#spn #vid #mind the warnings on this one for real #woe! fruit of my rewatch be upon ye.#pallas calls this my 'deangirl coming out vid' which honestly. true. but those who paid attention know i've always been a deangirl.#also. after this no more deanwinchester rilo kiley amvs I Pwomise #anyway. i'm not gonna give a full commentary here but a big reason why i chose this song is that the narrator #is essentially dismissing her own problems and instead watching the problems of someone else #and i kind of wanted to play with that theme. this is the parallels show so let's do some parallels. lots of things happen to characters #that are Like Dean somehow. either in personality or circumstance. that we know or can infer happen to him. but we don't see it bc it's #not sayable. not speakable. so like for an easy one. we see meg being tortured in caged heat. she also talks about apprenticing under #alastair just like dean. so i show her being tortured [in a way that is sexualized and demon-specific] and reacting how she does #because i invite the audience to imagine or interpret that this has also happened to dean at some point. we just don't see it #so there are many dean parallels in this video. some obvious. some subtle but textual. some products of my twisted mind. but that's the way #i am using them to make my argument.#oh also: dean voice sam's eyes going black is JUST like when he used to fight with dad and wouldn't listen to me when i told him not to.#i guess also the point is that because it's unsayable. dean can't say it. dean can't even acknowledge it. and so it bleeds through #into everything in his life #that's why it's important that the song narrator doesn't take her own problems seriously. dean doesn't either.

the evolution of the operator symbol over the course of the series is so endlessly fascinating to me, because like. Alex came up with the symbol and only ever really used it on his hypergraphia papers, which we don't really see him do much (if at all) after season one

but Brian,, Brian uses that symbol constantly. It's basically a signature by the end of the series - he leaves it on Tim's medical records, and on the back of Alex's photo of Amy, and on the note he left for Jay about Benedict Hall - he even uses it in his final video to unveil his name - it's self-referential, but he doesn't ever really seem to use it to denote The Operator the way Alex did?

Like, to me it really does seem like he basically appropriated it. "This is the symbol you created for the thing that was hunting you, but now I'm the thing that's hunting you" - like, hh fuck dude, Looking At You

"We don't find out ANYTHING about these characters from the OP" because it's a big theme of Durarara that. People you cross the street. Are not always what they first seem like. That people like Seiji who seems normal, is anything but. People like Shizuo, who seems terrifying and dangerous and angry all the time, there are more to him than that.

"main characters" about the Raira Trio are you HIGH. Did you miss the POINT. Mikado is nOT the main character. It's an understandable mistake to make, as he is our initial POV character whose eyes we study Ikebukuro through for the initial leg of the story but jesus christ the entire point of Mikado is that he Wants to be the main character, but Isn't. Celty is the driving point of the show. You could even make the argument that Ikebukuro itself is, although Narita considers Celty to be the main character

And his bitching that Anri cuts the scene for "no reason" just because Chané cut it in Baccano... have you even WATCHED Durarara, Geoff. Because I don't think you did. Anri has a really fucking OBVIOUS reason for cutting the scene and guess fucking what it's fucking FORESHADOWING OH MY GOD you complain so much about the Durarara OP not doing enough foreshadowing for you but you dismiss the most blatant one

AND YOU WERE EVEN WEIRD ABOUT BACCANO like literally where the fuck did you get the idea that the Martillos are connected to the Gandors via money. Literally where. rewatching dil gets spooky and it’s sooo comforting and nostalgic ugh I’ve been rewatching all the spooky gaming and baking videos but just old sims party hosting is so fun

#at #fionna and cake #simon petrikov #original #Gunter was his baby and I'm willing to bet Simon hasn't spoken to him in 12 years #Gunter loved him so much he used the crown to become another version of him #I think it could be a really beautiful way to explore the moments of love that existed in his life as Ice King #just some thoughts I'm having while rewatching a bunch of episodes from the original series.#Gunter is in most of ice king's scenes being his weird son #neptr also calls him papi #the man's mothering instinct stayed with him even in his insanity and he managed to find insane children to claim as his own #I just rewatched the Adventure Time holiday special with all the video tapes and I think those same tapes are going to come up #and Simon will notice that Gunter is with him in basically every one of them and realize #despite his soul crushing loneliness as Ice King he was never quite alone and maybe friends like Gunter still care about him #i don't think he should go back to being ice king i think he needs ways to make peace with every part of himself and his life #and also i really like Gunter i think he's a delight
