIOUS goes to Restaurant to Another World Season 2
It’s hard to watch this and not get hungry.
GUILTY PLEASURE goes to Fairy Ranmaru
I will not justify this one. It’s just pure, unapologetic, queer fun. It’s not good, but it’s not bad. It’s just fun.
MOST ADORABLE goes to My Senpai is Annoying
Look, I’m a sucker for the “Tiny-Grumpy-Human and Giant Goofy Teddy Bear” dynamic, okay? Sue me.
BEST REWATCH goes to Akudama Drive
I cannot describe how much better this show gets with every rewatch, okay? Just...give it a watch if you haven’t already.
MOST EMOTIONAL SCENE goes to Episode 1 of To Yuor Eternity
My feels...will never recover....
MOST FUN DUB goes to Sk8 The Infinity
HEY BITCHES AND BROS AND NONBINARY HOES!
This dub just gets me.
The DESERVED BETTER award goes to Way of the House Husband
If ANY anime adaptation should have gotten the One Punch Man treatment, it should have been this one. You’re better off ripping the audio from the show and placing it over manga edits. I’ve never seen an anime that made me think a premise wasn’t funny the way this one did.
MOST DISSAPOINTING is also a draw! This award goes to B: The Beginning- Succession and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou/Sotsu
With B: The Beginning, it was just disappointing. I hardly remember anything from the season. I keep waiting and waiting for a part 2, wondering if maybe there’s something I’m missing. The music was boring, the fighting wasn’t memorable. I wish they’d just either left it at one season or actually stopped to consider “is this any good?”
With Higurashi Gou/Sotsu, however, this is one that the more I think about it, the more I try to fit it into the overall narrative of Higurashi. The more I try to make sense of its themes and story, the more pissed off I get. This just feels like a giant spit in the face after being thrown into a pile of cow manure. Even if I were to take it as its own thing outside of canon, it just doesn’t make it any better. It’s not even worth it beyond the music.
And now, the ranking of:
THE TOP TEN ANIME I WATCHED IN 2021!
10) Pretty Boy Detective Club 9) Astra: Lost in Space 8) Gankutsuou - The Count of Monte Christo 7) Ascendance of a Bookworm 6) Planetes 5) Kemono Jihen 4) Uma Musume Season 2 3) Sk8 The Infinity 2) To Your Eternity 1) ODDTAXI
And there you have it! My rankings for anime I watched this past year! Were there some you think I missed? Are there any you think I should give a watch? Any your favorites? Let me know!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this post and I look forward to seeing you all in 2022!

Spoilers for Astra Lost in Space up through episode 7.
I was excited to watch this, but I was expecting more like a space survival mixed with school SoL friendship bonding vibes. I didn’t realize they were going to go so hard into the mystery aspect, but I’m really into it. Although, they’re spending a lot of time on this “who’s the traitor” thing, and I don’t think the broken communicator is enough evidence for that. Couldn’t it have been broken just before they got there? I mean whoever put the ship there probably did it. Anyway, there’s been a lot of red herrings and big reveals so far. I didn’t really expect any of the obvious ones like Ulgar or Yunhua, just suspecting someone for being a loner is quite a leap. They had me with Charce for a while, but I guess his story is plausible. It’s been foreshadowed pretty hard and obvious that they’re all clones of their “parents,” so I assume each one has a tragic backstory of being unloved.
Except for Aries, in her case, again, it’s been made extremely obvious that she’s related to or just is Seira. (Except that in the dub it sounds Seta, but anyway) Honestly, she’s currently my top suspect if there is a traitor. I think we’ve seen everyone go out of their way to save others or offer information when they didn’t need to. However, she could have had her memory altered or have a split personality or something from the accident if she is indeed Seira. They put too much emphasis on her slight eye color mismatch to not come back to it as well. Maybe one of her eyes is a camera, like she’s part cyborg and has to follow commands sometimes. But my actual top suspect is weird puppet thing. They just threw that in there without really addressing it. Like all of the characters are just like, yeah she carries around a mind reading puppet 24/7 that’s not weird. They did say that in episode 1, right? That it had some kind of neural connection? Plus, they had a whole bit where he says “aww yeah” when he’s “receiving commands.” Was that not weird to anyone else? Like I’m half expecting we’ll get a scene in the middle of the night where he quietly says aww yeah and then pulls out a knife to kill someone.
Biggest reveal might be that Luca is intersex. I haven’t seen that in, I think, any tv shows, western or anime. I thought they handled it pretty well too, he was just like yup I’m intersex but I use he/him and I’m pretty comfortable as boy. And they all were like cool we’re all still friends no need to be super weird about it or radically alter our behavior, still the same person we knew all along. I’m a little surprised honestly. I don’t know much about how gender is treated in Japan, but most anime come off as very strictly traditional gendered to me, except for like comedy characters, so it was nice to see. Selfishly, I was hoping to see some rep for more feminine males, but I’m not going to whine about it.
I have been a little frustrated with how dumb they act sometimes. I know they’re teens, but seriously aren’t they high school seniors? I’d expect a little more at that age. At least wear your space helmet for a few days on this completely unknown planet. Also, they take so long to arrive at, and make such a big deal out of, these very obvious conclusions. “Oh no how will I save Aries. Wow there’s a winch conveniently right at my feet. *dramatic gasp* I know what to do” Yes! Obviously! Every second you waste being stupid and dramatic she’s drifting further away!
Also, I want them to spend more time on, in my opinion, the real mystery of what the fuck is going on with these orbs, and conveniently placed spaceships, and genetic laws, and dead reporters, and memory transfer science, and why someone wants a bunch of teens dead. Seriously, establishing motive is a key part of detective work even if you’re only focused on finding the traitor. And there has been two overly convenient ships now. I don’t know what’s going on with the pod girl (I low-key thought it would be future Quitterie), but the fact that they happened upon an exact match for their ship to use as spare parts is suspicious. Also someone pointed out how weird it is that this model only has one pod. Apparently it was different in the manga or something, but for this version it’s strange. Although honestly I find hibernation pods to be an odd life boat in general. And I feel like this new girl is going to throw a wrench into things somehow. That’s always how it is with people that time travel or hibernate. It would be extremely jarring, I imagine, to lose twelve years in an instant (and then be woken up by stranded teenagers). So they’ll have to spend at least an episode on her, but maybe we’ll learn more about this world’s history and society. I’m a little unclear on how common space travel is. This is a school trip, so it would seem quite common, but they were all nervous and had never done it before. So, is this girl an explorer or like a tourist? This is a different timeline, definitely, they mentioned a world war in 1963, and I hope they address the differences in more detail.
Also what if that old woman at the airport planted something in Aries luggage when they bumped into each other? I almost forgot about her because I assumed she was just there for exposition.

Kris year in review (in which i talk about everything i remember that i watched and played and read) bc I like to talk about things . this is so incredibly long do not feel like you have to look at this okay guys. okay. I already wrote this up so im just gonna post it
Games I played:
AI: The Somnium Files - a fantastic game I highly recommend if you like weird characters and stories and are a fan of visual novels/adventure games <3 super fun
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - AMAZING cast of characters and fun gameplay I didn’t want to stop playing, great plot I will be thinking about forever…
Bugsnax - very funny and cute and I loved catching every bugsnax and the fun characters I want to play the 2nd one when it comes out
Psyconauts - a cult classic for a reason. Loved it’s style but the final level is so bad I would not wish it upon my worst enemy. Looking forward to finishing 2 one day
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - I haven’t gotten to finish this one yet (I got 80 hours in okay??) but I’m incredibly excited to get back to it. GOTY BABY!!! GAME OF ALL TIME!!
Nier Automata - ALSO THE GAME OF ALL TIME this is a must play it broke me it healed me it made me see the beauty of art and story telling that games are capable of it’s really just fantastic. for the love of god do not stop after ending A. Love this game so much.
Ongoing Manga I am currently reading
Chainsaw Man - starting off with the best one. CSM is so incredibly important to me and one of the best stories I have ever read. if you have talked to me at ALL you know how I cannot shut up about Denji and i AM NOT SORRY!!!
I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die - fantastic supernatural/horror themed romance and one of my favorite romances I read this year
Black Clover - made me realize how truly trash bnha is at writing women lmao. Good battle shonen but nothing overwhelming special about it. It understands the basics and does them all well
D Gray Man - didn’t catch up on this one yet but it’s got great characters and some of the worst action paneling I’ve ever seen.
Dungeon Meshi - y’all were right it’s funny and can be very touching at time
A Condition Called Love - I can fix him romance but make it not feel toxic the manga. Super cute I love them.
Toilet Bound Hanako-kun - I feel like I started this last year but I know that can’t be true… supernatural + romance + cute art. It’s made me cry.
Jujutsu Kaisen - loved this baby and then I caught up to the current arc and it was the worst shit of all time. Megumi my depressed king.
Frieren Beyond Journeys End - fantastic please read it I love these bitches so much
Spy x Family - it’s SxF it’s good we all know this
Manga I finished reading
Cardcaptor Sakura - I think this is my first CLAMP manga I finished. LOVED sakura and shaoran they are so small. so many good aspects to this series and then all of the age gap bullshit is there so IDK hard to recommend but I enjoyed reading all of the parts that weren't about horrible relationships
Horimiya - CUTE I love romance where you get to follow them as a couple <3 there were a few bad spots in it (miyamura's piercings being compared to self harm in that one chapter.......???????) but over all a good read
Astra: Lost in Space - fun scifi adventure with good characters. pretty short and easy read. its fun
You Got Me, Senpai - SO CUTE one of the best relationships I've read in a manga. adorable.
Drowning Love - verrry good and complex, a mature story with darker elements (check out trigger warnings for it) and a very engaging coming of age story about two kinda horrible kids with too much attention pointed their way living in a small town. anime adaptation WHEN
Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty - super cute romance, supernatural elements. loved it
Orange - think this would be a perfect read if the time travel element wasn't explained like That and also Suwa >>> Kakeru and what they did to his character in that bonus story was just mean
Goodbye, Eri - everyone should read this. beautiful, stays with you. fantastic exploration on what arts purpose is
A Kiss, For Real - it was cute. the summary makes it sound more romance focused than it actually is, there is a lot of focus on the MCs journey of growth and what she wants to do with her life. Romance was cute but not exceptionally so
Takopi's Original Sin - overhyped as hell. depressing outlook on life. thought some of it was fine but it is overall too cruel to say i enjoyed it, especially with a cast this young
The Girl From The Other Side - I actually 100% cannot remember if I read this last year or not. anyways. BEAUTIFUL art, great characters, compelling mysteries
Junji Ito's Dissolving Classroom - not his best work by far, but it is one of his earliest so I don't care too much.
Spotless Love: This Love Cannot Be Any More Beautiful. - I haven't been adding the ones that aren't popular unless I really enjoyed them, but idk this one is just so wild I felt the need to throw it on here. girl who loves to clean x child assassin is certainly a relationship dynamic. they're funny
Anime I watched <3 THIS SECTION WILL BE LONG SORRY
Akiba Maid War - this is not very good but it is entertaining so...
Ano Hana - rewatched this one finally! still one of the best dramas of all time. did you know childe and jintan have the same english VA bc I know. I know this now.
BNA - the plot point about how the furries were victims in the literal real world holocaust made me kind of hate this I won't lie. also the best friend fox girl Nazuna is one of the most unbearable characters ever. when you lead a cult pretending to be an important religious figure to a culture you are not part of because you like attention i guess?? it is not a good look in a show that already deals so heavily in antisemetic themes & imagery for it's villains.... sorry to whoever recommended this to me :( great animation
Dance Dance Danseur - did not like the MC but I did like the FMC and Rival character, good animation. I read the authors shoujo title Drowning Love this year and it should've gotten the adaptation TBH but this was fine, last few episodes carried
Death Parade - rewatched this one this year and it is still amazing. OP is still one of the best out there.
Do It Yourself!! - not incredibly remarkable yuri bait with a fantastic art style. its fine if you like cute girls doing cute things while being gay genre
Erased - for a mystery story the culprit is laughably obvious. the rest of it is pretty good though. oh lol other than the weird jokes about the protags taste in girls but it never followed through on anything so compared to other series im too tired to care
Keep Your Hand's Off Eizouken - starts off strong but I couldn't keep caring by the end tbh. it does not help I started it and then stopped for like 7 months and then finally finished the show so that's probably rly affecting my feelings
Today's Menu for the Emiya Family - certified apron boy moment
Fire Force - do NOT fucking watch this show is is so actually bad. However. Arthur is so funny I have to finish the series
Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works - rin best girl. maybe fate isn't so bad after all.
Fruits Basket (2019) all seasons - LOVE ME SOME SHOUJO!!!! it slays everyone needs to watch this NOW
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - fantastic movie i need to watch it again
Kaguya-sama Love is War - only watched the first season but it's fun, not the best without breaks. the people saying this is the best animanga romance need to read more shoujo though
Mob Psycho 100 s3 - I cried. It's beautiful. I don't need to say anything else
NGE - this was a rewatch a long time coming. Truly didn't understand shit watching this as a teenager lol. it's better than I could've imagined and a lot of the criticisms i used to have were actually stupid and a byproduct of not understanding what it was doing
Sarazanmai - 10/10 gay kappa connections cycles trauma love mafia boxes cops otters I WANT TO CONNECT, but.........
spy x family s1 - its good its sxf
Zombieland Saga + Revenge - first idol anime I watched. the main girl was way too relatable for comfort. good time.
Movies I watched (I am bad at talking about movies sorry)
Turning Red - super good loved the everything I can’t believe it came out this year. I’ve watched it 3 times.
Scream (the entire movie series) - it’s scream baby idk what else to say. First one is fantastic the rest are okay I guess but man… that first one is just sooo good it’s hard to live up to it
The Sea Beast - fun movie! Almost forgot I watched it
Monster High: The Movie - perfection 10/10 high art it should’ve been called Monster High: The Film
Skinamarink - loooove me a horror movie that says fuck doing what other movies do I am doing my own thing. Did not actually love the thing it did but it’s definitely not a bad movie
Wendell & Wild - STOP MOTION SWEEP !!!! Great movie I will return to on future Halloweens. Think the plot got a bit too big for the movies runtime or whatever but I really don’t care bc it was good so whatever
Disney’s ZOMBIES trilogy - bad.
Disney’s Descendants trilogy - bisexual. Less bad than zombies
The VelociPastor - a masterpiece baby!!
Glass Onion - absolutely fantastic, words can’t describe how fun this movie is
Pinocchio - stunning stop motion and a beautiful story that brought me to tears. icon.
