thinking about waking up to Daryl making breakfast in the kitchen of your shared home:

you wake up to an empty bed, but that was normal. he had been out with Aaron for days on end, you were so used to waking up alone since he took the position. but when you wake up to an empty bed and the smell of maple syrup and warmth wafting through the cracked open bedroom door...

he would be barefoot, his usual boots abandoned for once. what if he was wearing his boxers instead of his usual jeans, finally having somewhere to be himself and loose in your home together :')

his hair is still a little messy from sleep, sticking up in places he didn't bother to smooth down before starting on his breakfast mission

he's so good with his weapons, his tools, so its cute watching him fumble around trying to make a perfect breakfast for you.

his brow is furrowed, tongue sticking out as he focuses on flipping the pancake in the pan to perfection.

when he notices you walking in, only in his large t shirt, his cheeks pink and he's all shy as he admits he wanted to surprise you today. He says it all as your arms wrap around his mid drift from behind, pushing your face into his back and inhaling his scent.

This was your happy place. This is all you wanted, for forever.

The food might not look perfect, but you notice he tried to make it nice—he even wiped the edge of the plate with a rag, something you’d never expect from him.

There’s a rare softness in his eyes as he watches you take your first bite, clearly waiting to see if you like it. You catch the tiniest twitch of his lips when you tell him it’s good, a quiet kind of pride he’d never outright express.

When you tease him about burning the toast, he gives a gruff, half-hearted defense, “Ain’t burnt—just got a little extra crunch, s’all.”

When you offer to clean up after the sweet breakfast he made, Daryl shakes his head with a quiet grin and tells you he has other plans for the morning. He drags you back to bed, kissing and licking the last traces of syrup from your fingers before taking his time worshipping every inch of you, making sure the day starts in his favorite way—with you.

The morning is gentle and slow with sweet nothings whispered to each other, the longing in his eyes when he tells you how much he misses you when he’s away, the feel of his big, broad hands on you and ya know what I’m gonna stop there before I lose my mind.

The idea of bucky genuinely having no recollection of his actions haunts me. He lost 90 years of his life and can't recall nearly any of it.

Granted, in the comics, there was a period in which he was "conscious," but he still had no memories of HIS life. Not only that, but the moment they knew there were chips in their programming, he immediately was but in cryostasis.

In the movies, this applies even more so. The clip in civil war where (when talking to Steve) he says "What did I do?" "Enough." "I knew it. Everything Hydra put inside me is still there...". He's aware of the fact that he was made into a killing machine. Simply a weapon and nothing else. To Hydra, he had no life. Only a mission that needed to be completed.

Why can't Marvel just let him be happy :((

Just learned today that there are people who hate Martin Blackwood.

Martin “I will repeatedly and without hesitation throw myself before eldritch horrors so the people I love can be free from tyranny” Blackwood.

Ok, sure, yeah. Clearly he pretends to be mild mannered as a defense mechanism. If given the chance he would go scorched earth on every avatar and is angry when Jon doesn’t listen to him. And? Is he not allowed to be angry at a lack of justice? It’s not exactly a dilemma with a perfect solution.

Idk there’s something about characters so dedicated to the well being of the people around them that they repeatedly fall on swords for them. Sure, it’s a coping mechanism to need everyone in your life to be happy. That makes him feel safe.

And??? Jon’s cope is the need to understand. That doesn’t do much for anyone except repeatedly put people in harm’s way. He tells himself he’ll destroy the fears once he kills Jonah, but he was clearly deluding himself. He wanted the knowledge all to himself and Martin called him on his bullshit.

That’s not to say he deserves hate either. Obviously he’s a victim of the Ceaseless Watcher and had his fear warped into something monstrous. But Martin’s fears drove him to extremes in order to protect the people around him.

He’s a terrified, bumbling hero and the most nuanced character of the Magnus Archives.

I like the thought that Celebrimbor puts a Fëanorian star on the Doors of Durin because it means he's made peace with his past; it's a sign he's let go of any bitterness and resentment he might - however justifiably! - hold towards his father and the rest of his family, and he's moving on.

But at the same time, I really like the idea that it's also a statement. That star is the device of the House of Fëanor, and he is the last member of that house still living in Middle-earth. And by putting the star on the West-gate, what he's saying, effectively, is: "I am the House of Fëanor now, I decide what our legacy in Middle-earth is to be, and I say this is what that house now stands for: friendship, inclusivity, co-operation, trust, peace."

And I don't think those two ideas are mutually exclusive. Often laying old ghosts is the necessary prelude to making that kind of positive change. And I do love the idea of Celebrimbor as someone who is constantly, consciously trying to do better.

I saw some light discourse going around hsrtwt about Ratio being bad/good/morally ambiguous

I'm not gonna comment on that too much cause I wanna talk about smth else but clearly he's a good person, probably one of the nicest people we meet compared to the war criminals and murderers. his major crime is that he's blunt, mean and makes his students cry (which is something about him I don't particularly enjoy for personal reasons, but still)

what I like, something that i feel like people tend to forget, is that he's very openly kind and caring

of course there's the basic stuff, like the fact that he pours his whole heart into making the universe a better place, has eradicated a whole illness called 'the king of illnesses' (so, supposedly, very deadly) and the entire not getting into the genius society because he cares about humanity too much. but also, you know

first of all, he has canonically made various statues depicting himself making a heart with his hands while smiling warmly. I've always found it endearing how he mildly prides himself on 'keeping the world at bay' and just being generally mean while also doing this so casually. I mean, it's a clear message: 'I love you' that's what he's saying, and he's saying it in a silly way

something a bit more hidden is these quotes from hoyolab's post. we all know the 'ignorance is an ailment' quote is directly taken from his character stories, making it canon. that subsequently makes the other two just as canon. obviously it's an official post, but I sometimes see people doubting the validity of these silly little snippets into the hsr universe

I don't particularly know if he is saying those last two quotes in general or to someone/a group of people in particular, but it's like... one of the sweetest (and corniest) things ever, and it makes me giggle a little bit. it almost felt out of character to me the first time I've seen these, but if you think about it, it's always been there

this one is from the valentines day ""event"" on twitter from earlier this year. I like his reaction to the gift for he still has some of his usual, you know, 'I cannot bear to hear such foolish questions'. he's being nice in his own way here, his demeanor is just barely reserved but the sentiment behind his words remains a positive one

another quick thing, though I don't have more examples for this one. he's always going on about how you should always consider whether the question you're about to ask already has an answer (so encouraging you to think for yourself) but he's still Always offering to help. in this and, if I remember correctly, in the mail description you get when you used to receive him for free he's making it clear that he's willing to help you discuss things for you to understand them better and will answer any question as long as it's not a 'stupid' one. he is a teacher, after all. the biggest thing about him is that he wants people to do better. other than this, despite his slight reluctance to help others himself, he does say in his character trailer that sometimes a little encouragement is required

and he does encourage people openly when they do good! no 'I suppose this is acceptable' nor 'I guess you did good'. when someone or something impresses him, he genuinely expresses it. I like to point this out because I see so many people say he's self absorbed or puts himself above others, when that is simply not true. which, I mean, can also be seen in his small little interactions with Herta, Ruan Mei and Screwllum (he literally praises them)

then he also says this a couple times. I don't exactly know what he considers courtesy or discourtesy, but it's clear that at least not all his blunt or mean words are meant to offend. this is something I'd love to look further into, but for now simply want to put here with the rest cause it's an interesting thing about him. he is already described as elegant, which implies a certain level of basic courtesy and politeness when interacting with others, though this just slightly crashes with his 'rude' demeanor

supposedly, you could make the argument that while he canonically realizes how non-endearing he can be (knows his own shortcomings, one of the exact traits he praises) perhaps he actively struggles with coming off as nice. and seeing all I've pointed out so far, maybe all those instances of him being nice are how he'd prefer to come off as (some times). that is unless I missed some bits of canon dialogue where it's implied otherwise

this isn't that detailed or well made of a post, nor the first time someone has pointed out this stuff. in fact I reblogged an incredibly good, lengthy post some time ago that talks more in depth about how nice/kind of a person Veritas Ratio really is

I simply cannot stand when he is described as cold, uncaring, selfish, self-centered or someone incapable of being gentle and loving. and it's not nearly as subtle as people seem to think it is

Thinking about how Hotch almost certainly has The best monologues in the entire show. From “my team? Let me tell you about my team.” To “When im home, it’s like im in this silent panic” to “at your core, you’re a coward” to “sometimes the day just… ends” Hotch has some of the most moving monologues in the entire series and i think its so interesting when you think about how quiet he is normally, he’s so reserved and usually his sentences are clipped and direct, more like orders than monologues, and yet on the other side he has an almost theatric delivery to his monologues that makes it so captivating to listen to, makes you hang on every word. He’s so eloquent and concise, every word he says is so intentionally chosen, and it really lands when you’re watching the show. His monologues will always be the ones that stick out to me the most as some of the best line deliveries in the entire series
