Friday Kiss tag!

Idk about the rest of you, but it's Friday for me :)) So thanks to @tragedycoded and @the-golden-comet for tagging me last week so I can finally make you all see more of the Cultist WIP (which still hasn't found a name for itself)!

Athena grabbed his wrists, her claws digging into the open wounds. “Brett,” she cooed, swaying with delight. “You came looking for me.” The maggots churned and coursed, making her facade of a woman ripple. He nodded unsteadily. “'Thena, I know this isn't you, alright? Snap out of it,” he said, not a trace of fear in his voice. “We're here for you, me and Doc and Mrin. I'm here for you. We believe in you.” For a moment, she froze. I thought- I hoped, against all hope, that it had worked, that the power of love would triumph. Then that horrible mass of writhing rot grinned. “How cute. How darling. Why, I could just eat you up, dearie,” she exclaimed.  And she did, her swarm bending down towards his face. Brett's scream was cut off abruptly as she pressed her lips to his, kissing him deeper than she ever had as his lover. He squirmed in her grip as wave after wave of larvae poured down his throat, gnawing and gulping down his innards. I caught flashes of red as he was engulfed, each quickly overwhelmed by the swarm. It was too much, just too much, and I bent over, heaving my guts onto the floor. It tasted like Brett's screams, wet and sour and horrified.

Sometimes I think that I would have a better mental health if I didn't discovered Epic at the start of one of my most important years of school. Like, the songs are too good to stop listening to them even though I'm crying because the lyrics of the songs are killing me on the inside.

Really, Jorge has to stop making these bangers of songs lie please don't stop because is feeding my seassonal depresion.

Also, I can't wait for the Vengance Saga. I just know I'm going to play it on repeat as the whole Epic album all Halloween.

Notes: This fic is just catering to me personally. I needed to use Javert walking into the river from Les Misérables 2000 as my starting point because it opens different opportunities, at least for the beginning. I'd be really happy if you give it a try. You don't need to know the adaptation; I'd follow the same trajectory if I were to write a book 'verse fic as well, and I'm tweaking the characterization anyway. I just had these scenes in mind and needed to get them out 🙃

First things first. Spoiler Alert for Dragon Quest XI. I just finished this game (though I know I’ve got a ton of post game stuff or so it seems) so the brain rot is real right now.

I need to talk about the penultimate fight against Jasper Unbound. Specifically the fact that I had Hendrik on my team for the entire fight and I don’t think ANY other team member was targeted as much as Hendrik was in that fight and I LOVED IT. Jasper’s resentment and HATRED towards Hendrik was actually a factor in the gameplay and I think that’s such a brilliant detail. I’m sure other games have done this but as far as I remember I don’t think I’ve ever noticed anything like that. I know it’s such a small detail but I really enjoyed it.

It also helped that Hendrik was the one to land the final blow that defeated Jasper and it just so dramatic and really brought me into the moment. I’m sure Hendrik getting the final blow was pure coincidence but I’ve been really wondering whether Jasper targeting Hendrik if you have him in your party was purposely programmed in. I feel like it has to be but I’m honestly scared to Google it cos if it’s deconfirmed I’d be real sad cos the drama and angst that brought to the fight was just fantastic.

Anyway Dragon Quest XI real good. Real good game. I’m completely in love with the characters in this game, they’re all so good. Also sorry if I’ve explained this poorly, I’m not very good at properly explaining and analysing things but I just really appreciated that detail, Intentional or not.
