Yeah haha I had a lot of fun with this one! It's based off the document @hellenite put out with their ideas for the Fading Lights continuation that will never happen.

Spoilers for that below the cut.

This is based off the would-be scene in the continuation where the new version of Ranboo, the reset one, comes back and successfully locates Tubbo. Tubbo at first thinks he's the "real" one, until he flips over Ranboo's wrist and sees that the tattoo is missing.

Inktober day 10: Nomadic

AD ASTRA PER ASPERA GUYS

It took but a moment after hearing the prompt for my brain to go "I want to stay, he wants to go".

Ohhhhhh..

I'm sad I didn't write that down in quotation marks on the drawing, but if you look closely at the bottom right, you can see that I was going to. Unfortunately, the ink had to be put away. ink is fun. this was very fun to make. sad.

Anyway, so I know that the symbol of the syndicate is not a L'Manburg flag, but I just put those things wherever I can, man.

Was this the result of the "I do not draw Tubbo's eyes ever" philosophy? Not necessarily. While I have to admit that I think that is pretty cool, I don't do that myself normally, which sort of makes this drawing interesting. Like, why don't we see his eyes then? Is it because of the distance and sad from after that whole sort of maybe half-of-a divorce thing? I certainly didn't give this man a braid here (cries.) and look at how distant that expression is. It totally could be along those lines assuming this is Ranboo's POV.

That border of plain paper around Tubbo makes him look a bit divine in a way. It's separating them again I think, reminiscent of the way Ranboo paints Tubbo in such a higher light than himself in his head. And then it kind of looks like light, like, oh idk Heulwen or something.

The Event Horizon series/universe was created by @hellenite, and it is so very fire and I like it very much, and it also very very much inspired this drawing. Due to this series existing, I now am subject to giggling seemingly out of nowhere even more than previously thought.

Tubbo sets his chest down, “Yeah,” takes in the curved staircase, chandelier, the high ceilings, and nods, “It was.”

It’s a joke at first-- a cute little mob that had gotten attached to Ranboo, who had toddled on baby legs, following them to the portal and clutching to a chicken’s feathery down the whole way. They’d lured him gently, promises of gold and meat, and he’d followed right into the overworld and through the snow and chill to Snowchester. By then, they’d gained his trust enough for the kid to let them pick him up, a tiny little thing that was mostly bone and leathery, half-zombified skin.

Or: Tubbo and Ranboo adopt a kid, get married, get divorced, and have a time of it. Not necessarily in that order.

My A03 Wrapped of 2022 👀

This is not an official one done by AO3, but 2022 is the year I got into reading fanfic again so I am going to write my own top 10 of favourites I read this year! I'll link the original fic in the rankings as well if you are curious;

01) bones in the ocean by @bunfloras

This was the first piece I read when I got into the fandom and oh my goodness. It blew me away. I laughed, I cried, I loved the world and this story brings me so much comfort. It helped me meet close friends and new people to follow plus made Emerald Duo my top pairing forever. It was a catalyst to finding the kindness of the SBI Inc community. Thank you for such a lovely story 💕

2) Change fate by being aggressively kind by @sircantus

I found Markus through Bun and instantly fell in love with his writing, I read this through in like 3 days flat and its so cozy. It's such a lovely and very interesting concept, I hold it near and dear to my heart. If you want a story about misfits finding a home, kind father Philza and a bunch of ragtag children he adopts to protect, this is your tale to read!

03) tommyinnit's clinic for supervillains by @bonesandthebees

So fun fact about this one, I found it maybe a month before it blew up and I remember searching the hashtag to find one post. Then a few weeks later Siren was everywhere, for a deserved reason. Well written, funny and a world to get lost in, you won't be disappointed reading this one.

This one. This story singlehandedly inspired my love of writing again. You are transported to a far away galaxy with these two vastly different beings learning how to interact and it is just so good. I could probably go on for hours so if you haven't read it, please do.

05) Fields of Asphodel and Cornflowers by @saturn-bug

Not many know of his writing but oh my god people need too. They are genuinely so kind, one of my first people I interacted with on this side of the community, and this piece is amazing. It's soft, well described, and Saturn is an expert on Ghostbur and consistently does amazing writing.

06) Absent but not Erased by @b0n3d4d1

Peer Pressure Duo my beloved, this fic has so much of my mind still thinking about it. I'm a softie for anything with protective Technoblade and this story does it in an incredible way. I forever hold this one very close to my heart.

07) i’ll make a cup of coffee (with the right amount of sugar) by @kaydrabbles

Kay, you delight, literally an incredible and kind personality who wrote this awesome piece that inspired my cafe AU (You Make Sure I Always See the Daylight), literally give most of the credit to her. This piece is well done, soft and the concept is so lovely. It's a very at home and cozy piece to read with a warm drink, blanket and perhaps a pet.

08) Of the Healing Kind by @archfeykoi

Koi is so sweet and lovely, I very much need to read their other things but this one is just the perfect mix for me. Boreal Trio and protective Emeralduo, this fic needs so much more love. Koi has such a skill with putting so much dedication into their work and you can tell the hours that go in!

09) Don’t look back in anger by @grassytastic

I have a thing for protective Technoblade I've noticed doing this list; yet again another fantastic piglin man I adore being protective over a kid. Just so incredibly well written, I need to read more of their fics.

10) fate was placed in your brothers hands (and he failed you) by @jaspasaur

Bastian has such a gift for making the smallest things really pop out and I love it. Their angst writing is heartwrenching in the most /pos way, they need so much more love!

Is there ever that one writer that you keep on going back to, over and over, even if you have read and analyzed every single one of their works? And it still gets better each time? There is for me. Fucking Helleniteeeee. I left the DSMP fandom like almost a year ago, yet I still go and have Hellenite binge reads on the regular.

Ad astra was my gateway drug, De Terra is still my favorite fic of all time like ever, possibly even better than most published books I’ve read, anything from LiTWS brings me immense comfort, and Fading Lights….that one stuck with me really really REALLY hard. So did all the other ones, but yknow. That’s a bittersweet ending done right, man. I absolutely adore everything in Hellens style of writing. From the beautiful, captivating description to the absolutely remarkable use of italics, each and every fic has left me crying and begging for more. But there’s three parts that Hellen just does so well, that it honestly shocks me that the whole first page of DSMP isn’t stuffed, head to toe, with Hellenite’s work.

1: Theme

Tackling this first, cause i have a LOT to say about this. Cause, HOLY SHIT!!! Theme! I absolutely just HDRTHHFGGJGJHAZJ. I’m not saying other writers haven’t pulled off themes in fanfic well before, cause they have! But the way Hellenite does it just hits different. Everything has a moral, in one way or another. And the moral is something genuine. Something real, something that happens in real life and that is represented perfectly in all her works. Like, okay. Event Horizon: You can change, you can improve. You are not your past, you are not your family, you are not your mistakes. As long as you’re trying, You’re on the right path. Things don’t get better immediately, they take time. A long, long time, but you are allowed to be happy along the way. Healing is a process, not a teleportation device. LiTWS: A relationship, be it romantic, platonic or familial, can be complicated. They can be difficult to maintain, but you love the other person, so you will work at it to solve your issues. It’s okay to fight, as long as you can acknowledge when you screw up. Communicate. Fading Lights: Life is difficult, but that doesn’t mean you should try and escape it. Find the right people who care about you, even if at the moment you feel or are complete shit. You can recover.

everything just leaves a special impact, because those messages come through. And they come through strong, without being all “LOOK AT ME IM HERE”. It’s just. Wow.

2: Character Development

Change is a very prominent feature in Hellens stories, and it never feels clunky or out of place. You genuinely feel it, but you can’t pinpoint the exact moment things change. Like how in the beginning of Ad Astra, we feel genuine dislike, and very quickly, hatred for Ran. But over time, that changes, and we see how Ran develops and improves. There’s setbacks, there’s relapses, but the change is there. In LiTWS, the relationship goes from somewhat forced, to fully, truly, genuine. Struggles and all. In FL, Tubbo….well. In the beginning, he was an addict who had a gruffish attitude, who was pushing away from society and his friends. He feared that he was turning into his father. He had awful self esteem. By the end, he was willing to change. He was willing to give up smoking and drinking and willing to put himself in an environment that involved Tommy. Change, change, change.

I think it’s all really well done. Cause people change, it’s natural. And it’s done so well here.

3: Love

The way Hellen writes love makes me wish I was in it. But not because it’s written as an all happy and sunshine solution to all wrong. It’s not. It’s written as a strong, complicated emotion. It isn’t written as a one-size fits all. It’s written as something rooted in our hearts that WE get to define, and WE get to use. We love, and it is not a weakness. Love is not a superpower. We all are capable of it, and it doesn’t have to be romantic. Love is…love. It’s so, so SO strong, and I think that this one element is what’s made me cry so much while reading Fading Lights or De Terra or whatever it is. Love. Such a strong meaning for such a small word. I go to Hellens stories and take notes on the way it’s written because it’s just. I hate stories that focus on love, generally. Mostly because they’re written as if it has to be this huge, romantic beats-all card, where the only thing that defines it is the word itself. The characters have to say it for us to know it, and even after that, we don’t believe it. Hellen writes it as it is, which is a difficult feat. These fics are just…wow.

All in all, the way Hellen writes, not only in short term by description and beautiful scenery, but in long term too, leaves such a strong impact. Hellen is definitely, without a doubt, the writer who has most inspired, motivated and influenced the way I write and even the way I think. Hellen has left such a positive mark on me that I’m confident I would be entirely different without having read that one gateway fic. I forgot to mention this, but I read Ad Astra while in a reading slump, and when I say it pulled me out…

also, the concepts in and of themselves are so creative and good and original?? Like how?? And the WORLDBUILDING DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE WORLDBUILDING. HOW??? How does one just make a world so convincing and make it feel so real?? And explore upon it without making it feel like pointless exposition???

TLDR; A year ago, these fics broke into my house, put me in a chokehold, and demanded it be allowed to live there rent free. It still has me in a chokehold, and I give it muffins sometimes.

Theres so much More i can say, and I will probably say it in different posts later. but for now..

I love Hellenites stories more than I love Interstellar, and that’s saying something cause I was a mess by the halfway point of that movie.

We are nothing more than Love and Stardust.

Tubbo and Ranboo of Ad Astra have become my most recent hyperfixation. The complexity of the characters, the depth of world building. Its like stepping into a new world, a world I'd get lost in if given the option. The deepest sorrows only make those bright moments shine more vibrantly.

The story has affected me so deeply. I've starting wearing a cariad braid in my own hair, on the right side rather than the left. A promise to love and commit to myself. My own life partner.

Its also gotten me motivated to write again. To craft worlds with my words again. Its helped me see the failing in my own writing, I've been afraid to commit. Not anymore.

Anyways a thank you to the writing of Ad Astra and the Event Horizon series, @hellenite for writing this master piece, as well as allowing me to read it out loud to my community later this month! Go read the story for yourself HERE! Trust me it is worth every single word.

so im in choir and we had to pick a song for the upcoming valentines dance. I didn't recognize the songs but we got to listen to them as a class in order too vote for one fairly.

Oh my, that's a good question.

I'm not great at explaining my worlds' lore but ima try-

The main concept of the fairyverse is that it's an escape from regular human life, kind of like cottagecore actually. I showed this by making it a literal forest, where one can get lost in and forget about their looming deadlines/responsibilities.

The story follows human girl Florence who accidentally stumbles into this magical forest and encounters a fairy, who quickly catches her interest. Florence returns to the forest another day, and after slowly gaining the fairy's trust they introduce her to their village.

The fairy village is supposed to represent a safe space for people who feel like they didn't belong back in the human world; weirdos like Florence (and me haha). It's full of unique bug characters like the ones I previously posted. A lot of them (aside from the storyline) also represent some of my key emotions.

Main character then also learns about the dangers of this fairy forest, including the aforementioned beetles of doom™ (beetle-winged fairies that stand for negative feelings and can infect the whole forest with rot).

That's all I have as of now, and I honestly have no clue where to take the plot from here - but you might just have inspired me to work on it! (btw this isn't a super serious project I'm doing; just sorta rambling about flowers and trees and gay people 👍)

I'm doing a snippet because why not. Here's the latest section in my fic Slip Sideways into Reality (as if that'll make it stick this time):

Working backwards from the present moment, Addai attempted to wrangle his vaguely comprehensible wisps of memory into something more solid. He knew that he'd been here before, had a picture in his mind of a grey car and inexplicably flat tires that pulled a faint dread from somewhere before it disappeared into the fog again. Did he know the man in front of him? To his credit, the white haired man (and how strange, white hair in a place like this, it shouldn't look so pristine, it looked wrong) seemed just as shocked to see him. There... there was something wrong with that. Wary prickles of nerves ran down his arms, sending the dim room into slightly sharper focus. You know him. Don't you?

Maybe they could work out what was wrong together? He didn't seem to belong to the unsettlingly wet green halls any more than Addai did. Glancing down at the water pooling around his thighs and then back at the stranger in front of him, it struck him that his memory issues could wait. If they didn't find a way out before the next wave came in, well. He really, really didn't want to think about it. "Hey! Uh. I don't know you, but I don't think you're going to kill me. You don't look like you will, anyway. I'm trying to get out of here. Want to come with me?"

Maybe a year or two ago i can’t remember, I read this fic series by Hellenite called “Event Horizon” on AO3. It’s gorgeous, changed my soul, I loved and still love it, and so I changed my username on discord to “Stelledore”.
