Yeah haha I had a lot of fun with this one! It's based off the document @hellenite put out with their ideas for the Fading Lights continuation that will never happen.

Spoilers for that below the cut.

This is based off the would-be scene in the continuation where the new version of Ranboo, the reset one, comes back and successfully locates Tubbo. Tubbo at first thinks he's the "real" one, until he flips over Ranboo's wrist and sees that the tattoo is missing.

Happiest Day of Their Lives || Maddie and Amy's Wedding -- FINALLY!!!!!

Maddie stood, Drea at her feet as her hairdresser finished the intricate design that Maddie had dreamed of for her wedding day. She bit her lip and had to stop herself, reminding herself that she would see her wife soon. So they hadn't seen each other in 24 hours? All the best weddings happened after the night spent apart. Her wife...that thought would never get old. After today, the day they'd waited so long for, they would officially be each other's wives.

She found herself humming quietly to keep the anxiety away as her stepmother, Sophia, held Lottie, cooing to her softly. Her stylist walked into the room with a garment bag and Maddie's signature smile lit up her face. "This is the dress?" She asked, her eyes sparkling. Having new found fame had it's advantages. She'd been able to design the wedding dress of her dreams. It would take place on the beach of Elyisum where Amy and Maddie first met, all those years ago. She had wanted something unique, floral, something that would be easy to walk in on the beach and easy to dance in after.

Patting her sister's head, she walked and let the robe drop to the floor. "I have literally been waiting for this day my whole life," she quipped. She heard her father's voice outside, no doubt making friends with whoever walked by. He would be there to walk her down the aisle.

As soon as the dress was on, she turned slowly to look in the mirror. Her stepmother and sister had tears in their eyes, knowing Maddie's struggles over the years. "You deserve this, Mads," Sophia said. "You deserve to be happy. To be with Amy. For the three of you," she said, holding up Lottie's hand, "to be a family." Maddie blinked rapidly, hoping her tears didn't fall, at least, not yet. With her wings behind, she'd never looked more like an angel than she did right now."Thank you," she managed. "Let's get this show on the road. I want to see my girl." As she opened the door, her dad stood there, tears in his eyes. "I was afraid I had ruined this moment for us. The way I treated you. Thank you. For forgiving me." Without speaking, she simply leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek, no words necessary.

Oh- oh no. He must have hit his head worse than he thought. He thought he was past this…

Nonono dont worry I'm delusional and can make up a reason for a happy ending.

(up ahead is my personal headcanon for the ending, since it's an open ending and we don't know if raggedy ann lives or not)

So basically, before marcella, Raggedy Ann and the gang were not dead, not living, but just dolls that came awake at night (their nonliving state is a reason for why they don't age, can cut and sew off limbs, etc etc.). We know the gang was still up and moving before the events thanks to the father who said she had all sort of adventures, and Ann herself who talked about the time her most recent adventure made her have to cut off Andy's leg and sew it back on.

This all changes when Raggedy Ann is given the candy heart. Now she's alive, but it really doesn't change much, just that she can die. More than ever, the Candy Heart is a metaphor, and less of a literal thing. There are notes of some people dying of a broken heart (there's a scientific reason for this but I'm not a doctor or nurse so like why should I search it up). Basically, people feel so sad or depressed or feel like they have so little reason to live that they just die. This could be what's happening to Marcella. She might have found a way, with all her trauma, to convince her body that life isn't worth living (making her body start to shut down).

That's what the candy heart is for. When Raggedy Ann gives the heart, we're learning is that "sometimes all you can do is rely on someone else's love until you can stand up with your own/it becomes your own as well".

How does this tie into Raggedy Ann being alive? Well, with the candy heart not being a literal "thing" but a metaphor for love and a reason for living (LOVE IS THE REASON), then Raggedy Ann, being a supernatural being, can get a new Candy Heart if it's sewed back on. Basically she can cheat death (this ties into the song where Bat Lady says that nobody's ever escaped death before. It can prove her wrong and therefore fulfill her rose as villain)).

And the father DOES sew back on

But now Raggedy Ann is reliant on this heart like we are to ours, like we are to love. When she was first given the heart, given love, she became alive and was now able to die. She will always die when she loses her heart, loses love. But love alwaus returns, and, like love, Raggedy Ann does also.

It was never said on stage that all the dolls were "alive", as they werent given a heart. The only thing we get is Andy saying "What's that I hear? The beat of a heart?" in the Light. But candy hearts aren't beating. That'd be weird on stage. It could just be that the kind of heart that the dolls have are an immigration one that let's them move around at night.

I also want to add that I like to think at times that it's the Candy Heart that let Raggedy Ann be alive, and therefore have contact with the human world. And it's her supernatural nature that allows her to see General D and the others. She's sort of like a bridge to the Human and Supernatural world. Without the candy heart, she wouldn't be able to interact with humans, but with it she can, which is why the father first said Ann wouldn't move if Marcella was awake, when she did move. She had the heart, so it allowed her to move, and her heart (LOVE) was big enough to effect the dolls around her (only enough to get them moving around Marcella, NOT ENOUGH to make them alive like her and Ann) and, ultimately, it was big enough to have an effect on Marcella.

Marcella eats the candy heart, aka she receives pure/true love for the first time in a while, and she has a reason to live again.

Anm, however, does not.

As stated before, she now can live and die, and not be in the "limbo" state of her brother and friends.

But, she can get one again by just sewing on a new Candy Heart, if with the right intentions. And the intentions were right. The father first gave the Candy heart to cheer up his daughter. In other words, out of love for his daughter. This love went into the Candy heart and was sufficient for Ann and ultimately Marcella. When the father gives raggedy ann a new heart, it's done with very much the same intent. Because love always returns

So basically Raggedy Ann will live again because I'm delusional and good at filling in holes.

ok so the raggedy ann and andy broadway musical fucks me up because technically at the end raggedy dies bc she sacrifices her heart to save the kid and at first i assumed that andy would die too since them being apart equals death but i realized raggedy is still physically around

so andy is p much destined to hang around the shell of what used to be his sister and im  not crying yOURE CRYING
